- 1:47fruit, whatever it is, feel free to get
- 1:48that and come on back to the show.
- 1:52All right, okay, yeah, we got a lot
- 1:55here today to basically unpack, and I think
- 1:59you guys are going to really appreciate tonight's
- 2:03show.
- 2:03Oh, by the way, I am John C.
- 2:06Morley, I'm a serial entrepreneur, an engineer, a
- 2:08marketing specialist, video producer, podcast host, coach, keynote
- 2:11speaker, graduate student, and a passionate lifelong learner.
- 2:16And the world rewards the quietly strong, not
- 2:20the loudly powerful.
- 2:21That's what our whole master topic for the
- 2:23week is.
- 2:26And the power of being unseen, underrated, and
- 2:31unbothered, right?
- 2:32We talked about that.
- 2:32So the granular topic for tonight, Tuesday, is
- 2:38the Invisible Phase builds winners.
- 2:41It's season five, basically show six and episode
- 2:48number four.
- 2:48Now, most people quit during the Invisible Phase,
- 2:52not because they lack talent, but because they
- 2:55crave recognition too early in the game.
- 2:57And I think a lot of people want
- 2:59to get recognition, but we have to do
- 3:00something first to get recognition.
- 3:02So this episode is all about the part
- 3:04of growth no one really celebrates, the quiet,
- 3:07the lonely, the disciplined season that actually creates
- 3:10winners.
- 3:11If you feel unseen right now, this message
- 3:13is definitely for you.
- 3:15Are you ready for point number one?
- 3:16I know you are.
- 3:17Number one is growth happens unseen.
- 3:20This is where real progress forms long before
- 3:24results are visible to the outside world.
- 3:28Preparation is lonely, guys, number two.
- 3:30And this is where real progress forms long
- 3:35before results are visible to the outside world.
- 3:39And I think that's something that a lot
- 3:40of people, like, they don't understand that necessarily.
- 3:43And it's important to realize that, okay?
- 3:46And so when we can know that, we
- 3:49can understand that there is so much more
- 3:51in our life, all right?
- 3:52Number three, guys, invisible reps matter.
- 3:57This is where real progress forms long before
- 4:00results are visible to the outside world, as
- 4:02I was saying.
- 4:03And I'm saying that, again, because I want
- 4:04it to hit home to you.
- 4:06I want you to know, because a lot
- 4:08of people just said, let's go to the
- 4:08other hand.
- 4:09I'm like, oh, so I want to say
- 4:10it again so you guys understand it.
- 4:11Number four, quiet effort compounds.
- 4:14Yes, it does, just like money does in
- 4:15the bank.
- 4:16This is where real progress forms long before
- 4:18results are visible, again, to the outside world.
- 4:22So number five, nobody claps early.
- 4:24And this is where real progress forms long
- 4:28before results are visible to the outside world.
- 4:31You get my point?
- 4:32So sometimes people want everything now.
- 4:35They want to just jump in.
- 4:37But that doesn't always do, like, the right
- 4:40thing.
- 4:40It sets us up for, I'm going to
- 4:42say failure, because, well, we're not where we
- 4:45need to be, okay?
- 4:48Number six, guys, number six is hidden work
- 4:51builds skill.
- 4:52And again, this is where real progress forms
- 4:55long before results are visible to the outside
- 4:58world.
- 5:00Hidden work builds those skills.
- 5:02It shapes your talent.
- 5:04And when we could shape our talent, we
- 5:06could say, oh, wait a minute.
- 5:07This makes sense.
- 5:08I get it now.
- 5:09I understand this, okay?
- 5:11That's a very, very important thing to understand,
- 5:15okay?
- 5:16But a lot of people miss that whole
- 5:17point.
- 5:18Can I have another sip of hot cocoa?
- 5:19This is really good.
- 5:22Really good, delicious hot cocoa.
- 5:25So number seven, silence sharpens discipline.
- 5:29And again, this is where progress forms long
- 5:31before results are visible to the outside world.
- 5:33So silence.
- 5:38Silence is actually acting.
- 5:40When we say acting, I mean that silence
- 5:42is acting.
- 5:43So if you say something, you're acting in
- 5:46it, and you're taking an action.
- 5:47And if you don't say something, you're also
- 5:49acting.
- 5:50Hmm.
- 5:51That's a very important thing to understand, okay?
- 5:57It's important to understand because people don't necessarily
- 6:01get the point, right?
- 6:05They get what they think, but they don't
- 6:07necessarily get the point.
- 6:08I think that's a very important thing to
- 6:12realize, that we have to be cognizant of
- 6:16the points that we have.
- 6:18And how we choose to handle them, okay?
- 6:23How we choose to handle them.
- 6:24That's a very important thing.
- 6:28All right.
- 6:28So now that we understand that a little
- 6:30more, let's dive in and talk about invisible
- 6:34seasons.
- 6:35Because what they do is they refine our
- 6:38identity.
- 6:39Invisible is what the world doesn't see.
- 6:43But it's what you have so much power
- 6:45over, guys.
- 6:47So much power.
- 6:49And that power causes us to, well, become
- 6:55something even better.
- 6:57Something that we didn't even know existed, but
- 7:00we can become better.
- 7:02All right.
- 7:03Number eight, guys.
- 7:05When we think about invisible seasons, we have
- 7:11to understand that it's where, again, the real
- 7:14progress forms.
- 7:16Before visible to the outside world.
- 7:17I mean, a lot of times people do,
- 7:18they're like, wait a minute, this isn't clear.
- 7:21And again, just because you're not seeing tangible
- 7:23results outside, doesn't mean it's not doing anything.
- 7:26Okay.
- 7:27That's a very, very important thing that a
- 7:31lot of people, you know, they don't necessarily
- 7:33understand.
- 7:34But it is key for our success.
- 7:38All right.
- 7:38It's definitely key for our success.
- 7:40And that success can go pretty well.
- 7:43Um, it's not about something you do one
- 7:51day.
- 7:52All right.
- 7:53It's about something you do because of your
- 7:58core mission.
- 7:59Yeah, because of your core mission.
- 8:02I think that's a very important one to
- 8:05think about.
- 8:06Your core mission and how that slowly evolves
- 8:10and morphs to get you to become that
- 8:13special person.
- 8:14It gets you to become that better person.
- 8:19Number nine, guys, quiet grind builds edge.
- 8:25And the quiet grind, the one that you
- 8:27don't complain about, the one that you do
- 8:29day in and day out, is what gets
- 8:31other people interested in what you're doing.
- 8:35It gets curious, uh, let's say fired up.
- 8:38And again, guys, this is where real progress
- 8:41forms long before results are visible in the
- 8:44outside world.
- 8:46Okay.
- 8:46I think that's an important thing to definitely
- 8:49understand.
- 8:49We want results, but sometimes we think that
- 8:54the way we get results is by getting
- 8:55everybody's attention, but that's not how we get
- 8:57results.
- 8:58That's how we get attention, but it really
- 9:02doesn't do anything for us.
- 9:04Okay.
- 9:07Um, that's a very, uh, important thing to,
- 9:10to understand.
- 9:14And, you know, I think sometimes people get
- 9:21a little jealous, um, because, you know, they
- 9:26see somebody else doing something and then they
- 9:27can't do it.
- 9:28So they're like, oh, wow, what am I
- 9:29going to do?
- 9:30And it's all about how you can react,
- 9:34right?
- 9:35Because I said, not reacting is still reacting.
- 9:37That's something really important to understand.
- 9:41Number 10, guys, preparation beats performance.
- 9:45I've said this before, whether we're talking about
- 9:47preparing to make sure you're safe in a
- 9:49fire or something else, being proactive is better
- 9:54than being reactive because when we're proactive, we
- 9:57are calm.
- 10:00Our mind is able to see things that
- 10:03a stressed mind can't.
- 10:06You'll just miss so many opportunities.
- 10:11So when we know that, and we know
- 10:13that preparation works, my question is why the
- 10:16heck don't we do it?
- 10:20Yeah.
- 10:20Why don't we do it?
- 10:25Why?
- 10:30Why don't we do it?
- 10:36I think it comes down to the fact
- 10:37that we don't necessarily understand what we're doing
- 10:41and we push forward if we think somebody's
- 10:45watching, but that's not the right way to
- 10:47do this guys.
- 10:49Preparation should be done day in and day
- 10:51out.
- 10:51Not just when it's easy.
- 10:55Preparation is sometimes hard.
- 10:57Whether we're talking about for school or studies
- 10:59or relations, there's preparation.
- 11:01And when I say hidden effort last, this
- 11:04is the stuff that people don't see you
- 11:06doing.
- 11:07It's the stuff that causes things to be
- 11:10different, but people don't directly see what you're
- 11:12doing.
- 11:14And guys, this is where real progress forms
- 11:17long before results are visible to the outside
- 11:20world.
- 11:23I think the reason it's important to know
- 11:26hidden is hidden can do a lot of
- 11:28things.
- 11:30Okay?
- 11:31It can do a lot of things.
- 11:35And the things that it can do is
- 11:37get us to have a new perspective of
- 11:39life.
- 11:44It lets us have a new perspective in
- 11:47our life.
- 11:48This doesn't affect me, but if you say
- 11:52that, that's even more the reason that it
- 11:55does affect you.
- 11:56Because denial is something people come out with
- 12:02when something does actually not hit them correctly.
- 12:06And it looks like our system here, it
- 12:09looks like we're having...
- 12:11Oh, looks like we're back.
- 12:12We've been getting lots of unstable internet at
- 12:15night.
- 12:16I'm hoping that everything is back now.
- 12:18Optimum just, it just literally sucks.
- 12:21I mean, they just, they suck so, so
- 12:23bad.
- 12:24I mean, we've dropped so many times now.
- 12:27I'm hoping we don't lose the connection.
- 12:29I mean, like, why Optim has to do
- 12:32this stupid work in the middle of the
- 12:33night?
- 12:34This is a very, very big problem, guys,
- 12:37that we can have internet so bad.
- 12:40I just can't get over how the government
- 12:42allows this to happen.
- 12:44Time in and time out.
- 12:48And it's definitely a very, very big problem.
- 12:53A problem that many people just do whatever
- 12:56they want.
- 12:56It looks like we're back, but all that
- 12:58in between is all because we have a
- 13:00bunch of BS people running our internet services.
- 13:04LT sucks.
- 13:06And having the French, I don't want to
- 13:08be starting here, but having the French own
- 13:12our utilities, that's just really, really, really bad.
- 13:15I mean, there's no excuse for why internet
- 13:17should be, like, poor at 11 o'clock
- 13:19at night.
- 13:19Like, these people just, like, don't have brains.
- 13:22You know, you don't do maintenance at 11
- 13:23o'clock at night if people are working.
- 13:25You do it at 3 o'clock or
- 13:264 in the morning, but they're too stupid
- 13:27to figure that out.
- 13:28We should never allow another country, whether it's
- 13:31France or another country, to be able to
- 13:32own our utilities, and we should be able
- 13:34to own theirs.
- 13:36We were kind of in and out of
- 13:37there for, like, a good minute, and that
- 13:38was just terrible.
- 13:39We had that little lag.
- 13:42Hidden effort last, guys.
- 13:43This is where progress forms, and long results
- 13:45are visible, well, basically not right away to
- 13:49the outside world, but it does eventually happen,
- 13:52okay?
- 13:54And maybe you're saying to me, John, like,
- 13:56you know, sometimes I just get lost, right?
- 14:01Sometimes I get lost, and the lost part
- 14:07comes in different places.
- 14:09It comes in, maybe I'm confused.
- 14:11It comes in, I don't know what to
- 14:12say, but, you know, the fact of, you
- 14:18know, people ask me this question, why does
- 14:20Altice go down for, you know, a minute?
- 14:25Every night.
- 14:27Why?
- 14:31They reset at 3.40 a.m., I
- 14:32get that, but why are they going down
- 14:34in the nighttime, right?
- 14:38And it's not your equipment.
- 14:39It's not my equipment.
- 14:41But unfortunately, guys, we're at the mercy of
- 14:43this.
- 14:44This is what happens.
- 14:45Number 12, guys, invisible work builds confidence, and
- 14:49this is where real progress forms, long before
- 14:52results are visible to the outside world.
- 14:55Number 13, patience creates leverage.
- 14:58This is where real progress forms, long before
- 15:01results are visible to the outside world.
- 15:02So patience creates leverage, all right?
- 15:09And you might say to me, John, I
- 15:11don't quite understand that.
- 15:14Patience means that you're not trying to push
- 15:17somebody.
- 15:19You're trying to get to know them for
- 15:21their value, not your agenda, right?
- 15:25This happens a lot in relationships.
- 15:28People say they want one thing, and then
- 15:30you find out that they're just trying to
- 15:32manipulate you to get what they want and
- 15:35not really what you want, which is a
- 15:37relationship.
- 15:38Number 14, guys, quiet progress avoids burnout, and
- 15:43this is where real progress forms, long before
- 15:45results are visible to the outside world.
- 15:47Quiet progress, quiet progress doesn't get tired.
- 15:51Quiet progress doesn't make mistakes.
- 15:57It has purpose, and that purpose is something
- 16:02that I think is priceless.
- 16:05Definitely, definitely, definitely priceless.
- 16:08Number 15, guys, early obscurity protects focus.
- 16:14Early obscurity protects focus, and this is where
- 16:16progress forms, long before results are visible to
- 16:20the outside world.
- 16:20When you think of things in your head,
- 16:23and they haven't happened yet, the progress is
- 16:27happening inside you, but it hasn't been visible
- 16:29in the world yet, in the tangible world.
- 16:32I think that's an important one for a
- 16:34lot of us to think about and to
- 16:35understand that just because we don't see something
- 16:39in the outside world yet doesn't mean we
- 16:41should give up, doesn't mean that we should
- 16:42stop doing what we're doing.
- 16:44All right, that's the main gist there.
- 16:46Number 16, guys, invisible growth compounds, and this
- 16:49is where real progress forms, long before results
- 16:52are visible to the outside world.
- 16:55Does that make sense or no?
- 17:01Think about that for a minute.
- 17:07Think about that for just a second, and
- 17:17think about this for a minute.
- 17:19Think about silent mastery and how it forms,
- 17:23and this is where real progress forms, long
- 17:25before results are visible to the outside world.
- 17:27Silent mastery means you're just doing something.
- 17:35Silent mastery means that you're doing something for
- 17:38a purpose, for a reason.
- 17:42Doing something because of a core value, a
- 17:47core value that may be, I don't know,
- 17:51a core value that says, this is why
- 17:55I'm here, this is why I'm doing this.
- 18:00That's important, guys.
- 18:02Hidden discipline always wins, and this is where
- 18:04real progress forms, long before results are visible
- 18:06to the outside world.
- 18:07Hidden discipline, that's the stuff that nobody else
- 18:10sees.
- 18:12Okay, it's the stuff that makes champions out
- 18:18of ourselves, but I'm not gonna tell you
- 18:21it's easy because I'd be lying if I
- 18:24said that, all right?
- 18:25So hidden discipline always wins.
- 18:29Number 19, quiet seasons remove the noise, and
- 18:33this is where real progress forms, long before
- 18:35results are visible to the outside world.
- 18:36Quiet seasons, when we remove noise, when we
- 18:39remove the chatter of things, it's like our
- 18:43life changes, our life changes, our
- 18:53life changes, and when it does, we get
- 19:03these mini epiphanies to help us see where
- 19:06we're going.
- 19:09It's not always the easiest thing, but we
- 19:11do get insights into why something's going a
- 19:13certain way or maybe why something isn't going
- 19:16a certain way, okay?
- 19:18I think that's an important thing to realize,
- 19:26very, very important to realize that, knowing that
- 19:36when you want change, you walk quietly.
- 19:46Number 20, guys, invisible wins, they add up,
- 19:49and again, this is where real progress forms,
- 19:51long before results are visible to the outside
- 19:53world.
- 19:53When the teams of the Super Bowl are
- 19:55practicing day in and day out, okay, they're
- 19:59practicing and they know what they're doing, but
- 20:01I can tell you something, they do this,
- 20:05but then their victory becomes visible, very, very
- 20:09visible, and then it's like, wow.
- 20:13Number 21, preparations shape our outcomes, and this
- 20:15is where real progress forms, long before results
- 20:18are visible to the outside world.
- 20:22Yes, so these are things, guys, that can
- 20:24really change us, and by saying that, we
- 20:35already can get some type of progress, but
- 20:43again, it might not necessarily be easy to
- 20:46see the progress, so you have to think
- 20:52about it.
- 20:53You have to think about what it means.
- 20:55You have to think about, is it aligned
- 20:56with your core values?
- 20:59Number 22, guys, quiet work strengthens resolve.
- 21:03It sure does, and this is where real
- 21:04progress forms, long before results are visible to
- 21:07the outside world.
- 21:11Quietness, different types of quietness, different types of
- 21:14acts not looking to put on a show,
- 21:18that's pretty powerful, guys, extremely powerful.
- 21:23Hidden effort builds resilience.
- 21:27Everybody thinks everything has to be so visible,
- 21:29that it has to be so on stage
- 21:31like Broadway and ostentatious, but it doesn't.
- 21:35It's the stuff that we don't show that
- 21:38actually creates the magic.
- 21:42And by the magic, I mean your success,
- 21:45okay?
- 21:46I definitely mean your success, but it does
- 21:49not happen overnight, okay?
- 21:53It doesn't happen overnight.
- 22:01I think most people want progress, but they
- 22:07become stuck, and they do the same thing
- 22:12over and over again, and they get the
- 22:14same result.
- 22:15Well, Einstein said doing the same thing over
- 22:16and over again and getting the same result
- 22:18and expecting something different, that's insanity.
- 22:22If we expect to get something different, we
- 22:24do the same thing over and over again.
- 22:25Number 24, invisible focus sharpens our skills, because
- 22:32it helps us to attune to what is
- 22:36going on.
- 22:38And that attuning is something that I think
- 22:40a lot of people, they don't necessarily realize,
- 22:45all right?
- 22:47And by that in itself, most people will
- 22:54be like, I've had enough, like I don't
- 22:56want to do this.
- 22:57But you see, that's when the growth starts
- 23:00to kick in.
- 23:01It kicks in then.
- 23:13That's important.
- 23:18And again, it's where real progress forms long
- 23:23before results are visible to the outside world.
- 23:26Number 25, guys, silent momentum grows.
- 23:30This is where real progress forms long before
- 23:32results are visible to the outside world.
- 23:34And it's not because you're
- 24:00lost.
- 24:04Maybe because you're, think about that for a
- 24:14moment.
- 24:23What does that mean to you, being lost?
- 24:27Maybe it means you have to start over
- 24:29a different way.
- 24:44Number 26, quiet repetition matters.
- 24:48And this is where real progress forms long
- 24:50before it's visible to the outside world.
- 24:53Number 27, guys, invisible grind, it lasts.
- 24:56And this is where real progress forms long
- 24:58before results are visible to the outside world.
- 25:00I think grind becomes a problem for a
- 25:02lot of people.
- 25:03They don't understand it.
- 25:31Think about what that means to you.
- 25:44Think about what that means and why it
- 25:45means something.
- 25:50Preparation beats the hype, guys.
- 25:53This is where real progress forms long before
- 25:55it's visible to the outside world.
- 25:58Number 29, guys, hidden effort creates dominance.
- 26:10It creates a dominance, a dominance that is
- 26:18pretty interesting.
- 26:22A dominance that may be, I don't know,
- 26:26a dominance that might actually change like how
- 26:31you're moving in life, okay?
- 26:38Think about that for just a moment.
- 26:46I think sometimes people just don't get it.
- 26:58And that can make a big difference for
- 27:01a lot of people to why they don't
- 27:03go somewhere.
- 27:04And this is where real progress forms long
- 27:06before results are visible to the outside world.
- 27:08Number 30, guys, invisible phase builds winners.
- 27:12So don't like give up.
- 27:14This is where real progress forms long before
- 27:16results are visible to the outside world.

- 27:20is watching, keep going, the world rewards the
- 27:25quietly strong, not the loudly powerful.
