Speaker 3: Welcome to the show.
2:10
Speaker 6: Senator Capito, Hello, mute, Sorry you had morning.
2:18
Speaker 3: It's all good, it's all good, it's all good. How
2:21
Speaker 3: are you, Senator?
2:22
Speaker 6: You know it is drizzling here in Washington, DC. Is
2:26
Speaker 6: it raining at home?
2:27
Speaker 3: Not at all? I mean, we can't. We haven't had
2:29
Speaker 3: We haven't had rain here in Charleston other than last
2:31
Speaker 3: Friday night since like nineteen seventy eight or something. Senator,
2:34
Speaker 3: It's it's been, it's been. It's very dry, and it's
2:37
Speaker 3: expected to remain that way for like the next week
2:39
Speaker 3: and a half. Zero rain insight here. Well, it is.
2:43
Speaker 6: Raining here a little bit, since I guess that's a
2:46
Speaker 6: welcome thing to green it up. I can tell you
2:47
Speaker 6: my front yard in Charleston's not looking too good.
2:50
Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean I walked through it the other night
2:51
Speaker 3: and it was not your front yard, my front yard,
2:53
Speaker 3: I should say. I walked through it in Putnam County
2:55
Speaker 3: and it was like walking around in Fredo's or something.
2:58
Speaker 3: Everything was crunching here in Arizona. So what are you
3:03
Speaker 3: up to today? I get several things we want to
3:05
Speaker 3: talk to you about, but specifically, what are you doing today?
3:08
Speaker 6: Well, we're obviously trying to move the President's nominations through
3:12
Speaker 6: in a better fashion, to go back to the way
3:14
Speaker 6: we used to do it when we had cooperative, a
3:17
Speaker 6: more cooperative Senate and leadership work together. And Senator Schumer
3:21
Speaker 6: has just been obstructing every single one of the President's
3:24
Speaker 6: team and it's taken too much time. So we're going
3:26
Speaker 6: to go back to the way it used to be,
3:27
Speaker 6: where you could put them in a block of forty
3:30
Speaker 6: or fifty of bipartisan. They've come out of committee bipartisan,
3:34
Speaker 6: and we're now going through the process to be able
3:36
Speaker 6: to do that. So that's what's on the Senate floor today, tomorrow,
3:40
Speaker 6: and probably as we finish up the week. You know,
3:44
Speaker 6: in my committee, I'm having a hearing on wildfires and
3:48
Speaker 6: other things on my Environment and Public Works Committee, and
3:50
Speaker 6: that I'm working hard to make sure that there's no
3:53
Speaker 6: government shut down.
3:54
Speaker 3: And then our.
3:54
Speaker 6: Appropriations bills, eight of which we have out a committee,
3:59
Speaker 6: including mine, are able to be passed on the Senate floor.
4:02
Speaker 6: So it's busy time. Plus seeing constituents. I saw the
4:04
Speaker 6: Parkinson's community came to visit me, George Manahan and others yesterday,
4:09
Speaker 6: So it's always good to see see folks from from home.
4:12
Speaker 3: Well, go back to the delay and the confirmations, if
4:16
Speaker 3: you will, I mean, is this just in your is
4:18
Speaker 3: I mean to state the obvious? Is this just an
4:21
Speaker 3: old fashioned politics, the delay tactics.
4:24
Speaker 6: This is beyond that. If you look at like the
4:27
Speaker 6: number of nominees that were confirmed by either voice vote
4:33
Speaker 6: or unanimous consent, for instance, under Obama eight hundred and
4:38
Speaker 6: fifty six were under Biden's term five hundred and thirty
4:42
Speaker 6: under this president's term zero. They will not you know,
4:46
Speaker 6: even ones that come out of committee with full bipartisan support,
4:51
Speaker 6: they won't let go on the Senate floor by unanimous consent.
4:56
Speaker 6: And what that does is it just blocks the time.
5:00
Speaker 6: We can't get to the important issues that we need
5:02
Speaker 6: to get to. We have to spend so much time
5:04
Speaker 6: on our nominees. And this is a broken system that honestly,
5:09
Speaker 6: Chuck Schumer broke at the beginning of this term, and
5:11
Speaker 6: we're going to fix it.
5:12
Speaker 3: Talked again with Senator Shelley Moore Capitso, I had a
5:16
Speaker 3: question here that the news team asked me to ask you.
5:20
Speaker 3: And I'm always glad to keep the guys upstairs a
5:22
Speaker 3: little bit happy and has to do with broadband expansion.
5:25
Speaker 3: The state submitted a proposal to the FEDS for about
5:29
Speaker 3: six hundred million. The state initially was going to get
5:31
Speaker 3: one point two billion, but we're told that the Trump
5:34
Speaker 3: administration pulled back the whole program for review. And this
5:37
Speaker 3: is what came out, is that accurate.
5:39
Speaker 6: The Trump administration did pull the program back for review.
5:43
Speaker 6: I think the governor announced last week and I've been
5:46
Speaker 6: in close contact with the Broadband Council submitted West Virginia's
5:49
Speaker 6: new plan according to what the Trump administration. The Trump
5:53
Speaker 6: administration wanted to look at a if there is a
5:55
Speaker 6: more less expensive way to deliver this service to the
5:59
Speaker 6: more rural reachable areas and include some satellite we know,
6:04
Speaker 6: and we tried to make the case. We had the
6:06
Speaker 6: head of the Antia who makes this decision, Ariel Roth
6:10
Speaker 6: is her name, and she was down in White Sulfur
6:13
Speaker 6: with us where we had a meeting with all the
6:15
Speaker 6: providers and we basically said, in West Virginia, it is
6:18
Speaker 6: almost impossible to be served adequately by any kind of satellite.
6:23
Speaker 6: There's latency, you can't get it. You know, the trees,
6:26
Speaker 6: the hollers, all of those things and so really we're
6:30
Speaker 6: trying to make the case that hardwiring or fiber is
6:34
Speaker 6: the only way to go, which is more expensive. So
6:38
Speaker 6: they've submitted and this will reach almost every West Virginia
6:42
Speaker 6: and they've worked really hard on it. The Broadband Council
6:44
Speaker 6: has and Kelly Workman and her group, and so hopefully
6:48
Speaker 6: it'll be successful.
6:49
Speaker 7: We'll know.
6:49
Speaker 6: I think they have a sixty day period to review
6:52
Speaker 6: it and then the money should start flowing by the
6:55
Speaker 6: end of the before the end of the year. But
6:56
Speaker 6: keep in mind, this has been four years of bureaucratic stuff.
7:01
Speaker 6: I was going to say something not as nice stuff.
7:05
Speaker 6: Yeah stuff, And you know, we got people that don't
7:09
Speaker 6: have service. We've got people that have inadequate service, businesses, individuals.
7:14
Speaker 6: It's just folks in West Virginia are very anxious, restless,
7:17
Speaker 6: and waiting for this. So I hope we get our
7:19
Speaker 6: one point two billion. I'm going to hold the Trump
7:22
Speaker 6: administration speak to the fire that this is what we've
7:24
Speaker 6: been promised, this is what we should get.
7:26
Speaker 3: And of course, last week the announcement was made about
7:29
Speaker 3: the Ascend West Virginia program comed in it's already been
7:33
Speaker 3: in the Greenbrier Valley Eastern Panhandle of the Elkins area,
7:36
Speaker 3: some of other areas. Now it's going to becoming This
7:38
Speaker 3: is kind of the brainchild of Brad Smith and his
7:42
Speaker 3: wife at Marshall University and now it's coming to Charleston
7:46
Speaker 3: and in order to hat now and again when you
7:48
Speaker 3: talk about in this is your area, when we talk
7:50
Speaker 3: about the Charleston area, you know, we don't have nearly
7:52
Speaker 3: as many problems as what some of the other areas do.
7:55
Speaker 3: But we're trying to get people here into the area.
7:57
Speaker 3: And they're still hollers and stuff around Charleston, and so
8:00
Speaker 3: you know, the broadband part of it is a major
8:02
Speaker 3: major part for these for these folks to come here.
8:05
Speaker 6: Well, it's necessary because a lot and I say congratulations
8:08
Speaker 6: to Brad and Lee Smith for putting this together. I mean,
8:11
Speaker 6: it's so great to have a successful program that's drawing
8:14
Speaker 6: more people into the state, particularly younger people. And but
8:18
Speaker 6: they have to have broadband access and it can't be
8:20
Speaker 6: just minimal service. A lot of these folks have jobs
8:24
Speaker 6: that they're going to be telecommuting. They have to have
8:26
Speaker 6: full and vibrant service. You know, in Charleston you can
8:30
Speaker 6: go out to Cistinville and start to lose coverage. Uh,
8:33
Speaker 6: and that's just on the outskirts of you know, central Charleston.
8:37
Speaker 6: So it's it's not like we can assume because it's
8:40
Speaker 6: the capital city that everybody in Kanauk County is served,
8:44
Speaker 6: because they aren't. And so I think that's going to
8:46
Speaker 6: be a major, a major part of the ascent program,
8:50
Speaker 6: but also of this bad program that should be bringing
8:52
Speaker 6: the money into into the state.
8:54
Speaker 3: Before we let you go, because I know you're on
8:56
Speaker 3: a tight schedule, I want to go back and I
8:57
Speaker 3: want to ask you you kind of touched on a
8:59
Speaker 3: potential government shutdown and the need to fund the government.
9:03
Speaker 3: I mean, we hear every couple of years, we hear
9:06
Speaker 3: about these things going on. It's almost nonsensical in my
9:09
Speaker 3: eyes and the eyes and ears of a lot of
9:11
Speaker 3: listeners out there, Well, what are we doing to make
9:13
Speaker 3: sure this doesn't happen?
9:15
Speaker 6: I mean, if I was not where I am but
9:18
Speaker 6: just listening to your show, I would be rolling my
9:20
Speaker 6: eyes right now. It's deja vous all over again. It's
9:24
Speaker 6: the same thing of the thread of a government shutdown,
9:27
Speaker 6: and I'm going to do everything I can to prevent that.
9:29
Speaker 6: I've said every single time it's a misery march, it's
9:33
Speaker 6: a road to nowhere. It hurts people, it hurts businesses,
9:36
Speaker 6: it hurts our standing internationally because of the uncertainty. So
9:40
Speaker 6: what we need to do by the end of September
9:42
Speaker 6: is past what's called a continuing resolution while we work
9:45
Speaker 6: these issues out. Our big hope is that we'll have
9:48
Speaker 6: at least three bills in there that we can say
9:51
Speaker 6: are fully accomplished for the twenty twenty six fiscal year.
9:54
Speaker 6: Now that doesn't sound like a whole lot from the outside,
9:56
Speaker 6: but it's three more than we had had over the
9:59
Speaker 6: last several years. So I'm very hopeful there. We're working
10:02
Speaker 6: together across party lines, across the House and Senate, but
10:07
Speaker 6: we've got to get back to regular, regular procedures with appropriations.
10:11
Speaker 6: This is we're on track to be much more functional
10:14
Speaker 6: in that area. That means we can have new starts,
10:17
Speaker 6: we can get rid of programs that are no longer useful,
10:20
Speaker 6: we can hold the line on spending, we can do
10:22
Speaker 6: the priorities that I think and the President thinks are
10:26
Speaker 6: what are in line with the desires of the American people.
10:30
Speaker 6: And so hopefully no shut down September the thirtieth and
10:35
Speaker 6: we'll just continue on here in the next two months
10:37
Speaker 6: to try to wrap the thing up.
10:39

14:09
Speaker 5: It puts a little heat on.
14:10
Speaker 3: Me to make sure well. I think Ryan's on you
14:12
Speaker 3: got to watch for I mean TJ. TJ hides behind
14:16
Speaker 3: the sunglasses. We don't know exactly what's going on in
14:18
Speaker 3: that head.
14:19
Speaker 5: Of his that makes him dangerous.
14:21
Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, look at you. I mean yeah, and he's
14:23
Speaker 3: got him on the got a secret service agent in here.
14:25
Speaker 5: He looks like.
14:26
Speaker 11: I got to gossip with him a little bit. The
14:29
Speaker 11: business summit the Chamber of Commerce puts on a couple
14:31
Speaker 11: of weeks ago, so I got to sit next to
14:33
Speaker 11: him and.
14:33
Speaker 5: Talk for a little bit. So that was nice. Mm
14:34
Speaker 5: hmy got to hear TJ unfiltered for a little while.
14:37
Speaker 3: Tj unfinness. Yeah, tj unfiltered, tj unfilter. It's not a
14:41
Speaker 3: whole lot different than TJ on the air. You know,
14:43
Speaker 3: he s the but anyway, anyway, he's a good guy.
14:46
Speaker 3: Just don't tell him I said that. I hope he's
14:47
Speaker 3: not listening. All right, So you're running for reelection. I
14:50
Speaker 3: guess the official announcement was made. I think everybody kind
14:53
Speaker 3: of expected you would. So what went into the decision
14:57
Speaker 3: to stay where you are in the House of Delegates?
14:59
Speaker 11: Uh, well, I mean number one, it's uh. I just
15:01
Speaker 11: really enjoy working for the people in my district. The
15:05
Speaker 11: best part of the job for me is actually meeting
15:08
Speaker 11: people and talking to them and being face to face
15:10
Speaker 11: with constituents and.
15:12
Speaker 5: You know, a big picture.
15:13
Speaker 11: We can talk about this a little bit more later,
15:15
Speaker 11: but big picture, I really I love and I don't
15:18
Speaker 11: use that word lightly. I love working on economic development
15:20
Speaker 11: issues and trying to attract job greater to this day,
15:23
Speaker 11: or helping businesses who are here expand but helping someone
15:28
Speaker 11: get their road fixed, or you know, helping with some
15:31
Speaker 11: smaller local issue.
15:32
Speaker 5: Uh, just really is satisfying for me as well. And
15:36
Speaker 5: I like I like people. I mean, you run into
15:39
Speaker 5: some knuckleheads every once in a while, Dave.
15:41
Speaker 3: But well, but enough about our building. That's that's right.
15:44
Speaker 11: I mean, I mean outside of this building, everybody's good.
15:46
Speaker 11: So I actually really do enjoy talking to voters. I
15:49
Speaker 11: really do enjoy going to community meetings and being around folks.
15:52
Speaker 5: I just I like people. So it's, you know, one
15:55
Speaker 5: of the main reasons I ran for this job.
15:56
Speaker 11: So that played into it. And then also, you know,
15:59
Speaker 11: I didn't get into politics. I mean I've I've been
16:01
Speaker 11: involved in other people's racism, been around politics for a
16:04
Speaker 11: long time, but I didn't run for office myself until
16:07
Speaker 11: my wife and our kids had gotten older. Our oldest
16:11
Speaker 11: daughter was going to college and our twins are now
16:14
Speaker 11: seniors in high school. So you know, I never would
16:17
Speaker 11: have wanted to have done this when they were you know,
16:19
Speaker 11: much younger and they needed both parents around as much
16:21
Speaker 11: as possible. I think they still need this around, but
16:25
Speaker 11: so you know, they're they're you know, they're more independent now,
16:27
Speaker 11: so that also plays into the decision.
16:29
Speaker 5: And speaking to my.
16:29
Speaker 11: Wife, she just finished a murder trial a couple of
16:32
Speaker 11: days ago, you know, Mary Clareakers. And anyway, my thoughts
16:36
Speaker 11: are still that family. Just terrible set of circumstances.
16:38
Speaker 3: And I said this with that verdict that came out yesterday,
16:40
Speaker 3: and to be honest with you, Delegate, I said this,
16:43
Speaker 3: when the when this horrific crime first took place, I
16:46
Speaker 3: mean three three lives ruined, you.
16:48
Speaker 5: Know, since I mean I can think of say senseless
16:51
Speaker 5: is a good.
16:51
Speaker 3: Way to put it. I mean, and you know, the
16:53
Speaker 3: obviously the store clerk that was that was killed doing
16:57
Speaker 3: and we're talking about the the obviously the situation with
16:59
Speaker 3: the tobacco show up in North Charles with the two teenagers,
17:01
Speaker 3: and the clerk was killed complying doing everything that he
17:05
Speaker 3: was that he was told to do. And now these
17:08
Speaker 3: other two who were tried as adult, you know, mid
17:11
Speaker 3: level teenagers and the guilty murder. They get life sentences
17:14
Speaker 3: with the possibility of parole. Don't know whether that'll happen
17:17
Speaker 3: or not, but either way, and their lives are ruined.
17:19
Speaker 3: Even if they do get the parole, their lives, their
17:21
Speaker 3: lives are ruined. It's totally senseless. But again we're talking
17:25
Speaker 3: with Jaba because you mentioned economic development. He picked up
17:28
Speaker 3: an award. I saw that on the social media. What's
17:30
Speaker 3: that all about?
17:31
Speaker 5: Yeah, that was And I want to talk about this briefly.
17:33
Speaker 11: Not so much for the fact that I got the award,
17:35
Speaker 11: which won't matter to most people, but it was an
17:37
Speaker 11: award from the Manufacturers Association, which is why it makes
17:41
Speaker 11: it important to me. And I think, I mean again,
17:43
Speaker 11: you've got to patch yourself in the back a little
17:45
Speaker 11: bit when you run a for office and tell people
17:46
Speaker 11: you accomplish something, otherwise have now reason to vote for
17:49
Speaker 11: you to keep you in office. So you know, I consistently,
17:53
Speaker 11: ever since I ran the first time, consistently now and
17:57
Speaker 11: always will tell people that my focus is.
17:59
Speaker 5: On you can nomic development and jobs and job creation.
18:02
Speaker 11: And one of the ways I think that you prove
18:04
Speaker 11: that you mean that is through the recognition of people
18:08
Speaker 11: who are job creators. The Manufacturers Association West Virginia is
18:12
Speaker 11: an extremely important group that represent people from like a
18:15
Speaker 11: really small bomb and shop, you know, manufacturers who might
18:18
Speaker 11: make just one small product up to extremely large you know,
18:22
Speaker 11: multinational corporations who have a presence in West Virginia are
18:25
Speaker 11: also a part of that organization. So I got one
18:28
Speaker 11: of their annual legislator awards a few days ago. So
18:31
Speaker 11: did Senator Robbie Morris here in West Virginia. Then and
18:34
Speaker 11: a lot who's the House communications director, got a staff award,
18:37
Speaker 11: which was also nice to see. But that award is
18:39
Speaker 11: given out to you know, I'm not on their board,
18:42
Speaker 11: but it's it's their board's way of saying, these are
18:45
Speaker 11: legislators who we believe are have their eye on the
18:47
Speaker 11: ball and the right issues, which is economic development and
18:50
Speaker 11: job creation. So that's an award that again, when I
18:54
Speaker 11: tell people that's the focus of what I do, that's
18:57
Speaker 11: a way for me to say, Look, that's not just
18:59
Speaker 11: me saying it. There's least some recognition there that I
19:01
Speaker 11: am one hundred percent focused on job creation in the
19:04
Speaker 11: economy of the state, which has got to get better
19:06
Speaker 11: and we've got to make to me, the business of
19:08
Speaker 11: our legislature has to be about business.
19:12
Speaker 3: But this last session, you know, and I know you're
19:14
Speaker 3: just one, You're just one of one hundred. There a
19:17
Speaker 3: lot of focus on things. And I'm talking and when
19:20
Speaker 3: you talk to people like maybe maybe the Chamber of
19:22
Speaker 3: Commerce or maybe some of those groups like that, some
19:26
Speaker 3: pretty conservative Republicans will say that not a whole lot
19:28
Speaker 3: got done. Yeah, I mean, listen, when it comes to business.
19:31
Speaker 5: Yes, I mean there was.
19:32
Speaker 11: I'm one who will say there was some frustration from
19:34
Speaker 11: me on that. But I'm also not going to say
19:36
Speaker 11: we got nothing done. You know, the House Bill twenty fourteen,
19:40
Speaker 11: which has been talked about before it to Mike ur
19:42
Speaker 11: Griz bill I think has a huge amount of potential
19:44
Speaker 11: for the state, the one stop you know licensing, the
19:48
Speaker 11: universal Licensing Bill. You know, we had some things that
19:51
Speaker 11: were definitely business oriented, so we got some stuff done.
19:55
Speaker 11: You know, the issues they're more the cultural issues always
19:58
Speaker 11: draw in more of the media attention. But I will
20:01
Speaker 11: say we probably did have more of that than if
20:04
Speaker 11: you're asking me that I'm comfortable with as as it
20:07
Speaker 11: opposed to focusing on things that are purely about making
20:11
Speaker 11: the average West Virginia's life better through their you know,
20:14
Speaker 11: economic prosperity. You know, if I could personally work only
20:17
Speaker 11: on economic issues every day, then that is what.
20:20
Speaker 5: I would do.
20:20
Speaker 3: So talking with Della Goad jb Acres, It's nine twenty
20:23
Speaker 3: seven the Dave Allen showing five Any Live brought to
20:26
Speaker 3: you in part by Husband's Pizza. This month gets several
20:28
Speaker 3: large at and che Pepperoni pizza and an order of
20:30
Speaker 3: six meet malls. Twenty four ninety nine died in delivery
20:33
Speaker 3: pickup visit Husband's Pizza dot Com, which just came off
20:36
Speaker 3: interims a couple of days ago, and there were there
20:39
Speaker 3: was a lot of hope in a lot of people's
20:41
Speaker 3: eyes going back a couple of weeks ago that maybe
20:43
Speaker 3: while the legislators were in town we might get into
20:46
Speaker 3: a special session about Peia. Didn't have.
20:49
Speaker 5: Do you think there was really a lot of hope
20:50
Speaker 5: from a lot of people that we'd have a special session.
20:52
Speaker 5: I don't know.
20:53
Speaker 3: I think I think to get something worked out about Peia.
20:55
Speaker 11: There was probably, yeah, I mean we obviously that's something
20:58
Speaker 11: we've got to figure out long term for our state
21:00
Speaker 11: employees and anyone who's on PA to make sure that's
21:02
Speaker 11: a stable and sustainable program. But you know, it didn't
21:05
Speaker 11: seem like there was a consensus on what to do,
21:07
Speaker 11: so a special session probably wasn't the best thing at
21:09
Speaker 11: this time. We did still have interims and for folks
21:12
Speaker 11: you know, who aren't real familiar with interim process, we
21:15
Speaker 11: don't take votes on issues during interims. Those are more
21:17
Speaker 11: educational sessions for the members, which is good. I mean
21:20
Speaker 11: they believe it or not, some of us actually want
21:22
Speaker 11: to understand and what we're voting on.
21:24
Speaker 5: Wants to get to a regular session.
21:25
Speaker 3: What a novel concept.
21:26
Speaker 11: Yeah, So interims are more of a time when we
21:28
Speaker 11: have people coming and present on important issues. These are
21:31
Speaker 11: things that may turn to bills later. So in my
21:33
Speaker 11: particular committee, I'm the House Judiciary Chairman, which is you know,
21:37
Speaker 11: not pat myself in the bike. It's an important job
21:39
Speaker 11: over there. And we had interim sessions on you know
21:43
Speaker 11: that My committee deals a lot with courts issues, for example,
21:46
Speaker 11: so we dealt with or took a look at day reports, centers,
21:49
Speaker 11: community corrections, alternative sentencing, which is important in a lot
21:52
Speaker 11: of different ways. County jail bills in West Virginia are
21:55
Speaker 11: exploding a lot of counties. You've heard this camp can't
21:58
Speaker 11: even afford their jail bill. So I'm taking a hard
22:01
Speaker 11: look at ways that we can.
22:03
Speaker 2: Uh.
22:03
Speaker 11: You know, not everybody should go to jail for every crime.
22:06
Speaker 11: I mean, you got to be held accountable for sure.
22:08
Speaker 11: But we have existing community corrections right now. These day
22:11
Speaker 11: report centers are important part of it. So if we
22:13
Speaker 11: can keep people out in society while being held accountable,
22:16
Speaker 11: but they are still productive. Uh, And we're reducing the
22:19
Speaker 11: county jail bills, if there's a balance there that we
22:21
Speaker 11: can obtain, then we need to maximize that as best
22:23
Speaker 11: we can.
22:24
Speaker 3: I mean we don't. I think sometimes live it in
22:27
Speaker 3: you know, areas that aren't doing too badly, like a
22:30
Speaker 3: Canawa County or Poddam County or somewhere or Arount Cabal
22:33
Speaker 3: County or in this general area. Get into some of
22:35
Speaker 3: these counties. I mean, like, and I'm not picking on
22:37
Speaker 3: these people because it's not their fault, but at Clay County,
22:39
Speaker 3: Work County, Calhoun County, they have a choice pretty much
22:43
Speaker 3: when it comes to their jail bill. Do we pay
22:46
Speaker 3: the jail bill or do we pay the power bill?
22:48
Speaker 3: I mean, and I mean this thing just keeps going
22:52
Speaker 3: up and up and up, and I don't know what
22:53
Speaker 3: the answer is, because crime is not going to stop.
22:56
Speaker 5: Yeah.
22:56
Speaker 11: Well, and you know, again, just so people understand when
22:58
Speaker 11: I talk about, you know, maybe community corrections, we're talking
23:01
Speaker 11: about from non violent offenders who haven't you know, done
23:04
Speaker 11: anything that's hurt anyone else. These are you know, So
23:07
Speaker 11: if someone's a violand offender, I'm like, yeah, send them
23:09
Speaker 11: straight to jail. Obviously, that's that's a no brainer. But
23:12
Speaker 11: you know, some of these people who are just caught
23:14
Speaker 11: up strictly in terms of like substance abuse for example,
23:17
Speaker 11: and you know, they're not drug dealers, but they get
23:19
Speaker 11: caught with drugs and they're going to potentially want up
23:22
Speaker 11: in jail. I mean to me, you know, get this
23:24
Speaker 11: people and some sort of you know, make sure they
23:26
Speaker 11: can still maintain a job if possible, you know, make
23:29
Speaker 11: sure they can still pay to take care of their
23:31
Speaker 11: kids and their family and other things that are important,
23:33
Speaker 11: because otherwise they just want.
23:34
Speaker 5: Up potentially reoffending later.
23:36
Speaker 11: So and again, like you said, some of these these
23:39
Speaker 11: rural counties, they literally cannot afford their jail bill right now.
23:42
Speaker 11: So we've got to think a ways to alleviate that
23:44
Speaker 11: pressure while still also holding people accountable, so.
23:48
Speaker 3: Out of a texture, thank you for you, It says,
23:51
Speaker 3: I wanted to say thank you for quickly arranging the
23:55
Speaker 3: FEMA information meeting their Allen Creek for the twenty twenty
23:58
Speaker 3: four April floods Texas. Is I just live. I live
24:02
Speaker 3: past South Ridge in in April, those rushing floodwaters took
24:05
Speaker 3: out supports under our driveway bridge. We had no idea
24:07
Speaker 3: would even start to reach out for help until we
24:09
Speaker 3: heard the notice on this station. Pat on the back
24:11
Speaker 3: for us that you had put the meeting together. That
24:15
Speaker 3: meaning you. They helped us so much we were approved
24:17
Speaker 3: for funding, got the bridge supports place. Thank you again, sir.
24:20
Speaker 3: It's the small things to make the biggest impact to others.
24:22
Speaker 11: Oh well, that is that's extremely nice. You know, sometimes
24:25
Speaker 11: you get text Davy. You might get some after I
24:27
Speaker 11: leave that aren't so nice, but that one is. Whoever,
24:29
Speaker 11: that texture was, thank you so much.
24:31
Speaker 12: You know.
24:31
Speaker 11: I don't do this for recognition, but I said when
24:33
Speaker 11: I first came on today that that's one of the
24:35
Speaker 11: reasons why I like being in office is helping people
24:37
Speaker 11: in those situations. And so that that was a good meeting,
24:40
Speaker 11: and that that's from a part of the county in
24:42
Speaker 11: my district. My district is about half of it is
24:44
Speaker 11: part of Charleston. The other half is really mostly almost
24:48
Speaker 11: all of southern Kenal County, which is more rural, and
24:51
Speaker 11: a lot of those communities get forgotten, and I think
24:54
Speaker 11: they feel that way, so I try to emphasize and
24:56
Speaker 11: make sure they know they're not forgotten. And that was
24:58
Speaker 11: an example of one where I didn't ask them to
25:00
Speaker 11: come to me. I went to them on that issue
25:03
Speaker 11: and I organized. We had I don't know a dozen
25:05
Speaker 11: different people there who were able to provide help and services,
25:08
Speaker 11: and I said, let's take these people into the community
25:10
Speaker 11: that's affected, not make them driving to Charleston for this,
25:13
Speaker 11: So that's take it to them.
25:14
Speaker 5: Yeah, that's right. I thought that was important, and thank
25:15
Speaker 5: you to that. Texture.
25:17
Speaker 3: We had another one here for you that wanted me
25:20
Speaker 3: to ask you about helping make our schools more safer
25:23
Speaker 3: and maybe doing some policies that would produce severe penalties
25:25
Speaker 3: for harming our students, teachers, and staff.
25:27
Speaker 5: Yeah. Well, I mean we have.
25:29
Speaker 11: That's one thing the legislature has done the past couple
25:32
Speaker 11: of years i've been there, including this past session, is
25:34
Speaker 11: we have increased penalties for violence against children. That is
25:38
Speaker 11: something that I'm not going to apologize for. I'm in
25:40
Speaker 11: favor of those types of penalties. I mean, we talk
25:43
Speaker 11: about alternative sentenzing for non violent offenders, but crimes against
25:46
Speaker 11: children we've seen increased penalties, and in terms of school safety,
25:49
Speaker 11: that's actually very timely for me. Right now, I can't
25:52
Speaker 11: promise this will happen, but I have been working the
25:55
Speaker 11: past couple of weeks legitimately on trying to increase the
26:01
Speaker 11: communications capacity at our schools in the event that there
26:03
Speaker 11: is an emergency situation. That's something that I've talked to
26:06
Speaker 11: our county Sheriff Joey Crawford on also some people from
26:10
Speaker 11: some other first responders responder services, and not sure yet
26:14
Speaker 11: if we'll get the funding for that, but I have
26:16
Speaker 11: been working on that, and Sheriff Crawford's great by the way.
26:18
Speaker 11: I've been trying to work with them on a way
26:20
Speaker 11: to make sure that our communications systems and our schools
26:23
Speaker 11: when there's an emergency is it's ironclad and works no
26:26
Speaker 11: matter what, when you might have people making a million
26:28
Speaker 11: phone calls in a community to find out what's going on.
26:30
Speaker 5: So that is something I'm glad that text brought that up.
26:33
Speaker 5: I didn't intend to talk about that today, but I'm
26:35
Speaker 5: trying hard to work on those issues as well.
26:37
Speaker 3: Talking to give a Dell a good Jbiacres before we
26:39
Speaker 3: let you go. We don't know, I mean, it's still
26:42
Speaker 3: early on. We don't know whether you'll have opposition in
26:45
Speaker 3: the primary, more than likely have opposition in the general
26:49
Speaker 3: action next year. What do you want people to know
26:51
Speaker 3: about about your term and at you about your time
26:54
Speaker 3: and off.
26:55
Speaker 11: I want people to know that I'm always accessible. I
26:57
Speaker 11: always return phone calls and emails, even during session when
27:01
Speaker 11: things get kind of crazy. And you know, I mean,
27:04
Speaker 11: you know, I'm in a party. I'm a Republican. You've
27:05
Speaker 11: got to run with a party label. But I don't
27:07
Speaker 11: ask people what their politics are when I talk to them.
27:10
Speaker 11: I could care less whether you're a Democrat Republican. You
27:13
Speaker 11: can look at my social media when I get off
27:15
Speaker 11: here and see that I'm not someone who's a negative
27:17
Speaker 11: person about politics. I try to always post positive news
27:20
Speaker 11: and tell people what's going on. So I'm here to
27:23
Speaker 11: represent everybody who may need my help, and I'm proud
27:28
Speaker 11: to be, you know, in this district. So I think
27:30
Speaker 11: that's the most important thing is just making sure that
27:33
Speaker 11: you know, as tribal and as negative as politics can
27:36
Speaker 11: be these days, you know I'm going to maintain a
27:38
Speaker 11: positive presence and I'm going to help you no matter
27:40
Speaker 11: who you are, and if you need me, I'm going
27:42
Speaker 11: to talk to you.
27:43
Speaker 5: And that's just who I am.
27:45
Speaker 11: And home always going to be and I'm going to
27:46
Speaker 11: work every single day that I can to make your
27:48
Speaker 11: economic life better in the state and try to figure
27:51
Speaker 11: out ways to make sure that our kids and our
27:53
Speaker 11: grandkids can either stay here or come by home and work.
27:56
Speaker 3: Delli good jb Acres, and I'll be looking through the
27:58
Speaker 3: glass in here, and when you look up the term
28:01
Speaker 3: worst retiree ever, our former general manager who's also in
28:05
Speaker 3: the House of Deligates, Joe Parsons Greats, showed up here.
28:07
Speaker 3: He's been here two days in a row and he retired,
28:10
Speaker 3: but he's getting two days in a row.
28:12
Speaker 11: He'll never be retired. He's one of those guys. He'll
28:14
Speaker 11: never give it up. So he's another great guy. People
28:17
Speaker 11: in his district very fortunate to have him, just like
28:19
Speaker 11: he's another very positive person as.
28:21
Speaker 3: Well, and he does but I will say this about him,
28:23
Speaker 3: he does address a little bit differently than what he
28:25
Speaker 3: was when he was here.
28:25
Speaker 5: Full he's entitled to do that.
28:26
Speaker 3: He's entitled to do that. He's earned it. He's earned it.
28:29
Speaker 3: Deligaan Aker's always a pleasure to talk to you, man,
28:31
Speaker 3: We'll talk to Thanks a lot, Thanks for your time.
28:33
Speaker 3: But Dave Island showing five Any Lives brought to you

31:59
Speaker 3: it from Patriot Gardens. Good morning, welcome to the show.
32:02
Speaker 5: Good morning, Thank you for being here, first time on
32:05
Speaker 5: the show. Yes, it is right.
32:07
Speaker 3: Tell me what Patriot Gardens it coming that microphone a
32:09
Speaker 3: little bit closer. Tell me what Patriot Gardens is.
32:11
Speaker 15: Patriot Gardens is a program out of the West Virginia
32:14
Speaker 15: National Guard military Authority the state side where we work
32:19
Speaker 15: with our veteran and military members and their families, trying
32:22
Speaker 15: to help them learn not only agricultural I guess practices,
32:30
Speaker 15: but also look at entrepreneurial opportunities while they're in uniform
32:35
Speaker 15: or even in retirement.
32:37
Speaker 3: I actually got very familiar with this program when in
32:42
Speaker 3: a former life when I was working at SEE government
32:44
Speaker 3: with the Secretary of State's office, and I remember we
32:47
Speaker 3: had done I think we'd done some more. It's a
32:49
Speaker 3: fantastic program. Talk about how it works.
32:53
Speaker 5: How it works.
32:53
Speaker 15: So we look at first and foremost our National Guard members,
32:58
Speaker 15: trying to see where there are a lot of them are,
33:02
Speaker 15: you know, five ten years out from retirement, so they're
33:05
Speaker 15: trying to figure out what in retirement they want to do.
33:09
Speaker 15: As an ag based program, of course we see the
33:12
Speaker 15: benefits of agriculture for peace of mind, you know, a
33:16
Speaker 15: diversion from real life at times we all do that,
33:19
Speaker 15: go out in our gardens. So trying to show them
33:23
Speaker 15: what self sufficiency could look like for their own family,
33:26
Speaker 15: but it quickly stares stepped into is this something that
33:30
Speaker 15: could be a retirement or a side hustle. A lot
33:34
Speaker 15: of them looking toward retirement or thinking about how do
33:38
Speaker 15: they continue to serve?
33:39
Speaker 14: So to us.
33:41
Speaker 15: The best way to serve is they help feed people,
33:43
Speaker 15: to help take care of your own family, and actually
33:46
Speaker 15: engage back in the community. And this is a program
33:49
Speaker 15: that helps them really start to reintegrate even.
33:52
Speaker 3: And you see, I would think that if somebody is
33:56
Speaker 3: a good military person, that they I mean, you know,
34:00
Speaker 3: if you're in the military and you're good at what
34:01
Speaker 3: you do, you tend to be very meticulous. You tend
34:05
Speaker 3: to be I mean, I'm a son of veteran. I
34:06
Speaker 3: know what my father was like. You know, everything's about time,
34:09
Speaker 3: everything's about doing things just right. I would think that
34:12
Speaker 3: would that that would lend itself very helpful to what
34:16
Speaker 3: you're doing here exactly.
34:18
Speaker 15: And that's kind of some of our things that we
34:21
Speaker 15: have found is that meticulous nature, especially when you're you're
34:26
Speaker 15: catering to the needs of plants and animals, being on
34:29
Speaker 15: a schedule, being able to look and fine tune some things,
34:34
Speaker 15: when you're looking at the quality of what you're producing,
34:37
Speaker 15: what you're growing, that attention to detail. A lot of
34:40
Speaker 15: times in our civilian culture we're not as on top
34:44
Speaker 15: of it. When you bring in the military brain. They
34:48
Speaker 15: are so procedural in nature. It has been an amazing blend,
34:52
Speaker 15: and we've seen really it help on our local food's
34:56
Speaker 15: economy here in the state, getting some of these individuals
34:59
Speaker 15: to become the those producers with high quality produce and
35:04
Speaker 15: feeding into our local restaurants or other established How does.
35:07
Speaker 3: That work that you deal with our local restaurants.
35:10
Speaker 15: We have been blessed with the likes of Chef Paul
35:13
Speaker 15: and Chef Chase with a Bruisy in ten ten. They
35:17
Speaker 15: came on board from the beginning, and so we've been
35:21
Speaker 15: trying to not only on our side do production out
35:25
Speaker 15: of our urban farm and illustrate what the market opportunity
35:29
Speaker 15: is for many products that the chefs haven't been able
35:32
Speaker 15: to find here locally, but then take it the step
35:36
Speaker 15: further and teach our participants how to grow these things,
35:40
Speaker 15: and then the chefs buy directly from them. So we're
35:43
Speaker 15: kind of starting a streamlined approach of Hey, Chef Chase
35:48
Speaker 15: wants whatever it might be, then we connect a grower
35:52
Speaker 15: to be then that person who grows it and sells.
35:54
Speaker 5: It back to the restaurant.
35:56
Speaker 3: Got a question here for you an of the text line,
35:58
Speaker 3: does this agriculture program for National Guard members also extend
36:01
Speaker 3: active duty members who return home to West Virginia after
36:04
Speaker 3: their service.
36:04
Speaker 15: Exactly. The procedure we're looking for is anybody who has
36:11
Speaker 15: a military affiliation cleared down to what we say, one up,
36:15
Speaker 15: one down. So if you're if your parents served, or
36:18
Speaker 15: if your child serves, we see that as military family.
36:23
Speaker 15: So trying to embrace the entire military culture in the
36:26
Speaker 15: state and bring everybody together around that that gift the
36:31
Speaker 15: service type mindset.
36:32
Speaker 3: So yes, anybody talking with Melissa Stewart again from Patriot Gardens,
36:36
Speaker 3: The Dave Allen Show and five eighty Line brought to

36:44
Speaker 3: Understand you picked up an award.
36:46
Speaker 14: We did.
36:46
Speaker 15: We were honored, to say the least, that the Charleston
36:50
Speaker 15: Area Alliance chose us to be. Let me get the
36:53
Speaker 15: name here. We received the Jeff Miller Sustainable Development Award
36:57
Speaker 15: last night.
36:58
Speaker 3: Okay, and what does that And.
37:00
Speaker 15: That was looking at sustainability in what is being developed
37:06
Speaker 15: through our program and really more back to our base
37:11
Speaker 15: innovations there on Smith Street.
37:13
Speaker 3: Right across from Capital to get into that.
37:14
Speaker 15: Yeah, Okay, since we've been more embedded in the community,
37:19
Speaker 15: I think that is showing some positive attributes to our
37:24
Speaker 15: program and how we can engage outside of just simply
37:28
Speaker 15: the national garden our military.
37:31
Speaker 3: All right, let's talk about this Base Innovations.
37:34
Speaker 5: Okay, go ahead, explain it.
37:36
Speaker 15: So Base Innovations it initially spurred out of the mindset
37:41
Speaker 15: of small business development and how can we help any
37:45
Speaker 15: of our aspiring service members really go into small business ownership.
37:53
Speaker 15: So we have a fifteen part or a twelve part
37:55
Speaker 15: series excuse me, that really handholds them through that process.
38:01
Speaker 15: So at the end of it, they have a business plan,
38:03
Speaker 15: they're ready to go to the one stop shop and
38:06
Speaker 15: actually become a LLC or whatever it may be that
38:11
Speaker 15: they've determined. With that, we also are putting in a
38:15
Speaker 15: small commercial kitchen, so we've been working with ZMM. They
38:20
Speaker 15: have our design contract and we're getting ready to put
38:24
Speaker 15: it out for bid for construction. So with that said,
38:28
Speaker 15: any of our entrepreneurs that are looking at value added production,
38:32
Speaker 15: then we'll be able to utilize this kitchen to then
38:36
Speaker 15: go from cottage industry to full fledged production.
38:40
Speaker 3: And that's an incredible idea, it really is.
38:43
Speaker 15: We're excited about it. It was made possible through Capito
38:48
Speaker 15: and actually a Congressional direct spending appropriation, so to be
38:54
Speaker 15: able to see this come into fruition and how it's
38:56
Speaker 15: going to help our participants and then others too. It
38:59
Speaker 15: doesn't have to just be a military service member who
39:02
Speaker 15: can utilize this.
39:03
Speaker 3: Before we let you go, you don't have to mention
39:06
Speaker 3: a name, but I want you to give me, off
39:08
Speaker 3: the top of your head a true one of your
39:10
Speaker 3: one or two true success stories that you've seen with
39:13
Speaker 3: this program. Again, no names needed, and I know you've
39:15
Speaker 3: probably got plenty, but just give me one that really
39:19
Speaker 3: sticks out as a selling point for this program.
39:21
Speaker 15: Okay, we have a military family that actually homeschools their
39:26
Speaker 15: their kids and the husband is still active Guard and
39:32
Speaker 15: the wife is retired military and they, I think embody
39:39
Speaker 15: everything that this program brings to the table. They engage
39:46
Speaker 15: not only in our education and bring their kids along,
39:50
Speaker 15: but they also then participate in our market, the pop
39:53
Speaker 15: up market across the street there at Capital Market, and
39:59
Speaker 15: I think they show how this program can help take
40:03
Speaker 15: somebody to that next level.
40:04
Speaker 3: It's good stuff. Remind people where they can learn more. Website,
40:09
Speaker 3: social media, We're can pete people learn more about we.
40:11
Speaker 15: Are on Facebook under Patriot gardens. Now it's gardens spelled
40:15
Speaker 15: not like gardens, but the guard.
40:16
Speaker 3: So it's g U A r D E n s.
40:20
Speaker 15: And we have a website at Patriot Gardens.
40:25

40:27
Speaker 3: I mean, not not garden, but.
40:29

44:37
Speaker 3: Ashley as my brother is because I don't have a brother,
44:39
Speaker 3: and she and I have been friends for quite a
44:41
Speaker 3: number of years, and I always thought of her as
44:43
Speaker 3: the little brother I never had nor wanted. So that's
44:46
Speaker 3: why she'll always be brother Ashley to me.
44:49
Speaker 16: Well, I appreciate that, Dave. I think our brotherhood is

Speaker 3: Because I mean, I know this has been going on
45:02
Speaker 3: to Putnam County through the Chamber of Commerce and other
45:05
Speaker 3: entities for some time under the Treasure's Office is involved
45:08
Speaker 3: in this, but talk about how long the program has
45:10
Speaker 3: been going on and exactly.
45:11
Speaker 15: What it is.
45:12
Speaker 16: Yeah, So Get a Life program is actually a program
45:15
Speaker 16: through the West Virginia Treasurer's Office, and it's been going
45:18
Speaker 16: on for quite some time. I'm not exactly sure how long.
45:20
Speaker 16: But here in Putnam County, we partner with the Treasure's
45:24
Speaker 16: Office as well as the Putnam County Schools to deliver
45:27
Speaker 16: this program to all of our eighth grade students. And
45:32
Speaker 16: this program is really great because it teaches our students
45:36
Speaker 16: how to budget. That's something that's not taught, you know,
45:39
Speaker 16: every single day in our school system, and things that
45:42
Speaker 16: kids don't necessarily think about and so through this program
45:46
Speaker 16: they are able to see, you know, how much it
45:49
Speaker 16: actually costs to live, and what the price of housing
45:53
Speaker 16: is and cars and insurance and how much the gas
45:56
Speaker 16: that car you bought is and all of that. And
45:58
Speaker 16: so they go around a different during the activity. They
46:02
Speaker 16: go around to different booths and they are given a
46:04
Speaker 16: budget and a ledger sheet and they have to actually
46:07
Speaker 16: buy all of those things and then figure out how
46:10
Speaker 16: to use the money that they're allocated properly. And so
46:14
Speaker 16: it's really eye opening for a lot of the students
46:17
Speaker 16: and our chamber members volunteer at the event and always
46:22
Speaker 16: have a great time.
46:23
Speaker 3: And I've done this program in the past and it
46:26
Speaker 3: really is interesting because again, as Ashley said, you know,
46:30
Speaker 3: they bring in these middle schools that they and I'm
46:33
Speaker 3: assuming it's going to be at the Armory again, is
46:34
Speaker 3: that what you said?
46:36
Speaker 16: Yeah, so it's at the Armory. So this program is
46:38
Speaker 16: available statewide and anybody that's interested in getting a part
46:41
Speaker 16: of it can contact the Treasurer's office. But how we
46:44
Speaker 16: do it here in Pundham County is we bust all
46:47
Speaker 16: of our eighth graders over two different days over to
46:50
Speaker 16: the Armory and our volunteers join us there and then
46:54
Speaker 16: the kids come over as a little field trip, they
46:56
Speaker 16: participate in the program, and then we send them on
46:59
Speaker 16: back back to school. But we're able to take all
47:02
Speaker 16: eight hundred ish approximately. I don't know the exact number
47:05
Speaker 16: of eighth graders we have in Putnam County this year,
47:07
Speaker 16: but as you know, it's close to eight hundred through
47:11
Speaker 16: the program over those two days. So it is we're
47:15
Speaker 16: really grateful for the Armory for allowing us to utilize
47:18
Speaker 16: the space, and for Putnam County Schools for being on
47:20
Speaker 16: board with this program because they handle all the logistics
47:23
Speaker 16: of getting the students over to the activity.
47:26
Speaker 3: And so I'll tell you one of my most memorable
47:32
Speaker 3: moments that I had in to get a life program,
47:34
Speaker 3: and this is that I did this for several years,
47:37
Speaker 3: was you know. And the way it works is again people,
47:39
Speaker 3: these kids, as you said, they go table to table
47:41
Speaker 3: and they have to buy life insurance, they have to
47:43
Speaker 3: buy a car, and we give and you give everybody
47:46
Speaker 3: a lot in life. Okay, you're a single mom, next
47:49
Speaker 3: kid may be Okay, you are a male married to
47:54
Speaker 3: you know your wife, and you got four kids and
47:56
Speaker 3: you have a college education. The next one has a
47:58
Speaker 3: high school education, next one has a PhD. And it
48:01
Speaker 3: kind of gives them an idea. But the one memorable
48:04
Speaker 3: thing that I remember is the one kid that looked
48:06
Speaker 3: at me, I don't know, five six years ago and
48:08
Speaker 3: I did this with you and the kid said, you know,
48:10
Speaker 3: he was like, man, now know why my parents are
48:12
Speaker 3: always in such a bad mood? And I thought that
48:15
Speaker 3: was great. That was great. Let's talk about when it is,
48:19
Speaker 3: where it is, and how people can get involved.
48:22
Speaker 4: Yeah.
48:22
Speaker 16: So every year, like I said, the Putnam County Chamber
48:24
Speaker 16: partners with the Treasurer's Office and Putnam County Schools to
48:28
Speaker 16: do a two day event. It'll be September sixteenth and
48:31
Speaker 16: September seventeenth. And if you are looking to get involved
48:35
Speaker 16: and volunteer at this activity with us on one of
48:38
Speaker 16: the one or both of those days, you just email
48:41
Speaker 16: us or give us a call here at the Chamber.
48:42
Speaker 16: We'd love to get you signed up about a eight
48:45
Speaker 16: am to a two pm commitment both days, and you
48:49
Speaker 16: can volunteer for one or both. And it's, like I said,
48:52
Speaker 16: the sixteenth and the seventeenth over at the Joint Forces
48:56
Speaker 16: Reserve Center of the Armory as people call it in l.
49:00
Speaker 3: Yeah, and it's and you're very very good about the
49:02
Speaker 3: scheduling too, because I mean I've known people in the
49:05
Speaker 3: past that said, well, you know, I will be there
49:06
Speaker 3: as soon as I can. I'll be there at at
49:08
Speaker 3: ten or eleven and I could jump in, or I
49:10
Speaker 3: could be there both days and I could. It really
49:12
Speaker 3: is a good time. And you know, without the buy
49:14
Speaker 3: in from the community, obviously this wouldn't happen. And you
49:16
Speaker 3: always have a great bank of volunteers, not only Puttnham
49:19
Speaker 3: County but in the surrounding areas. And they do it
49:21
Speaker 3: in other counties as well, because I've also done it
49:23
Speaker 3: in Knall County in the past too. Give me your
49:25
Speaker 3: phone number again, Ashley.
49:27
Speaker 16: Yeah, three, four, seven, five one zero, all right.
49:31
Speaker 3: Look forward to it. I wish I could make it,
49:33
Speaker 3: but they tie me to this radio board now, you know,
49:35
Speaker 3: seven or.
49:35
Speaker 16: Eight hours a day. So real job I got.
49:38
Speaker 3: I always had a real job. Come on, come on brother,
49:41
Speaker 3: all right, Ashley, we'll talk again soon. Thanks a lot,
49:44
Speaker 3: all right, I have a great day.
49:45
Speaker 16: Thanks Dave you as well.

50:17
Speaker 3: of other stuff too. Metro News Midday powered by Selango
50:20
Speaker 3: Law with thirteen News and Tonight Live of anchor Amanda
50:22
Speaker 3: Baron and Me coming up new Twral three today on
50:24
Speaker 3: the local show Tomorrow, We're going to talk to Hurricane
50:27
Speaker 3: Mayor Scott Edwards. He was my feature on Mayor Monday
50:30
Speaker 3: that we do on Metro News Midday and a lot
50:32
Speaker 3: of big things going on over in Hurricane and he
50:37
Speaker 3: dropped a big bombshell on us on the Mayor Monday
50:39
Speaker 3: segment the other day about this huge outdoors event. And
50:42
Speaker 3: again I'm having to do the homework on this. It's
50:46
Speaker 3: going to be coming in the I think, I want
50:47
Speaker 3: to say next month to hurricane this major social media
50:52
Speaker 3: influencers coming in and everybody, and of course I rely
50:55
Speaker 3: on other people to tell me about these things. But
50:57
Speaker 3: we're going to talk to him about that. All the
50:59
Speaker 3: thing I know is lot of people in Putnam County
51:01
Speaker 3: are excited about this person coming to town, whoever they are.
51:03
Speaker 3: We'll talk about it with the mayor tomorrow and get
51:06
Speaker 3: the latest on some further development going out of Putnam
51:09
Speaker 3: County as well. Let mean not I got a couple
51:11
Speaker 3: of texts here, Tex says Dave Florida guy here, if
51:14
Speaker 3: the races were reversed in the Charlotte train stabbage, Charlotte,
51:18
Speaker 3: North Carolina would be in flames and Al Sharpton had
51:20
Speaker 3: been cromp. Democrat, liberals and fake news media would be
51:23
Speaker 3: on a war lot of war footing selective outrage. Every
51:26
Speaker 3: time I know the story, I'm familiar with it. I
51:29
Speaker 3: will get into it as best I can at a
51:31
Speaker 3: later time. But yeah, my wife was actually briefing me
51:34
Speaker 3: on this story last night. It's a horrible story. That
51:37
Speaker 3: happened in Charlotte, and I think you probably have all
51:41
Speaker 3: seen it by now. Texas, Dave, I I've lost confidence
51:44
Speaker 3: in the GOP. They are worse than the Democrats. Economies
51:46
Speaker 3: hit rock bottom, and freedoms are being taken away. Independence
51:50
Speaker 3: for change, Texas. Some kids problem is they have what
51:53
Speaker 3: my father called champagne tastes on a beer budget. Do
51:56
Speaker 3: you throw impulse items during the outing, tempted to buy
51:59
Speaker 3: it or pay your bill? That's actually one of the
52:01
Speaker 3: things that because you know, when you're thirteen fourteen year
52:05
Speaker 3: old kid, especially a boy, not trying to stereotype, because
52:07
Speaker 3: there's girls that think that way as well. They want
52:09
Speaker 3: that big, expensive car, and so yeah, this is get
52:12
Speaker 3: a Life program. Let's say, you know, I used to
52:14
Speaker 3: sell cars. That's what I did as part of my
52:17
Speaker 3: role play there. I'd say, yeah, you need to seventy
52:19
Speaker 3: five thousand dollars car out a twenty thousand dollars budget,
52:22
Speaker 3: and the boys would fall for it every day. Time,
52:25
Speaker 3: TJ Quickly, what you got coming up on the show.
52:28
Speaker 7: Today, Hoppy at ten oh six, Coming up an eleven, Dave,
