- 0:28Good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:30So today we're talking about questions, and I've talked about
- 0:34questions, many times on here, the power of questions and
- 0:37whatnot. But I would love for you guys to
- 0:40do a little experiment for yourself and figure out what are
- 0:44the questions you're asking yourself throughout the day.
- 0:48So just as kind of, like a debrief and a little exercise to
- 0:51start asking yourself. Well, what questions am I asking
- 0:55myself throughout the day? I've been doing lots of little
- 0:58experiments with clients with this.
- 1:00The answers are really fascinating like you know, just
- 1:04in general, what people are finding is that the questions
- 1:07are asking themselves, tend to be something that is not
- 1:11necessarily the healthiest way to start off your day and really
- 1:15focused towards the heavy negative side.
- 1:20So, you know, everything in your brain, everything that we do, as
- 1:24humans is driven by that question format.
- 1:28You know, we ask questions were always asking, Questions and how
- 1:31quickly you can change direction is by the quality of the
- 1:34questions. You ask yourself.
- 1:36So we all understand on some level that questions are very
- 1:40important, but I don't know that we all check-in enough as to
- 1:44what the questions are that were asking ourselves and these are
- 1:48the ones that you maybe don't say out loud.
- 1:50These are the ones. I mean, some people talk to
- 1:52themselves which is totally fine.
- 1:53I'm one of those people were, I do talk to myself sometimes, but
- 1:57I'm talking about the ones that are quiet behind the Is like the
- 2:02the constant chatter which comes in in the question form when you
- 2:08are in situations that, you know, are going to drive you
- 2:11crazy. So, let's use an example here in
- 2:15your kitchen. It's after dinner.
- 2:17And you find that you are the person that's standing there and
- 2:21cleaning things up and nobody else is helping the question
- 2:25that's running off in your head, is why the hell isn't anybody
- 2:27else? Helping me?
- 2:28Why am I the only one doing this?
- 2:29Why am I the only The only one that always does this and you
- 2:33can feel the level of frustration going up up, up up
- 2:36up, as you ask the questions because they're getting more and
- 2:39more stacked in the - frame. And this is where it's so
- 2:43important to kind of hone in and say, wait, what's a better
- 2:46question to ask? You myself in this moment.
- 2:49So a better question might be. What's the reason I'm not asking
- 2:51anybody to help and oftentimes just changing that your brain is
- 2:56going to go. Well, I don't know why am I not
- 2:58asking anybody help? You might get an answer.
- 3:00Like what? They're not going to help but
- 3:01that's not necessarily. True.
- 3:03That could be a made-up perspective.
- 3:05So you have to ask, you know, hey, who over here would like to
- 3:09help me clean this up and they might laugh and say, well I
- 3:12don't wouldn't like to help you but I will help you.
- 3:15And then you have your help instead of getting all ramped
- 3:17up. But that example, I'm using of
- 3:20how those questions stack and how they feed your dysfunction.
- 3:24Think about that, how they feed your dysfunction because it
- 3:28starts off and it could already be a Hot spot and you're just
- 3:33putting more effort into making it a hotter spot until it's
- 3:36boiling. And before you know it you're
- 3:38burning yourself. So the questions you look at are
- 3:42the ones that are quiet. They're the ones that are the
- 3:44behind-the-scene ones that you might 99.9% of the time are not
- 3:50even conscious of asking them. So, a lot of them are tricky.
- 3:55They come in under time like oh, oh, oh my gosh, am I going to
- 3:59have enough time? Going to have enough time.
- 4:01You start thinking to yourself that you're running around.
- 4:03Like I'm late. I'm late for a very important
- 4:05date and it's just constantly predicated on the fact that the
- 4:10initial questions were dysfunctional to begin with.
- 4:14So I'm going to challenge you guys to do some debriefing.
- 4:18Ask yourself, what are these hidden questions, really?
- 4:21Really, look at it and say, I'm going to actually write these
- 4:25down, so I can be aware of them and you'll hear it.
- 4:29It'll be all about. Out the people around you.
- 4:31Why isn't this person doing it? Why is this left to me?
- 4:34Why is there so much laundry? Why does nobody fold it?
- 4:37Why don't they put this away? Why is there so much traffic?
- 4:41Oh my God. There's already traffic yyyyy.
- 4:44A lot of these questions will start with the word.
- 4:47Why? And that is a very, very, very
- 4:51toxic word. I work really hard in my world,
- 4:56to not ask why questions? Because they just tend to be big
- 5:00trouble. Triggers.
- 5:01So it's a clue. It's a great little thing for
- 5:04you to keep in mind on your path.
- 5:06Look at it that way and you will probably be better off looking
- 5:10for the wise. So I hope you guys have a good
- 5:13time looking for this stuff. I hope you dig deep.
- 5:16Pull it on out, and I will see you tomorrow morning and I hope
- 5:20you have a blessed day. Bye.
