- 2:06We're very happy to have him. We're now talking to former 9.
- 2:09I'm sorry, 10 year NFL vet and now Auburn Sports Radio radio
- 2:15broadcaster, the one and only Jason Campbell.
- 2:19Jason, what's up, buddy? What's going on fellas?
- 2:22Appreciate, appreciate y'all having me on.
- 2:24Looking forward to being on the show.
- 2:26Man. I just heard y'all renting off
- 2:28pretty good. Pretty good list of hot topics
- 2:30in in in baseball right now as well.
- 2:32Yeah. Well, we, we, we got really deep
- 2:35into the whole football. Take the Caleb Williams and
- 2:37obviously the Jaden Daniels argument.
- 2:39Who's the guy and who's going to be the better quarterback in And
- 2:43that's what I want to get into. Jason, I always liked you.
- 2:46I remember you on the Washington commanders.
- 2:48I thought Washington didn't treat you the way they should
- 2:51have treated you. I, I think the coaching was a
- 2:54lackluster ownership was just so bad.
- 2:57They brought in players that didn't fit really the team and
- 3:01the, and the defense. You were put in a bad position
- 3:05really your whole career. I I look at you, it's funny
- 3:07because I remember you as a kid and I was, I was watching you
- 3:12and I was like, man, this guy, this guy's much better if they
- 3:16put players around him and they just didn't do enough of that.
- 3:19But now you look at guys like Caleb Williams and Jaden
- 3:23Daniels. Jaden Daniels took his team to
- 3:25the NFC title game in his rookie season.
- 3:27Caleb Williams had Matt Everfluse and now you see a
- 3:29difference with Ben Johnson. When you look at both of these
- 3:32quarterbacks. What do you like about both
- 3:35quarterbacks and who do you think is going to transform
- 3:40their team in the next 10 years? Wow, that's a that's a that's a
- 3:44great, great question. And I said thanks for always
- 3:47your support and everything. Like I said, that's, that's the
- 3:49NFL, man. I always tell people sometimes
- 3:52the hardest thing, like there's a lot of great players in the
- 3:55NFL, but sometimes you can end up in bad situations and it's
- 3:58nothing you can do about it. You got to be professional as
- 4:00much as you can. But when I think about Jayden
- 4:03Daniels, I think about, you know, Caleb, I watched that game
- 4:06Monday night and when I look at when I look at Jayden Daniels,
- 4:11they tailor everything to what he does great.
- 4:15You know, like they, they really run their system off what he
- 4:18does great. I do think the knee injury kind
- 4:21of slows some things down Monday night for them that they didn't
- 4:24call as many RP OS that they probably are used to call it
- 4:27because they're trying to limit him from running.
- 4:30But when I think about Caleb, though, watching him last year
- 4:34compared to this year last year, I think they try to make him fit
- 4:37a system that they was trying to run this year.
- 4:41I think Ben Johnson has came in and said, no, we're going to do
- 4:44what your strengths are. And that's exactly what he did
- 4:47with Jerry Golf in in Detroit. You know, Jerry Golf is in
- 4:51Detroit. Jerry Golf, he knew it was a
- 4:53play action passer. He know he can he can read
- 4:55defenses better that way. He gots a strong one and throw
- 4:58the ball down the field and that's what they did.
- 5:00They didn't do a whole bunch of empty formations or no RP OS
- 5:04with him. But you see what Caleb, they do
- 5:06some RPO game with it and then they also chunk it deep, but
- 5:09they hit some, they hit passes that are high percentage passes.
- 5:13They give him confidence and I think that's the difference
- 5:16between having Ben Johnson and what he went through last year
- 5:18where they just trying to make him fit what they wanted him to
- 5:21do instead of the other way now. Who do you think in the next 10
- 5:25years, who do you think fits the mold with their rosters?
- 5:29And I you don't know, I mean, this is a guess because you
- 5:31don't know what these rosters are going to be 10 years.
- 5:33But what you see with both these young quarterbacks, who do you
- 5:36think is going to transform their team and and maybe win a
- 5:39Super Bowl? Who probably just have to say
- 5:43being honest. Probably Jayden Daniels, just
- 5:46because, you know, the guy did it at LSU for at a high level.
- 5:50And, you know, you saw what he did last year in his rookie
- 5:52season, you know, taking the Commanders deep into the playoff
- 5:56before running into that great defense that the Eagles had last
- 5:58year. So, you know, like Caleb, we
- 6:01still need to see more, right? We need to see him win at a high
- 6:03level, but I think them starting off O and two and now they're
- 6:07three and two. I think he showed a lot of
- 6:09promise over these last couple of weeks that that he can
- 6:12respond for one, you know, he can get knocked down and he can
- 6:15he can batter batter his way back.
- 6:17And I think that's the thing you're seeing to him now where
- 6:20he's planning so much more confident that then he did a
- 6:22year ago. Last year something bad
- 6:24happened. It would go from one pick to 3/4
- 6:26picks. You know where this year it's
- 6:28almost like, you know, they're off the shoulders, you know,
- 6:31keep it moving, you know, we'll worry about it later.
- 6:34And that's the difference. I see him now in the Bears
- 6:36Defense is playing pretty good right now.
- 6:38And I think that always helps a young quarterback.
- 6:41So you obviously went through with Washington with the
- 6:44ownership over there with, with Dan Snyder, my my extended
- 6:47family member who's a big on Washington.
- 6:48If they wanted me to mention this to you, like did you ever
- 6:50have any face to face interaction that wasn't really
- 6:52as bad as a lot of the ex players are portraying?
- 6:54And that's because we've seen now since the new ownership's
- 6:56taken over, a lot of players have gotten the call back.
- 6:58They've retired the numbers and got more ceremonies for them.
- 7:01Have have they treated you a lot better as an alumni guy as an
- 7:04alumni since then? What was it like over there?
- 7:06Yeah, You know, ever since, you know, of course the new
- 7:08ownership came in and then they put different people in the
- 7:11office and and, you know, we they reach out all the time, you
- 7:14know, as far as like alumni, like want to invite you, come
- 7:16back to games, inviting you to, you know, come up to training
- 7:20camp. And of course, it's been hard
- 7:21for me to be able to do that just because of the fact that I
- 7:23call games for Auburn during the season.
- 7:25So I have to travel with the team.
- 7:27And then the other aspect of it is I do NIL revenue share for
- 7:31Auburn. So, you know, being tied up with
- 7:34ages and parents and all that all the time, I don't get as
- 7:36much free time in order to get to Washington, But but they do
- 7:40reach out a lot with this new regime and and everything.
- 7:43And I know when, you know, when Dan was there, you know, I say
- 7:46it was, it was hit or miss, right?
- 7:47Like you can like you just, it was just, it was just it almost
- 7:52like you try to buy a championship instead of trying
- 7:55to, you know, build 1. You know, I I feel like, you
- 7:58know, we went out and got a lot of high price free agents, but
- 8:02like you said, just may necessary not fit the mold of
- 8:05what you're trying to do rather than just, you know, taking that
- 8:07money and billing through the draft and and keeping guys
- 8:11together. I mean, when I got to the team,
- 8:13there's a lot of older veterans and I was like one of the young
- 8:15pups. So it wasn't a lot of young
- 8:17drafted guys with me on offense, you know, that I can kind of
- 8:20groom with and I think that's a different you see now with with
- 8:24with Jayden Daniels is they surrounded him with as much
- 8:27talent they can youth, but they older guys they bring in or like
- 8:30experience guys that have won and good for your locker room,
- 8:34you know, and and those type of things.
- 8:37But as I say, Dan had it his way.
- 8:39But you can definitely see, you know, Magic Johnson as
- 8:41well-being involved in this, like he's been toward the Lakers
- 8:46and and the Dodgers for years. So you can definitely see his
- 8:49hand on on the Washington franchise as well.
- 8:51No, there's a lot of fans that Schneider had his hands dipped
- 8:55in. I don't want to get into it.
- 9:00We are talking to former 10 year NFL quarterback and all burn
- 9:05sports radio broadcaster Jason Campbell.
- 9:08You know Jason, I'm looking at your statistics.
- 9:10They're they're exceptional. I you look at what they gave
- 9:14you, your best year was 2009. You had 3618 yards, you had 20
- 9:19touchdowns, you did throw 15 interceptions.
- 9:21That's because the lack of talent around you.
- 9:24When you look at your career, do you think or would you have
- 9:28changed something in your career if you could change it again?
- 9:32Oh yeah, stability is one, right?
- 9:34Like being able to have one coordinator for multiple years
- 9:38where you get to the line of scrimmage and you can just see a
- 9:40look and say, OK, I could check out of this play and get to the
- 9:42next play. You know, as as hard as the NFL
- 9:45is that you're always relearning offenses while you're trying to
- 9:48play, then that's hard, man, because you never did get a
- 9:51chance to let your talent just show because you're thinking and
- 9:53playing at the same time. And yeah, I just like to say the
- 9:56stabilities for me would have been the best thing.
- 9:58And, and everything, once Joe Gibbs retired, you know, it was
- 10:02just kind of like Jim Zorn was hired to be the quarterback
- 10:04coach, offense coordinator before head coach was even
- 10:07hired, you know, and then all of a sudden head coach wanted to
- 10:10bring his guys in. So that didn't work.
- 10:12So then they ended up moving Jim Zorn to head coach and, you
- 10:15know, nothing get Jim. He's a he's an awesome guy, but
- 10:17he never had experience that coordinator or head coach.
- 10:19So now you're asking him to do both of them at one time.
- 10:23And, and everything in 2008, we start off hot.
- 10:27But at the same time, though, you know, once people caught on
- 10:30to what we was doing, you know, you can kind of see the lack of
- 10:32experience of being able to adjust a little bit more in
- 10:36those situations. But yeah, it it's just man, just
- 10:40being able to groom with some teams.
- 10:41When you look at like the Eagles and you look at, you know, some
- 10:45of these other teams like Brock Purdy we got with the 49ers,
- 10:48like these teams are already set, you know, sound like they
- 10:51already had great defenses, good run games.
- 10:54And now you now you come in, there is not so much pressure on
- 10:57the quarterback to, you know, feel like you got to do so much.
- 11:00You know, it's just you will play your game.
- 11:03But but you know, at the end of the day, it is what it is.
- 11:07You live with it, you move on. But the same time, like you say,
- 11:10yes, I I do wish, you know, at some point there would be a lot
- 11:14of stability. And I really hate 'cause 2011 in
- 11:16the Oakland, we was having a great season before I broke my
- 11:19collarbone. And to me, I was getting ready
- 11:22to sign another deal and that you was probably gonna make the
- 11:25playoffs. And, you know, we've turned the
- 11:26Raiders around and like, and I was playing with a great group
- 11:30of young guys and we was taking off and then all of a sudden
- 11:33collarbone injury happened and they end up making a trade.
- 11:35But they got, they felt desperate at the time to save
- 11:37the season. But it messed up all the
- 11:40nucleus, you know, like, people don't understand, like when you
- 11:44have a nucleus of guys that kind of click, you just don't mess
- 11:47that up. And, and it took the Raiders a
- 11:50long time before they even got back to that.
- 11:52Yeah, I remember that season because obviously Tim Tebow got
- 11:54all the hype with the Broncos like their turn around too.
- 11:57You guys were right there. Like I thought you guys were
- 11:59going to make the playoffs. And I think the Raiders, another
- 12:01team that really mistreated you after that they you're like they
- 12:03got desperate trade a first round pick for Carson Palmer and
- 12:06went everything like that and it was rough.
- 12:09And you look at organizations like that that seems like they
- 12:11can't get out of their own way to with quarterbacks.
- 12:13And now you're seeing it with obviously Washington finally
- 12:16found theirs, but it Raiders outside Derek Carr.
- 12:18They haven't haven't taken to find that.
- 12:20Like what do you think it is with like a lot of those isn't
- 12:22isn't the ownership problem? Is that a team culture issue
- 12:24that we've seen? Because now Tom Brady's over
- 12:26there with the Raiders and they go don't side Sam Darnell,
- 12:29meanwhile, is that a great year? Do you think ownership gets too
- 12:31involved with that kind of thing?
- 12:33Once you hire GM and you hire, you know, people to do their
- 12:37job, you have to let them do their job, right?
- 12:40Right. I'm going to give you the
- 12:42opportunity to show me that you can do what I hired you to do
- 12:45before I even intervene. And I think at that concept of
- 12:49that, you know, I think a lot of those owners in some situation,
- 12:52they just can't keep their hands out of it long enough, you know,
- 12:57to the point that they've got to like, feel like they're involved
- 12:59or they got to feel like I'm doing something.
- 13:01You know, that's why I say I think Magic being with
- 13:05Washington is really good, right?
- 13:06Because Magic has been a player and he's seen how, you know, it
- 13:10can affect the locker room if you get too involved.
- 13:12And I think, you know, you seen Josh kind of not be in the
- 13:15media, not doing a lot of interviews, you know, kind of
- 13:19letting the the the GM and the staff kind of handle everything.
- 13:23And they're trying to work on like the stadium aspect and all
- 13:25those things. They're not really getting
- 13:26heavily involved with personnel. And you you see it at the Dallas
- 13:30Cowboys right now. You know, Jerry's kind of got
- 13:33his hand and I thought the Cowboys had a really good roster
- 13:36and I think they just kind of messed it up.
- 13:37And and you see that, you know, not being able to work something
- 13:40out with Michael Parsons and you know, one of your young guys.
- 13:44It's just some guys just feel like they can't help themselves.
- 13:47I just feel out with the Raiders.
- 13:48Even Washington, you think about Cleveland Browns, a lot of these
- 13:52team that used to have a history, right, of winning
- 13:54championships and compete for championship.
- 13:57Back in the day when they was doing that, guys, there was no
- 14:00big free agency. Guys stayed together 78910
- 14:04years, you know, so the team was able to be built where now
- 14:10there's free agency and you got to be able to dip and move every
- 14:13three to four years. And how do I keep my main
- 14:15roster, my main core together? And I think a lot of guys just
- 14:18panic. They want instant results
- 14:20instantly. Think about Buffalo was about to
- 14:22get rid of Josh Allen before the season.
- 14:25He had his last year and then they end up resigning him.
- 14:29But before that, they was talking about letting him go.
- 14:31He just had gotten there. So the patience is no longer,
- 14:36you better hit it your first year when you get dropped as a
- 14:38rookie or otherwise you're going to be trying to get rid of you
- 14:40within two years. And you look at Sam Darna, you
- 14:42look at Baker Mayfield. Like once they got with
- 14:45culturals and they got with people that believed in them and
- 14:48they got with coordinators, they let them be themselves.
- 14:51Now their careers taking off, it's just about man being the
- 14:53right fit, the right place at the right time with with people
- 14:56that that know what they're doing.
- 14:57Jason, I'm a Jet fan, OK, So you don't have to tell me about
- 15:00quarterbacks, all right? You don't have to tell me how
- 15:02many quarterbacks that Jets have to go through.
- 15:04It's like, it's like the Goodyear blimp just floating and
- 15:07floating and floating and not popping.
- 15:09OK? That is what a being a Jet fan
- 15:12has to be. And, and, and and these Jet fans
- 15:15are absolutely bogus because they're throwing away Aaron
- 15:17Glenn already. Oh, he's he's done.
- 15:19He's a during the headlines. You don't you know what to do.
- 15:21So I'm tired of jet fans, so I don't want to hear it from the
- 15:24jet fans. I want I'm I'm with these three
- 15:27bone heads. OK, my board up guy, Tommy
- 15:30scoops. We call him Tommy poops.
- 15:32He's a giant fan. This idiot over here that you
- 15:34see speedy PD, he's a giant fan. My executive producer that you
- 15:38saw do do the sports minute. He's a giant fan.
- 15:41They're all giant fans, every single one of them.
- 15:43You played for the Commanders, all right, When you look at this
- 15:46giant organization and this love fest for Scataboo and Jackson
- 15:51Dart because of one freaking game against the Eagles.
- 15:55So your thoughts to this New York Giants praise for giant
- 15:59fans with Jackson Dart, You have Jackson Dart standing like this
- 16:03in a picture and you have Scataboo looking down like he's
- 16:06like some kind of like relish man, you know, feeding an Oscar
- 16:10Mayer Wiener. What what?
- 16:12What are your thoughts to this giant team after an Eagles win?
- 16:16I mean, these guys thought they won a Super Bowl.
- 16:19Hey, think about it. It's been a long time since the
- 16:22Giants have seen some promise. You know, I played against the
- 16:26Giants when I was at Washington. You think about the head OC
- 16:29stray hand hook, you know, like just loaded on both sides of the
- 16:35ball. And now you look at the Giants
- 16:38and it's like they don't look like the same Giants.
- 16:40But the defensively, they're starting to look like the old
- 16:43Giants. They're you know, they got burns
- 16:44and you know, those guys that can kind of get after the passer
- 16:47right. So offensively, I think they
- 16:49just been kind of searching for the quarterback, right, how who
- 16:52who's going to be the quarterback?
- 16:54And then you got scatter Boo and he's out there making noise.
- 16:57And I think it's giving the fans some enjoyment when they go to
- 17:01the games and and excitement and these young pups, man are are
- 17:06are making the giants irrelevant again.
- 17:09So you ready to hear? It's still a lot of season to be
- 17:11played though. Like I said, it's all fun and
- 17:13games. Long as you winning, all that
- 17:15looks good. But once people get a book
- 17:19report on you and they start to study you a little bit more, now
- 17:23becomes professional. Being a quarterback and and
- 17:26everything now, can you be able to adjust when people are
- 17:29changing their way, they're changing the way they play you?
- 17:31So I was on YouTube, I was hanging out.
- 17:33I, I'm a YouTube guy looking at our stuff.
- 17:36I, I watch a lot of these serial killing, you know, documentaries
- 17:39because it interests me. I bump into this.
- 17:42You guys got to hear this. I don't know if anybody's heard
- 17:44this. This is called this is called
- 17:47scat. OK
- 18:24please, please I can't listen to it anymore.
- 18:28This is hit him with the scat. Hit him with the scat.
- 18:31Yeah, I'll hit him with the scat.
- 18:33I'll back kick him with my scat. Jesus Christ, go ahead, speed.
- 18:37All right, I'm going to shift to some some college football.
- 18:39Obviously the biggest story maybe in all sports this week,
- 18:41James Franklin getting fired by Penn State.
- 18:43Obviously you're an SEC guy, but you do work with a lot of
- 18:45obviously you work with NIL stuff like that too.
- 18:47And there was another story coming out that maybe Adidas
- 18:50might have had something to do with that with the NINIL growth
- 18:52and maybe when they want to get to Penn State.
- 18:53So what are your thoughts? First, the firing of Penn State
- 18:56and how involved could these companies, Adidas, Nike,
- 18:59etcetera, be with some of these coaching decisions and the
- 19:01decisions within the athletic departments?
- 19:03Well, somebody got to pay that big buyout, right?
- 19:0549.4 million, you know, so somebody is heavily involved.
- 19:10What you think about a guy that just went to the playoffs last
- 19:12year, won two, two playoff games, I understand, yes.
- 19:17He hadn't beat Michigan, he hadn't beat Oregon, he hadn't
- 19:19beat Ohio State. But you just gave him an
- 19:21extension. You know that you not just just
- 19:24give him extension all the sudden now you fire him within
- 19:27one year that extension. Like to me, they're just too
- 19:31quick. Like they lost a lot of their
- 19:33team last year. When you lose your your
- 19:35quarterback and I mean, you lose star players, right?
- 19:39And now all of a sudden you had to use toe to toe in the Oregon
- 19:42game and you don't win the Oregon game.
- 19:45It's almost like that game just ripped their heart out.
- 19:49It's almost like they was been they've been struggling to get
- 19:51back since they lost their game. You go and lose the UCLA, who
- 19:56was has an interim head coach, and you get West.
- 20:00You know, out in Southern California and then you play
- 20:03against who just beat on his back.
- 20:05Northwestern. Yeah, Northwestern coming to
- 20:08your town and you lose the Northwestern.
- 20:10I think that would did it. I think the UCLA game kind of
- 20:13just caught him by surprise and then lose the Northwestern.
- 20:17Penn State has high hopes and but to me that was just too
- 20:20soon, too fast. Like everybody goes through that
- 20:22season sometimes where you have high hopes and things didn't go
- 20:25that way. Look at Florida State for
- 20:27example. They started to see how they
- 20:28beat Alabama about thought they gonna be in the playoffs.
- 20:31You know, now they're now they're what?
- 20:33O and three and ACC Thank you. Thank you Jason, I'm a Florida
- 20:37State fan. Thank you for shoving that in my
- 20:39face from the. Jets to that.
- 20:42Thank you. Can't put the trigger so fast
- 20:44because teams can be equal nowadays because the trend,
- 20:48because transfer portal and the revenue share, everybody has
- 20:51money now. Yeah.
- 20:53So teams like Vanderbilt, yeah, everybody else may be surprised,
- 20:57but Vanderbilt always been competitive.
- 20:58But now they can be really competitive because they got
- 21:00just the same amount of money as every other SEC school when it
- 21:03comes to revenue, budget. So they can contain a lot of
- 21:05their top talent where guys used to go there, ball out and
- 21:08everybody come and get them and they go to another school.
- 21:10Now those guys are staying there.
- 21:11You can however you want to do it.
- 21:13Pavia Mania, you know this guy's doing outstanding.
- 21:17Maybe you should just hit them with the scat.
- 21:19As you know, Giant fans believe it too.
- 21:22We are talking to former 10 year NFL quarterback in Auburn,
- 21:25Auburn sports radio broadcaster Jason Campbell.
- 21:28Jason played for the Commanders, the Raiders, the Bears, the
- 21:31Browns and the Bengals. Had a sensational career in the
- 21:33NFL, was a all world college player.
- 21:37It really was. If, if listen, I, I'm bringing
- 21:39up these numbers. I I want people to understand
- 21:42what Jason Campbell did in his college years that people
- 21:46probably forgot. This guy was the SEC Offensive
- 21:50player of the Year in 2004, first team all SEC in 2004,
- 21:54Sugar Bowl MVP in 2005 and Music City Ball MVP in 2003.
- 22:01This guy, he had a sensational career and he was drafted in the
- 22:05same draft as Alex Smith, Aaron Rodgers and he was right behind
- 22:09them. And I I believe, you know, if it
- 22:12wasn't with that injury problem that he had with the with the
- 22:16Raiders, maybe, maybe it does make a run in the place, maybe
- 22:18wins the Super Bowl with the Raiders, who knows?
- 22:21We've seen crazier things. We've seen a lot of crazier
- 22:23things. So you know what's crazy about
- 22:26football, Jason and I've gone we were speaking about this on our
- 22:29first segment is that football is the most transitional,
- 22:34transitional league in sport out of all the sports.
- 22:38If you think about it, you could be the worst team in the NFL.
- 22:41You could have the worst defense in the NFL the year before and
- 22:45then have the best team in the NFL and the best defense in the
- 22:48NFL the year after. Why is that?
- 22:51Why why does the why is the NFL so different?
- 22:54You can't do that in basketball, even if you had a player, you
- 22:57can't do that in hockey. You can't do that in you can't
- 23:00do that in baseball. You can have the best player in
- 23:01the world and you're still not going to win.
- 23:03Look at the look at the Yankees. So why is football so different
- 23:08than the other sports? Well, one is injuries.
- 23:13Injuries can derail you big time in football because you know,
- 23:16it's a 53 man roster and if you got look at Cincinnati Bengals,
- 23:20like Joe Burrow got him championship contenders.
- 23:25Joe Joe Burrow gets hurt. Now they can't even win a game.
- 23:29You know, so it it's those type of things of being able to stay
- 23:33healthy and getting hot at the right time.
- 23:35Like it's not how you start the season.
- 23:37It's typically that third part of the season and third quarter
- 23:40of the season around game 10, game 11, who's getting hot and
- 23:44who's getting healthier towards the end of the year when the
- 23:47Giants made both of their runs at the Super Bowl, it got hot at
- 23:51the end of the year. It's not like they was 10 and
- 23:54two or you know, 13 and three at the time when they got hot.
- 23:58No, they got hot, of course, the end of their seasons and also
- 24:01they won those runs and won the Super Bowl.
- 24:04So that's the thing, man. It's just it's so crazy how the
- 24:08NFL can be from year to year. That's why I say every, every,
- 24:13any given Sunday, it's true. Any given Sunday, you can be
- 24:16beat. Now, I don't know why the Knicks
- 24:19decided to get rid of their head coach.
- 24:21You know he went to the conference championship.
- 24:23Come on now, you're going after my basketball team.
- 24:28I'm. Just saying, you know, the
- 24:29Knicks, the Knicks were down for years and all of a sudden, you
- 24:31know, they get the coach in there.
- 24:33He's hard nosed defensive guy. He makes him go hard and did
- 24:38everything. Then all of a sudden, you know,
- 24:40hey man, get out of here. I don't know man, what makes
- 24:42people happy now. First of all, Jason, Tom
- 24:45Thibodeau weighed out his welcome.
- 24:47I was one of very few people that stuck up for him.
- 24:51But the guy, he could never get a team to A championship.
- 24:54He never took Chicago to A championship.
- 24:56He had those great Timberwolves teams.
- 24:58He was AGM slash head coach couldn't get those great
- 25:02Timberwolves he had. He had talent up the kazoo and
- 25:05he couldn't get him into the he couldn't get him into the, the,
- 25:08the championship. He couldn't even get him out of
- 25:09the first round over the hour. And then he comes to the.
- 25:12Next one member guy Philadelphia.
- 25:13Then he had talent. He got MB for how many years?
- 25:16No please. And then they go out and they
- 25:18and they get guys from, you know.
- 25:20You talking about Doc Rivers? Please don't bring up Doc
- 25:23Rivers. Please don't bring up.
- 25:25The cake of the blown 3-1 lead. It's not that easy to get to the
- 25:28championship. The Knicks don't have a big man.
- 25:31They have guards that can shoot and you know, and, and the guys
- 25:35played great defense as hard as they can.
- 25:37But when you run up against these big teams that got centers
- 25:41and got six 10611 guys that shooting outside and you run up
- 25:45against the Celtics, you know, like it gets a little bit harder
- 25:49when you're playing the big guys down.
- 25:51Believe it or not, you. Don't have a big man?
- 25:54Believe it, then, the Knicks do. It have Patrick Ewing.
- 25:56They don't have Patrick Ewing. They do.
- 25:58They have Robinson, they have Karl Anthony Towns, they've got
- 26:01big men. Yeah, they got towns.
- 26:03They got they got towns. They got towns is.
- 26:06A great player. I'm a fan of towns.
- 26:08Listen, listen, I if I want to spank somebody, I'll spank them
- 26:12right on the rear ends. I'm going to tell you this right
- 26:14now. Then if there's a chance that
- 26:16Knicks have a chance to win a play, win a championship, it's
- 26:19this year. OK, they had to go with another
- 26:22route and they brought in Mike Brown.
- 26:24Mike Brown. If you look at Mike Brown's
- 26:25record as a head coach, it's one of the best in the last 15 years
- 26:29of coaching. Think about it.
- 26:31Wrong in Sacramento hit. Him wrong, they did him wrong,
- 26:34but he's kind of the same kind of coach as Thibodeau.
- 26:37The only thing different is he doesn't run these players into
- 26:40the ground like Tom Thibodeau did.
- 26:42Tom Thibodeau, ran, Jaylen Brunson, Josh Hart, all these
- 26:46guys, they couldn't stay healthy.
- 26:47OG and McHale Bridges. Please, Jason, we can go back
- 26:52and forth with this team. I am upset.
- 26:54I am turbulent. I I there's so much turbulence
- 26:58in this studio right now because as soon as you brought the
- 27:00Knicks, you went from you went from The Jets, you went to
- 27:04Florida State and now you went with the Knicks.
- 27:07What's next? What are?
- 27:08You I know I know I'm on a podcast with with New York fans
- 27:12and Florida State fan, you know, so I just want to make sure we
- 27:16get it all out. You know what I'm saying?
- 27:17Sometimes you got this stuff bottled up in your system and it
- 27:20needs to come out, you know, so. Listen, the only thing bottomed.
- 27:23Off Knicks stealing, you just told me the Knicks are going to
- 27:25the championship. If they have a chance.
- 27:28It's this. If they have a team, they this
- 27:29is the year. Do you?
- 27:30Want me to give you my take on this?
- 27:32You want me? To Jason Tatum is out for most
- 27:34of the season, so you know, the Boston is about one of their
- 27:37star players for most of the season.
- 27:40I don't know about Miami yet. Miami, you know, but Philly,
- 27:44Philly's supposed to be better. Let's see what Philly does with
- 27:47you. Stop.
- 27:48It can't be any worse than last year, but how good are they
- 27:50really? He went with Philadelphia.
- 27:53You know, but you know, we'll see.
- 27:56We'll see. You know, Milwaukee, be a little
- 27:58bit. Better now you lost your mind.
- 28:01Why? Because they brought the Giannis
- 28:02brothers there. Hey, I'm just saying people to
- 28:07show them this year. Jason, their second best player
- 28:10is an ex Nick, who is like the seventh guy off the bench from
- 28:13the Knicks when Portis They're not going anywhere.
- 28:16Giannis will be a Knick at the trade deadline.
- 28:19I'll make a bet with you. He already came out and said he
- 28:21only wants to play for the Knicks.
- 28:23If he leaves Milwaukee, the only team he wants to go to is the
- 28:25New York Knicks. Well.
- 28:27If you don't play for the Knicks, were they going to get
- 28:28rid of Anthony Towns? No.
- 28:29Well, that that's a good question.
- 28:34What I'm hearing is they would have to give up probably draft
- 28:37stock. They're going to have to give up
- 28:39either OG or McHale. They're going to have to give up
- 28:41Robertson. They're going to have to give up
- 28:42McBride and maybe somebody else in that trade with three first
- 28:46round draft picks that will get it done.
- 28:47They got to match the with with the NBA, you got to match
- 28:50salaries. So I kind of put it together.
- 28:52I looked at the salaries and I did my mathematical equation and
- 28:57I put it together for all the fans to understand.
- 29:00OG and Anobi is making $40 million a year, Robinson is
- 29:05making $12 million a year, McBride is making 3.
- 29:09When you add that all together, what does that add?
- 29:11Speedy. 4012 and five that is 57. 55 because it's three.
- 29:18He's making 3,000,000 a year. McBride.
- 29:20OK, so it's 3, So it's 53. And how much does Giannis make?
- 29:2654 and a. Half 54 1/2.
- 29:28So a little shimmy right there. Ladies and gentlemen, I just
- 29:32helped you. I'll just tell you.
- 29:34I'll just tell you though, basketball is a tough sport,
- 29:38right? Back in the day you could play
- 29:39defense. Now you know they semi play
- 29:43defense until the playoffs come. They don't play any defense.
- 29:47They don't play the other way. Look.
- 29:48To the. Playoffs you're.
- 29:50Damn right they do. You know, but Knicks fan want to
- 29:53win every game. You can't win every game, you
- 29:55know what I'm saying? It's about being healthy when
- 29:57you get to the playoffs. You know there's just a thing
- 29:58about Duke last year, right? Oh, Errol's other favorite
- 30:02coach. You did it again.
- 30:04You took my favorite college basketball team, Jason.
- 30:08Allen, That's how much he loves his coach.
- 30:10What is he doing? Auburn's my team.
- 30:12We we both go to the Final Four, right and.
- 30:15You got to hurt. Last year Cameron Indoor Stadium
- 30:18and we lost the close one to Duke and we was hoping we get
- 30:21the rematch with Duke in the playoffs.
- 30:23I mean, the final four and both of us end up losing at the end,
- 30:26but I do I Duke lost, man, I'm I'm crying for you.
- 30:30Like the way that game just kind of melted down at the end.
- 30:34Thank you. Thank you.
- 30:35Make me. You know you.
- 30:36You give me bad dreams, Jason. You went.
- 30:39Yeah. Now you Now you've made it even
- 30:41worse. You went from The Jets to the
- 30:43Florida State Seminoles to the Knicks, and now my dookies.
- 30:50What else do you want to do to me, man?
- 30:52Or you're going to go with the Yankees.
- 30:54Go ahead. Attack the Yankees Conversation.
- 30:56We're. Going to have a conversation
- 30:57about the Yankees. I'm a Yankees fan, but you know,
- 30:59I'm a Braves fan first. But then, you know, I like the
- 31:01Yankees. Too.
- 31:02All right. You know, but that's too.
- 31:04It's too soon for that one. That was too soon.
- 31:06But what are your Jets going to do though, man?
- 31:08Like what's happening? You just saw what happened in
- 31:10Tennessee. OK, you want me to tell you?
- 31:12You want me to tell you what The Jets are going to do?
- 31:14Here's what The Jets are going to do.
- 31:15Because you fans need to calm the F down.
- 31:18Because I want to. I want to smack Jet fans in the
- 31:21face. I just want maybe I should line
- 31:23them up. I get a paddle that says jets on
- 31:25it and just line them up and just paddle.
- 31:27You whack them with my freaking battle, OK?
- 31:30Because they're all idiots. All you Jet fans are morons.
- 31:33You go JET, yes, and I say it now, JETS sucks, sucks, sucks,
- 31:38but here's what the Jet this is. This is what makes me proud to
- 31:41be a Jet fan and and here's why, because I'm a realist.
- 31:45The fact is Aaron Glenn's the right guy.
- 31:48Aaron Glenn has kept his team in every single game.
- 31:51This is a first year coach that's never done it before, but
- 31:54he's done it as a player. And if you look back at the
- 31:57players that have taken over as coaches, they've been very
- 32:00successful. Go ask Todd Bowles right now
- 32:02with the Buccaneers. All right, Who was it, Jed?
- 32:05OK, that's just one. I think what that's going to
- 32:07happen to Jets. The Jets will win maybe one game
- 32:10this year, maybe one. They'll be in every single game,
- 32:13but they might win one game this year.
- 32:15They're going to get the number one pick in this year's draft
- 32:18because they have one of the easiest schedules in the league
- 32:20as far as the NFL is concerned. And they're going to draft
- 32:24Fernando Mendoza. That's where they're going to
- 32:27go. They're going to draft the
- 32:29Indianapolis, Indiana, Indiana quarterback who looks like he's
- 32:34a stud and you saw what he did last week when he went to
- 32:38Oregon. And I think he's going to
- 32:40continue what he's doing now and he's going to win the Heisman
- 32:43Trophy this year. I really believe that kid is
- 32:46going to win the Heisman Trophy. He's going to go on to the NFL
- 32:49and I think The Jets are finally going to get the quarterback
- 32:52that they've been craving for, like the ice cream cone I'm
- 32:54going to eat after this show because I'm craving for it right
- 32:58now. So that's.
- 32:59Why Aaron Rodgers came in town two years ago.
- 33:01Oh. Please.
- 33:02That's, that's all. Now you're now you're attacking
- 33:05a guy that I rooted for, for for years.
- 33:07He was my favorite quarterback. And of course, you know what,
- 33:10Jason? I, I think me and you like see
- 33:12eye to eye and our our heads. Just like we could just bang
- 33:15each other's heads together. I'm just saying there's no.
- 33:18I'm just trying to let you know that there's no quick fix.
- 33:21No, there's no quick. Fix to getting back to the
- 33:23championship now. When Rich Ryan was there, they
- 33:25went to the AFC Championship back-to-back years.
- 33:27You're selling me. You're selling.
- 33:29Me right, great defense. So you start with your defense
- 33:32first, right defense winning championships, like you don't
- 33:35have to have the home run hitter quarterback to go and win a
- 33:39championship. You just need to have the guy
- 33:41that knows how to protect the football, knows how to hit
- 33:43explosive plays. You know what I'm saying?
- 33:45Don't turn the ball over a lot and leads your football team.
- 33:49So let's go. If you look around, if you look
- 33:51around the league, Brock Purdy went to the Super Bowl year
- 33:54before. Brock Purdy is not an all world
- 33:57quarterback, you know what I'm saying?
- 33:58But you look at Jalen Hurst, Jalen Hurst doing what he doing
- 34:02getting to Super Bowls. Now Pat Mahomes is a different
- 34:05story. Pat Mahomes is a all world style
- 34:06quarterback, right? But you look at guys throughout
- 34:10the years, everyone wants to hit the home run quarterback.
- 34:14Okay, you hit the home run quarterback, but then you forget
- 34:16about the rest of your roster, you know?
- 34:18So that's the difference. Like The Jets have to just
- 34:22understand patience, patience, patience.
- 34:26Listen, I've been patient for freaking 30 years man.
- 34:31What? How much patience do you have to
- 34:33give me? I I'd rather crap in my pants
- 34:36than believe that I have to wait for another 3 or 4 years.
- 34:40Listen, if The Jets win a championship right on the show,
- 34:42I'd shit in my pants, OK? I I did never the way I'm living
- 34:47until Joe Namath is gone and may rest in peace whenever that
- 34:50happens. The Jets are never going to win.
- 34:53I'm tired, I'm lost, and I'm sold.
- 34:57All right, Jason. I like The Jets fan, man, Jets
- 35:00fan, JTJETS, man. I like The Jets, Jets, Jets,
- 35:03Jets, right, Sure you're sure about that?
- 35:04I just think. You're sure it's not JTS?
- 35:07Sucks, sucks, sucks. No, no.
- 35:09I just think it takes a little bit more patient.
- 35:11Now the question is are you going to keep Gary Wilson
- 35:17because trade dateline is coming.
- 35:18So you just said that y'all going to start to probably lose.
- 35:21A lot of games they keeping them to keep.
- 35:23Him, you know, but Gary was pretty hot.
- 35:25He was pretty hot Sunday. He's, you know, in London, you
- 35:28know, he's pretty hot in London. I thought he might stay in
- 35:31London. And
- 35:53So you becoming a jazz fan? No, no, I'm making, I'm making
- 35:57fun of the Giants. I'm making they, they, they beat
- 36:00the Eagles and they make a damn scatter Boo song.
- 36:03Please. They could beat the Cowboys
- 36:05early in the. Year they could have should have
- 36:07water, but they didn't. But guess what?
- 36:08Carolina beat the Cowboys, yes, because Mr. Dunwaddle was
- 36:12running all over them. Don't waddle whatever the hell
- 36:15he go Dowdle Cowboys legend. Don't waddle doodle, doodle,
- 36:18doodle doodle Mr. Doodle dog duty Dadia, whatever.
- 36:22Anyways, Jason, we love you, man.
- 36:25You're you're great. You're doing such a great job
- 36:27with Auburn and I I think you're a sensational personnel.
- 36:31We'd love to get you on the show again.
- 36:32And next time, Jabba will be on the show and I'm sure he'll give
- 36:36you his little riffs. Jason, next time you come up
- 36:39with Jabba on the show. Be prepared for all your fans.
- 36:42Be prepared with all your great Nebraska football attacks.
- 36:46That's true. Right now, right now I don't
- 36:47have a lot to you know, I can't really just be no Jonan on a lot
- 36:50of other folks teams. You know, my team is struggling
- 36:52a little bit right now. You know, we're three and three
- 36:55in college football and we've gotten kind of hosed a little
- 36:59bit by some referee calls, Oklahoma and Georgia game.
- 37:02But you know, at the end of the day, you still got that whole
- 37:04accountability you got to finish right.
- 37:06So we still a young football team that's still learning how
- 37:08to get back from winning. I got a winning.
- 37:10I can help you out. You know what you do?
- 37:12You reach out to the NFL and you hire the Kansas City Kansas City
- 37:15referees because they seem to get all the calls.
- 37:18Maybe you should send them. Maybe you should send them your
- 37:21way. Maybe that'll that'll help you
- 37:23out when it comes to the play calling in those games.
- 37:25I mean, watching Kansas City play, it's it's, it's a bunch of
- 37:28it's a bunch of you know, it's, it's, it's, it's Taylor Swift,
- 37:31it's the Swifties. I can't stand watching her over
- 37:35there at the press box. All right, I, I'm done.
- 37:38I don't want to get myself any in any more trouble on this
- 37:40show. But Jason, I love you.
- 37:43I'd love to get you on the show again.
- 37:45And next time we'll have Jabba. You're a Yankee fan, so you know
- 37:48who Jabba Chamberlain is, so I'm sure you'll have a lot of fun
- 37:51with him. You know, me and him go back and
- 37:53forth. If I could jump through, you
- 37:56know, my computer screen. Well, I have a big 45 inch
- 38:00screen TV. Sometimes when Job opens his
- 38:02mouth, I just want to grab him and choke him up with the hunts
- 38:05like that. But you know, Job is probably
- 38:07watching the show right now. He's like ask you world.
- 38:10We're joking my good. We're joking my Internet back.
- 38:12You're good. We did.
- 38:13Yeah. Whatever.
- 38:14Anyways, Jason, we love you. Keep up the good work and we're
- 38:18going to talk to you soon. Man, I hope you enjoyed this
- 38:19interview we did and go Auburn. Yeah, yeah, I appreciate it,
- 38:24guys. Thanks for having me on.
- 38:25And for what all is worth, I am a Knicks fan, but Golden State's
- 38:29first. You did it again.
- 38:33You did it again. Jason, ask Harold what he thinks
- 38:36about your favorite guy, Steph Curry.
- 38:38You. Did it again.
- 38:40He did it again. You know.
- 38:43He did it again. He went all over the place
- 38:46tonight and he just, he went from one team to be.
- 38:51A Steph Curry plays against his former coach Mike Brown and your
- 38:55Knicks in a championship? Never going to happen.
- 38:58Never going to happen. That would be awesome.
- 39:00They're not making to the championship.
- 39:02They don't have enough pieces. They better.
- 39:04Get the Warriors or Knicks. No, the Warriors, they don't
- 39:08have enough pieces in the in the Western Conference.
- 39:10OK, see, right now to me, and Dallas looks pretty damn good
- 39:14too. I like what?
- 39:15Dallas, we can't say. We can't say this.
- 39:17Steph Curry got hurt last year. He didn't get played the second.
- 39:20Round of series. Perry got hurt, knocked out.
- 39:23He got he was hot. The the Warriors got hot.
- 39:26You know Jimmy Buck. Let's start finding buckets.
- 39:29Jimmy Buck, You know Jimmy. Buckets got hot.
- 39:33He's got to stop playing. He's got to stop playing
- 39:35dominoes and and start shooting the buckets, OK, him and his
- 39:38domino playing. Jason, they got the Warriors got
- 39:41knocked out by Errol's other favorite player in the NBA,
- 39:43Anthony Edwards. Yes, Anyways.
- 39:49Pulled it out of my. I appreciate you guys having me
- 39:52all I know y'all live, y'all gotta get on to your next.
- 39:54Next target man, I mean we love you and we we really appreciate
- 39:58the time and keep up with the good work support.
- 40:01Everybody TuneIn to believe in my podcast, SEC State of Mind.
- 40:05I cover all we cover all SEC games.
- 40:08My Co host Taylor Davis, she's a Co host sideline reporter for
- 40:13ESPN. So we do a lot of we talk all
- 40:16SEC on SEC state of mind I believe.
- 40:20If you like to look at somebody and you're watching Taylor
- 40:22Davis, you. Know they were single.
- 40:25They were single. I told her.
- 40:26I said, hey, you know, I'll be on the hunt for you.
- 40:33I got, I got, I got to see, you see, I got to see people resume
- 40:37before I turn them into her. Don't worry, I got a resume for
- 40:39you. Jason, I love you, man.
- 40:51We got to talk off air, man. Thanks, man.
- 40:55We really appreciate you all. Right.
- 40:57Appreciate it, guys. See you. 10 year NFL vet chasing
- 41:03Campbell. He's funny, man.
- 41:11Man, what a show. I'm a little lost tonight.
- 41:16A little lost. All right, ladies and gentlemen,
- 41:20Kenny wants to talk. Let's put him through.
- 41:22Let's hear. Kenny Kenny hasn't called yet.
- 41:26We are anticipating the great goose chaser at some point.
- 41:29The geese not. Goose.
- 41:30Geese. You know, on his better days.
- 41:33It's not one, it's many geese. This man tried to run after
- 41:39geese and jump and ride one of them.
- 41:42OK, this crazy earth lunatic. OK, I mean, and then he posted
- 41:49it up on YouTube and then YouTube spotted it and they
- 41:52cancelled his his channel because of it.
- 41:56For what? Cruelty to animals.
- 41:57Cruelty to animals. That's right, Kenny is 1
- 42:04Freakazoid man, I I got to say that he's one.
- 42:08Your YouTube channel cancelled for cruelty to animals running
- 42:12after geese. It's Kenny.
- 42:14Do you like throwing anything at them or he's just chasing them?
- 42:16I have no idea, Guys. Guys are crazy.
- 42:19He's just giving his takes on The Jets to them.
- 42:24If you were to try to ask Kenny about the current Jets, he would
- 42:26probably tell tell you that Geno Smith stole the quarterback.
- 42:32I was actually at that draft in this at Radio City Music Hall in
- 42:36the second round. I was there for that and it at
- 42:39we were in the, if you remember back in the day, they had the
- 42:42mezzanine and if you look like if you saw it, it was a party in
- 42:46that mezzanine. It was all you can drink for
- 42:48free. If you got tickets to that
- 42:50mezzanine and like they gave you food too.
- 42:52It's like all you could eat, all you could drink is and they gave
- 42:54you like an earpiece to the broadcast.
- 42:57And we're just making chance doing the wave, going at, like,
- 43:01yelling stuff at Mel Kiper, yelling stuff at Rich Eyes and
- 43:04Rich Eyes. And we get up in the middle of
- 43:05the commercial breaks and, like, shout out everybody.
- 43:08But it was a lot of fun. And when Gino got drafted, what
- 43:11do you think that the sound in the room was?
- 43:13They went crazy. It was laughter because his his
- 43:19season, you remember that season, they started off like
- 43:22they were like one of the top teams in the league with Rich
- 43:24Rod and then they lost like six games in a row or something like
- 43:27that. Thank you.
- 43:28All right, let's let's move on. All right, Fishes Play of the
- 43:31week. This is great about sports.
- 43:32You play to win the game. Hello.
- 43:35You play to win the game. Fishes play of the wing.
- 43:40Wing. All right, guys.
- 43:44Welcome back to Fish's Play of the Week.
- 43:46I got the Play of the Week here for you.
- 43:49Breaking it down not just as the most explosive play, but the
- 43:53best X's and O's that I saw of the week.
- 43:56I mean, there may have been a couple of plays that were better
- 43:58with X's and O's, but this play was the most impactful of the
- 44:02week. We already talked about it.
- 44:04You can see the line. This is Bijan Robinson taking
- 44:07this ball 80 plus yards to the house.
- 44:10That's the first guy that touches him to safety half the
- 44:13way down the field. One of the easier touchdowns
- 44:17he's ever going to score. Take a look at the front of the
- 44:19line over here. And they have this kind of
- 44:22scheme where I don't think they, honestly, they don't draw it up
- 44:26very well at all. That telestrator, he doesn't
- 44:29know what he's looking at. He drew the different kind of
- 44:31scheme. It's his own play.
- 44:33And I want to show you why this play is the play of the week.
- 44:36Take a look at the linebackers at the start of this play.
- 44:39We have a tight end wing situation or actually just a
- 44:41tight end off the ball situation on the far side of the field.
- 44:45He's going to go in motion. When he goes in motion, it's
- 44:47going to trigger this defensive alignment to go from a four man
- 44:51front to A5 man front with only one linebacker in position to
- 44:55stop the run. Take a look at it right there.
- 44:58And that's how it switches. Now you're going to have what we
- 45:00call A51 box right here in the run game, except this is exactly
- 45:05what the coach of the Falcons knows.
- 45:07This is why he's calling this motion because he knows he wants
- 45:10to run a zone playback at it. He doesn't have to block the
- 45:13edge because they know they're not rushing him.
- 45:15They've got it scouted, so now they have them outnumbered to
- 45:19the run side of the play. Take a look at it right there.
- 45:23He doesn't get touched in that crease at all.
- 45:27That is an incredible job blocking.
- 45:29I really like this other angle of it as well, not because of
- 45:33the drawings of the guy on the screen, because these I don't
- 45:35think are correct. That's not where I'm impressed.
- 45:38I am impressed with this ace block right here, this double
- 45:41team between the center and that's Chris Lidstrom, the best
- 45:44guard in football. They're going to combo up to
- 45:47that linebacker and at that point, there's nothing this team
- 45:50can do about it when they motion.
- 45:52So there's that one linebacker they combo up to and it's done
- 45:56right there. In fact, I can go get a little
- 45:58bit of frame back. That hole is pretty big for the
- 46:01NFL. He is off to the races, doesn't
- 46:04get touched when you get don't get touched till the speedy that
- 46:08far down the field. Speedy when you find holes.
- 46:09Play of the Week. Speedy, when you find holes, do
- 46:12you you know how to run through them?
- 46:14You don't know how to run through holes, No.
- 46:17So what do you do most? Of the holes I go through, I
- 46:20don't need to run. Well, how do you do it then?
- 46:28Specify a type of hole. Well, what specify a type of
- 46:31hole? Give me a hole.
- 46:32Do you like the dark ones? What do you like?
- 46:35Give me a hole. So a circular bit of air without
- 46:41any other context is dark. Yeah, well, so you like dark
- 46:44holes? How do you know it's dark
- 46:47without context? So which hole do you like?
- 46:50Give me a type. You're not specifying anything.
- 46:56All right, we call this Speedy 6 pack.
- 46:59Let's have a sixer. Hey, who wants to play?
- 47:02Drink the beer? It's time for the Speedy 6 Pack
- 47:05of the Week. I might need six shots to
- 47:10evaluate his theory on holes at this point.
- 47:15I need a dinner tonic. Yeah, I might need that too.
- 47:19And much more. I'm young, busy all day today.
- 47:24Glory hole all. Right, unfortunately, Let's try
- 47:28my guys. It doesn't look like they're
- 47:29going to be able to make it tonight.
- 47:30Congratulations to Johnny. He's actually celebrating A
- 47:31promotion tonight. He might send some pics, but
- 47:34he's not going to be able to make it tonight.
- 47:35An hour. Question.
- 47:36What is promoted? I am not sure, but I will find
- 47:38out another time. But he's celebrating out
- 47:40tonight. But he's going to send some pics
- 47:41another time and Wes is dealing with his pick, his picks.
- 47:44So no, none of them tonight. So it'll be just us.
- 47:47We will start tonight with the the Eagles covering -1 1/2
- 47:52against their favor by 1 1/2. I should say against the
- 47:55Minnesota Vikings. Pretty much a pick em game in
- 47:57Minnesota. I mean, no, I'm just saying the
- 48:01spread pretty much a pick em game.
- 48:02I Vikings come off a bye week defensive identity right now.
- 48:06I agree with what you were saying before.
- 48:07Errol Kind of a question with how well with McCarthy playing.
- 48:11Addison obviously just coming back.
- 48:12He's playing well. The Eagles, when's the get right
- 48:15situation going to come for them?
- 48:17They have a long week to prepare against the Giants.
- 48:19I think this is a tight, low scoring game, but I think the
- 48:21Eagles do win it on the road. It's a good defense over there
- 48:26in Minnesota and if I'm not mistaken, they have a quite a
- 48:30good defensive coach over there. Who is he again?
- 48:33The guy that doesn't get any job offers from anybody in the NFL
- 48:36because he sued the NFL? Ryan Flores.
- 48:41Ryan Flores, there we go. I.
- 48:45Watched a clip of him doing some kind so you know how like teams
- 48:49will show 1 defensive look and then before the play they'll
- 48:53shift into a second one? They've been doing that for
- 48:55years right? Dating back to Peyton Manning
- 48:57reading them so they couldn't do it.
- 48:59He did the hurry up so the teams couldn't do that to him.
- 49:02Brian Flores is switching the defense like 3 times before the
- 49:05snap and it is making it almost impossible for these, especially
- 49:09young quarterbacks to have any clue how to face them.
- 49:12That being said, I don't know if he can get in Jalen Hurts his
- 49:15head that way. I think the Eagles are kind of
- 49:18going to get some revenge after this embarrassment to the Giants
- 49:22getting doubled up on Thursday Night Football.
- 49:25I'm going to take the Eagles this week.
- 49:28Speedy's mom. All right.
- 49:32I got the Eagles. I think the Eagles win flat out
- 49:36after losing 2 Game 2 two games in a row and and falling off.
- 49:40I, I, I cannot see the Eagles losing 3.
- 49:42Last year they lost three in a row and then they went on a bye
- 49:45week and then they barely lost. But I, I think this is the last
- 49:49losing streak you see the Eagles have.
- 49:51I think the Eagles win this week.
- 49:52Saquon Barkley gets over 100 yards, 2 touchdowns bucket.
- 49:56All right, we'll go to the one big spread.
- 49:57I did mention the Raiders are plus 13 against the Chiefs.
- 50:01Chiefs 13 point favorites at home.
- 50:03I think the Raiders actually do cover this spread.
- 50:05I was talking about it during the whip around.
- 50:06Their defenses actually played pretty well.
- 50:07They played well against the Chargers.
- 50:08They played well against the Patriots in Week 1, which we've
- 50:10seen how well that Patriots offense has played since then.
- 50:13I think they do end up covering this spread.
- 50:15Like I picked with Michael Mayer for savior tears.
- 50:17The Chiefs have struggled against tight ends, they
- 50:18struggle against the run. So I think the Raiders do keep
- 50:20it close for a while, but I think the Chiefs win by like 8
- 50:23to 10 points, but I think the Raiders cover.
- 50:26There's two ways this game goes. One way is it becomes the last
- 50:30possession game and the Chiefs win because of the referees,
- 50:32because that's how one option every single week for the
- 50:36Chiefs. But the more likely option in my
- 50:38opinion, is that the Chiefs are just a hot team right now coming
- 50:43into this game and the Raiders are not very good.
- 50:47I think that it's going to be a little too much.
- 50:48Mahomes can beat even good defenses.
- 50:51I think this is an average defense with a really bad
- 50:53offense and they're going to rely on the run.
- 50:55If they can't stay close, how can you run the football?
- 50:59And I think this is a team that's not going to be able to
- 51:01be good playing from behind that all this season.
- 51:04They look for the Chiefs to go up early, maybe some trick plays
- 51:07in the first half to try to get an early lead and just wear on
- 51:11them so they can't do what they want to do and make them throw
- 51:13too much. And have Gino continue his
- 51:16league leading interceptions streak.
- 51:19Give me that chicken Curry, All right, Ladies and gentlemen, I
- 51:23am going to go with the Kansas City Chiefs.
- 51:26I, I, there's no way the, the Raiders beat the Chiefs this
- 51:30week. As much as I want to see Jetty,
- 51:32and I think Jetty will have a good game.
- 51:33He'll have 80 yards. He'll have probably a touchdown
- 51:37or two. I, I just don't think they're
- 51:39going to beat the Kansas City Chiefs.
- 51:40Give me the Chiefs. All right, two of Errol's
- 51:43favorite teams, the Indianapolis Colts led by Danny Dimes against
- 51:47the LA Chargers. Chargers 1 1/2 point game.
- 51:51Yes, this is going to be a good game.
- 51:52I think this game, the Colts defense, like I mentioned in the
- 51:55WHIP Round 2 has been underrated for a while.
- 51:56Chargers offensive line has a lot of has had a lot of trouble
- 51:59and especially in the interior. Colts have a really underrated
- 52:01interior defensive duo with Deforest Buckner and Grover
- 52:03Stewart. I think the Chargers are going
- 52:05to be 1 dimensional on offense and I think after Ladd, Mcconkey
- 52:08had a big week last week. I think that.
- 52:10Shot him down. I think the Colts win a tight.
- 52:14Yeah, I they don't get Joel back yet.
- 52:17So I I really don't like the line.
- 52:20It's a good defense. That cold defense is good in
- 52:23that offense under Danny Dimes isn't making that many mistakes.
- 52:28Anyone look? He's streaky throwing the ball,
- 52:32but they don't let it make him do too much at times.
- 52:35It's really a Jonathan Taylor show.
- 52:36I expect them to wear on them. Give me the Colts.
- 52:39I think they win this game by a touchdown or so.
- 52:45I got the Colts, absolutely. Colts I, everybody knows where
- 52:49I'm going. It's dime time.
- 52:51That's what that's what we're going to call it now.
- 52:53Dime time, dime time. Danny Dimes got the Colts.
- 52:58All right, let's go to Danny Dimes's former team, the New
- 53:01York Giants facing off against you, a team that Danny Dimes
- 53:04beat earlier in the year in the Denver Broncos.
- 53:07The Broncos are 7 1/2 point favorites at home.
- 53:10I think the Broncos, they've been one of those team that's
- 53:11been pretty steadily in games. I know they didn't look great
- 53:14last week, but I they've been close and everything.
- 53:17I think this is a good time for them to show out better
- 53:19offensively. The Giants secondary, they were
- 53:23good last week. Finally, can they do it again?
- 53:24I don't know. I think the Sean Payton can Sean
- 53:27Payton's offenses have always done well to lose against the
- 53:30giant style of defenses. I look delicious.
- 53:33I think Denver does cover the spread of when.
- 53:34They watch how I eat my straight cheezing.
- 53:37That's a great defense over there in Denver.
- 53:39They scary. Scrap.
- 53:40You love nuts. But who's stopping scat?
- 53:46Who's stopping scataboo? Scataboo.
- 53:50Every guy, Nick and you know who might win Defensive Player of
- 53:52the Year. I don't want to hear it.
- 53:54He just launched Zac Bond last year last week into the air
- 53:58multiple times, gets dusted. Jackson Dart puts a move on him,
- 54:03gets into the end zone. He can beat some of the best.
- 54:07But I can't take the Giants in this game.
- 54:09I it's the interesting spread though. 7 1/2 points.
- 54:13Can the Giants keep it? A1 possession game?
- 54:17No, No, I don't think they do. I think they lose by 10.
- 54:21Give me the Broncos. Oh, the Broncos are going to win
- 54:23this game. It's not even going to be close.
- 54:25They're going to smash the scat, the Boo Boo, scat a Boo Boo.
- 54:30I give me the give me the Bronx all.
- 54:32Right. By the way, before we get to our
- 54:33next game, I do have to get to Jabba's hypothetical coin flip
- 54:38here. So Jabba does have the Eagles in
- 54:39the first game. Oh.
- 54:41He's doing it. I'm doing Jabba's hypothetical
- 54:44coin flip, so. We're just picking for Jabba in
- 54:46the same way he would pick, I think.
- 54:49We'll. Do pin the tail on the donkey
- 54:50for something later. So he's got tails in both games
- 54:53so far. He's always got the Eagles and
- 54:54then he's got the Raiders covering Colts and Chargers.
- 54:59He's got the Chargers and with this Giants, Broncos game to
- 55:03round it out, he's got tails. So he's got he's got the Giants
- 55:09covering. Smart man.
- 55:12All right, so we'll do the Packers 6 1/2 point favorites at
- 55:16the Cardinals. I actually think the Cardinals
- 55:19cover this spread because their defense has played very well.
- 55:21The Packers offensive line of mention has given trouble.
- 55:23We talked about Errol earlier in the segment.
- 55:25The Packers quality of play this year really has not been great.
- 55:28Arizona might not be without Marvin Harrison Junior, but
- 55:30we've seen them do well, try to patch the injuries together at
- 55:33certain points. So I do think with the Packers
- 55:35defense that is struggling, I think Arizona can keep it close
- 55:38and their defense has still kept them in game.
- 55:40I think Green Bay wins the game, but I do think Arizona covers.
- 55:44Are we getting the Brissette again or is it Kyler Murray
- 55:47back? Want so does a bit.
- 55:48It looks like it looks like Kyler Murray hasn't practiced
- 55:51yet, but I don't think there's any.
- 55:52Decorations. He tastes himself well.
- 55:55I think the Cardinals will just kind of hope Kyler Murray keeps
- 55:58playing some more Call of Duty and misses this much pain
- 56:01because they look better without him than they looked with him
- 56:04all year last week. But Jacoby Brissette, I think,
- 56:07is going to keep that game close.
- 56:09If he always gave up the booty. I don't know.
- 56:12I think they're going to go with Brissette, give me the Cardinals
- 56:14to keep it close. I still think this is one of
- 56:16those games where another toe job, but the Packers are going
- 56:20to win. I think it's going to be like a
- 56:21three or four point game, like the streaks in my britches.
- 56:28I got the Packers. I got the Packers.
- 56:31All right, so the coin Java. As long as she's using.
- 56:37The wheel I can take care. Of Java's got, Java's got
- 56:39Arizona covering this one all right.
- 56:41We'll round it out with. The Java Wheel.
- 56:43Yep, and Monday, Monday night, the Buccaneers are at the Lions.
- 56:46The Lions are 5 1/2 points. Favors.
- 56:49I am not taking that spread for the Lions.
- 56:51Let's see, that's been banged up.
- 56:52Tampa's got AI mean. Their offensive line is banged
- 56:54up too. They still have a pretty good
- 56:56offensive line. It's in Detroit.
- 56:57It's in Detroit. Detroit's defensive line
- 57:00obviously has to just play very well, but the rest of it's still
- 57:02kind of finding their groove here.
- 57:04Tampa can stop the run. They've been notoriously great
- 57:07to stop in the run for a while. So I do think the Lions win this
- 57:10game, but it's going to be very close.
- 57:11I'm taking Tampa to cover the spread.
- 57:14I think Sterling Shepherd is the number one receiver for the
- 57:18Tampa Bay this game if I'm not mistaken.
- 57:22It's it's looking real hairy over there at receiver.
- 57:26I don't know Bucky Irving's playing either.
- 57:28They are really depleted. That being said, who's doubting
- 57:33Baker Mayfield right now? I'm not me.
- 57:37I think they can still win this game.
- 57:38So you'd give me that many points, I'm taking the Bucks.
- 57:43I'd take a shit. Does he listen to his picks
- 57:47while he's taking a shit? That's the real question.
- 57:49I'm I'm going with the Detroit Lions.
- 57:52There's no way they lose, lose another one.
- 57:54I, I, I don't I don't think they're going to be able to run
- 57:56the ball as much, but I expect them I expect St.
- 58:00Brown to have a big game. I think that this team at home,
- 58:03the fans are going to be loud. I think they're going to be able
- 58:06to beat Baker Mayfield and those.
- 58:08What about skid mark, those skid marks so.
- 58:11And Java took the bucks to cover.
- 58:14That's red 5 1/2. That one over like a Fardon
- 58:17church, like a. Serial killer, like a serial
- 58:22killer. All right, that is our picks or
- 58:25Speedy's Picks of the week. By the way, who's in the lead?
- 58:27Here it is still you at the moment.
- 58:29I fish and I both had the biggest weeks, but it's still

- 1:00:13always at the end. I walked up to him and I said,
- 1:00:16he's tall Manny. I didn't know how tall this kid
- 1:00:18was. He's like 6364.
- 1:00:21I walk up to him and I'm like, I'm wearing glasses and a hat.
- 1:00:23And I was like, I know you do you know me?
- 1:00:25And he looked at me and he's like, no, I don't know you.
- 1:00:27And I took my hat off. I said, he's like, oh, I know
- 1:00:30you, you work with Jabba. So we started talking and, you
- 1:00:35know, we, we hit it off and such a nice guy.
- 1:00:38Manny is a very, very nice guy and he's doing a lot of things
- 1:00:41right now. He does college basketball, he
- 1:00:44does college baseball and he's the Yankees.

- 1:00:51he's doing a lot of things and he really likes us and he likes

- 1:01:11Couldn't stand so I thought like every other Bills and Patriots
- 1:01:14players, will probably take some jabs.
- 1:01:15Oh, I'm definitely going to take some jabs, but you know, I'll
- 1:01:18have fun with Rob. By the way, I was like a week
- 1:01:21away from meeting Rob Minkovich and doing a live show at Sal's
- 1:01:25Place in Foxwoods at the, you know, in the Tanger outlets.
- 1:01:29He was signing autographs there. And it's a funny story.
