- 0:05Speaker 1: Hello, friends from across the nation and around the world.
- 0:09Speaker 1: I'm Martin, and you are listening to another Dad's Bedtime
- 0:13Speaker 1: Stories super story where we go back into the Dad's
- 0:18Speaker 1: Bedtime Stories vault and put together a bit of a
- 0:21Speaker 1: compilation episode. Today or tonight, we're going to be sort
- 0:27Speaker 1: of finishing up on the Kid Wizard series with episode
- 0:32Speaker 1: seven and eight, if I remember correctly, Episode seven is
- 0:38Speaker 1: where you learn to control lightning magic, which is always
- 0:42Speaker 1: a fun time. And then episode eight you control time
- 0:46Speaker 1: magic and defeat Tyrannus rexingten youre arch enemy in this universe. Anyways,
- 0:55Speaker 1: I really hope you enjoy it, because now it's that
- 0:59Speaker 1: time again. Time to get as comfy as you can
- 1:03Speaker 1: in that bed, close your eyes and imagine yourself doing
- 1:08Speaker 1: what the kid in the story does. Imagine yourself walking
- 1:15Speaker 1: through the Wizarding Academy one day, a huge and ancient
- 1:20Speaker 1: castle with all sorts of hallways and rooms. You decide
- 1:25Speaker 1: it's time to visit the castle cafeteria. You tell the
- 1:30Speaker 1: castle what you're looking for, and a pathway on the
- 1:34Speaker 1: floor lights up with little arrows pointing you in the
- 1:38Speaker 1: right direction. You follow the arrows through the hall into
- 1:45Speaker 1: the main foyer, and then up a set of stairs
- 1:49Speaker 1: over the right and down another series of hallways. Eventually
- 1:55Speaker 1: it opens up into a huge cafeteria with a very
- 2:00Speaker 1: large balcony. Wizards of all different shapes, sizes, and colors
- 2:07Speaker 1: are all hanging out here. Some of them are talking,
- 2:11Speaker 1: others are eating. It's an absolute hub of wizarding activity.
- 2:18Speaker 1: The whole thing is set up like the food court
- 2:21Speaker 1: at a mall, a whole bunch of restaurants on every
- 2:24Speaker 1: different side, and a whole bunch of tables in the middle.
- 2:29Speaker 1: You search around, grab a tray of food, and pick
- 2:33Speaker 1: up a little bit of this and a little bit
- 2:36Speaker 1: of that from all of the different restaurants, until you
- 2:40Speaker 1: have a plate of food that you are very excited
- 2:44Speaker 1: to eat. On your way back to the table, you
- 2:48Speaker 1: hear a familiar voice.
- 2:52Speaker 2: No if it.
- 2:53Speaker 1: Isn't you, Oh no, you say, Tyrannus Rexington. What do
- 3:03Speaker 1: you want, Tyrannus? Oh me, Well, there's nothing I want
- 3:09Speaker 1: that I don't already have. Unlike you, I am a
- 3:15Speaker 1: well practiced file wizard, and recently my father has taught
- 3:22Speaker 1: me the art of lightning. Well that's that's really good
- 3:28Speaker 1: for you, Tyrannus it's cool, so you know lightning now,
- 3:32Speaker 1: great job. You should think it more great than you
- 3:37Speaker 1: seem to, kid, Tyrannus says. You decide to continue walking
- 3:44Speaker 1: in the other direction. There's no need to get into
- 3:47Speaker 1: some sort of duel or something like that right now.
- 3:51Speaker 1: Suddenly you feel a shock from behind. It jolts through
- 3:57Speaker 1: your entire body, causing you to throw your tray up
- 4:01Speaker 1: into the air and spill it all over the place.
- 4:05Speaker 1: When you look behind you, a little stream of smoke
- 4:09Speaker 1: is rising up from well, a little mark on your bum.
- 4:16Speaker 1: He just used lightning magic on you, you realize. You
- 4:23Speaker 1: turn to face Tyrannus. You clench both of your fists together,
- 4:29Speaker 1: and you begin to allow your power to spill out.
- 4:34Speaker 1: Ice spreads from your feet towards the other students when
- 4:39Speaker 1: you suddenly hear another familiar voice, Martin's, hey, kid, what
- 4:45Speaker 1: are you doing here? It looks like you're about to
- 4:49Speaker 1: burst a blood vessel or something. Come on, lighten up,
- 4:52Speaker 1: come with me. Martin turns you around and walks out
- 4:57Speaker 1: of the cafeteria behind him. Knowing that he's a trustworthy person,
- 5:04Speaker 1: you glance behind you at Tyrannus and all of his friends,
- 5:08Speaker 1: and they burst out laughing, slapping the table with joy. Boy,
- 5:13Speaker 1: did they get a kick out of that little electricity prank?
- 5:19Speaker 1: As you and Martin walk, he begins to speak to you, Well,
- 5:24Speaker 1: I hope you weren't about to try to take him
- 5:26Speaker 1: on lightnings, No laughing matter. If he's learned how to
- 5:31Speaker 1: control that, you need to learn how to be prepared
- 5:35Speaker 1: for it. Martin explains, well, how do I do that?
- 5:41Speaker 1: You ask, I'll show you, and you pick pretty much
- 5:46Speaker 1: everything up pretty quickly. So Eah, it shouldn't take long.
- 5:51Speaker 1: You and Martin walk through the hallways of the castle
- 5:54Speaker 1: until you eventually get to your training room once again.
- 5:59Speaker 1: The training is a huge, open area about the same
- 6:03Speaker 1: size as a gymnasium, only it's made with rock walls
- 6:08Speaker 1: instead of whatever gymnasiums are made of.
- 6:13Speaker 2: You stand in the.
- 6:13Speaker 1: Center of the room and Martin looks back towards you. Well,
- 6:19Speaker 1: lightning's really not that hard, especially if you understand how
- 6:25Speaker 1: it kind of works. You see, most lightning is caused
- 6:30Speaker 1: by the separation of positive man negative particles between a
- 6:35Speaker 1: cloud and the ground. What we're gonna do is called
- 6:39Speaker 1: the clapping method. It mimics that whole thing. First, take
- 6:46Speaker 1: one of your hands and imagine it pulling all of
- 6:50Speaker 1: the positive particles with it, as if it's a magnet.
- 6:55Speaker 1: Then take your other hand, man, imagine it pulling apart
- 6:59Speaker 1: all all of the negative particles like it's a magnet.
- 7:04Speaker 1: Then when you're ready, you let the two slap together. Man,
- 7:09Speaker 1: you unleash a bolt of lightning like this, Martin says,
- 7:15Speaker 1: clapping both of his hands together and unleashing a huge
- 7:20Speaker 1: bolt of electricity that flies across the room and destroys
- 7:25Speaker 1: part of the wall at the other side. WHOA, you say,
- 7:31Speaker 1: that was incredibly powerful. Yeah, and kind of hard to
- 7:36Speaker 1: control too. Honestly, lightning really isn't something you should mess
- 7:41Speaker 1: with unless you're with a trained professional like me, of course.
- 7:46Speaker 1: Now close your eyes and start to focus. You close
- 7:52Speaker 1: your eyes and do as Martin commands. Now, I want
- 7:58Speaker 1: you to start by focusing inward, sensing the natural electrical
- 8:05Speaker 1: energy within your body. Imagine each of your hands as
- 8:11Speaker 1: magnets ready to separate and gather the charge. One of
- 8:17Speaker 1: them is positive and the other is negative. Now picture
- 8:24Speaker 1: yourself actively pulling apart the positive and the negative charges
- 8:30Speaker 1: in the air around you. You might imagine one of
- 8:34Speaker 1: your hand gathering a cloud of negative charge. Think dark, dense,
- 8:41Speaker 1: crackling with static, while your other hand gathers positive things, light, bright,
- 8:49Speaker 1: and buzzing with energy.
- 8:51Speaker 2: You do just as he tells you.
- 8:55Speaker 1: You imagine your right hand is light, bright and buzzing
- 8:59Speaker 1: with energy. Well, your left hand is dark and dense,
- 9:04Speaker 1: crackling with static. You feel the different particles separating, You
- 9:11Speaker 1: feel them trying to pull themselves back together. But with
- 9:16Speaker 1: your continued focus, you keep them apart, drawing more and
- 9:21Speaker 1: more and more of them apart as you go. Now,
- 9:26Speaker 1: when you're ready, just clap your hands together. With that command,
- 9:32Speaker 1: you allow your hands to snap back together, and sure enough,
- 9:37Speaker 1: there's a sudden explosion of a light one that shoots
- 9:42Speaker 1: you straight backwards. You fall down onto the ground, not
- 9:47Speaker 1: really sure exactly what happened. Great work, Martin says, But
- 9:54Speaker 1: the next step I kind of forgot to mention. You
- 9:57Speaker 1: have to create a path for the energy to try travel,
- 10:01Speaker 1: otherwise it'll just kind of explode like that, which was hilarious.
- 10:05Speaker 2: By the way.
- 10:06Speaker 1: You should see the look on your face. Martin walks
- 10:10Speaker 1: over and grabs you by the hand, pulling you back up.
- 10:13Speaker 2: To your feet.
- 10:15Speaker 1: Now, air isn't normally the best conductor of electricity, so
- 10:21Speaker 1: you have to create a path within it. I like
- 10:25Speaker 1: to just imagine the path in my mind connecting from
- 10:29Speaker 1: my hands too, well, whatever it is I'm aiming for.
- 10:35Speaker 1: Then I imagine myself pushing all of the electrons out
- 10:40Speaker 1: of that part of air, kind of like this.
- 10:43Speaker 2: Here, grab my hand.
- 10:45Speaker 1: You hold Martin's hand for a second, and strangely, as
- 10:50Speaker 1: you close your eyes, you can see the path that
- 10:54Speaker 1: Martin sees. You see it appearing in the world in
- 10:58Speaker 1: front of you, and then you can sort of sense
- 11:03Speaker 1: little things being pushed out of the path, creating a
- 11:07Speaker 1: perfect channel through the air. Now, when you clap your
- 11:12Speaker 1: hands back together, the energy has somewhere else to go.
- 11:18Speaker 1: Martin snaps his thumb and forefinger together, creating a small
- 11:23Speaker 1: bolt of lightning that travels through the path he well
- 11:27Speaker 1: intended it to and hits one of the stones on
- 11:30Speaker 1: the other side.
- 11:33Speaker 2: Now it's your turn.
- 11:35Speaker 1: Okay, You repeat the exercise from before, making your hands
- 11:42Speaker 1: like little magnets, one pulling the negative energy and one
- 11:47Speaker 1: pulling the positive energy apart. Then you imagine a pathway
- 11:52Speaker 1: extending out in front of you and connecting to the
- 11:56Speaker 1: stone wall on the other side. You open the pathway
- 12:01Speaker 1: up by pushing out the electrons, just as you saw
- 12:06Speaker 1: Martin do a few moments ago. When the pathway feels
- 12:12Speaker 1: the same as it did for Martin, you allow your
- 12:15Speaker 1: hands to slam back together once again. There's a strong
- 12:20Speaker 1: burst of energy, but this time it shoots as an
- 12:24Speaker 1: arc of lightning and connects to the wall on the
- 12:28Speaker 1: other side, blowing up the rock instead of throwing you backwards.
- 12:35Speaker 1: That was amazing. I don't think anybody's ever gotten that
- 12:40Speaker 1: on the first dry before. Ah Well, keep working at it,
- 12:45Speaker 1: and as you go you don't actually have to use
- 12:49Speaker 1: your hands. You can use two fingers, and eventually you
- 12:55Speaker 1: can just use your mind to separate the electricity. You
- 13:00Speaker 1: continue to experiment for a long time. You start by
- 13:05Speaker 1: using the clap method, just as you've learned from Martin,
- 13:09Speaker 1: building up different amounts of electricity, creating paths for it,
- 13:14Speaker 1: and suddenly unleashing it. When you get that figured out,
- 13:20Speaker 1: you switch to using just your pointer finger and your thumb,
- 13:26Speaker 1: using your thumb to pull the positive energy, your pointer
- 13:30Speaker 1: to pull the negative, and letting the two snap back together,
- 13:35Speaker 1: creating a bolt of lightning. Soon enough, you can create
- 13:40Speaker 1: bolts of lightning in each hand with ease. The more
- 13:45Speaker 1: often you do it, the easier the process becomes, the
- 13:50Speaker 1: feeling of it, and the muscle memory solidifies inside your
- 13:54Speaker 1: head to the point where it starts to feel natural
- 13:58Speaker 1: to unleash the bolts of light lightening themselves. This is
- 14:03Speaker 1: so cool, you say, But what do I do if
- 14:07Speaker 1: someone attacks me with lightning? Now that's a great question.
- 14:13Speaker 2: Eh.
- 14:13Speaker 1: There's a few methods to that, but the most basic
- 14:18Speaker 1: one is to redirect it. What I like to do
- 14:23Speaker 1: is use my mind to create paths from well directly
- 14:27Speaker 1: in front of me to directly behind me, the same
- 14:32Speaker 1: kind of paths you use to direct the lightning in
- 14:35Speaker 1: the first place. Watch this, Martin says. He walks out
- 14:41Speaker 1: in front of you, standing between you and the wall
- 14:44Speaker 1: and the other end. Now hit me with a bolt
- 14:47Speaker 1: of electricity, Martin says. He reaches his hand out as
- 14:53Speaker 1: if it's gonna stop the bolt itself. Trusting Martin that
- 14:59Speaker 1: this probably won't hurt him too much. You gather electricity
- 15:04Speaker 1: and both of your hands. You separate the different charges,
- 15:09Speaker 1: and you allow them to clap together, sending them directly
- 15:13Speaker 1: towards Martin. But instead of the bolt hitting them it
- 15:19Speaker 1: just kind of curves around him and strikes the wall behind.
- 15:24Speaker 1: That was so cool. Let me try again. You send
- 15:29Speaker 1: bolts after bolts of lightning at Martin, but no matter
- 15:33Speaker 1: how many you try or how large you make them,
- 15:37Speaker 1: they all just curve around his body and hit the
- 15:40Speaker 1: wall behind. Now it's your turn, kid, Close your eyes
- 15:46Speaker 1: and just imagine different paths for the lightning to follow.
- 15:51Speaker 1: Open the paths, push out the negative particles and the electrons.
- 15:58Speaker 2: You do just that.
- 16:00Speaker 1: You imagine a series of different pathways for the lightning
- 16:05Speaker 1: moving from the front of you to behind you. You
- 16:11Speaker 1: focus on moving the electrons out of the different pathways,
- 16:16Speaker 1: leaving them extra conductive and ready for the lightning to
- 16:19Speaker 1: travel through them. All right, I think I got it,
- 16:24Speaker 1: you announce. Martin reaches out as one hand to the
- 16:29Speaker 1: left and his other hand to the right. He gathers
- 16:33Speaker 1: an immense amount of electricity and then slaps his hands together.
- 16:39Speaker 1: A bolt flies directly at you. You continue to just
- 16:43Speaker 1: focus on the pathways and imagine the bolt of lightning
- 16:47Speaker 1: traveling through them instead of through you, and sure enough,
- 16:52Speaker 1: it arcs right around you and strikes the wall behind.
- 16:58Speaker 1: You and Martin continue practice for a while, until you
- 17:02Speaker 1: have the basics down, until you're able to create a
- 17:06Speaker 1: shield of pathways around yourself that can deflect lightning in
- 17:11Speaker 1: all different directions. Great work, kid, Now, the only next
- 17:16Speaker 1: step is to try it in a real world situation,
- 17:20Speaker 1: speaking of which, I'll be right back. Martin suddenly leaves
- 17:26Speaker 1: the room. While he's gone, you practice shooting lightning bolts,
- 17:31Speaker 1: You practice redirecting them using different pathways, curving them around
- 17:37Speaker 1: and loops. And eventually Martin returns, Uh, where'd you go?
- 17:45Speaker 1: You ask?
- 17:46Speaker 2: Oh?
- 17:46Speaker 1: Nothing important, nothing important at all, Martin says, and then
- 17:51Speaker 1: his wand starts to pulse with energy. What's that you ask?
- 17:58Speaker 2: Oh? No, oh?
- 18:00Speaker 1: Martin says, that must be my alarm.
- 18:05Speaker 2: Let me check.
- 18:07Speaker 1: Martin picks up his wand and places it against his ear.
- 18:12Speaker 1: He begins nodding his head as if he's listening to
- 18:14Speaker 1: something on the phone. It's where Oh no, and and
- 18:20Speaker 1: what kind of creature? A lightning creature?
- 18:24Speaker 2: You say?
- 18:25Speaker 1: That's terrible. Now, don't worry the kid, and I'll be
- 18:30Speaker 1: right there. Something seems strange about Martin's voice. It sounds
- 18:37Speaker 1: more like acting than anything else. But you just kind
- 18:42Speaker 1: of shake it off. Uh, what was that you ask, well,
- 18:47Speaker 1: the bad news is there's some sort of lightning bird
- 18:51Speaker 1: creature headed directly for your house. But the good news
- 18:55Speaker 1: is you now know lightning and we can stop it.
- 19:00Speaker 1: Headed to my house. You ask, like, where my family is?
- 19:06Speaker 1: I can't we need to stop it. You say, no problem,
- 19:12Speaker 1: calm down. Martin summons his magic carpet and jumps aboard.
- 19:18Speaker 1: Come on, kid, no time to waste, he says, as
- 19:21Speaker 1: he flies off through the castle. You reach into your
- 19:26Speaker 1: pocket and pull out your backpack. You make it grow
- 19:30Speaker 1: just large enough to reach your hand in, and you
- 19:34Speaker 1: stick your arm right inside it, thinking about your magic skateboard.
- 19:40Speaker 1: You soon feel something in your hand and you pull
- 19:43Speaker 1: it out of the bag. It's your magic skateboard. You
- 19:46Speaker 1: place it onto the ground, climb aboard, and with just
- 19:51Speaker 1: a thought, your feet lock onto it, and the skateboard
- 19:55Speaker 1: shoots forward, flying through the halls of the castle, out
- 19:59Speaker 1: the door or and up into the air towards the
- 20:02Speaker 1: tree portal that you first got here through. Using the
- 20:07Speaker 1: tree portal, you and Martin head back to the real world.
- 20:13Speaker 1: You fly high above it, just below the clouds, until
- 20:18Speaker 1: you see familiar territory, your home, and sure enough, there's
- 20:24Speaker 1: some sort of strange lightning cloud in the distance. What
- 20:31Speaker 1: why is this thing attacking my house?
- 20:33Speaker 2: You ask?
- 20:35Speaker 1: I don't know, Martin responds, but you're gonna have to
- 20:41Speaker 1: use your new found powers to find out.
- 20:45Speaker 2: You're starting to.
- 20:46Speaker 1: Get awfully suspicious of Martin, but with some sort of
- 20:50Speaker 1: lightning thing heading towards your house, there's no time to
- 20:55Speaker 1: think about it. You fly directly above your home and
- 20:59Speaker 1: you begin to hover there on your magic skateboard a
- 21:04Speaker 1: cloud of lightning, and well, cloud starts to approach you.
- 21:11Speaker 1: Lightning shoots out in all different directions, and it stops
- 21:17Speaker 1: just above your home. If I were you, I'd do
- 21:22Speaker 1: that lightning deflection thing and maybe don't aim it for
- 21:27Speaker 1: your house, Martin says. You look up at the huge
- 21:32Speaker 1: cloud of lightning. It's getting meaner and scarier looking. So
- 21:38Speaker 1: you do just as Martin says. You begin to imagine
- 21:42Speaker 1: pathways appearing above you and then winding around to the
- 21:47Speaker 1: ground just outside your house. You create pathway after pathway
- 21:53Speaker 1: after pathway. I'm essentially creating a protective shield around your home.
- 22:00Speaker 1: The lightning cloud suddenly surges with electricity. A bolt of
- 22:05Speaker 1: lightning flies down towards you, but luckily It follows the
- 22:10Speaker 1: path you've created and strikes the ground harmlessly beside your home.
- 22:18Speaker 1: I can't believe that worked. You say, keep focusing, kid,
- 22:24Speaker 1: and you do. You focus on the cloud above you,
- 22:29Speaker 1: and time after time lightning begins shooting out of the cloud,
- 22:34Speaker 1: and time after time you deflect it. The question is,
- 22:39Speaker 1: how exactly are you going to stop this thing? It
- 22:42Speaker 1: seems to just keep happening. And then you get an idea.
- 22:49Speaker 1: You redirect the pathways from around your house and point
- 22:54Speaker 1: them back towards the cloud itself leashes another series of
- 23:02Speaker 1: lightning bolts, but this time, as they reach just above
- 23:06Speaker 1: your head, they hit one of your pathways, curve around,
- 23:12Speaker 1: and head right back towards the cloud, creating a small explosion.
- 23:19Speaker 1: The cloud unleashes more bolts of lightning, and again the
- 23:24Speaker 1: bolts travel through one of the pathways, curve back up,
- 23:28Speaker 1: and slam into the cloud, creating even larger explosions. Suddenly,
- 23:35Speaker 1: something starts to fall out of the cloud, something that's
- 23:40Speaker 1: on fire. It hits the ground just beside your house,
- 23:45Speaker 1: and the cloud itself just disappears.
- 23:50Speaker 2: What is that? You ask?
- 23:54Speaker 1: You and Martin fly down to check it out. As
- 23:57Speaker 1: you land on the ground. You see a large blue
- 24:02Speaker 1: bird the size of well, the size that you'd imagine
- 24:07Speaker 1: a terodactyl to be, laying there on the ground sparking
- 24:12Speaker 1: with electricity. Wow, how did my pet lightning bird get here?
- 24:20Speaker 1: Martin says, your pet lightning bird?
- 24:26Speaker 2: You mean you did this?
- 24:30Speaker 1: I shared did And there's nothing like real world experience
- 24:34Speaker 1: to solidify a power after all, Martin says, well, that
- 24:39Speaker 1: ends our session for today.
- 24:41Speaker 2: See you next time. Buddy.
- 24:43Speaker 1: Martin pulls out his backpack, opens it up, and suddenly
- 24:48Speaker 1: jumps inside match a carpet and all the backpack then
- 24:52Speaker 1: just disappears from existence. You stand there and shock, learning
- 24:59Speaker 1: that you're very You mentor planned this attack just to
- 25:02Speaker 1: test you. Oh well, eh, at least you're at your house.
- 25:09Speaker 1: You haven't been there in a while. You lift up
- 25:12Speaker 1: your skateboard and tuck it back inside your backpack, where
- 25:15Speaker 1: it kind of disappears into the little pocket dimension you
- 25:19Speaker 1: have created there. You head inside your house, say hello
- 25:25Speaker 1: to your family for a little while, and then head
- 25:29Speaker 1: to your bedroom. You pull back the covers and you
- 25:34Speaker 1: climb inside your bed. You're pretty tired from all this
- 25:39Speaker 1: creating and redirecting lightning thing, but you do feel pretty powerful.
- 25:46Speaker 1: As a result, you begin to just focus on your breath,
- 25:53Speaker 1: and with each breath you release a little more tension
- 26:00Speaker 1: with your arms and then your legs, just letting them
- 26:05Speaker 1: sink down deeper and deeper into the mattress. You notice
- 26:13Speaker 1: any tension in your shoulders and you let it go,
- 26:19Speaker 1: allowing them to just kind of sink down into the
- 26:22Speaker 1: mattress as well. You notice any tension in your stomach
- 26:29Speaker 1: or your chest, and with each out breath, you just
- 26:33Speaker 1: let it go. With each breath, you sink down deeper
- 26:40Speaker 1: and deeper into the mattress, feeling more and more relaxed
- 26:45Speaker 1: each time.
- 26:50Speaker 2: Last, you notice any tension in.
- 26:52Speaker 1: Your neck, your head, or your face, and you let
- 26:58Speaker 1: it fall away way as well. Soon, with a nice
- 27:04Speaker 1: half smile on your face, you begin to focus your
- 27:09Speaker 1: mind on your next adventure. You can go anywhere, and
- 27:15Speaker 1: you can do anything. The only limit is your imagination.
- 27:24Speaker 1: Good night everyone. Imagine yourself waking up inside your little
- 27:30Speaker 1: pocket dimension, a place tucked away inside a backpack that
- 27:37Speaker 1: has a bed, kitchen, living room, and anything else you
- 27:41Speaker 1: could really want. You get out of bed, you stretch
- 27:45Speaker 1: your arms and legs. You grab a little breakfast from
- 27:49Speaker 1: the kitchen area, and then you begin to climb up
- 27:53Speaker 1: the ladder, a ladder that leads to a little hatch
- 27:57Speaker 1: at the top of the pocket dimension. As you get
- 28:01Speaker 1: to the top of the ladder, you unzip the hatch
- 28:05Speaker 1: above you, also known as the top of your backpack.
- 28:11Speaker 1: Then you climb the rest of the way up the
- 28:14Speaker 1: ladder and find yourself standing in the middle of the
- 28:18Speaker 1: training hall. You reach down and grab the backpack and
- 28:24Speaker 1: placing it between both hands, you sort of squish them together,
- 28:30Speaker 1: and as you do, the backpack automatically shrinks. It shrinks
- 28:36Speaker 1: and shrinks and shrinks until it's a little keychain sized
- 28:41Speaker 1: backpack that you tuck away in your pocket. Magic really
- 28:45Speaker 1: is pretty amazing, after all. While you're looking around the room,
- 28:51Speaker 1: another backpack suddenly appears out of nowhere, lands on the floor,
- 28:57Speaker 1: and you see the zipper unzip. Out of the top
- 29:01Speaker 1: of the backpack emerges a very bald, very bearded, and
- 29:08Speaker 1: very wizardy sort of man.
- 29:11Speaker 2: Martin.
- 29:13Speaker 1: Oh, Hey, good morning, kid, Martin says, I've really been thinking.
- 29:19Speaker 1: I've taught you lightning magic, I've taught you fire magic.
- 29:25Speaker 1: I've taught you how to lift things with your mind.
- 29:29Speaker 1: You kind of learned the ice magic thing on your own. Man,
- 29:33Speaker 1: I even taught you nature magic. The question is what's
- 29:38Speaker 1: the most important type of magic to use next? And
- 29:44Speaker 1: then it hit me, time magic. It's basically something you've
- 29:50Speaker 1: already learned a little of when you were doing the
- 29:53Speaker 1: nature magic, and it happens to be one of my specialties,
- 30:00Speaker 1: Martin explains. You see, Martins are known throughout space, time,
- 30:08Speaker 1: and across different universes for their command and control of
- 30:14Speaker 1: time and space magic. In fact, many of my counterparts
- 30:21Speaker 1: from different parts of the multiverse are in charge of
- 30:26Speaker 1: keeping the multiverse safe, and I try not to get
- 30:30Speaker 1: involved with that too often, but sometimes I get dragged
- 30:34Speaker 1: into it either way. As a result, I've really figured
- 30:40Speaker 1: out this time magic thing.
- 30:44Speaker 3: You have.
- 30:46Speaker 1: What is time magic anyways? Like you mean like time travel?
- 30:52Speaker 1: Well sort of, I mean you can kind of time
- 30:58Speaker 1: travel to a place you've been before. But what I'm
- 31:03Speaker 1: really talking about is controlling the speed of existence. Cool,
- 31:12Speaker 1: you respond, not really sure what Martin's talking about. You see,
- 31:19Speaker 1: the speed of existence is very different than the speed
- 31:23Speaker 1: of movement. You can run from one place to another
- 31:28Speaker 1: incredibly quickly, but can you exist faster? That's the real question.
- 31:36Speaker 1: You stand there staring at Martin with your eyes wide open,
- 31:42Speaker 1: completely confused as to what it is he's talking about.
- 31:47Speaker 1: Uh see, you're not really getting this. Well, have you
- 31:51Speaker 1: ever seen one of those superhero movies, like one where
- 31:56Speaker 1: the superpowered character is moving super fast and they show
- 32:01Speaker 1: that by slowing down everything else around them.
- 32:07Speaker 3: Uh?
- 32:07Speaker 2: Yeah, I have seen that.
- 32:09Speaker 1: Before you respond, well, i'd consider that not to be
- 32:16Speaker 1: moving fast, but existing fast. Every part of your body
- 32:23Speaker 1: exists at a faster pace compared to you. Everything else
- 32:28Speaker 1: seems very very slow, But in reality, it's because you
- 32:36Speaker 1: are existing very very fast, your mind, your body, your everything.
- 32:45Speaker 1: On the other hand, you could exist slower than everything else.
- 32:50Speaker 1: It would seem like everybody was flying by you in
- 32:54Speaker 1: a blur. Day would turn to night quicker than you
- 32:58Speaker 1: could imagine. It's really not as useful. And unless you
- 33:03Speaker 1: want to travel to the future, of course, But going back,
- 33:07Speaker 1: Oh boy is that hard, honestly, kid, and I don't
- 33:12Speaker 1: recommend it. It's uh well, he can have some serious consequences.
- 33:19Speaker 1: Oh okay, So what do we start with first? And
- 33:24Speaker 1: what exactly is time magic useful for? You?
- 33:28Speaker 2: Ask?
- 33:29Speaker 1: But before Martin can even respond, he just kind of disappears.
- 33:35Speaker 1: You feel a tap on your right shoulder and you
- 33:39Speaker 1: turn around to see him standing right there. Did you
- 33:43Speaker 1: just teleport? You ask?
- 33:47Speaker 2: Nah, not exactly.
- 33:49Speaker 1: I just shifted into a faster speed of existence and
- 33:53Speaker 1: then walked over behind you before you could even tell.
- 33:58Speaker 2: Oh. Wow.
- 34:01Speaker 1: You begin to imagine all the uses for such a power.
- 34:05Speaker 1: You'd have time to stop and think about a situation
- 34:10Speaker 1: you could get out of, almost any trouble you could
- 34:13Speaker 1: get yourself into. It certainly seems like a very useful power.
- 34:20Speaker 1: All right, Well, how do I do this time magic thing?
- 34:25Speaker 2: You ask?
- 34:27Speaker 1: Well, like anything else, Martin responds, there's a lot of
- 34:32Speaker 1: ways to do it, But now I'm gonna start you
- 34:36Speaker 1: out with the way I learned basically. Anyways, Now let's
- 34:40Speaker 1: sit down on the ground. You and Martin both sit
- 34:45Speaker 1: down on the ground, your legs crossed. Martin places his
- 34:50Speaker 1: hands in his lap and what looks like a meditation pose.
- 34:56Speaker 1: You copy what he's doing and listen very carefully. All right, First,
- 35:04Speaker 1: like anything, you've got to relax. You have to center
- 35:09Speaker 1: yourself in a place where anything is possible. You do
- 35:15Speaker 1: your best to do just that. You close your eyes,
- 35:19Speaker 1: You begin to anchor on your breath, noticing your stomach
- 35:24Speaker 1: as it goes in and out. And as you do,
- 35:32Speaker 1: you start to focus your mind on a memory, a
- 35:36Speaker 1: memory that makes you feel very relaxed, very happy, a
- 35:45Speaker 1: feeling of things being completely unlimited, all of the possibilities
- 35:52Speaker 1: in the world set out before you. A good job, kid,
- 35:58Speaker 1: Martin says, now that you're in the right state, I
- 36:03Speaker 1: need you to focus on going faster now. I know,
- 36:09Speaker 1: I know what you're thinking. You're thinking your goal is
- 36:12Speaker 1: to slow down time. Man, well, I guess you could
- 36:17Speaker 1: try to do that. Slowing down everything else is way
- 36:22Speaker 1: way more difficult than just speeding yourself up. Time is relative,
- 36:28Speaker 1: after all, So just imagine yourself going faster. Imagine every
- 36:37Speaker 1: part of your body, every cell, every molecule, every atom,
- 36:45Speaker 1: every electron, moving faster, vibrating faster, man, just generally going faster.
- 36:58Speaker 1: With your eyes closed, you begin to imagine just that.
- 37:05Speaker 1: You imagine every cell in your body is starting to
- 37:08Speaker 1: move at a faster rate. And then you imagine even smaller,
- 37:15Speaker 1: every molecule, every atom vibrating at a faster pace. And
- 37:22Speaker 1: as you do, and you continue to repeat faster, faster,
- 37:29Speaker 1: faster inside your mind, your body starts to feel a
- 37:35Speaker 1: little bit strange, a little like you've had way too
- 37:40Speaker 1: much candy or something like that. And as you open
- 37:45Speaker 1: your eyes, you see that Martin has almost entirely stopped moving.
- 37:55Speaker 1: I mean, he's still moving a little bit. You watch
- 37:59Speaker 1: as his eye blinks at an incredibly slow pace. You
- 38:06Speaker 1: stand up. Your body's still feeling like it's buzzing with
- 38:11Speaker 1: energy and like you're full of sugar. You walk around
- 38:16Speaker 1: the room and everything else is frozen.
- 38:19Speaker 2: Two.
- 38:20Speaker 1: You run towards the door that opens up into the
- 38:23Speaker 1: room and you push on it, hoping to open it up,
- 38:28Speaker 1: and fortunately for you, what happens is far more destructive.
- 38:35Speaker 1: And as you push on the wooden door that leads
- 38:38Speaker 1: into the training area, the door just sort of falls
- 38:43Speaker 1: apart in your hands. It begins to break into thousands
- 38:47Speaker 1: of little wood chunks and pieces. The pieces move quickly
- 38:52Speaker 1: at first, but then slow down as they move away
- 38:56Speaker 1: from you and begin flying through the air. Did you
- 39:01Speaker 1: just destroy the door? I guess if you're moving faster,
- 39:10Speaker 1: then it was as if the door was hit with
- 39:13Speaker 1: something moving at an incredible speed. You never really considered
- 39:19Speaker 1: this aspect of the power. Not only can you move
- 39:24Speaker 1: very fast, but as a result, you are incredibly strong,
- 39:30Speaker 1: at least compared to other things moving at a different pace.
- 39:36Speaker 1: You carefully walk through the halls of the Magic Academy,
- 39:41Speaker 1: and as you do, everything you see around you is
- 39:45Speaker 1: frozen in place. Who are almost frozen in place?
- 39:50Speaker 2: Anyways?
- 39:51Speaker 1: The people walk in a very strange looking slow motion.
- 39:58Speaker 1: You easily walk between them, dodging between one person and
- 40:03Speaker 1: another person. You walk up the stairs and through the hallway,
- 40:08Speaker 1: and wherever you go it's as if you're watching a
- 40:13Speaker 1: slow motion video. You continue to walk down the hall
- 40:18Speaker 1: until you hear.
- 40:19Speaker 2: A voice, Hey kid, wait up.
- 40:23Speaker 1: You turn around to look behind you, and you see
- 40:27Speaker 1: Martin running down the hall after you. And that took
- 40:31Speaker 1: me a second to get in this mode too. I
- 40:35Speaker 1: can't believe you did it and you're able to sustain
- 40:39Speaker 1: the power this long. It's cool, isn't it? Martin says,
- 40:45Speaker 1: it's really really cool. You respond. You and Martin continue
- 40:51Speaker 1: to walk through the hall of slow motion people, carefully
- 40:56Speaker 1: dodging around them. By the way, I think I kind
- 41:01Speaker 1: of wrecked the door to the training area. Oh yeah,
- 41:05Speaker 1: and I saw that. Don't worry about it. Happened to
- 41:09Speaker 1: me the first time I went into slow or fast
- 41:13Speaker 1: motion whatever we're calling this thing. You see, when you're
- 41:17Speaker 1: existing at this speed, you have a higher time density.
- 41:24Speaker 1: It might feel like you're just pushing on a door
- 41:28Speaker 1: or something like that, but to the door, it feels
- 41:31Speaker 1: like it's being hit by an object going hundreds, if
- 41:36Speaker 1: not thousands, of miles an hour. Man, As you can imagine,
- 41:42Speaker 1: doors don't really like being hit at thousands of miles
- 41:46Speaker 1: per hour by anything. I mean that those speeds a
- 41:50Speaker 1: paper airplane could blow a door apart. It's honestly pretty crazy.
- 41:56Speaker 1: You and Martin walk into the cafeteria of the school
- 42:00Speaker 1: once again. You see a very strange, very slow motion
- 42:06Speaker 1: seen unfolding in front of you. You see people eating food,
- 42:11Speaker 1: people getting food, people sitting at tables and laughing with
- 42:16Speaker 1: one another. And then you see Tyrannus. Tyrannus Rexington. He
- 42:25Speaker 1: and his friends are hanging out at a table, but
- 42:29Speaker 1: they're clearly bullying, if not torturing, some.
- 42:34Speaker 2: Of the other students.
- 42:37Speaker 1: You walk over to Wardam to see exactly what's going on.
- 42:42Speaker 1: You see Tyrannus pointing as wand towards another student and
- 42:48Speaker 1: unleashing a tiny bolt of lightning, just like he did
- 42:53Speaker 1: to you.
- 42:54Speaker 2: The other day.
- 42:57Speaker 1: You can see the lightning moving and slow motion as
- 43:02Speaker 1: the boy slowly reacts to getting hit in the bum
- 43:07Speaker 1: by a bolt of lightning. It's a very strange scene
- 43:12Speaker 1: to behold that little I am not letting him get
- 43:17Speaker 1: away with this, you announced to Martin, and I wouldn't
- 43:21Speaker 1: expect anything less.
- 43:23Speaker 2: Kid.
- 43:24Speaker 1: Just keep it civil, okay, Oh, I'm not sinking to
- 43:28Speaker 1: his level. You respond, in your very fast state of existence.
- 43:36Speaker 1: You walk over to Tyrannus. You examine the scene taking
- 43:41Speaker 1: place in front of you, and you come up with
- 43:45Speaker 1: a clever plan. It was just the other day that
- 43:49Speaker 1: Martin taught you how to control lightning, and you think
- 43:54Speaker 1: you might have a use for it. Now, you focus
- 43:59Speaker 1: your mind on creating a path for the lightning, a
- 44:04Speaker 1: path free of charge. You watch the path move through
- 44:09Speaker 1: the air from just behind the student being hit by
- 44:14Speaker 1: the lightning bolt, curving around through the air right back
- 44:20Speaker 1: to Tyrannus Rexington's toe. As you solidify the path, you
- 44:27Speaker 1: watch as the slow motion lightning stops hitting the child
- 44:34Speaker 1: and moves into the pathway. It slowly curves around arcs
- 44:39Speaker 1: back towards Tyrannus and strikes him in the toe. You
- 44:46Speaker 1: watch as his face very very slowly turns from one
- 44:51Speaker 1: of laughter and happiness to one of sudden pain and anger.
- 45:00Speaker 2: Ah.
- 45:00Speaker 1: I kind of want to talk to him, you say
- 45:03Speaker 1: to Martin, how do we get out of this thing?
- 45:06Speaker 2: Well, well, that's a lot easier.
- 45:08Speaker 1: You just kind of relax, take a deep breath, let
- 45:13Speaker 1: go of all the tension and your arms and legs. Man,
- 45:17Speaker 1: just give yourself permission to stop existing so quickly. Taking
- 45:23Speaker 1: a long, deep breath always helps with that sort of thing.
- 45:27Speaker 2: You do.
- 45:28Speaker 1: Just that, you breathe in as much as you possibly can,
- 45:33Speaker 1: and you breathe out very quickly, focusing on relaxing all
- 45:39Speaker 1: of your muscles and allowing time to return to normal. Suddenly,
- 45:46Speaker 1: all of the noise of the cafeteria fills your ears,
- 45:50Speaker 1: and people start to move at their normal pace, including
- 45:54Speaker 1: Tyrannus Rexington, who suddenly jumping up and down on one foot,
- 46:00Speaker 1: yelling and pain. Who who did this? Tyrannus says it
- 46:07Speaker 1: was you, wasn't it. He goes on to accuse, well,
- 46:14Speaker 1: you know what, Tyrannus, it was me. Well, actually it
- 46:19Speaker 1: was kind of you. It was your own lightning bolt,
- 46:22Speaker 1: after all?
- 46:24Speaker 3: Why you little ungrateful, normal, non magic person I challenge
- 46:35Speaker 3: you to undouel.
- 46:38Speaker 2: Oh a duel? You say, let's do it.
- 46:45Speaker 1: The entire cafeteria suddenly goes silent, and everyone walks out
- 46:51Speaker 1: onto the balcony of the courtyard. You and Tyrannas step
- 46:57Speaker 1: into a little dueling area, one that you visited on
- 47:01Speaker 1: your very first day in the castle. You pull the
- 47:06Speaker 1: wand out of your pocket and Tyrannus does the same thing.
- 47:12Speaker 1: All right, kids, Martin says, are you all ready for
- 47:18Speaker 1: a duel? The crowd erupts with loud cheers and applause.
- 47:25Speaker 1: The kids here really seem to like duels. There's just
- 47:30Speaker 1: a couple rules. Number one, nothing lethal. Mall spells must
- 47:37Speaker 1: be safe, even if they are designed to knock out
- 47:42Speaker 1: your opponent or something like that. If one opponent is
- 47:47Speaker 1: incapacitated or well gives up, the other wizard wins. We
- 47:55Speaker 1: will begin in three two one. As soon as he
- 48:03Speaker 1: announces the word one, you shift back into your time mode.
- 48:11Speaker 1: You find it a little easier to do this time,
- 48:14Speaker 1: urging yourself to move faster and faster, but your body
- 48:20Speaker 1: figures it out much more quickly than the first time.
- 48:24Speaker 1: You don't speed up quite as much as last time either,
- 48:28Speaker 1: but you do speed up enough that everything around you
- 48:32Speaker 1: seems very slow. Tyrannus unleashes a bolt of lightning from
- 48:40Speaker 1: the tip of his want. The lightning moves towards you
- 48:44Speaker 1: pretty quickly, but with enough time to see it coming
- 48:49Speaker 1: and enough time to form protective paths for the lightning
- 48:54Speaker 1: from directly in front of you to directly back at Tyrannus.
- 49:01Speaker 1: You watch as the lightning slowly hits the paths, curves around,
- 49:06Speaker 1: and once again strikes Tyrannus in the toe. He jumps
- 49:12Speaker 1: up and down in slow motion pain. This new time
- 49:17Speaker 1: power is an absolute game changer. There's hundreds, if not thousands,
- 49:23Speaker 1: of ways you could win this duel. Moving at a
- 49:26Speaker 1: different speed is an advantage like almost no other. But
- 49:33Speaker 1: watching Tyrannus jump up and down in pain and looking
- 49:38Speaker 1: kind of angry while holding his foot.
- 49:42Speaker 2: Gives you an idea.
- 49:45Speaker 1: You speed yourself even more, with the result of slowing
- 49:49Speaker 1: everything else down even more, until Tyrannus is just about
- 49:54Speaker 1: frozen in place, holding his toe with both of his hands,
- 49:59Speaker 1: and when singing pain, pain that he clearly caused himself.
- 50:05Speaker 1: Seeing him like this like a statue, makes you think
- 50:10Speaker 1: that Tyrannus would make a very good statue, but how
- 50:16Speaker 1: exactly can you make him a statue for everyone else?
- 50:22Speaker 1: As you think through the possibilities, you remember the nature
- 50:26Speaker 1: magic you learned, where you were able to affect the
- 50:31Speaker 1: speed and movement of plants, causing them to grow faster. Clearly,
- 50:37Speaker 1: it must be possible to turn down other people's time, rhythm,
- 50:43Speaker 1: or whatever you might call it. You walk up towards
- 50:48Speaker 1: Tyrannus and you look at him, very, very carefully. You
- 50:56Speaker 1: begin to imagine him existing slower, even slower than he
- 51:03Speaker 1: already is. You pull your wand out, you point it
- 51:08Speaker 1: towards him, and you allow your energy and his energy
- 51:15Speaker 1: to become one. As you focus on Tyrannus, you focus
- 51:21Speaker 1: on the opposite of what you focused on to move faster.
- 51:27Speaker 1: You imagine every bit of him moving even slower, until
- 51:34Speaker 1: it's basically stopped. It's hard to tell since you're moving
- 51:41Speaker 1: so quickly, but it's as if he looks less solid,
- 51:47Speaker 1: almost like a ghost. Moving at this speed, you can
- 51:52Speaker 1: see the space between his atoms. It's really strange, but
- 51:58Speaker 1: you're pretty sure you've accomplish your task. You close your eyes,
- 52:04Speaker 1: you take in a slow, deep, breath, and as you
- 52:09Speaker 1: release it, you relax all of your muscles, and time
- 52:14Speaker 1: shoots back to normal, well for everyone other than Tyrannus,
- 52:20Speaker 1: who's suddenly stuck standing right in front of you in
- 52:25Speaker 1: the exact same pose he was before, looking like a statue,
- 52:32Speaker 1: perfectly healthy, perfectly fine, but moving at such a slow
- 52:36Speaker 1: speed that it'll take him a while to figure out
- 52:40Speaker 1: how to get out of that, and in the meantime,
- 52:44Speaker 1: the courtyard will have a very beautiful statue. The crowd
- 52:50Speaker 1: around you cheers once they figure out that you've won
- 52:53Speaker 1: the thing. A great job, kid, that's certainly something I
- 52:59Speaker 1: never even tie. You put your hands together for kid, wizard,
- 53:05Speaker 1: I keep forgetting asked the kid's name, Martin says, and
- 53:09Speaker 1: the crowd cheers even louder, and you begin to feel
- 53:16Speaker 1: pretty tired. You say you good bye to Martin and
- 53:20Speaker 1: you walk away from the cafeteria. You've only been awake
- 53:25Speaker 1: for a short time, but it feels like a much
- 53:29Speaker 1: much longer time, probably because of the speed you were
- 53:34Speaker 1: existing at. You reach into your pocket, pull out the
- 53:38Speaker 1: little keychain sized backpack, put a hand on each side
- 53:44Speaker 1: of it, and open your hands apart, like you're zooming
- 53:49Speaker 1: in on a touch screen. With that, the backpack grows
- 53:55Speaker 1: to normal size, if not a bit larger. You place
- 53:59Speaker 1: it on the ground, unzip it, and climb inside, climbing
- 54:05Speaker 1: down a little ladder. The zipper closes above you, and
- 54:11Speaker 1: presumably the backpack disappears from existence as well. You immediately
- 54:18Speaker 1: climb into your comfortable bed. You pull the covers up
- 54:22Speaker 1: over top of yourself, and you close your eyes, just
- 54:28Speaker 1: like you did when you were shifting out of your
- 54:32Speaker 1: fast time mode. You take a long, deep breath and
- 54:37Speaker 1: then release it quickly, allowing all of the tension to
- 54:42Speaker 1: drain away from your.
- 54:43Speaker 2: Arms and your legs.
- 54:47Speaker 1: You sink down deeper and deeper into the mattress with
- 54:51Speaker 1: each breath, and slowly you close your eyes, and you
- 55:00Speaker 1: allow your mind to drift off to dreams of new
- 55:05Speaker 1: things and new adventures to come. Good Night, everyone, Sai.
