Transcript
- 0:25Welcome into the Treehouse. I'm Danielmalley, joined by Trey Trent Home and by
- 0:33another friend of this here show and at one time associate producer and foot tender,
- 0:43Jerry Caldwell. Good afternoon, gentlemen. Jerry's good to have you in
- 0:48the Treehouse again, my friend. Yeah, it's good to be here.
- 0:51So I've mentioned this before. We mentioned it when we did the road show
- 0:55at Tody's in Bedford back in April. Trey, you had told me that
- 0:59you actually your time with Jerry never overlapped, and you and I Trey talked
- 1:03about this a couple episodes ago, and I just take for granted so many
- 1:07things in the Treehouse that I shouldn't and that is that with all this,
- 1:11all all the different amazing casts of characters that the show has employed over the
- 1:17years, not everyone has overlapped at given times. You left the show in
- 1:23at the end of twenty twelve, and Jerry, you were brought on sort
- 1:26of not to replace Trey, but to just kind of fill a role because
- 1:32when Trey left, everything got readjusted as far as the show structure, and
- 1:37so Jerry was brought on. Who was who came first, Kinsey or Jerry
- 1:44Kinsey technically Okay, so that wasn't warm Jerry. It was me technically,
- 1:51but I didn't get brought in because Kensey showed up. So when Rust decided
- 1:57he wanted to I was doing an internet a live in a TV show that
- 2:01other certain people had become aware of and started watching other people that was currently
- 2:08on the show. Yes, gotcha. Um. So when Russ decided he
- 2:15wanted to start doing live video streaming out of the studio, he contacted me,
- 2:23and I'm the one that helped us design the setup to you know,
- 2:29find the TriCaster and do all that stuff and get all all that all the
- 2:32video that we did for the radio show. Yeah, exactly. And then
- 2:38I was supposed to come in and operate it after he got all that put
- 2:40together. Came in and I helped him like tweak some stuff one day after
- 2:45the late after the show was done, and then the next thing I know,
- 2:50Kinsey's there. And it was Kinsey until until it wasn't until it wasn't.
- 2:57Yeah, it was Kinsey until you know, until Russ rusted her.
- 3:02And that's not a sexual thing at all. It was not. That's not
- 3:06how I mean it. I mean because I've said this on a number of
- 3:08times, and there's only a handful of people that know this the same or
- 3:16maybe better than I do. And two of them are in this treehouse with
- 3:21me right now. That's Trey and Jerry. Is you're around rust long enough,
- 3:25he's eventually gonna bite you. Um. And that's and that's basically what
- 3:29happened with with him and Kenzie and then Jerry. Then Jerry got Broun and
- 3:32finally to get the job that was dangled in front of him for for a
- 3:36period of time. And then September twenty fifteen, and then one day I
- 3:42heart made a decision to eliminate an entire position from the company, and that
- 3:49got Jerry swept up into the dust pin, into the dustpin. But but
- 3:54and one of our one of our last triumphs before were being laid off,
- 4:03we were able to get Jerry hired back, got the radio station. Yes,
- 4:08and I somewhere deep down, Trey, I bet Jerry hates me for
- 4:12it. I'm kidding. Jerry loves radio and he loves the job. Yes,
- 4:20yes, I do. And I appreciate that there was a bit of
- 4:23a bait and switch there. Oh yeah, come back and you'll get to
- 4:26be you get to be a producer on for the Dreehouse come on back.
- 4:29And then the day I get there, they let you guys go incident.
- 4:34Right by the way, they never told me that you were going to be
- 4:38your producer on the show. Oh yeah, Well anyways, the situation is
- 4:45what it is. You got a job in radio, Trey and I do
- 4:47not. But hey, we're in digital form now we've now joined the Matrix.
- 4:55But that's right, you're doing the thing. We're not all digital because
- 4:59like we did that show in April in Bedford, we found another another place
- 5:09to invite us in person in a room with alcohol and other people. I'm
- 5:15getting at another Treehouse podcast live road show that will be happening Jerry on Friday
- 5:21July seventh at Daddy Rabbits Pub in Louisville one twenty one in Round Grove in
- 5:27Louisville, five to seven pm. So I don't like to just make general
- 5:33assumptions about people's lives and schedules. So I'm not assuming you're free. I'm
- 5:40just I'm just going to ask you on Friday July seven, from five to
- 5:44seven pm, what are you doing if things go according to plan. I
- 5:50will be in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Why are you being punished? No?
- 5:59I love Hot Springs. Okay. Oh so no one's like trying to
- 6:03boil you. No, no, no, no, The boilings all self
- 6:09inflicted. You're going on it's you're going on vacation. Yes, wow,
- 6:16Yes, staying at the Arlington Hotel. Look at you, mister big time
- 6:21radio job. I get vacation. I wouldn't say get vacation. You're gonna
- 6:28have to claw out a little hunk of vacation. It's not exactly vacation time.
- 6:33But you're going to be someplace else that's not work right. I will
- 6:36not be chained to the board for at least five days. So you're gone
- 6:43out of town. You're taking a trip, You and you and your you
- 6:46and your lady going for a romantic weekend in Arkansas. Yes. I think
- 6:49we're gonna leave, probably the night of the fourth. It only takes four
- 6:53hours to get up there. Um, we're gonna stay at Arlington Hotel.
- 6:59We're gonna take advantage of all the bath houses that they've opened. Um places
- 7:03hot oh, bath houses, Hot Springs. Never mind, I was thinking
- 7:06tawdry. I mean there are places if you go behind the mountain. There
- 7:13are places to go to get that if you want. But as long as
- 7:15you stay in in uh the magic valley there, valley of vapors, then
- 7:20everything's everything's on the up and up, all right. But don't go around
- 7:25to the mossy side of the mountain. Yeah, yeah, that's actually what
- 7:30they call it. They call it the back side of the mountain. Of
- 7:34course they do. Hey, well, you know, if you if you
- 7:40want some ass, you got to go to the back side of the mountain.
- 7:43So on July seventh, you will not be able to be there at
- 7:46the road show. You'll be uh, you'll be in Arkansas with with your
- 7:51lady doing romantic things. Yes, well, good, good for you.
- 7:56Congratulations. How long the two you've been together now since October of twenty nineteen.
- 8:03Wow, now you're just showing off in front of a single Trey.
- 8:07Yeah, and you know what, hats off to you? Have you survived
- 8:13a fairly new relationship, survived the pandemic. Good on you. Yeah,
- 8:18because unfortunately Trey had a relationship that survived the pandemic, but it didn't survive
- 8:22much after the pandemic. No, that's the relationship, right, not her
- 8:31yes, okay, just making sure although Jerry, keep in mind it wasn't
- 8:35a total loss. I mean, Trey's X gotta gotta got a nice porsh
- 8:37out of the deal. Yeah, oh really, m yeah, I'm not
- 8:41sure. We still haven't figured out whether or not the money Drey had been
- 8:46giving her went towards that porch, but we're just assuming that it did.
- 8:52Seriously, though, I'm actually really happy for you, Jerry, being able
- 8:56to you know, keep a girl, keep a job, get to go
- 8:58on vacation. I know, so much different than this time last year.
- 9:03This time last year, it was I was looking looking pretty bad. Well,
- 9:07this time last year, I had a job in vacation. I'm starting
- 9:13to see where it happened here. I see, I think what happened Trey
- 9:16is I got Jerry a job back, and then he submarined me, Oh,
- 9:22there's a balance, because you do live in paradise, so exactly.
- 9:26Yeah, I guess it is kind of a scoreboard type situation. Yeah,
- 9:31yeah, it doesn't suck. I'll be honest with you. So what are
- 9:35you gonna do on the vacation? What's there to do in Hot Springs?
- 9:37So you go around? Do you go to like different tubs or what.
- 9:39I've never I've never been to Arkansas intentionally. Arkansas is a beautiful, beautiful,
- 9:50beautiful place. Hot Springs is look. Hot Springs is located in the
- 9:54middle of the Washitaw Mountains. It's literally, oh sorry, I did the
- 10:01thing there. I know. It's it's an old throwback, and that's not
- 10:05actually something I say very often. It's uh. They call it like the
- 10:09mineral capital of the planet because every single kind of crystal or rock or anything
- 10:13that you can find pretty much anywhere in the world, you can find it
- 10:16to some degree in Arkansas. Really, so rockhounding is big there, going
- 10:22out digging for crystals, big big I've dug big quartz crystals out there and
- 10:26the mines around Hot Springs. Man, it's I can just I can just
- 10:33feel the excitement coming from your girlfriend's loins when you tell her we're gonna go
- 10:37rockhounding. Actually, she's all about it. She's really just like, Yeah,
- 10:41she's nerdly just like I am. Dirt for rocks, just like you
- 10:45do. Oh yes, yes, pulling Mother Nature apart with your bare hands
- 10:50and pulling shiny's out of it. Yeah, that's awesome. How long has
- 10:54she been collecting her fingernail trimmings. She has yet to collect any. Well,
- 11:00that's probably because you have more more than enough for the two of you.
- 11:03It's as a matter of fact, I found it pretty funny. I
- 11:05was telling doctor Scott Thornton this at the Trash Bash that when, as usual,
- 11:13when we went on our first date, I pulled him out your fingernail
- 11:18clippings. Thank you, Ty, I was pulled him out on the first
- 11:20date. Here. It's one of those things where it's like you on the
- 11:26first date and there's a second one, we're good, you know. Well
- 11:31also, not only that, but if if if you pull out your fingernail
- 11:35collection on the first date and it doesn't immediately end the first date, that's
- 11:39that's a pretty good start for you. And speaking of a good start,
- 11:43Trey, this is a good thing that you no longer have to worry about
- 11:46when it comes to the road show on July seventh at Daddy Rabbit's Pub in
- 11:52Louisville. Is since Jerry won't be there, neither will his fingernails. Because
- 11:54I don't think Jerry and the fingernails have ever been separate in the what is
- 12:00it eighteen years now that you've been doing a collection, yes, and no,
- 12:05we have. We have never been a pot I've always had them in
- 12:11some fashion some degree. Actually survived the tornado because they were in my in
- 12:16my bag, hanging on the door the coat closet downstairs by the front door,
- 12:22which is one of the only parts of the house that didn't get wrecked.
- 12:24So you basically made sure to keep your You kept your tonail clippings inside
- 12:28your emergency bug out bag kind of, yeah, all the priorities. I'm
- 12:35pretty sure FEMA lists that you take all assential items in your bug out bag
- 12:41in case of emergency. But yeah, when I showed her showed her the
- 12:45collection, she asked me very similar questions that doctor Thornton asked me on the
- 12:50show that time when russ I was talking to him about it, which was
- 12:54why One of them is what's wrong with you? Is it? Is it
- 13:03a compulsion? Can you not do it and not get angry? I was
- 13:07like yeah, yeah. He's like, okay, do they bring you any
- 13:13sexual pleasure? I was like, no, okay, do you have any
- 13:18interest in collecting anyone else's? And I said no, And then doctor Thornton
- 13:20looks at him, was like, oh, he's not is he's just fucking
- 13:22weird? And she she asked me basically the same questions. I mean,
- 13:35that is throwing down the gauntlet on a first date. And if she stays
- 13:39around, I'd say you have a keeper. That's yeah, absolutely for both
- 13:43theater nerds and creative types and kind of awkward sometimes. Jerry, what because
- 13:54I don't know this story? What was the impetus behind you beginning to collect
- 13:58your anger nail trimmings? It started out as a simple science experiment. I
- 14:05was just interested in seeing how much of that stuff, my fingernails and toenails
- 14:11that I grew in a year. It was only supposed to last for a
- 14:13year. I started it on my birthday eighteen years ago, when I was
- 14:18thirty, on my thirtieth birthday, and I was just going after that was
- 14:22done, I was just going to put them all together and weigh it up
- 14:24and take some notes. And I was just I was just curious because at
- 14:28the time, there wasn't really like a good resource. You know, you
- 14:31find online it'll tell you that they grow this much, and you know,
- 14:35so on and so forth. But I just wondered, like, empirically,
- 14:39how much am I actually producing? And then at the end of the year,
- 14:43I couldn't stop here. I am eighteen years later. Have you started
- 14:48up a new can yet? I have to get a new can now,
- 14:52no more, we're going to fit in there. Have you done? Have
- 14:56you done anything else scientific? Like I said, Well, if I take
- 15:00this supplement, it gives you extra growth. I've I actually I've never tried
- 15:05that before. I've never taken anything specifically for carroton production. And now you've
- 15:13got his nails turning tree. Good job, because now he's gonna he's gonna
- 15:16start looking into it fine things. So that way he gets to produce more
- 15:20and therefore trim more and therefore save more, and then also have more to
- 15:24chase you around with. There'll be two in each hand, one in each
- 15:28hand. Oh, then it will be like moroccas. I will tell you
- 15:33this, and I don't know why I'm telling you this, but collagen supplement
- 15:39at least makes my nails grow faster. So okay, you know what this
- 15:43reminds me of, Trey. This reminds me of when your dad would tell
- 15:48you to go get belt belt. Yeah, so I got my own switch
- 15:52exactly, so right there, you just you just played into Jerry's hands and
- 15:54toe nails by saying, you know what, I know he's gonna do something
- 15:58to me with these things. But here's a way to grow even more of
- 16:02the things that make you nauseous. Try you really are gletton for punishment?
- 16:06I am, but I have thought of a secret weapon to bring to uh
- 16:11keep Jerry from terrorizing me. Garlic. Oh that does work? Crucifix?
- 16:18Huh what garlic? CHRISTI m M. The garlic doesn't work. There was
- 16:23a when I was growing up, there was a lady that lives He's been
- 16:27tested on him. She she hung a big thing of garlic on her front
- 16:32porch, try and keep me away. It didn't work. So Trey,
- 16:33what do you have to keep Jerry at bay? You want to see it?
- 16:37I do, and you can hear it too. Dustbuster your treehouse OnAir
- 16:52dot com. Let's welcome into the treehouse our friend and sponsor, Rodney Anderson.
- 17:06His phone number, which you are a force going to need his nine
- 17:08seven two nine eight five fifty two hundred. The website Rodney Anderson dot com.
- 17:14Coming to you live from a Smoothie King drive through Rodney Anderson. There's
- 17:18been a lot of hail lately in North Texas, and that means insurance deductibles
- 17:22that people are having to pay. But you can actually you can actually help
- 17:26with that, can't you. Well, let's talk about a cash out refinance.
- 17:29We had a client call that lived in the Lantana area. Their deductibles,
- 17:33their cars got roomed to their house, the roof of the house and
- 17:37everything. They had a twenty thousand dollars deductible for everything and dan the challenge
- 17:42was they had no room on their credit cards. They had a thousand dollars
- 17:45in savings. So they get a cash out refinance with US to pay off
- 17:49all their credit cards, get the twenty thousand dollars, and now they have
- 17:53to have windows in their house as well, so they pulled an additional fifty
- 17:56thousand dollars out to do all at one time. They lived in Lantana.
- 18:00Like I said, their home value gone up to nine hundred thousand. They
- 18:03only o two hundred thousand dollars on their mortgage, so they were able to
- 18:07do a cash out refinance, get it all roped into one, and now
- 18:11they have breathing room down the road. Because let's face it, life happens
- 18:14sometimes. My wife I bought a used car for her two weeks ago.
- 18:18We're at a restaurant the other night. She's got eighteen things in her car.
- 18:22Because of the hell, bad things happen really good people, and so
- 18:25you're just sitting there going, what's my opportunities? What can I do to
- 18:29get out of this situation? And we help so many people with cash Out
- 18:33Revise, and we just invite people pick up the phone and give us a
- 18:36call. Whether you're trying to pay off debt, do home improvements, send
- 18:40the kids to college, pay off your college loans that are coming, do

- 18:47many reasons why what Rodney is saying is they can help you out of almost
- 18:49any situation. He can present excellent options for you and your family. So

- 19:22gonna have to ask the question. But before I ask the question, I
- 19:26need to make sure I say thank you to Cook DFW Roofing and Restoration.
- 19:30This segment of the treehouse brought to you by Cook DFW Roofing and Restoration.
- 19:34Obviously, Hale had a lot of fun in North Texas recently. That means

- 19:48inspection called eight three three cook DFW to see if you have any repairs that
- 19:56are needed on your lid to your house. Cook d W Roofing and Restoration,
- 20:00COOKEDFW dot com. Trey, Why, why the hell do you have
- 20:03a dustbuster in your bedroom? Like? What is happening in your bedroom?
- 20:12Where the way it looked when you reached for the dustbuster, it looked like
- 20:18you have the wall mount like it's like spring loaded. It's ready for action
- 20:22at a moment's notice in case of an emergency dustball, You've got the dustbuster
- 20:27ready to go, like like John Wick of cleaning. Do you want the
- 20:34truth? I'll make up an up. Yes, Uh, start with the
- 20:41made up reason, right, So if we can guess, scares the crap
- 20:48out of girls when you do it to them in the middle of the night.
- 20:49Okay, not bad, not bad. That's a lot better than I
- 20:52was I was thinking. I thought, I've thought that was funny looking hicky,
- 20:56Well, I was afraid that your real doll had been used up so
- 20:59much that it was just dry. You just you just wore her out,
- 21:03and it's like, oh and times are tight, so you can't buy a
- 21:07new one because you know, real dolls are expensive, So you just got
- 21:11to keep the dustbuster ready when you are And the real actual reason is the
- 21:22cat litter box. Ah, so instead of scooping the kiddy stuff out of
- 21:32the cat box, you just use the dustbuster to suck it up into it.
- 21:36No. No, I was actually hoping that was the reason, because
- 21:40I would love that to be the case. I really, really, and
- 21:41I cannot stress this enough, really hate cleaning a cat box. So if
- 21:45there's a machine that can just do it in a matter of seconds, I'd
- 21:49be all about it. I mean, you could use a shot back,
- 21:55I guess you could. It's actually not a bad idea. Ideally I could
- 22:00do it to where there's litter left, to where I don't have to replace
- 22:03the litter each time. But I just got to shake it a little bit
- 22:07up. Yeah, because I've I've I've I have experienced with the the the
- 22:12automatic catbox things that once the kitty is done, it leaves and then the
- 22:18little machine moves across the box and scoops it for you. That thing never
- 22:22works. It always gets it, it just doesn't work. I've never had
- 22:25a good experience with set. I think I'm like in the shopback version.
- 22:30Yeah. No, my cat just likes to get in the litter box and
- 22:33then uh kick it all over the place. And for some reason, and
- 22:38after he's done, he can't just stroll out like a normal cat. He
- 22:42has to take off like you know, something bit him in the litter box
- 22:47and there's a trail of litter everywhere. All right. That makes sense because
- 22:51you're probably like me, the last thing you want to do is if because
- 22:52you're in your bedroom typically barefoot, hate the feeling of the of the sandy
- 23:00ox or the sandy urine crystals out of the cat box on your bare feet.
- 23:04Yeah, I mean, yeah, every time you walk around barefoot,
- 23:08and you're wiping your feet and you know, a little cat litter pieces are
- 23:15falling off. It's gross. So you've got all hardwoods in your house,
- 23:18Trey, pretty much? Yeah? Nice? So Trey, when you go
- 23:25on when you go on first dates? Not the not the most recent one
- 23:27withithstanding that ended abruptly because she found out you moisturize and therefore not mainly enough.
- 23:34What oh yeah, sorry, Jerry. So uh. One of the
- 23:40briefest dates in the history of Trey's love life occurred recently, and it ended
- 23:47abruptly because Trey told her that he moisturizes, and she didn't think that was
- 23:51mainly so Tray said, good night. Oh no, no, no,
- 23:56but you you don't need that kind of negativity in your life. Brother.
- 23:59I am. I am team moisturize right here. I have a whole skin
- 24:03routine. I got a shower routine, the whole thing. It's also not
- 24:07the first time that Jerry's alluded to it puts the lotion on the skin.
- 24:11It's true. He has a special basket for it. Also true to seem
- 24:18So anyway, where was that going with that, Trey moisturizer first date?
- 24:23First date? Oh yeah, So when when you go on dates and you
- 24:26tell because I know that your biggest angle to getting dates is Daisy, your
- 24:33Chihuahua, who I swear to God there you probably have to be careful with
- 24:37your dustbuster that you don't suck Daisy into the dustbuster because she is that small
- 24:44she is. She is like a three pound panty dropper, there is no
- 24:48doubt. But I wonder when you tell the ladies that you also have a
- 24:52cat, does that help a little bit or is that sort of a is
- 24:56that a non factor? You know, cats are one of those things that
- 25:03it's a real fifty fifty proposition. I mean, if you don't like a
- 25:07really cute dog, especially it's a three pound dog, then I don't want
- 25:11anything to do with you anyways. But cats are like other things that you
- 25:17know, some people love them, some people hate them, and uh,
- 25:18it's sos is the cat discussion almost like having the politics discussion on a first
- 25:23date is going to go one way or the other. And it's going to
- 25:26be hard right or hard left. Yeah, pretty pretty much. Cats and
- 25:32politics. Man, it's gonna end relationships. I mean the U I usually
- 25:37don't I ease that one in because also if I bring a stranger. If
- 25:45anyone's strange comes into my place, Julius is hiding for a good twenty four
- 25:49hours. He he just doesn't like other people. So I sometimes you can
- 25:55get away with that until the second date and then or if they come in
- 25:59and then they're like, why do you have cat litter all over the place,
- 26:00I'm like, oh, my cats an a hole. The next time
- 26:03someone does that and ask why do you have cat litter all over the place,
- 26:07you need to tell them all the toilet's broken. So if you need
- 26:14to go, let me know. I got you a special box. You
- 26:19know what good enough for the Motley crew? Uh chicks. Yeah, if
- 26:27it's good at next to it? So anyway, paper roller next to it,
- 26:41you just squat over there, let it air dry. Uh, put
- 26:48a little bit day on the side of it. But uh but yeah,
- 26:52that's uh. Cats are just like I said, they're one of those things.
- 27:00Unless you know someone says they're allergic to them, it's like, all
- 27:03right, well that's uh, then you're out. Uh you know, because
- 27:10I'm I'm not getting rid of the cat. So you know, if I'm
- 27:15online dating, that's when you know I I do look for that. If
- 27:18someone says, I don't like dogs, I don't like cats. Whatever,
- 27:21you know, I don't care how hot you are. I'm You're out.
- 27:25It's not gonna work. Yep. Well, your your profile photo on the
- 27:30whatever app that you're on for for online dating, is it just of you?
- 27:36Or do you incorporate Daisy you'r Chihuala into the photo to you know,
- 27:40because you're cheating, or or maybe the cat as well, Like what's what's
- 27:44your profile photo? Game? Look like? The profile photo will be just
- 27:48me, but I will definitely put pictures of Daisy in any profile because you
- 27:56know, I don't have I don't have that much going on to really do
- 28:00much, but you know, Daisy will push me over the edge and you
- 28:03know, push me into a different weight class, as it were, when
- 28:06it comes to dating. It's amazing to think that you add three pounds and
- 28:10it sends you right into the next the next tier. Yeah, so I
- 28:14have I have a proposition here, and I'm not sure, Trey, you
- 28:15may end up hating this, and that's kind of partly My hope is you've
- 28:21been singing now for a while. Jerry has not. Jerry has been for
- 28:25many years now something of a swordsman when it comes to the ladies, so
- 28:29much so that on the radio show when we would mention him, we gave
- 28:33him theme music and so it was it was a hot stepper song that would
- 28:37come on when Jerry would, you know, open the microphone. So my
- 28:41proposition, especially now that we know that Jerry will not be at the road
- 28:48show July seventh, we need to start working now because times of the essence.
- 28:53My proposition is this, Trey, you are single, Jerry, you
- 28:59are not an Even if you were, you'd be. I've been near you
- 29:03when you're single. You're just you're successful at it. I think you.
- 29:07I think Trey needs a romance coach or a dating coach, and I think
- 29:11Jerry you would be the best, worst idea to to to take on that
- 29:18role. I'm okay with that. I'm not perfect. This makes me happy,
- 29:27This brings me joy. So, Jerry, what would you do?
- 29:30What would you do to uh? Because you've navigated you know, twenty first
- 29:34century dating. Um, I mean granted Toby, but uh, not nearly
- 29:40as recently as you have. So what would you recommend for Trey to start
- 29:47doing or to start doing differently? You know, to get him off the
- 29:51sidelines and into the game. Uh, well, you know I had the
- 30:00radio show behind me, so that was there was there was a lot of
- 30:03power there. That does help a lot. We all have experience with that.
- 30:07The radio show does does help in that arena. Um, I don't
- 30:11feel like Trey, if you put in your your headline or whatever on on
- 30:18online dating. Let me tell you about my podcast ISRAELI is gonna be very
- 30:26effective. Um. So what do you think then, Jerry? Should we
- 30:32just go just start making stuff up or what? Well? I mean,
- 30:37eventually you're gonna have to justify that profile. Um. You know, um
- 30:47going to the places where people are doing things that don't require a whole lot
- 30:53of attention on their part so that they you know, can see who walls
- 30:57around them. Um, don't be afraid to like have your swagger tray?
- 31:08How is your swagger limited? All right? Jerry, I think we found
- 31:15an area of concern. No, brother, sell it. It sounds like
- 31:21it sounds like we need to get Trey swag back. Yeah. I think
- 31:26my swagger get uh taken from me? Um, who took your swag tray?
- 31:32What's her life? I understand? Yeah, that will happen. Uh,
- 31:38Jerry, did you meet your girl like online or out? I met
- 31:44her at the pool hall that I frequent. She was the waitress. Interesting,
- 31:52yeah, and she had so you had like you, she had been
- 31:56waiting on you for a while and then you worked your way up or just
- 32:02or just wore her down. I'm curious to see which way this goes.
- 32:08Actually I was she first started working there at the at the bull hall.
- 32:15I uh, the guy that was my roommate, he was the bouncer,
- 32:22and uh, he introduced me to her just briefly, and I sent her
- 32:27a Facebook friend request. Oh yeah, sexy so and that I'm sorry,
- 32:31go ahead. That sat there for about eight months unrequited. Wow. Now
- 32:39then do you know did she just not check Facebook that often? Or you
- 32:44were just she wasn't sure. I was just accepting it. I was just
- 32:49another one of the many. You know, she's one of the man like
- 32:53it like it did. Was she used to like pulling trains or are you
- 32:58talking? Like lots of guys sent her requests a lot, so she just
- 33:01ignored them all. I mean, there's just a lot lots of guys sent
- 33:04her friend requests. Okay, that was my hell book A good yes,
- 33:07yes, she's she's very popular up there. Um, I mean, I
- 33:15let me. I'll give you. I'll give you a lot of credit,
- 33:16Jerry, because anyone, you know, females that work in the service industry,
- 33:22Dan, your wife did, and they get hit on all the time.
- 33:24So you have to have a fairly you know, you have that fairly
- 33:29good BS to get through. Yeah, because they've pretty much heard it all.
- 33:31Well that's the thing. There was no bs. I don't I really,
- 33:36I really don't. So Jerry's game is to not spit game exactly.
- 33:43Just talk to them, engage them like you would anybody else in any situation.
- 33:49And you know, just while occasionally making Crewe gestures, yeah, you
- 33:58know, one or two just on acsion, just so they know that you're
- 34:00not going for the friend zone. And I mean, that's that That's always
- 34:06my biggest thing. Just do whatever it is that you're gonna do. You
- 34:12know, even if that's you know, I want to talk to you got
- 34:15to you know, buy a drink. In her case, you want to
- 34:17go see Willie Nelson. Um, that that was what you and that that
- 34:24was what you threw at her to ask her out for the first time.
- 34:27Is do you want to go see Willie Nelson. Yes, when he came
- 34:30back to uh, damn it, what is it? In Fort Worth?
- 34:36Billy Bob's. He was celebrating the anniversary of his live album at Billy Bob's
- 34:43and I had tickets to that, and I asked her, was like,
- 34:44hey, I want to go see Billy Bob's. And we sat there and
- 34:47chit chatted for a few minutes, and she said, I'm going to give
- 34:51you the hardest maybe I have ever given anyone. I was like, all
- 34:54right, that's fair, and I got up and I went to talk to
- 35:00Quinn, who was my roommate, and I said, we're going to see
- 35:02Willie, even though even though she had just said maybe, right, all
- 35:07right, so we're playing fast and loose, fast and loose with the with
- 35:10consent here. No, I was just I was. I was like,
- 35:15you're playing you're playing fast and loose with consent. It's like, oh no,
- 35:17she's going no, no, no. I wouldn't like that at all.
- 35:23So then what finally pushed her over the edge to go to see Willie.
- 35:28I just kept going in there and taking an opportunity to talk to her,
- 35:31and you know, I asked her about a bastard about herself, and
- 35:37she actually accepted my friend's request. And I found out that we were both
- 35:40theater nerds, and we both like musical theater, and you know, so
- 35:44we hit chatted about that a lot. We both have the same favorite musical
- 35:49Sweetie Todd. So, Trey, I understand this sounds like none of this
- 35:55would ever possibly work and and and in it it shouldn't, but it's Jerry
- 36:00and it does. So the thing is, though, to keep in mind,
- 36:04she's not right for you, Trey, because I know Trey that you
- 36:07don't give a damn about Sweeney Todd and a barber of Seville. But that
- 36:15was something that he's the demon barber of Fleet Street where we're Saville's an opera.
- 36:21Ah, look are you getting schooled? Dan? Is he a barber?
- 36:28You could say that, yes, well, then close enough. The
- 36:32point is Trey doesn't care about the musical side of that of that side.
- 36:37What you're saying holds true is that basically Jerry's your tactic was too h wear
- 36:45her down over time and take genuine interest in her. Yes, I don't
- 36:54even wearing down part. I mean I can take no it sounds like you
- 37:01can, but you don't. I'm going to say that I don't have to
- 37:06take it very often. All of a sudden, you sounded like you got
- 37:09in the middle of a deposition. It kind of felt like that a little
- 37:15bit, a little bit of sweat start to come across the brow. Well,
- 37:22I just, hey, I'm I'm not good especially you know, my
- 37:29life has has been for the last five years running a bar and tried not
- 37:34to crap where I eat as it were, and do a lot of picking
- 37:38up of women there and so. But my problem is is I just I
- 37:45have one one big negative and you know it's hard to overcome that, and
- 37:53that is I'm an assule. This is true, it's very feat accurate.
- 38:00Yeah about you little listening to the Treehouse. Visit us online that Treehouse on
- 38:07air dot com. All right, let's welcome into the Treehouse. Daniel Cook
- 38:22from Cook DFW Roofing and Restoration. Their phone number eight three three Cook DFW.
- 38:28The website is, of course cook dfw dot com. So, Daniel,
- 38:31I know things have been pretty pretty hectic lately because all that hail that
- 38:37everyone got in North Texas really did a number on some roofs. Right,
- 38:40Dan, you are not kidding Man, we have been really, really busy
- 38:44this year. Unfortunately, we have seen some traumatic damage all through the metroplex.
- 38:50We've had some large hails. You know, probably since twenty sixteen,
- 38:53I haven't seen hells this size. So this is a big year. Um.
- 38:58You know, we had some speculation in the beginning that we are going
- 39:00to have a mount monster year because of the La Nina and El Nino kind
- 39:05of phase and the temperatures of the ocean warming up. And I tell you
- 39:09they are right. We are having a record year. And it's really good
- 39:13to get your homes protected. We're seeing a ton of leaks, a ton
- 39:15of shingles being flown off of homes, just multiple damages everywhere, man,
- 39:21And it is really smart. Even if someone thinks that they don't have any
- 39:23visible damage, there's no water coming through the roof, there's no shingles in
- 39:27the yard. If a severe storm hit and you saw hail on the ground,
- 39:30especially of a decent size, it's a good idea to go ahead and
- 39:32give you a call at eight through three Cook at the FW to take advantage
- 39:37of that free roof inspection. Right, absolutely, Dan. We've had probably
- 39:40one hundred calls in the last you know, a couple of weeks and and
- 39:44believe it or not, you know, maybe only thirty percent of those are
- 39:47calls that probably need a roof. So there's a lot of roofs out there
- 39:51that don't need to be replaced, that just maybe need to repair to.
- 39:53But it's a piece of mind because you don't want to be behind the eight
- 39:58ball later on you have the leaks happening in the middle of your party at
- 40:01your house, probably give Cook DFW Roofing and Restoration a call to make sure
- 40:06your roof is ready to withstand everything mother nature will throw at it. Eight
- 40:09three three Cook DFW eight three three Cook DFW or of course Cook DFW dot
- 40:14com. Business online at Treehouse OnAir dot com time not a welcome Jacqueline from
- 40:21Brooks Plumbing into the Treehouse. Their phone number two one four three six eight
- 40:24thirty eight thirty eight. That's two one four three six eight thirty eight thirty
- 40:28eight. The website is Brooks Plumbing Texas dot com. Now, Jacqueline,
- 40:32there were lots of storms over the last week, and I know typically when
- 40:36people really need a plumber it's after the winter storms because pipes are frozen.
- 40:38But you know, when it gets hotter, and after even summer storms,
- 40:43people realize, you know what, I got plumbing problems in the summer as
- 40:45well. That's really true. Last night, after hours, I was walking
- 40:50around my own house doing laundry, cleaning up and my phone rang and I
- 40:52had a phone call from a very distressed gentleman and he said, Hey,
- 40:55I just went to use my garden host for the first time this summer because
- 41:00it's so hot and it's leaking in the wall when I turn it on.
- 41:02And I asked him, you know, is this the first time you've tried
- 41:06to use this hook up since the last freeze we had, and he said
- 41:09yes, And I said, well, I said, honestly, it probably
- 41:12bursts during that freeze and you didn't know because it only leaks when you turn
- 41:16it on, and this is the first time you've gone to use it,
- 41:19And no big deal. We can fix it. We're actually going to fix
- 41:22it while he's at work on Monday, so it doesn't even have to be
- 41:24there. We're going to do everything from outside. But honestly, I know
- 41:28we're way in advance. But the best piece of advice I can give to
- 41:30anybody in prepping for a freeze is unhook your garden hoses from your hose bibs.
- 41:35Just unhook them. That's one of the bare minimum things you need to
- 41:37do. But he just found out in June, so people still are finding
- 41:40the fallout from all these freezes we've been having. So this is another great
- 41:45reason to contact Rooks Plumbing because not only their knowledge, but they're gonna get
- 41:47you ready for the next wave of things, so maybe you don't have to
- 41:52call them in the future. Kind of a weird business model, but it
- 41:54works for so give them a call for any and all of your plumbing needs.

- 43:02right, Jacqueline is the big boss lady there at Brooks Plumbing, And like
- 43:09most people that know you, Jerry, no joking here, she speaks very
- 43:13highly of you. And I also don't think anyone holds it against you either,
- 43:16right, No one holds it against her. I don't hold it against
- 43:19her that she knows you. What about that she speaks highly of him,
- 43:25that's a different story altogether. It's it's still a new sponsor, Tray.
- 43:30I don't want to piss her off right away, all right. So yes,
- 43:35here we are back in the treehouse with Jerry caldwellf are one of our
- 43:39former associate producers of the radio show that we did back in the day,
- 43:44and he still likes to pop in the treehouse on occasion to gloat about still
- 43:47having a job in radio. And then he'll he'll leave the treehouse and run
- 43:52away with his girlfriend Arkansas to make Trey feel bad about himself, and then
- 43:57won't be attending the road show, which makes us sad, but that's okay.
- 44:00We want you to be able to enjoy your life, Jerry, enjoy
- 44:04your life. Speaking of the road show, that will be Friday, July
- 44:07seven, from five to seven pm at Daddy Rabbits Pub in Louisville. That's
- 44:14pretty much it right now. I mean, well, we'll be getting lots
- 44:16of fun things planned for the day itself. It'll be we'll be doing a
- 44:22live recording there at the Daddy Rabbits Pub in Louisville, and then that's on
- 44:27Friday five to seven, and then that episode will then drop the following Monday,
- 44:32so that's how that works. It'll be a lot of fun, So
- 44:35market on your calendars be sure to come and see us do the show live,
- 44:38and you'll be in the show in the background and or maybe even on
- 44:43it somehow. I haven't figured out all the details of all the things that
- 44:45we'll be doing, but it'll be fun. And of course they've got food
- 44:49and drink, so that makes everything better as well. If you're single and
- 44:52you think Trey is hot, we can probably work something out there as well.
- 44:59Oh god, yeah, so this doesn't apply to any of us.
- 45:07But I saw something interesting and I wanted to share it with you guys,
- 45:09because it's you know, we're friends. You find you find something interesting,
- 45:14you want to share it with your buddy. So that's what I'm gonna do
- 45:15right now. Did you guys know that in nineteen twenty the United States Post
- 45:23Office decided that children may not be sent in the mail I do in the
- 45:32twenties. Yeah, okay, yeah, that's uh should be pretty obvious.
- 45:38Then at this point, if if the Post Office had to come out and
- 45:42say you can't mail your children, that means somebody did right, like,
- 45:46no exceptions. It wasn't like you can't mail them unless there's a certain number
- 45:51of air holes or I don't know if they were some kind of padding or
- 45:54something. I don't know if they were that considerate back then. This from
- 45:59Ships This from the Smithsonian. One of the most overlooked yet most significant innovations
- 46:04of the early twentieth century might be the Post Office's decision to start shipping large
- 46:08parcels and packages through the mail. While private delivery companies flourished during the nineteenth
- 46:15century, the parcel post dramatically expanded their reach of mail order companies to America's
- 46:21many rural communities, as well as the demand for their products. When the
- 46:23post Offices parcel post officially began on January one, nineteen thirteen, the news
- 46:29service suddenly allowed millions of Americans great access to all kinds of goods and services.
- 46:34But almost immediately it had some unintended consequences, and some parents tried to
- 46:39send their children through the mail. According to the United States Postal Service historian
- 46:47Jenny Lynch, she told The Smithsonian it got some headlines when it happened,
- 46:52probably because it was so cute. Just a few weeks after the parcel post
- 46:58began, an Ohio couple named Jesse and Matilda Beagle mailed their eight month old
- 47:04son James to his grandmother, who lived a few miles away. According to
- 47:09Lynch, baby James was just shy of the eleven pound weight limit for packages
- 47:15sent via parcel post, so his delivery cost his parents only fifteen cents in
- 47:20postage, although they did ensure him for fifty dollars. Oh that's good,
- 47:24that's good. They could have head there. The story soon made newspapers,
- 47:30and for the next several years, similar stories would occasionally surface as other parents
- 47:36followed suit by mailing their children places and the next few years, stories about
- 47:44children being mailed through rural routes would crop up from time to time as people
- 47:46pushed the limits of what could be sent through the mail. In one famous
- 47:51case, February nineteen, nineteen fourteen, a four year old girl named Charlotte
- 47:55May Pierstaff was mailed via train from her home in Rangeville, Idaho, to
- 48:00her grandparents' house, around seventy three miles away. Her story became so legendary
- 48:07that it was even made into a children's book, Mailing May I smell a
- 48:15Netflix reboot. Oh Jesus, things like this, when you hear about it,
- 48:23or when you see okay, hey, on this date in history,
- 48:28it was decided you can't do this. You know, it's because someone did
- 48:31it, and this is one of the great and terrible examples of it.
- 48:38But I get it. I like to think that even back in the early
- 48:43in the early nineteen hundreds, like that, kids were driving their parents so
- 48:45crazy that they threatened them with mailing them to their grandparents. Let's play a
- 48:52game. Get in the box, see t you, Trey. It was
