- 0:06SPEAKER_00: Welcome to the Daily Rider Podcast, where we bring you tips and inspiration each day to help you build habits for writing success.

- 0:22SPEAKER_00: Like me, you probably get sucked into lists of books, movies, or music that other people have put together.
- 0:28SPEAKER_00: And these might consist of the top 10 movies of all time, the best 50 guitarists, the top 15 novels, the top 10 books on writing, the top songs on Spotify, a ranking of Star Wars movies, and so on and so on.
- 0:41SPEAKER_00: And those lists are important because they keep people engaged and they give us some context of how to think about other people's creative work.
- 0:49SPEAKER_00: But remember that human beings have made those curated lists.
- 0:53SPEAKER_00: Someone somewhere decided they were going to be a tastemaker and they were going to put their opinion out there for the rest of the world to see.
- 1:01SPEAKER_00: Well, here's the cool thing, you can do the exact same thing, and there's actually great power in doing so.
- 1:08SPEAKER_00: One of the best ways that you can serve your readers is not only by creating content like blog posts or books or podcasts, but also by curating other people's content.
- 1:17SPEAKER_00: There is so much material out there that it's hard to wade through.
- 1:21SPEAKER_00: How can we possibly make sense of it all unless somebody helps us?
- 1:24SPEAKER_00: So, whatever your area of writing, I want you to think about ways that you can help your reader to rank or arrange the best material out there.
- 1:32SPEAKER_00: Help them understand what's worth watching, what's worth reading, or what's worth listening to, and what's not worth listening to, what's not worth reading, what should you pass up?
- 1:41SPEAKER_00: I want you to become that person that other people turn to for leadership and guidance in your space.
- 1:47SPEAKER_00: As a creative person and as a writer, this is an important part of the way that you can have an impact in your space, and it's an important way that you can serve other people.
- 1:56SPEAKER_00: So don't just sit by and let other people be the curators and the tastemakers.
- 2:01SPEAKER_00: Take it upon yourself to be the one who helps determine the best content in your field.
- 2:07SPEAKER_00: Here's today's question.
- 2:08SPEAKER_00: If you were going to make a list of the top 10 items in your field, what would be on that list?
