- 0:00Speaker 1: And I remember just sitting in my cubicle and thinking like I thought that I had my whole life figured out and I thought that I knew exactly what I wanted to do.
- 0:08Speaker 1: And I am pretty sure that I know nothing at this point.
- 0:11Speaker 1: I don't even know if I see myself working a regular job period, but I definitely don't see myself in my boss's position, who's sitting across from me and he's 50 something and miserable and a drunk and whatever, and this is like his life, like oh, that's the trajectory, like wow, okay, like I don't really want that.
- 0:31Speaker 1: And so there was a lot of upheaval and that led me to decline my corporate job offers out of school and ultimately decide that I was going to move back to Spain and I was going to date this guy and I was going to choose my heart and my gut and love and adventure and take a chance on myself and the opportunity that I had, which was being young and having not much to lose, and just deciding like, if I don't do it now, I'm never going to do it and I trust myself to figure it out, so let's fucking go never going to do it and I trust myself to figure it out.
- 1:09Speaker 2: So let's fucking go.

- 1:55Speaker 3: I am so excited for this one.
- 1:56Speaker 3: Today I am joined by a very special guest who is my business mentor.
- 2:01Speaker 3: You guys might know her as Samantha Daly on Instagram and the host of Makeshift Happen.
- 2:08Speaker 3: So a very honorable episode to be sitting down and doing for you guys today and, yeah, so grateful that Sam is exchanging her time.
- 2:16Speaker 3: So welcome to the show.
- 2:17Speaker 1: Yay, thank you so much for having me.
- 2:19Speaker 1: I know it's so good to see you again and just connect and it's been like so much change has happened for both you and I and our businesses since the last time we really worked together.
- 2:29Speaker 1: And, yeah, I'm really, really excited to be here.
- 2:32Speaker 3: Literally.
- 2:32Speaker 3: So.
- 2:32Speaker 3: I worked with Sam when I was still working at the law firm and we I was in her mastermind, her business mastermind when I resigned, I think.
- 2:40Speaker 3: I think I was still in there when I was doing that.
- 2:42Speaker 3: So you always will have a special place in my heart because you were the coach.
- 2:46Speaker 3: That's like.
- 2:47Speaker 3: You can do it Like come on, you've got this and you know like, continue to just have your part of my world on Instagram.
- 2:55Speaker 3: You're always the biggest supporter, commenting on posts and things like that, and I cannot wait for us to link up again, which I know will happen very, very soon.
- 3:03Speaker 3: We were just saying at the start we've both been sick, so ignore the husky voice here today and the snotty noses in the mics.
- 3:13Speaker 3: It adds it's sultry, they're going to love it, literally.
- 3:15Speaker 3: Well, let's just kick off with a bit of an intro.
- 3:17Speaker 3: I mean your bio is all detailed below, but it's best heard from you If you could start with like a personal intro and then we can chat about your business, but just so everyone can get to know who you are.
- 3:28Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah.
- 3:29Speaker 1: So a lot of the work that I do nowadays is in business mentorship, but my coaching journey really started in life and mindset coaching.
- 3:37Speaker 1: So when I was 21, I went through a sort of personal spiritual awakening of sorts and I decided that I was no longer certain that I wanted to work in corporate.
- 3:53Speaker 1: I was on this path to work in PR.
- 3:55Speaker 1: I was getting my degree in strategic communication and gearing up to work in a PR agency or in corporate.
- 4:01Speaker 1: And I studied abroad, in Spain, and I met this guy and I fell in love and I traveled to like 10 countries in three months and it was just this whirlwind of transformation for me, of seeing the way that other people live and different lifestyles and different values.
- 4:18Speaker 1: And I went back to school to finish my last year at university and I ended up staying long distance with this guy that I had met.
- 4:25Speaker 1: And then I did a summer internship at a corporate company in Chicago and I remember just sitting in my cubicle and thinking.
- 4:33Speaker 1: I thought that I had my whole life figured out and I thought that I knew exactly what I wanted to do.
- 4:38Speaker 1: And I am pretty sure that I know nothing at this point.
- 4:42Speaker 1: I don't even know if I see myself working a regular job period, but like I definitely don't see myself in my boss's position, who's sitting across from me and he's, you know, 50 something and miserable and a drunk and whatever, and this is like his life, like oh, that's the trajectory, like wow, okay, like I don't really want that.
- 5:03Speaker 1: And so there was a lot of upheaval and that led me to decline my corporate job offers out of school and ultimately decide that I was going to move back to Spain and I was going to date this guy and I was going to choose my heart and my gut and love and adventure and take a chance on myself and the opportunity that I had, which was being young and having not much to lose, and just deciding like, if I don't do it now, I'm never going to do it and I trust myself to figure it out, so let's fucking go.
- 5:37Speaker 1: So I moved back to Spain and I thought I was going to stay.
- 5:39Speaker 1: For a year I started teaching English in the schools.
- 5:41Speaker 1: I was making horrible money.
- 5:43Speaker 1: It was not a flex to be like.
- 5:48Speaker 1: I mean, everybody thought it was a flex because it was like you're moving to Spain, but the people that knew what was happening.
- 5:53Speaker 1: I think they were more excited about their own 80K jobs that they were going to be starting out in corporate and I was over there making $1,000 a month and spending half of it on rent and, yeah, just like barely making ends meet and scraping by.
- 6:08Speaker 1: But in my mind I was just like I can always go back and I can always start over.
- 6:12Speaker 1: And so moving to Spain really changed my life in so many ways, not only because I ended up staying in that relationship and we're still together today, but also because I went on a whole journey of self-discovery and I went into my own personal development.
- 6:27Speaker 1: I made a return to yoga, I deepened in spirituality, I started meditating, I learned affirmations for the first time.
- 6:35Speaker 1: I really changed my mindset.
- 6:37Speaker 1: I fell back in love with myself when I had previously really been struggling with body image, and my whole life just kind of started to transform around me.
- 6:44Speaker 1: I started getting better opportunities.
- 6:46Speaker 1: I became a resident in Spain, I was able to get a better job and all these things started shifting.
- 6:51Speaker 1: And yeah, obviously this wasn't like an overnight thing, but eventually, through sharing a lot of my own journey on social media and blogging about it, it started to kind of turn into something that people wanted to learn from me, and so ultimately that was where my first you know initial coaching business was born was from the spiritual education and the wellness and the mindset and subconscious reprogramming side of things, and I built a multi six figure business doing that and then eventually those people wanted to learn how I was running my business and how I was growing my brand.
- 7:23Speaker 1: And that's where, you know, abundant and Ambitious came in, how I was growing my brand and that's where Abundant and Ambitious came in and you joined that mastermind and then things just really took off from there and my brand has really grown and evolved since then.
- 7:35Speaker 1: So that's kind of the shortened version of how I got started in this space and what I really do now is I help my clients a lot with marketing and messaging and brand and building and scaling their businesses.
- 7:49Speaker 3: Yes, I love that, which we're going to pick apart in a second because I know you have so much advice for women who are there.
- 7:55Speaker 3: But I'd love for us to go back.
- 7:57Speaker 3: That journey takes courage and it takes a lot of trust that, while the path that you wanted was so unpredictable and I'm not sure what your upbringing was like, but very likely not shown to you, you know like we live in a society where it's like you go to school, you go to uni and, as you mentioned, you get that corporate job.
- 8:16Speaker 3: So to turn around and say, hey, no, I actually want something different and then to do it anyway takes courage, it takes boldness and what your story has really highlighted is 99% of the time when you trust that something will work out, all of these doors open up and you know like you can obviously sit here today and look back and it's worked out Like.
- 8:37Speaker 3: I'm sure you've had some, you know, hiccups along the way, but mostly it's worked out for you but it's because you trusted that it was going to.
- 8:44Speaker 3: So I'd love for you just to like take us back there and just talk a little bit about because I'm sure some fear came up.
- 8:49Speaker 3: I'm sure you were very much at that fork in the road of like it's the safer option to stay in the US and just take that corporate job.
- 8:56Speaker 3: I guess how did you navigate, choosing trust over fear?
- 9:01Speaker 3: In just over one year, I went from being an unfulfilled lawyer craving more freedom to the owner of a six figure business that now allows me to completely control my time, travel whenever I want and decide how much I get paid.
- 9:18Speaker 3: I literally manifested that freedom I used to dream about, which is a very, very high value of mine.
- 9:24Speaker 3: And you may be thinking this took a lot of hard work, and while it did, I actually don't put my success down to just that.
- 9:32Speaker 3: Knowing how to reprogram my subconscious mind and use my subconscious mind was the key to it all, and when I experienced my first quantum leap, I knew more.
- 9:44Speaker 3: Women had to know how to do it so that they could also live the life of their dreams.
- 9:48Speaker 3: So I created a blueprint which you can actually download for free right now when you get on the wait list for the Academy, which is a four-month transformational program to get you the life that you want and become the woman you want to be, the woman who knows what she wants and she gets it.
- 10:08Speaker 3: So if you head to the show notes below, you'll see the link to download that ebook for free.
- 10:14Speaker 3: I'm so excited for you to have your own success story and really honestly get the life that you're dreaming about, because if I can do it, so can you.
- 10:26Speaker 1: Yeah, I think for me it was really like trusting my gut and I just felt so strongly that the regret of not doing it was going to be worse than anything that could happen for me, taking this risk and trying to see what might happen.
- 10:44Speaker 1: And I think now we obviously have a lot more language because we've been in the personal development space for a long time about hearing your intuition and trusting your gut and even sacral authority, which is part of my human design, and I know all of these things about myself now and it helps kind of explain my functioning back then.
- 11:02Speaker 1: But at that time I didn't have any of that languaging, I didn't know what was happening.
- 11:07Speaker 1: I just knew in my heart and in my gut this is what I want to do, and I feel more scared about the idea of regretting this for the rest of my life than I do about taking a shot and potentially realizing this isn't what I want or I don't like this, or maybe you know me and the guy break up, or I decide that I don't want to live in Spain anymore and I have to come back and look for a job, like, okay, you know, I think so often we create this feeling in our minds that it's like door A and door B.
- 11:42Speaker 1: I talk about this a lot and it feels like one of them is the key to your success and the other door is like a gun waiting for you or something.
- 11:50Speaker 1: Yeah, doom and gloom, you're screwed forever, never going to be able to get back up.
- 11:56Speaker 1: That's literally how it feels in our bodies, and I think there's power in recognizing that.
- 12:01Speaker 1: No option is ever that deep of a contrast and likely.
- 12:07Speaker 1: Behind both doors there's a potential reward and there's also a potential risk, and so it's just deciding who you actually want to be.
- 12:14Speaker 1: That's really it.
- 12:15Speaker 1: It's not like what is going to be the best outcome and what's going to get me to the place where I want to go.
- 12:20Speaker 1: But really, who do I want to be in this moment?
- 12:22Speaker 1: Who do I want to be as I'm making this decision?
- 12:25Speaker 1: What kind of person do I want to show up as?
- 12:27Speaker 1: Because, no matter what happens on the other side of that door, if you have self-trust, that means that you believe that you'll be able to figure it out.
- 12:35Speaker 1: It doesn't mean that you trust that everything's going to be perfect and that, oh, I'm going to pick the right door.
- 12:40Speaker 1: And it means that because I believe so hard that it's going to be right for me, that everything will be perfect and nothing bad will happen.
- 12:46Speaker 1: That's not self-trust.
- 12:47Speaker 1: Self-trust is actually like I'm picking this door in full conscious awareness that bad things could happen and things could unfold unexpectedly and they may not go in my favor and I may not like this, and I may decide that this isn't the path for me ultimately.
- 13:00Speaker 1: And I can handle that and I can figure it out and I'm strong enough, smart enough, resourceful enough to say, okay, cool.
- 13:09Speaker 1: Now that I've realized that I hate this or this sucks or this has gone very badly, what am I going to do now?
- 13:14Speaker 1: What is the next step?
- 13:16Speaker 1: And I obviously didn't know really like why I had that, but I think a lot of it was just that strong sense of sacral gut, knowing that I would be okay as long as I followed my heart.
- 13:32Speaker 1: Once I abandoned myself and I do something for other people instead of for me.
- 13:37Speaker 1: That's probably going to be the scenario in which I'm less okay, because there's going to be resentment towards other people that made me okay, because there's going to be resentment towards other people that made me I'm going to feel my perception is going to be that.
- 13:49Speaker 1: You made me abandon this dream, you made me not go and see what would happen to that relationship or to that adventure.
- 13:55Speaker 1: Yeah, and I think that would be worse.
- 13:58Speaker 3: I love that you said like just trusting yourself, trusting that you will figure it out.
- 14:02Speaker 3: Like, as you said, it's not about trusting that that door is the right one or that path is it.
- 14:07Speaker 3: It's just trusting yourself and you will figure it out.
- 14:09Speaker 3: And like when you look back in all of the like, scary moments and the risks that you've taken, as we've mentioned, usually, if it's aligned with you and it sets your soul on fire and it makes you feel good, it's going to likely work out for you.
- 14:24Speaker 3: And I think that's what we kind of need to realize.
- 14:27Speaker 3: Life is supposed to be easier and more fun and aligned with what we really want, and when we're making decisions from our heart and from joy, the outcome tends to be joyous and abundant and somewhat the right path.
- 14:44Speaker 1: Yeah, I was just in Egypt.
- 14:46Speaker 1: Actually, I went on this spiritual pilgrimage and it was this 11-day long thing that was just.
- 14:52Speaker 1: That was a whole other spiritual awakening.
- 14:54Speaker 1: But we went to see this medicine man and he was kind of talking about this phenomenon of like.
- 14:58Speaker 1: We talk a lot about living in alignment and I think a lot of people that feels like a, that feels like an optional, fluffy, hopeful idea for them, that they would love to feel in alignment in all these areas, areas of their life at some point.
- 15:11Speaker 1: But what the medicine man was sharing with us was like you know the consequences of not living in alignment, of not honoring your truth, of not being who you were brought here to be, of not expressing yourself in the way that you desire, of not following the desires on your heart.
- 15:27Speaker 1: The consequence of that is first suffering and struggle, because everything is going to feel hard and that is only going to intensify and grow over time and grow over time and then, beyond that, it becomes sickness, physical illness, when you continue to live out of alignment, when you continue to abandon yourself, when you continue to know that something is not right for you but you stay, or to know that something is a calling for you, but you ignore it and you don't step into it.
- 15:57Speaker 1: The suffering eventually turns into sickness and illness and we become unwell.
- 16:02Speaker 1: And then it snowballs from there and we become masochists and we are now deriving some sort of enjoyment out of our own suffering or being the underdog in some cases, or being the person that's always struggling, or being the person that always has to work extra, extra hard for things.
- 16:20Speaker 1: We start to really identify with that and it becomes a weird kind of enjoyment, right Secondary gain, as we get validation from people doting on us for that or helping us or wanting to feel sorry for us for that.
- 16:35Speaker 1: And so it's this whole.
- 16:37Speaker 1: It really does spiral into this whole negative outcome, and we see that happening for people all the time.
- 16:43Speaker 1: You know relationships that they're unable to leave, jobs that they're unable to escape, purposes that they know are on their heart but they're unwilling to follow.
- 16:50Speaker 1: And it's not.
- 16:52Speaker 1: It's not just about like, oh, you could be happier or make more money.
- 16:56Speaker 1: It's about what's, what's the actual consequence of you not doing the thing that you were brought here on earth to do, Because, even if it seems silly, the gifts and talents that you have and the expertise or the eye for something that you have.
- 17:11Speaker 1: You have that for a reason and you're here to live in joy, so that you can be a light on earth and you can lift other people up, not drag people down, because you're trying to figure out how to get healthy or how to fix yourself or fix your life or get out of toxic relationship cycles.
- 17:29Speaker 1: That's not how we were meant to live.
- 17:32Speaker 3: I'd love for you to talk about in the moment of being like, okay, I want that more, whatever that looks like for me more, and recognizing that, again, it's sometimes just to stay on that path that has been molded for us through childhood generations before us.
- 17:47Speaker 3: Was it a matter of surrounding yourself with people who could be that beacon of light for you?
- 17:51Speaker 3: Was it a matter of tuning into some source of information for you to really craft that belief of like another life can exist?
- 18:00Speaker 3: You know because, like you're in the online space now and I know you've been in the online space for some time now, so back then it was probably even more prevalent, in that it was a very different path, you know what I mean and to believe in a vision that was not shown to you growing up, to believe in a life where you can have ease and overflow and freedom and work for yourself.
- 18:21Speaker 3: When that was not demonstrated for you, what did you do to kind of tap into that belief and really, yeah, get that vision so concrete enough for you to go.
- 18:30Speaker 3: I'm going to take a chance here.
- 18:32Speaker 1: Yeah, that really, for me, truly comes down to having expanders and finding people.
- 18:39Speaker 1: That could be an example.
- 18:41Speaker 1: I didn't know that these things were possible.
- 18:43Speaker 1: We don't know what we don't know, and that's a fascinating thing to think about even now.
- 18:48Speaker 1: If you're someone who's listening to this podcast, I'm sure you're into personal development and you're well into this world at this point.
- 18:55Speaker 1: So sometimes I even think about this at this stage of all that I know is possible and all of the things that I've seen that I know that I could do and create at some point.
- 19:05Speaker 1: There is still more beyond that that I don't know because I haven't seen it yet.
- 19:10Speaker 1: Like there's so much available, but we first really truly do have to see it to even plant the seed or have the idea.
- 19:18Speaker 1: There's like a conception moment that happens when you see someone that has something that you didn't even know could exist, and then that is where the magic starts to happen after that, if you're willing to follow that breadcrumb and continue to get curious and go down that road.
- 19:33Speaker 1: And so, for me, I remember seeing one of my coaches that I've worked with for years now, but she was one of the first people I ever saw on Instagram making $100,000 months consistently, and I was just so enthralled by her and intrigued and I could not could not believe that that was real.
- 19:54Speaker 1: I mean, I believed that it was real.
- 19:56Speaker 1: I wasn't one of those people that was like you must be lying, but I was like, whoa, holy shit.
- 20:01Speaker 1: That was a huge expansion moment for me.
- 20:01Speaker 1: I was like you must be lying, but I was like whoa, holy shit.
- 20:02Speaker 1: That was a huge expansion moment for me.
- 20:02Speaker 1: I was like I didn't even know that this could be possible.
- 20:06Speaker 1: This industry has so much potential.
- 20:08Speaker 1: The coaching industry it's grown so much.
- 20:11Speaker 1: It's like a multi-billion dollar industry.
- 20:13Speaker 1: At this point there's people making million dollar months.
- 20:16Speaker 1: It just keeps getting bigger and growing and we keep blowing the top off of our expectations of what we see as being possible.
- 20:23Speaker 1: But it really does require seeing to believe.
- 20:27Speaker 1: And so I saw her doing that and it made me really excited.
- 20:31Speaker 1: It made me really interested and it lit a fire under me to go okay, well, maybe I can't do that right now, but like I can start working towards it and if that's possible, if that's what's available like, let me at least try to get close to that, because even you know, a 10th of that would be like absolutely incredible and I really wanted to work with her and she was like way out of my price range at the time.
- 20:54Speaker 1: But actually I put my head down and I worked really hard on my business and within a year and a half I hired her and she's been one of my closest mentors and dearest friends in this space and has guided me through so much.
- 21:05Speaker 1: And, yeah, she was with me when I hit my first 100K a month.
- 21:09Speaker 1: So it really does come down to seeing what's possible for other people and then getting a seat at the table and being like, instead of being a hater, and instead of being like, oh, like, that you must be faking or that's not possible or easy for you to say.
- 21:22Speaker 1: Being like teach me, I want to learn from you.
- 21:25Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 21:27Speaker 3: Be around expanders and it is a game changer, you know, like getting to rub shoulders with people who are doing things that, yeah, opened your eyes up to what is actually available, is the most profound thing you can do in your life in any area, right, constantly expanding yourself and getting yourself in rooms where people are beyond where you are.
- 21:48Speaker 3: So you're continually growing.
- 21:49Speaker 3: I'd love for you to touch on and this is completely putting you on the spot If you could put your success down to three things that you've done.
- 21:57Speaker 3: What would that be If there is three things that you've done throughout your entire journey that you've done?
- 22:01Speaker 3: What would that be If there is three things that you've done throughout your entire journey that you can kind of say, yeah, you know, like that's really helped me get to where I am today.
- 22:07Speaker 3: Just three, okay, I know, when I was writing these questions, I was like what's my number here?
- 22:14Speaker 3: What number would I like to pick?
- 22:15Speaker 1: You're like 10, go Okay Three, let's.
- 22:18Speaker 1: You're like 10, go Okay three, let's just go with whatever comes to my mind first.
- 22:27Speaker 1: I'm getting personal brand popping into my head over and over again.
- 22:31Speaker 1: So for me personally I know that this isn't everybody's route but for me personally that's obviously been my bread and butter.
- 22:39Speaker 1: It's a huge part of how I grow business.
- 22:40Speaker 1: It's a huge part of how I teach others to grow business Personal brand has just been so key in bringing people deeper into the fold of who I am and my values and weaving in storytelling and really allowing people to see these different facets and sides of who I am and my life and my values and all of that.
- 23:03Speaker 1: I think it's what really builds a lot of like know and trust with my audience, to the point where they want to work with me.
- 23:10Speaker 1: So I would say personal brand podcasting.
- 23:15Speaker 1: I have to say podcasting for so many reasons.
- 23:17Speaker 1: One, because I was featured on a pretty big podcast in Australia really early on in my journey and it's actually probably how you came into my audience now that I think about it through some roundabout way, I'm sure.
- 23:29Speaker 1: So getting featured on podcasts is incredible for increased visibility and people finding you, and that podcast actually went live.
- 23:39Speaker 1: I remember it because this is so crazy.
- 23:43Speaker 1: I just remember all the details it was March 19th, that episode was published because it's my mom's birthday and it was also 2020.
- 23:48Speaker 1: So it was literally like a week after we had all gone into lockdown and that was such a serendipitous time to be featured on such a huge show, because many people were turning to all different forms of media that they could consume just to comfort themselves and do something, and we were all really bored, and so it was a perfect storm moment for me.
- 24:09Speaker 1: That really helped my career take off.
- 24:11Speaker 1: And obviously I'd been teaching in the schools and so I was sent home from work at that time and they had told us two weeks, as they told everybody.
- 24:19Speaker 1: And I was so excited about those two weeks because I was like I get to be full-time in my business and like play as if I'm a full-time entrepreneur for these two weeks, like I'm fucking stoked.
- 24:27Speaker 1: And then also that podcast went live and so many new people were coming into my audience and I think I signed like 17 clients from that and I was making thousands of dollars from it, and so I actually never went back to work after that.
- 24:44Speaker 1: So that was crazy.
- 24:45Speaker 1: And then my own podcast obviously is another reason why I have to mention that, because it's been I think, one of no, it's been the best nurturing tool for me to bring people into my spaces.
- 24:57Speaker 1: It's funny I just had a group of women from my top tier mastermind here doing our little in-person retreat that we do at the end of the mastermind, and we were all kind of talking and they all every single one of them said I joined the mastermind because of your podcast, and I didn't even know that.
- 25:13Speaker 1: I was like wow, and you start like pulling people and really like getting the stats on this, because I didn't realize how deep it runs, but truly, so many people that end up in my world are there because of the podcast.
- 25:24Speaker 1: So, whether it's YouTube or some other form of long form content, I think long form content and podcasting.
- 25:30Speaker 1: Podcasting especially, though, because you get to become part of someone's.
- 25:33Speaker 1: If they're sold into your show, you get to become part of their life.
- 25:37Speaker 1: You become part of their routine.
- 25:38Speaker 1: They know when your episodes drop.
- 25:39Speaker 1: They're waiting for you.
- 25:40Speaker 1: You are part of their Wednesday or their Monday or their Friday.
- 25:46Speaker 1: They know when you're available and you become part of their life.
- 25:47Speaker 1: You become omnipresent in their existence and that's really, really powerful when it comes to marketing and, of course, building so much like-know and trust that they're so ready to buy at the point of you bringing something up as an offer.
- 26:01Speaker 1: So, personal brand podcasting, and then, I think, my last there's so many other things that I could say, but I think my last one I'm going to reserve for spirituality, because the intersection of strategy and spirituality is where I really sit when it comes to business mentorship and I think in a lot of ways that makes the way that I do business kind of unique, because there are a lot of people that are really intelligent at business and marketing but they're very disconnected from their hearts and they're very driven by these other metrics.
- 26:33Speaker 1: And for me it's a really, really holistic kind of picture that I'm always going for for myself and for my clients of are we feeling joyful?
- 26:42Speaker 1: Is there fulfillment in our lives?
- 26:44Speaker 1: Do we have a higher purpose?
- 26:45Speaker 1: Are we connected to some sort of higher power?
- 26:47Speaker 1: I don't care what you believe, I care that you believe, and that's really important because you believing in something is going to be the thing that provides you with the fuel and the courage to actually be able to take the risk and the action that's necessary for you to get where you want to go.
- 27:00Speaker 1: If you are stuck in your head and you don't have that compass and you don't have that belief system, then you're not going to be able to make big enough moves to actually get you where I know that you want to go and where I want to take you.
- 27:12Speaker 1: And so I think spirituality has been a huge pillar in my life and there's so many things woven into that, of course, belief, faith, life.
- 27:22Speaker 1: And there's so many things woven into that, of course, belief, faith, intuition, knowing how to listen to yourself, doing things because they feel right, not just because they're going to get an outcome.
- 27:32Speaker 1: There's so much woven into that.
- 27:33Speaker 1: But, yeah, I can't not have that in the top three.
- 27:35Speaker 3: Yeah, well done.
- 27:35Speaker 3: I agree, the podcast has changed my business as well and I find so much comfort in my podcast.
- 27:41Speaker 3: I don't know, when you get behind that mic you just feel like you can tell them everything.
- 27:44Speaker 3: I'm like I've never met, like most of my audience, but I just feel like I can just be so open and vulnerable in a way.
- 27:51Speaker 1: On Instagram.
- 27:51Speaker 1: Oh my God, I'm so rogue on the podcast, like I'm saying shit that I would never say on Instagram.
- 27:58Speaker 1: It's, it's crazy I actually do.
- 28:00Speaker 1: You do video on your podcast now.
- 28:02Speaker 3: Sometimes yeah.
- 28:03Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 28:04Speaker 3: Sorry, but I get grabs of it.
- 28:06Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah.
- 28:07Speaker 1: So we started doing like full video episodes and I'm trying to like, I'm finding that it's creating a different, energetic for sure.
- 28:15Speaker 1: Because when you're just, when there's no video and you're just like, it's you and the mic like whoa, like we can really go some places, like you feel I don't know what it is, but you feel so safe, it's like a diary entry.
- 28:24Speaker 1: It's actually frightening sometimes, but then when you add video in, I've noticed I'm like okay, I have to maintain I have, I have to not let it affect me, like I have to stay.
- 28:33Speaker 1: You know the way that I am when it front of me, I'm like throws me out of whack a little bit.
- 28:47Speaker 3: But yeah, no, I love the podcast and I love what you're saying too, about no matter what in business and you know, again, in life you've always got to believe in what you're here to do, and I've had so many moments in my business where and I'm sure you probably have as well where you've really got to put your blinders on, especially with the world of social media.
- 29:00Speaker 3: It is so easy to get wrapped up in that strategy, that way of growing your business.
- 29:05Speaker 3: Oh, that's working for them.
- 29:11Speaker 3: Let's give it a crack.
- 29:12Speaker 3: But being really good at staying concrete in what you believe in and the way that you want to do business is such a powerful way to be in business, which, I'm sure you would agree, is definitely a muscle to build early on in business.
- 29:24Speaker 3: It is very easy to get swayed in terms of, yeah, again, that's working, I'm going to give that a go.
- 29:29Speaker 3: But again, to always come back into how do I want to grow my business, what feels good for me, and making that the only way that's going to work out for you.
- 29:39Speaker 1: Yeah, absolutely.
- 29:40Speaker 1: I mean, like I think this is one of the biggest things that holds people back in a lot of ways is the shiny object syndrome of like seeing things that are working, or assuming that things are working because you see a successful person doing it or talking about it, and there's so much that we don't know.
- 29:55Speaker 1: And so it's really really, really important for your own happiness and fulfillment, but also for you know the safety and success and longevity of your business, that you're doing things in the way that are going to feel good for you.
- 30:06Speaker 1: I'm never going to give cookie cutter approaches to my clients, because I'm so well aware that what is going to work best for the mom of four who's building a business on the side is going to be totally different than what is going to work best for my 23-year-old viral TikToker client.
- 30:25Speaker 1: They're two different people and they need to operate their businesses in two different ways, and so it's important that I help guide them and I'm diverse enough as a mentor to honor the fact that they need two different things, and we ultimately want them to be happy.
- 30:42Speaker 1: That's the goal right, because what is success if it's empty?
- 30:44Speaker 1: What is success if it's not fulfillment?
- 30:46Speaker 1: What is success if we don't actually have free time or space to enjoy our relationships or to do the things that we want to do, or we're just a slave to the business all the time 100% and you've got to just trial a few things to find that and then always come back to like does this feel good for me?
- 31:04Speaker 3: And I feel like that's something that I've had to do a lot in my business, like giving things a go, but always maintaining that question of like, okay, does that, did this feel good for me?
- 31:12Speaker 3: Like, did I enjoy doing that?
- 31:14Speaker 3: And always being okay to change things up as well, I think is really powerful as well.
- 31:18Speaker 3: Again, like not being just a slave to your business and living on autopilot and just doing the same things over and over again, being okay with like, pivoting and shifting and changing just because it no longer aligns with you and feels good for you.
- 31:31Speaker 3: And I guess that circles back to that could be somewhat of a bit of a risk in business to some people because it's like no, but that's been working for you.
- 31:38Speaker 3: Like, why would you change it up if it's producing results?
- 31:40Speaker 3: But again, like, if you're not finding fulfillment in your business or whatever it is that you're doing in life, like that's the number one and being okay to change that up.
- 31:49Speaker 3: My next question for you and I know you mentioned getting showcased on that podcast early days was a big moment for you.
- 31:57Speaker 3: But if you could reflect back on your professional career in your business, has there been a moment, a shift, where you're like things really just took off?
- 32:06Speaker 3: After that point you really felt the momentum build and if so, what was that particular?
- 32:12Speaker 1: thing.
- 32:12Speaker 1: Yeah, obviously, the feature on that podcast was one of them, but I think another one was when I really got super intentional with my content, because I used to view my content as kind of the if and when I have time I'm going to post, yeah, sort of thing.
- 32:33Speaker 1: It was like the last thing on my to-do list for most days.
- 32:36Speaker 1: I was building courses and serving my clients and trying to start a podcast and doing all these other things, and so I was creating on a whim a lot, which was like sometimes it would be 10 PM and I'd be like, ah, I didn't post today, like shit, and I'm trying to write a caption and I'm tired and I want to sleep, but I feel like I have to.
- 32:54Speaker 1: And creating from that space was never as effective as being super intentional and actually giving it structure and really treating social media like the vehicle that it is in our businesses.
- 33:09Speaker 1: I think sometimes we take for granted the fact that we have these free platforms where we can access thousands, hundreds of thousands, millions of people we can access thousands, hundreds of thousands, millions of people and we get really in our victim mindset around it of like, oh, but it's hard, and oh, I don't feel like it and oh, it takes so much time.
- 33:25Speaker 1: And you know like, oh my God, it takes me two hours to make a reel and wait, wait, wait, wait.
- 33:29Speaker 1: No one's watching my story.
- 33:30Speaker 1: Wait, wait, like really just having to be like literally no, yeah, like no, like stopping a baby, no more victim consciousness around social media.
- 33:42Speaker 1: Like this is a part of your business.
- 33:43Speaker 1: It's a powerful vehicle like schedule it in, sit the fuck down, get it done, be intentional.
- 33:49Speaker 1: And it was a one shift that I made where I just set up a split in my schedule where I started ideating kind of writing content on Fridays and then I would leave like literally my entire Mondays to like film, shoot videos, create like the cover slides to my reels, put everything together and schedule them out.
- 34:08Speaker 1: And I did that for over a year and that year was the biggest year in my business.
- 34:14Speaker 1: I got more comments than ever of people saying like, oh my gosh, I'm obsessed with your content.
- 34:21Speaker 1: Your content is so top tier.
- 34:23Speaker 1: People were saying that before I even made top tier mastermind, which I was like oh my gosh, that's so funny, but obviously it was in my subconscious somewhere.
- 34:29Speaker 1: But I got so much more.
- 34:31Speaker 1: Yeah, people ready to work with you and ready to buy kind of energy, because it was no longer posting like when I felt like it, but it really was me sitting down and going.
- 34:42Speaker 1: What do I want to talk about this week?
- 34:44Speaker 1: What's going to move the needle?
- 34:45Speaker 1: Who is my ideal client?
- 34:47Speaker 1: How can I call up to these people and really gear my messaging towards the people that are at a higher level, attracting higher caliber clients and posting for those people?
- 34:56Speaker 1: Because something that I've realized when it comes to marketing is when you call up meaning you kind of reach high with the person that you're speaking to even someone who's totally not there yet but they're aspiring to be there they're going to be intrigued and interested in that type of content.
- 35:13Speaker 1: When you call down and you're speaking to the people that are a little bit in that like victim-y space of are you tired of this and do you want to stop being like that and are you sick of this, like that's only going to be attractive to the person that is really in that space and also likely that's not really the type of client that you want to work with, because you have to spend so much time empowering them to a point of courage to actually even invest in themselves before you can get to the real meat and juice of the empowerment of actually what you do right.
- 35:43Speaker 1: And so actually being really intentional with your content and your creation and blocking it out and scheduling it in, and being conscious of how and who you're messaging to and I feel like, as a consumer, you can notice when the creator is very intentional with their content.
- 35:59Speaker 3: You know whether it's the actual content itself or the caption.
- 36:02Speaker 3: Like I feel like you can really you notice that and I remember you talking about that shift on your page and I remember noticing that you know like everything was just seamless and it was all tying in together and you know like, yeah, I just feel like you can really notice when someone is taking that extra effort on social media and, as you said, it's it is easy to hate on social media, but it is such a powerful tool within our business.
- 36:26Speaker 3: Um, and I'm the same, I'm really trying to create that space for social media, because there was a long time where I would look at the creation of content as like a bit of a waste of time.
- 36:37Speaker 3: You know this is taking so much of my time, like I don't have time to do this.
- 36:40Speaker 3: Da, da, da da, but like really, other than the podcast, that is how people find me, so really just like recognizing the power behind it and doing whatever you can to really bring it into your, into your business.
- 36:53Speaker 1: Yeah, I started viewing it as an income producing activity because, when you get down to it, if you are building a personal brand on social like, for you and I it's like podcasts and social content is going to be the number one, that's top of funnel, that's like where most people are coming into our world.
- 37:08Speaker 1: So if I'm half-assing it or I'm kind of neglecting it, it's like, well, obviously that's going to impact my sales.
- 37:15Speaker 1: So it is, in a lot of ways, an income producing activity.
- 37:19Speaker 1: Even if people don't buy right away, they're buying in to you and to your brand and the idea of you and a future of working with you when your content is really good and it's speaking to them.
- 37:30Speaker 1: You love that.
- 37:31Speaker 3: Love that.
- 37:32Speaker 3: Before I let you go, I wanted to flip this on the head now.
- 37:35Speaker 3: We've spoken about some incredible moments in your business journey and your life.
- 37:39Speaker 3: I'd love for you to touch on if there's been a particular hurdle or, you know, one limiting belief that's just been so stuck in your mind that you've really had to work on overcoming and, if so, how, how you did that.
- 37:53Speaker 1: Yeah, so I'll share with you one that is present in my life right now and has been for some time, so I wouldn't say that I'm totally through it, which I think makes it even more powerful to share.
- 38:05Speaker 1: But this one is about my ability to be a successful entrepreneur and also be a really intentional and present and loving mother.
- 38:16Speaker 1: Also be a really intentional and present and loving mother and knowing that that is something that I desire and that's part of my near future that I'm so hopeful will unfold for me in God's will.
- 38:28Speaker 1: But I've had so many thoughts and fears and conversations about this and again, I think the thing that's helping me through it a lot is expanders and other incredible entrepreneurs that are moms and hearing those experiences of how their children provided them with more purpose and more drive, and actually having the limited amount of time from having babies is something that forced them to be even more productive.
- 38:56Speaker 1: Because I can admit like I probably waste a lot of time.
- 38:59Speaker 1: It's very easy to get distracted.
- 39:01Speaker 1: We all do.
- 39:01Speaker 1: We're on social, we're scrolling, you're 30 minutes in a rabbit hole and you're like, oh my God, shoot, I was supposed to do that thing.
- 39:07Speaker 1: You can't be doing that anymore when you have a baby that's not available.
- 39:12Speaker 1: So I'm really leaning on my expanders and conversations with women that have done it Once again.
- 39:19Speaker 1: Like you see someone that has something that you desire and instead of being like, oh well, she can do it because of this or that, or she has more money in her business or she has, so it's, it's easier for her, it's safer for her, like she can take a step back instead of making excuses for why they can have it and I can't.
- 39:40Speaker 1: It's really about, like, pulling up a chair and saying, like, how'd you do it?
- 39:42Speaker 1: Tell me the real real of like what it's like.
- 39:43Speaker 1: And I think it's also been helpful of learning you know the not so shiny side of that.
- 39:48Speaker 1: And again, because how am I going to be able to trust myself if I'm in this delusional thought process that, like it's all going to be totally fine and nothing is going to change and I'm going to be equally as productive and we're going to make just as much money Like?
- 40:00Speaker 1: I don't want to go in like that either.
- 40:02Speaker 1: Exactly what we're talking about with Dory and Dorby, you know, to have kids or not have kids.
- 40:07Speaker 1: I want to be fully informed about what that could be like and then utilize my self-trust to understand.
- 40:14Speaker 1: A lot of things are probably going to change and although I might feel really inspired and lit up and have more of a purpose and a drive to provide for my kids and be forced into this really productive state because I have just nap time to get things done, it's also really real that I think our purpose shifts and our priorities shift, and I think a lot of my mentors have explained to me their desire to be on social media or really involved in their business, especially early on.
- 40:43Speaker 1: Postpartum definitely went down, but there's things that you can do to prepare for that and so, yeah, for me it's just about having those expanders, having the conversations, tapping into the self-trust of knowing that it's not all going to be perfect and I'm not going to have all the answers and I'm not going to be prepared ever, but I can trust and know that I'm going to be smart enough, safe enough, resourceful enough to figure it out and then I'll be okay.
- 41:08Speaker 1: I'll be okay.
- 41:10Speaker 3: I love that.
- 41:11Speaker 3: And so it's just about like getting the like, as you mentioned, the realistic side of what's to come.
- 41:16Speaker 3: And, as you mentioned, as you mentioned the realistic side of what's to come, and, as you mentioned, like, sometimes we go into things like being somewhat delusional or avoiding dealing with, like what could come up, and sometimes that's the very reason why we don't take the leap, because subconsciously we know that these things are going to come up for us and we're just like wanting to avoid dealing with it.
- 41:32Speaker 3: What that actually does is avoid us actually taking this step.
- 41:35Speaker 3: So when you can fully educate yourself on like, okay, let's be fully realistic, what's, what's this going to look like for me?
- 41:41Speaker 3: And then go through and like pre-plan how you can navigate some of those hurdles, most of the time you're like, okay, no, I can do that.
- 41:48Speaker 3: It's actually not as bad as what I had made out in my mind.
- 41:50Speaker 3: And now you've opened up that door to take a step forward.
- 41:54Speaker 3: Yeah Well, what's next for you?
- 41:56Speaker 3: What?
- 41:59Speaker 3: Yeah Well, what's next for you?
- 41:59Speaker 3: What's next for your business?
- 42:00Speaker 3: I know you are on fire at the moment.
- 42:01Speaker 3: I'm just loving everything you're doing in your world, but I'm sure you've got so much on the agenda for what's to come, yeah.
- 42:06Speaker 1: I think the podcast is obviously really important to me.
- 42:09Speaker 1: We just started doing full video episodes, so YouTube is a big project right now.
- 42:13Speaker 1: I've never been on YouTube before, so we're kind of figuring that out.
- 42:17Speaker 1: And I have my two business masterminds that I'm loving.
- 42:21Speaker 1: I still have A&A and we obviously have Top Tier, which we're launching right now and, yeah, I think like motherhood is somewhere on the horizon.
- 42:32Speaker 1: I keep getting signs.
- 42:33Speaker 1: So, yeah, that might be coming into the picture at some point.
- 42:37Speaker 1: I'm not trying so not like super soon, like knock on wood, but yeah, in terms of like what's coming up, I think it's that I took this year off of running retreats, but I'm definitely going to bring retreats back into the fold at some point.
- 42:52Speaker 1: So that's really exciting because that'll be kind of like reimagined and maybe some new locations and, yeah, just like deepening into the work that I'm already doing.
- 43:01Speaker 1: That's I'm really loving client experience and focusing on client retention and course completion and really helping make all of the things that we have built up into this point as effective as possible, rather than coming up with a million new ideas or putting out a million new products.
- 43:24Speaker 1: That's kind of like the season that I'm in right now is like refinement client experience, just deepening and making things even better.
- 43:31Speaker 3: And I have loved that.
- 43:32Speaker 3: You've been sharing that a lot on social media.
- 43:34Speaker 3: We don't always need to be moving on to the next thing.
- 43:36Speaker 3: It's okay to nurture where we are and make where we are even better.
- 43:40Speaker 3: It doesn't always look like it doesn't always have to look like a new project, a new program, a new something.
- 43:46Speaker 3: It's okay to be okay with where we're at right now and I've loved hearing that with you because it's a nice reminder for all of us.
- 43:52Speaker 3: You know, it doesn't matter where we are in our life.
- 43:54Speaker 3: It is very easy to go okay, what's next for me and just like keep that ball moving along.
- 43:59Speaker 3: But sometimes it's just as powerful just to send to yourself and be like let's enjoy where we're at right now and make that experience even better.
- 44:07Speaker 3: So I've loved seeing that coming from you on social media.
- 44:10Speaker 3: Well, thank you so much for everything today.
- 44:12Speaker 3: I just I love chatting with you.
- 44:14Speaker 3: If someone which I'm so sure has absolutely resonated with your story, what is the best place to link up with you?
- 44:22Speaker 3: Where's the best place to come and link up with you?
- 44:24Speaker 3: You mentioned top tier is open right now.
- 44:26Speaker 3: What else have you got going on in terms of offers?
- 44:29Speaker 1: Yeah, so top tier mastermind is for established business owners.
- 44:33Speaker 1: That's open right now.
- 44:34Speaker 1: We start in July and it's a six month mastermind.
- 44:38Speaker 1: We'll work together until the end of the year.
- 44:39Speaker 1: There's an in-person retreat included, which is really, really exciting.
- 44:43Speaker 1: I know I mentioned I wasn't doing retreats, but I meant like my big kind of like international ones.
- 44:48Speaker 1: We still have our immersions that we do for our mastermind students.
- 44:51Speaker 1: But, yeah, where they can find me, I hang out mostly on Instagram at underscore, samantha dailyaly.
- 44:57Speaker 1: You guys can come listen to the podcast Makeshift Happen.
- 44:59Speaker 1: Would love if you come over and give us a listen, and we have YouTube now for Makeshift Happen, but you can follow me there at underscore, samantha Daly, same handle.
- 45:09Speaker 1: And yeah, if you're interested in any offers or working together in business capacity, you can always send me a DM.
- 45:14Speaker 3: Yay, well, I will link all of those links in the show notes below.
- 45:20Speaker 3: Yeah, go and give Sam a follow.
- 45:20Speaker 3: She is an incredible person to have in your world and it's, as you said, an expander for so many women as well.
- 45:25Speaker 3: So thank you for being that for me, thank you for being a shining light in my world and my business.
- 45:29Speaker 3: As I said, you have definitely had a big impact on my journey and I just cannot wait for the time we do work together again, which I know will come up very soon.
- 45:39Speaker 3: But thank you for your time.
- 45:41Speaker 3: I know it is also late there today, so I'm very grateful that you've made the time.
- 45:44Speaker 3: Of course, yes, yay, well, we'll leave it there.
- 45:48Speaker 3: Thank you so much for tuning in.
- 45:50Speaker 3: Go and show Sam some love, let her know what you thought about our episode and I will see you guys next week.
- 45:55Speaker 3: Bye.
