- 0:01Speaker 1: Some of the content of Patriots Unfiltered may not be
- 0:03Speaker 1: suitable for all audiences. Listener discretion is advised. Welcome to
- 0:10Speaker 1: Patriot's Unfiltered and the Gang's all here for the next
- 0:15Speaker 1: two hours talking Patriots. Mike, Mike, Deuce, you don't like
- 0:19Speaker 1: going by Mike running sexualsau never never really caught on
- 0:26Speaker 1: for some Mike they call me do that. Mike's idea
- 0:32Speaker 1: of being sexy is having his cart Aga sweater on button.
- 0:37Speaker 1: Fred never gets under my skin like Brian More. I no,
- 0:40Speaker 1: he I can see that. Brian doesn't even know. I know,
- 0:44Speaker 1: I know enough. Rabel would bust anyone's but like he
- 0:46Speaker 1: busted Teddy Bruski's balls for having a stroke. I know,
- 0:49Speaker 1: I read about it. I'd walk in with like a
- 0:51Speaker 1: like a brown dress shirt on. Going with the fall
- 0:54Speaker 1: Colors today? What? What? What fraud TV show you're gonna
- 0:56Speaker 1: be on today? Ben Carrott, Yeah what wow? I thought
- 1:00Speaker 1: you would just call him fast. It's that Parolo's disease.
- 1:04Speaker 1: That's a person. Glen Garry, Glenn Rose was ros Ross.
- 1:12Speaker 1: What Ross? That was a great movie. This is Patriots Unfiltered,
- 1:16Speaker 1: fueled by Duncan. All right, Welcome to Patriots unfiltered. It
- 1:23Speaker 1: is Tuesday here at Gilette Stadium. Gangs all here, Deuce, Eric, Paul, Me, Matt,
- 1:29Speaker 1: the booth getting talk. I'm gonna talk Patriots for the
- 1:32Speaker 1: next two hours and whatever else comes up. But the
- 1:35Speaker 1: thing that, well, I don't want to say, came up
- 1:37Speaker 1: this today. But the thing that I saw first thing
- 1:40Speaker 1: when I got to my desk was Tom Brady. I mean,
- 1:43Speaker 1: we've got to talk about this. Yeah, him Foughts announcing
- 1:47Speaker 1: that when he retires whatever that is, he's going to
- 1:50Speaker 1: be their lead analyst. I thought that was odd. Yeah,
- 1:54Speaker 1: I felt like I think it was Lachlan Murdock that
- 1:56Speaker 1: announced it, but that they were just so excited to
- 1:58Speaker 1: get it out there and get some buzz. We got
- 2:00Speaker 1: him next. But it just feeds into this whole clunky
- 2:03Speaker 1: Brady last couple of years of retiring, not retiring. Now
- 2:06Speaker 1: he's he's back with the Bucks, but he's got one
- 2:09Speaker 1: foot up in the broadcast booth. We're talking to Paul, like,
- 2:12Speaker 1: what if they're on a Fox game and he gets hurt,
- 2:14Speaker 1: He's gonna come up at halftime. He's just right in,
- 2:16Speaker 1: right in right, And now my career is over. I'm
- 2:18Speaker 1: not on the sideline, will be reporting it. Yeah, our
- 2:20Speaker 1: guy Matisse upstairs pointed out that Fox has the Super
- 2:23Speaker 1: Bowl I think two years from now, so maybe they're
- 2:27Speaker 1: anticipating that he'll be the lead broadcaster for that, I mean,
- 2:31Speaker 1: the lead analyst for that broadcast. So but greasing the
- 2:34Speaker 1: skids for that. But like you said, dude's clunky, like
- 2:37Speaker 1: sort of from Brady's camp, like like letting this kind
- 2:40Speaker 1: of come out and listen. I'll admit that, Like in
- 2:43Speaker 1: terms of his acting, like the camera, he's getting better
- 2:45Speaker 1: at that, Like he has improved. He has improved, but
- 2:48Speaker 1: he's never been a color analyst before, right, and now
- 2:52Speaker 1: they're announcing him to be the lead one, right without
- 2:54Speaker 1: ever having done it. And like we were talking off before,
- 2:58Speaker 1: Paul said, well what if you're the guy doing it now?
- 3:00Speaker 1: It's like, right, you know, I'm gonna be replaced whenever
- 3:03Speaker 1: he wants to come. How do you feel if that
- 3:06Speaker 1: guy now? Right with Kevin Burkhard, I'm going on record
- 3:10Speaker 1: to say I'm not buying it. I don't know. Is
- 3:13Speaker 1: it Greg Olsen? I don't know. Did he get people
- 3:15Speaker 1: and all serious? Did he get the lead lead? I
- 3:19Speaker 1: don't know, but I thought he was really jogging a
- 3:20Speaker 1: couple of games last year. Well maybe that's why Fox
- 3:23Speaker 1: wanted to announce it, because none of us the number
- 3:25Speaker 1: one guy. Yeah, it also takes all the mystery out
- 3:27Speaker 1: of when Brady retires, like he can't do the Well,
- 3:30Speaker 1: what's next. We'll just have to wait and see. Like
- 3:32Speaker 1: I'm telling you right now, I'm not buying it. Um,
- 3:35Speaker 1: there's no way that Brady is committing to that. There's
- 3:38Speaker 1: no way. Like maybe it was a handshake deal or something,
- 3:41Speaker 1: but there's no way there's a piece of paper with
- 3:43Speaker 1: his signature run guaranteeing he's going to do it. No way.
- 3:47Speaker 1: He wouldn't box himself in like that, I think. And
- 3:49Speaker 1: even if he did do it, I give him a
- 3:50Speaker 1: year to two years when he realizes there's no juice
- 3:53Speaker 1: in this. I can't get excited, Like the move to
- 3:55Speaker 1: ownership makes sense to me that he would still be
- 3:57Speaker 1: invested in a sport and feel like he is in
- 4:00Speaker 1: some way competing and participating. This doesn't feel like him
- 4:03Speaker 1: at all, And he's got all the travel, Like what
- 4:05Speaker 1: about them? I was just gonna say, these guys don't
- 4:07Speaker 1: just show up on game day. They show up like
- 4:09Speaker 1: the Friday before. I think it's even well they have
- 4:13Speaker 1: sit downs with the coach, you know, the production, meaning
- 4:16Speaker 1: there's research involved. You know, you need to kind of
- 4:18Speaker 1: know the names of the players out there. Um, I'm
- 4:21Speaker 1: not buying it. I'm sorry. I've never really heard him.
- 4:25Speaker 1: I mean I've only heard him talk about himself and
- 4:27Speaker 1: his own play. I've never really heard him break down
- 4:30Speaker 1: other players or I mean we got a little taste
- 4:32Speaker 1: of it with with you know, Belichick's Emmy Paul uh
- 4:35Speaker 1: you know that, but it wasn't really I mean, I thought,
- 4:39Speaker 1: you know, Bill was going through all the different players.
- 4:40Speaker 1: Brady was kind of there to talk about him in
- 4:42Speaker 1: his career. But I mean, he obviously knows a ton
- 4:44Speaker 1: and I mean I am a little bit intrigued to
- 4:46Speaker 1: maybe hear him show that side of himself. But I'm listen,
- 4:49Speaker 1: I believe like he could do it, you know, like
- 4:52Speaker 1: I think that he if he really wanted to, he'd
- 4:54Speaker 1: put in the time and he would get good at it.
- 4:56Speaker 1: But I don't think he would want to do it.
- 4:59Speaker 1: I'm just not buying. Then why then, why like he
- 5:02Speaker 1: even tweeted like you know, excited something like excited about
- 5:05Speaker 1: the future with Fox but still unfinished business left on
- 5:08Speaker 1: the field with the Bucks. Why you shrew it yourself?
- 5:10Speaker 1: Like if if Fox wanted to sort of break the
- 5:13Speaker 1: news and get some some publicity out of it, you know, Okay,
- 5:18Speaker 1: if it was in fact like a handshake deal and
- 5:20Speaker 1: it wasn't like a you know, sign on the dotted line.
- 5:22Speaker 1: But hey, we're getting Tom Brady by the way, I
- 5:25Speaker 1: can kind of see that. But he went along with
- 5:27Speaker 1: it and was like, yeah, I'm going, I'm going with them.
- 5:28Speaker 1: I'm so like, I could be wrong. I'm just I
- 5:31Speaker 1: think between now and whatever that time is, something's gonna change. Yeah.
- 5:35Speaker 1: I see a lot of talk about the money too
- 5:37Speaker 1: of it, which I mean, maybe I'm naive, but I
- 5:39Speaker 1: mean the guy's got more money than anybody lined up forever, Like,
- 5:43Speaker 1: is it really about money to him? Still? After he
- 5:45Speaker 1: gets out, you would instantly be so, here's something, here's
- 5:53Speaker 1: a side story. I I'd love to know the true info.
- 5:56Speaker 1: How is TB twelve doing? Is it making money interesting?
- 6:01Speaker 1: You know? And I wonder if that's a factor, Like,
- 6:04Speaker 1: for all I know, it could be going gangbuster, but
- 6:07Speaker 1: it also maybe it's a lost leader. Right now, let's
- 6:10Speaker 1: just let's just say it's not making any money. To
- 6:12Speaker 1: Mike's point, like, it can't. This can't be because of money, right,
- 6:17Speaker 1: Like what money does he need? You know? I don't know,
- 6:21Speaker 1: or like he just wants to come in and be
- 6:23Speaker 1: the highest paid at it instantly and kind of Yeah,
- 6:26Speaker 1: I mean I don't. I just think it's weird. He's thinking,
- 6:28Speaker 1: how the hell can I get out of the house
- 6:29Speaker 1: away from Gizell? Oh? I know, I know that's what
- 6:32Speaker 1: it seems. I haven't overthought it. Yeah, that didn't last long, right,
- 6:35Speaker 1: the whole. Yeah, I haven't. I still love you. I
- 6:40Speaker 1: love you no matter what. I love you. But you know,
- 6:43Speaker 1: I just don't think this is the right Give me
- 6:46Speaker 1: a call, let's talk about it. I have some money,
- 6:51Speaker 1: the job, that's all. That's that's my only issue. He's
- 6:55Speaker 1: never going to do it. People are wondering why, like
- 6:58Speaker 1: they would hire him in the first. I just think
- 7:01Speaker 1: it's disrespectful to the guy that has the job. Someone
- 7:03Speaker 1: has that job now, Yeah, and I feel sorry. I
- 7:06Speaker 1: guess I'm disrespecting whoever the person is because I don't know.
- 7:09Speaker 1: But whoever you are, wherever you are, you bro, I
- 7:12Speaker 1: think it might be Greg Olsen, but Anyway, whoever holds
- 7:15Speaker 1: that job now with Kevin burkhard knows that I am
- 7:18Speaker 1: here for that, you know, one year maybe right, maybe too,
- 7:22Speaker 1: and I'm gonna be replaced by someone who's yeah I
- 7:25Speaker 1: think it is greg Os. Also somebody serve as network
- 7:29Speaker 1: ambassador whatever that means. Yeah, that's why I wonder if
- 7:33Speaker 1: it's even gonna be I'm here from like I saw
- 7:38Speaker 1: Jerry Callahan tweeting out today like that'll be well worth
- 7:41Speaker 1: it when he gets the first sit down with Bill Belichick. Yeah,
- 7:44Speaker 1: you know, but who knows who knows? You know how
- 7:48Speaker 1: that all works out. So the schedule comes out Thursday, right,
- 7:51Speaker 1: you know, Yeah, but buzz is palpable. Um. Oh. But
- 7:58Speaker 1: so the NFL is starting to leak out some of
- 8:00Speaker 1: the games. So one of the Christmas games came out.
- 8:02Speaker 1: Did you guys see this? I was just looking on
- 8:05Speaker 1: Nickelodeon's Gonna have it. Yeah, Well it's CBS in Nickelodeon
- 8:09Speaker 1: and it's uh, is it Denver, Broncos and Rams Denver
- 8:13Speaker 1: in the the rom for the Kids, for the for
- 8:15Speaker 1: your kids for the kids. That's a fourth thirty game Christmas?
- 8:18Speaker 1: Is that one that's in Denver? Obviously right, sure. I
- 8:22Speaker 1: think it's a oh yeah, I didn't even get it.
- 8:25Speaker 1: My bad bad. I think it might be in in La. Yeah,
- 8:28Speaker 1: I think it is at the ROMs. But that was
- 8:31Speaker 1: like it better your way. Yeah, it's Christmas a special kid, Chris.
- 8:34Speaker 1: We can give him a road game on it. The
- 8:35Speaker 1: Broncos are being generous and saying we'll play it at
- 8:38Speaker 1: your house. So has anybody seen any of the other, like,
- 8:40Speaker 1: you know, specialty games. I know they had like the
- 8:42Speaker 1: week two games were announced, Ye, the early Monday night
- 8:47Speaker 1: game that Tennessee, the only Tennessee that's a good Monday night.
- 8:50Speaker 1: The only thing I've heard, Um, it was from a
- 8:54Speaker 1: friend of mine in California who's a Raider fan going
- 8:56Speaker 1: way back, said, Hey, I hear you guys are coming
- 8:59Speaker 1: out to us in Vegas in Week one. That's true.
- 9:02Speaker 1: That's run rampant on the on the internet with the
- 9:04Speaker 1: last week and a half. Buddy's convinced that Week one
- 9:07Speaker 1: at Vegas Monday night game. Well, I do know that
- 9:10Speaker 1: t they I've heard that they're going to allow teams
- 9:13Speaker 1: to announce their home openers earlyers. Um, so if that's
- 9:17Speaker 1: the case, we would will know. Yeah, right, But that
- 9:20Speaker 1: wouldn't be our home opener. That would be there well there, yeah,
- 9:23Speaker 1: but yeah, but we'll know them where, right, They're not
- 9:25Speaker 1: gonna tell us we're playing. You don't know. It took
- 9:27Speaker 1: me a second, did you guys? Mention allowed to open
- 9:30Speaker 1: with two road games? No? No, no, no no. He's
- 9:32Speaker 1: saying the Rams would ann the Raiders would announce it,
- 9:36Speaker 1: and we there no game. Yeah, their home game mostly enough.
- 9:40Speaker 1: Just take your words for our Raiders. I guess for me,
- 9:43Speaker 1: I'm like, I'm like Freddy, it's all about the paper.
- 9:45Speaker 1: They revolve around US. Raiders. Think we're gonna play there,
- 9:49Speaker 1: huh yeah, yeah, we'll see about that. I want to
- 9:52Speaker 1: see our home open first, right, yeah. Um, what did
- 9:57Speaker 1: you say about the Monday night game before Buffalo and
- 10:01Speaker 1: tennis tennis Tennessee and then the second one I forget
- 10:05Speaker 1: Minnesota and Philadelphia? Yeah? Good see you said it reminded
- 10:09Speaker 1: me that's that staggered Monday night thing that's like seven
- 10:12Speaker 1: and eight thirty or something like as opposed though too
- 10:14Speaker 1: in the past. This week one was seven seven and
- 10:17Speaker 1: ten or seven thirty tenth or whatever it was. Yeah,
- 10:20Speaker 1: but that's a little bit closer in proximity and one
- 10:23Speaker 1: of them is on ABC and one of them is
- 10:24Speaker 1: on ESPN. Soow, I'm telling you it is a monumental
- 10:30Speaker 1: chore getting these schedules done. It really is the computer
- 10:34Speaker 1: computer do it? Is it? It is? Really? It is? Yeah,
- 10:38Speaker 1: still Mann done six thirty two teams. It seemed like
- 10:42Speaker 1: the monument and thirty MLB teams have to have one
- 10:47Speaker 1: hundred and sixty two games schedule? How do they do it?
- 10:49Speaker 1: But that's some guy down the Cape does it. That's easy.
- 10:52Speaker 1: He got a lot of wiggle room with this. Yeah, baseball.
- 10:54Speaker 1: But I also came out today that Tom Brady unretiring
- 10:57Speaker 1: forced them to rejigger the schedule this year. Well, I
- 11:01Speaker 1: could see what the Germany game, Well the prime primetime
- 11:04Speaker 1: game time Aaron Rodgers too, Like you have to have
- 11:09Speaker 1: you know, you have to have contingency plans for that
- 11:11Speaker 1: if he had retired, right, you don't want to put
- 11:13Speaker 1: them on five or six times in prime time? Right, right,
- 11:15Speaker 1: that's right? What happens. I still love you, Tom, but
- 11:19Speaker 1: you're causing trouble. He needs like the Brady, the Brady camera,
- 11:24Speaker 1: Like I'm just gonna take to Brady cam right now.
- 11:25Speaker 1: And that's my direct line looks off Tom when we
- 11:33Speaker 1: last kissed. I never you doing something so foolish like
- 11:38Speaker 1: the Truman Show where the camera he looks the thing right?
- 11:41Speaker 1: What is that right? That's good? That's good. I yeah,
- 11:45Speaker 1: I'm I'm excited to see how how what the campaign
- 11:49Speaker 1: is this year and and you know, I mean a
- 11:52Speaker 1: lot of stuff to look for. But I mean, I
- 11:53Speaker 1: think the you know, the Division games? How are the
- 11:55Speaker 1: Division games cut up? That's the drum I've been will
- 11:57Speaker 1: play Buffalo twice, the Jets twice? That's six. Who's the
- 12:01Speaker 1: curmudgeon now, Moses? How are they spread out? You know?
- 12:04Speaker 1: I mean I think last year the schedule kind of
- 12:06Speaker 1: built to that crescendo of I mean, at least on paper,
- 12:10Speaker 1: it was that Buffalo Monday night game. Now, the weather
- 12:13Speaker 1: it made that not really what your thought about to you?
- 12:15Speaker 1: You refused to leave. We kicked their butt. It was there.
- 12:18Speaker 1: They're lucky the weather was like that. It would have
- 12:20Speaker 1: been worse if it wasn't. It was the funniest pregame show.
- 12:22Speaker 1: Hardy and I were just talking about the weather. It
- 12:24Speaker 1: might just kept up playing. I don't even know what
- 12:26Speaker 1: you're talking about. That were like one possession to the
- 12:29Speaker 1: game it goes on. In my defense, I said, if
- 12:34Speaker 1: you started to see like streams of toilet paper blowing
- 12:37Speaker 1: across the field, that's when you know it's a windy game,
- 12:39Speaker 1: when they just have trash going across the field that
- 12:41Speaker 1: no one can do anything about it. But you know,
- 12:44Speaker 1: I think when you when you, I don't know. I
- 12:45Speaker 1: kind of got the idea when they had to cancel
- 12:48Speaker 1: the pregame show on the field because they were being
- 12:50Speaker 1: blown off. That kind of gave me the like the
- 12:53Speaker 1: hardy and I were up that I don't think you
- 12:56Speaker 1: hush the game. I don't think the hard stuff is
- 12:58Speaker 1: gonna come down for a little bit like the Eskimos
- 13:00Speaker 1: and Rudolf when the Yeglo gets tossed over and the
- 13:03Speaker 1: storm ru Yeah. But but the way it built up
- 13:05Speaker 1: last year was that that Buffalo Monday night game kind
- 13:08Speaker 1: of kicked off the meat of the schedule, and you knew,
- 13:10Speaker 1: all right, well then they're gonna have to go in Indy.
- 13:12Speaker 1: They're they're always pretty tough, and you know, then Buffalo
- 13:15Speaker 1: again in Miami, Like you just knew that that was
- 13:17Speaker 1: where the season was going to kind of be decided,
- 13:19Speaker 1: and it was you know, Is it that kind of
- 13:21Speaker 1: set up again? Is it? You know, you bang out
- 13:23Speaker 1: a bunch of division games early in the season. Is that,
- 13:25Speaker 1: you know, good for the Patriots. I think those are
- 13:27Speaker 1: those are the first ones I'm interested in, obviously, the
- 13:30Speaker 1: primetime games and you know when the Thursday nighter falls
- 13:33Speaker 1: and and all that Christmas of Christmas potentially, So that's
- 13:37Speaker 1: Thursday night, eight o'clock, right, NFL Network? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 13:41Speaker 1: And don't ask us because we don't We're not gonna know, no,
- 13:43Speaker 1: I'm telling us, and I'll find out Friday morning. Yeah,
- 13:48Speaker 1: so that, yep, that's coming up. And uh, I guess um,
- 13:53Speaker 1: they're gonna be a big event. I think was it
- 13:56Speaker 1: tomorrow here? Groundbreaking event and twentieth anniversey of the stadium
- 14:01Speaker 1: kind of built into one event. But I think they
- 14:04Speaker 1: missed the twentieth anniversary of the first events too. They
- 14:07Speaker 1: didn't do the media football game right, Oh, I'm ready?
- 14:11Speaker 1: And when was that in the time? That was before
- 14:13Speaker 1: the see I thought the first event was the Eagles
- 14:16Speaker 1: preseason game or was that just the first Patriots event
- 14:19Speaker 1: in the stadium? Now? The first event at CMGI Field,
- 14:22Speaker 1: right was the soccer game? Was the soccer games. I
- 14:25Speaker 1: remember that was the soft opening, Okay, yeah, correct, I
- 14:28Speaker 1: remember that was a big term thrown around at the time,
- 14:30Speaker 1: soft opening, and then it was an Eagles preseason game
- 14:34Speaker 1: that opened. I believe that. I couldn't tell you. I
- 14:36Speaker 1: think you're right, only there was away preseason. Yeah, I
- 14:39Speaker 1: don't have a steel trap for the preseason, I was
- 14:42Speaker 1: saying Eric. I'm like, I know they're announcing the regular
- 14:44Speaker 1: season schedule, but I want to know when the preseason
- 14:46Speaker 1: schedule is, Like, I want to find out what's August,
- 14:48Speaker 1: what a lot of things would be excited things I
- 14:51Speaker 1: need to know August seventeen, two thousand and two, Philly, Philly. Yep. Yeah,
- 14:57Speaker 1: I actually I never doubted him. I just have no
- 14:59Speaker 1: recollection and a weird an anomaly here. Guess who the
- 15:02Speaker 1: first preseason game was against that year? A road game.
- 15:06Speaker 1: It was a road game, Tapa the Giants. The Giants, Yeah,
- 15:10Speaker 1: because we're so used to having them as the fourth
- 15:12Speaker 1: preseason game. They were the first preseason game in two
- 15:14Speaker 1: thousand and one and two thousand and two, so we
- 15:16Speaker 1: were kind of wondering if the Giants wouldn't be in
- 15:18Speaker 1: two thousand season game this year because of the concert
- 15:21Speaker 1: schedules and whatnot. Yeah, making that a little bit difficult,
- 15:25Speaker 1: challenging logistics. Yeah, not our problem. But I know I
- 15:29Speaker 1: thought two times, I'm surprised that we haven't found out
- 15:32Speaker 1: like today about the preseason games. At least the opponents,
- 15:35Speaker 1: like Eric was saying, like they don't. Yeah, they gave
- 15:38Speaker 1: you like the like a week Thursday through Sunday kind
- 15:41Speaker 1: of week one of the prewins in week two, right,
- 15:43Speaker 1: they usually do that, Freddie, Yep, like August twelfth or
- 15:46Speaker 1: fifty week one or whatever. Yeah, the dates happened to be. Yeah,
- 15:51Speaker 1: this has been a little wiggle room between Thursday and Saturday.
- 15:53Speaker 1: It seems like some of the games. I heard a rumor,
- 15:57Speaker 1: can't confirm, but that all the preseason games will be
- 16:00Speaker 1: Thursday games. Oh league wide, no, oh, Freddy breaking, that's
- 16:09Speaker 1: bringing good news to the table. But it's been a
- 16:12Speaker 1: while since we've had good news. Again, that's not a
- 16:15Speaker 1: fact yet, that's that's that's very encouraging. I hope you
- 16:21Speaker 1: are correct on that. Yeah, three preseason games on Thursdays
- 16:24Speaker 1: as they meant to be. Yeah, get them over, get
- 16:28Speaker 1: in Friday, wrap it up, Thursday night. Preseason is to
- 16:31Speaker 1: one o'clock on Sunday. Keep your weekend. Yeah yeah, yeah,
- 16:35Speaker 1: then get back to camp. All right, what else we
- 16:38Speaker 1: got going on? Well, they announced all there the practice
- 16:41Speaker 1: squad guy, practice undrafted rookies, undrafted rookies. I'm so disrespectful.
- 16:46Speaker 1: You don't even give it on his gentlemen a chance
- 16:48Speaker 1: to make the loster. Yeah, yeah, your excitement. I know,
- 16:51Speaker 1: I threw it out there. The Brendan Schooler was my
- 16:53Speaker 1: my early favor Andy concurred, concurred on that one. I mean,
- 16:56Speaker 1: I think a long haired safety slash wide receiver who's
- 17:00Speaker 1: a crazy special teams player. That's that's the Texas guy.
- 17:02Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, Um, why don't you read him off? Yeah? Well,
- 17:06Speaker 1: Derek King, I think we talked about d Eric Sorry,
- 17:08Speaker 1: d Eric King, which is another one people have been
- 17:11Speaker 1: talking about a lot quarterback, my receiver, running back Liam
- 17:14Speaker 1: Shanahan and Cody Russy or offensive lineman. Um Jake Julian
- 17:18Speaker 1: is a punter Lebran Ray from Alabama kind of an
- 17:21Speaker 1: injured oft injured defensive tackle from Alabama. DeMarcus Mitchell, we
- 17:25Speaker 1: talked about him from Purdue, played across from George carloftas
- 17:28Speaker 1: He definitely looks like an outside linebacker, but uh not
- 17:31Speaker 1: really blown away by him schooler and then Devin Hafford
- 17:34Speaker 1: a small school Tarleton State. I think he was a
- 17:37Speaker 1: player of the year and that in that conference. And
- 17:40Speaker 1: he's a he's a cornerback as well. So so are
- 17:43Speaker 1: we at ninety No, we still have I think we
- 17:47Speaker 1: have three spots available, spot, three spots available eighty seven right,
- 17:50Speaker 1: and they did have I think Torrez Hall was out
- 17:53Speaker 1: this weekend. I believe they're holding rookie minicamp this coming weekend.
- 18:00Speaker 1: That's correct, And there will be some tryouts that aren't
- 18:02Speaker 1: officially on the roster, like those eight gentlemen that Mike
- 18:05Speaker 1: just so. Yes, the chance that coming out of that
- 18:09Speaker 1: you might get a guy or two signs yep, yep, yep.
- 18:12Speaker 1: And don't forget in the past, those names such as
- 18:16Speaker 1: Malcolm Butler and Gonarolschewski were originally tryout guys in the
- 18:21Speaker 1: spring before they got invited invitations. Where are that either, Yeah, Eric,
- 18:26Speaker 1: there you go bringing in it. Um was it Tarleton State?
- 18:31Speaker 1: Is that what you said? One of those gusts? Didn't
- 18:33Speaker 1: you just have a guy from there like Nick Thurman?
- 18:35Speaker 1: Maybe things that might be accurate. No, yeah, not ringing
- 18:40Speaker 1: any belt. Tarleton, Tarleton, Carleton romance. Oh, not bad, bad,
- 18:52Speaker 1: not bad? All right, we're shopping out a little bit,
- 18:55Speaker 1: all right. Eight five five Pats five hundred is the
- 18:57Speaker 1: ace ticket hut line? Eight five five Pats five hundred,
- 19:00Speaker 1: Web radio at Patriots dot com is the email address?
- 19:04Speaker 1: I feel like there's something else we're missing. Well, you
- 19:07Speaker 1: mentioned tres Hall. Tres Hall was released with injury settlement.
- 19:10Speaker 1: Was yeah, Bill showing up that at some of the
- 19:17Speaker 1: stuff last week. But what do you make of that? Um?
- 19:23Speaker 1: And if the answer is nothing, then that's that's a
- 19:25Speaker 1: prayer for twenty three. Um, I'm not gonna lie my.
- 19:29Speaker 1: My middle immediate thought went to, is he kind of
- 19:32Speaker 1: overseeing some of the new offensive coaches and making sure
- 19:34Speaker 1: that they are good? Right? I think he has family
- 19:37Speaker 1: in the area. I think he's probably visit Freddy. That's
- 19:40Speaker 1: exactly what I meant, and he's just stopping by. Think
- 19:43Speaker 1: he happened to be home and right, the timing worked. Yeah,
- 19:47Speaker 1: I think everybody's doing what fred was. I think tongue
- 19:49Speaker 1: in cheek trying to do a lot of people were
- 19:51Speaker 1: doing that. But what he had a two year contract
- 19:54Speaker 1: at Alabama didn't want to violate that bill, didn't want to,
- 19:57Speaker 1: you know, offend Nick saban By. I don't. I'm not
- 20:02Speaker 1: telling you never. Yeah, because a lot can change in
- 20:05Speaker 1: a year. Maybe Billy O does it for another year
- 20:07Speaker 1: and doesn't get any more offers and he says I
- 20:10Speaker 1: want to go back to the NFL. That could happen. Yeah,
- 20:12Speaker 1: but I don't think one plus one equals two in
- 20:14Speaker 1: this case. I think it a question of the mail
- 20:16Speaker 1: bag this week just about the offensive coaching situation. It's
- 20:20Speaker 1: something that I think is a little bit under the
- 20:23Speaker 1: radar and now after the draft, but it's something that's
- 20:25Speaker 1: on the forefront of a lot of people's minds of
- 20:27Speaker 1: just how exactly is that operation going to work? You know?
- 20:31Speaker 1: Is I mean I kind of feel like Joe Judge
- 20:33Speaker 1: and Nick Kayley are going to kind of tag team
- 20:36Speaker 1: at like Mayo and Steve Belichick have been doing. And
- 20:40Speaker 1: unless you get an announcement with Nick Kayley where it's
- 20:43Speaker 1: like not just tight ends, like maybe tight ends slash
- 20:46Speaker 1: quarterbacks or a quarterback slash something like, then I could
- 20:49Speaker 1: see him maybe calling the plays, which I think would
- 20:51Speaker 1: maybe make people feel a little more optimistic just because
- 20:54Speaker 1: he seems like, oh, this is a young guy that
- 20:55Speaker 1: we can that we don't know yet, that we can't
- 20:57Speaker 1: crap on. Whereas you know, Joe Judge, people have things
- 21:01Speaker 1: that ye so. But I think unless there's like a
- 21:05Speaker 1: specific designation on his coaching title, I think it's going
- 21:09Speaker 1: to be Beato Judge. I would I would think I
- 21:12Speaker 1: kind of leaning that way too. But and I don't
- 21:15Speaker 1: think you're going to get an announcement. I think when
- 21:18Speaker 1: you go out to when we go out to camp
- 21:19Speaker 1: and they hand out the rosters and at the bottom
- 21:21Speaker 1: it lists all the coaches, that's where you'll have to
- 21:23Speaker 1: like read the fine print and say, right, okay, either
- 21:25Speaker 1: it'll say offensive coordinator for one of them or it won't,
- 21:28Speaker 1: and they'll You'll just have to now do your get
- 21:30Speaker 1: your bonacos out and say, okay, who's got the headset on?
- 21:32Speaker 1: Who's got the bran? Right? But even then, I don't
- 21:34Speaker 1: think you'll be able to, like, do you know who
- 21:36Speaker 1: the defensive coordinator is? I think it's two people. It's
- 21:38Speaker 1: been two years, right, right, Yeah, I think it's those
- 21:40Speaker 1: two people have been watching the headsets and the two years,
- 21:44Speaker 1: And I don't think that. I mean, I think We
- 21:46Speaker 1: all have our opinions, and I don't I'm not here
- 21:49Speaker 1: to tell you anybody's opinion is wrong, but I don't
- 21:51Speaker 1: think anybody knows. Yeah, and I think there's a chance
- 21:54Speaker 1: that you won't know who's calling the plays either. It'll
- 21:56Speaker 1: be interesting. I mean I I and I haven't ever
- 21:58Speaker 1: been here when there wasn't an offensive coordinator. But it
- 21:59Speaker 1: was always clear Josh was running the show. And you
- 22:02Speaker 1: know what what Bohart agree I think was his last
- 22:05Speaker 1: year quarterback coach. Who was you know, in the mix
- 22:07Speaker 1: around them, But it was pretty obvious just to anybody
- 22:11Speaker 1: who was running the show. I mean, people are thinking, oh, offense, Well,
- 22:14Speaker 1: whoever's got the card, that's who's calling the plays. But
- 22:17Speaker 1: Bill probably doesn't need a card, so he could be
- 22:20Speaker 1: calling the plays without a card for all we know,
- 22:23Speaker 1: and all the rest of the guys are holding cards.
- 22:25Speaker 1: What's calling the place? They could be? Yeah, that's I
- 22:29Speaker 1: mean they you know, it's never been done here at
- 22:32Speaker 1: least a long time. But you know, in a lot
- 22:36Speaker 1: of teams, the offensive coordinator sits up in the booth,
- 22:38Speaker 1: he calls the play from up there. We've never done that,
- 22:40Speaker 1: but like it could be Matt you know Patricia up there.
- 22:44Speaker 1: You know they might change it all the way back
- 22:46Speaker 1: to Ernie, he took the words out of my mouth.
- 22:48Speaker 1: I was going to say the nineties. And he had
- 22:50Speaker 1: the colored pencils. Oh, I know, he cigarettes that's how
- 22:53Speaker 1: That's how he contacted the mothers the pencils together, Ernie boy.
- 23:00Speaker 1: It'll be something to watch though at ot As. I mean,
- 23:02Speaker 1: that's I'm sure what everybody's gonna be laser focused on
- 23:05Speaker 1: who's talking, who's in Max here, who's you know, with
- 23:08Speaker 1: them one and more not because I mean the other
- 23:10Speaker 1: thing I was thinking about too, is that, you know,
- 23:12Speaker 1: when when these guys left, when Josh left and took
- 23:15Speaker 1: people with him, I felt like there'd be more people
- 23:18Speaker 1: coming in. They really, I mean Joe Judges come in?
- 23:20Speaker 1: Has anyone else come in? I mean, I don't think
- 23:23Speaker 1: anyone else has been hired or promoted or anything. They're
- 23:26Speaker 1: not in terms of coaching. But I heard a rumor
- 23:28Speaker 1: that there's a guy from Tampa coming into the scouting department. Yeah,
- 23:33Speaker 1: I did see that, and I heard we were losing
- 23:34Speaker 1: a guy from the scouting yeast. That followed up on right,
- 23:39Speaker 1: do we know who from who's leaving? Yeah, I'm not sure.
- 23:42Speaker 1: I forget the name, but I mean, you lost your
- 23:45Speaker 1: your offensive line coach, your wide receivers coach, your quarterbacks coach,
- 23:49Speaker 1: and your offensive coordinator and you brought back Joe Judge
- 23:52Speaker 1: so well. And you could also say, and you're bringing
- 23:56Speaker 1: Matt Patricia in yeah from Snell? Yeah, yeah, right? But
- 24:01Speaker 1: is that is that ideal? Is that what they want?
- 24:05Speaker 1: I'm just talking numbers, Yeah, yeah, yeah. I mean I
- 24:08Speaker 1: think last year it felt like he was the Ernie role,
- 24:10Speaker 1: and that seems like that that's a valuable role to them.
- 24:13Speaker 1: And it's like, I think a lot of people are saying, well,
- 24:15Speaker 1: Matt Patricia is just going to co coach the offensive line.
- 24:17Speaker 1: I'm like, is that what's best? I don't know. I mean,
- 24:20Speaker 1: it's just I just don't know how. I'm sure they'll
- 24:22Speaker 1: figure it out, and they have coaches that they believe in,
- 24:25Speaker 1: but I don't know. See this, there's more of that
- 24:27Speaker 1: wonderful optimism that I'm just lacking, and I'm not sure
- 24:31Speaker 1: they'll figure it out. I don't know. I have no
- 24:33Speaker 1: idea what's going to happen. I really don't. I think
- 24:35Speaker 1: that's a major question this season coaching the staff in general.
- 24:41Speaker 1: I think it's a major question mark just from the
- 24:44Speaker 1: numbers perspective alone. Like, I mean, you can tell me
- 24:45Speaker 1: that all they're going to promote Billy Yates and you know,
- 24:48Speaker 1: Troy Brown's going to take over the receivers and that's
- 24:50Speaker 1: all fine, But you know, it's just it feels. It
- 24:52Speaker 1: feels it's it's usually thin, and it feels even thinner
- 24:55Speaker 1: right now. Yeah, I don't. It's not necessarily about the
- 24:57Speaker 1: numbers for me, as it is the experience doing the
- 25:00Speaker 1: jobs that need to be done. I don't think they
- 25:02Speaker 1: have answers. I don't think they have answers. They have
- 25:06Speaker 1: defensive guys on the offensive side of the ball. They
- 25:08Speaker 1: have no one really that's ever called plays on the
- 25:11Speaker 1: offensive side of the ball. And I just I don't
- 25:16Speaker 1: really understand what exactly the end game is for Bill.
- 25:21Speaker 1: I don't. I don't. I don't know why he is
- 25:24Speaker 1: so adamant about not going outside of the organization to
- 25:29Speaker 1: find help. Yeah, I don't know. It could be just
- 25:32Speaker 1: stubborn well yeah, or just trust mistrust. Doesn't trust someone
- 25:38Speaker 1: from the outside. I mean, it's not like he's never
- 25:40Speaker 1: done that. It's rare though, Yeah, But it's almost always
- 25:44Speaker 1: a connection of some sort. Now to you a point
- 25:47Speaker 1: Freddie when he has gone to like Dean Peas or
- 25:50Speaker 1: Billy O'Brien initially, yea, why I mean, why not do
- 25:55Speaker 1: it that way? Again, there's nobody else that you have
- 25:57Speaker 1: a connection to somehow from outside that could have worked. Yeah,
- 26:02Speaker 1: they ran out of his friends, kids that need jobs.
- 26:05Speaker 1: I mean, there's nout there about our favorite dom Papers.
- 26:08Speaker 1: Ye see, I wonder about him if that was above
- 26:13Speaker 1: Bill um, Yeah, because the only lasted a yeah, because
- 26:17Speaker 1: that was the year that that's right, that whole cloud
- 26:19Speaker 1: was hanging over and you didn't know what was going
- 26:20Speaker 1: to happen. So I think that they might have needed
- 26:22Speaker 1: an interim head. Yeah, was it a way? Yeah? Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 26:28Speaker 1: yeah Yeah. He was a nice guy, dom Papers. I
- 26:32Speaker 1: knew he wasn't along for this place. Yeah. Any who?
- 26:35Speaker 1: All right, eight five five past five hundred. Uh is
- 26:38Speaker 1: the Ace ticket houtline web radio at Patriots dot com.
- 26:41Speaker 1: Let's start off with Rashod in Baltimore. What's up with shot? Hey?
- 26:47Speaker 1: What's up? What's up? Hey? Uh? First, you see, I
- 26:50Speaker 1: got to talk about the schedule. Um, I will say
- 26:53Speaker 1: I did I did hear a room about the Patriots. U.
- 26:56Speaker 1: I heard about the Raiders. But what I heard is
- 26:59Speaker 1: the pay Trips who played a card in Week one,
- 27:02Speaker 1: and they'll stay on the West Coast and then they'll
- 27:04Speaker 1: play the Raiders Sunday night. I couldn't be it could
- 27:07Speaker 1: still be the Raiders home opener. I'd be very surprised
- 27:09Speaker 1: if that's the way it opens. But but just I
- 27:12Speaker 1: don't know. But but my poems about that, I love that.
- 27:15Speaker 1: Get those out of the way. I don't want to
- 27:17Speaker 1: play Miami week one in Week seven, c Yeah, there's
- 27:20Speaker 1: a good chance. I don't want to do that. There's
- 27:22Speaker 1: a good chance of that. Rashad Well, I don't think
- 27:24Speaker 1: there's a great chance to play in Miami wee one. No,
- 27:26Speaker 1: but at the end yeah, yeah, but two years in
- 27:30Speaker 1: a row, I don't want to. I don't want New
- 27:33Speaker 1: England to go to Miami at the end of the year.
- 27:37Speaker 1: I want I wanted to be the Envers, but I
- 27:39Speaker 1: can't remember the last time they came to New England,
- 27:42Speaker 1: like a three years again, three years ago the last
- 27:47Speaker 1: game of the season. Fitzy lit him up, didn't he. Yeah,
- 27:50Speaker 1: but I'm not obviously, But I'm hoping when the Patriots
- 27:57Speaker 1: played a raven Hopefully it's like earlier in the seven,
- 27:59Speaker 1: because that's usually when I go up there to feed
- 28:02Speaker 1: him with family. But the last time I went, I
- 28:05Speaker 1: think with twenty nineteen, it was pouring down, raining, and
- 28:08Speaker 1: I'm not really for that. So I'm happy that they
- 28:10Speaker 1: can get a good schedule. Well, that can happen anyway,
- 28:15Speaker 1: no rain, no whether if the Patriots, if if I
- 28:20Speaker 1: if I do have faith in the Patriots, like if
- 28:22Speaker 1: I want them to win this season, if I didn't
- 28:24Speaker 1: want them to play somebody week one to get out
- 28:26Speaker 1: of the way, I would say played a Green Bay
- 28:28Speaker 1: Pack for the week one because that might be the
- 28:31Speaker 1: literally best shot to beat them. I want to play
- 28:34Speaker 1: Houston early in case DeShawn Watson's land Cleveland. They got
- 28:38Speaker 1: a lot of those coming up. I would book. I
- 28:41Speaker 1: would book a couple of things. I would just I
- 28:44Speaker 1: would just book it. I would book Cleveland in the
- 28:45Speaker 1: first six weeks of the season, right, Um, who's the
- 28:48Speaker 1: guy that just got Arizona will be in the first
- 28:51Speaker 1: six weeks. DeAndre Hopkins just got popped. I would book
- 28:54Speaker 1: those things. Those are locks. If you got that. If
- 28:57Speaker 1: what he said the Arizona Vegas back to back that
- 29:00Speaker 1: to start the season. Then you'd be having one of
- 29:01Speaker 1: those week long road trips. Yeah whatever. Major had a
- 29:05Speaker 1: random ota around the league today. Yeah, add that to
- 29:09Speaker 1: the mix. What you say, Rashod, I guess they said
- 29:13Speaker 1: the Patriots might be on a roll because they said
- 29:16Speaker 1: the rev the Boston soccer team. I guess they have
- 29:18Speaker 1: a home game around that time, So that's why the
- 29:20Speaker 1: Patris will be on Oh well, but they could play
- 29:23Speaker 1: on Monday. Yeah, there are some concerts here in September two. Yeah,
- 29:27Speaker 1: so yeah, and I have definitely seen the Raiders thing
- 29:31Speaker 1: has been on the internet for like two weeks. Like
- 29:33Speaker 1: I thought it was week one. Now Rashad thinks it
- 29:36Speaker 1: might be week two. Um, but a Monday night, a
- 29:39Speaker 1: Monday night game against the Raiders in week one is
- 29:43Speaker 1: what I had heard about. McDaniels and Belichick. I can
- 29:46Speaker 1: see them wanting that. Maybe maybe it ends up being
- 29:49Speaker 1: a Sunday night game instead, as Rashad said in week two. Yeah, yeah,
- 29:53Speaker 1: who knows. This year Bill beats Josh and Bill jumps
- 29:56Speaker 1: around like game. Yeah. I mean, if they can get
- 29:59Speaker 1: in at least three, at least three or four, and
- 30:01Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure we're gonna get one divisional prime time.
- 30:05Speaker 1: I don't think it's gonna be the Bills this time,
- 30:07Speaker 1: like maybe it'll be the Dolphins. But you know, I'm
- 30:10Speaker 1: just hoping we get some good some some good primetime
- 30:13Speaker 1: game slots. Like I know everybody gets a Thursday, but
- 30:16Speaker 1: I don't want Thay. I'm hoping for all Sunday at one. Yeah, yeah,
- 30:21Speaker 1: those are the best. Yeah, all right, thanks for Sean.
- 30:24Speaker 1: They'll probably get three or four primetime games. Yeah, I
- 30:30Speaker 1: mean you get a Thursday in a Monday and a
- 30:33Speaker 1: Sunday probably, I know, I know, you know, like with
- 30:36Speaker 1: Shard was here, I don't want to play Miami Week
- 30:38Speaker 1: seventeen again. I'm the same way with the playoffs. I'm
- 30:41Speaker 1: not playing that, Like what's the best path If we
- 30:44Speaker 1: can't beat Miami in Week seventeen, I don't care, Like
- 30:47Speaker 1: I'm not playing that game. You know. We just got
- 30:50Speaker 1: to play the teams that are presented to us each week.
- 30:53Speaker 1: And if we can't do that, like, I don't want
- 30:55Speaker 1: any shortcuts, you know what I mean? I just want
- 30:57Speaker 1: to flat out beat teams. Yeah, I just I don't
- 31:00Speaker 1: think there are any shortcuts with this team. I mean,
- 31:02Speaker 1: you don't know anything. I mean every game right now
- 31:05Speaker 1: on paper, I mean used to pencil in wins that
- 31:08Speaker 1: every single ones. We broke the pencil a couple of
- 31:10Speaker 1: years ago. Right, they play Houston, No, we don't play Houston, Detroit, Chicago.
- 31:17Speaker 1: I don't pencil in either one of these. Um, Minnesota, Minnesota,
- 31:21Speaker 1: Green Bay Browns Nope, Cardinals, Raiders, Colts, Ravens definitely. No,
- 31:29Speaker 1: Bengals Nope, that's it. I mean those are yeah. Well,
- 31:32Speaker 1: I don't Mike's right, I don't pencil in anybody, nobody, nobody.
- 31:36Speaker 1: I mean we could maybe talk Lions and Bears. That
- 31:39Speaker 1: might be where Oh yeahs, I don't pencil Lions and
- 31:44Speaker 1: Bengals and Bears them with Lions, Tigers and Bears. Oh,
- 31:50Speaker 1: you just gave me my head. Just analysis, God, Dan,
- 31:55Speaker 1: Patriots heading to the jungle this year. Welcome to the June.
- 32:00Speaker 1: Travis is a chapel hill in North Carolina. Travis. Hey,
- 32:05Speaker 1: how's everyone okay? Padically, Hey, I was calling um last week.
- 32:10Speaker 1: You guys were talking about it. Robert Craft approached Belicheck
- 32:14Speaker 1: about relieving on his GM duties, that he were probably
- 32:18Speaker 1: the team, And I guess my question, as if we
- 32:22Speaker 1: see in the last couple of years that this draft
- 32:24Speaker 1: didn't work. Next year's draft not working. Like the players
- 32:27Speaker 1: we could have got are doing good elsewhere, but we
- 32:30Speaker 1: could have had them. Wouldn't it be in the best
- 32:33Speaker 1: interest As Bill has been preached, he does best for
- 32:36Speaker 1: the team. If they release him of the GM duty,
- 32:39Speaker 1: and let's say he did lead, how will that look
- 32:41Speaker 1: to his former players like Brady who didn't look at
- 32:45Speaker 1: past performance or future performance and did Hayden what was
- 32:49Speaker 1: best for the team. How will that make that look
- 32:51Speaker 1: on him? If he left the team because they wanted
- 32:54Speaker 1: relieve him for his DM. If he, you know, Robert
- 32:57Speaker 1: Craft took his DM duties away and he was like, hey,
- 33:00Speaker 1: I'm leaving there. Well, I see, we'll never know like
- 33:04Speaker 1: why he's like, we will be able to think that, oh,
- 33:08Speaker 1: Robert probably wanted to strip him of GM, and that's
- 33:11Speaker 1: White left, But that will never become public. It'll be
- 33:14Speaker 1: just that he left. If let's just play this out
- 33:16Speaker 1: for a second, and if they have this draft turns
- 33:19Speaker 1: out to be a disaster and they you know, two
- 33:23Speaker 1: years down there, don't you want to relieve him of
- 33:25Speaker 1: his duties? Period? Right? Well, that's what I mean no,
- 33:27Speaker 1: I mean, let's move on, right. I don't want to
- 33:29Speaker 1: separate Church from State. I just I want a new coach. Yeah,
- 33:32Speaker 1: I want to start like it's not working. That would
- 33:34Speaker 1: be like five years right. Oh, you know, no postseason success.
- 33:40Speaker 1: He just doesn't have the player to play. Yeah, but
- 33:43Speaker 1: he can't have good but you just don't have good players. Yeah.
- 33:46Speaker 1: But I hear what you're saying, like we still want
- 33:48Speaker 1: him as a coach, but let somebody else pick the players,
- 33:52Speaker 1: you know, I hear that. But like, even if that's
- 33:56Speaker 1: what Robert Kraft wanted and Bill said no, we will,
- 34:00Speaker 1: you will never know that that's what happened. And if
- 34:03Speaker 1: you don't think he can coach up the players he's picking,
- 34:05Speaker 1: Why do you think he can coach up the players
- 34:06Speaker 1: he's someone else is picking and he's pouting about yea
- 34:09Speaker 1: more than life doesn't sound like a. Like I said,
- 34:11Speaker 1: if if it doesn't if it doesn't go, well, I
- 34:13Speaker 1: don't see this happening, by the way, I don't see
- 34:16Speaker 1: I think when Bill is no longer the coach of
- 34:18Speaker 1: the Patriots, it's going to be at least mostly Bill's choice. Yeah, right,
- 34:23Speaker 1: I think they'll probably come to an understanding and Bill
- 34:26Speaker 1: says it's time. But if he's not having any success,
- 34:29Speaker 1: I don't see why you would want to keep him
- 34:30Speaker 1: as coach. I really don't. I don't think anybody is
- 34:33Speaker 1: that good of a coach if you're not succeeding. But
- 34:37Speaker 1: he's so good, I can't get rid of him. Right,
- 34:39Speaker 1: he should be winning games if he's that good of
- 34:41Speaker 1: a coach. Right, you know, players are no players, And
- 34:44Speaker 1: this is the season. I mean, I mean everything he
- 34:46Speaker 1: said is true, you know, And you're gonna you're talking
- 34:48Speaker 1: about turning things over on defense a little bit. You're
- 34:50Speaker 1: gonna rely even more on players you drafted, so we're
- 34:53Speaker 1: gonna even have a clearer picture of how those draft
- 34:56Speaker 1: picks were. If you're not winning, there's a lot of
- 35:01Speaker 1: other things that happened besides oh we just didn't get
- 35:03Speaker 1: good players in the draft. You start to lose the
- 35:06Speaker 1: locker room, other things will happen, and it'll be a
- 35:10Speaker 1: whole bunch of things that would have to happen for,
- 35:13Speaker 1: you know, the crafts to get rid of you know, Bill,
- 35:16Speaker 1: or Bill decides I'm hanging it up, you know, So
- 35:21Speaker 1: if you're losing games, I'm with Paul. You just got
- 35:24Speaker 1: to move on, right, Yeah. I mean, you know, you
- 35:26Speaker 1: had the Cam Newton year. You found a quarterback last year,
- 35:29Speaker 1: which is necessary and great, but I mean I just
- 35:33Speaker 1: feel like this season is and you know not I mean,
- 35:35Speaker 1: he's the greatest coach of all time, but you know,
- 35:37Speaker 1: it's kind of approving round this year. If there's not
- 35:39Speaker 1: really like Brady's been gone for a couple of years,
- 35:40Speaker 1: there's not really like anything to hold onto with that anymore.
- 35:43Speaker 1: You've got a new quarterback that you trade in the
- 35:45Speaker 1: first that you draft in the first round, that you
- 35:47Speaker 1: you know, believe in. You've given him some free agents
- 35:49Speaker 1: last year. So it's I mean, we just said it. No,
- 35:52Speaker 1: nothing's guaranteed this season. I think there's gonna be a
- 35:54Speaker 1: lot of games this year where when you look at
- 35:59Speaker 1: the matchup, you're gonna say, the other team has more talent,
- 36:02Speaker 1: you know, Yeah, and I'm saying that last year. Right, Well,
- 36:06Speaker 1: we've we've said it a long time. I think I
- 36:08Speaker 1: think we kind of in the past we kind of
- 36:11Speaker 1: disrespected Brady a little bit because we've done this before.
- 36:14Speaker 1: We've gone down rosters, you know, even in the heydays
- 36:17Speaker 1: and said that team has more talent than this team, Yeah,
- 36:20Speaker 1: but not as often you're talking about like an ADFC
- 36:23Speaker 1: championship game when they're playing like colts at the height
- 36:25Speaker 1: of their pology. Yeah, you might have been able to
- 36:27Speaker 1: make an audience that might have more talent, But but
- 36:30Speaker 1: you didn't do that in like week. But I remember,
- 36:35Speaker 1: I remember doing it. Um. But I think you're almost
- 36:38Speaker 1: gonna be You might be able to do it almost
- 36:40Speaker 1: every week this year in terms of just pure talent um.
- 36:44Speaker 1: But we'll see. I mean, this will be the mark
- 36:45Speaker 1: of Okay, can Bill Belichick the coach, you know, neutralize
- 36:51Speaker 1: the guys on the other team that is, you know,
- 36:53Speaker 1: the game wreckers and play you know, you know you're
- 36:57Speaker 1: not gonna be able to make mistakes like you did
- 36:59Speaker 1: early in a season, because if you do, you're gonna lose.
- 37:02Speaker 1: Can you play clean football, good team football, especially on defense,
- 37:06Speaker 1: and win these games against more talented teams. I think
- 37:09Speaker 1: they can. Yeah, I think they can. But it's going
- 37:11Speaker 1: to be a big, big task, And that's what I'm
- 37:14Speaker 1: most interested. I have belief that that they can, and
- 37:16Speaker 1: I know that's kind of the place I come to
- 37:18Speaker 1: where where a well coached team that's all playing together
- 37:21Speaker 1: and doesn't beat themselves is worth a lot, you know,
- 37:23Speaker 1: when compared to talent, but they got to do it.
- 37:26Speaker 1: And I mean every week it's you know, you go
- 37:28Speaker 1: against the Bengals, there's a great chance, you go against
- 37:30Speaker 1: the Bills. I mean there's a great chance. I mean,
- 37:32Speaker 1: you know, in every game it's going to be tough,
- 37:33Speaker 1: but it's also an opportunity to you know, show that
- 37:36Speaker 1: they are taking steps forward and you know, not continuing
- 37:40Speaker 1: to backslide even though they've really put a lot of
- 37:42Speaker 1: pieces into place. They spend a lot of money, they
- 37:44Speaker 1: got a quarterback, they're turning things over a little bit
- 37:47Speaker 1: on defense, which you know, I think does you know,
- 37:50Speaker 1: warrant a little bit of understanding in terms of some
- 37:53Speaker 1: of the ups and downs probably early in the season
- 37:55Speaker 1: that they're going to go through. But I mean hopefully
- 37:57Speaker 1: that those lumps they take early with those young guys,
- 37:59Speaker 1: it pays off down the stretch. But the last couple
- 38:01Speaker 1: of years down the stretch hasn't been good. So thanks
- 38:03Speaker 1: Travis Good call um, Let's go to William and Phillham.
- 38:08Speaker 1: What's up? William Good? Okay? Uh one quart do you
- 38:15Speaker 1: think the Pacers will make like one more move on
- 38:18Speaker 1: terms of edge of Russia or a corner. I think
- 38:22Speaker 1: they'll make one more move. I don't know a position, yeah,
- 38:24Speaker 1: but I don't. I think I think he's asking a
- 38:26Speaker 1: significant move, am I right? William? I think wow, I
- 38:29Speaker 1: think there's a chance of a Russia. Yeah, yeah, nothing
- 38:33Speaker 1: big because I know that. You know, we don't have
- 38:34Speaker 1: much money, no far as in it, right, just you know,
- 38:36Speaker 1: I mean, I mean they can make a bunch of
- 38:38Speaker 1: moves at a bunch of positions. We talked last week
- 38:40Speaker 1: about Brandberry from Giants. He officially was released. So there's
- 38:44Speaker 1: a quality corner that's available. I think. So they got
- 38:47Speaker 1: some flexibility, They got a few roster spots. I mean,
- 38:50Speaker 1: I think they always say roster buildings year round. You know,
- 38:52Speaker 1: this isn't the settled team. I wouldn't be surprised at all,
- 38:55Speaker 1: especially if those those two positions. They seem like they
- 38:58Speaker 1: could certainly use some some additional bodies. Thanks, William. I
- 39:02Speaker 1: don't know what's going on over there, see, And it
- 39:04Speaker 1: sounds windy. Yeah, it's been windy every day for like
- 39:08Speaker 1: three months. It's true. Up here, it's been like the
- 39:11Speaker 1: wind has been and it's keeping the cold, right, that's
- 39:14Speaker 1: what you know. Eldred's calling to tell us how the
- 39:17Speaker 1: Patriots are going to make the playoffs this year. What's up, Eldred? Hey, Hey,
- 39:22Speaker 1: I'm I think we're gonna make the playoffs. I know
- 39:24Speaker 1: I'm always kidding, Yeah, I know, but I think y'all
- 39:30Speaker 1: missed the point that they first call them mate, they
- 39:33Speaker 1: call for me before wheel. He said, if you look
- 39:37Speaker 1: back the playoff that we could have had doing a
- 39:40Speaker 1: whole lot better than month that he picked, how would
- 39:43Speaker 1: you feel the No, I would want to get rid
- 39:46Speaker 1: of them. I guess what that was. How I would feel. Yeah,
- 39:48Speaker 1: I don't want him coaching my team either, But I
- 39:51Speaker 1: think that we were just talking more to the bigger
- 39:52Speaker 1: point of I don't really care about you know what
- 39:55Speaker 1: I mean. I'm sure that'll be something for people to
- 39:56Speaker 1: do to go he could have had this guy, and like,
- 39:59Speaker 1: it's just the fools, because I think you could do
- 40:00Speaker 1: that with any draft and probably find better guys. And
- 40:03Speaker 1: that's when you find out if you have a good
- 40:04Speaker 1: draft or not. If you just tell me for winning games,
- 40:08Speaker 1: that's right, and they haven't. That's the point. Like throughout
- 40:13Speaker 1: the first fifteen years he was winning games, it didn't
- 40:16Speaker 1: matter if they were missing on some talent. Right, That's
- 40:19Speaker 1: that's the thing. That's why the drafts of the last
- 40:21Speaker 1: four or five years have been in the spotlight. If
- 40:23Speaker 1: they're winning and guys are doing better that he didn't pick,
- 40:27Speaker 1: it won't matter because they're winning. But if they're losing,
- 40:30Speaker 1: it will matter. Like that is the essence of the draft. Right,
- 40:33Speaker 1: you picked twenty ninth. Was someone picked thirty second that
- 40:36Speaker 1: was better than the guy you picked twenty ninth, Right,
- 40:38Speaker 1: that's the essence of the draft. Yeah, it's not like, oh,
- 40:42Speaker 1: you know you'd passed on Jerry Rice, well, sort of
- 40:44Speaker 1: like thirty other teams. You know, you know I'm exaggerating
- 40:46Speaker 1: with hypothetical numbers. Right, anybody can miss on a great player.
- 40:50Speaker 1: You know, one hundred and ninety eight teams didn't pick
- 40:52Speaker 1: Tom Brady, Right, you know, that's not what we're talking about.
- 40:56Speaker 1: But when you picked someone at thirty two or whatever
- 41:00Speaker 1: o'harry was, and there's five other receivers that got picked
- 41:03Speaker 1: in the next round that are vastly superior, that's relevant,
- 41:06Speaker 1: and especially like when it's the same position. Right, That's
- 41:09Speaker 1: what I'm saying, that's what makes it relevant. Yeah, But
- 41:11Speaker 1: you could say, well, geez, you know you you had
- 41:14Speaker 1: to pick at fifteen and at sixteen Patrick Mahomes went, Well,
- 41:17Speaker 1: I had Tom Brady. I didn't need Patrick Malts. Right,
- 41:19Speaker 1: that's not a bad pick, you know, like that. But
- 41:22Speaker 1: when you take a wide receiver and other wide receivers
- 41:25Speaker 1: are better, that's that's a question. Right, where did you
- 41:29Speaker 1: miss in your analysis and you took a guard? I agree?
- 41:35Speaker 1: I agree when you needed a corner you didn't have,
- 41:38Speaker 1: you know, Reevus and ty Law in their prime, you
- 41:40Speaker 1: needed a corner, you passed on it to take a guard. Yeah, yeah,
- 41:45Speaker 1: and you got five eight, five nine. Yeah. I still
- 41:48Speaker 1: like Marcus Jones, though I'm not going to tuck smack
- 41:50Speaker 1: on him. He's my draft pick of this class. It
- 41:53Speaker 1: might be the only one of the class I really like.
- 41:55Speaker 1: But I like, but I don't think, No, that's probably
- 42:02Speaker 1: not gonna ask him to cover six two receivers though,
- 42:05Speaker 1: if he's a corny guy to cover one of them
- 42:06Speaker 1: because they killed yeah j w Yeah, speaking of Miami,
- 42:17Speaker 1: what do you think Freddie Sonny Michael, Yeah, yeah, I
- 42:21Speaker 1: just can't believe he was still available here in Midney. Well,
- 42:25Speaker 1: it just made sense of someone in our division that
- 42:28Speaker 1: knows him well, would take him. Yeah, you know, yeah,
- 42:32Speaker 1: because the guy who's the coach of Miami has vast
- 42:35Speaker 1: experience in the AFCAS. He's got support people. You know,
- 42:39Speaker 1: they didn't fire Crew Chris Greer shows them, you know.
- 42:43Speaker 1: I mean, how much time do we spend talking about
- 42:45Speaker 1: Sony the last couple we ordas I met the General
- 42:51Speaker 1: Fred has a crush on like it's always like, uh,
- 42:54Speaker 1: taking his jas the ball, right? I mean that was
- 42:57Speaker 1: like we kept waiting for him to be like, call
- 43:00Speaker 1: perfectly fine as I like to say, he's perfectly adequate
- 43:03Speaker 1: in his adequas what's there? He's not much more. You
- 43:07Speaker 1: block it for five yards, he'll get your five yards. Yeah,
- 43:09Speaker 1: you block it for two, he'll get you two. Could add?
- 43:14Speaker 1: You see Nick Chubb benching, Bar just bending I'm sorry,
- 43:22Speaker 1: Bar just bending over his back Like so yeah, I
- 43:26Speaker 1: don't want to give it away yet because I haven't
- 43:27Speaker 1: written by Kevin Harris profile, but that was a guy
- 43:30Speaker 1: that was strongly compared to Kevin Harris by the South
- 43:34Speaker 1: Carolina Montario Hardesty is the running backs coach for South
- 43:39Speaker 1: Carolina former Tennessee Ball and played a couple of years
- 43:42Speaker 1: I think with the Browns um, but yeah, he thought
- 43:45Speaker 1: a lot of Nick Chubb and Kevin Harris. Well, yes, please, yes,
- 43:49Speaker 1: please yeah. Uh. Sean of Vancouver writes in I get
- 43:53Speaker 1: why Fox would hire Tom Brady as their top analysts.
- 43:56Speaker 1: They want to compete and saw how CBS got a
- 43:58Speaker 1: boost with Tony Romo Kevin burk Well, they did at first,
- 44:03Speaker 1: like no, no, no, Kevin, Tony Romo created a buzz. Yeah.
- 44:06Speaker 1: I'd like to see what the ratings were like in
- 44:08Speaker 1: Romo games from that year to the previous year when
- 44:12Speaker 1: they were like the same, you know what I mean?
- 44:14Speaker 1: Ye games, initial buzz from Romo like Romo for a
- 44:23Speaker 1: little while, there was talk of the NFL. But did
- 44:26Speaker 1: that translate? Yeah, I don't know, he says. Kevin Burkhardt
- 44:29Speaker 1: with Tom Brady could move up to number one in
- 44:31Speaker 1: NFL broadcaster rankings. I didn't know there was such a thing. Yeah. Uh.
- 44:36Speaker 1: Fox would then pair Greg Olsen with someone else like
- 44:39Speaker 1: Adam I mean you know what I mean? Yeah, Yeah,
- 44:43Speaker 1: so they get a they get a deeper bench, is
- 44:45Speaker 1: what he's saying. I guess I don't feel bad for Olsen.
- 44:48Speaker 1: I'm sure he is a nice contract that is making
- 44:50Speaker 1: more than anything else. He could do after retiring from
- 44:52Speaker 1: the NFL. Who would argue that they would be a
- 44:55Speaker 1: better NFL analyst than Tom Brady? He works hard, he's articulate,
- 44:59Speaker 1: he's ultra competitive. I would argue it, and played the
- 45:01Speaker 1: sport for over twenty years, I could argue anything, as
- 45:04Speaker 1: you know, But I've never seen him do it. So
- 45:06Speaker 1: I'm going to argue that someone who has done it
- 45:08Speaker 1: would conceivably be better, but hight unseen, I'm going to
- 45:10Speaker 1: say someone else could be better. Now if he does it,
- 45:13Speaker 1: and i'm and he's really good, I'll say he's the best.
- 45:16Speaker 1: What if Tom Brady becomes the best color analyst of
- 45:19Speaker 1: all time? But the goat of color analysts? Well, like
- 45:22Speaker 1: you know how he knows, he says, and what if
- 45:25Speaker 1: that does translates the other thing? Though sective? It's such
- 45:29Speaker 1: a subjective skill. Though. Do you think Tony Romo is
- 45:32Speaker 1: the best it has ever done it? A lot of
- 45:33Speaker 1: people do. I don't. I think for a while he
- 45:36Speaker 1: was the best doing it at the time, but then
- 45:39Speaker 1: he got a little stale, and I don't think you know,
- 45:42Speaker 1: it wasn't the sound of it became a character? What
- 45:44Speaker 1: do you think? I don't think he's very good at
- 45:46Speaker 1: what do you everybody else disagrees when when he first started,
- 45:48Speaker 1: I enjoyed listening to him the most. Yeah, yeah, Romo. Yeah.
- 45:53Speaker 1: Do you think he was better than Madden and Madden's prime? Yeah?
- 45:56Speaker 1: I you know, well, Madden was good when he first started,
- 45:59Speaker 1: but as I got older, I get really tired of
- 46:02Speaker 1: that whole thing, the act. It seemed like an act.
- 46:04Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, But the beauty of Madden was he was
- 46:09Speaker 1: just every guy out there. He did simplify it, you know,
- 46:13Speaker 1: But do you think that's what people need more of now?
- 46:16Speaker 1: As opposed to the the romotypes who are analyzing it properly,
- 46:22Speaker 1: like as far as like what's going to happen on
- 46:23Speaker 1: the play? But what does that mean to the person
- 46:26Speaker 1: sitting on their couch who's just kind of casually watching?
- 46:28Speaker 1: Are they Are they comprehending the terminology that he's throwing.
- 46:31Speaker 1: I think I think I think it's I think he
- 46:33Speaker 1: appealed the beauty for me and Romo, as he appealed
- 46:36Speaker 1: to both. He did get into the Super X and O,
- 46:39Speaker 1: but he had that everyday man passion about it, you know,
- 46:43Speaker 1: like you know, like like you could feel like he
- 46:45Speaker 1: enjoyed doing it, And I think as a viewer that
- 46:49Speaker 1: makes a difference, like if if that person is enjoying
- 46:52Speaker 1: it it, you know, I can feel that and it
- 46:55Speaker 1: makes it better for me too. Yeah, you know you
- 46:57Speaker 1: guys listen to all to the Manning cast. No, I
- 46:59Speaker 1: a couple times I tuned into a brief. I always
- 47:02Speaker 1: forgot to rather have him do it. I just see,
- 47:04Speaker 1: I don't think any of them do it. I don't
- 47:05Speaker 1: think any of Like you said, who do you think
- 47:07Speaker 1: is that? I don't think any of them do it
- 47:08Speaker 1: really well to be no, but this is interesting, Like
- 47:11Speaker 1: I think, man what do you think is missing from
- 47:13Speaker 1: what people like? Like when Manning was doing it with
- 47:15Speaker 1: his brother and they were talking about it, like listening
- 47:17Speaker 1: to them on like two minute drills and even setting
- 47:20Speaker 1: up two minute drills like the drive before you know
- 47:22Speaker 1: when the other team's got the ball, and talking about clock.
- 47:25Speaker 1: That's the stuff that I think people want to hear.
- 47:28Speaker 1: I don't think most people watching a game or so
- 47:31Speaker 1: into the XS and o's that they're looking to see
- 47:34Speaker 1: if the if the single high safety is shaded to
- 47:37Speaker 1: the wrong side, like yeah, and I'm sure that every
- 47:40Speaker 1: quarterback can do that, because that's what they do, right.
- 47:43Speaker 1: I don't think most average Joe's watching the game are
- 47:46Speaker 1: all that interested in that. We might find it interesting
- 47:49Speaker 1: because we're here and we listen to Bill talk about
- 47:51Speaker 1: these things and then we see it, right, so we
- 47:53Speaker 1: might find it interesting. But average Joe, I think is
- 47:56Speaker 1: kind of put off by the technical xs and o's.
- 47:59Speaker 1: But game strategy like call the time out here, get
- 48:02Speaker 1: out of bounds there, don't spike it here, take a shot.
- 48:05Speaker 1: They wasted two plays. I think that's interesting to anybody. Yeah,
- 48:09Speaker 1: and no one does it. Yeah, no one does it consistently.
- 48:12Speaker 1: The hard part with the Manning thing was that they
- 48:13Speaker 1: didn't really have to worry about the play by play making.
- 48:16Speaker 1: They could just kind of talk and not have to
- 48:18Speaker 1: worry about yeah, let this correct. Get so. I'm not
- 48:21Speaker 1: sure that Manning would be the same if he was
- 48:22Speaker 1: doing so. It's hard to like be able to interject,
- 48:25Speaker 1: make a quick point, and then allow the play by
- 48:27Speaker 1: play guy to continue working. So it's it's a it's
- 48:30Speaker 1: an hard format generally. I don't even listen to this.
- 48:33Speaker 1: I think with the amount of money now but not
- 48:36Speaker 1: that they haven't always spent, but like you know, the Amazon,
- 48:39Speaker 1: all this money that's in there. Now. I think you're
- 48:41Speaker 1: going to see more and more of these networks taking
- 48:44Speaker 1: chances and trying to come up with the next Peacock,
- 48:48Speaker 1: you know, the next Unicorn announcer person that yeah has it. Yeah,
- 48:53Speaker 1: I mean it's a little bit of personality, it's a
- 48:55Speaker 1: I mean I think there's definitely a higher level of
- 48:56Speaker 1: football understanding too. So I mean I think that's why
- 48:59Speaker 1: Romo popped a little bit, because I think general fans
- 49:01Speaker 1: have gotten smarter as just everything's cotton and gotten bigger.
- 49:05Speaker 1: He was different in the way he would call out
- 49:06Speaker 1: plays before they happen, you know, shows that like he's
- 49:10Speaker 1: done this before, and I wonder, like, could Brady even
- 49:13Speaker 1: take that to the next level, you know, because he
- 49:16Speaker 1: does have an amazing like his strength was getting to
- 49:20Speaker 1: the line of scrimmage and knowing what he's looking at
- 49:23Speaker 1: and what I should call, you know, call this play
- 49:25Speaker 1: into to match up to what the defense is showing me. Yeah. Well,
- 49:31Speaker 1: I was just gonna say it's gonna be I'm intrigued
- 49:34Speaker 1: to see how he does it because I'm so used
- 49:36Speaker 1: to sitting in you know, Tom Brady press conference, oh yeah,
- 49:41Speaker 1: and hearing him talk in like if he does that,
- 49:44Speaker 1: forget it right, he's done so, and as Paul said before,
- 49:47Speaker 1: like I haven't seen him do it, so I don't
- 49:49Speaker 1: know how good he's gonna be. Like is he gonna
- 49:50Speaker 1: get behind the microphone and say, well, yeah, all these
- 49:52Speaker 1: guys are really great, Like that's not gonna that's not
- 49:55Speaker 1: gonna cut it. Or is he gonna be like the
- 49:57Speaker 1: Tom who sits down and watches the game and home
- 50:00Speaker 1: and it's like, you know, emotional and passionate and yelling
- 50:04Speaker 1: that guy, you know, that guy down on the field
- 50:06Speaker 1: he should have stretched. Yeah, it's not stretching water. But
- 50:09Speaker 1: that's what I think with Romo at least, like he's
- 50:11Speaker 1: just a likable guy and he has something that I
- 50:14Speaker 1: don't know just Brady, I've never seen that, like likable
- 50:18Speaker 1: normal every day. I mean, he's Tom Brady, Like, so
- 50:20Speaker 1: can he open up and be that kind of guy
- 50:23Speaker 1: that's accessible? Yeah, like every once in a while when
- 50:25Speaker 1: he gets I don't when you get the mic up
- 50:26Speaker 1: miked up and Brady's on the sideline and you hear
- 50:28Speaker 1: him like explode at like one of his teammates or
- 50:31Speaker 1: like the offense as a whole, Like that's the kind
- 50:34Speaker 1: of passion. You want to see him bring to the
- 50:36Speaker 1: announcement with not to be swearing or yelling at people,
- 50:38Speaker 1: but like, oh, I would like that. I know that'd
- 50:40Speaker 1: be fun, but I want to see that kind of analysis.
- 50:43Speaker 1: Like I don't want him to be generic, boring. I
- 50:45Speaker 1: want to be in mister nice guy to everybody, because
- 50:47Speaker 1: I think that's a problem some players. They don't want
- 50:52Speaker 1: to criticize, whereas somebody likes best. I think made a
- 50:57Speaker 1: point to go out of his way to be ultra
- 50:59Speaker 1: critical his first year out because I think he was
- 51:01Speaker 1: aware of the pitfalls that other former players had when
- 51:04Speaker 1: they made the jump to broadcasting. And I think one
- 51:08Speaker 1: of the reasons why he appealed to so many people
- 51:10Speaker 1: was because he was so critical. Especially if this wouldn't
- 51:13Speaker 1: mind seeing Rodney do it, I'd like to hear him
- 51:15Speaker 1: do it. Yeah. Um, so additional information has come to light.
- 51:19Speaker 1: Fred Matt Morrell just gave me. I think your prediction
- 51:22Speaker 1: that he will never do this is not gonna happen. Really.
- 51:25Speaker 1: You know, he signed a ten year deal for three
- 51:27Speaker 1: seventy five what million over Twitter right now. Matt. Matt
- 51:35Speaker 1: just told me, as I will walk through the it's
- 51:37Speaker 1: more than he ever made as a quarterback the studio.
- 51:40Speaker 1: He realized that three seventy five. That's what's making the round.
- 51:45Speaker 1: It doesn't mean that's accurate, but that's what's on Twitter, now,
- 51:48Speaker 1: can you probably right? That's also Romo had What was
- 51:53Speaker 1: Romo's deal? Was it thirty million for Romo twenty or
- 51:56Speaker 1: thirty million for Romo? Isn't that insane to pay him?
- 52:00Speaker 1: That's always you're seventeen and a half. Oh wow, all
- 52:06Speaker 1: that other things? He must be doing a lot of
- 52:08Speaker 1: other things besides the games twice. I mean, yeah, that's
- 52:12Speaker 1: double basically, well cow, yeah, there you go. Maybe it's
- 52:16Speaker 1: just about money, all right. Well with that, I have
- 52:20Speaker 1: to I mean, that's that's different money. That's that's ridiculous.
- 52:22Speaker 1: I have to take a break and reassess my life.

- 1:02:36Speaker 1: wordle eric, I don't know. I've never done it, So
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: then why are you so dismissive. I'm not so dismissive
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: you about five minutes later, why do you think they
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: chose five letter words that the most common number of
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: don't English language? I don't know. I don't know, but
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: it's uh, that would be. It's always maddening when they
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: use a letter twice. Yeah, I don't like that. I
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: don't like that. I think they did. They did that today,
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: they did well. Like if you pick a letter, you
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: to explain all the rules. If you're interested, go find out,
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: like for example, like if it was because you were

- 1:03:09Speaker 1: it a little bit, just a little bit just a
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: little bit. That's another great moment from all right back
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: here in Patriots unfiltered eight five five. Pat's five hundred
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: is the ace ticket hut line web radio at Patriots
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: dot com is the email address. Uh. Eric writes in
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: from Amherstburgh, Calm Downs, Amhurst, Bergville. No, it's just Amhurst
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: b Township, Township. Uh. He says he calmed down since
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: the draft. Haha. Still not happy though. Speaking of Romo,
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: I love the deep dive in terminology because then I
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: see what he's seeing. If I'm just watching without without
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: there is stuff I missed because I'm not looking for it. Specifically,
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: have a great day. So he likes Romo, Yeah, I
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: think people are ready for a little bit of increase.
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: I know a lot of people love him and think
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: he's the greatest ever. I just think he's another in
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: the long line of guys that do that and they're
- 1:04:09Speaker 1: out of question. Yeah, he's plus five. He doesn't drive
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: me nuts, I've said for though, I usually tune them out.
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: Some of them are obnoxious, like they you know, like
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: did we hear? Like brock Heward do a game? He does?
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: He does some games though he was a college mostly
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: college but I think he has sort of done like
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: you know, those late season of window games. Yeah, you'll
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: hear him a Saturday game, I'll tell you. And I
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: know it shouldn't matter, like the caliber of player a
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: guy was, but it's one thing if like Troy Aikman,
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: a Hall of Fame or three times Super Bowl champ
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: is telling me something. I mean, the guy who's like
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: a third stringer and Bailey in the league so condescending
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: the way he speaks, just I don't know, it bugs me,
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: and that kind of like I mean, I wish I
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: was a third string hack NFL backup quarterback. Believe me.
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: What do you think of Tim Hasselbeck. I think he's excellent,
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: not Matt Hasselbeck. I think both of them are excellent. Yeah,
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: Dan Orlosky there's another like k too. Yeah, because I
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: was gonna say, those are guys who like Tim, Well,
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: Matt was a starter, but Tim was kind of like Tim,
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: just like brock Huity was sort of a jag third
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: string quarterback and Orlowski kind of the same thing. Yeah,
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: but Lowski ran out of the end zone, which is
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: like you know, punch light now, but like he was
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: a good quarterback to get to him. You gotta be
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: pretty good. Yeah, you ran out of I don't need
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: to hear what you have to say. You ran out
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: of the end zone. More on h when they were
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: playing the clip coming back, and even when when you
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: said it now I remember when you said it. Then
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: I still thought you were going to do it like
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: you know, you know, you go find out like I
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: thought it was gonna be something else that begins with
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: any rhymes with luck on. We'll talking about whortle. It
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: doesn't rise, you'll go find out. It doesn't rise to
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: the level of yourself. Go you go find out yourself.
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: Go look it up in your funking wagons. Although I
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: have been playing quartal, which is four wordles at a time,
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: because they can somehow you know, times ain't. But then
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: Stripper sent me a thing. It's called extupple or something
- 1:06:01Speaker 1: that's sixteen at a time. That too too many. There
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: aren't that many words, right, Parties Party sent Mike and
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: I what is it called framed framed frame something frame? Yeah,
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: and it's like scenes from movies. So Party sent it
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: to us. I know it was one of two movies.
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: We're two movie franchises. I'm like, well, it's got to
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: be Jaws with a Godfather and I'm an idiot. Took
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: me like four. It's like name they out like two.
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: It's like name that tune from movies? Right, yeah? Yeah,
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: so they show you, you know, one frame. The answer
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: to the one he sent us was, in fact, Godfather Too.
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: My first guest was Godfather one, but it was Godfather too.
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: Have you ever seen Godfather Too? Yeah, yeah you have.
- 1:06:34Speaker 1: Who are you talking to you? Because I haven't seen three.
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: We haven't seen to be honest, I didn't think on
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: the Godfather. Yeah yeah, yeah, just not enough to quote,
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: like you guys like a pull out a random scene
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: from our three Godfather Too, and I don't remember that part.
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: But to be seen severance yet. No, no, we we
- 1:06:52Speaker 1: started watching the Staircase. I watched the first three watched Staircase.
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: That's all that's out, I think right now. That's all
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: that's out right now. And uh yeah, still work on
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: my our way through the end. It's a true crime. Yeah,
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: a woman fell down the stairs and her husband kids,
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: and it's kind of a Brady Bunch situation where they've
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: got their mixed family, they've got a couple adopted kids.
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: They each had a kid, um and the mom. The
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: mom apparently fell down the stairs and it's a true
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: crime that that really happened. And they also made a
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: documentary about it, so a lot going on, lot going on.
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: I was very confused by that. So they had a
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: documentary done on this Nelson back it was like the
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: early two thousand, it's like a one or something like that,
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: and they had this French documentary company coming and they
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: filmed it. And I'm watching the show that's on now
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: and I'm like, why would you do that? I'm like, well,
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: that happened. That's that's why it's like a recreation, and
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: that really happened. They had a documentary crew in the
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: house with them while their family is ostensible completely falling apart,
- 1:07:53Speaker 1: and like the kids like take sides and wow. So
- 1:07:57Speaker 1: so the movie actually includes the documentary and then but
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: and then that said documentary actually does exist. Yeah, you
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: could go. That came out in the goldcumentary. I read
- 1:08:06Speaker 1: a little bit about it after I was star confused. Right,
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: it's so hard with the true crime stuff where you're
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: like I can google it right now and find out
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: it's gonna happen. So I I dabbled a little bit,
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: dabbled a little bit forward, but a lot, a lot
- 1:08:17Speaker 1: of moving parts in her all right. Colin Firth is
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: the dad. Yeah, Michael petersycle and then Tony Collette players
- 1:08:26Speaker 1: the other accountable, the wife who rolls the unfortunately join end.
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: It also happened and I can't get up. It happened
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: um to his previous wife in a similar fashion. She
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: fell down the stairs. Incident fighter stairs, like in Germany
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: or something. Yeah, yeah, it's it's a lot of well
- 1:08:45Speaker 1: known modus opera. And then they find out he is
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: as well, and then like having affairs with men on
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: the side. So there's a lot, a lot, there's a
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: lot going on. He's yeah, right, right is the oldest. Yeah,
- 1:08:58Speaker 1: Parker Posey's in it. Uh. There's a lot of you know,
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: sort of names in the in the cast. It's pretty
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: good and golden talking about Golden Age of content, Lots
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: of content, lots of content. Fretty Web Radio eight five
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: five past five hundred Web radio at Patriots dot com.
- 1:09:17Speaker 1: Let's go to Patty and agawam. What's up, Patty? What's up? Guys?
- 1:09:23Speaker 1: One year opinion? What is the better movie? Got Father? One?
- 1:09:26Speaker 1: Got five the part two. I'd say, yeah, probably liked
- 1:09:30Speaker 1: one better, but a lot of people disagree. Two is
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: a by far the best sequel. I think, oh yeah,
- 1:09:37Speaker 1: that an empire strikes back down. Two sequels that I
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: think are above and beyond old others. Yeah, I'll throw
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: another sequel out. Okay, I thought was better than the
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: first movie, Terminator two. I haven't seen that enough to
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: make a judgment. I think I think I think Godfather
- 1:09:55Speaker 1: terminated to our examples of movies that they did it
- 1:09:58Speaker 1: the first time, and they kind of learned from it,
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: and then you know, um, cinematic techniques got better, like
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: you know, special effects, and I think, you know, the
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: other movie took advantage of those advances. Yeah, Aliens too.
- 1:10:11Speaker 1: I throw in there a second ones better, not better.
- 1:10:14Speaker 1: I know, those are but two different movies. Yeah, you know, Yeah,
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: and my favorite line of god Father, yeah with Jackie Mason.
- 1:10:24Speaker 1: With a third one, that's probably the the example of
- 1:10:30Speaker 1: the best movie with the worst sequel. Okay, here's a
- 1:10:33Speaker 1: tough way, were even worse than Jaws. Here's a tough one.
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: This is a deep dive. Name a movie franchise where
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: the third sequel was better than the second sequel Who
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: Third better than see I'm out on this because I'm
- 1:10:45Speaker 1: not really a big franchise guy. Yeah, um, Harry Potter, Okay,
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: I'll take your word for it. Okay, Yeah, that's actually
- 1:10:54Speaker 1: that's a good one, Patty. I think that's a good one.
- 1:10:57Speaker 1: I would say Indiana Jones the third one, it was better.
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: The second one was terrible. Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: yeah yeah the third one was last because yeah, yeah
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: that was good. Yeah, that was good. I mean I
- 1:11:15Speaker 1: probably go Friday the Thirteenth Part four over two and three,
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: but that's just me. Yeah. Three three was three D,
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: so that was pretty pretty bad. That was just for
- 1:11:26Speaker 1: two three, right, Danni's quaid. Yeah, all right, thanks, Patty,
- 1:11:32Speaker 1: Little movie Us departure thirds better than the second. Yeah,
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: there are, there are very few. There are. If the
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: seconds bad, then it's rare that the third can be better.
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: I think you can find more TV series three. Yeah,
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: Rocky three was better than Rocky two. Okay yeah, actually
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: yeah is that clever lang? Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, that
- 1:11:55Speaker 1: was because two was kind of a rehairing. Yeah, a
- 1:11:58Speaker 1: rematch read it was four. It was like the whole
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: time that she was in the coma. Yeah, right, Although
- 1:12:03Speaker 1: the moment when she wakes up and she's like when
- 1:12:07Speaker 1: and the music came up, why don't we waiting waiting for?
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: I got chills every time on that that every single
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: exaim with that that movie. That part is that gets me.
- 1:12:15Speaker 1: But then he's like chasing the checking around and you're like,
- 1:12:17Speaker 1: what the hell's going on? Speed the fight right man?
- 1:12:20Speaker 1: But when he goes back to Apollo in three, I
- 1:12:22Speaker 1: mean that's you know that that Rocky was better than Rocky. Yes, yes,
- 1:12:28Speaker 1: that's a good call. It goes three four, three, three
- 1:12:31Speaker 1: better than four fours bad. It's one, three, two, then four,
- 1:12:38Speaker 1: I would say six, the whole matrix going five five,
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: Then you got to include the how long we going? Well?
- 1:12:44Speaker 1: But then you go, I don't have to include the Creeds,
- 1:12:47Speaker 1: but you have to creed. The Creeds are excellent. That's
- 1:12:50Speaker 1: part of the whole saga. Did you see the Creeds? Now? Oh? Really?
- 1:12:53Speaker 1: I heard they were good. And our restaurant is I'm
- 1:12:57Speaker 1: not dismissing Freddy. Our restaurant is out there. Yes, yeah,
- 1:13:01Speaker 1: Cafe Victoria. It's not what it's called. But yes, I
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: thought he had it right now. He did not. He
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: did not. But that's why I had the race. That's
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: that's going. How do we not go there? When we
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: were infilly this summer, I asked, I had the reservation.
- 1:13:15Speaker 1: You guys don't want to go because some people were
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: drinking out on the end and in the sun and
- 1:13:20Speaker 1: the blazing sun. It's not a fast food charge because
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: they could just walk in. But you can imagine, you
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: could imagine. No, That's why I asked, perfectly plausible scenario
- 1:13:37Speaker 1: right there exactly. But Matt Morrell did his best to
- 1:13:40Speaker 1: get me out to dinner that night. He tried, oh yeah, hey,
- 1:13:44Speaker 1: you face your face planet and make up at like
- 1:13:45Speaker 1: two in the morning. He sent me several times and
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: called as well, and that's like, yeah, guy, I didn't
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: get gonna want that hat. It was like it was
- 1:13:52Speaker 1: like ten thirty by the time I was in any shape.
- 1:13:55Speaker 1: We had. We had the front desk one wonder and
- 1:13:57Speaker 1: wondering what what happened to Paul? That was fine. This
- 1:14:02Speaker 1: is why the preseason schedule. I just needed a nap,
- 1:14:05Speaker 1: all right. Back to the emails Web Radio, Patriots dot Com,
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: Dave and Bethlehem, it appears that matc grow had influence
- 1:14:13Speaker 1: in the twenty twenty two draft. The RAS index. Yeah,
- 1:14:17Speaker 1: the relative Athletics Score index seems to have been an
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: evaluation metric used by many one, especially on guards. Has
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: anyone done a retrospective analysis of past drafts of players
- 1:14:28Speaker 1: with high with high RAS scores to see how they did? Mike? No, Paul,
- 1:14:33Speaker 1: did you do that? No? No? And two? Next great debate?
- 1:14:38Speaker 1: Who makes the best hot dog? My own opinion after
- 1:14:40Speaker 1: years of clinical trials? Hoffman? I've never had a Hoffman
- 1:14:44Speaker 1: hot dog. Well, you're the expert, friend, I mean, yeah,
- 1:14:47Speaker 1: I meant to buy in a store it's Hebrew National. Yeah,
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: until we get at the trader Joe's um. But like,
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: if you're gonna go to a stand, I like Nathan's
- 1:14:56Speaker 1: makes a good dog style. If you're going for speed,
- 1:15:00Speaker 1: you boil it. But if you're going for taste, you
- 1:15:02Speaker 1: fry it with butter, cut it in half, and you guys,
- 1:15:07Speaker 1: you cut your slices. You cut your slices, and you
- 1:15:09Speaker 1: put it in your fry pan and you put a
- 1:15:11Speaker 1: little butter in it. I have never heard of that. Oh, yeah,
- 1:15:14Speaker 1: it's very good, Bryan, it's very good. I still like
- 1:15:17Speaker 1: I was gonna say, what about the grill? Friends? Because
- 1:15:21Speaker 1: you also you also put the bun in frying pan
- 1:15:24Speaker 1: on the butter, you get crisp. He's right, friend's right, yeah,
- 1:15:28Speaker 1: he knows, he knows. That's like five guys though, right,
- 1:15:30Speaker 1: like you cut the hot dog in the middle of well,
- 1:15:32Speaker 1: they have the bigger hot dogs. They cut them in half.
- 1:15:34Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, length likewise, yeah, they put cams are good
- 1:15:40Speaker 1: hot Yeah, it's not bad, Ben Way, Frank's yeah, a
- 1:15:44Speaker 1: little bit. There's a lot of fat in those, I
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: mean really fatty. Really, I think I think you gotta
- 1:15:50Speaker 1: get the lean in the score. They're the most expensive,
- 1:15:54Speaker 1: obviously because I like them. But but but Hebrew National
- 1:15:57Speaker 1: I think, you know, they have a crunch than the
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: sometimes I can't do that m other than the butcher,
- 1:16:03Speaker 1: you know. But I think Hebrew National in the best packaged.
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: But I've never had Hoffman, so that might even be better.
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: Think I've ever seen it. Yeah, I don't think they're
- 1:16:12Speaker 1: sold up here. Only in Bethlehem. Yeah, okay, maybe maybe
- 1:16:17Speaker 1: that's Pennsylvania though. Oh Jesus, I have a crush on him. Hey, sus,
- 1:16:23Speaker 1: A crash, a crash, it's a Nativity scene. You're done.
- 1:16:30Speaker 1: You don't like that, Paul that was good exact um
- 1:16:34Speaker 1: speedwrite saying great things happen when you speak over one
- 1:16:37Speaker 1: another or the callers. There's occasional brilliance buried in there.
- 1:16:41Speaker 1: Last show, while interrupting the caller from Idaho, Fred confused
- 1:16:45Speaker 1: east and West, giving us the gem of a line.
- 1:16:47Speaker 1: I have dyslexia. Uh. We've been talking about how badly
- 1:16:52Speaker 1: the Patriots need to string good drafts together. I'm all
- 1:16:55Speaker 1: for wait and see, but if this ends up being
- 1:16:58Speaker 1: a bad class, there will be enough time and opportunity
- 1:17:01Speaker 1: in the remainder of the Belichick era to rebuild effectively
- 1:17:04Speaker 1: enough for a Super Bowl. Oh it's a question will
- 1:17:07Speaker 1: there be enough time if this is a bad draft
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: in his window to rebuild for a super Bowl? Or
- 1:17:14Speaker 1: I need to know what mac Jones does? Yeah, yeah, right.
- 1:17:18Speaker 1: If mac Jones turns out to be a really good quarterback,
- 1:17:22Speaker 1: then you can rebuild in a year. Yeah, because he'll
- 1:17:24Speaker 1: make up for those And I don't care what year
- 1:17:26Speaker 1: it is, right, But it doesn't need to be like
- 1:17:28Speaker 1: three good drafts in a row. If you have a
- 1:17:30Speaker 1: good draft and bringing good players and you have a
- 1:17:32Speaker 1: good quarterback, you're a contender, especially with Bill as your coach. Yeah,
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: I think, Yeah, I still have a hard time seeing
- 1:17:38Speaker 1: it if they if they whiff on this draft. I mean,
- 1:17:40Speaker 1: I think you need at least, you know, three players,
- 1:17:42Speaker 1: three players to come in and contribute and be solid.
- 1:17:44Speaker 1: And I mean I think even you need some of
- 1:17:47Speaker 1: those low round guys to surprise you. You know, I
- 1:17:50Speaker 1: think I think a guy Sam Roberts, you know, the
- 1:17:53Speaker 1: right tackle that they got Stubord, like one of those
- 1:17:55Speaker 1: guys need to maybe pop out of nowhere. I'll throw
- 1:17:58Speaker 1: this out there, you know, kind of if there is
- 1:18:01Speaker 1: a sense of urgency on the team, right they need
- 1:18:03Speaker 1: to get back, it should be you know. Yeah, do
- 1:18:06Speaker 1: you think that there's any more pressure to play these
- 1:18:09Speaker 1: young guys this year? Like we argued about it in
- 1:18:12Speaker 1: the past, like the guys that they drafted this year.
- 1:18:14Speaker 1: Do you think that though other than strange, he'll play.
- 1:18:18Speaker 1: That's interesting. But will they which mentality wins out right?
- 1:18:22Speaker 1: Will they play more than they usually would because like
- 1:18:25Speaker 1: you're saying, Thornton won't even see the field, you know,
- 1:18:28Speaker 1: but I think there's a chance that there could be
- 1:18:31Speaker 1: a transaction at the position and then that would open
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: up a spot. Okay, but if everybody stays, I don't
- 1:18:35Speaker 1: think he's gonna play much, right, unless he's far and
- 1:18:38Speaker 1: away the best receiver out there or one of the best. Yeah,
- 1:18:41Speaker 1: because at at receiver, there's also the pressure to make
- 1:18:45Speaker 1: sure that these guys that you paid last year born
- 1:18:47Speaker 1: in Agalore earning their keys. I don't think there's pressure
- 1:18:51Speaker 1: in terms of winning on playing young guys. There's pressure
- 1:18:56Speaker 1: to have a good draft to prove that pick the
- 1:18:58Speaker 1: right guys. But if it's to be like, hey, if
- 1:19:01Speaker 1: I don't win, this could be it, then I think
- 1:19:03Speaker 1: you need to see more of the same, like a
- 1:19:05Speaker 1: reluctance to play young guys right, because I don't think
- 1:19:08Speaker 1: he thinks young guys help you win. I'm trying. I'm
- 1:19:10Speaker 1: trying to find like specific examples on the roster, but
- 1:19:13Speaker 1: I mean the one that just jumps to mind is like,
- 1:19:15Speaker 1: you know, Trent Brown, if he starts getting dinged up
- 1:19:18Speaker 1: to make a move to you know, I don't know,
- 1:19:20Speaker 1: could just or stubor or Will Sherman or one of
- 1:19:24Speaker 1: these younger guys with the future kind of in mind,
- 1:19:26Speaker 1: that's because he got hurt. Yeah, Yeah, like you're not
- 1:19:29Speaker 1: gonna bench Trent Brown. Receivers get hurt the door needs
- 1:19:33Speaker 1: to open. The door needs to open a little bit.
- 1:19:35Speaker 1: And and I'm having trouble seeing a spot where if
- 1:19:38Speaker 1: we could just I mean it would be on the
- 1:19:40Speaker 1: defensive line. I mean that would be like if you
- 1:19:42Speaker 1: had somebody really believed in well, could Sam Roberts beat
- 1:19:45Speaker 1: out Godcha? And and it will see about the Jones
- 1:19:47Speaker 1: boys too, they might be able to cover because they
- 1:19:50Speaker 1: don't have any cornerbacks. I know there's a number of names,
- 1:19:53Speaker 1: but there were there were no answers. There are a
- 1:19:56Speaker 1: lot of names and no answers. So I think there's
- 1:19:58Speaker 1: gonna be opportunity for both je Jones and Marcus Jones
- 1:20:01Speaker 1: to play in the secondary. So I don't know how
- 1:20:05Speaker 1: that will work out. There's a lot of practices and stuff,
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: you know. You know, is Sean Wade ahead of those guys?
- 1:20:13Speaker 1: Is Joan Williams ahead of those guys? I don't think so? Right, right,
- 1:20:18Speaker 1: the one the one thing and again it's another guy
- 1:20:21Speaker 1: just wrote a profile on Pierre Strong, right. You know
- 1:20:24Speaker 1: when we talked last week, Um, I think Alex wrote
- 1:20:28Speaker 1: a story on James White, and White had talked about
- 1:20:31Speaker 1: he had yet, um he had yet to really get
- 1:20:36Speaker 1: going ramping up his his workouts because it's the lingering
- 1:20:39Speaker 1: effects of the hippo if he if he's not ready
- 1:20:42Speaker 1: to go, If James White isn't quote the guy at
- 1:20:45Speaker 1: that third down back, Pierre Strong is a candidate to
- 1:20:48Speaker 1: do that. I think, you know, based on based on
- 1:20:52Speaker 1: some of the skill set that he has. Um talked
- 1:20:54Speaker 1: to his college coach a little bit again. I know
- 1:20:56Speaker 1: we're getting the really homogenized version of the player from
- 1:21:00Speaker 1: a college coach. Very few of them are going to
- 1:21:02Speaker 1: say anything negative, but he said that he is more
- 1:21:05Speaker 1: than capable of filling that role immediately. Has the skill set,
- 1:21:09Speaker 1: has the hands, has the route running ability, and most importantly,
- 1:21:13Speaker 1: has the past protection abilities, something he struggled at early
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: on in his time at South Dakota State and improve
- 1:21:19Speaker 1: significantly at when he was challenged about it. So he
- 1:21:23Speaker 1: thought that that was something that he could get a
- 1:21:25Speaker 1: niche right away. And I think if James White is
- 1:21:28Speaker 1: compromised physically, it's an opportunity for Pierre is Strong to
- 1:21:31Speaker 1: play those other spots that you're talking about. We're talking
- 1:21:33Speaker 1: about three or four guys ahead, you know on the
- 1:21:37Speaker 1: depth chart, you know, like Isaiah Win and Trent Brown.
- 1:21:40Speaker 1: If they're healthy, They're going to be the tackles right right,
- 1:21:44Speaker 1: you know Cole Strange will play because they don't have
- 1:21:46Speaker 1: a guard. But right I think the corners are the
- 1:21:50Speaker 1: next ones there because I think it's Jalen Mills and
- 1:21:52Speaker 1: Jonathan Jones. And I can make an argument right now
- 1:21:55Speaker 1: that if these two guys work out there better than them. Yea.
- 1:22:00Speaker 1: I was just related to you know, the linebackers. How
- 1:22:02Speaker 1: does that play out? Like who starts? And if you
- 1:22:04Speaker 1: don't have if you're not getting the production from those guys,
- 1:22:06Speaker 1: where do you go Joan Bentley and Mac Wilson. Well
- 1:22:10Speaker 1: those are your two starting yeah. Uh, Paul and London
- 1:22:14Speaker 1: writes in a long time no email, Another great draft
- 1:22:17Speaker 1: weekend on the books, but unfortunately no box jumping or
- 1:22:21Speaker 1: any other games unlike past years. What do we do
- 1:22:24Speaker 1: boxf Andy? Andy was challenging hard. Yeah, remember that had
- 1:22:28Speaker 1: push up contests. He was doing box jumps in the studio.
- 1:22:31Speaker 1: He put a chair we used to have those like
- 1:22:34Speaker 1: those bars bar stool height chairs, and he was uh
- 1:22:39Speaker 1: challenging me and Fred to to box jump them. And
- 1:22:42Speaker 1: he almost put his head through the ceiling because the
- 1:22:44Speaker 1: thing was thinking all this energy he was younger than well,
- 1:22:47Speaker 1: Fred brings into five hour. Wow. He for the first hour,
- 1:22:50Speaker 1: and then it's the epitome of like the twelve year
- 1:22:54Speaker 1: old kid who gets all jacked up on Mountain dew Right,
- 1:22:58Speaker 1: and then he sits in the corner first round. Then
- 1:22:59Speaker 1: the first rounds over and it's like, I've watched interest,
- 1:23:03Speaker 1: yet he eat sound or whatever. Paul says. I'm not
- 1:23:08Speaker 1: defending the draft Paul size here, but but there was
- 1:23:11Speaker 1: a point being made pre draft that this would be
- 1:23:14Speaker 1: a weird draft where every team has different values in
- 1:23:17Speaker 1: the top one hundred. Maybe the experts were wrong, maybe
- 1:23:20Speaker 1: they were right, But how much does Belichick take into
- 1:23:24Speaker 1: account other teams projected selections when making his own, especially
- 1:23:28Speaker 1: with trades down. I think there's some of that. I mean,
- 1:23:31Speaker 1: they moved out of that, they moved up because probably
- 1:23:34Speaker 1: they thought, you know, reportedly Pittsburgh was interested in Thornton,
- 1:23:38Speaker 1: you know, I think there's a lot of that. Yeah,
- 1:23:39Speaker 1: I've seen a lot of that speculation, and I mean
- 1:23:41Speaker 1: they should, you know, especially when you might have a
- 1:23:43Speaker 1: guy ranked higher than everybody else, like to be aware
- 1:23:47Speaker 1: of that could could give you opportunities. But I don't know.
- 1:23:50Speaker 1: I think retroactively, you can just debate where guys could
- 1:23:53Speaker 1: and should have gone. And you know, everybody's kind of
- 1:23:56Speaker 1: made peace with it. Now let's just see if they
- 1:23:57Speaker 1: can play. And we won't know that, but just you know,
- 1:24:00Speaker 1: the one comment that I would make is, you know,
- 1:24:02Speaker 1: the experts all said that this should be an unpredictable draft,
- 1:24:04Speaker 1: and it turned out really not to be. It turned
- 1:24:07Speaker 1: out to be a lot of the so called experts
- 1:24:11Speaker 1: had most of the players in the top hundred where
- 1:24:15Speaker 1: they went. You know, I had to Bob McGinn one
- 1:24:17Speaker 1: that night. I think he was like ninety four out
- 1:24:19Speaker 1: of one hundred. Yeah, something silly like that. Um, you know,
- 1:24:23Speaker 1: we're taken. Hey, Matt Morale. Um, somebody said that there's like, uh, oh,
- 1:24:28Speaker 1: is it okay? It's more better? Is that AGAs press
- 1:24:31Speaker 1: conference in the background or something like that? Hell Nelly, Yeah,
- 1:24:35Speaker 1: talk over. You know. I did do getting ready to
- 1:24:37Speaker 1: write something on whatever it is that he's saying right now,
- 1:24:40Speaker 1: but just whatever it is he's saying, look, but no,
- 1:24:45Speaker 1: I I went back and looked at PF. My favorite
- 1:24:48Speaker 1: thing about PFF tell you where guys play, And you know,
- 1:24:51Speaker 1: his best seasons he was primarily in the slot in Philly.
- 1:24:56Speaker 1: Those were his most productive seasons four catches a game,
- 1:24:59Speaker 1: you know, eight and nineteen or sorry, seventeen and eighteen,
- 1:25:03Speaker 1: and last season was really kind of unique for him.
- 1:25:06Speaker 1: Early on he did play mostly on the outside, but
- 1:25:08Speaker 1: he was just almost completely an outside receiver last year.
- 1:25:12Speaker 1: And with so much pre draft discussion about slot receiver
- 1:25:16Speaker 1: and could they draft a guy like Kyle Phillips or
- 1:25:18Speaker 1: Metchi or somebody like that to come in, I wonder
- 1:25:21Speaker 1: if with Parker and with Thornton, we have true outside
- 1:25:25Speaker 1: speed kind of guys. Maybe not speed for Parker, but
- 1:25:29Speaker 1: true outside guys. If that's part of maybe getting more
- 1:25:33Speaker 1: production out of Agalore is to move him around a
- 1:25:35Speaker 1: little more, use him out of the slot. I mean,
- 1:25:36Speaker 1: it's just you know, you look at his best years
- 1:25:38Speaker 1: and when he was consistently productive, specifically those two and
- 1:25:42Speaker 1: especially with Patriots on the Super Bowl that was a
- 1:25:43Speaker 1: you know, really productive game for him out of the slot.
- 1:25:47Speaker 1: You know. I just I wonder if that if that's
- 1:25:48Speaker 1: part of the answer, is bringing him inside a little
- 1:25:51Speaker 1: bit more and letting him work in there instead of
- 1:25:53Speaker 1: just leaving him out Number one at that long exposition
- 1:25:56Speaker 1: where it's you know, you're just kind of there to
- 1:25:58Speaker 1: take the top off the defense and you know, catch
- 1:26:00Speaker 1: the occasional comebacks. So I know it's it's it's awkward,
- 1:26:05Speaker 1: um from a financial perspective, But I have a feeling
- 1:26:07Speaker 1: he's not going to be here. I still have a
- 1:26:09Speaker 1: lingering feeling Agalo, yeah, is going to go before the
- 1:26:13Speaker 1: season or figure that out. Yeah. And I don't know
- 1:26:16Speaker 1: exactly how one of those camps I don't know still
- 1:26:18Speaker 1: trade him or you know something. I just I just
- 1:26:22Speaker 1: don't think this room. And I think Mike sort of
- 1:26:26Speaker 1: articulated why. I think they may have sort of upgraded
- 1:26:29Speaker 1: on the outside. And I don't really think that he's
- 1:26:33Speaker 1: an option for the slot full time. I don't think
- 1:26:35Speaker 1: he's I don't think he is ever what they thought
- 1:26:39Speaker 1: he was. Let's put this. I look at his career numbers.
- 1:26:41Speaker 1: He had the one outlier year with the Raiders where
- 1:26:43Speaker 1: he caught a bunch of long bombs. Yeah, that's where
- 1:26:46Speaker 1: he signed here Philadelphia. He was widely considered it's just
- 1:26:49Speaker 1: a disappointment, right, you know, yeah, you guys do the
- 1:26:55Speaker 1: You look at his second year, same kind of play
- 1:26:58Speaker 1: breakdown in terms of plan outside, and he had like
- 1:27:00Speaker 1: the same numbers he had this year, So you know,
- 1:27:02Speaker 1: I just I think if you're looking to get more
- 1:27:04Speaker 1: production on But I agree, I think there's a little
- 1:27:07Speaker 1: bit of a stockpile there that they could move on.
- 1:27:10Speaker 1: But again, the financials, how do they figure it out?
- 1:27:12Speaker 1: What do they Is anybody gonna want him, you know?
- 1:27:17Speaker 1: But I think if you pay some of the salary,
- 1:27:18Speaker 1: you might be able to unload him. Sam duct Tape.
- 1:27:22Speaker 1: Sam writes in from Pleasanton, California, Roberts, who gives a
- 1:27:26Speaker 1: sugar honey and iced tea about Brady working for Fox
- 1:27:30Speaker 1: A shine is definitely off the bubble or the babble,
- 1:27:33Speaker 1: He says, In my opinion, Brady has really lost some
- 1:27:37Speaker 1: integrity in class over the last few years with his decision.
- 1:27:40Speaker 1: I think if I put it back to I can
- 1:27:42Speaker 1: identify it that probably around March of twenty twenty, I
- 1:27:48Speaker 1: think he really lost a lot of hcause decision making,
- 1:27:52Speaker 1: how he's carried himself, He's all over the place. He
- 1:27:54Speaker 1: should just shut the hell up and focus on his
- 1:27:56Speaker 1: current job. I really thought he came into his own
- 1:27:58Speaker 1: in week three of two thousand and one, like he
- 1:28:01Speaker 1: really seemed to like really have it all together and
- 1:28:03Speaker 1: he was a very charitable kind of a guy. And
- 1:28:05Speaker 1: then around March of twenty twenty, I thought he took it.
- 1:28:08Speaker 1: It went into a different direction. I wanted too. I
- 1:28:14Speaker 1: wanted to get some more feedback from Paul regarding his
- 1:28:17Speaker 1: interview with Mayo. That assignment must have been a lot
- 1:28:19Speaker 1: of fun. What can you tell us about Mayo that
- 1:28:22Speaker 1: didn't come across in the interview. He seems like a
- 1:28:24Speaker 1: very even keeled guy. I really wish Belichick would do
- 1:28:27Speaker 1: the right thing and make him our defensive coordinator. Good
- 1:28:30Speaker 1: luck with his son in the way. Second, what kind
- 1:28:32Speaker 1: of access will you guys have to the upcoming rookie minicamp?
- 1:28:36Speaker 1: Looking forward to getting more info? Nothing, we will have none.
- 1:28:40Speaker 1: I think we might have some pictures, friend, Is that right? Yeah? Maybe, Um,
- 1:28:45Speaker 1: we'll have a photog out there. And they're fifty they're
- 1:28:47Speaker 1: fifty numbers that I'm sure fifty one. I thought Paul
- 1:28:53Speaker 1: and Matt did a great job with Mayo. I thought
- 1:28:55Speaker 1: the most interesting thing was just him admitting we got
- 1:28:58Speaker 1: a young group of linebackers and we don't have any
- 1:29:00Speaker 1: veterans now, and we're talking about stuff now that the
- 1:29:01Speaker 1: veterans would be bored silly with. I mean, it just
- 1:29:04Speaker 1: seemed to kind of confirm everything we've been talking about
- 1:29:06Speaker 1: that and I sort of alluded to that during the
- 1:29:08Speaker 1: draft that there was something that Girard had said that
- 1:29:11Speaker 1: made more sense to me when the draft unfolded that
- 1:29:14Speaker 1: they didn't take linebackers, And you know, in retrospect, I
- 1:29:17Speaker 1: don't think that was ever a possibility. I think they
- 1:29:19Speaker 1: felt like they had their young guys they wanted to
- 1:29:21Speaker 1: give a shot to. But in terms of what the
- 1:29:25Speaker 1: emailer asked, I think what you see is what you
- 1:29:27Speaker 1: get with With Girard. I think he's a pretty thoughtful guy.
- 1:29:30Speaker 1: I think that probably came across in his answers. He
- 1:29:32Speaker 1: didn't just give you a cliches. He gave you some
- 1:29:35Speaker 1: thoughtful responses. Really easygoing guy. You guys already knew that.
- 1:29:41Speaker 1: But I don't really think there was any extra insight
- 1:29:43Speaker 1: that didn't come across. We didn't have a lot of
- 1:29:46Speaker 1: time to sort of chit chat, you know, before or
- 1:29:48Speaker 1: after the podcast. He's you know, they're they're in the
- 1:29:51Speaker 1: midst of their preparations and whatnot. So he came down.
- 1:29:54Speaker 1: He gave us a lot of time as it was.
- 1:29:56Speaker 1: I mean, I think that podcast was over forty five minutes.
- 1:29:58Speaker 1: I remember the time that Mail came on this show
- 1:30:00Speaker 1: that that was hilarious. He came on a couple of times. Actually, yeah,
- 1:30:03Speaker 1: he's great. He called me a racist, but he did,
- 1:30:06Speaker 1: Yeah he did. He was only kidding, but really yeah
- 1:30:09Speaker 1: he did. Um No, we had a good time with him.
- 1:30:13Speaker 1: We did. And I think that was the end of
- 1:30:14Speaker 1: the interviews. Too much fun, too much fun. We had
- 1:30:17Speaker 1: him on a couple of times and they were all fun,
- 1:30:19Speaker 1: and they probably said, yeah, Welker and Castle, yeah duo
- 1:30:23Speaker 1: making fun of your Yeah, Seymour at the golf tournament.
- 1:30:26Speaker 1: That's right. I forgot about that. If we could get
- 1:30:31Speaker 1: like modern day Patriots, I'd like to think pretty fun.
- 1:30:34Speaker 1: We had Larry Guy in studio. I'm talking about the anime.
- 1:30:38Speaker 1: Were you here for that? No? Really, no, he doesn't.
- 1:30:42Speaker 1: He's been around for a while. It doesn't like me,
- 1:30:44Speaker 1: Bob and the Umi ever wrote anything that was controversial.
- 1:30:50Speaker 1: In response to Thursday's emailer for new contributors to the show,
- 1:30:53Speaker 1: I'd like to throw my hat into the ring, but
- 1:30:56Speaker 1: I'm going to insist on the cool hot tub nickname,
- 1:31:00Speaker 1: similar to how George Costanza is insisted on being called
- 1:31:02Speaker 1: tebow t bone, and they ended up calling him Coco
- 1:31:07Speaker 1: the monkey Cocoa On to my point. Last week, I
- 1:31:12Speaker 1: emailed in the crazy conspiracy theory that the team aims
- 1:31:15Speaker 1: to move Strange to tackle a hot take that Deuce
- 1:31:18Speaker 1: quickly stole, but one I'll happily co sponsor with him.
- 1:31:22Speaker 1: Then Greg Badard reports a crazier idea that Strange was
- 1:31:26Speaker 1: drafted to make Matt Patricia look good as an old
- 1:31:29Speaker 1: line coach. That's not crazier. Just to make sure I'm
- 1:31:33Speaker 1: not here. As you guys know, I like to take
- 1:31:35Speaker 1: a lot. I like Greg a lot personally, and I
- 1:31:37Speaker 1: take a lot of shots at him, and he generally
- 1:31:40Speaker 1: in general, he laughs back. Sometimes he gets mad. Truth
- 1:31:44Speaker 1: be told. But I don't think that that's an outrageous
- 1:31:48Speaker 1: conspiracy theory, and I don't think it's a conspiracy theory
- 1:31:50Speaker 1: at all. To suggest that he won't play jess guard
- 1:31:53Speaker 1: like Lineman can often play spots. I'd be stunted. A
- 1:31:57Speaker 1: guy who never played tackle plays tackle in the NFL.
- 1:32:00Speaker 1: I mean, a stranger things have happened. Considering the Mason trade,
- 1:32:03Speaker 1: And did you really say that, what did you really
- 1:32:06Speaker 1: suggest that you stole this guy's theory. That's thievery. You
- 1:32:09Speaker 1: should you all here in apologize. I do apologize, and
- 1:32:14Speaker 1: I thought I came up with that my own, but
- 1:32:16Speaker 1: I mean, we just I just threw it out there.
- 1:32:17Speaker 1: I thought I was throwing. I think he has a
- 1:32:18Speaker 1: better chance of playing center than just because of his athleticism.
- 1:32:21Speaker 1: I mean, usually when guys are on the outside, a
- 1:32:23Speaker 1: tackle comes in. Oh he's going to have to move
- 1:32:25Speaker 1: into guards. You know, you don't tackle. I mean, he's
- 1:32:27Speaker 1: bigger than as I win though, that's you know, and
- 1:32:29Speaker 1: he can't play tackle. But you know, speculation. I mean
- 1:32:32Speaker 1: I think people all of a sudden, he's that if
- 1:32:34Speaker 1: he's out there starting a left tackle. You know, in
- 1:32:36Speaker 1: two weeks when we get out there, everyone be like, oh,
- 1:32:38Speaker 1: well that makes sense. I go, first of all, pick
- 1:32:40Speaker 1: on the left tackle, all right, you know, I don't
- 1:32:41Speaker 1: think it's gonna happen, But I apologize for stealing that.
- 1:32:44Speaker 1: I didn't even really. Now you have a guard spot
- 1:32:45Speaker 1: that's open. Yeah. Uh. Considering the Mason trade and the
- 1:32:49Speaker 1: failure to upgrade the two porcelain figurines we have playing tackle,
- 1:32:53Speaker 1: how does drafting a D two rookie guard ensure Patricia
- 1:32:57Speaker 1: will look good. I kind of sort of respect great, great,
- 1:33:00Speaker 1: but Dard's reporting. But like most conspiracy theories, this seems
- 1:33:03Speaker 1: to be the least logical answer to a difficult question.
- 1:33:07Speaker 1: Defer to pull on this? How does I don't think
- 1:33:08Speaker 1: it's how does that? How does that work? You add
- 1:33:11Speaker 1: a first round pick for an offensive lineman when in
- 1:33:13Speaker 1: general you just use like late round picks and undrafted
- 1:33:17Speaker 1: free agents. This you have to say Cole Strange is
- 1:33:20Speaker 1: more talented as an offensive lineman on paper than Michael
- 1:33:23Speaker 1: Will When you, yeah, wouldn't you when one guy got
- 1:33:26Speaker 1: drafted in the first round, one guy got drafted in
- 1:33:28Speaker 1: the sixth or Justin Harun? Yeah, So what do you think,
- 1:33:31Speaker 1: Matt Patricia is better equipped to look good with the
- 1:33:34Speaker 1: first round pick that you can plug in or justin?
- 1:33:37Speaker 1: I see, But another way to just covering up for
- 1:33:40Speaker 1: your lack of coaching by putting a good player there. Oh,
- 1:33:42Speaker 1: I like you, I like better'n we got to use
- 1:33:48Speaker 1: first round picks. I like that better, sneaky. I love
- 1:33:52Speaker 1: what I went over. I love it. I didn't even
- 1:33:54Speaker 1: think of that demented angle. I love it. Deuce good good,
- 1:34:00Speaker 1: Bill writes in about movies. Lethal Weapon four is better
- 1:34:03Speaker 1: than lethal lethal Weapon three, in lethal Weapon two is
- 1:34:06Speaker 1: better than Lethal Weapon one. In fact, lethal Weapon two
- 1:34:10Speaker 1: is the best in the franchise. Also, Diehard four is
- 1:34:13Speaker 1: better than the previous two. I'm not up to I'm
- 1:34:16Speaker 1: not up on a weapon. I know Joe Pesci came
- 1:34:20Speaker 1: in at some point on Lethal Weapon, wasn't he the Yeah,
- 1:34:23Speaker 1: but I get again, Yeah, I don't remember. I didn't
- 1:34:27Speaker 1: seem Okay, I'll take your word for it. Randy says
- 1:34:30Speaker 1: the best way to watch the first two Godfather movies
- 1:34:34Speaker 1: is the Godfather Epic, which is the first two movies
- 1:34:36Speaker 1: in chronological or yeah, seven and a half hours and
- 1:34:40Speaker 1: great deleted scenes. Yeah, the amc AMC used to do that.
- 1:34:44Speaker 1: They used to run that edit. So you'd start with
- 1:34:46Speaker 1: the scene in Sicily when they're having the funeral march
- 1:34:50Speaker 1: to explain where you know, little Vitolini was with his
- 1:34:56Speaker 1: mom and the other one gets killed. Like, they start
- 1:34:58Speaker 1: with that, and they do the whole chronology, you through
- 1:35:00Speaker 1: the years in Sicily and then him getting on the
- 1:35:02Speaker 1: boat and coming to Ellis Island, and so it gives
- 1:35:06Speaker 1: you the story in the order, so it makes a
- 1:35:08Speaker 1: little bit more sense. And says some people just jump
- 1:35:10Speaker 1: in and they're going back and forth and they're like,
- 1:35:12Speaker 1: who's that. I'm surprised the director allows that because it
- 1:35:14Speaker 1: seems like too going back and my vision, Like that's
- 1:35:17Speaker 1: my vision, and you know, I mean it kind of relates.
- 1:35:20Speaker 1: And it's when he did it. Not every single TV
- 1:35:22Speaker 1: show and movie was done that way. Right now, everything
- 1:35:25Speaker 1: is non linear, right right, Yeah, Like it's specially with
- 1:35:28Speaker 1: they think like, yeah, if I do it that way,
- 1:35:31Speaker 1: the viewer has to pay more attention, and you know, yeah,
- 1:35:34Speaker 1: I mean it works. I mean, yeah, it's it's great.
- 1:35:36Speaker 1: That's why I think Godfather Too works so well because
- 1:35:40Speaker 1: you get the you know, you've seen one where one
- 1:35:43Speaker 1: is all about that both ends well you are, well, yeah, sorry,
- 1:35:47Speaker 1: I know you like that, dude, But uh no, Godfather
- 1:35:51Speaker 1: Too is is fantastic. But the the epic, as he
- 1:35:53Speaker 1: put it, is it's a good way to the They
- 1:35:56Speaker 1: don't air it that way. I don't think I've seen that.
- 1:35:58Speaker 1: You can imagine a lot. I'm sure you can put
- 1:36:01Speaker 1: it right scene, Yeah, that made perfect sense to me.
- 1:36:06Speaker 1: The first scene is when you know Veto and his mother,
- 1:36:09Speaker 1: you know that they showed the did they started at
- 1:36:11Speaker 1: the funeral. They start at the funeral march. Yeah, I know,
- 1:36:19Speaker 1: I ain't no band lead. Oh yeah, I heard that story. Uh,
- 1:36:24Speaker 1: Tony writes in I had to write back when I
- 1:36:26Speaker 1: heard the hot dog debate. Best hot dog, hands down
- 1:36:30Speaker 1: is the Kogel Vienna or maybe Google Vienna. I don't know.
- 1:36:33Speaker 1: There's no snap like a good Kogel snap. If you're
- 1:36:37Speaker 1: I can't eat them. If if you're into exotic dogs,
- 1:36:39Speaker 1: try a popper dog, hallapino, cream cheese and a bacon
- 1:36:42Speaker 1: on a hot dog. Now that no, thanks. See it's
- 1:36:47Speaker 1: not a New England thing. But the best way to
- 1:36:50Speaker 1: eat a hot dog is mustard and sour kraut. But
- 1:36:53Speaker 1: nobody eats it that way up here. There's no sour kraut.
- 1:36:56Speaker 1: You can't find sour krowding. You can't get can't get it.
- 1:36:58Speaker 1: I got something, they're all sold. I got some of
- 1:37:00Speaker 1: the Trader Joe's last week, actually the Trader Jos. But
- 1:37:03Speaker 1: that's how that's a mustard and sour krowd on hot dog.
- 1:37:08Speaker 1: I'm with you. I'm with Island hot dogs. And Worcester
- 1:37:10Speaker 1: was a good one in college. Used to go there
- 1:37:11Speaker 1: a lot. Is that technically a brought No, or is
- 1:37:14Speaker 1: that a different it's like a type of sausage. Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:37:19Speaker 1: With Germany, we're probably gonna have to get this all story. Yeah,
- 1:37:21Speaker 1: you probably should get that does before you. It sounds
- 1:37:23Speaker 1: like there's some kind of taste testing opportunities for you
- 1:37:25Speaker 1: with the men. Unto Strass, I'm a little bit more.
- 1:37:29Speaker 1: I'm interested in the in the snap. Yeah, apps, the
- 1:37:32Speaker 1: snap you guys pro or anti the casing. I don't
- 1:37:37Speaker 1: mind the snap. I don't mind it, but I'm a
- 1:37:39Speaker 1: little put off by casing. A little put off. I
- 1:37:41Speaker 1: don't want you like, you know, like snap in your
- 1:37:43Speaker 1: hot dogs. No, I don't want to realize. How are
- 1:37:46Speaker 1: you into the snap? I am Rhode Island. We got
- 1:37:48Speaker 1: soggies in the Delicious system. Is that your? Is that
- 1:37:52Speaker 1: your go to the Soggi's. You've never had the soggy sausage?
- 1:37:54Speaker 1: You don't know from the Saga sausage. It's a hot dog.
- 1:37:57Speaker 1: It's just called soggy sausage. I'm not really sure. I like.
- 1:38:01Speaker 1: Then there's the dirty Ums, Junkyard Dogs, the Junkyard Dogs, Spikes, Jydikes,
- 1:38:11Speaker 1: just regular hot dog place. Yeah, Rhode Island hot dog
- 1:38:13Speaker 1: talk here. So you guys like the hot dogs obviously,
- 1:38:18Speaker 1: you know meat products. You do have veggie hot dogs.
- 1:38:23Speaker 1: Nothing like a hot Wiener though from Onlyville. That's the
- 1:38:25Speaker 1: best system. Turkeysage like the turkeys. No, no, I don't
- 1:38:32Speaker 1: like anything turkey. Man. You should try like anything turkey,
- 1:38:35Speaker 1: like if if you if you're gonna give me a
- 1:38:37Speaker 1: turkey sandwich, okay, but don't replace turkey for other things.
- 1:38:41Speaker 1: I would largely agree with you. A turkey burger is
- 1:38:43Speaker 1: not a burger. No, No, turkey sausage. Surrounded by minded people.
- 1:38:48Speaker 1: Here we do turkey tacos. Turkey tacos, just the ground
- 1:38:53Speaker 1: turkey and put the it's the meat. It's like, try
- 1:38:56Speaker 1: to try to convince yourself it's better for you, which
- 1:38:58Speaker 1: I'm all for, right, because I don't like any think
- 1:39:00Speaker 1: that's good for you, as you know. That's why I
- 1:39:01Speaker 1: look like this, right. M Kevin and Dublin. Mike Reaese
- 1:39:06Speaker 1: wrote that the Patriots drafted four Shrine Bowl players and
- 1:39:11Speaker 1: noted that Eric Galco, the director of football operations for
- 1:39:15Speaker 1: the Shrine Bowl, spoke about the unlimited interviewing time that
- 1:39:18Speaker 1: was available to team execs during the Shrine week. How
- 1:39:22Speaker 1: much importance do you think the Patriots attached to the
- 1:39:24Speaker 1: interview process, and do you think grows four day presents
- 1:39:27Speaker 1: at the Shrine Bowl and the drafting of four Shrine
- 1:39:30Speaker 1: Bowl players is further evidence that Grow has had more
- 1:39:33Speaker 1: influence over drafting this year. My question would be in
- 1:39:38Speaker 1: relation to that, what was the procedure at previous East
- 1:39:41Speaker 1: West Shrine They used to be called game, Now it's
- 1:39:43Speaker 1: called Bowl. I think, well, they always have more access. No,
- 1:39:47Speaker 1: I think it was reorganized and rebranded as the Shrine
- 1:39:50Speaker 1: Game this year, and I think it was the first year, right,
- 1:39:53Speaker 1: so it was kind of under new you know, new management. Yeah,
- 1:39:56Speaker 1: you know. And I'm not positive on that, but that's
- 1:39:58Speaker 1: the way I understood it. Read Mike's piece on that um.
- 1:40:03Speaker 1: But the fact that Grow did spend four days there
- 1:40:06Speaker 1: and they drafted all those guys that played in that game,
- 1:40:08Speaker 1: maybe they felt more comfortable with Yeah, and maybe he
- 1:40:11Speaker 1: did have more than the usual influence. Yeah, you know, Yeah,
- 1:40:15Speaker 1: I don't think that's the case. But I also would
- 1:40:17Speaker 1: say that the guys that were at the Shrine Game
- 1:40:19Speaker 1: were not as talented as the guys who are at
- 1:40:21Speaker 1: the Senior Bowl. That's true, So you take some and
- 1:40:25Speaker 1: give some. I guess I'm just struggling with the word
- 1:40:27Speaker 1: influence because I think it is a jump to go from.
- 1:40:30Speaker 1: I mean, he has a new job, like, I think
- 1:40:32Speaker 1: that he has new responsibilities. I don't know how much
- 1:40:34Speaker 1: influence he has over who they're picking, but I think
- 1:40:37Speaker 1: that he's certainly going about his job his own way
- 1:40:40Speaker 1: and probably you know, spending time at places that I mean.
- 1:40:44Speaker 1: I just I think a lot of these small school
- 1:40:46Speaker 1: picks are are really interesting because they they have gone
- 1:40:49Speaker 1: off the beaten path a little bit with some of
- 1:40:50Speaker 1: these guys. You know, how how is that going to translate?
- 1:40:53Speaker 1: I mean, I think that's That's what I'm curious to
- 1:40:55Speaker 1: see when we get into camp. Did these guys look
- 1:40:56Speaker 1: like they can play at the NFL level. I just
- 1:40:58Speaker 1: like last year they picked Alabama guys in Oklahoma guys
- 1:41:03Speaker 1: at the top first four picks, and everybody's like, this
- 1:41:06Speaker 1: is great. They got through the bill. It's more of
- 1:41:08Speaker 1: a collaborative. They finally convinced him, don't overthink it. Just
- 1:41:11Speaker 1: take the good players from the big schools. Then the
- 1:41:14Speaker 1: next year they take a bunch of one Double A
- 1:41:16Speaker 1: guys and they take four Strine Bowl guys and it's
- 1:41:19Speaker 1: like mac Row clearly has the ange of like, what
- 1:41:22Speaker 1: are we doing? Which is it? Like Bill had nothing
- 1:41:24Speaker 1: to do with last year now he has nothing to
- 1:41:26Speaker 1: do with this year. It was two totally different approaches.
- 1:41:29Speaker 1: I think Bill's in charge. I'm sorry, I think Bill
- 1:41:32Speaker 1: is still in charge, has been, always, will be correct
- 1:41:35Speaker 1: as long as he's here. Johnson writes in Matt from
- 1:41:40Speaker 1: Porter's Lake, Nova, Scotia. Just reflecting on last season, and
- 1:41:43Speaker 1: I'm wondering why Matt Judon's production went down through the
- 1:41:46Speaker 1: final stretch of the season. Was there an injury, scheme
- 1:41:49Speaker 1: change or just more tape for other offenses to pick
- 1:41:52Speaker 1: him up and shut him down. I'd say he's still
- 1:41:55Speaker 1: the core guy who I'm looking for production from this
- 1:41:57Speaker 1: upcoming season. But I'm feeling as if we have one
- 1:42:00Speaker 1: of those meth type defenses. Any of you have that
- 1:42:04Speaker 1: unpromising feeling about our defense. I probably could have that
- 1:42:08Speaker 1: feeling if I let myself do it, But I'm instead
- 1:42:11Speaker 1: choosing to think that Matt Judah will bounce back from
- 1:42:14Speaker 1: how he ended. I don't think there's any question. He
- 1:42:16Speaker 1: just wasn't the same dynamic pass rushing force that he
- 1:42:20Speaker 1: was early on. I'm not sure I'm not sure why.
- 1:42:22Speaker 1: I mean, I think a lot of people have been
- 1:42:23Speaker 1: digging on that trying to figure out injuries or you know,
- 1:42:26Speaker 1: did something catch up with him or I don't know.
- 1:42:29Speaker 1: It's a good question. I think that putting two and
- 1:42:32Speaker 1: two together, and it's dangerous to do it sometimes. But
- 1:42:35Speaker 1: like listening to like that Kyle van Nois thing about
- 1:42:38Speaker 1: freelancing and just getting up field and stuff. I wonder
- 1:42:41Speaker 1: if he played the same in all the games and
- 1:42:44Speaker 1: it caught up to him, and maybe, like the way
- 1:42:47Speaker 1: he played in the second half of the year was
- 1:42:48Speaker 1: like exhibit as to why Bill doesn't want you to
- 1:42:51Speaker 1: do it that way. You know, it was successful in
- 1:42:53Speaker 1: the first half, but maybe it was kind of circumstantial,
- 1:42:57Speaker 1: you know what I mean, Like maybe it was as
- 1:42:59Speaker 1: simple as that. Now, to Matt Judon's credit, he's had
- 1:43:01Speaker 1: several opportunities to tell you I had this, that and
- 1:43:04Speaker 1: the other thing, and he refuses to do it. I
- 1:43:06Speaker 1: like that. Yeah, I like guys that they play for all.
- 1:43:10Speaker 1: I know he did have a significant injury. I don't
- 1:43:12Speaker 1: want to hear about it. Yep, I don't want to
- 1:43:14Speaker 1: hear about it. They had they had no answers on
- 1:43:17Speaker 1: defense too down the stretch, and it's it's easy to
- 1:43:19Speaker 1: call out Judon based on the production he had early
- 1:43:21Speaker 1: in the season, But there wasn't really anybody doing anything,
- 1:43:24Speaker 1: and I don't really think that the game plans were
- 1:43:27Speaker 1: particularly helping them. They didn't really seem on the same
- 1:43:29Speaker 1: page of what to do, and we saw what happened
- 1:43:32Speaker 1: in the last game. Eric's a big soccer fan. Maybe
- 1:43:36Speaker 1: he's heard of this. This is from spill Speed. The
- 1:43:40Speaker 1: French soccer club Leon demoted veteran fullback Marcello to its
- 1:43:45Speaker 1: reserve team earlier this season because of continuous farting in
- 1:43:49Speaker 1: front of the team's manager and sporting director. That's not nice.
- 1:43:53Speaker 1: This combination of the beautiful gage with the expungement of
- 1:43:57Speaker 1: a gassy co worker could be of interest to our
- 1:43:59Speaker 1: reside pu Peacock there. I've never heard of that. That's
- 1:44:04Speaker 1: that's a little bizarre. Yeah, they demoted him for being
- 1:44:07Speaker 1: too flatulent. Yeah, and he was doing it in front
- 1:44:10Speaker 1: of doing it like probably like purposely. Yeah, he obviously
- 1:44:12Speaker 1: was being discuct the Antonio Brown thing with the doctor
- 1:44:15Speaker 1: right right. It sounds like, yeah, he had an issue
- 1:44:19Speaker 1: with this guy and he was and he was taking
- 1:44:21Speaker 1: it out the other end. He was light him up right. Uh.
- 1:44:27Speaker 1: Nick wants to know if we saw the reaction video
- 1:44:29Speaker 1: of Kendrick Bourne. Uh, when the Patris traded in the
- 1:44:33Speaker 1: first round, did you guys see that? Yeah? Yeah, yeah,
- 1:44:35Speaker 1: what do you do? I did not? Oh yeah, disappointed?
- 1:44:39Speaker 1: Yeah yeah? I was born and use everybody. I mean,
- 1:44:44Speaker 1: you know, even if you didn't specifically have like a
- 1:44:46Speaker 1: guy that you wanted him to take, you just wanted
- 1:44:48Speaker 1: to make a big Let's get a guy right now.
- 1:44:51Speaker 1: We gotta wait another twenty minutes. Rode from Saint Louis
- 1:44:55Speaker 1: just on paper, even with all the unknowns on the
- 1:44:57Speaker 1: other teams, how many teams in the AFC? Are the
- 1:45:00Speaker 1: Patriots really better than Houston, Jacksonville and maybe Pittsburgh and
- 1:45:04Speaker 1: the Jets if Watson doesn't play, I would put Cleveland
- 1:45:07Speaker 1: in that maybe group too. Otherwise, every other AFC team
- 1:45:11Speaker 1: has a case to be better than New England. I
- 1:45:13Speaker 1: think some of those teams will inevitably underperformed due to
- 1:45:16Speaker 1: injuries and other circumstances, but getting to the postseason will
- 1:45:20Speaker 1: require a lot of luck. There's definitely is a world
- 1:45:23Speaker 1: where the Patriots are fourteenth in the AFC. In last
- 1:45:27Speaker 1: in the East on January twenty twenty three. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:45:31Speaker 1: have it's a particularly dark way of looking at it.
- 1:45:33Speaker 1: But the way he presented it, there's a case to
- 1:45:37Speaker 1: be made. Sure. I think that's true. That is it
- 1:45:40Speaker 1: is and I mean just this is it. I mean,
- 1:45:42Speaker 1: this is like I said, I think most weeks are
- 1:45:44Speaker 1: going to be looking at and say the Patriots, the
- 1:45:45Speaker 1: other team has more talent. And the one thing, and
- 1:45:49Speaker 1: I think I said this last week, all of those
- 1:45:51Speaker 1: teams that made improvements, you know, they're not all going
- 1:45:54Speaker 1: to work. You know, Yeah, Deshaun Watson's going to get
- 1:45:57Speaker 1: suspended from more games than Cleveland thought or something like
- 1:46:00Speaker 1: that will happen. Well, Russell Wilson, maybe he just doesn't
- 1:46:03Speaker 1: have it anymore. You know, one of the teams that
- 1:46:05Speaker 1: looks like they've gotten a lot better won't be a
- 1:46:07Speaker 1: lot better, right, But what if most of them do?
- 1:46:10Speaker 1: But this, I mean just look at the forget the
- 1:46:12Speaker 1: playoff teams, look at the non playoff teams that really
- 1:46:16Speaker 1: improved themselves, like Miami in Indianapolis, even the Chargers, you know, Cleveland, Colts,
- 1:46:25Speaker 1: you know, Chargers, Broncos, r Miami. They're not all gonna
- 1:46:30Speaker 1: have missed right. Free agency, one or two of them
- 1:46:33Speaker 1: will be better. You were already on the borderline of
- 1:46:36Speaker 1: making the playoffs last year. It's gonna be tough. Let's
- 1:46:39Speaker 1: go get excited, Alex, Alex and Patucket. But following this
- 1:46:47Speaker 1: draft from you guys and once again one of the
- 1:46:49Speaker 1: best shows around, Wow, thank you. You guys make the
- 1:46:52Speaker 1: frustrations of watching the Patriots draft much easier to deal with.
- 1:46:56Speaker 1: While I understand the need of guard, I was as
- 1:46:58Speaker 1: let down as everyone to pick one in the first round.
- 1:47:02Speaker 1: Belichick playing chess with all of our emotions by picking
- 1:47:05Speaker 1: a guard in the first round. After the draft, going
- 1:47:08Speaker 1: to our younger players who will play? Who are we
- 1:47:11Speaker 1: most excited to see get more playing time? Ouche, Jennings,
- 1:47:14Speaker 1: anyone else? Ah? Ouche and Jennings? I mean real Perkins
- 1:47:22Speaker 1: would be my Perkins, And I'd say Perkins is such
- 1:47:24Speaker 1: a good one. Perkins, Perkins is a good one. Mine's mcgron,
- 1:47:27Speaker 1: pu mcgron. Yeah, any of these linebackers, but you know,
- 1:47:31Speaker 1: he's an extra draft pick. I do. Perkins is the
- 1:47:33Speaker 1: guy that I would be most interesting because I haven't
- 1:47:35Speaker 1: seen him, you know, and what little we did see
- 1:47:38Speaker 1: you had a little bit of like, oh he's that's
- 1:47:40Speaker 1: I don't know something there. Yeah, I don't know. A
- 1:47:42Speaker 1: couple see him much. I know. I wish I could
- 1:47:45Speaker 1: say ouche. I think I've seen a little of and
- 1:47:48Speaker 1: I think he's fine. Um, but I think, you know,
- 1:47:52Speaker 1: forgetting about the rookies. We're not counting the rookies, right,
- 1:47:54Speaker 1: just young players. You haven't played much younger Perkins. You're welcome.
- 1:48:00Speaker 1: Pat an Agawam says, I'm with you. Fred on the
- 1:48:02Speaker 1: sour crout, but you need a nice brown, preferably polish mustard.
- 1:48:06Speaker 1: I was chowing on a ruben when I called in,
- 1:48:09Speaker 1: that's a good sandwich. A Gouldens makes it good over
- 1:48:11Speaker 1: the counter brown mustard. Yeah, yeah they do. That's the best.
- 1:48:15Speaker 1: I don't know if it's the best. But great poop,
- 1:48:19Speaker 1: you know, like your great um poppa is good. But
- 1:48:23Speaker 1: it's a little too rich for a hot dog. Yeah,
- 1:48:25Speaker 1: it's wasted on a hot dog, you know, if that's
- 1:48:28Speaker 1: what you like. Now, do you prefer the spicy brown
- 1:48:31Speaker 1: mustard dog? Yes? I did me too. Yeah, like I think,
- 1:48:35Speaker 1: like I have no problem with the regular yellow mustard.
- 1:48:37Speaker 1: I was gonna say, bright and shiny French is yellow. Mustar,
- 1:48:39Speaker 1: But I do like I do like the Gouldens too.
- 1:48:42Speaker 1: Trying on a hot dog, Paul, what do you think
- 1:48:44Speaker 1: about it? It's really a warm bologny sandwich. Well, he's right.
- 1:48:47Speaker 1: Have you ever eaten a raw hot dog? Yeah? I
- 1:48:50Speaker 1: used to know it and then I fried bologny and
- 1:48:55Speaker 1: it tastes like a hot dog. So a lot of
- 1:48:58Speaker 1: fried bologny sandwiches as a kid, didn't you really? Really? Well,
- 1:49:01Speaker 1: they were poor, you know, Mike. We grew up on
- 1:49:04Speaker 1: the streets so much they'd fry their shoes. And yeah,
- 1:49:09Speaker 1: we're right about the time the Reebok high tops took off.
- 1:49:12Speaker 1: That was. That was when we started getting the good
- 1:49:14Speaker 1: mustard my house. Okay, friends looking for more hot dog emails,
- 1:49:21Speaker 1: come on a hot dog? No, that was that was
- 1:49:25Speaker 1: the genesis of that whole zolac. Oh, yeah, in the
- 1:49:27Speaker 1: preseason last year. But hope though, it's that kind of banter.
- 1:49:30Speaker 1: If you like it, who's to tell you not to
- 1:49:32Speaker 1: eat it? Absolutely? Yeah, you know, if you like mustard
- 1:49:35Speaker 1: on your hot or eat you eat it wrong, it's
- 1:49:38Speaker 1: your prerogative, I know, And all seriousness, I'm a big
- 1:49:42Speaker 1: fan of that. Well, how you like it? Back in
- 1:49:44Speaker 1: the day when Eric was still a meat eater. Right,
- 1:49:47Speaker 1: we went to Arthur's and he wanted to get a
- 1:49:49Speaker 1: steak well done, and I objected. He did, I objected,
- 1:49:53Speaker 1: voiced an opposition. That's ridiculous. Yes, told the service that
- 1:49:56Speaker 1: don't you dare, don't you dare bring him a cooked
- 1:49:59Speaker 1: steak the scene my brother likes. And then you know,
- 1:50:05Speaker 1: my father would always be the one cooking it, and
- 1:50:07Speaker 1: my brother liked it well done. You pretty much couldn't
- 1:50:10Speaker 1: cook it too much. And my father almost refused to
- 1:50:13Speaker 1: do it, like he just wouldn't leave it on long enough.
- 1:50:15Speaker 1: And my like, there was arguments. This bad argument happened
- 1:50:18Speaker 1: all the time I did. That's the way he won't
- 1:50:21Speaker 1: wasting my money on a steak. You know, you're not
- 1:50:25Speaker 1: the way he likes to eat it. He's not feeling
- 1:50:27Speaker 1: like it was a waste of money. He liked it. Oh,
- 1:50:29Speaker 1: but you know what I'll do, Okay, I'm buying all
- 1:50:31Speaker 1: of us ribis. I'm buying him like a London broil,
- 1:50:34Speaker 1: and I'll cook it well done, and i'll give you
- 1:50:36Speaker 1: that for half the price. But if it's being consumed,
- 1:50:38Speaker 1: I'm gonna buy it's not being thrown away, I know,
- 1:50:41Speaker 1: But he doesn't need He doesn't need a good cut,
- 1:50:45Speaker 1: is what I'm saying. You don't need to waste the
- 1:50:46Speaker 1: money on someone who's gonna have you an it's a
- 1:50:50Speaker 1: waste of money because you don't like it'll taste the
- 1:50:53Speaker 1: same as what I'm saying. He won't even know the difference.
- 1:50:55Speaker 1: Of course, you know the difference between cuts of meat,
- 1:50:58Speaker 1: not when you do it well done, not when you
- 1:51:00Speaker 1: cook it well done. Just give him a hook. It
- 1:51:02Speaker 1: loses all the wing, it loses all its flavor on Sina,
- 1:51:09Speaker 1: I'm with the restaurant. At a restaurant, you go in order,
- 1:51:12Speaker 1: you know, a nice steak, well done, that's But if
- 1:51:13Speaker 1: you're just at home and you got to stop and shop, like,
- 1:51:15Speaker 1: who cares? Evident Fred, no listen if he's not paying,
- 1:51:20Speaker 1: I disagree Again, I listen. I'm like Fred, I like
- 1:51:22Speaker 1: it medium rare ish medium medium rare. Like I can't,
- 1:51:26Speaker 1: for the life of me figure out why anybody listen
- 1:51:28Speaker 1: the take. But even if you go to even if
- 1:51:32Speaker 1: you go to stopping shop, if you buy a ribby,
- 1:51:34Speaker 1: all the more reason to cook it. Right. Yeah, But
- 1:51:37Speaker 1: I think some people are some people I know are
- 1:51:40Speaker 1: grossed out by the sight of the blood and the
- 1:51:43Speaker 1: juices that red juices oozing out of the thing when
- 1:51:45Speaker 1: it's when it's medium rare, and so I think they
- 1:51:48Speaker 1: like cook so they don't want to see the blood.
- 1:51:50Speaker 1: I will make you a fish sandwich and will eat steak.
- 1:51:52Speaker 1: That's fine. You don't want steak, then you don't like steak.
- 1:51:55Speaker 1: You don't like from steak, you know you don't like it.
- 1:51:58Speaker 1: I'll make you a tuna fish sandwich. Like that's gonna
- 1:52:01Speaker 1: appease them. He doesn't like seafood. I'm not even the
- 1:52:05Speaker 1: steak either. But I mean, we can get into the
- 1:52:07Speaker 1: whole thing, but you know, oh we haven't. But Tyler
- 1:52:12Speaker 1: wants advice. I don't know if um. I might be
- 1:52:15Speaker 1: too removed to be able to give him it. Um,
- 1:52:18Speaker 1: But I am too. He's from Natick, he says. Later
- 1:52:20Speaker 1: this month, I'll be celebrating my thirtieth birthday, and I
- 1:52:22Speaker 1: was wondering if you all had any advice on how
- 1:52:25Speaker 1: to get the most out of your thirties. Oh wow,
- 1:52:29Speaker 1: most out of your thirties. It's a good question. I
- 1:52:31Speaker 1: don't have kids. Well, well, I think it does. It
- 1:52:36Speaker 1: does depend on your situation. Yeah, I think I would say,
- 1:52:40Speaker 1: work your ass off at your job because you know,
- 1:52:43Speaker 1: put in the time then, because that's when you have
- 1:52:46Speaker 1: your energy the most, you know, so that you can
- 1:52:48Speaker 1: retire someday, like I can't because I didn't do that
- 1:52:52Speaker 1: interesting way of looking at it. I mean, I might say,
- 1:52:54Speaker 1: have your fun now while you can, because you're gonna
- 1:52:57Speaker 1: be working the rest of your life and you'll have
- 1:52:59Speaker 1: responsibility and you won't be able to well in your twenties.
- 1:53:02Speaker 1: But you get you a third I mean I was,
- 1:53:04Speaker 1: I was here when I was thirty. Yeah, I don't know.
- 1:53:07Speaker 1: Then there's a you know, live for today because you
- 1:53:09Speaker 1: don't know what tomorrow is gonna happen, you know, So
- 1:53:12Speaker 1: I like the thing fred. I mean I would say
- 1:53:13Speaker 1: the same with kids too. I think if you're gonna
- 1:53:15Speaker 1: have kids, you want to do with the baby stage.
- 1:53:17Speaker 1: That's that's an energy thing of trying to manage. You
- 1:53:20Speaker 1: don't get that done before you get old. And people
- 1:53:22Speaker 1: are definitely doing that later and later. I know, Yeah,
- 1:53:25Speaker 1: I've sort of Yeah, I was the mid thirties. Yeah,
- 1:53:28Speaker 1: me two kids, Yeah. Joshua. Joshua says movie franchises were
- 1:53:32Speaker 1: the third movies better than the second Captain America. The
- 1:53:35Speaker 1: second one isn't very good. The third is excellent. On this,
- 1:53:39Speaker 1: shaking his head, The Winter Soldiers one of the best
- 1:53:41Speaker 1: in the MCU. That's number two four. The second one
- 1:53:44Speaker 1: is awful. Of the one is excellent, even better than
- 1:53:46Speaker 1: the first. Take on this number three. I like that
- 1:53:55Speaker 1: one too, And no one would agree with me on these,
- 1:53:58Speaker 1: but no one's Batman. That Dark Knight Rises isn't great,
- 1:54:02Speaker 1: but it is way better than the Dark Knight. You've
- 1:54:04Speaker 1: all said you think the Dark Knight was great, but
- 1:54:07Speaker 1: I thought it was crap. Oh contrary, My favorite of
- 1:54:09Speaker 1: that is the Dark Knight Rises. That's the third one. Oh,
- 1:54:13Speaker 1: I like the third one. I like that better than
- 1:54:15Speaker 1: the Yeah, mine goes two three one, Yeah, I again
- 1:54:18Speaker 1: three I go three two one. Okay, but they're both good.
- 1:54:22Speaker 1: I mean they were all. I think, three of them.
- 1:54:24Speaker 1: I think the area's ruined. It's hard. I think I
- 1:54:30Speaker 1: think people who don't like the Nolan Batman's or snobs.
- 1:54:33Speaker 1: Matt Morrell. Matt Morrel, I never said I didn't like
- 1:54:36Speaker 1: the movies. I can't imagine saying he didn't like any
- 1:54:40Speaker 1: of them. I'm trying to get him involved. It's because
- 1:54:41Speaker 1: I don't think that they're as comic bookie as a
- 1:54:43Speaker 1: lot of people probably want. But I like the realism
- 1:54:46Speaker 1: of it, and you know, it's just it felt like
- 1:54:48Speaker 1: a real comic of the realism of it. Yeah, it's crazy. Yeah,
- 1:54:52Speaker 1: the new one was comic book off the page. Yeah.
- 1:54:55Speaker 1: The new one a blue that was detective comics right
- 1:54:58Speaker 1: off the page. It was. I mean, I really liked
- 1:55:00Speaker 1: the new one, um, but I didn't think it was
- 1:55:03Speaker 1: comic bookie. I felt like I was reading an issue. Okay,
- 1:55:06Speaker 1: well I don't read them, so yeah, some of the
- 1:55:08Speaker 1: framing definitely felt artsy, and it felt like they were
- 1:55:11Speaker 1: kind of comic book framing wise, with the cameras and stuff.
- 1:55:14Speaker 1: But is there like a cepia tone in it, or
- 1:55:16Speaker 1: like like like a very red, Yeah, like a dominant
- 1:55:19Speaker 1: color theme throughout. It looked like from those things completely
- 1:55:24Speaker 1: lost on me. Yeah, I could watch these movies and
- 1:55:26Speaker 1: have no idea what they're talking about. Right now, I
- 1:55:28Speaker 1: think you would notice how red the movie is. But
- 1:55:31Speaker 1: I have one question for the Batman franchises. Why the
- 1:55:35Speaker 1: hell would any normal person want to live in Gotham?
- 1:55:38Speaker 1: I mean, the place is a hell hole. It's new
- 1:55:40Speaker 1: York City like it's New York, I know, but that
- 1:55:44Speaker 1: version of me, I mean it's a hell hole. Get
- 1:55:46Speaker 1: the hell out right. Well, that's like the running theme
- 1:55:48Speaker 1: through all of it, society. Is there any Batman stuff
- 1:55:52Speaker 1: where like Gotham is now a thriving kind of place
- 1:55:55Speaker 1: or is it always like like did it ever get over?
- 1:55:57Speaker 1: It's always a character And then somebody comes back storyline
- 1:56:02Speaker 1: back to the future too, right, who would want to
- 1:56:05Speaker 1: live in that hill valley? Not me? I mean Biff
- 1:56:08Speaker 1: would if Biff enjoyed it, right, he was the only
- 1:56:10Speaker 1: one that wasn't by the way, one one far superiod.
- 1:56:14Speaker 1: The two Oh yeah, oh yeah yeah. Two it wasn't terrible,
- 1:56:20Speaker 1: but one was significantly better. Yeah. Three was really bad too.
- 1:56:23Speaker 1: Three wasn't great. Mary steinbergon and yeah, their voice annoys me. Yeah,
- 1:56:28Speaker 1: she's got perfect pitch. Did we did? She had like
- 1:56:31Speaker 1: a like a weird like Mary Steberson had like this
- 1:56:35Speaker 1: weird thing. I don't I don't know if she was
- 1:56:37Speaker 1: sick or something. But when she recovered she could she
- 1:56:39Speaker 1: had perfect pitch and she just hear heard music and
- 1:56:43Speaker 1: she just started writing music like middle of her life.
- 1:56:45Speaker 1: Never real. Mary Steinberg and music. I don't know how
- 1:56:49Speaker 1: good it is, but only the hits we did it.
- 1:56:51Speaker 1: We did a pilot with her, and I remember telling
- 1:56:53Speaker 1: that story being like, that's the weirdest thing I've ever heard, Like,
- 1:56:55Speaker 1: she did you forget exactly? Maybe it might have been
- 1:56:57Speaker 1: I forget exactly what the insighting. So you were in
- 1:56:59Speaker 1: the room where she was telling the story. Yeah, we
- 1:57:02Speaker 1: did a show with her and Don Johnson. Yeah, Southern
- 1:57:06Speaker 1: Southern Comfort. That was a show we we did. Pretty sure,
- 1:57:09Speaker 1: I've seen at least one episode of that. Well we
- 1:57:11Speaker 1: never made it to air, but there's there. So the
- 1:57:13Speaker 1: pilots are wrong again, No, they're very well, they're very well.
- 1:57:18Speaker 1: Could have been another show called Southern Maybe maybe that's
- 1:57:21Speaker 1: what it might have been, Southern I think a lot discomfort.
- 1:57:25Speaker 1: I'm obviously wrong, but I could swear I've seen a
- 1:57:28Speaker 1: show called Southern Comfort, but I was thinking more Joanna Garcia.
- 1:57:32Speaker 1: Oh her too. Um. But that was always the hard
- 1:57:35Speaker 1: part with lightful pilots was like, you know, you'd have
- 1:57:38Speaker 1: like a title for it, and then you'd get to
- 1:57:40Speaker 1: like three quarters through the process and that, okay, now
- 1:57:41Speaker 1: we have to name it, and like, didn't we already
- 1:57:43Speaker 1: have a title, and then it would be all kinds
- 1:57:45Speaker 1: of like like bless this Mess. I know there's another
- 1:57:47Speaker 1: show now called bless this Mess. We had to bless
- 1:57:49Speaker 1: this Mess with Anita Renfro back in the day, you know, like,
- 1:57:52Speaker 1: let's blessed this Mess. I think I've seen I don't
- 1:57:54Speaker 1: know what it is now, but now I'm not that anything.
- 1:57:57Speaker 1: Ten years ago, so as not to be seen as
- 1:57:59Speaker 1: a big of fraud, somebody had a thing on Twitter.
- 1:58:02Speaker 1: I know we're running out of time, but they said,
- 1:58:03Speaker 1: name a show that you remember that you don't think
- 1:58:06Speaker 1: anyone else remember. Oh uh, Evening Shade. I remember the name.
- 1:58:12Speaker 1: I think I ever saw. Evening Shade was a sitcom
- 1:58:16Speaker 1: starring Burt Reynolds. Yes, as a former he was Terry
- 1:58:20Speaker 1: Bradshaw's back up for the Pittsburgh Steelers. That was his character. Okay,
- 1:58:24Speaker 1: I definitely never backup quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steels. And
- 1:58:27Speaker 1: he moved back to his hometown of Evening Shade like Arkansas,
- 1:58:30Speaker 1: I think, and kindle a flame with an old girl.
- 1:58:32Speaker 1: No he was. He was married to Sally Field over
- 1:58:36Speaker 1: those mountains. Who's the girl from Taxi? Uh? He was
- 1:58:40Speaker 1: married to Mary leu Henner. That was a great cast
- 1:58:43Speaker 1: and Burt Reynolds got a lot of tale in his time. Chum,
- 1:58:50Speaker 1: here's one I don't think any of you will remember
- 1:58:52Speaker 1: because I was a little kid, but my mother the car.
- 1:58:55Speaker 1: Remember the show. I didn't never watched it, but it
- 1:58:59Speaker 1: was about this. It was this guy whose mother died
- 1:59:04Speaker 1: and possessed a car. It was like an old fashioned car.
- 1:59:08Speaker 1: So we'd get in the car and turn on the
- 1:59:10Speaker 1: radio and talk to his mother. It was right. It
- 1:59:13Speaker 1: was Avery and Schreiber were the two characters in it.
- 1:59:17Speaker 1: That's how they like became remember them. It was like
- 1:59:21Speaker 1: a comic team. And you know what I mean. Huh
- 1:59:23Speaker 1: huh huh. He Striber No, Striber took over for don
- 1:59:31Speaker 1: Knots in Maybury. He became the new deputy or actually
- 1:59:36Speaker 1: he might have been there while don Knots was on.
- 1:59:37Speaker 1: They were both of them Mayberry. There's a show a
- 1:59:40Speaker 1: lot of our listeners probably have never heard of. Black
- 1:59:42Speaker 1: and White was a very short lived sitcom in the
- 1:59:46Speaker 1: early eighties called Ichua Move with very young Jason Bateman,
- 1:59:49Speaker 1: who was hilarious at it, and I don't think it
- 1:59:52Speaker 1: was on very long. He's my favorite sitcom. Yeah, I
- 1:59:57Speaker 1: don't think it was on, but it was very funny. Yeah,
- 2:00:00Speaker 1: he was on one of those. Was he on that Julie? No,
- 2:00:01Speaker 1: he wasn't on that Julie Luis Drive a show where
- 2:00:03Speaker 1: she was like the neighbor that he was on Valerie,
- 2:00:10Speaker 1: Remember Valerie. His name was Ross on the show. Um,
- 2:00:14Speaker 1: oh god, Harper Ross, Harper, Friends, I can't think of
- 2:00:18Speaker 1: that guy. I can't think of the name of that
- 2:00:19Speaker 1: day by Day, day by Day, Day by Day, it
- 2:00:21Speaker 1: was the name of the show. Yes, day by Day
- 2:00:24Speaker 1: was a lawyer on that show. He was like the
- 2:00:26Speaker 1: go to young, snarky teenage sitcom actor for all of
- 2:00:30Speaker 1: those like pilot shows and everything. He's made a great
- 2:00:33Speaker 1: career out of it. Though, very funny show, but no
- 2:00:35Speaker 1: one would ever remember. What I want to know was
- 2:00:37Speaker 1: what happened to his sister Satisfaction. I was a huge
- 2:00:42Speaker 1: family yeah, family times days she doesn't. I never see
- 2:00:45Speaker 1: her in anything, all right, I'd like to see her,
- 2:00:48Speaker 1: honest all right, friends, had enough, that's it, we gotta go.
- 2:00:51Speaker 1: Thanks for listening. We'll be back Thursday with more of whatever.
