Transcript
- 0:00SPEAKER_01: Welcome to Vegas Revealed episode 34.
- 0:04SPEAKER_02: We recently learned which restaurants and lounges are going inside the new Virgin Hotel, which used to be the Hard Rock.
- 0:11SPEAKER_02: We get an update from the president of the new hotel that's located just off the Las Vegas Strip.
- 0:16SPEAKER_01: Plus, we lose another big attraction here in Las Vegas, the National Finals rodeo, is going to take place in Texas this year.
- 0:24SPEAKER_01: And NFL football kicks off, and the Golden Knights, hey, they're still in the playoffs.
- 0:29SPEAKER_02: We have a ton to talk about.
- 0:31SPEAKER_02: Let's get it started on Vegas Revealed.
- 0:47SPEAKER_01: Hey, welcome to Vegas Revealed as we approach mid-September.
- 0:51SPEAKER_01: There's so much in Vegas to talk about.
- 0:53SPEAKER_01: I'm Dana Roselli.
- 0:54SPEAKER_02: And I'm Sean McAllister.
- 0:56SPEAKER_02: Let's get right to something new, which anything new in Las Vegas right now is exciting.
- 1:02SPEAKER_02: And we did one of our podcasts, one of our first podcasts, from the iconic Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.
- 1:09SPEAKER_02: It was the day that the casino was closing down.
- 1:12SPEAKER_02: We were over there, we talked to the president, uh Richard Bozworth.
- 1:16SPEAKER_02: He's called Boz.
- 1:18SPEAKER_02: Right, that's his name.
- 1:19SPEAKER_02: Employees and friends and colleagues.
- 1:21SPEAKER_02: They all call him Boz.
- 1:22SPEAKER_02: And um the Virgin Hotels, which is the new name of the property, the new brand of the property, they put out their list of uh the restaurants and lounges and clubs that are going to be a part of this new property when it when it opens.
- 1:38SPEAKER_02: It's that's still TBD, but it's soon.
- 1:40SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and it's exciting because we had gotten a couple of the restaurants out of them in our last podcast that we did with him, and one of them was, you know, Todd English was gonna welcome back olives, and that was great.
- 1:51SPEAKER_01: And so, yes, that's on the list.
- 1:52SPEAKER_01: And then they've got a thing called Night Plus Market, which is apparently very popular in Los Angeles, and uh the chef and mastermind is from there, and then Nobu is coming too, which is you know a classic, it's so well known all over the world, really.
- 2:08SPEAKER_02: Yeah, because Nobu had a uh uh location at the Hard Rock, and then of course opened up over at Caesar's Palace.
- 2:15SPEAKER_02: But uh Nobu Matsuhisa, he is the uh world-renowned chef who's kind of become a part of the fabric of the Las Vegas culinary scene.
- 2:24SPEAKER_01: Yeah, he really has.
- 2:26SPEAKER_01: There's a whole list of really cool restaurants, and one of them is even Pizza Forte, which is created by the Ferraro family, and they're local, and we love that.
- 2:34SPEAKER_01: We love that they're welcoming uh local people and local chefs and local families to open businesses inside, you know, a resort casino property.
- 2:43SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and of course, the the Hard Rock was known for its pools.
- 2:46SPEAKER_02: That's where the uh epic rehab pool party was, you know, MTV Spring Break was out there, lots of reality shows were filmed at at rehab and at the Hard Rock pools.
- 2:58SPEAKER_02: And uh the Virgin Hotel is going to have uh their own iconic pool experiences with uh a handful of uh restaurants and lounges that kind of connect to that pool environment.
- 3:10SPEAKER_02: And the Hawkasan group is gonna be there with uh a Mexican cantina.
- 3:14SPEAKER_02: So, I mean, the list is really extensive.
- 3:18SPEAKER_01: It really is, and they have the whole other area called the Commons Club, which we'll get into in a minute.
- 3:23SPEAKER_01: But listen, talking about this, all this stuff makes me excited because I feel like not a lot's open right now and life used to be fun.
- 3:29SPEAKER_01: But um, let's let's hear from Boz.
- 3:31SPEAKER_01: Now he says the new spots are gonna be tailored toward visitors from all over the world, which we love, and but locals too.
- 3:38SPEAKER_00: We wanted a very complete food and beverage operation with lots of offerings from fine dining to fun and approachable.
- 3:44SPEAKER_00: Um, and you know, you can go to New York, you can go to LA, you can go to Chicago, you can go to Paris, and you can get great restaurants.
- 3:50SPEAKER_00: It's always been my belief that just because you're a great restaurant in LA or New York or Chicago or Paris doesn't mean that that guarantees you success and that's going to translate in Las Vegas.
- 4:01SPEAKER_00: So what we really wanted was a combination of just great food, just great service.
- 4:07SPEAKER_00: And we have a number of um, you know, very exciting, uh acclaimed, uh world-renowned chefs like Chef Nobu and of course Todd English and the Morton family, but we also have a lot of really young, exciting new culinarians that we've made part of the entire operation, and I'm so excited about them as well.
- 4:24SPEAKER_00: And maybe they're not world-renowned yet, but the one thing that they all have in common is excellence in food and excellence in service.
- 4:32SPEAKER_00: And we really believe that the customer base and the local market, particularly, uh, which you know we really want to do some exciting things for for the local market here.
- 4:41SPEAKER_00: Um, they're just gonna we we think they're just gonna be so well received.
- 4:45SPEAKER_00: And again, very approachable, very fun to find dining, all different price points.
- 4:50SPEAKER_01: So, yeah, let's go back to this signature concept commons club, okay?
- 4:54SPEAKER_01: All right.
- 4:55SPEAKER_01: One thing that stuck out to me is the funny library coffee shop.
- 4:58SPEAKER_01: And I saw a couple pictures and it looks so cute.
- 5:00SPEAKER_01: It's like this communal workspace.
- 5:02SPEAKER_01: Um, you can, you know, grab a coffee, open your laptop, because now maybe we'll have a lot of visitors that are gonna be doing some work on the road.
- 5:08SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and that's the name of it Funny Library Coffee Shop.
- 5:11SPEAKER_02: I know.
- 5:12SPEAKER_02: Which is kind of fun.
- 5:13SPEAKER_02: And they also have the shag room.
- 5:16SPEAKER_02: You know, when I saw that, I was like, hmm, what's gonna happen in the shag room?
- 5:19SPEAKER_01: Now are we talking shag carpet or what are we talking here?
- 5:21SPEAKER_02: Well, it's a place where cocktails are served, and they say that everyone can just go and let their hair down.
- 5:27SPEAKER_02: So, you know, yeah, I think that kind of harkens back to the what happens here stays here slogan.
- 5:33SPEAKER_01: Exactly.
- 5:34SPEAKER_01: And it's always great when uh these hotel casinos have 24-hour, seven-day-a-week places, and and the kitchen at the Commons Club is is gonna be that.
- 5:42SPEAKER_01: So that would be kind of like like what the Hard Rock had, was it Mr.
- 5:45SPEAKER_01: Mr.
- 5:46SPEAKER_01: Mr.
- 5:46SPEAKER_01: Lucky's?
- 5:47SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that was great.
- 5:47SPEAKER_02: That was ugh, that was I had many, many late-night meals at Mr.
- 5:52SPEAKER_02: Lucky's.
- 5:53SPEAKER_02: That was great.
- 5:53SPEAKER_02: So, as we get this news, some exciting news about the future of Las Vegas, you know, the scales always balance out.
- 6:01SPEAKER_02: We also got some bad news about an annual event that so many people get excited for here in Las Vegas, National Finals Rodeo.
- 6:09SPEAKER_01: I know.
- 6:10SPEAKER_01: So they're gonna skip out on 2020, which really bums us out because we make about 200 million dollars from the National Finals Rodeo each year.
- 6:19SPEAKER_01: And obviously, we wouldn't expect to make that much this year, probably because people wouldn't travel in as much, and then of course the 50% capacity and all that kind of thing.
- 6:27SPEAKER_01: But they've decided to keep it in Texas this year.
- 6:30SPEAKER_01: But the good news is, Sean, they say it's just this year and that they will come back next year.
- 6:35SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and that is again mainly because of uh the capacity restrictions that we have on on venues here in in Las Vegas, and there's no telling really when those restrictions are going to be lifted, and arenas and theaters will be able to, you know, welcome people back for ticketed events.
- 6:52SPEAKER_02: But National Finals Rodeo has been here in Las Vegas at the Thomas and Mac since 1985.
- 6:59SPEAKER_02: So it's it's a staple, and I know that I have friends whose family members fly in from across the country just to go to one or two nights of the rodeo action, and it's fun.
- 7:11SPEAKER_01: It is.
- 7:11SPEAKER_01: I mean, listen, last year I did a little freelance work and I had to go interview one of like the big time cowboys, all right?
- 7:18SPEAKER_01: And like I didn't know my cowboy knowledge, so but like it was like, oh, I had to wait there, and then is he coming down?
- 7:25SPEAKER_01: And then oh, is he who's who's bringing him down?
- 7:27SPEAKER_01: I mean, it was like royalty, and I was like, what is this?
- 7:30SPEAKER_01: A whole nother world.
- 7:32SPEAKER_02: Well, and these guys make some serious bank.
- 7:34SPEAKER_02: Yeah, like if you win at the rodeo, you're walking away with uh tens of thousands of dollars, if not hundreds of thousands of dollars.
- 7:42SPEAKER_02: So it is a big deal, and then of course, there's the extracurricular activities that come with the rodeo.
- 7:48SPEAKER_02: There's usually uh a whole roster of country stars who are in town that first week of December to put on concerts, and there's cowboy Christmas, which is like a big convention and and uh really kind of like a a big country flea market, but it's where you can find all the bling.
- 8:05SPEAKER_01: Right, the good stuff.
- 8:06SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I know.
- 8:07SPEAKER_01: People look forward to that.
- 8:08SPEAKER_01: And you know, we're right now actually sitting in my condo um right near the convention center, and usually I can look out off my balcony and it's like cowboy Christmas people are coming and going, the cowboy hats, the Levi's, the whole nine, and they are stocking up on their cowboy, everything from a little cowboy ornament ornament uh or to yeah, the real bling, the real bling.
- 8:27SPEAKER_02: That's where you can get your your custom hat, you can get the boots and that stuff.
- 8:33SPEAKER_02: That stuff is not cheap, and let me tell you, the first time I went to National Finals rodeo, I was blown away by the outfits that people wore.
- 8:42SPEAKER_02: I thought it would just be kind of like a sea of denim and plaid.
- 8:46SPEAKER_02: No, no, no, no, no.
- 8:47SPEAKER_02: Like people go all out, and the ladies are all rhinestoned out, the guys are, I mean, they're dressed to the nines too for this rodeo.
- 8:57SPEAKER_02: Yeah, definitely.
- 8:58SPEAKER_02: So we'll welcome them back in 2021.
- 9:00SPEAKER_02: Unfortunately, uh NFR National Finals rodeo not going to take place here in Las Vegas this year.
- 9:06SPEAKER_01: It's a big bummer.
- 9:07SPEAKER_01: So, I mean, next I want to talk about quickly uh something that could be either good news or bad news to some people that the Kardashians announced they're canceling the reality show after what, 24 seasons or something like that?
- 9:18SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, it seems like it's been forever.
- 9:20SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 9:21SPEAKER_02: I mean, they've kind of redefined what reality television is all about.
- 9:27SPEAKER_01: Mm-hmm.
- 9:27SPEAKER_01: They did.
- 9:28SPEAKER_01: And like, you know, the Kardashians, and I talk about them in the link to Vegas because they have visited here many, many times, you know, making appearances at nightclubs and you know, even shooting parts of the show here uh now and then I think they have um when they hop on a plane and come to Vegas for something.
- 9:44SPEAKER_01: And so, you know, it's been a part of kind of Las Vegas too.
- 9:49SPEAKER_01: And I don't know, I think a lot of people are like, it's time to hang up the hat, and thank goodness I'm not upset about it.
- 9:54SPEAKER_02: Well, listen, think what you will about the the Kardashians, they have, as you mentioned, contributed to the rise of the of nightlife here in Las Vegas and and helped it evolve into what it is.
- 10:08SPEAKER_02: I mean, uh, Kim was part of that crowd with Paris Hilton, who back in the days of uh Pure Nightclub over at Caesars Palace, that was like the first Mega Nightclub.
- 10:19SPEAKER_02: Kim was one of the celebrities who was popping up there.
- 10:22SPEAKER_02: And then when Tau Nightclub opened up at the Venetian, that ended up being one of her regular spots.
- 10:28SPEAKER_02: And Chloe Kardashian opened up the Kardashian Chaos Store over at the Mirage.
- 10:33SPEAKER_02: So they really have been a part of this city for a long time.
- 10:36SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and I think even a couple Vegas magazine parties, I remember that they were at, maybe because they were on the cover or something.
- 10:42SPEAKER_01: So yeah, um, I'm sure they'll come up with something new, as the Kardashians always do, you know, they never just go away.
- 10:48SPEAKER_02: No, they don't.
- 10:49SPEAKER_02: No, they don't.
- 10:50SPEAKER_02: And funny story.
- 10:51SPEAKER_02: So our uh uh longtime colleague and friend of ours, Robin Leach, who was a part of the Las Vegas entertainment community for for decades, he sadly passed away.
- 11:03SPEAKER_02: Um there I remember covering one event with him, and uh I was getting ready to interview him uh in connection with the final season of American Idol on Fox when the show was leaving Fox and ultimately ended up at ABC.
- 11:20SPEAKER_02: But uh because Robin, a lot of people may not know, uh, was one of the creators of Star Search, which kind of led to what American Idol came to be.
- 11:31SPEAKER_02: So we were talking about the evolution of reality competition shows and reality TV in general, and I brought up the Kardashians and in true Robin fashion, he looked at me and he said, You know, one bad apple ruins the whole bushel.
- 11:49SPEAKER_02: That's definitely not my best Robin impression.
- 11:52SPEAKER_02: No, but it's good, it's close.
- 11:54SPEAKER_02: Oh, and he just said he was like, they have contributed to the downfall of reality TV.
- 12:01SPEAKER_02: Oh my god.
- 12:01SPEAKER_02: I'm sure many people would argue with that.
- 12:03SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 12:04SPEAKER_01: It just kind of redefined what reality TV is, but that you know, he always kept it real, and I always felt like he was usually right.
- 12:12SPEAKER_02: He knew what he was talking about.
- 12:13SPEAKER_01: He did know what he was talking about.
- 12:15SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so the show will be coming to an end, and um, you know, uh we'll see.
- 12:19SPEAKER_01: We'll see what else they're doing.
- 12:20SPEAKER_01: They're creating all sorts of different stuff all the time on their Instagram and Twitter, so I see it all.
- 12:24SPEAKER_01: So um anyway, good or bad news, depending on on if you on if you care about the Kardashians.
- 12:30SPEAKER_01: Um, our friend uh Brandon Paul from Graceland Wedding Chapel making some entertainment news this week.
- 12:37SPEAKER_01: Remember, we had him on he is Elvis over at Graceland.
- 12:40SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 12:40SPEAKER_01: We did a great interview with him, and all of a sudden I'm scrolling through Instagram and I see I see him because his Elvis outfit is eye-catching.
- 12:49SPEAKER_01: And he actually was part of a ceremony for Stranger Things, David Harbour, and then Lily Allen.
- 12:56SPEAKER_01: They tied the knot there just recently, and how cool is that?
- 13:01SPEAKER_02: I know.
- 13:02SPEAKER_02: You know what though?
- 13:02SPEAKER_02: It just goes right along with the string of celebrity weddings that have been a part of Las Vegas from the very beginning.
- 13:11SPEAKER_02: I mean, Betty White got married here for heaven's sakes.
- 13:14SPEAKER_02: Oh my goodness.
- 13:14SPEAKER_02: She was one of the I I shouldn't say one of the first.
- 13:17SPEAKER_02: I'm sure there were many before her, but you know, she was one of the big notable marriages that happened here, and now right on up to uh David Harbour and and Lily Allen.
- 13:28SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I guess they had their re reception at a local uh In N Out.
- 13:31SPEAKER_01: I saw a lot of people.
- 13:31SPEAKER_02: I saw that with the kids sitting around at the picnic table.
- 13:34SPEAKER_01: Why not?
- 13:35SPEAKER_01: A lot of people commenting underneath, going, This is exactly the kind of wedding I would want.
- 13:38SPEAKER_02: Oh, it's so low-key, not a lot of fuss and mus.
- 13:42SPEAKER_02: It did, it looked great.
- 13:44SPEAKER_02: Congratulations to them.
- 13:45SPEAKER_01: All right, well, the NFL has officially uh kicked up the Las Vegas Raiders uh playing.
- 13:52SPEAKER_01: I think today, our podcast gets released on a Sunday.
- 13:55SPEAKER_01: We're actually recording this a few days earlier, but Sunday, I believe, is the first game for the Raiders.
- 14:00SPEAKER_01: So it's exciting stuff.
- 14:01SPEAKER_01: Just a reminder, still can't have uh when we have our home games, we can't have fans in our stadium.
- 14:06SPEAKER_01: They decided to not have that, but which is a bummer because we have a brand new beautiful stadium.
- 14:10SPEAKER_02: Which by the way, speaking of the stadium, I drove by there the other night.
- 14:14SPEAKER_02: I was driving uh south on the the 15, the highway that goes right next to the uh stadium, and at the one end, at the north end of the stadium, there's this massive glass wall that opens up.
- 14:29SPEAKER_02: And for the first time I saw it opened up, and you could see inside the stadium, and they had all the lights on.
- 14:36SPEAKER_02: They were testing out the video walls inside, and it looked amazing.
- 14:41SPEAKER_02: I think once people finally are able to get inside, it's going to take their breath away.
- 14:46SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it really is.
- 14:48SPEAKER_01: It's so cool, and and they're really gonna have everything like really prepped and ready because even this was they they finished it not too long ago.
- 14:56SPEAKER_01: Just in the nick of time.
- 14:56SPEAKER_01: So it's almost like maybe like a little pressure off for them.
- 14:58SPEAKER_01: Like, you know what I mean?
- 14:59SPEAKER_01: By next year, everything will be amazing.
- 15:02SPEAKER_01: So, yeah, we look forward to a good season, welcoming the Las Vegas uh Raiders to town.
- 15:07SPEAKER_01: The Golden Knights still in the playoffs, which we love uh when it comes to hockey.
- 15:12SPEAKER_01: And you know, the goalie whole controversy keeps continuing on.
- 15:15SPEAKER_01: I I was reading today on Twitter that people were saying they think this might be Marc-Andre Fleury's last season with the Golden Knights.
- 15:22SPEAKER_01: And it kind of bummed me out.
- 15:23SPEAKER_01: I don't know if that's true or not.
- 15:24SPEAKER_01: It bums me out too.
- 15:25SPEAKER_02: I mean, he he's got a contract that extends for another, I think, two years beyond this season.
- 15:33SPEAKER_02: So um I I hope he sticks around.
- 15:35SPEAKER_02: I know that there's been a lot of uh a lot said about the new coach coming in, sticking a new goalie in the net, and bumping Marc Andre Fleury from his starting starting spot, but he has still played, he's played well.
- 15:50SPEAKER_02: Um, you know, they've they've gotten along well.
- 15:53SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 15:54SPEAKER_01: And I think, you know, they're both good.
- 15:56SPEAKER_01: So I mean I'd rather have two good goalies than oh, they're both fantastic.
- 15:59SPEAKER_02: Two terrible goalies.
- 16:01SPEAKER_02: Robin Leonard is our uh is the other goalie who's been who's been starting.
- 16:04SPEAKER_02: And when you have uh Leonard and Flurry as your uh goaltending roster, that's a pretty good it's a pretty good team to have.
- 16:14SPEAKER_01: Yeah, definitely.
- 16:16SPEAKER_01: So um before we take a break, I did want to point out that we were supposed to um be doing this week's podcast from the win, and we had teased that and talked about it last week, so I just want to address that.
- 16:25SPEAKER_01: The new Lake of Dreams, which is still uh ongoing, um, but they decided to kind of push off the unveiling over at the win.
- 16:32SPEAKER_01: So we got a note saying, you know, we're gonna move this, we'll let you know when it's rescheduled and all that kind of thing.
- 16:37SPEAKER_01: So we look forward to seeing that.
- 16:38SPEAKER_02: Yeah, in the coming weeks, you will be hearing about that uh here on Vegas Revealed, and you'll be seeing it on our uh social media platform, so keep an eye out for that.
- 16:47SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 16:48SPEAKER_01: All right, well, stay uh with us.
- 16:49SPEAKER_01: We're gonna take a quick little break and then we'll be back with our secret tips.

- 17:33SPEAKER_01: Go to Vegas-revealed.com and see what we're all about.
- 17:40SPEAKER_02: Welcome back to Vegas Revealed.
- 17:42SPEAKER_02: It's time for our tips of the week.
- 17:44SPEAKER_02: And Dana, you know, when a lot of people come to Vegas, especially for a week or an extended stay even longer than a week, it they think about all the attractions and the things to do here on the Las Vegas Strip.
- 17:59SPEAKER_02: But a lot of people don't think about the fact that we're s really in a great location here in Las Vegas because Arizona, Utah, California, there are some amazing places that are a a day trip away.
- 18:12SPEAKER_02: And I know my my husband and I are planning a quick weekend getaway up to uh Zion National Park in Utah and do a quick hike up there, stay overnight, and then get back home.
- 18:25SPEAKER_02: But it that's a great trip, and it's absolutely beautiful.
- 18:29SPEAKER_02: Southern Utah is amazing.
- 18:30SPEAKER_01: Uh so how so I've only gone as far as like what is it, Cedar City.
- 18:34SPEAKER_01: I went to camping there in a cabin.
- 18:35SPEAKER_01: But what what how far is Zion again?
- 18:38SPEAKER_02: Uh so St.
- 18:39SPEAKER_02: George is about two hours from Las Vegas, and then it's about a half hour beyond that.
- 18:44SPEAKER_02: So two and a half hours.
- 18:46SPEAKER_02: If you get up early and go out there, or if you stay overnight in St.
- 18:50SPEAKER_02: George, which is what we're planning on doing, and then it's just a half-hour trip to the entrance of the park.
- 18:55SPEAKER_02: You you hike all day and come home.
- 18:59SPEAKER_01: Uh take a hike for me.
- 19:04SPEAKER_01: So maybe when you loop around the second time, think of me, Dave.
- 19:07SPEAKER_01: There we go.
- 19:08SPEAKER_01: I will.
- 19:08SPEAKER_01: I will.
- 19:08SPEAKER_01: Um, but like like how are the prices when you were looking, like for a weekend?
- 19:12SPEAKER_01: Because I know weekends must be busy because people are taking advantage of the outdoors, but are they good?
- 19:16SPEAKER_01: Are they the same?
- 19:16SPEAKER_01: Are they lower?
- 19:17SPEAKER_01: Like for the business prices for the hotel?
- 19:19SPEAKER_01: Yeah, for the hotels.
- 19:20SPEAKER_02: Um in St.
- 19:21SPEAKER_02: George, I found a a hotel.
- 19:25SPEAKER_02: It wasn't like a a fancy place, but it was like$79 for Friday night into Saturday.
- 19:31SPEAKER_02: So that's not terrible.
- 19:33SPEAKER_02: There were a lot that were up in the 140 range, 140 to 200.
- 19:37SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 19:38SPEAKER_02: Um, which for a quick overnight, I don't think is worth it.
- 19:41SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 19:42SPEAKER_02: But um, yeah, so uh there are still lower price places.
- 19:46SPEAKER_01: Not if you're getting up early and hiking all day long.
- 19:49SPEAKER_01: Sounds like a blast.
- 19:51SPEAKER_01: No, listen, people love it, and it's uh obviously it's great.
- 19:55SPEAKER_01: The picture can't wait to see all the pictures.
- 19:57SPEAKER_01: And I know it's kind of a good refresher to get out of all of this sometimes, isn't it?
- 20:01SPEAKER_02: It is, it is.
- 20:02SPEAKER_01: So um something I just wanted to mention that I did this week was I have a friend in town.
- 20:06SPEAKER_01: I met him over at uh the patio at Monomiga B at Paris.
- 20:10SPEAKER_01: We've talked about that in the past.
- 20:11SPEAKER_01: Um, and I hadn't been there in you know so long because of everything going on, and so went to the Paris, you know.
- 20:17SPEAKER_01: I must say, the whole fact that you can park for free is great.
- 20:20SPEAKER_01: You just drive right in.
- 20:21SPEAKER_01: But um, the parking garage was actually kind of busy, but when I was walking down that area of you know, like all the the shops and restaurants where you kind of go down the escalator and you have to link into the casino, it was like so strange.
- 20:31SPEAKER_01: There was like me and three people.
- 20:32SPEAKER_01: I'm not kidding.
- 20:33SPEAKER_01: Really?
- 20:33SPEAKER_02: Yes, it's usually packed in there.
- 20:35SPEAKER_01: It was the weirdest feeling, and it was on the Tuesday after Labor Day.
- 20:39SPEAKER_01: So I know a lot of people were in for the weekend and maybe whatever, but I mean, all the restaurants on that row really weren't open.
- 20:45SPEAKER_01: There was like one or two at the end, and then the coffee shop.
- 20:48SPEAKER_01: There was a shop or two open, but it was really.
- 20:52SPEAKER_02: Although that is where their buffet is, too, and that's usually part of the true what draws the crowds in is that long line of people waiting to get into the buffet there.
- 21:00SPEAKER_01: Yep, that's a good point.
- 21:01SPEAKER_01: So yeah, that that was sad to see.
- 21:03SPEAKER_01: When I got to the casino, it was a little bit busier, and then Mona Miga B, we went and and you know, they're very strict with you can't book the patio ahead of time.
- 21:09SPEAKER_01: You have to go and it's first come, first serve.
- 21:11SPEAKER_01: So we went at like 6 30 though on a Tuesday, and I just want to say, like, the inside was not busy at all.
- 21:17SPEAKER_01: And then basically we got right out on the patio, which was nice because the tables were were really separated, which was great.
- 21:24SPEAKER_01: Plus, you're outdoors, and you know, the fountains are still going off and all that whole experience was still there.
- 21:30SPEAKER_01: It just um it just wasn't very busy inside the restaurant.
- 21:35SPEAKER_01: So, but it's that time type uh like time of season to now where we can start sitting on the patio again because usually in the day it's so hot.
- 21:42SPEAKER_02: Oh, yes, and we just dipped down the other night to into the 60s, so it's so nice and refreshing just to have a light jacket on and sit outside and enjoy the outdoors again now that it's yeah not not scorching like the surface of the sun.
- 21:57SPEAKER_01: I know.
- 21:58SPEAKER_01: No, it's so true.
- 21:59SPEAKER_01: But a great meal, the staff was so nice, they're really just all just trying to go with the changes and doing their best, and so gave a good tip, and that was really fun.
- 22:07SPEAKER_01: My friends in town got a good deal over at the Encorn Win for like 79 bucks a night, and then you get like a free breakfast with it and all that kind of thing.
- 22:14SPEAKER_01: And you know, it's interesting because the the room rates have been such a hot topic of conversation on Twitter.
- 22:20SPEAKER_01: Um, so people saying, well, the lower the room rates go, the different kinds of crowds that we're getting here in Las Vegas, we've had a bunch of incidents and things like that.
- 22:29SPEAKER_01: But you know, I mean, listen, take advantage of a good deal now if you can get it and you've got the time.
- 22:34SPEAKER_01: Uh, I have a feeling the rates will probably start to creep up a little bit more.
- 22:38SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 22:39SPEAKER_01: But for now, you know what?
- 22:41SPEAKER_01: Um, if there's a if you can get breakfast for free thrown into your package, hey, why not?
- 22:46SPEAKER_01: Take advantage.
- 22:47SPEAKER_02: Absolutely.
- 22:47SPEAKER_02: Take whatever you can get at this point.
- 22:49SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 22:49SPEAKER_02: I I do need to umogling over there.
- 22:52SPEAKER_01: I'm like, what's he doing?
- 22:53SPEAKER_02: Dana, you have a birthday.
- 22:54SPEAKER_01: I don't today.
- 22:56SPEAKER_01: Well, today's Sunday that we release it, so it would be my birthday.
- 23:00SPEAKER_01: Happy birthday! But even though it's Friday that we're taping this, it's not quite or no, it's Thursday that we're taping this, it's not quite my birthday yet.
- 23:07SPEAKER_01: So don't push me up a year ahead until I have to.
- 23:10SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 23:11SPEAKER_02: All right.
- 23:11SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna be 45, Sean.
- 23:13SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna be halfway to 90.
- 23:14SPEAKER_01: Look at that.
- 23:16SPEAKER_01: It's like, I feel like it's a fictional half-life because I'm not really quite sure if I'm living past 90.
- 23:21SPEAKER_01: But yeah, I know everyone's like, what are you gonna do for your birthday?
- 23:24SPEAKER_01: I'm like, nothing.
- 23:25SPEAKER_01: Birthday, sh birthday.
- 23:26SPEAKER_01: I'm not a huge birthday person.
- 23:27SPEAKER_01: I don't know what it is if I don't like the attention.
- 23:29SPEAKER_01: I love celebrating other people's birthdays.
- 23:30SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 23:31SPEAKER_01: But it's just like a weird thing.
- 23:32SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, is it all those years on TV where I've just already got so much attention and I'm like, uh, we don't need this too, you know?
- 23:38SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 23:39SPEAKER_01: Or or what, but I don't know.
- 23:41SPEAKER_01: It always makes me uncomfortable.
- 23:42SPEAKER_01: And then I don't like planning.
- 23:44SPEAKER_01: Like people are like, what do you want to do?
- 23:45SPEAKER_01: I'm like, I don't know.
- 23:46SPEAKER_01: What do you want to do?
- 23:47SPEAKER_01: Or like whatever.
- 23:48SPEAKER_01: But then, like, you don't want to wake up and hang out by yourself all day either.
- 23:51SPEAKER_01: So I feel like a birthday is a celebration to the mom.
- 23:54SPEAKER_01: They're the ones who gave birth.
- 23:56SPEAKER_01: Happy birthday, mom.
- 23:57SPEAKER_02: They did the work, right?
- 23:57SPEAKER_02: They did the work.
- 23:58SPEAKER_02: Men alive.
- 23:59SPEAKER_02: Well, I just want to wish you happy birthday now, and everyone uh around the world and across the country who are who's listening.
- 24:07SPEAKER_02: Send Dana birthday wishes.
- 24:09SPEAKER_02: Wish her a very happy birthday.
- 24:11SPEAKER_01: I promise to write back.
- 24:12SPEAKER_01: And you know, if you're if you're if you're gonna write, maybe you tweet us or something in the in from a different country and you put it in that language.
- 24:18SPEAKER_01: How about that?
- 24:19SPEAKER_02: Yeah, or you know what, the best birthday present of all would be to uh go to whatever platform you're listening to us on and give us a five-star rating and leave us some comments.
- 24:28SPEAKER_01: Oh my gosh.
- 24:29SPEAKER_01: Uh that would be the best birthday present ever.
- 24:32SPEAKER_01: Please do.
- 24:33SPEAKER_01: And have a great week, everyone.
- 24:35SPEAKER_01: Think of me during your week and how I'm going half-life.
- 24:38SPEAKER_02: Roselli the birthday girl.
- 24:40SPEAKER_02: Thanks for listening to Vegas Reveal.
- 24:42SPEAKER_01: Have a good one.
- 24:43SPEAKER_01: Because the sky is cold.
