- 0:34Speaker 1: with us inside the Treehouse. I'm gan O'Malley along with
- 0:38Speaker 1: Trey Trenholm and Raj Sharma on the first episode of
- 0:44Speaker 1: twenty twenty five on Monday, January sixth, and today has
- 0:51Speaker 1: already started with a massive surprise, something Raj, you and
- 0:56Speaker 1: I could not have expected, couldn't even have dreamed of,
- 1:03Speaker 1: and that is unbeknownst to us until about fifteen minutes ago.
- 1:08Speaker 1: Our very own trade trend home may be an honest
- 1:13Speaker 1: to God love guru. Trey, you may be the casanova
- 1:18Speaker 1: inside the treehouse that no one expected, no offense noda.

- 1:52Speaker 1: own trade trend home tell us about his epic New
- 1:55Speaker 1: Year's Eve date in which, and I'm not embellishing any
- 1:59Speaker 1: part of this, the man went to work so other
- 2:03Speaker 1: employees could have a night off and enjoy their New
- 2:07Speaker 1: Year's Eve. Yeah, but that's not all, because Trey also
- 2:12Speaker 1: when he left work, he grabbed a breakfast cast role
- 2:17Speaker 1: that he'd been working on, and then went over to
- 2:20Speaker 1: a special lady's house and then then he gave her
- 2:26Speaker 1: some good, good New Year's Eve lovin and then fed
- 2:30Speaker 1: her at that cast role afterwards. And I don't know
- 2:37Speaker 1: about her, but I'm pretty shook about it. I know
- 2:42Speaker 1: that if you showed up at my house with a
- 2:44Speaker 1: breakfast cast role at one thirty in the morning, I
- 2:46Speaker 1: ain't kicking you out of bed New Year's Eve, anything
- 2:51Speaker 1: can happen.
- 2:53Speaker 2: All you need to say is if you subscribe to
- 2:56Speaker 2: the Patreon, not only can you hear the story, but
- 2:58Speaker 2: you might get recipes as out.
- 3:00Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, it's.
- 3:05Speaker 1: Every aspect of the story is covered inside the Treehouse
- 3:08Speaker 1: plus episode. So yeah, for New Year's Eve, our very
- 3:13Speaker 1: own Tray brought his New Year's Eve date a breakfast
- 3:15Speaker 1: cast role. And my god, man, hats off to you.
- 3:19Speaker 1: I salute a fist bump. I don't want to pound,
- 3:22Speaker 1: because what unless you bring a cast role. But I
- 3:26Speaker 1: am I am again just thoroughly impressed, and thank you
- 3:30Speaker 1: for sharing that with us.
- 3:31Speaker 3: So was she.
- 3:36Speaker 1: I'm curious when when you showed up with that breakfast
- 3:39Speaker 1: cast role, what dropped first? Her pants or the oven door? Uh?
- 3:49Speaker 4: The oven door, but then after she had tried it,
- 3:52Speaker 4: it would have been her pants.
- 3:54Speaker 3: There you go nice.
- 3:57Speaker 1: Or perhaps it's as the breakfast cast a roll crossed
- 4:00Speaker 1: the threshold of her front door, it just melted everything
- 4:05Speaker 1: on her.
- 4:07Speaker 4: She was she was actually quite impressed how good it was.
- 4:10Speaker 3: So the castle for you, Oh.
- 4:15Speaker 1: Boy, it's a good setup. We're a good team, and
- 4:20Speaker 1: I will help you out, not that apparently you need it.
- 4:23Speaker 3: I'm just saying, like, do you walk in with the
- 4:27Speaker 3: cast role? Are you? Are you clothed?
- 4:30Speaker 4: Oh?
- 4:30Speaker 3: Yeah? It was cold? Okay, gotcha? Because I mean I
- 4:33Speaker 3: don't know. Well, I mean in my head, I'm like,
- 4:36Speaker 3: you walk in but naked with a cast role.
- 4:41Speaker 1: And it doesn't matter if it's cold, because you're holding
- 4:42Speaker 1: a hot cast role. And so you know, Saturday Night
- 4:46Speaker 1: Saturday Night Live can say I got you this in
- 4:49Speaker 1: a box, but you Trey can say I got you
- 4:51Speaker 1: this in a castle role.
- 4:54Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't think you want to put that in
- 4:56Speaker 2: the cast role. But I'm saying I'm like.
- 4:58Speaker 1: That's really about the only thing this or he's lacking.
- 5:02Speaker 1: And we don't know that there wasn't any food play involved.
- 5:05Speaker 1: We haven't asked.
- 5:06Speaker 3: Absolutely, Okay you didn't. You didn't eat.
- 5:10Speaker 2: Castle off each other. I don't know how white people
- 5:12Speaker 2: do it, Like, shut up, that's not a white people
- 5:15Speaker 2: think that is a white eating castrole off of somebody.
- 5:19Speaker 1: And the eating eating eating something off of somebody. That's
- 5:22Speaker 1: not a white person exclusive thing. That's just horny and hungry.
- 5:27Speaker 2: No, eating a casserole is a white thing like me,
- 5:30Speaker 2: like syrup, chocolate sauce. Okay, that's kind of universal. But
- 5:34Speaker 2: if you're like, hey, here's a breakfast.
- 5:36Speaker 1: A seven layer breakfast.
- 5:37Speaker 2: Castrole, Yeah, that's a that's a white person think uh sexy.
- 5:46Speaker 4: And you know it's bad. From the makers of the
- 5:47Speaker 4: Kama Sutra.
- 5:54Speaker 2: No point in that book is there a casserole recipe?
- 6:00Speaker 1: Well, it sounds to me like there needs to be
- 6:01Speaker 1: a new chapter added the commistuturea according to tree Accord.
- 6:07Speaker 1: According to our very own Trey Trendholm, whose new nickname
- 6:11Speaker 1: is sweet Tea, m if I mean we said it
- 6:15Speaker 1: in the in the plus episode again. Patreon dot com,
- 6:18Speaker 1: slash Treehouse on here. If you want to impress a date,
- 6:23Speaker 1: you can bring flowers. But if you want to go
- 6:26Speaker 1: next level to sweet tea status, you bring that bitch
- 6:32Speaker 1: a casserole. And I mean that. I mean that with
- 6:36Speaker 1: all of the twenty first century feminist respect in the
- 6:40Speaker 1: world that it deserves.
- 6:41Speaker 3: They just loves Well, let me just say this, and.
- 6:47Speaker 1: There are a number of number of trey Get out
- 6:49Speaker 1: your notepad, I mean, raj, get your notepad out. Go ahead,
- 6:53Speaker 1: go ahead, master.
- 6:54Speaker 4: So what I learned is is that and I wish
- 6:59Speaker 4: i'd know this twenty years go. But you know, whether
- 7:01Speaker 4: it's a breakfast count or whatever. At two am, if
- 7:04Speaker 4: you instead of saying, hey, let's go to Waterburger or
- 7:06Speaker 4: Taco Bell, you go, hey, babe, let's go to my place.
- 7:10Speaker 4: I got something. I'm gonna whip up something real fast
- 7:13Speaker 4: and have you know, feed you breakfast homemade.
- 7:17Speaker 3: They like that.
- 7:18Speaker 1: Yeah, hey, babe, you want to come back to my house.
- 7:22Speaker 1: I got something hot and thick for.
- 7:23Speaker 2: You, spicy and slightly overcooked.
- 7:35Speaker 3: It's my design.
- 7:36Speaker 4: That's what I know.
- 7:38Speaker 3: That's when I walked out.
- 7:42Speaker 1: But it's all after the chef.

- 8:36Speaker 1: who's now unfortunately had to pass the guru title over
- 8:40Speaker 1: to Trey. We went from the stereotype to you know, meritocracy.
- 8:46Speaker 1: So congratulations Trey. Uh. I'm sorry, Raj. I cannot in
- 8:52Speaker 1: any way top pun intended your Breakfast cast role New
- 8:57Speaker 1: Year's Eve date story, so I'm not even gonna try,
- 9:01Speaker 1: but I do just want to let you guys know
- 9:03Speaker 1: I am attempting something that I have heard about for
- 9:06Speaker 1: a long time but have never actually attempted. I am
- 9:12Speaker 1: trying dry January, or as I've seen a couple of
- 9:18Speaker 1: news articles state, I am apparently sober curious, which sounds
- 9:25Speaker 1: weird to say anything about me curious, but I get
- 9:27Speaker 1: that's what some of the news articles say. For many
- 9:30Speaker 1: the New Year means new goals, which may look like
- 9:32Speaker 1: getting back to the gym, cooking more meals at home,
- 9:34Speaker 1: hit tree, or cutting back on sugar, but for many
- 9:38Speaker 1: it's a time to reduce their alcohol intake. For folks
- 9:42Speaker 1: looking to get on the right track, you may be
- 9:45Speaker 1: interested in Dry January, a thirty one day challenge thirty
- 9:50Speaker 1: for me, in which participants abstain from drinking alcohol, whether
- 9:54Speaker 1: it be cocktails, wine, and or beer. So here, I
- 9:58Speaker 1: am a few days, so far, so good, Okay, all right,
- 10:07Speaker 1: So Trey, this this is your area of expertise. You're
- 10:12Speaker 1: you're you're the soberest person in this treehouse and have
- 10:15Speaker 1: been for damn near a decade. You are going on
- 10:19Speaker 1: nine years sober now, and I'm I'm just I'm just
- 10:25Speaker 1: going to try it for January. I have I have
- 10:27Speaker 1: friends that do it. Yeah, Gray, Trey, You've taken it
- 10:30Speaker 1: to a whole new level. Uh So, I'm just curious
- 10:33Speaker 1: about it. I'm using it kind of, like I said
- 10:34Speaker 1: there in the setup, as just sort of a reset,
- 10:39Speaker 1: just going to start the year fresh, get back into
- 10:42Speaker 1: a regular routine at the gym, eating right, and to
- 10:46Speaker 1: jump start everything. I'm going to try not drinking for
- 10:48Speaker 1: the entire month of January.
- 10:50Speaker 4: You know, I and and honestly, I think you'll find
- 10:52Speaker 4: that you'll like it. Most people figure out, you know,
- 10:58Speaker 4: if they because thirty days is.
- 11:02Speaker 3: In sobriety. Yeah, thirty days.
- 11:04Speaker 4: The first thirty days is always the hardest, you know,
- 11:07Speaker 4: and if you're not shaking or anything else, and you're
- 11:10Speaker 4: fine to begin with, but you'll figure out how alcohol
- 11:13Speaker 4: does affect you in the slightest ways.
- 11:17Speaker 1: So I know, for me, a big part of it
- 11:19Speaker 1: is social, so especially in the late afternoon because we
- 11:25Speaker 1: used to do afternoon radio for years, so we never
- 11:28Speaker 1: did happy or anything like that. We would just go
- 11:30Speaker 1: for dinner and then stay out late. But now we're
- 11:35Speaker 1: on a different schedule, so come afternoon time, it's kind
- 11:39Speaker 1: of a slow time and a way to take up
- 11:42Speaker 1: some of that time is to go have a drink
- 11:44Speaker 1: somewhere and that can be an hour or so. You
- 11:46Speaker 1: have a couple of drinks, maybe order some dinner, taken home,
- 11:49Speaker 1: eat dinner, and there you go. That's almost That was
- 11:51Speaker 1: almost a typical day, you know, for me and my wife.
- 11:56Speaker 1: So we're trying some little different try to be a
- 11:58Speaker 1: little healthier, and a big chunk of that is obviously,
- 12:01Speaker 1: you know, cutting out the booze for a while.
- 12:04Speaker 4: Now, I'll say this, this is my personal opinion.
- 12:07Speaker 3: Uh huh.
- 12:07Speaker 4: If you're trying dry January, don't substitute it with you know,
- 12:14Speaker 4: like THCHC or some of the other things. Like if
- 12:17Speaker 4: you're going for sobriety at the end of the day,
- 12:20Speaker 4: sobriety is like pregnancy either our yarn.
- 12:23Speaker 1: Ohs deep, which you have to be to get pregnant.
- 12:26Speaker 4: Also, you know, if you can't go, if you're having
- 12:30Speaker 4: trouble going thirty one days without some kind of altered
- 12:35Speaker 4: state toxic Yeah, yeah, then you might want to reevaluate things.
- 12:40Speaker 1: Yeah. Luckily for me, I've experimented with marijuana recently, more
- 12:45Speaker 1: so than I have throughout my life. Over the summer,
- 12:48Speaker 1: tried it a few times in various forms, and I
- 12:51Speaker 1: found out and now that I know, I found out
- 12:54Speaker 1: that it just makes me motion sick because I'm motion
- 12:56Speaker 1: sickness sensitive, so I don't particularly enjoy it. So I'm
- 13:00Speaker 1: taking that advice to heart. Tray, I'm not going to
- 13:02Speaker 1: supplement any any other sort of intoxic or substance to
- 13:06Speaker 1: alter my mood or state of mind or anything. I'm
- 13:13Speaker 1: I'm trying. I'm trying for dry.
- 13:16Speaker 3: Yeah. I started in December.
- 13:21Speaker 1: Oh really yeah, you over achieving Asian.
- 13:26Speaker 3: I know that's what we do.
- 13:29Speaker 1: The white guys said, I'm gonna try it dry. January,
- 13:31Speaker 1: Raj pops in like a spelling bee champ. I've been
- 13:33Speaker 1: doing it since last year.
- 13:35Speaker 2: I mean I started September, but then you know, met
- 13:38Speaker 2: up with some friends and had cocktails one afternoon and
- 13:41Speaker 2: then didn't do anything till my birthday in Reno, and
- 13:46Speaker 2: then really didn't do anything after that, so kind of
- 13:51Speaker 2: paste it out. But uh yeah, December just kind of
- 13:54Speaker 2: knocked it out. I was like, you know, I'm gonna
- 13:56Speaker 2: stop the the booze. That's why I think Jerry said
- 14:01Speaker 2: I looked weird because I lost weight, and that's.
- 14:04Speaker 1: What our Jerry called.
- 14:05Speaker 3: Well, yes, uh.
- 14:07Speaker 2: And that's I mean, you know, when you're you don't
- 14:10Speaker 2: think about it, but a shot of whiskey is one
- 14:12Speaker 2: hundred and one calories. Now do that over the afternoon,
- 14:18Speaker 2: and uh, if you're me, you're about a thousand calories
- 14:23Speaker 2: in so so basically.
- 14:26Speaker 1: What I'm hearing is that you and I are going
- 14:28Speaker 1: to have six packs come summer.
- 14:33Speaker 4: And you're cutting down on the sugar that your body
- 14:35Speaker 4: taking you.
- 14:37Speaker 3: But I did. I did. I have to have a
- 14:41Speaker 3: little bowl of.
- 14:42Speaker 2: Ice cream the the other night because I was like,
- 14:46Speaker 2: I don't know what it is I need. And I
- 14:50Speaker 2: saw a vanilla ice cream on on the menu over
- 14:54Speaker 2: at Tower Club, and uh got myself a bowl and
- 14:57Speaker 2: I was like, Oh, this is delightable.
- 15:00Speaker 3: Better than any whiskey you can get.
- 15:03Speaker 4: So listen. I always tell this story because I never
- 15:06Speaker 4: had a sweet tooth, Like, yeah, I've really never cared
- 15:10Speaker 4: for desserts, candy, chocolate, whatever. First morning I have no alcohol,
- 15:16Speaker 4: so and I woke up and I would have gutted
- 15:19Speaker 4: somebody for a snicker doodle.
- 15:24Speaker 1: I saw it once too. I saw it after like after,
- 15:27Speaker 1: after like a couple of weeks, I met up with
- 15:28Speaker 1: Trey and he and I walked past the front of
- 15:31Speaker 1: a grocery store and it was girl Scout season. He
- 15:33Speaker 1: murdered all of them and stole their cookies. It was
- 15:36Speaker 1: a horrific sight.
- 15:39Speaker 3: The Thin massacre.
- 15:41Speaker 1: Of twenty sixteen. You've heard of it.
- 15:47Speaker 2: It was on my ID channel the other day, so.
- 15:51Speaker 1: I think it's on an episode of Unsolved Mysteries. They're
- 15:53Speaker 1: still looking for Trey.
- 15:56Speaker 3: It's all very scary people.

- 16:48Speaker 1: That is Treehouse on Air dot com. I'm Dan along
- 16:52Speaker 1: with Trey and Raj, and I can say this, and
- 16:57Speaker 1: this is true. For the very first time in the
- 16:59Speaker 1: history of this and all of its iterations, forms and phases,
- 17:06Speaker 1: all three regular cast members of this show are sober
- 17:12Speaker 1: and none of them are court ordered. Good for us, Okay,
- 17:17Speaker 1: none of us are having to wear ankle monitors. There's
- 17:20Speaker 1: no interlock devices on our cars. We can ride our
- 17:23Speaker 1: bike freely without having to look for cops or whatever.
- 17:27Speaker 1: So good all, No, it's good, yeah, good for us.
- 17:29Speaker 1: Twenty twenty five starting off right, There is something else
- 17:34Speaker 1: that I know will kick our twenty twenty five off
- 17:37Speaker 1: with a hell of a start, and that is it
- 17:42Speaker 1: is time for believe it or not. Inside the treehouse
- 17:47Speaker 1: the first of twenty twenty five, I will read a
- 17:49Speaker 1: statement and you, Trey and Raj, you have to tell
- 17:53Speaker 1: me whether you believe it or not. Are you ready?
- 17:59Speaker 3: Yep?
- 18:04Speaker 1: Graham Crackers Graham Crackers were invented by Sylvester Graham, a
- 18:11Speaker 1: Puritanical nineteenth century minister, in an attempt to tamper the
- 18:15Speaker 1: carnal desire for sex. Graham Cracker. I'm gonna say it again.
- 18:20Speaker 1: Graham Crackers were invented by Sylvester Graham, a Puritanical nineteenth
- 18:25Speaker 1: century minister, in an attempt to tamper the carnal desire
- 18:30Speaker 1: for sex. Believe it or not, Raj, We'll start with
- 18:35Speaker 1: you one hundred percent. You agree you believe it?
- 18:39Speaker 4: Ye?
- 18:40Speaker 1: Trey? Do you believe it or not?
- 18:44Speaker 4: You know that sounds just bizarre enough that I'm gonna
- 18:46Speaker 4: go in and say, yeah, I'll believe it.
- 18:51Speaker 1: You both have started twenty twenty five correctly.
- 18:54Speaker 3: This is true.
- 18:56Speaker 1: The Graham Cracker was invented to make people less horny. Yes,
- 19:05Speaker 1: and I guess unsurprisingly, it didn't start out as delicious
- 19:10Speaker 1: as it is now, because I've never eaten a gram
- 19:13Speaker 1: cracker and gotten horny but I've also never eaten a
- 19:15Speaker 1: gram cracker and gotten unhorny. But when I did a
- 19:20Speaker 1: little more reading on this, the cinnamon and the sugar
- 19:23Speaker 1: and the sweetness were added later. So the statement that
- 19:28Speaker 1: I read is absolutely true. Gram Crackers were invented by
- 19:31Speaker 1: a puritanical nineteenth century minister named Sylvester Graham in his
- 19:36Speaker 1: attempt to tamper the carnal desire for sex. And this
- 19:41Speaker 1: is shocking people that the gram cracker started with a
- 19:46Speaker 1: sex fueled history. And now Sylvester Graham, this puritanical minister
- 19:55Speaker 1: who created the gram Cracker, he believed sex caused every
- 20:00Speaker 1: thing from headaches to insanity, and this included masturbation, so
- 20:05Speaker 1: any sort of sexual release, touch, whatever. He was completely
- 20:13Speaker 1: against it, so much so he created the Graham Cracker
- 20:15Speaker 1: to combat it.
- 20:17Speaker 2: Obviously he failed, which is weird because that's why they
- 20:20Speaker 2: used to give us a nap time in kindergarten.
- 20:24Speaker 1: Times changed, Reverend. Yeah, just imagine, just imagine you're Scott
- 20:30Speaker 1: Bacula in an episode of Quantum Leap, and you go
- 20:33Speaker 1: back to this guy and tell him what gram crackers
- 20:36Speaker 1: are used for the twentieth century. We use it to
- 20:40Speaker 1: put kidney gardeners down for naps. I'd love to see
- 20:46Speaker 1: his face on that one.
- 20:49Speaker 4: That's what happens when you go that long. Is a
- 20:52Speaker 4: gram cracker is sexually satisfying to you.
- 20:59Speaker 1: So I guess I'm not the only one going through
- 21:01Speaker 1: a dry January tray. Yeah. Instead of simply preaching abstinence,
- 21:10Speaker 1: Pastor Graham created something else entirely in hopes of quenching
- 21:13Speaker 1: people's sexual appetite and curing them a bland cracker like snack.
- 21:19Speaker 1: He rose to prominence in the Presbyterian Church, but was
- 21:22Speaker 1: always obsessed with health. After a childhood spent as a
- 21:25Speaker 1: frail and sickly child, he realized it was his life's
- 21:30Speaker 1: mission to prevent the evils of sex indulgence and what
- 21:34Speaker 1: he believed to be the unhealthy effects of lust.
- 21:40Speaker 4: Or he just realized, that's the first example of when
- 21:42Speaker 4: you eat a cracker in bed, you're gonna piss your
- 21:43Speaker 4: woman off because you get crumbs everywhere.
- 21:51Speaker 1: So the anti sex crusade was just sort of a cover.
- 21:54Speaker 1: He just knew that the crumbs would turn a woman off.
- 21:58Speaker 4: He just knew the crumbs would lead to an anti.
- 22:04Speaker 1: He may have been a genius.
- 22:06Speaker 2: Unless you just are starting to eat gram Crackers off
- 22:09Speaker 2: of each other. Now, I don't know how that works either,
- 22:11Speaker 2: but I don't.
- 22:11Speaker 1: Think so, not the way that his original recipe sounds.
- 22:18Speaker 1: Where did it go? In eighteen twenty nine, Graham took
- 22:21Speaker 1: his mission and invented what would later become the gram Cracker.
- 22:23Speaker 1: It was tasteless, dry whole wheat, made of finely ground
- 22:28Speaker 1: unbleached wheat flour and coarsely ground wheat brand. The gram
- 22:32Speaker 1: Crackers transformation into the sweet honeyed snack we know today
- 22:36Speaker 1: happened after Nabisco got a hold of it in the
- 22:38Speaker 1: eighteen nineties.
- 22:42Speaker 3: So yeah, yeah, that sounds about right.
- 22:44Speaker 1: Yeah, Reverend Graham believed the Reverend Graham believed the original
- 22:49Speaker 1: gram crackers blandness would keep sensual urges at bay, especially
- 22:54Speaker 1: in adolescent boys.
- 22:58Speaker 3: Okay, that just got creepy.
- 23:01Speaker 1: Well, I mean that is when we're at our horniest.
- 23:05Speaker 3: So you get him Graham Cracker. Hey, put that away,
- 23:09Speaker 3: here's a cracker. I don't know how that works.
- 23:15Speaker 1: It'd be a hell of a be a hell of
- 23:17Speaker 1: an advertising campaign from Nbisco.
- 23:20Speaker 3: That'd be a great commercial.
- 23:21Speaker 2: Just walk in and you got the kid uh in
- 23:24Speaker 2: bed and he's like here's a cracker.
- 23:29Speaker 1: Are you horny?
- 23:30Speaker 3: Here?
- 23:33Speaker 4: Scott Bacula went back in time and showed him how
- 23:35Speaker 4: to make a breakfast cast role.
- 23:36Speaker 1: His ruined, especially with that sweet tea recipe.

- 24:42Speaker 1: the year twenty twenty five. Happy New Year to all.
- 24:46Speaker 1: Lots of things happened over the holiday break This story
- 24:50Speaker 1: that I saw was definitely, I think an important piece
- 24:53Speaker 1: of information that I wanted to share with you guys today,
- 24:56Speaker 1: and that is being before you exercise apparently has an
- 25:03Speaker 1: incredible effect on performance. It's a very important study that
- 25:08Speaker 1: was released recently or past. It says, in part, if
- 25:15Speaker 1: you're looking to improve your performance both cognitively and physically,
- 25:19Speaker 1: you need to start by giving a crap. Literally. Experts
- 25:23Speaker 1: say to go to the toilet and empty your bowels
- 25:25Speaker 1: if you're about to compete in a triathlon. It will
- 25:28Speaker 1: make you both faster and smarter. That's according to that's
- 25:32Speaker 1: according to two recent studies that were pushed out recently
- 25:36Speaker 1: by the medical field.
- 25:40Speaker 4: Yeah, who can can do it on command? Like I
- 25:43Speaker 4: think you can just crap on command?
- 25:47Speaker 3: I don't know either. I mean, I wish, I mean
- 25:50Speaker 3: I don't.
- 25:52Speaker 1: I swear to God, I'm not making this up. There
- 25:54Speaker 1: was a time in my life when I toyed with
- 25:57Speaker 1: very briefly, with the notion of milit terry, not military,
- 26:01Speaker 1: and one of the reasons I didn't want to do it.
- 26:02Speaker 1: There were many others, but one of the reasons I
- 26:04Speaker 1: didn't want to do it was because I don't want
- 26:06Speaker 1: to poop in front of anybody. And I also can't
- 26:08Speaker 1: speed poop. I am physically unable to speed poop. Like
- 26:13Speaker 1: you said, I can't do it on command. I have
- 26:15Speaker 1: no idea how people do that.
- 26:18Speaker 4: I mean, I'm envious of anyone who can. I mean,
- 26:21Speaker 4: I I don't even go every day, So I'm I'm like,
- 26:26Speaker 4: you don't go every day?
- 26:29Speaker 2: No, No, Oh, I'm I'm so regular. I'm I'm like
- 26:34Speaker 2: at least three times a day.
- 26:36Speaker 4: Wow, that's weird. I'm lucky if I three or four
- 26:39Speaker 4: times a week.
- 26:41Speaker 2: See to me, that's it's okay, that's really weird. And
- 26:45Speaker 2: you should probably maybe.
- 26:47Speaker 3: I just off.
- 26:48Speaker 1: Maybe you'd like cut down on the cheese or something.
- 26:51Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't. I don't know what you're doing, buddy,
- 26:53Speaker 2: But that's that is is case? So one of your
- 26:56Speaker 2: food groups.
- 26:57Speaker 4: No, and it's it's always been this way. This isn't
- 27:02Speaker 4: anything new.
- 27:03Speaker 2: No. So, I mean your digestive system every twenty four hours, right,
- 27:07Speaker 2: so if you have breakfast at eight am, the next
- 27:10Speaker 2: day at eight am, you should have a bowel movement.
- 27:14Speaker 1: You said, should that's the most dangerous word in the
- 27:17Speaker 1: English language.
- 27:18Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 27:18Speaker 2: So, but but I do like when I eat, you know,
- 27:21Speaker 2: I breakfast in the morning. The next day, same.
- 27:25Speaker 1: Thing, breakfast, breakfast meets again.
- 27:28Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 27:28Speaker 2: So I mean it's every time, every twenty four hours
- 27:32Speaker 2: is when you should have a bowel movement there, buddy,
- 27:37Speaker 2: kind of. I have a friend of mine who's a
- 27:41Speaker 2: gastro and allst in Houston. I might drive you down
- 27:44Speaker 2: there and have you meet him, like, because that doesn't
- 27:47Speaker 2: sound I'm very healthy at all times.
- 27:50Speaker 1: That's not sick. He can drive himself.
- 27:54Speaker 3: Oh, it'll be his car.
- 27:55Speaker 2: I'm just saying, I'll just give direct so uh but yeah,
- 28:02Speaker 2: that's kind of uh, that's kind of weird.
- 28:04Speaker 4: Man. And before anyone starts giving me tips, I've tried
- 28:09Speaker 4: them all.
- 28:09Speaker 3: Don't stop. Please, don't.
- 28:12Speaker 1: Oh about about tips on how to go more frequently.
- 28:15Speaker 3: Yes, I'm with you.
- 28:17Speaker 1: That's that's one area where I don't need. If my
- 28:20Speaker 1: doctor says I'm healthy, then then whatever I'm doing is fine.
- 28:24Speaker 1: There's if it ain't broke, don't fix it, whether that's
- 28:27Speaker 1: uaje every twenty four hours like clockwork or tray three
- 28:31Speaker 1: to four times a week, and that's it. As long
- 28:33Speaker 1: as as long as you're given the stamp of healthy
- 28:36Speaker 1: by your doctor, then then it's working for you.
- 28:39Speaker 3: Yeah, well you've gotten huh what you've gotten?
- 28:44Speaker 4: People are like, oh, more fiber. Yeah, and more fiber
- 28:49Speaker 4: will clog me up even worse. And that's so interesting.
- 28:53Speaker 4: That's a painful clogging.
- 28:56Speaker 1: That's a that's a firm reality that occurs.
- 29:03Speaker 3: When it does.
- 29:04Speaker 1: But yeah, according to two new studies, pooping before you
- 29:07Speaker 1: exercise has an incredible effect on performance. The latest research
- 29:11Speaker 1: involved thirteen triathletes, a cognitive test called the stroop test,
- 29:16Speaker 1: which is obviously begging to be called the poop test,
- 29:18Speaker 1: and a magnesium oxide laxative. The result, the athletes performed
- 29:23Speaker 1: measurably better on the cognitive test after avoiding their large intestines,
- 29:28Speaker 1: a finding that suggests an under explored link between the
- 29:31Speaker 1: rectum and cognitive function. Or I guess put another way.
- 29:39Speaker 1: You know, the old adage you may have for brains.
- 29:46Speaker 1: Science seems to have confirmed it.
- 29:51Speaker 3: That's a part of the story.
- 29:51Speaker 4: I didn't really is there to given a laxative, So
- 29:53Speaker 4: that's okay.
- 29:56Speaker 1: Which I think would be dangerous before a triathlon. Yeah,
- 30:01Speaker 1: I'm going to be running. I don't want to be
- 30:03Speaker 1: running with the runs.
- 30:08Speaker 3: That's the part. That's the part where you want to
- 30:10Speaker 3: go swimming first.
- 30:12Speaker 1: Yeah, well yeah, I think so, yeah, yeah, because then
- 30:16Speaker 1: that way it kind of you get cleaned hopefully. Yeah,
- 30:19Speaker 1: but you better make sure you're done because the thing
- 30:22Speaker 1: you don't want to do is to swim, and then
- 30:26Speaker 1: you have the runs, and then you've got the runs,
- 30:28Speaker 1: more runs while you're running, and then and then you
- 30:31Speaker 1: got a bike with more runs.
- 30:33Speaker 4: I think, don't you start off biking so like you
- 30:36Speaker 4: basically you don't want to be the person behind you
- 30:38Speaker 4: because then you're gonna get you know, s stream.
- 30:46Speaker 1: A bit of a trail.
- 30:47Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 30:51Speaker 4: I guess you go to the water and clean off
- 30:53Speaker 4: and then there's anything left, and you know it's just
- 30:55Speaker 4: gonna be running down your leg.
- 30:59Speaker 1: You're gonna be a hit on the on the on
- 31:01Speaker 1: the metal podium, all the all the pretty girls standing
- 31:06Speaker 1: behind you just start.
- 31:10Speaker 3: That's like, why did he start swimming first?
- 31:15Speaker 1: Like he's going backwards? Did he know something we don't?
- 31:19Speaker 1: This is like ready player one.
- 31:25Speaker 5: You're listening to the Treehouse.

- 32:09Speaker 1: To advertise here inside the Treehouse, Dan, Trey and Raj
- 32:14Speaker 1: here with you. There were a few more things about
- 32:16Speaker 1: dry January. I wanted to throw at you guys because
- 32:18Speaker 1: I thought was interesting. So I'm starting I've started dry January.
- 32:23Speaker 3: So far, so good.
- 32:24Speaker 1: I haven't, you know, had any crazy cravings or wanted
- 32:28Speaker 1: to kill anybody yet or anything like that. I have noticed,
- 32:32Speaker 1: And this was true for when I quit smoking, with
- 32:35Speaker 1: quitting drinking for the month or however long I'd end
- 32:38Speaker 1: up doing it. I'm very much a creature of habit,
- 32:43Speaker 1: So when it came time to quit smoking, a lot
- 32:46Speaker 1: of it had to do with the whole process, not
- 32:49Speaker 1: just the cigarette and the nicotine addiction itself, but the habit,
- 32:54Speaker 1: the ritual, packing a new pack of smokes, pulling out,
- 32:59Speaker 1: pulling it out, lighting at the first draw, all of
- 33:01Speaker 1: a sudden, I want a cigarette. And then same thing
- 33:05Speaker 1: with drinking, which is and the way I quit smoking
- 33:08Speaker 1: initially was not cold turkey, but with a cigarette like
- 33:13Speaker 1: vape thing, but it actually looked like and tasted like
- 33:18Speaker 1: a cigarette. I just kept in my pocket, but it
- 33:20Speaker 1: was like an easig and that helped the going through
- 33:24Speaker 1: the habit and the ritual that helped me quit smoking.
- 33:26Speaker 1: Same thing with the not drinking. I typically drink like
- 33:30Speaker 1: a vodka soda. So what I what I'm doing now
- 33:33Speaker 1: is I'm just making a club soda with no vodkan,
- 33:35Speaker 1: still drinking something. So I'm still going through the process.
- 33:39Speaker 1: I'm just I'm not getting the actual substance, but I'm
- 33:42Speaker 1: still going through the ritual, if that makes sense. I
- 33:45Speaker 1: don't know if that's that's good or bad tray.
- 33:47Speaker 4: No, it's you know, It's like I was never a
- 33:50Speaker 4: big beer drinker, but in the first, especially the first
- 33:55Speaker 4: months of sobriety, I would have a non alcoholic beer
- 34:00Speaker 4: if I went out to a bar or something, just
- 34:02Speaker 4: because when you get away from it, you realize that
- 34:07Speaker 4: so many things in our society, and especially you know,
- 34:11Speaker 4: going like everything, so many things just revolve around drinking.
- 34:14Speaker 4: That's just it's a huge part of it. And when
- 34:18Speaker 4: you're in those first, you know, beginning days, it makes
- 34:22Speaker 4: the transition easier that just having something in your hand,
- 34:29Speaker 4: and that makes you feel like everyone else, you know.
- 34:32Speaker 4: And then after a while you get to the point
- 34:34Speaker 4: you're like, yeah, I'm I'm drinking water. Go after yourself.
- 34:40Speaker 4: You know. It's when people are like, well, why'd you drinking?
- 34:44Speaker 4: I don't.
- 34:46Speaker 1: Because because if your Trey, your response to that could
- 34:49Speaker 1: be because I was full. Yeah, Trey had no more
- 34:54Speaker 1: room left. He had taken it all.
- 34:57Speaker 2: A buddy mind did ginger all with a splash of coked,
- 35:00Speaker 2: so it looked like a whiskey in his glass.
- 35:04Speaker 3: We stage, we do it all the time.
- 35:07Speaker 4: Like, you know, there's times people come in and like, hey,
- 35:10Speaker 4: can you make me you know, a tail a soda
- 35:14Speaker 4: with a slash splash of cranberry so it looks like
- 35:16Speaker 4: you're drinking a vodka cranberry or you know, things like
- 35:19Speaker 4: that that or even just sometimes just a coke and
- 35:22Speaker 4: a cocktail glass. So you know, no one thinks twice
- 35:27Speaker 4: about it.
- 35:27Speaker 1: Yeah, it is interesting while attempting the dry January thing,
- 35:33Speaker 1: not really experiencing necessarily any withdrawals. I feel pretty much
- 35:37Speaker 1: the same. I sleep a little bit heavier when I.
- 35:40Speaker 4: Do sleep, but at weird weird dreams.
- 35:46Speaker 1: I have weird dreams anyway, because I take melatonin, so
- 35:49Speaker 1: melotonin give gives me weird dreams.
- 35:51Speaker 3: As it is.
- 35:51Speaker 1: So there's not a huge change that I've seen so far.
- 35:55Speaker 1: The the Dry January Challenge, it began in twenty thirteen.
- 35:59Speaker 1: It was start by alcohol change in the United Kingdom.
- 36:03Speaker 1: And some of the benefits of dry January that I'm
- 36:06Speaker 1: looking forward to are improved sleep, weight loss, and increased energy.
- 36:12Speaker 1: And it also says that people struggling with heavy alcohol
- 36:14Speaker 1: use should consult a medical professional before participating. I didn't
- 36:19Speaker 1: do that. I'm just talking to you, Trey, because Trey,
- 36:23Speaker 1: you're the bones of the tree House. You're like from
- 36:26Speaker 1: Star Trek. Yeah, you're the bones of the Treehouse. I'm
- 36:30Speaker 1: Captain Kirk, your bones, the ship's doctor.
- 36:34Speaker 3: Really, the white guy is the doctor. Indian guys not
- 36:40Speaker 3: the doctor.
- 36:41Speaker 1: This show doesn't follow stereotype.
- 36:43Speaker 3: Rush, It's not really a stereotype at this point.
- 36:50Speaker 4: Indian guy. In Star Trek, you'd be wearing a red uniform.
- 36:56Speaker 1: In the Treehouse, I'm the one that doesn't beam up.
- 37:01Speaker 4: You're on that first away team.
- 37:04Speaker 1: In the Treehouse version of Star Trek. You're insign Ricky.
- 37:12Speaker 5: You're in the tree House.
- 37:14Speaker 7: Visit us online at Treehouseonair dot com.
- 37:31Speaker 5: You're listening to the Treehouse.
- 37:34Speaker 6: Visit us online at Treehouseonair dot com.
- 37:41Speaker 1: Do you like to watch? Well, you can actually watch
- 37:44Speaker 1: us right here inside the Treehouse on YouTube. Just search
- 37:48Speaker 1: for the Treehouse on YouTube or go to our channel
- 37:51Speaker 1: directly YouTube dot com. Slash at Treehouse on Air for
- 37:55Speaker 1: Treehouse TV on YouTube. Treehouse TV is on. All right, Trey,
- 38:02Speaker 1: you said there was something else you needed to mention
- 38:03Speaker 1: about dry January.
- 38:05Speaker 4: Yeah, it's something you kind of touched on. And this
- 38:07Speaker 4: is kind of a just a PSA. If you have
- 38:10Speaker 4: been drinking heavily, do not quit cold turkey. Wean yourself off.
- 38:15Speaker 4: Consult a doctor. You can do heroin every day for
- 38:18Speaker 4: twenty years and quit cold turkey and it'll hurt, but
- 38:21Speaker 4: it won't kill you. Alcohol will can kill you if
- 38:24Speaker 4: you quit cold turkey.
- 38:26Speaker 3: Really.
- 38:26Speaker 4: Yeah, absolutely, the seizures that can cause.
- 38:29Speaker 3: Absolutely can kill you. Huh, I did not know that.
- 38:33Speaker 4: Yeah, alcohols what are the few things that permeates the
- 38:36Speaker 4: blood brain barrier and uh so, well, you know, you
- 38:39Speaker 4: hear the term. You've heard the term wet brain before
- 38:41Speaker 4: for alcoholics. That's because it really does get into the brain.
- 38:46Speaker 4: And so if you have been a prolonged drinking heavy drinking,
- 38:51Speaker 4: consult a physician. If nothing else, wean yourself off. Like
- 38:56Speaker 4: and basically here's how you do it. When you start shaking,
- 39:01Speaker 4: drink something you hate, like for me, it was either
- 39:03Speaker 4: warm vodka or warm jin warm gin, but you take it, Yeah, exactly.
- 39:08Speaker 4: It's not for pleasure, hot zambuca. Yeah, and that's just
- 39:13Speaker 4: to make the shakes go away.
- 39:15Speaker 3: Room temperature to waka oh good.
- 39:17Speaker 4: Low man.
- 39:20Speaker 1: The sad thing is is every every drink we just mentioned,
- 39:23Speaker 1: we all would have down in a blink of an eye.
- 39:26Speaker 1: In college and before I.
- 39:28Speaker 3: Would have never done gin. I was never a fan.
- 39:30Speaker 3: I tried it once and one day and that was it.
- 39:33Speaker 3: But so.
- 39:38Speaker 2: You just give yourself, like you start you start feeling
- 39:40Speaker 2: the withdrawal or like, I don't know how that works.
- 39:45Speaker 4: If you start having the shakes, and I mean like
- 39:49Speaker 4: you're having withdrawals, that means you've got you do not
- 39:53Speaker 4: need to go cold turkey and you need to wean
- 39:56Speaker 4: yourself off.
- 39:58Speaker 2: Now you if you know how many how many would
- 40:00Speaker 2: you like if you start shaking, you take one and
- 40:03Speaker 2: then just kind of like just for the people listening,
- 40:07Speaker 2: like if you if if it starts again, then you
- 40:10Speaker 2: take another one.
- 40:11Speaker 3: I don't know how that, Yeah.
- 40:12Speaker 4: That's basically I mean, I like how it was for
- 40:14Speaker 4: me is I had to start with you know, I
- 40:19Speaker 4: probably did ten shots a day just you know, and.
- 40:23Speaker 1: That was you well, yeah, holy wow, okay man, I
- 40:29Speaker 1: did not know it was like that.
- 40:31Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean it was. I sweated through my sheets
- 40:34Speaker 4: every night for thirty days, the shakes. It took, God,
- 40:40Speaker 4: it took probably sixty days for the shakes to finally
- 40:43Speaker 4: go away. Now, I but it took me nine days
- 40:47Speaker 4: to wean off and to day for nine days. No,
- 40:52Speaker 4: you tape her down, so okay, ten nine eight, But
- 40:56Speaker 4: but I did it too fast. At one point, and
- 40:59Speaker 4: at an AA meeting there was a guy who ran
- 41:01Speaker 4: a treatment center who told my friends, like, you need
- 41:03Speaker 4: to take him to Parkland right now.
- 41:05Speaker 1: Oh no, you thought you're gonna say. He handed you
- 41:07Speaker 1: a flask and I was like, no, no, but that'd
- 41:10Speaker 1: be looked down on it.
- 41:11Speaker 4: Now. That was probably my third day, and that was
- 41:13Speaker 4: the worst of it. And then I got through that
- 41:15Speaker 4: day and it got better. But yeah, consult the doctor.
- 41:18Speaker 3: I was lucky.
- 41:18Speaker 4: I had a friend who was a doctor kind of
- 41:20Speaker 4: helped me through it. But you know, if you can
- 41:23Speaker 4: go to a doctor and that they can give you things, man,
- 41:26Speaker 4: it makes it so much easier. Doing it on your
- 41:28Speaker 4: own sucks.
- 41:29Speaker 1: Yeah, Drinking uh is can be a dangerous thing if
- 41:34Speaker 1: you're at a certain level. Trey knows that level. I
- 41:37Speaker 1: know that level mainly because I've seen it. You mentioned
- 41:40Speaker 1: wet brain as a thing I've seen that. I had
- 41:45Speaker 1: a friend in the hospital once and he wasn't allowed
- 41:48Speaker 1: to drink obviously in the hospital because he was there
- 41:51Speaker 1: for allegedly something unrelated, but they gave him medication to
- 41:59Speaker 1: help with the DTS from not having booze, to which
- 42:04Speaker 1: he of course said that I didn't need that. It's
