- 0:00Speaker 1: Live now on sport and stay presented by our friends
- 0:03Speaker 1: at hard rock bets we're next round the next round
- 0:07Speaker 1: we could be just next round we could be next
- 0:08Speaker 1: round live we have a variety of different names but
- 0:11Speaker 1: everywhere on social media at next round live at next
- 0:14Speaker 1: round live jim dunaway lance taylor uh that is ryan
- 0:17Speaker 1: brown ryan you got any camo on today camo on
- 0:20Speaker 1: there i got camo shorts on today oh no i
- 0:22Speaker 1: do not i do not i am not hunting i
- 0:24Speaker 1: am Well, try not to hunt golf balls. Forrester is
- 0:28Speaker 1: off today, so just two behind the glass. Brooks is
- 0:31Speaker 1: filling in at left guard in place of Tyler. Tyler's
- 0:34Speaker 1: filling in at right guard back in the back in
- 0:36Speaker 1: place of Forrester, and nobody is sitting in Brooks' chair. Oh, no.
- 0:41Speaker 1: We'll row through all of this today. Let's start with,
- 0:44Speaker 1: do you have camo on because of the battle in Oxford?
- 0:47Speaker 1: We're all getting ready to go over there.
- 0:48Speaker 2: Just randomly have this rowback hoodie on.
- 0:52Speaker 1: Okay, get ready. Get ready because Siskey told us on
- 0:56Speaker 1: the show yesterday he was going to the grocery store
- 0:58Speaker 1: with his wife. Then they were going to go home,
- 1:01Speaker 1: and he wasn't going to leave his house Thursday, Friday, Saturday,
- 1:05Speaker 1: and Sunday.
- 1:06Speaker 2: Sounds fun, actually.
- 1:08Speaker 1: It really does. I kind of envied him when he
- 1:10Speaker 1: said that. Treating like a snow day. And he told
- 1:15Speaker 1: us about the banners and everything. Tyler, get it ready,
- 1:17Speaker 1: but don't put it up yet. An Ole Miss student
- 1:19Speaker 1: got arrested yesterday. And he tells those that are covering
- 1:24Speaker 1: the story, for a banner that wasn't even on his house,
- 1:28Speaker 1: he ends up getting arrested because he misspelled, or the
- 1:32Speaker 1: officer didn't write it down, his name when the officer
- 1:35Speaker 1: was questioning him about the banner at his house. And
- 1:38Speaker 1: he's like, it's not my house. And apparently the officer
- 1:41Speaker 1: says he gave him the wrong name, so that's why
- 1:42Speaker 1: he was arrested, taken in. That is an arrestable offense,
- 1:46Speaker 1: but boy, it sounds like.
- 1:48Speaker 2: I mean, filling out a false police report.
- 1:52Speaker 1: The officer went to the house because of this banner.
- 1:55Speaker 1: If you've got kids, don't watch it, but here's the
- 1:57Speaker 1: banner in Oxford that gets us arrested. Tyler, thank you.
- 2:01Speaker 1: Ole Miss student arrested on Tuesday for an obscene bed
- 2:04Speaker 1: sheet hanging out. Kiffin did coke off of my and
- 2:08Speaker 1: two nice, well-drawn Sidney Sweeney's there for him.
- 2:12Speaker 3: Wow.
- 2:12Speaker 1: Man.
- 2:13Speaker 2: I mean, did we get confirmation on this?
- 2:15Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:15Speaker 1: It's not going to be the story. I mean, I
- 2:19Speaker 1: don't think anybody was questioning the facts of the bed sheet.
- 2:21Speaker 1: They just didn't think the bed sheet should be hanging
- 2:24Speaker 1: outside the house.
- 2:25Speaker 2: I don't know if you saw these crazy props for
- 2:27Speaker 2: Lane Kiffin's return.
- 2:29Speaker 1: Let's get to those. Bring that banner down there. Brown
- 2:33Speaker 1: does a lot of drawing for us on the sheet there.
- 2:35Speaker 1: Could you have drawn the body parts there as well? Well,
- 2:38Speaker 1: those are not symmetrical as I look at it. Well,
- 2:40Speaker 1: they never are in real life either.
- 2:41Speaker 4: That's exactly what I told Tyler.
- 2:43Speaker 1: What, that they're never symmetrical in real life?
- 2:45Speaker 4: They're a little lopsided sometimes.
- 2:47Speaker 1: Okay. You guys talk about a lot of things back
- 2:50Speaker 1: there in the background. Yeah, they do.
- 2:52Speaker 2: It's life back there, man. Real world stuff.
- 2:56Speaker 1: I mean, the younger guys back there, you guys are learning, right?
- 2:58Speaker 1: Left one, right one?
- 2:59Speaker 4: Scott's not that much younger than y'all, right?
- 3:02Speaker 1: Left, right, not always the same size. Don't do that
- 3:04Speaker 1: to Scottie. All right, so you've got some prop bets
- 3:07Speaker 1: on Lane Kiffin?
- 3:08Speaker 2: Yeah, I haven't gone through all these, but we get
- 3:10Speaker 2: these random... Every week we'll get three or four new,
- 3:13Speaker 2: whether it's NFL or college football related. But BetOnline put
- 3:17Speaker 2: these together. The first one, this one seems easy. Will
- 3:21Speaker 2: Lane Kiffin be wearing sunglasses when he steps off the bus?
- 3:23Speaker 1: Yes, 100%. Off the bus?
- 3:25Speaker 5: Yes.
- 3:25Speaker 1: It's an easy play on that.
- 3:26Speaker 2: Yes, minus 150, no plus one check.
- 3:28Speaker 1: The question will be whether he'll be wearing Kevlar when
- 3:31Speaker 1: he gets off the bus.
- 3:33Speaker 2: Will Lane Kiffin and Pete Golding make contact during pregame warm-ups?
- 3:36Speaker 1: 100%.
- 3:37Speaker 2: This no is minus 200. Yes, plus 150.
- 3:41Speaker 1: The only time I've ever seen that not happen was
- 3:44Speaker 1: Dennis Franchoni and Nick Saban.
- 3:45Speaker 2: You've got to purposely avoid each other.
- 3:49Speaker 1: You guys remember.
- 3:50Speaker 2: This looks like easy money.
- 3:51Speaker 1: You guys remember things I've said before. That's how Vegas
- 3:55Speaker 1: was built. One of the greatest moments in show history
- 3:58Speaker 1: when we carried the Jimbo Fisher press conference live the
- 4:01Speaker 1: day after you hosted the event with Nick Saban. And
- 4:03Speaker 1: Nick Saban said, they paid for everybody on the roster.
- 4:09Speaker 1: And Jim sitting there just shaking his head. It's all
- 4:12Speaker 1: over sports that are everywhere. And in a hastily called
- 4:15Speaker 1: press conference, they were like, I think Scott said, hey guys,
- 4:18Speaker 1: Jimbo Fisher's got a hastily called press conference. We're like, yes,
- 4:22Speaker 1: we'll carry it. Let's carry it live. Jimbo Fisher off script? Absolutely.
- 4:25Speaker 1: And Jimbo was pissed and he called him God and
- 4:28Speaker 1: all that. They played like a matter of months later,
- 4:31Speaker 1: and they hug at midfield, and Jimbo's got his kid
- 4:33Speaker 1: out there, and Saban's talking to his son. They're laughing.
- 4:36Speaker 1: They're laughing. I mean, these are coaches, man. They bury
- 4:38Speaker 1: this stuff.
- 4:39Speaker 2: I agree. That seems easy. Will a Kiffin-themed banner fly
- 4:43Speaker 2: over Vaught-Hemingway before kickoff?
- 4:45Speaker 1: Yes. Oh, on a plane?
- 4:46Speaker 2: Oh, yes. It's just such easy. Yes, minus 200, no
- 4:49Speaker 2: plus 150.
- 4:50Speaker 1: I don't even know if there's enough planes in Ole Miss,
- 4:53Speaker 1: in Mississippi, to support the business there. We should take
- 4:56Speaker 1: a plane from over here, and there's probably– people wanting
- 4:59Speaker 1: to buy a banner to fly over the stadium, and
- 5:02Speaker 1: they can't get a plane. We probably are leaving money
- 5:04Speaker 1: on the table not having a plane to fly banners
- 5:07Speaker 1: in Oxford this weekend.
- 5:08Speaker 2: Speaking of signs, will a Judas slash sellout theme sign
- 5:11Speaker 2: be seen during the broadcast?
- 5:14Speaker 1: Broadcast or game day? If I got game day on
- 5:16Speaker 1: that one, I would play yes, broadcast, I'd go no.
- 5:18Speaker 2: Broadcast minus 300, no, yes, plus 200.
- 5:20Speaker 4: People don't bring a lot of signs anymore.
- 5:21Speaker 1: We're drawing boobs. on, on signs. I don't think we're
- 5:26Speaker 1: going to go biblical with Judas. Yeah, it is.
- 5:28Speaker 2: But who was the old, uh, uh, oh my God, Chet,
- 5:32Speaker 2: who was the, the producer Monday night football?
- 5:34Speaker 1: Oh, uh, not Chet Holmgren, Chet. Um, Oh, I know
- 5:37Speaker 1: who you're talking about. What's his name?
- 5:38Speaker 2: Cause he, he would, he would love to look for
- 5:40Speaker 2: the women in the stands.
- 5:41Speaker 1: No, it was his philosophy actually.
- 5:43Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 5:43Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 5:43Speaker 2: But, but I think you get a lot more of
- 5:45Speaker 2: that now, especially when you're talking about Ole Miss and LSU.
- 5:48Speaker 1: But no, no, for those that don't know, when they
- 5:50Speaker 1: started college football coverage on ABC, um, Crowd cutaways of
- 5:55Speaker 1: young college females were part of the game plan, and
- 5:59Speaker 1: they still do it today. But you know where they
- 6:01Speaker 1: really do it? And Tyler will attest to this in
- 6:03Speaker 1: the back row, but you don't have to turn his
- 6:04Speaker 1: microphone on or anything. But the international feed during the
- 6:08Speaker 1: World Cup, Chet Holgrim, I think. Chet Forty. Chet Holgrim
- 6:12Speaker 1: was the basketball player, yeah. That's 100% was his plan,
- 6:14Speaker 1: and they still do it on the international feed in
- 6:16Speaker 1: the World Cup because every stoppage, it's always a– hot
- 6:22Speaker 1: female in the stands. Growing up, they never showed USC
- 6:25Speaker 1: without a heavy dose of the song girls.
- 6:27Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 6:27Speaker 1: I mean. The same way with the UCLA cheerleaders. Any
- 6:29Speaker 1: big play cut to the sidelines, the song girls in
- 6:31Speaker 1: the sweaters. I mean, it's great luck. But we still
- 6:33Speaker 1: do it to LT's point, the girl from Ole Miss. Oh,
- 6:36Speaker 1: I know. That went viral with her hands. Yeah, now
- 6:38Speaker 1: just the whole world gets in touch with you after
- 6:39Speaker 1: that happens. It's me, Brownie. I know I don't look
- 6:41Speaker 1: exactly like her, but this is her. You're flat chested.
- 6:45Speaker 1: The song girls were just, you know, they were off
- 6:47Speaker 1: in LA now. Now that girl's on TV. and everybody
- 6:51Speaker 1: knows how to get in touch with her in like
- 6:52Speaker 1: 30 seconds, and they're sending her DMs.
- 6:55Speaker 7: Any more?
- 6:55Speaker 2: Yeah. Which object will be thrown at Lane Kiffin first?
- 6:59Speaker 2: I'm going to give you the objects. You tell me
- 7:01Speaker 2: what you think is favored.
- 7:02Speaker 1: Can we guess an object first before you give us
- 7:04Speaker 1: the objects?
- 7:05Speaker 2: Yeah, sure. We'll do Family Feud. Survey says.
- 7:08Speaker 1: Bourbon bottle.
- 7:10Speaker 2: Bourbon bottle is.
- 7:13Speaker 1: Sometimes it's alcoholic. They would give you a ding on
- 7:15Speaker 1: that one. Wait a minute. My flawed thinking is they're
- 7:18Speaker 1: not going to throw it until it's empty. It won't
- 7:20Speaker 1: be empty until later in the game.
- 7:21Speaker 2: I can't believe bourbon bottle is not one of ten.
- 7:24Speaker 1: It's actually the one thing my friend Brian King got
- 7:28Speaker 1: hit with a bourbon bottle at an Ole Miss game
- 7:30Speaker 1: one time.
- 7:31Speaker 2: Was it at least plastic?
- 7:33Speaker 3: No.
- 7:33Speaker 1: The first time I ever went to an Ole Miss game,
- 7:35Speaker 1: I saw them throwing bourbon bottles onto the field in Oxford.
- 7:40Speaker 1: So he's an ink. Strike one. I'm going to try
- 7:43Speaker 1: to steal it. I'm going to say panties.
- 7:46Speaker 2: Panties not on here.
- 7:48Speaker 1: Does this have to be after the game starts? While
- 7:52Speaker 1: at Oxford.
- 7:53Speaker 4: This has got to have some history with it, right?
- 7:54Speaker 4: Like a mustard bottle or a golf ball.
- 7:58Speaker 2: Uh mustard bottle is actually third shortest odds plus.
- 8:02Speaker 1: 400 that's just a copycat golf.
- 8:04Speaker 2: Ball is 50 to 1 it's the ninth shortest i.
- 8:08Speaker 1: Wouldn't go either one of those all right what's the what's.
- 8:10Speaker 2: The batteries uh battery is 100 to 1 who's got
- 8:15Speaker 2: a battery on them that's what they do in new
- 8:16Speaker 2: york now batteries go in dildos dildos 40 to 1
- 8:19Speaker 2: oh are you serious yeah well i mean that's big
- 8:21Speaker 2: in the wmba it is yeah it's college football but Yeah.
- 8:25Speaker 2: I mean, it is Lane Kiffin. She was 25 to one.
- 8:28Speaker 2: Hotty toddy, which I.
- 8:29Speaker 1: Guess is a drink. I think I would have gotten
- 8:32Speaker 1: credit for that. You think you would have? I think so.
- 8:34Speaker 1: That's a bourbon drink. It's an alcoholic drink. It would
- 8:36Speaker 1: have gone. Bourbon drink.
- 8:37Speaker 2: Eight to one. A tortilla, which I thought that's more
- 8:40Speaker 2: Texas Tech. Six to one. Hard seltzer can. Five to one.
- 8:45Speaker 2: Mustard bottle. Four to one, beer can, three to one,
- 8:48Speaker 2: and the water bottle is your favorite.
- 8:49Speaker 1: Yeah, the water bottle was easy.
- 8:50Speaker 2: Because that's the one you can legally have in there.
- 8:53Speaker 2: Will Kiffin throw his visor at any point during the game?
- 8:56Speaker 1: During the game? Oh, like throw it down? That would
- 8:59Speaker 1: actually be a better thing to throw if people were
- 9:01Speaker 1: throwing Ole Miss visors at him. Yeah, because I bet that, well,
- 9:04Speaker 1: Pete still wears a visor. I was going to say,
- 9:06Speaker 1: I bet they've lost popularity, but Pete wears them, so
- 9:08Speaker 1: maybe not.
- 9:09Speaker 2: I personally don't know anybody that wears a visor.
- 9:12Speaker 1: You know, I play golf every day. I almost never
- 9:14Speaker 1: see him on the actual golf course. I'm not a
- 9:15Speaker 1: visor guy.
- 9:16Speaker 2: Never was.
- 9:16Speaker 1: Never looked good on me.
- 9:18Speaker 2: I don't think he looks good on anybody.
- 9:20Speaker 1: Then I started losing my hair, and then all of
- 9:22Speaker 1: a sudden you had that little forehead problem. If you
- 9:25Speaker 1: put the visor on where it's supposed to go, you
- 9:27Speaker 1: see my power alleys right there.
- 9:28Speaker 2: Well, I think it's more of a flex on, hey,
- 9:31Speaker 2: I'm not going to wear a hat because I've got hair.
- 9:33Speaker 2: Guys like Kirby, Pete Golding. Lane's thinning a little bit.
- 9:38Speaker 1: The thought behind the visor is it's a little bit
- 9:40Speaker 1: cooler because it doesn't trap the heat. Is that the thought?
- 9:42Speaker 1: But you still get the coverage? Is that the thought
- 9:44Speaker 1: behind the visor? I've never been able to wear them,
- 9:46Speaker 1: so I don't know.
- 9:48Speaker 2: But anyway, yes, plus 550. No, minus 1,000. Will Kiffin
- 9:52Speaker 2: say NFL during on-field halftime interview? It's kind of stupid.
- 9:57Speaker 2: No is minus 1,000. Yes, plus 550. What will happen
- 10:01Speaker 2: to Kiffin slash Golding on field postgame? Handshake only, hug embrace,
- 10:06Speaker 2: no handshake, physical altercation.
- 10:08Speaker 1: No, bro hug. They'll do the bro hug.
- 10:09Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 10:09Speaker 2: They'll dab it up and do the bro hug. That's
- 10:11Speaker 2: two to one. Handshake only is minus 150.
- 10:12Speaker 1: One of them will whisper something about, hey, you know
- 10:14Speaker 1: I didn't call that play right.
- 10:16Speaker 4: That's it.
- 10:17Speaker 1: I don't know if you saw... What game was that
- 10:18Speaker 1: at the end where the coach was... It was this
- 10:21Speaker 1: past weekend. Or no, maybe it was LSU and Clemson
- 10:24Speaker 1: where Kiffin was telling Dabo, hey, I hope you know.
- 10:26Speaker 1: And I didn't pay real close attention to the end
- 10:30Speaker 1: of that game, but he was telling Dabo something at
- 10:32Speaker 1: the end of the game. They scored a lot late. Yeah,
- 10:34Speaker 1: and I think he was telling Dabo, hey, look, I
- 10:36Speaker 1: hope you know. I didn't call that or something. You
- 10:38Speaker 1: couldn't really... All you could hear was him start to say,
- 10:41Speaker 1: I hope you know. And then at the volume... You know,
- 10:44Speaker 1: the crowd was so loud you couldn't hear what else
- 10:46Speaker 1: he said to Dabo. And you could just see Dabo like, oh, yeah, yeah,
- 10:49Speaker 1: we're good, we're good. Okay. More on LSU Ole Miss here.
- 10:52Speaker 1: Big story from yesterday that I'm not sure we'll pull.
- 10:55Speaker 1: It's not even believable. We'll pull the audience. But first,
- 10:58Speaker 1: our friends at Hard Rock Bet, they bring you the show.
- 11:00Speaker 1: And we'd love for you to check out Hard Rock
- 11:02Speaker 1: Bet wherever you are, but just to see if you're
- 11:05Speaker 1: eligible where you are. But I'll tell you, if you're
- 11:07Speaker 1: in Florida, Hard Rock Bet is Florida's only legal sports book.
- 11:11Speaker 1: If you're in Arizona, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, New Jersey, Ohio, Tennessee,
- 11:16Speaker 1: or Virginia, those are the states I have available right here.
- 11:19Speaker 1: Keep checking to see when Hard Rock Bet becomes available
- 11:22Speaker 1: in your area. And with football being back, it's the
- 11:24Speaker 1: best time of year for bettors to have a lot
- 11:26Speaker 1: of fun with Hard Rock Bet. They've got new features,
- 11:28Speaker 1: app updates, and promos. The welcome offer is a $ 5 bet,
- 11:32Speaker 1: gets you a $ 100 bonus bet. It's available to all customers,
- 11:36Speaker 1: that bonus bet is, not just the new ones. And
- 11:39Speaker 1: you have a lot of fun there in the state
- 11:40Speaker 1: of Florida. The only legal sports book making it, therefore,
- 11:43Speaker 1: the most trustworthy option in the market as well. Hardrock.bet
- 11:47Speaker 1: backslash clay. Hardrock.bet backslash clay. Now, LT said, not even believable. Yesterday,
- 11:55Speaker 1: the first availability report came out. Sam Levitt listed as
- 12:00Speaker 1: doubtful for the game, starting quarterback for LSU. Upper body
- 12:05Speaker 1: is what is being reported. Now, it's coming out that
- 12:08Speaker 1: It is a sore throwing shoulder, and he did not
- 12:12Speaker 1: throw in practice yesterday. Pete Thamel adding to the report
- 12:16Speaker 1: this morning saying, in contact with Ole Miss, nobody on
- 12:20Speaker 1: the Ole Miss staff believe this is a sincere injury.
- 12:25Speaker 2: This is so stupid. I mean, just silly. And he'll
- 12:29Speaker 2: end up getting fined for this. I don't really think
- 12:32Speaker 2: Lane Kiffin cares about fines at all.
- 12:33Speaker 1: I don't know how the fine system works. Like if
- 12:35Speaker 1: he's upgraded today– If it was believed to be $ 25, 000,
- 12:40Speaker 1: is it if it's your first offense? So he was
- 12:43Speaker 1: listed officially as doubtful. So if he's upgraded today to probable,
- 12:47Speaker 1: I can't remember what they call it. Questionable is next.
- 12:50Speaker 1: They use the same as the NFL, I believe. And
- 12:52Speaker 1: then by Saturday, supposedly, he's got to be cleared or whatever. Probable.
- 12:57Speaker 1: I mean, I don't know how the fine works. I
- 12:59Speaker 1: don't know if he upgrades them day by day. I
- 13:02Speaker 1: do know that Furman has frequently said on this show,
- 13:04Speaker 1: Todd Furman, when we ask about injuries... whether it involves
- 13:08Speaker 1: Lane Kiffin or not, he'll kind of take a side
- 13:09Speaker 1: shot at Lane Kiffin. I think Lane, I don't pay
- 13:11Speaker 1: that close attention to the availability reports because of this
- 13:15Speaker 1: very reason. I don't think most of them are accurate.
- 13:18Speaker 1: I think a lot of You know, monkey business goes
- 13:21Speaker 1: on with these. But Furman, you know, will basically say
- 13:23Speaker 1: Lane Kiffin's the one guy you can't believe on an
- 13:25Speaker 1: injury report.
- 13:25Speaker 2: Yeah, but the only thing that's really going to get
- 13:27Speaker 2: your attention on an injury report is going to be
- 13:29Speaker 2: your starting quarterback.
- 13:30Speaker 1: That's correct.
- 13:30Speaker 2: To do it yesterday, this week, after paper served on
- 13:33Speaker 2: the other side. This is really becoming, I mean, we
- 13:36Speaker 2: knew it would be a circus. But, like, they don't
- 13:39Speaker 2: need to add to the circus. The circus is the
- 13:42Speaker 2: fans and the storylines. but why you would list him
- 13:45Speaker 2: as doubtful. And look, maybe he is.
- 13:47Speaker 1: I seriously doubt he is doubtful. Well, the only other
- 13:51Speaker 1: big game they've had was the opener with Clemson. And
- 13:53Speaker 1: what was the distraction around that was all the NFL
- 13:57Speaker 1: players trying to get on the roster. So we're this week,
- 14:00Speaker 1: and this appears to be another weekly distraction from Lane
- 14:05Speaker 1: Kiffin that maybe unifies the locker room or something. I
- 14:08Speaker 1: don't know how he plays it, but I'm with you.
- 14:10Speaker 1: When it instantly went down, I was like, this is
- 14:12Speaker 1: just Lane Kiffin playing games. I feel bad for Sam
- 14:14Speaker 1: Leavitt if he's really doubtful because nobody believes it.
- 14:17Speaker 2: Yeah, nobody believes it. I just think we would have
- 14:20Speaker 2: heard something before. Like after the Louisiana Tech game, you
- 14:24Speaker 2: absolutely heard nothing.
- 14:26Speaker 1: Now, I would say that this could be a way
- 14:28Speaker 1: for the coaching staff to try to cover up three
- 14:32Speaker 1: really bad interceptions in the La Tech game. for a
- 14:35Speaker 1: guy who hopes to have an NFL future. That could
- 14:37Speaker 1: be it. Then you're sitting here, you're going to be
- 14:39Speaker 1: able to tell the NFL scouts. He was even doubtful afterwards.
- 14:42Speaker 1: He was dealing with a shoulder issue. That's why he
- 14:44Speaker 1: threw three interceptions.
- 14:45Speaker 2: Possibly. I think if he plays to what he's capable
- 14:49Speaker 2: of doing and LSU plays to their level, I don't
- 14:52Speaker 2: think a lot of people will remember those interceptions.
- 14:55Speaker 1: I know they're trying to be– the reason there's a
- 15:00Speaker 1: fine is they're trying to get these injury reports to
- 15:02Speaker 1: be more accurate in the NFL.
- 15:04Speaker 2: I'll tell you who doesn't believe it real quick, Brown,
- 15:06Speaker 2: is Vegas. It dipped for one second because I think
- 15:08Speaker 2: it was like an immediate reaction. Oh my God, something's
- 15:11Speaker 2: wrong with Sam Leavitt. And it goes from LSU two
- 15:13Speaker 2: and a half to one. And then almost immediately when
- 15:16Speaker 2: everybody processed it, it went right back to two and
- 15:18Speaker 2: a half.
- 15:18Speaker 1: So in the NFL, if Matt Stafford does not practice today,
- 15:21Speaker 1: the Rams have to report that. They can call it,
- 15:24Speaker 1: I think, rest, or they have to give him a
- 15:27Speaker 1: designation on the injury report. And then by a certain period,
- 15:30Speaker 1: He's either probable or he cannot play. Like, he can't play.
- 15:36Speaker 1: There's not like, oh, he woke up. We had a
- 15:37Speaker 1: miracle recovery last night. Sorry, he was on the injury
- 15:39Speaker 1: report X amount of hours ago. He can't play. Until
- 15:42Speaker 1: you do that in the Southeastern Conference or the Big
- 15:45Speaker 1: Ten or college football in general, you're never going to
- 15:47Speaker 1: get these things to be 100% accurate. Not 100%, but
- 15:50Speaker 1: they do have fines, and the commissioner has the ability
- 15:54Speaker 1: to even do more than the financial fine if he
- 15:57Speaker 1: chooses that it's somebody– manipulating it. But Bill Belichick has
- 16:01Speaker 1: always manipulated it with Tom Brady back in the day.
- 16:03Speaker 1: Tom Brady always started the week out on the injury report.
- 16:06Speaker 1: And magically would be off by the deadline so that
- 16:08Speaker 1: Tom Brady could play. And I think Lane Kiffin has
- 16:12Speaker 1: probably adopted this as well. I think he's doing the
- 16:14Speaker 1: same thing. None of us believe this. Sam Leavitt will
- 16:18Speaker 1: absolutely start the game and play the whole game unless
- 16:21Speaker 1: he gets hurt. To Lance's point, here's cut seven, Brooks.
- 16:25Speaker 1: Lane Kiffin about all the circus around Him and Pete
- 16:29Speaker 1: Golding this week.
- 16:31Speaker 7: I know, obviously, a lot's going to be made about me,
- 16:34Speaker 7: but this is about the players being prepared really well
- 16:36Speaker 7: and playing really well. Pete's not going to tackle anybody.
- 16:40Speaker 7: I'm not going to throw any touchdowns. I used to
- 16:43Speaker 7: say the same thing when we played Coach Saban. Then
- 16:47Speaker 7: he joked that he wouldn't do very well in coverage
- 16:49Speaker 7: at his age. But this is about our guys like
- 16:53Speaker 7: I talked to him today. This is the first SEC game.
- 16:57Speaker 7: Both teams are 2-0, and we've got to prepare really well.
- 17:00Speaker 7: It won't be about all the other stuff and all
- 17:02Speaker 7: the noise and everything. It'll be about how well did
- 17:04Speaker 7: we practice, how well did we prepare, so how well
- 17:06Speaker 7: did we play on game day, going into a place
- 17:09Speaker 7: that has had a lot of success there. You're going
- 17:11Speaker 7: to play a team that has the second-longest win streak
- 17:14Speaker 7: in the country, second-long home streak in the country, has
- 17:18Speaker 7: phenomenal players. As you look at last year at the
- 17:21Speaker 7: end of the season, you're talking about the best-playing quarterback,
- 17:25Speaker 7: running back, and kicker in the country, you know, coming back.
- 17:29Speaker 7: That's going to put you in a position to win
- 17:30Speaker 7: a lot of games. So we're going to have to
- 17:33Speaker 7: prepare really well and play really well in all areas.
- 17:37Speaker 2: You know, the last three have been decided by one possession.
- 17:39Speaker 2: Ole Miss has won two of the last three. I've
- 17:42Speaker 2: just got a feeling because of all this silliness outside
- 17:45Speaker 2: of the game, it's not going to live up to
- 17:46Speaker 2: the expectation. I hope it does.
- 17:48Speaker 1: I asked you guys that yesterday. Do you actually think
- 17:49Speaker 1: this will be a good game?
- 17:50Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 17:51Speaker 1: I mean, so much airtime offseason and this week leading
- 17:54Speaker 1: into it that it often could be like a 1980s
- 17:58Speaker 1: Super Bowl. It could be just a dud of a game.
- 18:01Speaker 2: I think two really good teams. I think LSU's probably
- 18:04Speaker 2: a little more talented, but Ole Miss is at home.
- 18:07Speaker 2: They've got the better quarterback. I mean, this should be,
- 18:09Speaker 2: and one of the reasons they're only a two-and-a-half point favorite,
- 18:12Speaker 2: this should be a game that goes down to the wire,
- 18:14Speaker 2: but because of all of this other stuff, Um, I
- 18:17Speaker 2: think we're going to sit there at six 30. We're
- 18:19Speaker 2: going to be so excited. And second half, we're going
- 18:21Speaker 2: to be like, damn, this is a dud. I don't
- 18:22Speaker 2: know how it plays out, but that's just the way
- 18:25Speaker 2: it seems. I hope I'm wrong.
- 18:26Speaker 4: Good news is I.
- 18:27Speaker 1: Think we'll have a great game going on TV too,
- 18:29Speaker 1: with Florida and Auburn. Brooks, this would, I think it'd
- 18:32Speaker 1: be a pretty good poll question. Maybe not. You guys
- 18:35Speaker 1: can shoot it down at next round live and on
- 18:37Speaker 1: the socials at next round live.
- 18:39Speaker 4: Um, but see if this is good.
- 18:42Speaker 1: And you answer the question for me here. First Brooks, um,
- 18:45Speaker 1: Will LSU-Ole Miss be more chippy, nastier than a typical
- 18:54Speaker 1: Ole Miss-Mississippi State game, the Egg Bowl, known as one
- 18:57Speaker 1: of the dirtiest, nastiest, most heated rivalries when they actually
- 19:02Speaker 1: play on the field? You get a lot of intensity
- 19:03Speaker 1: and stuff go on. Do y'all think this will be chippier,
- 19:08Speaker 1: Egg Bowl-like, or not up to what we've seen over
- 19:11Speaker 1: the years, sometimes on Thanksgiving night?
- 19:14Speaker 2: It probably will be chippy.
- 19:16Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah. Will this game be chippier than an Egg Bowl?
- 19:19Speaker 2: I don't know. Depends on how it plays out.
- 19:23Speaker 1: I do feel like where Mississippi State's been recently and
- 19:26Speaker 1: where Ole Miss has been recently, Ole Miss fans are
- 19:29Speaker 1: obviously more fired up for this game than they've been
- 19:31Speaker 1: in recent Egg Bowls.
- 19:32Speaker 2: I think the fans are definitely going to be chippy.
- 19:34Speaker 1: Yeah, chippy in the stands 100%. It'll be interesting to
- 19:38Speaker 1: see if we get anything on the field with this.
- 19:40Speaker 1: Chippy in the governor's house. Can you give me the
- 19:42Speaker 1: governor's tweet? uh yes uh two days ago we had
- 19:46Speaker 1: uh uma prince uma me alan with no g on
- 19:53Speaker 1: the end i did a lot of research last night
- 19:55Speaker 1: no g on the end um prince got served papers
- 20:00Speaker 1: in the lsu parking lot for nil money perceived to
- 20:05Speaker 1: be owed back to old miss the governor of louisiana
- 20:08Speaker 1: jumped in on Twitter with this tweet. The process server
- 20:12Speaker 1: found Prince Will in the LSU football ops parking lot.
- 20:16Speaker 1: Keith Carter, AD at Ole Miss, could have saved Ole
- 20:19Speaker 1: Miss some money and waited until Saturday. He'll be easy
- 20:21Speaker 1: to find in the Ole Miss backfield often. That's from
- 20:24Speaker 1: the governor of Louisiana. I mean, this is the guy
- 20:27Speaker 1: running LSU sports. Again, if I.
- 20:29Speaker 2: Hit a pothole on the way in and I'm in Monroe, Louisiana,
- 20:34Speaker 2: you know, hey, let's worry about more significant things than
- 20:38Speaker 2: whether or not he's going to be in Ole Miss' backfield.
- 20:41Speaker 1: What a ridiculous tweet. I mean, this guy is just
- 20:44Speaker 1: ridiculous as a whole. And, again, I'll go back. This
- 20:46Speaker 1: is the whole reason the SEC's wound up in LSU.
- 20:49Speaker 1: And when I say the SEC, I mean 15 other
- 20:51Speaker 1: schools because of this guy right there, that guy right there.
- 20:54Speaker 2: I mean, if you're an LSU fan, I mean, between
- 20:56Speaker 2: your coach and your governor, how embarrassing.
- 20:59Speaker 1: The fun really kicks off tonight. A lot of people
- 21:02Speaker 1: in town. Ella Langley in concert tonight. And then it's
- 21:05Speaker 1: the day before the game tomorrow. Is she doing two nights?
- 21:09Speaker 1: Is she doing Thursday and Friday? Do you know? I
- 21:11Speaker 1: thought it was just tonight. It may just be. I
- 21:13Speaker 1: was just curious.
- 21:13Speaker 2: Can we tell who Lane is following on? Because I
- 21:15Speaker 2: guarantee he's following Ella Langley.
- 21:17Speaker 1: Oh, I'm sure he is. I would imagine Lane's official account,
- 21:21Speaker 1: we can't see who he follows on. I have no idea.
- 21:24Speaker 1: On Twitter.
- 21:25Speaker 2: I don't know. That would be, I guess, a question
- 21:27Speaker 2: for Brooks, our social media director. Brooks, can you?
- 21:31Speaker 1: Well, I mean, I easily could look it up, too,
- 21:33Speaker 1: but I don't think you can.
- 21:35Speaker 4: Yeah, you can see who people follow.
- 21:36Speaker 1: You can, yeah. Yeah, but you've got to dig and
- 21:38Speaker 1: dig and dig. I mean, some people can block that
- 21:42Speaker 1: from being seen. Sometimes you have to dig, though, because
- 21:44Speaker 1: it's based on the order in which you follow. I mean,
- 21:46Speaker 1: Lane Kiffin follows us. Yeah. Hey, Lane.
- 21:50Speaker 4: When he was a little more active, he would retweet
- 21:52Speaker 4: us quite a bit.
- 21:52Speaker 1: Yeah, I do remember that.
- 21:53Speaker 4: The only thing he's posting now is ads.
- 21:55Speaker 1: Yeah, I do appreciate it. I did appreciate all those retweets.
- 21:58Speaker 1: They helped us. The first person he's listed he's following
- 22:01Speaker 1: in my book is Michael Bonet, the great sports information
- 22:04Speaker 1: director at LSU. Got to follow him.
- 22:06Speaker 2: I was just wondering if Lane might make, I mean,
- 22:09Speaker 2: I know it's a big week, but I wonder if
- 22:10Speaker 2: he makes a run at Ella.
- 22:12Speaker 1: While you're in town.
- 22:14Speaker 4: I see that he follows Vanity Fair.
- 22:15Speaker 1: I would imagine. Why not? He follows former Auburn player
- 22:20Speaker 1: Heath Evans. Okay. Yep. Just a ton of others. I mean,
- 22:25Speaker 1: I don't know if this is in any random order. Well,
- 22:27Speaker 1: it's an order in which you follow them, I think,
- 22:30Speaker 1: is the way that works. Nope. Maybe I can only
- 22:33Speaker 1: see the ones he's following that I'm also following. Yeah,
- 22:35Speaker 1: the mutual? Yeah. So you're also following. Oh, yeah. I
- 22:38Speaker 1: didn't know I was following Michael. That would have been awesome.
- 22:40Speaker 1: That would have been awesome if Dunaway started reeling all names.
- 22:43Speaker 1: I'm following Vanity Fair. It's only mutual follows.
- 22:46Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 22:46Speaker 1: All right. So when we come back, we'll talk about
- 22:48Speaker 1: what's on the field tonight. Two good football games. NFL,
- 22:53Speaker 1: Lions and Bills as they open up the new stadium
- 22:55Speaker 1: and Syracuse and Pitt in college football. A little preview
- 22:59Speaker 1: on what's on the gridiron tonight when we come back
- 23:01Speaker 1: on the next round presented by Hard Rock Bets here
- 23:03Speaker 1: on Sporting State. Back with you on the next round
- 23:07Speaker 1: presented by Sporting State and our great friends at Hard
- 23:10Speaker 1: Rock Bets. A little interesting video yesterday in Tampa. Brooks
- 23:16Speaker 1: rolled a video here. This is Baker Mayfield walking up
- 23:21Speaker 1: to get to his news conference. And you've got to
- 23:24Speaker 1: punch that up back there, Tyler, for people to see it.
- 23:26Speaker 1: There you go. That's Baker at his news conference dressed
- 23:31Speaker 1: in a Michigan tank top. Because of a little in-locker
- 23:35Speaker 1: room bet, he's an Oklahoma guy. Todd Bowles' son is
- 23:40Speaker 1: a linebacker at Michigan. And so the head coach and
- 23:44Speaker 1: Baker had a little bet going, and Baker had to
- 23:46Speaker 1: roll out there in an undersized position. michigan outfit for
- 23:49Speaker 1: his weekly news conference last night.
- 23:51Speaker 2: I saw this clip but i i you see how
- 23:53Speaker 2: the mic's care it's covering the m the block so
- 23:56Speaker 2: i didn't see that all i could see and i
- 23:58Speaker 2: was like why is he wearing like a safety vest
- 24:01Speaker 2: yeah exactly i couldn't tell what it was it looks
- 24:03Speaker 2: like a homemade michigan jersey and it's undersized and everything
- 24:06Speaker 2: but todd bowles is in the background singing uh hell
- 24:09Speaker 2: to the victors as he's walking in and i didn't
- 24:13Speaker 2: know bowles's son First of all, Todd looks old to me.
- 24:16Speaker 1: I don't know how old my head coach is, but
- 24:18Speaker 1: he looks old to me.
- 24:19Speaker 2: I mean, I can't tell. I guess Todd Bowles is 55. Yeah,
- 24:23Speaker 2: I would say mid-50s. I mean, black don't crack. Leonard
- 24:25Speaker 2: Hamilton for years, Florida State's old coach. I mean, he
- 24:29Speaker 2: was in his 70s. He looked like he was 40.
- 24:31Speaker 1: I was going to put 59 or 60 on Todd Bowles. 62. Yeah.
- 24:35Speaker 1: Lance is right. Yeah. So his son, if I heard
- 24:39Speaker 1: it right, not grandson, but his son plays at Michigan.
- 24:42Speaker 2: Interesting. Baker looks like a guy that would drive a Camaro.
- 24:45Speaker 1: He does. I don't disagree.
- 24:47Speaker 4: Or a tractor. How old until the backwards hat ages out?
- 24:54Speaker 4: He's in his 30s now.
- 24:55Speaker 2: And Baker can still do it. Dan Quinn, I mean,
- 24:58Speaker 2: we've got to do something about Dan Quinn. Because he's
- 25:01Speaker 2: a shitty coach, too.
- 25:04Speaker 4: Closest Falcons ever came to a Super Bowl.
- 25:06Speaker 1: Oh, I get it.
- 25:07Speaker 2: He's the guy that was in charge when they blew it.
- 25:09Speaker 1: He wasn't the head coach, though, right?
- 25:11Speaker 4: Yeah, he was the head coach.
- 25:11Speaker 1: He was the head coach, yeah.
- 25:13Speaker 2: He's a pretty good coordinator, though, right? Yeah, he's regarded
- 25:16Speaker 2: as one. Yeah, he's regarded as a really good coordinator. But,
- 25:19Speaker 2: you know, I mean, the facts are the facts. I mean,
- 25:20Speaker 2: three of his last four years have been losing years
- 25:22Speaker 2: as a head coach.
- 25:24Speaker 1: When you lose your quarterback, though, a lot, that hurts.
- 25:27Speaker 2: But they've run Jaden Daniels on the ground. You know
- 25:29Speaker 2: he's lost his last four starts?
- 25:31Speaker 1: Andy Reid, for instance, missed the playoffs last year, and
- 25:34Speaker 1: he's one of the best of all time. By the way,
- 25:36Speaker 1: the Andy Reid, the State Farm commercial. He's got a
- 25:38Speaker 1: lot of equity, though. The State Farm commercial that airs
- 25:40Speaker 1: during the college games, and Andy Reid, like Patrick Mahomes,
- 25:43Speaker 1: runs up the hill, and Andy Reid gets to the
- 25:44Speaker 1: top of the hill. Have you seen it? I love
- 25:48Speaker 1: the way he just leans into, I'm a fat guy,
- 25:50Speaker 1: and I'm out of shape. You know what I'm learning
- 25:52Speaker 1: is that we see different commercials. Yeah, YouTube TV does that.
- 25:56Speaker 1: I never saw, we have a gubernatorial race happening in
- 25:59Speaker 1: the state of Alabama if you're watching outside the state.
- 26:01Speaker 2: I got all Texas last weekend. I get a lot
- 26:02Speaker 2: of Texas. I did not get any. And boy, they
- 26:05Speaker 2: sling some mud in Texas.
- 26:06Speaker 1: I did not see one Tommy Tuberville ad and you
- 26:09Speaker 1: guys were talking about it was running nonstop. It was nonstop.
- 26:11Speaker 1: Him with the truck and the bumper sticker. Man, my wife.
- 26:13Speaker 2: Hey, Tuberville's got a mullet now.
- 26:14Speaker 1: My wife initially thought it was a Ford Trucks commercial
- 26:18Speaker 1: and she was like, why did Golish not do that?
- 26:20Speaker 1: And I was like, maybe that is a, that's an
- 26:22Speaker 1: advertising campaign. She goes, Oh, I thought he was doing
- 26:24Speaker 1: a truck commercial when I first looked at it.
- 26:25Speaker 2: What's he standing on taxes? Oh, I don't know.
- 26:28Speaker 4: He's got two points. Do you all have different TV providers?
- 26:31Speaker 1: I was watching over the air, which would have been
- 26:34Speaker 1: ABC 3340, I guess, for that game. That was on
- 26:37Speaker 1: YouTube TV. It was Fox.
- 26:38Speaker 4: What, on antenna?
- 26:39Speaker 1: Yeah, off the air antenna.
- 26:41Speaker 4: That's why you get different ones. Yeah.
- 26:44Speaker 1: It's a little less expensive to just broadcast on the.
- 26:47Speaker 4: Yeah, you're getting whatever they're paying to go over the
- 26:50Speaker 4: national commercials.
- 26:51Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 26:52Speaker 4: Maybe some local ones. They do this fun little thing
- 26:55Speaker 4: called geofencing. That's right.
- 26:57Speaker 1: We do, too. Yeah.
- 26:59Speaker 2: I'm going to assume the reason we got all these
- 27:02Speaker 2: Texas was because of the game last week.
- 27:03Speaker 1: Yeah, because the games, when Texas has a big Texas
- 27:09Speaker 1: school that's playing, they know most of Texas is watching,
- 27:12Speaker 1: just like if Alabama and Auburn's playing. You can know that, hey,
- 27:17Speaker 1: there's going to be a lot of Alabama and Auburn
- 27:18Speaker 1: people watching, so you can run ads in those things,
- 27:20Speaker 1: even if you buy Buy it on the local stations.
- 27:24Speaker 2: Yeah, Ohio seemed quiet last week.
- 27:26Speaker 1: I don't care. They don't have big race. No big race.
- 27:28Speaker 1: No big race there, yeah. Hey, our friends at Crockett
- 27:30Speaker 1: Coffee ready to roll. You start your mornings off with

- 28:26Speaker 1: doing some good. CrockettCoffee.com. That's Crockett, C-R-O-C-K-E-T-T, CrockettCoffee.com. All right, tonight,
- 28:37Speaker 1: real quickly, the college game is Syracuse in Pittsburgh, 630
- 28:41Speaker 1: on ESPN. More on the NFL game in just a second.
- 28:44Speaker 1: I'm excited because if you watch the show Upset Alert,
- 28:47Speaker 1: I have Syracuse tonight. So that makes for a fun
- 28:50Speaker 1: Thursday night viewing for me that I can try to
- 28:52Speaker 1: cheer for that. Other than that, Pitt looks to be
- 28:55Speaker 1: the better team. But what about their offense last week
- 28:59Speaker 1: against UCF?
- 29:00Speaker 6: It.
- 29:00Speaker 2: Went into a shell, but Mason Heinzel, the quarterback, had
- 29:05Speaker 2: seven touchdowns to seven different receivers week one. I think
- 29:08Speaker 2: the offense is better than they showed. This Narduzzi defense
- 29:11Speaker 2: is holding opponents to 25 yards rushing per game. But
- 29:15Speaker 2: if you go back to this matchup last year where
- 29:17Speaker 2: Pittsburgh ended up running away with it sparingly, Syracuse had
- 29:20Speaker 2: 15 penalties. Angeli threw three picks. Of course, he threw
- 29:23Speaker 2: three picks last week, blowing the lead to Cal. He's
- 29:27Speaker 2: going to have to play clean football for them to
- 29:28Speaker 2: have any shot on the road. I think Pitt's sneaky
- 29:31Speaker 2: good this year.
- 29:31Speaker 1: You think Pitt is sneaky good?
- 29:33Speaker 2: I don't think I'm going to give out this game tonight.
- 29:36Speaker 2: I think I'm just playing the NFL.
- 29:38Speaker 1: But I've got a shot, right? I've got a shot.
- 29:40Speaker 1: with Syracuse. You've got a shot, yeah.
- 29:41Speaker 2: But again, they're going to have to play clean football.
- 29:42Speaker 2: I mean, they were a mess last year in this game.
- 29:44Speaker 1: And Jelly, the quarterback for Syracuse, both games over 300 yards,
- 29:48Speaker 1: I think, so far.
- 29:49Speaker 7: Yep.
- 29:50Speaker 1: And Cal's not a bad team. I have a friend, Kevin,
- 29:52Speaker 1: that texted me. He said, I'm all over Pitt. You're
- 29:55Speaker 1: horrible with your upset alert this week. Pitt's going to
- 29:56Speaker 1: win this game. And he was like, they lost to
- 29:59Speaker 1: a bad Cal team last week. And I was like,
- 30:01Speaker 1: Cal's not bad. I don't think Cal's a bad team
- 30:02Speaker 1: at all.
- 30:03Speaker 2: I don't think Cal's bad.
- 30:04Speaker 1: You weren't big on Tosh Lapoi, though. You didn't think
- 30:07Speaker 1: he looked the part against UCLA.
- 30:08Speaker 2: Yeah, the fourth quarter, I decided he got really outcoached
- 30:10Speaker 2: against Bob Chesney. Now, a lot of that was turnovers, too.
- 30:12Speaker 2: I mean, again, that's the ultimate equalizer here. Narduzzi, one
- 30:18Speaker 2: little note on that, will be coaching game number 144.
- 30:21Speaker 2: Will pass Jock Sutherland for the all-time active– most in
- 30:27Speaker 2: school history games that he's coached.
- 30:29Speaker 1: So nobody's coached more games at Pitt than Narduzzi after tonight.
- 30:33Speaker 2: I don't know who Jack Sutherland is. Apparently he coached
- 30:36Speaker 2: from the 24 to 38.
- 30:37Speaker 1: But instantly you go Johnny Majors won a national championship there.
- 30:42Speaker 2: And then Dave Wanstead was there.
- 30:45Speaker 1: Yeah, but the guy that Jackie Sherrill followed up. Jackie
- 30:48Speaker 1: Sherrill's the one that had Marino.
- 30:50Speaker 2: Narduzzi's been there for a minute. A lot of people
- 30:51Speaker 2: forget he won an ACC championship.
- 30:54Speaker 1: He's a... I don't know. He's a hard coach. I
- 30:57Speaker 1: feel like he's kind of hard coach to like, I
- 30:59Speaker 1: hate to say that about a guy I've never met.
- 31:00Speaker 2: But he's got one of those looks with the Amber
- 31:03Speaker 2: vision glasses.
- 31:04Speaker 1: It looks like he'd just be a complete, you know,
- 31:06Speaker 1: you know what? Um, See, by the way, I've got
- 31:08Speaker 1: to get glasses here recently.
- 31:10Speaker 2: He looks like the neighbor that would blow leaves.
- 31:12Speaker 1: Yeah. Maggie wants me to. She was like, you need
- 31:15Speaker 1: to get the ones where you go outside to become sunglasses.
- 31:17Speaker 1: I was like, baby, if I sit in front of
- 31:18Speaker 1: these lights, I'm going to be doing this show with
- 31:20Speaker 1: sunglasses on. I can't do it. All you need to
- 31:22Speaker 1: do is watch Fox Big Noon kickoff and see how
- 31:24Speaker 1: bad it looks on every minor.
- 31:25Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 31:25Speaker 1: Do not do that. Yeah.
- 31:27Speaker 3: I'm not.
- 31:27Speaker 1: I've already told her. No.
- 31:29Speaker 3: I mean.
- 31:30Speaker 2: You did not tell her no.
- 31:32Speaker 1: Well, I said I'm probably not going to do that.
- 31:35Speaker 2: We'll see.
- 31:36Speaker 1: Is it a pain when you wear glasses to have
- 31:37Speaker 1: to go from the eyeglasses to the sunglasses? I just
- 31:41Speaker 1: don't wear sunglasses.
- 31:42Speaker 2: That's bad for your eyes.
- 31:44Speaker 1: Are you my optometrist now? No, but it is. She
- 31:47Speaker 1: said the same thing. She told you that.
- 31:48Speaker 2: You ought to go see Dr. Michelson. He'll tell you
- 31:51Speaker 2: what you need to do and what you don't need
- 31:52Speaker 2: to do. I think it's funny seeing coaches with readers.
- 31:55Speaker 2: Like Will Muschamp had readers the other night.
- 31:56Speaker 1: Oh, I know. When he was a head coach, it
- 31:58Speaker 1: was such a bad look. Because he does it like
- 32:00Speaker 1: this because I'm progressive. He does it like this. So
- 32:03Speaker 1: he's looking at the field and then he's reading his
- 32:05Speaker 1: sheet like this. Will is just one of those guys
- 32:07Speaker 1: that no matter what he does, he's going to look
- 32:08Speaker 1: sweaty and disheveled.
- 32:11Speaker 4: Jimbo did it too. Yeah, Jimbo did it too.
- 32:13Speaker 1: He'd be reading that play card down there. There is
- 32:16Speaker 1: no look worse than this. Yeah, down on the end
- 32:19Speaker 1: of your nose. Watching this way and then reading like this,
- 32:22Speaker 1: doing this and doing this. You know, when Jimbo used
- 32:24Speaker 1: to do it, that was back when we were still
- 32:26Speaker 1: recruiting and we weren't just paying players. Well, we were
- 32:28Speaker 1: paying players, but we were also recruiting.
- 32:30Speaker 2: Every single one.
- 32:31Speaker 3: I know.
- 32:32Speaker 1: And I always thought that just makes him look so
- 32:34Speaker 1: old on the sidelines. I wonder if people will start
- 32:36Speaker 1: using it against him. But now it doesn't matter.
- 32:38Speaker 2: Your coach has readers.
- 32:40Speaker 1: I did a speaking engagement right before the kickoff of
- 32:43Speaker 1: the season with Gene Chizik, and I left my glasses
- 32:46Speaker 1: at home. And when I got there, I was like, God,
- 32:48Speaker 1: I'm going to have to read all this script stuff
- 32:50Speaker 1: that they want me to say. So I ran down
- 32:51Speaker 1: to the local Walgreens. I think I may have them
- 32:53Speaker 1: with me. Oh, you bought some on the shelf? I
- 32:56Speaker 1: bought some readers, and I didn't look.
- 32:59Speaker 2: Is that like a universal thing if you go to
- 33:01Speaker 2: a drugstore? Are they different prescriptions? Do you have to
- 33:03Speaker 2: try on a bunch of different ones? Well, I think
- 33:05Speaker 2: you know your prescription, right? If you've got it, you
- 33:07Speaker 2: know what.
- 33:07Speaker 4: You're looking for. They also just have like $ 5 and
- 33:09Speaker 4: $ 10 pairs that are just pretty common prescriptions.
- 33:11Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 33:12Speaker 4: Because that's what my dad has raiders and he i
- 33:14Speaker 4: think he has like a dozen pair to land around
- 33:16Speaker 4: the house.
- 33:16Speaker 1: Well the one thing i didn't do and i didn't
- 33:18Speaker 1: know i didn't know this was a thing these.
- 33:20Speaker 2: Things are going to be smashed i know i can't
- 33:22Speaker 2: believe it's just got him in his.
- 33:23Speaker 1: Bag well anyway i thought i had them with me
- 33:26Speaker 1: yeah what was what was wrong oh here they are
- 33:28Speaker 1: okay here they are first off yeah with no case
- 33:31Speaker 1: roll damn tight first off look like shinara yeah so
- 33:34Speaker 1: i put them on two things one.
- 33:37Speaker 2: I mean, those are fraternal-like. Yeah.
- 33:40Speaker 1: One, I didn't know.
- 33:41Speaker 2: Get those up here and fry your eyeballs.
- 33:44Speaker 1: One, I didn't know, first off, that you had to
- 33:47Speaker 1: look to see how much the magnification is. Oh, you
- 33:52Speaker 1: thought they were just universal? Yeah, I thought they were
- 33:54Speaker 1: just readers. Good Lord. This is freaking 3.0.
- 33:58Speaker 2: You could probably fry ants from the window up here on.
- 34:03Speaker 1: The fourth floor. The letters are thick, man. The letters
- 34:06Speaker 1: right here are this big. But when I look up,
- 34:10Speaker 1: It's nothing but a blurred wall. Like I can't even
- 34:13Speaker 1: see Lance's face. I can't see anything.
- 34:15Speaker 2: It's just a wall of blur. We can see your eyes.
- 34:17Speaker 1: But you know what I did do? I didn't do
- 34:19Speaker 1: this during the whole thing. You fell through it? During
- 34:21Speaker 1: the whole thing, the whole crowd that was, I'm dizzy.
- 34:24Speaker 1: I got vertigo right now.
- 34:25Speaker 2: I'm kind of getting dizzy looking at that.
- 34:27Speaker 5: I do.
- 34:27Speaker 1: But the whole crowd, as I was watching the crowd,
- 34:29Speaker 1: it was just a sea of blur the whole night.
- 34:32Speaker 1: And I'm talking to Gene Chizik and it's just a blur.
- 34:34Speaker 1: I'm like... Yeah, that's right. You're not looking at good shows. Indeed.
- 34:37Speaker 1: He probably thought I was excited. I know. Did you
- 34:40Speaker 1: used to referee our games? Inside joke. I don't know
- 34:44Speaker 1: if we can see this weekend's results with those glasses.
- 34:46Speaker 4: Those look like the glasses the guy had on Trailer Park, boys.
- 34:49Speaker 4: You ever seen that show?
- 34:51Speaker 1: That's hilarious. NFL action tonight. Man, what a good game.
- 34:56Speaker 1: Lions and Bills. Lance will give out a winner, it
- 34:58Speaker 1: sounds like, at lanceslock.com. lanceslock.com. You can go to that.
- 35:04Speaker 1: One note in this game, first off, Lions down two
- 35:08Speaker 1: offensive linemen.
- 35:09Speaker 2: Yeah, well, it looks like they're going to, from the
- 35:11Speaker 2: starting five they had last week against New Orleans, only
- 35:14Speaker 2: two of those guys, and Panay Sewell and Tate Ratledge
- 35:17Speaker 2: are the only guys that are going to be starting.
- 35:20Speaker 2: Kind of a mix and match against this Buffalo defensive
- 35:23Speaker 2: front that really, I mean, they didn't impress me last week.
- 35:26Speaker 2: I thought the Texans offensively were able to do whatever
- 35:28Speaker 2: they wanted, but Josh Allen was just too good. It
- 35:31Speaker 2: will be the opening of the $ 2. 1 billion Highmark Stadium.
- 35:35Speaker 1: Not everybody can see clearly, though, as you've learned. We've
- 35:37Speaker 1: got some obstructed views.
- 35:39Speaker 2: Again, they're going to do another halftime show. I don't
- 35:40Speaker 2: understand these. It's one republic tonight.
- 35:43Speaker 4: Oh, wow.
- 35:44Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 35:45Speaker 1: That way is it.
- 35:46Speaker 2: Football game, man. I don't get into the halftime shows.
- 35:49Speaker 2: I understand why you do it for the Super Bowl,
- 35:50Speaker 2: but for these Thursday night games, it doesn't make a
- 35:53Speaker 2: lot of sense. Very interested to see. Joe Brady used
- 35:57Speaker 2: to coach under Dan Campbell as an offensive assistant with
- 36:00Speaker 2: the Saints back in 2016. Very interesting to see Jameer
- 36:04Speaker 2: Gibbs against this defense and DJ Moore on the other
- 36:07Speaker 2: side for the Bills. Much needed weapon for Josh Allen.
- 36:10Speaker 2: I think this is two really, really good teams. I'm
- 36:12Speaker 2: still scratching my head on how bad the Bills defense
- 36:15Speaker 2: was last week and how the Saints were able to
- 36:17Speaker 2: come back and almost win that game. A play away,
- 36:19Speaker 2: the two-point conversion from giving Detroit a horrific opening loss.
- 36:25Speaker 1: 21-0 with eight minutes to go in the third quarter.
- 36:27Speaker 6: 21-0.
- 36:28Speaker 1: Saints had done nothing with 21 minutes to go in
- 36:30Speaker 1: the third quarter. Now they got robbed on a Well,
- 36:33Speaker 1: I guess it was called by the rule. I just
- 36:34Speaker 1: didn't know it was a rule on the scoop and score.
- 36:38Speaker 1: But you're right. I mean, the Lions went in a
- 36:40Speaker 1: shell in the fourth quarter. It's almost, if you didn't
- 36:43Speaker 1: watch the game, just think of Texas-Ohio State. One team dominated,
- 36:47Speaker 1: and the whole criticism of Arthur Smith for Ohio State
- 36:50Speaker 1: is what the Lions did. They just went in that
- 36:52Speaker 1: NFL shell.
- 36:52Speaker 2: You know what Josh Allen is? He is Cam Newton
- 36:55Speaker 2: in Auburn. I mean, no, he is, but he is
- 36:57Speaker 2: so good.
- 36:58Speaker 1: He's carrying the whole team?
- 36:59Speaker 2: He carries the whole team. He did it last year.
- 37:01Speaker 2: I do think that they might be a little better
- 37:03Speaker 2: offensively with the addition of D.J. Moore, James Cook. Very
- 37:06Speaker 2: underrated running back. I don't know about the defense. I
- 37:09Speaker 2: like Jim Leonard. He is your defensive coordinator now. But
- 37:12Speaker 2: the defense looked really, really leaky week one. And I
- 37:15Speaker 2: don't know about Joe Brady as a head coach. I mean,
- 37:17Speaker 2: they're 1-0. It was a big road win.
- 37:19Speaker 1: Against a really good Texans team. Hey, we'll do our
- 37:24Speaker 1: survivor pool pick coming up later in the show. Brownie's out.
- 37:30Speaker 1: He did not survive week one. Do I get to
- 37:32Speaker 1: still participate?
- 37:33Speaker 2: No. Did you have the Chargers?
- 37:35Speaker 1: I had the Chargers. I mean, but I can participate,
- 37:37Speaker 1: but I'm down one point. I mean, I'm minus one
- 37:39Speaker 1: or something. You're literally called survivor. Yeah, but I need to–
- 37:42Speaker 1: I want to participate still. I'll take it. Your torch
- 37:46Speaker 1: has been extinguished. I'll pay my $ 20, and then I
- 37:48Speaker 1: get back in. Can I buy back in?
- 37:50Speaker 2: We have one. I set it up right before the
- 37:53Speaker 2: season last week. I sent it to six different guys,
- 37:56Speaker 2: and we put X amount of dollars in, and three
- 37:59Speaker 2: got wiped out, and they were like, can we buy
- 38:00Speaker 2: back in? So we talked about it, but we didn't let.
- 38:02Speaker 1: Them back in. Oh, I didn't let them buy back in. Yeah. Well,
- 38:05Speaker 1: then you can let them buy back in, but they
- 38:08Speaker 1: can't win the big price. They can't win the whole
- 38:10Speaker 1: pot or something. You can only get a percentage of
- 38:12Speaker 1: the pot.
- 38:12Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 38:14Speaker 1: At that point, they're competing. Second place gets the extra
- 38:17Speaker 1: buyback money.
- 38:18Speaker 2: Listen, me and guess who I've got this week. There's
- 38:25Speaker 2: three of us left, and two of us have got
- 38:26Speaker 2: the same team. We've got San Francisco against your Dolphins.
- 38:29Speaker 1: That's probably going to be a winner. Not who I'm
- 38:31Speaker 1: picking this week. I'll give you mine a little.
- 38:33Speaker 4: Bit later on.
- 38:33Speaker 1: If you let them buy back in, do they reset
- 38:35Speaker 1: their teams, or can you still not pick the team
- 38:37Speaker 1: you've already picked?
- 38:38Speaker 2: Oh, you can't reset your teams.
- 38:40Speaker 1: That's the way I would do it. Just consider this
- 38:43Speaker 1: the next time you do it. If you lose, you
- 38:46Speaker 1: buy back in, but the people that buy back in
- 38:48Speaker 1: are only competing for the second pot of money, their
- 38:52Speaker 1: buy back in money. Oh, okay. Yeah. And everybody that's
- 38:56Speaker 1: originally in it's competing for the overall. That's right.
- 38:58Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 38:59Speaker 4: That's right.
- 38:59Speaker 1: I like that.
- 39:00Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 39:01Speaker 2: Now, if your Bucs lose this week, then me and
- 39:04Speaker 2: our buddy Pete can make a decision if we just
- 39:07Speaker 2: split the pot at that point.
- 39:08Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 39:08Speaker 1: Because they'd be down to two. Yeah. Okay. So a
- 39:10Speaker 1: lot of people are on the Browns or on the Bucs.
- 39:13Speaker 2: Those are your two most popular. Listen to the guys
- 39:16Speaker 2: at VSEN this week. The two most popular survivor picks are.
- 39:20Speaker 2: are going to be. Nobody's going to touch the Chargers
- 39:22Speaker 2: as bad as they looked. Because you've got to feel
- 39:24Speaker 2: out how much better are the Raiders. Nobody's going to
- 39:26Speaker 2: touch the Rams coming back from Australia and the way
- 39:28Speaker 2: the Giants looked. Everybody right now. now is going, let's
- 39:31Speaker 2: fade Deshaun. And on the other side, San Francisco, although
- 39:34Speaker 2: they're coming back from Australia, they're playing your boys.
- 39:36Speaker 1: It's 13 and a half. You don't get two touchdowns
- 39:38Speaker 1: in the NFL. So you're going San Francisco.
- 39:39Speaker 2: I'm going San Francisco. Look, it doesn't seem like a
- 39:42Speaker 2: great play. But if they lose that game, I'd love
- 39:45Speaker 2: to see them lose. I want to lose my money.
- 39:47Speaker 1: I will go ahead and tell you mine, and we'll
- 39:49Speaker 1: get everyone's official pick later on. Maybe we'll let Brown
- 39:52Speaker 1: back in and make a pick, too. I can tell
- 39:54Speaker 1: you who I would pick if I was in.
- 39:56Speaker 3: How about that?
- 39:56Speaker 1: I'm taking Texans. I know it's a gamble. They're playing
- 39:59Speaker 1: the Bengals. Wait a minute. Texans over Bengals. You went
- 40:03Speaker 1: Bengals over Boggs, which was a nut sweater in a
- 40:06Speaker 1: survivor pool. I want you in my survivor pool. Is
- 40:12Speaker 1: the guy that lost laughing at me? Yeah, I am.
- 40:15Speaker 1: Are you hearing this? The guy that lost is laughing
- 40:17Speaker 1: at me? You went with a team that was like
- 40:18Speaker 1: a 3.5. It's the NFL, Brown.
- 40:22Speaker 3: I know.
- 40:22Speaker 2: But you can't play Houston again. Why would you not
- 40:25Speaker 2: save Houston for when they play the Titans in Houston?
- 40:27Speaker 1: I just need to be standing when the rest of
- 40:29Speaker 1: you are down. You're right. Well, you won't be. Not
- 40:32Speaker 1: with those picks. Texans is my play.
- 40:34Speaker 4: Yeah, Tyler's still in when we explain the rules to
- 40:36Speaker 4: him on the air.
- 40:37Speaker 1: I'm well aware. I'm the only one that's out.
- 40:39Speaker 2: It's one week.
- 40:40Speaker 1: Oh, my God. Nobody's got to tell me I'm the
- 40:42Speaker 1: only one out. I'm well aware of this. Forrester's not
- 40:45Speaker 1: here today. He's still in. I'm well aware of that. Brown,
- 40:47Speaker 1: you're out.
- 40:48Speaker 2: Do we have the Deshaun Watson cut from yesterday?
- 40:52Speaker 1: We don't.
- 40:53Speaker 2: My God, he is just. Tell everybody what it is. Well,
- 40:56Speaker 2: he just basically came out and he's talking about the
- 40:59Speaker 2: media's expectations for him now. Like the media expects me
- 41:02Speaker 2: to throw for 300 or 400 yards. I mean, it's
- 41:04Speaker 2: never Deshaun Watson's fault, right?
- 41:06Speaker 3: No.
- 41:07Speaker 2: It's the fan base that hates him. It's the media.
- 41:09Speaker 1: I don't think the media expects him to throw for
- 41:11Speaker 1: 400 yards.
- 41:11Speaker 2: I think he sucks. I think it is established. Whatever
- 41:15Speaker 2: happened from the injury and the off-field stuff, he sucks now.
- 41:19Speaker 1: The media actually expects you not to be the starter
- 41:21Speaker 1: in the home opener in week three. They expect Shador
- 41:24Speaker 1: Sanders to throw for some yards. All right. When we
- 41:25Speaker 1: come back, we'll jump back into some college football and
- 41:28Speaker 1: later on as well. We'll talk more NFL offenses. We've
- 41:32Speaker 1: got these cute little paddles here, hot or cold, on
- 41:36Speaker 1: some NFL offenses. They got off. That's a fire.
- 41:40Speaker 2: That's six fingers.
- 41:41Speaker 1: It's a flame. It's a flame. It's not fingers.
- 41:43Speaker 4: Said it looked like Wilson.
- 41:44Speaker 1: Yeah. Everybody was very critical of this. We'll talk about
- 41:46Speaker 1: the explosion of offenses, who stays hot, who cools off
- 41:51Speaker 1: through the rest of the season. By the way, Joe Burrow,
- 41:53Speaker 1: back tightness, expected to try to play for Cincinnati against Houston.
- 41:58Speaker 1: this weekend down in Texas. Back in a moment on

- 43:35Speaker 1: pursuit of a more perfect mortgage. 15 years since Florida
- 43:39Speaker 1: has played at Jordan-Hare Stadium. Some great games over the years.
- 43:43Speaker 1: 15 years?
- 43:43Speaker 2: Was that that big upset on Saturday night?
- 43:46Speaker 1: I can't remember. What year was that? Was that the... 2010.
- 43:48Speaker 1: That would have been... No, 2011.
- 43:49Speaker 2: 2011, yeah.
- 43:49Speaker 1: 2011. No. You're thinking the best one we were at, right?
- 43:57Speaker 4: That was 20 years ago.
- 44:00Speaker 2: Yeah, who did the flip into the end zone?
- 44:01Speaker 1: That was Trey Smith after the blocked punt. They used
- 44:05Speaker 1: to play every year. They did. Now it's two new coaches,
- 44:09Speaker 1: John Summerall of Florida and Alex Golish of Auburn. John Summerall,
- 44:14Speaker 1: by the way, in 2023 while leading Troy to their
- 44:17Speaker 1: second Sunbelt Championship. Look at how close he came to
- 44:22Speaker 1: all these jobs, by the way. All right. That year,
- 44:26Speaker 1: Kentucky was not happy with Mark Stoops. Texas A &
- 44:29Speaker 1: M was moving on from Jimbo Fisher. And John Summerall,
- 44:35Speaker 1: who played at Kentucky, Stoops was in the mix somehow
- 44:38Speaker 1: at Texas A & M. Well, because Jimmy Sexton fleeced
- 44:43Speaker 1: Kentucky by telling them that. And everybody, if Stoops had left,
- 44:49Speaker 1: they were going to bring John Summerall, two-time Sunbelt champion,
- 44:51Speaker 1: up to Kentucky. Yeah. Coaching search going on at North Carolina.
- 44:58Speaker 1: Bill Belichick gets the job. Most people thought everybody inside
- 45:02Speaker 1: the organization, inside the building, wanted John Summerall at North Carolina.
- 45:07Speaker 1: And then he ends up at Tulane. And as the
- 45:11Speaker 1: Lane Kiffin thing starts and all these jobs are opening up,
- 45:16Speaker 1: John Summerall at the same time looked to be a
- 45:19Speaker 1: big candidate at Ole Miss, obviously a candidate at Florida
- 45:23Speaker 1: where he ended up. But everyone thought he was a
- 45:25Speaker 1: lock for Auburn with his family ties there. His wife
- 45:28Speaker 1: went to school there, had coached at Troy. He's a
- 45:30Speaker 1: Huntsville guy. And Josh Pate, and a lot of people
- 45:34Speaker 1: know this story behind the scenes, Josh Pate was telling
- 45:37Speaker 1: this story on Bussin' with the Boys that a little
- 45:40Speaker 1: administrative blip opened the door for Florida to circle back
- 45:45Speaker 1: right when they chilled on Kiffin or Kiffin chilled on
- 45:48Speaker 1: them to offer Summerall, and Summerall had to decide then
- 45:51Speaker 1: between Florida and Auburn. chose Florida in the end and
- 45:56Speaker 1: I wonder you know some people believe that it was
- 45:59Speaker 1: John Cohen's belief that the next coach needed to keep
- 46:03Speaker 1: DJ Durkin and I don't know if that set well
- 46:06Speaker 1: with anybody or if that was to hang up with
- 46:09Speaker 1: John Summerall if he wanted to hire his own staff
- 46:11Speaker 1: or what but he ended up at Florida that storyline
- 46:15Speaker 1: him coming into Auburn this weekend is interesting to me
- 46:17Speaker 1: that he He was almost the coach at all these places,
- 46:21Speaker 1: looked to be a lock at Auburn, and now here
- 46:23Speaker 1: he comes in to play at Jordan-Hara as the Florida coach.
- 46:26Speaker 2: Well, I mean, he got the– I mean, I guess
- 46:29Speaker 2: you can make an argument A & M. He got
- 46:30Speaker 2: the best job, though, that was available. I mean, I
- 46:33Speaker 2: think that shows that he probably weighed out the situation,
- 46:36Speaker 2: especially between Auburn and that. I find it hard to
- 46:39Speaker 2: believe that an athletic director in John Cohen would be like,
- 46:43Speaker 2: we want you, you're the guy, but you've got to
- 46:45Speaker 2: keep this guy on staff.
- 46:46Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know. I think D.J. Durkin was very
- 46:49Speaker 1: well thought of and was the interim coach, obviously. I would,
- 46:53Speaker 1: you know, I mean, obviously.
- 46:56Speaker 2: Obviously, you're not going to be able to do it
- 46:57Speaker 2: your way if you're told immediately.
- 46:59Speaker 1: The first thing you have to do is compromise.
- 47:01Speaker 2: That's a problem.
- 47:01Speaker 1: You're never going to stop compromising things. And that's that's
- 47:04Speaker 1: why coaches I don't even if John Summerall looked at D.J. Durkin,
- 47:07Speaker 1: it was like, I think you might be the best
- 47:08Speaker 1: guy for the job. If I compromise something on day one,
- 47:11Speaker 1: I'm never going to stop compromising.
- 47:13Speaker 2: Yeah, and for Golish, it's different, right? You've got an
- 47:15Speaker 2: offensive guy coming in, and Golish probably was like, guy's
- 47:19Speaker 2: already here, he knows where the bodies are buried, and
- 47:21Speaker 2: he's a really good defensive coordinator. So that made sense.
- 47:23Speaker 1: And he may have agreed to it, too. Golish may
- 47:25Speaker 1: have been told the same thing and said, yeah, I mean, D.J.
- 47:27Speaker 1: Durkin's good, I'll do it, and I want the job.
- 47:29Speaker 1: I think I remember the news conference. He says, we
- 47:32Speaker 1: haven't decided yet on D.J. Durkin, but I'm going to
- 47:35Speaker 1: interview him like I would anybody else. It was a
- 47:37Speaker 1: very short interview. concise answer and a lot of people
- 47:40Speaker 1: read into that um and he ended up keeping him
- 47:45Speaker 1: and thus far it looks like i mean two games
- 47:47Speaker 1: in looks like pretty good marriage yeah but these guys
- 47:49Speaker 1: are paid did point out he's like you know i
- 47:52Speaker 1: think when we look back at this all in five
- 47:54Speaker 1: years from now um that both schools will be very
- 47:58Speaker 1: happy with his hire you know like he was very
- 48:00Speaker 1: high on goldish's fit at auburn he actually said everyone
- 48:03Speaker 1: was sort of penciling goldish in at arkansas Pate was like,
- 48:06Speaker 1: my sources tell me he was going to turn Arkansas
- 48:08Speaker 1: down to stay at USF if that was his only option.
- 48:11Speaker 1: How sad is that for Arkansas? These guys are always
- 48:16Speaker 1: going to be compared. We talked about it before. Because
- 48:19Speaker 1: they both came up through the American, because Summerall was
- 48:23Speaker 1: a candidate at Auburn, because they were hired at the
- 48:25Speaker 1: same time, these guys are always going to be compared.
- 48:28Speaker 1: It's always going to be, you know, Golis versus Summerall,
- 48:31Speaker 1: even if they don't play every year, which they're not
- 48:33Speaker 1: going to. They're always going to be compared. And I
- 48:37Speaker 1: don't know which one of the two is going to
- 48:38Speaker 1: be the most successful. At least by, I don't know
- 48:42Speaker 1: if Florida fans will compare or anybody else. No, I'm
- 48:45Speaker 1: just saying. I think there'll be a group of Auburn
- 48:47Speaker 1: people that'll always be like, that could have been our guy. Well,
- 48:50Speaker 1: I'm just saying on the outside, I mean, naturally, if
- 48:53Speaker 1: Golish is successful and Summerall fails, you know, you might
- 48:57Speaker 1: be able to say, Florida could have had Golish if
- 48:59Speaker 1: they wanted a higher end state. If Summerall is successful
- 49:02Speaker 1: and Golish fails, That's a great point. Florida fans would
- 49:06Speaker 1: be like, we didn't look at him because he's the
- 49:09Speaker 1: USF guy.
- 49:09Speaker 8: That's right.
- 49:09Speaker 1: Why did we ask for a guy in our state?
- 49:11Speaker 2: Yeah, I think that would be different because Florida, they
- 49:14Speaker 2: could have hired Golish. Auburn couldn't hire Summerall. So I
- 49:17Speaker 2: don't know if you could ever say that.
- 49:19Speaker 1: I understand what you're saying, but I think the reaction,
- 49:22Speaker 1: now John Cohen will not be around to face the
- 49:24Speaker 1: music if this happens, but if Golish fails, the reaction
- 49:28Speaker 1: will be, they screwed that up. We could have had Summerall.
- 49:31Speaker 1: What did we do? I mean, whether true or not,
- 49:35Speaker 1: the fans are like, his wife went there. I've never
- 49:37Speaker 1: really felt that mattered that his wife went there. I mean,
- 49:40Speaker 1: did you guys think that really mattered? No, I think
- 49:43Speaker 1: that him coaching at Troy, being born in Huntsville, coaching
- 49:46Speaker 1: in the SEC, that Auburn would be an attractive place.
- 49:49Speaker 2: I do think you have these conversations with your wife, though.
- 49:52Speaker 2: And hey, look, this is what it looks like. And
- 49:55Speaker 2: if she's like, I'm just telling you, John, I love
- 49:57Speaker 2: that place. I'd love for us to start a family there.
- 49:59Speaker 1: But if John comes back and says, I hear you, babe, but.
- 50:04Speaker 1: I've got a better chance of being successful at Florida
- 50:06Speaker 1: than I do at Auburn. If he thought that, then
- 50:07Speaker 1: she probably says, well, let's take Florida. He's told the story.
- 50:11Speaker 1: That's what's happened. Let's take the Florida job. He told
- 50:13Speaker 1: the story and the wife was the last one to say.
- 50:17Speaker 1: Let's take the Florida job. I mean, I think your
- 50:20Speaker 1: wife wants you to be where you're most successful, whether
- 50:22Speaker 1: she likes living someplace or not. It's going to be
- 50:25Speaker 1: miserable to live a place if you're not successful.
- 50:27Speaker 2: Just based on history, I think you've got a better
- 50:29Speaker 2: opportunity at Florida. I would much rather live in Auburn
- 50:31Speaker 2: than Gainesville.
- 50:32Speaker 1: Oh, gosh, yes. Here's Alex Golish. He gets asked this
- 50:35Speaker 1: week about his relationship with John Summerall.
- 50:39Speaker 5: You mentioned competing against him at Tulane, but he also
- 50:41Speaker 5: said he's just gotten to know you well as a coach, uh,
- 50:43Speaker 5: and a friend over the years from competing against each other.
- 50:45Speaker 5: What's your relationship like with, with John Summerall? He said
- 50:50Speaker 5: we were friends. Not this week or not. Uh, I
- 50:55Speaker 5: got a ton of respect for John.
- 50:56Speaker 8: John, um, um, certainly did a, we were both assistants
- 51:02Speaker 8: in this league at the same time and he did
- 51:05Speaker 8: a great job at Troy high end job at Troy. Um,
- 51:08Speaker 8: Did a high-end job at Tulane. Got a ton of
- 51:11Speaker 8: respect for how he works. A ton of respect for
- 51:13Speaker 8: who he is. I think he does it the right way.
- 51:16Speaker 8: Competes like crazy. I got a lot of respect for him.
- 51:22Speaker 8: This week, don't care.
- 51:25Speaker 1: Very weird. Alex did not get the laugh he thought
- 51:27Speaker 1: he was going to get at the start of that.
- 51:28Speaker 1: He said that thinking it was going to get a
- 51:30Speaker 1: laugh from the media and did not. Yeah. Okay, I'm
- 51:33Speaker 1: going to keep going with the answer then. Nobody's going
- 51:34Speaker 1: to laugh at my joke.
- 51:35Speaker 2: Just a very weird comment.
- 51:37Speaker 1: Yeah, well, I think he started out very somber on
- 51:39Speaker 1: it thinking people would laugh at it. It did seem
- 51:41Speaker 1: like a deadpan joke at the start.
- 51:43Speaker 2: Right, right.
- 51:44Speaker 1: It got zero. It got zero from the crowd. He's like, okay,
- 51:47Speaker 1: I'll plow through with the answer then. I guess you
- 51:48Speaker 1: guys aren't going to laugh. All right. It's a tough crowd. Yeah,
- 51:51Speaker 1: all right. Is this thing on? My arms are tired.
- 51:54Speaker 1: I just flew in. How about those peanuts, you guys?
- 51:57Speaker 1: It should be an interesting game. The most awkward news
- 52:00Speaker 1: conference moment, cut 10, yesterday at Florida State. We can't
- 52:07Speaker 1: figure out if these are real or not. There was
- 52:09Speaker 1: pictures floating around of Mike Norville's house with a box-moving
- 52:14Speaker 1: truck out front moving some boxes around in and out.
- 52:18Speaker 1: And he gets asked about that at his news conferences. Hey,
- 52:21Speaker 1: there's pictures floating around on the Internet of of your
- 52:24Speaker 1: home with a box moving truck outside and some boxes
- 52:28Speaker 1: being moved around. And you can tell he didn't know
- 52:31Speaker 1: that these pictures were on the internet yet. Listen in.
- 52:33Speaker 1: Under a microscope in this town, and I know it
- 52:36Speaker 1: comes with the territory, but going into year seven, when
- 52:39Speaker 1: you see.
- 52:40Speaker 4: Speculation online about, obviously, box.
- 52:42Speaker 6: Trucks being at your house, especially mid-season.
- 52:45Speaker 3: What?
- 52:46Speaker 6: At my house?
- 52:47Speaker 1: Box trucks, moving trucks. Who?
- 52:50Speaker 6: Is that online? Oh, that's awesome.
- 52:52Speaker 1: Just so you know.
- 52:54Speaker 3: I don't look a whole lot online, you know, but
- 52:57Speaker 3: I don't. For me, it's all of our focus is
- 53:04Speaker 3: on this team. And that's where I live. And, you know,
- 53:07Speaker 3: there can be plenty of speculation. There can be plenty
- 53:09Speaker 3: of things that are out there. And, you know, I
- 53:14Speaker 3: get the opportunity to show up every day, bring the
- 53:17Speaker 3: right attitude, bring the right mentality, bring the right work,
- 53:20Speaker 3: you know, pouring into this team, pouring into these players.
- 53:23Speaker 6: Uh, you know, and I believe in that.
- 53:25Speaker 3: And, you know, there's been, there've been disappointing results and,
- 53:28Speaker 3: you know, I've never sat here and tried to make
- 53:30Speaker 3: an excuse.
- 53:31Speaker 6: Not, not once since I've been here to say, Oh, well,
- 53:34Speaker 6: let me tell you why. Like, I don't do that.
- 53:36Speaker 6: That's not it.
- 53:36Speaker 3: It is, you know, this result oriented business, you know,
- 53:40Speaker 3: our results have not been as good as what we
- 53:42Speaker 3: want them to be.
- 53:42Speaker 6: Um, but I believe in the process. I believe in,
- 53:45Speaker 6: in the work. I believe in the players I get
- 53:47Speaker 6: to coach and we get to go be better.
- 53:49Speaker 3: And, you know, at the end of the day, like
- 53:51Speaker 3: the online world, if, of speculation of what somebody thinks
- 53:55Speaker 3: might be or somebody's opinion. Like, I mean, you can
- 53:58Speaker 3: have an opinion whether you like something or dislike something.
- 54:01Speaker 3: You know, I get the opportunity to do this and
- 54:04Speaker 3: I have incredible joy being able to coach these players,
- 54:07Speaker 3: being able to represent this university, being able to push
- 54:10Speaker 3: to be the best that I can be, even through
- 54:12Speaker 3: a difficult circumstance of what it's been, you know, result-wise. But,
- 54:17Speaker 3: you know, every day I'm going to show up and
- 54:19Speaker 3: I'm going to give all that I have and continue
- 54:21Speaker 3: to fight, you know, pushing to help these players go
- 54:24Speaker 3: be all that I know they can be. And for
- 54:26Speaker 3: whatever the speculation is out there, I can't, I'm not
- 54:29Speaker 3: going to, I'm not searching for it, not looking for it,
- 54:31Speaker 3: but you know, it's going to be, it's always going
- 54:34Speaker 3: to be there.
- 54:35Speaker 1: Okay. Forrester and I were texting last night about this
- 54:38Speaker 1: and he's like, you know, the one thing he never
- 54:39Speaker 1: said there is like, there's no moving trucks at our house. No,
- 54:43Speaker 1: I mean, in fact, I thought, I mean, this is
- 54:46Speaker 1: dangerous to do, but just the way he answered it,
- 54:48Speaker 1: it was almost like, Oh my God, you guys saw that.
- 54:51Speaker 1: I mean, that's what I got out of his answer
- 54:53Speaker 1: was even the laughter. Listen, they only lost by three
- 54:57Speaker 1: to SMU, or they'd be undefeated coming into play Alabama
- 55:00Speaker 1: this weekend. But, you know, the crowd, the way they're
- 55:06Speaker 1: booing him and chanting fire and firing.
- 55:09Speaker 2: Oh, this thing is done. Yeah.
- 55:11Speaker 1: AD changed this week.
- 55:13Speaker 2: But I don't think him and his wife, I mean,
- 55:16Speaker 2: you've got to be a little more– I don't know,
- 55:19Speaker 2: you've got to have better tact?
- 55:20Speaker 1: I would guess.
- 55:21Speaker 2: Like, let's go on and pre-wrap. Let's have somebody come
- 55:23Speaker 2: in and pre-wrap all the dishes, and let's get things ready,
- 55:25Speaker 2: and let's slowly move this out. There's no way they
- 55:28Speaker 2: would have two men in a truck roll up outside. But,
- 55:32Speaker 2: you know, we had the misleading stat yesterday, which was
- 55:35Speaker 2: fun to talk about, that Ohio State is one of
- 55:37Speaker 2: 12 Power Four teams that have lost three of their
- 55:39Speaker 2: last four games. Florida State was one of those teams
- 55:42Speaker 2: from the ACC. They have lost 18 of their last
- 55:45Speaker 2: 22 to FBS opponents. Like, you can't even explain that.
- 55:49Speaker 2: That makes no sense.
- 55:50Speaker 1: How can you explain that?
- 55:52Speaker 2: And it's in the ACC.
- 55:53Speaker 1: How can you explain that he was the same guy
- 55:55Speaker 1: that was going to have an undefeated team in the
- 55:57Speaker 1: college football playoff before his quarterback got hurt?
- 56:00Speaker 3: Yep.
- 56:01Speaker 1: I mean, they were still undefeated at the end of
- 56:03Speaker 1: the regular season, but they were going to be undefeated
- 56:05Speaker 1: in the playoffs.
- 56:06Speaker 2: Braden Fiss, Jared Verse. I mean, they had players. Jordan Travis.
- 56:09Speaker 2: But did he recruit those guys?
- 56:10Speaker 1: I don't think so. Yes, he did. I don't think
- 56:12Speaker 1: he did. And what's really ironic, if you believe media reports,
- 56:15Speaker 1: that he'll be coaching in a stadium this Saturday that
- 56:19Speaker 1: he was in the running to be the head coach.
- 56:22Speaker 1: I never believed it. I never believed it either. I
- 56:24Speaker 1: bet if you look, he's represented by Jenny Sexton.
- 56:25Speaker 2: I talked to some fans that wanted Mike Norvell.
- 56:28Speaker 1: I mean, that was the perfect storm for him. And
- 56:31Speaker 1: it's why, unfortunately, our guy Michael Alford got fired as
- 56:34Speaker 1: the athletic director because he oversaw this. Everybody goes back
- 56:39Speaker 1: and kills athletics directors for this stuff, but you tell
- 56:41Speaker 1: me what you do. You tell me what you do.
- 56:44Speaker 1: You're the athletic director at Florida State. You have just
- 56:47Speaker 1: gone undefeated, right? That was coming off them going undefeated.
- 56:50Speaker 2: Yep, you extended.
- 56:51Speaker 1: You're only out of the playoffs because your quarterback got
- 56:54Speaker 1: hurt and the selection committee was like, we can't put
- 56:56Speaker 1: that team in. And you got an agent that tells
- 56:58Speaker 1: you Alabama's sniffing around. And the greatest coach of all
- 57:00Speaker 1: time retires and opens up one of the primo jobs
- 57:03Speaker 1: in college football. and Jimmy Sexton convinces you that your
