- 1:42transformative power of resourcefulness and resilience two traits essential for long term success
- 1:47explore the philosophy of winning the day how clarity and intent shape your actions and why
- 1:52aligning your daily goals with a bigger purpose is the key to sustainable growth and fulfillment
- 2:07so there's a few things that i want to unpack we'll understand like the win the day philosophy
- 2:12but before we go into that because that's the the current thesis that you've come to understand
- 2:18that started help people the most but you derive that thesis from the people that you interacted
- 2:23with when you uprooted your life and you went all over the world for your MBA and you worked with
- 2:28all these entrepreneurs so what is the difference what is the i mean there's like probably unlimited
- 2:33differences that you can pinpoint but what is that like one thing that that the person who has
- 2:38intent that is building something that has their purpose in the world what allowed them to do that
- 2:44at a certain age or at any capacity that you originally didn't have that the person who's
- 2:51listening to this knows what an entrepreneur looks like but they're like that's not me i've never
- 2:56done that what is that one thing that differentiated you i think there's really two traits that this
- 3:04comes back to thinking garbage talks about yeah if i can be permitted to have two thinking
- 3:09garbage talks about 13 principles of success but the two that if you had to really break it down
- 3:15i just i don't think you can have success without these two things and i think you can have extraordinary
- 3:19success over the long term when you have these two attributes and these are the most important
- 3:23things i want to have it my clients that i want to have it my children that i want to have it my
- 3:26friends the first one is resourcefulness meaning that you can acquire anything that you want
- 3:31and the second one is resilience meaning that when adversity inevitably strikes that you will
- 3:36keep moving forward i think if you have those two things then the the sky is a limit to what you
- 3:42can achieve and when i look back at the person that i mentioned at the start of our chat today
- 3:47who was in his early 20s i didn't have resourcefulness really i didn't have any resilience i was
- 3:52busy blaming other people but the fact that it reached a point where to me it was literally life
- 3:57threatening if i had gone down that path i have absolutely no doubt how that would have
- 4:02unfolded zero doubt in my in my mind and it's why i'm so passionate about helping people
- 4:08to have a similar realization in their lives i love that so let's talk about let's talk about how
- 4:14you codify all the principles all the lessons that you've learned into that one sentence win the day
- 4:21because there's win the day and then there's like extreme focus and intent and a word that i picked
- 4:27upon your website actually is clarity which i love so win the day to me i want to understand that
- 4:32because win the day means like i'm winning today and when i think about winning today that's great
- 4:38but it doesn't in my mind immediately make me think tomorrow or the next day or six years for 10
- 4:43years or 20 years from now it's literally today so walking through i winning the day is important
- 4:48for the long-term vision the focus and the clarity well the whole where i first got this trauma was
- 4:54when i was reading and rereading and rereading thinking garbage by Napoleon Hill which was part of my
- 4:58role of writing the book thinking garbage the legacy i needed to know that text inside of
- 5:02out also as a producer of the film and there was one passage that kept standing out to me and that
- 5:07was that any mind that is not preoccupied with being success conscious will automatically be overtaken
- 5:13by the poverty conscious and i was like wow that is so interesting and it kept it kept coming back
- 5:18to me and then i was like well how do i say that in a way that people can understand and then i
- 5:23thought will each day if you do not make the decision to win you have automatically made the decision
- 5:28to lose and then it was like huh win the day if we can focus on winning the day and then i started
- 5:33thinking more and more i by brainstorm more and more about this concept and that's what i thought
- 5:38about where do people's anxiety and fear and worry and stress live they don't live in the present
- 5:43they live in the future worrying about something that's about to happen or they live in the past
- 5:48when they're freaking out about something that they might have done a year ago or yesterday or five
- 5:52years ago and none of that stuff can help you there's no point dwelling on any of those things
- 5:56or worrying about what's to come but if you have an idea of who you are in terms of things like
- 6:01your values and where you want to go in terms of goals in all areas of your life rather than just
- 6:06a financial goal or a fitness goal or a business goal or a family goal or a travel goal it's
- 6:11important to think about all of those things holistically in a comprehensive manner and once you
- 6:15have the foundation on who you are and where you want to go you can focus on putting one foot in front
- 6:21of the other you have completely alleviated yourself from everything that's going to happen in
- 6:25the future because you already know how the story ends because you've written it you just need to
- 6:29do what the character in the book would be doing today that's going to help you get there and some
- 6:34of those things as part of that win the day routine i think the very first part of that is coming
- 6:39up with an awareness because are you mentioned something a little bit earlier along the lines of
- 6:44that how do we motivate people who don't want to help themselves and you you can't really you can
- 6:49only john asera from the secret told me that he only works with he said help the people who want
- 6:54to help not the people who need to help and that can be very tough when you want to go out there
- 6:58and and help everyone but if you help someone who isn't ready for the help they're not going to
- 7:02change and you're going to end up really frustrated and depressed and and burn out in the process
- 7:07so giving someone the ability to have that awareness of the trajectory that they're on
- 7:11is that happy for them is is that a good thing for them to hear and do they recognize a change
- 7:17needs to occur and then are they willing to embrace that change so coming from that foundation of
- 7:22awareness is very very important then we can look at things like purpose what do you put here to do
- 7:27i had a for me personally i have a career purpose and i have a family purpose they're very different
- 7:32and it's important that i live both of those things and i live that i list out both of those things
- 7:37and then from there we can focus on things like goal setting and then your daily routines and your
- 7:43environment and your relationship with stress and your mindset around reframing adversity all of
- 7:48those types of things a huge shout out to federated computer for supporting today's episode
- 7:58let me explain why i love federated computer why they are friends of success story
- 8:02they are changing the way businesses buy software because we all need software to run our
- 8:06businesses i don't care what kind of business you're building but the best business software
- 8:10doesn't have to cost thousands of dollars each month so federated computer replaces a lot of
- 8:16the software that you're using right now let me explain the average typical federated computer
- 8:22customer save 75 percent or more on their software built and gets great software top notch
- 8:27customer service and support and a software solution that is uniquely installed for your business
- 8:32without any sort of surveillance or breaches of privacy for example if you use google for email
- 8:38salesforce for crm slack for team chat list monkey for customer acquisitions and air table for data
- 8:44management with a team of ten you'd save nine thousand dollars per year on software cost by switching
- 8:50the federated computer they replace all of those and what's wild is that the cost of federated
- 8:54computer doesn't grow as your team grows you can use federated computer savings to grow your
- 8:58business rather than feed the woke silicon valley software companies the federated computer team
- 9:05literally invented cloud software they actually have the patents to prove it and they are
- 9:10taking a hammer to the ridiculously high prices of business software that all entrepreneurs
- 9:15are suffering from federated computer they've been a long time supportive success story they're
- 9:19offering 30 percent off they're already low prices when you use a coupon code freelance so go to
- 9:24www.federated.computer to begin saving 75 percent or more on your monthly software costs
- 9:31that's www.federated.computer these folks are going to do you a big favor check them out
- 9:40and so let's let's say you're working with somebody and I love that the fact that you work with
- 9:44people who are motivated and who do want to change I think that's a huge huge I mean that that
- 9:50transcends somebody who's just a a coach or somebody who's advising a founder or somebody who's
- 9:56looking to grow in their career that transcends to CEOs to executives that are trying to upscale
- 10:01people on their team and even it even is a great it's a great thought when hiring people are you
- 10:07looking for people that actually do actually want to progress which can be a massive benefit or
- 10:12candidly there's spots in every career and every job or business for people that actually would
- 10:17just like to do the thing that they're doing and that's also okay too but to identify that is huge
- 10:21because that could be well placed or misplaced energy depending on who you're trying to mentor
- 10:27and and and help right so that's a very very smart point now when you start helping people
- 10:35achieve clarity and direction what are what are some of the major roadblocks so somebody is
- 10:40very willing and they're like listen I'm listening to this I hate my job or I'm an entrepreneur
- 10:46and I have five side hustles and none of them are going the way I want them to so what is it
- 10:50what is the major roadblocks you see there's so many a lot of them are there is no balance they've
- 10:56taken the time to define success in one area of their life but they haven't tied that that in so
- 11:01if you don't have an idea of three things that you need to do today that are going to make that day
- 11:05or win then you're going to struggle I see a lot of people they wake up and they they just work hard
- 11:09they work hard they work hard but if you don't have I always write down three things and then never
- 11:14all business related there's always one that might be related to family or might be related to
- 11:19health I'm really interested in those people who are very mentally strong physically healthy and
- 11:26strong financially healthy and strong they're the types of things that we can start to
- 11:33calibrate get those things ready perhaps there's some other relationships that can inspire
- 11:37they can inspire them on their next chapter because a lot of people reach a point where they feel
- 11:41like this is it and it can be very daunting for them to say look I'm 50 years old I might have
- 11:46ten million dollars in the bank but I'm not happy day to day so what needs to happen well that's
- 11:51when we move away from money and we can focus on first of all restoring balance and getting clear
- 11:56again on who they are and where they want to go and then we focus on impact like how do you want
- 12:00your children to think about you and how do you want to how do you want to turn up each day like
- 12:05when you wake up in the morning and you just take a moment to think about who is Scott and how does
- 12:10he go through the day what are the standards that you're willing to uphold how do you what food you
- 12:15putting into your body what conversations are you initiating where are you allocating your time
- 12:19once you can start to bring all of those things in together that's when you can give someone very
- 12:24much a renewed passion and sometimes it means they need to say farewell to the certain phase of life
- 12:29that they're in they might have a business that could have served its point it's like it's just
- 12:33died it just led to like a natural conclusion and that's fine that the business can move on with
- 12:38some people who have the excitement and you can move on to doing something that frees you up
- 12:42mentally it creates all that space for you which in that time of having six months for like a
- 12:48mental reset and allowing your intellectual curiosity to go to wherever it needs to be
- 12:54that's a lot of the times that I found with clients and really highly successful entrepreneurs
- 13:00they had that time off to figure out their next move and the next move is something they went all
- 13:05in on and it was generally something they were that they were really excited to do
- 13:10after the day was done an example of that is a guy called Michael Fox who created a good friend of
- 13:16mine he created the world's first female custom shoe company so you could go on a shoes of prey
- 13:22if you're a woman and you'd order whatever shoes you want completely custom made for you
- 13:26and they would send them out to you a week or two later but he realized that he wasn't coming home
- 13:31from work he didn't want to read magazines and articles about women's shoes so eventually
