• 0:11
Hello friends, it's Sean here. It's Wednesday the 16th of April
• 0:17
and I hope you were going well. I hope that you are finding some
• 0:21
time in these days for some quiet reflection and even if
• 0:25
this is the only time you have today, then welcome friend, that
• 0:29
now you have a moment just to stop and to consider the
• 0:31
magnitude of Easter as we travel these last few days leading up
• 0:37
to this incredible weekend. Our come Holy Spirit, convict us
• 0:44
of all that you have done for us over this Easter.
• 0:51
And friends, today is a remarkable day.
• 0:53
This chapter is a chapter where you're ready.
• 0:58
God prays for you. It it seems a little ironic, but
• 1:04
this, this chapter is Jesus prayer for his disciples.
• 1:09
This is Jesus prayer for you, friend, and for me.
• 1:12
As we go about walking our daily lives beside him, He wants us to
• 1:18
be held in his own prayer and his own presence.
• 1:22
And this is that prayer. Oh, so good.
• 1:25
You ready to dive in with me? Yeah, good, Me too.
• 1:28
Let's read together John chapter 17.
• 1:42
After saying all these things, Jesus looked up to heaven and
• 1:46
said, Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son so He can give
• 1:54
back glory to You, for You have given Him authority over
• 1:59
everyone. He gives eternal life to each
• 2:02
one you have given Him. And this is the way to have
• 2:07
eternal life, to know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ,
• 2:14
the one you sent to earth. I brought glory to you here on
• 2:18
earth by completing the work you gave me to do.
• 2:22
Now, Father, bring me into the glory we shared before the world
• 2:26
began. I have revealed you to the ones
• 2:30
you gave me from this world. They were always yours.
• 2:35
You gave them to me and they have kept your word.
• 2:39
Now they know that everything I have is a gift from You, for I
• 2:44
have passed on to them the message you gave me.
• 2:48
They accepted it and know that I came from You and they believe
• 2:52
you sent me. My prayer is not for the world,
• 2:56
but for those you have given me, because they belong to You.
• 3:01
All who are mine belong to You, and you have given them to me,
• 3:06
so they bring me glory. Now I'm departing from the
• 3:10
world. They are staying in this world,
• 3:14
but I'm coming to you. Holy Father, You have given me
• 3:18
your name. Now protect them by the power of
• 3:22
your name, so that they will be united, just as we are.
• 3:27
During my time here, I protected them by the power of the name
• 3:30
you gave me. I guarded them so that not one
• 3:34
was lost, except the one headed for destruction, as the
• 3:38
scriptures foretold. Now I'm coming to you.
• 3:43
I told them many things while I was with them in this world so
• 3:47
they would be filled with my joy.
• 3:49
I've given them Your word, and the world hates them because
• 3:54
they do not belong to the world, just as I do not belong to the
• 3:57
world. I'm not asking you to take them
• 4:00
out of the world, but to keep them safe from the evil one.
• 4:05
They do not belong to this world any more than I do.
• 4:09
Make them holy by Your truth. Teach them Your Word, which is
• 4:14
truth. Just as you sent me into the
• 4:17
world, I'm sending them into the world, and I give myself as a
• 4:23
holy sacrifice for them so they can be made holy by your truth.
• 4:30
I'm praying not only for these disciples, but also for all who
• 4:34
will ever believe in me through their message.
• 4:37
I pray that they will all be one, just as you and I are one
• 4:43
as you are in me, Father, and I am in You, and may they be in us
• 4:49
so that the world will believe you sent me.
• 4:53
I've given them the glory you gave me, so they may be one as
• 4:58
we are one. I'm in them and You are in me.
• 5:03
May they experience such perfect unity that the world will know
• 5:07
that you sent me and that you love them as much as you love
• 5:12
me. Father, I want these whom you
• 5:16
have given me to be with me where I am.
• 5:20
Then I can see all the glory you gave me because you loved me
• 5:25
even before the world began. Our righteous Father, the world
• 5:31
doesn't know you, but I do. And these disciples know you
• 5:36
sent me. I have revealed you to them, and
• 5:40
I will continue to do so. Then your love for me will be in
• 5:45
them and I will be in them. Our Father, thank you for your
• 5:59
love for us, and as much as you love Jesus even before the world
• 6:04
began, that is the same love that here we hear Jesus telling
• 6:09
us that you have for us. Well that's mind blowing.
• 6:14
Father, thank you for your love and your inclusion in your
• 6:18
family. And we hear Jesus, your prayer,
• 6:24
and the one thing you pray more than anything else is that we
• 6:28
would have unity with each other.
• 6:32
Oh, Lord, it's our relationships with each other.
• 6:35
It's our Christian brothers and sisters and the way that we live
• 6:37
together that's going to show the world your love and your
• 6:43
love for them and that you sent Jesus to teach us all about you.
• 6:52
So give us an extra measure of your love.
• 6:56
May we find forgiveness, tolerance and love, yes, love
• 7:01
for each other, for our Christian brothers and sisters
• 7:04
so that together we can be a beacon shining out your love to
• 7:10
all around us in a way that shocks people into a double take
• 7:17
where they look back and they see you.
• 7:21
Come, Holy Spirit, transform us from the inside so that we can
• 7:26
  love like you. Do.
• 7:29
We pray all of this in your loving name, Jesus, Amen.
