- 0:19Speaker 3: Welcome to Patriots Unfiltered.
- 0:22Speaker 4: Plan my colonoscopy a couple of weeks after I thought
- 0:25Speaker 4: it would happen, and now we're sharing it.
- 0:27Speaker 5: It's like, I don't know, why do we just openly
- 0:29Speaker 5: share it? Because I think in mental health is an
- 0:31Speaker 5: important thing.
- 0:32Speaker 3: If you're not tom plating getting a colonoscopy, whether for
- 0:35Speaker 3: pleasure or for it no help, I would go ahead
- 0:40Speaker 3: and do it because it is a good purge. Everybody
- 0:42Speaker 3: needs a good purge every once in a while. Man,
- 0:45Speaker 3: it's one of the most relaxing sleeps that you'll have.
- 0:48Speaker 3: So go ahead and get your get on that maintenance.
- 0:52Speaker 3: It's like rotating gu.
- 0:53Speaker 5: Tires clean out to get off this.
- 0:56Speaker 6: Evan.
- 0:56Speaker 5: Let me tell you, Evan, you're gonna have to confront this,
- 0:59Speaker 5: not see this in future.
- 1:00Speaker 3: I don't need to talk about it publicly.
- 1:02Speaker 4: All the Jersey mikes you eat, all those nitrates, you.
- 1:05Speaker 3: Know when you get sandwich every day, so you ever
- 1:09Speaker 3: see it's a wonderful No yes of the movie.
- 1:14Speaker 5: You've never seen it's a wonderful life.
- 1:17Speaker 7: I'm still a wonderful lifeless list.
- 1:20Speaker 8: This is Patriots Unfiltered, presented by Toyota's official website. For deals,

- 1:28Speaker 3: All right, welcome the Patriots Unfiltered. It is Tuesday here
- 1:32Speaker 3: at Jill's Stadium, and we're down one. Paul's in Italy,
- 1:37Speaker 3: So can only imagine what's going on over there, right,
- 1:40Speaker 3: can only imagine what if? You can only imagine? Wow, Joe,
- 1:46Speaker 3: he's probably in an argument. It's some you know Latte.
- 1:48Speaker 4: Place, rightozy, Like, yeah, you guys make fun of Italians here, right,
- 1:53Speaker 4: there's no making fun of Italians here a Italian.
- 1:55Speaker 3: Right, right. So I'm sure we'll have some stories when
- 1:59Speaker 3: he gets back.
- 2:00Speaker 4: If we've had to check in. Sounds like he's uh
- 2:02Speaker 4: so far. He was like, had some pizza. It was good, okay, okay, good,
- 2:06Speaker 4: good good. Pretty disappointed if he comes back and all
- 2:09Speaker 4: he did was just eat like an Italian sub and
- 2:11Speaker 4: pizza the whole like, you know, I hope he gets
- 2:13Speaker 4: some like real Italian food.
- 2:14Speaker 9: Have you met Paul?
- 2:15Speaker 3: I have? Actually, somebody will. It'll be like a seafood dish.
- 2:23Speaker 3: He'll turn his nose up on it anyway. It's Evan,
- 2:26Speaker 3: it's Duce, it's me, it's Matt and the booth. We're
- 2:29Speaker 3: talking Patriots and you know, things are starting to heat
- 2:32Speaker 3: up a little bit here to Let's Stadium.
- 2:33Speaker 5: Rookie Minnie Camp, Saturday Rookie Mini Camp.
- 2:36Speaker 3: We'll have access to it on Saturday, but it starts
- 2:38Speaker 3: on Friday. Thursday. We'll be out on the field with
- 2:44Speaker 3: the Patriots first round draft pick, Caleb Lamoux. That'll be
- 2:48Speaker 3: around four o'clock we think four pm. We'll cover that
- 2:51Speaker 3: live on Patriots dot com and uh so you can
- 2:55Speaker 3: watch that annual tradition, so that'll be fun. And then
- 3:00Speaker 3: do said on Saturday, we'll be out there with the
- 3:03Speaker 3: first look at the Rooks.
- 3:05Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, hopefully we'll be outside.
- 3:06Speaker 4: Last year we were was raining, so we had to
- 3:08Speaker 4: go to the bubble, but we did get.
- 3:09Speaker 5: Hamburgers, so that was a little bit of trade out.
- 3:11Speaker 5: But I'd like to be outside.
- 3:13Speaker 4: I love and I love these OTA practices, especially when
- 3:15Speaker 4: you get through the draft and we get through like
- 3:17Speaker 4: you know, schedule release is kind of a big thing
- 3:19Speaker 4: for us. But once we get into these like o ta's,
- 3:20Speaker 4: I feel like we're we're on the ramp to summer
- 3:23Speaker 4: and the ramp to break, and you know, the refreshing
- 3:26Speaker 4: break that we have not had since really feel like
- 3:29Speaker 4: last timer.
- 3:29Speaker 3: And you know, over the years, it's always been made
- 3:31Speaker 3: clear to us, and I'm sure Vrabel says the same thing,
- 3:34Speaker 3: that these early months of the spring in summer are
- 3:39Speaker 3: for teaching. It's not necessarily evaluation. However, Puppy's got a bite. Yeah,
- 3:45Speaker 3: things happen, and you know sometimes things that happen in
- 3:48Speaker 3: spring carry forward, and so you know, it's a good
- 3:53Speaker 3: topic for discussion. You know, what are some things in
- 3:56Speaker 3: the past that you saw early on, you know May
- 4:01Speaker 3: that was an indication of things to come. And I'm
- 4:04Speaker 3: thinking about like offensive line alignments or you know wide
- 4:08Speaker 3: receivers who kind of stuck out right away, things.
- 4:11Speaker 4: Like that size and I'd start with size and speed,
- 4:13Speaker 4: you know, just having size and speed. Those you know
- 4:15Speaker 4: guys that like Travon last year, got in person, it
- 4:19Speaker 4: was like, oh, he's got another gear, you know.
- 4:21Speaker 9: Yeah, yeah, I think I would say you can tell
- 4:24Speaker 9: how the guys move and all that kind of stuff.
- 4:26Speaker 9: But for the most part, you tried not to put
- 4:29Speaker 9: too much stock into it. I remember my first year
- 4:32Speaker 9: Maurice Harris tore up the spring and the start of
- 4:36Speaker 9: training free agent right as a veteran free agent. Brady
- 4:39Speaker 9: was throwing them the ball like crazy. And then we
- 4:42Speaker 9: got into the summer and the pads came on and
- 4:46Speaker 9: the real competition began, and all of a sudden, Maris
- 4:49Speaker 9: Heris didn't even make it to cut down day, didn't
- 4:51Speaker 9: even make it to the end of training camp, and
- 4:54Speaker 9: everybody pivoted to Jacobe Myers. Jacoby Myers then went kept
- 4:58Speaker 9: getting better and better, and Maurice Harris faded and Kobe
- 5:01Speaker 9: Meyers ended up being the guy that stuck. So I
- 5:03Speaker 9: always have that in the back of my head of like,
- 5:05Speaker 9: don't fall for Maurice Harris again and get too caught
- 5:08Speaker 9: up in what happens this time of year. But last
- 5:12Speaker 9: year I was looking over some of the stuff that
- 5:13Speaker 9: we did out of these rookie mini camps and stuff
- 5:16Speaker 9: last year, and we were already talking about Fton Chisholm
- 5:19Speaker 9: and Land Larison and some of the guys that did
- 5:22Speaker 9: end up making some noise for the Patriots, you know,
- 5:24Speaker 9: in training camps. So it's not it could go both ways,
- 5:28Speaker 9: but you do try not to put too much stock
- 5:30Speaker 9: into it at the same time.
- 5:31Speaker 4: Yeah, four undrafted wide vibe receivers that'eah interested just to
- 5:35Speaker 4: see how those guys move, what their body types are, like,
- 5:38Speaker 4: you know, where they're lining up a little bit. You
- 5:40Speaker 4: get a sense of guys that maybe skew a little
- 5:42Speaker 4: bit more towards the outside, guys that might be slot
- 5:45Speaker 4: receivers out rared and want to see, you know, how
- 5:47Speaker 4: does he look? You know, what's the cut of his jib?
- 5:49Speaker 4: As Paul might say, You know, he's a big dude.
- 5:51Speaker 4: I mean sometimes like Gronk, Like he tell you Gronk
- 5:53Speaker 4: is big, and you look at the numbers and yeah, Gronk,
- 5:55Speaker 4: But when you see Gronk in person.
- 5:57Speaker 5: You're like, no, he's a monster. Like he's huge. So
- 6:00Speaker 5: curious how rared and kind of looks in person.
- 6:02Speaker 3: Are there any limitations for this weekend? We know they
- 6:07Speaker 3: can't hit and make contact, but like in terms of
- 6:09Speaker 3: throwing or anything like that.
- 6:11Speaker 9: No, it's it's ota rules, so like you can have
- 6:14Speaker 9: offense versus defense. You can throw, they're just no pads
- 6:17Speaker 9: and there's no contact. So it's the same thing that
- 6:20Speaker 9: we're going to see at Veteran Mini Camp. It's the
- 6:22Speaker 9: same set of rules. So last year they did do
- 6:27Speaker 9: some eleven on elevens or at least sevens. They did
- 6:29Speaker 9: some sort of team stuff at the end where we
- 6:32Speaker 9: saw them actually, you know, line up and play football
- 6:36Speaker 9: for a little bit, not a ton, but a little bit.
- 6:39Speaker 3: A little bit.
- 6:40Speaker 5: That would be good to get out there see some
- 6:41Speaker 5: of these guys.
- 6:41Speaker 4: You know, I don't know how much you can tell
- 6:43Speaker 4: on the offensive line though, but I was just kind
- 6:44Speaker 4: of messing around with the Pats picker thing, which is
- 6:47Speaker 4: a great app if you're a nerd and you want
- 6:49Speaker 4: to like figure out you know, it's just an app
- 6:50Speaker 4: to figure out the roster spots. It's an easy way
- 6:52Speaker 4: to do it and quick, like look, and I like
- 6:55Speaker 4: it because you can get an immediate feeling for the
- 6:58Speaker 4: roster and like, I just still feel they're really thin
- 7:00Speaker 4: on the inside. And you know, EV mentioned the guy
- 7:02Speaker 4: John Darius Morgan, who you know, you liked.
- 7:04Speaker 5: A little bit, and I just I think there's a
- 7:06Speaker 5: real opportunity you have.
- 7:07Speaker 4: Ben Brown is a good swing backup, but after that
- 7:09Speaker 4: it feels like a free for all at the guard position.
- 7:11Speaker 5: So maybe an opportunity for a kid like that. Are
- 7:13Speaker 5: we gonna learn anything in rookie.
- 7:14Speaker 4: Minnie Camp probably not, but at least clock them to
- 7:17Speaker 4: see what he looks like.
- 7:17Speaker 9: Yeah, him and Jacob Rizzy the two interior guys, and.
- 7:20Speaker 5: He didn't that much though.
- 7:22Speaker 9: I wasn't as into Rizzy, no, but he has four
- 7:27Speaker 9: position flexibility. He can play pretty much anywhere on the
- 7:30Speaker 9: offensive line. So just from a value standpoint, you know,
- 7:34Speaker 9: the more you can do. So I didn't like his
- 7:37Speaker 9: tape as much as I liked Morgan's tape, but he
- 7:39Speaker 9: has a lot more versatility. I think Morgan's a pure guard,
- 7:42Speaker 9: but Rizzy can kind of play at probably all three
- 7:45Speaker 9: interior spots at least and maybe even right tackle in
- 7:48Speaker 9: a pinch too. So there's some value there in terms
- 7:51Speaker 9: of versatility. But both those guys have a path to
- 7:54Speaker 9: the roster absolutely. I mean behind Ben Brown, it's kind
- 7:57Speaker 9: of a free for all there. For if they're going
- 7:59Speaker 9: to even carry an extra guard or an extra interior guy,
- 8:03Speaker 9: you know, maybe they feel like Lomu can flex in
- 8:06Speaker 9: worst case scenario, he could play guard if he had to,
- 8:09Speaker 9: as like a super sub. That's kind of what Elliott
- 8:11Speaker 9: Wolf alluded to. He doesn't play as a rookie at tackle.
- 8:14Speaker 9: If somebody gets hurt on the interior, would you just
- 8:17Speaker 9: move him inside and have him play interior for you know,
- 8:20Speaker 9: a spot starter?
- 8:21Speaker 3: Is Ben Brown also our backup center?
- 8:23Speaker 4: Yeah, he's our backup swing on the interior. I think
- 8:27Speaker 4: they extended him last year.
- 8:28Speaker 5: I mean I love him. I mean, I think he's
- 8:29Speaker 5: got great size, he's a great guy. We had him
- 8:31Speaker 5: in here a couple of times.
- 8:32Speaker 4: But I think cornerback's another position behind the top three
- 8:35Speaker 4: that's kind of a free for all.
- 8:36Speaker 5: You know, who's gonna be.
- 8:37Speaker 4: Able to you know, Prontye they drafted, but every year
- 8:39Speaker 4: they've been drafting guys on the third day. That's a
- 8:42Speaker 4: spot special teams, heavy Marcello's style, coming off an injury.
- 8:45Speaker 5: It's just hard to suss out how that's all gonna
- 8:47Speaker 5: play out.
- 8:48Speaker 4: But I think if you're a cornerback, there's probably a
- 8:50Speaker 4: couple of spots that are going to be pretty wide open.
- 8:52Speaker 5: You know, especially you're gonna have to play special teams.
- 8:54Speaker 4: But you know, somebody like Charles Woods, he had some
- 8:57Speaker 4: experience last year on the outside. I mean, you're gonna
- 8:59Speaker 4: need you know, third or sorry, fourth guy behind the
- 9:02Speaker 4: top three.
- 9:03Speaker 5: So who is it who can emerge?
- 9:04Speaker 4: I mean it's it's exciting to see, you know, just
- 9:06Speaker 4: an opportunity.
- 9:07Speaker 5: To be there.
- 9:09Speaker 3: They might do some special team you know, handling punts
- 9:11Speaker 3: and kickoffs, and you know they probably the kickoff returner
- 9:15Speaker 3: job is up, you know, up for grabs, but you
- 9:19Speaker 3: know someone could make a dent there. I think punt
- 9:22Speaker 3: returning is Marcus Jones' job. But in terms of kickoff
- 9:26Speaker 3: and I remember, I forget which training camp it was,
- 9:29Speaker 3: but I was standing behind the end zone. It was
- 9:32Speaker 3: it was before training camp and Bethel Johnson who was
- 9:36Speaker 3: a rookie, and he was taking kickoff and I couldn't
- 9:40Speaker 3: believe how fast he would get from to top speed.
- 9:43Speaker 3: I'm like, wow, this this guy looks different. I mean,
- 9:46Speaker 3: he just got so fast, so quick. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 9:53Speaker 4: I mean, no matter how many times you watch tape
- 9:55Speaker 4: of these guys, you see them playing in high school
- 9:56Speaker 4: or college in high school, but once you got to
- 9:59Speaker 4: get him out on the field against other NFL players
- 10:01Speaker 4: to see what their size and speed, how they really
- 10:04Speaker 4: really match up at this level.
- 10:06Speaker 9: Yeah, certainly that third running back spot is probably going
- 10:09Speaker 9: to have to be somebody that can return kickoffs. It
- 10:11Speaker 9: was all last year for them and if it's jam Miller,
- 10:13Speaker 9: if it's Land Larison, if it's Terrell Jennings, Like, whoever
- 10:16Speaker 9: wins that job is going to get thrown back there
- 10:19Speaker 9: to return kickoffs as you know, a pretty regular option.
- 10:23Speaker 9: So whoever has the most juice, you know, probably on
- 10:26Speaker 9: paper jam Miller just based off of his athletic profile.
- 10:30Speaker 9: But Land Larson's pretty quick, you know, you know, he
- 10:33Speaker 9: maybe be able to do it too.
- 10:34Speaker 3: So, speaking of kickoffs, did they tweak the alignment rule
- 10:38Speaker 3: for kickoffs?
- 10:39Speaker 4: The scene was a guy, I don't remember what the
- 10:41Speaker 4: technicality of it.
- 10:42Speaker 5: There was like a slight tweak to something.
- 10:44Speaker 9: I thought, Yeah, I don't know, I don't think anything major,
- 10:47Speaker 9: but I don't think it's going to change.
- 10:48Speaker 3: Do they need to? I mean this kickoff thing, I
- 10:50Speaker 3: mean like there are more kickoff returns than there have been.
- 10:53Speaker 9: There is, there's more returns, but now it's become a
- 10:57Speaker 9: play of like trying to get to the thirty set,
- 11:00Speaker 9: of trying to break one. Like it's less about they
- 11:03Speaker 9: are hoping that it would create more explosive returns, and
- 11:06Speaker 9: I don't know if it has done that, but now
- 11:08Speaker 9: you know, the thirty yard line is kind of that
- 11:12Speaker 9: that line of demarcation that you want to get across.
- 11:14Speaker 9: So I think teams could be more creative on it.
- 11:17Speaker 9: I honestly, I don't think that there's enough sort of
- 11:20Speaker 9: creativity of how the blocking schemes and also just the
- 11:23Speaker 9: way you use both returners back there. I feel like
- 11:26Speaker 9: there's more there, but I think teams are so reluctant
- 11:30Speaker 9: to risk ball security in favor of doing stuff like
- 11:33Speaker 9: that that they're like, oh, we'll just take it at
- 11:35Speaker 9: the twenty five or the thirty and take our chances.
- 11:38Speaker 5: It's super technical.
- 11:39Speaker 4: It's like the number of receiving team players in the
- 11:41Speaker 4: setup zone with their front foot front foot on the
- 11:43Speaker 4: setup line is reduced from five to six. Additionally, four
- 11:46Speaker 4: players up from three can be in the setup zone
- 11:48Speaker 4: behind Len.
- 11:49Speaker 9: You know, I don't not anything that's not anything that's
- 11:54Speaker 9: going to change the play, Like it's going to look
- 11:57Speaker 9: relatively the same.
- 11:58Speaker 4: Yeah, But another spot where you guys said opportunity. So
- 12:01Speaker 4: that's where you start to I think when you get
- 12:02Speaker 4: to this point, you're looking at where the position battle
- 12:05Speaker 4: is going to be. We know the good players want
- 12:06Speaker 4: to see, you know, how Drake looks and all that,
- 12:08Speaker 4: but but there's some opportunities.
- 12:10Speaker 3: So I'm thinking top three things that need to be
- 12:13Speaker 3: figured out first for this team. Top three things, and.
- 12:17Speaker 4: If a certain receiver is coming to join us, perhaps
- 12:20Speaker 4: that number one.
- 12:21Speaker 3: Okay, okay, aside from a j Brown boy, they were
- 12:25Speaker 3: really talking about it like it's definitely going to happen
- 12:27Speaker 3: on that NFL show, you know, so he today, just today.
- 12:32Speaker 9: I mean all the fantasy places have him on the
- 12:34Speaker 9: Patriots in the in like the fantasy is this all
- 12:38Speaker 9: just a charade?
- 12:38Speaker 3: Like I just think it's a wolfst thing is they
- 12:41Speaker 3: have to wait until June, and if they say it's
- 12:43Speaker 3: definite now, then they broke a rule so they can't.
- 12:46Speaker 3: So they have to wait until June first to announce it.
- 12:48Speaker 4: It feels like everybody doesn't want to give up a
- 12:50Speaker 4: first round pick though. That's like I feel like the
- 12:52Speaker 4: consensus of Patriots nation of great would love him, don't
- 12:55Speaker 4: want to give up.
- 12:56Speaker 5: A first round pick, and I agree with those people.
- 12:58Speaker 3: So go back to the question the top three things
- 13:01Speaker 3: the team has to figure out first? Was it would
- 13:05Speaker 3: it be can Jared Wilson play center? Yeah?
- 13:09Speaker 5: I think that's I think that's in the mix.
- 13:11Speaker 4: I mean, you know what, what's that transition, Like I mean,
- 13:14Speaker 4: I just there hasn't been a lot of transition.
- 13:16Speaker 1: You know.
- 13:17Speaker 5: It's just I mean you could look.
- 13:18Speaker 4: At Draymond Jones swapping him out with Chase On like,
- 13:20Speaker 4: you know, how does he look? But you know, really,
- 13:22Speaker 4: when I think about the roster, it's it's all kind
- 13:24Speaker 4: of intact for the most part. You mentioned one change.
- 13:27Speaker 4: Draymond Jones is another change.
- 13:29Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 13:29Speaker 9: I would just say, like like Harold Landry on the
- 13:32Speaker 9: other side too, Like, what are they going to get
- 13:34Speaker 9: out of Harold Landry?
- 13:35Speaker 3: You don't know that until the season starts.
- 13:37Speaker 9: Well yeah, I mean if he's healthy, like you know,
- 13:40Speaker 9: I I would like to think that we could at
- 13:43Speaker 9: least maybe see a little glimpse in the in trading
- 13:45Speaker 9: camp of does he got the juice still? Is he
- 13:47Speaker 9: coming off the edge with the same kind of speed?
- 13:49Speaker 9: I mean, that's his game. So if he doesn't have
- 13:51Speaker 9: that year to come off the edge, you know, he's
- 13:54Speaker 9: not the biggest guy. He's not a you know, this
- 13:56Speaker 9: physical specimen kind of like you know, he's not Akis
- 13:59Speaker 9: or Dream Jones built on power. So if he doesn't
- 14:02Speaker 9: have that finessibility, then that's a big part of his game.
- 14:06Speaker 9: So what they get out of him, and can akis
- 14:10Speaker 9: fill that role immediately if they are not going to
- 14:12Speaker 9: get Harold Landry at the peak of Harold Landry. You
- 14:16Speaker 9: know that, I'd say is one thing that I'm looking
- 14:18Speaker 9: for because I think Draymond Jones and Chase On are
- 14:21Speaker 9: going to be a one for one swap. Like I
- 14:23Speaker 9: I don't expect more out of Draymond Jones necessarily, but
- 14:26Speaker 9: I don't expect less either, So that's kind of a wash.
- 14:29Speaker 9: But the other side, if it's not going to be Landry,
- 14:32Speaker 9: then you're putting the second round pick there, right, I mean,
- 14:34Speaker 9: and that's a pretty big role to for a rookie
- 14:38Speaker 9: that wasn't draft at the top of the draft to
- 14:40Speaker 9: instantly step into. Maybe Elijah Ponder can like push.
- 14:45Speaker 5: Ponder on the right to start. Yeah, you know, just
- 14:48Speaker 5: I love that stuff.
- 14:49Speaker 4: Usually overreact, but you want to put veterans that know
- 14:51Speaker 4: what they're doing in these camps, not like, you know,
- 14:53Speaker 4: throw the rookies into the fire.
- 14:54Speaker 5: But I mean, when we get there, I think Vera.
- 14:56Speaker 4: Tucker too, you know, just size wise, how does he
- 14:59Speaker 4: look next to next to Will Campbell?
- 15:01Speaker 9: We just put him a bubble wrap and right, you know,
- 15:05Speaker 9: you know that him, and I'm very interested him and
- 15:09Speaker 9: Morgan Moses, Like we know, Moses going to be on
- 15:11Speaker 9: some sort of plan in training camp where he's going
- 15:13Speaker 9: to practice some days and he's not going to practice
- 15:15Speaker 9: others or do team drills one day not do team
- 15:19Speaker 9: drills the next. But I wonder if they have something
- 15:21Speaker 9: in mind similar with Vera Tucker to try to keep
- 15:24Speaker 9: him healthy because he hasn't.
- 15:26Speaker 3: But you know, you know, Morgan is also an age issue.
- 15:29Speaker 3: Vera Tucker's not that.
- 15:30Speaker 9: Old, he's not that old, but he can't stay on
- 15:32Speaker 9: the field right. So like as you know, what sports
- 15:35Speaker 9: science can they you know, Fry Pirno and his staff
- 15:38Speaker 9: muster up to try to figure out how to keep
- 15:40Speaker 9: this guy healthy, you know. So I think that's.
- 15:43Speaker 4: Also like you wanted to get out there, you wanted
- 15:45Speaker 4: to learn the system, You wanted to develop that chemistry
- 15:47Speaker 4: that you know they had last year with the same
- 15:49Speaker 4: starting five for pretty much the whole season out with
- 15:52Speaker 4: injuries aside. So you know, but that's I think that's
- 15:55Speaker 4: a really big piece of it. Just how is he
- 15:57Speaker 4: going to fit in and what's his impact? You know,
- 15:59Speaker 4: how does he change the offense? I was yesterday some
- 16:02Speaker 4: of the Chargers playoff game was on. You know, just
- 16:04Speaker 4: watching Campbell and Wilson, like, you know, a little bit undersize,
- 16:07Speaker 4: especially when when you have Wilson at their at left guard.
- 16:10Speaker 4: So just be great to see some more size next
- 16:12Speaker 4: to Campbell. I think it'll help a lot.
- 16:14Speaker 3: So going back to the question, so center is definitely
- 16:19Speaker 3: something they got to figure out fast, right, like.
- 16:21Speaker 4: Who But I think that's one where he's kind of
- 16:24Speaker 4: in it to win it, Like I don't I can't
- 16:26Speaker 4: imagine that he doesn't look good and they're.
- 16:27Speaker 5: Like, we got to put Ben Brown in. They're like,
- 16:29Speaker 5: that would be real trouble.
- 16:30Speaker 4: Signed to me, I think they're going to ride with
- 16:32Speaker 4: him and then you know, if it's not working out,
- 16:35Speaker 4: then maybe they make the switch.
- 16:36Speaker 9: But yeah, that one feels like into the season, Yeah,
- 16:38Speaker 9: like Jared Wilson is the starting center and you kind
- 16:41Speaker 9: of give him that rope to develop there, and like
- 16:44Speaker 9: we get into the season and we're five six weeks
- 16:47Speaker 9: in and he's having a tough time, then maybe we
- 16:49Speaker 9: have a different conversation. But I can't see him losing
- 16:52Speaker 9: the job in training camp at that spot yet. It
- 16:54Speaker 9: seems a little premature.
- 16:56Speaker 4: That's why the depth I think interests me most, which
- 16:58Speaker 4: isn't like I mean, I think that's a good.
- 16:59Speaker 3: Also sorts itself out. Yeah, So anything else in terms
- 17:04Speaker 3: of the offensive line, like do we need to figure
- 17:07Speaker 3: out left and right tackle or are we set?
- 17:10Speaker 4: Well, it's just there's just so many guys, you know,
- 17:13Speaker 4: how how does it all break up?
- 17:14Speaker 5: I mean, I like, I'm looking at my thing.
- 17:15Speaker 4: They ate you know, eight tackles, so you got four
- 17:18Speaker 4: layers of tackles on there. We've talked a lot about
- 17:21Speaker 4: Morgan Moses getting some rest. Does Lomu you know, get
- 17:24Speaker 4: a lot of early reps at right tackle to you know,
- 17:27Speaker 4: help speat things along for him? Do we see him
- 17:29Speaker 4: a guard at something we.
- 17:29Speaker 3: Kind of well, we kind of talked about it last week.
- 17:31Speaker 3: Is there any chance that Lomu just flat out beats
- 17:34Speaker 3: out Morgan Moses?
- 17:36Speaker 9: There's a chance. There's always a chance to anything. I
- 17:38Speaker 9: think the biggest thing now holding him back is going
- 17:40Speaker 9: to be does he have the play strength and does
- 17:43Speaker 9: he have the size yet to play at this level.
- 17:46Speaker 9: He played last year at Utah at three hundred and
- 17:48Speaker 9: seven pounds, Like that's not going to fly with the
- 17:51Speaker 9: big boys. So can he get the muscle on fast enough,
- 17:55Speaker 9: can he work his way you know, from a physical
- 17:58Speaker 9: development standpoint to the point where he's already better than
- 18:02Speaker 9: the fourth overall pick last year or Morgan Moses, Like
- 18:06Speaker 9: it seems like lofty but not impossible. But then what
- 18:09Speaker 9: do you do? You know, then are you telling Morgan
- 18:12Speaker 9: Moses who you know they just talk about as this
- 18:15Speaker 9: like leader in that room of just setting an example
- 18:19Speaker 9: and like getting all the guys, like all the younger
- 18:21Speaker 9: players and taking all of those guys under their wings,
- 18:24Speaker 9: and like, I don't know, like.
- 18:25Speaker 3: There's a role for that.
- 18:26Speaker 9: Yeah, there's there's They just are really really high on that.
- 18:30Speaker 3: We lost some locker room guys last year, and locker
- 18:34Speaker 3: room is important to every team, especially you know with Rabel,
- 18:37Speaker 3: So you know, got to make sure that guys like
- 18:40Speaker 3: Morgan Moses has a voice and has a role in
- 18:43Speaker 3: the locker role. Yeah, that's important.
- 18:44Speaker 5: Yeah, bringing the line together.
- 18:46Speaker 9: He's the leader of that room now, I mean brad
- 18:48Speaker 9: Berry is not here anymore, so like he's he's the
- 18:51Speaker 9: leader of that offensive line.
- 18:52Speaker 4: But does he Campbell take on some more leadership role.
- 18:55Speaker 4: I mean he's you know, he's got that kind of
- 18:56Speaker 4: vibe to him, and just one more thing I'd say
- 18:57Speaker 4: on the offensive line. I'm just I want to see
- 18:59Speaker 4: Brian and crown Over to giants. You know, how do
- 19:02Speaker 4: those guys look? What's Crownover's athleticism?
- 19:05Speaker 5: Like that's a fun.
- 19:05Speaker 3: Little battle, you know.
- 19:07Speaker 9: I think both those guys you probably carry three or
- 19:10Speaker 9: four tackles, So I don't know if you're going to
- 19:12Speaker 9: carry both of them on the roster, especially because they
- 19:15Speaker 9: don't really flex inside, so they're really backup tackles.
- 19:19Speaker 3: Do you think with the addition of Gilliam this year
- 19:21Speaker 3: and the new tight end and all that stuff, do
- 19:24Speaker 3: you think we'll see a six tight you know, eligible
- 19:29Speaker 3: you know lineman come in or will they not have
- 19:32Speaker 3: to do that this year?
- 19:33Speaker 9: I definitely think you'll see that. That's like a fat
- 19:36Speaker 9: around the whole league, though that's not just the Patriots
- 19:38Speaker 9: or whatever. Like every team has that package now at
- 19:42Speaker 9: their disposal and it just has a lot of value,
- 19:45Speaker 9: so I would expect them to still have it now.
- 19:49Speaker 9: Is that a role for Lomu early on? Is that
- 19:51Speaker 9: a role from Crownover who played tight end and then
- 19:54Speaker 9: converted to tackle as he got bigger, you know, from
- 19:56Speaker 9: high school to college? Is that something that one of
- 19:59Speaker 9: these rookies can do, and Marcus Bryan couldn't do it.
- 20:02Speaker 9: You know, they went at their Munford over Marcus Bryant
- 20:05Speaker 9: last year. Like you would like to think that one
- 20:07Speaker 9: of those rookies, especially Lomu, would be able to play
- 20:09Speaker 9: that right away. I mean, that's what Solder did, right So.
- 20:12Speaker 4: How does Julian Hill fit into that equation? And it's
- 20:14Speaker 4: kind of like the linebacker safety thing we talked about.
- 20:16Speaker 4: It's the tight end fifth tackle kind of, you know.
- 20:19Speaker 4: I mean the good news is Josh can do.
- 20:21Speaker 5: Whatever he wants.
- 20:21Speaker 4: I mean, he has two full backs to play within camp,
- 20:24Speaker 4: you know, he is multiple offensive linemen.
- 20:26Speaker 5: You want to try to get Lomu on the field.
- 20:28Speaker 4: Julian Hill is an established pro who can certainly block,
- 20:31Speaker 4: you know, and then you got to figure out how
- 20:33Speaker 4: to get Raried in.
- 20:33Speaker 5: And so it'll be fun to see how it all
- 20:35Speaker 5: plays out.
- 20:36Speaker 3: Anthony thinks they need to round out the wide receiver
- 20:40Speaker 3: pecking order aside from aj Brown. So figuring out the
- 20:43Speaker 3: wide receiver room is that a high priority?
- 20:46Speaker 4: Well, if Brown comes, does someone go you know, or
- 20:48Speaker 4: do they let them just battle it out and then
- 20:50Speaker 4: figure it out when cutdown day comes or you know,
- 20:52Speaker 4: there's been speculation of you know, could Booty be part
- 20:55Speaker 4: of the package. I think the Eagles have done so
- 20:57Speaker 4: much this offseason or receiver. I don't really see them
- 20:59Speaker 4: being like, give us Booty, Like we we've kind of
- 21:01Speaker 4: addressed that, but I don't know, it's a that's a
- 21:04Speaker 4: that's a good question too.
- 21:05Speaker 5: That might have to be figured out once Brown rives.
- 21:07Speaker 9: Oh yeah, I don't know about pecking. Like if there's
- 21:10Speaker 9: no A J. Brown and Romeo Dobbs is going to
- 21:13Speaker 9: get the lie and share of the targets, and you know,
- 21:15Speaker 9: Booty and Matt Collins have their roles within the structure
- 21:19Speaker 9: of the offense already, So yeah, like I kind of
- 21:21Speaker 9: just would see that at that point, Like Romeo Dobbs
- 21:24Speaker 9: is in for Stefan Diggs and exactly what they had
- 21:26Speaker 9: last year is repeating itself, just with Romeo Brown comes in.
- 21:31Speaker 3: Is one two three Brown, Dobbs, Hollands.
- 21:35Speaker 9: I think it depends.
- 21:36Speaker 5: I mean, I think you play with it.
- 21:37Speaker 9: I mean it's definitely in the pack.
- 21:38Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean you don't have to put hard numbers
- 21:40Speaker 4: on because I think there's always a place for Hollands
- 21:42Speaker 4: to do some things, and I think, you know, there's
- 21:44Speaker 4: a I just I wonder, I honestly wonder about Chisholm
- 21:48Speaker 4: and Douglas.
- 21:48Speaker 5: Like that's a battle to.
- 21:50Speaker 4: Me of you know, talking to people this whole offseason,
- 21:52Speaker 4: Pop Douglas's name has come up a couple times as
- 21:54Speaker 4: somebody who they don't see quite fitting. Not you know
- 21:56Speaker 4: this outside of the building. You know, we'll see how
- 21:59Speaker 4: they feel once we get a second year of him
- 22:02Speaker 4: in this system. But I could see Chisel, I don't
- 22:04Speaker 4: know it. And again, like I'm kind of like you, Fred,
- 22:06Speaker 4: I have like a little starry eyes for him sometimes.
- 22:09Speaker 4: Again watching that Chargers game, you know, coming up with
- 22:11Speaker 4: the catch, I mean, he missed, he missed Drake on
- 22:13Speaker 4: the pass.
- 22:13Speaker 5: But I just I like the kid.
- 22:15Speaker 4: I think he fights for yards and he's kind of
- 22:17Speaker 4: tough and he's scrappy, and.
- 22:18Speaker 3: I just want to find that one guy who, you know,
- 22:21Speaker 3: he's not going to be as good as Wes Welker,
- 22:24Speaker 3: but that type of style that if Drake is okay
- 22:28Speaker 3: with it, you know, having that outlet that can move
- 22:32Speaker 3: the sticks, that can just get open and and just
- 22:35Speaker 3: matriculate the ball down the field when you have to,
- 22:38Speaker 3: I know he likes the Chunk plays, but that's not
- 22:40Speaker 3: what's going to be there for second.
- 22:43Speaker 9: I hope that that's Romeo Dobbs, you know, and I
- 22:45Speaker 9: think that he's sort of supposed to be the engine.
- 22:48Speaker 9: Even if they get aj Brown, I think it's still
- 22:50Speaker 9: going to probably be Romeo Dobbs and that chain moving,
- 22:53Speaker 9: you know, matriculate the I.
- 22:55Speaker 4: See it as the Ammadola second slot, you know, fourth receiver,
- 22:59Speaker 4: you know, the I who can expose the matchup. When
- 23:02Speaker 4: let's face it, you're going four wide, you probably have
- 23:04Speaker 4: to pick up some chunky.
- 23:05Speaker 9: It's a different type of player, like Pop is, you know,
- 23:07Speaker 9: a much different player than Efton Chism Speed over the Top. Yeah, Like,
- 23:11Speaker 9: which way do you prefer? I think Drake May probably
- 23:15Speaker 9: might even prefer the Pop roll a little bit more
- 23:18Speaker 9: just because they down the field element. But Chism might
- 23:21Speaker 9: be a little bit more versed in this offense, like
- 23:24Speaker 9: in terms of finding soft spots and attacking leverages and
- 23:27Speaker 9: like understanding all the options and stuff that you're working
- 23:30Speaker 9: with inside. That might be more Efton Chism's game. But
- 23:34Speaker 9: is that Drake May's game? Is that really you know
- 23:36Speaker 9: what he's trying to look at?
- 23:37Speaker 3: Yeah, I you know, defense is just they're more sophisticated,
- 23:40Speaker 3: they're smarter. You know, we all talk about all the
- 23:43Speaker 3: rules are bent towards the offense, and that's true, but
- 23:47Speaker 3: defenses have adjusted too. And you know, you don't see
- 23:51Speaker 3: every game forty points because defenses are good and you
- 23:55Speaker 3: have to be able to have those route options and
- 23:57Speaker 3: players that receivers that can take advantage of route options
- 24:02Speaker 3: and that are smart football players and like Evan said,
- 24:04Speaker 3: finding those soft spots, yeah, and having the football IQ
- 24:08Speaker 3: to do that.
- 24:09Speaker 9: I think that's the first time in a while where
- 24:11Speaker 9: I would say schematically the defenses actually might be ahead
- 24:15Speaker 9: of offense.
- 24:16Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 24:16Speaker 9: In the NFL right now, obviously it's you know, certain
- 24:19Speaker 9: teams stand out above others in that regard, like Seattle
- 24:23Speaker 9: of course, but like the defenses have caught up and
- 24:26Speaker 9: they they've now done some things and started with the
- 24:29Speaker 9: Vic Fangio stuff and the two high safeties and then
- 24:32Speaker 9: Seattle kind of took that and ran with it and
- 24:34Speaker 9: turned it into its own thing. And now you have
- 24:36Speaker 9: all these pressure packages and blitzes and things like that
- 24:39Speaker 9: that are all crazy and hard to block and hard
- 24:42Speaker 9: to decipher. And yeah, you know, the defenses have gotten really,
- 24:45Speaker 9: really sophisticated, and like these systems that we've seen offensively,
- 24:50Speaker 9: they're kind of the same systems that they have been
- 24:53Speaker 9: for a while now, and they need to start to.
- 24:55Speaker 3: And and that kind of begs the issue. It's not
- 24:58Speaker 3: really a Patriots thing that needs to be figured out,
- 25:01Speaker 3: but a Drake May thing that he needs to figure out.
- 25:04Speaker 3: Can he take the next step in figuring out defenses.
- 25:07Speaker 5: It's everything to me.
- 25:07Speaker 4: I mean, that's I don't want to overstate it, but
- 25:09Speaker 4: I just I think you spent so much time talking
- 25:11Speaker 4: about this and that, like if Drake May continues to
- 25:14Speaker 4: progress as a chess master of this offense and understanding
- 25:18Speaker 4: what defenses are doing, recognizing it, you know, having the
- 25:21Speaker 4: presence of mind to change plays.
- 25:23Speaker 5: And you know, having the ability to do that.
- 25:24Speaker 4: I'm sure he had some of it last year, but
- 25:26Speaker 4: I just think that's that's everything. I Mean, the kid
- 25:29Speaker 4: led the league in completion percentage last year. I mean,
- 25:31Speaker 4: he clearly was seeing it pretty well. I think he
- 25:33Speaker 4: can go even higher. Not to say that he's going
- 25:35Speaker 4: to complete more passes, but I needs to go high,
- 25:37Speaker 4: you know, I think, you know, looking back at that
- 25:39Speaker 4: at that Seattle game. I think, you know, it'll be
- 25:41Speaker 4: a great it'll be great comparison just to see what
- 25:44Speaker 4: they throw at him when they play him out there
- 25:46Speaker 4: in Seattle and how he deals with I mean, then,
- 25:48Speaker 4: let's face it, the noise was kind of like the
- 25:49Speaker 4: same it was going to be in Seattle. I was
- 25:52Speaker 4: up in the stands. I mean, it was, you know,
- 25:53Speaker 4: mostly Seattle fans screaming and yelling. But but that's I
- 25:56Speaker 4: mean that throw everything else out. That's what I'm most
- 25:59Speaker 4: excited for. But you're not gonna know till till we
- 26:01Speaker 4: get into this.
- 26:01Speaker 3: They've got the new VR room in the new facility,
- 26:04Speaker 3: so they got to get him in that lab.
- 26:07Speaker 4: Like right, Like, I mean, that's like all right, punch
- 26:09Speaker 4: up this look, you know, and this is you know
- 26:10Speaker 4: what I mean, and just cycle, cycle, cycle, And I
- 26:14Speaker 4: give Look, tom Brady's the greatest, and I always say
- 26:16Speaker 4: his greatest thing that I don't think anybody can really
- 26:19Speaker 4: replicate is just how good he was under pressure and
- 26:22Speaker 4: when the game was on the line.
- 26:23Speaker 5: That's something that's unique.
- 26:25Speaker 4: But I do think that a big part of Tom
- 26:26Speaker 4: Brady's game that I give credit to the coaching staff
- 26:29Speaker 4: for was understanding defenses and reading defenses and putting your
- 26:33Speaker 4: offense in position to expose what the defense is doing.
- 26:36Speaker 4: And you hear about Brady talking about this stuff in retirement,
- 26:39Speaker 4: about how like he knows Kansas City's defense inside and out.
- 26:42Speaker 4: I mean that to me, isn't like something you're born with.
- 26:45Speaker 4: That's something that you can be taught and that you
- 26:47Speaker 4: can meticulously work at and that you can now it's
- 26:49Speaker 4: not easy. You're under the gun, you're getting hit. It's stressful,
- 26:53Speaker 4: you know, and people have disguise. But I still think
- 26:56Speaker 4: within this system with Josh McDaniels, there's there's nothing else
- 26:58Speaker 4: I'd rather have Drake May then operating this. And you know,
- 27:01Speaker 4: like I said, being a chess master knowing where to
- 27:03Speaker 4: put all his pieces, and if you do that you
- 27:06Speaker 4: got aj Brown.
- 27:07Speaker 5: Great.
- 27:07Speaker 4: But I still think you can make a lot of
- 27:09Speaker 4: noise even with a subpar receiving group.
- 27:12Speaker 3: You know, a guy like Brady, he really had no
- 27:14Speaker 3: choice because he doesn't have that escape option that you know,
- 27:19Speaker 3: and so he had to be on top of that,
- 27:23Speaker 3: you know. And I wonder for guys like May who
- 27:25Speaker 3: have that athleticism, they have that out, you know, is
- 27:29Speaker 3: that a block to get it the urgency isn't there, like,
- 27:33Speaker 3: oh boy, unscrewed. So I hope not.
- 27:37Speaker 5: I hope.
- 27:37Speaker 3: You know, you can do both now you're the superhero,
- 27:40Speaker 3: now you're Patrick.
- 27:42Speaker 9: But that's the key, right is doing both, Like you
- 27:44Speaker 9: don't want to put Drake in a box where like
- 27:47Speaker 9: it's like you have to be this Brady pocket past both,
- 27:50Speaker 9: you know.
- 27:51Speaker 4: But that's the thing of like I don't want to
- 27:54Speaker 4: say keeping him engaged, but you know, it's like I
- 27:56Speaker 4: feel like you need to be able to play the
- 27:58Speaker 4: game your way and like you need to be able
- 27:59Speaker 4: to play to your strengths to feel satisfied. And to
- 28:02Speaker 4: try to put him in a box and make him
- 28:04Speaker 4: Brady it's not gonna work, but I still think that's
- 28:07Speaker 4: that's the ideal. The brain he knows it, and he said, hey,
- 28:10Speaker 4: you know, now maybe he's even recognizing I'm gonna have
- 28:12Speaker 4: a wide lane up the middle this time, you know
- 28:14Speaker 4: what I mean? He just he sees these things when
- 28:16Speaker 4: he knows he's going to have opportunities to run the ball, all.
- 28:19Speaker 3: Right, lasts to talk about eight five to five past
- 28:22Speaker 3: five hundred is the Hotline podcast at Patriots dot Com.

- 28:45Speaker 3: to the practices on Saturday. Let's go to Anthony in Seattle.
- 28:49Speaker 3: What's up, Anthony?
- 28:51Speaker 11: Hey, what's up?
- 28:53Speaker 6: Hey, what's up?
- 28:55Speaker 3: What's that doing?
- 28:57Speaker 12: Hey?
- 28:57Speaker 2: Hey, I'm doing all right.
- 28:58Speaker 4: Hey.
- 28:58Speaker 13: First and foremost, you gotta express my appreciation for a
- 29:02Speaker 13: Thursday show. I mean, it was like we had the
- 29:05Speaker 13: draft and you guys did the Tuesday show and kind
- 29:08Speaker 13: of you know, checked all the boxes, talked about the
- 29:09Speaker 13: draft picks, and it kind of felt like, all right, well,
- 29:12Speaker 13: now that we got that out of the way, you
- 29:13Speaker 13: guys came back Thursday, We're talking about Colin Ostis for
- 29:16Speaker 13: pleasure and like Fritz almost killed like laughing for five
- 29:20Speaker 13: minutes straight, Like we're just in full off season mode
- 29:23Speaker 13: and I'm just loving it. I was, it was, it
- 29:25Speaker 13: was beautiful. But hey, one quick story, Evan, and I'll
- 29:30Speaker 13: get off the phone. But Evan, I just wanted to.
- 29:32Speaker 13: Uh So, the first time I heard gave Akis's name,
- 29:36Speaker 13: I was listening to you and Bartha and Catch twenty
- 29:38Speaker 13: two and you guys are talking about how he's one
- 29:40Speaker 13: of those guys who was an a hole on the field,
- 29:43Speaker 13: and uh and Barth said a great line, he said,
- 29:45Speaker 13: he said, he's a type of guy. He's one of
- 29:47Speaker 13: those guys that he wants his opponents to talk about
- 29:49Speaker 13: the time they face gave Akis. And I just thought
- 29:52Speaker 13: that was a great line and reminded me of I
- 29:54Speaker 13: remember the Titans when he says they're gonna remember whatever
- 29:58Speaker 13: the night they played the Titans. And so it was
- 30:00Speaker 13: just it was and it was nice to get him.
- 30:02Speaker 13: And then also, uh So I had texted as the
- 30:06Speaker 13: day two starts unfold and those edges, some of those
- 30:08Speaker 13: names started to come off the board. I had texted
- 30:10Speaker 13: in a group chat one of the group chests that
- 30:12Speaker 13: I'm in and uh I said, Man, I would love
- 30:14Speaker 13: for us to get to get Gabe Achis, but I
- 30:17Speaker 13: just don't think he's going to make it to sixty three.
- 30:20Speaker 13: And so for the team to like agree basically and
- 30:23Speaker 13: move up and go get our guy. You've talked about
- 30:26Speaker 13: this in the past. It just feels really good to
- 30:28Speaker 13: have a regime who seems to have a feel of
- 30:30Speaker 13: the consensus and and and make you know, picks. That
- 30:33Speaker 13: makes sense.
- 30:34Speaker 3: Thank you guys, all right, thanks Anthony.
- 30:36Speaker 9: Yeah, yeah, he took number fifty, So I think we
- 30:40Speaker 9: know whose guy he is, because you know, he's wearing
- 30:42Speaker 9: his number now and Mike Rabel's number, So he's he's
- 30:46Speaker 9: gonna be fun.
- 30:47Speaker 1: You know.
- 30:47Speaker 9: I think it's going to be a player that Patriots
- 30:51Speaker 9: fans are going to really like just because of how
- 30:53Speaker 9: hard he plays and how violent he plays.
- 30:55Speaker 5: Yeah, we did.
- 30:56Speaker 4: I did a conference call with coach Belama on Friday
- 30:59Speaker 4: with Mike Rees and Doug Uh. Yeah, the three of
- 31:01Speaker 4: us talking to him, and he was just glowing about
- 31:03Speaker 4: him and his dedication to the craft of past rushing
- 31:06Speaker 4: and couldn't have been couldn't have been higher on him.
- 31:10Speaker 4: His mom said a lot about how great his mom
- 31:12Speaker 4: is and just the support network that he has and
- 31:14Speaker 4: the family that he comes from.
- 31:15Speaker 6: Uh.
- 31:16Speaker 5: But he seems like he's gonna fit the bill of.
- 31:18Speaker 4: What you know, Rabel kind of a guy, a roster
- 31:21Speaker 4: need a locker room presence, you know, a bit of
- 31:23Speaker 4: a leader. But he just it's obvious. You throw on
- 31:27Speaker 4: the highlights, you know, like this guy is an animal.
- 31:29Speaker 4: You know, it's it's gonna be fun to watch, and
- 31:31Speaker 4: you know, I'm excited to get him up here.
- 31:33Speaker 14: Yeah.
- 31:33Speaker 9: I was talking to the Illinois defensive line coach was
- 31:37Speaker 9: at BC last year, so he just got to Illinois
- 31:40Speaker 9: and I asked him at the end of the call.
- 31:42Speaker 9: I was like, I know you just got to Illinois,
- 31:43Speaker 9: but like, are there any does anybody talk about Acus
- 31:46Speaker 9: at all? I'm just curious. And he was like, that
- 31:48Speaker 9: guy's like a mythical creature around here, like everybody is
- 31:51Speaker 9: like he's no, he works hard, but he's not not
- 31:54Speaker 9: working as hard as Gabe acis. And he was like,
- 31:56Speaker 9: who is this Akis guy? And I was telling him at.
- 32:00Speaker 3: Him, I was like, yeah, rookie numbers came out. That's
- 32:03Speaker 3: what number he's wearing.
- 32:04Speaker 9: Fifty.
- 32:05Speaker 3: Yeah, wearing Mike Rabel's number. Suck up. I'm only kid.
- 32:11Speaker 9: Do you think that Rabel? I called him into his
- 32:13Speaker 9: office and was like, your kid, take it, take it
- 32:16Speaker 9: and would be to wear Yeah.
- 32:18Speaker 4: One of the other things that shoot out to me too,
- 32:20Speaker 4: that's a question from Doug of of coach was just
- 32:24Speaker 4: in the era of n I l how did you
- 32:26Speaker 4: get him to stay? Because he I mean he came
- 32:28Speaker 4: right on the scene as a freshman and played a bunch.
- 32:30Speaker 5: I mean, he's a four year player.
- 32:32Speaker 4: And it's just, you know, another thing where they were
- 32:34Speaker 4: able to keep him around and.
- 32:36Speaker 3: With an easier to get them to stay. Yeah, we're
- 32:38Speaker 3: making money.
- 32:39Speaker 4: He was making it, but he could have got there,
- 32:44Speaker 4: could have got got big money there. So you know,
- 32:46Speaker 4: it's just I think all these things pointed not only
- 32:48Speaker 4: we all see how he plays on the field, but
- 32:50Speaker 4: just what kind of kitty is, what kind of loyalty
- 32:52Speaker 4: he has to the program. So I just I'm hopeful
- 32:55Speaker 4: it's going to be a slam dunk. It's that's a
- 32:57Speaker 4: critical position. Been railing on it since like last year
- 33:00Speaker 4: of like Edges a huge need, Edges a huge need
- 33:03Speaker 4: didn't end up taking one in the first round, but
- 33:04Speaker 4: I still think they got a really good one.
- 33:06Speaker 9: All these guys, A lot of these guys stayed at
- 33:09Speaker 9: one school, the Patriot. I forget the exact number. I
- 33:11Speaker 9: think it's like seven out of nine of their draft picks. Anyway, Yeah,
- 33:15Speaker 9: that stayed at one school now rare, and it was
- 33:17Speaker 9: a unique situation. But you know Loan was also only
- 33:21Speaker 9: you know, twenty one. He was only in college for
- 33:22Speaker 9: three years. But you know he went to Utah, stayed
- 33:25Speaker 9: at Utah, Achus went to Illinois, stayed at Illinois. You
- 33:29Speaker 9: know a lot of these guys. You get into these
- 33:31Speaker 9: draft research and it's like, how many schools did this one?
- 33:34Speaker 9: This kid went to four schools in four years, and
- 33:37Speaker 9: the Patriots they all went to one school. They are
- 33:40Speaker 9: all married too. Like it was like the two things.
- 33:43Speaker 3: That you know, little fun anecdotes talk about off season stuff.
- 33:47Speaker 3: We did have a good time on Thursday. Yesterday was
- 33:50Speaker 3: made the Fourth Made the Fourth with you and a
- 33:52Speaker 3: certain someone actually took it very seriously. So a little
- 33:56Speaker 3: newsletter teaser. You get the newsletter on friday'll find out
- 34:00Speaker 3: what happened yesterday. So you want to subscribe to that newsletter.
- 34:05Speaker 3: You go to Patriots dot com slash PU newsletter.
- 34:09Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, and uh you got the Mandalorian and Grogu
- 34:12Speaker 4: coming out in a couple of weeks.
- 34:13Speaker 3: Yeah, we'll see how So you want to you want
- 34:15Speaker 3: to get that newsletter on Friday, make sure that you're
- 34:18Speaker 3: subscribed to it.
- 34:19Speaker 9: And there's some bad Star Wars takes every year, like
- 34:22Speaker 9: people coming out with like their rankings and stuff like that.
- 34:25Speaker 3: I'm like, this is the garbage, you know, it's real.
- 34:29Speaker 9: No, I'm saying like that their rankings are guard Oh yeah, well.
- 34:33Speaker 3: That's that's why you do it.
- 34:35Speaker 9: It's like, what do you This is just I.
- 34:37Speaker 3: Mean, somebody on I figure, either ESPN or NFL I
- 34:41Speaker 3: think it was NFL came up with their top ten
- 34:44Speaker 3: quarterback rankings on rookie contracts. So Drake May was number one. Yeah, sure,
- 34:51Speaker 3: but it was interesting Mendoza was ahead of some players
- 34:58Speaker 3: that are in the lead. Caleb Williams was number two
- 35:02Speaker 3: or something like that, but Mendoza was already on the list,
- 35:05Speaker 3: ahead of players who had already played in the NFL.
- 35:07Speaker 4: Yeah, I thought that was making lists, making debates that
- 35:11Speaker 4: Star Wars list.
- 35:12Speaker 9: Like, first of all, I think, like the TV shows
- 35:15Speaker 9: are separate, Like you can't rank the TV shows with
- 35:18Speaker 9: the movies. Yeah, like those are like separate.
- 35:20Speaker 3: Things, you know.
- 35:21Speaker 9: And then also then like I see yesterday the big
- 35:24Speaker 9: talk was that Solo the one the origin story of
- 35:28Speaker 9: Han Solo. Now apparently everybody thinks that that that was
- 35:31Speaker 9: like really really good and like and like revision is
- 35:35Speaker 9: history is like, oh yeah, actually that was like top three.
- 35:38Speaker 9: I'm like, let's relax.
- 35:40Speaker 5: I mean the and Or show, I mean it was excellent.
- 35:44Speaker 5: I almost want to go back and watch that because.
- 35:46Speaker 4: It's just started it off, and you were like, I
- 35:48Speaker 4: don't know what they're setting up, but they really set
- 35:50Speaker 4: everything up well.
- 35:51Speaker 3: I mean I call it Star Wars for adults. Yeah yeah,
- 35:54Speaker 3: yeah right.
- 35:55Speaker 4: But I'll be interested see how this movie does, because
- 35:57Speaker 4: I thought The Mandalorian was was excellent. Maybe faded out
- 35:59Speaker 4: a little bit, but I just feel like they're hammering
- 36:01Speaker 4: the Grogu' is the cute baby for a while, and
- 36:03Speaker 4: I'm like, we've got a little cute like, let's move on.
- 36:06Speaker 4: Let's make like badass tween grogu you know, like he's
- 36:09Speaker 4: got power, but he's a little bit reckless, Like can
- 36:11Speaker 4: we get it beyond.
- 36:12Speaker 5: Like I don't know what's button to push, you know,
- 36:14Speaker 5: like that.
- 36:14Speaker 9: Stuff, And all of a sudden he's doing things with
- 36:16Speaker 9: the forest.
- 36:17Speaker 5: Think it's like force choking somebody.
- 36:18Speaker 3: Yeah. Well, while we're on Star Wars, Rusty and Arlan
- 36:22Speaker 3: Rice and I hope you're able to get some Star
- 36:24Speaker 3: Wars talk in for the holiday yesterday. Do you think
- 36:26Speaker 3: in this current iteration, the Patriots are more like the
- 36:29Speaker 3: rebels still or the empire. Vrabel doesn't seem like he
- 36:34Speaker 3: could be the emperor, and I don't see may as
- 36:36Speaker 3: being vader. At what point in the dynasty did they
- 36:39Speaker 3: go from being the rebels to the empire. I feel
- 36:42Speaker 3: like I don't think they for us, they were always
- 36:44Speaker 3: the rebels. Well, I I mean us against this.
- 36:46Speaker 4: Uh this really this rings special for me because the
- 36:50Speaker 4: first thing that I like, I was kind of blogging
- 36:52Speaker 4: and you know, writing for bleacher Report a little bit
- 36:54Speaker 4: in two thousand and seven, and I wrote this article
- 36:57Speaker 4: for bleacher Report before they were like bleacher boyd.
- 36:59Speaker 5: It was all just free, free work.
- 37:01Speaker 4: But I wrote this article that was basically saying, we're
- 37:03Speaker 4: the empire now and let's just embrace it and have
- 37:06Speaker 4: fun with it, because who cares, you know, like they're like,
- 37:08Speaker 4: we're the empire and everybody else is living on the older,
- 37:10Speaker 4: they're living on alder and embrace the hate was the
- 37:12Speaker 4: kind of the mode.
- 37:13Speaker 5: And all of a sudden, like somebody.
- 37:16Speaker 4: Texted me or email me it was like I think
- 37:18Speaker 4: something you wrote was on Fox Sports. I'm like, what really?
- 37:21Speaker 4: And so I go to Fox Sports. Well this was
- 37:24Speaker 4: this was the start of it all.
- 37:25Speaker 5: RD. This was like I was just blogging on the side,
- 37:27Speaker 5: and then unbeknownst.
- 37:29Speaker 4: To me, Bleacher Report had just made a deal with
- 37:31Speaker 4: Fox and Fox started picking up some of the content.
- 37:34Speaker 3: So you go to Fox.
- 37:35Speaker 4: Sports and there's a big picture of Darth Vader and
- 37:37Speaker 4: it's like it's time for Patriots fans to embrace the
- 37:40Speaker 4: dark side. And so that was That was kind of
- 37:42Speaker 4: the first thing. I have actually have it framed in
- 37:43Speaker 4: my house. It was the first because I've been writing
- 37:45Speaker 4: like screenplays and you'd be like you'd spend a year
- 37:48Speaker 4: on a screenplay and like five people would reading and
- 37:49Speaker 4: they'd be like, yeah, it was good, you know, like
- 37:51Speaker 4: that's all. But then you write this and it's like
- 37:53Speaker 4: thousands of people are reading it, You're getting comments. I'm like,
- 37:55Speaker 4: this is a lot more satisfying. So I that was
- 37:57Speaker 4: when it all kind of started for me. So Patriots
- 37:59Speaker 4: Star w hors was.
- 38:00Speaker 9: You know, I feel like we were always the we
- 38:02Speaker 9: were always the empire.
- 38:03Speaker 3: I think when when belichicks that hoodie hunt, you know,
- 38:07Speaker 3: he became the now we are, yeah, we're there rebels
- 38:11Speaker 3: like Drake's like Luke, you.
- 38:13Speaker 4: Know, I was but they weren't one, I mean, oh one,
- 38:17Speaker 4: even four like they were like, these guys are amazing.
- 38:20Speaker 4: This is the greatest coach of all time. Oh seven
- 38:23Speaker 4: was when it turned. I mean you know that was
- 38:25Speaker 4: they got Moss, they started cammering everybody, the spygate thing happens.
- 38:29Speaker 3: Now it's just completely turned.
- 38:31Speaker 5: That was it for me. I think that moment, you know, yeah,
- 38:34Speaker 5: all right.
- 38:34Speaker 3: But Christian in l A speaking of Darth Vader, what's
- 38:38Speaker 3: up Christian? Christian in l A. Uh, he had to go.
- 38:45Speaker 3: He must be like his jet, his helicop jets. He
- 38:50Speaker 3: lost Wi Fi call back when he gets on the
- 38:52Speaker 3: on the Yeah, so we'll instead, we'll go to New Hampshire.
- 38:54Speaker 3: There's Daniel. What's up, Daniel?
- 38:57Speaker 2: What's going on?
- 38:57Speaker 3: Gentlemen? Hey, your phone sucks, but keep going.
- 39:01Speaker 11: Oh sorry about that.
- 39:04Speaker 10: Questions about the schedule just a clown. But do you
- 39:10Speaker 10: guys think we're gonna open with Do you guys think
- 39:12Speaker 10: we're gonna have a lot of primetime games?
- 39:14Speaker 3: And do you think we're.
- 39:15Speaker 13: Gonna be favored in a lot of games?
- 39:16Speaker 11: And uh, I'll just give my prediction.
- 39:18Speaker 3: I think we're going to open up in Buffalo on Sunday, night. Okay,
- 39:23Speaker 3: Buffalo Sunday Night. Okay, sounds good. Daniel new Hit. Now
- 39:28Speaker 3: there's a Wednesday night game.
- 39:29Speaker 9: This year, right, but that's uh's going to be.
- 39:33Speaker 3: Oh that's already Seattle. Yeah, but we play Oh we
- 39:36Speaker 3: play Seattle.
- 39:37Speaker 5: Right yeah, yeah, so it won't be Seattle.
- 39:39Speaker 3: It could be.
- 39:40Speaker 9: It could be Seattle.
- 39:41Speaker 4: I'd say Broncos Broncos here. I think that's a good game.
- 39:44Speaker 4: I mean, there's some hype on that one bon Nick's
- 39:46Speaker 4: revenge game if he's healthy.
- 39:49Speaker 9: Yeah, I know his ankles, like kind of know. They
- 39:50Speaker 9: said that it was like, you know, part of the thing,
- 39:54Speaker 9: but they had to go back in and do another
- 39:56Speaker 9: little procedure.
- 39:56Speaker 3: On will we get the max primetime games right out
- 40:00Speaker 3: of the gate, which I.
- 40:01Speaker 5: Think is five? I think absolutely, Yeah, I think so.
- 40:04Speaker 4: I mean I would say the Broncos will be a
- 40:06Speaker 4: primetime at least one of the Bills, possibly the Seahawks,
- 40:11Speaker 4: maybe the Jaguars, maybe the Chiefs.
- 40:13Speaker 5: Yeah, I probably await games.
- 40:15Speaker 3: You know, it depends we have ten primetime games. He
- 40:17Speaker 3: may never come back from Italy. He might just stay well.
- 40:20Speaker 9: Like do you count, like you know, because I do
- 40:22Speaker 9: think that like Thanksgiving is in play I think Christmas Day.
- 40:26Speaker 3: I think those are Germany's in play.
- 40:28Speaker 9: Yeah, and so those aren't primetime games necessarily, but they
- 40:31Speaker 9: are spotlight games. They are island games that you know,
- 40:35Speaker 9: are interrupting life.
- 40:36Speaker 4: I kind of like the I mean, not for the
- 40:38Speaker 4: people who have to go to the games on the overseas, but.
- 40:40Speaker 5: Yeah, for being in the US.
- 40:42Speaker 4: When you have an international game and you have that
- 40:43Speaker 4: like nine thirty start time, it's a little flashback to
- 40:46Speaker 4: Pacific time, like those early I love those early morning
- 40:49Speaker 4: start times.
- 40:49Speaker 9: When we flew back from London, we went to the
- 40:52Speaker 9: Jaguars game. Old friend Yonik gave me like some like
- 40:55Speaker 9: European sleeping pill. I'm within thirty seconds, I knocked out
- 41:00Speaker 9: and I woke up and we were like and he
- 41:03Speaker 9: just started laughing. He just looked at me and he
- 41:05Speaker 9: was like that that stuff works, huh. And I was like,
- 41:08Speaker 9: what did you just give me?
- 41:10Speaker 5: That'd be great.
- 41:10Speaker 9: Yeah, there was like thirty minutes left in the flight.
- 41:13Speaker 9: When I finally woke.
- 41:14Speaker 5: Up, it's not there. Junk out and then that's what
- 41:17Speaker 5: happened to me.
- 41:19Speaker 3: Yeah, I took ambient Yeah, I was on one of those.
- 41:23Speaker 3: It was China Air. I think a Korean air and
- 41:25Speaker 3: I was in business class, sitting up. When I woke up,
- 41:28Speaker 3: we were landing. They had laid my seat flat, covered
- 41:32Speaker 3: me up, taking my shoes off with a pillow, like
- 41:35Speaker 3: they took care I did. I don't remember a thing
- 41:37Speaker 3: of it. All I remember was sitting there, falling asleep
- 41:40Speaker 3: and then waking up. In Beijing, it was great.
- 41:44Speaker 9: Street when they're like strapped down to the seats and
- 41:46Speaker 9: they wake up, like.
- 41:47Speaker 3: What did I do?
- 41:48Speaker 12: Uh?
- 41:48Speaker 3: Tyler and Georgia. During last week's discussion about players who
- 41:52Speaker 3: peaked their rookie year, a potentially controversial name came to mind.
- 41:57Speaker 3: While Devin mccordy was a very good safety for this
- 42:00Speaker 3: for a very long time, he never lived up to
- 42:01Speaker 3: the star corner he appeared to be his rookie year.
- 42:04Speaker 9: That's a bad one.
- 42:05Speaker 3: That's a bad take.
- 42:06Speaker 9: Yeah, Devin McCory is a great player. He was talking
- 42:10Speaker 9: about cornerback, well yeah, but he moved to safety and
- 42:13Speaker 9: was like.
- 42:13Speaker 3: I know, but he specifically said he never lived up
- 42:15Speaker 3: to be the star corner. I mean, yeah, he led
- 42:19Speaker 3: the league, led the league in with interceptions his rookie year.
- 42:24Speaker 9: Yeah, but that's kind of seman. I mean that you
- 42:25Speaker 9: guys can wear semantics. That's it's what he he led
- 42:28Speaker 9: the league. Yeah, no, I'm saying that, saying that he
- 42:30Speaker 9: Devin McCrory didn't live up to it because he's a
- 42:33Speaker 9: great safety and corners kind of semantics. Like guy's gonna
- 42:36Speaker 9: wear a red jacket. I'm not gonna say that he's
- 42:38Speaker 9: gonna that he was a bad player.
- 42:40Speaker 3: I don't think he's saying that either. I think he
- 42:42Speaker 3: said he just didn't live up to being a great
- 42:44Speaker 3: corner back.
- 42:45Speaker 9: Well, I mean he was. Then he moved to safety
- 42:47Speaker 9: and was a great safety. Okay, why I don't understand.
- 42:52Speaker 3: Why did he move to safety because he's better safety,
- 42:56Speaker 3: right in this league. If you can play corner, you
- 42:59Speaker 3: play corner.
- 43:00Speaker 9: I just don't know what difference it makes. Like he
- 43:02Speaker 9: was he was a great player for ten years.
- 43:04Speaker 3: Like I think, I think you're you're nitpicking. I think
- 43:07Speaker 3: I think you're not taking the spirit of the email.
- 43:10Speaker 3: The email was he he was drafted as a quarterback,
- 43:14Speaker 3: he played a year at quarterback, and they decided to
- 43:16Speaker 3: move him to safety.
- 43:18Speaker 9: No, I understand that, but I just don't understand, like
- 43:20Speaker 9: we were talking about guys that flamed out.
- 43:22Speaker 3: Oh yeah, well, he certainly didn't flame out that. Yeah,
- 43:25Speaker 3: he doesn't go into that category.
- 43:27Speaker 9: Yeah, but that was what the premise of the discussion was,
- 43:29Speaker 9: was guys that had came out of the gate hot
- 43:31Speaker 9: and then flamed out.
- 43:33Speaker 3: Yeah, he would flame out. I think there's a football player.
- 43:36Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 43:36Speaker 4: I think there's some layers to it too, though, where
- 43:38Speaker 4: when they drafted him, I think they were a very
- 43:39Speaker 4: zone heavy team and they were asking him just you know,
- 43:42Speaker 4: not to man guys up, not to be Stefan Gilmore,
- 43:45Speaker 4: but as a free safety, I mean he I mean,
- 43:47Speaker 4: that's it's a great it's a great thing because I
- 43:49Speaker 4: feel like it's kind of a ball Noller question because
- 43:51Speaker 4: he doesn't have gaudy stats. He doesn't have a lot
- 43:52Speaker 4: of interceptions, you know, but the guy who kept everybody
- 43:56Speaker 4: on the same page was part of, you know, the
- 43:58Speaker 4: trio of safeties that they had that come for everything, and.
- 44:01Speaker 3: It looked different there. You know, in the few games
- 44:04Speaker 3: that he missed it, you could tell he made a difference.
- 44:07Speaker 5: And I mean the leadership and all that stuff too.
- 44:09Speaker 4: But I mean it was also drafted near the end
- 44:10Speaker 4: of the first round, and you know, I don't know,
- 44:13Speaker 4: I've seen guys like rossiye, Dowling was probably picked like
- 44:16Speaker 4: seven picks after Devin McCarty the next year, and he
- 44:20Speaker 4: couldn't play anything.
- 44:21Speaker 5: You know. It's so I don't know, it's it's I'm.
- 44:24Speaker 9: Just saying that, like I wouldn't put Devin mccordy in
- 44:27Speaker 9: any categories of like he was a disappointment in any
- 44:30Speaker 9: sort of way.
- 44:31Speaker 3: Well, if you're hoping he would be a cornerback, he.
- 44:33Speaker 4: Was, I guess so, but I don't think I was
- 44:37Speaker 4: going to I mean it was a controversial pick though
- 44:39Speaker 4: a little bit.
- 44:40Speaker 5: I mean literally remember he was a little bit Paul.
- 44:42Speaker 3: Paul disagrees, but I remember distinctly, you know, back then,
- 44:48Speaker 3: I think for the draft, the kind of media room
- 44:51Speaker 3: was the was the press box, And I remember when
- 44:54Speaker 3: the pick came and a lot of people like.
- 44:56Speaker 5: What, yeah, yeah, that's true.
- 44:59Speaker 4: I he was a crazy blogger at that time, and
- 45:01Speaker 4: I remember, you know, being on Twitter and Shalise Fan's young,
- 45:04Speaker 4: like you know, I said, I like the picture came
- 45:06Speaker 4: and like, well you don't have a problem with like
- 45:08Speaker 4: a guy who mostly played special teams, you know, like
- 45:11Speaker 4: that was the angle on him. So I don't know,
- 45:13Speaker 4: when you look at it, through had he been like
- 45:15Speaker 4: the seventh overall pick and you're expecting him to be
- 45:18Speaker 4: Stefan Gilmore and he had to move to safety and
- 45:21Speaker 4: you know, I but I think he's just a good
- 45:23Speaker 4: defensive back and they found the right spot for him.
- 45:25Speaker 9: Yeah, I just haven't I don't know. Maybe I have
- 45:28Speaker 9: more appreciation for him than other people. I just I
- 45:31Speaker 9: had feel like that Devin McCory was a great patriot
- 45:33Speaker 9: for a very long time.
- 45:34Speaker 3: I think I think the two things can be true.
- 45:37Speaker 3: He was a great patriot, great guy, but you know,
- 45:42Speaker 3: he couldn't They thought he couldn't play corner. Yeah, I
- 45:46Speaker 3: mean that's true, right.
- 45:47Speaker 9: That's true. Yeah, I just feel like that's like putting it.
- 45:50Speaker 4: It's fine, and I just feel like that it doesn't matter,
- 45:52Speaker 4: but it's just making it sound like you like, was
- 45:54Speaker 4: like a disappointments a fine safety.
- 45:56Speaker 5: Yeah, I really would have loved to have him, you know,
- 45:59Speaker 5: shut down corner.
- 46:00Speaker 3: John in Louisiana first shout out to Gronk and secondly
- 46:03Speaker 3: shout out to the idiot out in LA, saying people
- 46:05Speaker 3: didn't realize how tough Gronk was. He should be banned
- 46:08Speaker 3: from calling in for a week. But I also see
- 46:11Speaker 3: Devin McCarty is eligible for the Hall next year, and
- 46:13Speaker 3: I want to apologize in advance. Freddy. Oh, so he's
- 46:16Speaker 3: saying that's going to be another year where Vinitary doesn't
- 46:18Speaker 3: get in because people are gonna go for uh.
- 46:24Speaker 5: I mean emails like that made me think, like you
- 46:26Speaker 5: can't even play corner. Of course we're going with the kicker.
- 46:30Speaker 3: So you know, knowing the fans, assuming that mccordy gets
- 46:34Speaker 3: nominated by the committee, do you think in the fan
- 46:38Speaker 3: vote he beats out Vinitarry or Welker.
- 46:41Speaker 9: Or I don't, don't you don't.
- 46:43Speaker 5: I think it's close. I think it's going to be
- 46:44Speaker 5: a cluse.
- 46:45Speaker 9: And if he does, then we hit like the recency
- 46:48Speaker 9: bias has really infected all of us. Like I just
- 46:53Speaker 9: got mad at that emailer about Devin McCarty, Like out
- 46:56Speaker 9: of Narry had a much better NFL career than Devin
- 46:58Speaker 9: McCarty did, Like one in Canton and one is not
- 47:01Speaker 9: going to sniff Canton. So I mean Adam vin Terry
- 47:05Speaker 9: was a much better player at his position than Devin
- 47:07Speaker 9: McCarty was.
- 47:08Speaker 3: Who was a better Patriot because it's the Patriots Hall
- 47:12Speaker 3: of Fame, that's true.
- 47:13Speaker 4: I mean two directly.
- 47:16Speaker 5: I mean you know, I mean you know, I.
- 47:17Speaker 3: Mean you know that playing your whole career and one
- 47:20Speaker 3: team makes a difference to fans.
- 47:22Speaker 9: Yeah, I mean Devin didn't on three, right, you know,
- 47:25Speaker 9: the snowball kick and the Super Bowl thirty six game
- 47:28Speaker 9: winners and like those iconic moments.
- 47:30Speaker 3: To me, it's a slam dunk.
- 47:31Speaker 5: But when you look at.
- 47:33Speaker 9: Like snaps played like, or just look at like who
- 47:36Speaker 9: you would want to be president, Like like I'd vote
- 47:40Speaker 9: for Devin mccordy, but like, yeah, I don't know if
- 47:43Speaker 9: like you know, that really counts. Like you obviously a
- 47:46Speaker 9: fantastic person, but I don't know if that's what we're
- 47:50Speaker 9: really talking about here.
- 47:52Speaker 3: Let's go to the aforementioned person from LA who should
- 47:56Speaker 3: be banned for a week for saying people didn't know
- 47:59Speaker 3: how tough ground was. It's Christian in La.
- 48:03Speaker 2: You see how it is to be dos Vader? Do
- 48:05Speaker 2: you see the life I live over here? Did not
- 48:07Speaker 2: say people don't realize how it is due to see how.
- 48:10Speaker 11: Tough gronk was.
- 48:10Speaker 2: It say they don't realize how tough it was to
- 48:12Speaker 2: play with the hurt back because most people aren't two
- 48:15Speaker 2: hundred and seventy pounds and have to play with the
- 48:17Speaker 2: hurt backs from the beginning of their career. That's what
- 48:20Speaker 2: I said. But anyway, onto the Star Wars stuff. Yes,
- 48:23Speaker 2: I am an absolute Star Wars nerd and I dressed
- 48:26Speaker 2: up yesterday and we sat around and watched, you know,
- 48:29Speaker 2: a whole series of movies, and I realized that there's
- 48:32Speaker 2: a connection to the Patriots in this in this way.
- 48:35Speaker 2: There's an inflection point in Star Wars. It's when Kwi
- 48:39Speaker 2: Jen is talking to the slave owner about buying Anakin
- 48:42Speaker 2: and his mom. He says, I'll trade you all the
- 48:45Speaker 2: winning from the race to buy the kid, to take
- 48:48Speaker 2: the kid and the mom, and the guy goes, no,
- 48:51Speaker 2: it's not worth two slaves. It's at this point that
- 48:54Speaker 2: Kwi Jin decides he's not gonna say, okay, well take
- 48:57Speaker 2: this joy too, or I'll just buy her and keep
- 48:59Speaker 2: Anakin together with his mom. Paddy's done that and it
- 49:02Speaker 2: can just not become Dog Vader and the whole Star
- 49:05Speaker 2: Wars universe changes. That's the inflection point in Star Wars.
- 49:08Speaker 2: Here we are now, we just made it to the mountaintop.
- 49:11Speaker 11: Right here.
- 49:13Speaker 2: We just added one of the best receivers in the game,
- 49:17Speaker 2: and I don't think people are really giving us credit
- 49:20Speaker 2: for the rest of this stuff. We had the number
- 49:22Speaker 2: one quarterback in the league, number one top rated quarterback
- 49:25Speaker 2: in the league. We had a top rated running game,
- 49:29Speaker 2: which is going to get better because we just got
- 49:31Speaker 2: more protection for the quarterback and better blockers for those
- 49:34Speaker 2: running backs. We have a top rated defense who just
- 49:38Speaker 2: got better because we just got an impact beast on
- 49:40Speaker 2: the outside. Coupled that with we had the coach of
- 49:44Speaker 2: the year and the assistant coach of the year. So
- 49:49Speaker 2: we took this whole big ball of stuff and we
- 49:51Speaker 2: gave him AJ Brown, and we put a incredible receiver
- 49:55Speaker 2: underneath that can break defenses, stretch the field, and move
- 49:59Speaker 2: the chains. Fleshing point is that if we get a J. Brown,
- 50:02Speaker 2: I believe we've become an elite team for the next
- 50:05Speaker 2: five plus years. If we don't, I think we stayed
- 50:09Speaker 2: sort of middling and keep struggling to get back what
- 50:11Speaker 2: we were last year.
- 50:12Speaker 11: Thank you, guys.
- 50:13Speaker 2: I love I love love the team. I'm so happy
- 50:15Speaker 2: about this season coming up. I'm pumped up now and
- 50:17Speaker 2: I think we're going back to the to the NFC champions.
- 50:20Speaker 3: Okay, I was impressed by his Star Wars knowledge anyways,
- 50:24Speaker 3: quite gone.
- 50:26Speaker 5: He was gone a couple of things though, details.
- 50:31Speaker 3: You know, some things, I agree with some things. I
- 50:33Speaker 3: think he's overstating a little bit of top rated running
- 50:36Speaker 3: game for example. Not sure about that. Yeah, I mean
- 50:41Speaker 3: if they get a J. Brown, I think that definitely
- 50:44Speaker 3: improves them, you know, so, so we'll see.
- 50:48Speaker 9: Yeah, I mean like five plus, Like AJ Brown is
- 50:51Speaker 9: going to be here for like he's here for two years.
- 50:53Speaker 3: Yeah, you're lucky.
- 50:55Speaker 9: Yeah, that's going to be a long time.
- 50:56Speaker 4: So I kind of lost the metaphor though, Is he
- 50:58Speaker 4: saying like we're gonna give up too much for like
- 51:01Speaker 4: I think, you know, if we just anything for.
- 51:03Speaker 9: Anakin, like everything would be fine. If I'm following correctly,
- 51:07Speaker 9: I think A J. Brown is Anakin's mom, and so
- 51:11Speaker 9: we don't me. Yeah, if we don't get a J. Brown,
- 51:15Speaker 9: then we're gonna be risking going in a bad direction.
- 51:20Speaker 5: But it was the opposite he was. I thought he
- 51:22Speaker 5: was a Brown.
- 51:24Speaker 9: I think no, I think he needs you need the
- 51:26Speaker 9: kid needs the mom. You know that's what the you know, well,
- 51:30Speaker 9: you wouldn't have turned dark if mom doesn't die.
- 51:32Speaker 4: In fairness, if Qui Gonil and die. You know, Obi
- 51:35Speaker 4: Wan was overmatched trying to raise the kid. He wasn't
- 51:38Speaker 4: prepared for that. I think Qui Gon would have done
- 51:39Speaker 4: a better job. Maybe he wouldn't have gone to the
- 51:41Speaker 4: dark side. They would have actually trained him rather than.
- 51:45Speaker 5: Job right.
- 51:46Speaker 3: Well, I don't know. Star Wars is all about destiny,
- 51:49Speaker 3: so I don't think there was any stopping him.
- 51:50Speaker 5: That's true.
- 51:51Speaker 9: That's a good point. That's what I was kind of
- 51:53Speaker 9: thinking about. He was rolling so all right.
- 51:55Speaker 3: Time to take a break. But we got a lot
- 51:57Speaker 3: of really interesting emails coming in. More calls. We'll do

- 54:30Speaker 18: me a voicemail yesterday and I listened to it at
- 54:33Speaker 18: about ten thirty pm last night and started tearing up
- 54:38Speaker 18: a little bit.
- 54:39Speaker 1: I mean, it's just such a.
- 54:41Speaker 18: Prestigious honor to be inducted into the Patriots Hall of Fame,
- 54:46Speaker 18: especially as a first ballot, and to do it, you know,
- 54:50Speaker 18: after so many others have led the way.
- 54:53Speaker 1: Tom two years ago, Julian. Last year you got the
- 54:56Speaker 1: Teddy Bruski's to Willie McGinnis.
- 54:59Speaker 18: Just so many guys that are just so great, and
- 55:02Speaker 18: to be in the same category as it is just
- 55:07Speaker 18: an absolute honor, There's.
- 55:09Speaker 1: No doubt about that.
- 55:09Speaker 18: But when I listened to the voicemail last night, it
- 55:12Speaker 18: was a very special one that I'm going to keep
- 55:15Speaker 18: the voicemail forever. It's one of the only few voicemails
- 55:17Speaker 18: I'll keep for rest.
- 55:19Speaker 1: Of my life.
- 55:20Speaker 3: Thanks and congratulations.
- 55:22Speaker 5: Thank you, Chris.
- 55:25Speaker 1: Next to me Karen Gridian, followed by Chris Ryan, Hey, Rob, congrats,
- 55:31Speaker 1: Thanks Karen.
- 55:33Speaker 3: Are you on a boat.
- 55:34Speaker 18: Yes, I'm on a boat right now. I'm down in
- 55:36Speaker 18: Florida and I just got this new boat. It's a
- 55:39Speaker 18: pontoon boat, single engine. It's nothing fancy, but let me
- 55:43Speaker 18: tell you, they're the best boats and they ride really nice.
- 55:46Speaker 18: And today's my first day, honest, So I'm actually learning
- 55:49Speaker 18: right now how to park it and how to drive in.
- 55:51Speaker 1: It's going really well.
- 55:52Speaker 18: I'm already in the Hall of Fame with driving boats.
- 55:57Speaker 19: I want to ask you, outside of winning championships, what
- 56:03Speaker 19: was the best thing to come out of being in
- 56:07Speaker 19: New England and playing for the Patriots in your mind,
- 56:12Speaker 19: just learning.
- 56:12Speaker 18: How you know to get things done in life. As
- 56:15Speaker 18: a team. I mean, you learn so much with the
- 56:19Speaker 18: game of football, but especially in the New England era
- 56:22Speaker 18: that I was in, I mean, it was all about team.
- 56:24Speaker 1: It was all about doing your best.
- 56:27Speaker 18: It was all about you know, being reliable and having
- 56:29Speaker 18: to trust within your teammates and gaining their trust as well.
- 56:32Speaker 1: And how you do that is by going.
- 56:34Speaker 18: Out to practice and being great every single day and
- 56:36Speaker 18: being consistent and showing that you're there for a reason.
- 56:39Speaker 18: And the reason is you know, to do your job
- 56:42Speaker 18: and to do it at such a high level. And
- 56:44Speaker 18: then you take that What you really learn from that
- 56:47Speaker 18: is that you can apply that to the you know,
- 56:49Speaker 18: real world after that, because sports is in real world,
- 56:52Speaker 18: it really isn't. We're very lucky and blessed to have
- 56:54Speaker 18: the skill set that we had, you know that we
- 56:57Speaker 18: have to be able to go out and perform, you know,
- 57:01Speaker 18: you know, and show our athletic skills for you know,
- 57:03Speaker 18: the game of football, and now that that's gone, don't
- 57:06Speaker 18: have those skills anymore to that degree. Now I can
- 57:10Speaker 18: apply what I learned in life through the game of
- 57:13Speaker 18: football and through the organization of the New England Patriots,
- 57:16Speaker 18: and that's.
- 57:16Speaker 1: To give back, you know, to the community.
- 57:18Speaker 18: But at the same time, it's also how to do
- 57:20Speaker 18: your job at such a high level and be a
- 57:23Speaker 18: reliable teammate in this world.
- 57:27Speaker 1: Thanks for having yes, Thank you, Chris Ryan, followed by
- 57:31Speaker 1: Sophie Weller Hey, Rob, congrats, Hey, thank you. I want
- 57:38Speaker 1: to ask you this.
- 57:39Speaker 20: There's there's so many you folks that have kind of
- 57:41Speaker 20: a preconceived idea as to who you are and what
- 57:44Speaker 20: your legacy is. From your perspective, now that you think
- 57:47Speaker 20: back about this accomplishment and uh, the the awards and
- 57:51Speaker 20: honors still to come, how do you want fans to
- 57:55Speaker 20: view who you were as as a player and as
- 57:59Speaker 20: as a person and your.
- 58:01Speaker 1: Impact well as a player.
- 58:03Speaker 18: You know, there's no doubt about it that I want
- 58:06Speaker 18: to be viewed as a football player, not even just
- 58:09Speaker 18: a tight end or a guy that catches passes, catches touchdowns.
- 58:12Speaker 18: I want to be viewed as a football player. The
- 58:15Speaker 18: definition of a football player someone that goes out and
- 58:18Speaker 18: puts their.
- 58:18Speaker 1: Body on the line at any.
- 58:19Speaker 18: Given time, someone that plays a game at full speed
- 58:23Speaker 18: on any given play and makes the big plays and
- 58:26Speaker 18: crucial moments when your number is called.
- 58:28Speaker 1: That's the full that's the type.
- 58:29Speaker 18: Of guy I want to be remembered out on the
- 58:32Speaker 18: field that makes big impacts.
- 58:34Speaker 14: You know.
- 58:34Speaker 18: I'm big big time plays, uh, in big time moments
- 58:38Speaker 18: as well. So that that's how I see myself and
- 58:41Speaker 18: how I would love to be viewed, you know, on
- 58:44Speaker 18: the football field, and also as a as a solid
- 58:47Speaker 18: teammate in the locker room, because in order to be
- 58:50Speaker 18: a good football player, you got to be a good
- 58:52Speaker 18: teammate as well, because you got to gain the trust
- 58:55Speaker 18: and your teammates in order for that ball to be
- 58:57Speaker 18: throwing my way, to make those big plays and to
- 58:59Speaker 18: show my skills and to be that football player. In
- 59:02Speaker 18: order to get those opportunities, you have to be a
- 59:04Speaker 18: good football player, uh, you know, and a good and
- 59:07Speaker 18: a good teammate and and that's what it's all about.
- 59:09Speaker 18: And off the field, you know, I learned a lot
- 59:11Speaker 18: with the newing Patriots r k K, the Patriots Foundation
- 59:15Speaker 18: giving back every single Tuesday, and off the field, just
- 59:18Speaker 18: a guy that's you know, doing his best and making mistakes, there's.
- 59:21Speaker 1: No doubt about that, but also learning from.
- 59:24Speaker 18: Your mistakes and being the best that you can possibly
- 59:27Speaker 18: be and being reliable for people you know at any
- 59:30Speaker 18: given time that you give your word to them, but
- 59:34Speaker 18: you know you you grow as well.
- 59:35Speaker 1: A guy that has grown I want to see and
- 59:38Speaker 1: that when you.
- 59:39Speaker 18: Do get knocked down, and people have seen I've got
- 59:42Speaker 18: knocked down plenty of times, there's you can always bounce back.
- 59:45Speaker 18: You can always find that great and strength to bounce
- 59:48Speaker 18: back and become a better player that you were on
- 59:51Speaker 18: the field and off the field.
- 59:54Speaker 1: Than your By Mike Reese, Hi, Rob, congratulations.
- 59:59Speaker 9: I I was curious what was jules reaction to hearing
- 1:00:02Speaker 9: the news that you got into the Patriots Hall of Fame.
- 1:00:05Speaker 18: Yes, Jules just gave me a little, you know, voicemail
- 1:00:09Speaker 18: text message thing. He loves those he lives and dies
- 1:00:13Speaker 18: for him and he usually I read him, but I
- 1:00:15Speaker 18: listened to this one.
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: But he congratulated me big time and it was just
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: really cool.
- 1:00:21Speaker 18: And I just wrote him back and I said, two
- 1:00:24Speaker 18: guys in twenty ten were at Splash and as my
- 1:00:28Speaker 18: rook going in my rookie year that we're at Splash.
- 1:00:30Speaker 18: It was a nightclub and I was taking shrimp off
- 1:00:33Speaker 18: of a tray when the waitress wasn't looking and I
- 1:00:36Speaker 18: was eating them. I got I even I wrote.
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: Two Idiots back in twenty ten. Now going back to
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: back in.
- 1:00:41Speaker 18: The Patriots, you know, Hall of Fame burst for both
- 1:00:45Speaker 18: of us first round inductees. So it was just cool
- 1:00:48Speaker 18: to hear from Julian and he also just gave me
- 1:00:51Speaker 18: props and just being the player that I was, you know,
- 1:00:54Speaker 18: and just said, hey, it was it was complete honored
- 1:00:57Speaker 18: to play with a complete football player guy that brought
- 1:00:59Speaker 18: it there a single day.
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: So Julian got in last year, so I wanted to
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: copy him this year.
- 1:01:06Speaker 5: And now great moments in.
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: History.
- 1:01:11Speaker 7: Well I have to leave you, gents. You're going tad
- 1:01:14Speaker 7: early to do some of my television responsibilities.
- 1:01:17Speaker 3: Is that why you get the shiny shirt on Today?
- 1:01:19Speaker 5: I am going I'm going clubbing. Yeah, be sure to
- 1:01:21Speaker 5: turn into Paul Parilla today.
- 1:01:23Speaker 21: Probably not a great one to listen now, to be
- 1:01:25Speaker 21: sure not to turn It'll be it'd be like PAULI
- 1:01:27Speaker 21: the dancing Bear, trying.
- 1:01:29Speaker 5: To keep yourself on an allocat.
- 1:01:31Speaker 3: We'll be listening.
- 1:01:31Speaker 21: This will be a tough one. This is one that
- 1:01:33Speaker 21: I always fear. When I came in on Thursday morning
- 1:01:36Speaker 21: that Fred's waiting for me. It's like Jonathan, we got
- 1:01:41Speaker 21: to walk down to the west wind.
- 1:01:42Speaker 7: Jonathan wants to talk to you, so like that's always
- 1:01:44Speaker 7: my fear.
- 1:01:45Speaker 21: I remember I saw Fred at about two o'clock last Thursday.
- 1:01:48Speaker 7: I was like, anybody say anything. He goes, what do
- 1:01:50Speaker 7: you mean?
- 1:01:50Speaker 3: I go, you know about me?
- 1:01:51Speaker 7: He goes about what I go like being on the radio?
- 1:01:54Speaker 3: No, I go sounds good.
- 1:01:55Speaker 9: Let's let's move it along.
- 1:01:56Speaker 17: You gotta be like you gotta be like the the
- 1:01:58Speaker 17: guys on cutdown Day when they try to avoid the guy.
- 1:02:00Speaker 3: Yeah, but which on shirt? Paul? Can I make one suggestion?
- 1:02:04Speaker 5: Unbuttoned, one button, put on a coke spoon.
- 1:02:06Speaker 3: I think you'll be right there. It's a perfect shirt
- 1:02:09Speaker 3: for that.
- 1:02:10Speaker 7: Taking fashion advice from this guy from the stained police, that's.
- 1:02:14Speaker 3: Another great moment from.
- 1:02:18Speaker 5: All Right.
- 1:02:19Speaker 3: Welcome back to Patriots Unfiltered. A five to five Pass
- 1:02:21Speaker 3: five hundred is the hotline podcast at patriots dot com.
- 1:02:24Speaker 3: As the email address emails are coming in fast and furious,
- 1:02:28Speaker 3: Barton Poland says, Evan, please scold barth On cash twenty
- 1:02:33Speaker 3: two tomorrow. What do Last Wednesday, he said that he
- 1:02:36Speaker 3: doesn't expect Yakis to get seventeen to nineteen sacks a year,
- 1:02:41Speaker 3: but it's realistic to expect him to reliably get you
- 1:02:44Speaker 3: eleven thirteen fourteen sacks a year. It gave you Akus
- 1:02:48Speaker 3: averages thirteen sacks year. That would mean he became the
- 1:02:51Speaker 3: best pass rusher in the league the average seventeen sacks
- 1:02:54Speaker 3: per game, he would be the undisputed goat. For example,
- 1:02:57Speaker 3: Miles Garrett never had more than sixteen sack in the
- 1:03:00Speaker 3: season before last year, and only two above fourteen. Here
- 1:03:04Speaker 3: are some all time edge rushers in their per season
- 1:03:07Speaker 3: sack average the idea, Yeah, yeah, yeah, t J. Watt thirteen,
- 1:03:11Speaker 3: Reggie White thirteen, Bruce He might.
- 1:03:13Speaker 9: Have exaggerated, he I understood what he was usually like,
- 1:03:17Speaker 9: I feel like double digits is where, Like that's the line, right,
- 1:03:21Speaker 9: Like the really good guys get over double digits consistently.
- 1:03:25Speaker 9: So like, is he a double digit sack guy?
- 1:03:27Speaker 3: Like you?
- 1:03:27Speaker 9: Hear that a lot. I don't know if he is.
- 1:03:29Speaker 9: He's not necessarily that kind of player A lot to
- 1:03:31Speaker 9: ask for somebody. Yeah, I don't know. I mean, I'm
- 1:03:34Speaker 9: sure he well. I hope that he'll have some peak
- 1:03:37Speaker 9: seasons where Gay Macus has more than double digit sacks,
- 1:03:39Speaker 9: but I don't know if he's going to have that
- 1:03:41Speaker 9: many of them.
- 1:03:42Speaker 4: I was laughing at Bart because we put out the
- 1:03:45Speaker 4: graphics at the graphic with the rookie numbers, and Barth
- 1:03:49Speaker 4: retweeted and said, good choices across the board, no notes,
- 1:03:52Speaker 4: what like seventy four low movee Like he's like, yep,
- 1:03:56Speaker 4: feeling that one. I mean, fifty atus great, but like
- 1:03:59Speaker 4: I don't know, eighty two rare, I mean eighty eight.
- 1:04:02Speaker 9: I would have been a little more excited. I feel
- 1:04:03Speaker 9: like fifty was the only because he took Rabel's number.
- 1:04:06Speaker 9: You always think that one star.
- 1:04:07Speaker 4: He's like, I'm really liking Quintavius Hutchins in forty five,
- 1:04:10Speaker 4: Like that's working for.
- 1:04:11Speaker 5: Me for like across the board, no notes a lot.
- 1:04:15Speaker 9: It's funny because like I said, oh, like gay Backs
- 1:04:18Speaker 9: took fifty, you know, like Rabel's number, and somebody replied
- 1:04:21Speaker 9: it and was like and Rob Ninkovich, and I was like, okay,
- 1:04:24Speaker 9: but he's not the coach of the team, Like obviously,
- 1:04:28Speaker 9: interesting thing here is that he took the head coach's number.
- 1:04:31Speaker 9: I mean, I could really care less about the numbers
- 1:04:33Speaker 9: as long as the wide receivers not wearing seventeen.
- 1:04:35Speaker 3: Were good A right, that's what's Sean and Petaluma, California. Hey, Fred,
- 1:04:40Speaker 3: If Evan owns beachfront property on Laris And Island, then
- 1:04:43Speaker 3: I'm the mayor of the damn island now. I saw
- 1:04:46Speaker 3: Larison's college career first hand out here on the West Coast,
- 1:04:49Speaker 3: saw him make those one handreds in his college highlight tape.
- 1:04:52Speaker 3: Hell I bought his signed rookie card on eBay. So Evan,
- 1:04:55Speaker 3: congrats on your beachfront property. The real estate prices on
- 1:04:59Speaker 3: Laris And Island are into skyrocket this season. I love it.
- 1:05:03Speaker 9: You know, we haven't had an election yet, so I
- 1:05:05Speaker 9: don't know if we can vote you mayor, but self voted.
- 1:05:08Speaker 9: You can definitely run if you want to put your
- 1:05:10Speaker 9: name on the ballot where we're taking applicants. But it's
- 1:05:14Speaker 9: a fun island. It's like me and like two other people.
- 1:05:17Speaker 9: It's great.
- 1:05:18Speaker 5: I'm interested in too. I don't really, I don't.
- 1:05:20Speaker 4: I know, it's one of those guys didn't really clock
- 1:05:21Speaker 4: a lot last year, and I wasn't really.
- 1:05:23Speaker 9: We decided that we would allow like playing. There's a
- 1:05:26Speaker 9: beach club if you want a beach pass. We'll give
- 1:05:29Speaker 9: you one of those. You know, you don't want to
- 1:05:31Speaker 9: buy property yet, You're not ready for that yet.
- 1:05:33Speaker 4: You just better hope that if he does make the
- 1:05:35Speaker 4: team and we get to interview him during the season
- 1:05:37Speaker 4: and our thing. I mean, this is going to be
- 1:05:38Speaker 4: a whole bit we're you know, we're going to have
- 1:05:40Speaker 4: to expect if you have an island.
- 1:05:42Speaker 5: Are you aware of this?
- 1:05:43Speaker 9: Yeah?
- 1:05:43Speaker 3: Yeah, Austin and Lubbock, Texas. Hey, you guys, Hey, you guys, Hey,
- 1:05:47Speaker 3: you guys. Some people think they're Darth Vader, but they're
- 1:05:50Speaker 3: really jar Jar Binks. I think I know who he's
- 1:05:53Speaker 3: talking about. That was that was a misplay? Banks?
- 1:06:00Speaker 5: Oh yeah, classic Mission.
- 1:06:02Speaker 9: I think Phantom Menace is better, Like, like I like
- 1:06:06Speaker 9: the resurgence of Phantom Menace that it's because of.
- 1:06:08Speaker 5: The trade dispute. You know, it's like what's going on
- 1:06:10Speaker 5: in the world.
- 1:06:10Speaker 9: Yeah, right, it's like exactly the plot of the universe, right,
- 1:06:13Speaker 9: But you can't rewrite Charger like that. That was bad.
- 1:06:16Speaker 5: No, it was bad.
- 1:06:17Speaker 4: I was so excited because I was like finishing up
- 1:06:20Speaker 4: college when that one came out, Like I remember, I
- 1:06:21Speaker 4: bought the soundtrack, Like I was listening to the.
- 1:06:24Speaker 5: Duel of the Fates, which is like, let's face it,
- 1:06:25Speaker 5: that's a banger. That's an all time banger.
- 1:06:27Speaker 9: I mean the all Lightsaber Fighter.
- 1:06:29Speaker 4: That part great and they showed a lot of clips
- 1:06:31Speaker 4: of that, and I was like, this is looking good,
- 1:06:34Speaker 4: and then like the first twenty minutes you're like, what
- 1:06:35Speaker 4: the hell is going on? Like this isn't you know,
- 1:06:38Speaker 4: like it opens up with just two guys like usually
- 1:06:40Speaker 4: it's a battle, you know.
- 1:06:42Speaker 3: It was very political and yeah, it had it. It
- 1:06:45Speaker 3: was kind of like and or before and or yeah, like.
- 1:06:48Speaker 4: But like a bad version with like jar Jar and
- 1:06:51Speaker 4: bad versions, I find I kind of find it unwatchable.
- 1:06:54Speaker 4: There is a I think it's called the Phantom Edit,
- 1:06:56Speaker 4: which I think somebody went through and cut out all
- 1:06:58Speaker 4: the politics of it and just like essentially them and
- 1:07:01Speaker 4: Mall and I don't know, I.
- 1:07:03Speaker 9: Have the opening scene is kind of cool though, they're
- 1:07:04Speaker 9: like sneaking around the ship and like they might su
- 1:07:07Speaker 9: through a thing like yeah, like the droids and like,
- 1:07:10Speaker 9: I don't know.
- 1:07:10Speaker 3: I liked it.
- 1:07:11Speaker 4: Yeah, fair, I mean, yeah you can like which like
- 1:07:13Speaker 4: I grew up on Empire Strikes Back and that was mine.
- 1:07:16Speaker 5: That'll always be my my favorite favorite yeah, I mean
- 1:07:18Speaker 5: that's the goat.
- 1:07:20Speaker 3: But I've grown to appreciate it. Why do people like
- 1:07:22Speaker 3: Empire Strikes Back so much? Was it dark? The battle scene?
- 1:07:26Speaker 5: I think great hawk battle.
- 1:07:27Speaker 4: He opened with a great battle, and I think like
- 1:07:28Speaker 4: it emotionally pulls it your feel for Han Solo. I
- 1:07:31Speaker 4: mean I still remember the feeling of being in the
- 1:07:33Speaker 4: theater and being like they're flying, you know, when Lando
- 1:07:36Speaker 4: and Chew we go to get like we'll find Han
- 1:07:38Speaker 4: and they're going like that's it, Like like we're just
- 1:07:41Speaker 4: left in limbo Hans Solos and freaking frozen and carbonite
- 1:07:43Speaker 4: and we.
- 1:07:44Speaker 5: Don't you know, well, it's a true cliff It was
- 1:07:45Speaker 5: a great cliffhanger.
- 1:07:46Speaker 4: And it's the second act and it's a little darker
- 1:07:48Speaker 4: and gets his hand cut off, and you know, it's
- 1:07:50Speaker 4: just I think that was what was cool about it.
- 1:07:52Speaker 5: It just didn't feel like that like kiddie movie. It
- 1:07:54Speaker 5: felt like, oh, this is They're really in a tough battle.
- 1:07:57Speaker 9: I mean like when the door opens, invaders just standing
- 1:08:00Speaker 9: there like, yeah.
- 1:08:01Speaker 5: Jeez, that I mean that's the movie.
- 1:08:03Speaker 4: I think we know, like when you remember seeing it
- 1:08:05Speaker 4: in the theater, like any movie, and you remember your
- 1:08:08Speaker 4: reaction like I remember Mad Max, the new one that
- 1:08:12Speaker 4: was Furry Road, Furry Road. I saw that one, I
- 1:08:15Speaker 4: was like, oh my god.
- 1:08:16Speaker 5: The Dark Knight. Seeing that one in the theater was like,
- 1:08:18Speaker 5: oh my god.
- 1:08:20Speaker 4: But that's I think the sign of a great movie
- 1:08:21Speaker 4: when you just remember the visceral feeling you had the
- 1:08:24Speaker 4: reaction in the theater when you first saw it.
- 1:08:25Speaker 3: Yep, let's see Anthony about when we became the enemy.
- 1:08:31Speaker 3: When we played the Charges of the wild Card last year,
- 1:08:33Speaker 3: there was a lot of talk about the six divisional
- 1:08:35Speaker 3: game where there was a lot of back and forth
- 1:08:38Speaker 3: and we were mocking their celebration. Was the Sean Merriman
- 1:08:42Speaker 3: so good?
- 1:08:42Speaker 5: That'shot?
- 1:08:43Speaker 3: How much of that played a role into us being
- 1:08:45Speaker 3: the villain?
- 1:08:46Speaker 5: That was a good shout out. And uh, I'm pretty
- 1:08:47Speaker 5: sure Mike Crabel was in the middle.
- 1:08:49Speaker 4: Like I think first sack of the game, Brabel was doing,
- 1:08:52Speaker 4: got it started. He was the one anything that started.
- 1:08:54Speaker 5: And then it was Ellis Hof.
- 1:08:55Speaker 3: Brabel had no qualms about making like remember when he
- 1:08:58Speaker 3: caught against the Eagle making fun of them?
- 1:09:01Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, no, he's got He keeps you seats. He
- 1:09:03Speaker 4: remembers what your little celebrations are him in your face.
- 1:09:07Speaker 4: But that's a good that's a good shout out because
- 1:09:10Speaker 4: I distinctly remember kind of feeling like, you know, the Chargers.
- 1:09:13Speaker 3: Like you did you did the dance on our logo.
- 1:09:18Speaker 3: Herm is in d C. What's up?
- 1:09:20Speaker 6: Herm?
- 1:09:22Speaker 12: Hey?
- 1:09:22Speaker 14: What's going on?
- 1:09:23Speaker 2: Guys?
- 1:09:23Speaker 3: Hey?
- 1:09:26Speaker 14: I don't I want to take in a little not
- 1:09:29Speaker 14: weird direction, but I guess in a different directions. So obviously,
- 1:09:33Speaker 14: me personally, I'm super excited about Gabe Yakis and Eli
- 1:09:38Speaker 14: Raridan And I don't know, I thought about it, and
- 1:09:43Speaker 14: I don't know if it's a coincidence that tight end
- 1:09:46Speaker 14: that used to play basketball, all right, so obviously haunt
- 1:09:50Speaker 14: Henry Frank. I think in Tony Gates was a really
- 1:09:53Speaker 14: good basketball player, Tony Gonzalez. They usually seem to be
- 1:09:57Speaker 14: really good, good to great tight end, right. So my
- 1:10:02Speaker 14: question to you allway this I don't know maybe Evan
- 1:10:06Speaker 14: can really answered because he doesn't have kids yet, But
- 1:10:10Speaker 14: is there something to being a dual athlete that makes
- 1:10:17Speaker 14: you better at one particular sport versus specializing in a
- 1:10:21Speaker 14: sport when you're younger? Does it make sense?
- 1:10:25Speaker 3: It does, And there's a lot of back and forth
- 1:10:27Speaker 3: on that you know, a lot of really good athletes
- 1:10:30Speaker 3: tell kids you should play more than one sport.
- 1:10:33Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 1:10:34Speaker 3: I think if you're a good athlete, you want to
- 1:10:36Speaker 3: play more. Though, It's like the aptitude comes early in
- 1:10:41Speaker 3: a lot of different sports, So variety is a spice
- 1:10:43Speaker 3: of life. Why would you specialize in one thing when
- 1:10:45Speaker 3: you can have fun playing all of them.
- 1:10:47Speaker 9: Yeah, you know, I would say if you like pulled
- 1:10:49Speaker 9: the locker room, the overwhelming majority of players would say
- 1:10:53Speaker 9: to play multiple sports, right.
- 1:10:56Speaker 6: You know.
- 1:10:56Speaker 9: Obviously the quarterback played multiple sports, and Drake played basket
- 1:11:00Speaker 9: ball at a really high level, and some people thought
- 1:11:02Speaker 9: that he could have played basketball at North Carolina if
- 1:11:04Speaker 9: he wanted to, but he was so focused on football
- 1:11:07Speaker 9: that he didn't. So, like, you know, he's talked about basketball,
- 1:11:10Speaker 9: and uh, he said that probably the biggest thing is
- 1:11:13Speaker 9: like wanting that final shot, like that pressure of like
- 1:11:17Speaker 9: you have the ball in your hands, there's the clocks
- 1:11:19Speaker 9: winding down, and that's sort of what it's like as
- 1:11:22Speaker 9: a quarterback, is like you have the ball and it's
- 1:11:24Speaker 9: your you know, it's your game in the minute, in
- 1:11:26Speaker 9: the palm of your hands. So I think there's a
- 1:11:29Speaker 9: lot of skill involved that translates but also a lot
- 1:11:32Speaker 9: of just like gamesmanship type stuff that kind as well.
- 1:11:37Speaker 9: So I think like the vast majority of those guys
- 1:11:40Speaker 9: would say to play multiple sports and have played multiple sports.
- 1:11:43Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:11:43Speaker 5: That was another thing Beelamas said was Akis and wrestling.
- 1:11:46Speaker 4: Yeah, like he just has such an understanding of leverage
- 1:11:49Speaker 4: and the second a guy he's like, the second guy
- 1:11:51Speaker 4: gets off balance, he's going to the ground because Akis
- 1:11:54Speaker 4: will feel it and he'll just chuck right.
- 1:11:55Speaker 3: Yeah, yep, yep.
- 1:11:57Speaker 5: I need some Fred. I need some Fred Akis wrestling
- 1:12:00Speaker 5: talking at some point this year. We need to get.
- 1:12:03Speaker 6: Room.
- 1:12:04Speaker 4: We're in singlets, you know, and the singles we can
- 1:12:08Speaker 4: not do the sings. We'll attach the mike to one
- 1:12:11Speaker 4: of those earguard things, you know what. It'll be the
- 1:12:13Speaker 4: full thing. It'll be the Fred Wrestling Show.
- 1:12:14Speaker 3: Fred and Fred wrestling shoes are very comfortable.
- 1:12:18Speaker 5: Kids wore them all the time in high school. That
- 1:12:19Speaker 5: was like a shoe to have growing up.
- 1:12:21Speaker 3: Kids warm in high school.
- 1:12:22Speaker 5: They just wear them around today.
- 1:12:26Speaker 3: It's like wearing your cleats in my opinion, thanks her,
- 1:12:31Speaker 3: appreciate the call. Dance in New Jersey. What's up Dan?
- 1:12:36Speaker 11: Hey, guys, haven't I haven't spoke to you? Since Santa Clara.
- 1:12:40Speaker 11: I think I typically go into my football hibernation for
- 1:12:45Speaker 11: a few months.
- 1:12:46Speaker 5: So welcome back.
- 1:12:46Speaker 3: Okay, you've come out and now you're ready to eat.
- 1:12:50Speaker 11: Yeah, so I don't have a football question per se,
- 1:12:53Speaker 11: but I and I haven't listened obviously, But have you
- 1:12:56Speaker 11: talked at all about Celtic Ruins and Red Sox because
- 1:13:00Speaker 11: I don't respect that, thanks Boston. Are we becoming the
- 1:13:04Speaker 11: New York Yankees of sports and that we we can't
- 1:13:07Speaker 11: get pat you know, we read pretty good regular seasons,
- 1:13:11Speaker 11: get to the first round and then flame out.
- 1:13:13Speaker 3: Of course, you know, I mean we got to the
- 1:13:17Speaker 3: super Bowl. I mean there's something there I understand.
- 1:13:20Speaker 9: Yeah, we haven't had a great four years.
- 1:13:24Speaker 3: Yeah, no, I mean, listen, it's it's tough to win
- 1:13:26Speaker 3: every year and go deep in the playoffs. But it's
- 1:13:29Speaker 3: it's a you know, the last few days where some
- 1:13:31Speaker 3: tough days for for Boss the sports, Celtics first round,
- 1:13:36Speaker 3: Bruin's first round, you fire half your coaching staff. Red
- 1:13:40Speaker 3: Sox they've been a big disappointment, although they won last night.
- 1:13:43Speaker 3: Kind of weird, but yeah, it's it's it's tough.
- 1:13:46Speaker 11: So so I guess my question I usually think about
- 1:13:49Speaker 11: this in the context of the Red Sox, but I
- 1:13:52Speaker 11: guess could apply to any sport. Like would you rather
- 1:13:55Speaker 11: if you had your brothers, and I know how you
- 1:13:57Speaker 11: like brothers, But if you could be good for one
- 1:14:01Speaker 11: year championship caliber and then suck the other four or
- 1:14:06Speaker 11: would you rather be you know, playoffs year? Which would
- 1:14:12Speaker 11: you take?
- 1:14:13Speaker 3: I think I would take that championship if it's only
- 1:14:15Speaker 3: four years. If you tell me like it's going to
- 1:14:17Speaker 3: be decades before you're good again, then obviously I don't
- 1:14:20Speaker 3: take that. But if if I can win a championship
- 1:14:23Speaker 3: and then suck in four years, but you know, rebuild
- 1:14:27Speaker 3: after that, I'll take that championship. They're hard to come by.
- 1:14:31Speaker 3: They're hard to come by, yeah, I know.
- 1:14:34Speaker 11: And we're spoiled here. I'm not getting ready to jump
- 1:14:38Speaker 11: off to the bridge run Yeah.
- 1:14:41Speaker 9: Yeah, I think we're all exaggerating a little bit how
- 1:14:46Speaker 9: bad things are in Mosson right now, just a little bit. Yeah,
- 1:14:50Speaker 9: it's frustrating that I think the only team, the only
- 1:14:53Speaker 9: team that's really in bad shape right now is the
- 1:14:55Speaker 9: Red Sox. Like the Red Sox are not in a
- 1:14:58Speaker 9: good place as an organiation, but the Celtics are gonna
- 1:15:02Speaker 9: are gonna be fine. The Bruins, I you know, they
- 1:15:05Speaker 9: got a long way to go too, but I think
- 1:15:07Speaker 9: they're building. And the Patriots were just in the super Bowl,
- 1:15:10Speaker 9: so I I really it was a tough weekend in
- 1:15:13Speaker 9: terms of the results of the games. But I don't
- 1:15:15Speaker 9: really I think we're all kind of losing the plot
- 1:15:19Speaker 9: a little bit here with like how dark a time
- 1:15:21Speaker 9: it is right for Boston.
- 1:15:22Speaker 3: There's a lot of cities that would just love to
- 1:15:24Speaker 3: make it to the playoffs, you know. Now, I think
- 1:15:27Speaker 3: the Celtics were a huge disappointment. I mean huge, huge,
- 1:15:31Speaker 3: And I made a prediction maybe on this show, certainly
- 1:15:35Speaker 3: around the office months ago. So this isn't a new thing.
- 1:15:39Speaker 3: This isn't a new take for me that next year
- 1:15:42Speaker 3: one of the jays on the Celtics will not be
- 1:15:44Speaker 3: on Boa, will not be a Celtic.
- 1:15:47Speaker 4: Would you think do you think they're gonna they're gonna
- 1:15:49Speaker 4: try to make some dramatic moves in the Celts at all?
- 1:15:51Speaker 5: I mean, he just kind of.
- 1:15:52Speaker 9: I think that they always really planned on taking a
- 1:15:56Speaker 9: step back last year without Jason Tatum obviously, and they.
- 1:16:00Speaker 3: Well, wait about once Tatum got hurt expectations got a
- 1:16:05Speaker 3: little down, right.
- 1:16:07Speaker 9: They cut two hundred million of their payroll.
- 1:16:09Speaker 3: But things changed, right. They were the number two seed
- 1:16:13Speaker 3: and yeah they expected to go.
- 1:16:15Speaker 9: But I think it's a little bit like the Patriots.
- 1:16:17Speaker 9: Just because people hate what we talk about other sports,
- 1:16:19Speaker 9: I'll make it a little bit about the Patriots. The
- 1:16:21Speaker 9: Patriots were made it to the Super Bowl, but they
- 1:16:23Speaker 9: weren't a super Bowl team. The Celtics had a really
- 1:16:26Speaker 9: good regular season that was kind of unexpected. Their win
- 1:16:29Speaker 9: total was like forty one and a half.
- 1:16:31Speaker 3: You don't think they were a championship quality team by
- 1:16:33Speaker 3: the end of the season. No, Oh, you're you're a
- 1:16:35Speaker 3: green team or to the end?
- 1:16:37Speaker 9: How is that?
- 1:16:37Speaker 3: You're making excuses?
- 1:16:39Speaker 9: I literally just said they weren't a championship howevery team
- 1:16:41Speaker 9: and that makes me a green teamer?
- 1:16:42Speaker 3: Yeah, because the green teamers right now are making excuses
- 1:16:46Speaker 3: for being knocked out in the first round.
- 1:16:48Speaker 9: They are no getting knocked out in the first rounds
- 1:16:52Speaker 9: of The.
- 1:16:52Speaker 3: Celtics were the best team in the East, Okay, I
- 1:16:55Speaker 3: mean were they not?
- 1:16:57Speaker 9: No, Like, the Knicks just beat the Sixers last night
- 1:17:00Speaker 9: and then the Sixers beat.
- 1:17:01Speaker 3: The Somebody's gotta beat somebody well, okay, but like they
- 1:17:04Speaker 3: just how could the Celtics be the Sixers have beat
- 1:17:07Speaker 3: the Celtics.
- 1:17:08Speaker 9: No, I just I literally just said that.
- 1:17:09Speaker 3: Okay, but you're making a big deal because you're not
- 1:17:12Speaker 3: letting me finish myself. You're making a big deal because
- 1:17:14Speaker 3: the Knicks beat a team that the Celtics should have beat.
- 1:17:16Speaker 9: Because you just said the Celtics were the best team
- 1:17:18Speaker 9: in the East and then they just beat them. The
- 1:17:20Speaker 9: Sixers by thirty who just beat the.
- 1:17:22Speaker 3: Celtics, right, because the Celtics blew it. The Celtics blow
- 1:17:25Speaker 3: because the Sixers are suddenly this great team. It's because
- 1:17:28Speaker 3: the Celtics blew it. The Celtics admit it. They blow.
- 1:17:31Speaker 5: I could talk, I would admit it, admit it.
- 1:17:34Speaker 9: No, now, I'm not going to talk tough times.
- 1:17:36Speaker 5: That's tough po tatum though, right, I mean the timing
- 1:17:38Speaker 5: that bar I'm not pushing.
- 1:17:40Speaker 3: Well, if you keep just.
- 1:17:41Speaker 9: Yelling over me, then I can't say anything.
- 1:17:44Speaker 5: That's how it works.
- 1:17:45Speaker 9: Like, I'm not gonna yell over you like, well, you
- 1:17:49Speaker 9: don't answer my question because you won't let me.
- 1:17:52Speaker 3: I'm not gonna let you go on and on and on.
- 1:17:55Speaker 5: I'm not gonna let you make a point on side
- 1:17:59Speaker 5: of it though to say I was, I was not
- 1:18:01Speaker 5: that disappointed because I know I was.
- 1:18:03Speaker 3: That's exactly what.
- 1:18:05Speaker 5: I don't think they're that good.
- 1:18:08Speaker 9: We've been talking about it all year, Like all year.
- 1:18:11Speaker 9: I'm like, I watched them. They're they're spunky, but I
- 1:18:13Speaker 9: just don't they're not. I know what it looks like
- 1:18:15Speaker 9: when they're good and they're not good. They're good, like
- 1:18:18Speaker 9: we knew.
- 1:18:19Speaker 5: That's also in second place?
- 1:18:20Speaker 3: What's that? The revolutionary and second.
- 1:18:25Speaker 5: Big one this weekend over my cousin's team.
- 1:18:27Speaker 4: I don't know, man, I know people are like I
- 1:18:29Speaker 4: saw a lot of like the out looks great for
- 1:18:31Speaker 4: the Bruins, and I'm like.
- 1:18:32Speaker 9: Is it though, Like I like, I don't see if
- 1:18:34Speaker 9: the ping pong balls go their way.
- 1:18:36Speaker 3: That's a team that I wasn't that surprised what happened.
- 1:18:40Speaker 5: Yeah, I just I don't know why.
- 1:18:41Speaker 9: I think we did the exact same thing with the
- 1:18:43Speaker 9: Celtics that we did with the Patriots. And I'm being
- 1:18:46Speaker 9: dead serious. The goalpost moved like midway through the season.
- 1:18:50Speaker 3: Because there was evidence to move the goal post.
- 1:18:53Speaker 9: Correct and then when the Celtics choked, which they did,
- 1:18:56Speaker 9: it's bad, but that doesn't change like your outlook long
- 1:18:59Speaker 9: term of the direct the team is going it Like
- 1:19:01Speaker 9: they were never planning on contending last year. That was
- 1:19:04Speaker 9: never the plan. If they were planning on contending, then
- 1:19:07Speaker 9: why did they trade Kristaps Porzingis and Drew Holiday and
- 1:19:10Speaker 9: let Al Horford leave and let Luke Cornett leave? Like
- 1:19:13Speaker 9: they let half their rotation walk out the door because
- 1:19:16Speaker 9: of money, right because they were resetting.
- 1:19:18Speaker 3: Because it was a gap year. So how are you got?
- 1:19:21Speaker 9: Well, they have some I mean, like do we really
- 1:19:23Speaker 9: want to get It's not Celtics on the film like
- 1:19:25Speaker 9: I have? Like yeah, So like now that they're not
- 1:19:29Speaker 9: into the tax and into the Aprons anymore, they're not
- 1:19:31Speaker 9: hard capped anymore. So the Celtics can now have the
- 1:19:34Speaker 9: freedom to now make trades and make moves like they
- 1:19:37Speaker 9: didn't before because they were hard capped at the second Apron.
- 1:19:39Speaker 9: So they can go out there and do a bunch
- 1:19:41Speaker 9: of different things now. You know, they could make sizable
- 1:19:45Speaker 9: but marginal moves like adding an actual starting center, which
- 1:19:48Speaker 9: I think is priority number one, or they could like
- 1:19:51Speaker 9: go out and trade for g honest, like they could
- 1:19:53Speaker 9: do that.
- 1:19:53Speaker 3: I think they will make a big move and it's
- 1:19:55Speaker 3: going to involve one of the Jays.
- 1:19:57Speaker 4: What do you think was Tatum going to be available?
- 1:19:59Speaker 4: You think if they had moved on, would he have
- 1:20:00Speaker 4: been able to come back?
- 1:20:01Speaker 3: That's what he said.
- 1:20:02Speaker 9: That's what he said. And like, you know the one
- 1:20:05Speaker 9: thing that I'll like, I will go Green Team are
- 1:20:07Speaker 9: on because of me saying that they weren't actually good
- 1:20:09Speaker 9: enough to win. And I don't know how that makes
- 1:20:11Speaker 9: me a Green teamer, but me one thing, I'll go
- 1:20:14Speaker 9: Green Team are on, like Jason Tatum. Just like them
- 1:20:17Speaker 9: sitting Jason Tatum in Game seven was the right thing
- 1:20:19Speaker 9: to do. Like, that's your franchise.
- 1:20:21Speaker 4: Like, if he goes out there in game seven he
- 1:20:23Speaker 4: blows out his other achilles, like that, that's now, Like
- 1:20:28Speaker 4: you just blew up the next three years of your organization.
- 1:20:30Speaker 9: Like you can't do that. You can't for round one.
- 1:20:33Speaker 9: If it was game seven of the NBA Finals, Like
- 1:20:34Speaker 9: maybe that's a different story. But to get out of
- 1:20:37Speaker 9: the first round of the playoffs, you're gonna risk him
- 1:20:40Speaker 9: rupturing his other achilles. That makes no sense.
- 1:20:42Speaker 3: Well, obviously they didn't need them. They didn't need any
- 1:20:44Speaker 3: of their players. They started all their backups.
- 1:20:47Speaker 4: The coach had a terrible As somebody who watched their
- 1:20:49Speaker 4: first Celtics game of Game seven of the year, I
- 1:20:51Speaker 4: was like, who are these guys?
- 1:20:53Speaker 3: I was just like, what is he doing? What point
- 1:20:56Speaker 3: are we trying to prove here?
- 1:20:57Speaker 9: He had a terrible series, like from start to find.
- 1:21:00Speaker 9: You know, they they all all season long they played
- 1:21:03Speaker 9: like ten guys, and they'd have these guys come off
- 1:21:06Speaker 9: the bench like Garza and Baylor, Shireman and Hugo that
- 1:21:08Speaker 9: would just come in with all this energy and they
- 1:21:11Speaker 9: would just for four or five minutes spurts, they would
- 1:21:13Speaker 9: just take the game over, which is pure hustle and energy.
- 1:21:17Speaker 9: And then in the playoffs they went to like a
- 1:21:18Speaker 9: much smaller playoff rotation, which is what you normally do
- 1:21:22Speaker 9: when you have a really really good team, like when
- 1:21:24Speaker 9: they were two years ago when they had a stacked roster,
- 1:21:26Speaker 9: that's what you do. But the whole like DNA of
- 1:21:29Speaker 9: the team was like, we're going to play ten guys
- 1:21:31Speaker 9: and we're just going to run you out of the building.
- 1:21:33Speaker 9: And then they got into the playoffs and they played
- 1:21:35Speaker 9: like eight guys, and then they went away from all
- 1:21:37Speaker 9: those guys. Then in Game seven, he was like, oh crap,
- 1:21:40Speaker 9: I screwed up. So then he started playing all the
- 1:21:42Speaker 9: guys again. But they've all been sitting on the bench
- 1:21:44Speaker 9: for two weeks so they weren't ready to go. So
- 1:21:46Speaker 9: it was just it was an epic failure. It was
- 1:21:48Speaker 9: an and like the coach is the most to blame
- 1:21:51Speaker 9: out of it because he just got it. I don't
- 1:21:54Speaker 9: know what it was safe, he's going to be safe,
- 1:21:58Speaker 9: he's out to lunch. I don't know, like the rotations
- 1:22:01Speaker 9: and the substitution patterns in the playoffs over I heard Felger's.
- 1:22:04Speaker 4: Thing about like they shoot way more threes. I know
- 1:22:06Speaker 4: that's always been Do you agree with that though? Is
- 1:22:08Speaker 4: that is that I mean, is that their style that
- 1:22:09Speaker 4: they just need to pay win or is that mean.
- 1:22:11Speaker 3: They shot three attempts or they take a lot?
- 1:22:14Speaker 4: They take a lot, like I guess second place was
- 1:22:16Speaker 4: like thirty nine games. Celtics were like forty six to
- 1:22:19Speaker 4: forty seven.
- 1:22:19Speaker 5: Yeah, they didn't sound like they get stuck in that
- 1:22:22Speaker 5: they take a lot.
- 1:22:22Speaker 9: But you know, this year, I think the problem that
- 1:22:25Speaker 9: they had and why I if this was Celtics unfiltered,
- 1:22:28Speaker 9: which I guess it is now, I would be you know,
- 1:22:30Speaker 9: padding the table for the center because you know, when
- 1:22:33Speaker 9: they had Porzingis, like they could throw the ball down
- 1:22:36Speaker 9: to poor Zingis on the block and let him go
- 1:22:38Speaker 9: to work, and that gave their offense like some stabilization.
- 1:22:41Speaker 9: Like it's kind of like in football, like they could
- 1:22:43Speaker 9: only throw the deep ball, so they had no underneath,
- 1:22:46Speaker 9: they had no run game, and it was just the
- 1:22:48Speaker 9: deep ball. So once team started to take away the
- 1:22:50Speaker 9: three point line and run them off the threes, then
- 1:22:53Speaker 9: it became problematic for them. When they were humming in
- 1:22:55Speaker 9: twenty four, like Porzingis, they would just have him to
- 1:22:59Speaker 9: actually play like a post game and they could like
- 1:23:01Speaker 9: get two's out of Porzingis. That were easy buckets. They
- 1:23:04Speaker 9: didn't have that because they didn't have that player this year.
- 1:23:06Speaker 3: All right, now on bored, All right, let's go to pay.
- 1:23:09Speaker 9: And I mean, I'm making sense and you just want
- 1:23:11Speaker 9: to keep yelling.
- 1:23:12Speaker 3: Let's go. What's up Patty?
- 1:23:15Speaker 10: What's up?
- 1:23:16Speaker 3: Jen Hey?
- 1:23:17Speaker 10: One of the one of the non sequitor into Star
- 1:23:20Speaker 10: Wars again, if that's all right, But first, I just
- 1:23:24Speaker 10: wanted to give Goose a very happy belated fiftieth my man.
- 1:23:30Speaker 10: I'll be joining the club later this year. So but
- 1:23:35Speaker 10: Star Wars. Oh no, nobody's touching touching down there. But uh,
- 1:23:43Speaker 10: regarding the Phantom Menace, I wanted to touch on two
- 1:23:46Speaker 10: Star Wars things. I think if if they made jar
- 1:23:49Speaker 10: Jar or of a character like Warwick, that Ewok and
- 1:23:53Speaker 10: of the Jedi, yeah, just a little bit goofy and
- 1:23:56Speaker 10: a little bit clumsy instead of kind of like over
- 1:23:58Speaker 10: the top and like bomb mastic, then I think it's
- 1:24:02Speaker 10: a I think I would have got a lot of
- 1:24:04Speaker 10: you know, better response I did. I like the Phantom Menace,
- 1:24:08Speaker 10: but yeah, jar Jarr is kind of just just just
- 1:24:12Speaker 10: kind of makes you a sigh, like, come on, not
- 1:24:14Speaker 10: this guy. And the other thing. The best movie going
- 1:24:19Speaker 10: experience I ever had. I was five years old and
- 1:24:24Speaker 10: this movie theater in Springfield where I grew up, called
- 1:24:27Speaker 10: the Bing ran a double feature. I don't know if
- 1:24:29Speaker 10: you guys remember double features of Raiders of the Lost
- 1:24:33Speaker 10: Starks and they re ran The Empire Strikes Back, and
- 1:24:39Speaker 10: that was, like, I mean, being a kid being five
- 1:24:42Speaker 10: years old, that was it's still to this day, the
- 1:24:44Speaker 10: best movie going experience I ever had.
- 1:24:46Speaker 11: That's all I got.
- 1:24:47Speaker 9: Nice thanks Patty Whoused to do the double feature on Christmas. Yeah,
- 1:24:51Speaker 9: as a Jewish person. The movie theater that we went
- 1:24:55Speaker 9: to right, like you'd give the ticket like to the
- 1:24:57Speaker 9: person at the front, but once you were behind that person,
- 1:25:00Speaker 9: like you could all behind.
- 1:25:02Speaker 5: There are family theaters.
- 1:25:04Speaker 9: No, this is more friends, but like we would, you
- 1:25:07Speaker 9: would like time it out so that like, oh, we're
- 1:25:09Speaker 9: gonna go to this movie at one, and then we'll
- 1:25:11Speaker 9: go to this movie at three thirty. But my best
- 1:25:13Speaker 9: movie theater experience might have been seeing The Hangover Part
- 1:25:16Speaker 9: one for the first time as like an eighteen year
- 1:25:18Speaker 9: old kid. I don't think I've ever gotten hard in
- 1:25:21Speaker 9: my life. I plead the death on that one.
- 1:25:24Speaker 5: By the way, Fred, I'm excited for the movie. They
- 1:25:26Speaker 5: redid this whole movie theater here.
- 1:25:29Speaker 4: I thought it was closed, and it's gonna be all
- 1:25:31Speaker 4: like luxury seats and nice recliners and stuff.
- 1:25:34Speaker 5: So I'm kind of excited.
- 1:25:37Speaker 3: Ellen, Wisconsin, I'm with Evan. The Phantom Menace is underrated.
- 1:25:41Speaker 3: I think a lot of people were just soured on
- 1:25:43Speaker 3: it and never went back with an open mind. Mike
- 1:25:45Speaker 3: is also right. Empire is the best, but the original
- 1:25:49Speaker 3: is probably the best complete movie. The other two rely
- 1:25:52Speaker 3: on each other. Also, just remembering that Rise of Skywalker
- 1:25:56Speaker 3: exists makes me angry every time.
- 1:25:58Speaker 4: I think we can all agree on that one. Even
- 1:25:59Speaker 4: mattalls out on Rise of Skywalker. Right, that was the
- 1:26:03Speaker 4: last last New One movie, right, like a yeah, no,
- 1:26:07Speaker 4: completely forgettable, no reason to go back, Like I just
- 1:26:09Speaker 4: fan a mence I saw twice in the theater.
- 1:26:11Speaker 9: I remember leaving the theater right like angry, Like what
- 1:26:15Speaker 9: did like that was guard just like what.
- 1:26:17Speaker 5: Is somehow somehow the Empress returned? You had two movies
- 1:26:20Speaker 5: to set up how that happened.
- 1:26:22Speaker 4: You can't just save that for a line in the
- 1:26:24Speaker 4: third movie to be like and he's back now, you know,
- 1:26:27Speaker 4: gon be crazy garbage.
- 1:26:28Speaker 9: And it had like sixteen endings, like it was just
- 1:26:31Speaker 9: the space horses, Like there's only vague parts I can
- 1:26:33Speaker 9: remember of it, but it was so bad.
- 1:26:35Speaker 4: I like, it's just like that's why I like the
- 1:26:38Speaker 4: the Avengers, because there was a plan to it. They
- 1:26:40Speaker 4: made a bunch of movies, they all fed into each other.
- 1:26:42Speaker 5: There was one creative vision. Whereas and I like the
- 1:26:44Speaker 5: Last Jedi.
- 1:26:45Speaker 4: I think that's like a one that some people don't like,
- 1:26:47Speaker 4: Like I thought that was the one that had like
- 1:26:49Speaker 4: some actual creative teeth to it. It was a little different.
- 1:26:51Speaker 4: It had good battles. Like I thought, the battle the
- 1:26:53Speaker 4: beginning was good. The battle on the Crate at the
- 1:26:55Speaker 4: end was really good. Yeah, but a lot of people
- 1:26:57Speaker 4: think like that ruined Star Wars.
- 1:26:59Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 1:26:59Speaker 9: I don't those I agree that's all. The thing I
- 1:27:02Speaker 9: like about The Avengers the most is how it like
- 1:27:04Speaker 9: all feels like.
- 1:27:05Speaker 4: Onel I mean, they literally went back to the original
- 1:27:08Speaker 4: movies in the last one.
- 1:27:09Speaker 9: Yeah, the Star Wars like reboot. It just felt like
- 1:27:13Speaker 9: it was all over different movies.
- 1:27:14Speaker 4: You just given it to one person, which I think
- 1:27:16Speaker 4: at one point they wanted to and had one creative
- 1:27:18Speaker 4: vision of this is We're going to set things up
- 1:27:20Speaker 4: that are going to pay off in the third movie.
- 1:27:22Speaker 5: Instead, it was like they had no idea. It was
- 1:27:24Speaker 5: all over the place.
- 1:27:24Speaker 3: Yeah. Uh, Dan and Virginia from Michigan. Last Thursday's episode
- 1:27:32Speaker 3: of Helmets, Holes and TV History Unfiltered was tremendous. As
- 1:27:37Speaker 3: was noted at the time, Duce had a very strong show.
- 1:27:40Speaker 3: The two lines that got me the most, however, belonged
- 1:27:42Speaker 3: to Fred and Paul. Sorry Duce. The line from Paul
- 1:27:45Speaker 3: was his response to I've watched Schindler's List when Evan
- 1:27:48Speaker 3: mentioned that he hadn't seen It's a Wonderful Life. The
- 1:27:51Speaker 3: line from Fred came in response to this came in
- 1:27:53Speaker 3: response to the doctor's comment about the surgery that unfortunately
- 1:27:56Speaker 3: happens when people don't do colon checks, Fred commented, yeah,
- 1:27:59Speaker 3: and then you're really up to your elbows to pick
- 1:28:02Speaker 3: up On a couple other items from Thursday show. I
- 1:28:05Speaker 3: was surprised there was no love expressed for Mortitia Adams.
- 1:28:09Speaker 3: She was a literal smoke show at times. If you
- 1:28:11Speaker 3: haven't seen the show, there was a recurring joke where
- 1:28:14Speaker 3: she would ask someone, do you mind if I smoke? Then,
- 1:28:18Speaker 3: rather than light up a cigarette, she would just emit smoke.
- 1:28:21Speaker 3: The joke may have been lame, but she certainly was not.
- 1:28:24Speaker 3: Did you like Mortitia? That's the mom, right, Adam's mom? Yeah,
- 1:28:28Speaker 3: I did not shoot. What's I forgetting? The woman who
- 1:28:31Speaker 3: played the actress who played Adam, Carolyn Jones.
- 1:28:35Speaker 8: Carolyn Jones, Carolyn Joe, who's the one in the movie
- 1:28:37Speaker 8: though she's kind of Angelica Jelicy Houston.
- 1:28:40Speaker 5: That's what I was saying. Yeah, yeah, yeah, no, I
- 1:28:41Speaker 5: like I like, I like goth style.
- 1:28:44Speaker 3: Fred I was living. Yeah, I was living near DC
- 1:28:48Speaker 3: when Albert Hainsworth left there for New England. He was
- 1:28:51Speaker 3: ready already showing signs in DC that he was going
- 1:28:54Speaker 3: to be completely wrong for New England. And I knew
- 1:28:56Speaker 3: this was going to be a real test for Belichick's
- 1:28:57Speaker 3: powers to turn around. The non perform was no surprise
- 1:29:01Speaker 3: at all when Hayesworth quickly washed out with the Patriots.
- 1:29:05Speaker 3: I mean that was that was weird to begin with, Like,
- 1:29:07Speaker 3: you know, they would they'd never had a press conference
- 1:29:10Speaker 3: for free agents they brought in and they had a
- 1:29:12Speaker 3: press conference for Albert Hayesworth. It was just weird.
- 1:29:15Speaker 4: Bill was enamored with a lot of those guys, like
- 1:29:17Speaker 4: guys at the end that he just you know, well
- 1:29:19Speaker 4: sometimes it works.
- 1:29:20Speaker 3: Corey Dillon Dylan was a good one.
- 1:29:23Speaker 4: I mean I feel like though at the end, I
- 1:29:25Speaker 4: mean that's probably why, Like I mean, who else was there?
- 1:29:27Speaker 9: I mean, like Haynesworth didn't come here until he was
- 1:29:29Speaker 9: like ten years into his career, right yeah, like that one, well.
- 1:29:32Speaker 3: That's what he saw. But guys at the you know
- 1:29:34Speaker 3: who had never won looking for that, right yeah.
- 1:29:37Speaker 9: But he was a really good player in Tennessee. Joey Gallach,
- 1:29:40Speaker 9: Oh yeah, Yeah, he just didn't like by the time
- 1:29:43Speaker 9: he got here, he was just washed.
- 1:29:44Speaker 5: Now and he had had like with the water skis
- 1:29:48Speaker 5: or something like water. I don't know.
- 1:29:49Speaker 4: There was something going on with him, some kind of
- 1:29:51Speaker 4: criminal activity too that they was like going, but I
- 1:29:53Speaker 4: don't remember.
- 1:29:53Speaker 9: Like he fits more in the category with a waitress waitresses.
- 1:29:57Speaker 4: Yeah, I forget, like I did a lot of It's
- 1:30:00Speaker 4: like Joey Galloway, John Lynch, where Holt was here for.
- 1:30:06Speaker 5: Reggie Wayne was here for a cup of coffee.
- 1:30:09Speaker 9: Marus Thomas. Sorry, Joseph, and I didn't didn't.
- 1:30:11Speaker 5: I feel like Joseph. I think he was here for
- 1:30:14Speaker 5: like a minute. There was a I think Reggie Wayne
- 1:30:16Speaker 5: tapped out, though.
- 1:30:16Speaker 3: I don't think he made you can't like one game?
- 1:30:21Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, but that's like the category gallery nut gallery. Yeah,
- 1:30:25Speaker 4: like he had he'd liked those those guys that were.
- 1:30:28Speaker 3: Paul complains about the stereotype of Italians as criminals. As
- 1:30:31Speaker 3: an Australian living in the United States, however, I can
- 1:30:34Speaker 3: confirm that Italians aren't the only nationality stereotype is criminals.
- 1:30:38Speaker 3: The stereotype is ironic given that England used parts of
- 1:30:41Speaker 3: America as penal'connell colonies up until the time when your
- 1:30:46Speaker 3: you colonial Ruffians decided you didn't like tea or something. Well,
- 1:30:50Speaker 3: Australia was where they sent all the criminals.
- 1:30:52Speaker 5: That's right, that's right. Actually, I felt like such an idiot.
- 1:30:55Speaker 4: I just read a book about Captain James Cook, who
- 1:30:57Speaker 4: I had no idea about and basically just you know,
- 1:30:59Speaker 4: I don't want to say discovered, but was like the
- 1:31:01Speaker 4: first Englishman to sail around into the Pacific and like
- 1:31:04Speaker 4: first personal land at Hawaii.
- 1:31:05Speaker 5: I had no idea of him.
- 1:31:07Speaker 4: Not the not the buffalo bill James Cook, Evan, I
- 1:31:09Speaker 4: know what you're thinking. But James during the Revolution and
- 1:31:13Speaker 4: then he got killed in Hawaii at the end things
- 1:31:15Speaker 4: went sour. But he's trying to find a passage around
- 1:31:17Speaker 4: Alaska to get through over, you know, to get around
- 1:31:20Speaker 4: the world.
- 1:31:20Speaker 5: He couldn't do it because obviously it doesn't exist. So
- 1:31:22Speaker 5: that's my history of Ted talk.
- 1:31:24Speaker 3: First cool uh Tyler from Ludlow questioned for Deuce when
- 1:31:28Speaker 3: you were in Hollywood, did you enjoy working with single
- 1:31:31Speaker 3: camp or multiicam shows more.
- 1:31:33Speaker 4: Well, we were mostly multiicam, but I do tell a story.
- 1:31:36Speaker 4: We did a pilot once that was that was set
- 1:31:38Speaker 4: to be a multiicam, so you know what I mean. Alright,
- 1:31:41Speaker 4: so a multiicam is your basic sitcom where you're kind
- 1:31:43Speaker 4: of in front of a live audience and you're cutting
- 1:31:45Speaker 4: between the things in you sense that you know, like
- 1:31:47Speaker 4: Two and a half then was it? I mean not
- 1:31:49Speaker 4: just one like but but Modern Family would be a
- 1:31:52Speaker 4: single cam more shot like a movie.
- 1:31:53Speaker 3: It's on set, so almost like on a stage.
- 1:31:56Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, exactly.
- 1:31:57Speaker 4: Exactly, and which I really didn't have a huge a
- 1:31:59Speaker 4: preciation for multiicam comedies, Like some people adore them and
- 1:32:02Speaker 4: love them and I like them.
- 1:32:04Speaker 5: But then working on Two and a half men, I
- 1:32:06Speaker 5: was like, this is cool, Like this is like a play.
- 1:32:08Speaker 4: It's live, it's not everyone just says, oh they can
- 1:32:11Speaker 4: the laughter and and know it's like real energy there
- 1:32:13Speaker 4: they're trying to get last.
- 1:32:15Speaker 5: But one story I had was and we did we
- 1:32:17Speaker 5: did both.
- 1:32:17Speaker 4: We mostly did single multiicams, but we had developed this
- 1:32:21Speaker 4: whole multicam and we were getting ready to shoot it
- 1:32:23Speaker 4: and we're going to shoot it like next week, and
- 1:32:25Speaker 4: ABC was like, we already have the multiicams that we're
- 1:32:28Speaker 4: going to pick up. So if you want this show
- 1:32:30Speaker 4: to have any chance of going a series, you've got
- 1:32:32Speaker 4: to make it a single cam like right now, you know,
- 1:32:35Speaker 4: and so it's like impossible to doo. I mean, you know,
- 1:32:38Speaker 4: it's a completely different tone and everything. So but yeah,
- 1:32:42Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 1:32:42Speaker 5: I personally I enjoyed the single camps because I like
- 1:32:44Speaker 5: more like.
- 1:32:45Speaker 4: Movie style and you know, but I really appreciated the
- 1:32:48Speaker 4: like a good Two and a half Men.
- 1:32:50Speaker 5: I mean, people still we talk about it like that's
- 1:32:51Speaker 5: really funny. I mean it was. It was a brilliant I.
- 1:32:54Speaker 9: Think about a lot. How like I was way too
- 1:32:56Speaker 9: young to be watching that show. Oh yeah, but that's
- 1:32:59Speaker 9: as all sex jokes when when we were when I
- 1:33:02Speaker 9: lived out there, I went to a couple different uh
- 1:33:05Speaker 9: multi caam I believe, like audiences. Uh Mom with Alana
- 1:33:11Speaker 9: feris yeah, not bad, another one that one was good,
- 1:33:13Speaker 9: and then uh the Goldbergs went to taping of that.
- 1:33:18Speaker 9: Unto a couple of other ones. But the Mom was
- 1:33:21Speaker 9: really funny, like her and Alison January.
- 1:33:22Speaker 4: Really that's I think that's Chuck Lorie's same thing. Like
- 1:33:25Speaker 4: a lot of the writers that were on Two and
- 1:33:26Speaker 4: half Men.
- 1:33:26Speaker 5: Then it became like big bang, big bang, Mike and
- 1:33:29Speaker 5: Molly yeah, that.
- 1:33:31Speaker 4: One there were I mean, he's it's really funny, and
- 1:33:33Speaker 4: like you go and like you're like, oh, I don't
- 1:33:35Speaker 4: want to like laugh just to laugh, but like they
- 1:33:38Speaker 4: make it like it's like a comedy show.
- 1:33:40Speaker 9: That's it's fun.
- 1:33:40Speaker 4: That's what I was so impressed with is like, you know,
- 1:33:42Speaker 4: and I was kind of trying to write too, but
- 1:33:45Speaker 4: like a joke would fall flat, and they would on
- 1:33:47Speaker 4: the fly have a huddle of writers, and the writers.
- 1:33:50Speaker 5: Would be like, how about this, how about this, how
- 1:33:51Speaker 5: about this? You know, it's like just how sharp these
- 1:33:53Speaker 5: guys were to come up with those jokes. And then
- 1:33:56Speaker 5: they'd are, yeah, yeah that's the one. Let's use that one.
- 1:33:58Speaker 4: And then you know that would entertain the crowd of
- 1:34:01Speaker 4: METWO and takes all right, pretend like you haven't seen
- 1:34:02Speaker 4: it before, and then they try the new joke and
- 1:34:04Speaker 4: see what that reaction was like. And you know, they
- 1:34:06Speaker 4: definitely pump the laughter and sometimes to make it sound uniform,
- 1:34:09Speaker 4: but it wasn't like I always kind of in my
- 1:34:11Speaker 4: mind was like they just shoot it in a quiet
- 1:34:13Speaker 4: room and then they go and they plug in fake
- 1:34:16Speaker 4: laughter and it's it's not that at all. My laugh
- 1:34:18Speaker 4: is in some laugh tracks.
- 1:34:19Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:34:20Speaker 9: But then there's also like there's like this like group
- 1:34:23Speaker 9: of like probably moms that we're sitting next to us,
- 1:34:26Speaker 9: and there's one woman had this like cackle, like just
- 1:34:28Speaker 9: like one of those real cackles, and and I watched
- 1:34:32Speaker 9: the episode and I knew it was the episode that
- 1:34:34Speaker 9: we went to. All you could hear was her.
- 1:34:36Speaker 3: Do you think they play some of these people like
- 1:34:38Speaker 3: she's a good laughter?
- 1:34:39Speaker 6: You know?
- 1:34:40Speaker 5: No, But there's definitely times when you're like, it's a
- 1:34:42Speaker 5: great audience tonight. There's you know a lot of good laughers.
- 1:34:45Speaker 4: And I mean usually they'll have someone entertaining them doing
- 1:34:48Speaker 4: like magic tricks or hypnosis sometimes, or you know, just
- 1:34:51Speaker 4: somebody to keep it moving, cause it it can get tedious.
- 1:34:54Speaker 4: Like I hate being on set generally speaking, Like I
- 1:34:56Speaker 4: just find shooting stuff being so exhausting, like adding the
- 1:35:00Speaker 4: lights up and.
- 1:35:01Speaker 5: Then the camera is not a hurry up and wait,
- 1:35:03Speaker 5: a hurry up and wait of it all.
- 1:35:05Speaker 4: But what I love best about to at Memo was
- 1:35:07Speaker 4: at a certain point when it was successful is they
- 1:35:09Speaker 4: started bringing in katsu, yeah, which is like, you know,
- 1:35:11Speaker 4: the best sushi place in LA and no one would
- 1:35:14Speaker 4: eat it.
- 1:35:14Speaker 5: So I would go into the cream.
- 1:35:15Speaker 4: Room, you know, all these network executives, and I mean
- 1:35:18Speaker 4: like walking out with this giant place like crab hand rolls,
- 1:35:21Speaker 4: Krispy Rice, Tuna, you know, all the all the katsu
- 1:35:23Speaker 4: Yat hits.
- 1:35:25Speaker 5: But that's yeah, it's good stuff.
- 1:35:26Speaker 9: I was Finn, don't don't go to the prices, right,
- 1:35:29Speaker 9: but oh my god, we waited all day evn, Oh
- 1:35:32Speaker 9: my god. And like you're you know, you can't like
- 1:35:35Speaker 9: go on your phone or anything, so you just they
- 1:35:37Speaker 9: tell you to like bring like entertainment cards or a
- 1:35:40Speaker 9: book or like something to like, and like you just
- 1:35:43Speaker 9: I think we got there at like eight or eight
- 1:35:45Speaker 9: thirty in the morning and it didn't shoot till three thirty,
- 1:35:48Speaker 9: and we just for that entire time, we were just
- 1:35:50Speaker 9: sitting around.
- 1:35:51Speaker 5: But you were in the mix to get called up.
- 1:35:53Speaker 9: I was in the crowd.
- 1:35:54Speaker 15: Yeah.
- 1:35:55Speaker 4: Which is there a difference between people who can go
- 1:35:57Speaker 4: up and get called and just a general crowd.
- 1:35:59Speaker 9: No, it's it's really random one of the same.
- 1:36:01Speaker 3: And so we I went.
- 1:36:03Speaker 9: This is when I was out there with school, and
- 1:36:05Speaker 9: we went like as a group. It was school and
- 1:36:08Speaker 9: one of my friends that was in the group got
- 1:36:10Speaker 9: she got on the show. Yeah, yeah, and so, but
- 1:36:13Speaker 9: that was she was the only one out of all
- 1:36:14Speaker 9: of us.
- 1:36:15Speaker 4: If you got on, would you be the guy who, like,
- 1:36:17Speaker 4: let's say Fred goes five hundred dollars five oh one,
- 1:36:20Speaker 4: oh yeah, the person who goes.
- 1:36:21Speaker 5: One dollar more whatever, eliminate one person whatever, such.
- 1:36:25Speaker 4: A Dick movie or the one one dollar one dollar
- 1:36:29Speaker 4: Drew instead, Uh, this is Tyler still instead of father Fred.
- 1:36:34Speaker 3: I would much rather see a pfw PU sitcom series
- 1:36:37Speaker 3: complete with a live studio audience in laugh track for
- 1:36:41Speaker 3: an authentic eighty nineties feel. I could see Andy flexing
- 1:36:44Speaker 3: every time he comes on screen, Deuce bursting in through
- 1:36:47Speaker 3: a door like Kramer and Evan with a well the
- 1:36:50Speaker 3: analytics say catchphrase, yeah her love love a good sitcom.
- 1:36:56Speaker 4: I mean, I know Paul watches the sitcoms now, I
- 1:36:58Speaker 4: don't really watch that much. Sick All still consumes network
- 1:37:01Speaker 4: television in a way.
- 1:37:02Speaker 3: Yeah, never did, because it's easiest. He loves like it's
- 1:37:06Speaker 3: it's easy.
- 1:37:06Speaker 9: We only watch like a couple of not we watch
- 1:37:08Speaker 9: Abbot Elementary. I guess that's technically a sick single cam
- 1:37:11Speaker 9: ye by a single camp, But that one's funny.
- 1:37:13Speaker 5: Do you guys like procedurals though, like c S. I
- 1:37:16Speaker 5: like the you know, Law and Orders of the World.
- 1:37:17Speaker 3: I like the original Law and Order. Yeah, I really
- 1:37:20Speaker 3: like that. I don't watch a lot of you know,
- 1:37:23Speaker 3: serial TV or or you know, it's it's either sports
- 1:37:27Speaker 3: or something like The Boys, Yeah, you know which, by
- 1:37:30Speaker 3: the way, I'm watching them on episode five of the last.
- 1:37:34Speaker 5: I've seen some bad, bad reviews of it. Really, I
- 1:37:36Speaker 5: don't know.
- 1:37:36Speaker 4: I haven't watched it since like seasons, I'm having fun.
- 1:37:40Speaker 4: I'm still watching Hacks though, which if anybody that is excellent,
- 1:37:44Speaker 4: I think it's Do you watch.
- 1:37:45Speaker 9: Rooster U Roosters, Steve Carrell's new show on HBO really good?
- 1:37:50Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:37:51Speaker 9: Yeah, we watched quite a bit of TV like these
- 1:37:54Speaker 9: days because there's no sports to watch anymore. So, but
- 1:37:58Speaker 9: we watched uh, Running Point, which is a basketball adjacent show,
- 1:38:02Speaker 9: which was cool on Netflix. That's what's her name? I
- 1:38:08Speaker 9: forget her name, but it's a pretty good cast.
- 1:38:11Speaker 5: Yeah, and that one's good.
- 1:38:13Speaker 9: The only network TV show we watch is Abbot Elementary
- 1:38:17Speaker 9: and High Potential because they always Yeah.
- 1:38:21Speaker 8: Nobody's watching Real Housewives of Rhode Island.
- 1:38:23Speaker 5: I've watched a little of Real Housewives Island of course
- 1:38:26Speaker 5: I visited Jared's.
- 1:38:27Speaker 3: It's amazing, can't stop amazingly bad.
- 1:38:29Speaker 8: It's so bad, it's hilarious. You know any of the
- 1:38:32Speaker 8: girl No, I don't know, no, but they do remind
- 1:38:35Speaker 8: me of family members.
- 1:38:35Speaker 3: I just think all these shows, it's just the worst
- 1:38:38Speaker 3: of us, the worst.
- 1:38:40Speaker 4: It all started with with Laguna Beach, where like you
- 1:38:43Speaker 4: took like you kind of blended the reality and the
- 1:38:46Speaker 4: soap opera of it.
- 1:38:47Speaker 5: So it's like, yeah, they're real people, but.
- 1:38:49Speaker 9: That's what we're big ninety day fiance people like the
- 1:38:53Speaker 9: whole the whole world, and like I'm sometimes I literally
- 1:38:56Speaker 9: am like is this really, Like this really happened to
- 1:38:58Speaker 9: these people? Like and when one storyline they like had
- 1:39:03Speaker 9: like an open marriage and she gets pregnant with the
- 1:39:06Speaker 9: other guy, and I'm like, there's no way plus twist,
- 1:39:11Speaker 9: it just actually happened to like.
- 1:39:13Speaker 4: A pretty interesting like pitch in the story room of
- 1:39:15Speaker 4: like so we got an idea for this week, i'ma, you.
- 1:39:18Speaker 5: Get pregnant by the other guy.
- 1:39:19Speaker 9: I mean it was It's hilarious. Yea, the crash you see,
- 1:39:22Speaker 9: Monica Selis.
- 1:39:23Speaker 4: Is back, Freddie, She's got an ad for Vigart whatever
- 1:39:25Speaker 4: that might be, but I didn't see Monica Slis in
- 1:39:27Speaker 4: a while year old.
- 1:39:28Speaker 5: Huh remember her all Hit scream.
- 1:39:32Speaker 3: She was, Yes, she was one of the original screamers. Yeah, yep,
- 1:39:35Speaker 3: I hate that. Dan and Virginia Michigan has a correction.
- 1:39:40Speaker 3: He says not all the criminals got sent to Australia.
- 1:39:44Speaker 3: Between seventeen eighteen and seventy eighteen seventy five, over fifty
- 1:39:49Speaker 3: two thousand convicts were transported from the British Isles to America.
- 1:39:53Speaker 3: It is estimated that convicts made up a quarter of
- 1:39:56Speaker 3: the British immigrants to colonial America in the eighteenth century.
- 1:40:00Speaker 3: So okay, and I explains a lot. Okay.
- 1:40:04Speaker 9: I think one of the coolest things that we did
- 1:40:07Speaker 9: in San Francisco is going to uh Alcatraz.
- 1:40:11Speaker 3: I was just so cool.
- 1:40:13Speaker 5: We ran into PU listeners there. Yeah there, I feel
- 1:40:16Speaker 5: like this guy kind of.
- 1:40:18Speaker 4: Yes, they should have been two really nice guys from England,
- 1:40:22Speaker 4: and you know, I mean this is new to me,
- 1:40:24Speaker 4: but you start to feel like someone's like staring you
- 1:40:25Speaker 4: at you and I keep looking at him and like,
- 1:40:27Speaker 4: I think this guy might might know who we are.
- 1:40:29Speaker 5: But they came over. There were super nice guys but
- 1:40:31Speaker 5: Alcatraz I was I just thought was so cool.
- 1:40:34Speaker 4: I mean, just to be like it's not that big,
- 1:40:36Speaker 4: like you think Alcatraz a prison and there's all these
- 1:40:38Speaker 4: different wings and things. It's like one kind of big
- 1:40:40Speaker 4: warehouse where the actual prisoners were.
- 1:40:43Speaker 5: It's all right there, you know.
- 1:40:44Speaker 4: I just and they're like and in this one there
- 1:40:46Speaker 4: was a shootout and this guy died, and this one
- 1:40:48Speaker 4: is where they dug out.
- 1:40:49Speaker 5: You know, like everything happened right there. But it was
- 1:40:51Speaker 5: it was really cool. If you have a chance to go.
- 1:40:53Speaker 9: Out there, it was incredible and I think it's cool, Like,
- 1:40:56Speaker 9: you know, my whole time, I'm thinking like, okay, how
- 1:40:58Speaker 9: would I try to escape?
- 1:41:00Speaker 3: Could you even think about it?
- 1:41:00Speaker 5: And I escape that round?
- 1:41:01Speaker 9: Once we were in there, I was like no, like no,
- 1:41:04Speaker 9: wonder why nobody actually like did it? Like this is impossible, like.
- 1:41:07Speaker 4: The and like the guy, I mean, did you ever
- 1:41:09Speaker 4: see like Escape from Alcatraz that movie where like the
- 1:41:11Speaker 4: Clint Eastwood and stuff, and you know you see him
- 1:41:12Speaker 4: dig out, but you realize like they're digging into an
- 1:41:15Speaker 4: area that's like between the cells.
- 1:41:17Speaker 5: This big like right there, Like I just how you
- 1:41:19Speaker 5: could possibly and then you have to.
- 1:41:21Speaker 9: Make it like all the way down to the water,
- 1:41:24Speaker 9: which is like you're breathing air for maybe like ten
- 1:41:28Speaker 9: minutes before they they are like on you.
- 1:41:30Speaker 5: Yeah, like there's no way that.
- 1:41:31Speaker 4: The other interesting thing they said, which I never quite
- 1:41:33Speaker 4: put together, was like part of what was tough about
- 1:41:36Speaker 4: Alcatraz was that you could see San Francisco in life
- 1:41:38Speaker 4: going on right there. So it's so torture for the
- 1:41:41Speaker 4: prisoners to have to set there and watch it all
- 1:41:43Speaker 4: all go.
- 1:41:45Speaker 3: I thought to me, the thing that got me the
- 1:41:47Speaker 3: most was when we went to the solitary confinement area. Yeah,
- 1:41:51Speaker 3: oh my god. Yeah, imagining being in there.
- 1:41:54Speaker 4: I know, dark end of the thing, like you could
- 1:41:57Speaker 4: see it was like purposely all blacked out and like
- 1:41:59Speaker 4: the double doors.
- 1:42:00Speaker 5: Yeah, and like just sitting in the dark.
- 1:42:02Speaker 8: All I wanted to see was the furnest Sean Connery
- 1:42:04Speaker 8: roll back and forth through. They would not show it
- 1:42:06Speaker 8: to us.
- 1:42:07Speaker 5: That was morell the whole time. I'm like, if anybody
- 1:42:09Speaker 5: hears this, Welcome to the Rock.
- 1:42:11Speaker 9: It was great.
- 1:42:13Speaker 3: Matt and Devin Uk. I'm so glad that I listened
- 1:42:16Speaker 3: almost exclusively to PU and Catch twenty two. I needed
- 1:42:19Speaker 3: an extra podcast to listen to the other day and
- 1:42:21Speaker 3: came across Giardi's and he had Badard on. I've never
- 1:42:24Speaker 3: listened to Badard before, but what an idiot. That's me.
- 1:42:30Speaker 3: We're all friends of great Badar. He was talking about
- 1:42:33Speaker 3: the Actus pick and he was saying that he won't
- 1:42:36Speaker 3: be a three down player, just a situational pass rusher,
- 1:42:39Speaker 3: and that he'll be competing with Swinson to be the
- 1:42:42Speaker 3: fourth or fifth rusher. I'm never straying from my PU
- 1:42:45Speaker 3: and Catch twenty two crew again. See I feel like
- 1:42:48Speaker 3: it's I feel like I wonder if that's what he
- 1:42:50Speaker 3: actually said. If he's a situational player, I figured it's
- 1:42:53Speaker 3: going to be early down in situations, not pass for
- 1:42:55Speaker 3: our situations. Like if he's going to be if that's
- 1:42:58Speaker 3: going to happen to him and he doesn't less say,
- 1:43:00Speaker 3: an't completely pan out like as a rugged edge setter
- 1:43:03Speaker 3: on like like Anthony Jennings role type of player that
- 1:43:08Speaker 3: the the questions that I have with him is actually
- 1:43:10Speaker 3: like does he have the burst and the bend and
- 1:43:13Speaker 3: the fluidity as a pass rusher to be like a
- 1:43:15Speaker 3: true double digit sack guy like we were talking about earlier,
- 1:43:19Speaker 3: not not the That was what.
- 1:43:20Speaker 4: I directly asked coach Beelman when I talked to him,
- 1:43:24Speaker 4: was you know, what do you think he needs to
- 1:43:25Speaker 4: do to become a three down player? And he kind
- 1:43:27Speaker 4: of didn't really answer the question. He brought up, like
- 1:43:30Speaker 4: John Simon talking about the edges set back.
- 1:43:33Speaker 5: When he was here. Yeah, so I think I think
- 1:43:36Speaker 5: he agrees with you. I think that, but I agree.
- 1:43:38Speaker 4: I mean it's you know, I don't see the comparisons
- 1:43:40Speaker 4: to Keyon White, but I think part of the reason
- 1:43:42Speaker 4: Keyon White couldn't really do it is he didn't have
- 1:43:44Speaker 4: an array of moves.
- 1:43:45Speaker 5: It was kind of one thing.
- 1:43:46Speaker 4: And you know, I think Acus is a better player
- 1:43:48Speaker 4: and a more explosive player and a more bendy ish player.
- 1:43:51Speaker 5: But I think you're right, He's he gonna be able
- 1:43:53Speaker 5: to get the edge on guys.
- 1:43:55Speaker 9: Yeah, like his speed and his ability to bend, Like
- 1:43:58Speaker 9: is that good enough to third down that you want?
- 1:44:01Speaker 4: Now?
- 1:44:01Speaker 9: He's great on stunts. Yeah, So if they're gonna run
- 1:44:04Speaker 9: a bunch of games and stuff up front, then like
- 1:44:07Speaker 9: they might not need him to just go one on
- 1:44:09Speaker 9: one on a tackle to get to the quarterback. But uh,
- 1:44:13Speaker 9: if it if he doesn't completely hit his ceiling, then
- 1:44:16Speaker 9: I think of him more as like an Andredy Jennings
- 1:44:18Speaker 9: type of player then like.
- 1:44:20Speaker 5: Wasn't the dominant pass but can still get you. I
- 1:44:22Speaker 5: mean those guys. He can get by with those guys.
- 1:44:24Speaker 5: I mean, you know, the MVP of the Super Bowls
- 1:44:26Speaker 5: are running back.
- 1:44:27Speaker 3: So spiin Fresno says, I don't watch much college football,
- 1:44:31Speaker 3: so I'd appreciate if you'd shed light on the knock
- 1:44:33Speaker 3: on Drake coming out of college, about him putting up
- 1:44:36Speaker 3: good numbers but not winning as much as you'd expect.
- 1:44:38Speaker 3: I remain concerned that we saw something of that in
- 1:44:41Speaker 3: the playoffs, but welcome put welcome pushback on that take. Well,
- 1:44:45Speaker 3: I mean he played at North Carolina.
- 1:44:47Speaker 9: Yeah, I mean so his I would say, like, you know,
- 1:44:52Speaker 9: that's a long winted answer, but like his biggest knock
- 1:44:54Speaker 9: was consistency in college, like he would because of his mechanics,
- 1:44:58Speaker 9: because of his footwork, he was he was wildly inconsistent,
- 1:45:01Speaker 9: but he would have like these stretches of games or
- 1:45:04Speaker 9: if you made like a highlight tape of Drake May's
- 1:45:07Speaker 9: best plays in college, it was better than anybody else's
- 1:45:09Speaker 9: in college. But we weren't sure if he was going
- 1:45:12Speaker 9: to be able to consistently put it all together. His
- 1:45:15Speaker 9: sophomore season at North Carolina, they were good, their top
- 1:45:18Speaker 9: twenty five team. They went to the a SEC championship game.
- 1:45:21Speaker 9: They got blown out by I think it was Miami
- 1:45:23Speaker 9: or Oregon or one of those schools. I think Oregon
- 1:45:25Speaker 9: might have been the bowl game. They got blown out
- 1:45:27Speaker 9: in the AEC championship game. But they were pretty good.
- 1:45:31Speaker 9: You know, Josh Downs was on that team, Omarion Hampton
- 1:45:34Speaker 9: was on that team. Like, they were a pretty good team.
- 1:45:37Speaker 9: His junior season is last year in college. They lost
- 1:45:41Speaker 9: a handful of guys to the NFL from that better team.
- 1:45:45Speaker 9: They changed offensive coordinators. His offensive coordinator left and went
- 1:45:48Speaker 9: to Wisconsin, and he got a new offensive coordinator, and
- 1:45:51Speaker 9: they didn't take like that next step that some people
- 1:45:54Speaker 9: were expecting them to take. So, you know, his biggest
- 1:45:58Speaker 9: signature win was actually probably against Duke in his sophomore season.
- 1:46:03Speaker 9: Obviously big rivalry game for them, but he he was
- 1:46:06Speaker 9: just wildly inconsistent in college. Like, like I said, his
- 1:46:09Speaker 9: best ten throws were as good as any throw that
- 1:46:13Speaker 9: you ever see, but he had some you know, kind
- 1:46:15Speaker 9: of what the WTF type plays too well.
- 1:46:18Speaker 4: When was the last time he had an offensive coordinator
- 1:46:21Speaker 4: for two years in a row that he's.
- 1:46:22Speaker 9: Never had it now, so now yeah, yeah, even like
- 1:46:26Speaker 9: maybe high school, but like you know, college he changed
- 1:46:29Speaker 9: coordinators and and then obviously changed coordinators last year.
- 1:46:32Speaker 3: So all right, on the phone is Eldred. What's up? Eldred?
- 1:46:37Speaker 6: Hey, okay, Hey, I agree with one of the callers
- 1:46:45Speaker 6: about Gunard, but he got some points though. Do y'all
- 1:46:49Speaker 6: think this draft was more of a Wolf or or
- 1:46:54Speaker 6: the coaches?
- 1:46:57Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 1:46:58Speaker 4: I mean, I think it feel like Acus is kind
- 1:47:00Speaker 4: of a Rabel player. I mean, what did you feel
- 1:47:02Speaker 4: like last year? What did you feel was more Wolf
- 1:47:04Speaker 4: for Rabel?
- 1:47:05Speaker 3: Last year?
- 1:47:06Speaker 6: I think it was Grabel because the way was picking
- 1:47:08Speaker 6: players mostly and then this year. But that guy that
- 1:47:13Speaker 6: that Saturday when we was while I was on he
- 1:47:16Speaker 6: kind of blasting with the email, no more football than you.
- 1:47:19Speaker 6: But I don't have to listen to because I watched
- 1:47:22Speaker 6: the games. I don't watch film. Ever's good, Evans very good.
- 1:47:26Speaker 6: But I watched the players. You know, so those wide receivers,
- 1:47:30Speaker 6: I'm not like Bill Belichick. But other than that, you know,
- 1:47:35Speaker 6: I think it was more wolf draft.
- 1:47:37Speaker 3: Yeah, because it was almost like they were trading off
- 1:47:40Speaker 3: like Wolf got the first one, Rabel gets the second one,
- 1:47:43Speaker 3: Wolf got the third.
- 1:47:44Speaker 6: One, and then you know the Wolf got the wrist.
- 1:47:47Speaker 3: But then Rabel wasn't there for the third day.
- 1:47:49Speaker 6: So yeah, well that for the third day, That's what
- 1:47:51Speaker 6: I'm mean.
- 1:47:52Speaker 9: Yeah, I don't know. I mean, like was is just
- 1:47:54Speaker 9: traveon Henderson feel like I'm a Rabel type of skill
- 1:47:59Speaker 9: set back, like I mean, I guess maybe because of
- 1:48:03Speaker 9: the school, but like a light like speedy running back
- 1:48:07Speaker 9: like that, like if you know, I'm not thinking about
- 1:48:10Speaker 9: Derrick Henry when I you know, like when I describe
- 1:48:12Speaker 9: that kind of player. I don't know. I think that
- 1:48:14Speaker 9: this year it did feel a little bit like Lomu
- 1:48:17Speaker 9: felt more like Elliott's guy, and Akis felt more like
- 1:48:21Speaker 9: Rabel's guy. But I think it's hard to say.
- 1:48:23Speaker 3: I think it truly was collaborative, and I think the
- 1:48:28Speaker 3: picks were a culmination of the scouting departments recommendations and
- 1:48:33Speaker 3: then the evaluation of you know, uh Wolf and you know,
- 1:48:38Speaker 3: even maybe a little Matt grow but you know other position.
- 1:48:41Speaker 3: You know, I think I think it was a true
- 1:48:43Speaker 3: collaborative effort.
- 1:48:45Speaker 4: I just I just want to I think I just
- 1:48:46Speaker 4: want to avoid saying like, oh, this guy's tough, so
- 1:48:49Speaker 4: that's a rable guy, but this guy is.
- 1:48:52Speaker 9: Well that was my sort of point of bringing up Henderson,
- 1:48:54Speaker 9: And like Kyle Williams is like, they're not like these rugged,
- 1:48:58Speaker 9: like you know, physical plays like like what we're trying
- 1:49:02Speaker 9: to like kind of type cast frables exactly type Yeah.
- 1:49:05Speaker 3: No, I think Rabel has a brain between his ears,
- 1:49:08Speaker 3: and I think he listens to the experts. He's not
- 1:49:11Speaker 3: he's not an expert scout like Rredan.
- 1:49:14Speaker 9: I feel like was might have been more a coaching
- 1:49:16Speaker 9: staff pick honestly, Like I think Dell Wolf came out
- 1:49:19Speaker 9: and admitted that there was divide in the room on
- 1:49:21Speaker 9: that pick, that they had back and forth about whether
- 1:49:24Speaker 9: to pick him or not. So I don't know, I
- 1:49:27Speaker 9: don't I don't really like labeling it that way either,
- 1:49:30Speaker 9: but like I think it's to Friend's point, it feels
- 1:49:33Speaker 9: like everybody kind of had a voice, Yeah, and then
- 1:49:35Speaker 9: it sort of came out in the wash, you know,
- 1:49:37Speaker 9: depending on.
- 1:49:37Speaker 5: What did Ryan Cowden get a pick?
- 1:49:40Speaker 3: Well, yeah, I think he was involved as well. The
- 1:49:42Speaker 3: guy like Rared is a perfect example. He he gets
- 1:49:45Speaker 3: on your board because initially the scout who was his
- 1:49:49Speaker 3: area of scout talked to somebody and talked about and
- 1:49:53Speaker 3: found out or at least was convinced of his upside.
- 1:49:56Speaker 3: And and that's where it starts in. And then you
- 1:50:00Speaker 3: know everyone dives in and you do more research and
- 1:50:03Speaker 3: more research, and you know, by the time draft day comes,
- 1:50:06Speaker 3: you've convinced the room.
- 1:50:08Speaker 9: Yeah, I think you know, like historically speaking, you think
- 1:50:11Speaker 9: of scouts go for tools, right, like they go for upside,
- 1:50:14Speaker 9: They go for athleticism, guys like Lomu. You know, coaches
- 1:50:18Speaker 9: go for like proven track record of like I can
- 1:50:20Speaker 9: watch the film and this guy's good at X, Y
- 1:50:23Speaker 9: and Z. But that's not saying that that's what the
- 1:50:25Speaker 9: Patriots do. I'm just saying that's like the general rule
- 1:50:28Speaker 9: of like what coaches look for versus what scouts Like.
- 1:50:31Speaker 4: I've heard this take a couple of times, and I
- 1:50:33Speaker 4: just I feel like this is just that let's dig
- 1:50:35Speaker 4: up the Rabel versus Wolf storyline. And this guy because
- 1:50:39Speaker 4: he eats glass, that's a Rabel guy. And oh but
- 1:50:42Speaker 4: Wolf didn't like him because he eats glass. And now
- 1:50:44Speaker 4: you know, like I just to me, this is your thing,
- 1:50:46Speaker 4: Fred class.
- 1:50:48Speaker 5: They're all in on it.
- 1:50:49Speaker 3: I mean they are and even when Bill was here,
- 1:50:51Speaker 3: there was a lot. But but the difference I think
- 1:50:54Speaker 3: when Bill was here is Bill was a very mistrusting person.
- 1:51:00Speaker 3: He had a very small circle of people that he
- 1:51:03Speaker 3: trusted and that went to the into the college ranks too,
- 1:51:07Speaker 3: And so when someone that he trusted recommended a player,
- 1:51:10Speaker 3: that weighed heavily. So you know, when Schiano, you know,
- 1:51:16Speaker 3: he likes Chiano, so he'd trusts that. You know, there
- 1:51:18Speaker 3: was certain people in the college ranks that he would
- 1:51:21Speaker 3: listen to more than others.
- 1:51:22Speaker 9: Yeah, yeah, yeah, I think that it's good, Like it's
- 1:51:25Speaker 9: good that they are able to have these discussions and
- 1:51:29Speaker 9: like make decisions that way. And I think it's good
- 1:51:32Speaker 9: that you know, in theory that you have a little
- 1:51:35Speaker 9: bit different taste, so it's not like you're just drafting
- 1:51:37Speaker 9: off of the same exact kind of player. Like if
- 1:51:40Speaker 9: you're always just drafting the effort and finish, tryhard guy
- 1:51:45Speaker 9: like Paul likes to call them, then you're not going
- 1:51:47Speaker 9: to get any talent, right, Like, But if you have
- 1:51:49Speaker 9: somebody that's offsetting that was saying, well, this is a
- 1:51:52Speaker 9: twenty one year old kid who's got you know, insane athleticism,
- 1:51:56Speaker 9: and he might not be ready to play right away,
- 1:51:58Speaker 9: but like in three years he's going to be the
- 1:52:00Speaker 9: better player. Then, Like that's how you hit on guys
- 1:52:02Speaker 9: like Drake May and Christian Gonzales and you know, players
- 1:52:05Speaker 9: like that.
- 1:52:06Speaker 3: Nathan wrights in he says, I agree with Mike, I
- 1:52:09Speaker 3: do not like the number eighty two for Eli.
- 1:52:11Speaker 5: That what you said is that your I mean, I
- 1:52:14Speaker 5: mean barf gated in no notes, I was eighty eight for.
- 1:52:17Speaker 3: A tight I thought he looked sick in number nine
- 1:52:20Speaker 3: at Notre Dame, and he wore number eighty eight in
- 1:52:22Speaker 3: high school and it looked slick. Also, Mike said he
- 1:52:25Speaker 3: wants to see how big Eli is in person heat.
- 1:52:28Speaker 5: He's huge.
- 1:52:30Speaker 3: I swear he was six sixth and eighth grade. This
- 1:52:32Speaker 3: is somebody who must have went to school. Yeah. The
- 1:52:36Speaker 3: only time he was not the biggest player in the
- 1:52:38Speaker 3: field in high school was when we played Caden Proctor.
- 1:52:41Speaker 3: Side note. Proctor was a five star in high school,
- 1:52:44Speaker 3: and I don't think he was at the level. I'm
- 1:52:47Speaker 3: not saying I'm a better player than him, but I
- 1:52:49Speaker 3: do think he's over hyped. I was honestly happy to
- 1:52:52Speaker 3: see Miami take him because they're going to have to
- 1:52:54Speaker 3: find a replacement for him in two years.
- 1:52:57Speaker 9: It was that was a surprising pick. They picked him over.
- 1:53:00Speaker 9: They definitely picked him over Caleb Downs, Cayden Proctor. There
- 1:53:03Speaker 9: was another one too that they picked him over that.
- 1:53:05Speaker 9: I think a lot of people were surprised about it.
- 1:53:07Speaker 9: It's Miami. But yeah, right, I mean, right, Brandon, maybe
- 1:53:11Speaker 9: he could get number nine if Kaishan Booty isn't on
- 1:53:13Speaker 9: the team.
- 1:53:14Speaker 3: But I don't think any tight ends should be wearing
- 1:53:16Speaker 3: number nine.
- 1:53:17Speaker 5: No, I don't.
- 1:53:17Speaker 4: I don't like the single disch they need to be
- 1:53:19Speaker 4: in the eighties, I agree. I agree that bumps me.
- 1:53:22Speaker 4: I don't like seeing like linebackers and I.
- 1:53:25Speaker 9: Think, I mean, obviously eighty seven is special to all
- 1:53:28Speaker 9: of us, but like eighty five, Hunter Henry's number is
- 1:53:31Speaker 9: a great treat that's great one.
- 1:53:32Speaker 17: I know.
- 1:53:32Speaker 4: I think eighty eight is I mean, Terry Glenn was
- 1:53:35Speaker 4: a good eighty eight is a wide receiver.
- 1:53:36Speaker 5: It's a wide receiver number. I mean, I would think
- 1:53:39Speaker 5: like him.
- 1:53:39Speaker 9: Cowboys wide receiver like that Bryan right.
- 1:53:41Speaker 4: Right, right right, But I was just looking right now.
- 1:53:43Speaker 4: I mean open numbers. One is open, six is open, eleven?
- 1:53:48Speaker 4: Who might that be your mark for eighteen? Of course,
- 1:53:51Speaker 4: with Kyle Williams making the big switch, fifty one, fifty
- 1:53:54Speaker 4: nine sixty bunch of elder ones, ninety ninety.
- 1:53:56Speaker 3: Six sixty is definitely a setter, Yeah.
- 1:53:59Speaker 5: David Andrews.
- 1:54:00Speaker 4: Yeah, and the Patriots found nineteen sixty, so you know
- 1:54:02Speaker 4: it's a good number, you know, historically, but fifty one
- 1:54:05Speaker 4: still open, okay, Linebacker Sam and Charlotte.
- 1:54:09Speaker 3: For the longest time, I thought Christian in La was
- 1:54:11Speaker 3: one of Duce's friends that he talked into calling in
- 1:54:14Speaker 3: and being obnoxious to get on Paul's nerves. But now
- 1:54:17Speaker 3: his takes are even getting on Mike's nerves. His favorite
- 1:54:19Speaker 3: grunk take tells me that if he is rich, he
- 1:54:22Speaker 3: is not because he's smart. Must have been one of
- 1:54:25Speaker 3: the people in California that won the lottery every year.
- 1:54:28Speaker 4: I mean, there's a lot of rich people who aren't
- 1:54:29Speaker 4: smart in California, I saw. I mean, you know, you
- 1:54:32Speaker 4: write one thing or do one thing and it's successful
- 1:54:35Speaker 4: and all of a sudden you're rich.
- 1:54:36Speaker 9: Yeah, can we know.
- 1:54:38Speaker 5: I appreciate Christian. I did not know him before this,
- 1:54:40Speaker 5: but I don't really have many friends left in La.
- 1:54:43Speaker 4: I feel like most of them have moved on as
- 1:54:45Speaker 4: they've grown up, and you know, I mean some are
- 1:54:48Speaker 4: still out there and have had some success, but for
- 1:54:51Speaker 4: the most part, a lot of people left when they
- 1:54:52Speaker 4: wanted to like buy a house.
- 1:54:54Speaker 3: Yeah, they're kind of tough to do out. Yeah. James
- 1:54:58Speaker 3: Pettig grew the most interesting fan in the world. Is
- 1:55:01Speaker 3: even more interesting because he says very interesting fact. I
- 1:55:04Speaker 3: was born May fourth, nineteen seventy seven. No proper Star
- 1:55:08Speaker 3: Wars baby. Yeah, so I turned forty nine yesterday, Happy birthday, birthday,
- 1:55:13Speaker 3: and that is, of course nineteen seventy seven, the year
- 1:55:15Speaker 3: of the first Star Wars gen X baby.
- 1:55:17Speaker 9: Next year he's gonna have to get a colonoscopy.
- 1:55:20Speaker 5: Yeah, that's uh, that's coming up. Tomorrow's gonna be tough.
- 1:55:22Speaker 4: I got no liquid diet tomorrow, and then Thursday's the
- 1:55:25Speaker 4: big day, so I won't be here, sorry to.
- 1:55:26Speaker 5: Everyone, But a full report. Evan and I.
- 1:55:28Speaker 3: Should we do like a separate video, un you just
- 1:55:30Speaker 3: send pictures from the room. Maybe should we have the
- 1:55:33Speaker 3: send pictures. I'll give you a close up, right, that
- 1:55:36Speaker 3: would be great. You'll never look at me the same way.
- 1:55:38Speaker 3: We're gonna do a YouTube breakdown of that. Here's his
- 1:55:42Speaker 3: calling right here.
- 1:55:42Speaker 5: We got a poll up. We're gonna cut that off
- 1:55:44Speaker 5: right there, and then we're cut over here to a
- 1:55:45Speaker 5: couple hamorrhoids.
- 1:55:46Speaker 9: Now, thanks, Yeah, I had to go that extra mile
- 1:55:50Speaker 9: with that.
- 1:55:51Speaker 5: It's all on the table tomorrow. I don't know. I mean,
- 1:55:53Speaker 5: it's a little bit like I don't know. You get
- 1:55:54Speaker 5: you're getting the checked out of the hood you want.
- 1:55:56Speaker 5: You're hoping for good like I mean, we all knew
- 1:55:59Speaker 5: we were good.
- 1:56:01Speaker 3: We are. Find some Patriots memorabilia up there, Rick and
- 1:56:06Speaker 3: Riverside is my excitement for this offense misguided. They added
- 1:56:11Speaker 3: competition on the old line where the starting five can
- 1:56:13Speaker 3: be very good to a top ten unit at wide receiver.
- 1:56:16Speaker 3: Dobbs was a great pick up, and if AJ Brown
- 1:56:19Speaker 3: comes in the wide receiver room, it can be good
- 1:56:21Speaker 3: to top ten unit. Raradan has the potential to be
- 1:56:24Speaker 3: Drake may May, Drake Drake may May's binky for many years.
- 1:56:29Speaker 3: And we added a very good full bat. I haven't
- 1:56:31Speaker 3: even mentioned we have a Hall of Fame caliber roc am.
- 1:56:34Speaker 3: I right to be this excited.
- 1:56:37Speaker 9: I'm I feel excited about all of it. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:56:39Speaker 9: I think the real the only question that I have
- 1:56:41Speaker 9: about the entire team is like can they recreate the magic?
- 1:56:45Speaker 9: Like how do they kind of get the mojo? It's
- 1:56:47Speaker 9: going to be different, Like it's not gonna be They're
- 1:56:49Speaker 9: not gonna be the underdogs anymore. They're warrior, right, but like,
- 1:56:53Speaker 9: how does Mike Rabel reimagine that whole thing?
- 1:56:57Speaker 3: That's a challenge they got.
- 1:56:58Speaker 9: They have more talent, certain than they did last year.
- 1:57:01Speaker 9: They no doubt about that.
- 1:57:02Speaker 3: As for Star Wars, any rankings have to have episodes four, five,
- 1:57:06Speaker 3: and six in the top three in some order Solo.
- 1:57:09Speaker 9: And three, which I feel very strong.
- 1:57:11Speaker 3: Solo was a very good movie as well, and killing
- 1:57:14Speaker 3: Maul that early was a waste of a good character.
- 1:57:18Speaker 5: Oh dark More Yeah yeah yeah.
- 1:57:20Speaker 4: Yeah, well they didn't kill him actually spoiler if he
- 1:57:23Speaker 4: watched the things, yeah.
- 1:57:24Speaker 22: He saw Solo? Yeah right, he comes back at the end.
- 1:57:27Speaker 22: Yeah right right, yeah, spoiler, Come on, sorry, get on
- 1:57:30Speaker 22: our level. If you're gonna call him the Star Wars
- 1:57:32Speaker 22: four or five and six, I'm out on them. Were
- 1:57:35Speaker 22: those are one, two and three?
- 1:57:37Speaker 3: You so you call them one two to three?
- 1:57:38Speaker 9: Yeah, because like it's just those are the original.
- 1:57:41Speaker 4: But don't you remember Fred, like watching that thing? Being
- 1:57:43Speaker 4: like episode four, like what did I miss? Because it,
- 1:57:46Speaker 4: you know, it always was at least from you know,
- 1:57:48Speaker 4: I didn't think. I know they've changed a few times
- 1:57:49Speaker 4: over the years, but you were always like a new hope,
- 1:57:51Speaker 4: like what what are these other episodes? There was always
- 1:57:53Speaker 4: some intrigue with that. But do you ever listen to
- 1:57:55Speaker 4: the radio like broadcast of it? They also did like
- 1:57:58Speaker 4: a radio thing.
- 1:57:58Speaker 9: I remember worlds when everybody thought the world was ending.
- 1:58:02Speaker 5: Exactly anybody that was like a dramatic you know reading.
- 1:58:04Speaker 4: I remember being on the Cape listening to that over
- 1:58:06Speaker 4: like fourth of July on the radio, aging myself a
- 1:58:09Speaker 4: little bit.
- 1:58:10Speaker 3: All right, that's gonna be it for this edition of
- 1:58:13Speaker 3: Patriots Unfiltered. We've got Catch twenty two tomorrow at noon.
- 1:58:17Speaker 5: Yes, any any teasers for that?
- 1:58:20Speaker 9: A lot of u DFA talk tomorrow. You know, we
- 1:58:22Speaker 9: did the draft class last week, then you know, got
- 1:58:26Speaker 9: to dig into the UDFA is more.
- 1:58:28Speaker 4: You know, press barf on the numbers a little bit.
- 1:58:30Speaker 4: Gave no notes at all. By I was disappointed. He
- 1:58:34Speaker 4: kind of mailed that one in.
- 1:58:35Speaker 3: Yeah, it's very busy, very busy.
- 1:58:38Speaker 5: He's got seventeen radio appearances and podcasts yesterday.
- 1:58:40Speaker 3: And then of course we'll be back on Thursday without Paul.
- 1:58:43Speaker 3: Maybe we'll get some updates without or Deuce.
- 1:58:46Speaker 9: Hopefully we get some updates Onduce. Now I'll call in.
- 1:58:49Speaker 3: I'll call in just me and you Evan.
- 1:58:52Speaker 9: Oh gosh, now An yell at me about the Celtics again.
- 1:58:56Speaker 3: I hope not yelling is we're having a discussion. All right, Hey,
- 1:59:04Speaker 3: this is Deuce.

- 1:59:16Speaker 5: Thanks a lot,
