- 0:00Speaker 1: It was good. Everybody, some boy, Miles Minic, it takes
- 0:02Speaker 1: me out. On the Bootleg Cab Podcast, Let's get it.
- 0:07Speaker 2: All right man. Bootleg Cab Podcast Special guests in here
- 0:10Speaker 2: Miles Minic, Welcome, welcome.
- 0:12Speaker 1: Well, it's good to be here, man, Let's get to it.
- 0:15Speaker 2: Yes. So, for people who are not familiar with who
- 0:17Speaker 2: you are, you're from the Bay Area, Yes, sir. And
- 0:21Speaker 2: would you consider yourself a quote unquote Christian rapper?
- 0:24Speaker 1: A lot of people would. Yeah. I do music about
- 0:27Speaker 1: my life and I live my life for the Lord.
- 0:29Speaker 2: So how long have you making music?
- 0:32Speaker 1: Making music all together? Maybe like ten years? Doing it
- 0:34Speaker 1: professionally like five and.
- 0:36Speaker 2: The whole time is your like message in the same No.
- 0:38Speaker 1: No, for surely not.
- 0:39Speaker 2: No.
- 0:40Speaker 1: I grew up in a Bay like doing like you know,
- 0:42Speaker 1: the mob music, the gangster rap, like rolling with like
- 0:45Speaker 1: DV to General, DSB, click like all of them, with
- 0:48Speaker 1: that like get active movement like twenty ten, so.
- 0:50Speaker 2: You were like your content was much more aggressive.
- 0:53Speaker 1: Oh for surely yeah. Yeah yeah, but like around twenty eleven,
- 0:58Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying, Like I found I found
- 1:00Speaker 1: the Lord and eventually like surrounding my music over it
- 1:04Speaker 1: to them you know what I'm saying, And.
- 1:05Speaker 2: Did you notice, like, well that was a long time ago. Fuck,
- 1:08Speaker 2: that's I'm sorry. I'm gonna cuss a lot. You please
- 1:11Speaker 2: excuse me, because I can't control it around anyone's children either.
- 1:15Speaker 2: Sometimes my friends bring the kids around. I'll just be
- 1:17Speaker 2: talking and they'd be like yo, and I'm like, hey, man,
- 1:19Speaker 2: don't bring your fucking kid around me. Then respectfully, anyway,
- 1:23Speaker 2: with that being said, I mean you're like, it's a
- 1:26Speaker 2: long twenty ten and now it's fourteen years. Yeah, you
- 1:31Speaker 2: know it didn't happen overnight for you.
- 1:33Speaker 1: Well, definitely not. And it's like when I became a Christian,
- 1:36Speaker 1: I didn't know if doing music was like acceptable the
- 1:41Speaker 1: way I was doing it, Like I was in the
- 1:43Speaker 1: streets doing aggressive music, and when I thought about doing
- 1:46Speaker 1: that for God, I didn't think that that was acceptable.
- 1:49Speaker 1: And so it took me a minute to get back
- 1:50Speaker 1: into it.
- 1:51Speaker 2: So you like took a break from so yeah, and
- 1:54Speaker 2: then you like kind of were like, all right, now
- 1:55Speaker 2: I'm gonna kind of make my music about positivity and yeah.
- 1:59Speaker 1: Yeah, And that was like when I started really tapping too.
- 2:03Speaker 1: It taking serious was the beginning of twenty eighteen. So
- 2:05Speaker 1: between twenty eleven twenty eighteen, I'm just like just trying
- 2:09Speaker 1: to figure it out, trying to grow in my character,
- 2:10Speaker 1: integrity and saying, trying to really just become a man,
- 2:13Speaker 1: you know what I mean.
- 2:15Speaker 2: Yeah, you know it's interesting because I feel like if
- 2:19Speaker 2: someone says they're a Christian rapper, they automatically are looked
- 2:22Speaker 2: at with a certain I would say negative stigma and
- 2:25Speaker 2: hip hop. Would you say that's the case.
- 2:28Speaker 1: I would say maybe in the grand scheme of things,
- 2:30Speaker 1: But for me, that really hasn't been a case, right, Yeah,
- 2:33Speaker 1: And maybe because of the sound that I have and
- 2:39Speaker 1: how I look, whatever the case may be, like, and
- 2:41Speaker 1: maybe because I'm authentically like from.
- 2:44Speaker 2: Here right, I mean, listen, you have I told I
- 2:47Speaker 2: told you this off. So I was like, Bro, your
- 2:48Speaker 2: shit is like high fiass Christian music. It's like music
- 2:53Speaker 2: you geld bit of carto and then repent after card.
- 2:57Speaker 1: To after Yo. Hey, I'll take that, yeah, as long
- 3:04Speaker 1: as they were apinted.
- 3:05Speaker 2: But uh, yeah, you know, because because for me, it's
- 3:08Speaker 2: like there's guys like Shouts of Lacree, who's obviously had
- 3:11Speaker 2: a major deal with Atlantic for I think it was
- 3:13Speaker 2: Atlantic Colombia. I think Combia. Yeah, but he was on
- 3:15Speaker 2: a major label. I don't know if he still is
- 3:17Speaker 2: or not. I don't want to speak about the situation,
- 3:19Speaker 2: but obviously very successful artist. I feel like Lacree was
- 3:24Speaker 2: like he was dope, but he happened to be a
- 3:28Speaker 2: Christian rapper. And I kind of feel like that's the
- 3:30Speaker 2: key because there's guys who like a quote unquote Christian rappers,
- 3:33Speaker 2: but their music is very it's not very palatable.
- 3:37Speaker 1: Like for like a general audience.
- 3:39Speaker 2: Yeah, Like I feel like I pressed play on your
- 3:41Speaker 2: ship and I was like, oh, this is just like
- 3:43Speaker 2: if I didn't know that, like this is just some
- 3:45Speaker 2: shit to.
- 3:46Speaker 1: Yeah, it's like once you realize is Christian, it's too late,
- 3:49Speaker 1: like you already like it, right, you know what I'm saying.
- 3:52Speaker 1: And so that's kind of like the method like putting
- 3:54Speaker 1: the the medicine and the food.
- 3:56Speaker 2: Is there any uh? Because obviously is there like a
- 4:01Speaker 2: Christian rap world that you have to kind of penetrate
- 4:04Speaker 2: and get into, Like are there? Like I just do
- 4:06Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying, Like, there's definitely a world.
- 4:08Speaker 2: Are there Christian rap blogs and shit?
- 4:10Speaker 1: Yes?
- 4:10Speaker 2: Like what's the Christian rap academics?
- 4:12Speaker 1: Yeah? Ooh, Christian Rap Academics. Oh okay, proper exl okay.
- 4:19Speaker 1: So that's a popular instagram for Christian rap rap Zilla,
- 4:22Speaker 1: you got ch Promotions. Anda stands for Christian hip Hop
- 4:27Speaker 1: and there's like a plethoro though.
- 4:28Speaker 2: So there's like tons of Christian hip hop artists that
- 4:30Speaker 2: they don't even know there is. It's just the world.
- 4:33Speaker 2: I'm not hip too whatsoever.
- 4:34Speaker 1: It's a subgenre of hip hop, you know what I'm saying.
- 4:37Speaker 1: But people are selling out shows.
- 4:38Speaker 2: No, I saw you do it. Listen. It is not
- 4:41Speaker 2: easy to sell. There's so many artists that could not
- 4:44Speaker 2: sell out a quarter of the Novo let alone the
- 4:47Speaker 2: full thing. So that's very, very impressive. And you got
- 4:50Speaker 2: to show coming up to the Observatory too in August.
- 4:52Speaker 1: Right, August thirty first yep.
- 4:53Speaker 2: Yeah, So like you're doing like big venues, Like this
- 4:56Speaker 2: is like a movement that you're doing. So I think
- 4:57Speaker 2: it's dope. Like kudos to you, ma because doing it
- 5:00Speaker 2: your way.
- 5:01Speaker 1: Oh much, love, bro, It's a blessing. You know. I
- 5:03Speaker 1: used to think that I had to rap about a
- 5:04Speaker 1: certain thing a certain way to make any kind of
- 5:06Speaker 1: progress or be successful. But it's like I'm just leaning
- 5:08Speaker 1: to what I feel like is right.
- 5:09Speaker 2: I mean, at the end of the day, I always
- 5:10Speaker 2: tell people if you got a niche, and I'm not
- 5:12Speaker 2: saying that, like you being a Christian is a niche
- 5:14Speaker 2: because this is your life, like it's who you are, right,
- 5:16Speaker 2: But in hip hop it's a niche. Yeah yeah, And
- 5:19Speaker 2: like you know, with any sort of art form, I
- 5:23Speaker 2: feel like, lean into your niche because it's tribe, yeah
- 5:27Speaker 2: for sure.
- 5:28Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah. And we I feel like I tried found
- 5:31Speaker 1: us though, Like we just started putting on music. Then
- 5:34Speaker 1: I put out a song called Glow and then our
- 5:37Speaker 1: followers would just like organically call my team like, oh,
- 5:40Speaker 1: look at the Glow Team. Look at the glowers. It's
- 5:43Speaker 1: not okay, glow Nation. They'll call them glow Nation. And
- 5:46Speaker 1: then I grew into something bigger than we can imagine.
- 5:50Speaker 1: You feel me. Now we got Glow Festival.
- 5:51Speaker 2: So is that your like your fan base, like your beehive,
- 5:55Speaker 2: my behive, glow Nation is your behive?
- 5:58Speaker 1: Yeah, my my Bobby Socks is my rap pack. You
- 6:02Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. Yeah? Yeah?
- 6:04Speaker 2: So who was your who were your favorite rappers? Just
- 6:06Speaker 2: like coming up like that, you obviously being from the
- 6:09Speaker 2: Bay like, who are some guys who like influenced you?
- 6:11Speaker 2: Who you would take.
- 6:12Speaker 1: The main one for surely forty forty my getto report Card.
- 6:16Speaker 1: That album definitely shaped my childhood. You know. Of course
- 6:22Speaker 1: Mac dre as well. The wolf Pack got my bands a.
- 6:26Speaker 2: One of the most influential rap groups ever that gets
- 6:27Speaker 2: no credit.
- 6:28Speaker 1: Absolutely, and then I feel like what came out of
- 6:30Speaker 1: the wolf Pack is like HBK Gang so.
- 6:32Speaker 2: And I would like to point out that a lot
- 6:35Speaker 2: of those beat that the Packs were rapping on us
- 6:39Speaker 2: sounded a lot like Mustard and League of Stars.
- 6:41Speaker 1: That came a little I wasn't gonna say, you know
- 6:44Speaker 1: what I'm saying, must love, must love to muster to everybody.
- 6:46Speaker 2: No, no, but I'm just letting you like that the
- 6:48Speaker 2: Bay had a little they had some influence on everybody.
- 6:52Speaker 2: I just had this conversation yesday. I'm like, Yo, the
- 6:54Speaker 2: Bay and Texas get no love when it comes to
- 6:56Speaker 2: who they influenced, Like the Bays influenced everybody and the
- 7:00Speaker 2: Baby and always forgotten. We know it's no, yeah, definitely
- 7:03Speaker 2: know because y'all let everybody know. Trust me, you meet
- 7:05Speaker 2: somebody from the Bank, they'll tell you.
- 7:06Speaker 1: We got this big chip on our shoulder. You feel me.
- 7:09Speaker 2: But people from the Bear are like people who do CrossFit.
- 7:11Speaker 2: They won't stop telling you about that. Yeah we get it,
- 7:14Speaker 2: we get yeah.
- 7:15Speaker 1: Yeah, It's like it's the culture. We're proud of it.
- 7:17Speaker 1: And if nobody gonna talk about it, were gonna talk
- 7:18Speaker 1: about it. Got you.
- 7:20Speaker 2: Have you worked with the obviously you're making noise. Have
- 7:22Speaker 2: you worked with any of the other up and coming
- 7:24Speaker 2: art like a guy like Pilo or like you know,
- 7:26Speaker 2: some of the guys who are making John Mexican. I
- 7:28Speaker 2: don't know if you would you work with somebody if
- 7:30Speaker 2: they are not Let's ask that, if they're not aligned
- 7:33Speaker 2: with you spiritually, values wise, would you work with someone?
- 7:37Speaker 1: And we was talking about this yesterday on ruse Line.
- 7:40Speaker 1: So I'm actually about to get in the studio with Pilow,
- 7:42Speaker 1: coming up song. We're gonna make some slaps. I'm in
- 7:45Speaker 1: a studio with l Russell in two days. You know
- 7:47Speaker 1: what I'm saying. And these aren't necessarily Christian artists.
- 7:51Speaker 2: He is not a Christian, you know, and had some nights.
- 7:56Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. But that don't mean we
- 7:58Speaker 1: can't make a song that is palatable for both of
- 8:01Speaker 1: our audiences that doesn't come.
- 8:03Speaker 2: You'll work with Yeah, as long as it's not some
- 8:05Speaker 2: crazy as long as than I. You're not gonna work
- 8:07Speaker 2: with white boy Cardi though.
- 8:09Speaker 1: I mean now me feel me like the symbolism and stuff,
- 8:14Speaker 1: the people getting possessed during his concerts, we can have
- 8:18Speaker 1: to work on that.
- 8:18Speaker 2: I've been I've been to a Cardi show and very
- 8:21Speaker 2: very some vampire member me and it's there and I
- 8:24Speaker 2: was like, what the fuck's happening.
- 8:25Speaker 1: Like some vampires.
- 8:27Speaker 2: No, I just didn't. Dude, was like a seance on stage,
- 8:29Speaker 2: And I'm like, you know, that was the only time
- 8:32Speaker 2: in hip hop and like, you know, I'll be around
- 8:33Speaker 2: some young young ass ship. But if the Cardi ship
- 8:36Speaker 2: had rolled them loud. Yeah, seeing all these it was
- 8:39Speaker 2: this is in Miami, you seeing all these dusty ass,
- 8:41Speaker 2: muddy white kids with beat up forces just fucking just
- 8:44Speaker 2: like it was just like, I'm like this, I don't
- 8:47Speaker 2: get it. Yeah, It's the only hip hop moment in
- 8:50Speaker 2: my life where I looked up and I was like,
- 8:53Speaker 2: I don't know what's happening. Let's go back to the trailer.
- 8:57Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't. I don't really understand it either, you know,
- 8:59Speaker 1: shout out to him. Yeah, big, big shout out. Soon
- 9:01Speaker 1: he got a movement behind him, you know what I'm saying,
- 9:03Speaker 1: So maybe one day we could we could top it
- 9:04Speaker 1: up or something.
- 9:05Speaker 2: Do you feel like as somebody who is a Christian
- 9:11Speaker 2: do you feel because I feel like nowadays a lot
- 9:13Speaker 2: of artists they have like cult like followings, and I
- 9:17Speaker 2: feel like there's a lot of kids who kind of
- 9:19Speaker 2: replace like, you know, when I was growing up, but
- 9:22Speaker 2: my parents are growing up. I feel like religion was
- 9:24Speaker 2: a lot more like pushed upon kids and you know,
- 9:28Speaker 2: stuff like that. But nowadays it feels like like artists
- 9:31Speaker 2: and celebrities and are kind of like the new religion
- 9:34Speaker 2: for a lot of these kids.
- 9:34Speaker 1: Do you Yeah, Yeah, Well, so like your question is like,
- 9:40Speaker 1: how do I feel about Yeah, Like, well, Christianity not
- 9:43Speaker 1: being the norm as it was before. I mean, this generation,
- 9:49Speaker 1: they're heavily influenced by what they see on their phones
- 9:51Speaker 1: or like the artists of today. I'm just I'm just
- 9:54Speaker 1: grateful that I found something that's more more meaningful to me.
- 9:58Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying, That kid, that's that lasts
- 10:01Speaker 1: longer than the hype of an artist, You know what
- 10:03Speaker 1: I'm saying, So I'm just trying to encourage people like, fine, fine,
- 10:07Speaker 1: find your your peace, you know what I'm saying. And
- 10:10Speaker 1: my piece is found in Jesus.
- 10:11Speaker 2: So do you care like to have non religious people
- 10:17Speaker 2: like come to your party? Like do you want do
- 10:19Speaker 2: you want those people to like be fans?
- 10:21Speaker 1: Like?
- 10:21Speaker 2: Or is it like, hey, I got the show because
- 10:23Speaker 2: what's the name of your album? It's like Cali Christ.
- 10:26Speaker 1: What is it?
- 10:26Speaker 2: Christ like California. So it's like me like if I
- 10:30Speaker 2: didn't know, like if DJHA didn't put me up on
- 10:32Speaker 2: you or Ace didn't call me, if someone sent me
- 10:34Speaker 2: an album and said Christ like California as somebody's gotta
- 10:38Speaker 2: tell you, I'd have been like, well, this shit ain't
- 10:41Speaker 2: for me. I wouldn't even a press play. Now I
- 10:44Speaker 2: pressed play and I was like, oh, this ship is fire,
- 10:46Speaker 2: Like this shit is dope. But it's like I almost
- 10:49Speaker 2: feel it's almost like when Kanye put out Jesus King.
- 10:53Speaker 2: It was my least favorite Kanye album because I felt
- 10:55Speaker 2: like he was pushing something on me and I was like, well,
- 10:59Speaker 2: this ain't for me. You know what I'm saying. I
- 11:02Speaker 2: feel like listening to your music, it doesn't feel like
- 11:05Speaker 2: you're overly like slapping people upside the head with yeah,
- 11:09Speaker 2: but what uh? But the title is the title is
- 11:12Speaker 2: like it's going to like scare some people off before
- 11:15Speaker 2: they even are able to give you a chance.
- 11:17Speaker 1: I can feel that. I can feel that.
- 11:18Speaker 2: I'm not to say that like you care or you
- 11:20Speaker 2: should care because your this is your mission. Yeah, I'm
- 11:23Speaker 2: just from my perspective, I'm like, well, me in this
- 11:25Speaker 2: fool like he's he's he's Jewish. He just did a
- 11:34Speaker 2: he just did a twenty three and me and found
- 11:36Speaker 2: out he's thirty percent Jewish. Yes, he just did the test.
- 11:39Speaker 2: He's Jewish and Mexican straight up. His his his grandma
- 11:42Speaker 2: cheated on his grandpa with the Jewish neighbor. We found
- 11:45Speaker 2: all that. We literally found this all out in the
- 11:47Speaker 2: last twelve months. My producer did one of the DNA
- 11:51Speaker 2: tests for people who can't see him on camera. Now
- 11:55Speaker 2: he does. I told him he's a leading I told
- 11:57Speaker 2: him he's a leaning to it. I said, got you
- 11:59Speaker 2: own it, it's who you are. You got to go
- 12:01Speaker 2: to the bable shop anyway. But I was just saying
- 12:04Speaker 2: like in terms of like we're hip hop fans. So
- 12:06Speaker 2: when I hear when I heard your music, I was like, oh,
- 12:08Speaker 2: this shit is dope. But I think that like the
- 12:13Speaker 2: like you like we said the title. If I was
- 12:15Speaker 2: just some normal rap fan, I might be like, man,
- 12:17Speaker 2: that's some preachy ash Christian shit, like, yeah, how do
- 12:20Speaker 2: you find the because you're obviously what you're doing is
- 12:23Speaker 2: working for you. That's why I'm like, do you care that?
- 12:26Speaker 2: Like that might push normal hip hop fans away or
- 12:32Speaker 2: maybe just turn them off from like trying to discover
- 12:35Speaker 2: what you got.
- 12:35Speaker 1: I mean maybe I could. I could consider the titles more,
- 12:37Speaker 1: but I'm more so think about them when i'm making
- 12:40Speaker 1: the music more so than i'm titling the song right,
- 12:42Speaker 1: Like with a song like boosted Up, Like that's a
- 12:44Speaker 1: song about God to going harder in your faith. But
- 12:47Speaker 1: when you put that thing on, you get sneeze to it,
- 12:48Speaker 1: squabble to it, you can go crazy to it, and
- 12:51Speaker 1: it's not going to scare them away. And for christ
- 12:53Speaker 1: like California the album, really that was me like blending
- 12:57Speaker 1: my faith with the culture. You know what I'm saying,
- 12:59Speaker 1: because you're gonna get this cross like message, but with
- 13:01Speaker 1: the California sounds stop no, it sound great. Yeah, I
- 13:03Speaker 1: appreciate it bro, But yeah, man, we're just trying to
- 13:06Speaker 1: trying to figure it out as we go. No, I
- 13:08Speaker 1: mean it's working man grateful.
- 13:11Speaker 2: Do they have any Christian rap beefs happening? You know?
- 13:17Speaker 1: Yes there is, yes, wow, yes, but a lot of
- 13:20Speaker 1: it is like like on the low, like.
- 13:22Speaker 2: On the under, people hating on the low.
- 13:24Speaker 1: On the under you'll be surprised, like how many unreleased
- 13:26Speaker 1: Christian disc songs you will.
- 13:28Speaker 2: Find it's very Unchristian like.
- 13:30Speaker 1: No for really, that's why they don't put it out. Wow,
- 13:32Speaker 1: that's why they don't release it.
- 13:34Speaker 2: You and the Craig got beef. It started the Kendrick verse.
- 13:39Speaker 2: Drake things sounds. I know, they're not like us freestyle.
- 13:41Speaker 1: Right, so did so did uh? So.
- 13:45Speaker 2: I'm just curious here because Christian rappers beefing with each
- 13:48Speaker 2: other just feels it just feels it feels like an oxymoron.
- 13:51Speaker 1: But you know what people have, You know what, people
- 13:54Speaker 1: tend to use my songs to subliminately dis other people
- 13:58Speaker 1: on them.
- 13:59Speaker 2: Oh so you have songs with features where other guys.
- 14:02Speaker 1: Like, why you gotta do that? All by soul? Like
- 14:04Speaker 1: they don't drop names, but it's like you're clearly talking
- 14:06Speaker 1: about so and so on my song.
- 14:08Speaker 2: It's like, when you hear that, do you send them
- 14:10Speaker 2: a text and say ww JD. Jesus wouldn't diss somebody
- 14:15Speaker 2: on my song, don't sub somebody on my shit?
- 14:18Speaker 1: Hey hey, but but you will be told Jesus was
- 14:21Speaker 1: low key dissing a lot of people in a Bible.
- 14:23Speaker 1: Satan for sure, if you look at it, you don't
- 14:25Speaker 1: say the overreligious folks.
- 14:27Speaker 2: Here was smoke for Satan and the overreligious folks.
- 14:30Speaker 1: And the over religious.
- 14:31Speaker 2: Do you think overreligious people are a problem?
- 14:33Speaker 1: Absolutely?
- 14:34Speaker 2: Yeah? What would you just find is overreligious?
- 14:36Speaker 1: Okay? Okay, I think I think. I think it's a
- 14:40Speaker 1: good thing to really break down. So an example of
- 14:43Speaker 1: somebody being overreligious is, let's say the protesters that come
- 14:47Speaker 1: to my events. We get protested a lot by certain
- 14:49Speaker 1: religious groups that say what you're doing you satanic? Is demonic.
- 14:53Speaker 1: God doesn't approve trust me.
- 14:54Speaker 2: I walk by them all the time. I go to
- 14:55Speaker 2: wrestling shows, and these guys are they got fucking signs
- 14:58Speaker 2: and megaphones screaming at me, and I'm just like dude,
- 15:02Speaker 2: and it's like, I think this is how like you're
- 15:04Speaker 2: gonna like? This is not how it's done, buddy.
- 15:08Speaker 1: You know what I mean, It's like I respect like
- 15:09Speaker 1: the heart behind it. They may think they're doing the
- 15:11Speaker 1: right thing, but like, Bro, that's that's not how you.
- 15:14Speaker 1: You're not going to reach me that way. You're not
- 15:17Speaker 1: going to get me to change that way. Even if
- 15:18Speaker 1: I felt like I wanted to change off for what
- 15:20Speaker 1: you're saying, it's not going to happen through that sit
- 15:23Speaker 1: down with me. Yeah, send me a DMR, talk to
- 15:26Speaker 1: somebody that.
- 15:27Speaker 2: I mean, but you're putting out great music. That's about.
- 15:31Speaker 1: I think. I think what they want from me is
- 15:33Speaker 1: the overtness that maybe other artists offer.
- 15:37Speaker 2: Tell them to go protest Sexy Red not you ship bro. Bro.
- 15:41Speaker 1: We did an event in downtown LA called Glovember. There
- 15:44Speaker 1: was a rave next.
- 15:45Speaker 2: Door to our event, but there are protesting you.
- 15:49Speaker 1: I'm like, yo, if you want to come against darkness, right,
- 15:52Speaker 1: go next door.
- 15:52Speaker 2: Everyone's on ecstasy next door.
- 15:54Speaker 1: You feel what I'm saying. Yeah, So I don't know that.
- 15:57Speaker 1: To me, that's that's overreligious. But we just try to
- 16:00Speaker 1: We try to really live for the Lord and just
- 16:02Speaker 1: be ourselves.
- 16:02Speaker 2: What was what? What? What kind of was the catalyst
- 16:06Speaker 2: to you finding Christ? And you know giving your life. Hey,
- 16:12Speaker 2: it's a good hazus out there. Yeah.
- 16:13Speaker 1: Yeah. Two two two things, two things. One day when
- 16:16Speaker 1: I was sixteen years old, it was a Wednesday night.
- 16:17Speaker 1: I was smoking weed heavy in the middle of a
- 16:20Speaker 1: smoking session. Good Wednesday, Yeah, good good, good weed Wednesday.
- 16:24Speaker 1: My friend was like, hey, Miles, bro, we should go
- 16:27Speaker 1: to church. I'm like, go to church. Hi like Hi,
- 16:31Speaker 1: talking about great time, were talking about go to church.
- 16:33Speaker 1: It's like, Bro, they got the girls of the youth group.
- 16:34Speaker 1: Bro go crazy, like, let's tap in, let's really go
- 16:38Speaker 1: uh high out some girls. And so we went. But
- 16:41Speaker 1: the youth group was closed that night, and so we
- 16:43Speaker 1: went into the main the main sanctuary with all the
- 16:45Speaker 1: older people. So we went in there and then me
- 16:48Speaker 1: never been in a church before. I've never been a
- 16:51Speaker 1: church person. I don't know on the music, I didn't
- 16:53Speaker 1: know anything about it. But in the service, I was
- 16:55Speaker 1: like captivated.
- 16:56Speaker 2: What kind of church was this? Was this a black church?
- 16:59Speaker 1: Black church? I was captivated. Then at the end of
- 17:02Speaker 1: the message, the pastor that was called an altar call,
- 17:04Speaker 1: where you called somebody to the front they want to
- 17:05Speaker 1: accept the Lord. And when I went to the front,
- 17:08Speaker 1: me being the only one that went to the front.
- 17:10Speaker 1: It's like I was uncontrollably like crying my eyes out,
- 17:13Speaker 1: and I literally felt something I never felt before. It
- 17:18Speaker 1: was like a warmth and embrace, you know what I'm saying.
- 17:20Speaker 2: And so that wasn't the weed, Brother, wasn't the weed.
- 17:24Speaker 1: It felt It felt like God took way one high
- 17:26Speaker 1: and gave me annoying that night.
- 17:28Speaker 2: Just so we're clear, the night you accepted God, you
- 17:31Speaker 2: were high.
- 17:34Speaker 1: That's great, yeah, yeah, but but I was still like
- 17:37Speaker 1: like on the fence about it, even even with that moment.
- 17:40Speaker 1: But two years after that, I was like in a
- 17:43Speaker 1: tug of war for my soul. Real Like my friends
- 17:45Speaker 1: in the streets was like Myles bro, like, why are
- 17:47Speaker 1: you switching up? Then my girlfriend at the time, who's
- 17:49Speaker 1: not my wife, she was like, let's go to church morrow.
- 17:52Speaker 1: Let's really like try to get better with this. And
- 17:53Speaker 1: so on a Saturday night, I'm like, God, if you're real,
- 17:56Speaker 1: I need you to speak to me in church tomorrow
- 17:58Speaker 1: if you're real. If not, then I'll just live my
- 18:01Speaker 1: own life. I went to Hurst the next day. Out
- 18:04Speaker 1: of nowhere, the guest speaker from Atlanta seize me in
- 18:08Speaker 1: the back. He said, you young man, come here, calls
- 18:10Speaker 1: me out of a whole church, a whole crowded church.
- 18:13Speaker 1: I came to the front. He was like, young man,
- 18:14Speaker 1: I don't know what's going on in your life, but
- 18:16Speaker 1: I feel like your call to do music for God.
- 18:18Speaker 1: God's gonna use you on social media. God's going to
- 18:20Speaker 1: change your life and all of these things. Right, tell
- 18:23Speaker 1: me things about myself. I didn't never talk nobody. He
- 18:25Speaker 1: didn't know I was struggling. He didn't know who He
- 18:27Speaker 1: didn't know who I was.
- 18:28Speaker 2: Who was this guy?
- 18:29Speaker 1: His name is Apostle Hardened. I never met him, No,
- 18:33Speaker 1: no James Harden, but told me that and then that
- 18:37Speaker 1: that was like okay, like I feel like.
- 18:40Speaker 2: This is to Apostle Harden. That guy he's on his ship.
- 18:43Speaker 1: Hey red no cap damn. He was tapped in.
- 18:47Speaker 2: So he was just like he kind of just like
- 18:50Speaker 2: showed you the way, like, oh, this is this is
- 18:52Speaker 2: the right path I need to go on.
- 18:53Speaker 1: I feel like God answered my prayer through him calling
- 18:55Speaker 1: me out to the front.
- 18:56Speaker 2: That's nah, I mean I get it. That shit's crazy.
- 18:59Speaker 2: They asked him before and then he called out the
- 19:01Speaker 2: music and the social media and wild and at that
- 19:04Speaker 2: so what year, how long ago?
- 19:06Speaker 1: Is this rather that I was October fourteenth, twenty twelve.
- 19:11Speaker 1: Oh shit, that was twenty twelve. Like I didn't fully
- 19:15Speaker 1: dive into the music at that time, but that's when
- 19:18Speaker 1: I knew eventually.
- 19:19Speaker 2: So from twenty twelve to like twenty eighteen, what are
- 19:21Speaker 2: you doing to make money? You just got a regular job?
- 19:23Speaker 2: What are you So?
- 19:25Speaker 1: I was working at a movie theater at that time,
- 19:27Speaker 1: My Cinemas in Pittsburgh. Then I was working at Willis
- 19:29Speaker 1: Fargo for like four years, then Travis Credit Union.
- 19:33Speaker 2: So you were at the bank.
- 19:35Speaker 1: Yeah, I was a little banker.
- 19:37Speaker 2: You're good with math, yeah, but I hated it. I
- 19:40Speaker 2: did not like yo when you guys would like, my
- 19:42Speaker 2: friend manages bank and every time there's like sixty dollars missing.
- 19:48Speaker 2: She's the manager, so she has to go through the
- 19:50Speaker 2: entire day. Sometimes she'll be at the bank until like
- 19:54Speaker 2: eleven o'clock at night trying to track down we're sixty.
- 19:56Speaker 1: Dollars Truma, bro don't even And that's how I got
- 20:01Speaker 1: That's how I got fired from the bank twenty nineteen.
- 20:03Speaker 2: Well, it could be it could be like that, but
- 20:05Speaker 2: but it's like if you can't find where the money's
- 20:08Speaker 2: missing it's on you, right, yeah.
- 20:10Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 20:10Speaker 2: And sometimes it's like somebody goes to the bank and
- 20:13Speaker 2: they and you give them too much money. That's they're
- 20:17Speaker 2: not gonna give it back to you.
- 20:18Speaker 1: Sometimes sometimes but most of the time of course not
- 20:21Speaker 1: you would give it back. Presley's working in the hood.
- 20:23Speaker 1: We worked in Antioch. Yeah, all kinds of people.
- 20:26Speaker 2: Shout out to Woody rest in peace. Big tones from
- 20:31Speaker 2: antioc Oh yeah, yeah, Hey, Simbuls from Antioch.
- 20:35Speaker 1: Yes he is. Yeah, that long Tree Deer Valley legend
- 20:40Speaker 1: him a young Kurt was really putting on.
- 20:42Speaker 2: But yeah, no, I just so you were you were
- 20:45Speaker 2: just doing the normal shit. So you start taking music
- 20:47Speaker 2: series again at twenty eighteen, yep, yep for Shelly.
- 20:50Speaker 1: So how many I was a youth pastor too during
- 20:52Speaker 1: the time I was working at the bank, so I'm
- 20:54Speaker 1: at the charge like he's young people and stuff too.
- 20:56Speaker 2: How many?
- 20:56Speaker 1: Uh?
- 20:57Speaker 2: Like, how long before you actually started to like catch
- 20:59Speaker 2: real track should doing this new style of music and
- 21:02Speaker 2: you were like, oh, this is gonna work, like this
- 21:04Speaker 2: might work out, like immediately immediately.
- 21:06Speaker 1: Yeah, immediately. It's been it's been a slow burn, but
- 21:09Speaker 1: I had any immediate spark.
- 21:10Speaker 2: Well, you're also pretty talented. So like a lot of
- 21:12Speaker 2: Christian rappers aren't that talented, you know, from what I've heard,
- 21:16Speaker 2: at least, the only one I can point at is
- 21:19Speaker 2: L Craze.
- 21:19Speaker 1: I'm gonna put you on some dope ones.
- 21:21Speaker 2: Do you remember a guy named Carmen back in the
- 21:23Speaker 2: day who used to sing on like Channel Towell, on
- 21:26Speaker 2: like the Christian TV. His name was Carmen Carmen, I
- 21:29Speaker 2: don't know, Oh my god. So I been to black
- 21:32Speaker 2: churches many times as my best friends, like very religious,
- 21:37Speaker 2: grew up with him, would go to church with him.
- 21:40Speaker 2: And every time I'd be like the only white kid
- 21:42Speaker 2: and that motherfucker and I feel like the preacher would
- 21:44Speaker 2: be looking right at me, and I just feel and
- 21:47Speaker 2: I have all these older black ladies dancing and losing
- 21:50Speaker 2: their shit. Yeah, sitting there just shook, like, man, why
- 21:57Speaker 2: do I spend on that at this one's house this weekend?
- 22:01Speaker 2: But there was this but he used to listened to
- 22:04Speaker 2: Christian music at his house. There's a guy named Carmen,
- 22:06Speaker 2: and then obviously Kirk Franklin, you know.
- 22:09Speaker 1: Yeah, Kirk still going crazy to this day.
- 22:11Speaker 2: Apply stunt double.
- 22:14Speaker 1: As plies five.
- 22:15Speaker 2: Well no, no, yeah, plies is history. Yeah, it could
- 22:18Speaker 2: be plies that. Yeah, but no, I mean, like, obviously
- 22:22Speaker 2: your shit is actually dope, so like it's immediately you
- 22:25Speaker 2: saw that it was going to work.
- 22:26Speaker 1: Immediately, I felt like, you know, it was not for
- 22:29Speaker 1: me to dive into it. So I was doing everything
- 22:30Speaker 1: that I could to really try to pop off and
- 22:33Speaker 1: gain some traction. So I was dropping freestyle videos, was
- 22:35Speaker 1: going kind of crazy on Instagram. But I was also
- 22:37Speaker 1: doing every kind of show I could, community show, church show,
- 22:40Speaker 1: even like these awards ceremonies for rappers in the Bay
- 22:43Speaker 1: and so this one is called the non Quota Awards
- 22:45Speaker 1: for the Not Too five area code in Pittsburgh. That
- 22:47Speaker 1: happened in twenty eighteen. I was the only Christian rapper
- 22:50Speaker 1: a part of the show. And in the middle of
- 22:52Speaker 1: my set, while I'm performing, the music cuts out right
- 22:56Speaker 1: as it cuts out. Instead of me panicking being pissed
- 22:59Speaker 1: at the sound man, I just frezed out a hook.
- 23:01Speaker 1: Devil want to run up on me? It's bad. Somebody
- 23:04Speaker 1: recorded it. It went viral on Facebook. The whole theater
- 23:06Speaker 1: went dumb to that joint. And that was my first
- 23:09Speaker 1: song that really like in California, That's do Yeah, it's
- 23:13Speaker 1: kind of crazy, kind of crazy. Yeah, So that that
- 23:16Speaker 1: like had my schedule going nuts. Like my my tour
- 23:19Speaker 1: schedule was like an engine scroll you have to.
- 23:21Speaker 2: Like so you're doing like concerts, you're doing like church stuff.
- 23:26Speaker 1: Like all of the above. Like so I was throwing
- 23:28Speaker 1: my own shows, but primarily I was getting booked at
- 23:31Speaker 1: conferences at churches and youth groups and all of that.
- 23:34Speaker 1: But it would be lit and I would post the
- 23:36Speaker 1: footage and it's like, you couldn't really tell it's a church.
- 23:39Speaker 1: It looks like it's a lit concert, you know what
- 23:41Speaker 1: I'm saying.
- 23:42Speaker 2: So I gotta ask you because I, uh, I was
- 23:45Speaker 2: just listening to a podcast about uh about religion a
- 23:49Speaker 2: little bit. But they were talking about Joe Olstein and
- 23:54Speaker 2: what's the guy with the evil eyes who got the
- 23:56Speaker 2: private jet? Oh uh, the white dude.
- 24:00Speaker 1: No, not Kraftlow, it's the white dude.
- 24:02Speaker 2: You know what I'm talking about.
- 24:03Speaker 1: I know he's talking about that, ye like a real
- 24:05Speaker 1: like he was like Tyler Perry made it so cheap
- 24:07Speaker 1: for me. I had to buy it.
- 24:09Speaker 2: I had to buy Yeah, he's he's he's the richest
- 24:13Speaker 2: pastor in the world right now, just for people know
- 24:14Speaker 2: he's worth like one hundred million dollars. He's more rich
- 24:17Speaker 2: than Joelstein, like he's.
- 24:19Speaker 1: Paid because he's like internationally influenced.
- 24:22Speaker 2: Correct anyway, So you know, my main gripe with religion
- 24:26Speaker 2: in general is the I feel like it is easily
- 24:33Speaker 2: manipulated to control poor people. And I feel like, you know,
- 24:40Speaker 2: the whole entire like idea of being a pastor or
- 24:43Speaker 2: being like a preacher, being somebody who's like a man
- 24:46Speaker 2: of God is like to be selfless. That should be
- 24:49Speaker 2: the idea, you know what I mean. And you know,
- 24:53Speaker 2: I feel like at times we'll see like these preachers
- 24:57Speaker 2: who will fully take advantage of the gig of having
- 25:01Speaker 2: a non non taxable entity that they're a part of, yes,
- 25:09Speaker 2: and you know they use it for their benefit, and
- 25:12Speaker 2: you know it is what it is. But you know,
- 25:16Speaker 2: me and my boy James are just talking and he
- 25:17Speaker 2: was like, it's crazy because he grew up in the church,
- 25:19Speaker 2: and he was like, he's a stand up comedian. He's like,
- 25:22Speaker 2: being a preacher is kind of like being a stand
- 25:23Speaker 2: up comedian. He's like, because you gotta you gotta kind
- 25:27Speaker 2: of like spit your shit.
- 25:28Speaker 1: You gotta captivate them.
- 25:29Speaker 2: And then you gotta hopefully you get your own church,
- 25:33Speaker 2: and then otherwise people are doing like there's preachers who
- 25:36Speaker 2: are preaching in like a room like this with chairs
- 25:39Speaker 2: and then you know, eventually they get their own church.
- 25:41Speaker 2: He's like, the thing is is like I just feel
- 25:44Speaker 2: like it's crazy. If like a preacher comes to preach
- 25:47Speaker 2: in like a two thousand dollars suit and then goes
- 25:49Speaker 2: and jumps in like a S five hundred.
- 25:51Speaker 1: They're likely and their church is falling apart.
- 25:53Speaker 2: It ain't even that. It's like, yo, like, isn't that
- 25:57Speaker 2: kind of like not what God would want? Or I'm crazy?
- 26:00Speaker 2: Like Joel Olstein is so rich and my and this
- 26:05Speaker 2: podcast I was listening to was like Joe Olstein such
- 26:07Speaker 2: a great motivational speaker that if he just stepped away
- 26:11Speaker 2: from being a quote unquote preacher and was a motivational
- 26:13Speaker 2: speaker who happened to be Christian, people would look at
- 26:16Speaker 2: him in like a lot more like a positive way
- 26:17Speaker 2: because he's like very talented. He's a talented a lot
- 26:20Speaker 2: of these guys very uplifting talented guys. But at the
- 26:23Speaker 2: same time, like it's the same guy who like initially
- 26:27Speaker 2: tried to prevent people from sheltering at his church until
- 26:30Speaker 2: he got called out for and then he was like,
- 26:32Speaker 2: oh no, no, no, But that's probably my biggest gripe
- 26:36Speaker 2: with like commercial Christianity is like a lot of the
- 26:40Speaker 2: quote unquote like faces of it to me or like
- 26:46Speaker 2: based on my knowledge of Christianity not very christ like.
- 26:50Speaker 1: M Yeah, I've definitely, I've definitely seen what you're talking about.
- 26:53Speaker 1: Of course is like a well known thing as some
- 26:55Speaker 1: pastors may have been exposed for those kind of things.
- 26:58Speaker 1: Or I've been at churches to where the doorknobs are missing,
- 27:01Speaker 1: but you have a Bentley, the paint is falling off
- 27:03Speaker 1: of the walls, but you got the friend gatas on.
- 27:05Speaker 1: Like a lot of stuff din't add up for.
- 27:06Speaker 2: Me, none of that makes sense.
- 27:07Speaker 1: Yeah, but for me early on, it's like I had
- 27:10Speaker 1: to realize, like it would be unhealthy for me to
- 27:13Speaker 1: let Christians take me away from Christ. You know what
- 27:17Speaker 1: I'm saying, Like, regardless of what they are doing, God
- 27:20Speaker 1: didn't do this to me. People are flawed, you know
- 27:22Speaker 1: what I'm saying, But but but God is not. So
- 27:25Speaker 1: that's that keeps me like focused, like even though they're
- 27:27Speaker 1: wild'n out sleeping with whoever. You know what I'm saying,
- 27:30Speaker 1: steal the money from whatever. I know? God is still good.
- 27:33Speaker 2: Would you ever actually like be a preacher? Obviously you
- 27:36Speaker 2: did youth pastoring, but would you ever like, you know,
- 27:38Speaker 2: try to like be like yo, I'm a fucking like
- 27:42Speaker 2: leave music and do that like maybe when you're fifty.
- 27:46Speaker 2: I mean, you know, I won't.
- 27:47Speaker 1: Close the door to it because I'm a preacher now
- 27:49Speaker 1: for real?
- 27:50Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I mean you preach, hear music. Yeah, but
- 27:52Speaker 2: you're still an artist. You're not a preacher. So yeah,
- 27:54Speaker 2: you're dope artists who happens to you know like that.
- 27:56Speaker 2: There's a line there.
- 27:57Speaker 1: It's like I know how to how to I guess
- 28:00Speaker 1: convinced people of the message at the concerts too. It's like,
- 28:03Speaker 1: all righty to boost it up for the Lord. I mean,
- 28:06Speaker 1: I'll use that voice. But you know what I'm saying,
- 28:08Speaker 1: I hype them up and contract.
- 28:11Speaker 2: He said, what anybody ever fight at your shows?
- 28:15Speaker 1: Somebody? Somebody somebody ran up on me on stage Christian
- 28:19Speaker 1: Rapper in Long Beach. No, not on Chris or Rapper.
- 28:24Speaker 2: Uh.
- 28:24Speaker 1: He tried to press me in the middle of my concert.
- 28:27Speaker 2: What where was your security? No?
- 28:30Speaker 1: But you but you know what. Security came like ten
- 28:32Speaker 1: seconds after. They probably thought I was a part of
- 28:34Speaker 1: the act because I'll be having a lot.
- 28:35Speaker 2: Of trying to press you in Long Beach.
- 28:37Speaker 1: Yeah, because like somebody was in the crowd like let
- 28:40Speaker 1: the little kids get on stage, and I was kind
- 28:43Speaker 1: of like dismissive a little bit like maybe later on,
- 28:45Speaker 1: later on. And then he was like, but this about
- 28:48Speaker 1: the young people, and he got on stage really try
- 28:51Speaker 1: to like you know in LA. They be like, you
- 28:54Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, that's crazy, But security pulled up
- 28:56Speaker 1: on them. They pulled them in the parking lot. He
- 28:58Speaker 1: look he started to like like exorcist type energy. He
- 29:02Speaker 1: was like manifested. I'm like, yo, what is going on? Wait?
- 29:06Speaker 2: The dude tried to press you started like he like
- 29:07Speaker 2: fell out and was like, oh I'm saved.
- 29:10Speaker 1: No, kind of like he had a demon in them.
- 29:13Speaker 1: That was great. So that that was the only like
- 29:16Speaker 1: situation that came close to like a confrontation physically. But yeah,
- 29:21Speaker 1: bro was on one. It could have been the ecstasy.
- 29:24Speaker 1: I don't know, have you ever.
- 29:27Speaker 2: Seen someone get exorcists exercisted?
- 29:29Speaker 1: What is that?
- 29:30Speaker 2: I said?
- 29:30Speaker 1: That exercise? I think they call it an exercise. You
- 29:34Speaker 1: know a month ago, what a month ago? I've seen
- 29:39Speaker 1: it and see me. Valley tried to see me, Valley, man,
- 29:43Speaker 1: they seen real calm. I might get a spot out there,
- 29:46Speaker 1: you see me value place. I went to Revelations Church
- 29:50Speaker 1: with Pastor Lovy and y'all, I'm telling you, people drive
- 29:55Speaker 1: from all over the country to go to this man's church. Yeah,
- 29:58Speaker 1: he's ministering to the this young lady and she's like
- 30:02Speaker 1: kind of like crying, like Pastor, I need help, I
- 30:04Speaker 1: need help, And he's being encouraging to her. Then all
- 30:06Speaker 1: of a sudden he stops talking to her and talk
- 30:08Speaker 1: to something that's inside her. He was like, come out
- 30:11Speaker 1: of her right now, and she went from to.
- 30:15Speaker 2: Get got the fuck up out.
- 30:17Speaker 1: Yeah, Like her eyes was like I'd have been out
- 30:21Speaker 1: and then like come out of her right now. Then
- 30:23Speaker 1: she like melted to the ground. I'm like, oh lord,
- 30:28Speaker 1: it was wild.
- 30:30Speaker 2: You stayed I'd have been all right, y'all.
- 30:34Speaker 1: And that was the first one of the night. It
- 30:36Speaker 1: was like four of them, four x. It was like
- 30:38Speaker 1: four of them on a Thursday night. I'm good man, Yeah,
- 30:43Speaker 1: shout out to the prophet LOGI that's crazy.
- 30:46Speaker 2: Uh you gotta Obviously your album's out, Uh are you, like,
- 30:51Speaker 2: I know you got a show coming up in Orange County,
- 30:53Speaker 2: but are you doing like a national tour? What's going
- 30:55Speaker 2: on with you right now?
- 30:56Speaker 1: Yeah? We're playing Well, we just came off of a tour.
- 30:59Speaker 1: The first leg across like tour. We was in Canada, Seattle, Portland,
- 31:04Speaker 1: Las Vegas, Phoenix, Houston, Atlanta, Detroit, Milwaukee, you know what
- 31:08Speaker 1: I'm saying. But we're going to extend that joint and
- 31:10Speaker 1: really the next top for us is this Saturday. We
- 31:13Speaker 1: have our own festival every year in the Bay. It's
- 31:16Speaker 1: called glow Fest, and so this year is going to
- 31:18Speaker 1: be massive. Is glow really going to be there?
- 31:21Speaker 2: You know what I'm kidding, Glowrilla Big Glow got to
- 31:26Speaker 2: come to glow Fest.
- 31:27Speaker 1: I ain't gonnaw. I was hot. I was hot when
- 31:28Speaker 1: she came out because I'm like, dang, like she got
- 31:30Speaker 1: that glow branding on lock, Like, oh yeah she got
- 31:33Speaker 1: it at first.
- 31:33Speaker 2: Our first yeah, glow Cubans and Grubans.
- 31:36Speaker 1: Our festival was called Glowcella at first.
- 31:39Speaker 2: Oh that's dope. And then you probably got hit with
- 31:41Speaker 2: that season desist.
- 31:42Speaker 1: Coachella did hit us yeah, of course they did. Yeah,
- 31:44Speaker 1: they hit us up.
- 31:45Speaker 2: Yeah, they don't play any type of cella, don't.
- 31:49Speaker 1: Exactly the word cella. Then like we own we own
- 31:51Speaker 1: the word chella, so you can't use this. And I
- 31:54Speaker 1: changed it to glow Fest and they still like came after.
- 31:57Speaker 2: Us, but no, wait, came after you for glow Fest.
- 32:01Speaker 1: So it's it's it's a whole story, man. We changed
- 32:03Speaker 1: the name of the Instagram from Gloateella to glow Fest,
- 32:05Speaker 1: but we had some fly another year in different parts
- 32:09Speaker 1: of the country, but not like, uh, they shut down
- 32:14Speaker 1: our page because we still had flyers up from last
- 32:16Speaker 1: year that said Glowatella on it. You know what I'm saying.
- 32:19Speaker 1: We tried to make a new page and that one
- 32:22Speaker 1: was shut down too. Damn they were serious. But now
- 32:27Speaker 1: we're working with Coachella. Shout out the Golden Voice.
- 32:29Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying, tried the Golden Voice.
- 32:31Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, are you?
- 32:32Speaker 2: Because I mean obviously that they I think they owned
- 32:34Speaker 2: the Observatory.
- 32:35Speaker 1: Right yeah, yeah, yeah they do.
- 32:37Speaker 2: Yeah man, so did they do Coachella too? Damn them, motherfuckers.
- 32:42Speaker 2: Glow Fests are rich Golden Voice whatever. You know what
- 32:48Speaker 2: I meant guys are rich too speak prophetic, put it
- 32:53Speaker 2: in the air. Yeah yeah, but who else is dope?
- 32:56Speaker 2: That's a Christian rapper that I should check out.
- 32:58Speaker 1: Oh you to check out somebody named Hovey Hoby hit
- 33:02Speaker 1: a song with Sierra. He's sough, he's more overt, but
- 33:05Speaker 1: the vibes are there.
- 33:07Speaker 2: Is that the guy who subbed someone on your song?
- 33:09Speaker 1: No, not him, not him, he's too holy for that.
- 33:12Speaker 1: Uh and Holy Caleb Caleb Gordon Caleb Gordon's super Fire. Yeah,
- 33:17Speaker 1: probably the next to willly go mainstream with it. Who
- 33:21Speaker 1: who am I?
- 33:23Speaker 2: John?
- 33:24Speaker 1: Keith John? Keep going crazy here a real rapper, rapper.
- 33:27Speaker 1: We're working on the project together called the West Indies.
- 33:29Speaker 2: You guys are doing like a joint album, like.
- 33:31Speaker 1: A joint joint EP with five songs. West Indies capitalized
- 33:35Speaker 1: on the on the movement and of course La Cree
- 33:38Speaker 1: any mineo Hey, Andy's Dope, Andy Hard And it is
- 33:43Speaker 1: like a perfect example.
- 33:44Speaker 2: Of a guy who's like, you know it, content is
- 33:47Speaker 2: his content, but like he just makes no music. You're
- 33:50Speaker 2: listening to it and you're like, oh, this guy's I
- 33:53Speaker 2: know where he stands on the religious side.
- 33:55Speaker 1: Yeah, he's talking about God. You know what I'm saying.
- 33:57Speaker 1: So he's one of our goats, craning Andy, those are
- 34:01Speaker 1: our goats for sure. I mean, this is this a
- 34:03Speaker 1: whole movement. There's too many for me.
- 34:05Speaker 2: Kanye is not a Christian rapper. Goat No, they asked,
- 34:08Speaker 2: you know, he wasn't. He didn't. He win Best Christian
- 34:11Speaker 2: Album of the Year at the Grammy.
- 34:12Speaker 1: He topped all the charts. He won Best Christian Album.
- 34:15Speaker 2: Hey Jesus Walks. It's a great record.
- 34:20Speaker 1: That joint is mount Rush Moore of Christmas song.
- 34:22Speaker 2: I mean, look, and he had hell of people singing
- 34:27Speaker 2: about Jesus that would not have otherwise sang about Jesus.
- 34:30Speaker 1: Yeah, but I think I think we can't. We can't
- 34:32Speaker 1: put him up there because like it was short lived.
- 34:35Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, look, Kanye is a flawed man, but
- 34:39Speaker 2: he's you know, He's also got the biggest Christian rap
- 34:41Speaker 2: song of all time.
- 34:42Speaker 1: It's the biggest, But is it the best?
- 34:45Speaker 2: In my opinion?
- 34:46Speaker 1: Was that Oh yeah? The song?
- 34:51Speaker 2: Yeah, a song I don't know about No No, No, No,
- 34:54Speaker 2: No No Now. Jesus King album. He great beats shots
- 34:57Speaker 2: and my guy books to be s murdered. The production
- 34:59Speaker 2: on there, but it's just Miss Moors Kanye album in
- 35:02Speaker 2: my opinion, just respectfully, what do you listen to non
- 35:06Speaker 2: Christian rap music in your spare time? Or do you
- 35:08Speaker 2: not want you try to shake that energy?
- 35:11Speaker 1: I'll make sure I don't. I don't dive in too
- 35:13Speaker 1: deep into the rabbit hole, you know what I'm saying.
- 35:15Speaker 1: But I'm definitely tapping.
- 35:16Speaker 2: Because that's probably rub off on you a little, like
- 35:18Speaker 2: some of the energy I.
- 35:20Speaker 1: Mean, but it would be foolish for me to not
- 35:22Speaker 1: to not be tapped.
- 35:23Speaker 2: Like who you're listening to? That's like not like who
- 35:26Speaker 2: you bumping? Like who you like? What are you a
- 35:27Speaker 2: fan of? Right now?
- 35:28Speaker 1: Am I bumping? That's not? Oh? Can I say this
- 35:31Speaker 1: on air? I like listening to a lot of underground artists?
- 35:34Speaker 2: What's that? Because I know what underground is for my day,
- 35:37Speaker 2: which literally underground, like the underground now is like yo,
- 35:40Speaker 2: I like logic.
- 35:41Speaker 1: Like logic is definitely not underground and shout out to logic.
- 35:46Speaker 2: People think Corda is underground, right, Corday is like an
- 35:49Speaker 2: undergroundish artist, but he's still underground. No, But he's like
- 35:57Speaker 2: if he was in if it was ninety nine, he'd
- 35:59Speaker 2: be underground. Common was underground. No, Common don't have one plaque.
- 36:04Speaker 2: That's a crazy thing to say out loud. Common has
- 36:06Speaker 2: much more than one plaque. You gotta relax with that.
- 36:10Speaker 2: No Common was a underground rapper. I literally just told
- 36:14Speaker 2: him to his face. I said, thank you for changing
- 36:16Speaker 2: my life. You're an I never met a backpack underground
- 36:20Speaker 2: rap anyway. The new definition of underground is an underground playboy.
- 36:26Speaker 2: Cardi's underground to an extent. Is he a commercial artist?
- 36:31Speaker 2: Is he commercially successful? Of course not. Have you ever
- 36:33Speaker 2: turned on the fucking radio and her to playbook Cardis
- 36:35Speaker 2: song in the last five years? No, you haven't, because
- 36:36Speaker 2: he's not. He's he's an underground cult artist. No. But
- 36:43Speaker 2: has he ever had a number a top five solo
- 36:45Speaker 2: Billboard record, a top ten solo Billboard record? Of course not.
- 36:49Speaker 1: He hasn't.
- 36:50Speaker 2: No Roadwave broadwave is not underground. Yeah, but he's making
- 36:56Speaker 2: commercially palatable music.
- 36:58Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 36:58Speaker 2: Okay, So who are listening to I.
- 37:01Speaker 1: Think it's crazy about how he's not underground, but he's
- 37:03Speaker 1: selling out arenas or he is underground something Rod waving
- 37:06Speaker 1: him like it's crazy. How you don't have to be
- 37:08Speaker 1: like mainstream, but you could.
- 37:09Speaker 2: Like gold Rod number one Records in urban radio, so
- 37:13Speaker 2: I wouldn't consider him underground.
- 37:15Speaker 1: But for me, underground for me is like Zoel Sama.
- 37:20Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. Yellow Hill Aten.
- 37:24Speaker 2: Hey, Yellow Hills put out some our boy TK who
- 37:27Speaker 2: did his Christian rap song that he has with La
- 37:29Speaker 2: Cra who's recorded and produced right here by our team
- 37:31Speaker 2: here for real.
- 37:32Speaker 1: Yes, yeah, men, Yellow Hill been talking we're gonna link up.
- 37:35Speaker 2: Yeah, y'all was Yellow Hill now he'd be cripp let
- 37:39Speaker 2: me say he'd be aggressive.
- 37:41Speaker 1: He really just like, Oh, come to l A. He
- 37:44Speaker 1: l A l A.
- 37:45Speaker 2: L A is not safe.
- 37:46Speaker 1: L A is not safe.
- 37:47Speaker 2: It's Yellow Hell.
- 37:49Speaker 1: I'm like, do I be going that hard for the Bay? Like?
- 37:51Speaker 1: Am I that Bay? How he is? L A? Is
- 37:53Speaker 1: that that brother?
- 37:55Speaker 2: LA person alive?
- 37:56Speaker 1: Alive brother? And he'll let you know at all at
- 38:02Speaker 1: all it ain't safe for the toy.
- 38:04Speaker 2: Shout out to Jesus anyway, shouts shout to him and
- 38:07Speaker 2: look crazy. They got a dope song out produced.
- 38:10Speaker 1: Yeah that's hard. Yeah, No, Yellow He is underground Yeah
- 38:13Speaker 1: yeah for solely uh HPK get under ground. My favorite
- 38:16Speaker 1: rapper to this day is I Am.
- 38:17Speaker 2: Sue shot to Bay Area Pioneer.
- 38:20Speaker 1: Shout out to Sue, we got a record too. Oh
- 38:23Speaker 1: my god, he put me on a record. Uh he's
- 38:26Speaker 1: singing on that joint, you know, talking about.
- 38:29Speaker 2: What God is stuff him, shot out to Sue.
- 38:31Speaker 1: Man I was probably more more edgy on that than
- 38:33Speaker 1: he was. Yes, shout out time I got him anyone.
- 38:37Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying, But go crazy, though.
- 38:39Speaker 2: You should do it like I already know you already
- 38:41Speaker 2: did not like us freestyle, but you should do like
- 38:43Speaker 2: a not like us. But you're rapping like your God
- 38:45Speaker 2: to the devil.
- 38:47Speaker 1: Oh are you dirty devil?
- 38:50Speaker 2: Or do the euphoria version? That's why you bach ask Satan.
- 38:54Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying, Rapping to euphoria is more
- 38:57Speaker 1: difficult than not like us.
- 38:58Speaker 2: Do meet the Grahams, but about the devil. And you're
- 39:01Speaker 2: like wrapping from the perspective of God.
- 39:02Speaker 1: And you journey devil. Understand you got kicked out of heaven.
- 39:07Speaker 1: There you go with a nasal flow.
- 39:11Speaker 2: Yeah, throw a little playboard CARDI sliding in there.
- 39:15Speaker 1: Oh my god, playboy. There. There was a point to
- 39:18Speaker 1: where his music was just like Vibby.
- 39:22Speaker 2: Really now, when he was rocking with a sap and uh,
- 39:25Speaker 2: you know the the Cozy Tapes era and and dilet
- 39:29Speaker 2: and then things just the Red tape what was it
- 39:31Speaker 2: called the Red album?
- 39:34Speaker 1: The Red album?
- 39:35Speaker 2: Whatever it is? That ship was.
- 39:37Speaker 1: You know, seeing seeing what he did at Rolling Loud
- 39:39Speaker 1: really inspired us to really go harder in our movement.
- 39:42Speaker 1: What do you do?
- 39:44Speaker 2: He brought some guy looks like he was on Heroin,
- 39:46Speaker 2: the white guy who was always with him, The guy
- 39:48Speaker 2: looks like he's got a serious Heroin problem.
- 39:50Speaker 1: And then they were just like, yeah it was it
- 39:53Speaker 1: was yeah, it was all of that. And so I'm like,
- 39:56Speaker 1: if they could do seemingly satanic stuff on a high level,
- 40:00Speaker 1: I know it.
- 40:00Speaker 2: Was seemingly satanic, but are we for sure it was satanic?
- 40:02Speaker 1: To me?
- 40:03Speaker 2: They were just screaming and looking looking like they were
- 40:06Speaker 2: if I'm.
- 40:07Speaker 1: Not mistaken to think you had like some logos that
- 40:08Speaker 1: pointed to Satanism up Cross. Yeah, yeah, it's like, what's
- 40:13Speaker 1: the if you're not as satan is, what's the point
- 40:16Speaker 1: of having that? You know what I'm saying?
- 40:18Speaker 2: So, is there is in his defense? Is there a
- 40:22Speaker 2: world in which and upside down Cross means anything else?
- 40:25Speaker 2: I just don't know. I'm not hip to the imagery.
- 40:31Speaker 1: You know, it's a possibility that it may be, but
- 40:33Speaker 1: from my understanding, it's it could be seen as blasphemy.
- 40:37Speaker 1: It could be seen as fo God. I think, you know, honey,
- 40:41Speaker 1: I think.
- 40:42Speaker 2: For the purpose of what they do, they just like
- 40:43Speaker 2: to put ship on shirts that they think looks cool.
- 40:45Speaker 1: And it could be for shock values. It could be
- 40:47Speaker 1: for shock value for sure. But you shocking the wrong people, boy.
- 40:51Speaker 2: Yeah, for sure?
- 40:54Speaker 1: Are you are?
- 40:54Speaker 2: You're just straight Christian?
- 40:55Speaker 1: Like? Is that?
- 40:55Speaker 2: Because there's so many different types of factions, you know,
- 40:58Speaker 2: it's like there's like Baptists, there's.
- 41:00Speaker 1: Like, yeah, like what what gang am I part of?
- 41:04Speaker 1: Which click do I associate with? It's I'm not a
- 41:08Speaker 1: part of any of them. So they like to call
- 41:11Speaker 1: that non denominational becausemination, yeah, those cliques are denominations.
- 41:14Speaker 2: Yeah, seven Day Adventis and I don't.
- 41:17Speaker 1: I don't subscribe to any of them, not to say
- 41:19Speaker 1: that I won't, but like, I never even understood why
- 41:22Speaker 1: we have to separate ourselves like that. It's like, you
- 41:24Speaker 1: believe in Jesus, you're a Christian er.
- 41:26Speaker 2: I don't know the difference between any of them, Like,
- 41:28Speaker 2: what's a Lutheran compared to a Baptist compared to a
- 41:31Speaker 2: seven day advantage compared. Now, I do know once you
- 41:34Speaker 2: start getting into you know, Hovah's witnesses, they got some
- 41:37Speaker 2: interesting takes and they're very aggressive on the door knocks.
- 41:40Speaker 1: Oh yeah, one hundred Jehovah's witnesses.
- 41:43Speaker 2: Don't play them in the Mormons. You know, they've got
- 41:47Speaker 2: Mormon fans, because that is a wild religion.
- 41:50Speaker 1: No, I do. Catholic Mormons and Adova witnesses. They believe
- 41:54Speaker 1: that only one hundred, one hundred thousand people get into heaven,
- 41:58Speaker 1: and so they're trying Mormons and Jehovah witnesses.
- 42:02Speaker 2: I think the Mormons, the Mormons believe some much more
- 42:04Speaker 2: crazier shit for the.
- 42:05Speaker 1: Rerect Yeah, I think. I think they believe in like
- 42:06Speaker 1: some aliens, and like I got.
- 42:07Speaker 2: Tons of Mormon homies. I grew up. I went to
- 42:09Speaker 2: high school in Mesa, Arizona, with tons of Mormons. Shout
- 42:12Speaker 2: to them, sweet people. Mitt Romney, you know, shout out
- 42:14Speaker 2: to him, whatever the fuck he's doing with his life.
- 42:16Speaker 2: You perform in Salt Lake City, yet.
- 42:19Speaker 1: No, I have not.
- 42:20Speaker 2: That's where you got all that. That's Mormon.
- 42:22Speaker 1: Mormon.
- 42:22Speaker 2: You got to pull up and when you get on
- 42:23Speaker 2: the mic, you gotta say choose the right, and they'll be.
- 42:26Speaker 1: Like, yeah, like on some Republican stuff.
- 42:29Speaker 2: No, choose the right is CTR. All the Mormons have
- 42:31Speaker 2: the CTR rings, so they call it the right.
- 42:35Speaker 1: Choose the right.
- 42:35Speaker 2: I don't know what it means. I just know it's
- 42:37Speaker 2: something Mormons be saying, choose CTR.
- 42:41Speaker 1: If I say that it's not some Republican they're gonna
- 42:43Speaker 1: impress me.
- 42:43Speaker 2: No, no, they're not. They're gonna be like, fuck, yeah.
- 42:46Speaker 1: Damn, what you know about the right, homie.
- 42:47Speaker 2: You know what's crazy though? When I was a kid,
- 42:49Speaker 2: like all the Mormons, like, you know, because the Mormons
- 42:51Speaker 2: are like super super nice people. They're really sweet people.
- 42:54Speaker 2: Obviously they're mostly conservative. Yeah, but all the Mormon kids
- 42:59Speaker 2: in school were the ones who were like doing the
- 43:02Speaker 2: real drugs. Like people got caught with heroin or pills.
- 43:06Speaker 2: It was the Mormon kids because I feel like they
- 43:09Speaker 2: was like rebelling against their crib because you know, at home,
- 43:12Speaker 2: may not allowed to drink caffeine, they can't watch the fuck.
- 43:16Speaker 1: It's real strict. It's real strict. And that's that's the
- 43:19Speaker 1: danger with religion. It's like if you heavily restrict the
- 43:23Speaker 1: kids at home, they're likely to just do any and
- 43:27Speaker 1: everything when they get a little taste of freedom.
- 43:30Speaker 2: Is it safe to say scientology is the wildest religion ever?
- 43:32Speaker 1: Well, I think wild wow may not be the right word. Good.
- 43:36Speaker 1: There's some wild stuff out there, but Scientology.
- 43:38Speaker 2: Out of all the big ones, out of all the big.
- 43:41Speaker 1: Ones, it's it's the most concerning for show.
- 43:44Speaker 2: It's pretty. It's pretty. Uh, it's pretty. It's interesting because obviously,
- 43:49Speaker 2: you know, whatever you feel about religion is what it is.
- 43:51Speaker 2: But when you see the people, like I've watched all
- 43:54Speaker 2: the documentaries about too Going Clear and all that, and yo,
- 43:59Speaker 2: the fact that they're able to get people to buy
- 44:01Speaker 2: into this shit.
- 44:02Speaker 1: Yeah yeah.
- 44:03Speaker 2: Like Hubbard was like, first of all, not very successful,
- 44:08Speaker 2: but has more published science fiction works than any author ever.
- 44:13Speaker 2: This dude's entire stick was he was a science fiction
- 44:17Speaker 2: author and then he created religion.
- 44:20Speaker 1: It's wild and people believe it. And they'd be on
- 44:23Speaker 1: some gang banging the power trip stuff too.
- 44:25Speaker 2: And they're like they got the mafia dog. They'd be
- 44:27Speaker 2: like taking fools out, bro. You know what I'm saying
- 44:30Speaker 2: for real?
- 44:30Speaker 1: And I think if you joined your high level of scientology,
- 44:32Speaker 1: like you can't you can't get out.
