- 0:00SPEAKER_00: What's up?
- 0:02SPEAKER_00: Hello?
- 0:04SPEAKER_00: Hello?
- 0:05SPEAKER_00: You called, but I was jogging.
- 0:09SPEAKER_01: Really?
- 0:09SPEAKER_01: Do you go jogging now?
- 0:11SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I jog.
- 0:12SPEAKER_00: You know what?
- 0:14SPEAKER_00: Do you know what I think you should try?
- 0:19SPEAKER_00: Because I've started doing this.
- 0:24SPEAKER_00: Huh?
- 0:24SPEAKER_00: No.
- 0:25SPEAKER_00: Running.
- 0:26SPEAKER_00: Running.
- 0:27SPEAKER_00: Running.
- 0:28SPEAKER_00: Like full out.
- 0:30SPEAKER_00: Run as hard as you can.
- 0:33SPEAKER_00: And even for a short amount of time uh distance, the thing that you realize is when you're old that you don't know how to run.
- 0:42SPEAKER_00: You haven't run full out in decades.
- 0:46SPEAKER_00: And and and your body forgets how to do it.
- 0:50SPEAKER_00: I mean, it sounds so weird.
- 0:52SPEAKER_00: But yesterday, so I jog all the time, but yesterday I and sometimes I I kind of do a little bit of a sprint at the end.
- 1:02SPEAKER_00: But yesterday I said, you know, I'm gonna do sprints, like plural.
- 1:07SPEAKER_00: So I did, I did a did a bunch of laps, and then I walked to the hundred, you know, hundred-yard dash line, and then I did full run as fast as you can for 100 yards, then walk it again, walk around again, then run full, you know, full blast.
- 1:28SPEAKER_00: And I'm in the middle of running, and and I'm realizing that my body, this is unfamiliar to my body, running like and you know, I was at the beach yesterday, and you're watching kids just running all the time.
- 1:44SPEAKER_00: That's all they do, they don't walk, they run everywhere all the time.
- 1:50SPEAKER_00: And when I was a kid, that's all I did running all the time, and and and then you realize like Satch, when's the last time you can say you ran full out, like running as fast as you can?
- 2:12SPEAKER_00: When's the last time you did that?
- 2:15SPEAKER_00: You probably can't.
- 2:16SPEAKER_00: I don't remember.
- 2:17SPEAKER_00: You can't remember, I don't remember exactly so you should you should try it, just try it, and and and then you realize, man, it's a basic thing, like as a kid, that's all you did, and now you your body doesn't remember how to do it.
- 2:34SPEAKER_00: How do I move my hands?
- 2:37SPEAKER_00: How much do I lift up my knees, you know?
- 2:40SPEAKER_00: So I I'm trying to train myself how to run again.
- 2:48SPEAKER_01: Well, that's good.
- 2:49SPEAKER_01: That's good.
- 2:50SPEAKER_01: I think you have to be careful.
- 2:51SPEAKER_01: I feel like partly when I had a pinched nerve in my neck, it came from running.
- 2:59SPEAKER_01: So I was running, and that you know, there's a lot of stress you put on your bones and joints at uh um at an age, you know, at an older age.
- 3:11SPEAKER_00: Well, when you say running, do you mean jogging?
- 3:13SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 3:15SPEAKER_00: That's different.
- 3:16SPEAKER_01: It's not, I mean, the running is gonna be in a way it's different worse than the jogging.
- 3:22SPEAKER_00: Well, I know, but it's weird because I jog all the time.
- 3:25SPEAKER_00: I've always jogged.
- 3:26SPEAKER_00: I've always jogged.
- 3:27SPEAKER_00: It's not my body knows how to jog for sure.
- 3:31SPEAKER_00: It's it's almost like it's all it's easy.
- 3:35SPEAKER_01: You're like a joke you're like a pro jogger.
- 3:37SPEAKER_00: Well, I mean, I I'm not a good jogger, but my body knows how to do it.
- 3:41SPEAKER_00: But and you think, oh, running is just jogging faster.
- 3:45SPEAKER_00: But no, it's not.
- 3:47SPEAKER_00: It's your body's going, wait, what is this?
- 3:49SPEAKER_00: What am I supposed to do here?
- 3:51SPEAKER_00: What am I and your brain's like clicking in, going, you got, you know, watch out, you gotta lift your knees this much, or you're gonna trip, you know.
- 3:59SPEAKER_00: So running full out.
- 4:02SPEAKER_00: That's that's my that's my take.
- 4:04SPEAKER_01: I just I like it, just sounds so painful and like not fun, and it seems like I would die of a heart attack.
- 4:12SPEAKER_01: And so thinking about dying of a heart attack and not having fun, and it just doesn't it doesn't appeal to me, but I I'm not doesn't mean I won't try it, but I I don't know if uh I don't know.
- 4:23SPEAKER_00: Like I I here's I don't know.
- 4:26SPEAKER_00: Here's my funny story.
- 4:27SPEAKER_01: I'm so scared of getting a pinch nerve again.
- 4:29SPEAKER_00: Here's my funny story about that.
- 4:30SPEAKER_00: When um a while back, my company decided we're gonna have a little softball team because I think that's what companies are supposed to do.
- 4:38SPEAKER_00: And so we had a softball team and we got to the first game, and I played baseball like growing up.
- 4:44SPEAKER_00: That's my that was my sport.
- 4:46SPEAKER_00: And my dad was my coach, and you know, like it's all we did all the time, and so you think, oh yeah, I know how to play baseball, and so softball, and so I'm up to bat, I hit a ball, and so now I realize, oh shit, I gotta run to first base, and I have to run fast, as fast as I can do it.
- 5:05SPEAKER_00: And at the time, so I just took off running, and in the middle of it, I realized I haven't run in decades, I don't know how to do this, and I I ran and my body didn't know how to do it, and I I got kind of confused.
- 5:26SPEAKER_00: Like, am I supposed to tip forward?
- 5:29SPEAKER_00: Do I just run straight, you know, and I touched first base and I fell over.
- 5:36SPEAKER_00: I fell to the ground because my body didn't know how to run.
- 5:42SPEAKER_00: That's sad.
- 5:43SPEAKER_00: That's a sad, that was a sad, sad day.
- 5:48SPEAKER_00: So don't forget, what I guess what I'm saying is don't forget how to run.
- 5:53SPEAKER_00: Just every once in a while, when you're you know, you're getting into your your life, you've got your job, you're 30, 32, you think, oh, I know how to run.
- 6:05SPEAKER_00: Yeah, just do it.
- 6:06SPEAKER_00: Just run flat out, just yeah, once a week, just so your body doesn't forget.
- 6:11SPEAKER_00: That's my tip.
- 6:13SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 6:14SPEAKER_01: Don't don't forget how to run.
- 6:16SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 6:18SPEAKER_00: Have we made up yet, or are we still broken up?
- 6:20SPEAKER_00: I can't.
- 6:22SPEAKER_01: I didn't know that that it was all that.
- 6:25SPEAKER_01: I didn't think that it was all that.
- 6:26SPEAKER_01: I thought we're dudes and we just and then shit just happens and we deal with it.
- 6:30SPEAKER_01: I didn't know there was like breakups and all that stuff.
- 6:34SPEAKER_01: I mean, I don't know what you're thinking about.
- 6:36SPEAKER_01: I don't know how it works.
- 6:37SPEAKER_01: Um I didn't know what happened.
- 6:39SPEAKER_01: I didn't know anything happened.
- 6:40SPEAKER_01: What what happened?
- 6:42SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 6:42SPEAKER_00: You didn't call.
- 6:44SPEAKER_01: There was oh, there was that one day that I didn't call by didn't realize you didn't even realize the day, like you you went a whole day without calling, yeah.
- 6:52SPEAKER_00: Like a black hole opened up into the into your universe, and you just skipped a day, not even knowing.
- 7:00SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I don't know.
- 7:01SPEAKER_01: I feel like that that uh that our listener will forgive us.
- 7:09SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 7:10SPEAKER_01: Maybe like I I don't even think there's anybody who's all caught up with every single episode.
- 7:16SPEAKER_00: I I doesn't know.
- 7:18SPEAKER_00: I don't know any of that.
- 7:19SPEAKER_01: Yeah, exactly.
- 7:20SPEAKER_01: It's a lot to know.
- 7:27SPEAKER_00: That's it.
- 7:28SPEAKER_00: Just run.
- 7:29SPEAKER_01: That's it, that's it today, huh?
- 7:31SPEAKER_00: Just run, run, run.
- 7:33SPEAKER_00: Oh man, I would run for 20 seconds, flat out, and you re and then you will realize, man, I don't know how to do this.
- 7:42SPEAKER_01: I think I do know how to do it.
- 7:44SPEAKER_00: I think you think you do, but you don't.
- 7:46SPEAKER_01: That's what I mean.
- 7:47SPEAKER_01: I don't think you forget how to ride a bike.
- 7:49SPEAKER_01: I don't think you forget how to run.
- 7:50SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 7:51SPEAKER_00: It's different.
- 7:53SPEAKER_00: It's different.
- 7:54SPEAKER_01: I'm not like you.
- 7:55SPEAKER_01: I'm not gonna fall over.
- 7:57SPEAKER_01: Okay, or not know where to put my legs.
