  Speaker 1: our friend Jesus. Spending time with Jesus is the best

  Speaker 1: way to start your day. Let's begin our time together,

  Speaker 1: praising Him. This is a wonderful quote in the book
• 0:28
  Speaker 1: Daughters of God and it says, Jesus knows the circumstances
• 0:32
  Speaker 1: of every soul. You may say, I am sinful, very sinful.
• 0:37
  Speaker 1: You may be, but the worse you are, the more
• 0:41
  Speaker 1: you need Jesus. He turns no weeping, contrite soul away.
• 0:46
  Speaker 1: He bids every trembling soul take courage. He will not
• 0:50
  Speaker 1: reject any who come to him. You know, boys and girls,
• 0:54
  Speaker 1: we need Jesus. We can come to him and he
• 0:58
  Speaker 1: will help us. We need him every hour.

  Speaker 2: I need Thee every hour, most gracious Lord. No tender
• 1:16
  Speaker 2: voice like Thee can peace afford. I need Thee, oh,
• 1:24
  Speaker 2: I need Thee.

  Speaker 3: Every hour I need Thee.

  Speaker 1: Oh, bless me now, my Savior.

  Speaker 3: And thy rich promises in me fulfill. I need thee, oh,

  Speaker 1: Hey, boys and girls, we're talking about the Sermon on
• 2:13
  Speaker 1: the Mount. That's what it's called. When Jesus went up
• 2:16
  Speaker 1: on the mountainside and spoke to all the multitudes, to
• 2:19
  Speaker 1: the people that were there, he gave them lots of
• 2:22
  Speaker 1: good lessons and teachings that can help them in their
• 2:25
  Speaker 1: everyday life. And we're going to learn from it as well.
• 2:28
  Speaker 1: But first, let's bow our heads and pray. Dear Lord,
• 2:33
  Speaker 1: we ask that you will be with us as we study,
• 2:36
  Speaker 1: that as we're filling up, You could say with your words,
• 2:42
  Speaker 1: with your food that you give us, that your spirit
• 2:46
  Speaker 1: will be with us. In Jesus' name, amen. Jesus was
• 2:51
  Speaker 1: talking about some ways that we could be blessed or happy.
• 2:55
  Speaker 1: It's another word that you can use. And so let's
• 2:59
  Speaker 1: open in our Bibles to Matthew 5, verse 7. Let's
• 3:03
  Speaker 1: look at something else that he said. We were looking
• 3:06
  Speaker 1: at verse 3 and 4 and 5 and 6 last time.

  Speaker 1: Now let's look at verse 7. Matthew chapter 5 verse 7.

  Speaker 1: Matthew chapter 5 verse 7. Here's what it says.
• 3:22
  Speaker 2: Blessed are the merciful for they shall obtain mercy.
• 3:28
  Speaker 1: Being merciful is another way of saying blessed are those
• 3:31
  Speaker 1: who are kind. Blessed are those who are forgiving. Blessed
• 3:36
  Speaker 1: are those who are helpful to others. I have a
• 3:38
  Speaker 1: story to tell you. My boys were out sledding the
• 3:43
  Speaker 1: other day. And as they were out sledding, they went
• 3:46
  Speaker 1: to the sand dunes. That's what we call it. And
• 3:50
  Speaker 1: the sand dunes are very remote. There's a few houses around,
• 3:53
  Speaker 1: but not very many. And so they went out there.
• 3:56
  Speaker 1: It's kind of down this dirt road to go sledding.
• 3:59
  Speaker 1: And when they got there, there was a little dog there.
• 4:02
  Speaker 1: And they thought, oh, that's kind of strange. I wonder
• 4:05
  Speaker 1: if somebody dropped it off because that often happens out here.
• 4:09
  Speaker 1: And so they played on the sled and the little
• 4:11
  Speaker 1: dog was chasing after them and, oh, having so much fun.
• 4:14
  Speaker 1: But it wouldn't let them pet it because it had
• 4:16
  Speaker 1: been abused and it was very scared of people. And
• 4:20
  Speaker 1: so finally they were about ready to go and they
• 4:23
  Speaker 1: look around. There's no one around. This little dog's there
• 4:26
  Speaker 1: all by itself. It's winter. It's cold. There's snow on
• 4:30
  Speaker 1: the ground. And they're like, well, we need to catch
• 4:34
  Speaker 1: this little dog and take it home so that we
• 4:36
  Speaker 1: can either take it to the pound or find a
• 4:39
  Speaker 1: home for it. And so they spent the next 30
• 4:42
  Speaker 1: minutes or more trying to catch the dog. It would
• 4:44
  Speaker 1: run from this bush to that bush and they were
• 4:46
  Speaker 1: chasing it. And then it would run under the trailer
• 4:48
  Speaker 1: and under the truck. And it was just a fiasco.
• 4:52
  Speaker 1: But finally, they caught the dog. And they put it
• 4:55
  Speaker 1: in the car and they came home and they walk
• 4:57
  Speaker 1: in the door. Mom, we have a surprise. I'm like,
• 5:00
  Speaker 1: oh boy, it's got to be a dog or a
• 5:03
  Speaker 1: puppy or something. And sure enough, it was. Whenever they
• 5:07
  Speaker 1: say we have a surprise, it usually means it's a dog.
• 5:09
  Speaker 1: And so we kept her for a few days and
• 5:12
  Speaker 1: got her more used to people. And somebody that we
• 5:16
  Speaker 1: knew was interested in getting a dog at some point.
• 5:20
  Speaker 1: And so we sent them a picture and we showed
• 5:22
  Speaker 1: them and we're like, hey, do you want to try
• 5:24
  Speaker 1: her out and see if she fits with your lifestyle
• 5:27
  Speaker 1: and with your cats? Because the lady has a lot
• 5:29
  Speaker 1: of cats. And so she took her home and I
• 5:32
  Speaker 1: got a text just the other day that guess what?
• 5:35
  Speaker 1: She's going to keep her. And I'm so excited that
• 5:38
  Speaker 1: we found a home for the dog. My boys, my husband,
• 5:43
  Speaker 1: they were merciful on the dog. Some people might just say, ah,
• 5:47
  Speaker 1: it'll figure things out. We'll just let it. But they
• 5:50
  Speaker 1: had mercy on the dog. Those who show mercy will
• 5:55
  Speaker 1: have mercy. It's kind of like a law, like the gravity,
• 5:58
  Speaker 1: the law of gravity, where if you throw something up,
• 6:00
  Speaker 1: what's going to happen? It's going to come back down.
• 6:03
  Speaker 1: When we show mercy to others, to people, to animals,
• 6:07
  Speaker 1: we will have mercy in return. Pretty neat, isn't it?
• 6:11
  Speaker 1: Now let's look at verse 8 because Jesus went on
• 6:14
  Speaker 1: with his talk that day. What does verse 8 say?
• 6:17
  Speaker 4: Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.
• 6:22
  Speaker 1: It says, blessed are the what? The pure in heart.
• 6:26
  Speaker 1: If something is pure, is it dirty?
• 6:29
  Speaker 4: No.
• 6:30
  Speaker 1: Is it maybe messed up?
• 6:33
  Speaker 4: No.
• 6:34
  Speaker 1: If you have pure water to drink, is that a
• 6:37
  Speaker 1: good thing?
• 6:38
  Speaker 4: Yes, it is.
• 6:39
  Speaker 1: Does it have germs in it? No. Does it have
• 6:42
  Speaker 1: trash in it? Dirt in it?
• 6:44
  Speaker 4: No.
• 6:45
  Speaker 1: So then what are pure minds or pure hearts like?
• 6:49
  Speaker 1: How did Jesus' mind stay pure and clean when he
• 6:52
  Speaker 1: was a child? Well, he kept it pure and clean,
• 6:56
  Speaker 1: just like yours and mine can be. He asked God
• 6:59
  Speaker 1: every day to help him to choose to not think
• 7:02
  Speaker 1: thoughts that were mean or selfish. He chose to never
• 7:06
  Speaker 1: listen to jokes or to stories that weren't pure and clean.
• 7:10
  Speaker 1: Have you heard somebody tell you a joke or a
• 7:12
  Speaker 1: story that wasn't pure? Yeah, that's not a good thing.
• 7:17
  Speaker 1: We need to tell them, please don't tell me those
• 7:19
  Speaker 1: kinds of things. It's not good. It's not pure. Do
• 7:23
  Speaker 1: you think that Jesus ever spoke crossly or whined or
• 7:28
  Speaker 1: used teasing words or silly slang words? No. If there
• 7:33
  Speaker 1: had been a radio or a TV in his home,
• 7:35
  Speaker 1: what kinds of things would he have listened to or watched?
• 7:38
  Speaker 1: Are those the things that you're listening to or you're watching?
• 7:42
  Speaker 1: It's something to think about. How do we keep our
• 7:45
  Speaker 1: mind or our heart pure? We watch and we're careful
• 7:50
  Speaker 1: with what we think about, what we see, what we say,
• 7:54
  Speaker 1: what we do. The people that we're around, we need
• 7:58
  Speaker 1: to be careful that they're good influences on us and
• 8:01
  Speaker 1: not bad influences. I want to be a good influence
• 8:05
  Speaker 1: on those around me. How about you? Do you want
• 8:07
  Speaker 1: to use good words, kind words? I do. Let's pray
• 8:11
  Speaker 1: and ask Jesus to help us today. Dear Lord, help
• 8:15
  Speaker 1: us to use words that will build people up. Help
• 8:19
  Speaker 1: us to look at things that are pure and holy.
• 8:23
  Speaker 1: Help us to think about things and to say things
• 8:26
  Speaker 1: that are kind and loving. Thank you for your love
• 8:29
  Speaker 1: and that you've promised to help us when we ask.
• 8:32
  Speaker 1: We just ask all these things in Jesus' name.
• 8:35
  Speaker 4: Amen.

  Speaker 2: Blessed, blessed, blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be
• 9:03
  Speaker 2: called the sons of God. Blessed, blessed are the peacemakers,

  Speaker 2: for they shall be called the sons of God. Love

  Speaker 3: Blessed, blessed.
