[upbeat rock music] Welcome, ladies and gentlemen,
• 0:18
to the Full Spectrum Cycling Show, number 104 here now at this time. Wow. Uh, got JK to my right. Oh, hi. Hi, hey, hey. Tony across from me over there. Peace. And, uh, splitting the uprights, Keith today. Keith- Lyon...
• 0:35
Keith Lyon joins us in the studio. Is it with an S, Lyons? Yeah. Oh, Lyons. Pardon me. We're gonna, we're gonna talk a little bit about maybe welding and stuff. I don't know.
• 0:45
[laughs] Just some exciting- Something even bike-related maybe... maybe. [laughs] It's, uh, it's interesting, um, Keith works at a local, um, brewery equipment manufacturer. Does that- Yeah... sound right?
• 1:01
It's, uh, Spike Brewing, and they make everything from home brew stuff up to small batch stuff. What is it, 10- Uh, up to nano, which is one size sm- smaller than a- Micro... yeah, micro. Yeah.
• 1:14
Too many, too many different- 50 gallon batch kits-... kinds of brew-... and things like that... right on. Yeah. Subtly, I mean- Sorry, I'm interjecting 'cause I, of course, used to work there too. [laughs] Yeah, yeah.
• 1:21
They, they're right down the street, not far away, m- even closer to the new shop. Yeah. Um, and, uh, Keith welds on stainless a lot, a lot, and we've been talking about maybe doing some bike projects, so.
• 1:34
Yeah, a lot of stainless steel, but I mean, mainly all tube, and we're looking at a bunch of tubes. A lot to do. Yeah, pretty much. Some of them are bent, some of them are straight.
• 1:42
When you put them together, they turn into a bike. Do it. [laughs] That's really cool. So what's been going on, Tony? Hmm. Your, uh, you got your second shot, right? Oh, yeah, I'm, I'm way past that, you know.
• 1:57
I got a lot of paneling out of my house, thank you, Greg. Oh, you're welcome. Yeah, that's, we're gonna be using some of that at the new place, and hopefully that'll happen this weekend, um.
• 2:06
I- I'm gonna have a new place one day. Yeah. Maybe. Someday. Maybe. I got my first shot a couple days ago. Yeah. Not too bad, right? Not too bad. No, a little, just a little sore at the injection point- Mm-hmm, mm-hmm...
• 2:18
but no big deal. Worth doing, I think. If you, uh, wanna keep the bug away, probably ought to get poked. I just gotta go see my mom. Shoo fly, shoo. Yeah. 95 years old.
• 2:28
She doesn't want me anywhere n- nowhere near her until I can show her... I'm gonna have to bring the card [laughs] Right... and show it through the door, like, "See, Mom? It's legit.
• 2:34
No, you can't see 'cause you're blind." [laughs] I think there's gonna be some kind of, um, vaccine passport kind of events going on, like potentially even stuff like Summerfest. It'll be the scanner.
• 2:43
There's cruises for people that, I mean, how dumb- It'll be in a scanner because the microchip is in there... you know, how dumb does it take to cruise [laughs] in the first place?
• 2:49
Now they're offering COVID vaccined only cruises to nowhere. Well, it's nice that that was one of the big spreaders in the first case. Right. [laughs] You know? For sure. Yeah. So let's get them all back.
• 2:58
[laughs] I just, yeah. Yeah, yeah. Sorry. That's like- We're gonna get- Yeah, that just, that's just that roundup, and like, "Hey, you know, you won a free boat.
• 3:07
Please come down to the police station and claim it, you know?" Awesome Simpsons episode. [laughs] I mean, you know? That's most of my legal skills come from. [laughs] I will say the pandemic has done one great thing.
• 3:18
My daughter is nearly completely through every Simpsons episode, and I have mad props to her [laughs] for getting through that. That's some good watching, because there's- I, I got to about year 18...
• 3:26
how many seasons are there? 31 or something? There's... [laughs] Yeah, something like that. Yeah. Some ridiculous amount, you know. She started with all the Treehouses of Horror
• 3:34
and then worked her way through, it's like- Very nice... I gave myself a bunch of homework assignments like that viewing wise, and I'm, I just keep making 'em up now as I go along. [laughs] They keep going over. Yeah.
• 3:45
It's just like, okay, I, I'll do all the Star War again. Oh, okay, I'll do all the Harry Potter again. Oh, okay, I'll do the entire X or- If someone were to call in, what number would they call?
• 3:55
They would call, uh, 717- 72... 727-2453. That spells bike. That's 717-727- Bike... bike. Bike. Uh, just before showtime, well, we had a couple interesting things [laughs] happen just before showtime.
• 4:11
Big Sexy called early. Yeah. Thought he was late. Yep, but he's going to bed, so we'll hear from him another time.
• 4:16
And, uh, Chewie sent me a picture of his cracked, uh, collarbone, blaming Skinny Tires for the- [laughs] Oh, attaboy... for the, [laughs] for the ma- mayhem, mayhem mishap. Mayhem. Is that his first serious injury?
• 4:31
I doubt it. I don't think he's got that much metal in him. He- I think he's just that lucky and he's that fricking strong. Yeah, I don't, he, I'm sure that at some point in the past something's happened to him.
• 4:41
Nothing recent. Nothing recent that I'm aware of. I'm gonna try and keep my recent not getting injured- Me too... streak going. [laughs] Chewie's kind of an animal. Yeah. He's just a machine on a bike.
• 4:51
It's f- wonderful, fun guy to ride with and get injured with. Uh, [sings] I'm gonna push a button now. Oh. Button. Welcome to the radio program, caller. Who do we have on the line? Hello, this is Shannon. Shannon.
• 5:07
Sh- Shannon, what's happening? Not much. Uh, actually sitting in the garage and wiping down my bike finally- How you feeling?... after this weekend's shenanigans. You were at the b- Fat Bike Birkie, I take it? Yes, sir.
• 5:24
Uh, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and then, uh, we, uh, slowly stumbled home Sunday- Nice... after a night of shenanigans at the Moccasin. Nice. So what was the event like this year?
• 5:37
I know it's, uh, not like the traditional mass start and a few other changes, but what was the, uh, what was the event like, conditions, et cetera? The conditions were actually fabulous.
• 5:48
I was a little worried about them. Um, they, they actually had a pretty good base. Uh, they groomed Thursday night and Friday we went out and pre-rode early, uh, and it was... fast, like a highway, man.
• 6:03
It was just absolutely perfect. Uh, there were a couple open spots of, uh, dirt and mud where the sun was shining in, and then they were doing some logging- Nice... just before double O.
• 6:15
Um, that you could see some dirt, but really didn't affect much of it. And then during the race, they started us an hour early, and it didn't get real sloppy or mashed potatoes till really the, the last maybe 20 minutes.
• 6:32
I'm sure all the pros that were under two hours had it just fine. [laughs] Yeah, when- But sunshine, nice, nice temps. You didn't have to overdress. Um, it, it was absolutely great, and, and the way they handled it with,
• 6:50
with, uh, the starts and 50 people per gate, um, I was in wave three, so it was 8, 8:10, but it, it worked out great. You know, nobody was really hanging out.
• 7:04
Everyone just grabbed their sack lunch afterwards and their beer and headed back to their cars or wherever, and everyone had to wear a mask in the gates and when you got back and grabbed everything, so.
• 7:18
Sounds- They handled it great. And it was awesome just being back- Yeah, it, it sounds like they, you know, they learned a lot from doing the, the ski event and I think, um, made some good choices, and
• 7:29
hopefully it was a good event for you. Yeah, for... Yeah. Uh, actually, my time is better than it, it has been. This is my fifth year, so. Nice. So bettered my time than previous years, so
• 7:45
it was nice to be racing again- Mm... and seeing some of the faces you haven't seen in a year or so and- Right
• 7:53
Yeah, we're basically- So the conditions and- I think our year anniversary here was, uh, just a couple days ago. Yeah. The 16th was our year anniversary in Milwaukee. I don't know how the rest of the state did, but
• 8:05
been, it's been a solid year of, uh, being careful. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, it's, uh... If we're slowly getting back into, quote unquote, what's gonna be normalcy or, you know- All right...
• 8:20
it was nice getting there, you know, one step forward. It, it just felt good. It, it made you happy to- Right. Felt a little normal... to be able to at least get a little bit. Right on. Yeah.
• 8:31
What was your race rig this year? Well, it's, uh, oh, it's my Trek Farley. Nice. Trek Farley, and I'm sitting on 26-inch carbon dirt thumpers with, uh,
• 8:45
Van Helgas, which is my tire choice pretty much year-round, and they got the tan walls. No studs necessary? No studs. I was running about five, five and a half in the front, six in the back. Wow.
• 8:59
And I probably could've actually given a little bit more air. It, it, it literally held up until, like, the last 20 minutes for me. I was at two hours and 20 minutes, two hours 30 minutes,
• 9:11
and it just started to get to mashed po- mashed potatoes at the end, especially on some of the bigger hills at the end. Yeah. Well, it's, that's, uh, a good time there. I'm glad you had a, had a decent event.
• 9:22
And, uh, what, where'd you stay? We stayed at the Telemark, which- Nice... is awesome because you could just ride all the trails, and you can ride to the start. You can
• 9:34
ride back to the Telemark after you finish, go get cleaned up, have a, have a beer or three.
• 9:41
That, that place has always in, been interesting 'cause I've been going up there since m- probably the early '90s, late '80s, early '90s, and sometimes it's open, sometimes it's not.
• 9:50
Sometimes it's a little overlook hotel-y, you know? You're like- [laughs]... "Is this the Shannon up here?" I, I'm- They're about to drop it. [laughs] So what, what- They're about to level it.
• 9:58
They ha- they, they're about to level the hotel. They were. They had people in there getting out all the refrigerators, and the tractors are out front. I think they're about to level it.
• 10:07
And then someone jumped in, right? I think there's a bunch of different stuff going on up there. Yeah. I think they're, they're keeping the condo area, right? Yeah, that's where we stay. We stay in one of the condos.
• 10:19
Oh, okay. Okay, so the actual, the h- The ho- the hotel... What's that? The b- the big hotel is the one they're razing, right? That's the one that's about to get demolished- Oh... it looked like. That's too bad.
• 10:30
That was really a cool place. Yeah, it was.
• 10:31
I, I mean, the vision for that up there, you know, so far north to have something really cool like that right by an airport, golf course, all sorts of other stuff to do up there, but- It's too nasty...
• 10:41
obviously it was there for the- Yeah, and that's the whole-... the Birkie really. Yeah, in Chequamegon, that was the finish line. Many a naked criterium were run in that little bowl right by those condos.
• 10:54
[laughs] [laughs] Are you doing Chequamegon? Well, it's like, like, if... Uh, I done it. Don't know if I'm gonna go back up there for, for that one. I've got, I've got two big ones
• 11:09
I'm registered for if they go on, and that's, uh, Iceman in November, and, uh, Lutsen 99er, I'm gonna try that for the first time ever. Is that 99K or 99 MI?
• 11:21
Uh, supposedly it's 99 miles, and last year was actually over 100 from what I hear. Wow. Lutsen is in Michigan? So figure I give that- Is that over there in Michigan somewhere? Yeah. No, up in, uh, Minnesota.
• 11:35
Oh, Minnesota. Oh, that's right. Oh, yeah. There's a ski mountain there. Yeah. Yeah, you can go up- Lutsen... you can go all Fargo up in there. Yeah, we, we, uh- Yeah. Yeah, yeah.
• 11:44
Yeah, that's like- So never done that one. Never been up there. [laughs] Figure I'd check that out. So how you guys been doing? Have you been... Did you get some rides in?
• 11:54
Uh, kinda when it was really nice out I got the bug, so that sort of kept going here now that it's back to chill weather again. But, um, it was a little bit of a...
• 12:03
I would s- I would call it a disappointing winter for me because- Yeah... we really didn't have any frozen lake to ride until- Later in maybe- February...
• 12:12
late February Oh, yeah And we got maybe two weeks of messing around up there, and then it was gone again. And I was up there last weekend, I think, checking out the beach, and there's no beach ex- again.
• 12:24
So the- Ah, it's gonna suck...
• 12:25
the, the ability to ride on the frozen, you know, shoreline was awesome, but we, I only did it maybe four times, and that was not enough because that's- And that was inside of, like, a week, right?
• 12:35
[laughs] Yeah, I guess. I mostly did it in a week, yeah. Kept going up there- Man, like, sure can. It's gonna be-... and like, "Well, the conditions are good." It's gonna be, like, 60 this weekend out there- Yeah...
• 12:44
they're saying, so. Us too. Sounds, sounds g- you know, I'm okay with that. The ur- Yeah...
• 12:48
the urban assault riding has been really good, and it's just, it's nice to be able to be outside at places instead of having to, you know, worry about masking up and going indoors somewhere.
• 12:58
And, you know, I think, I don't know. Or- Or grudge standing outside. Yeah, right, when it's- "Ugh, I don't wanna go out"... 34 degrees outside. [laughs] "But, okay." Rock, paper, scissors, who goes in and buys?
• 13:09
I mean- Right... I gotta go in and buy. I'm gonna warm up for a minute. [laughs] Right. You know.
• 13:14
Yeah, we did a Saint practice day last Saturday, which was, you know, uh, close to Dave Lunza's bike's birthday, which [laughs] I'll have a picture of it.
• 13:24
He got it re- [laughs] He got it repaired with, with a, a, an alleged weld. Uh-huh. It looks okay. It looks okay. [laughs] And it held together for the entire ride- Yeah, I've been fol-... which is good.
• 13:35
It was- Been see-... thinking about that... I've seen some of the progress of that on his Instagram. [laughs] Yeah, well, he's been kind of, he's been laid off, so he's had all sorts of stuff.
• 13:43
I saw him out with the, uh, the, the portable, uh, bandsaw doing a little pedal work. [laughs] I, I saw.
• 13:48
You know, if, if he's listening, he should call in because his story about how that XT derailleur just, he couldn't get it off, so he just hammered on it really hard with a j- a PB Blaster and a rubber mallet and it started to work again, so he just decided [laughs] to leave it and use it.
• 14:05
[laughs] PB Blaster's pretty good. I, it, uh, I'm really happy with stuff called Kroil. Kroil. That stuff's the best. It does seem to be better at penetrating than just about anything else out there oil-wise.
• 14:16
That's what she said. [laughs] Exactly. That was- That is what she said... get some show sponsors. Tag him again. Well, speaking of. Oh, oh. Top of the hill. [bell ringing] Ring. Dingy, dingy, dingy.
• 14:29
Uh- Are, are you having a beer, Shannon? Yes, of course. And what kind of beer are you having there, Shannon? Bell's. Bell's Brewing Official IPA. Ooh. In a can. Oh, wait. Having- Two, Two Hearted or a different IPA?
• 14:45
It's, just says IPA. It's, it's really, like, a generic can and it says Official, like, in cursive. It almost kinda reminded me of a, an old Olympia Gold can from my father's day. Yeah. Yeah.
• 14:58
[laughs] Sounds like next week's show beer to me. But, uh, yeah. I, if we can find it. Bell's Brewing- Yeah, for sure... on can says Official on it. Nice. It almost looks generic. Huh.
• 15:06
Probably, like, from, yeah, probably from their mothership. Send us a picture for the show, please. [laughs] We're on the, uh- [laughs] We're on the Black Husky program again today, doing the local. Nice.
• 15:17
Throw, throw a stone from in front of the shop to hit the- Oh, piece of cake. We could throw a-... hit the window... we could throw a fat bike wheel and hit that shop from here. [laughs] Yeah. Yeah.
• 15:25
As long as it's coming from- What? Right. So are you, are, you're at the old shop then still? Still, yeah. Still, yeah. The old shop? Yep. Yeah.
• 15:31
The, I, well, the lease goes through the end of August, so, um, the bike part of the bike shop will still be here till then.
• 15:39
Um, it may be simultaneously at the other place, but electrical is done at the new studio- Ooh... but not tied in yet. Okay. So we're waiting for the final- All right... uh, tie in of the big box so that our
• 15:53
more modest box has power to it. But, uh, I'm hoping within the week or two. I don't know. Who knows? Time is a flat circle, man.
• 16:04
[laughs] You gonna have a grand opening or a soft opening or a light opening or- Well, we'll have something... premier opening? I mean, you know, Tony's fully vaccinated. I got my s- start on it.
• 16:13
You know, it's g- it's getting to be time where if people are, you know- Wanna come and have a beer...
• 16:17
through work or whatever are able to, you know, be a little safer, then I don't mind having people get, gather together. The, the facility itself- Right... has a lot of people kind of milling about.
• 16:31
It's, it's not fully realized yet, but there's a bunch of artist types in there. There's a, a fight club sort of a joint. It's called Dropout Fight Club.
• 16:41
Um- There's the Ben, the Cirque du Soleil lady that's got the kinda cool- Yep, there's a lady that's doing aerial stuff- Oh, Keith, you gotta see this place... with silks and all that stuff. Yeah, for real.
• 16:49
Um- Oh, like the scarf dropping thing? Right, exactly. Yeah. Da, da, da, da, da, da, ding. And there's, so our shop, our shop and the podcast shop are right across from each other. There's a dude that does CBD.
• 16:59
  There's a guy, a video dude. There's a guy that's renting canoes and kayaks.
• 17:03
So instead of being, like, a single shop on a busy street, we're gonna be sort of part of a community of a bunch of stuff happening, and I think it's gonna be really cool.
• 17:13
Um- Just watch out for a big fat guy- That sounds fun... riding wheelies through it. Right. Yeah, for sure. Um, forgot to say our show beer, we did, we did say it was Black Husky, but it's V- Black Husky...
• 17:23
it's Vain, which is one of my favorites from there. It's- You're so full of shit. Yeah. It's a 6.8%. You think, you think this ABQ- Or more... is about you? [laughs] Don't you? Don't you? Good stuff. Don't you?
• 17:36
[laughs] And for once I managed to make it back before the, uh, show started. Right. And at some point we're gonna do some remotes from over there at Black Husky.
• 17:44
We're, we're invited to do it in, as soon as we can kind of, you know, do it without- Do it safely... yeah, it's a little warmer out, we can do it outside or whatever.
• 17:52
So then you can come up to Milwaukee and, uh, partake in the show live and in person. Again. That sounds like fun. Will do. So I will let you guys go, but, uh,
• 18:06
we will talk at you guys soon and I'll listen to the rest of the podcast and- All right... we'll be in touch. All right, man. Be cool. Thanks for calling. Glad you had a good time up there at the sh- at the, uh, Berkey.
• 18:17
Thanks. All right, we'll catch you later guys. Peace. All right, thanks Shannon. B- bye. The new shop sounds awesome. Shannon, baby. The new shop is gonna be very cool. Um, there's- This is...
• 18:29
there's just a lot going on up there that I think is gonna bring more people interested in what we're doing than the average walker down the streeter type person that happens here. Agree.
• 18:41
Being that we have, like, a prepaid phone shop next to us and- Mm-hmm... you know, it's [laughs] like, I don't know, maybe- It's a bit of a gauntlet drive- Empty barcode street... drivewise. Yeah.
• 18:51
It's not like, "Oh, I'll just list off to the right." N- n- no. It- We- You're gon- you're gonna get bonked into...
• 18:56
I'd like to have been in this neighborhood when they decided to keep the street the way it is, and I'm, I'm not unhappy that they did it because this would've been a- Oh... freeway otherwise. Versus the boulevard?
• 19:05
Right, right, right. But we basically have a six-block long gauntlet where it goes from four lanes down to two lanes, back to four lanes. Back to four lanes. Well, yeah. Again. Sorta. Sorta. Sorta.
• 19:15
And, um, yeah, it's definitely- 'Cause then back down to two lanes again to their lake, but. Well, yeah. But once you're across the river, you're in a whole nother world. Right. Mm-hmm.
• 19:23
New shop's gonna be a lot nicer for stop and hang out. Oh, we got a parking lot that's- Right... a city block- Yeah... you know. And we're gonna have, you know, events at the place that will utilize the entire...
• 19:33
It's a two-and-a-half square block property, so. It's pretty cool. It's gonna be good. We're just, I, I, I can't wait for it to happen. It seems like it's taking a really long time, but in reality, it's not- It's fine...
• 19:45
that long. It's stretching out. Yeah. Yeah. It's all the anticip- Until it's fully, uh- Patient... occupied too. There's a lot of great indoor riding- That's all time, baby... around the area. Yep. Yeah.
• 19:57
There's, it, it, it's gonna be fun. Yeah, it's pretty cool. The building itself is [laughs] really cool. We will be right about the time when everybody's kind of, quote unquote, back to normal,
• 20:07
the place will be just a ready to pop. Bumping. Yeah. So. Bumpin'. Speaking of bumping, happy 40th anniversary WMSE. The mighty 91. Happy 40th MSE. There he is. There. He's sporting his mighty 91.
• 20:23
Oh, I don't have mine out today. I'm a fool. [laughs] I'm a fool. Actually threw mine in the, threw mine in the wash today. Ah. Uh, yeah. I ended up buying a second one, so one is in the wash. There you go. Yeah.
• 20:32
[laughs] St. Patrick's Day- Aha... is the official 40th- 40th anniversary... anniversary of MSE, the greatest radio station in the world. Hands down. Keith, you don't have any idea what we're talking about, do you?
• 20:43
No, I do. Oh, good. 'Cause you used to play it at the shop. [laughs] Oh, I did every once in a while play it at the shop when everyone would let me. Yeah, I know.
• 20:48
And there wasn't, you know- We don't know how to play music anymore... country... kinda sucks. Really? Yeah. Wait, what? Uh- You can't play music at the shop anymore? Did that get shut down? Fights? Yeah.
• 20:55
Well, no, just Micah's a little crabby patty. Oh, well, that's Micah. Yeah. [laughs] It's not country, so he's pissed off. Yeah. Yeah. Well- I'm gonna beat that man... that's probably a- He's gonna kill me...
• 21:05
probably a good thing if you don't have to listen to country. You know, I suppose. Um- If the option is no music or country, I'm going no music, unless it's Johnny Cash. Well, unless it's old country.
• 21:13
Or, or there's some good country. Old country. Normal country. There is some good country out there. Not pop country. We are old country. Pop and pop country, those are two verboten. I'll, I'll be aware of it.
• 21:22
You can't not be aware of it. Well, I like Sturgill Simpson. Sturgill Simpson's pretty new. Yeah. I mean, he was- No, no, i- in terms of new new, but, like- Yeah... you know.
• 21:32
It's like Florida/Georgia line, that's just pop. Yeah. I mean, it's, all you, all you're doing is singing a pop song with a twang, and that's not country. Damn it. [laughs] All right. JK has spoken.
• 21:46
[laughs] Yes, you know. [laughs] No, it's, it's, it's- I don't normally put down on much, but damn it all I mean, this is a radio station that when Molly and I moved to Colorado in 2002,
• 21:57
we had to have, I had to buy a special receiver with an internet connection strictly so I could stream WMSE [laughs] at the, at the apartment we lived in. Nice. And I was all for it. That's amazing- Yeah...
• 22:09
that they've been actually streaming that long because it's- Yep... a lot of stations are Johnny-come-latelys to getting on the- Yeah. And the, and- Back then too, you could download the entire MP3 archive.
• 22:17
Uh, well, yeah. And, and the archive that they have now, it's like 14 years back. Yeah. Pretty much. Pretty much. I mean, there's a couple gappers at times where, you know, somebody didn't hit a button- Right...
• 22:28
or, you know, the playlist didn't either. Oh, that's never happened here before. [laughs] No, I mean, hey, you know, you know, everyone's fallible. It's blah.
• 22:34
Hey, professional, professional radio professionals do that too. All right. They done right.
• 22:38
Yeah, I just, uh, out of random, pulled up a, a, a Von Munns from 2019, and it happened to be International Clash Day, and I'm like- Nice. Oh, yeah. Good call. [laughs] Yeah, we need to have him- Which just occurred...
• 22:50
on the show. Well, yeah. He's a cyclist. He's a DJ. We have to try to get as many WMSE DJs as we can. That's our goal. Oh. So- Tony's, Tony's got an assignment... I used to bag groceries with Johnny Zeigler.
• 23:02
We can get him here. Um, that's how long, that's how old I am. Well, uh, Jeff Joy's my attorney. Jeff Joy? [laughs] Which, which I think he's down to one Wednesday a month now, but. Yeah? That, that's cool.
• 23:16
Y- we were, when- Obviously full life... when Keith was talking before we went on the air, he was talking about, "Oh, everybody sounds like they have a radio voice." I go, "Guess who has a real radio voice? Jeff Joy."
• 23:24
[laughs] And, like, if that guy's arguing a case in front of a judge- He's winning... he's winning. 'Cause if- You know, it'd be fun to get Squid Ink on. It'd be, you know, we could throw out some, some requests.
• 23:35
Well, yeah. We take this on the road, we know where- You know... to go. Right. I know where some of these cats hang. Hang. There we go. And it's like dinka dinka donk dun. Dinky doo. Yeah, yeah.
• 23:44
In fact, I have a battery pack- And, oh yeah, and Terry-... for just such an emergency. And Terry Havel, uh, moved over, at least at one point, over into the, uh, in the hood here. Nice.
• 23:54
'Cause I remember seeing him over at Circle A in the- Just hanging out... the pre-world [laughs] when you could go to Circle A and hang out and yeah. These will be fun things.
• 24:04
'Cause I think a lot of the people that- Yeah... work at the station are cyclists, for sure. Oh, yeah. For real.
• 24:09
Well- And this week, they finally announced some live shows coming to Turner Hall, and such very exciting- And Shane...
• 24:16
and Sha- It's been almost a y- it's been over a year since I saw the last show at Turner Hall, which is really a drag. Shellac? Damn right it was Shellac. [laughs] Motherfucking right it was Shellac.
• 24:24
It was a fucking great show. Yeah. One of... Oh, God. It, it, yeah, and a couple of them just, like, popped out. Such a great band. Agent Orange. Oh.
• 24:30
Agent Orange is, uh, somewhere in the late summer Early fall That'd be a fun show. That'd be a really fun show... Dinosaur Jr. What? Oh, no, no New album... no, d- well, Dinosaur Jr.
• 24:42
is playing First Avenue in Minneapolis Oh. Mm-hmm. Might be worth driving to Minneapolis for Wait for it. Wait for it. Not, no, not- JK was mentioning something about a Fat Tire Tour. Yeah.
• 24:55
I, I looked on the site- Two-... and it doesn't say anything about- It was a-... current, but-... it was a face place reference I'll have to look, look up that Yeah.
• 25:02
There, I, yeah, it's, they're gonna try to think it, it like, uh, our plan is to hold the event as close to the traditional manner as possible. Which is typically Father's Day area, right? Yeah. Right, right.
• 25:15
Give or take an iron But we realize the world won't be fully recovered- Right... at, by June, June 19th. Right. So go over to Best Place, hang out. Ride our bikes.
• 25:24
Maybe we c- you know, we can get a, uh, let's do a preliminary crusher ride this year. Oh, yeah. Kind of, that's, I'm excited about that. Which would be in that just after Fat Tire Tour zone. That's a good ride, too.
• 25:37
It's a nice des- it's, you know, what, 16 round trip? Ooh, m- maybe, depending on how you drop people off at the far end, it could be a lot further than that.
• 25:45
[laughs] Well, it has been from one or two times, but I mean, that's a, that's a- Oh, you get, I get, I get-... really nice ride... I get, I get that far south, man, I'm in the rock polisher and it's like,
• 25:55
which way is north? I have no idea. Right. [laughs] You get over there, it gets kinda like- And if, and if you say it convincingly enough-... I have no idea... I will just keep going south. I will, too.
• 26:01
[laughs] Like, hmm. S- speaking of heading south, um, and changing subject completely, but the rumor mill at Dino's. Uh-oh. Dino's is currently under, yes, please. Um- Yes, please. Can I have one, too?
• 26:15
[laughs] Uh, Dino's is currently having some action outside of it. B-double E-double R-U-N. Berrun. Speaking of country. Um, and I have heard a vicious rumor- I heard a rumor...
• 26:29
and I am really optimistic on this rumor that that is gonna be Vanguard. Oh. If that becomes Vanguard, I'm gonna gain 50 pounds this year. Oh. Well, you could- The hotdog place from the south side. [laughs] Oh. Ooh.
• 26:45
Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's bad. I mean, that always- That would be, that would be danger zone. That would be highway to the danger zone, man, 'cause they make a mean sausage and- 'Cause that's-...
• 26:54
their other things are also delicious... that was always one of my, you know, southern- Yeah, that'd be my reason-... destinations... to go to Bay View... you know. It's like, oh, how far do I wanna go?
• 27:02
Oh, okay, I could go to Walker's Point. I'll stop at Sabbatic. Or- I could go Bay View and stop at Vanguard. Vanguard. [laughs] And- When I worked at The Illuminati, lunch there was- Oh, shit. Yeah...
• 27:13
a, a sausage, a Pabst, and fries for five bucks. [laughs] No shit. It's like- Yeah, exactly... okay. And WrestleMania IV was playing with- Right, always... and I'm like, [growls] You want an e- I, I...
• 27:24
The Wisconsin dog cost you an extra buck because it came with spready cheese, m- um, spready cheese, sharp cheddar, and cheese curds on top of a hot dog. Yep, yep, yep, yep.
• 27:37
Yeah, you could not pretty much move after you ate that thing. And they had the Dir- the Dirty Burger- Ooh... with a great rendering of, uh, Randy Bo Mandy- Bo Mandy... on the thing. Oh.
• 27:50
And you could get it the way they get it, or you could have it done Wisconsin style, sloppy as hell- Yep, yep... which I did. Yeah, of course. And it's just insanity.
• 27:58
And then when the shop moves, it's gonna be on the way back home. Oh, yeah. Yeah, that is- I'll make, I'll make- Are you guys moving? No, when you guys move. No, you're sh- when we move. Oh, when we move. Yeah.
• 28:05
[laughs] Oh, yeah, did you say Spike moving? I didn't- Of course. Spike rude. I think, I think they're pretty well dialed in over there. How's your bike riding going, Keith?
• 28:12
Is it, uh- Oh, I was, I was loving the past two weeks. I finally, I always ride my bike to work whenever I can. I'm not as tough as Tony, so when it gets cold out, I drive my car.
• 28:21
[laughs] Uh, you mean, wait, wait, I believe your exact words were, "My balls haven't dropped yet." [laughs] Yeah, I just turned 25. [laughs] So you're rocking a Roll, right? Yeah. Yeah.
• 28:32
You get the- I've been lo- I've been loving it a lot. I tell you, they're great bikes. I, I, and, uh, availability is, is coming back.
• 28:39
I think we're looking at May, and then they're dropping, like, six containers in June. And so, um, hopefully the Roll train is back 'cause we kind of, it d- it kinda- It's a nice bike... derailed last year.
• 28:51
But they do a really good job, I think. Um, I'm looking at mine right now. It's sitting up there with the Orange. [laughs] Yeah, let me see that bike. Let me look at my...
• 28:58
[laughs] And they just- I'm not gonna lie, though, I'd like to go, I, I wanna go faster. Go faster. That's pretty easy to do. He's looking faster. We just give you a bigger ring. Skinny tires. Bigger chain ring.
• 29:10
Don't worry about it. [laughs] Don't blow out your old ring. And then they're smaller tires, like you're, you're chewing. You go down there and break your shit. That's skinnier tires, not smaller. Oh, sorry.
• 29:19
Skinnier tires. Smaller's more like BMX. Fat, skinny tires. Yeah, okay. Speaking of BMX, I encourage you all to check out Tim Knoll's newest video. Oh, nice. It is, he does-
• 29:30
Oh, I- Have you seen him moon walking on a BMX bike? Oh, yeah. That's a, that's a good bit that he does. That is like, dude, he is so strong that he can, it, you gotta watch this. We're gonna watch it for sure.
• 29:40
Does he walk, does he walk horizontally along the wall? Yeah. [laughs] Yeah, yeah. Okay. I think I, it, it's, I've seen the- This one was released yesterday, but yes... I've, I've seen a version where he does that.
• 29:48
Yeah, he- It's really cool. Yeah, the guy's- I mean, he's like Jean-Claude Van Damme as a gymnast when he was in school. Mm-hmm. But now he's a BMXer, not a stupid actor. Do you know all those- Split. Oh...
• 30:00
all those semis as you're going on Fratney on your way to Spike that are all parked at that place? Well, no, 'cause, I mean, when I ride my bike, I usually come from- The other way... Lake Drive. Yeah.
• 30:12
Well, we'll show you what this guy does with those things. Oh, boy. Yeah, like he, there's- He is-... I fou- I found the video where he, he does it, but, um- That's just- I know.
• 30:18
I, I- Basically, he goes underneath semis on his bike- Yeah... leaning backwards... yeah, leaning backwards. On a pedal bike or just a- On a pedal, on a BMX bike. Oh. With his m- with his mast sticking up.
• 30:27
Yeah, he's- Basically. The guy's such a- I can't, it's like I can't go by that docking bay- And not see that video... and not, and, or, or just kinda like go, "I, no way in hell." [laughs] Like, and
• 30:38
I, I'm sure I've mentioned it before, but I was just riding back 'cause- The nut factory is right there too- Mm-hmm... which I've been in for 15 years with our Schlick, Schlick shop.
• 30:47
And, uh, just kind of randomly about 8:00 PM one summer day, I'm coming down Fratney and there he is- Oh, shit... doing that. Riding on it? Just without a camera going or anything, just like- Having fun... I'm doing it.
• 30:58
[laughs] It's like, "Holy shit, did I just see that for real?" [laughs] I literally came around the corner from my house onto Chambers, and he was stacking pallets to do tricks off of pallets. I'm like, "Hey, Tim.
• 31:10
It's so funny to, like, have a guy like that in your neighborhood." He's like, "Yeah, how's it going?"
• 31:13
Well, I think the interesting thing about him is he's kinda like, um, like Lance Mountain, the skateboarder that grew up in Florida where not many people were skating, and basically does his own thing.
• 31:24
Uh, th- he does so, so many unique things that he's not in, like, a group of 50 people who are all learning from each other. He's just kinda making his own stuff up. Yep. And I think that's pretty cool.
• 31:37
Yeah, he's got some goods. Uh, and Milwaukee. And Milwaukee. Not only Milwaukee, 53212 motherfucker. The 212, yo. Um, I don't know, shit worth doing this... I got stuff down the road here.
• 31:50
Um, Ride Across Wisconsin's happening. It's a little different than normal. Ah. [burps] Excuse me. Ah-ha. Um, it's a four-day thing where you're not all groupied up, but that's a fundraiser for, um, the Bike Fed.
• 32:07
Bike Fed. And if you raise 200 doll hairs, you get your entry for free. Hmm. Is that La Crosse to Green Bay? Yeah, right. Exactly, which is a... What is that, 160 miles or something? Something like that. Like, lacrosse?
• 32:20
Yeah, you ride lacrosse to Green Bay. Yeah, you can do it in a day. You can do it in two days. That's why it's called Race Across Wisconsin. Oh. Or you could be the hard a- That's Ride Across Wisconsin...
• 32:28
like the badasses- Or race [laughs]... uh, Mike and Berta, and do it single speed. Yeah. [laughs] And you c- you can do it in one day- I was like [laughs]... two days, or three or four days this time. My hat's off.
• 32:37
Oh, okay. So there's an option. So I can almost do it. Yeah, there's options. Well, you could, you could do it on your e-bike. Don't worry about it. Oof. I brought my e-bike tonight.
• 32:44
[laughs] I saw that some batteries were gone today. I went, "Hmm." Yeah, I have to go... Matter of fact, I gotta go out and get those so I can charge them.
• 32:49
That's, like, July 30th, so that will be the week after the 24, if the 24 happens in some form this year. Oh. You know, I'm telling you right here and now, the 24 is happening forever- Well, yeah...
• 33:01
in some way, shape, or form from here on, because we have to. Whether it's just hanging at Tony's house and riding around- Exactly... or not. You know? All right.
• 33:07
So I'll we'll have, we'll- Hit up some sweet jumps These are the stops. Yeah. These were the stops. We'll, we'll ha- we'll have a bonus checkpoint even if there's only one at the new place.
• 33:13
And it might even be a dunk tank. [laughs] Oh, that was a good year. Who's gonna be in it? That was a good year. It's the person prior to you that shows up at the checkpoint. There's a video of this. It was very cold.
• 33:24
Yeah, it was good. It was good. All right. The haircut may be back. Well, I know we didn't learn a lot from Keith today, 'cause we didn't talk to him much. Yeah, man.
• 33:31
But thanks very much for showing up to the show today. And now we're gonna talk to him a lot. That was great. Yeah. Well, you can come here. Anytime.
• 33:37
You're welcome anytime, especially when we start making fire and flames- Fire... and making bikes and stuff. Yeah, then we'll have something to talk about. Fire. Fire. Yeah, we'll have stuff to talk about.
• 33:46
Uh, next week, I don't know. Right. We'll be, we'll be here, I guess. [laughs] Maybe at the O-ship, but maybe not. Well, I mean, we'll be in your ear hole- Right... versus not. All right. Thanks, Shannon, for calling in.
• 33:57
Thank you, Shannon, and thanks, Big Sexy, for calling before the show started- Yeah... because, you know, by cracky, we gotta ca- catch up with Big Sexy. [laughs] I'm sure we'll hear from him soon.
• 34:05
Gotta keep us spread out. I think he was doing a little, uh, St. Patrick's Day celebrating today. No. Or- But it was East Coast... two days ago. It was East Coast. Keep it rolling. Right on.
• 34:15
All right, everybody, thank you very much. Uh, talk to you next week. Ernin, ernin.
• 34:28
  [upbeat rock music]
