Transcript
- 0:01SPEAKER_02: I am the governor Swag.
- 0:04SPEAKER_02: What that means is I love to teach people to become a new idea.
- 0:12SPEAKER_02: Don't join me on my journey.
- 0:16SPEAKER_02: Because today I never know what I get into.
- 0:21SPEAKER_02: But always become a new idea.
- 0:26SPEAKER_02: I hope you enjoy this episode.
- 0:33SPEAKER_00: I told you I was gonna get right to the point on this, okay?
- 0:37SPEAKER_00: And um when you say all often I find through this time I've been in is that people will say they'll pray for you, they'll either forget or they'll pray for what they think you want or what they want from you.
- 0:52SPEAKER_00: It's fascinating.
- 0:53SPEAKER_00: So so Barrett, if I were to say, Barrett, how would you want somebody to pray for you?
- 0:58SPEAKER_00: What would you want us to pray for?
- 1:02SPEAKER_02: And I'm gonna let you ask me that question because I wouldn't answer it different differently than I would now.
- 1:12SPEAKER_02: Um it's funny, I would listen to um uh like a YouTube channel called Share Your Share Your Testimony.
- 1:26SPEAKER_02: And you know, huh?
- 1:33SPEAKER_02: You know, he was talking about he was talking about a friend saying, I want you to pay for my mom for healing.
- 1:39SPEAKER_02: And the guy said, Okay, I'm not gonna pray for healing, but I'm gonna pray for it.
- 1:48SPEAKER_02: Okay, no matter what happens, God brings your family closer to him.
- 1:54SPEAKER_02: Hmm, hm.
- 1:57SPEAKER_00: Wow.
- 2:00SPEAKER_00: Oh, well, okay, okay.
- 2:02SPEAKER_00: Wow, little did I know that you're gonna answer in a way that's just so you if I hear this right, you're saying that rather than pray for healing, the man on it said, whatever it takes to bring my family closer to God.
- 2:20SPEAKER_00: Bear it.
- 2:23SPEAKER_02: And when I hear when I hear when I heard that, I have I had the same reaction because I was like thing is that the reason why the world looks almost down on this disability from the beginning of time.
- 2:47SPEAKER_02: And the second thing I wrestle with all the time is I'm like, dang, I don't know if you remember me saying something like this.
- 3:00SPEAKER_02: I was like, I wish people would be over with them on the inside, not the outside.
- 3:06SPEAKER_00: Uh-huh.
- 3:07SPEAKER_00: You said I mean that's what I was referencing that you told me when people were praying for you.
- 3:12SPEAKER_00: I'm not praying for the right thing.
- 3:13SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 3:17SPEAKER_02: It's funny when I when I heard that when I had the hour-long video, I'm like, uh, maybe I maybe I gotta change my outlook on this kind of joke.
- 3:32SPEAKER_02: As you know, and I'm sorry, I'm sorry if I'm jumping on, but as you know, I have to rely on many different people to do what I do what I like to do.
- 3:44SPEAKER_02: And one of them is podcasting.
- 3:47SPEAKER_02: And boy, I tell you what, I would get so down on myself of not being able to be consistent the way I want to be consistent sometimes.
- 4:00SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 4:02SPEAKER_02: But I shared I share this not in the back, but the last couple months.
- 4:09SPEAKER_02: I don't I don't know how it was, but I have over$500 on my podcast, and I haven't posted anything new in like two or three years.
- 4:24SPEAKER_00: That's like the Barrett, the timing.
- 4:28SPEAKER_00: Timing, isn't it something?
- 4:30SPEAKER_00: Have you noticed the timing?
- 4:34SPEAKER_00: Uh just something else, man.
- 4:36SPEAKER_00: And and what you just said, I cannot add to what you just said that the man said about the purpose of pre.
- 4:44SPEAKER_00: I can't add to that.
- 4:45SPEAKER_00: If you noticed, I was like stunned.
- 4:46SPEAKER_00: Oh, it's just so simply the truth.
- 4:49SPEAKER_00: I can't add, but man, you're getting the downloads and you haven't posted.
- 4:53SPEAKER_00: Imagine when when it cranks up again, right?
- 4:59SPEAKER_02: Yeah, the one thing I really hope people think are is because I have a disability of open about it, it is gonna be less consistent.
- 5:12SPEAKER_02: But if people are willing to keep downloading, keep emailing me, keep motivating me, it's eventually gonna turn back around.
- 5:24SPEAKER_02: And I'm not saying this because, you know, you helped me and we're working on something, but I'm saying this because I have other people help me, and you know, life happens, and they are good people.
- 5:37SPEAKER_02: It's just when you have to rely on so many different things, you know, things go right, and when they don't go right, it's hard to get out of your own head and say, okay, is anybody gonna be there for me down the road?
- 5:57SPEAKER_00: Um which is gonna be almost where the fourth question I was gonna ask you.
- 6:03SPEAKER_00: You're as as you usually do, you're headed, you're all even getting ahead of it.
- 6:08SPEAKER_00: So but before we get to that one, because that really is that really is the essence of all of this.
- 6:14SPEAKER_00: What do you do now?
- 6:16SPEAKER_00: Right?
- 6:16SPEAKER_00: That's where we're headed to this.
- 6:18SPEAKER_00: Let me ask you a couple of things, so of what I've what I've learned.
- 6:21SPEAKER_00: I interviewed somebody also that had cerebral palsy on here once, and I thought and I said something like, Wow, well, you're I said, Wow, you're just an inspiration with all that you're doing, and she said this.
- 6:37SPEAKER_00: She said, but I gotta slow down because this this stings a little bit.
- 6:42SPEAKER_00: She says, JD, I don't want to be seen as an inspiration.
- 6:48SPEAKER_00: I just want to know why I have to hurt every single day.
- 6:53SPEAKER_00: And it really set me back.
- 6:56SPEAKER_00: Barrett, do you do you ever wonder why?
- 7:00SPEAKER_00: Like why you and not me, or you and somebody you ever wonder why?
- 7:07SPEAKER_02: Yes, but I'll answer it this way, and I do agree with uh what she said to a certain extent.
- 7:15SPEAKER_02: Because again, the world perceives us as motive motivators, I will say.
- 7:37SPEAKER_02: But what I think she was saying is why do we have to go through this stuff all the time and people don't even see?
- 7:50SPEAKER_02: No, uh I'm saying not inspiration, but I do agree with it, because if you look at what people do if they use a disability, say a person with no leg or something like something like that, and say, Well, if they can do it, you can do it too.
- 8:09SPEAKER_02: I'm like, um, no, that's when I have a problem with it.
- 8:14SPEAKER_02: Because only the only motivation that you need, you can use OS as a tool, but the moment you say, Oh, they have a disability with your use, then a lot of you have problem with that, including me.
- 8:36SPEAKER_02: And I will say this I wonder that same thing, but what I realize is my hurting is not only not only telling it, but it goes back to the Bible, and I don't know what scripture it is, but it's like we gotta have a thorn on our side to keep us focused.
- 9:07SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah, that's in Corinthians where Paul said he just he prayed for it to be removed and it wouldn't be removed, so he would know so he would know the power of Jesus Christ because if he removed it, he'd take credit.
- 9:20SPEAKER_00: Barrett, never saw, never thought of it being looking that way.
- 9:25SPEAKER_00: I never thought of it that way.
- 9:27SPEAKER_02: But I'd be careful saying that, and I I can only see that on here because I feel like the audience knows me by now, that not only do okay.
- 9:39SPEAKER_02: I'll give you another example of the real world example right now with AI, AI is very bad about disabil bringing disciplinary people down.
- 9:54SPEAKER_02: And if you ask about disability people, it is very outdated and spoiler alert.
- 10:03SPEAKER_02: I think I'm gonna do an episode on this on my podcast too, but um you know, and me and AI have a love hate relationship.
- 10:18SPEAKER_02: Meaning I think that I can make things a lot easier for me, but I don't let it, you know, I just don't send it send it off to somebody and yeah, that's that.
- 10:33SPEAKER_02: But what I use AI for is to like to create little templates that would take me two or three hours to do that wouldn't yeah, probably probably take somebody else probably 15 minutes to do with all the stuff I gotta use and all that stuff, and um cloning people's voices is great, but someone like me that is gonna use a screen either, but a lot a lot of bad people like now pretend like they're celebrities.
- 11:14SPEAKER_02: So there's gonna be a constant love-hate relationship with AI, but uh the thing I'm worried about the most is people using AI for businesses and stuff like that, which is great, you know, use the tool responsibly, it's like drinking alcohol, you know, where they always say drink drink responsibly and blah blah blah blah.
- 11:38SPEAKER_02: If you don't, then there's use consequences.
- 11:44SPEAKER_02: But the thing I worry about the most is like okay, you can use yeah, that's fine, but uh when are you gonna bring a human butt into it?
- 11:56SPEAKER_00: Yes, hey, I'm gonna I've learned a lot about AI since we last talked, but what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna hold that and try to convince you that maybe on your podcast we discuss it because I have found some things that I think would be extremely helpful, but there are some red flags in it.
- 12:12SPEAKER_00: You are you're right on, man.
- 12:15SPEAKER_00: I think it's an amazing tool if used properly, and but I think that's something I'd love to bounce around with you on your podcast if you're having me on there, you know.
- 12:27SPEAKER_00: Um bear what's that?
- 12:30SPEAKER_02: I need you.
- 12:31SPEAKER_02: So come on me down, right?
- 12:35SPEAKER_00: Okay, I want to and you one more question.
- 12:38SPEAKER_00: We're gonna look right into where where you see where you're going forward.
- 12:42SPEAKER_00: And here's one point I want to make about this all of this, and why these last few episodes of Circle Panama, it is about here's where you are, here's where you've been, and not but now I'm gonna do this, it's part of the story.
- 12:57SPEAKER_00: Everyone has that, you know.
- 13:00SPEAKER_00: Here's what I've done, here's what I've in and now, therefore, I will.
- 13:05SPEAKER_00: And your language and every question you keep answering with a forward-looking approach, not of not a oh, I'm here and Vic.
- 13:14SPEAKER_00: Man, it's just tremendous tremendous.
- 13:16SPEAKER_00: So, before we get into the questions more forward-looking, how about this?
- 13:19SPEAKER_00: What would you want everyone listening this to know?
- 13:23SPEAKER_02: Well, I would say the last couple of months have been very rough.
- 13:29SPEAKER_02: I mean one because I got episodes on my on my podcast ready to go.
- 13:37SPEAKER_02: But the simple way I can put it is life is getting away several times.
- 13:46SPEAKER_02: But the tricky is how do I bounce back?
- 13:50SPEAKER_02: So I am rebranding my podcast.
- 13:56SPEAKER_02: It's gonna be the same thing, but in three c three categories.
- 14:01SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 14:02SPEAKER_02: Everything's gonna circle around disability in some aspects.
- 14:09SPEAKER_02: But there's gonna be occasions where I would like to have people that knew me as a young child and talking to them again as an adult.
- 14:24SPEAKER_02: Whether it's best classmates or people that knew me as a shy person.
- 14:33SPEAKER_02: I was very shy when I was in school.
- 14:36SPEAKER_02: Like all I focused on in school was work, work, work, and not relationships.
- 14:42SPEAKER_02: And I wish I'd done more of the relationship now.
- 14:46SPEAKER_02: So there's that aspect, and then you know, the paper aspect, and then I just want to talk about life.
- 14:57SPEAKER_02: What I mean by that is yes, I got a disability, but I struggle with the same things as uh other people do.
- 15:05SPEAKER_02: It might look a little different, but it's still the same thing.
- 15:10SPEAKER_02: Like, you know, getting finding new friends.
- 15:16SPEAKER_02: How do you do that when you're not going to school anymore?
- 15:20SPEAKER_02: What events can you go to?
- 15:22SPEAKER_02: What are the challenges of, you know, going to these events, not being able to talk when you want to talk?
- 15:31SPEAKER_02: And I'm still trying to learn how to navigate that.
- 15:35SPEAKER_02: Like, you know, it's it's hard.
- 15:40SPEAKER_02: It is very, very, very hard.
- 15:43SPEAKER_02: And I just don't get down about that.
- 15:45SPEAKER_02: Um I'm gonna be real.
- 15:47SPEAKER_02: I I just don't wanna, you know, I don't want to find out like everybody else doesn't have young young wife, it's baby and that's when he kids what I'm you know, um I'm right in right in the middle of mine, I would say.
- 16:07SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you know, it's those kind of those kind of things that are normal.
- 16:13SPEAKER_02: But again, I don't want to rush it.
- 16:16SPEAKER_02: I don't want to be one of those that end up rushing it and then make a big mistake and then then you gotta live with the consequences the rest of your life.
- 16:29SPEAKER_00: Oh yeah.
- 16:30SPEAKER_00: I know all about that.
- 16:33SPEAKER_02: Know all about that.
- 16:35SPEAKER_02: But even all that even online dating is hard.
- 16:38SPEAKER_02: Like I tried one time, and the first three weeks I was like, I'm done.
- 16:46SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 16:47SPEAKER_02: And I'm I'm trying to like motivate myself to try again because I know like I gotta go through the bad apples and gotta be extra careful because I have a disability, but I also gotta show people hey, you know, you might think I need somebody 24-7, and that's not always the case.
- 17:14SPEAKER_02: You'd be surprised, I don't know how much like I have to think about to even show somebody can be like, okay, we'll figure this out together.
- 17:27SPEAKER_02: And I know I mean I'm a young person, uh what I call myself a young bug at this point in my life, but all this is normal.
- 17:39SPEAKER_02: And it what I found by looking on YouTube and somebody uh it's a lot harder about you know disability people because you have to wait ten dollars just to gain somebody's interest, you know what I mean?
- 17:57SPEAKER_02: So not to say not to say I'll do that on like I'll talk about it on my podcast, but I figured I would share that share that snip a snip bit like I'm just like everybody else.
- 18:14SPEAKER_00: Yeah at this point in my life, but uh yeah, you know, Barrett, you brought this full circle in because here's what I was thinking, and then we're gonna um we'll close out the circle of the panda podcast.
- 18:30SPEAKER_00: But you so I want everyone to hear that in a very short period of time, it's about 15 minutes, uh Barrett's uh gave a real quick answer on one thing, as the first one was a real great definition about what to be praying for.
- 18:47SPEAKER_00: I can't I'm I can't add any commentary to that, it just you changed the way I'm gonna pray.
- 18:52SPEAKER_00: Uh every one of these conversations kept looking forward your vision for where you're headed with this, and then you know, Barrett, the the last thing that you said was people tend you're a young man.
- 19:08SPEAKER_00: And the reason I say that is you're a young man that that thinks like a young man.
- 19:14SPEAKER_00: I I I think people often don't are don't look at people with disability that way.
- 19:22SPEAKER_00: They just don't there's a they look at people with disabilities through a different lens.
- 19:35SPEAKER_02: You can see I'm getting I'm getting emotional a little bit because it's hard that you know the moment the moment you're bone of only one not only with not only with people but yourself, that's where real growth or real growth real growth is but um it it's extreme it's extremely hard though, right?
- 20:23SPEAKER_02: It's show when you're struggling and like it's funny how people say I wanna do this, I wanna do that.
- 20:35SPEAKER_02: I see these I see these things for this reason.
- 20:40SPEAKER_02: It might be fifteen or sixteen years before you can figure it out.
- 20:48SPEAKER_02: Or something might happen the way I'm lucky enough but I got the advantage of a few people around me.
- 20:59SPEAKER_02: The way I don't want to figure it out by myself is something more important, but I know a lot of disability people now don't have that and the advocacy part of me, which is mostly the stubborn part of me, is like I'm not worried about this for myself necessarily.
- 21:27SPEAKER_02: I am a little bit, but like if everything got taken away what w what what I do.
- 21:39SPEAKER_02: And I think a lot of disability people struggle with that now because I'll give you another short story when I'm gonna talk about on my podcast soon.
- 21:52SPEAKER_02: But my car broke down and you thought you think, okay, you can just call the cab and get on home.
- 22:01SPEAKER_02: Well in my area, which is New York in South Carolina, that's not very easy to do.
- 22:12SPEAKER_02: Like literally, they don't have like broken down vehicles for people with disability.
- 22:20SPEAKER_02: So I don't even know what options you have out there, but literally we had to pick my c my car in the parking lot.
- 22:36SPEAKER_02: Because I lit my lit literally my family like spent hours trying to call cabs and figure out what we can do at night.
- 22:50SPEAKER_02: And literally there's nothing that I know at this moment in time.
- 22:57SPEAKER_02: I could be wrong.
- 23:00SPEAKER_02: That's open late at night that people with disabilities can call.
- 23:07SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 23:09SPEAKER_02: Wow.
- 23:11SPEAKER_02: So I didn't say this.
- 23:13SPEAKER_02: I know I'm lucky.
- 23:14SPEAKER_02: I know I'm lucky, but I hope I can motivate somebody for the right reason and they keep on pushing.
- 23:23SPEAKER_02: Even though you feel like the world's against you.
- 23:28SPEAKER_02: I can say I don't feel that way, but I'll be lying.
- 23:33SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 23:34SPEAKER_02: I'd be lying if I if I said that.
- 23:37SPEAKER_02: I do feel like the world's against me.
- 23:39SPEAKER_02: What I can do is keep avocating whenever I can.
- 23:45SPEAKER_02: And you know, if it all ends up going in smoke, I can say, well, I try my best.
- 23:56SPEAKER_02: So I say that to say this.
- 23:59SPEAKER_02: I don't mean I'm not talking about trying to say about anybody when I say, yeah, my body might not be constant.
- 24:08SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it might take me a couple months.
- 24:12SPEAKER_02: I know at this point it's taking me three years three years and still counting.
- 24:17SPEAKER_02: Not not about episodes.
- 24:20SPEAKER_02: But if I keep if I keep on dreaming and keep on pushing, eventually two things I have.
- 24:29SPEAKER_02: I either make it better for myself with my family, or I want to have a family, hopefully down the road, lower willing, or I end up encouraging people to vote.
- 24:43SPEAKER_02: May make change or get involved in get involved in the church and make noise.
- 24:50SPEAKER_02: Because like I've done on only episodes, like I never really have a church.
- 25:00SPEAKER_02: Um there's a couple places I like.
- 25:04SPEAKER_02: But as far as getting involved in the church, it's a lot harder than people realize.
- 25:09SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 25:10SPEAKER_02: I mean so that is my my goal, and I try to remember myself every day.
- 25:18SPEAKER_02: Just keep pushing, keep pushing.
- 25:23SPEAKER_02: It might seem like everything is against you because sometimes it is.
- 25:49SPEAKER_02: Thank you for listening to Bears Wingly Podcast.
- 25:54SPEAKER_02: I hope this message today inspires you a little more to become who you are and not be the same new you are and always.
- 26:03SPEAKER_02: Okay, that's why I go about you.
- 26:07SPEAKER_02: Thank you for listening and I hope you email me on this episode.
- 26:12SPEAKER_02: My email is B-E-A-R-E-T-S.
- 26:24SPEAKER_02: That's email.com or you can follow me on my social medias.
- 26:31SPEAKER_02: Facebook and Instagram.
- 26:34SPEAKER_02: Just my remember it's barely two Ts and two hours.
- 26:38SPEAKER_02: Not my email.
- 26:41SPEAKER_02: My email has one T and that's the only the only thing that's different.
- 26:49SPEAKER_02: Thank you and have a great most fabulous regular day.
