- 0:00Speaker 1: We will finish up in the ACC. I think this
- 0:02Speaker 1: is the ACC's game of the year. It could be.
- 0:04Speaker 1: When you look at a conference-on-conference matchup, obviously I think
- 0:08Speaker 1: Miami-Notre Dame is bigger. I think going into Clemson-LSU, we
- 0:11Speaker 1: thought that was going to be bigger. But ACC versus ACC,
- 0:14Speaker 1: I think this game will determine who goes and sees
- 0:18Speaker 1: Miami in the conference championship. Virginia could be hanging around.
- 0:22Speaker 1: We'll see what Tech has later in the year. We'll
- 0:23Speaker 1: see what other teams do. But to get the game
- 0:26Speaker 1: ahead and then get the tiebreaker as well. I think
- 0:29Speaker 1: this is going to be really big for whoever wins
- 0:30Speaker 1: this game. It is presented by prize picks Cole. Well,
- 0:33Speaker 1: you know what? I've let Cole go first every time. Tom,
- 0:37Speaker 1: you can start off a Louisville SMU.
- 0:39Speaker 2: Who wants to play defense.
- 0:41Speaker 3: I'm excited.
- 0:43Speaker 2: I'm excited about this game.
- 0:44Speaker 3: Like I was really encouraged by Lincoln Keenholz in his
- 0:47Speaker 3: first two games and especially the, the old miss game.
- 0:49Speaker 3: But I mean, like for a guy who are only
- 0:53Speaker 3: knowledge of him was that, horrible bowl game against Missouri
- 0:56Speaker 3: for Ohio State years ago where he came in and
- 0:59Speaker 3: just got shellacked as a backup like I think if
- 1:02Speaker 3: I'm correct he'd not started a game since high school
- 1:05Speaker 3: prior to start against Ole Miss he's looked very sharp
- 1:09Speaker 3: and he brings a lot to the offense he brings
- 1:12Speaker 3: his legs he brings a very good passing acumen like
- 1:15Speaker 3: Jeff Braum has clearly done a really nice job with
- 1:17Speaker 3: him On the flip side, SMU, Kevin Jennings, et cetera,
- 1:21Speaker 3: they had the explosivity that we expected. And granted, it
- 1:24Speaker 3: was Florida State, but still Florida State's defense put up
- 1:27Speaker 3: a fight throughout that game in Tallahassee. I think this
- 1:32Speaker 3: is going to come down to turnovers like a lot
- 1:34Speaker 3: of games do in that Kevin Jennings makes some very,
- 1:39Speaker 3: very odd decisions sometimes in the passing game. He is
- 1:42Speaker 3: the best athlete on the field more often than not
- 1:45Speaker 3: whenever he steps between the white lines. He's got to
- 1:48Speaker 3: be safer with the football if they want to pull
- 1:50Speaker 3: this thing out. But it's really going to be a shootout,
- 1:53Speaker 3: in my opinion. I haven't seen either team really stand
- 1:57Speaker 3: up defensively. There continue to be lapses in the secondary.
- 2:01Speaker 1: And that's been.
- 2:04Speaker 3: Something we've seen out of Louisville for a while, so
- 2:06Speaker 3: they need to get that corrected. You believe in the
- 2:08Speaker 3: pass rush that Louisville was able to bring. I thought
- 2:11Speaker 3: SMU's pass rush did well against Florida State, but again,
- 2:14Speaker 3: you consider the competition. That's important. They feel very evenly matched, honestly.
- 2:18Speaker 3: But this is going to come down to who turns
- 2:20Speaker 3: the ball over the least, I think.
- 2:23Speaker 2: I think that's part of it.
- 2:24Speaker 4: What I also want to know is that can we
- 2:25Speaker 4: see either one of these rushing attacks get going with
- 2:27Speaker 4: the non-quarterback factor? Because so far, neither one of these teams,
- 2:31Speaker 4: that I actually had a lot of hope for their
- 2:33Speaker 4: running back systems, whether it be Isaac Brown, whether it
- 2:37Speaker 4: be Kiwan Brown, Kendrick Raphael, I believe D'Amico Green is
- 2:43Speaker 4: the other running back's name. They're all like average. None
- 2:46Speaker 4: of them have over 100 rushing yards so far. Now,
- 2:48Speaker 4: Isaac Brown's close with like 97%. But they also haven't
- 2:50Speaker 4: found the end zone consistently.
- 2:52Speaker 2: So can we see.
- 2:53Speaker 4: Not the quarterbacks be the reason why your ground game
- 2:56Speaker 4: is moving? Both quarterbacks have been known to be able
- 2:59Speaker 4: to throw into double coverage. And, you know, for one side,
- 3:02Speaker 4: Lincoln Keenholz has not had a turnover in the sense
- 3:05Speaker 4: of he has not had an interception, but he's made
- 3:08Speaker 4: some plays to where, hell, that ball hangs a little
- 3:10Speaker 4: bit too long. It's going to be able to go
- 3:13Speaker 4: ahead and be picked off by somebody. I think that
- 3:14Speaker 4: SMU has the dudes.
- 3:16Speaker 2: I don't need to say what we know about Kevin
- 3:18Speaker 2: Jennings with the.
- 3:19Speaker 4: Four turnovers in the game against Florida State. I think
- 3:22Speaker 4: of the passing attack of both these games are going
- 3:23Speaker 4: to be really, really fun. Who breaks on open a
- 3:25Speaker 4: little bit more? Is it going to be Trey Richardson?
- 3:27Speaker 4: And more specifically, who's going to be the secondary receiver
- 3:30Speaker 4: that does it?
- 3:31Speaker 2: Lawayne McCoy, who currently.
- 3:32Speaker 4: Is averaging 32.8 yards of play. I mean, is it
- 3:36Speaker 4: going to be him? Is it going to be Jaleel
- 3:37Speaker 4: Skinner at the tight end position? Then you flip it
- 3:40Speaker 4: on over to SMU side. Is it going to be
- 3:42Speaker 4: Yannick Smith, the ECU transfer? Is it going to be
- 3:45Speaker 4: Jalen Cooper? Is it going to be Yamir Knight? I mean,
- 3:48Speaker 4: they have weapons that are just finding ways to open,
- 3:50Speaker 4: and the explosive plays that we've seen from both sides
- 3:54Speaker 4: are very much alive and well. So can you limit
- 3:56Speaker 4: the explosives and force these quarterbacks at the play within
- 3:58Speaker 4: the system? I think that both of these two teams
- 4:02Speaker 4: have so much riding in on this game because if
- 4:04Speaker 4: you're SMU, this is an opportunity to pop you up
- 4:07Speaker 4: into the conversation about being the number two team in
- 4:09Speaker 4: the ACC and kind of silence anyone who has the
- 4:13Speaker 4: question marks about can you win in big environments. But
- 4:16Speaker 4: on the flip side, You know, for Louisville, they're going
- 4:19Speaker 4: to have two losses if they lose this game. I
- 4:21Speaker 4: personally think that Louisville is the more talented team. I
- 4:23Speaker 4: like their defense. I like their offensive line. I love
- 4:26Speaker 4: their rushing attack. I love that they have a mobile quarterback.
- 4:28Speaker 4: I love Trey Richardson at wide receiver. Clev Lubin, I think,
- 4:31Speaker 4: is the best defensive player currently in the ACC. Can
- 4:35Speaker 4: they do enough to say, we looked bad at times
- 4:38Speaker 4: defensively against Trey Dad Shameless? Because it's Trinidad Chambliss. Everyone
- 4:43Speaker 4: looks bad against Trinidad Chambliss. I think that's the main takeaway.
- 4:45Speaker 4: We were able to force Kevin Jenks to live within
- 4:47Speaker 4: a system. Just a lot of things to like about
- 4:50Speaker 4: this game. Like this has an opportunity. And I find
- 4:54Speaker 4: it really disrespectful. And as an SEC fan, I'll be
- 4:56Speaker 4: the first to say this. I find it really disrespectful
- 4:59Speaker 4: that this is not one of the primetime games of
- 5:00Speaker 4: the week. Like on the main television platform. I think
- 5:02Speaker 4: it's on ESPN too, if I'm not mistaken.
- 5:04Speaker 2: I think that's wrong.
- 5:05Speaker 1: Hey guys, I'll get right back to the show, but
- 5:07Speaker 1: first I want to tell you about our friends over
- 5:09Speaker 1: at PrizePix. All new users there who play a $ 5
- 5:11Speaker 1: lineup and win get $ 150 in lineups instantly if they've
- 5:14Speaker 1: used code HMA. This week on The Power 2, over
- 5:17Speaker 1: on the College Football Addiction main channel, we picked these
- 5:21Speaker 1: picks that you see on the screen. Mensa, Tony, Lacey, Levitt,
- 5:25Speaker 1: and Trinidad. A lot of these can be adjusted. So
- 5:28Speaker 1: we took the more on everything, but some of us
- 5:30Speaker 1: took the more on Trinidad to have one passing touchdown.
- 5:33Speaker 1: Some of us took the more on him to have 1.5
- 5:36Speaker 1: or 3.5. Some of us took the more on Sam
- 5:38Speaker 1: Leavitt at 2.5 passing touchdowns. Kiwan Lacey has a bunch
- 5:42Speaker 1: of different options that we took the more on. You
- 5:44Speaker 1: can take more than 76. You can take more than 69.5.
- 5:45Speaker 1: You can take more than 39.5 if you just want
- 5:47Speaker 1: to try and play it safe. Malachi Toney at. 5 touchdowns.
- 5:53Speaker 1: I took the more there. You can go all the
- 5:54Speaker 1: way up to 2.5 if you think he goes off
- 5:56Speaker 1: against Wake. Go check out the Price Picks app. Take
- 5:58Speaker 1: the more on everything, but adjust it to where your
- 6:02Speaker 1: comfort level is. Go check out them. Go check out
- 6:04Speaker 1: the live show of The Power 2. Make sure you
- 6:06Speaker 1: are subscribed. Now back to the clip.
- 6:09Speaker 3: I'll look it up.
- 6:10Speaker 1: It's yeah, it is three 30. I wonder why it's not. Well,
- 6:13Speaker 1: first of all, I'm thankful that it's not like the
- 6:15Speaker 1: Friday night game. Although I think it's disrespectful to put
- 6:18Speaker 1: Miami or ACC's best team on Friday night. Miami doesn't
- 6:22Speaker 1: play a home game until the last week of September,
- 6:24Speaker 1: which is kind of crazy to think about over a
- 6:26Speaker 1: month of college football. And they don't play their last,
- 6:29Speaker 1: their first home game until then. And it's against central Michigan.
- 6:32Speaker 1: So it's not.
- 6:32Speaker 4: Even first home game on a Saturday.
- 6:35Speaker 2: Cause they played the first game.
- 6:36Speaker 1: Correct, yeah. First Saturday game. I did not mean home. So, yeah,
- 6:41Speaker 1: they played Friday, Thursday, Friday to start the year, which
- 6:44Speaker 1: is wild. But, yeah, what is the ACC schedule this week?
- 6:48Speaker 1: What is the night game for this week that we've
- 6:52Speaker 1: got coming up on ESPN? It's Virginia Tech, Maryland is
- 6:56Speaker 1: on Fox Sports. West Virginia, Virginia, which is a fun game.
- 6:59Speaker 1: I even toyed around with putting that on the lineup
- 7:01Speaker 1: this week. Um, that's the ACC network seven o'clock kickoff.
- 7:05Speaker 1: There is not a night kickoff anywhere on ESPN, just,
- 7:09Speaker 1: just on the ACC network. So, I mean, getting SMU
- 7:12Speaker 1: Louisville on ESPN too, is probably a bigger draw than
- 7:15Speaker 1: having the night game for a TV perspective. It's not
- 7:18Speaker 1: as fun for fans that are going to the game.
- 7:20Speaker 1: I will tell you that noon game that Lamar Jackson
- 7:23Speaker 1: went for 4 billion yards and 3 billion points. against
- 7:26Speaker 1: FSU was a noon game back in 2016. And that
- 7:29Speaker 1: place was like off the charts, rocking like your TVs
- 7:31Speaker 1: were actually moving. If you were watching that game because
- 7:34Speaker 1: of how loud it was, I've been there on a
- 7:36Speaker 1: Friday night. That place will be nuts. My question is, man,
- 7:41Speaker 1: I talked about it leading up to the Florida state game.
- 7:44Speaker 1: and you guys mentioned this too, is Kevin Jennings has
- 7:46Speaker 1: not been elite on the road. Now against Florida state
- 7:49Speaker 1: on the road, he threw for a ton of yards.
- 7:51Speaker 1: And so, yeah, he, it was a lot of good
- 7:53Speaker 1: mixed with a lot of bad. He didn't just like
- 7:54Speaker 1: go into full hermit mode, but can he correct the mistakes?
- 7:59Speaker 1: I think Louisville has a better defense than SMU. I
- 8:01Speaker 1: don't think Kevin Jennings has quite as good of a
- 8:03Speaker 1: game as, uh, you know, he did against the Seminoles
- 8:07Speaker 1: when he goes up to Louisville. But I, again, I
- 8:10Speaker 1: think this does so many games coming out of this.
- 8:13Speaker 1: So it's, Oh man, great groundbreaking analysis here. Somebody is
- 8:16Speaker 1: going to make a mistake in this game, whether it's
- 8:18Speaker 1: keen holes, seeing something different because he's playing a really
- 8:21Speaker 1: good opponent, which he played a really good opponent week one.
- 8:23Speaker 1: And it was pretty, pretty, pretty good. Jennings has the
- 8:27Speaker 1: propensity to do it on the road in a raucous environment.
- 8:30Speaker 1: That's probably not booing his head coach. Every other down, uh,
- 8:34Speaker 1: I lean at Louisville here because it's at home. I
- 8:37Speaker 1: do think that I have a little bit more confidence
- 8:39Speaker 1: in their defense than I do SMUs. I think it's,
- 8:46Speaker 1: I think it's the Cardinal, but, or it's the Cardinals,
- 8:48Speaker 1: but I, I don't know, man, this, this one is
- 8:50Speaker 1: going to be a ton of fun and I can't
- 8:51Speaker 1: wait to, well, watch the highlights or watch it on
- 8:54Speaker 1: my phone while I'm watching Bama beat our teeth in.
- 8:56Speaker 3: I think I'm leaning Louisville as well. I think their
- 9:02Speaker 3: pass rush is, It makes me feel a little bit
- 9:04Speaker 3: more comfortable than SMU's defense, I guess, overall. I think
- 9:10Speaker 3: that's going to be an edge in this game. My
- 9:12Speaker 3: point about turnovers, and it does kind of feel like
- 9:14Speaker 3: one of those games where whoever has the ball last
- 9:16Speaker 3: probably wins. I'm going to take Louisville.
- 9:20Speaker 4: Most disrespected team coming into the season among the AP voters.
- 9:24Speaker 4: The fact that they were at number 24 was, in
- 9:26Speaker 4: my mind, asinine. I think they are the second best
- 9:29Speaker 4: team in the ACC despite being a one-on-one record.
- 9:32Speaker 2: I think if they show up and show on out
- 9:34Speaker 2: why they are the number two team in.
- 9:35Speaker 4: The ACC and have one step closer to punching their
- 9:38Speaker 4: ticket to Charlotte, I'm going to take Louisville to win
- 9:39Speaker 4: this game by six.
- 9:41Speaker 1: Yeah, I think Louisville's a two-and-a-half point favorite at home,
- 9:47Speaker 1: so they're basically telling you that is a complete coin
- 9:49Speaker 1: flip and they're giving them a few points for home
- 9:50Speaker 1: field advantage.
- 9:51Speaker 2: As of now, it is a one and a half
- 9:54Speaker 2: point line.
- 9:55Speaker 1: So they think smu slightly better maybe that has to
- 9:57Speaker 1: do with louisville having a loss but as nick saban
- 10:01Speaker 1: said that was a good loss in my opinion um
- 10:04Speaker 1: what's better okay here's a good question for you guys
- 10:06Speaker 1: what's better the lost old miss or the win against
- 10:09Speaker 1: florida state for.
- 10:09Speaker 2: Smu lost old miss far and away lost old.
- 10:12Speaker 1: Miss Now, I will tell you at the same time,
- 10:14Speaker 1: I hate that logic. I hate the idea that we're...
- 10:18Speaker 1: But if we're going on that logic, I would agree.
- 10:21Speaker 1: I think that loss to Ole Miss was more impressive
- 10:22Speaker 1: than what SMU did to try and give the game
- 10:25Speaker 1: away to Florida State.
- 10:25Speaker 2: Okay, humor me. Humor me on this one.
- 10:27Speaker 4: If anyone besides Ashton Daniels is playing quarterback for Florida State,
- 10:30Speaker 4: does Florida State win that football game with the four
- 10:32Speaker 4: turnovers by SMU?
- 10:33Speaker 1: Correct.
- 10:34Speaker 2: Yes.
- 10:35Speaker 1: It's not correct.
- 10:35Speaker 4: Sorry.
- 10:36Speaker 2: Yes.
- 10:37Speaker 1: If Calandria plays quarterback, I think they win.
- 10:40Speaker 2: Yeah, cool. If both of you will play quarterback, do
- 10:42Speaker 2: they win?
- 10:43Speaker 4: Hold on a second.
- 10:44Speaker 3: We're working at a hypothetical of guys that aren't even
- 10:46Speaker 3: on the team.
- 10:47Speaker 1: Well, Calandria visited Florida State.
- 10:50Speaker 3: I'm saying like right now. Are there backup quarterbacks at
- 10:53Speaker 3: Florida State?
- 10:54Speaker 1: No, no, no, no, no. Guys they should have gotten
- 10:57Speaker 1: in the offseason.
- 11:00Speaker 4: They brought in DeLague, Calandria, two other guys, and they settled.
- 11:04Speaker 2: On Ashton Daniels. That's my opinion. If they got any
- 11:09Speaker 2: one of the other quarterbacks, they win that football.
- 11:11Speaker 1: Yeah, no, I agree with that. I think if they
- 11:13Speaker 1: have Tommy Castellanos, they win that game.
- 11:15Speaker 2: I think if they have Tommy Castellanos, they win that game.
- 11:17Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 11:17Speaker 2: I can tell you what, Deuce Robinson goes off in
- 11:19Speaker 2: that game.
- 11:20Speaker 1: Mike trusted Tommy to throw the ball. And right now
- 11:22Speaker 1: he doesn't trust Ashton Daniels.
- 11:24Speaker 3: Does Tommy C take over as starter midway through the
- 11:26Speaker 3: Houston game this weekend?
- 11:28Speaker 4: No.
- 11:29Speaker 1: No, I don't think so.
- 11:30Speaker 4: No.
- 11:31Speaker 1: Who all gave us, am I the only one not
- 11:32Speaker 1: to do a score of this one yet?
- 11:34Speaker 3: Oh, I am.
- 11:37Speaker 1: Go ahead, Cole.
- 11:38Speaker 4: 30 to 20.
- 11:42Speaker 2: 21.
- 11:44Speaker 1: I'll go. Ooh, 11 points. No, I'm going closer than that. Uh,
- 11:50Speaker 1: higher scoring 35, 31. Give me the home team.
- 11:54Speaker 3: Uh, give me 33, 28 Louisville.
- 11:57Speaker 1: Is that a three for three? Is that our first
- 11:59Speaker 1: three for, no, we all pick Bama. Um, so it's
- 12:01Speaker 1: not our first three for three of the day. Well,
- 12:03Speaker 1: we all obviously pick Notre Dame too, but, uh, yeah,
- 12:07Speaker 1: three for three go Cardinals. Make sure you are subscribed.
- 12:11Speaker 1: We have the audio feeds finally up and fixed. All
- 12:14Speaker 1: the audio podcasts are on Spotify, Apple, anywhere else you

- 12:25Speaker 1: obviously message me on any kind of social media. If
- 12:27Speaker 1: you comment it, I may see it. I may not.
- 12:29Speaker 1: So if you let me know an audio podcast that
- 12:32Speaker 1: we're not on, I'm happy to try and get us
- 12:33Speaker 1: on there. And again, make sure you're subscribed here to

- 12:43Speaker 1: much as we do. We'll be back on Sunday. I
- 12:46Speaker 1: think the tentative plan right now is Sunday at noon
- 12:49Speaker 1: before the NFL games kick off. So noon Eastern to
- 12:52Speaker 1: recap what's happened this weekend. Then we'll be back again
- 12:55Speaker 1: next week to preview what's going on next week as well.
- 12:57Speaker 2: I thought it was Sunday night. I got Texans game.
- 13:00Speaker 1: Sunday night. You're right. I was talking to somebody else
- 13:02Speaker 1: about Sunday at noon. You are exactly right. Sunday at
- 13:04Speaker 1: 8 p.m., I believe. It's 8 p.m.
- 13:06Speaker 4: Eastern.
- 13:07Speaker 1: Um, thank you for the correction there. I'm doing another show, uh,
- 13:10Speaker 1: state of the state quick plug for that. Um, but, uh, yeah,
- 13:13Speaker 1: that's what it was. 8 PM Eastern. We'll be back
- 13:15Speaker 1: on Sunday night to talk about all of these games
- 13:17Speaker 1: and we'll be back next week to preview more. Enjoy
- 13:20Speaker 1: your college football weekends. This is the power to on
- 13:22Speaker 1: college football addiction. See you guys later.
