Transcript
- 0:06Hello. What's your least favorite scary
- 0:08movie? Charlie Brown's an asshole.
- 0:16Welcome to What's Your Least Favorite Scary Movie?
- 0:18The podcast where we talk about the good, the bad, the ugly and
- 0:20the absurd, and all of our favorite family's favorite scary
- 0:23movies. Because we believe every horror
- 0:24movie Boo Boo Boo Boo. Every horror movie rightfully
- 0:28has its fan base. Even if we don't always get it.
- 0:30Even if we can't say it. Too, even if we can't speak.
- 0:33My name is Travis. My name is Jesse and yay
- 0:37Halloween. Yay Halloween if.
- 0:39You are choosing to join us on our most favorite day of the
- 0:42year. Thank you so very much.
- 0:43Yeah. This is cool.
- 0:44Yes, because it was we. We didn't pay attention to the
- 0:48calendar and realized that we had five Thursdays in October,
- 0:51one of them being Halloween. This is not a new movie, but
- 0:55this is one we've been dying to talk about on the podcast
- 0:57forever. Trick or treat?
- 0:59Yeah, this is cool. Yeah, cuz we've seen this one.
- 1:03So there was really no way for us to bring this up before with
- 1:06our October format. So yeah, I'm glad that happened
- 1:09because this one, yeah, it's fun.
- 1:11Yeah. And I think this is our very
- 1:12first episode that's ever come out on Halloween days.
- 1:15Yeah, I. Think that's really fun?
- 1:17Really excited. Very happy.
- 1:19OK, before we get started, announcements budget to your
- 1:22patrons. Yes, your bonus episode should
- 1:25be out by now. Yeah, we just, we decided to
- 1:28cover an episode, but a tree House of horror.
- 1:30Yeah. Cuz why not?
- 1:31That's so fun. It's a it's been a tradition for
- 1:34both of us individually and then together for years to just
- 1:37watch, especially the early seasons.
- 1:39I like it, It's fun. I like that idea.
- 1:41Jesse came up with that, so we did.
- 1:44Tree House of Horror 2/3. 3/3 it was in.
- 1:48Season 4 Yeah, yeah, yeah, 3. So yeah, go check that out if
- 1:52you have access to our Patreon or if you're, you know, budget
- 1:57to your bubbies on our Patreon. And also, don't forget about
- 2:00voting for the November movie. The Democratic vote is the right
- 2:04thing to do. So do Philadelphia.
- 2:05Please. Yes, that's up now too.
- 2:08Yes, should be finishing up today.
- 2:10Yeah. So go ahead and get in there if
- 2:13you haven't. Although if your budget here and
- 2:14you're taking advantage of getting to listen to the episode
- 2:16early, just one of the many perks of becoming a Patreon,
- 2:20Bubby. Then you can vote now.
- 2:23Yeah, probably. So do so do Yeah.
- 2:27OK. After that, we've got our scream
- 2:31screen we've got to catch up on. We're still not caught up.
- 2:33We we went over the mountains. Well, up to the top of the
- 2:38mountains. We visited family, is what
- 2:40Jesse's trying to say. But yeah, so Travis.
- 2:46'S family to be. Specific.
- 2:46Yeah, which is in the mountains, so we're a little bit behind,
- 2:51and we're still gonna be rattling some of these off next
- 2:53week in November. Yeah, due to the nature of this
- 2:56format where we record in advance, but up until now, we
- 3:00left you guys off on the 18th, which is when Jesse did swat
- 3:03their house. Yeah.
- 3:04So I got the pick. Actually, it was Halloween 2018
- 3:07because it had been a little bit since I'd seen that one and.
- 3:10It still holds up. Really, really well.
- 3:12And that's a really, really good Halloween movie.
- 3:15It's such a good fucking movie. I just.
- 3:16I felt more compelled to watch it after we got to meet James
- 3:20Jude Courtney, yes, and I fully respect his Michael.
- 3:24I think he's one of the best Michaels in the whole franchise.
- 3:27Dude, he's just also a really cool guy.
- 3:29He's a cool guy. They did a whole panel with all
- 3:31of the shapes that were at Scare Fest this year.
- 3:35They also did one with all the leather faces and Jason and they
- 3:40didn't do a Jason panel. Yeah, they did.
- 3:42I think they did, didn't they? They had them all there.
- 3:44We didn't go to. It we didn't go to that one.
- 3:46No, we missed that one. There were too many panels.
- 3:48Yeah, there were a lot of panels.
- 3:50It was a good time though. Yeah, it was really cool.
- 3:51So after that it was Jessie's pick, which was a new pick.
- 3:55Abigail, what's not to love? We've got Radio silence.
- 4:00We've got Melissa Barrera. Fucking, I can't remember his
- 4:05name. We've got a ballerina vampire.
- 4:08Yeah, what's not the? Love what's Giancarlo Esposito
- 4:12like there? It's a it's a solid cast, solid
- 4:16premise. I enjoyed the heck out of it,
- 4:21Travis, what did you think? I know you were mostly annoyed
- 4:24because you felt like the trailers gave too much away.
- 4:26It absolutely did. But you know, I go into movies
- 4:29all the time knowing, like, the Rundown, like the premise and
- 4:33the beats of them. And that doesn't take away the
- 4:36enjoyment. I still had a lot of fun.
- 4:38But yeah, if I had, like, actually went into this thing
- 4:41blind, I think it would have been more rewarding.
- 4:44OK. Because even the way that they
- 4:46told the story, it was very much like, oh, you, you're not
- 4:50supposed to know this. You know what I mean?
- 4:52I. Don't know.
- 4:56I'm pretty sure they they framed it in such a way where your
- 5:00spoiler maybe, I don't know, cut this.
- 5:02I already said it. Well, you're you're thinking
- 5:05this supposed to be the dad the entire like for a long while
- 5:08that they're afraid of and then like it's whatever.
- 5:13That's another time for when we cover.
- 5:14This yeah, cuz we will cover it because I greatly enjoyed it.
- 5:17I liked it. I thought it was fun.
- 5:19Vampire movies are a tough sell for me.
- 5:20I had fun. So take that for what?
- 5:23Yay what it's worth right there. So yeah, okay.
- 5:26Then after that, it was my pick for a new movie and we had never
- 5:30finished the Paranormal Activity series.
- 5:33We forgot that there was the. Paramount One, the final
- 5:35paranormal did not occur. Yeah.
- 5:37Next of kin paranormal activity next of kin it's on paramount
- 5:41plus if you have not seen it like us it they go to an Amish
- 5:46place and if. You're wondering how, in fact
- 5:49they incorporated cameras into an Amish farm.
- 5:54Have No Fear, they will explain that almost immediately.
- 5:56Yeah, it's actually interesting how they did it.
- 5:59So I. It was a really interesting
- 6:02twist for being in the twenty 20s.
- 6:05Like, yeah, they modernized it. Yeah, they modernized it in a
- 6:08way that I really appreciated. And also it wasn't like the
- 6:12typical like, oh man, paranormal shit's happening.
- 6:14Let's record around the house. I liked the spin that they took
- 6:17with it. Yeah, it was a cool take.
- 6:19Yeah, for sure. Yeah.
- 6:21OK, so after that. It was my familiar pic and it
- 6:26was influencer on Teddy Shudder. Yeah.
- 6:29Yeah. I just really enjoy that movie.
- 6:32I think it's fun. Yeah, chill.
- 6:35Super chill. Super chill, super chill film,
- 6:39which is very. Psychopath.
- 6:42Yeah. He's going over there fucking
- 6:44stealing people shit. I wouldn't mind seeing Cassandra
- 6:47nod in more things cuz she also she was in It's a Wonderful
- 6:51Knife last year too. She was married to Catherine
- 6:53Isabel. Yeah, I'm surprised she's.
- 6:57Yeah, I'm surprised she's not in more things.
- 6:58Yeah, she's she's solid. I like her OK.
- 7:01All right next was my familiar pick, which was Night of the
- 7:04demons. We've talked about it on the
- 7:06show back in the early days, yes, but it's a fun time.
- 7:09It's still like I, I just bought the Screen Factory 4K over their
- 7:15sale over the summer and this is the first time watching it and
- 7:18yeah, it's really good. It's good.
- 7:19I like it a lot. It's got like all of the cuts on
- 7:21it always going to like international cuts, like all
- 7:23kinds of. Yeah, they're not that.
- 7:25Dressing different and never mind.
- 7:27It's still cool. It is cool.
- 7:29It's. Cool to say oh mom got the
- 7:30international cut. Goal More.
- 7:33You think of that, all of that, like you got to do like the
- 7:38wretching too, whenever you're like I've got the Internet.
- 7:42Well, you gotta be like pushing up your glasses.
- 7:44Like you're like shoving your sizes.
- 7:46Yeah, exactly. Yeah.
- 7:47Like. Yeah, OK.
- 7:48God, we're stupid. This is weird.
- 7:50OK. We are recording so out of our
- 7:52normal schedule. Things are weird right now.
- 7:53Guys, it's fine. It's not fine.
- 7:56No, we're actually gonna be taking a break to go eat dinner.
- 7:58Yeah, between this right here. Hurry.
- 8:00Let's go. I gotta go pick up food.
- 8:03Next was a new one, and it's one I wanted to watch for a while.
- 8:05Attacking the killer Donuts. But I wish the whole movie was
- 8:09like a couple of really great scenes.
- 8:13It seems like a premise that they just probably didn't have
- 8:17the budget to carry through the way that would have been.
- 8:20I I think that they made it how they wanted to.
- 8:25If I were to guess, I thought that they were going for
- 8:27intentionally stupid. Oh no, I those intentionally
- 8:31stupid scenes, like where the Donuts are eating people, those
- 8:33are fucking amazing. I like, I just wish that there
- 8:37were more scenes that were like a little bit more over the top
- 8:41because you have those really great moments.
- 8:43But then I feel like the rest of it, like the pacing is just a
- 8:47little bit. Off.
- 8:48Yeah, a little bit. It felt like a full moon movie.
- 8:50Yeah, to me. Yeah, big.
- 8:52Time. Yeah, I could see that.
- 8:53It's got kind of like that, the ginger dead man like.
- 8:56Yeah, yeah, to it. Yeah.
- 8:59All right. And then finally we wrapped up
- 9:02where we currently are with my new pic which was Hatchet 3.
- 9:05We had never seen that one. Actually, we did start watching
- 9:09it together one time. I made it a lot further in there
- 9:11than I really realized when we were watching it last night.
- 9:14I've seen about half of it. You fell asleep almost
- 9:16immediately. Yeah, I was going to say I must
- 9:17watch it falling asleep right away.
- 9:18Not because it wasn't good, but because it was late at night.
- 9:21Yeah, actually 90% of these movies we've been talking about,
- 9:24we fell asleep. Yeah.
- 9:25Watching. Not all of them, yeah.
- 9:28But yeah, no, I, I liked it a lot.
- 9:30I thought it was really good. That's like the only one that's
- 9:33not directed by Adam Green. It feels like it's a franchise
- 9:36that, like, gets better as it goes.
- 9:37Like the more Adam Green gets into writing the characters and
- 9:41the stories, the more he likes. Yeah.
- 9:44Yeah, I like, I think they had a good spot with the first two,
- 9:49and they're all really good after that.
- 9:51Victor Crowley is kind of like by itself for me, for whatever
- 9:54weird reason. That is weird.
- 9:57I love it. Victor Crowley is the reason
- 9:58that I was willing to give the first hatchet another chance.
- 10:01Victor Crowley's good. I like it.
- 10:02It's just there's something I guess.
- 10:04Because it's not like in the same like weekend.
- 10:09I guess it's part of it. Yeah.
- 10:10No, no, no. I'll have to watch them all
- 10:12again soon. All right?
- 10:14All right. So that's where we are with our
- 10:15screen. Screen.
- 10:16So we'll update with the remaining 6 movies whenever we
- 10:21return. Yep, next.
- 10:23Week. All right.
- 10:25And I don't have balls. I'm sorry again, two weeks in a
- 10:29row, I'm kind of dropping the ball there.
- 10:30But we've we've been busy, that's what.
- 10:32It's like around Halloween. I think it's historically been
- 10:34like this for us. And yeah, it's that plus all
- 10:37like personal stuff too that has gotten in the way.
- 10:40So I'm sorry if any of you actually enjoy those.
- 10:43I don't know if anybody really cares about it or not.
- 10:45But I think some people have fun, like debating.
- 10:47I hope so. We see.
- 10:48Some good, some good contributions.
- 10:50But if not, we're getting right to the meat of it.
- 10:53If you know that's what you prefer.
- 10:55So right. Time to get get to the facts.
- 10:57Let's do it show. Me the facts.
- 10:59You show me the facts. I'll show you the facts, okay?
- 11:02Okay. You wanna be weird about it?
- 11:04Okay, So trick or treat? Its initial premiere was
- 11:11December 9th, 2007 at the Butt Nummathon Film Festival.
- 11:15Butt nummathon. Mm hmm, tell you hit her button
- 11:18up there. Yep, you.
- 11:19See that We said button nummathon?
- 11:22It's just a weird, it's weird December for that.
- 11:25It just doesn't feel right. Yeah, I can see that.
- 11:29I can see that. So with this movie, it actually
- 11:33got its first wider theatrical release on a limited run in
- 11:38October of 2022. Yeah, we were there.
- 11:41We were there. We were part of history, so we
- 11:44watched it on our DVD, but it's currently available to watch on
- 11:48Max, Philo, YouTube, Prime Time, YouTube TV Premium, Hulu
- 11:52Premium, Prime Premium, Sling TV Premium, or you can rent it from
- 11:55Google Play or Fandango at home. There's a new Aero 4K that you
- 11:59just came out too, which is pretty fucking sweet.
- 12:03That's awesome. Yeah, well, I'm jealous.
- 12:05I wish we had it but. Very excited about that.
- 12:08Yeah, me too. OK, so written and directed by
- 12:11Michael Doherty. Music by Douglas Pipes, love
- 12:14that name. Douglas Pipes.
- 12:16Whose profession is as a composer?
- 12:19I wish it was acapella. We're like on an organ.
- 12:22Or on an organ? Yes, or bagpipes.
- 12:25We're like a pan flute. Or pan flute.
- 12:28Or all of them just. The possibility oldies are
- 12:32endless. Great career choice, Douglas.
- 12:35What do you name that band? Just pipes.
- 12:36Just pipes. Just pipes.
- 12:38That's that's what I want my acapella groups to be called.
- 12:41Just pipes, yeah. OK, special effects makeup.
- 12:45The head of the department was Bill Terzakis.
- 12:49OK. Starring Quinn Lord as Sam and
- 12:52Peeping Tommy, Peeping Tommy is the little boy in the costume
- 12:56shop who's over listening. Oh really?
- 12:59Same kid? Wow.
- 13:00OK, Dylan Baker is Steven Wilcox, Anna Paquin is Lori,
- 13:04Lauren Lee Smith is Danielle, Sam Todd is Rhonda and Brian Cox
- 13:09as Mr. Krieg. Yeah, Travis, time for our
- 13:12favorite game budget. Or bug Ted.
- 13:17This strikes me as high bug Ted. Wrong.
- 13:22Budget. Low budget.
- 13:24No shit. How much?
- 13:2512 mil Wow I know, good for them right?
- 13:30This it just makes me question why they pushed it straight to
- 13:36DVD. I don't have an answer for that,
- 13:39but that wasn't the original plan.
- 13:42Oh, no, no. OK, well then let's get into it.
- 13:44What did it do? Gross, though we do have that
- 13:46now. Right.
- 13:47Well, no, not really. I don't have an opening box
- 13:51office and the only worldwide gross I have is 1.1000 which I
- 13:55feel like is probably not correct.
- 13:57No. Even though it's run was limited
- 13:59a couple years ago, I feel like it probably should have grossed
- 14:02more than that. So I think the data I was
- 14:04looking at just wasn't up to date.
- 14:06Yeah, it's got to be the case because it's grown into like a
- 14:09cult favorite. Yeah, there was a audience for
- 14:12that there. That amount doesn't even feel
- 14:14correct for like home sales. Yeah.
- 14:16So yeah, it's not. Yeah.
- 14:17So that's, that's a bit weird. I I want to I I don't fully
- 14:22trust those numbers. Yeah, I want the real numbers.
- 14:24That's what I have. I I have another number for you
- 14:27though. OK, It's an IMDb score.
- 14:29Oh, I. Bet it's high. 6.7.
- 14:31Hey, that's really. Good yes very happy to see the
- 14:34scores like that. For a little cult classic like
- 14:35this. I did pull 3 movies from 2007
- 14:41and I picked a theme. OK, the theme is follow the
- 14:44fucking rules. Follow the fucking rules.
- 14:47Perfect. Hold on.
- 14:50OK, I saw. It's gotta be in there.
- 14:52Yeah. Yeah.
- 14:55Do you remember which one? Yeah, that would be 675. 4.
- 15:11Oh yeah, saw 3D was 2002. Yep, Yep.
- 15:15Saw Four released October 26th, 2007.
- 15:19Budget of 10 million, worldwide gross of 139 million, and an
- 15:23IMDb score of 5.9 out of 10. If you don't remember which one
- 15:27Saw 4 is first of all, you can listen to all of our SAW
- 15:30coverage. Yeah, but second of all, it's
- 15:33the one immediately after. Slow ass motherfucking Jeff had
- 15:36three hours to get through a single warehouse and Detective
- 15:40Rig had 45 minutes to make his way through the city of
- 15:43Sawville. That's it.
- 15:44Yeah, that's the one with the rig running around town.
- 15:47Yep, Yep. OK, Second movie.
- 15:50So obviously follow the rules and saw.
- 15:52Makes sense. Yes, right.
- 15:53Yeah. Second movie, Paranormal
- 15:55Activity. The rules of paranormal.
- 15:59Yeah, don't. Don't fuck with the Ouija.
- 16:01Board. Yes, exactly, Mika.
- 16:03OK. So that premiered at Screamfest
- 16:06Film Festival on October 14th, 2007.
- 16:11Budget of 15,000, worldwide gross of 130 a 193,000,000.
- 16:15Till as old as time. That's how we got bum house
- 16:18films. That is, yeah.
- 16:21IMDb score of 6.3 out of 10. Yeah, it's still a good movie.
- 16:25Hey, what's up? OK, the last one.
- 16:29OK. Stuck.
- 16:33Man, what's the rules for that? Don't drive drunk.
- 16:37I thought you were going to say look both ways before you cross
- 16:38the street. I'm not about victim blaming
- 16:41here. But it's true.
- 16:45It's not. I'm not blaming her for getting
- 16:47stuck in the person's windshield.
- 16:50It was a man that got stuck. Oh yeah, I don't blame him for
- 16:54getting stuck in the woman's windshield.
- 16:56It's just that's the rule you that that's instilled in you as
- 17:00a kid. It should also be insulted in
- 17:03you as a kid not to drink and drive.
- 17:06That's true too. Yeah, and also not try and hide
- 17:11A catastrophic accident by bringing the car with the body
- 17:15still attached into your garage. She slowly bleeds out.
- 17:18God. Very good movie, very upsetting,
- 17:22very real story. Yes, the whole thing is really
- 17:25fucked up and really tragic. I think I remember John
- 17:29Dunsworth. Jim Leahy's in that, too.
- 17:32Yes, cuz I'm pretty sure it was a fairly Canadian film.
- 17:35It is absolutely. So that premiered at the Fantasy
- 17:39Film Festival on August 1st, 2007.
- 17:43Budget of 5 million worldwide Gross of 151,000.
- 17:47IMDb score 6.5 out of 10. Oh, that's good.
- 17:50I didn't expect it to be that. I yeah, I liked it a lot.
- 17:53It's on Shudder if anybody wants to watch it.
- 17:55Yes it is, and like I said, it's a good movie.
- 17:58It is one fuck of a bummer though.
- 18:01Actually, they, I remember they kind of turned into like a dark
- 18:05comedy. Yes they do, but that I have
- 18:09weird feelings about. I have weird feelings about the
- 18:11true crime stuff in general. Yeah, true.
- 18:14And I don't know, the whole thing is just really messed up.
- 18:17It is it's it's a good. Movie.
- 18:18Yeah. Yeah, it is OK.
- 18:22OK, so now it's time for tagline.
- 18:25All right. And I was losing my mind writing
- 18:28these down because I was like, I swear we have talked about these
- 18:31before. I don't remember the context
- 18:32that we might have talked about these are.
- 18:35They like generic that they could apply to a lot of movies.
- 18:39This first one. Poison, drowning claw or knife.
- 18:42So many ways to take a life. Whoa, I like that.
- 18:46We definitely talked about it. Maybe it was on like one of our
- 18:49bonus episodes for Patreon, like a tagline game.
- 18:53We did do one of those, yeah. It could be.
- 18:56I don't know that. Stuck out to me so much.
- 18:58But yes, so many ways to take a knife.
- 19:01We do have poison, we do have drowning, we do have clows and
- 19:06we do have knives. So.
- 19:07Who drowns? The kids.
- 19:10They don't. Oh, yeah.
- 19:12And the flashback. Yeah, yeah.
- 19:13OK, Yeah. If you don't follow the rules
- 19:17tonight, you won't live to see you tomorrow.
- 19:19Nay, that's true. I here's the thing though, is
- 19:24that with that for some reason I went learn your.
- 19:26Rules. You better learn your rules.
- 19:29If you don't, you'll get eaten in your sleep.
- 19:32It's eaten in your sleep. I like I combined one of his
- 19:38other interests into it. Better watch out.
- 19:42I'm telling you why Sam's coming to town.
- 19:56That was so anticlimactic. I want.
- 19:59To see how beautiful your. Sound waves.
- 20:02Oh, it just like reflects how I have a weird like where I laugh
- 20:07the cow. I'm kind of like the cow when I
- 20:09laugh. Yeah, it was like a it's like,
- 20:15hey, can we maybe make it sound like a Christmas Jingle and the
- 20:18other person's like, how's that? One go.
- 20:21Yeah, don't. Cry Sam, we'll be here.
- 20:25Like they, like, bust down Michael Doherty's door.
- 20:28Like we got it, it's going in December.
- 20:32Get a new tagline now. Now.
- 20:39We're like, it's, you know how sometimes you wake up in the
- 20:41middle of the night, you have to make a note to yourself, but
- 20:44it's like barely legible? I love that tag.
- 20:49I'm so fucking dumb. I just like you sound like I.
- 20:54It's like you read it. So disappointed.
- 20:56Thank you, this is so funny. Well, because I knew ahead of
- 21:01time it wasn't going to fit the cadence of the song, so I was
- 21:03really trying to keep myself from doing that.
- 21:07My God that was awesome man. Was that?
- 21:10Is that the last one you said? No, unfortunately we're not
- 21:13ending on the. High shit, OK.
- 21:16They were started to protect us. OK.
- 21:24The rules, I take it? Yes.
- 21:26OK. Yeah, Yeah, OK.
- 21:30I got a few fun facts. OK, a handful.
- 21:32So there's a precursor to this movie, and it's a short animated
- 21:36film called Season's Greetings, and it follows young Sam being
- 21:40stalked on Halloween. Oh wow, an animated film?
- 21:43Really. Yeah, so he, like Michael
- 21:46Doherty. He's honestly, he's kind of a
- 21:48nerd, like about comic books and stuff.
- 21:51He's also worked on the X-Men franchise.
- 21:53Yeah, I noticed that comics were, I mean, they're kind of a
- 21:56thing in this right here, too. Yeah.
- 21:57Yes, the Halloween school bus massacre initially was supposed
- 22:01to take place in a graveyard instead of down by a lake in a
- 22:05quarry, and it was gonna be that the kids were luring the girl to
- 22:09play with them. But it turns out all of them
- 22:11were dead all along. That's kind of cool too.
- 22:14That he felt that that trope was kind of like overplayed at that
- 22:18point, so they ended up going with a different direction.
- 22:23I like that. Yeah.
- 22:24I like the story we end up getting for the kids.
- 22:26It's like, it's tragic, but also.
- 22:29It's tragic, but it also comes back to the whole point of like,
- 22:32respecting the traditions and why they exist in the first
- 22:36place. Also they have some of my
- 22:39favorite masks. Like that's like the cool kid
- 22:42mask bust right there. It's like they were too cool for
- 22:47all the other kids with their masks.
- 22:48Sort of like we gotta like isolate.
- 22:49Them the one, the paper bag with the realistic teeth on it?
- 22:52Yeah, it's like he was there before fuglers came around.
- 22:56Yeah, he was. He knew what was coming.
- 22:57Yeah. No, they were.
- 22:58They were really good. I like.
- 23:00Them Yeah, yeah. This was filmed in Vancouver, so
- 23:04we have another very Canadian movie originally planned in
- 23:08October 2007 release date, but in September 2007 it was
- 23:13announced it was going to be pushed back after it ran through
- 23:16the festival circuit. It ended up being released to
- 23:19home DVD instead of having a theatrical run.
- 23:22That's crazy. So that that tells me that it
- 23:24didn't impress in the the festival run.
- 23:28I like, I, I have no clue. I didn't get anymore because
- 23:31this is all from an interview with Michael Doherty with the
- 23:34Nerdist. So he didn't like clarify
- 23:38anymore, just that he was really bummed out it didn't get a
- 23:41theatrical run back in the day. That's a testament to how good
- 23:44this movie is, though. How like it's?
- 23:47It's staying power, people are still talking about it and it
- 23:49was enough that like it got a run 15 years later despite never
- 23:56having an initial run and people showed up for.
- 23:59It not only that, I mean when we were visiting like my parents
- 24:05this weekend, we had our nephews there and they were playing Call
- 24:07of Duty. Sam is a character in Call of
- 24:09Duty right now. That's.
- 24:11It's wild. It was cool.
- 24:13I was like, oh dude, that's Sam. Like I'm like, I had something
- 24:17of his. I don't know.
- 24:17I was like, that's fucking awesome.
- 24:19Like, I can't believe that they actually have him in that.
- 24:21That's the big thing. He's like he's become a
- 24:23Halloween icon. Yes, absolutely.
- 24:26And you'll you'll see multiple Sam's every year at Scarefest.
- 24:29Yeah. So if you're curious why this
- 24:33particular one was set in Ohio and it was because Ohio quote
- 24:38couldn't be more normal in both good and bad ways.
- 24:43And that's just how we're going to start describing Ohio from
- 24:46that one. You know, if I were, I wouldn't
- 24:49be mad about that. You could be someone of the
- 24:52other states to get shit on all the time.
- 24:54I'm not going to shit on them just because I don't want to
- 24:56shit on them. So he decided that Sam
- 25:00absolutely had to be played by a child.
- 25:02Because of the way children move, there's like a freeness, a
- 25:05looseness, a floppiness to them. Also, aren't fully developed, so
- 25:10there's something unique about that.
- 25:11Yes, exactly. And this was at the point in the
- 25:14interview when an interviewer was asking, you know, why not
- 25:17hire a little person actor, you know, And he's like, well, we
- 25:20did for the stunts because we wanted to keep Sam's safety or
- 25:23the kids, Quinn's safety in mind at all times.
- 25:28But, you know, ultimately he had to have like that little kid
- 25:31movement about him. So it was very important for him
- 25:33to be there for and he was there for like 90% of it.
- 25:36OK, that's good. Yeah, that's cool.
- 25:38That's a nice detail. So he sees all of the
- 25:41merchandising and licensing requests like all of that stuff
- 25:43goes through him. So if you see licensed,
- 25:45officially licensed trick or treat stuff out there, it's
- 25:50because he has signed off on it. And he said his favorite, or one
- 25:54of his favorite, is the Spirit Halloween dog costume.
- 25:58Dude, we saw that last year. Yeah, that's so cool.
- 26:02I like that. Yeah, he's all over Spirit
- 26:04Halloween right now. I've saw those costumes out
- 26:07there and. Then one final thing, he wanted
- 26:10to show like the different celebrations that are available
- 26:14for Halloween and how we celebrate them at our different
- 26:17stages in life, which is why you see like those different ages
- 26:20all throughout this. You know, we've got the kids,
- 26:22we've got the young adults, we've got the middle-aged adults
- 26:24who got the older adults. You've got all of that.
- 26:28And he said something he would like to explore if any sequels
- 26:31were to come about is in different locations because he's
- 26:34like, you know, a celebration in Ohio is going to be very
- 26:37different than say, like New York City or like even a
- 26:41completely different one country, for example, like.
- 26:44Yeah, Yeah. That's true.
- 26:46That's actually really interesting.
- 26:47I never picked up on that before.
- 26:49Yeah, when he said that or when he said that, when I read that,
- 26:52I was like, wow, that makes a lot of sense, actually thinking
- 26:55about the different stories we're getting.
- 26:57And I feel like that's part of the reason why this, like, has
- 27:00such a cozy feel to it for a Halloween movie, because you're
- 27:03like, you can relate two points of it at any point in your life.
- 27:08Yes. Yeah, that's really awesome.
- 27:10Yeah, that's what a smart way to do that.
- 27:12Yeah, for sure. So yeah, those are my fun facts.
- 27:15Cool. That was really cool.
- 27:17Yeah, I especially liked the thing about the dog.
- 27:20Yeah, me too. OK, so you know what that.
- 27:24Means good, bad, ugly and absurd.
- 27:26Yep, and you kick it off house. All right, well, this movie is.
- 27:33It's just, it's so good at capturing the vibe of this time
- 27:38of year. You get the like the fall feel
- 27:41of it right there. I love Sam as a character.
- 27:45I love having this little tiny killer that like his weapons are
- 27:50also related to the holiday. Like he's got candy that he got
- 27:53from trick or treating and it's a pumpkin and he just takes a
- 27:55bite of it and it's his fucking knife now.
- 27:58Yes, that's so creative. Anthology movies don't normally
- 28:03flow this well, but this movie is so well put together.
- 28:09Like you have so many different stories going on simultaneously.
- 28:13Like it's not like it's taken its turn.
- 28:14Like here's this story and then here's this story.
- 28:16You're getting pieces of each story in all of the other
- 28:19stories. So you're like.
- 28:20And it would be hard to call any one of them a wrap around,
- 28:22really, Yeah, because the closest would be like Emma and
- 28:25Henry at the beginning because they, but they just kind of like
- 28:28pop up in between yeah, segments.
- 28:29Yeah, that's true. But yeah, like, I think that's
- 28:32really that's, that's like a testament to how well written it
- 28:36is because it's just like constantly moving and like
- 28:40there's always somebody from one of the other stories going on
- 28:44that's like in the other person's stories too.
- 28:47So everything is like really well connected.
- 28:49It's really well told, comes together perfectly in the end.
- 28:56I don't know, I like it. It's just like a fun movie, man.
- 28:58Like I remember watching it back whenever like I had to rent this
- 29:01thing on like the Netflix DVD service and I was blown away
- 29:05with it by. Yes, kids, Once Upon a time,
- 29:07Netflix was a host for physical media.
- 29:11Yeah, I remember my mind was blown whenever they started
- 29:14streaming shows. Like you can do that.
- 29:16Like this won't last, yeah. I was super on board with it,
- 29:20but yeah, no, it's really cool. Like, I don't know, this is a
- 29:23special movie. It obviously does a good job
- 29:26catching people's just capturing the spirit everybody can relate
- 29:31to. Like we said, it's just it's
- 29:33really well told. It's not scary, but I don't feel
- 29:37like this is, this is a good one that you can show to your
- 29:39family. Like I want to show this to the
- 29:42children in our family because I feel like that's a good one to
- 29:47like welcome them into this type of thing because it doesn't go
- 29:51hard. There are some scenes like when
- 29:55we get the adult stories, yes, we get some porn playing in one
- 29:58of them in fact, but not too bad.
- 30:02Other than that, everything. Yeah, nothing as intense as
- 30:05you're gonna see in other adult level horror movies.
- 30:10This is a good like gateway movie for for kids.
- 30:13It's also a good one to like, introduce, like the respect of
- 30:16the holiday. Like motherfuckers, This is why
- 30:18you should respect Halloween. This is why Halloween's awesome.
- 30:21Yeah, It isn't just about like, I mean, obviously the candy is
- 30:24great and awesome, but it's really cool to know where these
- 30:26traditions come from and like have a little bit of respect for
- 30:29that. Yeah.
- 30:31So yeah, that's my good stuff. What about you?
- 30:33My God, I just think it's such a watchable movie.
- 30:36Like it's so much fun and it's so rewatch able as well because
- 30:40there's something new that you find every single time.
- 30:42Yeah, you pointed out to me. I think it was the howling.
- 30:46Yeah, that happens when they're going down the elevator.
- 30:50Yeah, I never picked it up that that was the the werewolf's.
- 30:55Yeah. Yeah, that was so cool.
- 30:57Yeah, I I really do pick up something new just about every
- 30:59single time I watch this. Yes, I think the cast is
- 31:03phenomenal. I didn't even list like all of
- 31:05them, but like Emma, just the the robot lady who's grumpy
- 31:08about her decorations, that's Leslie Bibb.
- 31:10That's a known name. You know what I mean?
- 31:13Like who's Leslie Bibb? She's been hold on, I believe.
- 31:17Is it with a girl in the opening?
- 31:18Yeah, she did look familiar to me.
- 31:23So did the guy, too. The guy kind of looked like a
- 31:25discount Michael Fassbender. She's been an Iron Man, law
- 31:31abiding citizen. She's going to be in the new
- 31:33season of The White Lotus. So she's been, she's been in
- 31:38quite a few things, yes. Like I saw that and I was like,
- 31:40oh shit, I know that name. Cool.
- 31:42Yeah. I think the werewolf
- 31:45transformation scenes is like one of the tops in film history.
- 31:51It's really good. It's and it's not even just like
- 31:54the effects, although I do think the effects are cool.
- 31:56The way they get those different mid transformation shots.
- 31:59I think that's a really important piece in any werewolf
- 32:01transformation scene is to get the mid transformation shots.
- 32:04It's a key to it, really, to making a good one.
- 32:07Because werewolf movies are part creature, feature part body
- 32:10horror. Yeah, but it.
- 32:13It's also like the way the whole thing is shot, you're getting a
- 32:17whole group of them changing together.
- 32:21Fuck, Marilyn Manson is a person.
- 32:23But that, that needle drop there just works for me.
- 32:28And like Anna Paquin just like getting to be like, yeah, I'm
- 32:33not the damsel in stress here. And I just, I fucking love that
- 32:37scene. I get goosebumps every time.
- 32:39I also really liked how they made her Little Red Riding Hood.
- 32:42It took me. More watches than I could,
- 32:45really. To admit.
- 32:46To catch on to like when her sister's like, it's tradition.
- 32:49Like I was like, oh, that's stupid.
- 32:50Yeah, I thought it was. Really cool, yeah.
- 32:53And that's another thing that their story is a lot more fun,
- 32:56like watching it back for like little, their double entendres
- 32:59throughout knowing that. You know.
- 33:01Yeah, yeah. So I just and the way the
- 33:05stories, like some of them have like a big impact on each other.
- 33:09Some of them don't really have much of an impact.
- 33:11They just cross paths at some point, which is very much like
- 33:15life. Yeah.
- 33:17So I think that that's really cool, and it's just an
- 33:19interesting way to tell an anthology story without it
- 33:22being, like you said, one then the other, then the other, then
- 33:24the other. Yeah, yeah, that takes some
- 33:26creativity to get it like that. Yeah, you have to be good at
- 33:29storytelling. Yeah, for sure.
- 33:30Yeah. Alright.
- 33:32Bad. Oh man, bad.
- 33:38God, this is a hard one for me to say anything bad about.
- 33:41That's because it does so many things.
- 33:43Well, I think it could have been interesting to have some more
- 33:50variety with the types of stories that they told, because
- 33:52they were all kind of like classic monster stuff.
- 33:57You know what I mean? You got vampires, werewolves and
- 34:00zombies. OK.
- 34:02Yeah, I think it would have been cool to have a grounded 1 like
- 34:04you know, you like a killer, which you mean you kind of do
- 34:06with the vampire one, but. I mean, I feel like that's.
- 34:09Yeah, I was going to say Steve Wilcox, like his.
- 34:12It's kind of like a killer, but he's also just a vampire.
- 34:15Or is he not? No, he's not.
- 34:16Really. A vampire.
- 34:17Yeah, I guess that's true. They will.
- 34:18He's just a serial killer. Yeah, but they play it as a
- 34:21vampire movie until the reveal of Yeah, him.
- 34:25Yeah, but like we've already seen.
- 34:26Him like actually just killing people and we know that he's
- 34:28been raising his son to do the same yeah see, I'm.
- 34:32I'm not a monster movie guy, it's just not my thing, despite
- 34:38doing scary fest trivia and getting monster for my category
- 34:41every single time. You could have been like the
- 34:43one. Guy that got zombie every single
- 34:45question. I would have gotten those
- 34:46though. Because I like zombies.
- 34:48But the yeah, it's just. I I think it could have been
- 34:51cool to have more variety. I think like a ghost even could
- 34:54have been cool. Yeah, it would be fun to see.
- 34:56And I, I feel though I guess with Sam you get.
- 35:00The little like slasher icon story there too.
- 35:03But. And like, he's maybe a ghost.
- 35:06Sure. I guess.
- 35:07I don't know, but I'm thinking more traditional ghosts.
- 35:10OK, Yeah, I don't know. I mean, there's really, it's
- 35:12just like, if I'm going to say anything bad about this movie,
- 35:15I'm just being nitpicky, honestly.
- 35:18Yeah. Yeah, honestly, I'd say probably
- 35:22like, not that I don't want them to have the creature feature
- 35:28like iconic monster representation.
- 35:31It just really just makes me want more, want more, you know?
- 35:34What I mean like all of. The different possibilities
- 35:37'cause I didn't even make the connection before, like what you
- 35:39were saying about like, oh, we've got vampires and
- 35:42werewolves and zombies. Like he hit.
- 35:45The big one. So I think it would be fun to
- 35:48see different. Yeah, different.
- 35:51Things, yeah, that would be cool if there they were to do a
- 35:54sequel, yeah, like maybe touch on those.
- 35:57Yeah, that would be interesting. Ugly, ugly.
- 36:03Well, well, well, well, well, well, well, I guess probably the
- 36:08principal poisoning the kids candies.
- 36:10Yeah, that's kind of fucked up. I don't think he was
- 36:13specifically targeting the kid that dies on his steps, but he
- 36:18wasn't not targeting. Him he wasn't not but.
- 36:21You also got to think how many kids died that night.
- 36:25Like did. Like, yeah, you see the little
- 36:28one. Still handing out candy whenever
- 36:30he dies. Yeah.
- 36:32So, I mean, like, he's like, it's being distributed.
- 36:34Yeah. Yeah, it's that and.
- 36:37Also just the motherfucking and also like he goes out and he
- 36:39like. Actually bites a human woman.
- 36:41Yeah. Yeah, he does.
- 36:43Several bad enough. To make her like.
- 36:45Pool blood. Yeah.
- 36:47Like it's. Bad enough to make me think,
- 36:48damn that was actually a vampire.
- 36:51The only other thing I'll say is the fucking disrespect of
- 36:54Halloween. Every single story deals with a
- 36:57little bit of disrespect. Oh, OK.
- 37:00Yeah, I was like, how is this being disrespectful?
- 37:02I I see what you mean. It's not characters
- 37:03disrespecting. Yeah.
- 37:04Not they didn't. Do a bad job.
- 37:06They did a great job honoring it with the movie, but the
- 37:08characters themselves are being shitty.
- 37:10Yes yes yes. Except for maybe.
- 37:12The werewolves, I think that this might be their jam.
- 37:15Like Chanel, Oberlin. Halloween is my jam.
- 37:19Yeah, they're not killing. Good people, Jesse, or bad
- 37:23people they were killing. Steve Wilcox.
- 37:26He's a bad person, him and then the guy that's.
- 37:28Just the costume guy that got invited out by a pretty girl to
- 37:31go to a party. I do feel bad for him.
- 37:33He he seemed nice. Yeah, it just seemed like they
- 37:35kind of wanted. Us to think of like Randy Meeks
- 37:39with him, yeah. Maybe I got those vibes.
- 37:42I could see it. OK, what's your ugly?
- 37:45The very. Classic middle school bullying
- 37:48that they do of Rhonda. Oh yeah.
- 37:50I. Terrible flashbacks.
- 37:54Just what a bad time, yeah. Well, she gets the last laugh.
- 38:00She does, in fact. And.
- 38:02I'm very happy for her for that, but you know, that night is just
- 38:06going to be full of all kinds of trauma for her.
- 38:09She seems OK. Maybe she's just processing it
- 38:12at the end of the movie. Yeah.
- 38:13OK, absurd. Oh.
- 38:17Man. God.
- 38:18I didn't make my list this times.
- 38:19I like that the kid is dressed as his dad at the end of the
- 38:25movie for Halloween. Yeah, I thought that that was
- 38:28really funny. I also think it's really fucking
- 38:31absurd that the woman is trying to take down her Halloween
- 38:33decorations after coming home at night drunk on Halloween night
- 38:37where they're supposed to be at their most display.
- 38:40This is mine. This is my.
- 38:42Absurd because not only they're drunk, it's Halloween night,
- 38:46kids are still out trick or treating, but they put a lot of
- 38:49fucking effort into that display.
- 38:51SO1. Why would you take it down on
- 38:53Halloween 2? That shit like we know from
- 38:57experience, like it's a process taking that stuff down.
- 39:00Why are you going to do that in the middle of the night?
- 39:02You know those sheets are going to be damp and gross.
- 39:05Is it really funny that she's? Like, let me do this real quick,
- 39:08and then I'll come in there, put the tape on, we'll have some
- 39:11sex, and then, like, he goes up there.
- 39:14But that amount of shit that's in the yard, that's gonna take
- 39:17an hour. That's gonna take two hours.
- 39:19Yeah, especially by herself. He's gonna like, finish.
- 39:22Up there by himself and just be. No, he immediately fell asleep.
- 39:26He. Immediately fell asleep.
- 39:28He was awake. No, he.
- 39:29Was asleep, he. Woke up.
- 39:30He only woke up because the static came at the end of the
- 39:32tape, not him. OK, true.
- 39:36So, yeah, so we're in agreement with the absurd there.
- 39:40OK, All right. It's a time to rate it Yes.
- 39:43Well, just do like a nine and a half you.
- 39:49Doing full ten, yeah, yeah, that was awkward.
- 39:54All right. So I guess we was three average
- 39:58of 9.75. Well.
- 40:01Swaney put me up the 10. I didn't think I was going to
- 40:04have to. I'm not adequately prepared for
- 40:06this. Well, see, The thing is, I was.
- 40:07Thinking about, I was like, you know what, I kind of do want
- 40:10some more variety with the, I don't know, with the story types
- 40:13that we you talk to yourself into being.
- 40:15Grumpy about it. I'm not grumpy about it at all.
- 40:17I still love it. You're .5 grumpy about it.
- 40:20Make me a. Full.
- 40:21Make me complete and. What?
- 40:25That's never been said before. Make me complete and because I.
- 40:30I don't know that this is fully English.
- 40:33You decide, people. OK, let's get.
- 40:37Into this thing. It starts off with the trick or
- 40:41treat. Guideline.
- 40:41Yes, yes. Yeah, it's like a little
- 40:43opening. Snippet where the people are
- 40:45just like telling you the rules like this is what you need to do
- 40:48on trick or treat. I wrote trick or treat.
- 40:50Rules. And I couldn't tell if it meant
- 40:52like rules or like, yeah. Yeah, trick or treat.
- 40:55Yeah, that's actually. Good 3.
- 40:58Ways like trick or treat rules. So like the guidelines, trick or
- 41:02treat rules, this movie rules or trick or treating rules?
- 41:06Yes. Yeah.
- 41:07Which one is it? All three?
- 41:09All three. So a couple comes home.
- 41:12The wife, I believe her name is Emma, is really annoyed and she
- 41:16just, we never really get full resolution on why she's annoyed.
- 41:20It just seemed like she didn't like being around drunk people
- 41:23on Halloween, which if you're going out in public on
- 41:25Halloween, you're going to be around drunk people.
- 41:26To be fair, I think in a lot. Of the scenes that we see, they
- 41:29are like constantly bumping into people downtown, so I could see
- 41:33her getting annoyed at that. Maybe it was the costume that.
- 41:35She was annoyed about. I can see that too.
- 41:36They had. Very big costumes, Yeah,
- 41:39especially her. Like she had the.
- 41:41He's like a Teletubby. Yeah.
- 41:43So she wants to take down the decorations, but her husband's
- 41:47like, no, like, you know, there's rules about this.
- 41:50You got to the same as Henry. Henry.
- 41:51Yes. You got to keep this stuff up.
- 41:54It's like, you know, ancient tradition, warding off the
- 41:57spirits, confusing them, yadda, yadda, yadda.
- 41:59And she goes, listen, you're lit.
- 42:02I'm lit. The pumpkin doesn't need to be
- 42:03lit. Also, my mom's coming in the
- 42:06morning. You know how she feels about
- 42:08stuff like this. What?
- 42:09Halloween. Yeah.
- 42:10Decorations. What is?
- 42:11I don't know. Probably both, yeah.
- 42:13Sam's watching. From across the street, though,
- 42:15you can see like the little sack.
- 42:18Yeah, it's not. Really.
- 42:20It really works out that his holiday is Halloween, because
- 42:24that motherfucker's not blended in any other day of the year.
- 42:27Yeah, he's not. Got the.
- 42:29Incognito skills, no. And if you take a.
- 42:31Little sack off. It's just a pumpkin.
- 42:33So, yeah, yeah. All right, so, yeah, she.
- 42:36Begins tearing down the decorations outside while he
- 42:38goes up and puts on a porn tape. And I made one.
- 42:42Of my stupidest jokes of all time and I referred to them as
- 42:46diegetic nipples. Diegetic nipples.
- 42:48That's true, I forgot about that.
- 42:52So she's taking down the the decorations and you can tell
- 42:55something bad is gonna happen. And she's like, you know,
- 42:57pulling down sheets from like, these little scarecrow stands
- 43:02they have. There's like, fake body parts
- 43:03hanging from trees. She's just kind of pulling them
- 43:05at random and you just feel the sense of something bad is gonna
- 43:09happen and eventually she pulls down a sheet jumps scare from
- 43:13behind her. Okay, cool, it's all good.
- 43:16And then Sam jumps out from the box.
- 43:18Yeah, I was gonna say from. Yeah, the little thing.
- 43:20Yeah, a little. Distraction right there.
- 43:22Yeah, yeah. And then so.
- 43:24Henry wakes up. He is not satisfied at all,
- 43:27other than maybe having had a little catnap and feeling better
- 43:30about his prospects with his wife.
- 43:32So he goes to check on her, cannot see her, does not notice
- 43:36that the appendages hanging from the tree are now much better
- 43:40quality and are actually. Dripping blood.
- 43:43And eventually he pulls off a sheet and finds her head with a
- 43:46gigantic lollipop shoved in to it.
- 43:51So that's what we get. This is Warren Valley, Ohio
- 43:56earlier that night. I like this opening here.
- 43:59'Cause we get the kid. That is like Smashing Pumpkins,
- 44:03if you will. I wrote me the.
- 44:06Kid thinks he's Billy Corgan. Yeah, and.
- 44:09The entire time he's walking down the sidewalk, he's bumping
- 44:12into all the characters for the stories that we're about to
- 44:14watch. Yeah.
- 44:14So, like, we've got the news. Reporter that's talking about
- 44:16the parade of festival that's going on downtown, and Laurie
- 44:19and her pack are in the costume shop.
- 44:22They're talking to each other between the dressing rooms about
- 44:25their various Halloween exploits over the years, and little Quinn
- 44:30Lord's mom gets upset that they're using such vulgar
- 44:33language around her baby. Yep.
- 44:36And Lori is a bit reluctant to come out after they've all
- 44:40stepped out to show off their dresses.
- 44:42She Here's the. Thing their hair is already done
- 44:46perfectly to suit these costumes which a couple.
- 44:50Of them are just. Headbands.
- 44:51But Danielle's is an elaborate fucking updo, yeah.
- 44:56I don't know, man. Don't know what to tell you.
- 44:58Part of the costume. Costume.
- 45:00Magic costume. Magic, yeah.
- 45:02I wonder if it affects her fur. That's a good question.
- 45:08These are the types of questions.
- 45:09Where wolf movies really need to be answering if we're playing by
- 45:11Twilight. Rules.
- 45:13That's why they have to cut their hair.
- 45:14Short when they turn, yes, because otherwise they're just
- 45:17going to be like giant air. Them shaggy dogs, Yeah.
- 45:20Yeah. So yeah, they are.
- 45:24They're just talking to Rob, saying like, you know, you'll
- 45:27get the boys, don't worry about it.
- 45:28Like you just got to be confident.
- 45:30And then they're checking out. And then I can't remember the
- 45:33names of them, though. Danielle, that's the.
- 45:34Sister, she invites the cashier to be her date to the party.
- 45:38Yeah. So.
- 45:40Now we. See the principal's house, we
- 45:43see Charlie is the kid. Yes, he's the one.
- 45:46He's just like walking down the sidewalk.
- 45:47He's pushing over your pumpkins and he's being a little shit.
- 45:50And then he comes across Principal Wilkins house, who
- 45:54encourages him to come up to his steps and get his candy.
- 45:58Yeah, I think he like. Stole.
- 46:00Multiple things of candy, right? And then he was going to walk
- 46:04away with it. Yeah, he was going to be.
- 46:05Because Wilcox had left like a big bucket of candy on on the
- 46:11front porch and he was just gonna basically take all of it.
- 46:13Real Dick move. What happened to the honor
- 46:15system? This kid fucking sucks.
- 46:17So. He like saw some.
- 46:19He's like, well, first of all, Candy's not good for your
- 46:21diabetes, Charlie. Do you think?
- 46:26He actually knows that he probably does since he's the
- 46:29principal, but so that's what the fucking like.
- 46:31Yeah, that's brutal, man. Well, 'cause like I mean if the
- 46:34diabetes. Thing is real then he probably
- 46:36has to have like a signed note in like a prescription Yeah,
- 46:39you're right yeah like. Insulin or anything poor.
- 46:43Kid. So yeah, he's like.
- 46:45Also, he's supposed to only take one piece of candy, so he like,
- 46:47only hands him one candy bar. Yeah, so he eats the candy bar
- 46:52and he sits there and carbs a. Pumpkin while Charlie is eating
- 46:55it and he's talking about like the purpose of things like Jack
- 47:00O lanterns and he's like, you know they're there to protect
- 47:02us. They confuse the spirits.
- 47:04He's like, you know what another good tradition is?
- 47:08Check in your candy. Always check your candy.
- 47:10I. Dude he like like half of the
- 47:13candy bar is off and there's a fucking blade like a full on
- 47:16knife. It was like a box cutter inside
- 47:19the chocolate bar. Bro.
- 47:20Is Charlie just inhaling this? Yeah, dude, yeah.
- 47:24It's kind of like the night of the demons thing where the guy
- 47:26eats the apple. Yeah, full of all the razors.
- 47:28I said that. I said that on Friday night.
- 47:30I was like this is. A real good double feature for
- 47:32us. Yeah, you're right.
- 47:33Yeah, Yeah. So.
- 47:34Charlie just starts vomiting up blood and Jesse almost got sick
- 47:38from this. It's, yeah, it's the vomiting
- 47:40sound. I'm a sympathetic vomiter.
- 47:43It's a real problem in my life, yeah.
- 47:45So he just kills over, Yeah. And then so he is.
- 47:49Trying to bring Wilcox is trying to bring Charlie's body inside
- 47:52and trick or treaters appear while he is doing that and then
- 47:57some of the mean kids come up where Macy, Sarah and Chip and
- 48:03she asks. If.
- 48:04They can take one of his Jackal lanterns.
- 48:06It's a, it's a, what do they call it, I think, for UNICEF?
- 48:12No. What's the thing?
- 48:13Called I've got UNICEF written down.
- 48:14What's the thing where you look for a thing?
- 48:17You've got a list of things you need to find and you check
- 48:19scavenger hunt. Yes, that it's a.
- 48:21Scavenger. Hunt for UNICEF.
- 48:24I prefer she. Said it the way you said it.
- 48:26It's a thing where you find what you have need for UNICEF.
- 48:32Get it? Are we all on the same page?
- 48:34Do we? Do we get it?
- 48:35Do we get it? Meanwhile, Lori is still very
- 48:38nervous. She confesses she's virgin and
- 48:41wants her first time to be special.
- 48:42And it was like, Maria and Janet go talk to some of the cameramen
- 48:48and they're like, hey, come with us.
- 48:51And they tell her to play a little bit hard to get.
- 48:53So then she's left on her own, just kind of wandering around
- 48:56looking for a date and fuck her. She she could use some wing.
- 49:01Women. Yeah, she really does.
- 49:02That's what she needs. In this moment, yeah.
- 49:05Yeah. So Principal.
- 49:06Wilkins. Is it Wilkins?
- 49:08Wilkins. Yeah.
- 49:09Why have I been? Saying Wilcox.
- 49:11I wrote Wilcox on my notes. Jesus age.
- 49:14OK, it's definitely Wilkins. Check your sheet.
- 49:18I wrote. Wilcox.
- 49:19On my sheet. Am I wrong?
- 49:21No. Because I wrote Wilkins.
- 49:23On my notes. And I know my notes are right
- 49:25because I was writing those as I was hearing them.
- 49:27I was multitasking when I was writing by sheet last night.
- 49:32So Wilcox. Yeah.
- 49:34Wilkins. So Wilkins.
- 49:35Yeah. Steven Wilkins.
- 49:37Jesus, I'm sorry. Everybody that's been shouting
- 49:39at their whatever, they're listening on for the past 15
- 49:42minutes, you're sound device. Yeah.
- 49:44So, okay, Wilkins is dragging in the body of the kid and he's
- 49:49bringing them out into the backyard to bury him.
- 49:52Yep, on top of. Another body that's already in
- 49:54there. His son Billy is home.
- 49:56And I almost made this my alternate opening like, Daddy, I
- 50:01wanna go to the parade. Daddy, I'm gonna carve a.
- 50:04Jack O Lantern. Daddy, I wish mommy was still
- 50:07alive. Oh my God, this got dark right
- 50:09there. Yeah.
- 50:10So yeah, it's his son. He's like yelling from the
- 50:13upstairs. He's like, daddy, I thought we
- 50:15were going to carve pumpkins tonight.
- 50:17And he's like, I'll be in a minute, just.
- 50:19Watch Charlie Brown because Charlie Brown's an asshole.
- 50:23Then the neighbor's dog starts barking and he's trying to get
- 50:26him to stop because he doesn't, you know, want attention drawn.
- 50:29And then Mr. Creek comes out and he's all grumpy and yelling at
- 50:32Wilkins. Yeah, Wilkins through.
- 50:35The kids finger OK because he chopped it off with a shovel.
- 50:38Yeah, let's see then. He goes once he finishes up, he.
- 50:45Goes inside. He hears Krieg banging on his
- 50:49window, but he's still annoyed from him earlier, so he just.
- 50:53Like glares? And ignores yeah.
- 50:55And walks away. And then you see him get
- 50:57tackled. In the background and then he
- 50:59goes down to the basement. With Billy and he's got a knife
- 51:02behind his back and he comes up behind Billy and we just see him
- 51:07slam the knife down, but it's actually in Charlie's head and
- 51:12Billy. I.
- 51:13Almost feel like this kids dialogue was completely
- 51:15improvised and they're like just keep emphasizing that you need
- 51:18help with the eyes because he goes just.
- 51:21Make sure to help. Me with the eyes.
- 51:24We get kids trick or. Treating at Miss Henderson's
- 51:27house. I love that this is a scene
- 51:30alone that I find a new thing to look at every single time.
- 51:33So she's clearly a teacher at the school and she has invited
- 51:36other teachers such as Coach Taylor, and they're having a
- 51:39very. Cult of Dionysus.
- 51:47Kind of Halloween party. And she like, she's in Kitty cat
- 51:52lingerie and she's like, you wanna drink?
- 51:57And Sarah first is like, OK, I like Sarah.
- 52:01Yeah, I like that too. I haven't ridden as, let's see
- 52:05costume grinding hot dog butt. Fucking Coach Taylor was in a
- 52:10hot dog. Costume butt fucking a pig, yes.
- 52:15Yeah, that's so weird. Yeah, it's.
- 52:17I don't, I don't know. I'm.
- 52:20Speechless. And this isn't butt hugging.
- 52:22In a derogatory. Kind of way like he.
- 52:26Literally was like thrusting up against him and.
- 52:29It's a quote from the movie, yeah.
- 52:32Yeah, so that's there. There's like, I don't know, it's
- 52:35a wild kind of Halloween party. Yeah.
- 52:37It just feels like one of those like.
- 52:38Things that like that's going to scar the kids.
- 52:41Like I can't imagine like if I saw one of my teachers having
- 52:44one of those parties, I'm just like picturing being one of the.
- 52:46Extras that like, you hear about a movie being filmed, you get to
- 52:51be in a pretend, a Halloween party.
- 52:53Yeah, I'm thinking. Yeah.
- 52:56I want to sign up for that. And you get there and you find
- 52:59out you're doing an. Orgy.
- 53:03OK, at least they got my costumer.
- 53:06Yeah, got my hot dog. Yeah.
- 53:09OK, so. Then they stop and pick up
- 53:11Rhonda, who had all of the Jack O lanterns they needed.
- 53:15Yeah, holy shit, she's got like 20.
- 53:16In her front yard, all that she's carved herself.
- 53:19Very impressive. I truly.
- 53:21Here's the thing. I truly refuse to believe
- 53:24anybody's actually good at carving Jack O lanterns.
- 53:27I've never witnessed it personally.
- 53:29I only ever see it in like staged photos and movies.
- 53:34Yeah some. Sometimes it gets super
- 53:35elaborate. Yeah, like I just and we.
- 53:38Haven't done it together ever. Really.
- 53:41Because you're allergic? We can try.
- 53:44We tried it one. Time but.
- 53:46You got seeds everywhere, yeah. It just wasn't a good time.
- 53:49Yeah, the painting's. Better for us.
- 53:52It's just I just refuse to believe.
- 53:55I refuse to believe. It's tough.
- 53:57It's really tough. I've never.
- 53:58Had a good time doing it and if they do do it.
- 54:01Then I feel like maybe there's like special tools or something.
- 54:05Yeah, you definitely need. You can't do just like a.
- 54:06Standard kitchen knife that's not even those like fakey like.
- 54:10Walmart 497 Jacqueline and carving kit.
- 54:13Yeah, yeah, like I feel like you have to go like to the hobby
- 54:17store. Yeah, it's got to be special
- 54:19quality tools, all right. So.
- 54:23They are now heading towards. Well, first we stop.
- 54:28By the parade. Again, real quick, just to pop
- 54:29in, yes, we see a couple. Making out in.
- 54:32The alley And this character's name is Allie Yeah and I was
- 54:37like, is it because she died in an alley?
- 54:39I can't see any other reason why I.
- 54:41Would I love that? Yeah, I think that's.
- 54:43Perfect for you. So the man that is kissing.
- 54:45Her ends up biting her, and she's pooling blood.
- 54:48And so she rushes to the crowd for help.
- 54:50And they all think that she's just drunk.
- 54:52And then he finishes her off and leaves her on the sidewalk.
- 54:55His decoration. Yeah.
- 54:56Just like I know you did last summer.
- 54:58Yeah, yeah. That's a pretty I.
- 55:00Like, you know, you're right. No, no, I realize that this is
- 55:02like a serial killer thing, like I've always thought of as a
- 55:05vampire thing because of the biting, but yeah, yeah, no, he's
- 55:08like straight up killing this person.
- 55:10What is Halloween like for you man?
- 55:12Like you just go outside and you're like, it's pretty
- 55:15terrifying. Yeah, you never know what's
- 55:18coming at you when our nephews jumped out at.
- 55:20You this weekend would be like oh man, real life killer clowns.
- 55:24Kiss, I'm dead. That was for them.
- 55:29OK, so now we get to the kids, they get to the quarry and they
- 55:33tell the legend of the Halloween school best massacre.
- 55:36I'm glad that you said it was a quarry.
- 55:38Because my no, I didn't know what to call it, so I called it
- 55:40an abandoned Cliff. I didn't know what else.
- 55:58Is that not right? Is that like?
- 56:01That's like the. Definition of quarry, I'm sure.
- 56:12Come on. So the.
- 56:13Kids get to the bed you. Think they acknowledge?
- 56:16It OK, fine, whatever actually the the school, the school bus.
- 56:30Halloween massacre, Yes, yes. So these are the kids.
- 56:33They have like a special school bus.
- 56:36They go to special education and they have.
- 56:40The coolest masks. They have the coolest.
- 56:42Masks. Yeah, as legend goes, the
- 56:45parents were very tired of them because they were expensive and
- 56:48embarrassing, which is really sucky.
- 56:52That's ugly. And ugly.
- 56:54Yeah, and unfortunately, I'm sure there are parents out there
- 56:58that would do this. Yeah, I.
- 57:00Always, kind of. Share.
- 57:01Those feelings, yes, and that's just really.
- 57:04Fucked up, Yeah, it's super fucked up.
- 57:06So they. All get together.
- 57:08And decide to scrape together whatever money they have and
- 57:12they pay the bus driver to one day drive the bus off the Cliff
- 57:18basically so he pulls up to the edge of the abandoned Cliff the.
- 57:24Abandoned Cliff, yes. Thank you.
- 57:26It's not abandoned yet. It's going to be abandoned after
- 57:28today. And he gives them.
- 57:32All a piece of candy, which is kind of fucking rude.
- 57:34See, they're chained up still. Like, yeah, they've got like,
- 57:39waist and wrist cuffs on. And so he's dropping the candy
- 57:45in their buckets. And he's like, it's clear.
- 57:47The plan is he's going to like, put it in neutral and let it go
- 57:50off the Cliff. But one of the kids is very
- 57:53distressed because the IT was not the correct turn.
- 57:57And yeah, he's saying wrong way, kid, you're so close to knowing
- 58:00the right franchise. Wrong turn.
- 58:03Wrong turn. That'd be us on the bus, yeah.
- 58:07Turn. Wrong turn.
- 58:09Gentle punch up, can you? Say wrong turn instead.
- 58:12But yeah, so he like shimmies. His hand out of the.
- 58:18Cuff in an uncomfortable way and then tries to drive the bus.
- 58:21It goes over the edge into the lake.
- 58:24And we do see that the driver makes its way out.
- 58:27So that's why they bring the Jack O lanterns there.
- 58:29It's one for each lost soul. And they're going to light them
- 58:32and leave them by the lake as it should be, Yeah.
- 58:36So. They.
- 58:37Start to go down the lift to the bottom of the quarry and the
- 58:41lift can only hold 3 safely. So Macy Schrader into Sarah are
- 58:47going to go down 1st and then they'll send the key up for Chip
- 58:51and Rhonda and the rest of the pumpkins.
- 58:54We get back to Lori real quick. She is wandering around, hasn't
- 58:59found any viable candidates because everybody's either gross
- 59:02or in a relationship. And then Danielle is like
- 59:06calling her. She's getting really worried,
- 59:09impatient. She says she found someone and
- 59:15where he says, is he hideous? And she's like, he's really
- 59:18young at heart. No, she's like, he's got a good.
- 59:21Personality. He's like, yeah, he's ugly.
- 59:24Yeah, yeah. Meanwhile, while that's.
- 59:25Happening. The Vampire Killer is eyeing
- 59:29her. Yes, back at the abandoned
- 59:32Cliff. They hear.
- 59:35They hear screams. As they're going down the lift
- 59:38and when they get to the bottom, Chip is too scared to go, so
- 59:42Rhonda says she'll go look. She'll check and make sure it's
- 59:44safe and tells him to keep the candles lit.
- 59:47When she gets to the edge of the lake, she finds the bus like
- 59:51poking out of it and the mass floating.
- 59:53Yes, yeah, you can see all. I can't believe all that stuff.
- 59:56Stayed there, right? Like there'd.
- 59:59Be like some sort of investigation.
- 1:00:00There'd be some sort of investigation and I'm going to
- 1:00:02be. Honest, if nothing else, the
- 1:00:03school district isn't going to want to lose the money from the
- 1:00:05bus. They're gonna.
- 1:00:06We can. We can save it.
- 1:00:08Exactly. And then like the next.
- 1:00:09Kids that get on the bus room be like, wow, this thing is rank,
- 1:00:13but it's the one that the kids, yeah.
- 1:00:15Now we're on, so it's cool. So yeah.
- 1:00:18And. There's like, masks floating in
- 1:00:20the water, which is a creepy little touch.
- 1:00:23And then as she's looking around, she is attacked.
- 1:00:28So she's freaking out. She's running.
- 1:00:30As she's running, she finds Chip on the ground with his guts on
- 1:00:34the outside. She screams and she goes
- 1:00:36running. As she's running, she loses her
- 1:00:37glasses, which causes her to trip.
- 1:00:40And she falls over a ledge into some shallow water and knocks
- 1:00:45herself out, knocks herself out. And this is where we realize
- 1:00:48that it's all the kids just playing a prank on her.
- 1:00:50And when she comes to, she starts crying.
- 1:00:52She's really upset, scared, embarrassed.
- 1:00:55And Schrader starts comforting her.
- 1:00:57And then I wrote Mason see, as a bitch, which I don't feel good
- 1:01:00about calling a 13 year old a bitch, but you know, Yeah, yeah.
- 1:01:04It's like Mean Girls, yeah. You know you're a mean girl.
- 1:01:08You're a bitch, she is. Yeah, so instead Rhonda is just
- 1:01:14going to leave them. So she goes over to the lift and
- 1:01:16gets in it. And while that's happening,
- 1:01:18yeah, well, no 'cause Schrader takes.
- 1:01:20Her over to the lift and it's like you guys clean up all the
- 1:01:23shit down here. So as Macy, Chip and Sarah are
- 1:01:26collecting the pumpkins, Schrader and Rhonda hear screams
- 1:01:30and he goes to check on them and sees that they've all been
- 1:01:34attacked for real this time. But Rhonda doesn't believe him
- 1:01:37because duh. So she just goes up the lift.
- 1:01:41But we see the kids like from the massacre are like coming up
- 1:01:46on the shore and he gets attacked as well.
- 1:01:48She also probably couldn't see as well, so she couldn't.
- 1:01:50Judge if it was fake or not yeah.
- 1:01:51And when she gets to the top of the.
- 1:01:52Lift and she's still got her little lit J Echo Lantern.
- 1:01:55J Echo Lantern? What the fuck?
- 1:01:58She kind of passes by Sam. Sam's just like staying there.
- 1:02:01Yeah. He's like, oh man, you like the
- 1:02:03abandoned Cliff too? I do my.
- 1:02:05Best thinking. Here.
- 1:02:06Yeah, they look cool. Cool things happen to.
- 1:02:09You, yeah. So we see Lori being.
- 1:02:11Stalked some more and eventually attacked Danielle is still very,
- 1:02:18very worried. But then a body drops and the
- 1:02:24body. Is wearing her cloak.
- 1:02:27Uh oh, that's not good. Except when they flip it over,
- 1:02:30it's actually Wilkins. We're in the we're in the cloak,
- 1:02:33and with the fangs and the the masks.
- 1:02:36The vampire get up. Yeah.
- 1:02:39And Maria, one of the friends, comes up.
- 1:02:43Oh, I missed a line in this. OK, so he's like, begging for
- 1:02:47help. And when Lori appears, she's
- 1:02:48like, he tried to buy me, so, you know, I did my thing.
- 1:02:54And Daniels, like, alright, cool.
- 1:02:55Do you wanna go get a drink? Yeah, yeah.
- 1:02:57The party goes back. To normal, everybody.
- 1:02:59That was where it is like, OK, this is cool and like Wilkins is
- 1:03:02just on the ground, not having been the victim for the first
- 1:03:06time and he. Like looks at.
- 1:03:08Maria, one of the friends, comes over and she's like, I'm really
- 1:03:11glad you're hurt her first. And he's like, please help.
- 1:03:15That's so pathetic. And then?
- 1:03:18This is when we get the best werewolf transformation.
- 1:03:24Yeah, it's really sick. They do a.
- 1:03:25Good job with it. Like if you haven't seen this
- 1:03:28movie. At first of all watch the movie
- 1:03:30but second of all if you don't have time to watch the movie
- 1:03:31right now just go to YouTube and type in trick or treat werewolf
- 1:03:34scene. That would be a man.
- 1:03:36It's amazing do. You do you think?
- 1:03:38Wilkins. Killed his wife probably I I got
- 1:03:41the. Implication I feel like.
- 1:03:42That's the like. One that started his actual
- 1:03:45murder spree, probably. Like, he did it one night
- 1:03:48because he was just, like, really annoyed.
- 1:03:49And he's like, I wonder if I can.
- 1:03:50Yeah. And then he's like, oh, shit,
- 1:03:52I'm really good at this. It's pretty dark.
- 1:03:54Yeah. Yeah, so we see some kids trick
- 1:03:58or treating at Krieg's house and they get scared by his little
- 1:04:01duck spy who's in the costume. He's got like glow up eyes.
- 1:04:06He looks awesome. It reminds me there's this.
- 1:04:09Tumblr post of this Pitbull that's got like these little
- 1:04:12demon horns on. And he's staying with the with
- 1:04:15his pet parents mom. So his grandma yeah.
- 1:04:20And the person was like, my mom just sent me this picture of my
- 1:04:24dog who is helping her pass out candy and all of the trick or
- 1:04:27treaters are so scared of him and he's so sad and he's the
- 1:04:31saddest looking dog. I will look this up for you
- 1:04:34because it's just it breaks my heart every time and every time
- 1:04:37we do Halloween with time, I'm like, OK, she needs to look cute
- 1:04:40because I don't want kids to say she looks scary because it would
- 1:04:43break her heart. That's that's so.
- 1:04:45Sad, I don't really want to watch that.
- 1:04:48Show me the good stuff. Well, it's OK.
- 1:04:50Because everybody on the Internet was like.
- 1:04:51I would get so much candy from your dog.
- 1:04:55OK, so. So.
- 1:04:57Yeah, he he's living the dream. OK, look, I'm gonna tell you
- 1:05:01Craig made out to be this old grumpy dude here.
- 1:05:04But look, my man is here in his living room.
- 1:05:07Trick or treaters at his door. He's scaring them away.
- 1:05:10But that's spied doing that. But he's with this dog.
- 1:05:13Dog's dressed up, they got candy, they got movies on.
- 1:05:17That's the fucking lie. Yeah, this is the face.
- 1:05:20Of life you're in with Halloween.
- 1:05:22I relate. I mean this.
- 1:05:24That's kind of sad because he's the old guy, but you know, like
- 1:05:27it's I like to party, but also this stuff is awesome.
- 1:05:32Like, I like it. So he gets another one.
- 1:05:35Yeah, suddenly. There came a tapping, a wrapping
- 1:05:39at his chamber door. Yes, and it is actually just.
- 1:05:45Like. It distracts.
- 1:05:48Him for a second. And then he hears Spite barking
- 1:05:50outside. So he goes out there and this is
- 1:05:51where he's yelling at Wilkins. And when he comes back inside,
- 1:05:54he hears up his stairs. So he goes to check it out and
- 1:06:00he he went outside. Before that, and it's like
- 1:06:03covering Jack O lanterns. OK, Yeah.
- 1:06:07So when he gets up to his bedroom, he finds Sam's hand in
- 1:06:10his bed, and before he can be like, how did a disembodied hand
- 1:06:12get in my bed, we get a total pet cemetery move and his
- 1:06:15Achilles tendon is slashed from underneath the bed.
- 1:06:19Sam appears and he's got a box cutter inside of his chocolate.
- 1:06:23Probably borrow that from Wilkins.
- 1:06:24Definitely Wilkins. And Krieg.
- 1:06:27Tries to get away and he ends up falling down the stairs.
- 1:06:30He's calling for help to Wilkins who remembers him very UN fondly
- 1:06:35from a few minutes ago. Sam attacks him some more and
- 1:06:41then Krieg manages to get to his shotgun above his fireplace and
- 1:06:45shoots him. But Sam is still alive.
- 1:06:49His hand comes out and attacks him and then it like up to the
- 1:06:53body and reattaches itself and Sam slowly walks towards Creek
- 1:06:58who is sure he's a dead man. Dude I love this.
- 1:07:01He like pulls out the. Sucker he's got his knife and
- 1:07:03he's like holding him up like he's about to stab it over him
- 1:07:06and he just stabs him right on the chest and like well Creeks
- 1:07:09just like gives up this really long yell and then realizes that
- 1:07:12he's okay yeah cuz he stabbed a candy.
- 1:07:15Bar and because he completed the trick or treat tradition,
- 1:07:19followed the rules, gave the candy art the clown will tell
- 1:07:22you this is how trick or treating works.
- 1:07:24But did he? It was just on his stomach.
- 1:07:26I know like he didn't. Really do it, but.
- 1:07:29I guess he counted. Yeah, I think Sam was in a.
- 1:07:31Good mood. Yeah, Sam knew that.
- 1:07:34Those other kids were about to come that he's like, look, I
- 1:07:36found candy that. Had like, yeah, that's like an
- 1:07:39old school tradition, man. Like I respect that.
- 1:07:42That's a deep cut, literally. Isn't nice, so then he just
- 1:07:49leaves and then he's it. Cuts to like a little bit later
- 1:07:54flash forward, he's actually doing trick or treaters, but as
- 1:07:57like the scene fades. Away we see the fire going, and
- 1:08:00there's a picture of him with all of the kids from the school.
- 1:08:03Yeah, he was the bus. Driver.
- 1:08:04Dude that blew my mind whenever I ever.
- 1:08:06Watched that for the first time later.
- 1:08:10We see trick or treaters come by.
- 1:08:12Craig is all dressed up and he gives them candy.
- 1:08:15They're three sisters or friends, and they're dressed as
- 1:08:17the Three Little Pigs. And I think it's cute.
- 1:08:19That is, Yeah. And the.
- 1:08:21Youngest one. She's like cool mummy costume,
- 1:08:23Mr. Craig. Which is just cute.
- 1:08:26He's. Like all bandaged up from being
- 1:08:28attacked. Yeah, and then behind them is
- 1:08:31all the zombie kids that you killed from the bus massacre.
- 1:08:35Meanwhile, next door we see Billy dressed.
- 1:08:37Up as his dad Rhonda's walking home, we see the wolves driving
- 1:08:42home and then the robot couple arguing.
- 1:08:46So Yep. And.
- 1:08:49Yeah, that's it, right. That's it.
- 1:08:51Yeah, that's the gist. I love this movie.
- 1:08:55It's still a 10. For me, I like it's amazing.
- 1:08:59OK, I'll bump it to the 10. Yeah, it's a.
- 1:09:03Perfect Halloween movie, honestly.
- 1:09:04Like, aside from Halloween, like this one right here.
- 1:09:08I mean, we watch both of them on Halloween every single year.
- 1:09:11So yeah, you know who else loves this movie?
- 1:09:14Talia. Talia.
- 1:09:15Yeah, Talia. Loves this movie.
- 1:09:16She's always down to watch it. She loves the Halloween
- 1:09:19traditions. She loves that Spike gets to
- 1:09:21have his fun, yes, but doesn't have any.
- 1:09:25Trouble we've got. Wolves, even there's howling
- 1:09:27shoes into that. This is a very pro dog movie.
- 1:09:30Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:09:31So I think Talia also gives us A10.
- 1:09:33OK. All right.
- 1:09:35So we got a lot to choose from with the Zoe's Ultimate Warrior.
- 1:09:38Indeed we do. We need to.
- 1:09:40Pick carefully. See yeah, there.
- 1:09:48OK, there's just an argument for Lori and Sam.
- 1:09:54I would say Lori because she likes she kind of like toyed
- 1:09:59with her victim, let him on type deal, you know what I mean?
- 1:10:04She knew what she was like doing with him to like get him to try
- 1:10:07and attack. So I think Zoe respected that.
- 1:10:11But also, Sam, it's like a tiny, tenacious all energy.
- 1:10:19I think she respects that too. That's kind of.
- 1:10:20Her place, though. Also, here's the thing.
- 1:10:24I know he doesn't last long in the movie, but Charlie, he's
- 1:10:28knocking shit down and he's taking all of the candy he wants
- 1:10:32even though he's only supposed to take one.
- 1:10:34He's stealing food. Oh my God, that's her MO.
- 1:10:38You're so right. It's Charlie.
- 1:10:40Here's the thing guys, you need. To understand, we once saw Zoe
- 1:10:44drag a rack of ribs across. It's, it's true.
- 1:10:51She, she's good at it. So.
- 1:10:56You know, like she hasn't been for her life, man.
- 1:10:59She. She learned some valuable
- 1:11:00skills. I think for her it doesn't
- 1:11:02matter that. Charlie doesn't last a long time
- 1:11:04because he had a good time. Yeah, he had a good run.
- 1:11:09OK, for sure, Charlie. All right.
- 1:11:12Who'd you relate? To.
- 1:11:13Oh man. This is a good question.
- 1:11:20I wanna say it kind of related to.
- 1:11:22Sarah, when the teacher's like, you wanna come home for a drink,
- 1:11:25she's like, OK. Yeah.
- 1:11:27Every kid was. Like that, yeah, I related to
- 1:11:30Creed because. That's like a cool Halloween.
- 1:11:34Night right there. Yeah, that's gonna be our
- 1:11:37Halloween night on Thursday for sure.
- 1:11:39Today for those listening, that's what's happening with me
- 1:11:41right now. So OK.
- 1:11:47Is it tackling dream SQL? Dream SQL?
- 1:11:53That's fine. Well, OK, we already said OK, So
- 1:11:55basically what genres do you wanna have tackled?
- 1:11:57OK. And what location?
- 1:11:59Yes. What location?
- 1:12:01So I would love to see. Like get Deep South church
- 1:12:07country where they like don't do a lot of trick or treating.
- 1:12:10It's mostly trunk or treating and 'cause that's the ultimate
- 1:12:12disrespect of the holiday. You're right.
- 1:12:14So I want that setting and then the vehicles I want to see in
- 1:12:20the anthology I would like to see.
- 1:12:25True. Vampire.
- 1:12:27I know they've already got kind of the vampire representation,
- 1:12:29OK, but I'd like to see something that involves like
- 1:12:32bloodletting, OK? What else you said?
- 1:12:40Ghost earlier. Ghost earlier.
- 1:12:41I think that would be fun. Witches doing some spell.
- 1:12:45Casting. Yeah, OK.
- 1:12:48Well. We're going back to kind of
- 1:12:49monsters again, but I can drive with these a little bit better.
- 1:12:52OK, Yeah, I. Guess.
- 1:12:55I guess it's just how you do it. Yeah, type deal, which they kind
- 1:12:59of did the vampire one, which is more grounded like serial
- 1:13:01killers I think in this one. So OK, yeah.
- 1:13:03So which is Ghost? Which is.
- 1:13:07Ghost. And vampire.
- 1:13:11You said real vampire. What if we?
- 1:13:13OK, let's come up with a different.
- 1:13:14One though, because we have kind of vampire already, OK.
- 1:13:20Chainsaw bastard man. I would.
- 1:13:23Like a chainsaw man. Like a straight up cannibal.
- 1:13:29Cannibal. Yeah, OK.
- 1:13:31Yeah, wrong turn. Yeah, wrong turn.
- 1:13:34I was going. Hannibal those are the spectrums
- 1:13:36of cannibals that exist. You've got hooten and hollerin
- 1:13:38and then you've got like 5 of beans and a nice candy.
- 1:13:42I think hooten and. Hollerin fits this better.
- 1:13:46Yes, although that would work well too.
- 1:13:47Cannibal convention Cannibal. Convention, wouldn't you?
- 1:13:50Love to see. Hannibal just get real fucking
- 1:13:55annoyed with three finger. Hannibal the Cannibal, yeah.
- 1:13:58Yes. I would love to see that.
- 1:14:03Yeah, I wanted to see like I wanna, I wanna see the clash
- 1:14:07because there's such different types.
- 1:14:09Yeah, yes, that'd be a lot of fun.
- 1:14:11OK, well then there we go. That's a fun subplot with that.
- 1:14:13Yeah. OK.
- 1:14:14And then the wrap around. It's another Halloween night.
- 1:14:16You got Sam, obviously, because he's, you know, he's Sam.
- 1:14:19He's the spirit of Halloween. He's everywhere.
- 1:14:21Yeah, maybe we've got like the pastor of the.
- 1:14:22Church that's doing the trunk or treat and like he ends up coming
- 1:14:25around to being a believer of the Halloween tradition.
- 1:14:29That's cool. Yeah, There we go, all.
- 1:14:31Right, we got a whole sequel. That's awesome.
- 1:14:33It's already come talk to us. We'll work with you.
- 1:14:36We'll make it happen. We got you.
- 1:14:38We'll make it. Work.
- 1:14:38Yeah, OK. Sorry I don't have the right.
- 1:14:40Financial. Information for you?
- 1:14:42Yeah, we'll, we'll get there. We'll fund it, we'll fundraise
- 1:14:45it. OK, now it's staggering.
- 1:14:48OK, we can't top the one. Oh man, little man, big respect.
- 1:15:01You've broken me tonight. What if there's something about
- 1:15:07the abandoned Cliff? Abandoned.
- 1:15:12Cliffs, not rules. Yeah.
- 1:15:14Oh. Yes.
- 1:15:16Yes, there we go. That's it.
- 1:15:19Abandoned cliffs, not rules. That was good.
- 1:15:21Or should it be traditions? Abandoned cliffs, Not
- 1:15:25traditions. Yes, traditions.
- 1:15:27There we go. Yeah, abandoned.
- 1:15:29Oh my God, that's perfect. So.
- 1:15:33Notice I wonder the people like the regular listeners.
- 1:15:36If they look at this and they're like, I wonder if this will make
- 1:15:38more sense in an hour. Yeah, I hope.
- 1:15:42So that'd be great. OK, I've got a review.
- 1:15:49All right, I guess we need that before.
- 1:15:51You start doing the listener review.
- 1:15:52Yeah, No, I'm just getting prepared.
- 1:15:57I'm gonna. Be really honest, I tried to.
- 1:15:59Find a like a film critic review, but I didn't want to
- 1:16:05click through a bunch because I think this is a good movie and I
- 1:16:08didn't want to have to like click through a bunch and find a
- 1:16:11-1 so I'm with the user review. OK, that's fair.
- 1:16:14And. This is one that we've talked
- 1:16:18about a lot. Where sometimes people are just
- 1:16:22like, didn't scare me and that's like the whole review or stupid.
- 1:16:26Like, cool. I'm glad you feel the way you
- 1:16:29feel and that you have an opinion you want to share so
- 1:16:32strongly. But like, why?
- 1:16:35Yeah. OK.
- 1:16:37So this one. Actually.
- 1:16:39Had some things that I saw the merit in.
- 1:16:41OK, this is a 1. Out of 10.
- 1:16:47If you like good horror, this movie is not for you.
- 1:16:50Good horror movies are hard to find ones made in Hollywood.
- 1:16:52Doubly so When I saw Trick or Treat, it was hovering around A7
- 1:16:55on the IMDb. The IMDb.
- 1:16:57The IMDb. I thought I might be in for an.
- 1:17:00Actual treat I was wrong. Don't waste your time on this
- 1:17:03movie, even if it's playing on basic cable and the only
- 1:17:05alternative is a marathon of Punky Brewster.
- 1:17:09Without offering any spoilers other than the movie sucks, my
- 1:17:12chief complaint is this. The actions of characters often
- 1:17:15don't seem believable. For example, from the opening,
- 1:17:18if you decorated your house for Halloween more elaborately than
- 1:17:21even Disneyland, would you then start taking those decorations
- 1:17:25down right in the middle of Halloween night while the
- 1:17:27streets are still teeming with children?
- 1:17:29No one would, fairpoint. The movie offers a feeble
- 1:17:32reason, but really it's just a device to put a character into
- 1:17:34the situation required by the plot.
- 1:17:36It also puts the viewer into the position of thinking this movie
- 1:17:39is it's really lame. Much better contemporaries in
- 1:17:42the genre are Drag Me to Hell and The House of the Devil, each
- 1:17:46of which offering compelling stories and legitimate thrills
- 1:17:48and chills. I will give this person credit
- 1:17:51for having a wide range of movies to choose from.
- 1:17:54Jesus. OK.
- 1:17:55Yeah, it's like. Going from drag me to.
- 1:17:57Hell to House of the Devil. Well, both good movies.
- 1:18:00Very totally different, yes. But I do.
- 1:18:03Appreciate that they offered. Alternatives, yeah, for sure.
- 1:18:06And those are great. Movies too.
- 1:18:07Yeah, like House of the Devil's Awesome.
- 1:18:13That's kind of like. Just, I don't know, nitpicking
- 1:18:16certain things again, like with the thing about the girl taking
- 1:18:19the stuff down, like I'm not bothered by that.
- 1:18:22I've been drunk and gotten. Real stupid about stuff at
- 1:18:25times. I've cleaned the entire house
- 1:18:28once when I was drunk and upset. Like, it's not unbelievable.
- 1:18:33And especially if we go with the thought that maybe Henry put up
- 1:18:36the decorations and she wasn't super into it.
- 1:18:40Could be you know. What?
- 1:18:42And same with. Like.
- 1:18:43Sam like, clearly. Mr. Krieg was just trying to
- 1:18:45shield himself with the candy bar, but Sam still accepted it.
- 1:18:49Yeah, technically. Correct.
- 1:18:51Is the best kind you? Know.
- 1:18:52Yeah, look, I mean, I guess I can.
- 1:18:54Understand not being big on like the things with this movie.
- 1:18:58So like, Oh no. Like to me it's just an
- 1:19:01entertaining one. Yeah, like it's just like a good
- 1:19:03comfort one. Like it, it just kind of
- 1:19:05captures the spirit. I think that's all I really set
- 1:19:07out to do. That's really what it is.
- 1:19:09And like, that's the thing. Is that a lot of Halloween
- 1:19:10movies struggle to really capture the spirit and feeling
- 1:19:14of Halloween, and this movie just gets it.
- 1:19:16It gets it from a technical aspect, but also from like the
- 1:19:19emotional aspect. And I think that's what's
- 1:19:21amazing about it big time. OK, OK, great.
- 1:19:25Listen our reviews. Listen, our reviews, I'm
- 1:19:27counting on you guys counting on you, OK, so.
- 1:19:31Let's start off on Instagram. Michael E Howard, Trick or Treat
- 1:19:36is one of, if not the best Halloween anthology movies ever
- 1:19:40created. The way the stories are woven
- 1:19:42together as genius. Each watch I see more details I
- 1:19:45missed in the past. Same shows the consequences of
- 1:19:48messing with the spirit of Halloween.
- 1:19:49I watch this one every year and consider it a classic. 10 out of
- 1:19:5210. Yeah, man.
- 1:19:55That's perfect, right? On the pulse with us, it is
- 1:19:57classic. It is a classic.
- 1:19:58And it really. It has become one of our
- 1:20:00Halloween traditions. We often put it on while we have
- 1:20:03trick or treaters. Yeah, that's kind of like.
- 1:20:05That's the time we do it anymore because it's perfect.
- 1:20:08You know like trick or treat while trick or treating yes and
- 1:20:11also it's one of those that we've.
- 1:20:12Seen a million times so you don't have to like pay super
- 1:20:14close attention. That and Halloween are two that
- 1:20:17we must watch. Every Halloween.
- 1:20:20Yeah, dude, I've been tempted to watch.
- 1:20:21That one too, but you gotta wait for the day, man. 3 days.
- 1:20:24We've got the countdown. On our little candy corn, I'm
- 1:20:26looking forward to it. OK.
- 1:20:28Cubesafe says. Sam is my boy who have that
- 1:20:31little dude. I fucking love Sam.
- 1:20:33Too he's. Iconic.
- 1:20:35Like I love the design. Little sat kid.
- 1:20:38Yeah, his little weapon, it's like got such a perfect.
- 1:20:42Like, homemade feel to the costume.
- 1:20:44You know, It does. Yeah.
- 1:20:45And it's also like, which is weird, you know?
- 1:20:50Yeah, OK. Over on.
- 1:20:52Twitter Jurassic Souls. It's one of, if not the perfect
- 1:20:56Halloween season movies. It's gushing with spooky spirit
- 1:20:59and really quenches the thirst for the holiday.
- 1:21:01I watch it yearly. Absolutely.
- 1:21:04Yeah, I think. Everybody should actually make.
- 1:21:05This a tradition if you don't already.
- 1:21:08Queerly Boobs says it's one of those movies that just gets
- 1:21:11better with each watch. With how every story enter wings
- 1:21:15or enter wines I almost intertwined intertwined.
- 1:21:19I tried to do inter interweave at first and then I fucked it up
- 1:21:25how every story intertwines with each other and ends up
- 1:21:28connecting all the dots at the end.
- 1:21:30So much fun. 2 thumbs up. Big words make me no good boobs.
- 1:21:36I'm sorry but I agree with that. It inner wings.
- 1:21:41You're an inner Wiener. OK.
