- 0:00Speaker 1: Should I begin? Can we talk about this?
- 0:01Speaker 2: Say?
- 0:01Speaker 3: What are you trying to say beyond the usual controversial talking.
- 0:09Speaker 4: Welcome to one to.
- 0:13Speaker 3: Prepare yourself for Craig preparing my dews spectacle.
- 0:19Speaker 1: Here, particulate, stimulated your writing.
- 0:23Speaker 3: There there you go back, you start becoming a gen.
- 0:30Speaker 1: Is the Craigcullen Show.
- 0:32Speaker 5: Jesus, oh God, no dot talking heck.
- 0:36Speaker 6: This station as well the ultimate power in the universe.
- 0:39Speaker 1: Yourst man, Craig.
- 0:42Speaker 4: That's right, it is the Craig Collins Show, k s
- 0:45Speaker 4: c V, the voice of Texas. And yet I am
- 0:48Speaker 4: definitely not the most important person that's going to be
- 0:51Speaker 4: on the airwaves in just a second. That would be
- 0:53Speaker 4: Chris Salsato that we'll bring on immediately. Chris, Welcome to
- 0:57Speaker 4: the Craig College.
- 0:57Speaker 1: Yo.
- 0:59Speaker 5: Mark, Hey, how you doing, buddy.
- 1:04Speaker 7: I'm probably one of the only one of the few
- 1:06Speaker 7: guys in talk radio knows exactly what that was in
- 1:09Speaker 7: the opening.
- 1:10Speaker 5: Yeah, thank you. Well, I'm one of the other ones
- 1:12Speaker 5: that knows exactly what that is in the opening. I'm
- 1:15Speaker 5: thrilled to have you on.
- 1:16Speaker 4: Obviously, it's somewhat bittersweet you have announced that you are
- 1:20Speaker 4: leaving KSEV.
- 1:21Speaker 5: This is not a.
- 1:22Speaker 4: Choice KSV made. This is a choice you made, much
- 1:25Speaker 4: like some other stuff. So if you don't mind, I'd
- 1:28Speaker 4: like to start there, and we don't have to get
- 1:30Speaker 4: too deep into the weeds. But how much can you
- 1:32Speaker 4: tell me about what you're going to do next?
- 1:35Speaker 7: Well, again, I would have if circumstances had been just
- 1:39Speaker 7: a tinge difference, I likely would have would have retired
- 1:44Speaker 7: at KSV. Fourteen years I've been with KSV. I love
- 1:48Speaker 7: the station, I love the people, incredible love, love the audience,
- 1:52Speaker 7: one of the most loyal audiences in talk radio. But
- 1:57Speaker 7: I got this offer for a national digital radio network
- 2:05Speaker 7: that is launching, and I said yes. It sounded so
- 2:09Speaker 7: exciting I couldn't say no.
- 2:11Speaker 5: Yeah, you know, it's crazy.
- 2:12Speaker 4: What's crazy about that guyes is I know a guy
- 2:15Speaker 4: in Florida who was on a morning show for a
- 2:18Speaker 4: lot of years like you, that just recently did this
- 2:20Speaker 4: and that thing has exploded. So it sounds very similar
- 2:24Speaker 4: to a concept that I saw just work in Florida
- 2:28Speaker 4: quite well, where inevitably you do wind up back up radio,
- 2:31Speaker 4: like the show inevitably is heard on radio stations. It
- 2:34Speaker 4: is just a different amalgamation of a thing, which sort
- 2:37Speaker 4: of speaks a lot to what broadcasting and the Internet
- 2:40Speaker 4: and everything that whole weird mixing pot has become.
- 2:45Speaker 6: Well.
- 2:45Speaker 7: Yeah, since the passing of Rush Limbaugh, and I mentioned
- 2:50Speaker 7: this this morning on the radio show, the price of
- 2:53Speaker 7: AM radio stations has plummeted. And because they're there has
- 3:00Speaker 7: been a realignment where conservatives are landing, And there has
- 3:06Speaker 7: been an effort as the left and communists and Marxists
- 3:11Speaker 7: have redoubled their efforts to destroy the country, there has
- 3:14Speaker 7: been a rise in conservatives to meet that, to meet
- 3:18Speaker 7: that challenge. But unlike the leftists and the Marxists who
- 3:23Speaker 7: are working very hard to destroy the country, who are
- 3:25Speaker 7: getting very little pushback from their sector, the conservatives who
- 3:30Speaker 7: are rising to meet them have been getting all manner
- 3:33Speaker 7: of pushback from alleged communications companies that are supposed to
- 3:37Speaker 7: allegedly prize the First Amendment and prize free speech. So
- 3:44Speaker 7: what conservatives are discovering not at KSDV, of course, but
- 3:48Speaker 7: mostly on the national levels, there are far too many,
- 3:53Speaker 7: how do we say, companies that are allegedly making their
- 3:56Speaker 7: bones off of being conservative, but are not. They are censoring,
- 4:01Speaker 7: they are tailoring the messages. Two for lack of a
- 4:08Speaker 7: better word, to disarm the conservative movement and not allow
- 4:11Speaker 7: it to meet fire with fire, and that was something
- 4:14Speaker 7: I was not interested in doing. So when when I
- 4:17Speaker 7: when I saw this opportunity to to after after my
- 4:23Speaker 7: departure from me as you know, the television network that
- 4:26Speaker 7: I was at after that, this just dropped into my
- 4:30Speaker 7: lap and it seemed like a great fit. So I
- 4:33Speaker 7: thought we would, we would, you know what. And frankly,
- 4:36Speaker 7: if there was a way to do both, I would
- 4:38Speaker 7: have done both. And don't believe me, I tried, yeah,
- 4:41Speaker 7: to stay on the Voice of Texas, but it just
- 4:42Speaker 7: it just it just didn't work out.
- 4:44Speaker 4: I mean, you're you're a guy who's done a lot
- 4:46Speaker 4: of stuff, as you just mentioned, You've done stuff in
- 4:48Speaker 4: television and radio. I've been at enough places that I've
- 4:51Speaker 4: seen people leave and then come back like I've seen
- 4:53Speaker 4: it happen. So I'm not gonna say that I don't
- 4:56Speaker 4: expect at some point that Chris Salceado, and this is
- 4:59Speaker 4: to the audience as much as you might not make
- 5:01Speaker 4: a return to this radio station just because radio is
- 5:04Speaker 4: a weird animal. But right now, it just sounds like
- 5:07Speaker 4: the opportunity that you've been offered is too good to
- 5:10Speaker 4: say no to. And that's the kind of thing that
- 5:12Speaker 4: happens quite a bit, especially for guys like you who
- 5:15Speaker 4: have six jobs for a whole bunch of years, which
- 5:18Speaker 4: is something you've do. Yeah, let me ask you this
- 5:20Speaker 4: because I think it's kind of interesting as far as
- 5:22Speaker 4: the political thing you said. And I keep thinking about
- 5:26Speaker 4: a quote that Ronald Reagan famously repeated that's actually Abraham
- 5:30Speaker 4: Lincoln's about weak men.
- 5:32Speaker 5: I don't know if you know it.
- 5:33Speaker 4: You can't make a weak man strong by making a
- 5:36Speaker 4: strong man weak. And that conversation is typically about how
- 5:41Speaker 4: I think mainstream media and in some places some conservatives,
- 5:45Speaker 4: some rhino conservatives, are trying to weaken the Conservative Party
- 5:48Speaker 4: and the conservative movement, either internally or through this discussion
- 5:52Speaker 4: about being separated. And I think you've done an incredible
- 5:56Speaker 4: job on your morning show for years talking about what
- 5:58Speaker 4: actually is the belief I think of a lot of
- 6:01Speaker 4: conservative people, a lot of Texans, which is America first,
- 6:05Speaker 4: and do more for me in DC, do less for yourself.
- 6:09Speaker 5: I don't know if you want to respond to that.
- 6:12Speaker 7: Well, yes, I think Reagan had John Cornan in mind
- 6:16Speaker 7: when he said it. I mean maybe not him, maybe
- 6:20Speaker 7: not him specifically, but I mean men like John corn
- 6:23Speaker 7: If for those of you don't know, and we're talking
- 6:25Speaker 7: about in the morning show that John Cornan's legislative director
- 6:30Speaker 7: just left John Cornan's office to go where to James
- 6:33Speaker 7: tell Rico's campaign to help defeat Republicans. So that has
- 6:38Speaker 7: been the m of Republicans like John Cornan is to
- 6:43Speaker 7: defeat conservatives and empower leftists and Marxist to do great
- 6:47Speaker 7: deal of harm to our country. And this conservative is
- 6:51Speaker 7: not in the mood to tolerate that. And by the way,
- 6:52Speaker 7: to your previous point, I stopped saying never or this
- 6:56Speaker 7: is the end a long time ago good man in media,
- 7:01Speaker 7: that is for sure.
- 7:02Speaker 5: Yeah, because you never know.
- 7:03Speaker 4: I actually, I'll tell you that's a guy that I
- 7:05Speaker 4: worked with at WJN in Chicago for years, and he
- 7:08Speaker 4: did not leave like you. He got fired a few times,
- 7:10Speaker 4: which happens a lot in radio. He wound up working mornings,
- 7:13Speaker 4: middays and afternoons at different points in his career.
- 7:17Speaker 5: He just kept coming back.
- 7:18Speaker 4: So we'd say goodbye to him, and the internal joke
- 7:21Speaker 4: was see you in six months, because you never know
- 7:23Speaker 4: what's going to happen.
- 7:24Speaker 5: You never know what's going.
- 7:25Speaker 4: To change if you don't mind, I would like you
- 7:27Speaker 4: to talk a little bit about a fourteen year run
- 7:30Speaker 4: at this radio station and getting hired by somebody like
- 7:33Speaker 4: Dan Patrick, Like wherever your mind goes in looking back
- 7:37Speaker 4: at at how long you've been here and how much
- 7:39Speaker 4: you've been a staple.
- 7:39Speaker 5: Of this lineup.
- 7:41Speaker 7: I told the story so much on the air, I
- 7:45Speaker 7: just assume everybody knows it.
- 7:46Speaker 5: Sure.
- 7:47Speaker 7: Fourteen years ago, I was coming back from another national
- 7:51Speaker 7: radio gig that I was part of, came back home
- 7:54Speaker 7: to Texas, was did my time in Washington, DC, and
- 7:57Speaker 7: I was looking to to to expand, to get out
- 8:01Speaker 7: of news and to get to expand into opinion. And
- 8:05Speaker 7: that's when I was and still am, the executive director
- 8:08Speaker 7: of the Conservative Hispanic Society, and so as part of
- 8:12Speaker 7: my duties there, I was trying to vet candidates. And
- 8:14Speaker 7: then it was a state Senator by the name of
- 8:16Speaker 7: Dan Patrick and state Senator by the name of Ken
- 8:20Speaker 7: Paxton who were running for some pretty lofty positions here
- 8:23Speaker 7: in Texas, and I talked to them both about their
- 8:27Speaker 7: policy positions. All the other candidates, a guy with the
- 8:31Speaker 7: name of Dewhurst I can't even I can't even tell
- 8:35Speaker 7: you who was running against against Paxton Ken. Paxton spent
- 8:39Speaker 7: about forty five minutes with me on the phone talking
- 8:42Speaker 7: about what his vision was. Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick, who
- 8:48Speaker 7: was a senator, then spent an hour with me describe it.
- 8:52Speaker 7: And his opponent got on the phone with me for
- 8:55Speaker 7: about thirty seconds and then said, I got to go
- 8:58Speaker 7: and never call me back. Of course, that's how much
- 9:02Speaker 7: he cared about liberty loving Latinos. So anyway, the rest
- 9:06Speaker 7: is history. And it just so happened that a man
- 9:09Speaker 7: that was on the morning show Gotvin at Hendy, the
- 9:12Speaker 7: owner of the Taste of Texas.
- 9:14Speaker 5: Yeah, just down the street, was.
- 9:15Speaker 7: Getting yeah, right down the street, great restaurant. I eat
- 9:18Speaker 7: there every single time I am down south in Houston.
- 9:24Speaker 7: And he was just hanging up his cleats. So the
- 9:30Speaker 7: Lieutenant governor then senator said, you know what, I have
- 9:32Speaker 7: this little radio station. Would you mind just coming in
- 9:35Speaker 7: and quote filling in for a little while? Nice and
- 9:38Speaker 7: I that was fourteen years ago.
- 9:40Speaker 5: Yeah, these kinds of runs.
- 9:43Speaker 4: And I know that a lot of this to some
- 9:44Speaker 4: people are can be like, man, he's talking so much
- 9:46Speaker 4: about the internalness of the radio station like it might
- 9:49Speaker 4: be inside baseball to some. But these kind of runs
- 9:51Speaker 4: that at radio stations in general don't usually happen fourteen
- 9:55Speaker 4: years at the same place. Doing mornings is unique and
- 9:58Speaker 4: has been unique for a long time in this industry.
- 10:01Speaker 4: Is there anything you want to say about the feeling
- 10:03Speaker 4: you'll have when and I know you're still going to
- 10:05Speaker 4: be waking up relatively early for your new gig, but
- 10:07Speaker 4: the feeling you have when you're not on the Voice
- 10:10Speaker 4: of Taxes at seven o'clock on Monday morning, it.
- 10:14Speaker 7: Is going to be it is going to be a
- 10:15Speaker 7: different I mean, every single day I send out my rundown,
- 10:20Speaker 7: my guest list to Russell Cheryl, the executive producer of
- 10:25Speaker 7: the morning show and the program director of KSV, And
- 10:31Speaker 7: every day this week I've been saying, oh, this will
- 10:33Speaker 7: be the last time, well for a while anyway that
- 10:36Speaker 7: I that I'm doing that I'm filling out one of
- 10:38Speaker 7: these sure, you know, and it's it's going to be surreal,
- 10:42Speaker 7: because when you've done something for fourteen years and you're
- 10:46Speaker 7: changing it up, it tends to, you know, it tends
- 10:50Speaker 7: to kind of rock your world in a way. You know,
- 10:52Speaker 7: when you're when you're used to and you're it's a
- 10:55Speaker 7: very comfortable thing to be in the groove if you will,
- 11:00Speaker 7: and it's it's gonna be challenging. It's gonna it's gonna
- 11:03Speaker 7: be a challenge.
- 11:04Speaker 5: But I really look forward well in your.
- 11:06Speaker 4: Glutton for punishment, because usually I would say that you
- 11:08Speaker 4: get a different time slot, you get to sleep in
- 11:10Speaker 4: a bit as a guy that's been doing morning radio
- 11:12Speaker 4: for this long, that's not gonna be true for you.
- 11:14Speaker 5: I think you're going beyond pretty much the same.
- 11:16Speaker 4: I will say one other thing, and then we can
- 11:18Speaker 4: go any direction you want with the rest of this conversation.
- 11:21Speaker 4: I do have it on good authority that you are
- 11:24Speaker 4: tremendously welcome as a guest on whatever the new version
- 11:27Speaker 4: of the morning show will be whenever you want to
- 11:30Speaker 4: be on to promote anything or do you just like,
- 11:32Speaker 4: you know, mess around. I know that whenever Chris Salsado calls,
- 11:36Speaker 4: and maybe we'll even make like a Salcedo line for you,
- 11:39Speaker 4: like a batphone if you want to call in and
- 11:41Speaker 4: be a part of the Voice of Texas. It's gonna
- 11:43Speaker 4: be wide open.
- 11:45Speaker 7: That's gonna be pretty damnbition And the the invitation is
- 11:50Speaker 7: is appreciated, heartfelt, and uh, you know it's every single
- 11:56Speaker 7: time I would avail myself of that. Uh, it would
- 11:59Speaker 7: be that coming home.
- 12:00Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 12:01Speaker 4: Well, and honestly, no pressure though, because I know you've
- 12:03Speaker 4: got a bunch of other things you're going to have
- 12:05Speaker 4: that you're doing. Is there anything else you'd like to
- 12:08Speaker 4: talk about as far as any politics, any news out there,
- 12:12Speaker 4: or anything else you think about when reflecting back on
- 12:14Speaker 4: being here for as long as you.
- 12:15Speaker 7: Have, Well, I'll cover that news angle tomorrow morning on
- 12:21Speaker 7: the show. But I think as focusing in on you know,
- 12:26Speaker 7: what KSDV is meant to my family with KSV is
- 12:30Speaker 7: meant to to me personally, what the audience has meant
- 12:36Speaker 7: to me personally, it's something that well, you've been in
- 12:41Speaker 7: You've been in media a long time too, so it's
- 12:44Speaker 7: just indescribable when the greatest compliment anybody can pay to
- 12:49Speaker 7: a talk show host is I'm picking up what you're
- 12:52Speaker 7: laying down. And I've been getting some emails and people
- 12:56Speaker 7: have been very kind to say the reason why they
- 13:00Speaker 7: tuned in was because of me. There's no greater compliment
- 13:04Speaker 7: you can pay a host. Then hey, we get you,
- 13:08Speaker 7: and that's it's prett damn bitch, and it's a great
- 13:11Speaker 7: feeling you can't describe.
- 13:13Speaker 4: I can also tell you that I've now gotten a
- 13:14Speaker 4: lot of my fingers in like the digital stuff that
- 13:17Speaker 4: we've been doing, and I know a lot of the
- 13:18Speaker 4: analytics behind are digital. And it is absolutely true that
- 13:22Speaker 4: by and larger morning show had a much bigger audience
- 13:25Speaker 4: than a bunch of other things. Not that other audiences
- 13:27Speaker 4: weren't good, like other audiences were great at KSV, but
- 13:30Speaker 4: when I saw the numbers, I was like, wow, seven
- 13:33Speaker 4: and eight o'clock.
- 13:33Speaker 5: It seems like we're doing something well for a while here.
- 13:38Speaker 4: One last thing I want to just say to you
- 13:40Speaker 4: before I let you go, and I thank you so
- 13:42Speaker 4: much for making some time and jumping up on this show.
- 13:44Speaker 4: I love the thing you do with a muse, which
- 13:47Speaker 4: you do every Wednesday. I think it's called the third
- 13:51Speaker 4: rail with you and Amuse. Amuse is a giant on X,
- 13:55Speaker 4: like a huge account, huge following. How did that happen?
- 13:59Speaker 4: I'm just curious is what the story is now? You
- 14:01Speaker 4: guys got that going.
- 14:03Speaker 7: We've got some mutual friends and I was I'll never
- 14:07Speaker 7: remember the first interaction I had with Alex Alexander Muse
- 14:11Speaker 7: at Amuse on ex I was putting out every day
- 14:16Speaker 7: a synopsis of what would be coming up of the show,
- 14:18Speaker 7: all the shows. This was. I was doing television at
- 14:20Speaker 7: the time, so it was TV shows, the radio shows,
- 14:23Speaker 7: the podcast. So I put in a little synopsis and
- 14:26Speaker 7: that that was courtesy of a guy the name of
- 14:28Speaker 7: Michael Clemente for those of the industry, he was a
- 14:32Speaker 7: giant at Fox News and recently just passed away. I'm
- 14:36Speaker 7: sad to report, but somebody who was instrumental and instrumental
- 14:40Speaker 7: in bringing me over to to Newsmax in the mornings
- 14:43Speaker 7: when we first got on that channel, and so I
- 14:48Speaker 7: kept it and then so was I was detailing what
- 14:52Speaker 7: was coming up. And his response to me was your
- 14:55Speaker 7: text is too small. Make it bigger. And I was like,
- 15:00Speaker 7: I responded to him, and then the rest is history.
- 15:03Speaker 7: You know, we have some mutual friends that connected us
- 15:05Speaker 7: and there it is.
- 15:07Speaker 4: Whatever you're going to be doing as your next gig
- 15:10Speaker 4: in mornings, it's not going to affect the third rail
- 15:12Speaker 4: at all.
- 15:13Speaker 7: No, no, and third rails on. It may be a
- 15:17Speaker 7: little earlier in the evening, maybe by an hour, but
- 15:20Speaker 7: right now it's at six o'clock Easter into eight o'clock,
- 15:23Speaker 7: So we may move that up an hour, but maybe not.
- 15:25Speaker 7: Maybe we'll just keep away where it is because it's
- 15:27Speaker 7: got a nice little sweet spot and getting some following too, though.
- 15:30Speaker 4: Anything else you want to promote as far as stuff
- 15:32Speaker 4: coming up this week that people can pay attention.
- 15:34Speaker 7: To, yeah, that's that's going to be the big announcement.
- 15:38Speaker 7: And you know, I'll put a book a book plug
- 15:40Speaker 7: in there, you know, the Rise of the liberty loving
- 15:42Speaker 7: Latino and New American Revolution. Sure you haven't picked it
- 15:44Speaker 7: up from Amazon, go ahead and do it. It's I
- 15:47Speaker 7: you know, six hours of audio book. It's kind of
- 15:51Speaker 7: like talk radio and carry me along. If you want
- 15:54Speaker 7: to go to Amazon and get that, or if you
- 15:55Speaker 7: like the tactile sensation of turning those pages in your hand,
- 16:01Speaker 7: by all means, go ahead and pick up the hard
- 16:02Speaker 7: copy at Amazon.
- 16:03Speaker 5: Awesome, Well, thank you so much.
- 16:05Speaker 4: Chris Salsato, our morning show host for the last fourteen years,
- 16:08Speaker 4: is in the midst of his last week here on
- 16:10Speaker 4: the radio. But a lot of other stuff coming up
- 16:12Speaker 4: for you, and I just am so happy that you
- 16:15Speaker 4: spent some time to chat with me today about it.
- 16:17Speaker 4: Everybody should be listening the next few days to whatever's
- 16:19Speaker 4: coming up.
- 16:20Speaker 5: On your show.
- 16:21Speaker 7: Thanks, brother, appreciate it.
- 16:23Speaker 5: No problem. We're going to take a quick break.
- 16:24Speaker 4: After the break, we will come back and talk about
- 16:27Speaker 4: some of the things in the news. I know that
- 16:29Speaker 4: to some that might be a bit of over indulgence
- 16:33Speaker 4: in us talking about ourselves. But as I said before,
- 16:36Speaker 4: and I'll say it again, and this is true for
- 16:38Speaker 4: Salsato's run, this is true in general of this industry.
- 16:43Speaker 5: It's rare to see something like this.
- 16:45Speaker 4: It's rare to see someone, no matter if you loved
- 16:47Speaker 4: him or didn't love them, but someone to be in
- 16:50Speaker 4: this slot for as long as he's been in it,
- 16:52Speaker 4: and to be successful in this lot, especially for and
- 16:55Speaker 4: I think Chris said this on his own show when
- 16:58Speaker 4: he first started discussing the fact that he will be
- 17:01Speaker 4: walking away and doing something else, but an independent broadcaster.
- 17:05Speaker 4: There's so few of those now in this radio industry
- 17:08Speaker 4: that even more so, it's kind of an interesting and
- 17:10Speaker 4: certainly industry big news, how to say the least. And
- 17:14Speaker 4: so I really thank him for Megan, it's done. All right,
- 17:16Speaker 4: we'll take a break. A lot coming up. This is

- 20:22Speaker 4: This is the Craig Collins Show KSV, the Voice of Texas.
- 20:26Speaker 4: Lots and lots of things to talk about. As always,
- 20:28Speaker 4: Thanks again to Chris Salsato for making the time to
- 20:31Speaker 4: jump on with me and talk about a legendary run,
- 20:34Speaker 4: a fourteen year run at a radio station, which I've
- 20:38Speaker 4: known several people because I have been in the industry
- 20:41Speaker 4: a while, mostly in other places, not in Texas, but
- 20:43Speaker 4: I've known several people that have done a duration similar
- 20:46Speaker 4: but it was never without getting fired a few times,
- 20:48Speaker 4: which I always find amusing in the industry that we
- 20:51Speaker 4: work in. Actually, a Hall of fame radio guy friend
- 20:54Speaker 4: of mine who's been on the show before, his name
- 20:56Speaker 4: is Gary Meyer, told me that in radio you're only
- 20:59Speaker 4: in between fire, You're not in between in between working,
- 21:03Speaker 4: like the difference is when you have a job. That's
- 21:05Speaker 4: how everybody else sees when they don't have a job,
- 21:08Speaker 4: we are unemployed more than employed. Granted, not usually true
- 21:12Speaker 4: of independent broadcasters. Independent broadcasters more likely to hang on
- 21:16Speaker 4: to their talent, and especially the case with Salsato, as
- 21:19Speaker 4: long as he's been doing the morning show.
- 21:21Speaker 5: All right, let's move on.
- 21:22Speaker 4: James tallerco said something that I did play yesterday, and
- 21:25Speaker 4: I want to play it again today because I want
- 21:27Speaker 4: I want a test to make sure that this audio
- 21:29Speaker 4: is working the way it's supposed to. But two, and
- 21:32Speaker 4: this is more interesting to me, is the lie that
- 21:35Speaker 4: this is because it's absolutely an egregious, ridiculous lie.
- 21:40Speaker 10: We have the right to shape our own destinies, and
- 21:43Speaker 10: we do that through the vote. And so many brave Americans,
- 21:46Speaker 10: so many brave Black Americans, have fought and died for
- 21:50Speaker 10: that right.
- 21:51Speaker 1: And so for.
- 21:51Speaker 10: Politicians in Austin or in Washington, as they're now doing
- 21:54Speaker 10: with this, say that they are trying to rob our neighbors,
- 21:58Speaker 10: as particularly our Black neighbors, of those God given rights.
- 22:01Speaker 10: So I have a track record of using every tool.
- 22:04Speaker 5: In my already don't care. I already don't care.
- 22:06Speaker 4: But I wanted to play that again yesterday when I
- 22:08Speaker 4: talked about that. I was more focused on the weirdness
- 22:12Speaker 4: of infusing racial politics into discussions they don't need to
- 22:16Speaker 4: be in. And I even reference that my producer, who's
- 22:19Speaker 4: a black guy, has said to me before, Producer Phil,
- 22:22Speaker 4: that sometimes he feels like we talk quite a bit
- 22:24Speaker 4: more about race in the United States than they did
- 22:27Speaker 4: in the Bahamas. But there's another valuable component to the
- 22:30Speaker 4: discussion about tall Ico saying the Save Act is bad
- 22:35Speaker 4: and here's why. And it's not just race baiting, it's
- 22:37Speaker 4: not just trying to emotionally make some people support the
- 22:40Speaker 4: position for truly like dumb, stupid reasons. The other thing
- 22:45Speaker 4: that I find fascinating or important about this discussion is
- 22:49Speaker 4: the need to discredit the Save Act itself, the need
- 22:52Speaker 4: to attack the idea that we should do something that
- 22:55Speaker 4: most Americans agree with, that being secure our elections by
- 22:59Speaker 4: record hiring people to have IDs in order to vote.
- 23:03Speaker 4: Like that's not controversial, that's not discussed in a controversial
- 23:07Speaker 4: way by everyday Americans who talk about it, and so
- 23:11Speaker 4: it just it screams a thing that you and I
- 23:14Speaker 4: know most people who listen to this show or the
- 23:17Speaker 4: station know that maybe a lot of people reject or
- 23:20Speaker 4: pretend isn't true other places throughout the world or throughout
- 23:24Speaker 4: the country at the very least, which is how often
- 23:27Speaker 4: you are lied to by everyday politicians, by so many
- 23:31Speaker 4: of them on both sides of the political aisle. And
- 23:34Speaker 4: the reason that they do this, the reason they need
- 23:36Speaker 4: to lie to you in order to get you to
- 23:38Speaker 4: do whatever it is they want to do, they need
- 23:41Speaker 4: to manipulate you. And in order to do that, they
- 23:44Speaker 4: need to trick you. And the worst possible thing, this
- 23:47Speaker 4: is the point of what I'm trying to say, but
- 23:50Speaker 4: I think something that Texas will hopefully be taught, not
- 23:54Speaker 4: that Texans, a lot of Texans don't already know this,
- 23:57Speaker 4: but the worst possible thing for them is an informed
- 24:01Speaker 4: electorate is you and me knowing the truth when they
- 24:05Speaker 4: tell us a lot, and just wanting that to be
- 24:07Speaker 4: a simple piece of information, like just simply wanting to
- 24:10Speaker 4: know what the actual facts are, regardless of the input
- 24:15Speaker 4: or the opinion or the slant that comes next. You
- 24:18Speaker 4: can figure that out on your own what you believe.
- 24:21Speaker 4: But that's inevitably how so much of this will go
- 24:23Speaker 4: over the next few months with Talariko. He will tell
- 24:27Speaker 4: Texans that he doesn't believe things that he believed a
- 24:31Speaker 4: short time ago, and he will tell Texans that there
- 24:35Speaker 4: are certain things that have been taken out of context.
- 24:37Speaker 4: It's the version of and you remember this with Biden
- 24:40Speaker 4: when they said that he was he was actually like
- 24:43Speaker 4: very intelligent, his brain was working very well, and any
- 24:47Speaker 4: time that he'd get lost on a stage, that was
- 24:50Speaker 4: being edited inappropriately. So they were essentially like deep fake
- 24:54Speaker 4: type of videos even though they were real. And the
- 24:57Speaker 4: Democrats claim to you that this was manipulating you on purpose,
- 25:02Speaker 4: cutting out the part where Biden's brain worked, and anybody
- 25:06Speaker 4: in conservative media that remembers that over the last few
- 25:09Speaker 4: years remembered how.
- 25:10Speaker 5: Untrue it was. They're like, what do you mean my
- 25:12Speaker 5: favorite thing.
- 25:13Speaker 4: I'll say this before I move on my favorite thing
- 25:15Speaker 4: about comparing anything going on now, any version of people
- 25:19Speaker 4: lying to you and telling you something that you categorically
- 25:22Speaker 4: should know is not true at all, But any version
- 25:25Speaker 4: of that, it's best demonstrated by how ridiculous the lie
- 25:29Speaker 4: of Biden's brain working was, and how deep that lie went,
- 25:33Speaker 4: how deep that rabbit hole went before they inevitably pivoted COVID.
- 25:38Speaker 5: You name the thing where they lied.
- 25:40Speaker 4: So profoundly, where Fauci pleads the fifth one hundred and
- 25:44Speaker 4: eleven times or whatever it was, in order to avoid
- 25:47Speaker 4: any level of being held responsible for the terrible things
- 25:52Speaker 4: that he did, the horrible things that he did when
- 25:56Speaker 4: he lied to the American people and said he knew
- 25:58Speaker 4: things that he didn't know. It's that simple, and there's
- 26:02Speaker 4: so many different versions, I think in discussions about this case.
- 26:05Speaker 5: In point, I want to play this audio. I think
- 26:08Speaker 5: this is interesting.
- 26:09Speaker 4: More than twenty Democratic states are suing President Trump and
- 26:13Speaker 4: this administration from accessing records of commercial truck drivers. President
- 26:18Speaker 4: Trump has claimed, and he's done this with some data,
- 26:22Speaker 4: but maybe not as much as we want, that there
- 26:24Speaker 4: are a whole lot of people who do certain jobs
- 26:26Speaker 4: that have no legal right to do them, or legal
- 26:28Speaker 4: right to be here. One of those is truck drivers,
- 26:31Speaker 4: and that it's actually inherently dangerous to have people who
- 26:33Speaker 4: should not be behind the wheel of a car in
- 26:35Speaker 4: this country, that don't have a right to be behind
- 26:37Speaker 4: the wheel of a car in this country delivering products
- 26:40Speaker 4: for us, and that obviously it creates opportunities for people
- 26:44Speaker 4: who are here legally. Whatever those people look like like.
- 26:47Speaker 4: I just talked to the liberty loving Latino. It doesn't
- 26:50Speaker 4: mean that I think that someone who's legally allowed to
- 26:52Speaker 4: be here who's Latino can't drive a commercial vehicle. That's
- 26:56Speaker 4: another lie they tell us all the time. They claim
- 27:00Speaker 4: that if I think that someone who's illegally here shouldn't
- 27:03Speaker 4: be a truck driver, that then I think everybody who
- 27:05Speaker 4: looks a certain way shouldn't be a truck driver. That's
- 27:08Speaker 4: not true. I don't care what you look like. I
- 27:10Speaker 4: just care that you have the status to be here
- 27:12Speaker 4: in order to do the job correctly. But here developing
- 27:15Speaker 4: story from Fox News in which they talk about the
- 27:19Speaker 4: amount of information they're trying to get. This would be
- 27:21Speaker 4: the Trump administration about people who drive illegally. And then
- 27:26Speaker 4: the way in which certain Blue states are fighting back
- 27:28Speaker 4: showdown is.
- 27:29Speaker 12: Hitting America's highways. The Trump administration wants the records of
- 27:32Speaker 12: seventeen million commercial drivers as it cracks down on who's
- 27:36Speaker 12: allowed behind the wheel of trucks and buses, but more
- 27:40Speaker 12: than twenty states are suing to stop it. Senior Correspondent
- 27:44Speaker 12: Mike Tobin is reporting on all of this out of
- 27:46Speaker 12: Chicago for US. Hey, Mike, and.
- 27:48Speaker 13: It's sad the Trump administration is trying to get information
- 27:50Speaker 13: from state databases about drivers operating big rigs so they
- 27:53Speaker 13: can find which of them are in the US illegally.
- 27:56Speaker 13: The administration is threatening to withhold federal funds to the
- 27:59Speaker 13: states that don't hand over the data. An attorney's general
- 28:02Speaker 13: now for more than twenty different states are suing to
- 28:05Speaker 13: block the information. Marcus Coleman's daughter, Delilah, was severely injured
- 28:09Speaker 13: when they were hit by a truck driven by a
- 28:10Speaker 13: man in the US illegally back in twenty twenty four.
- 28:14Speaker 13: She just went through another brain surgery. Coleman says his
- 28:16Speaker 13: family has been changed forever as century politicians favor illegal
- 28:21Speaker 13: immigrants over the safety of someone like his daughter.
- 28:25Speaker 14: The government already has that information to begin with. We're
- 28:27Speaker 14: not big brothering anybody for making sure that the person
- 28:30Speaker 14: who has the driver license is the person who's supposed
- 28:32Speaker 14: to have the driver license. Not to mention, the only
- 28:34Speaker 14: people that are trying to stop this from going through
- 28:36Speaker 14: are the people who have something to hide.
- 28:38Speaker 4: Here's the thing about that, which some would call an
- 28:41Speaker 4: anecdotal story, but obviously a pretty emotional and important story.
- 28:44Speaker 4: In general, if you're someone who doesn't have the legal
- 28:46Speaker 4: right to drive, and you're behind the wheel of a
- 28:48Speaker 4: vehicle for a company, however big that company might be.
- 28:51Speaker 4: It might be your own company, you might create an
- 28:54Speaker 4: LLC or not even and which you're doing this as
- 28:57Speaker 4: an independent contractor. At the end of the day, if
- 28:59Speaker 4: an accident happens, there's a strong likelihood that you might
- 29:03Speaker 4: not give any sort of financial support to the people
- 29:06Speaker 4: who are the victim of the crash. And so having
- 29:09Speaker 4: people that are legally allowed to be behind the wheel
- 29:12Speaker 4: of a car in general mitigate some of that risk,
- 29:15Speaker 4: a decent amount of that risk in ways that profoundly
- 29:18Speaker 4: impact these families, because at the end of the day,
- 29:21Speaker 4: if you're someone that's kind of rolling the dice, if
- 29:23Speaker 4: you don't have the legitimate desire to work here under
- 29:29Speaker 4: a legal status, there's a good chance that you might
- 29:32Speaker 4: not actually worry that much about if something that this
- 29:35Speaker 4: were to happen, because you'd just be deported and leave.
- 29:38Speaker 7: Now.
- 29:38Speaker 4: Granted, if you kill somebody, you go to jail, but nonetheless,
- 29:41Speaker 4: I just thought that that was pretty important, pretty interesting,
- 29:44Speaker 4: and valuable as far as the discussion goes about the
- 29:48Speaker 4: topic of why people on a certain side feel the
- 29:52Speaker 4: way they do about making sure that something is safer,
- 29:55Speaker 4: or that people are more protected and they're protected through
- 29:58Speaker 4: the same legal channels that we're all protected on on
- 30:01Speaker 4: so many other issues.
- 30:03Speaker 5: To say the very least, by the way, I would
- 30:06Speaker 5: be remiss.
- 30:07Speaker 4: I should say this now before I get too much
- 30:09Speaker 4: deeper into political topics. It is my wife's birthday today.
- 30:13Speaker 4: I do want to wish my wife a happy birthday.
- 30:15Speaker 4: My wife is a US citizen that was born in Mexico,
- 30:20Speaker 4: got married to me while she was still studying school,
- 30:23Speaker 4: and then boom bada bing baa boom, became a US citizen.
- 30:26Speaker 4: And there are a lot of topics that I talk
- 30:28Speaker 4: about that are pretty popular mainstream media, or I guess
- 30:33Speaker 4: you can call it even conservative media topics that I
- 30:36Speaker 4: filter through thinking about my wife and thinking about her
- 30:40Speaker 4: and what sometimes moves her, what sometimes matters to her,
- 30:44Speaker 4: and the complexity of some of these discussions, some of
- 30:47Speaker 4: these cases, and the inevitability that no matter how much
- 30:51Speaker 4: emotion or I would even say compassion, people have for
- 30:56Speaker 4: some of the ways the stuff gets talked about, especially
- 30:59Speaker 4: in a taxi where there are a lot of people
- 31:01Speaker 4: who look like my wife and a lot of people
- 31:04Speaker 4: who sound like my wife. But making sure that whatever
- 31:08Speaker 4: we're doing from policy perspective, from any sort of other perspective,
- 31:12Speaker 4: still addresses the issues that become a huge problem for
- 31:15Speaker 4: our society when rules are not followed. I don't know
- 31:18Speaker 4: if I'm saying that clearly enough, so I'll try to
- 31:20Speaker 4: say it again. And part of me is even inspired
- 31:22Speaker 4: by having the liberty loving Latino on.
- 31:24Speaker 5: The show earlier.
- 31:26Speaker 4: I think it's such a lazy thing for people in
- 31:30Speaker 4: certain political places, whether that's pundits on the left or
- 31:34Speaker 4: politicians on the left, to just claim racism on the right,
- 31:38Speaker 4: to claim like that's the thing, that's the moving objective,
- 31:41Speaker 4: that's the force that makes people say that I'd rather
- 31:46Speaker 4: have people with legal status than illegal status.
- 31:49Speaker 5: Here in this country. That is just racism.
- 31:51Speaker 4: You just hate people, and you want, you know, other
- 31:53Speaker 4: people to hate people to It couldn't be further from
- 31:56Speaker 4: the truth. And it's always something that bounces around up
- 32:00Speaker 4: here in the old noggin I when any of these
- 32:03Speaker 4: topics come up, and it's silly because and I'll tell
- 32:05Speaker 4: you this, and we'll probably take a break in a
- 32:07Speaker 4: little bit by changing my message, which I don't do,
- 32:12Speaker 4: but by changing it even a little to tell you
- 32:15Speaker 4: that I contemplate these things. I'm giving the left a
- 32:18Speaker 4: little bit of what it wants. The left is trying
- 32:21Speaker 4: to force me, force you, force all of us to
- 32:25Speaker 4: not have certain conversations and not say certain things, and
- 32:28Speaker 4: doubt ourselves, doubt the motivations that others might have.
- 32:33Speaker 5: Who agree with us. All of that crap.
- 32:35Speaker 4: All of those things are to simply control the narrative
- 32:38Speaker 4: and control the conversation and to skirt away from the
- 32:41Speaker 4: stuff that is most damaging to their side. And the DSA,
- 32:45Speaker 4: the Democratic Socialists of America are doing this more than
- 32:50Speaker 4: anybody else I've ever seen in my twenty something years
- 32:54Speaker 4: doing some version of radio where these news stories.
- 32:57Speaker 5: Get talked about.
- 32:59Speaker 4: The Democratics Socials of America want to tell you solutions
- 33:02Speaker 4: to problems that they claim all of us want and need,
- 33:08Speaker 4: and yet they don't actually tell you what the reality
- 33:12Speaker 4: of their.
- 33:12Speaker 5: Quote unquote solution would be.
- 33:14Speaker 4: And I'll give you examples before I take another break.
- 33:17Speaker 4: The Democratic Socialist of America tell you and tell me
- 33:21Speaker 4: that the best way to fix poverty is to take
- 33:24Speaker 4: money from rich people, which is a tried and true
- 33:27Speaker 4: version of a discussion that's been going on forever on
- 33:30Speaker 4: the left. It's just more aggressive and how the messaging
- 33:33Speaker 4: is now, and it absolutely fails time and again. That
- 33:37Speaker 4: is not a way to actually solve any version of
- 33:40Speaker 4: poverty that exists in our society. And it's not just
- 33:43Speaker 4: that you tick down the line of like, well, we need.
- 33:46Speaker 5: To do this.
- 33:47Speaker 4: Wages are unfair over here, we need to force companies
- 33:50Speaker 4: to pay people more money. All of these things that
- 33:53Speaker 4: just never actually happen. The best way to make our
- 33:57Speaker 4: society more I don't know, to function more profitably for
- 34:04Speaker 4: you and me, for us to have a better day
- 34:06Speaker 4: to day life, is for the whole of the United
- 34:09Speaker 4: States to succeeds as a group, as an economy, as everything,
- 34:14Speaker 4: and only one party actually is doing a lot to
- 34:17Speaker 4: make that success a reality. When companies struggle, If policies
- 34:22Speaker 4: are instituted that cause companies to make less money than
- 34:25Speaker 4: they made the year before, they take it out in
- 34:28Speaker 4: the consumer. They don't take it out of themselves. They
- 34:31Speaker 4: do everything they can to prevent their bottom line from
- 34:34Speaker 4: being hurt. Accepting that seems to be one of the
- 34:37Speaker 4: first big changes that happens for people that are twenty
- 34:41Speaker 4: somethings that lean pretty far to the left that become
- 34:44Speaker 4: thirty forty to fifty somethings that lean further and further
- 34:47Speaker 4: to the right, is understanding that you simply can't dictate
- 34:52Speaker 4: to some how things go. They'll continue to be able
- 34:56Speaker 4: to choose for themselves what they do and how they function,
- 35:00Speaker 4: mainly successful business owners and successful people in our society,
- 35:04Speaker 4: and any version of us penalizing them would inevitably hurt
- 35:07Speaker 4: us more than it actually hurts them, which I think.
- 35:11Speaker 5: Is fairly obvious to a lot of people.
- 35:13Speaker 4: I want to play one last thing, one last piece
- 35:15Speaker 4: of audio, and then we'll take a break. We'll come
- 35:18Speaker 4: back and we'll do a little bit more serious but
- 35:21Speaker 4: mostly silly, probably before we get out of here. I
- 35:24Speaker 4: do think this is interesting. Fox News and their power
- 35:27Speaker 4: rankings have said that there are two toss ups. One
- 35:31Speaker 4: toss up is Michigan and another toss up is Texas.
- 35:35Speaker 4: As far as current Senate races are going, you heard
- 35:39Speaker 4: Paul Bettencourt, Senator Bettancourt on the Friday Show that I
- 35:43Speaker 4: did it right after the Amigos, and certainly on the
- 35:46Speaker 4: Amigos too, talk about the oddity, the tragedy that whatever
- 35:50Speaker 4: you want to call it, that would be Michigan, and
- 35:52Speaker 4: this would be a good thing going red, but Texas
- 35:56Speaker 4: going blue. And luckily, right now, I think that most
- 35:59Speaker 4: of the information actually sees a slight lean Republican for Texas.
- 36:03Speaker 4: But in doing so, they say that there's a slight
- 36:05Speaker 4: lean Democratic for Michigan, which I find interesting. But that
- 36:09Speaker 4: would be horrible if we don't actually win a seat
- 36:13Speaker 4: in the Senate, because we see something awful happen here
- 36:17Speaker 4: in the state.
- 36:17Speaker 15: But here we go and focus on the yellow. Here,
- 36:20Speaker 15: the toss up races have changed. Okay, I'll show you
- 36:23Speaker 15: over there in a moment. Here, but two on this
- 36:25Speaker 15: map now have been adjusted. Jason will swing on over
- 36:27Speaker 15: here and show you the six toss ups in the middle.
- 36:30Speaker 15: We think Democrats are safe in forty seven. Republicans are
- 36:33Speaker 15: safe in forty seven as well, But the six in
- 36:35Speaker 15: the middle are up for debate and up for a
- 36:37Speaker 15: vote come November. Now, this could change, and that could change,
- 36:40Speaker 15: but right now, this is what has changed thus far. Today,
- 36:43Speaker 15: I'll advance at one time, and here's why Texas went
- 36:46Speaker 15: from lean Republican to a toss up.
- 36:48Speaker 1: Carl is coming up in a moment.
- 36:50Speaker 15: He'll explain that Michigan based on the outcome of the
- 36:53Speaker 15: vote last week of al saied one from a lean
- 36:55Speaker 15: Democrat to a toss up as well. So now you
- 36:58Speaker 15: have here in the middlet Alaska, Iowa, Maine, Michigan, Ohio.
- 37:02Speaker 8: And Texas.
- 37:03Speaker 15: We believe a half dozen states will determine the majority.
- 37:07Speaker 4: And it's so often true, by the way, that most
- 37:10Speaker 4: of the things that get determined, as far as control
- 37:13Speaker 4: within our government of anything maybe other than the presidency,
- 37:17Speaker 4: are a very small select number of states. Even when
- 37:20Speaker 4: you talk about like the actual presidential elections and the
- 37:24Speaker 4: states that are unpredictable, the states that go one way
- 37:26Speaker 4: or the other, or in the case of President Trump,
- 37:29Speaker 4: how he won all of the battleground states, which was
- 37:33Speaker 4: surprising to some, not surprising to me. It's just interesting.
- 37:37Speaker 4: But I will say this, and I'll say this as
- 37:39Speaker 4: candidly as I can. I think that everybody out there
- 37:43Speaker 4: that can hear this show today can hear this message
- 37:46Speaker 4: that wants to make sure that Texas doesn't abandon its
- 37:49Speaker 4: own belief system and put someone in a position of
- 37:52Speaker 4: power that doesn't actually reflect the beliefs of Texas at all.
- 37:55Speaker 4: That you have to tell people the stuff that they
- 37:58Speaker 4: might not know. You have to inform the electorate about
- 38:00Speaker 4: the things that people are pretending are not true. And
- 38:03Speaker 4: even if they don't receive the message because they doubt
- 38:06Speaker 4: the messenger, hopefully something somewhere clicks and they go look
- 38:10Speaker 4: for themselves. Because I do think that once people get
- 38:13Speaker 4: enough information, it's impossible for tall Rico to truly represent
- 38:19Speaker 4: this state. And yet this conversation keeps happening, and it
- 38:22Speaker 4: keeps getting deeper and more serious to how many people,
- 38:26Speaker 4: not just the Foxes of the world, but other places,
- 38:29Speaker 4: believe that it could happen, believe that we're getting closer
- 38:31Speaker 4: and closer to a toss up and a race that
- 38:35Speaker 4: should not be this close. All right, Well, take another break.
- 38:37Speaker 4: After the break, we'll come back and do just a
- 38:39Speaker 4: little bit more news, and then after that we will
- 38:41Speaker 4: talk about some lighter stuff before we get out of here.
- 38:43Speaker 4: It is your Tuesday show on the Craig Collins Show KSV,
- 38:47Speaker 4: The Voice of Texas.
- 38:48Speaker 16: This is Kevin O'Hara with O'Hara and Company real Estate.
- 38:50Speaker 16: Our country's founding fathers drafted a document that is the
- 38:53Speaker 16: Declaration of Independence.
- 38:55Speaker 1: We hold these truths to be self.
- 38:57Speaker 16: Evident that all men are created equal, that they are
- 39:00Speaker 16: endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights, that among
- 39:03Speaker 16: these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
- 39:06Speaker 5: To secure these.
- 39:07Speaker 16: Rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their powers from
- 39:11Speaker 16: the consent of the governed. My friends at o'haran Company
- 39:14Speaker 16: Real Estate, we believe we're at our precipice in time.
- 39:16Speaker 16: We must take back our country. We must stand up
- 39:19Speaker 16: for our freedoms or lose them forever. Please don't sit
- 39:21Speaker 16: idle and let it slip away. Don't let anyone force
- 39:24Speaker 16: you to do something you choose not to. As JFK said,
- 39:28Speaker 16: if not us, who, If not now?
- 39:30Speaker 1: When?
- 39:31Speaker 16: If you're looking to buy our sale real Estate, give

- 39:55Speaker 6: We gotta call lead New Year's Eve. I'll father with
- 39:58Speaker 6: big plans for his family. The next day, said a
- 40:00Speaker 6: garage or spring just snapped. He couldn't get his car
- 40:02Speaker 6: out and wouldn't be able to get his family to
- 40:04Speaker 6: where they needed to go. He felt stuck and alone.
- 40:07Speaker 6: So we showed up fast with the right spring and
- 40:09Speaker 6: the right parts to fix it right.

- 41:10Speaker 3: It's not a pretty truck, but it has everything we
- 41:12Speaker 3: need to get the job done. I kind of like
- 41:14Speaker 3: the way it looks.
- 41:15Speaker 17: Most roofing repairs cost less than five hundred dollars. Why
- 41:19Speaker 17: because we find the cause of the leak and repair
- 41:21Speaker 17: that leak. We won't try to sell you services you
- 41:24Speaker 17: don't need, and we'll fix.

- 41:30Speaker 17: Taos Roofing and I'll send over the truck. Two eight
- 41:33Speaker 17: one two five to one oh three oh four. When
- 41:35Speaker 17: you think of roofing repairs are a new roof, think
- 41:38Speaker 17: Tahos Roofing your Houston Roofing company two eight one two
- 41:42Speaker 17: five to one oh three oh four. That's Tahos Roofing
- 41:45Speaker 17: two eight one two five to one oh three oh four.
- 41:48Speaker 4: This is the Craig Collins show KSV, The Voice of Texas.
- 41:52Speaker 4: I was just talking to my producer Phil Off the
- 41:54Speaker 4: air about whether or not he was a Tupac fan.
- 41:57Speaker 4: Tupac Shakur is someone who was killed in nineteen ninety
- 42:00Speaker 4: six via a drive by shooting, and the murder trial
- 42:05Speaker 4: of Dwayne Davis is occurring in Vegas now, which is
- 42:10Speaker 4: odd to me because it's twenty twenty six. So, like,
- 42:13Speaker 4: I saw this as a headline the other day, and
- 42:15Speaker 4: I kind of knew what was going on here. I
- 42:17Speaker 4: wasn't a huge listener of Tupac myself, and I'm guessing
- 42:20Speaker 4: a lot of the radio audience at KCV or not
- 42:22Speaker 4: huge Tupac fans, although he's absolutely a legend in the field.
- 42:26Speaker 4: But I think it's interesting that it's thirty years later
- 42:29Speaker 4: that we're actually seeing somebody in a courtroom being tried
- 42:32Speaker 4: for this.
- 42:32Speaker 5: I don't know if there's anything you want to say
- 42:34Speaker 5: about it, Phil.
- 42:34Speaker 1: I don't think there was focused on his child for really.
- 42:36Speaker 1: I think there was more so concerned with other stuff
- 42:39Speaker 1: going on in the che They were just pushing into
- 42:41Speaker 1: the sign till they couldn't anymore, and they just had
- 42:43Speaker 1: to get to the bottom of it.
- 42:44Speaker 5: Yeah, I guess, man, I don't know.
- 42:46Speaker 4: It's weird to see something thirty years in the making
- 42:48Speaker 4: finally become the kind of thing where I think, like
- 42:51Speaker 4: a revenge motive is being discussed in the courtroom today
- 42:55Speaker 4: in Vegas, sug Knight said that he had to be
- 42:59Speaker 4: treated as a hostile witness early on, which I think
- 43:02Speaker 4: is that you know what's really interesting about this. I'll
- 43:04Speaker 4: be honest, man, if you cared a lot about Tupac,
- 43:08Speaker 4: and I know you said you listened to his music
- 43:10Speaker 4: a lot, but whatever, like replace Tupac for anyone listening
- 43:14Speaker 4: with whatever something is you care about. If a trial
- 43:16Speaker 4: happens within a couple of years of the horrible thing
- 43:19Speaker 4: that occurred for me, A good example is Charlie Kirk.
- 43:23Speaker 4: Charlie Kirk was assassinated, and now that trial is taking place,
- 43:26Speaker 4: some level of me emotionally is invested. But when it
- 43:31Speaker 4: goes thirty years, I wonder if it's like just a
- 43:34Speaker 4: cerebral just logical, it's no longer the emotional kind of
- 43:37Speaker 4: thing it is for people they just kind of want
- 43:39Speaker 4: the answers, they want the truth. Now they're not quite
- 43:42Speaker 4: as likely to, I think, maybe devolve into conspiracy theory,
- 43:46Speaker 4: as unfortunately we've seen in the Charlie kirk case.
- 43:49Speaker 5: They're just waiting to see what the end result of
- 43:52Speaker 5: this is.
- 43:52Speaker 4: Does that sound right that if you take this long
- 43:55Speaker 4: that it relieves some of the version of more emotional
- 43:58Speaker 4: discussion of this topic.
- 44:00Speaker 1: Yeah, in a way. I mean at this point, like
- 44:03Speaker 1: you said, people just want to know what happened for you,
- 44:05Speaker 1: yeah he did it or that. I mean, yeah, at
- 44:07Speaker 1: this point because a lot of stuff happened after that happened,
- 44:11Speaker 1: So it's like, yes, why are you going back to
- 44:14Speaker 1: this at such a late time. It's a lot of questions,
- 44:17Speaker 1: But yeah, at this point, I'm just trying to figure
- 44:19Speaker 1: out who, if he did it or that.
- 44:20Speaker 4: No, and I appreciate something you just said there because
- 44:22Speaker 4: I do like it a lot. There are several times
- 44:25Speaker 4: when if something takes like thirty years to materialize in
- 44:28Speaker 4: the courtroom, I sort of doubt if it's true, like
- 44:32Speaker 4: from jump, like, I'll pay attention, and I'm not saying
- 44:35Speaker 4: that I can't be convinced that something is is accurate,
- 44:38Speaker 4: But when it takes this long to get to the
- 44:39Speaker 4: point where they're then putting someone on trial for something
- 44:42Speaker 4: like this, you kind of figure that maybe some evidence
- 44:45Speaker 4: has been changed, some things have been you know, like
- 44:48Speaker 4: there's a lot more suspicion I think when it takes
- 44:51Speaker 4: this long to get here.
- 44:52Speaker 1: Yeah, I feel as though they lost some evidence, the evidence.
- 44:54Speaker 1: Can somebody high and something. It's like somebody got fired
- 44:58Speaker 1: and they just took it with him or it burned
- 44:59Speaker 1: it like it's something going on behind the scenes. But
- 45:03Speaker 1: shll yeah, fair god, it took too long.
- 45:04Speaker 4: Yeah, because yeah, it takes you long, but you still
- 45:06Speaker 4: want somebody to be held responsible. So like party you
- 45:08Speaker 4: is also like, will prove to me that it's true,
- 45:10Speaker 4: and then I'll be very happy that I know that
- 45:12Speaker 4: you know, this is what actually happened.
- 45:14Speaker 5: By the way, this is totally different. It has nothing
- 45:16Speaker 5: to do with Tupac.
- 45:18Speaker 4: But as I've been doing the show, I'm noticing something
- 45:20Speaker 4: on my wrist that you can't see, and I'll hold
- 45:23Speaker 4: it up and I doubt even the camera can make
- 45:25Speaker 4: it out very well. My wife, as I said, her
- 45:28Speaker 4: birthday is today, and she was in I forget like
- 45:32Speaker 4: what thrift store with me. But we're in some kind
- 45:34Speaker 4: of thrift store, Phil and she saw these stickers. At
- 45:38Speaker 4: least we thought they were stickers for like Minions, And
- 45:40Speaker 4: my wife loves the Minions because they talk like her.
- 45:43Speaker 5: She says.
- 45:44Speaker 4: My wife speaks fluent English, by the way, and the
- 45:46Speaker 4: minions speak gibberish. But occasionally when the minions are speaking,
- 45:49Speaker 4: they're gibberish. My wife is like, oh, yeah, that's great.
- 45:52Speaker 4: So we bought these things. They're not stickers, they're they're
- 45:55Speaker 4: those water tattoos that like kids get. Yeah, and my
- 45:58Speaker 4: wife put one on me today and she's like, celebrate
- 46:01Speaker 4: my birthday with this minion tattoo. And I feel like
- 46:05Speaker 4: everybody that works here has noticed it. Maybe you didn't
- 46:07Speaker 4: notice it, and like just looked at me, like does
- 46:09Speaker 4: Craig have a minion tattoo on his wrist? Because I don't.
- 46:13Speaker 4: This is a fake tattoo. It's gonna go away soon.
- 46:15Speaker 4: But I'm just wearing it because the missus told me.
- 46:17Speaker 5: I had to.
- 46:18Speaker 1: Hey man, that's amazing that that's beautiful.
- 46:21Speaker 5: Act Yeah, yeah, yeah, it was this morning.
- 46:24Speaker 4: I woke up because she leaves pretty early for work,
- 46:26Speaker 4: and so I woke up to give her hug and
- 46:27Speaker 4: stuff and wash her happy birthday, And then she put
- 46:29Speaker 4: a minion tattoo on my wrist and I was like,
- 46:31Speaker 4: when do I take this off? But if I went
- 46:34Speaker 4: home tonight without the tattoo. I feel like that, right,
- 46:38Speaker 4: he's not in.
- 46:39Speaker 5: His head a problem, right, Yeah, exactly.
- 46:43Speaker 4: By the way, I told the missus that I would
- 46:45Speaker 4: get her dinner, but I come home kind of late
- 46:47Speaker 4: because of the radio show, and she was like, well,
- 46:49Speaker 4: what about just like Chipotle? So I'm taking the wife
- 46:52Speaker 4: out to dinner by stopping by Chipotle on the way
- 46:55Speaker 4: home and bringing her Chipotle on the way home. I
- 46:57Speaker 4: feel kind of bad about that. I feel like that's
- 46:59Speaker 4: not good enough. But it's what she wanted. It's what
- 47:02Speaker 4: she asked for. I remember as a kid my birthday
- 47:05Speaker 4: we'd always have pizza Hut Pizza and I loved it,
- 47:08Speaker 4: and I still have it as a forty year old
- 47:09Speaker 4: man for my birthday. But I don't know that's what
- 47:13Speaker 4: she wants. She wants Chipotle.
- 47:15Speaker 1: So everybody doesn't want anything crazy expansive. She might just
- 47:18Speaker 1: want to be simple to this. You might just want
- 47:20Speaker 1: to just get something where she liked her she craven,
- 47:21Speaker 1: you know what I mean. Just keep it, you know,
- 47:23Speaker 1: just keep it simple.
- 47:24Speaker 4: You know what I love about that is, Yes, if
- 47:25Speaker 4: you look at like the price of certain restaurants, no,
- 47:28Speaker 4: no offense, there's a lot of great restaurants in Houston
- 47:30Speaker 4: that you should probably go to. But I had this
- 47:32Speaker 4: idea in the back of my head, and I don't
- 47:34Speaker 4: know if you've been there. There's a Michelin Star Mexican
- 47:37Speaker 4: restaurant in Houston. You know about this, You know about
- 47:40Speaker 4: the Michelin Star. Yeah, just one Houston Mexican restaurant that
- 47:44Speaker 4: has a Michelin Star. And I was like, man, I
- 47:46Speaker 4: should take Betty there. That'd be so impressive. She'd she'd
- 47:50Speaker 4: love it so much.
- 47:51Speaker 5: It's in crazy, It's it'd be incredible. Uh tom Atao
- 47:54Speaker 5: is the name? Or is that? Am I saying it right?
- 47:58Speaker 1: I know what you're saying.
- 48:00Speaker 5: But anyway, I pitched this terr the other day.
- 48:02Speaker 4: I'm like, we should do this, and two things we're
- 48:06Speaker 4: terrible about this pitch. First, you can't get a reservation
- 48:09Speaker 4: a week or two before at this place, Like that'll
- 48:11Speaker 4: be a month for us to get a reservation. The
- 48:13Speaker 4: other one, it's a tasting menu, and the price of
- 48:17Speaker 4: the entire meal, not that I'm saying people shouldn't go
- 48:20Speaker 4: to this place is a lot of money.
- 48:23Speaker 5: And I showed it to her and she's like, no,
- 48:25Speaker 5: we can't do that.
- 48:26Speaker 4: I can't spend that amount of money for two people
- 48:28Speaker 4: to have a meal when I could just get Chipotle.
- 48:30Speaker 5: And this is why I married the woman. Man, is
- 48:33Speaker 5: this is the win of all wins.
- 48:35Speaker 4: That I tried to pitch her the most expensive Mexican
- 48:37Speaker 4: place in town and she was like, that's incredibly dumb.
- 48:42Speaker 5: Thanks dick, hey, thank you. Yeah.
- 48:44Speaker 4: And actually, my other favorite part of that is that
- 48:46Speaker 4: she told me that some of these ideas I come
- 48:49Speaker 4: up with are really just for me.
- 48:50Speaker 5: They're not even really for it's just for me to
- 48:53Speaker 5: enjoy myself. A lot of this stuff.
- 48:55Speaker 4: The missus is also texting me that she is very
- 48:57Speaker 4: proud of the fact that we're both in our and
- 49:00Speaker 4: she has a dollar tree minion tattoo on my arm.
- 49:05Speaker 1: Man, I know she loves that though, Like it's just
- 49:08Speaker 1: about making it happy, you know what I mean. At
- 49:10Speaker 1: the birthday, let her enjoy, let her give what you
- 49:12Speaker 1: regardless of what it is.
- 49:14Speaker 4: I mean, I totally forgot that it was the dollar tree.
- 49:16Speaker 4: She texted me, She's like, that was the dollar tree.
- 49:18Speaker 4: We were there last night. I bought this, and she
- 49:20Speaker 4: bought like cookies and stuff that she brought to work.
- 49:23Speaker 4: All right, some other things out there before we get
- 49:25Speaker 4: out of here, certainly not serious things.
- 49:27Speaker 5: I'd rather do silly stuff.
- 49:29Speaker 4: I did talk about a story yesterday and then even
- 49:32Speaker 4: my mother texted me, like, I want more information about
- 49:36Speaker 4: the thing that happened. A woman spray painted herself and
- 49:39Speaker 4: some of her dead bushes green to avoid an hoa penalty.
- 49:44Speaker 4: So a woman, I think this was in Florida, a
- 49:47Speaker 4: homeowner found out that she can be penalized for like
- 49:51Speaker 4: dead bushes in front of her house, and so in
- 49:54Speaker 4: order to prevent that from happening, she first spray painted
- 49:58Speaker 4: the bushes to make sure that they looked like green
- 50:00Speaker 4: and vibrant and not as dead as they were. And
- 50:03Speaker 4: when that didn't seem to be convincing enough, she spray
- 50:05Speaker 4: painted herself and got inside the bushes and then put
- 50:08Speaker 4: up a video of it. If someone was like examining this,
- 50:12Speaker 4: if they were checking it out walking by, she thought
- 50:15Speaker 4: she was hidden well enough. If you look this up
- 50:17Speaker 4: on social media, I think most of us agree she
- 50:20Speaker 4: was not that she would have tricked people into thinking
- 50:22Speaker 4: it was just the butches bushes, excuse me, and not
- 50:25Speaker 4: a human plus a bunch of spray painted stuff. But
- 50:28Speaker 4: I love every part of this story because a lot
- 50:30Speaker 4: of people hate their Homeowners Association, their HOA, and sometimes
- 50:34Speaker 4: you do very silly things to get out of very penny,
- 50:39Speaker 4: very stupid penalties, very just annoying things that they do.
- 50:44Speaker 5: This is one of those moves.
- 50:45Speaker 4: Like I think she shouldn't get a forty five dollars
- 50:48Speaker 4: penalty in a fine, like a petty punishment, because she
- 50:52Speaker 4: went this far to try to prevent it.
- 50:54Speaker 5: I think she gets the win.
- 50:55Speaker 4: If you spray paint yourself green and throw yourself in
- 50:57Speaker 4: some bushes, you get to avoid the penalty.
- 51:00Speaker 1: They're doing that to set an example. They don't want
- 51:02Speaker 1: nobody else going into the bushes. Scrap, That's what it is.
- 51:05Speaker 1: Isn't that serious. I don't want to deal with it anymore.
- 51:08Speaker 1: All right, we gonna make an example out of it.
- 51:10Speaker 4: I love I love that you said that, man, Like,
- 51:12Speaker 4: we can't have anybody else doing this. Everybody else in
- 51:15Speaker 4: town is trying to spray paint themselves and dive in
- 51:17Speaker 4: their bushes in order to get this done. Other things
- 51:20Speaker 4: out there that I saw. Polyester is gen Z's newest
- 51:24Speaker 4: viral insult. Do you know what polyester means? If someone
- 51:27Speaker 4: gets called polyester.
- 51:29Speaker 1: I really don't. I know the material polyester, but I
- 51:33Speaker 1: don't know someone being called.
- 51:35Speaker 4: Tell me what you think polyester is? Like, it's it's
- 51:38Speaker 4: as far as like a clothing material. If you have
- 51:40Speaker 4: something that's polyester not cotton, what does that mean?
- 51:43Speaker 1: It's pretty? It's not it's not really durable, it's pretty,
- 51:47Speaker 1: Like yeah.
- 51:49Speaker 5: Yeah, that's what it means.
- 51:50Speaker 4: If you get called polyester by a gen Z or
- 51:53Speaker 4: if they're like, hey, you're pretty polyester, they're saying you're
- 51:56Speaker 4: a low quality person, you're inauthentic, you're not as good
- 52:00Speaker 4: as other people out there.
- 52:02Speaker 5: And they can even go so far as apparently claim.
- 52:04Speaker 4: That you have a polyester lifestyle, which means that a
- 52:07Speaker 4: lot of the things you're doing, maybe even some of
- 52:09Speaker 4: the stuff you brag about in social media, it's low
- 52:12Speaker 4: quality and not as cool as it looks. This is
- 52:15Speaker 4: the latest insult in the world of the gen Z.
- 52:18Speaker 4: I think they try too hard. I know you're gen
- 52:20Speaker 4: Z too, aren't you?
- 52:21Speaker 5: Gen Z?
- 52:21Speaker 1: You are I'm twenty six going on twenty seven.
- 52:24Speaker 4: I think that's in the I think that's in the ballpark.
- 52:27Speaker 4: I think that a lot of the slang is just
- 52:28Speaker 4: trying too hard. Man every time I've ever talked about
- 52:30Speaker 4: gen z slang, and I'm a millennial, I just feel
- 52:34Speaker 4: like it's Internet slang run amuck, and there's so many
- 52:37Speaker 4: things you could just not do, and yet they do them.
- 52:40Speaker 5: Anyway. Are you a slang guy or no?
- 52:43Speaker 1: I am a slang guy, but I feel though it
- 52:44Speaker 1: is just like modern day slang. I mean, people just
- 52:48Speaker 1: come up with stuff every day just to go viral
- 52:51Speaker 1: or be popular. I mean, most people are not going
- 52:54Speaker 1: to use it, but it's going to be somebody that's
- 52:56Speaker 1: going to be like, hey, this is training use it.
- 52:59Speaker 4: The thing I don't get is when like my fifty
- 53:01Speaker 4: something year old friend will text me something and there'll
- 53:04Speaker 4: be a slang word in there, and I'm like, no,
- 53:06Speaker 4: I can't not from you, man, Like if my nephew
- 53:09Speaker 4: does this, I can.
- 53:10Speaker 5: I can appreciate it. But if you send me something
- 53:12Speaker 5: and you're like low low key your cap or whatever
- 53:15Speaker 5: the crap is, people.
- 53:16Speaker 4: Say I can't, I immediately have to be very upset
- 53:19Speaker 4: with a person for that reason.
- 53:21Speaker 1: Yeah, man, I mean it's just a demographic thing. You
- 53:23Speaker 1: know that demographic mom'so a age thing. I mean, not
- 53:27Speaker 1: with it. They're going to be like oh you're lame.
- 53:29Speaker 5: But no, I hate no cap. That means like I'm
- 53:33Speaker 5: telling the truth, right.
- 53:34Speaker 1: Yeah, basically like you're being honest, Like, yeah, I.
- 53:38Speaker 5: Really hate that one. I don't know why I hate
- 53:40Speaker 5: that one so much, but I do.
- 53:42Speaker 4: Anytime anybody sends me a text and they follow up
- 53:44Speaker 4: with a no cap, I'm like, I didn't disbelieve you.
- 53:48Speaker 4: It's not like I needed and you could just tell
- 53:50Speaker 4: me I'm telling you the truth.
- 53:51Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 53:52Speaker 1: In other words, I'm not joking, but yeah.
- 53:55Speaker 5: Yeah, and I'm not doing it no matter how many people.
- 53:57Speaker 4: And I do have family members that try to make
- 53:59Speaker 4: me give the slang back, and I won't play.
- 54:02Speaker 5: I won't play that ballgame, man, I just refuse. All right,
- 54:05Speaker 5: that's it. That's the whole show. I know.
- 54:06Speaker 4: We kind of ended on a sillier note, partially because
- 54:09Speaker 4: I got distracted by my minion tattoo that I swear
- 54:13Speaker 4: a couple of the bosses who work here, we're looking
- 54:15Speaker 4: at my arm and just didn't say anything, which is
- 54:18Speaker 4: my favorite, Like when they look at you like I've
- 54:20Speaker 4: never seen that tattoo on Craig before, and then they
- 54:22Speaker 4: don't want to ask about it. But it's not real.
- 54:25Speaker 4: For anyone listening now, it is not, in fact, a
- 54:27Speaker 4: real thing.
- 54:27Speaker 5: That's it. That's the show.
- 54:28Speaker 4: See you guys next time. Craig Collins Show KSV, Voice
- 54:31Speaker 4: of Texas
