today we were talking about selfishness, the sin of selfishness. We're gonna be

in James chapter three, verses fourteen and sixteen. How many people people know

that when you're all about yourself, Amen, and you become self absorbed,

and therefore you're putting everything to the side, and you're putting everything that you

want to do first. Amen. Nobody else really matters. God is out

of the picture. Because if you're not serving God. If you're not putting

God first, you're putting yourself first, or you're putting an idol first.

Anything you put before God becomes an idol, and that could include yourself.

Amen. And that's something a place where you and I don't want to be.

We don't want to be self absorbed. We want to be selfish.

We want to be selfless as much as possible. Amen. We want to

represent for others first, Amen, and represent the Kingdom of God in a

way that we're loving. We're kind and gentle and spirit Amen. And we

do all things in love. If we're not doing all things in decency and

in love, listen, man, we're out of order, we're out of

pocket, Amen. And we're being a poor witness to the people who are

looking for truth, people who are looking for love, people who are looking

Thank you, Lord God for showing us more and more of who you

are through your word, through your disciples, through the apostles, through the

sixteen. Selfishness is a sin and benefits no one think about it. Sin

doesn't benefit anyone at all, and selfishness is the sin, so it benefits

no one doesn't help you, doesn't help me, doesn't help others, doesn't

please God, doesn't you know, it's a bad witness. It's you know.

I was listening to a radio show yesterday talking about narcissism, and there's

a lot of narcissism in the church, Amen, and how people deal with

narcissism. There was a professional counselor on the radio, and she had a

tremendous amount of patience and love, and she was answering the questions I know

from a place of experience, Amen, dealing with narcissists, people who are

self absorbed. It's all about them, and sometimes some of the kindest people

and sometimes the rudest people that you ever meet, narcissist, selfish people.

Amen. On the external, they seem to have it all together. Internally,

there's something missing, there's something wrong, and it's a disconnect. And

I believe that disconnect is the same part of this, Amen. So you

don't want to be that person. If you're that person, Amen, let

the Lord speak to you today. If you're that person that self absorbed and

maybe people have been telling you, man, it's all about you. You're

so selfish, and you're saying, Nah, that's not true. This,

that, and the third. Let the Lord speak. Amen, Let the

Lord. I've been told things about me a man through people who really loved

me, that I didn't really recognize that I didn't know that was going on

in my life. And I was honest enough them to look at myself in

the mirror through the lens of the scriptures. And God showed up. Amen.

jealousy and selfish ambition exists, they will be disorder and every vile practice.

Wow, James took it right there. A man, the apostle, James

wasn't plaining inspired by Holy Spirit, God, letting the people know, letting

us know that if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your hearts,

do not boast and be false to the truth. This is not the wisdom

that comes down from heaven. Actually, this is the wisdom that is unspiritual

from earth. So actually it's worldly. The wisdom of this world is showing

up to be unspiritual. Demonic jealousy and selfish ambition exists. If those things

exist, there's disorder. You're out of order, and you're practicing vile things.

You're out of control. Basically change the same. So the sin of

selfishness is big. Its huge. God wants us to remain humble a man.

He wants us to remain focused in him, to remain in him,

to trust him, to be obedient to him. I know, obedience seems

like, oh man, I'm not going to obey no one, this,

that, and the third. It touches the ego real quick, right,

But when you obey guy, you're actually serving freedom. Amen. When you

are a slave to the Lord, you're actually free. I always say on

late shows. When I'm live, I always ask people listen, if you're

listening and it's like ten eleven pm, twelve am, and your home and

you're sober, you're free. I always say that because I remember when I

was bound to sin, when I was all about self. I remember one

time that years ago unsaved. This was in the nineties, Amen and my

son was a year old, at least a year old, and they had

the flu. The mom had the flu and he had the flu. And

I had an event. It was a New Year's a New Year's Eve event

right at a club, and I was one of the top promoters. And

I remember my son's mom said, you're not gonna You're gonna leave us sick

here and go, and I looked right at her. I said, yeah,

I gotta go make money. And I left. And I think back,

I'm like, wow, I was all about myself. I could easy

I had two other partners. I could easily tell them, listen is sick,

my son's mom is sick, so you know, I can't go.

But I was so self assorbed, full of selfishness, full of sin,

that I looked at that situation had no second thought. I was like you'll

be all right and left. That's what sin selfishness does to a person.

Amen. Did I love my son absolutely, but I still left and I

was chasing after what would benefit me, even though I was including them in

the benefit. But I was really all about myself. Amen. So that

was without Christ because I was bound to those things. I was bound to

myself. I was selfish. Now, knowing Christ, you become selfless.

You start giving out yourself, serving others, Amen, and just being kind

and loving. And that's the spirit of God, the character of God.

Amen. The essence of God is love. So we love because we're love.

First. God would take us from selfishness to selflessness. Amen. We

take you from a sinner to a saint. It will sin less when you're

listen, it's a necessary thing. It's good for us to learn these things.

It's good for us to learn about ourselves and to see. You know,

we're born with this sinful nature. Then God gives us the born again

experience, so we're no longer the old person. We are a new creation,

Amen. We're a new creation in Christ. We're not a new creation

and a religion. We're not a new creation because of a church. Were

not a new creation because of a pastor or a teacher or evangelist or apostle

or a prophet. No, we're new in Christ because Christ Jesus makes all

things new, because he is God who makes all things new. We seen

better befits to sin. There's absolutely no benefits to being selfish at all.

be wrath and anger. You mean to tell me there's people out there rejecting

truth. There's only one truth. I know you understand, is only one

truth. I know people are going around saying, oh, that's truth for

you. It is not truth for me. Listen, either it's truth for

me and everybody, or it is not true at all. It's either all

truth or all lies. There's really know in between half truth that doesn't exist

and half truth is a whole lie. So something has to be true and

something has to be false. God is good. He's amazingly good. Amen.

And he's full of truth and grace and love and mercy and justice.

Amen. The justice of God proves that he's a truth God. Amen.

He has justice, he has integrity, his character is love right, So

we can have this trust in him. But for those who are self seeking,

You don't want to be that person. I don't want to be that person.

I want to walk in love. I want to walk in mercy.

I want to walk being great, grateful for what God has done. And

I want to walk selfless. I want to be humbled, amen, and

walk with humility, and all of that will capture the power of God.

We don't have to be self fit. It's not all about you.

it's not all about me. You're exactly one hundred percent right, Amen.

And that's good that you know it's not all about me. But why is

it that in some circles, people follow gurus, pastors, teachers, whatever.

They follow these prophets all around the world, and the prophet that's being

followed never kind of like humbles themselves and say, wait a minute, don't

follow me, follow Christ. But when they're being followed, and when they

have a mega situation going on, a lot of people, they invite more

and more and more to follow their teaching. Okay, that might be a

possibility that that's the way God is using that person, but it's also another

possibility that they're being self absorbed and they start thinking that it's all about them,

and if they don't move, nothing moves. You've ever been in a

situation where you're part of an organization, or you're part of a ministry,

or you're part of a church that if the leader doesn't show up, nobody

moves, nobody does anything. That's an indication of that. That's a narcissistic

leadership. It's all about them. If they don't show up, nothing happens.

When they show up, everything happens. Or how about when there's a

meeting or an event going on, and normally there will be no leadership,

there will be no people that are in position to lead unless the leader is

there. That's a situation of self absorbed leadership, narcissism, and that is

dangerous. Get out of that situation. It's not good. Amen. But

let's show compassion. Let's put that our pride. Let's be selfless, not

selfish. God expects us to place him first. And when we replace God

first, we have room to put others before us as well, because we

know God will take care of us. In Matthew Chapter twenty two Versus thirty

seven and thirty eight, Jesus replied, love your love, love the Lord

your God, with all your heart and with all your soul, and with

all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. The Lord Jesus

acknowledged that was supposed to love the Lord our God with all our hearts and

with all our soul and with all our mind. That means when our self

absorbed. Amen, we're being built up. We're being encouraged. We're being

empowered by who we serve. And he is the Lord, and he's God

alone, and he deserves all this love the Lord your God, with all

see, with all you have. Amen. Once you do that, God

will fill you with his spirit. Amen, and you'll be able to love

others. Amen, not exactly the same way. I don't think you could

love everybody like you love God. But you will be showing the love of

God expressed through you, if that makes any sense. And when a person

sees that type of love, they're gonna be like, wait, something is

different about this love. The love of God through a person of God means

that you're not expecting anything in return. You're just giving out freely. We

were given so freely. We give amen to people that need help, people

who need happiness, that need joy, that need truth that need love.

Every single person that you ever will meet needs love. How about that?

And if you have God in you, God is love. So you're putting

God first, a man, you're not being selfish, you're being selfless,

You're being humble, and you're positioning yourself to be a blessing to someone else.

Amen. And from my experience, no one turns away love unless there's

a mental disorder or something like that, and they can't understand love. Amen.

But love is universal, right. Everybody's searching and looking for love.

Some look for love in the wrong places. Others look for love through the

scriptures in the right place. Amen. And others are unlovable. Being loved

crazy right. A lovable person being loved is powerful. They will never forget

it that they were loved. And even though they know that it's hard for

them to love or to be loved, they felt like no one was able

to show them love because they were unlovable according to society's norms. Society's definition

of love is skewed. Right now, heymn. I got to teach and

remind my daughters that the love that is out there is nothing compared to the

love that's in the heart of a man of God or a woman of God.

Nothing compared to the love of God for his people, for his children,

for his creation. The world has this weird type of love going on.

Actually, the mantra is love is love doesn't make any sense. They're

putting the same definition in the same word, all in one sentence. Luke

chapter nine Versus twenty three twenty four says, then he said to them all,

if anyone will come after me, he must deny himself. Listen,

this is my pet, peeve. I hear people saying you have to die

to yourself. Listen, Jesus Christ, die so we should live, not

die so we should die. If I die to myself, then what happens

to Sam You die to yourself, what happens to you? That's not what

the word says. This is what the word says. And be careful because

people are saying that all the time. I don't know if they know they're

in error, or they have to show me a scripture that says die to

yourself. But this scripture here and Jesus is saying, if anyone would come

after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow

me, not follow religion, follow a traditional follow the Lord Jesus. For

whoever wants to save his life will lose it. But whoever loses his life

for me, we'll save it. There's a purpose, as a plan is

a reason. Amen. Selfishness will guide you to a place of no benefit.

Selflessness following the Lord Jesus, picking up your cross daily, denying your

sinful evil desires, that will lead you to a place of victory. Amen.

So what do you want? You want victory or you want defeat.

I want love or you want hate. I want to be in love or

you want to be in fear. Think about it. We have the choice

to make, and let's make the right one. The Lord Jesus is the
