- 3:12Speaker 5: night and named a new board president. We have a
- 3:14Speaker 5: story posted about it WHS network dot com. One of
- 3:17Speaker 5: those new members Lisa Odie, and she joins US one
- 3:20Speaker 5: ev in the via the Guarantee Bank hopline. Good morning, Lisa,
- 3:23Speaker 5: welcome to the show.
- 3:24Speaker 6: Hey, thanks for having me. Dave, good morning.
- 3:27Speaker 5: Well it's official now you are a Canawa County Board
- 3:29Speaker 5: of Education member.
- 3:31Speaker 6: Yes, kind of surreal. It was a it was a
- 3:35Speaker 6: great swearing in ceremony last night at the at two
- 3:38Speaker 6: hundred Elizabeth Street. Was blessed to have a mayor good
- 3:42Speaker 6: one there to you know, give me my oath of
- 3:45Speaker 6: office and had friends and family uh there to witness,
- 3:49Speaker 6: and it was a it was a great, great evening.
- 3:52Speaker 5: Now you, along with Mike arbagast To Becky Jordan, were
- 3:55Speaker 5: sworn in last night you're the newbie there, Becky and
- 3:57Speaker 5: Micah returning to the board. You think you're up for this?
- 4:01Speaker 6: Yes, I mean it's my first rodio. I did have
- 4:03Speaker 6: one incident last night where, uh, Becky, Jordan and I
- 4:07Speaker 6: both tried the second emotion at the same time. So
- 4:11Speaker 6: my friends kind of, you know, kind of poked fun
- 4:13Speaker 6: at me for that. But like I said, I'm learning it.
- 4:15Speaker 6: It's gonna it's gonna be in a learning curve. But
- 4:19Speaker 6: last night's meeting was great and I'm excited for for
- 4:22Speaker 6: everything that the future holds for us.
- 4:24Speaker 5: Did Becky look at you and go, hey, newbie, know
- 4:27Speaker 5: your role? I know she didn't, but it would have
- 4:30Speaker 5: been funny had it happened that.
- 4:31Speaker 6: Way, I know, right, all right, So, uh, I mean
- 4:34Speaker 6: I've been after that. I was kind of quiet for
- 4:36Speaker 6: a while, but after the meeting they told me, yes,
- 4:38Speaker 6: we definitely need you seconding those emotions.
- 4:40Speaker 5: Those motions or emotions if you want, you can do
- 4:44Speaker 5: on one day. What what Why did you run in
- 4:48Speaker 5: the first place?
- 4:50Speaker 6: Well, after I retired last last May year ago this
- 4:54Speaker 6: past May, I had thirty five years in the system,
- 4:56Speaker 6: and I just felt like this is something that I
- 5:00Speaker 6: needed to do. You know, I'm passionate about education. Uh,
- 5:04Speaker 6: you know, the kids, the students, the staff. I just
- 5:07Speaker 6: felt like that I could, I could keep contributing to,
- 5:11Speaker 6: you know, helping everyone involved with you know, conall county schools,
- 5:16Speaker 6: but just in a in a different, in different manner.
- 5:19Speaker 5: Talking again with Lisa Odie, who has was sworn in
- 5:22Speaker 5: last night as a new member of the Canawh County
- 5:23Speaker 5: Board of Education, Dave aland show and find Anieline bron
- 5:26Speaker 5: to imparted by Hustband's Pizza and the July Special at
- 5:28Speaker 5: Husband's by any regularly priced large eighteen inch pizza and
- 5:32Speaker 5: get a two liter bottle of any Pepsi product for free,
- 5:34Speaker 5: fund Engineer's Hustan's Pzza for delivery, pick up or dined
- 5:37Speaker 5: in at Huston's Pizza dot Com and Lisa, you know,
- 5:39Speaker 5: I want, let's face it here. I mean, several boards
- 5:42Speaker 5: of education across the state have got some very very
- 5:45Speaker 5: difficult decisions to make with population laws and solidations closing.
- 5:49Speaker 5: And you know that's bearing out in Canawa County too.
- 5:52Speaker 5: It's not going to be easy.
- 5:54Speaker 6: No, I mean, you're right day that there's the budget
- 5:58Speaker 6: it you know, it seems like it's shrinking, you know,
- 6:00Speaker 6: due to many factors. You know what you just said
- 6:04Speaker 6: in giving me this question. And you know, also the
- 6:07Speaker 6: whole scholarship is you know, kind of putting us squeeze
- 6:11Speaker 6: on most of the county systems in the state. You know,
- 6:14Speaker 6: we're just gonna have to look at ways to advertise
- 6:18Speaker 6: what we can offer with public schools so that you know,
- 6:20Speaker 6: we can we can stop the bleeding of our students
- 6:23Speaker 6: leaving us and you know, pursuing other avenues for their
- 6:27Speaker 6: educational opportunities. You know, we need, we need to make
- 6:30Speaker 6: sure people understand that, you know, we provide a world
- 6:34Speaker 6: class education here in Kanawh County and we have so many,
- 6:38Speaker 6: so many different curriculums that are excellent, staff that are excellent,
- 6:42Speaker 6: and you know, it's it's free, it's free and appropriate
- 6:45Speaker 6: public education. And we need to make sure that everyone
- 6:48Speaker 6: knows what we can give them.
- 6:50Speaker 5: And so many parents and again this is not exclusive
- 6:52Speaker 5: to Canagh County, uh, Lisa, We talked about it on
- 6:55Speaker 5: the show and the Metro News Midday every day. So
- 6:57Speaker 5: many parents, for one reason or another are choosing alternatives
- 7:01Speaker 5: to what we knew is traditional education, not throwing off
- 7:04Speaker 5: on it. I think every parent should have a right
- 7:05Speaker 5: to do what they want to do. But there are
- 7:07Speaker 5: several alternatives. But back when you and I were in school,
- 7:09Speaker 5: you had your religious schools here or there, and that
- 7:12Speaker 5: was pretty much it. And now there's homeschooling, uh, there's
- 7:15Speaker 5: as you mentioned, the Hope Scholarship, there's charter schools. There's
- 7:18Speaker 5: so many, you know, different paths to uh to an
- 7:23Speaker 5: education other than than just public schools. And you know,
- 7:27Speaker 5: it's there are a lot of there are a lot
- 7:29Speaker 5: of parents for one reason another are choosing alternate routes.
- 7:32Speaker 5: That certainly is there, right, But I think you folks
- 7:34Speaker 5: in the public school system want to step up and say, look,
- 7:36Speaker 5: we're still here and we're still doing it right.
- 7:39Speaker 6: Yeah, absolutely, Dave. I mean I would never step between
- 7:42Speaker 6: you know, a family and their decision on how to
- 7:45Speaker 6: educate their children. That that is a personal choice. But
- 7:48Speaker 6: what I do believe is they need to make sure
- 7:51Speaker 6: they explore all the options of public schools, you know,
- 7:54Speaker 6: to make sure that we can't you know, meet their needs.
- 7:57Speaker 6: I mean, I think sometimes the things that we're doing
- 7:59Speaker 6: out there are hidden and you know, you've got we
- 8:02Speaker 6: need to make sure that they know what's available, and
- 8:05Speaker 6: we also have to, you know, make sure day that
- 8:07Speaker 6: we have some guardrails on some of these other opportunities.
- 8:10Speaker 6: You know, public schools are held to a certain standard.
- 8:13Speaker 6: You know, we need to make sure that all the
- 8:14Speaker 6: other options for education educating our students, you know, they
- 8:18Speaker 6: have standards as well that are just as stringent as
- 8:21Speaker 6: you know, what we're doing in public schools.
- 8:24Speaker 5: Also want to mention that Kate white was is the
- 8:27Speaker 5: new board president. It was a unanimous vote. You can
- 8:29Speaker 5: read more about it the w c Anchius network dot com.
- 8:32Speaker 5: Ricavitor served in that role for two years and the
- 8:35Speaker 5: way it works is somebody else steps up, So now
- 8:37Speaker 5: it's Kate Whitest. We'll try to have her on a
- 8:38Speaker 5: future show. What are you most looking forward to as
- 8:41Speaker 5: a board member once you get in? He had your
- 8:43Speaker 5: first meeting last time, But once you get in, really
- 8:44Speaker 5: down to the nitty gritty, Lissa, what are you really
- 8:46Speaker 5: looking forward to the most?
- 8:48Speaker 6: You know, I'm just looking forward to making a difference.
- 8:50Speaker 6: I want. I want to be sure that I'm the
- 8:52Speaker 6: voice that the community needs sitting, you know, there at
- 8:55Speaker 6: that table when we have these meetings every month. Uh,
- 8:59Speaker 6: you know, I want to consider every single thing that
- 9:01Speaker 6: has brought to my attention. I want to make sure that,
- 9:04Speaker 6: you know, I get feedback. I'm more than happy to
- 9:07Speaker 6: have people, you know, reach out to me at my
- 9:10Speaker 6: Facebook page which is Lisa Odie Cacsboe. I updated it.
- 9:15Speaker 6: You can also, you know, reach me still at my
- 9:17Speaker 6: website od FORWV dot com.
- 9:19Speaker 7: Uh.
- 9:20Speaker 6: You know, send me your your feedback, send me your ideas.
- 9:23Speaker 6: You know, I want to be a representative of our
- 9:25Speaker 6: community and make things better for our students and staff
- 9:28Speaker 6: in Kanal County.
- 9:29Speaker 5: You know something else that came out of the meeting
- 9:30Speaker 5: last night, and again you can read more about it
- 9:32Speaker 5: the w c HS network dot com. The board voted
- 9:35Speaker 5: to transfer the old Hoover High the property and everything
- 9:39Speaker 5: that goes along with us and the fields to the
- 9:41Speaker 5: city of Clendenna. That was that was a unanimous vote.
- 9:44Speaker 5: There should be good for that community.
- 9:46Speaker 6: I think it's an awesome move. Dave, you know that
- 9:49Speaker 6: that land is just sitting there. I'm pretty sure with
- 9:52Speaker 6: SEMA regulations, you know, once an area like that has
- 9:55Speaker 6: you know, been reclaimed with flooding, you're not allowed to
- 9:57Speaker 6: have any type of structures. But you know, to make
- 10:01Speaker 6: it a community park. I think that that the town
- 10:04Speaker 6: of Plendon and has some really great ideas about having
- 10:06Speaker 6: you know, walking trails, maybe a picnic area, you know,
- 10:10Speaker 6: make that that beautification of that area and also accessible
- 10:15Speaker 6: to everyone to enjoy, you know, the river and everything
- 10:18Speaker 6: that you know it has to offer.
- 10:20Speaker 5: Before we let you go, I do want to give
- 10:22Speaker 5: you an and I had you on the show after
- 10:23Speaker 5: the election, but I do want to give you the
- 10:24Speaker 5: opportunity to think, because not anybody that runs for office,
- 10:29Speaker 5: everybody around them runs, you know, whether it's a spouse
- 10:32Speaker 5: or kids, or friends or whatever. Everybody's in it. So
- 10:34Speaker 5: I'll give you a chance to thank the people that
- 10:36Speaker 5: put you where you are.
- 10:38Speaker 6: Yeah. Well, first of all, I want to thank all
- 10:39Speaker 6: of my my friends. You know, I'm not going to
- 10:42Speaker 6: go through them individuals.
- 10:43Speaker 3: Yeah, don't do that.
- 10:44Speaker 6: Yeah, of course. My husband Jerry Nelson, bless his heart.
- 10:49Speaker 6: He's driving Miss Daisy right now. We're headed south for
- 10:52Speaker 6: a vacation, a quick vacation, and you know.
- 10:54Speaker 8: I'm one.
- 10:54Speaker 6: I'm like, you got to get a signal, so bless
- 10:56Speaker 6: It's hard. He puts up with me all the time.
- 10:59Speaker 6: You know, all the people that voted for me today,
- 11:01Speaker 6: that they're the ones that I really want to thank.
- 11:04Speaker 6: Like I said, you know that night election night, seeing
- 11:07Speaker 6: the numbers, the people that you know want change, they
- 11:10Speaker 6: want someone that represents you know what they want the
- 11:15Speaker 6: direction of our school system. You know, they're the ones
- 11:19Speaker 6: that put me here and they're the ones that I'm
- 11:20Speaker 6: as thankful for.
- 11:21Speaker 5: Lie Sody now officially on the Canawh County Board of Education.
- 11:24Speaker 5: Appreciate you being here. We'll talk soon. Thanks a lot.

- 15:26Speaker 8: You can't really choose, you know, just like well, at

- 15:31Speaker 8: could choose. But I just got the George W. Bush
- 15:34Speaker 8: car and I and I was like, all right, let's
- 15:37Speaker 8: do it.
- 15:37Speaker 5: He just celebrated his eightieth birthday yesterday. He and Sylvester
- 15:41Speaker 5: stallone on the same day.
- 15:43Speaker 8: Oh, I did not know that.
- 15:45Speaker 5: I just I got. I got all kinds of foolish information.
- 15:48Speaker 5: How was Taylor in Travis's wedding? Because I know you
- 15:51Speaker 5: were there.
- 15:53Speaker 8: I'm not a swiftye. I'm sorry to disappoint everyone, but
- 15:59Speaker 8: it looked I mean, I'm waiting for the non Ai
- 16:01Speaker 8: photos to drop took everyone else.
- 16:04Speaker 5: Well, I'm curious Adam Sandler did the wedding, So any
- 16:07Speaker 5: wedding that Adam Sandler does has got to be has
- 16:09Speaker 5: got to be pretty good.
- 16:11Speaker 8: That's what I'm thinking. I mean, I'm a little jealous
- 16:13Speaker 8: he didn't officiate my wedding, so well maybe.
- 16:15Speaker 5: That I started to say, well, maybe next time. And
- 16:18Speaker 5: that's not renewal of vows for you, Amelia, renewal of vows?
- 16:23Speaker 5: How's that? In all seriousness?
- 16:27Speaker 6: Uh?
- 16:27Speaker 5: I talked to you yesterday. We were setting up the
- 16:29Speaker 5: interview and you were traveling for a story. Are you
- 16:31Speaker 5: at liberty to discuss what that was or oh?
- 16:34Speaker 8: Yeah, I mean in general, yes, one, I cannot. I
- 16:37Speaker 8: don't want to get scooped by Brad Macklehenny who's always.
- 16:40Speaker 6: On on it.
- 16:41Speaker 5: I got you.
- 16:42Speaker 8: But I was just traveling around talking to childcare centers
- 16:47Speaker 8: and individuals about both the potential cuts to the childcare
- 16:51Speaker 8: subsidy program under the Morrissey administration and the potential I
- 16:56Speaker 8: don't know cuts or not happening of the Clothing Doubt
- 17:00Speaker 8: Your program that helps low income kids afford back to
- 17:02Speaker 8: school clothes. So I was just getting perspective and information
- 17:06Speaker 8: outside of Charleston.
- 17:07Speaker 5: Well, I was going to say, that's good on you
- 17:09Speaker 5: for that, you know, because there's story. I mean, it's
- 17:12Speaker 5: good that you hit the road to be able to
- 17:14Speaker 5: do that yesterday to kind of get some other perspective
- 17:16Speaker 5: as well. You spent a lot of time, of course,
- 17:18Speaker 5: covering issues pertaining to kids, and Brad you mentioned, has
- 17:21Speaker 5: the lead story this morning wv metronews dot com that
- 17:24Speaker 5: attorneys for the state are asking a federal district judge
- 17:28Speaker 5: to pump the brakes on a lawsuit over foster care
- 17:31Speaker 5: while they can get a review of the Supreme Court.
- 17:33Speaker 5: Just a little background here to kind of catch everybody up,
- 17:36Speaker 5: and again you can go to the website and read more.
- 17:38Speaker 5: Last year, US District Judge Joseph Goodwin dismissed a class
- 17:42Speaker 5: action lawsuit about conditions in the foster care system in
- 17:45Speaker 5: West Virginia. That's according to Brad's words, concluding the federal
- 17:50Speaker 5: court system does not have the jurisdiction to set the
- 17:53Speaker 5: policies that are carried out by other branches of government.
- 17:56Speaker 5: So last month of panel at the Fourth Circuit reversed
- 18:00Speaker 5: the dismissal and send it back to Judge Goodwin's Court. Now,
- 18:03Speaker 5: Attorney General JB. McCuskey has I know it's a lot
- 18:06Speaker 5: of legal talk, has entered a motion for a stay
- 18:09Speaker 5: in Judge Goodwin's court, and lawyers asking for the judge
- 18:13Speaker 5: to pause the district court proceedings or to provide additional
- 18:16Speaker 5: discovery with their words, pending resolution by the US Supreme
- 18:20Speaker 5: Court of a petition to allow the defendants to file
- 18:22Speaker 5: end quote. I know it's a lot. I know it's
- 18:23Speaker 5: a lot. Brad breaks it all down at the website.
- 18:27Speaker 5: I don't excuse me, I don't expect you to weigh
- 18:29Speaker 5: in on all that. But again, bottom line I read
- 18:31Speaker 5: for this, we still have major issues with the foster
- 18:34Speaker 5: care system and in the court system as well.
- 18:36Speaker 8: Yeah, I mean, I think it boils down to this.
- 18:40Speaker 8: The Attorney General's office wants to once the Supreme Court
- 18:44Speaker 8: to say, does a federal court have the authority to
- 18:47Speaker 8: tell West Virginia to clean up its foster care system?
- 18:50Speaker 8: And I think the legal question there is the authority
- 18:54Speaker 8: of the court.
- 18:54Speaker 6: But also does.
- 18:55Speaker 8: That mean then the foster care system shifts into some
- 18:58Speaker 8: type of court oversight, which is than state oversight different
- 19:01Speaker 8: branches of government. So it kind of boils down to that.
- 19:05Speaker 8: But I think it's also important to note that this
- 19:08Speaker 8: case was filed in twenty nineteen. This is actually how
- 19:11Speaker 8: I started covering foster care that many years ago. I
- 19:14Speaker 8: read all pages of this I think three hundred page lawsuit,
- 19:18Speaker 8: and I was shocked at what was alleged.
- 19:21Speaker 15: And has since been confirmed in many cases.
- 19:24Speaker 8: Was going on in the foster care system. And so
- 19:27Speaker 8: as this goes to Supreme Court, that was legal questions
- 19:30Speaker 8: from the Attorney General. But as they now petition the
- 19:33Speaker 8: US Supreme Court, which can be a very lengthy process,
- 19:37Speaker 8: that is another delay in these children having their trial
- 19:41Speaker 8: in court potentially or even delaying fixes that these attorneys
- 19:46Speaker 8: are seeking.
- 19:47Speaker 15: To mandate for these kids.
- 19:49Speaker 8: And some of those fixes are not sending as many
- 19:53Speaker 8: kids out of state to institutions that are dangerous, the
- 19:56Speaker 8: extremely high.
- 19:57Speaker 15: Case loads that social workers.
- 19:59Speaker 8: Continue to have in West Virginia that can and does
- 20:02Speaker 8: put foster kids at risk for being overlooked in their
- 20:06Speaker 8: cases and not vetting homes properly. And so those are
- 20:11Speaker 8: just some of the allegations that these attorneys are hoping
- 20:14Speaker 8: the state will clean up for the foster care system,
- 20:17Speaker 8: and this petition to the US Supreme court is going
- 20:20Speaker 8: to be another delay in seeing how this would play
- 20:23Speaker 8: out in a courtroom.
- 20:24Speaker 5: And it's pretty sad that you talked about this is
- 20:26Speaker 5: how you get started covering the foster care system and
- 20:29Speaker 5: begin with we're talking about twenty nineteen. I mean, this
- 20:33Speaker 5: is what infuriates a lot of people. And I'm not
- 20:35Speaker 5: going to be one to point fingers whatever. I'm just saying,
- 20:37Speaker 5: this is what infuriates a lot of people. You're talking
- 20:39Speaker 5: about something from twenty nineteen.
- 20:41Speaker 8: Yeah, yeah, And it's not as I said. You know,
- 20:45Speaker 8: it's a lawsuit, so of course we're going to use
- 20:47Speaker 8: words like allegations. But my reporting and reporting from other
- 20:51Speaker 8: great reporters in the state has shown that many of
- 20:54Speaker 8: those allegations were in fact verified by government documents. I
- 20:57Speaker 8: have done numerous stories about using foster children to out
- 21:01Speaker 8: of state institutions where there were dangerous practices happening, sexual assault, etc.
- 21:06Speaker 8: We've had to bring kids home because of those abused
- 21:09Speaker 8: allegations to out of state facilities. So you know, I
- 21:14Speaker 8: can't say, yes, everything in this lawsuit is true, but
- 21:18Speaker 8: we have heard state officials testify that CPS workers still
- 21:22Speaker 8: have way too many cases, So you know, it's important
- 21:26Speaker 8: to note too, this is a class action lawsuit that
- 21:28Speaker 8: foster children themselves are bringing against the state with the
- 21:31Speaker 8: help of local and national attorneys. So they are hoping
- 21:35Speaker 8: that by putting their name in it and their initials
- 21:38Speaker 8: to bring reforms to the system.
- 21:39Speaker 5: Again, we're talking with the Millia nicely from West Virginia.
- 21:42Speaker 5: Watching now we hear word of the last couple of
- 21:44Speaker 5: weeks about a child dying in foster care in Mingo County.
- 21:47Speaker 8: Yes, and this goes kind of right back to what
- 21:49Speaker 8: we were talking about. I mean, this story is about
- 21:52Speaker 8: as complicated as the lawsuit that you explained very well.
- 21:55Speaker 8: But in short, we have a four month old foster
- 21:59Speaker 8: child who died in the care of a foster parent
- 22:03Speaker 8: or a kinship placement. We're not quite sure yet who
- 22:06Speaker 8: was using illegal substances in front of the baby, also
- 22:09Speaker 8: allowed the biological mother to see the baby, who was
- 22:13Speaker 8: also using illegal substances in front of the child. I
- 22:17Speaker 8: believe it was the foster parent. One of the either
- 22:20Speaker 8: the bioparent or the foster parent, went to sleep, woke
- 22:24Speaker 8: up twelve hours later.
- 22:25Speaker 15: And the baby had died.
- 22:27Speaker 8: And there are a lot of questions about how was
- 22:30Speaker 8: this home vetted that this infant was placed in and
- 22:33Speaker 8: why did a CPS worker not know that the biological
- 22:37Speaker 8: mother continued to have contact that she was not supposed
- 22:40Speaker 8: to have with the baby. So I actually just filed
- 22:43Speaker 8: some freedom of information after quest yesterday. I'll be honest,
- 22:48Speaker 8: those typically take about six months to materialize. But I
- 22:51Speaker 8: am trying to figure out what was the vetting process.
- 22:54Speaker 8: And Delegate Adam burgh Hammer of Republican from Lewis County
- 22:59Speaker 8: was on talk line yet yesterday. He is the leading
- 23:01Speaker 8: foster care reform lawmaker. He's a foster parent. He pointed out, again,
- 23:07Speaker 8: our social workers have way too many cases and when
- 23:10Speaker 8: they have high case loads, things like this could happen
- 23:13Speaker 8: because they don't have time to properly check up on
- 23:15Speaker 8: these homes.
- 23:16Speaker 5: What are the what's the statistics on average of how
- 23:18Speaker 5: many cases that the average worker out in the field
- 23:22Speaker 5: they average a foster care study, what's what's the average?
- 23:26Speaker 8: Yeah, so best practice is twelve to fifteen cases per worker.
- 23:32Speaker 8: You know, social workers are mandated to visit kids, I
- 23:34Speaker 8: believe once a month, both out of state in state,
- 23:37Speaker 8: So that's about an average caseload they should have. Delegate
- 23:41Speaker 8: Burghammer yesterday said we have some caseworkers that have up
- 23:43Speaker 8: to fifty cases, and we've heard state officials day I
- 23:47Speaker 8: believe it was like twenty five to thirty in March.
- 23:51Speaker 8: So either way, it is not where.
- 23:53Speaker 15: It needs to be.
- 23:54Speaker 8: And I've been contacted by CPS workers who say, especially
- 23:57Speaker 8: in rural counties, they're carrying thirty cases at a time.
- 24:01Speaker 5: I mean, that's that's just insane. I mean, you know
- 24:04Speaker 5: that you would have that many. So does the problem
- 24:06Speaker 5: lie that, I know, we have plenty of openings in
- 24:08Speaker 5: the system. And look, my utmost respect for anybody that
- 24:11Speaker 5: can do that for a living, because I mean, let's
- 24:14Speaker 5: face it, the pay ain't.
- 24:16Speaker 8: Great, yeah, and the work is very Yeah.
- 24:20Speaker 5: It's not a nine to five job either. And the
- 24:22Speaker 5: things that you're asked to do, to go into homes
- 24:25Speaker 5: and listen to parents say and maybe they will at
- 24:29Speaker 5: some point saying well, you know, I'll change, Please don't
- 24:31Speaker 5: do that, and the trouble with the child. I cannot
- 24:34Speaker 5: fathom having to go through something like that A million.
- 24:37Speaker 8: Yeah, I mean it's I think pay plays into it.
- 24:40Speaker 8: I think we have a declining population and not a
- 24:43Speaker 8: great workforce available, but great, I mean not a high
- 24:47Speaker 8: number of available individuals to work. But I think it
- 24:53Speaker 8: like staffing has to be a priority for this administration.
- 24:57Speaker 8: And instead this session, instead of a bill to increase
- 25:02Speaker 8: CPS workers or increase pay, we saw a governor priority
- 25:05Speaker 8: bill was to give him more authority to move CPS workers.
- 25:08Speaker 15: Around to high needs areas.
- 25:10Speaker 8: Because they're supposed to kind of stay in the region
- 25:12Speaker 8: where they're hired.
- 25:14Speaker 6: And that's fine.
- 25:15Speaker 8: I mean sure, if there's if there's an emergency in
- 25:18Speaker 8: Harrison County, I guess it's fine the Kanowa County worker
- 25:21Speaker 8: moves there for a bit. But that doesn't that's just
- 25:24Speaker 8: shuffling chairs on a boat deck, right, Like, that's not
- 25:27Speaker 8: actually having more workers. So I think I heard Delegate
- 25:32Speaker 8: bar Camer say yesterday if he could get any bill
- 25:35Speaker 8: through right now, it would be to hire additional CPS workers.
- 25:39Speaker 8: But we have not seen this administration want to spend
- 25:43Speaker 8: a ton of money on child welfare, so I'm not
- 25:45Speaker 8: sure how that will go.
- 25:46Speaker 5: Talking to Millia Nicely from West Virginia, watched twenty six
- 25:48Speaker 5: Away from Tampa Dave Island Show in five vide line
- 25:50Speaker 5: brought to you impired by the All New Generations Ford
- 25:52Speaker 5: to Hurricane visit generations for dot com. Now you also
- 25:55Speaker 5: wrote about this, and I know I think it was
- 25:57Speaker 5: covered a little bit on talk line when last week,
- 25:58Speaker 5: but almost to see if you have an update here
- 26:00Speaker 5: this new fireworks tax that it's kind of stalled out.
- 26:05Speaker 5: There was supposed to be a tax pasted a couple
- 26:08Speaker 5: of years ago on fireworks since it's to help the
- 26:10Speaker 5: VA and now installed out.
- 26:12Speaker 8: What's the story there, Yeah, so we're still collecting this
- 26:15Speaker 8: twelve percent safety tax on fireworks. Lawmakers put it in
- 26:19Speaker 8: place about ten years well, yeah, ten years ago when
- 26:22Speaker 8: they legalized high power fireworks in West Virginia that were
- 26:25Speaker 8: already legal in Pennsylvania and Ohio. We are still collecting
- 26:29Speaker 8: tax on it, but it brought into about one point
- 26:32Speaker 8: five million dollars last year. But a portion of that
- 26:36Speaker 8: tax is supposed to fund veterans and it's specifically supposed
- 26:39Speaker 8: to help us build a new veterans hospital in Beckley.
- 26:42Speaker 8: Right now, we only have one VA hospital in Clarksburg,
- 26:45Speaker 8: and that has been stalled for years because the federal
- 26:50Speaker 8: money has not come through and we continue to wait
- 26:53Speaker 8: for it. It has, yeah, it just hasn't come yet.
- 26:56Speaker 8: And so we have both state dollars that were earmarked
- 26:59Speaker 8: by then Governor Jim Justice. We have fireworks tax money,
- 27:03Speaker 8: it's all ready to go, but the project awaits federal
- 27:07Speaker 8: VA funding. And I know when I talk to Senator
- 27:10Speaker 8: Justice's office in December about this, he was frustrated. But
- 27:15Speaker 8: there's really been no movement. Here we are in July
- 27:17Speaker 8: and so there's just a big lot of land in
- 27:20Speaker 8: Beckley where they broke ground several years ago that nothing
- 27:23Speaker 8: has happened.
- 27:24Speaker 5: So well, hopefully, because I mean, if you can't take
- 27:28Speaker 5: care I mean there's two examples right there. You can't
- 27:31Speaker 5: take care of the kids, you can't take care of
- 27:33Speaker 5: the veterans. I mean, I don't know that. You have
- 27:35Speaker 5: a whole lot going on. So hopefully they'll be able
- 27:37Speaker 5: to get this worked out. Now you're all, I think
- 27:39Speaker 5: to cover some sort of a press conference later, you
- 27:41Speaker 5: and some other folks in the media what's going on there,
- 27:43Speaker 5: and then we'll let you go.
- 27:43Speaker 8: Yeah, we have a new group that is forming with
- 27:48Speaker 8: public school employees that is focused on saving public schools.
- 27:53Speaker 8: As you know, we've been talking a lot this summer
- 27:55Speaker 8: about public school funding. Emergency is I feel like it's
- 27:59Speaker 8: we've been talking key about it for years, but it's
- 28:01Speaker 8: really ramped up this summer with more schools projected to close,
- 28:04Speaker 8: and so we're going to have some type of official
- 28:06Speaker 8: launch this morning of a group within public school employees
- 28:09Speaker 8: of them really wanting to fight for funding for their schools.
- 28:12Speaker 15: So that's all I.
- 28:13Speaker 8: Know so far, and I'll have more labor today.
- 28:15Speaker 5: We're going to get into that later today on Metro
- 28:17Speaker 5: News Midday as well. Millia nicely check out our work
- 28:20Speaker 5: in West Virginia. Watch fol on social media as well.
- 28:22Speaker 5: I appreciate you being here.
- 28:24Speaker 13: Thanks a lot, Yes, of course, have a great day
- 28:26Speaker 13: as well.

- 33:07Speaker 5: amazing in talking to Amelia, and you know, it's preaching,
- 33:12Speaker 5: you know, with a lot of my listeners, and I'm
- 33:14Speaker 5: preaching to the choir, you know when we talk about this.
- 33:16Speaker 5: But so many issues with the foster care system. And look,
- 33:19Speaker 5: I don't have the answers. I mean, I do not
- 33:22Speaker 5: have the answers, and apparently our elected officials do not either,
- 33:26Speaker 5: because this has been Amelia pointed out that what originally
- 33:30Speaker 5: got her covering the foster care system in West Virginia
- 33:33Speaker 5: started in twenty nineteen, think about twenty nineteen. I wasn't
- 33:37Speaker 5: even doing this show in twenty nineteen. Okay, we hadn't
- 33:40Speaker 5: had COVID yet. Taylor wasn't even dating Travis Kelcey at
- 33:46Speaker 5: that point. All right, just saying, just saying, and every
- 33:49Speaker 5: year it's just I don't know, editorializing here. We spend
- 33:53Speaker 5: so much time uner the Capitol talking about so many
- 33:55Speaker 5: things that really really just don't make any sense. And
- 33:59Speaker 5: I know what I get what I hear A lot
- 34:01Speaker 5: from people's well, you can do two things at once.
- 34:04Speaker 5: I agree. I agree, elected officials, you can do two, three, four,
- 34:08Speaker 5: or five things at once, but you're not doing the
- 34:10Speaker 5: big one. You're not doing the big one. And so
- 34:13Speaker 5: that's what angers a lot of people like me and
- 34:16Speaker 5: a lot of people like you. Is okay, you say this,
- 34:19Speaker 5: elected officials, talking to you and many members of a legislature,
- 34:22Speaker 5: you say this, that we can work on these social issues,
- 34:27Speaker 5: we can make it legal to eat this, we can
- 34:30Speaker 5: knock off this regulation. And look, I'm all for that,
- 34:33Speaker 5: I get it, and we can still work on fund Well,
- 34:36Speaker 5: the problem is you're not doing it. That's the problem.
- 34:42Speaker 5: That's the problem. And as Amelia said, the average best
- 34:45Speaker 5: case practices, what was it ever?
- 34:47Speaker 1: She used?
- 34:47Speaker 5: I think ten fifteen something like that, And many these
- 34:51Speaker 5: workers in West Virginia are dealing with forty and fifty cases.
- 34:55Speaker 5: I mean, imagine being a and I'm not trying to
- 34:59Speaker 5: necessarily equate two, but imagine being in a in a
- 35:01Speaker 5: classroom type setting, okay, and trying to educate those of
- 35:05Speaker 5: you that are teachers or remember your days, will trying
- 35:07Speaker 5: to educate forty and fifty kids at once, Right, that's
- 35:10Speaker 5: what imagine forty and fifty different cases, when you got
- 35:14Speaker 5: drugs involved, when you got piss poor parenting involved. I mean,
- 35:19Speaker 5: this is what you know.
- 35:20Speaker 3: I don't.
- 35:21Speaker 5: I'm an easy one guy. I don't get upset about much.
- 35:24Speaker 5: But this upsets me greatly. This upsets me greatly. And
- 35:27Speaker 5: we just keep every year, every time saying we're going
- 35:30Speaker 5: to do something about it. We're gonna do something about it.
- 35:32Speaker 5: And the problem is we don't do anything about it,
- 35:35Speaker 5: and in the meantime it gets worse and worse and worse.

- 36:19Speaker 5: I think one big issue with taking the Hope Scholarship
- 36:22Speaker 5: for some parents, the school's only paying lip service to
- 36:24Speaker 5: bullying and not actually doing anything about it. Today when
- 36:27Speaker 5: the kid is bullied over and over again, but then
- 36:30Speaker 5: they finally reached their breaking point and stand up for themselves,
- 36:33Speaker 5: they actually get in trouble for doing what a lot
- 36:35Speaker 5: of times many parents told them to do and fight back.
- 36:38Speaker 5: Taught by the school that once you stand up, then
- 36:40Speaker 5: you're going to get in trouble too, So I even
- 36:43Speaker 5: bother says texture texts from yesterday's conversation I was having
- 36:50Speaker 5: with Danny Jones. He was talking about one of his
- 36:52Speaker 5: friends he was sitting down with in California. Made it
- 36:55Speaker 5: a negative comment about coal mining, and the lady cringed
- 36:59Speaker 5: when he said he was from a state of coal miners, Texas.
- 37:01Speaker 5: The lady cringe because he mentioned the fact someone made
- 37:04Speaker 5: a choice about working in a coal mine. Basically the
- 37:06Speaker 5: equivalent of sticking her snooty nose up, just looking down
- 37:10Speaker 5: and disgustedly saying you live there. This is your new
- 37:13Speaker 5: Democrat Party people. They're not working class like West Virginia
- 37:16Speaker 5: coal miners. They are despicable elite college progressive that is
- 37:20Speaker 5: your new Democratic Party. Despicable elitees. None of those things
- 37:27Speaker 5: much apply to metroduced meteorology. Brian Hughes, How you doing, man?
- 37:32Speaker 2: Well, I give be despicable then too, But it's only
- 37:35Speaker 2: what I watched despicable me the book.
- 37:36Speaker 5: I mean, we all can all right, all right, So
- 37:38Speaker 5: I just asked you.
- 37:39Speaker 1: I know you're busy.
- 37:40Speaker 5: I just ask you start by briefly, though, to talk
- 37:42Speaker 5: about this. These weather systems that we keep having. We
- 37:46Speaker 5: had one yesterday, as I said, five five thirty years
- 37:48Speaker 5: sold that rolled through the area I was in. I
- 37:50Speaker 5: was at home in Tayse Valley, and my cats, who
- 37:52Speaker 5: don't normally pay attention to anything outside.
- 37:55Speaker 3: Walk in.
- 37:55Speaker 5: They just started hunkering down a little bit with that.
- 37:58Speaker 5: That was some loud thun or yesterday.
- 38:00Speaker 13: Yeah.
- 38:01Speaker 2: So the storms that will have day today will be similar.
- 38:04Speaker 2: I don't think they're going to be as widespread. And
- 38:06Speaker 2: I say that I was up one two o'clock this morning.
- 38:09Speaker 2: I should not have been, but I was up and
- 38:12Speaker 2: uh putting the forecast together for today and I was like, hmm, okay,
- 38:15Speaker 2: similar as yesterday. Then this morning, in the last couple
- 38:20Speaker 2: of hours, have been going through more of the forecast
- 38:21Speaker 2: models because this is the next number of days. Are
- 38:25Speaker 2: you're you're really forecasting day off. I mean, we're looking
- 38:28Speaker 2: at we're looking out and Wednesday, Thursday, Friday are going
- 38:30Speaker 2: to be relative washes as Wednesday probably not as bad
- 38:35Speaker 2: as what Thursday, Friday would be, and even Saturday.
- 38:37Speaker 13: But what we'll look in.
- 38:38Speaker 2: Is day to day where you have to see where
- 38:41Speaker 2: the storms collapsed the previous night before uh and obviously
- 38:45Speaker 2: into the morning. Because you can find boundaries, these a
- 38:48Speaker 2: little ripples in the atmosphere, they're called they're called we
- 38:50Speaker 2: call them outfull boundaries Meso scale boundaries, and they're just
- 38:54Speaker 2: like a speed bump in the road. So if you're
- 38:56Speaker 2: driving down the road and all of sudden you hit
- 38:58Speaker 2: this speed bump, because what changes the trajectory of the
- 39:01Speaker 2: vehicle bounces up a little bit, that little whift in
- 39:03Speaker 2: the atmosphere causes it causes the rise in the air,
- 39:07Speaker 2: just just because that little speed bump that you can't see,
- 39:10Speaker 2: and just a little bit of that with some heat
- 39:13Speaker 2: combined allows you to get some big thunderstorms developing. We
- 39:17Speaker 2: have a lot of Obviously its humid as all get
- 39:18Speaker 2: out out there. Still yeah, still is.
- 39:20Speaker 5: Temperature has gone down, but as a humidity actually gone down.
- 39:24Speaker 2: Not really okay, no, but you know, thankfully we do
- 39:28Speaker 2: not have the stifling heat of last week. If we
- 39:31Speaker 2: did have the stifling heat which was on with high pressure,
- 39:34Speaker 2: we'd be just fine. But you know, we're actually on
- 39:37Speaker 2: the edge of a ridge of eye pressure, and so
- 39:40Speaker 2: you have these ridge riding systems that are on the flow,
- 39:43Speaker 2: so that are on the northwest flow.
- 39:44Speaker 13: So we're gonna get all those that are coming out
- 39:46Speaker 13: of the west.
- 39:47Speaker 2: But we've got to see just where the boundaries are
- 39:50Speaker 2: as we go into the midday, and then we can
- 39:52Speaker 2: kind of pick an area out that go, Okay, this
- 39:53Speaker 2: is where we're looking at, and some of that's going
- 39:55Speaker 2: to be a couple of spots in the ground south
- 39:58Speaker 2: east Kentucky, southwest Virginia. Thats where we're going to see
- 40:00Speaker 2: some of those fire up, maybe this afternoon, and then
- 40:03Speaker 2: there might be one or two around the Ohio River.
- 40:05Speaker 2: But at this point we're looking at the thunders from
- 40:08Speaker 2: chances increasing every single day.
- 40:09Speaker 5: And by the time we get to the end of
- 40:11Speaker 5: the week, which is not good news from I mean,
- 40:14Speaker 5: we don't want to it's just Tuesday. Things can change.
- 40:16Speaker 5: But we got Live on the Levee returning.
- 40:18Speaker 13: This week, Pottam County Fairs coming in.
- 40:20Speaker 2: Yeah, so you know these events that what I know
- 40:24Speaker 2: are the ones immediately after we've got to where essentially
- 40:26Speaker 2: all the vendors that we had are going through those
- 40:29Speaker 2: next events. You know, they're they're going to have to
- 40:31Speaker 2: deal with some of this as we go into the weekend,
- 40:32Speaker 2: and it's not good, not going to be good for them.
- 40:35Speaker 2: But it is the middle of summer and we've got
- 40:38Speaker 2: to get typically get past the second week of July
- 40:42Speaker 2: and then that's when we should hit our dry period
- 40:45Speaker 2: for about.
- 40:45Speaker 13: A month and a half ish.
- 40:47Speaker 2: Generally that middle of July all the way through the
- 40:49Speaker 2: month of August we are relatively dry.
- 40:51Speaker 5: I have been at the Putnam County Fair after it's
- 40:55Speaker 5: rained a couple of days out there, you can always
- 40:57Speaker 5: count on a couple of cars getting.
- 40:58Speaker 2: Stuck, and that's why they should have a mud derby
- 41:03Speaker 2: of some sorts.
- 41:04Speaker 5: I think they do.
- 41:05Speaker 2: Yeah, I know they've got the go on Mores and
- 41:08Speaker 2: then yeah, they've been adding to it. I'll tell you what,
- 41:11Speaker 2: what they've done with the Putmam County Fair has been
- 41:13Speaker 2: really good. I wish we could get more, uh more
- 41:16Speaker 2: folks on board for that event because it is I
- 41:19Speaker 2: mean Putnam County shows up at the Putnam County Fair.
- 41:22Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, absolutely, it's.
- 41:23Speaker 13: A good time. Christ the Snodgrass running the show there.
- 41:26Speaker 5: The Dirty Birds are back in town starting tonight, and
- 41:30Speaker 5: I know this weekend they have their Pepperoni Role Festival
- 41:34Speaker 5: going on, and we're hoping I mean again, rain is
- 41:37Speaker 5: not necessarily an issue, but thunder and lightning or lightning.
- 41:40Speaker 2: Yeah, and that and that's the that's going to be
- 41:43Speaker 2: the bigger event. You know what we look at for.
- 41:45Speaker 2: You know, the when lightning happens, typically within a ten
- 41:48Speaker 2: mile radius of the event. Okay, some shut it down.
- 41:51Speaker 2: If it gets within the five mile it is shut down.
- 41:54Speaker 16: Move out.
- 41:54Speaker 2: And I can tell you what we got to folks
- 41:57Speaker 2: on Sunday.
- 41:58Speaker 13: Hey did want of my Yeah, I wanted to sit
- 42:01Speaker 13: right there.
- 42:01Speaker 5: We'll wait it out.
- 42:02Speaker 2: And in Loan Bow, what happened. The heavy rain stopped
- 42:04Speaker 2: just to the west of us, and uh and we
- 42:07Speaker 2: just had light rain showers and that's kind of what
- 42:09Speaker 2: we had. You had in Putnam County yesterday, big storm
- 42:13Speaker 2: and it got to Charleston Sprinkles, so.
- 42:15Speaker 5: It was it was pretty big. It rained heavily over
- 42:17Speaker 5: there at one point, and like a lot of thunder.
- 42:19Speaker 5: And I think there was, as I said, some high
- 42:21Speaker 5: water issues more toward Huntington, Milton, Barbersville and.
- 42:24Speaker 13: And and that's and also that's that's the other thing.
- 42:26Speaker 2: We're not looking at widespread flood problems with the thunderstorm.
- 42:30Speaker 2: You know, we might get a flood watch goings Friday
- 42:31Speaker 2: into Saturday, but we're you know, the ground's able to
- 42:35Speaker 2: absorb it. Plants are fully flourished and uh, you know,
- 42:39Speaker 2: going top notch, So this is gonna be able. The
- 42:42Speaker 2: ground's going to be able to absorb a lot of it.
- 42:43Speaker 2: It's just a lot of it coming down at one time.
- 42:46Speaker 2: Is obviously the hot mess that we had in cappl
- 42:48Speaker 2: County yesterday, but it would only be spotty flash flood
- 42:51Speaker 2: warnings that we would have. We had some of those
- 42:53Speaker 2: clay counts are back up into section of Braxton County
- 42:55Speaker 2: this morning early this morning. Up I seventy nine, see
- 42:59Speaker 2: I seventy I always have to do that seventy seven
- 43:01Speaker 2: to seventy nine. I know you can't see it at home,
- 43:03Speaker 2: but I'm doing a hand dance with the numbers, so whatever.
- 43:08Speaker 5: Bryan Hughes appreciate it.
- 43:09Speaker 10: Man.
- 43:10Speaker 5: Thanks sorry, welcome all right, nine to fifty one. And
- 43:12Speaker 5: I mentioned the Dirty Birds. They sponsored the show. They
- 43:14Speaker 5: have a home stand already tonight go Martin Ballpark against
- 43:17Speaker 5: Long Island. It's two dollars Tuesday, two dollars game tickets,
- 43:20Speaker 5: hot dogs, water, so to, mini golf and more. And
- 43:23Speaker 5: you can check out Dirty Birds Baseball dot com if
- 43:25Speaker 5: you need more information quickly. I do want to mention this.
- 43:27Speaker 5: We have a story at the website by Jeff Jenkins
- 43:30Speaker 5: and it's got the whole sports world kind of watching it.
- 43:32Speaker 5: Eleven Marshall student athletes are suing the NCAA over a
- 43:36Speaker 5: new rule. They're trying to get an injunction in Capbell
- 43:39Speaker 5: County Circuit Court over a new rule called the five
- 43:41Speaker 5: for five. Sounds like something at tutors, I know. Here's
- 43:44Speaker 5: what it is. Basically, the new rule is you have
- 43:46Speaker 5: five years to play five seasons.
- 43:48Speaker 8: Now.
- 43:48Speaker 5: The West Virginia Record was the first to report this.
- 43:51Speaker 5: The players say the new rule cuts them off because
- 43:54Speaker 5: they graduated high school in twenty twenty two and played
- 43:56Speaker 5: four seasons and are now being to night at fifth season.
- 44:00Speaker 5: Says the rule violates the Western Didion Consumer Credit and
- 44:02Speaker 5: Protection Act and the Covenant of Fair Dealing. You know,
- 44:05Speaker 5: for someone who isn't an attorney, I'm certainly sounding like
- 44:08Speaker 5: one throughout the show. It's an interesting story. The players
- 44:11Speaker 5: are hoping to play in the twenty twenty six twenty
- 44:14Speaker 5: twenty seventh Sports here. They include some heavy hitters like
- 44:16Speaker 5: Boogie Trotter, Bryce Blevins, Cam Huffman, Meredith Mayor, Peyton Alten
- 44:21Speaker 5: and Peyton by the way from Logan attorney Steve Knew

- 46:28Speaker 4: You may think speeding a little isn't really speeding, but

- 46:34Speaker 4: there's the fine. Your first offense could cost you one

- 47:44Speaker 5: have much of a filter when it comes to certain things.
- 47:46Speaker 5: For all the people that said, well, I don't bring
- 47:48Speaker 5: in people that people want to see. How many people
- 47:51Speaker 5: you think we're there for Brett Michaels the other night,
- 47:52Speaker 5: because apparently somebody greatly disagreed with the because the house
- 47:57Speaker 5: was well, it's not a house.
- 47:58Speaker 21: The street was packed, I would say, going by previous
- 48:02Speaker 21: regattas from the old days and being there, I would
- 48:05Speaker 21: say seventy five thousand.
- 48:07Speaker 5: Plus at one time.
- 48:09Speaker 3: At one time. It probably the right, you know, right
- 48:12Speaker 3: that seems.
- 48:13Speaker 5: A little high.
- 48:14Speaker 3: Well, a lot of people there were high.
- 48:18Speaker 5: You said it, not me, But but I will say
- 48:20Speaker 5: this every year. It always cracks me up because when
- 48:22Speaker 5: the entertainment is announced and I don't know what this is,
- 48:25Speaker 5: because the Charleston people still, you know, complain about it.
- 48:29Speaker 3: Why don't they bring in people?
- 48:30Speaker 5: Apparently somebody wanted to see Brett Michaels, and Brett Michaels
- 48:33Speaker 5: wanted to deceive all the concerts for that. But I
- 48:37Speaker 5: think they knocked it out of the park. And I
- 48:38Speaker 5: think that everybody that went, I did not read any
- 48:40Speaker 5: negative comments Mike. Maybe that they'd like to have for
- 48:43Speaker 5: him to played another couple of hours. That would have
- 48:45Speaker 5: been about.
- 48:45Speaker 21: It been about it. Look, they knocked it out the park.
- 48:49Speaker 21: Great entertainment, appropriate entertainment.
- 48:53Speaker 5: Something for everybody, something for everybody, and you know what,
- 48:55Speaker 5: it was free, free, and he can't complaining about freestyle
- 48:59Speaker 5: and they really embrace the town as we isy in
- 49:01Speaker 5: town embraced them. I mean, Bobby Brown was over at
- 49:03Speaker 5: your Buddy down Sam's having a good time hang man.
- 49:08Speaker 5: Melissa Ethridge was over at Folklore Music around around town Adelphia,
- 49:12Speaker 5: I think, or is it Melissa?
- 49:14Speaker 21: There was somebody I've been around town. They all come
- 49:16Speaker 21: around town, but sometimes they pop in our store and
- 49:18Speaker 21: what's going on. I mean, you know, musicians generally on tour,
- 49:21Speaker 21: if they have a day offer, so they like to
- 49:24Speaker 21: see where they're at.
- 49:25Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 49:25Speaker 3: Well, I mean they're humans. There's their job.
- 49:28Speaker 5: There's a lot of downtime, you know, and once the
- 49:30Speaker 5: sound checks are done or whatever, and they want to
- 49:32Speaker 5: be I mean some in some days they probably want
- 49:34Speaker 5: to go back to the room and just you know,
- 49:35Speaker 5: get a nap or whatever. But sometimes they want to
- 49:37Speaker 5: go out and they actually want to meet people because
- 49:39Speaker 5: those people download music. I was gonna say buy music,
- 49:41Speaker 5: but it's downloading now. And Uh, it's a great show.
- 49:44Speaker 5: And what what Brett Michaels did for the veterans.
- 49:47Speaker 21: Up on stage, it's amazing. And I've known Brett for
- 49:50Speaker 21: twenty five years.
- 49:51Speaker 5: And he's a class acts.
- 49:53Speaker 21: A super smart guy. He's an entertainer and he's just
- 49:56Speaker 21: great and he and and don't forget he raises a
- 49:58Speaker 21: lot of money for juvenile die betes.
- 50:00Speaker 5: He's a diabetic, yeah severe. I mean he traveled when
- 50:04Speaker 5: he was a kid. Yeah, at one point he traveled.
- 50:06Speaker 5: I don't know if it still does not with his
- 50:07Speaker 5: own doctor, his own nurse, because he's not down there
- 50:10Speaker 5: eating funnel cakes. I mean he's got to have a
- 50:11Speaker 5: special diet and whatever and be able to do that.
- 50:13Speaker 5: So anyway, you just you know, you just stopped by
- 50:16Speaker 5: the studio here for some reason. So I just you're in.
- 50:18Speaker 5: We were having a meeting, I.
- 50:19Speaker 3: Understand, meeting at ten with somebody.
- 50:22Speaker 5: Yeah it's me ten o'clock.
- 50:24Speaker 3: I'm early.

- 50:45Speaker 22: or at Hoover in the ten o'clock hour. We'll talk
- 50:47Speaker 22: to him at eleven o'clock. Also talk about this issue
- 50:49Speaker 22: about the United Methodist Church. Who owns the property? Is

- 51:00Speaker 22: going to the Supreme Court.

- 51:02Speaker 22: And also does this open the door to the government
- 51:05Speaker 22: having more say about what churches do? So very interesting topic.
