Speaker 1: Peter is a natural leader of the early church. Peter

Speaker 1: to them, and as we know, he is the one

Speaker 1: who betrayed Jesus. Jesus said it was better for this

Speaker 1: pay off to betray the Lord or anyone else for

Speaker 1: that matter. We need to be people of integrity. We

Speaker 1: need to be loyal, we need to have virtue, we

Speaker 1: Holy Spirit is here to help us, to strengthen us

Speaker 1: And we know that we need to wait the empowerment

Speaker 1: we're going through the Book of Acts and I was

Speaker 1: chosen to teach Acts chapter seven in our congregation. So Amen,

Speaker 1: let's get back to it. Let's get into verse one,

Speaker 1: when the day of Pentecot had foody come. They were

Speaker 1: all with one accord in one place, and suddenly there

Speaker 1: came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing, mighty wind,

Speaker 1: and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.

Speaker 1: And there appeared to them divided tongues as of fire.

Speaker 1: And one sat upon each of them, and they were

Speaker 1: all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak

Speaker 1: with other tongues as his spirit gave the mutterance. And

Speaker 1: they were dwelling in Jerusalem, Jews, devout men from every

Speaker 1: nation under heaven. And when this sound occurred, the multitudes

Speaker 1: came together, and we're confused, because everyone heard them speak

Speaker 1: in his own language. Then they were all amazed and marveled,

Speaker 1: saying to one another, Look, are not all these who

Speaker 1: speak Galileans? And how is it that they that we

Speaker 1: hear each in our own language in which we were born,

Speaker 1: Parthens and Meds and Elamites. We hear them speaking in

Speaker 1: our own tongues the wonderful works of God. So they

Speaker 1: were all amazed and perplexed, saying to one another, whether

Speaker 1: could this mean? Whatever this could mean? Verse thirteen. And

Speaker 1: others said, this is new wine. All right, let's go

Speaker 1: ahead and break this down now, the day of Pentecost.

Speaker 1: The word Pentecost means fiftieth, the fiftieth, right, the feast

Speaker 1: fifty days after passed over. This is a feast that

Speaker 1: they would have fifty days after the passover feast. I'm

Speaker 1: give my mouth to work celebrating the first fruits. Now, prophetically,

Speaker 1: it symbolizes the first fruits of the spirit, which we

Speaker 1: know as the birth of the Church. Amen, the Church

Speaker 1: is spiritual. Please remember that if you don't remember anything else.

Speaker 1: The Church is spiritual. Christ wants us to bring wants

Speaker 1: to bring us into the spiritual life, a life of

Speaker 1: spiritual victory, spiritual consistency. And this is where we connect

Speaker 1: with God in the spirit realm. Now one accord is

Speaker 1: in one place, or should I say one accord in

Speaker 1: one place. Now, this shows unity is the womb where

Speaker 1: revival is born. Unity is so important in the kingdom.

Speaker 1: You have to contend for unity. It's not a virtuous

Speaker 1: thing to be rebellious. People think they wear rebellion as

Speaker 1: a bad but it's not. Unity is valued in the Kingdom. Now,

Speaker 1: the sound from heaven, it was not a gentle breeze

Speaker 1: that they heard.

Speaker 2: It was mighty.

Speaker 1: It was a mighty sound now signifying God's power. Suddenly

Speaker 1: break into the natural realm now tongues as of fire.

Speaker 1: This symbolizes cleansing a man. Fire purifies. It symbolizes cleansing,

Speaker 1: and it also symbolizes empowerment. So these are the works

Speaker 1: that the Holy Spirit wants to do in our life.

Speaker 1: Holy Spirit wants to cleanse us, the Holy Spirit wants

Speaker 1: to empower us. And the spirit is also a sign

Speaker 1: of God, God's approval. If you remember with me, when

Speaker 1: Jesus healed the man that was born blind, and he

Speaker 1: told him to take up his bed and walk, and

Speaker 1: the religious leaders had a huge problem with that because

Speaker 1: he broke the Sabbath, and so they put this man

Speaker 1: on trial. They even called his parents to see if
12:28
Speaker 1: he was really born blind. The parents didn't want nothing

Speaker 1: to do with it because they didn't want to get
12:33
Speaker 1: kicked out of the synagogue. And while they were going
12:37
Speaker 1: back and forth with this man, this man testified and
12:41
Speaker 1: he said, if this man was a sinner, he would
12:46
Speaker 1: not be able to do nothing. From the beginning of
12:50
Speaker 1: the world, it was never heard of that a man
12:52
Speaker 1: born blind received his sight. So Jesus even said, believe

Speaker 1: me for my work's sake. So the work in the

Speaker 1: power of the Holy Spirit can also be a symbol

Speaker 1: of God's approval. Amen. And even more so, our lifestyle

Speaker 1: enables us to live a life of obedience in keeping

Speaker 1: the word of the Lord. Now, I do want to

Speaker 1: put a disclaimer in there and be careful because the

Speaker 1: word that God does say that false teachers and false

Speaker 1: prophets will use miracles, signs and wonders to deceive. So

Speaker 1: we have to discern the spirit. Amen. Now, it was
13:53
Speaker 1: like the burning bush that Moses saw. This bush was
13:58
Speaker 1: on fire, but it was not consumed. Now, the miracle

Speaker 1: at Pentecost was not the fact that people were hearing
14:12
Speaker 1: a heavenly language. Right when we speak in tongues. When

Speaker 1: I speak in tongues, I was told that we're speaking

Speaker 1: in heavenly language, we're speaking the language of angels, or
14:26
Speaker 1: we're speaking directly to God. And the enemy is confused.

Speaker 1: He cannot understand. It's like speaking in secret code. But

Speaker 1: also this miracle right here shows that they were speaking

Speaker 1: in the language of the people that we're hearing in

Speaker 1: their own tongue. Now, this right here shows that God

Speaker 1: reversed the curse at Babylon. Now, if you remember this

Speaker 1: story of Babel, the Tower of where they were trying

Speaker 1: to build this tower to reach heaven. And I do

Speaker 1: believe that the overseer of this tower was a Nimrod.

Speaker 1: If you read about Nimrod, this is where all paganism

Speaker 1: was birthed, all false religion. And so because of the unity,

Speaker 1: even God said this. He came down and he watched

Speaker 1: and he says that they are all united, and they
15:35
Speaker 1: are all working together. Because of the unity. They used

Speaker 1: it for evil. And God says, nothing that they imagine

Speaker 1: will not be accomplished. We'll be able to accomplish everything

Speaker 1: if they unite. So he confounded their language so that

Speaker 1: they could not understand each other. And so people moved

Speaker 1: all over the earth, and that's where we have the

Speaker 1: nations today in the different languages. It was a curse

Speaker 1: on the Tower of Babel. But now you see here

Speaker 1: on the day of Pentecost that everyone is hearing in

Speaker 1: their own language. That communication was brought back and they

Speaker 1: were hearing in their own language the mighty works of God. Amen.

Speaker 1: Now the crowd response. Their response shows that whenever the

Speaker 1: spirit is moving in our lives, some people will be amazed,

Speaker 1: some people will support, some people will get behind it,

Speaker 1: some people will bless your ministry. And I want to

Speaker 1: give a quick shout out to my brother Ray and Tina.

Speaker 1: This is a dynamic family that saw me and it

Speaker 1: was a part of the ministry when they actually came

Speaker 1: to the building. This is one family that stuck with

Speaker 1: me when everyone else walked out. They came. They saw

Speaker 1: the concerts, they saw the shows. They would come to
17:25
Speaker 1: Sunday night Bible studies, and they saw everything, even until
17:32
Speaker 1: the day we had to move out the building. And

Speaker 1: over the years, you know, we went our own ways.

Speaker 1: You know, I went to where God can restore me.

Speaker 1: I've dealt with some things, and to be honest, I
17:48
Speaker 1: backslid and went back to my whole life. Felt the
17:52
Speaker 1: temptation and God, you know, I had to restore me
17:56
Speaker 1: and bring me back. You know, I'm not gonna be

Speaker 1: act like I'm perfect of promise to be honest and transparent.

Speaker 1: But the Lord restored me my walk with him, and

Speaker 1: so I'm in a place where I'm getting retrained and
18:19
Speaker 1: getting redirection and things like that to get back out

Speaker 1: in the ministry. And we just reconnected and we're gonna

Speaker 1: be doing some things. But distinctively. I do remember the

Speaker 1: Holy Spirit just fell upon us. We were in the
18:36
Speaker 1: lobby at the club and we were just praying, and
18:39
Speaker 1: the Holy Spirit just felt so tough. So I know
18:43
Speaker 1: God has something in store for us as a ministry

Speaker 1: and man. And so you're gonna have people that are
18:52
Speaker 1: amazed at the work of the Spirit. And then you're
18:56
Speaker 1: gonna have some people who are gonna mock. You're gonna

Speaker 1: have some people who are against it. You're gonna have
19:03
Speaker 1: some naysayers. Right, You're always gonna have two kingdoms moving right.

Speaker 1: The enemy is gonna stop aboard to everything he can

Speaker 1: to keep you from your calling. So you need to
19:14
Speaker 1: pray and ask God if this is an implant from
19:18
Speaker 1: the enemy. The enemy is able to send people in
19:21
Speaker 1: your life to distract you. That's where that discernment kicks in.

Speaker 1: But the work of the Spirit will speak for itself. Amen. Now, family,

Speaker 1: listen up. This is the moment right here with Jesus

Speaker 1: promised you shall receive power and notice something powerful. Here.

Speaker 1: They were sitting, not striving, not trying to hype the

Speaker 1: themselves up, not manipulating emotions, just waiting together in obedience.

Speaker 1: They're just waiting there together and just to obey the

Speaker 1: word of the Lord. Amen. And I'm going to give

Speaker 1: a pastor was preaching a couple of Sundays ago one morning,

Speaker 1: and he just wanted to make a point and he

Speaker 1: was going to use her as an illustration. So he

Speaker 1: walks over there and he says, hey, sister Andre, stand

Speaker 1: up for a second. And then he pointed to other

Speaker 1: people in the crowd while he was talking in a message,

Speaker 1: and she's stood standing there for at least twenty minutes,

Speaker 1: Like we forgot she was standing there. And one of

Speaker 1: the sisters in the church was like, hey, she's still

Speaker 1: over there standing and she's like, I'm just standing here

Speaker 1: in obedience. You know. A pastor told me to stand up.

Speaker 1: So that's that is an obedient heart right there. Amen.

Speaker 1: they were sitting in the upper room together in unity

Speaker 1: and in obedience to the word of Lord, and suddenly

Speaker 1: the presence of God filled the room. Sometimes we want

Speaker 1: God to move while we're running around frantic or stressed

Speaker 1: or worn out. But Pentecost teaches us that the Holy

Speaker 1: Spirit falls on surrendered hearts, not busy ones. Let me

Speaker 1: say that again, the Holy Spirit falls on surrendered hearts,

Speaker 1: not busy ones. Just because you're busy doesn't mean God

Speaker 1: is necessarily moving. Right. We need to stand still, We

Speaker 1: need to be surrendered, and you just need to wait

Speaker 1: on the Lord. Amen. And God is helping me. That's

Speaker 1: one of the things I struggle is sitting quiet and

Speaker 1: waiting on God. I'm always wanting to move, I want

Speaker 1: something to happen, i want to do something, I want

Speaker 1: to get up in this and my thoughts are bouncing

Speaker 1: all over the place. But I'm learning to cast down

Speaker 1: imagination and take every thought captive in my personal time

Speaker 1: with the Lord. Amen. Now another thing. The Spirit didn't

Speaker 1: fall on Peter, only, not under leaders only right, the

Speaker 1: spirit fell on all of them. This means you. This

Speaker 1: means you listening to this podcast right now, you qualify.

Speaker 1: And when the Spirit moves, he gives you the ability

Speaker 1: to speak what you can never speak, to do what

Speaker 1: you can never do, and to reach people you never

Speaker 1: we need to call upon the Spirit, we need to

Speaker 1: live obedient, and empowers you to reach people you never

Speaker 1: middle of Sin City. We're talking about Las Vegas, Beloved,

Speaker 1: I never thought that would happen. But that was the
