- 0:27Speaker 2: Steve Moore, how you doing.
- 0:30Speaker 1: Hey, Mark, Well, I've been doing better. I'm not real
- 0:33Speaker 1: happy about what happened on Tuesday. I'm kind of despondent
- 0:37Speaker 1: about it actually, that you know, more than half of
- 0:41Speaker 1: New York voters voted for a socialist. I don't quite
- 0:44Speaker 1: understand it. I don't understand why. You know when you
- 0:48Speaker 1: may know that I met Milton Freeman and became friends
- 0:51Speaker 1: with them towards the end of his life. And I
- 0:53Speaker 1: remember one of the last dinners I had with him
- 0:55Speaker 1: before he died. You know, he turned to me, he said, Steve,
- 0:58Speaker 1: you know he was kind to the spotted himself. He said,
- 1:01Speaker 1: you know, the enduring lesson of the twentieth century for
- 1:04Speaker 1: anyone who's historian was that, you know, socialism, communism, Leninism,
- 1:11Speaker 1: all these things are a disaster, and a free enterprise,
- 1:15Speaker 1: free markets are what great prosperity. And yet and she said, yet,
- 1:19Speaker 1: all these kids are graduating from college thinking the opposite.
- 1:23Speaker 1: And he was right, and we've learned that. You know,
- 1:25Speaker 1: did you see it was the college educated who wrote
- 1:27Speaker 1: from MANDONI.
- 1:28Speaker 2: Yeah, but these colleges about twenty five thirty years ago
- 1:31Speaker 2: became indoctrination centers, left wing kooch profess.
- 1:34Speaker 1: Exactly, how do we think it's actually been going on
- 1:36Speaker 1: for more than twenty five years, But they're in doctrinating
- 1:39Speaker 1: with kids with completely lunatic ideas. And you know, I
- 1:43Speaker 1: was on Fox the other day and Will Kane asked me, hey, Steve,
- 1:47Speaker 1: has socialism communism ever worked anywhere? And I said, well,
- 1:50Speaker 1: it could work in heaven, you know, where people are angels.
- 1:54Speaker 1: But you know, here on earth, where we're not angels.
- 1:56Speaker 1: You know, you need a you know, where we pursue
- 2:00Speaker 1: our self interest. You know, the best way to organize
- 2:03Speaker 1: a society is for enterprise.
- 2:05Speaker 2: Yeah, well, listen, it didn't work the first one hundred
- 2:09Speaker 2: and seventy five thousand times. Maybe it'll work this time exactly.
- 2:13Speaker 1: Could be you know, you never you never say number.
- 2:16Speaker 1: But but listen, I mean the idea, for example, of
- 2:18Speaker 1: raising the income tax rate to sixteen and a half
- 2:22Speaker 1: percent when you're already the highest tax city in the
- 2:27Speaker 1: North America and you want to retain your status as
- 2:31Speaker 1: the you know, the financial capital of the world with
- 2:35Speaker 1: Wall Street, how are you going to do that with
- 2:37Speaker 1: a tax that high? It's going to be. I've said it,
- 2:39Speaker 1: and I said it again. I believe now Wall Street
- 2:42Speaker 1: is going to slowly continue to move out of New
- 2:45Speaker 1: York and it'll move probably to Dallas, Texas. Well.
- 2:48Speaker 2: They already have these huge yo Wall Street, the huge
- 2:52Speaker 2: operations Dallas and other places. But yes, are those more
- 2:55Speaker 2: backroom jobs that's not actual trading floors, are they?
- 3:00Speaker 1: Well, they're gonna. Yeah, they're going to have a tax
- 3:01Speaker 1: Texas Stock exchange. They just opened one a month ago. No,
- 3:04Speaker 1: I don't know how far along it is. I don't know,
- 3:07Speaker 1: but you know, I think one thing that may happen is,
- 3:09Speaker 1: you know, they're going to have to get a crane
- 3:11Speaker 1: and lift the iconic bowl on Wall Street and move
- 3:14Speaker 1: it to Dallas, you know, And it's just It's sad
- 3:17Speaker 1: because New York is one of our mosttant you know,
- 3:20Speaker 1: our most important and powerful city, not just in the
- 3:23Speaker 1: United States, but I say in the world. And we
- 3:26Speaker 1: got eight million people live there. And you know what's
- 3:28Speaker 1: really sad about this is the people are going to
- 3:31Speaker 1: take the biggest hit of the lowest income people because
- 3:34Speaker 1: you know, when the millionaires and billionaires leave, they're not
- 3:36Speaker 1: going to pay all these taxes and then and then
- 3:39Speaker 1: who's going to pay them?
- 3:40Speaker 2: Yeah. Hey, one thing about socialism that does work. Whenever
- 3:44Speaker 2: the government socialists, you know, when they try to help
- 3:46Speaker 2: the poor, somehow, it always ends up helping the rich
- 3:49Speaker 2: a lot more, very wealthy people do well.
- 3:52Speaker 1: Yeah, it is, That's absolutely true. And and you see that,
- 3:56Speaker 1: by the way, like California is another good example. You know,
- 3:59Speaker 1: the left always talks about, you know, the division of
- 4:02Speaker 1: wealth and the gap between the rich and poor. You
- 4:04Speaker 1: know what state has the biggest gap between rich and
- 4:06Speaker 1: poor California, And yet they have the most liberal you know,
- 4:09Speaker 1: and the second most you know, biggest gap between rich
- 4:12Speaker 1: and poors is in New York. Now, what's going to happen.
- 4:15Speaker 1: You're going to raise your taxes right on all the
- 4:18Speaker 1: rich people, and they're going to a lot of not
- 4:21Speaker 1: all of them, but a lot.
- 4:22Speaker 2: Of them will leave.
- 4:23Speaker 1: And you know, when the head of Citadel, Ken Griffin,
- 4:26Speaker 1: left Chicago. As you know, I grew up in Chicago,
- 4:29Speaker 1: so I followed Chicago very closely. And when I grew up,
- 4:31Speaker 1: it was one of the ten greatest cities on the planet.
- 4:34Speaker 1: And then they started electing these crazy, uh you know,
- 4:38Speaker 1: people like Brandon Johnson, and so these people like Ken
- 4:43Speaker 1: Griffin up and left. He's a billionaire, and all of
- 4:46Speaker 1: a sudden, all that he was the single biggest philanthropist
- 4:48Speaker 1: in the city. He you know, gave money to the
- 4:51Speaker 1: Museum of Science and Industry, all the homeless shelters, all
- 4:54Speaker 1: the food kitchens, all the you know, orphanages, blah blah blah.
- 4:57Speaker 1: And then they said, gee, what happened all that money?
- 5:00Speaker 1: Why isn't he given us money anymore? He didn't live
- 5:02Speaker 1: there anymore, you idiots.
- 5:03Speaker 2: He moved. Yeah, you know, he bought a two hundred
- 5:06Speaker 2: and fifty million dollar apartment right down this right two
- 5:09Speaker 2: blocks over on fifty ninth Street there. So yeah, but
- 5:12Speaker 2: I think he technically lives in Florida. So but give
- 5:15Speaker 2: people some hope. Then we go through this with the Blasio.
- 5:18Speaker 2: We got through eight years of him. Won't it It'll
- 5:20Speaker 2: be okay, won't it.
- 5:22Speaker 1: You know, yeah, I think it's not going to be
- 5:24Speaker 1: a disaster, but it's going to It's just going to
- 5:26Speaker 1: be a demise of New York City. And you know,
- 5:30Speaker 1: you know what's most maddening about this, or something you
- 5:33Speaker 1: can appreciate is, you know, when in the mid nineties
- 5:37Speaker 1: when Rudy Giuliani was elected mayor. And by the way,
- 5:40Speaker 1: Rudy was not a saint. I like Rudy a lot,
- 5:42Speaker 1: but you know he's not a saint. But he did
- 5:44Speaker 1: a lot of things that were just obvious. He cut taxes,
- 5:46Speaker 1: he reduced crime, he got rid of the graffiti and
- 5:49Speaker 1: the failth and the city, and he made it a
- 5:53Speaker 1: livable city again. And guess what, New York City had
- 5:56Speaker 1: a renaissance. And it was great to see. You could
- 5:59Speaker 1: see a week after you live there. Right during Rudy's
- 6:01Speaker 1: train you just got better and better and better. And
- 6:04Speaker 1: what's so sad is now you've got Mndonne coming, who's
- 6:08Speaker 1: going to go right back to the policies before Rudy
- 6:10Speaker 1: came in, and you were just going to see a decline,
- 6:12Speaker 1: and it's gonna be a steady and slow decline. But
- 6:16Speaker 1: it is going to happen because show me anywhere where
- 6:19Speaker 1: you raise taxes and it's it's made things better.
- 6:22Speaker 2: Hey, Steve Moore, all kinds of rumors coming out of
- 6:25Speaker 2: Washington that the shutdown will end on Friday. Democrats wanted
- 6:28Speaker 2: to use it in the election, that they'll make a
- 6:30Speaker 2: deal Friday.
- 6:31Speaker 1: What do you think, Well, I think they've been in
- 6:34Speaker 1: boldened by this election, which you know, which was a
- 6:37Speaker 1: big landslide for Democrats, and so now they feel like
- 6:41Speaker 1: they don't have to make a deal at least that's
- 6:42Speaker 1: what I'm hearing from my senate friends, that it's that's
- 6:45Speaker 1: making it harder to get a deal from them because
- 6:48Speaker 1: they want to stick it to Trump. But it's causing
- 6:50Speaker 1: real problems. I travel all the time. I missed your
- 6:53Speaker 1: show last week because I was on the road, and
- 6:55Speaker 1: you know, you get to the airports, now it's chaos,
- 6:58Speaker 1: you know, it really is. You know, it's seems like
- 7:00Speaker 1: twenty percent of the flights are either delayed or canceled,
- 7:03Speaker 1: and people you can't get through the security lines and
- 7:05Speaker 1: all of this stuff. And you know, the thing that's
- 7:07Speaker 1: so maddening, is this is exactly what the Democrats wanted.
- 7:10Speaker 1: They wanted the caves they want, the mayhem they want.
- 7:12Speaker 1: They wouldn't even open up the they wouldn't even pay
- 7:15Speaker 1: the military for goodness sakes.
- 7:18Speaker 2: Well, that's one good thing about the shutdown. We get
- 7:20Speaker 2: we have you here. We know you're going to be
- 7:21Speaker 2: here every Thursday with the shutdown.
- 7:23Speaker 1: Yeah, oh my gosh. But it's you know, look, this
- 7:27Speaker 1: is this is all going to turn out. And the
- 7:28Speaker 1: good news is, you know a lot of people said, oh,
- 7:30Speaker 1: the big problem right now they vote from any because
- 7:33Speaker 1: of the affordability crisis. So now I guess the government's
- 7:35Speaker 1: just going to give stuff away for free.
- 7:38Speaker 2: Yeah. Inflation. They hit Trump with this that you know,
- 7:42Speaker 2: he's problems with inflation. It's absolutely not true. Inflation was
- 7:47Speaker 2: very very high. It's coming down slowly, but it's coming down,
- 7:49Speaker 2: isn't it.
- 7:50Speaker 1: Yes, it is. Yeah. And you know people are angry,
- 7:53Speaker 1: like my wife about how much you pay for you know,
- 7:56Speaker 1: coffee and you know, beef and things like that. Well, yeah,
- 7:59Speaker 1: that's because they went up by twenty five percent when
- 8:01Speaker 1: when Biden was president, you know, And now the Democrats
- 8:04Speaker 1: are blaming and by the way, why did prices go
- 8:07Speaker 1: through the roof because they spent in borrowing five trillion dollars.
- 8:10Speaker 1: That's why.
- 8:11Speaker 2: As I remember long before Trump won, asking you how
- 8:15Speaker 2: long will it take for it to come down really
- 8:17Speaker 2: take effect, you said it will take a year to
- 8:20Speaker 2: really fix.
- 8:20Speaker 1: That, and he has. It's been nine months. He's already done.
- 8:23Speaker 1: I mean, we're at we're at three percent in place
- 8:25Speaker 1: right now, which is still above where we want to be.
- 8:27Speaker 1: But ladies and gentlemen, it went up to nine point
- 8:29Speaker 1: one percent under Biden. So that's one third as high
- 8:32Speaker 1: as it was when Biden was president. Uh so we're
- 8:35Speaker 1: making progress here. And by the way, the four percent
- 8:37Speaker 1: economic growth is what the Atlanta Feed is now saying
- 8:40Speaker 1: four percent. We never had four percent growth under Biden.
- 8:43Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, they throw in healthcare and educational cout.
- 8:48Speaker 2: That's not really a product of inflation. That's a whole
- 8:50Speaker 2: separate problem, isn't it.
- 8:52Speaker 1: The healthcare. You know, this is a real danger Mark
- 8:55Speaker 1: because I have some friends who called me yesterday sent
- 8:58Speaker 1: they just got their healthcare statement about what's going to
- 9:02Speaker 1: happen with their premiums next year that they pay for
- 9:05Speaker 1: their health care and they're going up twenty five to
- 9:07Speaker 1: thirty in some cases thirty five percent. That's not Trump
- 9:10Speaker 1: didn't wait a minute. Fifteen years ago, didn't we pass
- 9:13Speaker 1: something called the Affordable Care Act. I thought that was
- 9:16Speaker 1: going to get rid of all these price increases. You know,
- 9:18Speaker 1: since we've paid we passed the Affordable Care Act, the
- 9:21Speaker 1: cost of healthcare is tripled.
- 9:23Speaker 2: Yeah, and again not that's not an inflation. That's a
- 9:26Speaker 2: whole other situation causing that.
- 9:29Speaker 1: It's because we have the government running the healthcare system.
- 9:31Speaker 1: You know, what was the old line by what was
- 9:36Speaker 1: his name that the humorous PJ. O'Rourke used to say,
- 9:38Speaker 1: do you think healthcare is expensive? Now, wait till the
- 9:40Speaker 1: government gives it away for free?
- 9:44Speaker 2: Well, Steve Moore, great stuff. Everybody. Get his book, The
- 9:46Speaker 2: Trump Economic Miracle. You'll learn a lot. Also, you got

- 10:39Speaker 2: here nine o'clock on seven to ten WR
