- 0:53Speaker 2: Have a big show for you this morning, looking forward
- 0:55Speaker 2: to it. Attorney General is here this morning. I want
- 0:56Speaker 2: to talk about what's going on out of the Attorney
- 0:58Speaker 2: General's office. Also, a former mayor, Danny Jones is going
- 1:01Speaker 2: to be in studio with this morning. We're going to
- 1:03Speaker 2: talk about the run for the Wall that is taking
- 1:05Speaker 2: place in Nitro tomorrow, and plus your phone calls and text,
- 1:07Speaker 2: so we're going to have a good morning this morning.
- 1:09Speaker 2: You can get your questions or comments ready for the
- 1:12Speaker 2: text or of the phone lines coming up here in
- 1:14Speaker 2: just a few moments. Would appreciate that. But'd like to
- 1:16Speaker 2: welcome on to the airwaves. Welcome back onto the airways
- 1:18Speaker 2: where a relatively regular spot is Westerntean's Attorney General J. D.
- 1:22Speaker 2: Mccuskey's with me. How are you doing this morning?
- 1:23Speaker 3: Good?
- 1:23Speaker 4: I'm really it was a pleasant surprise to have you
- 1:26Speaker 4: instead of Dave this morning.
- 1:27Speaker 5: He's listening in a good way or about very good
- 1:29Speaker 5: pleasant surprise. I hope Dave is having a great trip,
- 1:32Speaker 5: but it's good to see it.
- 1:34Speaker 2: Well. Deserve time off for Dave, so I'm glad he
- 1:36Speaker 2: was able to get away. He usually takes this time
- 1:38Speaker 2: of off every year, so I'm glad him and his
- 1:39Speaker 2: family were able to get away for a little while.
- 1:42Speaker 2: I know a lot of big things are happening out
- 1:43Speaker 2: of the Attorney's General's office, very busy over there, so
- 1:46Speaker 2: let's just start right away. You recently have sent an
- 1:49Speaker 2: open letter or a letter to the SEC about artificial intelligence,
- 1:54Speaker 2: specifically open AI, and just let you, in your words,
- 1:57Speaker 2: explain the folks about this.
- 1:59Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:59Speaker 4: So, I think one of the things that people need
- 2:01Speaker 4: to understand is that there is enormous threat online just
- 2:05Speaker 4: in general. And so our office has taken a myriad
- 2:07Speaker 4: of actions, whether it's this open AI thing, whether it
- 2:10Speaker 4: was our Apple case, whether it was with roadblocks, to
- 2:13Speaker 4: make sure that West Virginia is sort of staking out
- 2:16Speaker 4: its place as a national leader in protecting kids and
- 2:20Speaker 4: families from some of the dangers that are happening online
- 2:23Speaker 4: and particularly in the AI space. And so what you're
- 2:27Speaker 4: seeing with open AI is that there's a relative aggregation
- 2:32Speaker 4: of these companies into these monolithic, giant companies. And with
- 2:38Speaker 4: a technology that's as powerful as AI, we really need
- 2:41Speaker 4: to make sure that competition is in the marketplace. Because
- 2:45Speaker 4: while the government can do a lot to help to
- 2:47Speaker 4: make sure that these platforms are regulated and they're following
- 2:51Speaker 4: safety standards, or they're doing all the things that we
- 2:53Speaker 4: need them to be doing to make sure that it's
- 2:55Speaker 4: being used in a positive way, really the greatest defense
- 2:59Speaker 4: again against bad action is competition, right, and so the
- 3:03Speaker 4: consumer will, when given the opportunities, migrate towards the places
- 3:08Speaker 4: that are.
- 3:08Speaker 5: Doing it the right way.
- 3:09Speaker 4: And what we're trying to make sure is that these
- 3:11Speaker 4: companies don't get so big that, quite frankly, they're bigger
- 3:15Speaker 4: than government intervention, and that every consumer has the opportunity
- 3:18Speaker 4: to find find the market participants that are using this
- 3:24Speaker 4: technology the right way that are really making it easier
- 3:27Speaker 4: for kids to be kids, and making it easier for
- 3:29Speaker 4: parents to be parents, and making it easier for doctors
- 3:31Speaker 4: to find cures for cancer and all the things that
- 3:33Speaker 4: we know that AI can do without the inherent and
- 3:37Speaker 4: incredible danger that I think we can all see from
- 3:39Speaker 4: this technology.
- 3:41Speaker 2: I like what you say there in a lot of
- 3:43Speaker 2: different and in a lot of different ways. And one
- 3:45Speaker 2: of the things that I think that we see, and
- 3:47Speaker 2: I think actions like what your office is taken might
- 3:48Speaker 2: be helping with this. But it seems like what we're
- 3:50Speaker 2: starting to see is that artificial intelligence was almost birthed
- 3:55Speaker 2: to some degree, at least from a public standpoint, as chat,
- 3:59Speaker 2: GPT as open yeh, that's what almost. It was like
- 4:01Speaker 2: the coke, It was like immediate association with AI. We
- 4:04Speaker 2: are starting to see already some of that spinning back
- 4:08Speaker 2: a little bit. I think that Claude might not have
- 4:10Speaker 2: now might have more paid users than what open and
- 4:13Speaker 2: I started to see that balancing just.
- 4:14Speaker 4: Maybe hit a billion users right somewhere in that neighborhood.
- 4:17Speaker 4: And so you know that the same reason why, you know,
- 4:21Speaker 4: if Dotson is making a car that's unsafe, right, people
- 4:25Speaker 4: will buy a Toyota. And so the AI has exactly
- 4:29Speaker 4: the same characteristics of that. And you know, people sort
- 4:32Speaker 4: of talk about AIS as it's it's sort of brand
- 4:34Speaker 4: new thing. It's really and you and I were sort
- 4:37Speaker 4: of talking about Star Trek and Star Wars before this.
- 4:39Speaker 4: But you know, at the end of the day, I
- 4:41Speaker 4: think AI was a natural outgrowth of the computer. I mean,
- 4:45Speaker 4: I think this was going to happen no matter what
- 4:47Speaker 4: it is. It it was a sort of natural progression
- 4:51Speaker 4: as we started to use machines to do things around us, eventually,
- 4:57Speaker 4: you know, people were going to figure out how to
- 4:58Speaker 4: use them to predict And that's really what AI does,
- 5:01Speaker 4: is it is a way to use past actions to.
- 5:04Speaker 5: Predict the future.
- 5:06Speaker 4: And you know that the possibilities of what it can
- 5:10Speaker 4: do are truly astronomical. But the dangers are equally astronomical,
- 5:15Speaker 4: and the ways in which it can harm society are
- 5:18Speaker 4: equal and opposite from the ways in which it can
- 5:20Speaker 4: benefit society.
- 5:21Speaker 2: Yeah, what you bring there up there is very true.
- 5:23Speaker 2: We've had narrow aof for a long time. We've had
- 5:26Speaker 2: very narrow specific use for decades. We've had AI in use,
- 5:29Speaker 2: but now we have these large language more it's not
- 5:31Speaker 2: general AI yet, but more large language models that do
- 5:34Speaker 2: more things.
- 5:34Speaker 4: Yeah, the only real difference is the chips, right, I mean,
- 5:37Speaker 4: at a certain level, every computer right down to Fortran
- 5:40Speaker 4: in the in the sixties and seventies could have done
- 5:42Speaker 4: this were we able to where there to be that
- 5:45Speaker 4: much capability within in the processing chips. And they've gotten
- 5:47Speaker 4: smaller and more powerful. And you know, you can see
- 5:50Speaker 4: every time, you know, the President was just in China,
- 5:52Speaker 4: and you know Biden and Obama and Trump one and
- 5:56Speaker 4: everybody has has worked on this chip processing problem. Right,
- 6:00Speaker 4: where are we going to make these chips? Where are
- 6:02Speaker 4: they going to happen? And so that's really the next
- 6:06Speaker 4: frontier is how is America going to stake its claim
- 6:09Speaker 4: is the place where AI is done properly and we
- 6:11Speaker 4: are producing the minerals and the and and the components
- 6:16Speaker 4: of these micro chips, so that we are a step
- 6:19Speaker 4: ahead of our competitors places like Russia and China.
- 6:23Speaker 2: The final thing on this is and kind of your
- 6:25Speaker 2: your future looking forward to on what concerns this could have,
- 6:28Speaker 2: and you tie even tied into potential retirement funds and
- 6:31Speaker 2: pension funds and things along those lines, because as we've
- 6:33Speaker 2: seen in the past that if you think the company's
- 6:36Speaker 2: hot and it's a camp miss or whatever it might,
- 6:37Speaker 2: you might be unbalanced, overbalanced in that a little bit,
- 6:40Speaker 2: even at a state level when a pension fund or something,
- 6:42Speaker 2: and if a n Ron type it I mean that
- 6:44Speaker 2: now that it's totally different, but at the same time,
- 6:46Speaker 2: it's what in people's head if a rug pull similar
- 6:49Speaker 2: to that happens, state could be in a lot of
- 6:51Speaker 2: trouble if they were if they didn't do.
- 6:53Speaker 4: And I think what I was sort of getting at
- 6:55Speaker 4: there too is that West Virginia has a really astronomical
- 6:59Speaker 4: place in the marketplace right now. It's something that we
- 7:01Speaker 4: absolutely have to capitalize on because while we know that
- 7:05Speaker 4: these companies may be fly by night, the idea is not.
- 7:08Speaker 4: And the components of how you make these chips and
- 7:11Speaker 4: the things that these chips are used for, ie data centers,
- 7:14Speaker 4: et cetera. They all require the things that West Virginia
- 7:17Speaker 4: has right. They rere They require energy, which we can
- 7:21Speaker 4: produce in quantities that far out at pace almost everywhere
- 7:24Speaker 4: else in the entire country in some ways of the world.
- 7:27Speaker 4: And they require minerals right, which we also have. And
- 7:29Speaker 4: they also require a commitment to what I think is
- 7:35Speaker 4: a code of conduct, which I think maybe is one
- 7:37Speaker 4: of our greatest assets here in West Virginia's that we
- 7:40Speaker 4: have as a culture. I think one of the greatest,
- 7:43Speaker 4: one of the greatest perspectives on how people should be, how.
- 7:46Speaker 5: They should act, and how we should interact with other people.
- 7:48Speaker 4: And so I think there's a real natural fit here
- 7:50Speaker 4: for West Virginia to sort of take a leadership place
- 7:52Speaker 4: in this sort of technological revolution.
- 7:54Speaker 2: Now Wesvirginia's Attorney General J. B. Potoski is joining me
- 7:57Speaker 2: this morning. We are talking about several different things. It's
- 8:01Speaker 2: knew out of your office. Another thing that's that's relatively
- 8:03Speaker 2: new is you came up with the UH weighing in
- 8:07Speaker 2: on the Virginia redistricrite case. And that's something that is
- 8:12Speaker 2: that that's settled now, right the court, their court's already
- 8:14Speaker 2: waiged in. They took your position basically on it. They
- 8:17Speaker 2: mirrored that same position, or the Supreme Court mirror that
- 8:19Speaker 2: same position on it. So that is to bed.
- 8:21Speaker 6: Now.
- 8:22Speaker 5: Remember that was no decisions.
- 8:24Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm sure there's people out there saying, oh, you know,
- 8:26Speaker 4: the attorney general's weighing on this politics. I mean, we
- 8:29Speaker 4: got KBJ to agree with us. It was it was
- 8:32Speaker 4: nine zero. What Virginia did was unconstitutional. Their attorney general
- 8:35Speaker 4: told them it was unconstitutional. And I'm costing them eleven
- 8:38Speaker 4: million dollars of taxpayer money to make a catastrophic, known
- 8:42Speaker 4: mistake for specific political purposes. And if anybody out there
- 8:46Speaker 4: is unaware, Virginia tried to redistrict their congressional maps to
- 8:51Speaker 4: go from a six' Five democrat To republican to a
- 8:54Speaker 4: ten to one. Right So virginia is roughly forty six
- 8:57Speaker 4: percent Registered, republicans give or, take and they were going
- 9:00Speaker 4: to essentially disenfranchise in some ways an astronomical portion of those.
- 9:07Speaker 4: Folks and you, know when you looked at the, maps i,
- 9:09Speaker 4: mean the lobster drawing comes to. Mind you, know they
- 9:12Speaker 4: had a there were two legs of a lobster that
- 9:14Speaker 4: were one hundred miles, apart AND i think Northern virginia
- 9:18Speaker 4: was connected with southwestern or south Southwestern virginia by a
- 9:22Speaker 4: strip of like two miles. WIDE i, mean it was
- 9:24Speaker 4: one of the most ridiculous Maps i've ever. Seen and
- 9:27Speaker 4: everybody is seeing now that this entire idea of jerrymandering
- 9:31Speaker 4: is really coming to the. Forefront AND i, think you,
- 9:33Speaker 4: know there's a lot of great folks In washington that
- 9:36Speaker 4: are trying to sort of re rethink the way that
- 9:40Speaker 4: we draw these congressional maps because it isn't supposed to be, political,
- 9:45Speaker 4: right it is supposed it's actually allowed to be. Political
- 9:48Speaker 4: but the idea is is that every congress person is
- 9:52Speaker 4: supposed to have a constituency that they have to answer.
- 9:55Speaker 4: To and if you create maps where people can't, lose
- 9:59Speaker 4: they can go to Wa washington and do, nothing which
- 10:01Speaker 4: is what we've. Seen, Right if you're allowed to just
- 10:03Speaker 4: go up there and SAY i was fighting for, this,
- 10:05Speaker 4: right that's where we've gotten In. Congress, right people are
- 10:08Speaker 4: able to come back to their districts and SAY i
- 10:11Speaker 4: tried to do, this and when thirty years ago you
- 10:13Speaker 4: had to SAY i actually did this, right and that's
- 10:16Speaker 4: really it's a dangerous place for our democracy to. Be
- 10:19Speaker 4: AND i think these the map drawing and creating maps
- 10:22Speaker 4: where you know it is possible for people to lose
- 10:25Speaker 4: their seats if they don't get the job, DONE i
- 10:27Speaker 4: think is really really important moving forward For washington to
- 10:31Speaker 4: start doing the things that they need to.
- 10:32Speaker 2: Do and broadly, speaking AND i know we're talking About virginia,
- 10:34Speaker 2: here AND i don't want it to get The virginia
- 10:37Speaker 2: case specifically also had to do WITH i, mean people
- 10:40Speaker 2: can try to bring, out, well what about this map
- 10:42Speaker 2: and what about this? Map and there was all kinds
- 10:43Speaker 2: of similar ones to the lobster regardless of what side you're,
- 10:46Speaker 2: on the point on this very particularly was there was
- 10:49Speaker 2: no real question about this. Decision and it wasn't, psicality
- 10:54Speaker 2: but it was a but it was language that was
- 10:56Speaker 2: very specific and there wasn't really any way to get
- 10:58Speaker 2: around and.
- 10:58Speaker 5: It wasn't technicality is probably not the, correct.
- 11:01Speaker 2: RIGHT i was trying to think of a better.
- 11:02Speaker 4: One, right they had an election after an election, started,
- 11:05Speaker 4: right and that's just completely. INAPPROPRIATE i think The Democratic
- 11:09Speaker 4: Congressional committee spent eighty million dollars trying to get that
- 11:13Speaker 4: resolution passed through the voters Of.
- 11:15Speaker 5: VIRGINIA i, mean you know.
- 11:17Speaker 4: It it was, untoward it was, unconstitutional and all Nine
- 11:21Speaker 4: Supreme court justices agreed with my office.
- 11:23Speaker 2: In, me, yeah it. Was it was in law. Fair
- 11:26Speaker 2: basically knew it was going to happen before it. HAPPENED i,
- 11:28Speaker 2: MEAN i.
- 11:29Speaker 5: Imagine what you could do with that eighty million. Bucks,
- 11:31Speaker 5: yeah that's a lot of, cases.
- 11:32Speaker 2: RIGHT i did want to just very briefly before he.
- 11:35Speaker 2: Left you talked about this With. Dave but this was
- 11:36Speaker 2: something BECAUSE i have an eight year old, daughter and
- 11:39Speaker 2: so things like, this The apple lawsuit that you talked
- 11:41Speaker 2: about is Pretty it was a pretty major. Thing AND
- 11:44Speaker 2: i don't know THAT i don't know that to some,
- 11:47Speaker 2: DEGREE i think THAT i have an advantage being a
- 11:50Speaker 2: fifty two year old man with an eight year old,
- 11:51Speaker 2: daughter Because i've seen a lot and it really concerns
- 11:57Speaker 2: me with some of the things that that Are she's
- 12:00Speaker 2: going to be exposed, to some things that she might
- 12:02Speaker 2: even be forced to be exposed, to you, know like
- 12:05Speaker 2: just to participate in. Life and there's a lot of
- 12:08Speaker 2: these things that are a. Problem the one thing that
- 12:09Speaker 2: we have to be aware, of, though is these giant
- 12:11Speaker 2: companies Like apple that hold so much of our, data
- 12:14Speaker 2: that holds so many of our, pictures that hold so
- 12:15Speaker 2: much of our, lives that they have some responsibility for
- 12:21Speaker 2: those things of ours that they.
- 12:22Speaker 4: Have, yeah And i'm a forty four year old dad
- 12:25Speaker 4: of an eight year old, daughter and there are. Advantages there's,
- 12:27Speaker 4: disadvantages like the fact that my knees and back hurt every.
- 12:30Speaker 2: Morning i'm tired all the.
- 12:31Speaker 4: Time, RIGHT i look at all these younger dads And i'm,
- 12:33Speaker 4: like oh my, god that looks so, Nice, like what's
- 12:35Speaker 4: it like to sleep all? Night but you're, Right and
- 12:40Speaker 4: so what The apple case is really about is that
- 12:43Speaker 4: there are horrible people in this. World and we live
- 12:46Speaker 4: in a time when it has never been easier to
- 12:50Speaker 4: be a child. Predator and that is a terrifying thing to.
- 12:53Speaker 4: Say and it's incumbent upon all of us grown, ups
- 12:56Speaker 4: people that want to see our children grow up in
- 12:57Speaker 4: a world where they have the ability to go outside play,
- 13:00Speaker 4: right where they.
- 13:01Speaker 5: Have the ability to be. Kids and it seems harder every.
- 13:05Speaker 4: Day i'm sure you see it, Too But apple is
- 13:08Speaker 4: storing potentially billions of images of child rape in their
- 13:12Speaker 4: cloud and not doing anything to allow the law enforcement
- 13:17Speaker 4: officials in the states across this country to use these
- 13:20Speaker 4: images to find these. Predators and so you, know it takes.
- 13:24Speaker 4: Sometimes you, KNOW i always like to use the analogy
- 13:27Speaker 4: Of Mike Tyson's Punch out if anybody ever played that,
- 13:29Speaker 4: Game but you, know the main character was a, little
- 13:32Speaker 4: tiny guy and he had to jump up to Punch Mike.
- 13:34Speaker 4: Tyson and so in this, Instance West virginia's kind of
- 13:37Speaker 4: the little guy In Mike tyson's Punch. Out and it's
- 13:40Speaker 4: our hope that we can Cause apple to understand that
- 13:43Speaker 4: this is an inappropriate way for them to behaving and
- 13:47Speaker 4: that it's their responsibility to join us in this fight
- 13:50Speaker 4: to protect all of our kids and give them a
- 13:52Speaker 4: world where they can they can grow up somewhat like
- 13:55Speaker 4: we did as much as humanly, possible where they don't
- 13:58Speaker 4: feel unsafe all the, time and they're constantly having to
- 14:00Speaker 4: edit their behaviors and edit the way that they interact
- 14:04Speaker 4: with the world so that they don't feel. Unsafe AND
- 14:06Speaker 4: i think that's just astronomically important for our society and
- 14:10Speaker 4: particularly for people here In Much virginia And.
- 14:11Speaker 2: Jenia, yeah we need to be a look on. THAT
- 14:13Speaker 2: i want to look out for that for, parents and
- 14:16Speaker 2: some government help helps absolute a ton of. Times there's
- 14:18Speaker 2: no question about. That Questioning Attorney GENERAL. Jv mccusky has
- 14:21Speaker 2: been my guest this, morning went over a lot of
- 14:23Speaker 2: good action coming out of his. OFFICE i appreciate you
- 14:25Speaker 2: coming in this, morning.
- 14:25Speaker 5: H thank you so.
- 14:26Speaker 4: Much and it's nice to be on the other side
- 14:28Speaker 4: of this. Election oh, yes that's. Sure you, know it is.
- 14:31Speaker 4: INTERESTING i HAD i don't, know maybe a half a
- 14:34Speaker 4: million dollars spent against me WHEN i was running for
- 14:36Speaker 4: A house Of, delegates and you know it was just one,
- 14:38Speaker 4: seat seventeen thousand, votes whatever it. Was and you, know
- 14:41Speaker 4: was this maybe a little bit more than has happened
- 14:43Speaker 4: in the. Past it might, be but it is important
- 14:45Speaker 4: to remember, that you, know history always repeats, itself and
- 14:48Speaker 4: this is not the first time that a ton of
- 14:49Speaker 4: money and a bunch of negative ads have have been
- 14:51Speaker 4: spit out and we always end up.
- 14:53Speaker 5: Okay we have a system of.
- 14:54Speaker 4: GOVERNMENT i think that really overcomes a lot of the
- 14:58Speaker 4: frailties of the. Process And i'm excited to see what's
- 15:01Speaker 4: going to happen in the, future, because LIKE i said,
- 15:03Speaker 4: BEFORE i think what we have in front of us
- 15:06Speaker 4: is way more important than what just happened in the.
- 15:08Speaker 2: Election great. INFORMATION i really appreciate. It thank you very.
- 15:10Speaker 5: Much.
- 15:10Speaker 2: Hey, thanks That's Attorney GENERAL. J. B. Mccusky my guess this.
- 15:13Speaker 2: Morning what we're going to do now is we're going
- 15:14Speaker 2: to take a. Break when we come, back Former Mayor
- 15:16Speaker 2: Danny jones is going to join. Me we're going to
- 15:17Speaker 2: talk To Joe stevens From nitro about the run for
- 15:19Speaker 2: The wall that's taking on down. There you can give

- 19:48Speaker 3: alter nate each year With Valley park and last year
- 19:51Speaker 3: they were In Vali. Park this year they're In.
- 19:53Speaker 2: Nitro, yeah that's. Fantastic give us a little bit of
- 19:56Speaker 2: a backstory of. This of, course we've been covering this
- 19:58Speaker 2: for a long. Time it's been coming for a. While
- 20:00Speaker 2: people are probably generally, aware but it's for a great.
- 20:03Speaker 2: Cause so let's remind folks a little bit of what this.
- 20:05Speaker 3: Is, well The run for A wall is it started
- 20:09Speaker 3: over three decades ago and it is to bring attention
- 20:15Speaker 3: to The vietnam veterans who did not make it, home
- 20:19Speaker 3: the POWs and the missing in, actions that was the main.
- 20:23Speaker 2: Cause now.
- 20:26Speaker 3: This year they're honoring the thirty fifth anniversary Of Desert,
- 20:29Speaker 3: storm if you can imagine. That but many of the
- 20:33Speaker 3: riders are either veterans or current military, members or family
- 20:39Speaker 3: members or just friends that want to bring. Attention they
- 20:42Speaker 3: started last week a week, ago but the Last wednesday
- 20:47Speaker 3: they started out In, Ontario, california and they started headed.
- 20:51Speaker 3: East there's actually three. Routes the one that comes Through
- 20:55Speaker 3: nitro is the central, route and again that's about three
- 20:59Speaker 3: hundred motorcycle and they have been coming across the. Area
- 21:04Speaker 3: They in, Fact Dave allen spoke to one of the
- 21:09Speaker 3: riders From West, Virginia Todd, taylor who is From montgomery
- 21:14Speaker 3: and he is the coordinator for The West virginia, contingent
- 21:17Speaker 3: and they were talking to him as he was they
- 21:20Speaker 3: were coming through the desert and he is they're having
- 21:24Speaker 3: a good time right. Now everything's been going. Well if you're,
- 21:28Speaker 3: wondering the arrival here In nitro should be around five.
- 21:32Speaker 3: Fifteen the weather it looks a little bit in, clement
- 21:35Speaker 3: but the weather doesn't stop. Them they make it on.
- 21:38Speaker 3: Through so it's to bring. Attention after they Leave Nitro,
- 21:43Speaker 3: dale they will head to the State. Capitol then they
- 21:46Speaker 3: go To. Rainell they have adopted the city Of rainell
- 21:50Speaker 3: and it's. Fascinating one time they just stopped there and
- 21:57Speaker 3: this town adopted, them and they adopted the city Of.
- 22:00Speaker 3: Rainew they will stay overnight In, raynell have a big celebration,
- 22:04Speaker 3: there and then they are head on TOWARDS. Dc they
- 22:08Speaker 3: will make a stop at the Uh tomb of The
- 22:11Speaker 3: Unknown Soldier race there and then many will go to
- 22:14Speaker 3: The Vietnam Veterans, wall The Memorial wall and that and
- 22:20Speaker 3: then the old head back out to wherever they are.
- 22:22Speaker 3: From so it's it's just a way to commemorate what
- 22:26Speaker 3: has been done through the. Years AND i Know Mayor
- 22:30Speaker 3: jones there is A vietnam, veteran so he totally understands
- 22:35Speaker 3: the efforts that are going.
- 22:36Speaker 13: On CAN i ask you a, question does the the
- 22:40Speaker 13: wall In nitro is that a miniature version of The Big?
- 22:44Speaker 2: Wall May, no it's.
- 22:47Speaker 3: Not, actually it is A the memorial that is located
- 22:51Speaker 3: in The Nitro history And Wars museum is A vietnam
- 22:56Speaker 3: memorial wall that has all The West virginia soldiers that
- 23:02Speaker 3: departed us because of the.
- 23:04Speaker 13: Conflict, okay that's all it. Is it's not it's not
- 23:07Speaker 13: a whole, wall, then.
- 23:09Speaker 3: No it's it's it's a whole, wall but it is
- 23:12Speaker 3: the wall that is just commemorating the soldiers that were
- 23:16Speaker 3: lost from The Mountain.
- 23:17Speaker 13: State you said that they were going to stop and
- 23:19Speaker 13: right now and spend the.
- 23:21Speaker 3: Night, yes, sir they that is an annual. Thing they've
- 23:25Speaker 3: been doing it for over thirty.
- 23:26Speaker 2: Years.
- 23:27Speaker 3: Uh the story is that.
- 23:28Speaker 13: Spend the night where The, paneer The pioneer hotels. Closed
- 23:33Speaker 13: where where are they? Going where are they going to
- 23:35Speaker 13: spend the?
- 23:36Speaker 3: Night they open up their, arms they open up the,
- 23:39Speaker 3: school they open up the, churches and the whole community
- 23:43Speaker 3: just absorbs. Them as it may. Be the story there
- 23:46Speaker 3: is that one time there was only thirty of them
- 23:49Speaker 3: and they were trying to they were traveling on the,
- 23:51Speaker 3: turnpike and the gentlemen, said we'd like to pay for
- 23:56Speaker 3: all thirty riders at one. Time he, said, no each
- 23:59Speaker 3: rider is going to have to, stop and they decided
- 24:02Speaker 3: to make another, route and that route took them through
- 24:04Speaker 3: Ray now and they pulled in there and they've been
- 24:06Speaker 3: welcomed ever.

- 24:11Speaker 2: don't know THAT i knew that entire. Backstory that's good.
- 24:13Speaker 2: Stuff it is. Great and.
- 24:18Speaker 3: What we find when they come here, is for, instance
- 24:23Speaker 3: On thursday when they, depart all the elementary school students
- 24:28Speaker 3: from The Nitro Elementary school will come out and meet
- 24:31Speaker 3: and greet the. Riders then they will all say the
- 24:34Speaker 3: pledge of allegiance in. Unison it's kind of really, neat
- 24:38Speaker 3: it really.
- 24:38Speaker 2: Is that's good. Stuff so that is the run for the.
- 24:41Speaker 2: Wall the gang will run for the wall that's coming
- 24:42Speaker 2: Through nitro again this. Year that's going to be. Tomorrow
- 24:44Speaker 2: and when to arrive In nitro around five fifteen is

- 26:25Speaker 13: well now there's Three democrats on, it which kind of
- 26:29Speaker 13: funny really when you. Think but when when there's when
- 26:34Speaker 13: you go to The Intermediate court Of appeals and whether
- 26:39Speaker 13: you win or whether you, lose only ten percent of
- 26:42Speaker 13: those cases go to The Western Supreme. Court is that?
- 26:47Speaker 3: Right?
- 26:47Speaker 13: Yeah so in other, words the intermediate court in ninety
- 26:51Speaker 13: percent of the cases becomes the court of last. Resort
- 26:57Speaker 13: it is, incredible it, IS i, mean and it's But Judge,

- 27:34Speaker 13: i want to talk. ABOUT i don't know if people
- 27:37Speaker 13: know of the Evangelist James. Robinson he was A tv
- 27:45Speaker 13: evangelist and when he was a young, man like in the,
- 27:50Speaker 13: seventies and he would preach about Like Jerry lewis would
- 27:55Speaker 13: play the. Piano his hair would go, everywhere and and
- 28:01Speaker 13: but he was part of The Moral. Majority and there
- 28:07Speaker 13: was a gathering of those people in nineteen. Eighty they
- 28:12Speaker 13: had a big. Audience reagan was on the. Stage he
- 28:16Speaker 13: was sitting with him next to Doctor James kennedy From Fort.

- 28:48Speaker 14: people to come out.
- 28:49Speaker 13: Of the calls It jameson he that was the atmosphere
- 28:57Speaker 13: in the. Place And robinson WAS i liked. HIM i
- 29:02Speaker 13: MEAN i didn't have anything against. HIM i watch him ON.
- 29:05Speaker 13: Tv he would appear with his wife a.
- 29:08Speaker 2: Lot But.
- 29:11Speaker 13: I'll never forget that, speech you, know and him, him
- 29:17Speaker 13: and that's you, KNOW i Think fallwell came up with
- 29:20Speaker 13: The Moral. Majority Name another thing had happened this, week
- 29:25Speaker 13: if you want to get into, It Mark furman.
- 29:27Speaker 2: Died did he really the police officer FROM J Simpson.

- 29:32Speaker 13: He died and he had, wow aggressive throat.
- 29:37Speaker 2: CANCER i remember him HAVING i remember him being, Diagnosed
- 29:41Speaker 2: SO i guess that doesn't he. Was it's amazing that

- 29:48Speaker 2: a particular. Time he's a. GUY i guarantee IF i
- 29:51Speaker 2: would look up him, TODAY i probably wouldn't recognize him
- 29:54Speaker 2: BECAUSE i remember him so well from both of those
- 29:57Speaker 2: COURT tv e clips and everything. Else you, Know i'm
- 29:59Speaker 2: sure THAT i. Right and he was a commentator for.
- 30:01Speaker 13: What, yeah he worked For. Fox he had he had
- 30:05Speaker 13: A tv show and if you go To Fox, nation
- 30:10Speaker 13: which is the that platform they, have he has a
- 30:14Speaker 13: bunch of shows about twenty twenty five minutes of, crimes
- 30:24Speaker 13: of analyzing. Trials some of them you knew, about some
- 30:28Speaker 13: of them you, didn't and they're very. Good and he
- 30:31Speaker 13: does The kennedy. Assassination oh that's, interesting and he does
- 30:35Speaker 13: it differently than. Anybody and what he said made more
- 30:38Speaker 13: sense than. Anybody of. Course I'm i'm A i'm a
- 30:41Speaker 13: guy that think that they saw The kennedy thing.
- 30:46Speaker 9: That.
- 30:46Speaker 13: NIGHT i, MEAN i think The Dallas i'm a one.
- 30:49Speaker 13: MAN i think it Was. Oswalden that's. It it is
- 30:52Speaker 13: what it, is, yeah, Yeah AND i think The Dallas
- 30:55Speaker 13: Police department had that thinks saw that. Night but he did.
- 30:59Speaker 13: That he was very. Smart but his whole life was
- 31:04Speaker 13: defined by one, thing and that was THE n word
- 31:10Speaker 13: and him using it on that tape when he was
- 31:15Speaker 13: doing a play or. Something and they found the tape
- 31:19Speaker 13: and Flee bailey to ask him if he'd used the
- 31:24Speaker 13: word in the last ten, years and he said, no
- 31:26Speaker 13: and actually it was nine years that he'd made that,
- 31:30Speaker 13: tape so he had to plead. No he pled no
- 31:34Speaker 13: contest of perjury and retired from the from the police, department.
- 31:43Speaker 2: And he wrote.
- 31:43Speaker 13: Books and he Wrote murder In brentwood that was ABOUT. O. J.
- 31:48Speaker 13: Simpson but he also Wrote murder In, greenwich which was
- 31:53Speaker 13: a much better, book and it's about the murder Of Martha.
- 31:58Speaker 13: Moxley she was fifteen years old and she was in
- 32:06Speaker 13: her bedroom and that, NIGHT.
- 32:11Speaker 2: I, Mean.
- 32:14Speaker 13: I'm getting ahead of, myself he got up in a.
- 32:17Speaker 13: Tree what's his, Name Michael. Skakel, now even though he
- 32:25Speaker 13: got the case stone, out he was guilty and it
- 32:28Speaker 13: was it was.
- 32:31Speaker 2: It was his.
- 32:31Speaker 13: Book furman's book that got him, tried that created interest
- 32:37Speaker 13: in the, case is that, Right, yeah that got him on.
- 32:40Speaker 13: Trial Dominic dunn Liked furim AND i think he felt
- 32:44Speaker 13: sorry for him and told him ill to go up
- 32:47Speaker 13: there and write about. It and he. Did next, thing you,
- 32:49Speaker 13: Know Michael skakeele is, indicted convicted.
- 32:53Speaker 3: And spend eleven eleven years in.
- 32:56Speaker 13: Prison and he then they got his lawyer for. Incomfidence
- 33:06Speaker 13: and he was A kennedy you, know he Was Bobby
- 33:11Speaker 13: kennedy's mother is A. Skagel, okay you're with.
- 33:17Speaker 2: Me, Yeah i'm with.
- 33:18Speaker 13: You, Yeah and he. Was he was a nephew and
- 33:23Speaker 13: a first cousin to To Bobby, kennedy the one that's
- 33:27Speaker 13: working For trump. Now and he The kennedy clan got
- 33:34Speaker 13: involved and got him out of. Jail but he. Was
- 33:37Speaker 13: he spent eleven years in, jail and he was.
- 33:39Speaker 2: Guilty it's, interesting, Though, furman you know that all those
- 33:43Speaker 2: different things happened to. Him he was able to parlay.
- 33:46Speaker 2: THAT i, mean as we've just talked about, HERE i
- 33:47Speaker 2: mean pretty successful career as a broadcaster as an investigator into.
- 33:51Speaker 2: This it sounds like that is that his stuff was
- 33:53Speaker 2: pretty pretty, relevant that he. Smart he kind of had
- 33:58Speaker 2: the last laugh on that he got.
- 33:59Speaker 13: To BE i don't know about, that but he he
- 34:02Speaker 13: was Very he became friends With alanwitz And dershowitz generously
- 34:13Speaker 13: said he was a great. Detective he wasn't much of a,
- 34:16Speaker 13: witness and but they they became. Friendly But i'll tell
- 34:24Speaker 13: you who. Else he became friends With. Oprah he was
- 34:28Speaker 13: On oprah, twice and he was on once and right
- 34:34Speaker 13: after the, trial and then nine years.
- 34:36Speaker 2: LATER i remember the one right after the, TRIAL i do, remember.

- 40:25Speaker 2: else in your mind that's ringing bell to your lifewhere.
- 40:28Speaker 13: ELSE i have never seen what went on in this
- 40:34Speaker 13: election with the governor involving himself in The republican. Primaries
- 40:44Speaker 13: i've never seen.
- 40:44Speaker 3: It and.
- 40:46Speaker 13: You know They takubo on the transgender. Team what do
- 40:53Speaker 13: you think anybody that would run and add like that
- 41:01Speaker 13: is has any interest in the state of westfrigim me
- 41:03Speaker 13: at all.
- 41:05Speaker 2: My, observation And i'm interested in what you think on
- 41:08Speaker 2: this because there's no question that that When Barack obama
- 41:13Speaker 2: ran for, president he did major damage to reputation Of.
- 41:17Speaker 2: DEMOCRATS i, mean he hurt the reputation in this state
- 41:20Speaker 2: as far As democrat. Goes he lost the state. BASICALLY i,
- 41:22Speaker 2: mean regardless of whatever the reasons were behind. It you
- 41:24Speaker 2: can blame media or anything. Else that's what, happened and
- 41:28Speaker 2: that was a running against him was a winning strategy For.
- 41:31Speaker 2: Republicans the problem THAT i saw that up until really
- 41:35Speaker 2: just this last election, cycle is that still became the.
- 41:38Speaker 2: Heuristic the shortcut was running Against. Obama AND i think
- 41:41Speaker 2: what's happened is in the vacuum of their and the
- 41:47Speaker 2: vacuum of their, being of their being a competitive, party
- 41:50Speaker 2: necessarily that that same strategy turned, internal you, know so
- 41:55Speaker 2: you're just finding basically anything that you're going to get.
- 41:58Speaker 2: People so the run Against obama became short of a
- 42:01Speaker 2: shortcut to just running against everything they believe, in whatever
- 42:04Speaker 2: that might. Be it wasn't even necessarily the man as
- 42:07Speaker 2: much as as the impression that that. Gave AND i
- 42:10Speaker 2: feel like that that's what some of these ads and
- 42:12Speaker 2: different things like that. Are there's no villain of the other.
- 42:15Speaker 2: Parties so we have to we have to bring in
- 42:17Speaker 2: these culture, issues these things that make people think a certain,
- 42:19Speaker 2: way just by bringing them, up regardless if it's accurate or.
- 42:23Speaker 13: Not IF i hear the word, values.
- 42:27Speaker 2: What are Your West virginia, Values, Danny, Danny, well do
- 42:30Speaker 2: you Have West virginia? Values are you saying you don't
- 42:31Speaker 2: Have West virginia? Values what are your? Values?
- 42:33Speaker 13: WELL i mean IF i hear that one politician is
- 42:38Speaker 13: gonna tell define another politician's, values or it just there
- 42:47Speaker 13: was a guy that came to my restaurant and he
- 42:51Speaker 13: had a. Sign he was a country guy and he
- 42:55Speaker 13: had a red pickup truck and he had a sign on.
- 42:59Speaker 13: It he, Said i'm For i'm For, god against gays
- 43:13Speaker 13: and for. Guns and that was. It that was this, campaign, Right.
- 43:17Speaker 2: And SO i mean SOMETIMES i mean the short, shorter
- 43:20Speaker 2: the shorter messaging does. Work. Uh let's, see.
- 43:28Speaker 13: Got somebody.
- 43:28Speaker 2: Else, yeah we got a couple of. Techs i'm just.
- 43:30Speaker 2: Trying there's some of them are kind of. Wordy SO
- 43:32Speaker 2: i want to show THAT i don't get halfway. Through.
- 43:33Speaker 2: Uh let's see from the six eight one four seven.
- 43:35Speaker 2: Four there has to be a way to get all
- 43:37Speaker 2: grade schools in the surrounding counties to be able to
- 43:39Speaker 2: go watch The run for The. Wall there's so much
- 43:41Speaker 2: hatred and loathing being pushed on younger generations about being
- 43:44Speaker 2: An american anymore instilled in a lot of these. Kids
- 43:47Speaker 2: it's time to bring the, patriots patriotism and love. Back
- 43:52Speaker 2: let's see IF i have a. Call, uh we do
- 43:54Speaker 2: have a call From. BOB i was wanna take that
- 43:55Speaker 2: right before we go to the. Break just a, Second. Bob,
- 43:57Speaker 2: uh let's, see here's from the threes or a four
- 43:59Speaker 2: Five coop always enjoy Hearing Mayor danny on the. Program
- 44:03Speaker 2: he has a wealth of his to work with. Knowledge thank,
- 44:05Speaker 2: you all, Right so let's go ahead and do this real.
- 44:07Speaker 2: Quick let's go ahead and Bring bob on the. Line
- 44:09Speaker 2: we'll Take bob's. Question we'll take our final break of the. Morning,
- 44:13Speaker 2: bob go, Ahead you're on the air with Maryor.
- 44:15Speaker 17: Jones danny with what morris he did in this last,
- 44:21Speaker 17: election with slander and smear jobs everywhere looking forward to twenty,
- 44:31Speaker 17: eight is that what he did gonna make it difficult
- 44:36Speaker 17: to Have democratic candidates that are qualified kind of shy
- 44:45Speaker 17: away from running because they If morrissey is protecting his,
- 44:55Speaker 17: governorship he's probably going to smear and slander a lot
- 45:00Speaker 17: worse On democrat candidates in twenty. Eight then he did this.
- 45:07Speaker 13: Well he didn't he did in the last time because
- 45:09Speaker 13: he didn't have. To Steve williams only got thirty one
- 45:12Speaker 13: percent of the. Vote the the the fight in THE
- 45:16Speaker 13: uh in the for the governor's race in twenty twenty
- 45:20Speaker 13: eight will be in The republican primary and it will
- 45:23Speaker 13: be Between morrisey and one other.
- 45:26Speaker 17: Person so are The democrats gonna have trouble getting qualified
- 45:31Speaker 17: candidates to step up because they know What morsey's going
- 45:36Speaker 17: to do to.
- 45:36Speaker 13: Them, no they, well they have qualified candidates to step.
- 45:42Speaker 13: Up they just they're just not doing. Well but It's
- 45:45Speaker 13: morsey doesn't have anything to do with. IT i mean,
- 45:48Speaker 13: no if they're gonna, run they're gonna. RUN i Think
- 45:50Speaker 13: Jeff kessler's, running isn't He he's running. Again, yeah he's
- 45:54Speaker 13: running for. Something he's a good, man and you gotta
- 45:56Speaker 13: he's not gonna.
- 45:56Speaker 2: Win but you got to remember political strategy pleas into
- 45:59Speaker 2: it sometimes, too like a manager that keeps his best
- 46:01Speaker 2: bat on the. Bench they might be waiting for the
- 46:03Speaker 2: most winnable. Race so there might be a god somewhere
- 46:06Speaker 2: that the guy or lady that they have somewhere in
- 46:08Speaker 2: mind maybe doesn't write next, cycle but the one after.
- 46:10Speaker 2: That maybe they think the environment will be. Better it's
- 46:13Speaker 2: hard to tell how that.
- 46:14Speaker 13: Work in The republican, Primary morrissey will have competition and
- 46:19Speaker 13: he will have it from Another republican and that's what
- 46:23Speaker 13: will decide the.
- 46:24Speaker 2: Race let's go ahead and take a. Break we'll come
