- 0:04Speaker 1: It's a podcast called twenty five whist So stuck in
- 0:07Speaker 1: fun ball and they win a whistle.
- 0:10Speaker 2: So, yeah, it's too bad, But what did you expect.
- 0:13Speaker 1: It's a podcast called twenty five Whistles, twenty wine whin.
- 0:18Speaker 2: Everybody, Welcome to the show. Mike hit that whistle. Who
- 0:22Speaker 2: we are our episode oney thirteen? We stop counting episodes
- 0:26Speaker 2: For those that don't know, this whole show started because
- 0:28Speaker 2: I agree to do twenty five episodes.
- 0:29Speaker 3: That's it. That's why it's called twenty five whistles.
- 0:31Speaker 2: Literally, I have sometimes I'll forget to like reset that
- 0:34Speaker 2: because it's so normal to us. But whenever, years ago,
- 0:38Speaker 2: when DraftKings first started, they said, hey, will you do
- 0:40Speaker 2: three times a week show? I don't think I have
- 0:42Speaker 2: the capacity for that. Well will you do fifty shows?
- 0:46Speaker 2: I don't, I'll do twenty five And then obviously now
- 0:49Speaker 2: we're at like one million.
- 0:50Speaker 3: That's crazy.
- 0:51Speaker 2: Yeah, so that's why it's called twenty five whistles. I'm
- 0:53Speaker 2: glad everybody's here. Whistle's blown. And that's why it's a
- 0:56Speaker 2: whistle because we would start the show.
- 0:58Speaker 3: Yeah, everybody had a whistle.
- 0:59Speaker 2: Yeah, we don't wear them the whole time. Yeah, first season.
- 1:02Speaker 3: Speaking of the gold whistle that you guys got that.
- 1:05Speaker 2: You got us find it?
- 1:07Speaker 3: No, No, I saw I heard a whistle in my
- 1:09Speaker 3: house yesterday and I was like, oh, it's cool. They
- 1:11Speaker 3: found a whistle. Somebody had found my gold whistle which
- 1:13Speaker 3: was in my office in its case. My little seven
- 1:16Speaker 3: year old found it and they were like playing with it.
- 1:18Speaker 3: He's like, can we use it for our game? Like, no,
- 1:20Speaker 3: put it back.
- 1:21Speaker 2: After our first season, I got everybody gold whistles. Yeah,
- 1:23Speaker 2: those are like four hundred bucks.
- 1:24Speaker 3: Each, I know, and I like, put that back in
- 1:26Speaker 3: the box.
- 1:27Speaker 2: Shit.
- 1:28Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:28Speaker 2: Yeah. A couple things. One those Netflix fights were awful,
- 1:34Speaker 2: so bad, dude. And I'm not a UFC guy, or
- 1:37Speaker 2: I should say, MMA guy. I'm very much a casual
- 1:40Speaker 2: MMA guy, but you're like the guy.
- 1:42Speaker 3: I love UFC. I love MMA, bare knupple fighting, all
- 1:46Speaker 3: of it.
- 1:46Speaker 1: Dude.
- 1:47Speaker 3: This one I got suckered into it. I don't even
- 1:48Speaker 3: know why I watched. It was free though, I get it.
- 1:51Speaker 3: But there was also a UFC Fight Night going on
- 1:53Speaker 3: on whatever paramount, whatever it's on, and so I watched
- 1:57Speaker 3: all of that and I was like, Okay, it's perfect timing.
- 1:59Speaker 3: It's gonna by the time that one ends, it's gonna
- 2:01Speaker 3: be time for the Nate Didas fight. And it was
- 2:03Speaker 3: perfect timing to watch Nate Diaz just beat just get
- 2:06Speaker 3: his butt kicked.
- 2:07Speaker 2: I sawly made half a million dollars because they released
- 2:09Speaker 2: how much money everybody made from the fights. I think
- 2:11Speaker 2: he was the third highest paid. I think it was
- 2:14Speaker 2: Rousey Kurano. I think Nadiaz was third.
- 2:17Speaker 3: So no matter what happens, he gets paid that money.
- 2:19Speaker 2: Yeah, but boxers are like that too.
- 2:20Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, that's not UFC.
- 2:23Speaker 2: I'm not sure how UFC works. Again, I'm such a casual.
- 2:26Speaker 3: UFC is a win basis, Like you get paid on
- 2:30Speaker 3: how much you get paid is based on if you
- 2:32Speaker 3: win or not. Plus you get bonuses for knockouts.
- 2:34Speaker 2: But that's only for like the mid card guys, right, Like,
- 2:36Speaker 2: I think the guys or girls that are in the
- 2:39Speaker 2: main events are getting a set amount, plus if you
- 2:42Speaker 2: can negotiate it, you also get when it was pay
- 2:44Speaker 2: per view time, like a percentage of the pay per view.
- 2:46Speaker 3: Its interesting.
- 2:46Speaker 2: I don't think those people are fighting for less than
- 2:48Speaker 2: a guaranteed X millions of dollars. Okay, but I can
- 2:51Speaker 2: understand some of the mid and low tier guys with
- 2:53Speaker 2: that being the case.
- 2:54Speaker 3: And what's the whole exclusivity to UFC though, like Nate
- 2:58Speaker 3: Diaz maybe is done with a U, so is his
- 3:00Speaker 3: contract free now he can do something like this because
- 3:02Speaker 3: I don't know what league this was at the MVP
- 3:05Speaker 3: under MVP.
- 3:06Speaker 2: Is Jake Paul right, but it was his promotion.
- 3:09Speaker 3: So these guys can just fight now. Like Nadia isn't
- 3:13Speaker 3: part of the UFC anymore.
- 3:14Speaker 2: He wouldn't be able to fight for MVP if heise UFC.
- 3:17Speaker 3: But then some of these refs they're UFC refs, maybe
- 3:20Speaker 3: they're Universal refs. I don't know, but it was It's
- 3:23Speaker 3: weird to me to see like all these different like
- 3:25Speaker 3: PFL is a different MMA league, UFC different MMA league,
- 3:29Speaker 3: now MVP. It's funny to see like everybody that's intertwined
- 3:32Speaker 3: in all these some of the same refs.
- 3:35Speaker 2: If you're a fighter, UFC is the organization that if
- 3:41Speaker 2: you're contractually obligated to you can't fight outside of it.
- 3:43Speaker 3: Got it.
- 3:44Speaker 2: I'm not sure if the Union the referee Union, I
- 3:46Speaker 2: don't know the rules, okay, but yeah, I don't know, dude.
- 3:49Speaker 3: I just thought it's kind of sock dude, Nadia is like,
- 3:52Speaker 3: I feel like that was just a paycheck. I don't
- 3:54Speaker 3: think he felt like it was just a paycheck. I
- 3:56Speaker 3: don't think he was ready for that fight. I don't
- 3:57Speaker 3: think he prepared for that fight. Uh dominant though. And
- 4:00Speaker 3: what sucks about him though, is that even if he
- 4:03Speaker 3: does fight a good fight, he looks like he loses
- 4:06Speaker 3: every time because his face bleeds because of all this
- 4:08Speaker 3: scar tissue that he has from fighting for so long,
- 4:11Speaker 3: that one good punch just makes his face look like
- 4:13Speaker 3: he got his butt kicked.
- 4:14Speaker 2: For me, the main event was the Ronda Rowsey Gina
- 4:18Speaker 2: Carano fight, and she hadn't fought in the decade or
- 4:22Speaker 2: maybe seventeen years. Yeah, and Rowsey hadn't fought, and so
- 4:25Speaker 2: it was cool because they were both famous. Yeah, and
- 4:27Speaker 2: it lasted seventeen seconds.
- 4:29Speaker 3: It's crazy an Armbard done tap out.
- 4:31Speaker 4: The only thing I saw instantly was it was rigged.
- 4:33Speaker 4: Did you see all that the videos of them doing
- 4:36Speaker 4: like sparring before the fight and saying that they were
- 4:38Speaker 4: going over the plot and what was going to happen.
- 4:41Speaker 2: If it were rigged, No chance that ends in seventeen seconds.
- 4:43Speaker 2: If it were rigged. It's like a mid late first rounder.
- 4:46Speaker 2: We got to make this seem legit the people that
- 4:49Speaker 2: were saying that, because I saw it too. I roll
- 4:52Speaker 2: emoji because if you're going to rig something, you at
- 4:54Speaker 2: least want it to look like it's not rigged.
- 4:56Speaker 3: And what are they talking about? Practicing the move?
- 4:59Speaker 4: So when there was another fight going on the broadcast,
- 5:02Speaker 4: like panned in on Ronda, you know, warming up in
- 5:05Speaker 4: her loss room, stuff like that, and then it looked
- 5:07Speaker 4: like she did exactly how the fight.
- 5:08Speaker 3: Was h which is she was rehearsing what she was
- 5:10Speaker 3: gonna do. Yeah, of course they do it all the time,
- 5:12Speaker 3: Like they show the room they're practicing their grappling moves,
- 5:15Speaker 3: so I wouldn't doubt she was actually practicing that move
- 5:18Speaker 3: and it works.
- 5:19Speaker 2: Well, that's also her move, Yeah, that's her.
- 5:20Speaker 3: That's Rona Rousey's signature move.
- 5:22Speaker 2: Right. Yeah, if you're gonna rig something, you don't have
- 5:24Speaker 2: it in in seventeen seconds. You gotta make it last
- 5:26Speaker 2: a little bit, right.
- 5:27Speaker 3: Did you see all the faces in the crowd just
- 5:29Speaker 3: like what like.
- 5:30Speaker 2: But also like they are in shape, like Gina Carana
- 5:33Speaker 2: was not ready to fight. No, she again, I had
- 5:35Speaker 2: been I'm just picking out a number. I feel like
- 5:38Speaker 2: they said it'd have been like seventeen years since she fought,
- 5:41Speaker 2: and good for them they got people to care about it.
- 5:43Speaker 2: But it was a, from my perspective, a poorly run night,
- 5:47Speaker 2: and I'm not sure why because I don't know enough
- 5:49Speaker 2: about it. The fights were all first round knockouts. The
- 5:52Speaker 2: big fight lasted seventeen seconds. Maybe it was one of
- 5:55Speaker 2: many and they get better from here, but I don't
- 5:57Speaker 2: want to spend that much time on it, but I did.
- 5:58Speaker 2: I was very underwhelmed. Two thousand and nine was their
- 6:01Speaker 2: last fight. Ronda's no seventeen years yeah right, yeah, yeah,
- 6:06Speaker 2: something else in sports that people a mass amount of
- 6:11Speaker 2: people aren't super dedicated to. But I thought the headline
- 6:13Speaker 2: was so interesting. Obviously, I'm watching a lot of college
- 6:16Speaker 2: softball because Arkansas is good, and my brother in law'st
- 6:19Speaker 2: the assistant head coach Texas Tech was playing in a game.
- 6:25Speaker 2: They were playing Ole Miss in softball. They have seven innings,
- 6:28Speaker 2: so bottom of the seventh, Texas Tech is up. They're
- 6:31Speaker 2: down eight zero. Okay, so they're the home team. Finally bat,
- 6:35Speaker 2: they're down eight zero. They get out number one, done,
- 6:38Speaker 2: they get out number two. They're one out. A way
- 6:41Speaker 2: from losing eight zero. They get it hit, they get
- 6:43Speaker 2: it hit, they get it hit some runs, grand slam.
- 6:47Speaker 2: They scored eight runs with two outs in the bottom
- 6:51Speaker 2: of the last inning. No, and then they end up
- 6:53Speaker 2: winning in extra innings.
- 6:54Speaker 1: No.
- 6:55Speaker 2: So the stat was this century, teams were zero and
- 6:59Speaker 2: six hundred forty when trailing by eight plus runs in
- 7:03Speaker 2: an NCAA softball tournament game. It's now one in six
- 7:06Speaker 2: hundred and forty. Texas Tech was down eight runs with
- 7:09Speaker 2: one out left. They just dk tink hit hit. They
- 7:13Speaker 2: were down four, and the girl had a grand Slam.
- 7:16Speaker 2: I didn't watch the whole inning. I turned it on
- 7:17Speaker 2: because I kept seeing the scores go up, and I said,
- 7:19Speaker 2: let me check. I couldn't believe it. That's cool, like
- 7:21Speaker 2: regardless if you're into baseball. Softball, to be down eight
- 7:24Speaker 2: runs in just the last inning and to come back
- 7:25Speaker 2: and win, it's crazy itself. But to have two outs
- 7:28Speaker 2: the girl those pitching for all mess like one hundred
- 7:30Speaker 2: and fifty pitches to that game, and they didn't take
- 7:31Speaker 2: her out. She was in there the whole time. They
- 7:33Speaker 2: never took her.
- 7:34Speaker 3: Oh my gosh, that could be part of it.
- 7:38Speaker 2: I've never seen anything like that before I understand why
- 7:41Speaker 2: she starts the inning she shut them down through six.
- 7:44Speaker 3: Yeah, I get it. But and then grand slam, well,
- 7:46Speaker 3: grand slam.
- 7:47Speaker 2: It's eight eight, It's okay. It's like, all right, let's
- 7:50Speaker 2: get her out of here, let's close this thing out.
- 7:52Speaker 2: They needed one out. That's a wild thing I've ever seen.
- 7:56Speaker 3: That's pretty wild.
- 7:57Speaker 1: That.
- 7:58Speaker 3: The only thing I think of there is making a
- 7:59Speaker 3: bed on that and being like, got this one and
- 8:01Speaker 3: then going.
- 8:01Speaker 2: Back and I know, did you guys see the Matthew
- 8:04Speaker 2: McConaughey story. Nope, Okay, I've met him maybe twice.
- 8:11Speaker 3: Odd dude, right, odd guy, I've met him a few times. Yeah,
- 8:15Speaker 3: always odd experience.
- 8:16Speaker 2: Hey, odd, how like awkwardly social? Or what do you
- 8:19Speaker 2: mean awkwardly social? Like? Is he just not very like?
- 8:23Speaker 3: No, he's like you just think he is, Well, what
- 8:24Speaker 3: do you expect him to be?
- 8:27Speaker 2: His characters like, hey man, what's up?
- 8:29Speaker 3: That's what he's like.
- 8:30Speaker 2: Okay, okay, that's what.
- 8:31Speaker 3: That's exactly what he's like.
- 8:32Speaker 2: Yeah, Like a point in his favor is he's exactly
- 8:35Speaker 2: what he is, showing you that he's exactly like, which
- 8:38Speaker 2: isn't always the case, but sometimes I roll my eyes
- 8:42Speaker 2: at him because the story came out that he did
- 8:46Speaker 2: not adjust well to fame. So he moved to Peru
- 8:49Speaker 2: and lived for twenty two days without electricity and went
- 8:51Speaker 2: by Mateo.
- 8:52Speaker 3: I love it that that was in his book, his book. Yeah,
- 8:57Speaker 3: I love this dude.
- 9:01Speaker 2: From Variety, Matthew McConaughey once fled the country to live
- 9:05Speaker 2: amongst people who didn't know who he was and to
- 9:07Speaker 2: get his feedback on the ground.
- 9:08Speaker 3: And I've told you the story of where he fought
- 9:10Speaker 3: the village.
- 9:11Speaker 2: Just the same Mateo time.
- 9:12Speaker 3: Yes, the village giant, right, who had been who had
- 9:16Speaker 3: beat everyone that's come through that village, And so matt
- 9:19Speaker 3: goes in there. He's like, I want to fight him,
- 9:21Speaker 3: and Matt fights him. You have to read the book
- 9:24Speaker 3: to find out what happened.
- 9:25Speaker 2: Again, I always told the book wasn't all true.
- 9:27Speaker 4: Yeah, there's definitely some fabrications to him like that at.
- 9:33Speaker 2: The twenty two days, the tears in their eyes and
- 9:35Speaker 2: the tears in my eyes, and the hugs we had
- 9:38Speaker 2: and the sadness and happiness is saying goodbye. We're all
- 9:41Speaker 2: based off the man they met named Mateo, who had
- 9:44Speaker 2: nothing to do with the celebrity. He reaffirmed my own
- 9:47Speaker 2: identity that I still got it. This is based on me.
- 9:51Speaker 3: You know what's funny too. A little fun fact about
- 9:53Speaker 3: that about that time period is he was feeling like
- 9:56Speaker 3: a lot of that right, Hollywood was kind of taken
- 9:58Speaker 3: over his life. So to get grounded again, him and
- 10:02Speaker 3: the guy that plays Rip in Yellowstone, Colhauser Cole Hauser
- 10:06Speaker 3: and one of the other guys from Days of Confused
- 10:09Speaker 3: went like on a European bike ride.
- 10:11Speaker 2: It would just be cool to have that much time
- 10:12Speaker 2: and money. Because when I hear this, I don't think
- 10:16Speaker 2: that's crazy. I think you didn't have a job. And
- 10:19Speaker 2: if you don't have a job, how did you have
- 10:20Speaker 2: that money to do that? Because it had been fun
- 10:22Speaker 2: to be able to do that in my twenties and thirties,
- 10:24Speaker 2: that'd have been awesome. I didn't have the time or
- 10:26Speaker 2: the money, right And if I had the money, I
- 10:28Speaker 2: definitely didn't have the time. And if I had the time,
- 10:31Speaker 2: that meant I didn't have the money because I was working.
- 10:34Speaker 2: So when I hear stories like that, I'm so even
- 10:36Speaker 2: jealous because that meant they were free, they made a
- 10:40Speaker 2: little money, and they were like screw it. We don't
- 10:41Speaker 2: have a nine to five.
- 10:42Speaker 3: Let's go for three weeks and go ride a motorcycles.
- 10:44Speaker 2: For three months. Who cares? Acting yep, yeah, so I
- 10:50Speaker 2: don't hear crazy. I hear that would be awesome. And
- 10:53Speaker 2: then I get jealous because my job was something I
- 10:55Speaker 2: had to commit to like anybody else does with the
- 10:57Speaker 2: normal job, Like when do we ever get a month
- 11:00Speaker 2: in our whole why to go do it? To go
- 11:02Speaker 2: do something? And then you need to be an adult
- 11:04Speaker 2: with kids, and well that's like, yeah, we do.
- 11:11Speaker 3: What's your like when you met him? What was what happened?
- 11:15Speaker 2: He didn't smell very.
- 11:16Speaker 3: Good yeah body or bio, but he was he was nice.
- 11:20Speaker 2: I could see him being a guy that doesn't wear
- 11:22Speaker 2: He doesn't wear I.
- 11:23Speaker 3: Don't even know if that's a current thing, like not sure,
- 11:25Speaker 3: but back then when we met him, yes, it was
- 11:28Speaker 3: a known thing that he didn't wear deod around.
- 11:30Speaker 2: He was living in a trailer for some movie he
- 11:32Speaker 2: had called Sahara. I think that movie. I remember that. Yeah,
- 11:36Speaker 2: he's doing promo for that. Again, he was a nice guy, odd,
- 11:41Speaker 2: but it was just like you would think he would
- 11:42Speaker 2: be whenever you see him on TV going I would
- 11:44Speaker 2: like to thank my hero me in the past, and
- 11:47Speaker 2: you're like, wait what or whatever.
- 11:49Speaker 3: He said, Yeah, I saw him in a concert and
- 11:51Speaker 3: he was like wow, standing right over there, and like,
- 11:53Speaker 3: let me see if I get a picture with him.
- 11:55Speaker 3: And I went up while the concert was going. He's
- 11:57Speaker 3: there with a buddy I said, hey, mat can I
- 11:58Speaker 3: get a picture. He's like right now, buddy man, not right.
- 12:01Speaker 2: Now really because he knew it.
- 12:04Speaker 3: Yeah, And I was like, respectfully, dude, got it. Well,
- 12:07Speaker 3: he didn't call you buddy man, buddy man.
- 12:10Speaker 2: I've never heard buddy man before.
- 12:11Speaker 3: It was just like it was such a Mathew McConaughey thing,
- 12:14Speaker 3: Like he sounded just like him right that. Have you
- 12:18Speaker 3: seen that video where these girls are leaving a Texas
- 12:22Speaker 3: game and he's right behind him in his pickup. He's
- 12:24Speaker 3: right next to him in the pickup truck and then
- 12:26Speaker 3: goes like, oh my gosh, there's Mathew McConaughey's she seems
- 12:28Speaker 3: in and he's just driving the truck like they're stuck
- 12:30Speaker 3: in traffic, and he's looking forward and then he realizes
- 12:32Speaker 3: somebody's looking at him, and he looks like like like
- 12:34Speaker 3: what are you looking at me? And then just waves
- 12:37Speaker 3: at him and then just keeps looking forward again. So funny, dude,
- 12:40Speaker 3: He's like a he's a character, like and that's just
- 12:44Speaker 3: how he is in real life.
- 12:45Speaker 2: I would think he's playing a character off screen, except
- 12:49Speaker 2: for I think I met him twice and he was
- 12:50Speaker 2: the same type of person, which is cool. Yeah, yeah,
- 12:53Speaker 2: I agree, it's cool. I just don't believe his story
- 12:56Speaker 2: is when he was a giant and then comes back
- 13:01Speaker 2: as a new man. It's crazy because Eddie doesn't read books,
- 13:03Speaker 2: and he read that book.
- 13:04Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 13:04Speaker 2: Correct, It's not even McConaughey fighting the town giant. It's
- 13:08Speaker 2: Eddie reading a book.
- 13:09Speaker 3: But you know what's crazier too, is my mother in
- 13:11Speaker 3: law gives me a book every Christmas. I don't read
- 13:14Speaker 3: any of them. That's the only one I've read.
- 13:16Speaker 2: She gave you that one? Yeah, oh nice, Okay, it
- 13:18Speaker 2: is a good one.
- 13:19Speaker 3: Like you think she would learn, like, Eddie's not going
- 13:20Speaker 3: to read this book.
- 13:21Speaker 2: Do you tell her you don't read this? Okay? Then
- 13:23Speaker 2: she might she might think you like to read this?
- 13:25Speaker 2: They ever ask you, like, she.
- 13:26Speaker 3: Never follows up either, like did you read that book?
- 13:32Speaker 2: It's going to rain every day this week?
- 13:33Speaker 3: I heard I wanted to play golf.
- 13:38Speaker 2: I don't even know what I'm doing. I gotta we
- 13:40Speaker 2: got to play golf in that big event.
- 13:41Speaker 3: I know, Hey, we got to get better with a bunch.
- 13:45Speaker 2: Of clients, and I'm just terrible. I've not played golf
- 13:49Speaker 2: since we played our tournament July last year. Oh, our tournament,
- 13:52Speaker 2: Yeah me versus you. I still think about that tournament
- 13:55Speaker 2: a lot. We played a three day tournament just Eddie
- 13:58Speaker 2: versus myself to see the better golfers, and I won.
- 14:00Speaker 2: I got the trophy and office. Still, what do you
- 14:01Speaker 2: play again this year?
- 14:02Speaker 3: It's funny. I would love to, because it's funny when
- 14:04Speaker 3: like I watched the majors, I think about us. You know,
- 14:07Speaker 3: whenever I see like a golfer, when I see a
- 14:10Speaker 3: golfer come back, I can think of like that totally
- 14:14Speaker 3: could have been me, Like I should have come back
- 14:15Speaker 3: and wont that.
- 14:16Speaker 2: You shouldn't know, and you didn't. I got close water
- 14:19Speaker 2: water water, Eddie started to be rude.
- 14:22Speaker 4: Water.
- 14:24Speaker 2: So we got to do that, and then I got invited.
- 14:27Speaker 2: I tell you to go out and do the pebble.
- 14:29Speaker 3: Oh yeah, yeah, yeah yeah. Did you talk about it here?
- 14:32Speaker 2: I talked about a student. Don't know I do eleven podcasts.
- 14:34Speaker 3: I don't know where I say correct, so I'm I'm cattying,
- 14:37Speaker 3: though I don't.
- 14:38Speaker 2: I don't think so I think as of right now,
- 14:42Speaker 2: as of right now, because if we go, I'm gonna
- 14:44Speaker 2: have to get a house.
- 14:44Speaker 3: Yeah, perfect, and my wife and child.
- 14:46Speaker 2: Are going to go, Oh that's not good, and she's
- 14:48Speaker 2: gonna need help, and so her grandparents are probably gonna
- 14:50Speaker 2: come baby baby, I can help. So I invited my
- 14:57Speaker 2: father in law. He's never played pebble, and I was like,
- 15:00Speaker 2: you can go play pebble.
- 15:00Speaker 3: I have to go.
- 15:01Speaker 2: I'm going to speak to a bunch of kids too,
- 15:03Speaker 2: And so that's the real reason you're going on. No. No,
- 15:09Speaker 2: there's a senior tournament and they do a big they
- 15:13Speaker 2: bring out celebrities.
- 15:15Speaker 3: It's weird, dude, you're a celebrity.
- 15:17Speaker 2: I hear you. Whatever you think, I don't. I literally
- 15:20Speaker 2: don't feel that way. But so they do that. But
- 15:22Speaker 2: they want me to come out like a day before
- 15:23Speaker 2: and talk to these kids. So they're like, you come
- 15:26Speaker 2: out and you can play. What's the real there's a
- 15:30Speaker 2: course that it's a real fancy club at pebble. No,
- 15:34Speaker 2: it's not pebble because I've already played pebble. But they
- 15:36Speaker 2: were like, when you talk to these kids, if your
- 15:37Speaker 2: father in law wants play pebble, can go on and play, like,
- 15:39Speaker 2: no problem, the course will be empty. And then are.
- 15:43Speaker 3: You talking about a course there?
- 15:44Speaker 2: Yeah, the Spyglass Okay, that's where peninsula the tournament's and
- 15:48Speaker 2: Mony Peninsula a freaking great course, dude, it's amazing, amazing.
- 15:52Speaker 2: There's another one though, that's a private club spig we
- 15:55Speaker 2: say spigs. Yeah, it's not one of those that is
- 15:58Speaker 2: so hard to get on. And they're like, you should
- 16:00Speaker 2: come out and play that, but I have to go.
- 16:02Speaker 2: I'm gonna go, but your second round.
- 16:04Speaker 3: Pick that's fine. You know what, we need.
- 16:06Speaker 2: Childcare to come with us. And that's why we their
- 16:08Speaker 2: grandparents would want to come.
- 16:09Speaker 3: When you said your your father in law, it's like
- 16:12Speaker 3: I surrender to that, like let him do it. He
- 16:15Speaker 3: would love that.
- 16:16Speaker 2: Preserve No, but it's something like that. Tahama no cypress
- 16:20Speaker 2: point press. Yeah.
- 16:23Speaker 3: Whenever they play the tournament, you can see CP next
- 16:25Speaker 3: to a player.
- 16:25Speaker 2: What does it say the dues are Let's see, like
- 16:28Speaker 2: if you look up, it's not even dues. It's always
- 16:30Speaker 2: the entry fee that gets you like the entry fee
- 16:34Speaker 2: it to be a member? Yeah, yeah, because apparently it's
- 16:38Speaker 2: pretty tough.
- 16:39Speaker 3: Say two hundred and fifty thousand dollars that's entry fee,
- 16:42Speaker 3: the initial fee.
- 16:45Speaker 2: And then what are the dudes to say?
- 16:47Speaker 3: I didn't say the dudes and the dues would be
- 16:49Speaker 3: your yearly it's three fifty five hundred round. Well back
- 16:54Speaker 3: it up, okay. So to be part of a member,
- 16:56Speaker 3: because obviously I'm not a member at a club, you
- 17:00Speaker 3: have to pay an entry fee, which is usually expensive,
- 17:04Speaker 3: like for this in this case, two hundred fifty thousand dollars. Right,
- 17:07Speaker 3: then you pay a monthly fee to be a member
- 17:10Speaker 3: on top of the entry fee.
- 17:11Speaker 2: I'll just tell you how it works where I go.
- 17:13Speaker 2: So I had to pay like cause mine's nothing like this,
- 17:15Speaker 2: but I had to pay like fifty grand. And it
- 17:17Speaker 2: also floats right when the club it's like dynamic pricing.
- 17:21Speaker 2: When they can't take really any more members, the feed
- 17:23Speaker 2: goes up. So if they have like ten member spots
- 17:26Speaker 2: left and that's it, the feed go in.
- 17:29Speaker 3: If a bunch of leave or die.
- 17:31Speaker 2: In the or they've like made the club bigger, or
- 17:34Speaker 2: they bad at a second course, who knows, so dynamic
- 17:37Speaker 2: pricing sort of. When I got in, I think it
- 17:43Speaker 2: was during COVID, so that was low price. No, I
- 17:46Speaker 2: think everybody was trying to get in. Yeah you can.
- 17:48Speaker 2: It was outdoors, yeah, so I think you can do. Yeah.
- 17:51Speaker 2: The entry feed in my club was like fifty grand
- 17:54Speaker 2: I don't know what it is now.
- 17:56Speaker 3: And then that's a one time entry fee for the
- 17:59Speaker 3: entry fee. Got it.
- 18:00Speaker 2: And then we have to pay like twenty a month.
- 18:07Speaker 3: Just to be a member yep.
- 18:09Speaker 2: And then we have to spend because you automatically get
- 18:12Speaker 2: charged like two hundred fifty bucks a month for food.
- 18:15Speaker 2: Now you go and you use it, you'll spend it
- 18:17Speaker 2: in it it's credit No, So this is crazy. It's
- 18:23Speaker 2: like two hundred and fifty bucks a month. And if
- 18:26Speaker 2: you go, you get two hundred and fifty eight because
- 18:28Speaker 2: they're going to charge you for two fifty anyway. Okay, okay,
- 18:31Speaker 2: So you get your pay two to fifty bucks a
- 18:32Speaker 2: month for food. Yeah, and if you don't use it,
- 18:35Speaker 2: they just charge you anyway.
- 18:36Speaker 3: Okay, got it, so go use it? Yeah okay, and
- 18:39Speaker 3: then golf you pay separately for that.
- 18:40Speaker 2: No, if you bring a member, like every time I
- 18:42Speaker 2: bring you, I have to pay one hundred fifty bucks really,
- 18:45Speaker 2: but if you're covered, yeah through my monthly fee and
- 18:49Speaker 2: my okay, got it. Yeah, but if I bring a guest,
- 18:53Speaker 2: that's a fee every time. So when Mike says like
- 18:54Speaker 2: three hundred fifty whatever it is, that's if you a
- 18:56Speaker 2: member and you bring a guest, that's what it costs.
- 18:58Speaker 2: Can you go there just to eat? Yeah, okay, just
- 19:00Speaker 2: making sure not only that, and we don't use all
- 19:03Speaker 2: the parts of our club, but there's a pools doesn't
- 19:08Speaker 2: have tennis, it doesn't.
- 19:12Speaker 3: I just mean, I don't know. I can't think of
- 19:15Speaker 3: a scenario where, like I mean, I like to play
- 19:17Speaker 3: golf by myself, so that that that's sounds fun. I
- 19:20Speaker 3: guess like if it's that's just a lot of money, dude.
- 19:23Speaker 2: But if you have the money out of you do it.
- 19:24Speaker 2: You love golf, and it's I'm not fighting for because
- 19:27Speaker 2: there's a lot of money and I haven't buy golf
- 19:29Speaker 2: in almost a year with my ankle and then baby,
- 19:31Speaker 2: so it's like just pissing away money. Yeah, But it's
- 19:35Speaker 2: also the ability to kind of get on whenever you
- 19:37Speaker 2: want up to a point and you just book do
- 19:39Speaker 2: an app and everybody knows you and you have a locker.
- 19:42Speaker 2: I mean, it's just also community, but I don't do
- 19:44Speaker 2: the community stuff.
- 19:45Speaker 3: Really.
- 19:45Speaker 4: Yeah, that doesn't say a lot of those guys are
- 19:47Speaker 4: like friends and this is like a social thing for them, right.
- 19:50Speaker 2: Like I joined that club because it was close, That's
- 19:52Speaker 2: really the only reason. But we have a bunch of
- 19:54Speaker 2: friends that are like other clubs, and they always go
- 19:56Speaker 2: and hang out and stuff, and we're just kind of like,
- 19:58Speaker 2: we don't go there. But life doesn't go up there
- 20:00Speaker 2: at all anyway. She's just like she's nothing. She doesn't
- 20:02Speaker 2: go out there at all.
- 20:03Speaker 3: If she wants to play golf, she's covered, right, She's
- 20:04Speaker 3: part of the family. So if she wants to play golf,
- 20:06Speaker 3: that's covered. Okay.
- 20:08Speaker 2: Is there an age range, it's anybody in the family, okay,
- 20:11Speaker 2: like like a six year old kid, or you can
- 20:13Speaker 2: bring them on there, like your boy girl. Yeah. Yeah,
- 20:16Speaker 2: it's family with the family family package.
- 20:18Speaker 3: So I can't be like an uncle.
- 20:21Speaker 2: Only uncle's covered. Immediate family.
- 20:24Speaker 3: Okay.
- 20:25Speaker 2: There are some courses in town, like what is the
- 20:30Speaker 2: name of that course?
- 20:31Speaker 3: Troubadour?
- 20:32Speaker 2: Thank you that it's not really a dues, it's not
- 20:36Speaker 2: really an entry fee. You have to have property oh,
- 20:38Speaker 2: so you live on you got to buy like a
- 20:40Speaker 2: two three four million dollar patch of property and then
- 20:43Speaker 2: you're a member there. There may be a little do
- 20:45Speaker 2: issue too, but there's no entry fee.
- 20:47Speaker 3: And then don't they have to accept you? Like do
- 20:49Speaker 3: you gotta?
- 20:50Speaker 2: If you have property? I think you're in unless for
- 20:53Speaker 2: some reason they demand you not be in, which I'm
- 20:57Speaker 2: sure those are out there.
- 20:59Speaker 3: But that's a different that's a whole different level.
- 21:01Speaker 4: My neighbor told me the other day's father in law
- 21:03Speaker 4: is a troubadour, remember, and he's like, anytime you want
- 21:05Speaker 4: to go, let me know.
- 21:05Speaker 2: And I'm like, that plays awesome, it's pretty great fun.
- 21:08Speaker 2: You don't have to wear a collared shirt, wear no shirt.
- 21:11Speaker 2: You don't have wore any shoes.
- 21:12Speaker 3: No, that's not true. You can't go there no shirt.
- 21:15Speaker 3: Jeane cut offs and I.
- 21:17Speaker 2: Have played it a bunch, and nor have I. I've
- 21:19Speaker 2: not seen anyone's shirtless, but I'm you can't wear gene cutoffs. Really,
- 21:23Speaker 2: you can wear a T shirt.
- 21:24Speaker 3: You can do whatever you want. That's awesome.
- 21:25Speaker 2: That's is it justin Thomas? He designed it right, he
- 21:27Speaker 2: lives out there.
- 21:28Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 21:28Speaker 2: I don't know if he designed it, but I've played
- 21:30Speaker 2: played ten times out there. It's just a long drive.
- 21:33Speaker 2: Did you look for all the hidden and alcohol. No,
- 21:36Speaker 2: that's what everybody knows. Everybody knows what it is. Those
- 21:38Speaker 2: their shacks of their food is really great and those
- 21:41Speaker 2: properties because it's a company. And I've played a few
- 21:44Speaker 2: of them around the country. Because the one in Austin
- 21:46Speaker 2: that we played the same properft Wood. Yeah, and I've
- 21:49Speaker 2: played one and like the Bahamas in their own it's
- 21:52Speaker 2: the same ownership.
- 21:53Speaker 3: But if you remember one your brother, that's cool, that's awesome. Yeah,
- 21:57Speaker 3: that's like the deal my kids have with their off pass.
- 22:01Speaker 3: All the city courses all over the country, they're covered
- 22:04Speaker 3: exactly the same as Tribute, the same network, So we
- 22:09Speaker 3: can be in Cincinnati, were like, give me your public course.
- 22:13Speaker 2: I think I think you'd be someone who would like
- 22:15Speaker 2: to be a member of a club because of the
- 22:16Speaker 2: social part.
- 22:16Speaker 3: Though, dude, you kidding me. I don't want to hang
- 22:19Speaker 3: out with people.
- 22:20Speaker 2: You do like to hang out with people. You're a
- 22:21Speaker 2: people person, but I don't know you'd find other dads
- 22:24Speaker 2: go golfing by yourself.
- 22:26Speaker 3: Think at the small talk.
- 22:27Speaker 2: Yeah, dude, you love small talk. You go up for
- 22:29Speaker 2: the events. They have events all the time. You do
- 22:30Speaker 2: it for the events.
- 22:31Speaker 3: But lately, I don't know, dude. Lately, I've been in
- 22:33Speaker 3: this small talk thing where like there's a limit two
- 22:36Speaker 3: minutes small talk and then I'm like gotta go.
- 22:39Speaker 2: Yeah, but you'd find friends that you played golf with.
- 22:41Speaker 2: Then up there, You're.
- 22:42Speaker 3: Right because every time we're I'm at your club, I
- 22:43Speaker 3: see other dads.
- 22:44Speaker 2: And he like see people he knows every time we play.
- 22:47Speaker 2: It's literally how we do every time I sell my
- 22:49Speaker 2: basketball practice last week.
- 22:51Speaker 3: That's true. That's true.
- 22:51Speaker 2: Hey, speaking of golf, I didn't know the guy who
- 22:53Speaker 2: won the PGA Aaron. Yeah, and I'm more than a casual.
- 22:57Speaker 2: I'm not a super, but I'm I'm a mid and
- 23:00Speaker 2: I didn't know the guy.
- 23:00Speaker 3: He's a dude that's just been around. But no, doesn't
- 23:03Speaker 3: really win a lot.
- 23:04Speaker 2: British dude. What I learned about him is that he
- 23:07Speaker 2: wears two gloves and.
- 23:08Speaker 3: He I didn't know that. Okay, I didn't even notice
- 23:12Speaker 3: he did that.
- 23:12Speaker 2: So he starts winning and they got to tell stories
- 23:15Speaker 2: about him because nobody knows who he is, so humble
- 23:19Speaker 2: background would wear two gloves. He's from the UK, so
- 23:24Speaker 2: whatever part whatever country that he's from in the UK,
- 23:26Speaker 2: maybe Inglis to England could be Scotland. For the sake
- 23:28Speaker 2: of it. He wore two gloves because it was cold
- 23:31Speaker 2: when he already played. Oh really, so it keep his
- 23:33Speaker 2: hands warm. And his dad he keeps iron covers on
- 23:37Speaker 2: all the time. His dad, they didn't grow up with
- 23:39Speaker 2: a lot of money, so when they could afford a set,
- 23:42Speaker 2: and his dad like extended himself hard to buy him
- 23:44Speaker 2: a nice set. His dad would clean the clubs after
- 23:46Speaker 2: every round, so he put iron covers on it.
- 23:48Speaker 3: Wow, And they also said that he is the nicest
- 23:51Speaker 3: guy on tour. Nobody will argue that, well, there you
- 23:55Speaker 3: have it. Then it's a lot of pressure.
- 23:56Speaker 2: He got my vote. They'll say they hit some dig
- 24:00Speaker 2: for that one. You're right, you're right.
- 24:01Speaker 3: Like so when someone that nobody knows is winning, like,
- 24:04Speaker 3: where do they get all those stories from? Are they
- 24:06Speaker 3: just like, dude, dig dig dig.
- 24:07Speaker 2: I'm sure they have PA's that first of all, probably
- 24:11Speaker 2: have a little bit on everybody. But day one it's
- 24:14Speaker 2: mostly the big guys because that's who all who they're following.
- 24:17Speaker 3: Yeah, but once.
- 24:18Speaker 2: It gets to day two, day three, they're they're probably
- 24:20Speaker 2: doing deeper research on all the folks that could have
- 24:24Speaker 2: a chance, because I bet you the folks that get
- 24:26Speaker 2: cut and you don't know, they never even have bios
- 24:28Speaker 2: written abound, Yeah, or at least not extensive things that
- 24:30Speaker 2: the announcers would have to know. But going into day three,
- 24:32Speaker 2: if everybody probably has something on them, especially in the
- 24:36Speaker 2: top half, because they could be in contention.
- 24:37Speaker 3: Yeah, and that round four you had a bunch of
- 24:40Speaker 3: no namers smally and this German guy like that. Yeah,
- 24:45Speaker 3: I had never seen before. But would you rather have
- 24:48Speaker 3: a no namer win kind of cool or one of
- 24:51Speaker 3: the bigger guys win.
- 24:55Speaker 2: That's tough because like the underdog in me likes to
- 24:57Speaker 2: see the underdogs win. Yeah, but it's the big guys
- 25:01Speaker 2: who bring the ratings. Like, if I'm a network, I
- 25:04Speaker 2: need the shufflers, I want the speeds, I want the names,
- 25:06Speaker 2: the rories, the names that people know to win because
- 25:10Speaker 2: that's what keep eyeballs.
- 25:11Speaker 3: Yep.
- 25:12Speaker 2: But like, as a dude, they're just going to read
- 25:15Speaker 2: a headline. It's fun to see those guys win, yeah,
- 25:18Speaker 2: but it's not good for the game that underdogs win.
- 25:21Speaker 3: I agree, man. And there was one hundred and fifty
- 25:25Speaker 3: players like there was maybe more, maybe one seventy. I
- 25:29Speaker 3: didn't realize, but that's got to be the most out
- 25:31Speaker 3: of all the majors. One hundred and seventy players to
- 25:33Speaker 3: start a tournaments a lot.
- 25:34Speaker 2: It's like the Bucks win in the NBA Championship the finals,
- 25:37Speaker 2: like it's a small market team nobody really cares about. Yeah, cool,
- 25:40Speaker 2: it's a good story, but it's like, uh, you'd rather
- 25:42Speaker 2: see the Lakers or the Celtics or people with real
- 25:44Speaker 2: stars first. Now, yes, now, yes, because I win because
- 25:48Speaker 2: he's top five, biggest star in the NBA. Now, I
- 25:53Speaker 2: did see what the MVP vote, the top five.
- 25:55Speaker 3: Or four, and that's crazy.
- 25:57Speaker 2: There hasn't been an American MVP and I think five
- 25:58Speaker 2: or six years.
- 25:59Speaker 3: Really, yeah, because when I look AT's Canadian? Right he is.
- 26:03Speaker 2: When I looked at the voting, number one was Shay
- 26:05Speaker 2: he won it again, and then I'm gonna proably mess
- 26:08Speaker 2: up the order. But Jokich was two. I believe Wimby
- 26:13Speaker 2: was three. Am I right? Still, I'm just going from
- 26:16Speaker 2: memory here. At four I think was wembin Yama.
- 26:22Speaker 3: Was three.
- 26:22Speaker 2: Yeah, sorry, he's a big dude. You know. It's a
- 26:27Speaker 2: good point. Luca was four broke him in half. Luca
- 26:30Speaker 2: was four and the honest no, no, no, it was
- 26:32Speaker 2: Yannis five. It was a foreigner. Let me think here,
- 26:35Speaker 2: what other foreigners are He's.
- 26:36Speaker 3: Right about four? It was Luca, yes, okay.
- 26:39Speaker 2: Five of the foreigner? Right?
- 26:41Speaker 1: No?
- 26:41Speaker 2: Oh, okay, so it's top four. Then then I'm wrong. Okay,
- 26:43Speaker 2: well the top four were foreigner.
- 26:44Speaker 3: So who's five?
- 26:46Speaker 2: Cade cunning him?
- 26:47Speaker 3: Oh?
- 26:47Speaker 2: Pistons?
- 26:48Speaker 3: Okay, okay, that's why I mean, that's crazy, dude, of
- 26:53Speaker 3: these international guys, it's I mean, it's not quite fair.
- 26:55Speaker 3: You have the United States versus the whole world.
- 26:58Speaker 2: Yeah, but we created it. We've had it for much longer.
- 27:00Speaker 3: I know.
- 27:01Speaker 2: Yeah, harden and eighteen was the last one American. Did
- 27:05Speaker 2: you see Rory be a total pud to get the
- 27:08Speaker 2: guy kicked out of the PGA?
- 27:09Speaker 4: I saw something about it, but I didn't see the clip,
- 27:11Speaker 4: but USA chan or something.
- 27:12Speaker 2: So it was after he had hit, say, swings and
- 27:16Speaker 2: the guy goes USA and Rory goes get him out
- 27:17Speaker 2: of here.
- 27:19Speaker 3: Really, he's done that before, you know.
- 27:21Speaker 2: It wasn't during his swing.
- 27:25Speaker 3: And I see more and more players saying get him
- 27:28Speaker 3: out of here, Like I don't know that's just my
- 27:30Speaker 3: TikTok algorithm re award.
- 27:32Speaker 2: But I've seen a logorithm to get him out of situation.
- 27:34Speaker 3: I've seen a lot of players. I saw one video
- 27:37Speaker 3: where it was just all compilation of a bunch of
- 27:39Speaker 3: players being like get him out of here, Like, hey,
- 27:41Speaker 3: who did that? That guy right there? Get him out?
- 27:43Speaker 2: Basketball? Does that a bunch? Yeah?
- 27:46Speaker 4: But those fans, they think basketball fans in particular, I
- 27:49Speaker 4: feel like, but you can get away from Europe with everything.
- 27:51Speaker 3: To yell anything you want after a swing at a
- 27:54Speaker 3: golf well not anything, well nothing.
- 27:57Speaker 2: I didn't feel like when the guy yelled USA, it
- 28:00Speaker 2: was worthy of him getting kicked out. But again I
- 28:02Speaker 2: didn't have the full context of it. I just saw
- 28:03Speaker 2: the clip, maybe though something before the before that's Rheory's
- 28:07Speaker 2: kind of a putt. And when he's not playing well,
- 28:08Speaker 2: I think he just starts to frizzle and find outside
- 28:12Speaker 2: factors that he can blame it on. But I still
- 28:16Speaker 2: I think he's got that reputation, doesn't he Yeah a
- 28:18Speaker 2: little bit.
- 28:18Speaker 3: Yeah, I think more and more you start seeing him
- 28:20Speaker 3: like not give a crap about what he does.
- 28:23Speaker 2: Well, I got bad news. I was about to join
- 28:25Speaker 2: liv oh and then they went down. Yea, I was
- 28:28Speaker 2: over forty million dollars for one year.
- 28:31Speaker 3: Dude, you remember, liked the money they were making was unbelievable. Yeah,
- 28:35Speaker 3: Like people were just like I would never take me, like, yeah.
- 28:38Speaker 4: Right, a lot of money after you half a billion
- 28:41Speaker 4: dollars get out of here.
- 28:42Speaker 3: I look at Cam Smith that I'm just like, do
- 28:44Speaker 3: that guy so rich? Oh? Dude is so rich because
- 28:48Speaker 3: he went to live.
- 28:49Speaker 2: We'll take a break, come back talk to Joe Varden.
- 28:51Speaker 2: We'll talk Lebron, NBA Finals, basketball, all that's coming up. All,
- 28:58Speaker 2: let's welcome in. Joe Varden, see your NBA writer for
- 29:01Speaker 2: The Athletic based in Cleveland, someone who's covered the league
- 29:03Speaker 2: from a lot of different angles. One of my favorite writers.
- 29:07Speaker 2: He's written about a bunch about Lebron, the Cavs, team USA,
- 29:10Speaker 2: the NBA playoffs, and you can check out his work
- 29:13Speaker 2: The Athletic, which I'm a big subscriber. You can follow
- 29:15Speaker 2: him on social media at Joe Varden. Joe appreciate you
- 29:18Speaker 2: coming on with us. I got to ask you the
- 29:21Speaker 2: Lebron question first, like, what's happening with Lebron. I'm just
- 29:24Speaker 2: gonna leave it vague like, what's happening with Lebron right now?
- 29:27Speaker 1: I mean we're doing a lot of talking these days
- 29:30Speaker 1: around Cleveland, wondering if he's going to show up for
- 29:33Speaker 1: one of these conference finals games just just for the
- 29:39Speaker 1: spectacle of it. He's done that before, you know, and
- 29:42Speaker 1: I think he I think it was during maybe a
- 29:44Speaker 1: contract year with the Lakers. It was a couple of
- 29:47Speaker 1: years ago, and he just showed up during the series
- 29:51Speaker 1: against the Celtics, and of course fans went crazy. But Bobby,
- 29:54Speaker 1: I think to your bigger point about what's going on
- 29:57Speaker 1: with him, the thing that I keep coming back to
- 30:03Speaker 1: is he's done so much, not only with his own career,
- 30:08Speaker 1: but what he's done for the league. And I think
- 30:11Speaker 1: the question that he's asking himself now is what is
- 30:15Speaker 1: another year worth to me? Because he he's making like
- 30:22Speaker 1: fifty two million dollars right now, and when his contract expires,
- 30:26Speaker 1: he is not going to get anywhere near that from
- 30:29Speaker 1: any team, including the Lakers. So what discount is worth
- 30:38Speaker 1: you know, the back to backs and the late night
- 30:42Speaker 1: flights and the days long of treatment, you know, and
- 30:45Speaker 1: the potential for injury, And then what is the whatever
- 30:49Speaker 1: team he's on, what does that team, look like, what
- 30:51Speaker 1: are their chances if it's not la is it worth
- 30:55Speaker 1: being away from his wife and from Zuri, his daughter,
- 30:58Speaker 1: you know, for for a month at a time. So
- 31:02Speaker 1: I'm not saying that that the the answers to those
- 31:06Speaker 1: questions isn't yes, or that there is a number that
- 31:08Speaker 1: he can be comfortable with. But it's like we talk
- 31:11Speaker 1: all the time, you know, we list Cleveland as one
- 31:13Speaker 1: of the places that he could come and finish his career. Well, okay,
- 31:19Speaker 1: barring massive moves by the front office that would reduce
- 31:24Speaker 1: the quality of this team. Lebron would have to walk
- 31:27Speaker 1: in and make six million dollars, which to you and
- 31:30Speaker 1: I might be allh Maybe to you it's not a lot.
- 31:32Speaker 2: To me, it's but uh, you know, is.
- 31:38Speaker 1: He going to walk in there with with the history
- 31:41Speaker 1: that he has in this with this franchise, in this
- 31:44Speaker 1: city and with the owner of Dan Gilbert and look
- 31:48Speaker 1: around and not only know how much you know, Donovan
- 31:51Speaker 1: makes and Harden and Evan and Jared Allen, but he'd
- 31:57Speaker 1: be making less than Sam Merrill. Is he okay with that?
- 32:00Speaker 1: I don't know? And if it's on another team, if
- 32:03Speaker 1: he's making ten million or even fifteen or even with
- 32:06Speaker 1: the Lakers and he's making twenty. You know, the guys
- 32:11Speaker 1: in the room that are making more than him, He'll
- 32:13Speaker 1: know it's because of what he's done for the league.
- 32:16Speaker 1: Like this seventy seven billion dollar media contract there that
- 32:21Speaker 1: just started this year, Well, how did the league get that?
- 32:24Speaker 1: It was because of what Lebron has done for this
- 32:28Speaker 1: this league over the last ten years, twelve years out
- 32:31Speaker 1: of his twenty eight three year season so or twenty
- 32:34Speaker 1: three year career. So I just think that that those
- 32:38Speaker 1: questions have a lot more to do with this than
- 32:40Speaker 1: I think we give them credit for.
- 32:43Speaker 2: Wouldn't it be the perfect storybook ending, though, if let's
- 32:46Speaker 2: say the Calves end up losing to the Knicks, or
- 32:49Speaker 2: the Calves even beat the Knicks and fall short to
- 32:51Speaker 2: the Thunder or the Spurs, and they're just they're so close,
- 32:54Speaker 2: we need one more piece, and Lebron takes one dollar
- 32:57Speaker 2: for one dollar. He comes in and is and everybody
- 33:01Speaker 2: stays intact. He still got hard and you still got
- 33:03Speaker 2: Donovan Mitchell still and he comes in and Cleveland wins
- 33:06Speaker 2: it again. Wouldn't that be the perfect storybook ending it?
- 33:10Speaker 1: Well? I think yes, I think, of course, it would
- 33:14Speaker 1: be and then that isn't That is an interesting component
- 33:19Speaker 1: of this because for Lebron's twenty three seasons, and this
- 33:23Speaker 1: is really a separator, a difference between maybe him and
- 33:28Speaker 1: like a Kobe Is. Lebron did have this he always has.
- 33:34Speaker 1: He's had this thing where he does. He wants to
- 33:36Speaker 1: be liked, and that's why when he left Cleveland the
- 33:39Speaker 1: first time, that first year in Miami was so difficult
- 33:42Speaker 1: for him because he was such a villain throughout the league.
- 33:47Speaker 1: So I do wonder about that. Like everything Lebron has
- 33:52Speaker 1: said about his earning potential and what he's meant to
- 33:55Speaker 1: the league, he is he has always said that he
- 33:58Speaker 1: would never do something like that. But if he changed
- 34:02Speaker 1: his mind and was pursuing that sort of cementable like
- 34:07Speaker 1: greatest of all time, you know, and the way he
- 34:11Speaker 1: would end his career by doing something like that, that
- 34:15Speaker 1: could be worth it to him.
- 34:17Speaker 2: It's Dan Gilbert loved in Cleveland right now.
- 34:20Speaker 1: Well so far. I just posted this story about Dan
- 34:25Speaker 1: not only renting out twenty five buses and sending fourteen
- 34:31Speaker 1: hundred Clevelanders up here to Detroit, which is where I
- 34:33Speaker 1: am talking to you, but also that the night before
- 34:36Speaker 1: he had dinner with Kenny Atkinson and some of the
- 34:39Speaker 1: front office and was giving like calm sage advice that
- 34:44Speaker 1: turned out to work in Game seven. And the reaction
- 34:48Speaker 1: so far has been pretty cool to the story. So
- 34:51Speaker 1: I think I think insofar as any billionaire is loved
- 34:58Speaker 1: these days, I think that dan Is would would be
- 35:03Speaker 1: pop certainly would be a popular character in the city.
- 35:06Speaker 1: He doesn't live there, He lives up here in suburban Detroit.
- 35:11Speaker 1: But he is the only living owner to win a
- 35:14Speaker 1: major professional sports title in Cleveland period. You know, they
- 35:19Speaker 1: had won one in sixty four, so that with the
- 35:23Speaker 1: Browns before there was the Super Bowl. Otherwise it's just
- 35:25Speaker 1: been the Cavs in sixteen. So he's it. And then
- 35:28Speaker 1: beyond that, he just he's never said no to spending
- 35:31Speaker 1: money on this team, and now he's investing in a
- 35:36Speaker 1: brand new practice facility on the west side of Cleveland
- 35:39Speaker 1: near where the flats used to be still are. You know,
- 35:43Speaker 1: it's just different times. And you know, he had bought
- 35:47Speaker 1: up all his property in downtown Cleveland and done some
- 35:49Speaker 1: work with casinos and that sort of thing, and so
- 35:53Speaker 1: I think, yeah, I think that that when you consider
- 35:59Speaker 1: what else is going on in the city with how
- 36:02Speaker 1: how hard it's been for the Browns. And you know,
- 36:05Speaker 1: the Guardians are always competitive, but they're always competitive with
- 36:10Speaker 1: a greatly reduced payroll, which is upsetting to fans. Yeah,
- 36:14Speaker 1: I think I think that Dan. I think that Dan
- 36:17Speaker 1: really has a place in Cleveland, Lore.
- 36:20Speaker 2: Do you think the fans that he's sent up in
- 36:22Speaker 2: all the buses, which, by the way, uh a perfect
- 36:25Speaker 2: move if you're trying to get, you know, the people
- 36:27Speaker 2: a Cleveland to love you. Do you think the fans
- 36:28Speaker 2: made a difference, So.
- 36:33Speaker 1: Kenny Kenny said they did. I don't know. I I
- 36:39Speaker 1: you know, Bobby, I'm gonna look at this in a
- 36:41Speaker 1: different way. So the Cavs have the most expensive roster
- 36:45Speaker 1: in the NBA, and because of that, it can make
- 36:49Speaker 1: it difficult to maneuver around the edges or change your team.
- 36:54Speaker 1: And Donovan Mitchell is do an extension this summer and like,
- 37:00Speaker 1: do you want to pay that? And there's always questions
- 37:04Speaker 1: about coaching, especially if a team doesn't live up to
- 37:08Speaker 1: the expectations. And this was an organization that has just failed,
- 37:14Speaker 1: I guess, for lack of a better term, to get
- 37:17Speaker 1: out of the second round. Since it got good again,
- 37:20Speaker 1: you know, like they did a nice job recovering from
- 37:22Speaker 1: Lebron leaving for the Lakers, but then haven't been able
- 37:26Speaker 1: to take that next step for years. So there was
- 37:28Speaker 1: a lot riding on this. And that's kind of a
- 37:33Speaker 1: big gesture. I think it's kind of like you know,
- 37:36Speaker 1: going all in or you know, just whatever poker term
- 37:40Speaker 1: you can think of, Like that to me, like if
- 37:45Speaker 1: if Dan does that and then the score is reversed,
- 37:48Speaker 1: or even if the Cavs just lose, you know, he
- 37:52Speaker 1: like that he could have that like thrown in his
- 37:55Speaker 1: face in the community where he lives, which is up here.
- 37:58Speaker 1: So to show that kind of belief in support in
- 38:03Speaker 1: his product and in in this this team, like kind
- 38:07Speaker 1: of says, says to me, like where he is on
- 38:12Speaker 1: the direction of this team. And I think he's really
- 38:14Speaker 1: I think he approves of it. And I think you
- 38:17Speaker 1: know that regardless of what happens in these conference finals
- 38:21Speaker 1: against a very very strong Knicks team, you know, I
- 38:24Speaker 1: think we should expect that, you know that he is
- 38:28Speaker 1: he is happy with the direction of this team and
- 38:31Speaker 1: for it largely to remain the same.
- 38:33Speaker 2: I felt like the Pistons just did not have enough
- 38:35Speaker 2: offensive firepower last night. It's like Kate Cunningham and that's it.
- 38:37Speaker 2: You were there your thoughts.
- 38:39Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean I thought that that was the question
- 38:42Speaker 1: going into the playoffs for this team. And I thought
- 38:46Speaker 1: that in a way, the Pistons weren't given enough credit
- 38:50Speaker 1: for how well and how hard they played every night
- 38:53Speaker 1: during the regular season. But I do think that at
- 38:57Speaker 1: some level that's how they got to The Number one
- 39:00Speaker 1: is that you know, in this league, where schedules are
- 39:03Speaker 1: so different depending on who you're playing that particular night,
- 39:08Speaker 1: if you have a younger, stronger team that's hungrier, you
- 39:14Speaker 1: can just go out and out physical teams in a
- 39:18Speaker 1: way that you can't do in the NFL or in
- 39:21Speaker 1: Major League Baseball during the regular season. And then that
- 39:24Speaker 1: doesn't quite work all the time when you get to
- 39:27Speaker 1: to the to the postseason, because everybody's schedule schedule is
- 39:30Speaker 1: the same and everybody feels the stakes. And so I
- 39:36Speaker 1: thought what was exposed or what we saw from a
- 39:38Speaker 1: Detroit team is a team that is disciplined, that is huge,
- 39:43Speaker 1: that is not afraid of the physicality, but in like
- 39:48Speaker 1: when the chips are down, doesn't have that reliable enough
- 39:52Speaker 1: of the second option behind Kid and the Cavs just
- 39:55Speaker 1: threw all kinds of stuff at him last night, and
- 40:00Speaker 1: you know that he just couldn't get it going, and
- 40:03Speaker 1: nobody else really could. I mean, I feel like their
- 40:06Speaker 1: second most reliable option offensively was Duncan Robinson. And so,
- 40:13Speaker 1: you know, I think there's still more work to be
- 40:15Speaker 1: done there. And we still we forget two years ago
- 40:18Speaker 1: they were they were not just the worst team in
- 40:20Speaker 1: the NBA, they were one of the worst teams in
- 40:22Speaker 1: NBA history. And now they're they're we're talking about number
- 40:26Speaker 1: one seeds and taking that next step. So let's not
- 40:29Speaker 1: lose sight of the fact of how far Detroit has
- 40:33Speaker 1: traveled in a very short amount of time. But yeah,
- 40:37Speaker 1: I mean, they still have some work to do, and
- 40:39Speaker 1: they should right like, you know, they like, that's too
- 40:44Speaker 1: much ground to trap to cover in three years and
- 40:48Speaker 1: then there is something in the East. There's only one team, Bobby,
- 40:52Speaker 1: in the last ten years that has gotten that number
- 40:55Speaker 1: one seed and made it to the finals, and that
- 40:57Speaker 1: was the twenty four Celtics, And you know, Detroit's not
- 41:00Speaker 1: quite there yet.
- 41:01Speaker 2: The next just had a full week off, Cleveland just
- 41:04Speaker 2: came out of the seven game series. It kind of
- 41:05Speaker 2: feels like what happened with the next where the seventy
- 41:07Speaker 2: six Ers just came out of a seven game series
- 41:09Speaker 2: and ran into the Knicks. How are we feeling like
- 41:12Speaker 2: as far as the series starting, is Cleveland get gonna
- 41:16Speaker 2: need a buffer game to kind of get their their
- 41:18Speaker 2: wheels back.
- 41:20Speaker 1: Well, man, look, I don't know when this airs today,
- 41:23Speaker 1: So today, okay? Today? All right? Good? Well, then you know,
- 41:29Speaker 1: I guess I'm putting myself out there. I've been through
- 41:33Speaker 1: this before, you know, as you mentioned, I've been doing
- 41:36Speaker 1: this a while, and I am aware of what happened
- 41:40Speaker 1: to the Sixers in game one, but the Knicks did
- 41:43Speaker 1: not have anywhere near the layoff going into the conference
- 41:47Speaker 1: semi finals that they've had now. And it is my
- 41:51Speaker 1: experience that these game ones, when one team is coming
- 41:55Speaker 1: off a seven game series and the other team has
- 41:58Speaker 1: been off for eight days, that they're a mess and
- 42:02Speaker 1: you're not gonna really be able to tell from this
- 42:05Speaker 1: first game what the series is gonna look like. And
- 42:08Speaker 1: I certainly felt that way going into the Calves Piston series,
- 42:12Speaker 1: and I know both teams had played a game seven,
- 42:16Speaker 1: so all that's a long way to say. Actually, think,
- 42:18Speaker 1: while I'm picking the Knicks in the series. I think
- 42:21Speaker 1: the Calves are gonna win tomorrow night. I think the
- 42:24Speaker 1: Knicks are gonna look really rusty, They're gonna be a
- 42:26Speaker 1: little out of sync. And the Calves have played every
- 42:29Speaker 1: other day for two weeks and they really found something
- 42:34Speaker 1: that worked the other night, and they'll probably go out
- 42:37Speaker 1: there tomorrow with roughly the same game plan. And so
- 42:41Speaker 1: I kind of think, you know, this series is one
- 42:44Speaker 1: to one going back to Cleveland.
- 42:46Speaker 2: I know we started with Lebron. I'd kind of like
- 42:48Speaker 2: to end back on Lebron. I was thinking about people
- 42:50Speaker 2: who had so much hype, and I think he's probably
- 42:53Speaker 2: the most live up to the hype athlete I've ever seen.
- 42:56Speaker 2: I mean Bryce Harper, a guy who had a lot
- 42:59Speaker 2: of hype and had a Hall of Fame career. I
- 43:01Speaker 2: think it's Lebron. I think the other guy who I've
- 43:03Speaker 2: seen hyped up a lot and deserving so far, but
- 43:06Speaker 2: still so we're in the infancy of it, as Wemby,
- 43:08Speaker 2: But is Lebron the most hyped and lived up to
- 43:11Speaker 2: the hype athlete that you've ever seen?
- 43:13Speaker 1: Oh? Yeah, I mean I'll be forty six in September,
- 43:16Speaker 1: So yeah, it's not even close. In the NBA, we've
- 43:25Speaker 1: had some We've had guys who have come into the
- 43:29Speaker 1: league with very similar expectations, which is hard to do.
- 43:34Speaker 1: But if you think about a Zion Williamson in the
- 43:38Speaker 1: fanfare that followed him, and then now I think Wemby,
- 43:42Speaker 1: although it might be a little different because he's not
- 43:44Speaker 1: from the United States, and I just think that matters.
- 43:48Speaker 1: I just there hasn't been anybody anybody that has been
- 43:54Speaker 1: has has had so much expectation and just this sort
- 43:57Speaker 1: of promise around him that he is going to do
- 44:01Speaker 1: these special things in his sport. Maybe Tiger, but I
- 44:05Speaker 1: don't care. I think we were saying Tiger until he
- 44:10Speaker 1: won the ninety seven Masters, and then if you think
- 44:14Speaker 1: about so, then the expectations placed on him and then
- 44:17Speaker 1: he wins whatever fourteen or fifteen, I forget now. So
- 44:21Speaker 1: maybe Tiger, but then even like you know, Jordan Speith Rory,
- 44:26Speaker 1: like these guys in golf that they go crazy as
- 44:29Speaker 1: young as young athletes, and we start talking about them
- 44:32Speaker 1: as the next Tiger. And the reason why I say
- 44:34Speaker 1: Tiger and I know I'm focused on golf and I'm
- 44:36Speaker 1: wearing this golf hat, but like Tiger Woods took a
- 44:40Speaker 1: sport that was on the fringe and made it mainstream.
- 44:43Speaker 1: Like he changed the whole conversation. So I do think
- 44:45Speaker 1: he counts, and there were people that were supposed to
- 44:49Speaker 1: follow him, and nobody's really kind of gotten there. I think,
- 44:52Speaker 1: you know, we're looking at Caitlyn Clark is maybe being
- 44:56Speaker 1: able to do that for the WNBA, but he didn't
- 45:00Speaker 1: have a very good second year. You know, she was hurt,
- 45:02Speaker 1: so like she's got a lot of work to do.
- 45:04Speaker 1: So you can just go all just all the sports.
- 45:09Speaker 1: You know, Mike Trout like for as great as he is,
- 45:12Speaker 1: like he's been hampered by injuries like show, hey again Japanese.
- 45:15Speaker 1: So it's just a little different when we talk about
- 45:18Speaker 1: these expectations and what we're watching. Show he has been
- 45:21Speaker 1: really good and he's a multi time champion, so maybe
- 45:25Speaker 1: he's in that conversation. Maybe, But I just there isn't
- 45:29Speaker 1: really any other athlete that compares when you talk about
- 45:33Speaker 1: what was expected of him and what he ended up doing.
- 45:36Speaker 1: It's been a remarkable ride and I've been lucky to
- 45:39Speaker 1: have been able to cover so much of it.
- 45:41Speaker 2: Yeah, I think in Lebron wearing the Irish Jersey in
- 45:43Speaker 2: high school on the cover of Sports Illustrated, like he's
- 45:46Speaker 2: a a a high school teenager and it's like, this
- 45:49Speaker 2: is the next guy. And turns out they were right.
- 45:53Speaker 2: They're right, which is crazy because yeah, they're never right. Okay,
- 45:56Speaker 2: let me give you one final final question. What happens
- 45:59Speaker 2: with Giannis?
- 46:00Speaker 1: Yeah, I I I think it would be better. I
- 46:08Speaker 1: think it's I think the Bucks should I think the
- 46:10Speaker 1: Bucks should trade him. I think they should. I I
- 46:13Speaker 1: just think that he the way he carried himself this
- 46:16Speaker 1: year was a disappointment. It was, and I think that
- 46:21Speaker 1: he caused most of the problems that they had there.
- 46:25Speaker 1: And even you could trace Doc Rivers back like Doc
- 46:30Speaker 1: didn't work out so well there, okay, but you could
- 46:34Speaker 1: trace all that back to Giannis too. So much of
- 46:37Speaker 1: what they've done over the last however many years, like
- 46:40Speaker 1: the trade for for Damian Lillard and like the like
- 46:43Speaker 1: sort of the breaking up of their championship team, all
- 46:46Speaker 1: that was done in Giannis's name. And so then we
- 46:49Speaker 1: get to this point this year where it's it's obvious
- 46:53Speaker 1: that he and his his representatives were having discussions with
- 46:57Speaker 1: the Bucks about maybe moving on, and then for whatever reason,
- 47:02Speaker 1: it doesn't quite work out, and like so now he's
- 47:05Speaker 1: trying to save face, but then the way the season ended,
- 47:08Speaker 1: it's just I know, it's exhausting to me. And if
- 47:12Speaker 1: it's clear there in Milwaukee that they can't win anymore
- 47:15Speaker 1: with him, you know, see what you can't can get now.
- 47:19Speaker 1: I do give them credit for holding their ground because
- 47:25Speaker 1: I didn't really like any of the offers that they
- 47:28Speaker 1: got at the trade deadline this year, and I expect,
- 47:30Speaker 1: I expect there to be more options available to them now.
- 47:35Speaker 1: But I think for all parties involved, I think it's
- 47:38Speaker 1: time to do that. So where he ends up, I
- 47:40Speaker 1: don't know, but I just think I do think it's time,
- 47:46Speaker 1: and I think it'd be good for the league, for
- 47:48Speaker 1: the Bucks, and for Giannis to just turn the page
- 47:51Speaker 1: from this whole story.
- 47:53Speaker 2: Joe appreciate the time everybody followed Joe, Joe vard O
- 47:56Speaker 2: and Joe Varden And again, I'm a big Athletic subscriber
- 47:59Speaker 2: and I see that every month when it resubscribes on
- 48:02Speaker 2: my credit card because it pops on my phone. You've
- 48:04Speaker 2: been billed for the Athletic. I read all your stuff.
- 48:07Speaker 2: I'm a big fan. Thanks Joe for the time oh
- 48:10Speaker 2: my pleasure.
- 48:10Speaker 1: Next time I have a I have an Eric Church
- 48:13Speaker 1: NBA story for you.
- 48:15Speaker 2: Okay, So I guess next to the I got time now,
- 48:19Speaker 2: I'd love to hear it.
- 48:20Speaker 1: All right, Well it's not. I mean, it's really cool
- 48:22Speaker 1: to me. And then the fact that like you were
- 48:24Speaker 1: having me on, I was really excited about it. So
- 48:26Speaker 1: if this lands flat, you know, all right, But I
- 48:31Speaker 1: was assigned to the Nuggets, and I do believe this
- 48:38Speaker 1: was this was This was not when they went to
- 48:41Speaker 1: the finals. This was I think when they ultimately lost
- 48:44Speaker 1: in the conference finals. And so I flew home from
- 48:49Speaker 1: my son's first communion and then I flew back to
- 48:53Speaker 1: Denver to rejoin the series. And it was an off
- 48:56Speaker 1: day and and so I, you know, I'm landing in Denver,
- 49:01Speaker 1: don't know what I'm gonna do that night. And then
- 49:03Speaker 1: it just comes across my phone that there's an air
- 49:05Speaker 1: Church concert and I'm like, oh, yeah, I'm in for this.
- 49:09Speaker 1: And and so like I land and I go to
- 49:12Speaker 1: I try to catch practice. I think it was the
- 49:15Speaker 1: Blazers have practice at the arena and I get in
- 49:18Speaker 1: there and I'm late and practice was over, and so
- 49:22Speaker 1: I'm just kind of walking through the arena looking for stuff.
- 49:25Speaker 1: And I went into the media room thinking I could
- 49:28Speaker 1: at least like pick up a can of diet PEPSI,
- 49:32Speaker 1: you know, see if anybody's in there, see if there's
- 49:34Speaker 1: anything I could get, you know, for work. And the
- 49:37Speaker 1: media room had been completely turned over and like the
- 49:40Speaker 1: lights were low and there were some tables and some candles.
- 49:43Speaker 1: I'm like, what am I walking into? And sure enough
- 49:47Speaker 1: Air Church was in there, half naked with a towel
- 49:51Speaker 1: over over his bottom half getting a rub down in
- 49:55Speaker 1: the Denver Nuggets media room. And I walked walked right
- 49:58Speaker 1: in on it. So there you go.
- 50:00Speaker 2: And did you say anything to a half naked Eric
- 50:03Speaker 2: Church laying down getting rubbed down?
- 50:05Speaker 1: Oh?
- 50:05Speaker 2: Sorry, all right, that's good.
- 50:09Speaker 3: That's good.
- 50:10Speaker 2: You saw them in away. I never have There you go,
- 50:13Speaker 2: There you go, Joe. I hope you have a great week.
- 50:15Speaker 2: Thank you so much for spending time with us, big fan.
- 50:18Speaker 1: Thanks Bobby, me too, Thanks thanks for having me.
- 50:20Speaker 2: Bye, all right, thanks to Joe Varden. Before we go,
- 50:29Speaker 2: I want to talk about this nine Have you guys
- 50:31Speaker 2: seen this challenge? The nine by nine by nine challenge?
- 50:34Speaker 3: No?
- 50:35Speaker 2: No, So the nine by nine challenge first is something
- 50:39Speaker 2: they do in baseball, which involves nine hot dogs, nine beers,
- 50:44Speaker 2: nine innings, and there are now teams that build the
- 50:47Speaker 2: tray for it. Oh wow. So you can go to
- 50:52Speaker 2: certain ballparks and they have the nine by nine challenge.
- 50:55Speaker 2: Nine hot dogs, nine beers, nine innings. A fantasy football
- 50:58Speaker 2: loser had to do the nine by nine by nine challenge.
- 51:00Speaker 2: He had to run nine miles in one day. Golf
- 51:05Speaker 2: nine holes. After he runs nine miles, eat nine doughnuts.
- 51:11Speaker 3: It's not bad.
- 51:12Speaker 2: Ready, drink nine shots of espresso, finish nine nicotine pouches.
- 51:20Speaker 3: Wait, now we're nine nine nine nine nine.
- 51:23Speaker 2: Well there's nine of them. There's lees they probably eat
- 51:27Speaker 2: things that is terrible. Complete nine ski runs. This is
- 51:31Speaker 2: in Vermont. I don't know anything about skiing, but it's
- 51:33Speaker 2: like just a downhill, eat nine hot dogs, drink nine beers,
- 51:37Speaker 2: and sit through nine innings of baseball at a Red
- 51:38Speaker 2: Sox game.
- 51:39Speaker 3: And how much time one day day, in one day?
- 51:42Speaker 3: That's impossible, impossible, impossible. There's no way, dude, as someone
- 51:47Speaker 3: who tried to eat I don't know how many hot dogs.
- 51:50Speaker 2: That's you have to think about this. So let's say
- 51:52Speaker 2: the game started at seven pm. Yeah, Okay, so you
- 51:55Speaker 2: wake up in the morning and you run nine miles.
- 51:57Speaker 3: First, how long does that take?
- 51:59Speaker 2: Mike, let's you can do it in two or twenty.
- 52:04Speaker 3: Random Why you're.
- 52:06Speaker 2: Doing a fifteen minute mile? Yeah, and just really be
- 52:10Speaker 2: conservative about that.
- 52:13Speaker 3: It's already noon.
- 52:14Speaker 2: Well, let's say you start at six though. Okay, six
- 52:17Speaker 2: six am. Let we do the math here, So.
- 52:19Speaker 3: What are we thinking three hours to do that.
- 52:23Speaker 2: Let's see if we do a fifteen minute mile times
- 52:27Speaker 2: nine miles. Yeah, two and a half hourska, roughly, what
- 52:32Speaker 2: do you do? You get a different number than me? Yeah,
- 52:33Speaker 2: I got two hours and fifteen minutes.
- 52:35Speaker 3: Yeah, two and a half.
- 52:36Speaker 2: Okay, So then so that's two and a half hours.
- 52:38Speaker 2: So now it's let's have fifteen. Now you got it five.
- 52:41Speaker 2: You gotta start it. You gotta start at four thirty.
- 52:43Speaker 3: Four thirty.
- 52:43Speaker 2: Yeah, let's start at four to thirty. You're done by
- 52:46Speaker 2: seven am. There, okay, Now you got a golf nine
- 52:49Speaker 2: holes and that's.
- 52:49Speaker 3: Probably gonna time. You get two hours.
- 52:51Speaker 2: Let's be conservative though it may not be a good golfer.
- 52:54Speaker 3: Okay, two and a half hours.
- 52:55Speaker 2: Okay, So now it's nine thirty, eat nine donuts. You
- 52:58Speaker 2: can be done. By ten, drink nine shots of espresso.
- 53:01Speaker 2: That's gonna hurt. But let's just go to eleven AM.
- 53:05Speaker 2: I don't know how long a single ski run takes. Yeah,
- 53:08Speaker 2: I feel like driving there alone and just getting set up.
- 53:10Speaker 2: I think they's gonna be close to where they live
- 53:12Speaker 2: or they wouldn't do it. Yeah, but I don't anybody
- 53:14Speaker 2: here go skiing. No, it could be like fifteen minutes
- 53:18Speaker 2: to complete, okay, one, yeah, ten, yeah, ten, fifteen, twenty minutes. Okay,
- 53:22Speaker 2: so let's say it's twenty minutes, it's one eighty. Let's
- 53:25Speaker 2: stay three hours. So now we're at let's just say
- 53:29Speaker 2: we're two thirty pm.
- 53:30Speaker 3: I'm stressing out already.
- 53:31Speaker 2: There's nine nicotine pouches, so you can probably do those
- 53:33Speaker 2: while you're doing a ski run, while you're doing anything, Yes,
- 53:36Speaker 2: but you gotta that's an espresso though, so sorry, not
- 53:39Speaker 2: anything anything. Yeah, that's not gonna mix.
- 53:41Speaker 3: Well, the donuts you can do while you're playing golf,
- 53:43Speaker 3: you can do while you're true anything.
- 53:45Speaker 2: So it's two thirty right now, let's just say it's
- 53:48Speaker 2: three pm. After you finish the nickete pouches, then you
- 53:51Speaker 2: got to go. But then you go to the game
- 53:52Speaker 2: at seven, so there's time to do this. You gotta
- 53:55Speaker 2: focus of there's time to do this. That sounds miserable. Yeah,
- 53:59Speaker 2: that's that's hard. It's funny though. It made the news,
- 54:02Speaker 2: so you know, man. The other thing before we jump is,
- 54:07Speaker 2: I saw Tom Brady walk in the catwalk in the
- 54:09Speaker 2: Gucci dude in all leather? Did you see it? Yes?
- 54:13Speaker 2: What's up with your boy? He's he's killing his winning aura.
- 54:18Speaker 3: He is your boy?
- 54:19Speaker 4: No, no, no, no, no, no, he's not my boy anymore.
- 54:21Speaker 4: I know Tom Brady as the guy that you didn't
- 54:24Speaker 4: know anything about other than he wins super Bowls.
- 54:26Speaker 2: That's a Tom Brady I know.
- 54:28Speaker 3: Still the same dude.
- 54:29Speaker 4: He's definitely because we know all about him and his
- 54:31Speaker 4: runways and his girls. Ever, and is Michael jackson red
- 54:35Speaker 4: jacket that he's wearing now everything now?
- 54:37Speaker 3: Kissing his son on the lips after a little massage
- 54:40Speaker 3: is not a big deal, right.
- 54:40Speaker 2: I don't even remember that.
- 54:42Speaker 4: That feels like so many times ago that now all
- 54:45Speaker 4: I think about is what he's doing now.
- 54:47Speaker 2: I saw the picture and I thought it was ai
- 54:49Speaker 2: because he was in like all black leather, and I
- 54:51Speaker 2: thought Tom Brady is a good looking dude, And you
- 54:54Speaker 2: know what, anybody have fun, live your best life. All
- 54:57Speaker 2: I'm saying is, if you're a Brady football fan, this
- 54:59Speaker 2: is kind of killing that killing it absolutely. I'm not
- 55:02Speaker 2: even being a hater for what he was doing. I'm
- 55:04Speaker 2: just saying he was known as the champion quiet assassin.
- 55:10Speaker 2: Now he is the loud, luxurious, dating influencers model all
- 55:17Speaker 2: black leves.
- 55:18Speaker 3: Its weird.
- 55:18Speaker 2: Giving commencement speeches in the same day is weird. I
- 55:21Speaker 2: don't mind that so much. I know, I mean neither.
- 55:23Speaker 2: I'm just saying, like it. It's just everywhere.
- 55:25Speaker 4: It's like he did Georgetown, right, Yeah, at Georgetown, and
- 55:28Speaker 4: I saw he was also celebrating with the Aces and
- 55:30Speaker 4: their WNBA championship.
- 55:32Speaker 2: Like all in one weekend. He's doing all this, which life,
- 55:35Speaker 2: live your life. All that sounds fun. I'd like to
- 55:37Speaker 2: do all of it. But Tom Brady the greatest quarterback
- 55:39Speaker 2: of all time. It makes what we thought of as
- 55:45Speaker 2: like this dude that just focuses and win championships. It
- 55:47Speaker 2: just we see a different version of him now. I
- 55:49Speaker 2: know you think the.
- 55:49Speaker 4: Divorce is the big reasons to be right, because it
- 55:52Speaker 4: has gotten crazy since the divorce.
- 55:54Speaker 3: My wife goes out of town for a weekend. But
- 55:56Speaker 3: you know what, I'm doing.
- 55:56Speaker 2: Nine donuts and yeah, yeah, I'm not hating. I'm just
- 56:02Speaker 2: saying it's weird. It's a totally different version of the
- 56:05Speaker 2: person that we thought we knew. I agree, I totally agree.
- 56:08Speaker 2: I missed the old Tom bra.
- 56:09Speaker 3: It's not fair because you guys pinned him as this
- 56:11Speaker 3: football player.
- 56:12Speaker 2: No, no, he did that well, protected his image perfectly.
- 56:16Speaker 2: Now one championship, we know what he's really like. All right,
- 56:19Speaker 2: that's it, Thank you guys. Thanks to Joe Barden. Thanks
- 56:21Speaker 2: to kick Off, Kevin and Eddie and Mike with the whistle.
