- 0:11Speaker 1: Welcome to Girls Gone Hallmark, a Hallmark Review podcast. I'm Megan,
- 0:14Speaker 1: and I'm a longtime Hallmark fan. I'm Wendy. I'm a
- 0:16Speaker 1: former Hallmark hater. It's time. Are you excited? I am.
- 0:23Speaker 2: I can't believe we're here already. I had fall fatigue,
- 0:26Speaker 2: and now I have fatigue like anticipatory fatigue no no
- 0:32Speaker 2: yes it.
- 0:34Speaker 1: Is too early for that today's episode we are discussing
- 0:38Speaker 1: tis the season for setups which originally aired on the
- 0:40Speaker 1: hallmark channel on friday october 16th and is now streaming
- 0:46Speaker 1: on hallmark plat do we still feel that october 16th
- 0:52Speaker 1: is too early for christmas You know, I just can't
- 0:56Speaker 1: imagine it any other way. But I would be okay
- 1:00Speaker 1: with a November 1 start. I would be perfectly fine.
- 1:03Speaker 1: Two more weeks. With a six-week countdown to Christmas movie schedule.
- 1:08Speaker 1: I think people would disagree, but I am with you.
- 1:12Speaker 1: You're right. But I think there's people on every side
- 1:14Speaker 1: of the fence here. I think there's people that every year,
- 1:17Speaker 1: we've talked about this before, there are some people who
- 1:18Speaker 1: are like, till October 31st, I am fall and Halloween.
- 1:22Speaker 1: And then November 1st, I make the shift. As we know,
- 1:24Speaker 1: I'm a fall Halloween hater. So our Christmas decorations go
- 1:28Speaker 1: up the first week of November. Our Christmas lights are
- 1:30Speaker 1: going on our house October 31st this year. That feels
- 1:33Speaker 1: late for you guys. It is. I'm right, huh? They're
- 1:37Speaker 1: usually up by Halloween. Yeah, it's late. We don't turn
- 1:40Speaker 1: them on. But they are usually on our house by Halloween. Wow.
- 1:45Speaker 1: I know. I think.
- 1:47Speaker 2: I can't wait for you to hear my first impression.
- 1:49Speaker 1: Oh, no. How nervous should I be? Not nervous at all. Oh, good.
- 1:54Speaker 1: Not nervous at all. Okay.
- 1:56Speaker 2: You think I want to start off the season with
- 1:58Speaker 2: like a terrible review? No, because I want people to
- 2:03Speaker 2: come back and listen to us for more episodes.
- 2:05Speaker 1: Well, I also was worried that you were going to
- 2:07Speaker 1: be like, well, I got to set the tone. It
- 2:09Speaker 1: only can go up from here. So maybe you're coming
- 2:12Speaker 1: in like... You have a point there. And I have
- 2:16Speaker 1: thought about that in terms of like my rating system,
- 2:19Speaker 1: because you know, it's all vibes, right? Pure vibes.
- 2:21Speaker 2: But I am thinking about it. And what I'm trying
- 2:25Speaker 2: to do with these movies too is how relatable they.
- 2:28Speaker 1: Are to me. And you'll hear about it in our review. Oh, well,
- 2:34Speaker 1: that should be a separate rating scale, the relatability scale. Well,
- 2:38Speaker 1: too bad. It's going into this scale today. Let me
- 2:41Speaker 1: hear a synopsis.
- 2:42Speaker 2: Did we even talk about what the movie's called? Tis
- 2:45Speaker 2: the Season for Setups?
- 2:46Speaker 1: Yeah, originally aired on Saturday, October 16th. You're right.
- 2:50Speaker 2: Hyper-organized party planner Lexi heads to a ski resort with
- 2:54Speaker 2: her free-spirited mom June and teenage daughter to plan the
- 2:58Speaker 2: lodge's annual Christmas party. There, she clashes with ski instructor Ridge,
- 3:05Speaker 2: but the two team up after noticing a spark between
- 3:08Speaker 2: their parents. Their matchmaking attempts keep turning into foursome dates,
- 3:12Speaker 2: and somewhere along the way, Lexi and Ridge may find
- 3:16Speaker 2: themselves making a match of their own.
- 3:19Speaker 1: This was directed by Jeff Beasley, who continues to crank
- 3:21Speaker 1: him out this season. Last week we had the spirit
- 3:24Speaker 1: of Halloween, and next up is Adopting Saint Nick, premiering
- 3:28Speaker 1: on October 31st. This was written by Elena Zaretsky, who
- 3:32Speaker 1: has just two previous writing credits, which includes the 2017
- 3:37Speaker 1: Rocky Mountain Christmas starring our good friend Christopher Palaha. A
- 3:42Speaker 1: movie we haven't seen. Everybody tells us we need to watch.
- 3:44Speaker 1: You're right. We haven't seen it. And I just want
- 3:46Speaker 1: you to know that when I pronounce these names, I'm
- 3:49Speaker 1: just guessing. I don't know Elena. I have absolutely no idea.
- 3:53Speaker 1: Just giving it my best guess. Okay.
- 3:55Speaker 2: Amanda Shule stars as Lexi. She is forever Jodi Sawyer
- 4:00Speaker 2: to center stage fans like myself. We last saw her
- 4:03Speaker 2: on Hallmark Family Practice Mysteries coming home from 2024. Methinks
- 4:09Speaker 2: that movie didn't get a second run.
- 4:10Speaker 1: Never to be seen again. Victor Webster stars as Ridge,
- 4:14Speaker 1: a longtime Hallmark leading man who currently plays Chad in
- 4:17Speaker 1: the Hannah- Swenson Mysteries. Barbara Nevin stars as June, basically
- 4:23Speaker 1: Hallmark royalty, best known as Dolores in the Hannah Swenson Mysteries,
- 4:27Speaker 1: as well as Chesapeake Shores and every other movie where
- 4:30Speaker 1: they need a chic mom or grandma. Verity Marks plays Piper.
- 4:34Speaker 1: She's a younger actress who's been in several Hallmark movies
- 4:37Speaker 1: and many Jeff Beasley movies. John B.
- 4:40Speaker 2: Lowe stars as Dan. He's a veteran Canadian actor with
- 4:44Speaker 2: a long list of Hallmark credits, including plenty of of
- 4:47Speaker 2: Jeff Beasley movies.
- 4:48Speaker 1: Hey, Wendy, what is your first impression of tis the
- 4:51Speaker 1: season for setups?
- 4:54Speaker 2: As the queen of no fun, I think my 2027
- 4:57Speaker 2: resolution is to rebrand myself as the guru of fun.
- 5:06Speaker 1: With a 2026 Halloween costume going as the vibe killer.
- 5:10Speaker 1: That's what she calls herself. That's funny. I should be
- 5:14Speaker 1: the vibe killer. No, that's what she calls herself. I know.
- 5:17Speaker 1: I found her very relatable. Oh, me too. But, I mean,
- 5:22Speaker 1: Jeff Beasley movies make me stop and think. Honestly, they
- 5:25Speaker 1: make me stop and think. I know. Okay. What's your
- 5:29Speaker 1: first impression? My first impression is Elena Zaretsky said, oh, uno,
- 5:34Speaker 1: reverse on the parent trap situation at the ski lodge. Oh,
- 5:40Speaker 1: I'm going to talk. I'm going to talk about it.
- 5:42Speaker 2: I just had a feeling, like I just had a,
- 5:44Speaker 2: you know, like Lacey's the queen of Christmas. I want
- 5:46Speaker 2: to share this as queen of no fun.
- 5:49Speaker 1: Should we put that in our Etsy shop? Did you
- 5:53Speaker 1: see that I put a 100% fake snow sweatshirt in
- 5:55Speaker 1: our Etsy shop? I did not, but I love that.
- 5:58Speaker 1: Do I need to order that for myself? I'm in
- 6:00Speaker 1: the process, friends. By the time this episode airs, there
- 6:04Speaker 1: should be a full... Please add a Queen of No
- 6:07Speaker 1: Fun t-shirt in there too. Can't wait. Will you please?
- 6:09Speaker 1: Just like big font with a little crooked crown on
- 6:12Speaker 1: the Q. Oh my God. I love it. Please. Just
- 6:16Speaker 1: call me a Canva graphic designer, baby.
- 6:19Speaker 2: Please.
- 6:20Speaker 1: I need it. Queen of No Fun. Let's talk about
- 6:23Speaker 1: this movie. What we liked. What we liked. This is
- 6:25Speaker 1: set with me a little bit. Yes. Same.
- 6:28Speaker 2: And you're going to hear some in my wishes, like
- 6:31Speaker 2: what didn't work for me, but as a whole worked
- 6:34Speaker 2: for me.
- 6:36Speaker 1: Yes.
- 6:36Speaker 2: I thought the parenting story ended up being much more
- 6:40Speaker 2: interesting than the romance between Lexi and Ridge and like
- 6:45Speaker 2: the parents, Dan and June.
- 6:46Speaker 1: As per usual.
- 6:48Speaker 2: Well, we just talked about it on our Patreon. I
- 6:50Speaker 2: was like, the romance is the least interesting thing to
- 6:52Speaker 2: me in any movie.
- 6:54Speaker 1: I feel like I have, like, little dinosaurs. You know? Yeah.
- 7:00Speaker 1: The romance isn't always the least interesting part for me.
- 7:03Speaker 1: But in this case, because of who we are, because
- 7:05Speaker 1: of our phase of life, because— I'm dead inside. Yeah.
- 7:09Speaker 1: I found Lexi so relatable on multiple levels. But when
- 7:12Speaker 1: she talks about her regret about the way that she's
- 7:16Speaker 1: parented Piper and like, was I not present enough? And
- 7:20Speaker 1: I just, I have that thought all the time. All
- 7:23Speaker 1: the time. But I felt no judgment. I think I'm
- 7:27Speaker 1: going to cry. Go ahead. Towards the character of Lexi
- 7:31Speaker 1: because she was doing what needed to be done. Absolutely. Absolutely.
- 7:37Speaker 2: I think it's because of the stage of life that
- 7:39Speaker 2: I'm in right now. You and I both, we have
- 7:43Speaker 2: kids who are away at college. And I'm watching this movie,
- 7:45Speaker 2: I'm reflecting like, man, their childhood went fast, right? And
- 7:49Speaker 2: I have all these regrets of like, why didn't I
- 7:54Speaker 2: get on the floor and play with her more? Why
- 7:56Speaker 2: did I think that the house needed to be cleaned
- 7:59Speaker 2: over that? And so I have all these regrets of like,
- 8:03Speaker 2: in my head, I wanted it to be Controlled and
- 8:07Speaker 2: perfect and whatever, but then missed out on all this fun,
- 8:12Speaker 2: and I'm quoting fun stuff.
- 8:14Speaker 1: Because it wouldn't have been fun to you. It's not
- 8:17Speaker 1: that it wouldn't have been fun to me. It's that
- 8:19Speaker 1: I put more importance on other things. And now with
- 8:23Speaker 1: a little bit of hindsight, those things are not really
- 8:28Speaker 1: that important. So this storyline really hits. hit me in
- 8:34Speaker 1: a tender spot. You know, it hit me in a
- 8:36Speaker 1: tender spot too, but I almost for different reasons because
- 8:40Speaker 1: not for different reasons, but I had a different reaction
- 8:42Speaker 1: to it because I did understand, like you said, I
- 8:45Speaker 1: understood Lexi saying like, man, I have regrets about, I
- 8:49Speaker 1: have parental regrets. And I understand that because I have
- 8:51Speaker 1: that every single day. And I think all the time,
- 8:54Speaker 1: like I have one kid in college, I have one
- 8:55Speaker 1: kid still at home and I'm trying to walk that line.
- 8:58Speaker 1: But also she's like, yeah, my husband, Her dad gets
- 9:02Speaker 1: to be the fun parent and I get to be
- 9:04Speaker 1: the vibe killer. And that's me a lot of times.
- 9:09Speaker 1: And my feeling watching Lexi was like, but someone had
- 9:14Speaker 1: to get those things done. And it's not even so
- 9:16Speaker 1: much choosing cleaning the house over getting on the floor
- 9:19Speaker 1: and playing. Sometimes it's she has to work. Yeah. Was
- 9:24Speaker 1: she perhaps too focused? Am I perhaps too focused on
- 9:27Speaker 1: the to-do list of life? 100%. That is who I am.
- 9:30Speaker 1: I'm a lists person. I like to get things done.
- 9:33Speaker 1: But at the same time, she's single parenting this daughter
- 9:38Speaker 1: and life needed to happen. She's the primary parent in
- 9:42Speaker 1: this situation. So I gave her and by extension tried
- 9:47Speaker 1: to give myself some grace. Same. Okay. Same.
- 9:53Speaker 2: What I loved about this movie as well, kind of
- 9:57Speaker 2: in the same thread, is that it doesn't just give
- 10:00Speaker 2: us one version of motherhood.
- 10:01Speaker 1: We have June, who is, I don't want to say kooky.
- 10:05Speaker 1: Kooky is not the, what's the better word to describe it? Free-spirited. Free-spirited.
- 10:10Speaker 1: A little more easygoing. And both versions are okay. Okay. Right?
- 10:17Speaker 2: They're perfectly acceptable. And I love that they have that conversation.
- 10:21Speaker 2: The conversation between Lexi and her mom, June, I thought
- 10:25Speaker 2: was so special about, like, I was this kind of parent.
- 10:30Speaker 2: You're this kind of parent. I don't blame you for that.
- 10:33Speaker 2: I don't blame you for that. Like, it was just
- 10:36Speaker 2: really special, I thought.
- 10:37Speaker 1: Yeah, the conversations at the end that Lexi and Ridge
- 10:41Speaker 1: have with their parents, Lexi's conversation was more powerful to me.
- 10:44Speaker 1: And her story is obviously the bigger one. That was
- 10:47Speaker 1: really a highlight for me when they're both getting the
- 10:51Speaker 1: chance to explain themselves, getting the chance to apologize a
- 10:54Speaker 1: little bit. I found those stories very powerful. And when
- 11:00Speaker 1: June is explaining the reality of why her relationship ended
- 11:05Speaker 1: was a little bit different than the way Lexi had
- 11:08Speaker 1: internalized it. It was really well written for....
- 11:13Speaker 2: I think a really fleshed out story for a writer
- 11:18Speaker 2: who's only written three movies.
- 11:20Speaker 1: Yes.
- 11:20Speaker 2: You know, I mean, obviously, like, there are writing credits
- 11:23Speaker 2: on IMDb, say, three movies. This person could have written tons.
- 11:27Speaker 1: Of things and it just... Anyway, that's my point. Has
- 11:30Speaker 1: had three movies made. Yes, exactly.
- 11:33Speaker 2: There was a scene between Wowie Zowie Webster, that's just
- 11:38Speaker 2: my name for him, Ridge and Lexi, and Lexi says
- 11:42Speaker 2: to him, like, oh, I have parental regret. And he's like,
- 11:46Speaker 2: what is that? What was so great here is that
- 11:50Speaker 2: he he's like, there's still time. Like there isn't a
- 11:54Speaker 2: eulogy for Piper's childhood, right?
- 11:56Speaker 1: He's like, wake up.
- 11:58Speaker 2: He didn't say wake up, but to me, it was
- 12:01Speaker 2: Victor Webster telling me, wake up, Wendy. Like you still
- 12:03Speaker 2: have time. Like you have a, hopefully a full adulthood
- 12:07Speaker 2: of your child to be part of their lives and
- 12:11Speaker 2: have fun and be, do all the things that work
- 12:15Speaker 2: on those like regrets that you've maybe are hanging on
- 12:18Speaker 2: you as when they were little.
- 12:20Speaker 1: That's why the 18 summers nonsense makes me so mad
- 12:24Speaker 1: because your relationship with your child doesn't end when they
- 12:28Speaker 1: transfer into adulthood. I mean, your child has been in
- 12:31Speaker 1: college for a month and you've already had three weekends
- 12:34Speaker 1: in which you guys have gotten to, and obviously it's
- 12:36Speaker 1: not going to continue that every two weeks you get
- 12:38Speaker 1: to see her, but like you've taken trips and you've
- 12:40Speaker 1: gone to visit her and you are developing this whole
- 12:43Speaker 1: new relationship. Yeah. With her, even though her primary residence
- 12:47Speaker 1: isn't in your home all year long. Right. And you're
- 12:51Speaker 1: living that firsthand, and that's such an important message. There's
- 12:58Speaker 1: not a timeline on this. Right. You still get to
- 13:03Speaker 1: have a relationship with them.
- 13:04Speaker 2: Why do you think there's that narrative that we stop
- 13:07Speaker 2: being parents when our kids– Turn 18 or graduate from
- 13:13Speaker 2: high school or go away to college or go away,
- 13:16Speaker 2: move out or.
- 13:17Speaker 1: Well, that's a good question. But do you think it
- 13:19Speaker 1: has to do with, like, you have less control? Like,
- 13:23Speaker 1: their lives are not for you to mold when they
- 13:27Speaker 1: become adults. You're not making decisions. And so... It does
- 13:31Speaker 1: take a little bit more work to be present. For me,
- 13:35Speaker 1: I don't necessarily, like, I am a control freak, but
- 13:38Speaker 1: I don't necessarily want to control every aspect of my
- 13:40Speaker 1: child's life. Watching them make their own decisions and figure
- 13:43Speaker 1: things out on their own is so exciting for me.
- 13:47Speaker 1: The idea that, like, it's over once their day-to-day is
- 13:52Speaker 1: no longer managed by me feels a little bit silly. Yeah,
- 13:56Speaker 1: it does, right? Yeah. Yeah, and I think also maybe
- 14:00Speaker 1: we've redefined a little bit what relationships with adult children
- 14:02Speaker 1: look like or what they can look like. It's not
- 14:05Speaker 1: like you move out and then you just see your
- 14:08Speaker 1: parents on the holidays. Or it certainly doesn't have to
- 14:10Speaker 1: be like that. It doesn't have to be, yeah. I
- 14:15Speaker 1: think probably part of the problem, though, is that some
- 14:18Speaker 1: people have a really hard time transitioning into that adult
- 14:21Speaker 1: relationship with their children. They're so used to being in
- 14:23Speaker 1: control and having their opinion be the one that matters
- 14:25Speaker 1: most that it can be hard. for them to make
- 14:29Speaker 1: the transition. Deep thoughts.
- 14:32Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 14:33Speaker 1: Wow. Let's talk about some less deep things.
- 14:36Speaker 2: I thought Verity Marks was so good as Piper, the teenager.
- 14:40Speaker 1: I thought she was great.
- 14:41Speaker 2: This felt like it was written for an actual modern
- 14:45Speaker 2: teenager rather than, like, a 48-year-old writer trying to, what
- 14:52Speaker 2: they think a teenager is like. And I thought she
- 14:55Speaker 2: played it so well. There was a lot of, like,
- 14:57Speaker 2: Facial expressions and reactions when Ridge is like, oh, I
- 15:01Speaker 2: got the tea.
- 15:04Speaker 1: Like she was so embarrassed for him. Yeah.
- 15:07Speaker 1: I just love that. I thought that was very real.
- 15:10Speaker 1: Really good.
- 15:11Speaker 2: Additionally, I really like the casting of Piper and Lexi
- 15:15Speaker 2: as mother and daughter. Piper being biracial is simply just
- 15:21Speaker 2: a part of this family.
- 15:22Speaker 1: Family.
- 15:23Speaker 2: The movie doesn't need to stop and explain it. It
- 15:26Speaker 2: just is what it is. We don't need any backstory
- 15:29Speaker 2: about Piper's dad.
- 15:30Speaker 1: Or anything like that. It just made sense. It reflects
- 15:34Speaker 1: what real families look like. I liked that. Yeah, me too.
- 15:39Speaker 1: It was one of the things I thought about immediately
- 15:41Speaker 1: when she comes on screen. Here's some things I liked. One,
- 15:45Speaker 1: Ridge and Lexi are very different, and I was a
- 15:48Speaker 1: little bit worried about That in our first movie, Out
- 15:50Speaker 1: of the Gate, we were going to get an enemies
- 15:51Speaker 1: to lover situation. And we do not. It's a whiff
- 15:56Speaker 1: of it. So when they first meet in the lodge
- 16:01Speaker 1: and she says... She's confrontational. Well, what is it that
- 16:05Speaker 1: you don't think that's mean? I don't know. It's a
- 16:08Speaker 1: little bit not nice. I have thought about this and
- 16:13Speaker 1: I think you're right. But I also wonder... If that
- 16:18Speaker 1: was less towards him and more, she's just so in
- 16:20Speaker 1: her head about who she is and the way she's
- 16:24Speaker 1: perceived as the vibe killer, as this person with parental regrets,
- 16:28Speaker 1: as the one who's no fun. I think that's all
- 16:32Speaker 1: on her. I think you might be right. And I
- 16:35Speaker 1: think even when her daughter says to grandma, like, oh,
- 16:38Speaker 1: she's always choosing work over fun. That's like such a
- 16:42Speaker 1: teenage thing to do, just like to complain about that. It's,
- 16:46Speaker 1: you know, my kids have never said like, oh, I
- 16:47Speaker 1: hate you. But they've certainly said they make big generalizations.
- 16:53Speaker 1: And I think the mom took it to heart. And
- 16:55Speaker 1: I did love that Grandma June defended her in that moment.
- 16:59Speaker 1: Even though Grandma June is more of the fun one.
- 17:02Speaker 1: But I agree with you. That confrontation... I initially saw
- 17:08Speaker 1: as contentious and I did reframe it a little bit
- 17:11Speaker 1: for myself. Later on, there are a lot of moments
- 17:14Speaker 1: where they approach things differently or he offers a different
- 17:17Speaker 1: point of view and she just accepts it. She's like, oh,
- 17:21Speaker 1: that's a good idea. Or, oh, here you do this.
- 17:24Speaker 1: The two of them don't really have a lot of
- 17:26Speaker 1: conflict with each other, which I like. Because as I've
- 17:32Speaker 1: said a hundred times, it's very hard to do Enemies
- 17:35Speaker 1: to lovers, well, in 80 minutes, where you got to
- 17:37Speaker 1: convince me these two hate each other, and now they
- 17:39Speaker 1: like each other. And it's– that takes time. Enemies to
- 17:43Speaker 1: lovers kind of needs to be a little bit of
- 17:45Speaker 1: a slow burn, and it's hard to slow burn in
- 17:47Speaker 1: 80 minutes. Yeah.
- 17:48Speaker 2: I mean, have you ever met somebody that, like, right
- 17:50Speaker 2: off the bat, you're like, I don't like you. And then, like,
- 17:53Speaker 2: your first instincts are usually right, right?
- 17:56Speaker 1: Right? Probably. Yeah.
- 17:59Speaker 2: It doesn't– you don't ever just turn around and– three
- 18:03Speaker 2: days and be like, oh, now I really like this
- 18:06Speaker 2: person and I'm in love or I even want to
- 18:08Speaker 2: hang out with you.
- 18:09Speaker 1: Yeah. Like the kind of person who says like, nice
- 18:11Speaker 1: to meet you. And you're like, I've met you seven times.
- 18:13Speaker 1: Stop that. Yeah. Yeah. I don't know if that's ever
- 18:16Speaker 1: happened to me, of course. Okay.
- 18:19Speaker 2: I have just two more likes. Barbara Niven, always lovely.
- 18:24Speaker 2: June was very Barbara Niven-y.
- 18:27Speaker 1: Yeah. If that makes sense. She was a little Dolores Swenson.
- 18:31Speaker 1: That's in my wishes. Okay. Leave it alone. But, you know,
- 18:35Speaker 1: a little Dolores-y. Yeah. But it's okay. Like, I love Barbara.
- 18:43Speaker 1: What's not to love? She's great. Also, you know, we
- 18:49Speaker 1: talk about the smooch-o-meter, right?
- 18:51Speaker 2: Smooch-o-meter.
- 18:51Speaker 1: The smooch-o-meter barely hit.
- 18:58Speaker 2: Anything in here. However, I really did enjoy Lexi and
- 19:04Speaker 2: Ridge's first kiss. He like embraces her in this hug,
- 19:06Speaker 2: which I felt was very intimate because like the top
- 19:09Speaker 2: of his face was on her forehead. And I was like,
- 19:12Speaker 2: these two barely know each other. This is very intimate
- 19:14Speaker 2: where we're going. And then they just have this very
- 19:16Speaker 2: nice lip on lip kiss. It wasn't, you know, overly
- 19:23Speaker 2: smooch worthy, but nice. And normal, I thought.
- 19:28Speaker 1: I want to talk about that moment. Oh, you didn't
- 19:31Speaker 1: like it? I loved it. Pre-kiss, they're in like a
- 19:34Speaker 1: side hug. And like you said, his mouth is like
- 19:36Speaker 1: right at her hairline. And I was like, give the
- 19:39Speaker 1: people what they want, Webster. Because the people wanted the
- 19:43Speaker 1: forehead kiss. Every book talker in the world, we want
- 19:48Speaker 1: that forehead kiss. A hair talk at the kiss, that's
- 19:50Speaker 1: all we need. It was right there. I mean, his
- 19:52Speaker 1: lips were practically touching our hair. I wanted it.
- 19:56Speaker 2: Skin.
- 19:56Speaker 1: I wanted it. I thought it was great. Loved that scene.
- 20:00Speaker 1: Did you like the kiss or were you wanting something more?
- 20:03Speaker 1: The kiss was fine. The kiss was fine, but I really...
- 20:07Speaker 1: I didn't even need a sexier kiss. The forehead kiss
- 20:11Speaker 1: would have been so intimate. Mm-hmm. Yeah. I just thought
- 20:15Speaker 1: the lip-on-lip was a totally reasonable kiss for what stage
- 20:20Speaker 1: of the... 100%. We're macking it out, you know? They're
- 20:24Speaker 1: not there yet. No. No. Macking it out, man. We're
- 20:27Speaker 1: showing our age.
- 20:28Speaker 2: I know.
- 20:28Speaker 1: 48, baby. Yeah. Guys, if you're not Patreon subscribers, you
- 20:38Speaker 1: are really missing out. There's a couple moments that I like.
- 20:44Speaker 1: There's a moment where Lexi and Ridge arrive and Ridge
- 20:48Speaker 1: is like, oh, we're going to give our parents like
- 20:50Speaker 1: a little bit of alone time. And he just takes
- 20:52Speaker 1: her elbow and leads her away. Something about it was
- 20:55Speaker 1: very intimate to me. I'm not sure what it was.
- 20:58Speaker 1: And the snowshoe rescue scene. Many moments in this movie
- 21:06Speaker 1: were relatable, but this one to me as an anxiety
- 21:09Speaker 1: girly was perhaps one of the most relatable because Ridge
- 21:14Speaker 1: and Lexi are on their way to rescue their parents.
- 21:17Speaker 1: They're stuck in a snowdrift. And he's like, man, it's
- 21:20Speaker 1: beautiful out here. And she's just like trudging along. She's like,
- 21:22Speaker 1: I got to get there. I got to get there.
- 21:23Speaker 1: I got to save my mom from mortal danger. Yes.
- 21:26Speaker 1: And he's like, first of all, she's not in mortal danger.
- 21:28Speaker 1: They're stuck up to their waist. And he's not snide
- 21:31Speaker 1: about it. My tone is snide. He's not snide about it.
- 21:33Speaker 1: He's like, they're okay. If there is a problem that
- 21:39Speaker 1: needs to be solved, I can't focus. It doesn't matter
- 21:43Speaker 1: if I've got to do this long walk to the
- 21:45Speaker 1: woods and there's nothing else to do but look around.
- 21:46Speaker 1: So I might as well enjoy it. That doesn't matter.
- 21:49Speaker 1: Once the problem has been solved, then I can look around.
- 21:51Speaker 1: And I very much appreciated that she was like in
- 21:54Speaker 1: problem solving mode, all business. And then she kind of
- 21:57Speaker 1: was like, okay. I can, two things can be true.
- 22:01Speaker 1: I can enjoy the view and go save my mom.
- 22:05Speaker 1: What are you thinking about? I'm thinking about, who snowshoes?
- 22:09Speaker 1: That's too much work. Yeah, 100%. I was like, that's
- 22:14Speaker 1: not fun. Yeah, why did we not take a snowmobile
- 22:17Speaker 1: out there? Too much exercise. Can you imagine?
- 22:20Speaker 2: Like, I'm not anti-exercise, but I was like, that is,
- 22:23Speaker 2: it's trudging through snow on like Tennis rackets, essentially.
- 22:28Speaker 1: Like, never. It doesn't look fun to me either. Doesn't
- 22:31Speaker 1: look fun to me either. Like, I wouldn't do, like,
- 22:34Speaker 1: what's the ski walking on the skis? Cross-country skiing? Is
- 22:38Speaker 1: that what it is, where it's kind of just like,
- 22:40Speaker 1: on skis? Yeah. They're not like this. They're just doing this. Well,
- 22:44Speaker 1: they have poles, but it's on flat ground. Too hard.
- 22:48Speaker 1: You know it doesn't look fun to me. But also,
- 22:50Speaker 1: I don't find hiking enjoyable either. Oh, I like hiking.
- 22:53Speaker 1: Did you know that? I didn't. When was the last
- 22:56Speaker 1: time you hiked? I don't know, but I enjoy it.
- 23:00Speaker 1: I like walking. I like the idea of a hike,
- 23:04Speaker 1: but really only for the first 20 minutes. Yeah. I mean, notoriously,
- 23:09Speaker 1: I remember you telling me you crying in Oregon on
- 23:12Speaker 1: a hike. The Multnomah Falls hike's no joke. The switchbacks
- 23:15Speaker 1: up at the top. No, I don't want to do that.
- 23:17Speaker 1: I need to do like a gingerly, like nice trail hike.
- 23:21Speaker 1: I was in like the height of my sciatica. I
- 23:24Speaker 1: was in a lot of pain climbing up that damn... Anyway. Okay.
- 23:30Speaker 1: But also. I often cry on a hike. Put me
- 23:33Speaker 1: on a snowmobile. That's fun. Yeah. Arms wrapped around Ridge.
- 23:40Speaker 1: Hard to have a conversation, though, with helmets on and that.
- 23:42Speaker 1: Don't care. You know. Oh, yeah, baby. Have you been
- 23:48Speaker 1: on a snowmobile? Nope. I have. They're kind of scary.
- 23:52Speaker 1: How is it any different from like an ATV? I
- 23:55Speaker 1: think an ATV would be scary, too, although I've never
- 23:57Speaker 1: been on one of those. It's so fun. It's just like,
- 23:59Speaker 1: you know, you're slipping inside and all over the snow.
- 24:00Speaker 2: Jet ski.
- 24:01Speaker 1: Any different than a jet ski. Well, a jet ski,
- 24:03Speaker 1: if you fall off, is less dangerous than a snowmobile.
- 24:06Speaker 1: Because you fall into the water? Yes. Well, you fall
- 24:10Speaker 1: into soft snow, like, hopefully. Snow is ice. There are trees. Okay. Look,
- 24:17Speaker 1: a family member of mine was very severely injured in
- 24:20Speaker 1: a snowmobile accident. Oh, that's terrible. I'm sorry. So.
- 24:24Speaker 1: I'm just a big baby. I'm afraid of everything. It's
- 24:26Speaker 1: a little bit scary. You're not afraid of everything. I'm
- 24:29Speaker 1: afraid of a lot of things. I'm afraid of snowmobiling.
- 24:32Speaker 1: Are we on wishes? Where are we at? No, we're
- 24:34Speaker 1: still in links. Okay, go ahead. I love when Piper says,
- 24:36Speaker 1: you're so cool, Mom. And Lexi goes, I am? Cute. Yeah,
- 24:40Speaker 1: I need more moments like that in my real life. God, same. Hey,
- 24:44Speaker 1: let's take a quick break and we'll come back to
- 24:45Speaker 1: talk about our wishes. We'll be right back. All right, Wendy,
- 24:56Speaker 1: what'd you wish for?
- 24:58Speaker 2: For the first movie of Countdown to Christmas, I needed
- 25:02Speaker 2: a little more fanfare, a little more kickoff.
- 25:06Speaker 1: And what would that have looked like to you?
- 25:07Speaker 2: This feels like a very perfectly pleasant movie, sort of
- 25:13Speaker 2: middle of the road, a little bit deeper than... Maybe
- 25:17Speaker 2: I'm making it more deeper than it really.
- 25:18Speaker 1: Is, but... I don't know. Just like... Would you have
- 25:23Speaker 1: swapped Saturday's movie with Friday's movie for the kickoff? You
- 25:27Speaker 1: would have. Yeah. That Bears movie? Even though the Saturday
- 25:31Speaker 1: slot is the more watched slot. Well, I mean, I'm
- 25:34Speaker 1: not a programmer at Hallmark. Right. So I don't know.
- 25:37Speaker 1: But I don't know. Just like... Yeah. Viewer experience is
- 25:43Speaker 1: different than what's best for ratings. Yeah. Yeah.
- 25:48Speaker 2: I almost feel like this is a better Sunday night movie.
- 25:52Speaker 2: And then maybe they should put a little bit more
- 25:55Speaker 2: kind of Hallmark tradition.
- 25:58Speaker 1: Tradition. Classically Christmas. Yeah. Yeah. But, you know, that's me.
- 26:03Speaker 1: I just needed like. Yeah. Does this feel like something
- 26:05Speaker 1: that may have been over on Movies and Mysteries where
- 26:08Speaker 1: like the family storylines deeper than the romance storyline? I
- 26:11Speaker 1: think so. But I think there's room for it all
- 26:13Speaker 1: on Hallmark Channel. It's fine.
- 26:14Speaker 2: Like.
- 26:15Speaker 1: Yeah, absolutely. I just think that was where the division
- 26:17Speaker 1: used to lie. Yeah, for sure. For sure.
- 26:20Speaker 2: You know, I love me some Victor Webster. You know,
- 26:24Speaker 2: but this particular version of Hey Brach. Have you considered
- 26:28Speaker 2: relaxing a little bit? You know, version middle-aged, no shade
- 26:36Speaker 2: to Victor Webster. I honestly have no idea how old
- 26:38Speaker 2: he is, but like, you know, he's a man of
- 26:40Speaker 2: a certain age, you know? It just didn't totally land
- 26:48Speaker 2: for me. There were moments that landed for sure, but
- 26:53Speaker 2: I think I like Victor Webster as Chad.
- 26:56Speaker 1: Like, I like that, that actor.
- 27:01Speaker 2: And like, you know, of course, as an actor, I
- 27:03Speaker 2: was thinking about this. They probably don't want to play
- 27:05Speaker 2: that certain character all the time. So maybe it was
- 27:09Speaker 2: fun for Victor to be a little more, hey, brah,
- 27:14Speaker 2: ski instructor.
- 27:16Speaker 1: I want Victor Webster as his character in Working Moms.
- 27:21Speaker 1: Not on Hallmark, baby. He's a bad boy. God.
- 27:26Speaker 2: Give me a Hallmark Plus series with that Victor Webster.
- 27:31Speaker 1: Yeah. I would super be into that. But, you know.
- 27:40Speaker 2: Also, there was this element of tightly wound woman, relaxed
- 27:46Speaker 2: guy who's got all the answers that.
- 27:50Speaker 1: Gets on my nerves a little bit. Of course. I
- 27:52Speaker 1: knew it would. I knew it would. Oh, you knew
- 27:54Speaker 1: it would for me? Yeah. But I do appreciate that
- 27:57Speaker 1: he's not the one who solves all her problems. Yeah.
- 27:59Speaker 1: I mean, he gets some good advice. Yes. But she, yes.
- 28:05Speaker 1: But for real, it was, all I could think was like, hey, bruh. Well,
- 28:11Speaker 1: our news and notes alluded to it, but Amanda Scholl
- 28:15Speaker 1: is that girl. Girlfriend can dance. And it is truly
- 28:17Speaker 1: tragic that they made her, like, flap around goofily up there.
- 28:20Speaker 1: I was like, why did we not do a nod
- 28:23Speaker 1: to her iconic center stage character? I think I actually—
- 28:25Speaker 1: Have her pretending to rev a motorcycle or something. They
- 28:28Speaker 1: should have. They should have put an Easter egg in there, right? Yeah,
- 28:32Speaker 1: I think so, too. Girl can dance. I think so, too.
- 28:35Speaker 1: I think she has, like, actual ballet training.
- 28:38Speaker 2: Ballet training. Yes!
- 28:39Speaker 1: Yeah. And they were having her do, like, the pony
- 28:43Speaker 1: or whatever.
- 28:43Speaker 2: I don't know. Actually, Barbara Niven was doing the pony
- 28:47Speaker 2: at one point. They were like saying, the pony, the pony.
- 28:49Speaker 2: They were making a TikTok or whatever with the granddaughter.
- 28:52Speaker 2: But yes, when they were just having their little dance
- 28:55Speaker 2: scene around the bedroom, I was like, they should have
- 28:58Speaker 2: dropped an Easter egg in there.
- 28:59Speaker 1: Jeff Beasley, this is on you, my friend. I love you.
- 29:04Speaker 1: Somehow I doubt that Center Stage is one of like
- 29:07Speaker 1: Jeff Beasley's, you know, comfort watches. It's mine. Mine too.
- 29:13Speaker 1: What's not to love? Here's my biggest wish. Okay. Ridge
- 29:21Speaker 1: and Lexi have the audacity to get mad at their
- 29:25Speaker 1: parents for trying to matchmake them after Ridge and Lexi
- 29:29Speaker 1: did the exact same thing. Yeah, it's kind of silly.
- 29:32Speaker 1: And they manufactured these. They're so mad. They literally did
- 29:36Speaker 1: the same thing. It makes no sense to me. Why
- 29:39Speaker 1: are you so mad, bro? They got outdone by the doer.
- 29:43Speaker 1: What's the saying? You can't outdo the doer. I don't think,
- 29:47Speaker 1: I don't. They got done by June and Dan.
- 29:51Speaker 2: We're pissed that June and Dan executed it better.
- 29:56Speaker 1: Than they did? The only reason it seems like they
- 29:59Speaker 1: executed it better is because June and Dan were in
- 30:01Speaker 1: a secret relationship. They were already together.
- 30:03Speaker 2: That's my biggest wish.
- 30:05Speaker 1: Why is that a secret? Who cares? These are... Full
- 30:09Speaker 1: adults with adult children. Yeah, and Lexi would have been
- 30:13Speaker 1: thrilled to know that her mother wiggas the entire movie.
- 30:15Speaker 1: She's like, Mom, it just makes me so nervous that
- 30:17Speaker 1: you're out here having all these adventures alone. Mom, I
- 30:20Speaker 1: worry about when you travel because June has all these misadventures.
- 30:23Speaker 1: And even Dan was like, maybe if you planned better,
- 30:25Speaker 1: you wouldn't have all of these issues. But, yeah. Why
- 30:29Speaker 1: did they keep it secret for a year? Great question.
- 30:31Speaker 1: Do you think her daughter's going to be like, oh, Mom,
- 30:34Speaker 1: you're not allowed to be in a relationship. Yeah. No.
- 30:38Speaker 2: Dumb. What needed to happen was Lexi should have been like, Mom,
- 30:45Speaker 2: do you want to marry this guy because you fought
- 30:48Speaker 2: big time with him since we've been here for four days?
- 30:51Speaker 2: Did June and Dan not argue a lot?
- 30:55Speaker 1: They did seem to argue a little bit, yeah. Over
- 30:57Speaker 1: stupid stuff? Yeah, and it's all the same kind of
- 31:00Speaker 1: stuff that perhaps, you know, he's basically her dad. Yeah.
- 31:06Speaker 1: The by-the-book guy. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, so when they come out, like,
- 31:11Speaker 1: they get engaged, I was like, no, especially. I would
- 31:16Speaker 1: never get married again. So if I was, say, this character. June.
- 31:23Speaker 1: You have your place. I have my place. But we
- 31:26Speaker 1: go out every night. We have dinner together every night. Like, whatever.
- 31:30Speaker 1: Every night. Well, couple nights a week. Couple nights a week. Yeah,
- 31:34Speaker 1: couple nights a week. Because June's very independent, right?
- 31:37Speaker 2: Right. june's a fun time gal you telling me june
- 31:40Speaker 2: doesn't have 25 girlfriends that she's like.
- 31:42Speaker 1: She got a mahjong group she got a book club
- 31:45Speaker 1: she got a wine club she got a dance club
- 31:47Speaker 1: she got a whatever yeah.
- 31:51Speaker 2: I would i would say no to this proposal me
- 31:54Speaker 2: too that's why i was like no don't get married
- 31:56Speaker 2: but i'm i am who i am No.
- 31:59Speaker 1: I'm with you. I would never get married again. That's
- 32:01Speaker 1: why Megan and I are going to end up living
- 32:03Speaker 1: in like a retirement community like next door to each other.
- 32:06Speaker 1: We're going to live in the over 55 community. Over
- 32:09Speaker 1: 75 community, babe. What are you talking about? I'm nearly 55.
- 32:14Speaker 1: We'll have our dogs and we'll have a gate between
- 32:16Speaker 1: our two backyards so we can go visit each other.
- 32:19Speaker 2: And then we retreat to our own spots when we
- 32:22Speaker 2: need like our recharge alone time.
- 32:25Speaker 1: That's right. You know. Yeah. It's going to be amazing.
- 32:29Speaker 1: My last wish is that Tinsel and Tal is such
- 32:34Speaker 1: a huge nope for me. I'm all out on humiliating dares. Oh.
- 32:41Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't like truth or dare either. But I
- 32:43Speaker 2: did think it was kind of cute. I would never
- 32:46Speaker 2: do that karaoke either.
- 32:47Speaker 1: Oh, karaoke? No. Like, you didn't see us on the
- 32:52Speaker 1: Hallmark Christmas Cruise doing karaoke. We would never do that.
- 32:55Speaker 1: Would you ever do karaoke? First of all, who's singing
- 32:58Speaker 1: Jingle Bells? It's Karoloke is the problem. Karoloke. It's Christmas Karoloke. Karoloke, karaoke.
- 33:06Speaker 1: I'm not doing either of those things. Yeah, no, both
- 33:09Speaker 1: are humiliating for me, but I think Karoloke is worse. Because?
- 33:15Speaker 1: Because who wants to get up and sing a Christmas carol?
- 33:19Speaker 1: Not Jingle Bells. Jingle Bells is the worst Christmas song
- 33:21Speaker 1: there is. I don't know that I have an opinion
- 33:26Speaker 1: about that. Up on the housetop, reindeer paws. Me neither.
- 33:31Speaker 1: What about, like, grandma got run over by a reindeer? But, wait,
- 33:37Speaker 1: did they do another? Oh, oh, shout out. The escape
- 33:40Speaker 1: room I thought was great. Oh, my gosh. Nicely executed. Disagree. What? What?
- 33:49Speaker 1: Have you ever done an escape room?
- 33:50Speaker 2: Yes.
- 33:52Speaker 1: Twice. I thought they did it wrong. How so? First
- 33:57Speaker 1: of all. Nicely executed, nice set, time and energy was
- 34:03Speaker 1: put into it. But escape rooms aren't done like a
- 34:06Speaker 1: scavenger hunt. Yes, they are. No, they're not. They're not like,
- 34:10Speaker 1: find the next clue and unroll it and then go
- 34:13Speaker 1: find the next clue. It's like, oh, what? The one
- 34:15Speaker 1: I did was at Irvine Spectrum. It's like, find a
- 34:19Speaker 1: clue and unroll it and then go find the next clue.
- 34:21Speaker 1: Because every escape room I've done is like, walk into
- 34:23Speaker 1: this room. Oh, look, here's numbers on this board. Oh, look,
- 34:26Speaker 1: those numbers are in this painting. Oh, look, those numbers must... Okay, well,
- 34:32Speaker 1: I did like at the end where they find the
- 34:34Speaker 1: key in the... Whatever the final clue was. And I
- 34:41Speaker 1: liked that they tied it all together. Did you feel like...
- 34:45Speaker 1: Are they going to open in time? Oh, that was
- 34:47Speaker 1: nicely shot. Yeah. Like the countdown. Yeah. Yes, I was
- 34:50Speaker 1: nervous for them. Are they going to get out? Yes.
- 34:53Speaker 2: I did an escape room where we needed more time
- 34:56Speaker 2: and they just gave us more time.
- 34:57Speaker 1: Yeah, of course. And then they gave us– And then
- 34:58Speaker 1: they gave us– Well, you lived there forever. They gave
- 35:00Speaker 1: us all these hints to figure it out.
- 35:01Speaker 2: Like that was the second– it was much, much harder
- 35:04Speaker 2: than the previous one I had done. So, yeah, I
- 35:08Speaker 2: thought that– Was all really well done.
- 35:11Speaker 1: I'm shocked. And I like that it was Christmas themed.
- 35:13Speaker 1: Give me a Christmas. I mean, I like that it's
- 35:15Speaker 1: Christmas themed too, but I'm shocked that you liked that
- 35:18Speaker 1: it was Christmas themed. I just thought it was a
- 35:19Speaker 1: good idea.
- 35:19Speaker 2: Why don't they have more of those? Maybe they do
- 35:22Speaker 2: and I just don't seek them out.
- 35:24Speaker 1: Yeah. Like in during the holiday season. I think that's fun. Yeah.
- 35:29Speaker 1: Now that I'm talking about the details of it, I
- 35:31Speaker 1: think maybe it was better than I than when I
- 35:33Speaker 1: experienced it. Anyway, I think I need to give the
- 35:36Speaker 1: escape room a little bit more credit. It's just like
- 35:38Speaker 1: kind of It doesn't serve a whole lot of purpose,
- 35:40Speaker 1: I guess. I liked it. Okay. Are you ready to talk?
- 35:43Speaker 1: Did you see that? Yes. And I only have one.
- 35:45Speaker 1: All right. Let me hear it. Was this movie sponsored
- 35:49Speaker 1: by Columbia Sportswear? Oh. I don't think it was. You
- 35:53Speaker 1: see the tags?
- 35:54Speaker 2: At one point, I was almost consumed by, are they
- 35:59Speaker 2: wearing Columbia Sportswear stuff?
- 36:01Speaker 1: Yes. Rather than watching the movie. Like Ridges- Ridge's fleecy
- 36:06Speaker 1: sweatshirt zip up, quarter zip. Yep, yep, yep. But it
- 36:11Speaker 1: wasn't like, ooh, look, King's Hawaiian. It was, you know. Yes.
- 36:16Speaker 1: It was organic product placement, if that's the case. If
- 36:20Speaker 1: it was, yeah.
- 36:21Speaker 2: Or maybe the costumer just went to an outlet and
- 36:27Speaker 2: was like, let's do it, you know.
- 36:29Speaker 1: They were in real snow, right? Well, that's one of
- 36:32Speaker 1: my did you see that's is this. For a countdown
- 36:35Speaker 1: to Christmas kickoff movie seemed to me very clearly to
- 36:38Speaker 1: have been filmed in real winter with real snow and
- 36:41Speaker 1: the trees are barren. It's nice. Yeah.
- 36:45Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know why they don't do that more often.
- 36:47Speaker 2: Other than like logistics and schedules and availability. Yeah, it
- 36:53Speaker 2: would be great if they were all filmed during real
- 36:55Speaker 2: winter instead of July.
- 36:56Speaker 1: Yeah, well, it was night. Where was this? This is
- 36:59Speaker 1: supposed to be like. Colorado? Breckenridge. Yeah. That's not what
- 37:03Speaker 1: Breckenridge looks like, just for anybody who's wondering. Haven't been there,
- 37:06Speaker 1: I don't know. What does Breckenridge look like? I mean,
- 37:09Speaker 1: it just looks like a ski town, but... Wasn't it
- 37:12Speaker 1: a ski town? Yeah, but it just doesn't look like that.
- 37:17Speaker 2: Okay.
- 37:17Speaker 1: One question. Do you think Victor Webster did any of
- 37:20Speaker 1: his own snowboarding? No.
- 37:22Speaker 2: Maybe.
- 37:22Speaker 1: Maybe.
- 37:23Speaker 2: No.
- 37:24Speaker 1: I don't know. The doubles in this movie, and I
- 37:26Speaker 1: have to assume there were doubles, did a very nice
- 37:29Speaker 1: job with the ski and snowboard scenes. They were really skiing,
- 37:33Speaker 1: although they're kind of alone on the mountain. Oh, there
- 37:35Speaker 1: wasn't like 8 million people out there? No, which is
- 37:38Speaker 1: the only way I ever want to ski again is
- 37:40Speaker 1: if I'm alone on a mountain. Have you done that?
- 37:44Speaker 1: Skiing on a mountain alone? Yeah. No.
- 37:47Speaker 2: Oh, you made it sound like that's the only way
- 37:50Speaker 2: I ever want to do that again is.
- 37:53Speaker 1: To have the mountain all to myself. No, I just
- 37:56Speaker 1: am not a good skier. And so if there's, I need,
- 37:59Speaker 1: I need to do like a real wide, I haven't skied.
- 38:01Speaker 1: How old's my youngest child? 20 years. How old's my
- 38:04Speaker 1: oldest child? I need to do real wide, like swoop, swoop.
- 38:08Speaker 1: And you can't do that when people are like, shoom. Yeah.
- 38:11Speaker 1: It's also really hard to do it when you share
- 38:12Speaker 1: the mountain with snowboarders because skiers and snowboarders move differently. Anyway,
- 38:18Speaker 1: that's why. Don't you snowboard too? Uh, the last time
- 38:21Speaker 1: I snowboarded, I was 20 years old, broke my wrist.
- 38:24Speaker 1: We'll never do it again. Yeah.
- 38:26Speaker 2: I am, you know, I'm just, I have osteoporosis, so
- 38:30Speaker 2: I'm definitely not ever, ever getting on a pair of
- 38:33Speaker 2: skis and I've never snowboarded. So, I mean, I could,
- 38:37Speaker 2: I broke my ankle in the garage, so I'm definitely, no.
- 38:40Speaker 1: I'll never do it again. It's, it's, I think it's
- 38:43Speaker 1: a skill that you need to learn young in order
- 38:45Speaker 1: to not be afraid of it. Yeah. Anyway, my last
- 38:48Speaker 1: did you see that is why, why are they decorating
- 38:52Speaker 1: a Christmas tree in a cabin with 12 other decorated
- 38:56Speaker 1: trees already in it? Good question. The act, perhaps. Yeah,
- 39:02Speaker 1: but I was thinking about that. Is the act of
- 39:05Speaker 1: decorating a tree actually fun? In my honest opinion, no.
- 39:09Speaker 1: And the only thing that's fun about it is when
- 39:11Speaker 1: it's your ornament. Yeah. When it's sentimental and when it's
- 39:14Speaker 1: in your home, you're just using some random ornaments in
- 39:17Speaker 1: a In a tree, in a place where you do
- 39:19Speaker 1: not live and you're not going to be there long
- 39:21Speaker 1: enough to enjoy it. So where is the joy? Like
- 39:26Speaker 1: maybe for some people, the act of putting ornaments on
- 39:29Speaker 1: a tree. are enjoyable. But I think for most people,
- 39:33Speaker 1: it's the nostalgia of it. It's the, let's make my
- 39:37Speaker 1: home beautiful of it. And none of that exists here. Yeah.
- 39:40Speaker 1: Who's the hater now? I guess you. Don't take you
- 39:43Speaker 1: to a beautiful place.
- 39:45Speaker 2: Cabin in Breckenridge.
- 39:46Speaker 1: Well I would love to arrive to a beautifully decorated
- 39:49Speaker 1: cabin my family and I my parental family and I
- 39:53Speaker 1: went to Aspen for Christmas one year when my brother
- 39:55Speaker 1: and I were adults and we had decorated trees in
- 39:58Speaker 1: our room it was lovely but I didn't want to
- 40:00Speaker 1: arrive and decorate it myself yeah at that point I'm
- 40:03Speaker 1: in vacation mode I don't want to do any of
- 40:05Speaker 1: the work baby give me a mistletoe magic drink that
- 40:09Speaker 1: he was talking about and sit me in a ski
- 40:13Speaker 1: lodge all right what did you rate this movie I
- 40:15Speaker 1: gave it three stars. Okay. I hear the question mark.
- 40:21Speaker 2: It's because, like, I was thinking about my rating situation, right?
- 40:26Speaker 1: Like, three stars is a very enjoyable movie. Yes.
- 40:31Speaker 2: During Christmas here, three stars, very enjoyable movie. Four stars,
- 40:36Speaker 2: you got to make me turn my head like... And then,
- 40:39Speaker 2: you know, a five star is like, I love it.
- 40:40Speaker 2: Hands down, we'll watch again. So, it.
- 40:44Speaker 1: It was nice. I gave it three and a half stars.
