- 0:00laced up let's go it's time for banter with the
- 0:04boys what it is all Welcome back to Banter with
- 0:17the Boys, Gridiron Updates, week 16. I'm Smelty,
- 0:21of course, naturally. I'm back here this week.
- 0:23Coach. Next to me, we got Roberto. Coming in
- 0:27the business attire, ruining people's seasons.
- 0:29For you Spotify listeners, he's wearing a Vikings
- 0:31polo, so very, very business casual, really,
- 0:35I think is what polos are. It is what it is.
- 0:37Anyway, Jake's also here again this week. What's
- 0:40up, Jake? Heck yeah. Glad to be back again. We
- 0:42appreciate you being here, as always. It seems
- 0:45like this season, but that's good. That's good.
- 0:47Hey, there's one purple. Do you like Jake? I
- 0:49don't know. Yeah. I like having thumbs down.
- 0:53If you don't, I like, uh, yeah. Just like unsubscribe.
- 0:58No, don't, don't unsubscribe. Uh, Kev's here.
- 1:01What up? Kev back there, dude. He set up these
- 1:03awesome trees for us. He did. We're festive.
- 1:06Uh, if you're on YouTube, you can see our beautiful
- 1:07trees. If you're not, uh, get on YouTube and
- 1:09see our beautiful trees. All right. Uh, with
- 1:12that, Yeah, we're festive. Yeah. Anyway, what
- 1:15are we doing? Week five, game recaps. Week 15.
- 1:26Yes. Let's see. The Falcons at the Bucs. I believe
- 1:32they're at the Bucs, right? Yes. Yeah, they were.
- 1:35What a finish this was, ladies and gentlemen.
- 1:39That's why I'm actually wearing the Vikings version,
- 1:42Kirk Cousins jersey, this week. I know we might
- 1:45lose some subscribers with that, but that's okay.
- 1:49Why? You think Vikings fans are... They hate
- 1:52Kirk Cousins. It's not Kirk Cousins fault that
- 1:54he didn't stay in Minnesota. I liked Kirk Cousins.
- 1:56And if you go look at the stats, he's one of
- 1:59the best quarterbacks Vikings have ever had.
- 2:00But anyway, people, people hate Kirk Cousins.
- 2:03Yes. Here in Minnesota. Okay. All right. All
- 2:05right. You didn't know that? No, I would say
- 2:07not hear any of that. I guess I'm listening to
- 2:10the wrong station. Shoot. I guess so. He's just
- 2:13buying into the, how do you like that? Okay.
- 2:15Yeah. Yeah. But anyway, Kirk leads the Falcons
- 2:18on the field. Can I get some big plays to pits
- 2:20and sills and ends up getting that touchdown
- 2:22late. That led up to the game -winning field
- 2:26goal. But big what? What was it? Fourth down
- 2:30or whatever that they converted on that drive?
- 2:32Third and 28. And then the fourth and 14. Yeah,
- 2:35fourth and 14. Unbelievable. Yeah, Bucs defense.
- 2:38What are we doing? Causing your head coach to
- 2:41go into an expletive lace tirade. Yes. I did
- 2:46not see that. Oh, yeah. It was bad. It's about
- 2:49a minute and a half of Expletives. Check it out
- 2:52if you haven't seen it. I'm going to have to
- 2:53go look it up. It's really good. Yeah. It would
- 2:56flag our episode as no Expletives. It would work.
- 3:01But, yeah, Falcons getting the win 29 -28. I
- 3:04mean, is this concerning to you if you're a Bucs
- 3:06fan right now, Roberto, as you're heading to
- 3:09the playoffs right now and now the division is
- 3:11up for grabs all of a sudden? Yeah, for sure
- 3:14right now. I mean, Tristan Werf, he was out that
- 3:16game, wasn't he? He was sitting on the sideline.
- 3:18And, yeah, they can't seem him and Baker. Baker
- 3:22and his three core receivers seem to be off.
- 3:25Right. You know? It's the first time pretty much
- 3:28all since the beginning of the season where you
- 3:30have. All of them. Yeah. So, yeah, you had Goodwin,
- 3:34Evans, and Evans had a nice game. And for me,
- 3:37it was after that fumble, that hit by Parrish
- 3:41on Bijan for that fumble. Turn the ball over.
- 3:43You get a Chris Godwin touchdown. That should
- 3:46be it. That should have been the game. I thought
- 3:48it was. That was, what, late in the third, wasn't
- 3:50it? Yeah. And a third beginning of fourth. Yeah,
- 3:52you're going into the fourth quarter up by 14
- 3:54at that point. I mean, just don't call it a comeback
- 3:58on Kirko chains, you know, and, and like we were
- 4:02saying what you were actually, what you were
- 4:04saying off, off air here, off air. I love that
- 4:06we use that, but anyway, uh, off air that you
- 4:09were saying that the Falcons still have an opportunity
- 4:11here, chipping a chair to, to, yeah, to make
- 4:13the playoffs right now. Playoffs. Yeah. Playoffs.
- 4:16I mean, there's three games are down to, I mean,
- 4:18it's not the best chances in the world, but as
- 4:20you look in how Carolina and Tampa Bay are kind
- 4:24of sliding right now, In Tampa Bay, untrustworthy
- 4:26Carolina, I'd say right now. I don't know. And
- 4:29I don't know exactly. Atlanta's got to hope that.
- 4:32They got to play at least one of those. Probably
- 4:35both of them. Well, they play each other this
- 4:36week. Because Buccaneers have Panthers twice,
- 4:39so they have to split. Okay. And then lose. So
- 4:44the Falcons actually have a chance. Yes, they
- 4:46do. Well, other than they play the Rams week
- 4:5017. Ouch. I mean, yeah, Falcons have to have
- 4:54to win out. And then. But they do have Cardinals
- 4:57and Saints. And then Bucks and Panthers have
- 5:00to lose two out of three. Yeah. Okay, interesting.
- 5:04All right, well, keeping an eye on that NFC South.
- 5:07What a crazy South. Yeah, what a crazy South.
- 5:10Something that I know I thought the Buccaneers
- 5:13were going to end up running away with it this
- 5:14year, but I think you picked the Falcons, didn't
- 5:16you? I have a feeling we're going to have to
- 5:18go back and look at all that. No, I think I went
- 5:20box. I think I went Falcons the year before.
- 5:23Oh, was it? Okay. Yeah. I was going to say, man,
- 5:25you're looking like. No, Falcons are officially
- 5:26eliminated. Are they? Yeah. I looked at it. Oh,
- 5:29man. I was turning around. I'm like, it's got
- 5:31to come down to tiebreakers. You can pretty much
- 5:35erase that whole first three minutes of that.
- 5:37Oh, well. With that, Falcons getting the win
- 5:40over the Bucs, 29 -28. Let's move on to our next
- 5:44game here. The Chargers beating the Chiefs, actually
- 5:48sweeping the Chiefs for the first time since
- 5:502014. Why do I not have the score? I had it right
- 5:53in front of me. 16 -13. We took a little trip.
- 5:58Field goal fast. Yeah, field goal fast. I mean,
- 6:01the second half was. boring if you're if you're
- 6:04not into i think it really played to the charger's
- 6:07strength like they helped like the chief scored
- 6:10all of their points in the first half and then
- 6:13obviously didn't get another point the for the
- 6:16remainder of it and the charger is just one ball
- 6:21control or yeah time of possession uh four um
- 6:25what are my notes here uh for their possessions
- 6:29they had over five minutes yep 13 play drive,
- 6:3312 play drive, 14 play drive, 13 play drive.
- 6:37Chiefs' longest drive was six minutes, and that
- 6:40was their opening possession of the game. And
- 6:42then after that, they didn't have another one
- 6:44over three minutes until the fourth quarter.
- 6:46Well, and it felt like Mahomes was running for
- 6:47his life. Yeah. The whole game. Maybe you think
- 6:51running the ball might help that? Yeah. need
- 6:55to work on that run game something fierce 21
- 6:57attempts for 49 yards yeah yeah not not efficient
- 7:03enough by any means i mean i think that's this
- 7:06the reason why the chiefs struggled as much as
- 7:09they did this year is they could not run the
- 7:11ball and then obviously the injuries at the beginning
- 7:12of the year and the offensive line is banged
- 7:14up i think they didn't yeah they're on their
- 7:16second string for four out of their five positions
- 7:19so Well, and you mentioned Chiefs run game on
- 7:22the other side of things. Amari on Hampton. Back.
- 7:24This is his second game back, and he's averaging
- 7:26over four yards a carry in those two games back
- 7:29from that fractured ankle. And it seems like
- 7:32good timing when Vidal kind of is, you know,
- 7:34he had a couple big games, like big flasher games.
- 7:36And then outside of those games, if you look,
- 7:38really weren't great. Do you know what I mean?
- 7:40They got some tape on it. It's nice that now
- 7:42he can be, well, yeah, it got some tape, but
- 7:44it forced him to the inside, you know, or whatever
- 7:47you want to do. But you can have tape on somebody
- 7:49that has a little. bit of explosiveness true
- 7:51yeah but i'm just saying like now it kind of
- 7:54gives them back that kind of one two not a one
- 7:57-two punch by any means is not not in comparison
- 7:59other one -two punches in the league but it's
- 8:00nice to have just two hampton backs that yeah
- 8:03100 carry the ball yeah 100 um lambert smith
- 8:06gets his first career touchdown late in that
- 8:08first half for the charter so that was pretty
- 8:11cool but um other than that did you have any
- 8:14more notes on this one um do we want to talk
- 8:17about the tony jefferson injection And that hit
- 8:20at all? No, I didn't see it. Oh. He got ejected
- 8:24for, well, unsportsmanlike conduct, like hit
- 8:28to the head on a defenseless receiver. Was it
- 8:31bad? I didn't think so. His face mask was up.
- 8:36He made contact to the head and neck. So I understand
- 8:40throwing the flag. But the reason, like ejecting
- 8:43it was just kind of like whatever. Because Tyquan
- 8:45Bolton or Tyquan Thornton was. like going to
- 8:50the ground and shrinking to like reduce his size
- 8:54and try to not get hit, like bracing for impact.
- 8:57So it feels like it was a bang, bang play. Yeah.
- 8:59So, yeah. So your argument, which I kind of agree
- 9:02with, oh man, that's tough though. That's tough.
- 9:04I mean, Jefferson is leading with his head, but
- 9:07like you said, if he's trying to protect him,
- 9:08he does bend over and try to kind of go down
- 9:11with it. So if you're putting your head in the
- 9:13situation to get hit, if he's already trying
- 9:15to aim for your chest or whatever, I get it.
- 9:17That's, that's tough. That's a tough play. I
- 9:19don't know. I think that's the plays in football
- 9:22that need to not be called because what do you
- 9:24want anyone to do in that position other than
- 9:27him just totally... I don't even try to avoid
- 9:30him, but you're naturally going to protect yourself.
- 9:33He didn't launch at him. It didn't look like
- 9:37it was a vicious attempt to... You're saying
- 9:39as far as Thornton goes, you're naturally going
- 9:40to try to protect yourself? Both of them. That's
- 9:43what you do when you play. As a defensive back,
- 9:46my objective is to tackle the... receiver i mean
- 9:50like even if he wanted to get out of the way
- 9:53in the play i think all he's gonna do is open
- 9:56himself up to injury yeah you know yeah no if
- 10:00you if you Like, where is he supposed to go?
- 10:02If you stop, you know, or try to take something
- 10:04off as you're going, that's when injuries happen.
- 10:06Oh, for sure it does. Like, that's a bang -bang
- 10:09play. He does kind of stop. Look at his feet.
- 10:11He kind of plants his feet. I don't know. Yeah.
- 10:13That's tough. That's a tough call. I know. Interesting.
- 10:15I didn't agree with it. And I think the other
- 10:18thing we didn't talk about was the Mahomes injury
- 10:20late in the game. Oh. Yeah. Well, he was coming
- 10:23up in tent talk. Oh. But. Where were you, Rob?
- 10:26Anyway, it was your thing. I'm on a boat. Yeah,
- 10:29I see. No, we'll talk about Mahomes in the next
- 10:33segment, so make sure you tune in for 10 Talk
- 10:34to find out what happened to Mahomes if you don't
- 10:37already know, but you probably do. It's like
- 10:39worldwide news. Yeah, yeah, yeah. All right,
- 10:42my last question, though, before we move on here.
- 10:44Is this the beginning of the end for, like, the
- 10:46Chiefs division, like, gimme's? You know, Vegas
- 10:49is kind of whatever, but Denver and Chargers
- 10:52for the next possible couple years, they're kind
- 10:53of built to at least be competitive for the next
- 10:56two, three years. these aren't really gimme games
- 11:00for the chiefs anymore. Like say the chargers
- 11:02were a couple of years ago and Herbert was just
- 11:03first getting gone, you know, and Denver was
- 11:07a. It was a nightmare a couple years ago. That's
- 11:10a really good question. I think with how competitive
- 11:12the AFC West is, even this year with the Broncos
- 11:15and the Chargers, maybe the next couple while
- 11:20the Chiefs try and retool that offense. Yeah,
- 11:22and I don't think they've got to go into a rebuild.
- 11:24I think retool is the correct usage there. I
- 11:27mean, I look at it as a Vikings fan. When Aaron
- 11:30Rodgers was at Green Bay, every year I was like...
- 11:35they might make a run so i look at patrick i
- 11:38look at patrick mahomes the same way you know
- 11:39you're gonna give him a couple guys i mean if
- 11:41they get a decent high receiver next year in
- 11:44the draft and like some little scary or a stud
- 11:47tight end or something or plays kelsey freaking
- 11:49running or running back you know i mean breeze
- 11:52hall is gonna be available maybe i'd take him
- 11:56too that's what i'm saying like they're you know
- 11:58if they suddenly get a bad ass back you're gonna
- 12:02be like all right cheese are back yeah for sure
- 12:04i mean they still got clark and jones in the
- 12:07middle they got a bunch of defensive you know
- 12:09pieces still so yeah they if we're talking running
- 12:12back they have to hit on that they tried to and
- 12:15haven't been very successful with it is when
- 12:17they drafted clyde clyde edward hilarious uh
- 12:21from injury kind of ruined his career and but
- 12:24everyone was like oh look out uh but that's every
- 12:26running back you know that gets that injury bug
- 12:29i mean you look at J .K. Dobbins on the other
- 12:32side. James Gurley. What a career he would have
- 12:36had. Who? Todd. Todd Gurley. What did I say?
- 12:39James? Who's James Gurley? I don't know. Oh,
- 12:42dude, he's one of our football players that I
- 12:43coached this year. That's why. Shout out to James
- 12:46Gurley. Wow. Shout out to James Gurley. Dang.
- 12:48What am I doing? Anyway. Comparison. Todd Gurley
- 12:51and James Gurley. Same guy. Same guy. All right.
- 12:54Anyway, we should probably, we probably have
- 12:56to move on, Kev, huh? Okay. Yep. So anyway, let's
- 13:00see. The next game, man. Talk about a classic
- 13:02tale of two halves, two running backs, two quarterbacks.
- 13:04Bills at Pats. Patriots. I'm sorry. Bills getting
- 13:08the win. 35 -31, but. what happened there this
- 13:13is another game where a lead was a massive lead
- 13:17was blown yeah and we still have yet to talk
- 13:20about another game where it also happened but
- 13:22not as massively but anyway um what's your first
- 13:25take on on this game i'm actually want to go
- 13:27to jake first since he's an afc fan he's seen
- 13:29the patriots do well for a long time yeah um
- 13:34so what i saw was the very unrable -like thing
- 13:42where they got away from their identity and who
- 13:44they are. In the second half, they only ran the
- 13:47ball three times. Well, they didn't pass it much
- 13:51either. Well, they tried to pass it, but they
- 13:53couldn't because the Bills' defense, and that's
- 13:55the other thing, really tightened up on their
- 13:58pass defense. A little man -to -man. The refs
- 14:01let them play a little bit. And that front four
- 14:03was really getting after that old line and penetrating.
- 14:07So hats off to the Bills' defense. really forgetting
- 14:12after May, making them uncomfortable and not
- 14:14being able to throw a comfortable pass at all
- 14:17in the second half. So you're definitely, that
- 14:19was going to be one of my questions, is about
- 14:22that lead, letting that slip at home, too, at
- 14:25that. So you're more along the lines of saying
- 14:28that they really, it's play calling, really.
- 14:32Yeah, I think it was play calling. With Mike
- 14:34Vrabel, you're accustomed to... What I make notes
- 14:39here as far as like kind of my disappointment
- 14:41with Rabel today or yesterday was he's a great
- 14:44coach and a culture builder. And he hangs his
- 14:47hat on fundamentals and situational football.
- 14:49Like if you're up by 20, you're saying, where
- 14:51was that situation? Yeah. If you're up by 21,
- 14:53where's your situational football? Where's your
- 14:55fundamentals in continuing to run the ball? Because
- 14:59Travion Henderson, two big plays. And then you're,
- 15:05that's it. You still have Ramond Ray Stevenson
- 15:07as a real big bruising back and just felt off
- 15:13that they were like, Oh, I do. I do agree. But
- 15:16late, late in the game too. I think this was,
- 15:18yeah, it was in the fourth quarter. There was
- 15:21two drives that The Patriots were unable to convert
- 15:25on the third down and then again on fourth down
- 15:28for two drives in a row. You had the opportunities
- 15:32there. For me, it was just lack of execution
- 15:35late in the game. But again, coming out of half,
- 15:37I think you hit it right on the head. Why did
- 15:39you go away from what was working? Travion Henderson
- 15:41had a ridiculous first half. I mean, I think
- 15:45it's just the classic they got tight. They got
- 15:48the lead. They got early. This is a big game.
- 15:50A lot of eyes. Big, bright lights. And then you
- 15:54get the Josh Allen effect. He gets rolling on
- 15:56that offense. James Cook gets going. The defense,
- 15:59I feel like, plays off the offense when they
- 16:01get going and that Momo rolls. And then they
- 16:04just play aggressive, tight defense. And they
- 16:07get a couple of one and two outs. Get a third
- 16:09down. And next thing you know, they're right
- 16:11back in the game. I feel like people play this
- 16:14off. not as much than pros. Like, it's a big
- 16:16deal in high school and maybe college ball. But
- 16:18having that leader in the huddle, I'd imagine,
- 16:19still matters greatly at the pro level. So that
- 16:23veteran leadership of Josh Allen, you know, in
- 16:26a game like this where, yeah, you're down, but
- 16:28you've been in these situations before and you've
- 16:31battled your way through the playoffs. Like,
- 16:34you know what it takes. So maybe that was a...
- 16:39a factor this game. And they scored right away
- 16:42in the opening drive in the second half. So now
- 16:45they're down, what, 10? They also scored right
- 16:49before halftime and scored five straight, scored
- 16:53a touchdown five straight drives, which is just
- 16:56insanity to me. Against a team that we all, I
- 17:00mean, Patriots are a playoff team and have looked
- 17:02very good. And especially how they came out this
- 17:04game. It's just got to close it out. Well, Patriots
- 17:07actually scored after the Bills scored right
- 17:09before the half. Did they? Yeah. I thought the
- 17:10Bills scored right before. They did. Yeah, the
- 17:12Bills got that touchdown and then the Patriots
- 17:15answered with a field goal. Oh, that's right.
- 17:16Time running out. Touchdown. Sorry. No, I know.
- 17:19But the scoring out of that second half, I think
- 17:22that really changes because that's when Josh
- 17:24Allen gets going there. He's on the silent. That's
- 17:26where that leader comes. comes out, gets the
- 17:27defense rolling. They get a three and out there.
- 17:30They go down a score again. Now they're only
- 17:32down three. It's pretty much a tied game, and
- 17:35those players have a ton of time left. And now
- 17:38the division is wide open. Who knows? It is.
- 17:43Okay. All right. Well, we got a dip. Kev's telling
- 17:46me to shut up. No, I'm just kidding. But yeah,
- 17:49about this one. So let's move into the next one,
- 17:51which again, we saw another lead taken away by
- 17:56another experienced quarterback who's been in
- 17:58these situations again before. Somebody playing
- 18:01at an MVP level. So many fireworks. where's where's
- 18:06my score here why am i losing it 41 34 the rams
- 18:09getting the win over the lions um yeah fireworks
- 18:12is a great way to put it i mean this game had
- 18:14it all the entire game yeah um Who's going to
- 18:19stop the Rams right now? I mean, if it was anybody,
- 18:22you'd think Detroit would have had it. Carolina
- 18:25might have stopped. That's fine. We're talking
- 18:28about right now, today. Rams are getting hot
- 18:31at the right time to me. They have Seattle, so
- 18:34we'll talk about that game later. I mean, that's
- 18:37going to be a great game. Rams are... I'm really
- 18:42starting to look like they can beat anybody in
- 18:44this league right now for me, no matter the conference.
- 18:47I mean, Matt Stafford's just playing awesome
- 18:49ball. I think the huge thing is Devontae Adams
- 18:54went down. It is big. And it's big when you have
- 19:00defenses keying for sure on Puka Nakua. You know
- 19:03what I mean? So if they're keying on him, you
- 19:05still have Devontae Adams, which is crazy. And
- 19:07in the red zone, he's such a weapon, too. So
- 19:10I think that might be big, and that might just
- 19:13bring them down to the pack a little bit. Defensively,
- 19:17there's a few little bang -ups. I think that
- 19:20D -tackle came out of the game last night. Oh,
- 19:23yeah, Fisk. Yep. yeah they're winning i think
- 19:28just stafford's playing and that game uh was
- 19:31fun um but they kind of just took it over and
- 19:34i think that defense did kind of you know was
- 19:36there a turnover that kind of changed it They
- 19:40just got ahead and then they just stopped him.
- 19:42Yeah, they both played really clean games. Just
- 19:45to pick six to eight. Which is crazy. He didn't
- 19:48get six. Oh, no, he didn't. No, but that pick
- 19:51was sick. Sick. But I can't disagree with you,
- 19:56what you're saying, really. The Rams are probably
- 19:58still my favorite right now in the NFC. They're
- 20:02probably most people's favorites. Because I feel
- 20:04like the rest of the, even the playoff teams,
- 20:06they're all kind of the same. Like any of them
- 20:08could be. beating each other any week. And I
- 20:10feel like they're all just beating up on each
- 20:12other in the division, actually, right now. The
- 20:14Rams just feel like they have that slight edge.
- 20:17Stafford, I feel like, is the edge. But like
- 20:19you said, though, with a healthy Devontae Adams,
- 20:21I mean, that is crucial. We've got three weeks
- 20:25left. Potentially, you're looking at... the rams
- 20:31getting a first round by i mean it's still up
- 20:34in the air yeah uh but i think they're the odds
- 20:37on favor right now uh to get your first round
- 20:39by so you're looking at four weeks off for davante
- 20:42adams i'm not too concerned am i concerned about
- 20:45the injury yes but the overall longevity of the
- 20:50injury i think it's going to be okay because
- 20:51then he'll come back for playoffs playoffs crazy
- 20:54too and and then they'll just get rolling again
- 20:59Cause that's that easy. I mean, it's that easy
- 21:02for Devante. Like I think he's just him being
- 21:05a little older, those hammies, you know, but
- 21:08he's still so good. He's still so good at getting
- 21:12off the line. Like, I think he's one of the,
- 21:16he's one of the best still at getting off the
- 21:19line of scrimmage, just untouched, which is crucial
- 21:22at that in that red zone area. Um, so yeah, they
- 21:25got Seattle, Atlanta, Arizona. I mean, Seattle,
- 21:28obviously, we know. I mean, that's probably a
- 21:30battle for the division right now with San Francisco
- 21:32only one game back as well. So that division's
- 21:35up for grabs. And then at Atlanta, which we're
- 21:38thinking could be a tough game for both teams,
- 21:41but I don't know. I'd imagine the Rams would
- 21:44come away with it if they're for real. And then
- 21:47Arizona, which is probably a cakewalk right now.
- 21:50For the Rams. Yeah, I mean, the Seattle Rams
- 21:53game is probably almost, could be the one seed,
- 21:56you know? Yeah, could be. The Bears, I still
- 22:03don't fully trust them, you know, of which team
- 22:06we're going to get. I don't think they're pretenders
- 22:08by any means, but I don't think they're going
- 22:10to get the one. No, I think Caleb's playing pretty
- 22:11good. He's making some ridiculous, he's making
- 22:13some throws that... he should make that are turning
- 22:16out okay, like the more second touchdown. Oh,
- 22:20God. Yes. But he's playing pretty, and they're
- 22:24running the ball really well. I told you a couple
- 22:27of weeks ago, I feel like they've got a really
- 22:29good two -headed beast of a running back tandem.
- 22:31And Smelty, you looked at me weird like I was
- 22:33crazy. Crazy. Crazy, dog. For the Bears running.
- 22:38Yeah, because I forgot who the heck their second
- 22:40one was. Amongire. Yeah. Anyway, what are we
- 22:47at? We should probably move on. Probably. You
- 22:49can do down. All right. We'll talk about. Let's
- 22:53see. We'll probably talk about these teams later.
- 22:54It's fine. Let's talk about team Vikings traveling
- 22:58to Dallas, getting the win. 3526. over the Dallas
- 23:05Cowboys. Call that a competitive W. A competitive
- 23:08W. It looked pretty good. It looked pretty good
- 23:12for the Vikes. I mean, not to hang your hat on
- 23:14for J .J. McCarthy a little bit. Yeah, the pick
- 23:16happened, but batted down at the line, tip ball.
- 23:19That's up for grabs. That happens. I wish you
- 23:23would have let Addison just a little bit on that
- 23:25deep throw and put him in the end zone, but it
- 23:27still led to a score, so I'm cool. He found him.
- 23:31Showed off that arm strength that we keep hearing
- 23:33about. Oh, he definitely has the arm. He has
- 23:35almost too much arm strength. He throws a rocket.
- 23:38He just throws fastballs. If it's under 10 yards,
- 23:41that's coming in hot. When's he going to start
- 23:43playing catch with Justin Jefferson? Because
- 23:45they're not on the same page at all. Great question.
- 23:49Jed is. I think he gets so damn excited when
- 23:52he sees 18. He throws it so damn hard. He does,
- 23:56but there's a straight drop in the end. Because
- 23:58he's able to put touch on it for everybody else.
- 24:00Lights got in his eyes on that angle. Jetta's?
- 24:03Yeah, Jetta's like, I didn't see it. It was a
- 24:06Sunday night game. It's not like the sun was
- 24:08blaring in through the stadium. The lights. The
- 24:11other. Yeah, look at that right there. Kev pulled
- 24:13it up. Look at that. Last three games. Look at
- 24:16Jetta's stats. Oh, fair. I agree. Ouch. But even
- 24:20at the Commanders game, he just got doubled the
- 24:23whole time. For sure. And, of course, he's going
- 24:25to see extra coverage. He's gentle, so he's going
- 24:27to see that extra coverage, which is also why
- 24:29Addison's been having a pretty solid season on
- 24:31the other side. You see guys like Naylor, which
- 24:34had a good game, too. But even in the one -on
- 24:39-one situations, Jedis wasn't getting separation
- 24:41yesterday. Straight up wasn't. I would have hoped
- 24:43that KOC would have done some play calls or designs
- 24:48to allow for Justin to get more open. Put him
- 24:52in motion more. Something small. Just get the
- 24:53ball in his hands. Just get the ball in his hands.
- 24:56That big crosser that he missed high that he's
- 25:00open, the end zone one. There was another out
- 25:02that he missed. I mean, there was probably four
- 25:05catches that J .J. should have had. He did have
- 25:08eight targets. Yeah, so. You're right. Maybe
- 25:11he does just get too excited. He sees it's Justin
- 25:14Jefferson. And then they had that back shoulder
- 25:16one. That back shoulder one or down the sideline.
- 25:20That little goal route. Usually Jetta comes up
- 25:24with that catch. So that was the one I was actually
- 25:26out of all of them. I was surprised Jetta didn't
- 25:28catch other than the touchdown. But he said afterwards
- 25:30that he told J .J. or someone got J .J.'s We'll
- 25:36say nine. Yeah, we got somebody that that Jefferson
- 25:39said he lost in the in the lights. That's what
- 25:42he told nine, nine, nine. All right. So cool.
- 25:45Cool. What about Dallas on the other side of
- 25:48things? I mean, that their season's over. Does
- 25:49that officially officially kicks him out of the
- 25:51playoffs? Well, we don't care about the Cowboys,
- 25:55but for those that the Cowboy fans, for those
- 25:57that do, are they in a little bit of trouble
- 26:01here? Do you think they just simply run it back?
- 26:02Try to add a piece or two. What's their biggest
- 26:05malfunction? Defensively and the secondary. I
- 26:09mean, they're the same. They overpaid Bland just
- 26:12to keep him like we overpaid Byron Murphy. Sure.
- 26:15Same scenario. Quinn Williams and what's his
- 26:20face? Clarky. That's a nice little one, too.
- 26:25I mean, they need to add Drusher, and they need
- 26:28secondary help. Offensively. I mean, does Jay
- 26:33Williams look like you're every down between
- 26:35the 20s back? Has been this year, damn it. Okay,
- 26:38all right. He has been this year. But you need
- 26:39a better spell guy, or you go get a stud, and
- 26:43now Jay will is your spell guy, and that's great.
- 26:46That's a great problem to have. Yeah, so they
- 26:49need a retool. I mean, I don't know what their
- 26:51draft picks totally worked out when they did
- 26:53parts, and then they did the thing for Quinn
- 26:55Williams. I don't remember what it worked out
- 26:58to be. Fair enough. Fair enough. But, yeah. I'm
- 27:03just excited as a Vikings fan that everyone can
- 27:06take a fucking sigh of relief. Sorry, I swore.
- 27:10But it kind of looks like we got a guy, maybe.
- 27:17Again, the game's coming up. The games that are
- 27:19coming up. The Packer game. And then we play
- 27:21the Lions one more time or the Bears? It's like,
- 27:23are the Cowboys out? I thought the Cowboys still
- 27:26have a shot. They do a 1 % chance. Yeah. Sorry.
- 27:30They need the Eagles to lose out. They got Rob's
- 27:33odds. So, J .J. McCarthy, for me, needs to have
- 27:36a good game against Detroit and Green Bay. That's
- 27:38what I'm looking at. Because both those teams
- 27:40are still going to be playing for something,
- 27:41most likely. They're probably playing their starters.
- 27:44That's where I want to see him shine. Especially
- 27:45with the Micah Parsons. What is your level of
- 27:47good? What he's, what he showed us this game.
- 27:50That was pretty good. Like two, three, three
- 27:51touchdowns. No, no picks, but that pick, I'd
- 27:55also don't put on them fully. You know, I got
- 27:57tipped up once a tip ball happens. That is who
- 28:00knows. That's fair game. What do we got? We got
- 28:02giants, which has a really nice front four. So
- 28:05it's going to be tough to run against them. I
- 28:08mean, that'll be difficult. That'll be difficult
- 28:10for January. I agree, but I feel like they're
- 28:12not playing. And the Lions, I mean, they got
- 28:14probably one of the best pass rushing dudes,
- 28:16you know. Yeah, but that Lions secondary is so
- 28:18banged up. It is. Which will help. And then we
- 28:23got the Packers, probably Parsonless. That's
- 28:27what I mean. Opportunities against decent teams,
- 28:29though. Missing a couple pieces, but you got
- 28:31to shred them. Yeah, I just want to see them
- 28:32just continue to incline like Drake Mayne did
- 28:37last year. May. And not gritting into the end
- 28:41zone, pissing off KLC. Oh, I like the gritty.
- 28:43I did, too. No, KFC did not like it. That was
- 28:46such a great bootleg. He said he did it in practice
- 28:48and told not to do it, and then he did it. Breaking
- 28:51the law. Breaking the law. Breaking the law.
- 28:54Rebel. He's just trying to earn some cred with
- 28:57the rest of the offense. I like it. I like it.
- 29:00I'm sure. I believe it. I think they'll bounce
- 29:02back just fine next year. Of course. Naturally.
- 29:03Next year's our year. Duh. Grenard out, by the
- 29:06way. Sucks. Missed. How long? Okay, well. Shoulder
- 29:10surgery, so it's fine. Anyway, we're not fine
- 29:13for him. Hey, he had a good year. He did have
- 29:15a decent year. It was all right. That's it. That's
- 29:18it. That's this episode here. Roberto. I loved
- 29:22it. Welcome back, coach. Well, thanks, buddy.
