- 0:27Speaker 3: how are I'm a.
- 0:29Speaker 1: Little bit annoyed actually because I've got a glass half
- 0:33Speaker 1: a glass of water on the desk here and this
- 0:35Speaker 1: I do this all the time, fellows, and it's like,
- 0:39Speaker 1: is that my one?
- 0:40Speaker 2: Probably you probably left it in here?
- 0:42Speaker 1: Keazy?
- 0:43Speaker 2: No, I walked to the last night. You did not
- 0:45Speaker 2: leave a glass of water every fucking night. Man, It's not.
- 0:48Speaker 3: You didn't leave a glass of water in here last
- 0:50Speaker 3: night because you knocked it over and spilt it on
- 0:52Speaker 3: the countertop.
- 0:54Speaker 2: Did you clean it up?
- 0:54Speaker 1: Jas? I did with my with my sheet run down
- 0:59Speaker 1: and only enough. I did that while I was talking
- 1:01Speaker 1: about that dude that splattered his eggs everywhere.
- 1:04Speaker 2: Yeah, what did the brick? You guys come in and complain.
- 1:06Speaker 3: Yes they does yep, And I was like, why is
- 1:08Speaker 3: my keyboard just got a whole puddle of water underneath it?
- 1:11Speaker 2: I was the one person the one time Ja just
- 1:15Speaker 2: takes his glass, he leaves the contents of his glass
- 1:17Speaker 2: and easy.
- 1:18Speaker 1: If this is how it going to be today, we're
- 1:20Speaker 1: going to end up in festy.
- 1:22Speaker 2: Cap no, no, But.
- 1:23Speaker 1: I have this. I have this one thing that I
- 1:28Speaker 1: you know, because you get was that meningja cockle not
- 1:31Speaker 1: meningja cockle, meningitis if you share a glass.
- 1:34Speaker 2: My cousin died of that.
- 1:36Speaker 1: And seriously, it's always stuck in my head. And so
- 1:38Speaker 1: it's like my one paranoia. Like if I'm on set
- 1:42Speaker 1: or something and I'll have a drink and I'll put
- 1:43Speaker 1: it down, then I go, ah, do you want hang
- 1:46Speaker 1: it hand? But is that my drink?
- 1:48Speaker 2: Do you want us to get you a special hoodij glass?
- 1:50Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 1:51Speaker 2: Probably, because that'd be a good way to do it,
- 1:53Speaker 2: or start drinking out of a really stupid glass that
- 1:55Speaker 2: no one else is going to use.
- 1:56Speaker 1: Good idea, Kesy, But this is a.
- 1:58Speaker 2: Big dilly spish on the old podcast here because a
- 2:01Speaker 2: lot of people would have listened, you know, or like
- 2:03Speaker 2: seen or heard the name Big Dilli reference, but they
- 2:05Speaker 2: don't know the guy Deli is a deep dive into
- 2:08Speaker 2: Big Yeah, so you grew up when you grow up Tomorrow,
- 2:11Speaker 2: I'm from Tim Yeah, right, beautiful spot. It's a great spot.
- 2:14Speaker 1: So you've done welding?
- 2:15Speaker 2: Yeah, the good ones get out? Yes, yeah, Well that's
- 2:18Speaker 2: interesting because Biggs from ash Manai's from why mad or
- 2:23Speaker 2: Why or why Maddie as they call it. I'm from Yeah,
- 2:28Speaker 2: and I'm from but like those small south out Island towns, Yes,
- 2:32Speaker 2: very hard to get out of the.
- 2:34Speaker 3: Well and South Canterbury and then Ashburn's on the cusp
- 2:39Speaker 3: of they could probably fuck.
- 2:41Speaker 2: Ashburton sucks and it does. Yeah, I forget on the podcast.
- 2:43Speaker 1: And they all kind they all kind of have sex
- 2:46Speaker 1: with each other. Ah yeah, those communities.
- 2:49Speaker 2: Do they trash bit And is it you can't say
- 2:52Speaker 2: you're telling me that Timrouw doesn't have the same weird.
- 2:54Speaker 3: We're allowed to punch down right and very really, you know,
- 2:57Speaker 3: it's not often that you get that Tomorrow gets to
- 2:59Speaker 3: make fun of her place because Tim also sucks.
- 3:01Speaker 2: Yeah. Well, that's the funny thing about Timmaru. I didn't
- 3:03Speaker 2: realize is Meniah and his partner Jiss, who hang out
- 3:07Speaker 2: with quite a lot that were saying when they needed
- 3:08Speaker 2: to go to the town or the big city, they'd
- 3:09Speaker 2: go to Timorrow. Who's the big city? Yeah, because why man,
- 3:12Speaker 2: it is such a small shithole.
- 3:13Speaker 1: Did you first sort of come to Auckland and go wow, wow,
- 3:17Speaker 1: big city? Yeah, the big skyscrapers, they're probably like a
- 3:22Speaker 1: two story building or something.
- 3:23Speaker 2: Well, Dilly was an Aussie for a long I was.
- 3:25Speaker 3: Yeah, in all honesty, I did live in Australia before
- 3:27Speaker 3: I moved to Auckland. So just Brizzy did the Gold
- 3:31Speaker 3: Coaster two years in Brisbane for two years, Yeah, the
- 3:33Speaker 3: proper New Zealander and Australia experience to go to the
- 3:37Speaker 3: g C.
- 3:37Speaker 1: Yeah, moved to Queensland. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And I do
- 3:40Speaker 1: detect an Australian twain and your voice occasionally. Yeah, I'm
- 3:44Speaker 1: not that. I don't have anything against that, you know.
- 3:47Speaker 3: I tepically it used to be a lot stronger.
- 3:49Speaker 1: I can confirm that talking to my daughter who's now
- 3:51Speaker 1: living in Australia and has been for seven years. She
- 3:54Speaker 1: came back and I was chatting to her the other
- 3:56Speaker 1: night and I was just like, oh no, it's really
- 4:00Speaker 1: good Dad, because she used to talk.
- 4:04Speaker 2: She used to talk just like you, right, Yeah.
- 4:06Speaker 1: She had my kind of dulcet tones with a really beautiful,
- 4:10Speaker 1: rounded New Zealand accent.
- 4:11Speaker 2: And now it is a fucking gross accent Aussie. By
- 4:19Speaker 2: the way, me dissing those shithole towns in the South,
- 4:21Speaker 2: I actually love them.
- 4:22Speaker 1: But you know, come on, if you're going to diss
- 4:26Speaker 1: the man, just own but.
- 4:28Speaker 2: Like I mean, I'm dissing them in a way like
- 4:30Speaker 2: you know, like Hamilton's ship, you know, but an actual fact.
- 4:33Speaker 2: I don't mind Hamilton, but you just say that North sucks,
- 4:38Speaker 2: you know.
- 4:39Speaker 1: For me, PALMEI North is a shedthole. Now I don't
- 4:45Speaker 1: want to I don't want to offend the people of
- 4:47Speaker 1: Palm I love the people of Parmeston North.
- 4:49Speaker 2: Really what do you like about them?
- 4:50Speaker 1: But it's like when I first when I first went
- 4:53Speaker 1: to Parmeston North, my first impression was, this is like
- 4:57Speaker 1: someone's picked up a city and dropped it in the
- 4:59Speaker 1: middle of a paddock. That was my first initial thought.
- 5:03Speaker 1: And to be fair, I think I've been there twice
- 5:06Speaker 1: in my life and not for long.
- 5:07Speaker 2: You know, when you say pick up a city, what
- 5:09Speaker 2: I'm picturing is you've pulled a plant out from the
- 5:12Speaker 2: ground and it's got all the roots there, and you've
- 5:14Speaker 2: shaken all the dude off, all the good stuff is gone,
- 5:16Speaker 2: and then you've plunked it on the grass. Yeah that's
- 5:19Speaker 2: what Because Parmison North isn't a big city. No, it's
- 5:22Speaker 2: just that weird square in the middle. Yes, and yeah,
- 5:25Speaker 2: no it's not that good.
- 5:26Speaker 3: It's just sort of there. It is when you're traveling
- 5:28Speaker 3: up from Wellington to Auckland and yeah, it's just.
- 5:31Speaker 1: It's just the sort of place. It's the sort of
- 5:33Speaker 1: place you avoid, really.
- 5:34Speaker 2: Isn't it.
- 5:37Speaker 1: It's amazing how it survived.
- 5:40Speaker 2: What do you think?
- 5:41Speaker 3: They just doesn't The face doesn't have a purpose being there,
- 5:44Speaker 3: it's just there.
- 5:45Speaker 1: Well just who goes to Parmeerston North? Who goes there? No?
- 5:50Speaker 1: Not me? And I mean I'm sure the people have
- 5:53Speaker 1: parmeised the North absolutely love it and there and to
- 5:57Speaker 1: each other. There is a community.
- 5:58Speaker 2: That's all that matters, man, you know what? And so
- 6:00Speaker 2: have they and joyed that.
- 6:01Speaker 1: That's the Who am I? Who am I? I said
- 6:04Speaker 1: the front key? Can you just kill what your sharker?
- 6:10Speaker 1: Who am I? To desk Parmeson North. I apologize, yeah
- 6:15Speaker 1: for dissing Parmeson North. It's a great city.
- 6:17Speaker 2: And what about all those South islandtowns you went in
- 6:19Speaker 2: on before?
- 6:20Speaker 1: Oh, I know they're terrible.
- 6:21Speaker 2: That ship The Warchy Big Show week days from four
- 6:26Speaker 2: on Radio Hiarchy The Wcky Big Show Podcast. Were you
- 6:31Speaker 2: a car salesman, Dilly?
- 6:33Speaker 1: I was.
- 6:33Speaker 3: I was a car salesman for Holden over there for
- 6:36Speaker 3: a couple wow. So I was working there as Holden
- 6:39Speaker 3: basically disappeared into nothingness because sales. No, No, it was
- 6:45Speaker 3: just because of the production in Australian economy.
- 6:49Speaker 1: Yes.
- 6:49Speaker 3: Actually, so I said to myself that as soon as
- 6:53Speaker 3: Holden has gone and done, then I'm gonna move on
- 6:56Speaker 3: from car sales.
- 6:57Speaker 1: Thank god I did.
- 6:58Speaker 2: Castle sucks, Yeah, I can image. And so you would
- 7:01Speaker 2: have been selling not the cool holdings, not is commodores
- 7:04Speaker 2: and stuff, but you were selling like that Vauxhels and stuff.
- 7:07Speaker 3: I was a used car salesman for whole tidens did
- 7:10Speaker 3: get to sell the cool stuff.
- 7:11Speaker 2: So everyone come in.
- 7:12Speaker 1: And be like, oh, you're not selling yeah, and I'm like.
- 7:16Speaker 3: Well actually I've got heaps out back and they're like
- 7:18Speaker 3: oh okay, yeah, right.
- 7:20Speaker 1: So it's interesting because my wife and I were walking
- 7:22Speaker 1: along K Road the other day and then we carried
- 7:24Speaker 1: on as a great north road that you go on
- 7:27Speaker 1: to through K Road past the mobile and they've got
- 7:29Speaker 1: all those really flash car prestige. It's like Cadlegg dealership.
- 7:35Speaker 1: There's about three or four in a row of just
- 7:37Speaker 1: on the on the right hand side as you're going
- 7:40Speaker 1: down towards Graylan of the flashes cars. And we were like,
- 7:44Speaker 1: I wonder how many of these if you were selling
- 7:47Speaker 1: them you sell in a week or a month, and
- 7:50Speaker 1: what the commission would be? Say, it was like as
- 7:53Speaker 1: a ninety thousand dollar car.
- 7:55Speaker 2: No more than that, about five hundred thousand dollars Clarens
- 7:58Speaker 2: and stuff and that.
- 7:58Speaker 1: And it's like, what how many would you sell and
- 8:01Speaker 1: how much would be your commission? Do you know what's.
- 8:04Speaker 2: Interesting is I was chating to a mate who sells
- 8:07Speaker 2: an type of vehicle which ever since the anti money
- 8:10Speaker 2: laundering stuff came in in like twenty twenty two, or
- 8:13Speaker 2: maybe it was earlier than that, which there was a
- 8:15Speaker 2: big crackdown on anti money laudering, Like there's sales of
- 8:19Speaker 2: vehicles halved straight away. Wow, because that's that's like people
- 8:23Speaker 2: are laundering with those big cars.
- 8:24Speaker 1: Yeah. Well, I mean I find it offensive that someone
- 8:27Speaker 1: would spend that amount of money on a car anyway.
- 8:29Speaker 2: But what if they've got that money?
- 8:30Speaker 1: Yeah, but even then I go, what what are you doing? What?
- 8:34Speaker 1: What if they are you doing?
- 8:36Speaker 2: But what if they've or like they've got so much money,
- 8:38Speaker 2: and it's just like, look, I've given heaps to charity,
- 8:40Speaker 2: I've got a big house, I've got a holiday house.
- 8:42Speaker 1: I might just buy one of the then give it.
- 8:45Speaker 1: Go down Queen Street and give it to the homeless.
- 8:47Speaker 1: Go over to the Bloody York and City Mission keys E, Yeah,
- 8:51Speaker 1: and give them a million dollars.
- 8:52Speaker 2: One hundred percent. Actually, And I agree with you much.
- 8:56Speaker 1: But I do find that sort of stuff fascinating because
- 8:58Speaker 1: I go, God, I wonder how many any of those
- 9:00Speaker 1: bastards they because they are like Casy were saying, really
- 9:04Speaker 1: fucking flash cars.
- 9:06Speaker 3: I did used to work for a flash car dealership
- 9:09Speaker 3: down in Chrish it's my name names but you know,
- 9:12Speaker 3: you know, no.
- 9:14Speaker 2: There's more than one action.
- 9:15Speaker 1: Is it on a corner?
- 9:15Speaker 2: No, it's a big corner.
- 9:17Speaker 3: Everyone gets it wrong. Okay, it's not that one. Okay,
- 9:19Speaker 3: it's very similar to that one. You'd be surprised at
- 9:22Speaker 3: how much product they move. I mean, I was working
- 9:25Speaker 3: down there. It was post earthquakes, so a lot of
- 9:27Speaker 3: people were suffering, but there's a lot of businesses made
- 9:29Speaker 3: a lot of money during earthquakes. Yes, a lot of
- 9:30Speaker 3: money floating around there was.
- 9:32Speaker 2: And also what's the commission on some of the used
- 9:34Speaker 2: car what's your commission? My commission?
- 9:36Speaker 3: Back in the day, it would start at one hundred
- 9:39Speaker 3: dollars a car and I would have a target of
- 9:41Speaker 3: fifteen in a month, and as soon as I hit that,
- 9:44Speaker 3: then it would go up. And then there's like if
- 9:46Speaker 3: you finance x amount then you'd get a cut of that,
- 9:49Speaker 3: and if you get like paying protection windows, and then
- 9:51Speaker 3: you get a cut of that.
- 9:52Speaker 2: And that's that's on top of your gallery, on top
- 9:55Speaker 2: of the salary, which is it wasn't it wasn't live.
- 9:57Speaker 2: We called it a showing up to work fee. I
- 9:59Speaker 2: did have wish name, I can't quite remember it.
- 10:01Speaker 1: So yeah, you net. It was shit.
- 10:03Speaker 3: It was awful even by Australian standards.
- 10:05Speaker 2: So you sit, you're on the salary, which is enough
- 10:08Speaker 2: to get you by, it's enough to live on, and
- 10:10Speaker 2: then you sell a car, you get one hundred bucks
- 10:12Speaker 2: to begin with. And then if you upsell them, do
- 10:14Speaker 2: you want us to tint it or whatever you should do?
- 10:16Speaker 2: You want to finance it? You get and then so
- 10:18Speaker 2: you could make maybe like what five hundred bucks.
- 10:21Speaker 3: Yeah, it gets up, It gets up there a lot,
- 10:23Speaker 3: like the percentages of just a changes so often. And
- 10:25Speaker 3: then if you I think it's if we sold twenty
- 10:28Speaker 3: cars in a month, which is a lot, that's fun,
- 10:30Speaker 3: that's one a day, which is quite a bit, then
- 10:33Speaker 3: you will get a cut of the profits overall. So
- 10:36Speaker 3: I think it was like ten percent of the money
- 10:38Speaker 3: in the cars, and that's when you really start.
- 10:40Speaker 2: That I would hate a job. And there's so many
- 10:42Speaker 2: people listening to this right now who'd be in the situation.
- 10:45Speaker 2: I'm just glad I'm not where I had to sell
- 10:48Speaker 2: or like do something in order to get I fucking
- 10:51Speaker 2: love being on a salary like.
- 10:53Speaker 1: I had that with Greenpeace, Green Pit.
- 10:55Speaker 2: But even you, Jay's back in today where you had
- 10:57Speaker 2: to go and get an acting job to get paid
- 11:00Speaker 2: if you had to, you know what I mean, Yeah,
- 11:01Speaker 2: keep them firing. Well, you have to be well.
- 11:04Speaker 1: With green Peace going door to door, that was a
- 11:07Speaker 1: shitter and you'd get the subscription was twenty bucks to
- 11:12Speaker 1: join up, and we got seven bucks of that, which
- 11:15Speaker 1: is actually quite quite a good when you consider, But
- 11:18Speaker 1: then you'd have to try and you get ten or
- 11:22Speaker 1: fifteen subscriptions every day to make it worth your while.
- 11:25Speaker 2: And to get fifteen that's asking two hundred people.
- 11:28Speaker 3: And here is a numbers game you work out if
- 11:31Speaker 3: I talked to this many people, how many of those
- 11:33Speaker 3: do I sell to? I think it's like my rate
- 11:36Speaker 3: name was like one of four, so you'd have to
- 11:39Speaker 3: talk to four complete randoms and get turned down and
- 11:41Speaker 3: one of them would be a sale.
- 11:42Speaker 1: My hir rate was one and two, I think.
- 11:44Speaker 2: But bullshit.
- 11:47Speaker 1: I do not believe that I was a pretty good salesman.
- 11:50Speaker 2: I would have loved to, like just go back in
- 11:53Speaker 2: time and walk past you was you were working.
- 11:54Speaker 1: For green Peace with my ponytail.
- 11:57Speaker 2: The only story about you and Greenpeace I know is
- 11:59Speaker 2: that you were inside that guy's house and got steam.
- 12:01Speaker 1: Yeah I did, and then he kicked me out because
- 12:03Speaker 1: he would I wouldn't fuck off.
- 12:04Speaker 2: Did you get the sale?
- 12:06Speaker 1: No? I don't think I did it. But I drank
- 12:08Speaker 1: about six or seven beersies and then He was like, Okay,
- 12:11Speaker 1: I think you should go now with it. Yeah, totally,
- 12:15Speaker 1: thank you very much.
- 12:15Speaker 2: Tilly, Hey, no, thank you.
- 12:16Speaker 1: Guys. My daughter's just mocking my insta post.
- 12:19Speaker 2: Why because you did a post about the food you
- 12:22Speaker 2: had today.
- 12:22Speaker 1: Ha ha ha. It's such a dead thing to enjoy
- 12:26Speaker 1: it is? Is it? What is?
- 12:28Speaker 2: What's wrong with it?
- 12:28Speaker 1: Though?
- 12:30Speaker 2: So I am a.
- 12:30Speaker 1: Dead Okay, good idea, KESI.
- 12:34Speaker 2: Hey listen to the Big Show four to seven weekdays
- 12:36Speaker 2: radio heard Uki
