- 0:23start your day off in a fantastic way, everybody.
- 0:27Good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:30Do you know what actually moves you into action?
- 0:33And I'm not going to use the word motivate because I don't
- 0:36know that word irritates me sometimes.
- 0:38So I'm I'm really focused on what moving does.
- 0:43So what moves you to take action?
- 0:46Is it when something gets so bad that you have no choice?
- 0:50Or do you like to move when you get inspired?
- 0:52Do you get an idea and then you want to jump into it?
- 0:55The the question comes down to what moves you and when you
- 0:59don't actually know, like you're not conscious and thinking about
- 1:02it and saying, OK, I know the these are the situations that
- 1:05I'm setting up for myself. Sometimes you can really
- 1:08irritate yourself. You really irritate the hell out
- 1:11of yourself because that that just puts you in this position
- 1:14where you're like, wow, I do not like what's happening around me.
- 1:18I don't like what's happening. I feel like I am falling apart.
- 1:23And we all know that sometimes when things fall apart, they
- 1:27actually fall together in a much better way.
- 1:30And for me, I know lots of different things move me.
- 1:33But if I don't make the list and sit down and write and say, OK,
- 1:36here's what moves me from, you know, basic, simple stuff like
- 1:40pain and pleasure, because things move us towards pleasure.
- 1:44Like, oh, taking a vacation, that might push you hard.
- 1:46For some people it doesn't, but for some people it does.
- 1:49But there's also that pain factor.
- 1:51Like what are the things that are painful that move you?
- 1:54So I know if I have certain factors going on in my life that
- 1:58are painful, that will definitely move me because my
- 2:02certainty girl gets kicked into gear and all of a sudden because
- 2:05she's driving that bus and she's feeling the pain, it's not going
- 2:10to work for her. She does not like to not have
- 2:12control and some factors dictate that.
- 2:15So when you think about it and you know what those factors are,
- 2:20you can call on them. You can go to the list and you
- 2:22can actually say, OK, I'm going to choose this right now to move
- 2:25me or I'm going to choose this. So if you go back to when you
- 2:28were a kid and you were in school and, you know, you had
- 2:31assignments. We all had assignments when we
- 2:33were in school and most of us had deadlines and those
- 2:36deadlines had to be met. There was no option for not
- 2:39meeting the deadlines. But, you know, if you didn't,
- 2:42you got a bad grade. There are so many of us that
- 2:46waited until the last minute to do something.
- 2:49And that sometimes that pain is the motivator that we carried
- 2:54with us into our adulthood. I know a bunch of people who
- 2:58will say, oh, I have a presentation next week and I
- 3:00haven't started working on it. And then it's like the day
- 3:02before, and they'll say, oh, man, my presentation's due.
- 3:04And I still don't have it done. Whereas for me, I always enjoyed
- 3:08coming home the day I had the assignment and sitting down and
- 3:11doing it, Dorking out on it. I liked it because it gave me
- 3:14time to work through it. It gave me time to feel like,
- 3:18OK, I could go back, I could look at it, I could refine it.
- 3:21I liked to be way ahead, just like studying for test, but not
- 3:26everybody's that way. But I had other things that
- 3:28would motivate me in the in the using pain to do it.
- 3:31So I would get myself into situations where I put myself
- 3:34between a rock and a hard place. And then I was forced to make
- 3:37decisions because I couldn't make the decisions or I didn't
- 3:39like to make the decisions in those moments.
- 3:42So we all have this. The question is, do you know
- 3:45what your factors are? So a fun assignment to do.
- 3:48Take a piece of paper, draw a line down the middle, left and
- 3:51right, and you can do it with positives or negatives, pain and
- 3:54pleasure, whatever way you want to do it, whatever language
- 3:57works for you. But on one side, you're going to
- 3:59sit down, you're going to write OK.
- 4:00These are the negative things that tend to motivate me, like
- 4:03time crunches, like money crunches, like having to share
- 4:08something with your mother or your father.
- 4:10Even though you're an adult, that still may be something that
- 4:12bothers you. It's, it doesn't have to be
- 4:15something that other people understand.
- 4:17If it works in your head, that's all that matters.
- 4:20And then on the, you know, the, the pleasure side or the happier
- 4:23side, you could say, oh, working towards vacation or being able
- 4:27to spend time with my kids or take time off or, you know,
- 4:31getting yourself a new camera. I don't know.
- 4:33Whatever it might be, you will find those factors.
- 4:36So doing this little exercise can be something that takes a
- 4:41bit of time. So if you sit down and do it,
- 4:43don't expect to get it all out on a piece of paper in 10
- 4:46minutes. Give yourself the time, keep the
- 4:48paper on the counter, stare at it, walk by it.
- 4:50You'll keep adding to it because these are a lot of hidden things
- 4:54about us that we don't readily think about.
- 4:56They're just back there and they show up periodically and then we
- 5:00go, oh, right, I want to add that to the list.
- 5:02So take your time, work through it, do a good job with it and
- 5:05then take that list and actually utilize it.
- 5:08Actually refer to it. Say, OK, I want to do get make
- 5:12this part of my outcomes for the year or one of my possibilities
- 5:15or one of my goals, depending upon how you're doing it.
- 5:17And then utilize that piece. Say I'm going to put myself in
- 5:22this situation from this pain side or the other side and and
- 5:26I'm going to create it. Or you can observe that you have
- 5:28already put yourself unwittingly into the pain side and you can
- 5:32go, oh, wait, now instead of feeling this way, that's a bad
- 5:35thing. I see what I'm doing.
- 5:36You recognize your pattern and that's valuable information, my
- 5:40friends, incredibly valuable. All right, everybody, I hope you
- 5:44have a blessed day and I will see you tomorrow.
- 5:46Bye.
