- 0:00Speaker 1: Come on your basic got uh huh, I sure will.
- 0:06Speaker 1: Good morning everybody you're listening to the voice, Come on
- 0:09Speaker 1: dig me now, one and only Steve Harvey got a
- 0:13Speaker 1: radio show. Man o man oh man. Wow. I think
- 0:19Speaker 1: about all the things God has done for me is
- 0:21Speaker 1: overwhelming at times. And I want everybody to have that
- 0:26Speaker 1: feeling and to sharing that feeling of completion and satisfaction.
- 0:31Speaker 1: And the only reason I got this, and it's the
- 0:33Speaker 1: thousandth time I've said it, is because I formed a
- 0:37Speaker 1: relationship with my creator. Period. That's it. That's that's it.
- 0:42Speaker 1: I can't tell you as anything else else. You know,
- 0:44Speaker 1: I've always had a strong work ethic. My father put
- 0:47Speaker 1: that in me. My father's conversation with me growing up
- 0:51Speaker 1: was always constantly about work hard, don't be lazy, be
- 0:55Speaker 1: a man, do what you say you're gonna do. YadA YadA, YadA,
- 0:58Speaker 1: YadA YadA. Man. I was so tired out of my
- 1:00Speaker 1: father at times. I was going, Man, what is with
- 1:02Speaker 1: this dude? Right here? Man, every time we have a conversation,
- 1:06Speaker 1: it's got to be about work. It's got to be about,
- 1:09Speaker 1: you know, man, doing your best, trying hard, you know, working,
- 1:13Speaker 1: being honest, do what you say you're gonna do, but
- 1:17Speaker 1: that was his mission. I can't tell you how much
- 1:20Speaker 1: I appreciate that now. I can't even I can't even
- 1:24Speaker 1: put it into words when I think about my old
- 1:27Speaker 1: man and what he was to me, and I just, man,
- 1:32Speaker 1: I'm so grateful for that balance I had in my life.
- 1:35Speaker 1: And then my father was a fighter. He fought on
- 1:39Speaker 1: the weekends. You know. My father used to come home
- 1:43Speaker 1: with his with his clothes toe off of him. He
- 1:46Speaker 1: put a fresh shirt on and he go back. My
- 1:49Speaker 1: mom used to talk about my father fighting all the time, slick,
- 1:51Speaker 1: while you are always fighting. You know, a little bit
- 1:55Speaker 1: of that rubbed off on me too. You know that
- 1:57Speaker 1: kind of got into me and I didn't understand that either.
- 2:01Speaker 1: But then on the same turn, my mother was a
- 2:03Speaker 1: Sunday school teacher for forty years, so her conversation was
- 2:06Speaker 1: never about fighting or anything. It was all about love
- 2:09Speaker 1: and understanding and doing another that you would have to
- 2:12Speaker 1: do unto you. My mom was a Sunday school teacher,
- 2:14Speaker 1: so I learned about faith. I had to go to
- 2:17Speaker 1: Sunday school, prayer meeting, Bible study, young people meeting, choir rehearsal.
- 2:22Speaker 1: You know, I was a church man so much I
- 2:24Speaker 1: was actually looking as that's got to be an alternative
- 2:27Speaker 1: to this, you know, I want, you know, and I
- 2:30Speaker 1: was a little kid even I was thinking at one
- 2:32Speaker 1: point maybe I ought to look in al because it's
- 2:34Speaker 1: got to be something cooler than this going on every day.
- 2:38Speaker 1: It had got that crazy for me. But the balance
- 2:41Speaker 1: between those two people created who I am today. And
- 2:45Speaker 1: I want you to understand that the things that you
- 2:47Speaker 1: are in your past have helped create who you are today.
- 2:51Speaker 1: If you view it the right way, everything that has
- 2:56Speaker 1: happened to you in your past has happened to you
- 2:59Speaker 1: for a res and it's usually for the good if
- 3:03Speaker 1: you view it that way. But if you, on the
- 3:08Speaker 1: other hand, are a type of person who can't move
- 3:11Speaker 1: forward because you are allowing your past to stop you
- 3:15Speaker 1: from having your future, then you, my friend, are doing
- 3:20Speaker 1: a disservice to your life. You are not honoring God's blessings.
- 3:26Speaker 1: You are not taking advantage of the gain, knowledge, wisdom,
- 3:30Speaker 1: and experience of your life. Example, if you are a
- 3:36Speaker 1: woman and you are always talking about a former relationship
- 3:43Speaker 1: what he did to me. If he had not did
- 3:47Speaker 1: this to me, I wouldn't be in this place today.
- 3:51Speaker 1: I thought I had a man. Now I ain't got
- 3:55Speaker 1: no man. Ahllah lah lah la lah. You know, he
- 4:01Speaker 1: came along and I was doing just swell. He just
- 4:04Speaker 1: came in and he just lied to me. He lied
- 4:08Speaker 1: to me, nod. He did this to me. Then he cheated,
- 4:11Speaker 1: then he left. All of that that you just saying
- 4:14Speaker 1: can very well be true. Have you thought that maybe
- 4:20Speaker 1: maybe somewhere in God's infinite wisdom, that he knew that
- 4:29Speaker 1: you had made a mistake in picking him anyway? Maybe
- 4:34Speaker 1: he knew you had made a mistake in saying yes
- 4:37Speaker 1: or I do to him anyway, or come on, move in?
- 4:44Speaker 1: And so what he did was based on your decision
- 4:48Speaker 1: now to say yes, I do, or come on, let's
- 4:51Speaker 1: move in together. That was your decision. You ain't go
- 4:54Speaker 1: to him about this one. You made this decision based
- 4:58Speaker 1: on that decision, and all the negative things that started happening.
- 5:03Speaker 1: He allowed you to get away from it. Now how
- 5:07Speaker 1: you got away from it, it's always not the choice
- 5:10Speaker 1: of ours. See, you stuck on the fact that he left,
- 5:14Speaker 1: that he walked out. But let me share this with you.
- 5:18Speaker 1: When he was there, how good was he to you?
- 5:20Speaker 1: How good was he for you? See? You got to
- 5:25Speaker 1: stare at You got to look at the blessing. The
- 5:28Speaker 1: blessing is. Now you are on your own. Now you
- 5:32Speaker 1: walk in your house. Ain't nobody in there with a
- 5:34Speaker 1: disruptive spirit. Now you go home. You could take your
- 5:38Speaker 1: clothes off, walk around like you want to. Now you
- 5:41Speaker 1: go home, you can sit down and look at TV
- 5:45Speaker 1: or catch your breath if you want to. Your kids
- 5:49Speaker 1: don't have to see y'all arguing all the time. Have
- 5:53Speaker 1: you looked at the blessing in it? But now if
- 5:56Speaker 1: you gonna keep looking at the negative, then guess what Now?
- 6:00Speaker 1: Now you can't move forward because you keep allowing your
- 6:05Speaker 1: past to keep you from moving forward. If God has
- 6:09Speaker 1: brought you through it, why don't you move on from it? Look,
- 6:14Speaker 1: you got through it. He gone, he ain't coming back.
- 6:17Speaker 1: He got somebody else. So you gonna sit there and
- 6:20Speaker 1: just keep tripping couts? He gone and he got somebody else. Hey,
- 6:24Speaker 1: pick yourself up. Thank God for the blessing. It didn't
- 6:29Speaker 1: feel like a blessing. Why you was going through it
- 6:31Speaker 1: and all the pain of him leaving and the divorce
- 6:34Speaker 1: and all that messed you up? Got it? When you
- 6:37Speaker 1: get through it, all of that, you ain't the first
- 6:39Speaker 1: one being left. You ain't the first one being divorced.
- 6:42Speaker 1: You ain't the first one been in a bad relationship.
- 6:45Speaker 1: Pick yourself up, thank God for the blessing, and move
- 6:50Speaker 1: forward in your life, because maybe when you quit complaining,
- 6:55Speaker 1: maybe you'll find out that God has something in store
- 6:58Speaker 1: for you that he wants you you to have, but
- 7:01Speaker 1: he can't give it to you if you ain't grateful.
- 7:04Speaker 1: So God gives you a blessing, but because you don't
- 7:07Speaker 1: see it as a blessing, you ain't grateful for it. Now,
- 7:10Speaker 1: guess what, You steady asking God to do something for you,
- 7:14Speaker 1: but you ain't thanking him for what he's done for you,
- 7:16Speaker 1: but you steady wanting him to do more. How does
- 7:19Speaker 1: that work? How does that work? Man? That he should
- 7:23Speaker 1: keep on giving you things when you ain't even working
- 7:26Speaker 1: with the stuff he done gave you. And I don't know.
- 7:30Speaker 1: And I'm just using that one example. That could go
- 7:33Speaker 1: for me and too, vice versa, and so on and
- 7:35Speaker 1: so forth. I'm just using that as an example. Now,
- 7:39Speaker 1: why I laid on that one so long? You have
- 7:41Speaker 1: to take that over God, that's all just sat I
- 7:43Speaker 1: ain't pointing fingers a nobody in nothing because I've been
- 7:47Speaker 1: guilty on both sides of the coin. Who am I,
- 7:50Speaker 1: But I'm just sharing with you what I had to do.
- 7:53Speaker 1: I had to learn to stop allowing my past to
- 7:57Speaker 1: interfere with my future. Steve Harvey Morning Show
