- 0:13Hello, friends. It is Sean, here it is a Monday.
- 0:17It is a start of a new week. It is June the 19th and we are
- 0:23tiptoeing all the way to the middle of the Year through this
- 0:27book of Exodus. Well we're not tiptoeing.
- 0:29So Such an exodus but it feels like why is it that every year?
- 0:34It feels like it's almost the middle of the year.
- 0:36It's almost the end of the year. Well middle and wherever we are
- 0:40the last drop. It's been about two and a half
- 0:42months. We have been working our way
- 0:45through the book of Exodus and we are entering into the last
- 0:48couple of weeks of x's. We have gone through God sitting
- 0:52out the agenda for what it will look like to live in a covenant
- 0:57or relationship with his people. And then just as they're about
- 1:01to get started, the people blew it and so now they are reforging
- 1:06the way forward together. And God is Keen to keep the
- 1:09moving toward the promised land. So let us keep moving toward the
- 1:14promised land. As we read together, Exodus
- 1:17chapter 33, The Lord said to Moses, get
- 1:31going you and the people you brought up from the land of
- 1:34Egypt, go up to the land. I swore to give to Abraham,
- 1:38Isaac and Jacob, I told them I will give this land to your
- 1:42descendants and I will send an angel before you to drive out
- 1:46the Canaanites amorites, Hittites, perizzites hivites and
- 1:50jebusites go up to this land. That flows with milk and honey,
- 1:56but I will not travel among you For you are a stubborn and
- 1:59rebellious people if I did, I would surely destroy you along
- 2:03the way. When the people heard these
- 2:06Stern words, they went into mourning and stop wearing their
- 2:09jewelry and fine clothes. For the Lord had told Moses to
- 2:13tell them, you are a stubborn and rebellious people, if I were
- 2:18to travel with you for even a moment I would destroy.
- 2:22You remove your jewelry and fine clothes while I decide what to
- 2:26do with you. So from the time they left Mount
- 2:29Sinai the Israelites war. No more jewelry or fine clothes.
- 2:34It was Moses. Practice to take the tent of
- 2:37meeting and set it up some distance from the camp.
- 2:40Everyone who wanted to make a request of the Lord would go to
- 2:43the tent of meeting outside. The camp, whenever Moses, went
- 2:47out to the tent of meeting, all the people would get up and
- 2:50stand in the entrance of their own tents.
- 2:53They would all watch Moses until he disappeared inside.
- 2:57As he went into the tent, the pillar of cloud would come down
- 3:00and hover at its entrance. While the Lord spoke with Moses,
- 3:05when the people saw the cloud standing at the entrance of the
- 3:07tent, they would stand and bow down in front of their own tents
- 3:12inside the tent of meeting the Lord would speak to Moses face
- 3:16to face as one speaks to a friend afterward.
- 3:20Moses would return to the camp, but the young man who assisted
- 3:23him Joshua, son of nun would remain.
- 3:26Main behind in the tent of meeting.
- 3:30One day Moses said to the Lord, you have been telling me take
- 3:35these people up to the promised land, but you haven't told me
- 3:39whom you will send with me. You were told me I know you by
- 3:43name and I look favorably on you if it is true that you look
- 3:48favorably on me, let me know your ways.
- 3:51So I may understand you more fully and continue to enjoy your
- 3:55favor. And remember that this nation is
- 3:58your very own people. The Lord replied.
- 4:03I will personally go with you. Moses and I will give you rest.
- 4:09Everything will be fine for you. Then Moses said, if you don't
- 4:15personally go with us, don't make us leave this place.
- 4:19How will anyone know that you're look?
- 4:21Favorably on me, on me, and on your people.
- 4:24If you don't go with us for your presence, Among Us sets, your
- 4:29people and me apart from all other people on the Earth, the
- 4:33Lord replied to Moses. I will indeed do what you have
- 4:38asked for. I look favorably on you and I
- 4:41know. By name, Moses responded.
- 4:45Then show me your glorious presence.
- 4:49The Lord replied. I will make all my goodness pass
- 4:53before you and I will call out my name Yahweh before you for.
- 4:59I will show Mercy to anyone. I choose and I will show
- 5:03compassion to anyone I choose, but you may not look directly at
- 5:08my face for no one. May see me and live The Lord
- 5:12continued look stand near me on this rock as my glorious
- 5:18presence passes by. I will hide you in the crevice
- 5:22of The Rock and cover you with my hand until I have passed by
- 5:26then I will remove my hand and let you see me from behind but
- 5:31my face will not be seen. You are a big and glorious God.
- 5:49Even if we employ our wildest imagination, we still just can't
- 5:54wrap our heads around you. God today as we go about living
- 6:01Our Lives. I pray that we would see your
- 6:04back that we would see evidence of you in our lives that you
- 6:11would just peel back that Veil that we walk around each day
- 6:16with and that we would see your hand and your provision, in your
- 6:20love, in your kindness, in Your Glory.
- 6:26So that we can know that it's not just Israel with whom who
- 6:29you journeyed through life. But with us, holy spirit awake
- 6:36in us and let us know your presence.
- 6:39You are glorious and we love you.
- 6:42And we thank you for being here with us now, that's in Jesus
- 6:46name that we pray. All these things are men.
