Speaker 3: Doctor Casey Sachs a Bridge Valley is with us.
• 2:58
Speaker 6: Hey, good morning, Dave.
• 3:00
Speaker 3: How's it going to see today? You picked a great
• 3:02
Speaker 3: time to be here. Well, it's Radio threat.
• 3:04
Speaker 6: Day to be here.
• 3:05
Speaker 3: It's only next to Toyota thought.
• 3:07
  Speaker 7: You know.
• 3:07
Speaker 6: As far as importance, Well, you're raising money for a
• 3:10
  Speaker 6: really terrific cause.
• 3:12
  Speaker 3: Yeah we are.
• 3:12
Speaker 5: And again, all of our stations are not only the
• 3:15
Speaker 5: stations in this building, all of our stations, but all
• 3:18
Speaker 5: of us across the state are doing something right now.
• 3:20
Speaker 5: I know Rob Real from our sister station ninety six
• 3:23
Speaker 5: one KWS is in Morgantown at the hospital right now.
• 3:26
Speaker 5: Jenny Murray, I think from V one hundred is also
• 3:28
Speaker 5: up there as well. This is the thing where we
• 3:30
Speaker 5: all get together, all of our stations, and we do this,
• 3:33
Speaker 5: try to raise money. And we picked up WU children
• 3:37
Speaker 5: just a couple of years ago, and I think, well,
• 3:39
Speaker 5: this is our second year of doing it with them,
• 3:40
Speaker 5: I believe, and they've just been a fantastic partner to
• 3:43
Speaker 5: deal with and try trying to help out some kids
• 3:46
  Speaker 5: and families.
• 3:47
Speaker 6: And they leave you Thomas Hospital Foundations.
• 3:49
Speaker 3: Well there you go.
• 3:49
Speaker 6: So we're really excited that you're doing this too.
• 3:52
Speaker 5: I want to talk about Bridge Valley for a moment.
• 3:54
Speaker 5: Most public schools are back in session. I know where
• 3:56
Speaker 5: I live in Putnam County classes started today. Most colleges
• 3:59
Speaker 5: are back to including a Bridge Valley where classes started
• 4:02
Speaker 5: there on Monday. How to go for the first day?
• 4:04
Speaker 6: Really agree, it's so fun to have students back on campus.
• 4:07
Speaker 6: I love when the parking lots full.
• 4:09
  Speaker 3: It is.
• 4:09
Speaker 5: Indeed, what kind of activities do you have for students
• 4:12
Speaker 5: when they came back in the first day.
• 4:13
Speaker 6: We always do special things for Welcome Back Week, Lots
• 4:17
Speaker 6: of just stuff to get students out and engaged, things
• 4:20
Speaker 6: from laser tag to lunches. But my favorite, they didn't.
• 4:23
Speaker 3: Have laser tag when I was in school.
• 4:24
Speaker 6: I'm sorry, you're really missing it.
• 4:26
  Speaker 8: Good.
• 4:27
Speaker 6: My favorite thing this week has been dining with the deans.
• 4:30
Speaker 6: It's lunch where students can meet the deans for their
• 4:33
Speaker 6: academic areas, and I feel like it's really the beginning
• 4:36
Speaker 6: of mentorship and getting more connected to programs and academic
• 4:39
Speaker 6: leadership in their programs. And that's all just so important
• 4:42
Speaker 6: for thinking about their workforce and careers as they move forward.
• 4:45
Speaker 5: And you know, one of the great things we talk
• 4:47
Speaker 5: about at Bridge Valley, we talked about it the last
• 4:49
Speaker 5: time you were on is the student to teacher or
• 4:51
Speaker 5: instructor ratio and dining with the deans. Is probably not
• 4:56
Speaker 5: something that you're going to get at a larger university.
• 4:59
Speaker 6: No, it's possible that they might do something like that
• 5:01
Speaker 6: for an honors college or a first select group of students,
• 5:04
Speaker 6: but it's something that we try and do for all
• 5:06
Speaker 6: of our students and we've done. We did one for
• 5:09
Speaker 6: engineering students in the building where they have most of
• 5:11
Speaker 6: their classes, one for health science students in the building
• 5:14
Speaker 6: where they have most of their classes, and then one
• 5:16
Speaker 6: in Montgomery for students who have most of their classes
• 5:18
Speaker 6: in Montgomery. So we really tried to make sure that
• 5:21
Speaker 6: everybody would have access.
• 5:22
Speaker 5: Talking to doctor Casey Saxonbridge value of the Dave Aland
• 5:24
Speaker 5: Show in five Vetey Live. It's brought to you by
• 5:26
Speaker 5: Morgan and Morgan with more than twenty billion dollars recovered.
• 5:28
Speaker 5: They believe when you're injured, you deserve more. Morgan and
• 5:31
Speaker 5: Morgan America's largest injury law firm.
• 5:33
Speaker 3: I want to talk about graduation.
• 5:35
Speaker 5: Classes just started, but you had a graduation of sorts
• 5:39
Speaker 5: for the Green Power We.
• 5:41
Speaker 6: Did so we had a cohort of GreenPower motor students
• 5:44
Speaker 6: who graduated as certified production technicians yesterday. It was a
• 5:49
Speaker 6: terrific ceremony out at GreenPower Motor Company. So they hosted
• 5:53
Speaker 6: and we created a stage right in front of a
• 5:56
Speaker 6: school bus production line, and they shut down production and
• 5:59
Speaker 6: brought in a food truck and it was really celebratory.
• 6:01
Speaker 6: Families all came out and we gave all of the
• 6:04
Speaker 6: graduates their certificate, they walked across the stage. It was
• 6:07
Speaker 6: it was a wonderful event. And Green Power actually gave
• 6:10
Speaker 6: everybody a promotion who completed.
• 6:12
Speaker 3: They got good, got a dollar a promotion.
• 6:15
Speaker 6: They got a dollar an hour raise, which was which
• 6:17
Speaker 6: was a really nice acknowledgment of the work that they
• 6:19
Speaker 6: put in to get their certification and that they went
• 6:22
Speaker 6: through the program and were committed to their schooling.
• 6:24
Speaker 3: Now what goes into that program? What kind of things
• 6:27
Speaker 3: do they learn there?
• 6:28
Speaker 6: So certified Production Tech is a little bit of electrical,
• 6:31
Speaker 6: a little bit green energy, a lot about batteries, certainly safety,
• 6:36
Speaker 6: it's a lot about the production fabrication that's going into
• 6:40
Speaker 6: making the buses that they make at the facility.
• 6:43
  Speaker 3: Let's talk about a business. You're doing a business happy
• 6:46
  Speaker 3: hour event.
• 6:46
Speaker 6: We are, so if anybody's listening and their business, who's
• 6:49
Speaker 6: affiliated with us or who wants to be affiliated with us.
• 6:52
Speaker 6: If people have heard me talk about learn and earn
• 6:54
Speaker 6: and they feel like, gosh, I would like to talk
• 6:57
Speaker 6: to someone in person about this. We're doing a happy
• 6:59
Speaker 6: hour on Monday at the Toyota Hall at South Charleston
• 7:03
Speaker 6: and we just want people to come out and have
• 7:05
Speaker 6: a drink and some appetizers and chat and learn about
• 7:07
Speaker 6: the college and let us thank them for being such
• 7:10
  Speaker 6: good business partners.
• 7:11
Speaker 5: Now, so just anybody that's contributed to anybody that anybody,
• 7:15
Speaker 5: anybody can show up to.
• 7:16
Speaker 3: That right what times the start?
• 7:17
Speaker 6: It starts at six o'clock.
• 7:18
Speaker 5: Okay, and that's in the Toyota Hall. It's not hard
• 7:20
Speaker 5: to find that Toyota Hall sign is.
• 7:22
Speaker 3: A big, pretty big, pretty big building. Yeah, pretty big sign.
• 7:24
Speaker 6: But it's the if the South Charleston Tech Park, the
• 7:28
Speaker 6: space that used to be now, so a lot of
• 7:30
Speaker 6: people are more familiar with its life in the past.
• 7:32
  Speaker 3: Sure.
• 7:33
  Speaker 9: Yeah.
• 7:33
Speaker 5: I always helps to mention that, you know, one of
• 7:35
Speaker 5: the sponsors to the show is the Charleston dirty Birds,
• 7:39
Speaker 5: our hometown baseball team.
• 7:40
Speaker 3: And I'll go ahead and tell you something about then.
• 7:41
Speaker 5: They're going to wrap up their road series at Southern
• 7:43
Speaker 5: Maryland tonight and If you need tickets, schedule promotions, dirty
• 7:47
Speaker 5: birds gear or whatever, just visit Dirtybirds baseball dot com.
• 7:50
Speaker 5: But Bridge Valley is going to take over the ballpark,
• 7:53
Speaker 5: or not take over, you're just going to sort of.
• 7:54
Speaker 6: Be there sponsor. So next Thursday, Bridge Valley Night at
• 7:58
Speaker 6: the power Park, everyone had come out. It's a very
• 8:01
Speaker 6: family friendly event, as you know, if you're a Uribirds fan,
• 8:05
Speaker 6: it's the kind of place where you really can't take
• 8:06
Speaker 6: kids and sit and watch some really fun baseball. I know,
• 8:10
Speaker 6: I took my dad out when he came to visit me,
• 8:11
Speaker 6: and we had such a good time. He thought the
• 8:14
Speaker 6: people who cheer behind home base were a plus.
• 8:16
Speaker 3: Did he get to meet the toast Master, Rod Blackstone?
• 8:19
Speaker 6: He did. He was really excited.
• 8:20
Speaker 5: You know, everybody should should meet and hang out with
• 8:23
Speaker 5: Rod Blackstone at least once or twice, even whether it's
• 8:25
Speaker 5: even didn't have to necessarily be a game, just anywhere,
• 8:27
Speaker 5: because the guy is walking fun.
• 8:29
Speaker 3: I mean, I mean he really is. Well I'm glad
• 8:31
Speaker 3: they get And what night is that at the ballpark?
• 8:33
  Speaker 6: Thursday night?
• 8:33
Speaker 3: That is next Thursday night, the twenty ninth. All right,
• 8:37
Speaker 3: and you're going to Harvard.
• 8:39
Speaker 6: I am so This was really a fun opportunity. Harvard,
• 8:43
Speaker 6: the School of Government there, called and said, we put
• 8:46
Speaker 6: on a conference once a year about innovative school models,
• 8:49
Speaker 6: and we want to feature West Virginia. We're really interested
• 8:51
Speaker 6: in the Win Academy at Bridge Valley. Will you come
• 8:54
Speaker 6: out to Harvard and teach us what it is that
• 8:56
Speaker 6: you're doing in West Virginia.
• 8:57
Speaker 3: So I hold on, and this is what I want to.
• 8:59
Speaker 5: I want to I want to rack them up and
• 9:00
Speaker 5: shoot them again that my grandfather has to say on this.
• 9:03
Speaker 5: Harvard reached out to someone, a smaller college in West
• 9:08
Speaker 5: Virginia called Bridge Valley, you specifically, but representing your institution
• 9:13
Speaker 5: from Harvard, wanted you to come there to show them
• 9:17
Speaker 5: what we're doing here.
• 9:18
  Speaker 3: At Bridge Valley.
• 9:19
  Speaker 6: Yes, it's great, isn't it.
• 9:20
  Speaker 3: That's pretty cool.
• 9:21
Speaker 6: It is really cool, and part of that is such
• 9:23
Speaker 6: a testament to my team. It's a really innovative model
• 9:26
Speaker 6: getting students in high school on a pathway to be
• 9:29
Speaker 6: able to complete a career early, get into the workforce earlier,
• 9:32
Speaker 6: for anyone who knows what they want to do. It's
• 9:34
Speaker 6: such a great deal. And so we'll be talking about
• 9:39
Speaker 6: it here in a couple of weeks.
• 9:40
  Speaker 3: That's really cool.
• 9:40
Speaker 5: I'm actually familiar with that particular school that you're talking
• 9:43
Speaker 5: about because in my past life and some governmental things
• 9:45
Speaker 5: I did, I actually did some work with that school.
• 9:47
Speaker 3: Now, they didn't invite me to come up to speak.
• 9:48
Speaker 3: They came here, you can come take you with me.
• 9:51
Speaker 5: Yes, well, I've never been to Harvard, so I know
• 9:54
Speaker 5: listeners are going, Really you didn't go to Harvard day
• 9:56
Speaker 5: but find that hard.
• 9:56
Speaker 3: To believe, they said, tell me and cheek.
• 9:58
Speaker 5: But I am familiar with it school to government up
• 10:00
Speaker 5: there because they have visited West Virginia several times. And
• 10:03
Speaker 5: I got a chance to work with them and take
• 10:05
Speaker 5: them through some areas of southern West Virginia that those.
• 10:08
Speaker 3: Those students and I call them kids, but at that
• 10:11
Speaker 3: point they weren't kids anymore. They were they were adults.
• 10:13
Speaker 5: I got a chance to take them to McDowell County
• 10:16
Speaker 5: and I got a chance to take them through southern
• 10:18
  Speaker 5: They weren't.
• 10:19
Speaker 3: As one of them said, I don't think we're in
• 10:20
  Speaker 3: Cambridge anymore.
• 10:21
Speaker 6: Yeah, it's really different.
• 10:23
Speaker 3: It was very different.
• 10:24
Speaker 5: There's a learning experience for them as well. And you
• 10:26
Speaker 5: got a golf tournament coming up.
• 10:28
Speaker 6: We do. We have a golf tournament coming up in
• 10:29
Speaker 6: October and Little Creek. We're really excited about it. If
• 10:32
Speaker 6: you want to play golf, have a foursome, come out
• 10:34
Speaker 6: and support the college. It's for student scholarships.
• 10:37
  Speaker 5: All right.
• 10:37
Speaker 3: What else is going on? Anything other than we didn't.
• 10:40
Speaker 6: Cover so many things, But we'll pause.
• 10:43
Speaker 5: There now, Doctor Casey Sacksonbridge Valley. I always appreciate you
• 10:47
Speaker 5: stopping by and give.
• 10:48
Speaker 6: Us the website Bridge Valley dot edu.
• 10:50
Speaker 3: And you got a lot of exciting things going on.
• 10:53
Speaker 5: The scholarship program that you do, I mean is where
• 10:57
Speaker 5: you work with businesses and I mean it's it's going
• 10:59
Speaker 5: on almost going back to the beginning where we started
• 11:01
Speaker 5: with the green Power thing. That's just like one part
• 11:03
Speaker 5: of it. It's an amazing program.
• 11:05
  Speaker 7: You're going there.
• 11:06
Speaker 6: Green Power is a really good example of what we
• 11:08
Speaker 6: can do with a business, and so any other business
• 11:10
Speaker 6: that's excited or wants to hire a cohort of people
• 11:13
Speaker 6: were really happy to do customized training for them.
• 11:15
Speaker 5: I like that customized training. In other words, business leaders
• 11:19
Speaker 5: contact Bridge Valley and say here's what we need. And
• 11:22
Speaker 5: I think this is such a great model. And this
• 11:24
Speaker 5: is going on at some other institutions of higher learning
• 11:26
Speaker 5: as well across the country that for so long, these
• 11:29
Speaker 5: learning factories, and I hate to use that term, but
• 11:34
Speaker 5: institutions of higher learning have produced and they've trained up
• 11:37
Speaker 5: these students and sent them out to the business world,
• 11:40
Speaker 5: and maybe the business world looks at them and say, well,
• 11:42
Speaker 5: that's not what we need. It's great that you have
• 11:44
Speaker 5: this certification of this degree, but this is not what
• 11:47
  Speaker 5: we need.
• 11:48
  Speaker 3: Now you guys.
• 11:49
Speaker 5: And another institutions too have kind of reversed it in
• 11:52
Speaker 5: the business people. You're going to business people first and
• 11:54
Speaker 5: saying what do we need to teach these students.
• 11:56
  Speaker 6: That's right. It's a real partnership. And we're so thankful
• 12:00
Speaker 6: of the businesses in this area who are committed to saying,
• 12:03
Speaker 6: let's make sure we train the workforce that we need
• 12:06
Speaker 6: because that's what's going to help get people jobs here
• 12:08
Speaker 6: and be able to stay here. And so that's all
• 12:10
Speaker 6: really important that we work together, all right.
• 12:12
Speaker 3: Doctor Katie Sacks, it's always a pleasure to have you
• 12:14
Speaker 3: on the show. Thanks a lot, Thank you so much.

Speaker 10: House District fifty two, which is the Upper Canal Valley, Okay.
• 16:24
Speaker 3: And so mainly the Upper Kanal Valley.
• 16:27
Speaker 5: What communities for those who are listening to I mean,
• 16:29
Speaker 5: just give me a few of the communities. And when
• 16:31
Speaker 5: we say Upper Kanal Valley, just so people that may
• 16:33
Speaker 5: be listening aren't familiar with them.
• 16:35
Speaker 10: It is the part of Kanaw City that is around
• 16:37
Speaker 10: the Mall area. It goes up to Montgomery that also
• 16:41
Speaker 10: slides over into Fayette County. You cross the river and
• 16:45
Speaker 10: you go from Houston all the way down to.
• 16:47
Speaker 3: Rand That is a pretty diverse area. I mean, as
• 16:49
Speaker 3: far as it's a lot of ground to cover, Yes.
• 16:51
  Speaker 7: It is.
• 16:52
Speaker 10: It's my hometown. I grew up in Marmatt so well
• 16:55
Speaker 10: versed in the area, and you know, love where I live.
• 16:58
Speaker 3: What do they call people from mar Matt's Are you Marmadians?
• 17:01
  Speaker 10: Marmitian?
• 17:02
Speaker 3: Marmitian? All right, make a note of that, Ryan, they're
• 17:04
  Speaker 3: Marmeician Libans.
• 17:05
Speaker 9: I did not know that.
• 17:06
Speaker 3: Yes, see, I've learned something today. Marmitians. I kind of
• 17:09
  Speaker 3: like that.
• 17:10
Speaker 5: So why are you getting involved in this camp? Not
• 17:11
Speaker 5: the political campaign, We'll talk about that a little bit
• 17:13
Speaker 5: later on, but why did you decide to help us
• 17:15
Speaker 5: out with this WV children's thing.
• 17:17
Speaker 10: I've been a nurse for a little over twenty six
• 17:19
Speaker 10: years and kids are near and dear to my heart.
• 17:22
Speaker 10: They're the future of our nation. And I also grew
• 17:26
Speaker 10: up with a childhood friend and this has stuck in
• 17:29
Speaker 10: my mind and my heart my entire life. Her sister
• 17:34
Speaker 10: was diagnosed with leukemia. And you know, when Ron contacted
• 17:39
Speaker 10: me about the potential to do an ad, I'm like, oh, absolutely,
• 17:43
Speaker 10: you know this is something that we need to make
• 17:45
Speaker 10: sure there's support, great awareness, and you know, as I said,
• 17:50
Speaker 10: these kids are the future of our nation and we
• 17:53
  Speaker 10: need to do.
• 17:53
Speaker 3: All that we can to help, and sometimes, Teresa, that's
• 17:57
  Speaker 3: what it takes.
• 17:58
Speaker 5: I mean, we all know that this is a very,
• 18:00
Speaker 5: very worthwhile cause that all of our stations are involved
• 18:03
Speaker 5: in in the community and the business community as well,
• 18:05
Speaker 5: But sometimes it does take that personal story, you know,
• 18:09
  Speaker 5: kind of like.
• 18:10
Speaker 10: What you had, absolutely and when you look at the
• 18:12
Speaker 10: children that we have in our state of West Virginia,
• 18:16
Speaker 10: we really need to push hard so that way we
• 18:18
Speaker 10: can do all that we can to make sure that
• 18:21
Speaker 10: they are successful. You know that their health is taken
• 18:25
Speaker 10: care of, and you know they have what they need
• 18:27
Speaker 10: to be able to grow up and mature into adults.
• 18:30
Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean it's very important.
• 18:31
  Speaker 12: You know.
• 18:31
  Speaker 5: We'll talk with Teresa Howe, who's a political candidate. We're
• 18:34
Speaker 5: going to let her talk about that a little bit
• 18:35
Speaker 5: later on, but she's talking what made you want to
• 18:37
Speaker 5: decide to be a nurse?
• 18:39
Speaker 10: When I was in high school, I had a algebra
• 18:42
Speaker 10: teacher's name was mister Taylor, and he saw the potential.
• 18:46
Speaker 10: I was great at math. I was very caring and kind.
• 18:50
Speaker 10: I was the class president my senior year of high school,
• 18:54
Speaker 10: and I was well organized.
• 18:55
  Speaker 6: I was a leader.
• 18:57
Speaker 10: And he said, have you ever thought about going into healthcare,
• 19:00
Speaker 10: and I had not at that point as far as
• 19:02
Speaker 10: nursing goes. I thought of another field. He's like, why
• 19:06
Speaker 10: don't you look into it and consider it? And so
• 19:08
Speaker 10: I was a volleyball player of many years, and I
• 19:12
Speaker 10: teamed up with the University of Charleston and the coaches
• 19:17
Speaker 10: there were. One of them was also my junior high
• 19:19
Speaker 10: school my junior high school coach, and so I ended
• 19:22
Speaker 10: up getting a scholarship and I played there for a
• 19:24
Speaker 10: short while and went through nursing school and I graduated
• 19:28
Speaker 10: from the University of Charleston with a bachelor's degree.
• 19:30
Speaker 6: And I just love the field. Right.
• 19:33
Speaker 5: Well, we're a better place, I think for you being
• 19:35
Speaker 5: a part of it. Let's talk about your political campaign.
• 19:37
Speaker 5: We'll give you an opportunity to do that. You are
• 19:40
Speaker 5: running for office again. Why did you decide to run
• 19:42
Speaker 5: for a district? What was the district against?
• 19:43
Speaker 6: It's district fifty two fifty two.
• 19:45
Speaker 3: Yeah, why did you decide to run for office?
• 19:48
Speaker 10: The Upper Kennal Valley. Each person that I talked to,
• 19:51
Speaker 10: they are really looking for a representative that is engaged
• 19:54
Speaker 10: in the community, that is well known and has a
• 19:58
Speaker 10: deep commitment and love to see in great things for
• 20:01
Speaker 10: the Upper Canal Valley and I'm that person. We have
• 20:05
Speaker 10: we sit on one of the richest places, I believe,
• 20:08
Speaker 10: in West Virginia with all of the resources we have.
• 20:11
Speaker 10: We have coal, oil gas, we have as far as
• 20:16
Speaker 10: transportation goes, we have highway, we have river, we have railway,
• 20:21
Speaker 10: and so I really want to see great things happen
• 20:25
Speaker 10: for our kids, especially. I have a deep seated love
• 20:29
Speaker 10: for our seniors. I want to see them to be
• 20:30
Speaker 10: able to retire and really enjoy the environment and things
• 20:35
Speaker 10: that we have. So those are just some of the
• 20:37
Speaker 10: things that I'm very interested in.
• 20:39
Speaker 5: Well have you on as we get a little bit
• 20:40
Speaker 5: closer to the campaign, So you've been out and about
• 20:42
Speaker 5: shaking hands and knocking doors and doing all.
• 20:45
Speaker 3: The doing all the stuff.
• 20:47
Speaker 10: That's the great part about the campaign is you get
• 20:49
Speaker 10: to go out and talk to everybody and see what
• 20:52
Speaker 10: their issues are. And that's what this campaign is all about.
• 20:55
Speaker 10: It's about the people in the community, their needs, you know,
• 20:59
Speaker 10: things that they would like to see changed, things that
• 21:02
Speaker 10: they want to see grow. And that's what this campaign's about.
• 21:05
Speaker 3: All Right, Well, Teresa, we're gonna go and let you go.
• 21:07

Speaker 5: the Metro nine to one one Employees Association is pledging

Speaker 5: that this is part of the money, he tells me

Speaker 5: in the text, that they made off their pickleball tournament.

Speaker 3: They said the best for last right, Well you started
• 23:15
Speaker 3: off on the on the weekly show that the lawyer on.
• 23:20
Speaker 14: This Okay, good good. At least you and at least
• 23:24
Speaker 14: two other people work because we had two calls. So no,
• 23:27
Speaker 14: I think we get a pretty good little audience. We've
• 23:29
Speaker 14: been doing it every Thursday at eight twenty for since
• 23:31
Speaker 14: nineteen eight ninety nine something like that, every single Thursday,
• 23:35
Speaker 14: and we try not to miss so. But yeah, we've
• 23:38
Speaker 14: been making the rounds to talk about this great fundraiser
• 23:41
Speaker 14: that you're doing it.
• 23:42
  Speaker 3: Sell was it?
• 23:43
Speaker 14: Johnny Rufford called in, Yeah, using some of the money
• 23:45
Speaker 14: they made from the pickleball to which is great. That's
• 23:47
Speaker 14: in Nitro where our office is. I actually played last
• 23:49
Speaker 14: year in the inaugural one. I was out of town.
• 23:51
Speaker 14: This year. But pickleball is a great sport, and it's
• 23:54
Speaker 14: great that they can use some of those funds to
• 23:56
Speaker 14: pass along to the w Children's Hospital.
• 23:58
Speaker 5: Indeed, and I've tried to wrap my head around because
• 24:02
Speaker 5: it's been a long time Tom since a sport has
• 24:05
Speaker 5: come in and really just took off. Maybe just because
• 24:08
Speaker 5: there haven't been a whole lot of newer sports of
• 24:09
Speaker 5: the last hundred years.
• 24:10
Speaker 3: Well, pickle ball is so popular, man, I have my
• 24:12
  Speaker 3: theory on it.
• 24:13
  Speaker 14: I mean, I played tennis a little bit when I
• 24:14
Speaker 14: was younger, and then play some ping pong if I'm
• 24:17
Speaker 14: out a party or something. In college, played some ping pong.
• 24:19
Speaker 3: But pickleball, you know what you mean when you say play.
• 24:22
Speaker 3: When you said play ping pong in college, that's right.
• 24:24
Speaker 14: It was a modified game but good. But you know,
• 24:27
Speaker 14: I think it appeals. You know, I started playing it
• 24:30
Speaker 14: not knowing what it was. And it's easy to play.
• 24:34
  Speaker 2: You know.
• 24:34
Speaker 14: It's if you play tennis and try and learn, if
• 24:37
Speaker 14: you play against somebody advanced, they just you can't return
• 24:40
  Speaker 14: a serve.
• 24:40
  Speaker 3: You can't get a.
• 24:41
Speaker 14: Serve in this This game is designed to make it
• 24:44
Speaker 14: easy to play so that you know it's not you're
• 24:46
Speaker 14: not getting the ball hit at you hard and slammed
• 24:48
Speaker 14: and you can keep the game going, which is why
• 24:50
Speaker 14: I think it's appeal appeals to a lot of people,
• 24:52
Speaker 14: whether you're old young. We have you know, eighteen year
• 24:55
Speaker 14: olds playing with eighty year olds and competing and and uh,
• 24:59
Speaker 14: it's just the nature of the game. So if you're
• 25:01
Speaker 14: thinking about playing picktball, I encourage you to do it.
• 25:02
  Speaker 14: It's it's it's fun, it's exercise, but it's not like
• 25:06
Speaker 14: running a marathon. I mean, it's pretty pretty laid back.
• 25:09
Speaker 14: Is it's sort of sort of.
• 25:11
  Speaker 3: A leisure sport.
• 25:11
Speaker 14: But you know, you get your blood pumping a little
• 25:13
Speaker 14: bit and breathe hard some and it's fun and it's
• 25:16
Speaker 14: the most important thing.
• 25:17
Speaker 5: Talk with Tom Payton again from the Peyton Law Firm,
• 25:19
Speaker 5: and we are in the middle of our wv RC
• 25:21
Speaker 5: Media Cares for Kids radio thon that you guys decided
• 25:24
Speaker 5: to be a part of this and what one of
• 25:27
Speaker 5: the great things I like about you and your dad
• 25:29
Speaker 5: and all the people that you have there at the
• 25:30
Speaker 5: Peyton Law Firm with your office in Nitro, is that
• 25:32
Speaker 5: you're constantly doing things for the community. Sometimes they're not
• 25:35
Speaker 5: always publicized, but that's not why you do it.
• 25:37
Speaker 14: That's right. We try and help the community out and
• 25:39
Speaker 14: we've kind of steered. You know, some of it is marketing,
• 25:43
Speaker 14: but I think you know, if you can do things
• 25:45
Speaker 14: on a personal level for people, that's frankly how we
• 25:48
  Speaker 14: You don't see a whole lot. I got a couple
• 25:49
Speaker 14: of billboards and we don't see any TV commercials from us.
• 25:52
Speaker 14: We do our radio show and we pay for that.
• 25:54
Speaker 14: It's advertising. A lot of people think it's the other
• 25:57
Speaker 14: way around, and we help people on that show. But
• 25:59
Speaker 14: people get to know us, and that's how we get
• 26:02
Speaker 14: most of our businesses referrals or people that have had
• 26:05
Speaker 14: us in the past or know us. And so when
• 26:07
Speaker 14: you contribute to a local sports team or in this
• 26:10
Speaker 14: case a local calls, you know, on a state wide
• 26:13
Speaker 14: level the Western Children's Hospital, it gives you that connection
• 26:16
Speaker 14: and we really like doing that and you feel the
• 26:19
Speaker 14: impact of it because you can see what it's doing
• 26:21
Speaker 14: in the community. And this one we've given for years
• 26:24
Speaker 14: through this radiothon. But you know, you might remember maybe
• 26:27
Speaker 14: three four years ago it was Saint Jude, which is
• 26:30
Speaker 14: great and then no better cause than that, but you
• 26:32
Speaker 14: couldn't track where it went necessarily they're based in Tennessee,
• 26:35
Speaker 14: and and so when when WVU built this facility for
• 26:41
Speaker 14: children here up in Morgantown, I just reinforced our already
• 26:48
Speaker 14: committed pledge to this, to this cause. And it's good,
• 26:53
Speaker 14: you know, you get I've got two kids, you know,
• 26:55
Speaker 14: my daughter Grace, she's twenty five and she's pretty much
• 26:57
Speaker 14: flooding the coop now. And I got a twenty one
• 26:59
Speaker 14: year old is finishing up college in Louisiana. But uh,
• 27:03
Speaker 14: you know, there's nothing worse if you have kids than
• 27:05
Speaker 14: having your kids really sick. You know, you just feel desperate.
• 27:08
Speaker 14: You'd rather be sick one hundred times ever before your
• 27:10
Speaker 14: kids would be sick. And not everybody can afford to
• 27:12
Speaker 14: fly across the country and get the best treatment in
• 27:15
Speaker 14: the world. And so now with this facility in WU
• 27:18
Speaker 14: and Morgantown, I think it gives some local folks the
• 27:21
Speaker 14: opportunity to get some state of the art treatment that
• 27:22
Speaker 14: they might not be able to get otherwise. And if
• 27:25
Speaker 14: we can just help a little bit with that, then
• 27:27
Speaker 14: then we're happy to do it. And we're going to
• 27:29
Speaker 14: get five hundred dollars. We'll try and get some more
• 27:31
Speaker 14: next year. But any little bit helps because it really
• 27:35
Speaker 14: adds up. It really adds up. So if anybody out
• 27:37
Speaker 14: there is listening and thinking about giving, I encourage you
• 27:39
  Speaker 14: to do.
• 27:40
Speaker 5: So here's what I don't want to put words anybody
• 27:42
Speaker 5: that don't want to get you in trouble, Tom, But
• 27:43
Speaker 5: here's what I think you should do. Because I know
• 27:45
Speaker 5: all these attorneys, I know that you get you, you
• 27:47
Speaker 5: have a working relationship. You should challenge all the other
• 27:50
Speaker 5: law firms in the area.
• 27:51
Speaker 14: Sure, we have done that before. And you know, if
• 27:56
Speaker 14: you I would ask them to look at their advertising budget. Yeah,
• 27:59
Speaker 14: look at their advertising budget and if most of them,
• 28:02
Speaker 14: if they pay you know, one month's advertising budget, maybe
• 28:06
Speaker 14: five percent of it, that would be a decent donation
• 28:10
Speaker 14: that would help this cause a lot.
• 28:11
Speaker 3: So the challenge has been thrown out with a little
• 28:13
  Speaker 3: help for me.
• 28:14
Speaker 14: I'm sure with that challenge they'll one up me real quick. Okay, well,
• 28:17
Speaker 14: there you go, but that's fine. We will accept that here. Now,
• 28:20
Speaker 14: if you want to hire a lawyer there, yes, yes,
• 28:23
Speaker 14: then I would ask you to consider us. And one
• 28:25
Speaker 14: of the reasons we like giving locals because we were
• 28:27
Speaker 14: born here, we grew up here, and we stay here,
• 28:29
Speaker 14: and so We like helping local folks and we do
• 28:32
Speaker 14: really good job. If we have trials, it's kind of
• 28:35
Speaker 14: like practice practice, then you go to the game and
• 28:37
Speaker 14: we perform well at the game. Now, sometimes you don't
• 28:40
Speaker 14: get to the game well most of the time because
• 28:42
Speaker 14: the other side folds before you get there. But if
• 28:44
Speaker 14: you've got a car wreck, or you're dealing with an
• 28:46
Speaker 14: insurance company, or friend or family has been hurt, I
• 28:49
Speaker 14: just asked you to consider us. We do a really
• 28:51
Speaker 14: good job, and we do it on a personal level.
• 28:53
Speaker 14: You do not become a number at our office, and
• 28:55
Speaker 14: you can contact us at Peyton Law Firm dot com.

Speaker 9: Yeah? Yeah, it's exciting, man. You've got a lot of
• 33:36
Speaker 9: activity hitre in the building and people calling and all
• 33:38
Speaker 9: that stuff, people in.
• 33:39
Speaker 3: And out and out.
• 33:41
Speaker 5: Well, here's the thing about and I think it's something
• 33:43
Speaker 5: that I want to fall up on some of the
• 33:45
Speaker 5: Tom said, there are a couple of moments ago.
• 33:46
Speaker 3: Greg, it's uh uh.
• 33:47
Speaker 5: You know, we for years had a relationship with Saint
• 33:50
Speaker 5: Jud's and Saint Judess is a wonderful organization, but sometimes
• 33:52
Speaker 5: when you deal with national organizations, you don't know where
• 33:54
Speaker 5: that money is actually going. And so we decided to
• 33:57
Speaker 5: bring it back home to West Virginia. WVRC Media is
• 34:00
Speaker 5: a one of the few local, uh one of the
• 34:03
Speaker 5: few media outlets in West Virginia that is from West Virginia.
• 34:06
Speaker 3: Our people are here, you know, all over the state.
• 34:10
Speaker 3: So that's why we like to get involved in this.
• 34:12
Speaker 5: So I got the TV on the studio here, Greg
• 34:14
Speaker 5: been watching with Beta Breath. I'm sure the DNC in Chicago, right,
• 34:18
Speaker 5: I have not watched any of it.
• 34:21
Speaker 3: Don't You sometimes want to know though, what the other
• 34:23
  Speaker 3: side's doing. I mean I've seen you don't watch a
• 34:25
  Speaker 3: lot of televisions.
• 34:26
  Speaker 9: I don't want. Yeah, I don't watch TV that much.
• 34:28
Speaker 9: Uh well, I don't like watch like news TV. I
• 34:31
Speaker 9: watched like you know, you know, like British Crime TV
• 34:34
Speaker 9: or something, you know what I mean, like something you.
• 34:36
Speaker 3: Would that's something you would watch.
• 34:38
Speaker 9: I mean, I just keep it. The TV for me
• 34:40
Speaker 9: is like the distraction thing when you're like doing stuff
• 34:43
Speaker 9: at the house. It's not like not a it's not
• 34:44
Speaker 9: like a planned activity anyway. Uh you know, I've seen
• 34:50
Speaker 9: a little bit of it. I mean some of the
• 34:51
Speaker 9: stuff seems pretty I think they're like purposefully not wanting
• 34:55
Speaker 9: people to watch though, right. I mean, I think for
• 34:57
Speaker 9: them at this point, it's like, hey, you know, they
• 35:01
Speaker 9: were any really really bad spot with Biden. They ousted him.
• 35:05
Speaker 9: They you know, this whole you know convention is to
• 35:09
Speaker 9: nominate somebody that didn't receive any primary votes with the
• 35:13
Speaker 9: help of super delegates and all that stuff, which I
• 35:16
Speaker 9: just think is so you know, for the party that's
• 35:18
Speaker 9: like save democracy. I mean, they couldn't be any less
• 35:21
Speaker 9: democratic than what they actually are. But you know, so
• 35:25
Speaker 9: I haven't like watched any of it live. I've seen
• 35:27
Speaker 9: some clips and some stuff like that. You know, they're
• 35:31
Speaker 9: just really really out of touch for West Virginia. I mean, look,
• 35:34
Speaker 9: I understand there's you know, some of the super blue
• 35:37
Speaker 9: big cities that that that's that's just who they represent now, right.
• 35:40
Speaker 9: I mean, this isn't you know, this whole thing isn't
• 35:43
Speaker 9: like kind of right versus left anymore. It's just sort
• 35:46
Speaker 9: of you know, the rural versus urban.
• 35:48
Speaker 5: Yeah, Gregor, I heard a comment yesterday, Honey Ti mayor
• 35:53
Speaker 5: Steve Williams, who's running for governor of course against Patrick Morris.
• 35:56
Speaker 5: He was on Hoppy yesterday and I didn't hear the
• 35:59
Speaker 5: exact leading question, but basically I did hear the response
• 36:02
Speaker 5: from from from mister Williams, Mayor Williams, and he basically said, look,
• 36:05
  Speaker 5: I'm not a national Democrat. I may have a D
• 36:08
Speaker 5: after my name, but I could not be any more
• 36:11
Speaker 5: different than the Democrats on the national level. If any
• 36:15
Speaker 5: Democrat has a chance of winning in a state like
• 36:17
Speaker 5: West Virginia, they have to say things like that.
• 36:20
Speaker 9: They'd have to not just say it, but they'd also
• 36:22
Speaker 9: have to believe it and do it and improve it.
• 36:26
Speaker 9: And it'd be really hard. I mean, look, you're not
• 36:28
Speaker 9: none of these statewide. You know, all of the statewide
• 36:31
Speaker 9: Republican candidates are going to win all of it.
• 36:33
Speaker 3: I think it's pretty fair man.
• 36:35
Speaker 9: And almost all of the Republican candidates are going to
• 36:38
Speaker 9: win all all the way up and down the ballot.
• 36:42
Speaker 9: And you have a few places here and there, you know,
• 36:46
Speaker 9: we were we had a meeting the other day kind
• 36:48
Speaker 9: of with some legislators and future, you know, potential future legislators.
• 36:51
Speaker 9: I mean, almost half of the contested House of Delegate
• 36:54
Speaker 9: races in the state are here in Kanan County, you know.
• 36:58
Speaker 9: So I think that you know, Charleston is still an
• 37:00
Speaker 9: area where you have some competitive races, Wheeling, Morgantown, you know, Huntington.
• 37:06
Speaker 9: But in the rest of the state, I mean, it's
• 37:08
Speaker 9: just whoever the Republican's nominate, it's gonna win. And that's
• 37:11
Speaker 9: almost the case everywhere.
• 37:13
Speaker 3: The reason I want to have you on today, I
• 37:14
Speaker 3: want to talk about this list. Your group.
• 37:16
Speaker 5: You're affiliated with the group. You're the executive director. I
• 37:18
Speaker 5: guess that's your title of Citizens Against Lawsuit Abuse, and
• 37:22
Speaker 5: you your organization every year puts out a list of
• 37:25
Speaker 5: what they call the Dirty dozen. Explained the definition of
• 37:29
Speaker 5: what the dirty doesn't is.
• 37:30
Speaker 9: We essentially you know, look, the the personal injury lawsuit
• 37:34
Speaker 9: industry is a big business in West Virginia. You know,
• 37:36
Speaker 9: you've got you've got you know, several dozen people that
• 37:41
Speaker 9: make a lot, a lot of money. I mean we're talking,
• 37:43
  Speaker 9: you know, look, and there's we don't I don't want
• 37:46
Speaker 9: to paint a big wide brush that's saying like oh,
• 37:49
Speaker 9: we hate all lawyers and we hate all lawsuits and
• 37:51
Speaker 9: all this stuff. It's not really where we're coming from.
• 37:53
Speaker 9: I mean for us, it's like, you know, it is
• 37:55
Speaker 9: a big business. Suing people in West Virginia is a
• 37:58
Speaker 9: big business. There's a certain type of lawsuits and things
• 38:02
Speaker 9: like that that we really focus on. We use this
• 38:04
Speaker 9: list to focus on like saying, hey, look here's where
• 38:07
Speaker 9: that that top group of the wealthiest of the personal
• 38:11
Speaker 9: injury lawsuit and industry members here in West Virginia. They
• 38:15
Speaker 9: go out and pick a hand. They go out and
• 38:17
Speaker 9: pick some races across the state that they really invest in.
• 38:20
  Speaker 2: Right.
• 38:20
Speaker 9: I mean, this isn't like all you know, Joe's buddies
• 38:23
Speaker 9: with Jim and he gave him money. I mean this
• 38:25
Speaker 9: is you know, some delegate in the you know, two
• 38:28
Speaker 9: hours away got twelve thousand dollars of contributions from Charles
• 38:33
Speaker 9: Liberal Democrat Charleston Lawyers. Well why is that right? I
• 38:36
Speaker 9: mean you look at it and say, why is that?
• 38:38
  Speaker 7: You know?
• 38:39
Speaker 9: And so we've been doing it for honestly, we've probably
• 38:41
Speaker 9: been doing it for almost twenty years. And this year's list,
• 38:45
Speaker 9: you know, without having to go through and name all
• 38:47
Speaker 9: the names and all that stuff. I mean, what you
• 38:49
Speaker 9: know this year's list, half of it really are just
• 38:52
Speaker 9: liberals that wouldn't even my I mean, nobody wants to
• 38:54
Speaker 9: be on a negative list, right, but I mean they
• 38:56
Speaker 9: would just say, yeah, those are my buddies. That's money,
• 38:57
Speaker 9: you know, I take money from those people.
• 38:59
Speaker 3: You But there are Republicans on the list though, But
• 39:02
Speaker 3: this year more safe.
• 39:03
Speaker 5: And the reason I say that I mentioned this GON
• 39:05
Speaker 5: show yesterday Greg's I don't want people to think, well,
• 39:07
Speaker 5: this is just Greg Thomas coming in and just trashing
• 39:09
Speaker 5: all all the Democrats, because you got Republicans on this
• 39:12
  Speaker 5: list as well.
• 39:13
Speaker 9: And that's and that's why this is probably newsworthy this
• 39:16
Speaker 9: time more so than most times. And I think of
• 39:20
Speaker 9: the Republicans on the list, I think they're really in
• 39:22
Speaker 9: two categories I think some of them really are you know,
• 39:25
Speaker 9: just trial lawyer Republicans that have you know, either our
• 39:29
Speaker 9: trial lawyers themselves or or you know, associated with, you know,
• 39:33
Speaker 9: industries that are closely tied to the personal injury lawsuit industry.
• 39:38
Speaker 9: There's also a couple that we used to support, that
• 39:42
Speaker 9: used to be with us that now what happens, right
• 39:46
Speaker 9: is people get in tough campaigns and they got to
• 39:50
Speaker 9: start using campaign contributions and they'll take them from anywhere.
• 39:52
Speaker 9: And we get that, right. There's just some people that
• 39:54
Speaker 9: that's the way it is. So there's a difference though
• 39:58
Speaker 9: between saying like, all right, I used to be pro
• 40:00
Speaker 9: legal reform and I took twenty thousand dollars in personal
• 40:03
Speaker 9: injury lawyers, and now I'm against legal reform. Right now,
• 40:06
Speaker 9: I'm with them after I've taken the money. And that's
• 40:09
Speaker 9: the case, you know, Patricia Rutgers under Patricia Rutgers pretty
• 40:13
  Speaker 9: much that person.
• 40:13
Speaker 5: That's the name that really stuck. And I do have
• 40:16
Speaker 5: the entire list, and let me ask you this, where
• 40:18
Speaker 5: can people see this.
• 40:19
Speaker 9: Listen on our website wvkl A dot org.
• 40:22
Speaker 5: Okay, but the name that really stuck out to me
• 40:24
Speaker 5: in this list and you have them ranked one to twelve,
• 40:27
Speaker 5: with one being the person that took the most money
• 40:30
Speaker 5: from Laarge. But but Patricia Rucker, I mean, nobody would
• 40:34
Speaker 5: ever ever think that Patricia Rutger state a Senate District sixteen.
• 40:40
  Speaker 9: Is that right?
• 40:40
  Speaker 15: Yeah?
• 40:40
Speaker 9: Out in the far eastern Paia, nobody And.
• 40:42
Speaker 5: If you know anything about Patricia Rucker, with all due respect,
• 40:45
Speaker 5: nobody would ever paint her as.
• 40:46
Speaker 3: Being far left, Greg. I mean, if anything, she is
• 40:49
Speaker 3: far far far right.
• 40:51
Speaker 9: Well and until not on legal reform, and it's something
• 40:55
Speaker 9: that you know, she used to support tort reform and
• 40:58
Speaker 9: then you know she gotten some tough and you know,
• 41:01
Speaker 9: you need the campaign contributions, and she has changed her
• 41:05
Speaker 9: you know, she has kind of changed her tune on
• 41:07
Speaker 9: that front. You know a lot of the other ones
• 41:10
Speaker 9: that you know a lot of the other Republicans that
• 41:11
Speaker 9: have taken it haven't taken as much. And they're you know,
• 41:14
Speaker 9: probably people that you know, I would guess it's people
• 41:17
Speaker 9: that the personal injury lossuit industry looked at it and said, hey,
• 41:19
  Speaker 9: here's somebody that's on the Judiciary Committee. They're in a
• 41:22
Speaker 9: tough campaign, they're not raising much money. Let's go befriend
• 41:25
Speaker 9: this person, right, you know what I mean, like, how
• 41:27
Speaker 9: do we become friends with this person? Let's send him
• 41:28
Speaker 9: a bunch of money and we'll become friends with them. So,
• 41:31
Speaker 9: you know, for us, look, it's not like hey, we're
• 41:32
Speaker 9: going to take somebody and throw them under the bus
• 41:35
Speaker 9: as much as just like, hey, we're going to highlight
• 41:37
Speaker 9: the fact that you've taken money from one special interest
• 41:39
Speaker 9: group and see if it changes the way you vote.
• 41:42
Speaker 5: Now, another one of those Republicans from this area is
• 41:45
Speaker 5: a delegate Kathy has crouded.
• 41:46
Speaker 9: I think she's in that ladder group that I just said.
• 41:49
Speaker 9: I think she's just somebody that had not had a
• 41:51
Speaker 9: real competitive election had, you know, because because Kathy has
• 41:54
Speaker 9: been somebody that's been a strong advocate for legal reforms.
• 41:57
Speaker 9: I mean, I think she's probably somewhere in that ladder
• 41:59
Speaker 9: group that will like, Okay, you know she had she
• 42:01
Speaker 9: had a really contested competitive primary out there, you know,
• 42:04
Speaker 9: and she worked hard on it. So look, I think
• 42:06
Speaker 9: that's somebody that you know, we've supported. You know, I
• 42:10
Speaker 9: think Delegate Crouse has been a good vote and a
• 42:13
Speaker 9: good conservative you know vote in the legislature. You know,
• 42:17
Speaker 9: we don't you know, we don't pick and choose like
• 42:19
Speaker 9: who's on there? Right, we go through and say, okay,
• 42:21
Speaker 9: who took the money?
• 42:22
Speaker 5: It's based on on on and again. If you go
• 42:24
Speaker 5: to the website, you can see the dollar amounts.
• 42:27
Speaker 3: That's how you rank them.
• 42:28
Speaker 5: Number one, by the way, let me just throw this
• 42:29
Speaker 5: out here, the number one with State Senator Joey Garcia
• 42:33
Speaker 5: at a district thirteen, who took twenty three seven hundred dollars.
• 42:36
Speaker 9: Yeah, and you look, and that's to be expected from
• 42:39
  Speaker 9: you know, and I don't. I don't know if Joe
• 42:41
Speaker 9: if Delegate Garcia calls, you know, identifies himself as a
• 42:45
Speaker 9: liberal or not. I mean, I would identify him as liberal.
• 42:48
Speaker 9: But he also is a trial lawyer, right, you know.
• 42:50
Speaker 9: I mean, so these are going to be people that
• 42:52
Speaker 9: he knows and people he's friends with. I would guess
• 42:56
Speaker 9: if I were a betting person, which I'm actually not,
• 42:59
Speaker 9: if I were a betting person, I would bet the
• 43:02
Speaker 9: Senator Garcia that Joey Garcia is a senator come January.
• 43:07
Speaker 9: You know, he's in a he's in one of the
• 43:08
Speaker 9: few districts that still the Democrats can win in. You know,
• 43:13
Speaker 9: he's a likable guy, he works hard, you know, I
• 43:16
Speaker 9: think he's going to be a tough one for the
• 43:18
Speaker 9: Republicans to beat. And you know, and and so look,
• 43:23
Speaker 9: some of these folks are you know, they're just that
• 43:25
Speaker 9: they're on the other side, and that's fine. Uh, you know,
• 43:28
Speaker 9: we just highlight the fact that that they are on
• 43:30
Speaker 9: that other side. And then you know, for some of
• 43:32
Speaker 9: these folks, it's just sort of like, hey, we're watching, right, like,
• 43:35
Speaker 9: we see what's going on. We're watching. We want to
• 43:36
Speaker 9: see what happens here.
• 43:38
Speaker 3: And as you said, Greg, and we'll go to break.
• 43:40
Speaker 5: I think that a lot of these folks on this
• 43:42
Speaker 5: list you mentioned to Joey Garcia, I see that. To
• 43:44
Speaker 5: Sean flu Hardy, I mean, you wouldn't expect him.
• 43:48
Speaker 9: To you know, it only be surprising. It'd only be
• 43:51
Speaker 9: surprising if he weren't on them.
• 43:52
Speaker 5: And Deli and and another local one here, Deli get
• 43:54
Speaker 5: Kaylee Young was another one again.
• 43:57
Speaker 3: She is she is who she is, and she's probably
• 43:59
Speaker 3: gonna tell you that, you know, I respect for her
• 44:01
  Speaker 3: for that.
• 44:01
Speaker 9: She runs as a liberal Democrat and you know she's
• 44:03
Speaker 9: been elected as a little Democrat. Now she's got a
• 44:05
Speaker 9: tough race this time. I mean, Andrey Anderson's a good candidate,
• 44:09
  Speaker 9: So I think that's that's that's one of those handful
• 44:12
Speaker 9: of competitive delegate races is going to be that race
• 44:14
Speaker 9: with them and they're, you know, both good younger candidates
• 44:17
Speaker 9: are working hard, and I think it's going to be
• 44:19
Speaker 9: a race to watch. The complete list is available ware

Speaker 9: And if we had a pack that was active in
• 47:23
Speaker 9: you know, political campaigns directly, we would report that information
• 47:26
Speaker 9: is required by law. But we're you know, it's a
• 47:29
Speaker 9: you know, an issue advocate organization that protects the support
• 47:32
Speaker 9: of our I mean, look, you know, our donors are
• 47:34
Speaker 9: our donors are job creators and healthcare providers. I mean,
• 47:37
Speaker 9: that's who it is.
• 47:38
Speaker 3: But you are not required by by law.
• 47:41
Speaker 9: You know, we don't have a pack yet. We don't
• 47:42
Speaker 9: go we did, we had a pack years ago and
• 47:47
Speaker 9: kind of got involved in some races and stuff. But anymore,
• 47:50
Speaker 9: I mean, we just sort of highlight things like this
• 47:52
Speaker 9: and go out and you know, we you know, we
• 47:54
Speaker 9: had we had our you know, local business meeting the
• 47:56
Speaker 9: other day here, and we had one in Charleston the
• 47:57
Speaker 9: other day. We had one in Barbersville, where you know,
• 48:00
Speaker 9: we invite in local job creators, health care providers, local
• 48:03
Speaker 9: elected officials, you know, talk about these issues you know. So,
• 48:08
  Speaker 9: I mean it's a you know, that's what we tend
• 48:11
Speaker 9: to focus on, is just highlight the issue Texas.
• 48:14
Speaker 3: How about jb Acres?
• 48:15
Speaker 5: Why is he immune from the personal injury lawyer attack
• 48:17
Speaker 5: when he obviously is one.
• 48:19
Speaker 3: Is it because he gives his greedy money to Republicans?
• 48:22
  Speaker 9: I don't know.
• 48:23
Speaker 3: I don't know what the arms that jb Acres has,
• 48:25
Speaker 3: whether I want to call it greedy to his face
• 48:27
Speaker 3: or not. But go ahead.
• 48:29
Speaker 9: Look, you know, Delegate Acres is somebody that we work
• 48:33
Speaker 9: with on issues. You know, obviously he is a lawyer.
• 48:37
Speaker 9: You know, it's sort of Look, it's it's like we
• 48:39
Speaker 9: say that we're not against every single lawyer. I mean,
• 48:42
Speaker 9: it's you know, uh, you know, we joke all you know. Look,
• 48:45
Speaker 9: sometimes people are injured through no fault of their own
• 48:47
Speaker 9: and they need representation. I mean, nobody's going to come
• 48:49
Speaker 9: in and say, hey, we shouldn't. You know, we're against
• 48:51
Speaker 9: lawsuits entirely. And this is one of the things that
• 48:54
Speaker 9: we highlight all the time. Right when we started really
• 48:56
Speaker 9: passing tort re form ten years ago, the other side
• 48:59
Speaker 9: came in and we're like, oh my godsh if we
• 49:00
Speaker 9: pass this stuff, there'll be no lawsuits. There's plenty of lawsuits,
• 49:03
Speaker 9: right like, you know, there may not be the big
• 49:06
Speaker 9: two hundred and fift you know, the big nuclear verdicts
• 49:09
Speaker 9: that we used to have in West Virginia. We don't
• 49:10
Speaker 9: have very many of anymore. And you know, so that's
• 49:14
Speaker 9: really the you know, we don't want to act like
• 49:17
Speaker 9: we're just against all lawyers. There's just some people that
• 49:20
Speaker 9: are worse offenders than others.
• 49:21
Speaker 5: Texas Republicans are excellent at marketing. How else do you
• 49:24
Speaker 5: get rural folks to believe wealthy urbanites and suburbanites had
• 49:27
Speaker 5: their best interest in mind. Rural folks are ignorant if
• 49:30
Speaker 5: they think the corporate Republican Party cares for them any
• 49:33
Speaker 5: more than Democrats do.
• 49:35
Speaker 9: You know, Look, I don't think that the Republican Party
• 49:38
Speaker 9: is just a big corporate party. And obviously there's social
• 49:41
Speaker 9: conservative issues and other things, but and not that Citizens
• 49:45
Speaker 9: against Lawsuit Use is a political is aligned with any
• 49:48
Speaker 9: political party, of course, because it isn't. But look, I
• 49:52
Speaker 9: think this is you know, we know that they run
• 49:56
Speaker 9: away verdicts and all of these things hurt in you know,
• 50:00
Speaker 9: job creators, they hurt healthcare, they hurt access to affordable
• 50:03
Speaker 9: health care. Uh, you know, they cause higher prices for
• 50:06
Speaker 9: goods and services and insurance and all that stuff, and
• 50:09
Speaker 9: that that's the stuff that we.
• 50:10
Speaker 5: High like tex says Republicans putting federal Republicans on a
• 50:13
Speaker 5: bad list. Admit it that it's something that Democrats would
• 50:16
Speaker 5: never do. They circle the wagons around each other.
• 50:19
Speaker 9: There's there's a lot of truth in that, that's for sure.
• 50:21
Speaker 5: Dex says, what about Patrick Morrissey, Sue's businesses causes people
• 50:25
Speaker 5: to lose jobs, increases pharmacy prices on law abiding citizens
• 50:29
  Speaker 5: to support addicts.
• 50:30
Speaker 9: Well, our list, you know, it's hard for us to
• 50:32
Speaker 9: be able to get through that at Morse he he
• 50:36
Speaker 9: he doesn't take a lot of money from personal injury lawyers.
• 50:38
Speaker 9: I mean, we've kind of looked at it before.
• 50:39
Speaker 3: And you're not the biggest Patrick Morrissey fan in the world.
• 50:42
Speaker 9: I know, you know, I haven't been in the past.
• 50:44
  Speaker 9: I mean, I look, I am giving you know, I'm
• 50:48
Speaker 9: supporting them for governor. I think that they're I think
• 50:51
Speaker 9: that there are I think that there are a lot
• 50:53
Speaker 9: of opportunities for him to do positive things as governor
• 50:58
Speaker 9: and I and I'm really hopeful that he will do
• 50:59
Speaker 9: those things, and so we'll see. But look, I'm supporting
• 51:03
Speaker 9: for governor and I think, you know, I'm excited about
• 51:06
Speaker 9: some of the things that he's talking about doing as governor.
• 51:08
Speaker 5: All Right, I mean you've closed with this speaking of governor,
• 51:11
Speaker 5: that office that the governor. Governor Justice has another media
• 51:14
Speaker 5: briefing today for those that.
• 51:15
Speaker 3: Are allowed to participate at some point, and Brad mclhaney
• 51:18
Speaker 3: cannot participate in some of those more legal issues.
• 51:21
Speaker 5: Brad's got more stuff to talk about on Hoppy next hour.
• 51:24
Speaker 5: Does it make any bit of difference.
• 51:26
Speaker 9: No, he's still going to win. Yeah, I mean it's
• 51:28
Speaker 9: not it's not an ideal situation he's in obviously, and
• 51:32
Speaker 9: you know, and I hope he's able to you know,
• 51:33
