- Ted Turner: Greetings everyone. Welcome to Dogs Down South. It's a Wednesday night, so you know what that means. It's our live show where we will be looking at Vanderbilt tonight, previewing Vanderbilt, doing our picks. We're gonna talk about a little bit of of everything tonight. What's up, fish? How's your week going, my friend? Adam Fisher: What's up man? Good. Just want you to know that that intro is so catchy. I'll be singing the song all day tomorrow. That's what happened to me last week. I was just dogs down south. It's awesome. Ted Turner: That was so cool, man. That was so cool, man. great, great time to be a Georgia dog, man. 4-0, ranked number two in the country, and the Bulldogs are coming off a statement 41 to 13 win over Oklahoma. now it's homecoming in Athens, right? but before we get into Vanderbilt, fish, I've been thinking about what we call this every week, but I'm gonna for tonight call it swimming in the fish tank. Or maybe just taking a dip in the tank with fish. But Adam Fisher: There you go. Ted Turner: give me your give me your thoughts, man, on Oklahoma. If you didn't already do so, my recap show that I did was up Monday night. You can go catch it on Apple Podcasts or YouTube. But fish, give me your really, really short recap on what you thought about the Oklahoma game. Adam Fisher: I just remember the whole preseason or off season, mind you. we everybody was talking about this is gonna be our one of our hardest games, best defense we'll see all year. I don't know, man. Like this version of Oklahoma is not what everybody thought it was gonna be for sure. And but I also like to think at the same time that we're just that good, maybe. Maybe. Maybe. You know, like I don't wanna eat the rat poison, but you know mean we're still flying under the radar nationally if you ask anybody that works for ESPN. but it was a it was another, you know, two, two and a half quarter game. And then took our foot off the gas and, you know, started subbing in people and kinda got sloppy and but, you know, we haven't had a four quarter game all season and I don't think we're gonna get one this weekend either. Bama is looking like it's gonna be our first true test. But I was very happy with offense. Defense looked good. I think Pass Pro was a little susceptible. You know, gotta tighten some things up on that for sure. run game even without Nate Frazier was was still dominant. You know, Chauncey is just taking full advantage of Nate Frazier being out. And he's making him you know, he's making a name for himself. And so was Daldell, dude. Like you know, like both our running backs look really good. Or Dwight Phillips, I'm sorry, you know. Ted Turner: My Phillips, yeah. Adam Fisher: They they both looked really good. In fact I think Dwight Phillips got game ball or something like that. very very Ted Turner: Right. Adam Fisher: pleased though, all around. It was a good look it was a good game. Not too shabby. Ted Turner: Yeah, I think I described it as a lot more went right than wrong. And like I said last week, we we agree on a lot, but I do think their defense was one of the best defenses we'll see this year. And a lot of people will say, Well, you hadn't seen Alabama yet. Well, you know, I understand that, but you know, as I mentioned, it's the only thing I will say because I gave my recap Monday. But, you know, corners are top top Two maybe three round picks next year. The secondary is really good. Kip Lewis is unreal. he's a guy that I would say outside of just Chris Cole and linebackers we see every day, right? Kip Lewis looked like he had another gear. He was everywhere on the field, had a ton of tackles. The defensive line for Oklahoma is no joke. Stone, even even you could tell Stone was not himself. But I think in in my opinion, Turnovers got overwhelming. It put the defense from Oklahoma in a lot of bad situations. But when we have the opportunity, it's really good to see us run the ball against a really good run defense in Oklahoma. And it's even better to see us have explosive plays against an Oklahoma defense that I think is stingy. We obviously know there's just a lot of problems on the offense. so I would have to agree with you. Adam Fisher: I mean, we only had I'm sorry, we only had like three hundred and six total yards of offense, but we still managed forty one points. You know, so I mean Ted Turner: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Adam Fisher: it's not like they played like they didn't show up at all. Like we had to earn those points. Ted Turner: As Kirby would say, man, the the the difference in the blowouts this year has been winning the turnover margin, which I will tell you this, we all hope as dog fans continues because it's really cool to see us get a little bit of an edge on what most of the time in pr in previous years, I feel like we've lost some of the turnover margin. and we've had to like overcome that, right? And we've had to just grind it out and score points. And it's I mean, defense is scoring points, defense is putting us in opportunities to have short fields. It's just nice, man. And and I understand that everybody's like with a level of competition, well, there's a lot of sports writers that are that are wondering if Arkansas can beat Texas A and this week, right? So they you know, everybody looked at Tulsa and Arkansas and then Arkansas comes out and defense looks better and offense is clicking a little bit on bell on on off course cylinders. They actually went with one quarterback, K J Jackson. So I think you look at Oklahoma that it so it it's It's the SEC, man. And our schedule, we're gonna see here in a minute, our schedule got even harder this year because of the Floridas and because of some of these teams that were a little bit different than ever everybody thought they would be, right? let me ask you one question about the game, Fish. What do you what do you think? 'Cause I I gave a couple of these, but what do you think what what were what was one thing you took away from the game that you go, this has to change if we're gonna win a national championship this year? What has to change from that game? moving forward to win a national championship for Georgia. Adam Fisher: Pass protection. Need I mean Gunner Gunner, you know, he's been doing a great job. And I and you know, it's almost nitpicking, you know, through the first four games. It's like you you kind of have to look for for things, you know. There's no glaring, obvious, you know, one thing that just has to improve. I think we look a lot better than a lot of people thought we would this year. I mean, I guarantee you nobody expected us to be averaging over fifty points a game through the first four games of the season, even with the first two, you know, nobodies that we played. Because, you know, Arkansas SEC Ted Turner: Yeah, not a chance. Yeah. Adam Fisher: team, Oklahoma, best defense in one of the best top five deep defense in the nation. You know, we weren't supposed to score forty one points, if you ask preseason us. You know, that we weren't gonna get forty one in that game. So, you know, I think we're overachieving. as far as that goes. You know, we we we haven't played a complete game yet this year, but we you know, we that's all that's gonna change heading into late October, early November. Ted Turner: Yeah, I agree. I I thought about it even since Monday and once again being nitpicky, but I definitely think we need some improvements. The game plan was allow the Dincan dumps, keep everything in front of us, make Mathir beat us with explosive plays with his legs and beat us deep. And, you know, we did, we gave away the middle of the field. I'm hoping that we gave away the middle of the field, but I'm also hoping that we understand that. Teams like Alabama, even Vanderbilt will take advantage of the middle of the field. And there's probably a couple more athletes definitely on Alabama's team that can expose that. And so I'm just hoping that was a game plan thing. So I don't it it it's jury's still out on that because I know the you know, this weekend in Athens, we're gonna talk about it here. It's supposed to be some nasty weather in Athens this weekend. So we're looking at three to five inches of rain, projected for Athens Adam Fisher: Please. Ted Turner: this weekend, and so it could be a different definitely a different game plan, but Adam Fisher: Yes. Ted Turner: That's good to hear, man. And so as we put Oklahoma to bed, the Sooners are heading on to an off week and then they'll come back Adam Fisher: More light later. Ted Turner: and have their hands full. what's that? Adam Fisher: More light later. It was a dumb joke, sorry. It was so stupid. Ted Turner: Right, no, you're good. a bye week and then they're heading into Red River against Texas. but for Georgia, it's homecoming in Athens. Vanderbilt's coming to Sanford Stadium. Vanderbilt's three and one, Fish. I mean, they're they're coming off a twenty one to fifteen loss at Auburn. they're looking to pull off a major upset against the number two team in the country. interesting storyline, obviously, that the the elephant in the room. So let's go ahead and get it out of the way. Jerry Curtis once committed to Georgia. ultimately ending up in Vanderbilt. So the first time that we thought we would see Jerry Curtis in this stadium would be in the red and black, but he's going to be in the golden black. first take on that, like how do you feel about that situation, Jerry Curtis, and how all that's kind of landed? And you think Georgia fans are going to be a little bit it's going to be a little bit different atmosphere because of this. And do you think he's going to drive the dynamic of this narrative this weekend? Adam Fisher: I mean, I hope not. He shouldn't. I mean if he adds to the electricity, you know, if he adds to the environment, you know, the crowd noise, then great. You know, I don't think the players feel slighted. I think they're gonna go out there and they're just gonna handle business. I don't think it's gonna be a big deal. They might try to hit him a little harder, you know, they might lean on him a little bit more when they're pulling into the ground, you know, for a sack or something or they tackle him. You know, but outside of that, I mean, meh. You know, can't hate on the kid too bad. I mean sure it sucks a little bit, but I mean are we I mean that's that's a next year problem, I guess, because he wasn't gonna start for us this year. So, you know, maybe next year I'll be a little upset if, you know, Poglisi or Montgomery don't pan out or, you know, we don't get somebody in there that's a good replacement for Gunnar, then maybe I'll feel a little bad. But right now, you know, don't hate on the kid too bad. He he did what he thought he had to do. Ted Turner: Yeah, you know, Jared Curtis is a really good athlete, man. He he has good wheels. He's he's particularly strong for his age, very very strong arm. We've seen him kind of flick some balls into areas of the defense against Auburn on the run that were very impressive. So he's an impressive kid. And, you know, and Vanderbilt, as we're gonna see here in a second, they don't have a lot of the supporting cast that they had in the past with Diego Pavia. but this team is is gonna get better. Clark Lee is a really good coach. I think it's early in the season, might be a good time to catch Vanderbilt. Cause I got a feeling if you catch Vanderbilt towards towards the end of the season, and some of these teams that have like are cakewalking into the playoffs, possibly in the SEC or you know, whatever variable you catch them in, they could be hitting on all cylinders. And Curtis has that that moxie he needs to go out and throw a big game. We obviously hope that he hasn't experienced that in, you know, within five games coming into Athens, but You know, I I think the big question is is is this actually an advantage for Georgia because Kirby, you know, and his staff know Curtis? I mean, we recruited Jerry Curtis really hard. Or does that familiarity make, you know, Curtis more dangerous because he knows something about Georgia's system? I mean, any any any lean towards that, Fish? Adam Fisher: I I don't think so. I think Kirby's seen him the all the all he needs to see from the past two games. I mean you're not gonna learn a lot about him from what we l like knew about him coming out of high school. I mean, maybe a little, but not really 'cause that's a completely different game. You know, it's it's a different level of competition, you know. So I I don't think so. I think Kirby all he's gonna need to see is what he saw the past two weeks that he started and played, you know, and that's we'll learn what we need to learn from that. Ted Turner: Yeah. I mean I will be honest with you. I I've started to question myself that I'm a little bit too nice on our shows and so I decided Adam Fisher: Yeah. Ted Turner: that we were gonna turn a we were gonna turn a new leaf over in week five and I was gonna actually speak more of my mind. But I think I think Jerry Curtis made a huge mistake. Like I think he made a huge mistake. I think he's experienced it already. I think he's thought about it. I think when you look at the dynamic of his path to how it could have been And we all look at Buck Lesey and we're not looking too far ahead of Montgomery and we like some things we see. But Jared Curtis would have probably been the guy ne this time next year for Georgia in a team that will is very young and it will be returning a lot of really good players. And so I think Jared Curtis made a huge mistake. I mean, and maybe I'm biased because we're Georgia fans, but you know, Vanderbilt is just I mean, Clark Lee's a good coach, man, but If you ask me, I don't think Clark Lee's gonna be retiring at Vanderbilt. I think Clark Lee is gonna be taking the next best bus he can to the next best job as soon as he possibly can. And that's just my opinion. But I think Jerry Curtis made a huge mistake. But Adam Fisher: Yeah. Ted Turner: and I'm not I'm not being very superstitious this year either, but go ahead. Adam Fisher: No, no, I completely agree with you. It's almost like you know, Vandy being good. It's like a flash in the pan, like Duke winning the ACC championship last year with like six wins or seven wins. You know, it's you know, it's it's hit and miss, but their basketball schools are, you know, Vandy's never been known for football. They're a better baseball they're a baseball school, if anything. You know, that's the most recent national championship they have. or maybe one of the only. Who knows? Anyway, you know, just I yeah, you're right. I completely agree a hundred percent. Clark Lee might even be out after this year. If there's a right job if the right Ted Turner: I mean Adam Fisher: job opens up for him. Ted Turner: Listen, and we're gonna talk towards the end. There could be some job openings. So but let's Adam Fisher: Ha ha ha. Ted Turner: let's look at some quick numbers. Georgia averages about fifty-four, man, fifty-four point eight points per game. When's the last time we heard that? Five games into the season, Fish. Two hundred and twenty-three Adam Fisher: Yeah. I don't remember. Ted Turner: point three rushing yards per game, two fifty-eight passing, very balanced. I think that speaks to the four and record, regardless of the the opponent on the other side. Four hundred and eighty total yards per game, thirteen point three points allowed per game. And I think a lot of that, I think it's more like half of that really. I think you could you could actually argue that seven points of that is always a second or third string, if not more. fifteen and a half rushing yards allowed per game, that's wild. 182 passing yards plus five. Plus five on the turnover margin is a huge number. Adam Fisher: Love that. Ted Turner: Vanderbilt, really quick, twenty eight point three points per game, 132 point five rushing yards per game, two thirty one in the air. For 363, 21.8 points allowed per game, 116 rushing yards per game. That's a stat to look at. 194 Adam Fisher: Ooh. Ted Turner: passing yards allowed and the plus one on the turnover margin. so so you look at the you look at the stats, a little unbalanced. before we talk about like specific players, like like what do you think, Fish, if there's a game plan? You look at statistics, you look at Vanderbilt, you look at the body of work of what Clark Lee usually brings and what Kirby looks to bring to games like this. This is a twelve forty five kickoff SEC network, maybe sloppy in Athens. Like what do you think game plan looks like for this game if you're if you're including it could be raining and it could be really nasty. Adam Fisher: This is another one of those games where I think Kirby wants to put it to bed early. I think he wants to leave no doubt early. this will be another two, two and a half quarter, maybe not even that, may just be a two quarter game. And then you know all the backups and everybody's gonna come in, you know. I don't think Nate Frazier needs to play. Maybe he needs to get a few carries, maybe five or six, just to stay not, you know, just to not get rusty, you know, to get him Back kinda easing back into the flow after taking Oklahoma game off. he was dressed for that game though, just didn't play. which was smart. turns out we didn't you know Chauncey Chauncey and Phillips just showed out like you know, Nate it was okay for Nate not to play in that game, which is wild because it's you know an Oklahoma defense that is heralded as you know top you know top defense. Ted Turner: Mm-hmm. Adam Fisher: I just don't want to What really upset me last week, and I don't want to see that this week, which I don't think we will, but I don't want to get past happy in the third quarter. Like I was I think I was texting in all caps run the dang ball. So like I'm pretty sure I said it two or three times. Like, I mean not that that's that's just the MO, I guess, and that's just what I'm used to, but that those passes weren't hitting. And I guess if they'd been hitting that would have been one thing. But they weren't. You know, it just looked ugly. It's like we completely took our foot off the gas and just started trying stuff because we thought it might work. Ted Turner: Yeah, and I was humbled a little bit. I mean, I I made a third quarter video of and you know, mine was more based off of we know that our offense is built around when the run is successful, it opens up the pass for us. I really feel like that is balance is the key, which you're seeing a lot with these SEC offenses. I think, you know, sidebarring Florida this year and their success on offense. I mean, Buster Faulkner What people may not know is Buster Faulkner was on staff at UGA for a long, long time. And so he he was a coach for Kirby. His his philosophy is balanced and why his numbers are are chart rocking this year as far as statistics and what he's been able to do at Florida so quickly is because of Jaden Baugh and this run game and the balance that it's allowing the pass. But that's a whole nother story, but but I think fish that We had a really good defense on the field. I think Georgia and Kirby felt like the game was pretty decently at hand. And I think he knows with the next three or four games coming up, if we had to get into a moment where we're gonna have to sit back, throw the football, I think he wanted him and Bobo wanted to see let's let's just see what would happen. Let's air it out. And I get it, but I maybe would have gone about it a different way where it was more of a balanced attack and less of I just felt like we were snapping the ball and just kind of slinging it around the the field. And so I agree with you on Adam Fisher: Just you know, snap. Ted Turner: one half, but I was humbled a little bit by a couple people that told me, Well, maybe maybe they were just trying to stretch the offense a little bit, kind of seeing where we're at. But I would'll I would have wanted a little bit of more of a balance in there, maybe for me. but right. I mean Adam Fisher: Yeah. At least run it on first down or something. Like, you know, just just gimme one little run play and then then second you know, play Ted Turner: I think we Adam Fisher: action on second and then you know, whatever. Ted Turner: I think our caps are all caps in the group text that together immediately after I posted Adam Fisher: Yeah. Ted Turner: posted something in the chat, sixty-two yard hit by Dwight Phillips, and I'm like, there we go. Like it's like, you know, not that we honestly, Kirby's probably saying, Look, if we leave here with 300 yards rushing and up sixty-one to three, we're not accomplishing anything if we get to a team like which Alabama's done to us in the past. Alabama who goes look. Cade Walmack is Cade Walmack is going to stack the box. And I don't want to get too far ahead of this, but he's going to stack the box and he's going to challenge Gunnar Stockton to beat us. And so kudos to the coaching staff if that was their mindset. But that's about all I can say because if that wasn't their mindset, we were we were really far off as far as not the just the average fan, like we're guys who watch the game and we're not really sideline coaches. We're just kind of thinking, what are we doing sometimes, right? So names to note, obviously we talked about Jerry Curtis. I think you'll see him a lot. he he's definitely the ingrained starter. Cedric Alexander has been at a has been at Vanderbilt for a couple of year now a couple of years now. He's he's basically the sole rushing attack, 165 yards, three rushing touchdowns. George's defense presents a a completely different challenge for him, right? this is a guy, I mean, George is very, very fast on the edges. This is a this is a little bit more of a back who likes to. Bounce it outside, do those certain things. This is gonna be a if everything pans out, this is gonna be a very long day if Georgia's defense is on because we're fast. But it but far as those between the tackle bruisers, we haven't seen that yet this year. Another name that another name that comes to mind is Junior Sheryl, biggest receiving threat for them, three hundred and sixty seven yards, receiving ninety one point eight yards per game, two receiving touchdowns. He's fifth in the S E C in receiving yards. and when you look at Vanderbilt's defense, I think when when You know, when you look at what problems it may present, Georgia is the same thing you just said. The one thing that is happening for Vanderbilt this year is they are getting pressure on the quarterback for the most part with the teams they're playing. Vanderbilt has Nick Rinaldi leading the team with three and a half sacks. And, you know, Clark Lee's a defensive guy. So you're definitely gonna see, regardless of talent and regardless of you know, I guess man on man, cap on cap. you're gonna see good scheme from Clark Lee, right? but let's let's pose some questions around this about the matchup, right? because obviously when I look at Georgia players to watch fish, but as far as the matchup, as far as Vanderbilt, as far as 1245, as far as rainy day, I'm gonna I'm gonna talk about the other elephant in the room. Maybe, maybe Jerry Curtis was the pink elephant in the room, but here's the blue elephant in the room, right? This could very much be a trap game, not for necessarily, I think, Or a loss for Georgia, but this could be a trap game. It's one of those games that could feel like it could be a very mundane, like what happened to Georgia's offense? Where's our defense? What what happened to our defense? Why are we not like you ever felt that when you were sitting some you were going, man, this could be one of those games we watch and go, what happened in the first four games and wh why is it not showing up? Why is it so important a week like this for Kirby to maybe even coach much harder to get his team up for a game like this this week? And naturally next week at seven thirty on ABC on a Saturday night, there's no we don't have to give you a pat on the back and a kick in the butt to get ready for that game, right? So why is it gonna be Adam Fisher: That's right. Ted Turner: naturally harder for Kirby to get them ready for this game this weekend? Adam Fisher: Gotta stay locked in. I mean, you can't take games off. This is a nine game SEC schedule and the toughest conference from top to bottom in the nation. And that's just not me saying that because I'm biased or anything like that, because I live in Georgia, you know, a lifelong Georgia fan. Like this it's facts. You know, look. Check it out. Google it, as Kurt Signetti would say. you know, you gotta s you gotta stay locked in, dude. I mean the These team any team we play is capable of putting together a game plan and a game to to keep up or even beat us. And just because it's Vandy, like nobody thought we were gonna do that to Oklahoma. You know, and I thought we were gonna get the best game they've played all year and but well, that didn't pan out. But usually that's the case. Usually that's what happens to us is we get everyone's best game. And, you know, if we get Vandy's best game, we gotta be ready. Yeah, just because it's Vandy doesn't mean anything. It's not like they haven't been good in the past, the recent years, you know. I know a lot of that was Diego, but most of it was Clark Lee. And he's still there. And he's still calling Ted Turner: I agree. Yeah. Adam Fisher: you know, he's still running things. So you gotta stay gotta stay sharp, man. Ted Turner: Yeah, and I think you can get you could get kind of loaded up in, you know, how Vanderbilt has gone about their business this year. I mean, they're a they're a twenty-one fifteen defeat to Auburn, which to go into Jordan Hare with a first year quarterback, that's his second, you know, second game starting for Vanderbilt. And it didn't feel that close, but you kind of think he feels good. about not going into Auburn and getting blown out and it's giving him a little wind in his sails. so he comes back and now a little more hype for him is he's going into Georgia and he's he's like this is where I was supposed to play. You know, the biggest thing is, you know, for the defense is is like is the pressure on the defense because it's like, okay, Jared Curtis is one of gonna want to make a great showing for his family that's probably going to be there and every single person that's going to be, I mean you just know our student section and our fans are gonna be in his case very early on. and so speaking of that, like the the people he has to deal with, and I'm and I was very extensive on shout outs to the defense, but you know, players that are just it it seems like an even biased opinion, but this is national and and you know sports media that's talking about all these guys. Every one of these names are popping up. I mean Chris Cole obviously KJ Bolden Justin Williams, Demelo Jones, Raylan Wilson, a lot of these guys. This is a defense this year that if I'm Jerry Curtis and this is my third true start on the road, I mean, it's kind of like the LSU and the Ole Miss game lining up. This is this is like the lean Kiffin thing, but for Jerry Curtis, right? But on the other side, there's a defense over there that you're just like, my gosh. Like I do know where I went. But I also do know what I turned down, right? How daunting is that gonna be to s to see speed, speed and physical like elusiveness of this defense right now at a game that is still trying to slow down for Jared Curtis as a freshman. Like, how daunting is that gonna be for Curtis on Saturday? Adam Fisher: Yeah, this isn't the game where he gets comfortable and settle and you know and settles down and settles in, I don't think. You know, like you said, and and all respect to DJ Durkitt, you know, he's a great defensive coordinator, but we got we have way more dudes than Auburn has. He's about to see a completely different defense this weekend. And I don't I don't I don't expect him to weather it very well at all. I'm expecting a couple of turnovers, especially if it's a sloppy game. If it's a wet game, our defense is gonna thrive. Ted Turner: Yeah. Yeah, man. I it it's just a it's a thing that kind of goes in my mind when I was looking at like, all right, Jerry Curtis, and I'm I'm like, Well, hold on, Georgia, right? This defense, like, they're looking at Jerry Curtis going, buddy, like you have the opportunity to come here and you're looking for this game to slow down, but if you think Auburn's defense and you think some of these defenses you've seen have been fast and you you're not seeing it every day in practice like Gunnar is, but It's gonna be a different game plan and maybe the rain actually works in his advantage as far as the game plan because if it if it if it was a little bit more of a vanilla playbook because of rain and and you know, torrential downpours and you know, so run the football type game, he might that might be grateful as far as or he might be grateful for that. as far as what he has to go in, he's expected to produce. But I I think I think, you know, as far as laying it out there, you can see How important it is for number I think three things we get from this is, you know, Jerry Curtis is gonna come in and he knows where he's at. I think Vanderbilt as a whole, as a defense that is good enough to Clark Lee's good enough to draw up scheme to not allow us to just be dormant. We're gonna have to work for stuff and for our sake, not look past Vanderbilt. We don't wanna have a sludgy, even though it might be a sludgy day, we don't wanna have a sludgy performance. To lead us up into Alabama, which crazily enough is adding up to be once again one of the biggest games on our schedule. and that's a whole nother story. Injury report, though. much of the same from last week. latest report, availability report as of tonight before we got on. I think it rolled out. Actually, no, it's rolling out here in a little bit, if not, if not already rolled out. Tyree Green still On the questionable. I'm sorry, Tyree Green's out with an ankle. Chase Linton out. Isaiah Canyon's questionable. Nate Frazier questionable. Justice Fitzpatrick is questionable. Then Marcus Harrison is undisclosed, but I have not seen the list since it dropped at 850. so fish, before we get into before we get into a couple of really cool lightning round of questions, a little fun we're gonna have tonight, and then we're gonna do our picks. I thought it'd be cool in October to talk about who we think has the roughest slate. Maybe top five teams in no order that has the roughest slate in October. If you look, I just posted this up here. and I will tell you in no particular order. let's let's just kind of call a few out. I'll kind of give them, give them out there for you, and then from there you can tell me who you think's the roughest. Some ones that come to mind. I got Auburn here in October. They're gonna go two Tennessee on October third. They're open in in week six. They go two Georgia at home against L S U and then they go two Ole Miss Yikes. I mean Adam Fisher: Mm. Ted Turner: Wha what what what I mean, that might be number one right Adam Fisher: There's Ted Turner: off the rip, but what what do you think about that schedule right there, Fish? I mean, for an Auburn team Adam Fisher: Okay. Okay, so Ted Turner: that stats yeah, go ahead. Adam Fisher: I'm sorry, I'm sorry. my my wife is a huge Auburn fan, as we know. Ted Turner: No no no, go ahead. Yeah. Adam Fisher: she's a she's a huge Auburn fan. and Auburn's colors are orange and blue, but she's already talking about wearing black this whole month. And not for Halloween. Like, it's that kind of schedule, dude. Like that is nuts. That is a murderer's row. That's Lou Gehrig, Babe Ruth, you know, all of them. You know, in a row. Just boom. Like that's that's nuts. That's insane. I can't that is that's gotta be up there. That's top two or three at least. Ted Turner: Yeah. I mean I'm looking at I'm looking at a struggling South Carolina team right now. but in my opinion, the end of the year looks a tad bit promising for South Carolina. I know I said October, but if South Carolina could somehow between Kentucky Kentucky on ten three. at Florida, and then you're open, and then you're you're you gotta play Tennessee at home. Then I mean you do get three in a row that are decently winnable. I mean, Tennessee, if you can catch them right, it's a home game at Oklahoma. Oklahoma's obviously not what we thought, and Texas A M's not what we thought. And then you get you get Arkansas at Arkansas and then Georgia, but you you look at October and you go Kentucky, Florida. Tennessee, that's a little bit of a rough one. Another one that stands out to me is I mean, here's Texas, man. Texas is just in the figure out what they're made up. They have an open week coming up. yes, they have an open week this week, actually. Now, and then they go Red River, which is Oklahoma, Florida at home, Ole Miss. That's a pretty that's a pretty rough slate, man. what do you think about that slate right there? Adam Fisher: I don't know. I don't know. I don't I we don't know what in the world Texas is right now. We know they beat Ohio State, but Tennessee almost beat Texas. I mean, is Tennessee good enough? Are they a top five team? No. You know? Ted Turner: Yeah. Yeah. Adam Fisher: so I I d I don't know. Oklahoma I don't think is gonna pose much of a problem. I know it's a rivalry game, but We blow Florida out sometimes, they blow us out sometimes. I mean, just because it's a rivalry game doesn't mean it's gonna be a good game. Like the I don't think Oklahoma is is is the team that everyone thought they were gonna be this year. I I'm Ted Turner: Yeah, of course. Adam Fisher: still man. Missouri has got, you know, Florida coming up. They have a rough October. They just got beat by Mississippi State. Kind of a must win for them next week. A and Ted Turner: Yeah. Adam Fisher: gotta win to keep any kind of hope alive. this week. so I don't know man. Auburn is still oof. Ted Turner: Yeah. I mean, I'll throw these in here. I've looked at I've looked at these. These are pretty I mean, we're gonna see really quick what Florida is made out of, obviously at Missouri. Now, Missouri's gonna give them everything. I mean, this is gonna be a Drinkowitz moment where you know, I I I feel like that when you look at Drinkowitz and his status as far as what he will look like as far as, you know, new coach Summerall and things of that nature. this is going to be a game that's circled and but for but for Florida, if you lose this game, you've you've backtracked on every bit of credibility that you have because then you have South Carolina, then you got to go to Texas, and then you got to play Georgia. So Florida could lose a lot of their credibility right here. And could possibly be looking at three out of four losses right here. If they lose to Missouri, it's not a good next three games for Florida, right? Adam Fisher: Yeah, yeah. Ted Turner: and then they finish off with Kentucky Vanderbilt, Florida State. But I would say right now, this stretch in October, early November, no, I say October because you played Georgia on Halloween night, is definitely a Adam Fisher: Yep. Love that. Ted Turner: game-changing moment here, right? and the last one I think. Last one I think would be Mississippi State. I think you're gonna see who Mississippi State is the next four games. four four or five games. I think you got Alabama, you're open, you gotta go to LSU, Oklahoma, then you gotta go to Texas. So you gotta play Alabama at LSU at Texas. You're fishing to find out really quick who Mississippi State is, I think. You agree? Adam Fisher: Yep. Yeah, yeah, big time. And they're fun to watch. That's that's my most interesting team in the SEC so far this year. I watch their games. I record and I watch I am very intrigued with what's going on in Stark Vegas. Ted Turner: I agree. I totally agree, man. I so I would think I think we're both the same page. I think we're looking at both Auburn and going probably out of all those teams we named, I think the roughest October is clearly Auburn. And I think honorable mention may go to Florida and Mississippi State. I think you're gonna find out who Florida is real quick. I think you're gonna find out who Mississippi State is. Adam Fisher: Yep, I agree. Ted Turner: all right. Let's do a little flash round. Okay. So this is what we're gonna agree to, fish, in this flash round. I'm gonna I'm gonna read as fast as I can read, right? and we're gonna take about ten seconds. We'll answer, then we'll give us a short little kind of a short little reason behind it, and we'll move on, kind of a flash round, and then we'll make our picks sound good. Adam Fisher: Sounds great. Ted Turner: All right. So let's talk real quick. MVP. Four game this is all based off a four game slate. Okay. For Georgia. Okay. This is I want listeners to kinda know where we're at. And I want to know if maybe our listeners are kinda on the same basis with us right now. So question one, MVP. Who's your Georgia MVP through four games? All right. Go. Adam Fisher: Rayland Wilson. Not taking the low hanging fruit. Could have said Chris Cole. But I think everybody else in America would say Chris Cole. I'm going Rayland Wilson. That's my boy. Number five in the middle. Keeping the defense aligned, getting everybody in in position, getting everybody where they need to be. anchor. Anchor of the defense by far. Leads the team in tackles, got three sacks, man's having a great year, and hadn't him played, I think he's played like nine, ten, what, eleven, twelve, maybe twelve quarters all season. Ted Turner: Yeah. I'll take the low hanging fruit because I think it's truthful. I think Chris Cole is one of the best players in the country right now. I Adam Fisher: Yeah. Ted Turner: actually Monday, if you haven't done so, go check it out. I have started officially the Dogs Down South Podcast has started Chris Cole's Heisman campaign. So I think this guy is Adam Fisher: Nice. Ted Turner: an incredible player. I think he's a game changer. I think he's doing enough right now on that defensive side of the ball to be an absolute game changer and I'm thinking too from an VP status, if we didn't have Chris Cole in those first four games, where would we be? I know we have great players. I know it's next man up, but he has caused absolute chaos in four games. all right, second question, offensive MVP. Who has been Georgia's most valuable offensive player? Go. Adam Fisher: Taylon Taylor Talon Taylor. What a what a what a season he's having so far, dude. It like everything we thought and hoped he could be is seems like it's coming to fruition, dude. I I'm excited about this kid's future. Ted Turner: Ooh, that's a s that's a stab. I mean, I like it. I like it. You're going you're going a lot off of of your heavy, heavy week three, week four. I'm I'm I'm with it though. I dig it because, you know, we we we we all we heard was what wide receiver and and we've seen it, but but I agree with you. I think we're seeing the talent Taylor that everybody wanted to see the last few games. I'm gonna go more low-hanging fruit, but it's I think it's true. It's I mean, Nate Frazier has even though he's injured right now, he's running Adam Fisher: Yeah. Ted Turner: the ball the best he has ever ran the ball. I think he's got around what nine nine touchdowns already. And he hasn't he didn't even play in the in the Oklahoma game. So he has eight or nine touchdowns in three games. And he looks just just looks different. We that's why we obviously are really concerned and want to make sure that we get him the rest on those ribs that he needs and curious to see how much playing time he gets this weekend. I know we just talked about this, but let's name another name because I know we we kind of have our overall, but question three is defensive MVP. besides Rayland. Who do you think is another guy that's standing out to you or Chris Cole? Adam Fisher: Justin Williams. How about number nineteen? You know? Looking crazy playing linebacker number nineteen. But but he's having a Ted Turner: Looking crazy. Adam Fisher: great year, dude. He is all over the field. Like he looks great. I am like we are so blessed to have the linebackers we do, man. You could have picked any of them. You could have picked out of four or five linebackers, any one of them. But give me Justin Williams Ted Turner: Yeah. Adam Fisher: for sure. Ted Turner: I I'll tell you what somebody said. They they were like, I don't know if you notice this, a difference this year, but those linebackers are not Zaydan Walker, Foss, Terrell Froster. there are some guys that are dudes that are not getting a lot of snaps. Everybody keeps asking me personally because, you know, my neck of the woods and being from Sly I mean, not being from but close to Sly County and Zaden Walker, they're Why why isn't Zaden getting a lot of playing time? Because those guys, you got you got first one and two round draft picks that are on the field. I mean, Raylan Wilson, Justin Williams, and Chris Cole are all first two round draft picks and they're not coming out on third down. And Quintavus, yeah. They're not coming out on third down anymore, Fish. Yeah. Adam Fisher: And Quintavius Johnson. Like who who who could have who would have who would have guessed? I know. I know, like who would have guessed that that man would have emerged like he has? Like he's locked down his spot, dude. He is he's showing up. Like you I like I said, you could have picked Ted Turner: Yeah, I think those Adam Fisher: from any four all four. Ted Turner: Yeah, I think those linebackers too are are going to Kirby and going, We don't want to come out. Like we're sick and tired of third down. We're sick and tired of first and second down going in there and getting them where we need to get them. And then we're aka winded, and then we have to go back Adam Fisher: Mop up duty. Ted Turner: out there because we can't get a stop on third down. They're like, screw it, man. Keep me in the game. Let's get off the damn field. And I'm liking that because that's one thing last year that was a key against Alabama. We couldn't get off the damn field. And I think they're saying, hey, Adam Fisher: my God, I know Ted Turner: We'd rather get us off the field the next play when we all come off because I'm sick and tired of having to go back on. for me, I Adam Fisher: What they convert Ted Turner: think that's go ahead, go ahead. Adam Fisher: I was gonna say, what did Alabama convert last year? Like twelve third downs in a row? Or something like that? Ted Turner: Yes. Adam Fisher: Like it was nuts. Ted Turner: Yes. And if you don't think we're game planning around that, with how we've been leaving those guys in, we we're a hundred percent game planning around that. I mentioned Monday Adam Fisher: Absolutely. Ted Turner: K J Bolden. KJ Bolden for me this year is playing at an elite level. I think he is he's tackling and he's he's involved in the run game way more. he's playing at a really high level. He's covering really well. He he's the leader in that secondary back there. And I think if I had to say right now, KJ Bolden is really playing well, I mean, we could probably close our eyes and point to this defense right now because it's really it's really clicking on all four cylinders. okay, let's let's get a little let's get a little disappointing. question five, biggest disappointment. Who or what has been the biggest disappointment? Is it a player, a position group, passing game? What else what is it? Adam Fisher: Second half play calling against Oklahoma. I I was that left a sour that left a sour taste in my mouth and I started having flashbacks to the first, you know, Mike Bobo offensive coordinator stint he had with under Rick before he went and started, you know, tried tried, you know, tested the waters being a head coach. but I'm not I'm not picking on him and I'm not saying that he hasn't improved and he's not a top five offensive coordinator in the nation. I'm just saying Things like that tend to happen. We go like I've seen it before, like, you know, let's say we come out and we're running the ball and we're killing on the ground and then all of a sudden we'll stop. And we'll just start airing it out or trying to throw the ball or you know, I don't know. Or, you know, the passing game will be great and then we'll just stop. You know, we'll just start running the ball or trying to run the you know, trying to make something else work, so we're not one dimensional, I guess. but I don't know, man. Stick with what works. Like, you know, that's something that's always in the back of my mind. I'm always a little nervous about that. And yes, it's because Bobo is our offensive coordinator. I'm not saying he can't do the job. I'm just saying he has tendencies that I am used to as a Georgia fan. Ted Turner: Yeah. I I I might hesitate to say this. I'm a Bobo lover of play call this year, man. Adam Fisher: Yeah. Ted Turner: Now, I I I I agree. I agree, but I I hope is that if if if if Kirby allowed Fish and Ted into an offensive meeting last week, this is my hope. This is what I'm gonna hang my hat on to give us what we call our resting heart rate below 100. Okay. Is that Kirby Looks and goes, if you were in that room, Fish, Ted, you would know that we said this is going to be one of the best defenses we played. I think two things we might want to see. If we get up on Oklahoma big, I don't want anything on tape. And I do I do think that's been a that's been a strategy this year. I think what's on tape is huge to Kirby this year. Man, really vanilla. Number number two, I would tell you, he goes, I really would like to see. If one of these teams just is taking the run away from us, can we drop back and can we get creative against a very good pass defense and throw the football? And I think in some areas we may not have answered the question, but I do think Talon Taylor had an explosive and I think we had some really good dynamic of kind of I call reverse responsibility where the pass opened up Dwight Phillips to bust a sixty two yard run. So There's some things there you scratch your head about, but but I will tell you this, like, how many people right now, how many Georgia fans right now are are not being able to go, Where's where's Mr. Where's Mike Bobo, Mr. Screen Man? Like where's he with the screen pass and the dink and the dumps and the I mean, we're doing everything Georgia fans want us to do right now. So I'm curious to see what Georgia fans are saying about Mike Bobo right now because I know me and you, we're we're just a little bit, I guess picky about some things and we've been We've I mean and other fans might been doing it a long time too. I don't want to I don't want to preface it that way. But I will say, I'll go back and tell you some some people still don't have their caregivers taking care of their cell phones on Saturdays. Because Adam Fisher: Yeah. Ted Turner: like some of the bull crap out there that's being posted is just like absolutely erroneous. But I know what you're saying. I know what you're saying. Adam Fisher: I love that word. Ted Turner: You're just like, when it's going, when it's going and when it's moving, I want to see consistency. I want to see it continued. You want to see in a complete game, and you just want to see us stick our foot in their their forehead, man. And I and I I know that's what you think. I agree. Adam Fisher: Especially Bama. Especially Bama. That win in Tuscaloosa will be Ted Turner: I I totally agree. I totally agree. number six. Adam Fisher: way bigger than the SEC championship game. Ted Turner: yeah. Man, that's it's gonna be a fun week talk about that next week. Adam Fisher: Yeah. Ted Turner: Fun, but but always like it's a challenging week to talk about, Bama man. It it always is, but Adam Fisher: It is. Ted Turner: I don't even give an answer. But biggest disappointment for me, I'll be quick. Biggest disappointment for me, in my opinion, I just and I don't know if this is Bobo or or Gunner, but I would just like to see some tight ends. I wanna I mean, I was excited about the tight ends taking a little bit of pressure off the wide receivers. But from my standpoint and hearing a couple things and some people who are behind a paid wall on Glory Glory, it's not as here's some in here's some inside information right here. So clip this really quick. Some inside information from Glory Glory is that there are a lot of plays that are being called that significantly utilize the tight ends and the wide receivers in those ways. But Gunner has he has complete control of the offense at the line. And so maybe Gunner is not looking their way as much, and that's fine. And maybe Gunner is just not seeing what they're giving him in that in that nature, because you are going to hear a game plan that revolves around tight ends. If you're not if you're a team coming in to play Georgia, you are going to hear, listen, they have the best tight end room in the country. So, you know, behind a paywall somewhere, there sits out there a game plan that says there is actually plays being called to to spotlight the tight ends, but right now Gunner is just we just don't know as far as the as far as which check downs and what he's doing and as far as what kind of layers of stuff he's seeing. So that's either positive or not positive. I don't know. what do you think out of the last four games? Yes. Yeah. Adam Fisher: Well we're we're definitely getting schemed for. Like the tight ends are definitely getting schemed for. Like 'cause the first two games they were they were all over the place, dude, making all kinds of plays and then you know that's part of the defensive game plan from Arkansas and Oklahoma. The like kind of eliminate that. Ted Turner: Yeah, I agree. All right. So best performance. I know we're gonna probably eliminate I mean, we may not, but I would say out of four games, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Western Kentucky, Tennessee State, best performance to date. Adam Fisher: Linebackers. LBU Ted Turner: No no no th the the team. The team. So which game? Total performance? Adam Fisher: sorry. My bad. Ted Turner: No, you're Adam Fisher: Tennessee State, and I'm picking that based on the ba strictly well no Western Kentucky, I'm sorry. Based on the uniforms and how much fun I enjoy how much fun I had watching that game. Ted Turner: It was a good pick. I like how you did that. I got Oklahoma, man. I just think the dominance on defense, man, the turnover margin was just crazy exciting to watch. best unit. Best unit right now, four games in. Adam Fisher: Mm-hmm. Defensive line. No, I'm just kidding. Linebackers. Linebackers, man. Ted Turner: Right. That's if we were we were one ahead, man. We were one ahead. I'm yeah, I'm gonna I'm gonna mean you're gonna go two for two on this 'cause I'm not gonna be that guy that goes, well, you pick linebackers, so no. There that answer's very easy. Our linebackers have been clearly our best unit on the field. you can see it. Most important player going forward. if you could only choose one Georgia player to stay healthy for the rest of the season, who are you choosing and why? Adam Fisher: God. Ted Turner: Yeah. There you go. Adam Fisher: What a hard question. But I'm gonna I'm gonna stick with my guy in the middle of the defense. I'm gonna stick with Raylan. Although I'm sure Justin could slide over and we wouldn't miss a beat, you know. But I think Raylan is key. I think he's vital. He's got the most experience out of anyone on that defense. Like he's been there the longest. He's been he's gotten the most snaps underneath his belt and he knows what Kirby wants and he knows what he knows where to line people up. He can See plays coming a mile away. I mean, I I I think the the field general on the defensive side of the ball for sure. Ted Turner: Yeah. I'm gonna I'm gonna curveball it here and say Ellis Robinson. I think we're not we're deep. We're deep in the secondary, but we all know SEC cornerbacks have to be built different, right? And with all of the talented wide receivers and quarterbacks in the SEC this year, I feel like if you lose your number one cornerback, man, from then on out it's really hard to scheme and it's really hard, you know. You look at you look at some teams and they're like, we know what we're doing, right? So I I'm gonna go out on a on a on a limb and say I think Ellis would be a a really heavy blow. breakout player, Adam Fisher: Well that's a good one. That's a real good one. Ted Turner: yeah. Who's your who's your breakout candidate for the next eight games? Who hasn't gotten the attention yet but could become a major factor? Adam Fisher: Dwight Phillips. Like he showed up. Ted Turner: I like it. Adam Fisher: He showed up Saturday. Like he's that's 'cause like I said, you know, like we always say, you know, we're a run first, pass second kind of team. You know, we like to grind and chew clock and you know, I think being deep at that position is awesome. We know what Nate is gonna do, we know what Chauncey's gonna do. And who knew that Dwight Phillips was gonna do what he did Saturday? Nobody had that on the stat sheet, I guarantee it. Ted Turner: Right. Right. I like it, man. I'm gonna go I'm gonna I'm gonna come out of maybe left field on this one too, but I think next eight games, this name will flash, and that is Khalil Barnes. never I think and I said this on Monday, the stability we have in Khalil Barnes at the star position when you play teams like Alabama, Ole Miss, Florida is really gonna flash because I'm not, yeah, I will say a name, but there are times last year where Jonel Aguarro was absolutely manhandled in the slot. I mean, manhandled. I mean, we were, he was lost, completely lost. And this is why at Ole Miss he's playing, you know, he's playing, he's playing deep, deep thirds. He's playing on the backside of that defense. Khalil Barnes can cover. And that and he can he can protect the run and he can cover and it's being seen because we are getting off the field right now. And that is something what like I can't tell you how many years I stood in front of that TV and said, get off the field, we gotta get off the field. We gotta get off the field. And Khalil Barnes is covering, excuse my friends, it's covering his ass off right now. And so that's my Adam Fisher: He is. Ted Turner: that's my guy who I think can come around and be like, there's a difference maker in getting off the field because when you start plugging in another tight end, another wide receiver in there and you gotta cover longer. And we're not maybe getting the pressure we may need sometimes, you're gonna have to cover longer. I think that's where he comes into play. Adam Fisher: Absolutely. Ted Turner: last biggest question. After four games, what's the one question Georgia steele hasn't answered? You got it, you got it kind of raw, or do you want me to read off a couple of multiple choices? All right, a couple Adam Fisher: Go ahead. Go ahead. Ted Turner: multiple choices. Can the offense stay consistent for four quarters? Can Georgia beat an elite team on the road? Can Gunnar Stockton consistently win from the pocket? Can the receivers separate against the SEC secondaries? Can the defense maintain this level? And can Georgia stay healthy? Out of all five of those, In four games, which is a one question Georgia still hasn't answered. Adam Fisher: So it's easy. That's four quarters of football. We haven't played a complete game on you. We ha we haven't had to. It's what a luxury, right? In the SEC, two games into our nine game schedule. Like what like what a luxury that is. Like, you know, that's a hot commodity. That's you know, ever that's on everybody's wish list, I think. You know, to have you know the first you know, ha first third of the season turn out the way it has for us. so yeah, easy. Ted Turner: Well, Georgia versus Vanderbilt this weekend. It'll be a it'll be a really good game. Hopefully not as nasty as predicted, but we're gonna get ready and we're gonna pick that game. That's all we got left to do. But before that, we're gonna do our weekly picks. So we will do a couple of picks outside the SEC. And then we will pick all of our SEC games and we will pick the Georgia game last fish. So without any further ado, let's hop straight in, man. The two games we're gonna pick outside of the SEC this week. the first one. That is very intriguing to me is unranked Washington, three and one, goes into number 18 USC Southern Cal. And this is a big game, man, and I'll tell you why. It's because we're already starting to hear Lincoln Riley rumors of man, is this it? Is this is this his last year at USC? Is he in over his head? He's got a $60 million buyout. And all I've heard this week is Lincoln Riley is is is he cut out for it. this is a good Washington team, right? really good quarterback. three and one. They're flying under the radar. It's a good this is this is this is a good time to if you want to punch Lincoln Riley in the face with the schedule he has left because he has Oregon around the corner as well. So you don't want to lose this game to Washington. Fish, who do you got in this game and why? Adam Fisher: Alright, so I watched and remember I mentioned this, you know, the Apple Cup ha was a week one game, which I don't think I I don't know, I'm not sure if that's ever happened 'cause I'm not a big Pacific Northwest follower of football, you know. I kinda keep up with it because I used to love Pac twelve after dark. I still like staying up late watching those West Coast games. but Washington I actually watched that game. Washington looked pretty good. You know, I think a little bit better than most people thought they were gonna be. unranked at three and one. That's not really a surprise. You know, it's kinda expected. They need to win a couple more before they crack top twenty five, I believe. But a a big win this weekend will go a long way for that, but they're gonna have to wait because USC ain't gonna let that happen. Give me US C by ten. Ted Turner: USC by 10. Just so happens they're nine and a half point favorites at home. I I do think the severity of if I lose to Washington and I still got Oregon on the schedule, you know, you you just wonder when's enough, right? the reason I threw this game in here is this is kind of my upset special outside the SEC. I think Washington comes in. And I think Washington gets a barn burner, man. I think there's a lot of points scored in this game. I think these are two quarterbacks who are very they're electric. The defenses are not great. The defenses are not great. If you look back at last week's game with with Oregon and and US C, these are two defenses that are struggling a lot. Oregon is still trying to find themselves as well on defense. but I think Washington can come in and score a little bit more. so give me Washington and I have I have winning by it for me, it's a field goal. I think it's tied. I think Washington makes a a a last two minute run. They get a field goal and they as as Dan Lanning would say, and he said it last week, he said, you don't, you know, you don't come to you know, if you're from California, you come play at Oregon. You don't go to USC. If you want to go to a I don't even know what his the artist was, but it I think he said something about if you want to go to a a concert. Or Bruno Mars concert or something like that. That's why you go to USC. I guess talking about the stadium, I guess. Nirvana. There we go. So Adam Fisher: Nirvana, our R. E. Jimi Hendrix. There's a lot of y musicians from Seattle. Ted Turner: right. So so anyways, he kind of shrolled him on that one. But yeah, give me give me Washington. That's my upset special for the week. The last game out of the SEC, big one in Des Moines, number fourteen, Iowa, four and takes on number five, Ohio State. Iowa coming off the big win against Michigan, the last second. throw in the end zone to beat Michigan. does Iowa have any more Cinderella in them? They're fourteen and a half point underdogs to Ohio State this weekend. Who you got, Fish? Adam Fisher: So actually a friend of mine that I used to work with, him and his family recently moved back to Iowa. They are from Des Moines, naturally. so he's a huge Iowa fan. you know, this I know he's happy with the way his team's playing this year, but I'm gonna go not so fast on that one. I think Julian Sane and Jeremiah Smith have are yeah, have found their their stride. I think they've hit their stride. Jeremiah Smith is the best wide receiver in the nation by far. You know, Julian Saiyan doesn't have to do much, you know, for and that man'll just go get it and he'll find the end zone. Ohio State, but not by much. I'm gonna say it's a closer game than maybe it's gonna be picked to be. I think it's maybe a two or three point game. Ted Turner: Nice. I I agree with you. I think Ohio State wins this game. I think Iowa had their heroics last week. They'll be, you know, it'll be hard to get up for this game, even though I think the fans will be up for this game. But I think you do have to score in this game, which Iowa and Michigan are struggling to do right now. And I think Ohio State will score. So I think it'll just kind of Adam Fisher: yeah. Ted Turner: be one of those offensive grinds. I just feel I just feel Adam Fisher: I agree. Ted Turner: like defense is there, but like who's going to score more points at the end of the day? Because defense is going to not allow much. It's going to be stingy. So at the end of the day, that's where we're at. Now, SEC slate. We're going to go in reverse. This is really wild. The night games in the SEC are not really the highlight, spotlight type games. So it's a little weird this week. so we're gonna kind of go in reverse. So this is the 745 SEC network kickoff. LSU number 11 has MacNey state. Coming in. LSU's a fifty three and a half point favorite. who you got in this game, Fish? Adam Fisher: If you're just a football fan, no no dog in the fight, okay? Just tuning in. Your team's already played and won. You've had a few beers, you're just chilling with the wife and kids. Seven forty five, looking for a good game. Would you rather watch LSU McNeese State or Georgia Vandy? Ted Turner: Yeah, I probably wanna wanna watch George of Andy. Adam Fisher: why we are the kings of twelve thirty, twelve o'clock between twelve and one o'clock kickoffs. It's like it's like we're not a popular brand. That's what it feels like. Like ESPN thinks everybody's gonna tune in to watch LSU Ted Turner: Very interesting. That's interesting. Adam Fisher: run up the scoreboard on McNeese State and would rather see that than an actual could be a competitive football game. Like I I Ted Turner: Yeah. Adam Fisher: don't get it. I don't get it. But LSU by a hundred, I mean obviously. Ted Turner: But instead, they wanna they wanna have people go to bed early because not only is this game Adam Fisher: Exactly. Ted Turner: they might go to bed before it, but even they're gonna watch a quarter and then they're gonna go to bed early because it's gonna be over early. Adam Fisher: Yep. Yep. That's right. Ted Turner: I agree with you, man. I agree with you. Like, why in the world, and I understand contracts and SEC and all this other stuff, but these are SEC games, man. That seven forty five time slot is always available on SEC network. Adam Fisher: That's right. Ted Turner: so I don't know the method of and you know what? Maybe somewhere in the middle, once again earlier I said this, we're not in these meetings. Kirby has not yet allowed us in these meetings, Fish. I know it's coming. I know it's coming. We're getting there. But Adam Fisher: We're getting there. Ted Turner: maybe Kirby's like, dude, you want to play at 745 and then and then play Bama at 730? Or you want to get in, get off the field and you want to start scouting Alabama at three o'clock. And he might be like, Bro, I'll get off. I'll get doing it at three, four, let my players go and relax and not have to draw this out all day into midnight and I can start game planning on I can be in bed by eleven o'clock on Saturday night after I've already scouted Alabama. I don't know. Maybe that's how it goes, but I Adam Fisher: That's a fair point. That's a fair point. Ted Turner: do agree with you. I do agree with you though. It's pretty crappy. But yeah, LSU by give me every single fifty three and a half of those points against MacNeese. seven o'clock, ESPN two, Texas A and The 12th man brings in Arkansas. I didn't want to call this one as early because this is one that you kind of want to churn around a little bit. Arkansas playing a little bit better. Offense looked a little bit better last week against a not a it's not a great Tulsa team, but a okay Tulsa team. defense look look better. is Arkansas trying to put some things together? Is Texas AM, I right now Texas AM is struggling on all facets of the game. That's even a word. It combines with that. Adam Fisher: I'll allow it. Ted Turner: So is this is it is this up is this upset central right here, Fish? Who you got in this game? Adam Fisher: There's a couple of ways you can look at this game. A couple of different ways it could go. is this a get right game for AM or is this an upset alert for Arkansas? Like, are they gonna come in and shock the world? And I'm kind of partial to think Arkansas is gonna come in, man. I think they're gonna lay it down. I think they see a wounded animal in Texas AM. And I think they're gonna pounce and I think they're gonna attack hard. gimme, gimme, gimme Arkansas. And for Grant's sake, I hope it comes out to for I hope it works out. Ted Turner: Man, upset special. 14 point favored Texas AM, twelfth man. There there's some there's a lot of sports media out there that is like they think this can happen, man. They think that this offense from Texas AM, the defense, like it just it looks very fraudish. It looks very like we've been duped, right? I don't think Arkansas can go in and get the win. I think this is too big for I think this is too big for the silver fox, the silver horse. But I do think they can cover that fourteen. I think they can cover that fourteen. I think they can go in and they can make Texas AM's life miserable and it not be any better for Elko at the end of the night. Because I think you're still gonna have a team that's sitting there going, How in the hell do you let Arkansas come in to your home turf, the twelfth man, one of the loudest stadiums in college football? And you only beat them by I'm saying ten, right? Ten points. And honestly, like the only reason they didn't get it to three is because maybe maybe Tech C and make gets a stop late in the game, you know, close where Arkansas has to go for it on fourth down instead of take the field goal. But you probably could see him covering up to three, you know? I mean, we'll all get probably, you know, humbled and Arkansas probably get beat by like four touchdowns, but But I do think that if Texas CNN brings the product they brought to the field the last three weeks, yeah, upset is definitely Adam Fisher: They're in trouble. Ted Turner: in the making, but I definitely think they cover. I definitely think they cover. So I like that pick, Fish. I was I was close on the upset. But I've not been right about my upsets the last two weeks. I had Tulsa upsetting Arkansas and the hell that didn't go well. I want you to know this too, Adam Fisher: I know. Ted Turner: and I don't promote I don't promote any betting on this site. I mean, or anything like that. Every once in a while I'll make a little stab, a little dollar. $2 here. So I went and I said, I'm going to take my little nice little $2, right? And I'm going to do, I'm going to put it on the spread for Tulsa. I'm sorry. I actually had 10 teams. I used my picks. And then I got to the end. And if I want you to know this, I had a two dollar bet going for $387. And I got through the Oregon shenanigans because I thought when Dante Moore went out, that might be the one that clips me. I got all the way down to Arkansas Tulsa. And all I needed then to do was to cover the seven points. And I'd be damned if Arkansas didn't beat him by 30. I lost $397 on a two on a $2 bet. I'm just, Adam Fisher: Well well. Ted Turner: I was just, hey, man, I was just buying my lottery ticket, man, and it didn't win. It didn't win. Adam Fisher: Yeah, yeah. Wow. Ted Turner: let's see here. Kentucky, South Carolina, man, this is this seems like 415 SEC network. This This seems for both teams really, really important game, Fish. Why? For Shane Beamer, you know, you gotta you gotta suspend Dylan Stewart now indefinitely. When is Dylan Stewart gonna get back? Shane Beamer, who determines that? Me. I don't know if you heard that interview. Me. Okay, I we get Adam Fisher: Yep, yep, I did. Ted Turner: it, dude. You're a big dog, right? We get it, you're a big dog. But I'm gonna tell you who is responsible for this season if you get fired, and that's you, me. Okay? So you got I think this is this feels like a gotta win game, right, Fish? And for Will Stein in South Carolina, if you don't win this game, you're back to what? You're back to pretender, right? You're back to, well, we we because right now the Texas CNN game doesn't look as good as a win, right? Doesn't really look as as dominating. So this is an important game for both teams. Who you got in this game, Fish? Four fifteen SEC network. Adam Fisher: gimme Kentucky all day long. the the the you know Beamer acting, you know, like a cornered toddler, you know, when they lash out and they scream things and they say things like, I hate you or whatever, I don't like you or you know, like that's all that well he got so defensive and it's 'cause he knows. I'm sure his bosses and him had a talk this off season and were like, dude, this is it. Come on, let's go. You know, time to produce. Kentucky's not playing around, man. You know, I know that AM game, that win doesn't look that great, but I'm still putting a lot on that first half against Bama. You know, I don't think Bama was shell shocked. I mean, I don't know. I think Kentucky just let their foot off the gas. I think they went in and they just croasted through halftime. Like I said in the chat, you know, that week, there were two different halftime speeches right there. One team got their butts chewed and the other team got a pat on the back. And the hungrier team came out and you know put shut it down in the second half. I think Kentucky let that one slip away. I think they're a lot better than the second half of that game reflects. So give me Kentucky big by s by fourteen. Ted Turner: Yeah. South Carolina's a three point favorite. I don't think William Adam Fisher: wow. Ted Turner: Bryce I don't think William Bryce is I don't know. It ain't William Bryce, not with Not with the deflation of Adam Fisher: It's not gonna be an electric atmosphere, sorry. Ted Turner: yeah, not with the deflation of culture. Give me Kentucky. I think Kentucky definitely covers and I think they I think I think they the score may not predict the embarrassment, but I do think this is a very ugly game by South Carolina. I think there's just a lot of stirred adversity going on with them right now. three thirty ESPN Auburn heads in the Neeland. this seems like for Auburn. You know, it's like, hey, we're we're we've been a little bit ugly, but we're three and one, right? and then Tennessee, for Tennessee, it's like, all right, we had a we we we had a a possible win on the plate against Texas without playing really well. And so this seems like for Tennessee, same thing. It's like if we want to keep this positive momentum going and we don't want to become a pretender again, we got to win this game, right? But also for Auburn, we talked about how tough their schedule is. And this is probably the easiest game on their schedule for the next four weeks. So it's very important probably that Auburn goes in and and and really fights to get a win. And Nealan, who do you got this game, Pi? Adam Fisher: So Texas' defense compared to Auburn's defense is is almost night and day in the way they're playing this year. Texas' defense is looked great. Like ten sacks against Tennessee whose offensive line wasn't supposed to be that bad. I I want Auburn to win just so our game looks a little better, you know, in a couple of weeks. You know, maybe we can slide into a seven thirty time slot if Auburn has only lost one game by the time we play that's my mindset. J I I don't know. I think Tennessee's gonna come out and their offense is gonna look a lot better. They're not gonna lay down and look as near as bad, I think, as they did last week. I think Tennessee's got it. I think they're gonna win by a touchdown. Ted Turner: Yeah. I think it's it's I I don't know that Auburn can get into a shootout with Tennessee. It's not going to end Adam Fisher: No, I don't think so. Ted Turner: well for Auburn. So it would be it would be the a really good scheme to go in there and go between Byron Brown and the run game and to hope to to pull the tape in what Texas did to Faison Brandon. If you can complement all three of those things together and make this a s a low scoring game like Texas did. I do think Auburn can win this game. I think Tennessee does does win the game because I also think Tennessee's defense looked really good against Texas. Adam Fisher: They did. Ted Turner: I think people people miss out on the fact that they only allowed 20 points to Texas. And in all honesty, one of those was kind of given away by the offense and that good field position. So I like Tennessee, man, but I do think Auburn can get this win. If the stars align as far as the game plan. Auburn win this game, but I think Tennessee wins. It's a seven point favorite at Nealand. I think that's all. I think three or four of those points are home field advantage. The other two or three are probably what they're going to win by. So I can see a four point game. I can see a twenty eight, twenty four type game. but Auburn does need this game, man, because they have a really rough slate ahead. thirty ABC, four and Florida, the hot Florida Gators. with a top ten ranking for the first time in a long, long time. If you're Billy Napier and you're looking back right now and you're going, damn, like like Adam Fisher: Hmm. Ted Turner: 75% of this team was 80% was my players. And I couldn't do any better than what he's done. The laughing stock of the SEC for the past four or five years. They headed to Missouri This is a three and one Missouri team who's coming off a loss to Ole Miss. Obviously, Missouri's biggest issues, though, are the secondary. And right now, Florida is clicking on all four cylinders with that pass game. And they're not, they're they're pretty damn relentless with their run game. But who you got this one, Fish? Adam Fisher: Hm. Yeah. Summerall and i is a completely he's a way better motivator than than Billy Boy. he he's getting he's he and he looks like a way better coach. which is crazy because I thought Billy Nightier was a great coach, but maybe he's not meant for the the big stage. but saying that, Florida's gonna win this game and how a f how nervous are we now about that Halloween game? You know, and thank God it's in Mercedes Benz, 'cause in a neutral site, well, Athens East, I should say, or Athens West, I should say, 'cause we're more east. you know, Buster Faulkner is is one of the better, if not the best, offensive coordinator in the nation. he's he's and Austin and Philo, you know, like who expected him to do what he's doing? I mean, we didn't know much about him. You know, 'cause we didn't see him play because he played behind Haynes King at you know in Atlanta for a couple of years. But I don't think Florida slows down. And I'm sorry I'm rambling because I'm just thinking about when we play And I've been thinking about that all week actually. Because they just destroyed all miss, dude. Like nobody saw that coming. Nobody. so be afraid of Florida if you know, if you're anybody but us. G gimme Florida by twenty one, man. Ted Turner: Whew, Florida by 21. By the way, a little plug. I I I told you I'm going I'm I'm I'm starting a new leaf this year. I'm not scared of Florida, dude. I'm not scared of Florida because I still see that Florida secondary giving up a lot of points on that backside. And somebody knew something more than we did because everybody was going, How in the world is Ole Miss an underdog going into Florida after beating LSU? And so I still like Florida in this game, but I I think Missouri is very pesky in this game. I think Missouri, you know, Eli Drinkowicz is a really good defensive mind. I think he will come up with some things. but I but it's scary because the the biggest problem with this Missouri team is the is the the lack of efficiency in the secondary and geez man, you don't want to have that against the way the way Philo and Buster Faulkner are dialing up these passing plays right now. so I do think Florida wins. I agree with you, but I think Missouri's gonna be pesky and I think it's closer than twenty-one. but I I wanna give I wanna give it at least in that that right around that seven to ten point range. so I think Florida probably pulls a thirty-five, twenty-four, thirty-five, thirty-one type game somewhere in there. but definitely peskier than than they thought Missouri would be. Alabama heads into Mississippi State. This is a noon. Noon kickoff, best game on the slate is a noon kickoff. Starkville Cowbells will be going crazy. You got Mississippi State four and for the first time in a long time. This is a measuring stick game from Mississippi State, but not in terms of who they are as far as against Alabama, but as far as are they pretenders or contenders in the SEC. This is their first big test. With that offense and is that Zacharnette defense really where it needs to be right now against a really good Alabama defense? that's got to go on the road. And Keelan Russell, who is really getting more adapted to the game, the the more games that come his way. Fish, it's tough one, man, but who you got in this one? Adam Fisher: Well, I I think I think the hard part here is the crazy thing here is gonna be Mississippi State's defense. And I think that's gonna be their downfall. I think that's gonna be why they lose the game. I don't think it's not g I don't think it's gonna be because they can't score points. I think the offense, you know, Anthony Evans is having a stellar year. One of the better wide receivers in the in the in the conference this year so far. it's Alabama's gonna win, but you know, I'm really glad they have a game like this before they play us and they're not off, which they usually are the week before our games, which I think is a conspiracy, but that's a story for another time. Ted Turner: Yeah. Adam Fisher: Gimme Alabama, but it's close. I think it's kind of a low scoring shootout, like thirty five, twenty eight, something like that. Ted Turner: Yeah. I like it, man. I like it. I gotta start naming my upset specials like you know, like my Nash Lampoons Christmas Vacation up upset special, you know, like upsetting meaning when Clark Goswald tries to fire the lights and they don't go anywhere and then to too much to our wondering eyes appear that he didn't hit the switch to turn Adam Fisher: That's right. Ted Turner: the Power strip on. So we're gonna call it that for the time being until I get a better name. But this is my Adam Fisher: Sounds good. Ted Turner: Clark Goodswald, National Lampers, Christmas Vacation up upset special. here's what I think. I think Mississippi State is gonna score and they're gonna score a lot. And I think Keelan Russell is gonna have to be put into a predicament where he's gotta score with them, which makes him have to throw the ball into tighter windows, make plays, run run around, do some things that are out of his character. And his youth will show. and Camario Taylor, Jeff Levy put Camario Taylor through those youthful downs last year in a s very smart, very smart of of Levy last year to go, look, he's gonna be the Lamborghini we ride next year. So we may take some bumps and bruises this year, but let's get those games out of the way. So I think it becomes a shootout. and it could be messy because I don't know where this weather's gonna be in South in South, you know, the southeast this weekend. but My Griswold Christmas Vacation update. I'm sorry, upset special. I can't even miss a long word. Adam Fisher: I love that. I love that. I love it. Ted Turner: Give me give me Mississippi State, man, 41, Alabama 37. And it's Adam Fisher: Wow. Ted Turner: a shootout and Mississippi State wins upset special. And Adam Fisher: Yeah. Ted Turner: man, Alabama comes in licking their wounds to Tuscaloosa, and that's something probably that doesn't bode well with them. 'Cause then you got to get up for Georgia, which would be a tough one. But last game of the Slate Fish, twelve forty five. What a great time. SEC network, Georgia Vanderbilt, Georgia ranked number two, Vandy coming in. Supposed to be a sloppy game. I'm sorry, sloppy weather. We don't want it to be a sloppy game, but who you got, Fish? Give me a score. and who you got? Adam Fisher: Dogs by Fetty. Easy. Dogs by Fetty. I I I wanna I wanna make Jared Ted Turner: Oaksabah Fitti. That's the the Oak Sabar Fitti. Adam Fisher: Curtis regret not making the right decision. You know, I know what I said earlier and I don't I don't hate on his decision. I agree with you though it was the wrong decision. You know, how would you how would you not want that's like seeing a station wagon and a Corvette in the parking lot and there's you know the keys are in the ignition and all you gotta do is go hop in and take off. So what in the world made him so there must have been a bag of money in the back seat of the station wagon. Because that's what Jared Curtis did. Like that's exactly the move he made. That was his move. So more power to him, he's gonna regret it Saturday. Ted Turner: You get a score. Adam Fisher: fifty three three. Fifty three three. Ted Turner: By fifty. Fifty three three. By fifty. obviously have Georgia in this one and I my my long shot call is is that this game's sloppy. I think the weather will be intact as far as what it's supposed to be. I think it's low scoring, but I think Georgia gets their first shutout of the year. I think they get their first shutout of the year. Adam Fisher: Nice. I'd love that. Ted Turner: I think Georgia wins I'm gonna say twenty seven zero because it's gonna be a sloppy day. I'm gonna give Georgia Adam Fisher: I'll tell you that. Ted Turner: a couple field goals. I think three touchdowns on the ground somewhere. Maybe maybe two on the ground, one in the air, and a couple of field goals because of messy, you know, messy stops on the on the on the ground. but I do think we get our first shutout of the year, twenty seven zero, Georgia. Adam Fisher: I'll take it. Ted Turner: and then we and then we hopefully, as I always say, we're back here on next week, preparing for Alabama and talking about a big victory. So Well Fish, yeah. Adam Fisher: Hmm. Bama Hate Week. I'm already naming next week. Ted Turner: Bama Hate Week, man. We're gonna probably do a couple extra shows next week for Bama Hate Week. So get Adam Fisher: I'm good. Ted Turner: your seatbelt, get your seat belts ready. fish, it's been a solid hour and a half tonight, which I always enjoy doing.
