- 2:25You're listening to the Beep Forever Cool podcast.
- 2:27My name is Rex 45. Man, what a race weekend.
- 2:33It's all I got to say. It's one of the best I've seen
- 2:35all year. We had a little bit of
- 2:38everything and what could have been should have been penalties,
- 2:42not penalties. Who can get away with what.
- 2:45We're going to dive into that with the guys, but before we do
- 2:49that, I want to thank all fans for commenting, liking,
- 2:54subscribing, keeping us engaged, trying to keep us on our toes,
- 2:58maybe even making some of us have to hire a bodyguard.
- 3:01Our two definitely shout you guys out.
- 3:04We appreciate everything you're doing.

- 3:31I mentioned Rexy 45, Rexy be forever cool, all that fun
- 3:35stuff. But with no further ado, man.
- 3:37Let's get the guys in first up, but not last.
- 3:41TJ man, welcome to the show. How you do?
- 3:44How you doing tonight man? I'm doing great.
- 3:47How you doing over there? I'm good man.
- 3:50You sound. You sound like you're trying to
- 3:51try out for one of the Godfather five to six part man.
- 3:54What's good man? How you doing?
- 3:56No much, you know, just can't complain.
- 3:58It was a really good race weekend, so can't wait to chop
- 4:02it up about it. So yeah, it's just getting ready
- 4:06for, you know, to talk about racing.
- 4:09It's kind of tough. You know, your Celtics look like
- 4:11they're the favorite of coming out of the East, so I know you
- 4:13must be all into that as well. You know, I don't want to talk
- 4:19about it every time because it sounded like a broken record,
- 4:21but you know, the Celtics are looking really good.
- 4:24I don't want to, I don't want to jinx anything.
- 4:26But yeah, we, we, we're definitely going to be moving on
- 4:29to the next round, so. All right, no doubt, no doubt,
- 4:32no doubt. That's what's up.
- 4:33Speaking of the next round, let's move on down the line.
- 4:35Aris, man, welcome to the show, man.
- 4:37How you doing tonight? Yeah, what's good, man?
- 4:40Just trying to find some parking for the night and relax.
- 4:44That's about it. But it was a good weekend.
- 4:47I had to chop it up with your boys and talk about some
- 4:50craziness that happened over the weekend.
- 4:52No doubt, no doubt, man, that's the best part of a night when
- 4:54you about to pull in and park for the night, man, I know that
- 4:57for sure. No lie.
- 5:01Long days, man. Yeah, yeah.
- 5:05I mean, it's a little bit different.
- 5:06Your truck is a lot bigger than the truck I'm pulling.
- 5:08But park and push your push your feet up, put the brakes on and
- 5:15know you ain't moving for a little bit.
- 5:18Exactly. You know how it is.
- 5:19It's just another day. All right, no doubt we're going
- 5:22to chop it up, man. For sure.
- 5:23We're going to keep it moving. Lewis, man.
- 5:25Welcome to the show, man. How you doing tonight, man?
- 5:30Yeah, well, you're on mute, Lewis.
- 5:32I I think you, you know what? I'm saying I was on the phone
- 5:35before, I didn't want to get the conversation picked up on, but
- 5:40I'm doing good, man. Long weekend, long week.
- 5:42Another long week coming up. Another long weekend, another
- 5:45long week. Next week.
- 5:46It just feels like one constant day rolling into an X at this
- 5:50point, man. It's going to be a last four
- 5:54weeks have been tough and like they think the next 5-6 weeks
- 5:58are just going to be running running the gamut there.
- 6:03Yeah, now I feel you there, man. I, you know, I at the beginning
- 6:07of the season, you know, we were talking, you know what's going
- 6:09to happen and all that. Now, like just part way through
- 6:12it, it's the same thing, man. My, the last 4-5 weeks has been
- 6:15ridiculous. Next weekend it, it just goes.
- 6:20I'm not complaining, but you know, it is.
- 6:22It's like it's nice to pull the truck up and park for the night,
- 6:26get that appreciation because you know what you wake, you know
- 6:29what you got going in front of you.
- 6:31Yeah, this past weekend went by super fast.
- 6:37I had like a, you know, one of those.
- 6:38It's always those last minute waiting for something to arrive
- 6:41from UPS. As soon as it arrives, get in
- 6:44the truck and take a drive to where you have to go do the
- 6:47event. You know, meet the right people,
- 6:50shake the right hands, kiss the right babies, and then pack
- 6:53everything up. Come home, get through the work
- 6:56week and then just kind of keep rolling from one day to the
- 6:59next. Man, it's it's a non-stop roller
- 7:02coaster ride. You know, my, my suitcase stays
- 7:04out. I don't even I don't even put it
- 7:05away. It's just it's crazy.
- 7:09I ain't complaining, man. We, you know, we got a lot to
- 7:11complain about. I don't have a lot to complain
- 7:13about, but we got a lot to talk about on the chill.
- 7:14OK, A lot has has happened and I I don't even know we'll go
- 7:20around a horn and just get an overview guys, What you thoughts
- 7:23and and and I think the first thing I want to touch on is, you
- 7:27know, in the Sprint we don't get to some point, but in the
- 7:29Sprint, should that have been a penalty for Mark when he crashed
- 7:35and then crossed the race line to to to exchange bikes to get
- 7:39into the paddock? But let's go around a horn guys.
- 7:41Let's talk about the weekend. You start with TJ, What you
- 7:46thought, man, You know, watching it, the Sprint, it was a month
- 7:49off. Can't believe it's kind of
- 7:50weird, man. It's weird, you know, having 33
- 7:53rounds and then that that long break.
- 7:56I mean, it wasn't planned, but it happened.
- 7:57So it's nice to have Moto GP back for sure.
- 8:02Yeah, this weekend round was it was, it was really good.
- 8:07You know, didn't expect like the rain to happen.
- 8:09But as a fan, you know, I'd love to see, you know, the flag to
- 8:13flag, the option to jump to another bike.
- 8:16It just makes things exciting and test all the riders limits
- 8:21both sides on dry and wet. So it's just, you know, the
- 8:25first practice that they went out was dry and then, you know,
- 8:28they had the qualifying wet conditions.
- 8:31So made things a little interesting.
- 8:33The Sprint was very crazy, you know, like I think a lot of
- 8:38riders are trying to pull Brad Bender from a couple years ago,
- 8:42but you know, that it, it just didn't happen that way.
- 8:45I think half of the field crashed.
- 8:47And as far as the Mark Marquez, I feel like this guy makes makes
- 8:54makes rules. So he's the guy that set trends
- 8:57to to make a rule. So as long as his bikers
- 9:01running, I thought it was OK, but technically he did pass the
- 9:05pit in. So I don't know.
- 9:07It's it's, it's iffy, but what he did was pretty amazing.
- 9:11We're going, we're going to dive into it more.
- 9:13So don't don't you worry, save save your thoughts there for
- 9:15that, because you know, I we'll, we'll keep it basic 1st and and
- 9:19and get crazy. Reese, man, you know, you're,
- 9:22you're you're muted, but we'll give you some time to get that
- 9:24mute off you. You heard TJ some of the
- 9:29weekend. You know, what are your
- 9:30thoughts, man, about the weekend and, and, and just the craziness
- 9:34of of the riders, the just the rain, you know, even even Moto
- 9:382, because Moto 2 was all all the classes was Wilding out.
- 9:41I mean, I think you I think you have to if you didn't watch all
- 9:43the classes you really missed out on.
- 9:45You know, you just had the main course.
- 9:47You got to, you got to, you got to have the early warm, as they
- 9:50say in a dance hall. No, I, I actually got a chance
- 9:55to see all of it, man. And it was that was one of the
- 9:57craziest races I've ever seen in before, you know, from Moto 2 to
- 10:02Moto 3 to to even GP. That was just one of the
- 10:05craziest events from the crashes to the people going down, even
- 10:10to to piggyback off of what TJ said, I mean, I would have
- 10:14thought that he would have got the penalty, but apparently he
- 10:19didn't, you know, because if you paid attention, you know, top
- 10:22rack out the penalty for crashing in.
- 10:25And you know, with Jorge Martin got his penalty.
- 10:28So they was handing out the penalties and you know, he never
- 10:31got it. So I don't know if it was
- 10:32because of his hometown or who he is.
- 10:35It's almost, you know, I was saying to a couple people, it's
- 10:37almost like the the Jordan effect, you know what I mean?
- 10:39Like Jordan never got the calls, you know, and here we are with
- 10:43Marquez, he doesn't get the calls.
- 10:45So I mean, I don't know. Yeah, I know.
- 10:49Race Direction was like Oprah. Everyone's getting a penalty.
- 10:54Right. Everybody got a penalty.
- 10:55But then again, is it in the rule books?
- 10:58Because he did cross into pit lane, but it's a you crossed the
- 11:05grass and you went across the track.
- 11:07Yeah, we're going, we're going to dive.
- 11:09We're going to dive into after, after Lewis gets to get his
- 11:12talk. You know, it's what they teach
- 11:15us when you get to the track for your very first time.
- 11:18I mean, if you just, if you just go on that.
- 11:19You know what I'm saying? What's what's going on, Lewis
- 11:23man? What do you think of the weekend
- 11:25Man? I saw nothing wrong.
- 11:27It was a great weekend. I saw no infractions.
- 11:31I don't know what anybody's talking about.
- 11:32I know what this Everybody woke up this weekend looking for
- 11:35infractions. I saw great racing.
- 11:37I saw a lot of fun. I saw some crazy stuff and it
- 11:42made for an exciting show. From Moto 2 to Moto 3 to Moto
- 11:45GP, all the races were exciting. I mean, even the practices were
- 11:49a little bit insane, but the show was great.
- 11:52It was entertaining. It was probably one of the more
- 11:55entertaining weekends. Any time you throw rain into the
- 11:59mix, you're always going to get that wild card effect where that
- 12:02person that's usually finishing in 88th place has the
- 12:05opportunity to finish in the top six or seven and they start
- 12:09doing crazy things because they're getting so close to the
- 12:11podium. So I I enjoyed it.
- 12:13I enjoyed Saturday, I enjoyed Sunday.
- 12:16I honestly, I think the the right rider won on Saturday,
- 12:20right rider won on Sunday. In all the classes I didn't see.
- 12:24Yeah, I didn't see any penalties, bro.
- 12:25And I'm not blind. I just, we'll go into more
- 12:28detail, but I think that a lot of people that are complaining
- 12:31about penalties and this and that don't realize that Mark
- 12:35Marquez reads the rule book constantly and is always finding
- 12:40ways to piss Simon Krafer off. Come.
- 12:44On Did you get Roofie this weekend, man?
- 12:48No, no, no, 100% sober. But I honestly think that Mark
- 12:54Marquez wakes up every morning looking at the rule book, trying
- 12:57to find some way that Gray zone where he's like, I'll make Simon
- 13:02Craifar's life for miserable for fucking me with that penalty at
- 13:05the beginning of the year all. Right.
- 13:06So you got, you got that Reese got the Jordan rule where it's
- 13:11just, you know, and I forget what TJ said, he may have said
- 13:15he might have said something similar.
- 13:16But when we go to our first track day, when we go to race,
- 13:19if we get an accident, right, and if we can get back up and
- 13:24we're safe, get off the track, wait for someone to tell us what
- 13:27to do. And yes, there was.
- 13:31Wait a second. Wait.
- 13:32Wait before you do that. Last time last last week when we
- 13:36waited for a track Marshall to tell us what to do, we ended up
- 13:40getting a not actively competing and got fucked.
- 13:44Right, right, right. Again, the rules don't get
- 13:47applied evenly. Well, this one should have been
- 13:50because he's also passed the pen entry, right?
- 13:54I'm just saying, but I'm just, I'm just I'm.
- 13:56Just we're not reading the rules.
- 13:58I'm I'm going based on what they teach us when we go to pretty
- 14:01much every club racing. Track day.
- 14:04Track day companies don't use the Dorner rule book.
- 14:08What is that? There's no Marshall to tell you
- 14:10don't move. You can do what you want to do.
- 14:13No, no, the rule book did say as long as it's a certain length,
- 14:18pit in. Lane is a certain length so he
- 14:21did pit in. He did not.
- 14:26So the rules are very weird in this one particular area because
- 14:32there's courtesy rules. So obviously at the last moment
- 14:36you're not going to cut across the track to pit in.
- 14:39Like the courtesy rule throughout racing and everywhere
- 14:41else is. Do you know you're going to pit
- 14:42in, you're going to put a hand up or foot out, you're going to
- 14:44get off the racing line and you're going to merge into the
- 14:47pit out lane. That line that's painted there
- 14:50is for reference. That's not a line on the highway
- 14:54that you're not supposed to cross.
- 14:56You can't. Cross that lane, as long as when
- 15:00you get into the pit lane area, you reduce your speed to the 60
- 15:05kilometers an hour. So Mark Marquez wasn't doing
- 15:08more than 60 kilometers an hour when he crossed into pit out.
- 15:12So technically so. So so so so.
- 15:15Let me. Ask you this guy.
- 15:18So next time I changed my mind, I, I should just, you know, pull
- 15:22off to the right, wait for traffic to go and then shoot
- 15:25across the the hot track and go to pit lane.
- 15:28Did you crash? Only if I crashed, that's the.
- 15:32Only if you crash. Only if you crash, and only if
- 15:34you're actually in a race that's making me money.
- 15:37If you crash in a track that you do that, you're going to catch a
- 15:39hot ass whooping in the paddock. I don't think the rule book says
- 15:43only if you crash you could do that.
- 15:48Let's go. Let's go rule by rule, because
- 15:50there's really 4 rules in play here.
- 15:52The first rule is the legal pit entry.
- 15:55How do you legally enter the pit?
- 15:58The only rule for entry in the pit is you can't exceed 60
- 16:01kilometers an hour. Got you.
- 16:03It doesn't say you can't. Let's say I'm going through the
- 16:07pit loop and I lose a little bit of traction and I end up in the
- 16:11grass and I came back into the pit loop.
- 16:13I don't get penalized as long as I don't exceed 60 miles an hour.
- 16:16So if he crosses across the grass to get into the pit in
- 16:19loop, he really didn't. There's no rule that says you
- 16:23can't do that. Suspect.
- 16:25It's suspect. I'm not saying it's not suspect.
- 16:27This is this is the greatest, this is the deepest grade that
- 16:31you can get grade. So like if you're on one side,
- 16:34you can, you can have a good argument.
- 16:36You're on the other side, you can have a good argument.
- 16:38The next rule is, did he do? Was he acting in a dangerous
- 16:43way? Yes.
- 16:45No, because he looked to make sure there was no one coming
- 16:51when he cut across the track. So as long as you look and you
- 16:54make an act like if he just jumped back on a track without
- 16:57looking, that's dangerous. He waited till the pack went by,
- 17:01he saw an opening, and he went across the track.
- 17:04Technically again, Gray area, mad Gray.
- 17:10This is this is that sweater Gray that your girl steals from
- 17:13you every winter. That's that Gray.
- 17:16That Gray hoodie that gets stolen every winter.
- 17:18That's the color we're talking about.
- 17:20Your sweater anymore so it's not even.
- 17:21Not your sweater anymore. Next rule.
- 17:26Did he get any substantial advantage?
- 17:28Yes. How did he get a substantial
- 17:31advantage? He didn't gain any places if.
- 17:33He if he didn't crash, he would have, he would have been around
- 17:36another lap and all those riders that pitted the right way, he
- 17:40would have, he would have missed out on.
- 17:43But here's the thing, he didn't crash after the actual pit
- 17:48entrance. He crashed before the pit
- 17:51entrance. He didn't go backwards and go
- 17:55forwards. He kind of started the bike and
- 17:57went across the track. It was kind of like a he kind of
- 18:00went back. It was kind of like A18/90.
- 18:05Kind of like a less than sign kind.
- 18:07Of he had actually made the corner and passed pit entrance
- 18:11and then gone back and gone into pit entrance.
- 18:14Now it would be an an advantage because you need to complete
- 18:16that lap. You didn't need to, all right,
- 18:18all. Right, so I and the.
- 18:20Last part is interpretation of the rules by the track Stewart
- 18:25and the last thing Simon Crafer wants is the ire.
- 18:31So. So of the entire Spanish country
- 18:34inharez. I know that.
- 18:36Fucking Marcus. Sorry, touch on the Jordan rule
- 18:40because I guess that's the, that's.
- 18:41The Jordan rule. That's the Jordan rule.
- 18:44I mean, you know, you couldn't. Jordan can touch you, but you
- 18:47couldn't touch him. And you know, he could do
- 18:49certain things and you couldn't do it because like Lewis said,
- 18:53he was the one making you, making you money.
- 18:59He was the one selling tickets you know of.
- 19:03His bike not shutting off him like keeping control and I'm
- 19:08able to because like if his bike turned off and he had to like
- 19:11jump start it, I've probably been a different outcome, but.
- 19:14Well, because if your bike shuts off, you need, yeah, your bike
- 19:17shuts off. You got to go behind the wall,
- 19:19right? Right.
- 19:20Yeah, there's not a do not shut off switch that they've all put
- 19:23in since, because since this rule's been in play, there's.
- 19:25No, there's no tip over sensors anymore on any bikes.
- 19:31Saying nobody could turn off anymore.
- 19:33Any of the classes all stay running now.
- 19:38I don't know, just look, like Marcus says.
- 19:41I'm just in the right place at the right time.
- 19:43I'm telling you, it's, it's sometimes he's on the good side
- 19:47of things. Sometimes he's on bad side of
- 19:49things. If you're a Marques fan, you
- 19:51look at this as a positive. You're not a Marques fan.
- 19:54You look at this as a negative. With that said, the same thing
- 19:57that he did at CODA, he, he interprets the rules in a way
- 20:01where he finds the Gray zones and he takes advantage of the
- 20:04Gray zones. He did it at CODA last year.
- 20:06And what did Dorna do? Dorna actually had to implement
- 20:09a new rule to make that Gray zone black and white.
- 20:13And I'm sure after this event, I mean apparently I think already
- 20:16filed the protest. Where they want to define the
- 20:19rules more black and white on what is entering the pit.
- 20:24Where is it that you're actually entering the pit?
- 20:27And if you cross across a solid line or do this and that,
- 20:30technically it's an infraction and you should get either a time
- 20:33penalty or a grid penalty the next race.
- 20:36Yeah, no, I mean, I think, I think, you know, Aprilia has the
- 20:39right to do that because, you know, I think who knows?
- 20:43But from what I can tell, it seems like Aprilia's been
- 20:45playing fair and square and they had a black eye all most of last
- 20:50year until Bizecki started doing well.
- 20:53And they're like this, you know, the, the, the Cinderella right
- 20:57story in a sense. And now you're trying to really
- 20:59squash that story because of your own, you know, doing, for
- 21:03lack of a better word, Ducati. And I got two of them.
- 21:05But you know, I've been complaining about things since
- 21:08last year. Let's let's let's talk about the
- 21:11beginning of the of the, of the race.
- 21:12Let's talk because qualifying and just Friday between the
- 21:15weather, I mean, this is the second round where weather has
- 21:19been huge. Even the weather was in in in
- 21:21Austin a little bit, but definitely in Brazil.
- 21:25And and now we saw saw that, you know, it's good to see Zarko up
- 21:29there qualifying the way he did and fought the way he fought.
- 21:33But let's talk about qualifying, what you guys see and you know,
- 21:36is it just luck that happened or some of these riders just know
- 21:40how to handle changes better? We start with TJ.
- 21:45Well, as far as qualifying or. Qualifying, man.
- 21:48You know what? I'm saying I mean 2.
- 21:51You. Know Friday in general, I guess
- 21:53the Friday. I mean, Friday in general was a
- 21:56was a was a was was, you know, the first practice.
- 21:59Everyone filled it out like the VR 46 guys were looking good,
- 22:03Digi and and Mobideli. But yeah, go lead them into Q1.
- 22:11I mean, it's good to see Zarko come out of Q1 and actually do
- 22:16what he did the weekend. I feel like he was able to hold
- 22:20his own in both conditions. I mean, even Brad Bende, he had
- 22:25a solid weekend. We don't hear his name a lot,
- 22:28but I think he was close to top ten each race.
- 22:31Believe you know. What?
- 22:33I think you're right. I'm going to check.
- 22:35I think you're right. Like I think he.
- 22:37Yeah, I think you're right there.
- 22:39Go ahead. I mean, the Yamahas is still
- 22:42struggling, but I mean, going into Q2, I mean, to see, you
- 22:49know, Mark, obviously you want to see him win.
- 22:53So he, he did what he had to do and it was good to see Digi back
- 22:57on his feet. You know, haven't heard his name
- 22:59in a in a couple races. So you know, he's been doing a
- 23:03lot better, but VR46 and obviously a Prairie has been up
- 23:07there and then and Zarko definitely did his thing this
- 23:11weekend because I haven't heard his name also.
- 23:13So it was good to see a little shake up.
- 23:16But the weather conditions definitely put the limits to a
- 23:19lot of riders to see what they can do and the Ducatis look good
- 23:24in the rain. So but in the dry they still
- 23:28struggling. Yeah, they, they, they struggled
- 23:32a bit for some for some strange reason.
- 23:35Mary, any thoughts on the weekend?
- 23:37Was you surprised at, at, at who you were surprised at the
- 23:40weekend? Because we will, you know,
- 23:42Friday practice and, and Q1 and Q2 because, you know, we talked
- 23:47before the weekend and, and now, you know, I, I didn't expect
- 23:51Alex Marquez to do what he did, but you know, he found a way on
- 23:55Sunday. But what are you, what are your
- 23:56thoughts about Friday practice and and Q1 and Q2?
- 23:59I mean, I was definitely surprised by Alex.
- 24:01Alex was surprising because if you heard in a press conference,
- 24:04he didn't think he was going to go back-to-back.
- 24:06He was like, there's no way he can do repeat what he did last
- 24:09year at her as when he won and now he won again.
- 24:14So he didn't think he can do that.
- 24:16And you know, coming in to Jerez, he wasn't that he he was
- 24:22really nowhere to be found. So him saying that he stopped
- 24:27looking at the negatives of the 26 GP and started looking at the
- 24:31positives changed his whole mindset.
- 24:33It actually helped him out and turned his whole game changing
- 24:36around. You know, I was surprised by
- 24:39him. I was definitely surprised by Al
- 24:42Gora. He actually stepped up and was
- 24:44surprisingly fast this weekend. The I was definitely surprised
- 24:50at Johann Zarko. There was a couple people I was
- 24:53surprised with that actually started pushing along and
- 24:57started coming along very fast, so it was actually a surprise.
- 25:02Yeah, I, I, I, I agree with you there.
- 25:04And I agree. I had, I had them.
- 25:06I mean, I know the weather and the, and the changes on Saturday
- 25:09conditions definitely kind of screwed some guys who were
- 25:12favored. But you know what they say brave
- 25:17or something favors the brave or something.
- 25:19Lewis, man, what are your thoughts, man?
- 25:22Practice and Q1Q2. I mean, for practice, the first
- 25:27two practices, I think it, you know, the, the format now is
- 25:32really making every single session so important.
- 25:35You know, you can't go out in FP1 and FP2 and screw around
- 25:39because if you get, if you, if you end up in queue, if you end
- 25:44up having to go through Q1 to Q2 because your FP1 and your FP 2
- 25:50times kind of relegate you there.
- 25:52And then you get some weather conditions to mix in.
- 25:55You can miss out on a lot. You can end up really far back
- 25:58in the grid and you could have a really bad start or you could
- 26:01have a bad grid position, or there's so many things that can
- 26:04happen now. And this new format is really
- 26:07making Free Practice 1 and Free Practice 2 so important.
- 26:12And I don't know if it's for the for the betterment or the
- 26:15detriment of the riders because now they can't really play
- 26:18around too much for the entire session with settings and so
- 26:22forth, because they do have to put in some hot laps to be able
- 26:26to get a good time. So, you know, I like the format
- 26:30of having Q1 and Q2 because I used to hate having this
- 26:33qualifying session where you had 10 rolling roadblocks and 10
- 26:36dudes that were like clearly going significantly faster.
- 26:39And they have to work their way around this slower traffic and
- 26:42it impedes them into bad position sometimes.
- 26:45But I also look a little bit at the negative or where if
- 26:48somebody has a bad FP1, let's say I go out, I have a
- 26:51mechanical FP, one is shot, I have no time, and then I go in
- 26:55FP2 and the best I can do is so much because I lost all of FP1.
- 27:00Now I'm relegated to having to go through both qualifying
- 27:03sessions to try to get up there in the grid.
- 27:05And then the, God forbid, you know, there's a rain or
- 27:08something during qualifying. Now you know, again, I'm being
- 27:12put in even a more difficult position.
- 27:14So come to race day, I'm starting from a grid position
- 27:16that really I shouldn't be starting from, but I am.
- 27:19Right, right. Because.
- 27:19Yeah, because on Friday we had Alex Marquez, top of the food
- 27:23chain, Diggy Abez, Mark Marquez, Aye, Gura or Gura Bagnaya, Raul,
- 27:32You know, there was some, there was some really good top guys
- 27:34and then, you know, weather came into play on.
- 27:36Saturday and just throws a grenade in there and everybody,
- 27:39you know, everybody's all over the place.
- 27:41I still, you know, I still think the guys that are really good at
- 27:45mixed conditions riding in the dry, riding in the wet, they're
- 27:48always going to find their way in the pack to get to the front.
- 27:51So that's why anytime you see like rain or mixed conditions,
- 27:54it's usually the the usual suspects you you'll see a Mark
- 27:57Marquez upfront, you'll see a Johann Zarko upfront, you'll see
- 28:00a Bender. You see all these guys that are
- 28:02a little bit more proficient in mixed conditions and rain, but
- 28:08then if you put it dry, some of those guys are all the way at
- 28:10the bottom. Right.
- 28:11But in this instance, we didn't see that.
- 28:13I was just, you took the words out of my mouth.
- 28:15I was going to ask which really, which one of these wet weather
- 28:18specialist was the most disappointing because we got
- 28:20Marquez, we got Johan, but no one else.
- 28:23There's no the Bender wasn't there, Miller wasn't there.
- 28:27I know Top Rock is new to Moto GP, but he's still nice in the
- 28:32wet. Are you surprised that these
- 28:35guys weren't the ones that were rising to the top?
- 28:38Like, you know, because you know, you look at Martina, Alex
- 28:41and some of these other guys that got got out the queue too.
- 28:47It was surprising to not see some of the usual suspects in
- 28:49the mixed conditions doing a little bit better.
- 28:52I mean, we still had Zarco. We have Marquez, but outside and
- 28:55Bender. You know, Bender's always been
- 28:56known for being a wet rather specialist and he was up there
- 28:59in the Sprint during the rain. Right, right.
- 29:02During the race but not in queue.
- 29:03Not in queue. Yeah.
- 29:04Yeah. But you know, again, the, the,
- 29:07the wet weather specialists always find that way and if they
- 29:10have the right timing and they're, you know, if it's full
- 29:12wet, they're going to get that extra advantage.
- 29:15But that's, that's what I enjoy about these mixed condition
- 29:18weekends sometimes. Like, I don't want the whole
- 29:20weekend to be a washout, but if it rains on Saturday and it's
- 29:22dry on Sunday, I kind of like it because you get a Little Mix of
- 29:25everything. So, OK, all right, guys, you you
- 29:27heard Lewis's take guys on on, you know, the wet weather guys.
- 29:31Let's talk about race. Let's print race.
- 29:35I mean, with four laps to go and I'm sitting here thinking like,
- 29:41all right, they're going to red flag this thing.
- 29:43They know where they're going to all of a sudden call flag to
- 29:46flag with four laps to go. But they did and I didn't think
- 29:50it was going to rain as much as it did, but it did.
- 29:53So we'll start with TJ, man. What are your thoughts about
- 29:55that? You know, the Sprint race
- 29:57overall, because it was crazy in the big end.
- 29:59It like, you know, tell me what your thoughts, man, because it
- 30:01was the whole thing was wild. Yeah, I might have to go back in
- 30:04the Rolodex and I don't know when the last time I seen a flag
- 30:08to flag in the Sprint race. I know sprints is kind of new to
- 30:11Moto GP, but man, like you said, with four laps to go, it was
- 30:18just started drizzling in certain parts of the tracks.
- 30:20So you think they've like whoever's in front will have
- 30:24time to get around or you know, 'cause it's just 4 laps to go
- 30:27that that wasn't the case. People falling left and right.
- 30:30And not only that, like I was listening to the intro before
- 30:34when I went on the grid, but I missed the part that the rain
- 30:37was coming. So I don't know if they
- 30:39mentioned that what, 11 laps I think it was.
- 30:43They didn't know like that. That is very tricky, you know,
- 30:47to try to pull up that wet weather specialist that you have
- 30:50in you to to make it fair game because like, you know, full GP
- 30:54race, you have time to manage. But before last to go the
- 30:59strategies that these teams got to pull out was pretty crazy.
- 31:03And I mean, I don't think it was a strategy with Mark Marquez.
- 31:06That was just a fortunate situation, but at least Pekko
- 31:10got a, you know, dub out of it as well.
- 31:13But yeah, it was, it was, it was crazy with four laps to go, how
- 31:15they had to switch bikes in. I'm glad they didn't call it
- 31:18because, you know, it makes a lot.
- 31:19It's really interesting. Yeah, I'm, I'm, I'm glad they
- 31:23didn't call it either because we would have missed out on on the
- 31:26craziness that happened. Reese, man, what are what are
- 31:28your thoughts? You saw it.
- 31:30I'm I'm pretty sure you've had a similar situation in Motor
- 31:32America. I mean, we haven't had that kind
- 31:35of craziness. I mean, normally we get 2/3 and
- 31:37they calling it. So we we don't unfortunately
- 31:40have a backup bike for, you know, wet weather.
- 31:44You know, we have to switch the whole bike to wet set up.
- 31:48But I mean, I know they did call it because I think it was like
- 31:53right when they were getting ready to the green flag, they
- 31:57actually switched to the pit and you can see the crew guys
- 32:00bringing the rain bike out and getting it set up and having it
- 32:03ready for a flag to flag and just in case it is a flag to
- 32:05flag. So I mean, I'm glad they didn't
- 32:10call it. It made for one hell of a show.
- 32:13So but I mean, 4 laps to go, it was kind of crazy.
- 32:18I mean, like you said, it was just did not see some of the
- 32:22specialist guys up there, the wet weather specialist.
- 32:24You know, I thought Jack would have been up there.
- 32:26I thought top rack would have been up there.
- 32:28Been there. You know, I'm glad to see Zarko
- 32:32and everybody, but I would have loved to see those guys take
- 32:35advantage. But it was, it was one of those
- 32:40conditions where in the beginning it was wet, but it
- 32:46wasn't wet enough for the rain tires because they would have
- 32:49got chewed up so bad and they didn't know if it was going to
- 32:51rain as heavy. And then it started raining
- 32:54really heavy. So it was just a weird
- 32:56situation. So if I think if it would have
- 32:58started raining real heavy, I think we just saw a different
- 33:00kind of outcome with, you know, those guys.
- 33:04Right, right, Lewis, man. I mean, Bizecki out Martine out
- 33:09Top Rock, Alex Marquez, your boy Mayor Salvador, who was taken
- 33:16out by Top Rock, which was I saw that.
- 33:18I'm like, bro, you're not stopping that bike.
- 33:24What are your thoughts man on the spin race?
- 33:27I mean, the Sprint was pretty wild right from the beginning,
- 33:31right from Alex Marquez taking his tear off off and getting it
- 33:35stuck on her Bazecki's tire. Like it?
- 33:38Go ahead. It seems to happen at least once
- 33:40a year. Where, you know, they changed
- 33:43the rule where you can't take the tear off on once you're in
- 33:47the the grid position. And you know, so if you look
- 33:51where Alex took it off, he took it off just as he's coming
- 33:53around the last corner. So technically he's not in the
- 33:55grid position and he just kind of flicks it.
- 33:58And for some reason tear offs have this incredible
- 34:01gravitational pull to the rear tire of motorcycles because they
- 34:05always end up under the rear tires of motorcycles.
- 34:09I don't know what the hell it is.
- 34:11I don't know if it's the aerodynamics package or what it
- 34:14is, but man, as soon as that thing got loose from the upper
- 34:17fairing winglet, it literally went straight to the rear tire.
- 34:22And so Bazecki's race was going to be shot right from that point
- 34:27forward. And when as soon as he started
- 34:28to push, it was just a matter of time that he was going to go
- 34:31down with the conditions getting worse and mixed conditions and
- 34:34everything else. Johan Meer, I mean, I think now
- 34:38he is well on his way to establishing a new record for
- 34:42total amounts of crashes over like a 24 month period.
- 34:45I think he's well into his dude. He's got to be in the 30s of
- 34:52crashes in total, maybe even in the 40s, which is insane.
- 34:57Alec Marquez, he's usually a little bit better in the rain.
- 35:00So I was kind of surprised that he went down.
- 35:02But again, I I wasn't really surprised because you could tell
- 35:04he's really pushing the issue instead of kind of like letting
- 35:08the race come to him. And yeah, the the top rack
- 35:11Salvadori crash that that was in the race is the second the
- 35:15handlebar touched the ground that was in the race, so.
- 35:18Yeah, yeah, I, yeah, I, I thought Alex, he went down
- 35:23before going to change tires, right.
- 35:26Yeah, yeah. He went down on lap eight.
- 35:27Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 35:28He went down before the tire change.
- 35:31Thing he stayed a little bit too long.
- 35:33Yeah, yeah, he, he pushed it a little bit like he thought I
- 35:36was. I could get one more lap out of
- 35:38this, maybe get a little bit more room to breathe so I can
- 35:42fit. And he got all the room he
- 35:44wanted because after that he went to the garage and had a
- 35:47sandwich because he wasn't going back in the track.
- 35:49Yeah. And, you know, I think, you
- 35:50know, Fermin Aldeghir, another guy that waited too long,
- 35:55probably Bastionini, some of these guys that wait a little
- 35:58bit too long to get out there. But we talked about a little bit
- 36:02with Mark. You know, Mark was on point with
- 36:04that one, right? And, you know, I mean back now,
- 36:06you mean coming from 18th to finish second.
- 36:10He led for a couple of laps. There's only a few of us still
- 36:13kind of looked up and go. I remember them days.
- 36:18I think that might have been only you.
- 36:22I don't think from I don't think so.
- 36:24But then Mark, Pastor and I remember.
- 36:26And then we all said, oh, I remember those days.
- 36:28Those days. Those are the more recent days.
- 36:33He and Mobindeli got up on the podium.
- 36:35Yeah, yeah. What did you guys think of
- 36:38Mobindeli? Well, let's talk about the
- 36:39Ducati's in the Sprint. What do you think of Mobindeli's
- 36:42acceptance speech? And, and, and, and I'm saying
- 36:45this trophy goes out to the people that feel like, you know,
- 36:50they don't, they don't have a chance.
- 36:54He knows it's his last one, but he put it, he put it in a well
- 36:58said version. It's just more of to always go
- 37:02out there and compete no matter what you do because you never
- 37:05know. But in his sake, you know, like
- 37:09that's the only way he's going to win.
- 37:10But right, there may be something going on there with
- 37:14him we don't know about. But anything else you want to
- 37:17talk about the Sprint before we talk about the main rest, TJ?
- 37:21I mean, it was it was definitely going to be an icon race.
- 37:26So we're going to be watching that for years and it's a nice
- 37:29short race, but definitely going to have to watch that again
- 37:32before the week's over. No, I feel, I feel really good
- 37:36for Bender because that's the highest he's gotten in a long
- 37:40time. I'll be in the top KTM.
- 37:42They got to feel good under those circumstances.
- 37:45Yeah. Reese, what are your thoughts on
- 37:47over Delhi's talk? And as they say, you know, you
- 37:51know when people say you know, well, so and so didn't crash,
- 37:54this person would have won, but you got you got to finish,
- 37:56right. You got to finish.
- 38:00But with his speech, I think it was more of like, I don't know
- 38:04what to say. And this is for everyone already
- 38:07counting me out. And I already know I'm done
- 38:09because he already knows he's done.
- 38:10He knows he's not being resigned.
- 38:12He knows his days are at, you know, 26 is his last year here
- 38:16in the chief here. And he knows he should have been
- 38:18gone a long time ago, but for nobody believing in him.
- 38:22So he just tried to make the speech work.
- 38:25And I'm like, yeah, it's not really working for me, buddy.
- 38:29Yeah, I, I, I will go ahead. No, no, no, it was, I'm just
- 38:33saying I don't, but you know, for, you know, him winning.
- 38:36I mean, it was that was literally the luck of the Irish.
- 38:40Yeah. I mean, you know, we could say
- 38:41that for a few of them for sure, but you got to you got to be in
- 38:46the right place as the right at at the right time.
- 38:48You think he'll go to World Super Bike?
- 38:51I mean, I believe he will. I mean that's the next stop for
- 38:54him. I think, you know, maybe he can
- 38:57re energize his career a little bit and do a little bit better
- 39:00over there than he does, maybe be better on a production bike
- 39:03versus a prototype, you know, right.
- 39:05Right, right, right. I hear.
- 39:07I hear you there, man. I hear you there, Lewis, man.
- 39:11What are your thoughts, man? On on the Sprint, Moby Deli, you
- 39:15know. Hey, he might have been.
- 39:19I've been rooting for morbidity a long time.
- 39:21I had to get off the train because he just kept letting me
- 39:24down too much. But I still root for the guy.
- 39:26Like I don't wish him any kind of.
- 39:28I think with his limited English, this is kind of a way
- 39:33of him saying thank you to all my haters, you know, like in his
- 39:39own way of saying it, this was really, this goes out to all my
- 39:42haters that keep because he was like, you know, for the people
- 39:45that keep getting pushed down, he's really talking about
- 39:47himself. People keep, you know, kind of
- 39:49pushing him down, saying he doesn't belong in the paddock
- 39:51this and that. So it's good to see him on the
- 39:55podium. It's good to see him
- 39:56competitive. Obviously it was in the rain.
- 39:58So there's like a little bit of a, you know, I'm not going to
- 40:00say a little asterisk, but there's a little half asterisk
- 40:02next to it. I would like to see him on the
- 40:05podium one or two more times before the end of this year
- 40:07because he is one of those guys that's on a chopping block.
- 40:11And as sad as it's going to be for him to leave the paddock, I
- 40:14think there's another Brazilian there and there's other people
- 40:19coming up. So it's not, you know, it's,
- 40:21it's almost like, hey, we met our Brazilian quota, it's time
- 40:24for you to go. I, I, I, I kind of feel like
- 40:26that, you know what I mean? It just, you know, I kind of
- 40:29feel like that. But yeah, it is.
- 40:33I think he has a point. MOBA Deli has a point when it
- 40:36comes to when he was on the factory seat and got injured,
- 40:39when he got the VR46 and and started getting those silly
- 40:44penalties. I mean, that's all his own
- 40:45doing. No way around that part of it.
- 40:49And I think a lot of us kind of just kind of say, all right,
- 40:52bro, we can't keep singing your song when you keep shooting
- 40:55yourself in the foot. I mean, I still think he's one
- 40:59of the top 20 fastest guys in the world.
- 41:02Oh, for sure. For sure you know like that you
- 41:04know this guy can show up pretty much anywhere and if he's on a
- 41:07competitive bike, he's probably going to clean up the field
- 41:11well. Do I want him to go to world
- 41:12super bike? To be honest with you, man, I, I
- 41:14would really, there's no incentive for him and there's no
- 41:18monetary reason to do it. But it would be great if
- 41:21somebody in Moto America, in the paddock that has a competitive
- 41:25bike hired him to be in Moto America, to be very honest with
- 41:29you. Yeah, no, he's not going to do.
- 41:31That, no. But you know what, I think if
- 41:33his choices are going back to the CCIV or the Italian
- 41:37championship or the Spanish championship, because he did
- 41:40come from the Italian championship, yeah.
- 41:41He'd probably take Bulliger's feet.
- 41:44Or if Bulaga even gets a ride in Moto GP, because I mean, right
- 41:50now that's, that's an ongoing fight trying to get Bulaga into
- 41:54a seat because this team doesn't want him.
- 41:56That team doesn't want him unless they get concessions from
- 41:58Ducati. And this, you know, there's a
- 42:00lot of moving pieces on trying to get Bulaga into Moto GP.
- 42:04OK, OK. But if he if he does get the
- 42:07Buluga ride, I think he'll do not as good as Buluga initially,
- 42:11but I think he can get up to a Buluga status.
- 42:13I think he's that kind of a talent.
- 42:14I would say he'd probably be the best Moto GP rider in a long
- 42:18time in world Super bike to come in if he if he goes there right,
- 42:23Because all those other guys were I, I always compare it to
- 42:27Moto 2 because you know, you, you always remember when you
- 42:29were kicking somebody's ass and he was doing that all day long
- 42:34to everybody. But again, man, if somebody in
- 42:37the Motor America paddock has a competitive bike and since
- 42:39squeezed together a couple 100 grand to pay him to come out
- 42:42here and race, if there's an opportunity for him to make more
- 42:46money via bonuses, contingencies and everything else, I honestly
- 42:51think if he doesn't get a World super bike ride, that's that
- 42:54would be an opportunity. I mean, imagine if he started,
- 42:56you know, giving sticky notes to a guy we know that worked for a
- 42:59Motor America team that he can just kind of leave every once in
- 43:02a while he goes to the track and we might be able to make that
- 43:05what happened if we only knew a guy like that.
- 43:07We knew a guy. I don't know who y'all talking
- 43:10about. I ain't got no guys for y'all.
- 43:13I don't think our bill can fit the budget on Crash.
- 43:17This penalty is not crashes but. This penalty is not crashes.
- 43:21Is is is, you know, how many guys can he punt into the third
- 43:27row before mode America starts getting black flagging him?
- 43:32I don't think we can front that bill.
- 43:35No, I don't I don't know about that.
- 43:36We'll see. We wish him well.
- 43:38I definitely wish him well and and it's tough when a new one is
- 43:42is leaving the, you know, the the top level of any sport.
- 43:47But let's talk about the main race guys.
- 43:49We saw the silliness, the I, you know, I, I set up earlier all,
- 43:53all day for our, our little game we have going on here and stuff
- 43:59like that. So after seeing Saturday, I was
- 44:02just kind of like a man. I don't, I don't know.
- 44:04But they, they definitely look good on Sunday.
- 44:07It seemed like to a degree between Ducati and Aprilia, the
- 44:11rioters made a difference to where we had the 1234, maybe
- 44:16even 5. And we had that many, not that
- 44:18many changes, but the two changes in manufacturers.
- 44:20We start with TJ Mann. What what what you think on on
- 44:23Sunday GP race? No, it was it was definitely an
- 44:28exciting start. It's like to see Marco down so
- 44:31early, trying to keep up. His brother definitely had a
- 44:35faster pace. And I mean, yeah, he just wanted
- 44:38to win. But the prey is definitely
- 44:41looking good. It was good to see.
- 44:43Like, you know, I gore come from the little far back, you know,
- 44:47make his way past a couple of riders.
- 44:49I mean, like we were talking about Zarko was holding his own,
- 44:52but you know, as the race gone on, he kind of slipped back a
- 44:55little bit. So, you know, like Martine, Igor
- 44:59and Raul, they all, you know, seeing they go past them.
- 45:03But yeah, the the Prairie is doing really good.
- 45:06The battle is pretty tough between Ducati and the Prairie
- 45:09right now, but the Prairie got their their the one step up on
- 45:13them and all their riders are doing really well right now.
- 45:17So right, right. It it it sounds like it's safe
- 45:21to say Alex Marquez is faster than Digia on the Ducati and the
- 45:27Zeki's faster than Martine on the on the Aprilia.
- 45:33Yeah, I would say, I would say that for sure.
- 45:35I mean, you know, you can say certain races someone can be
- 45:38faster, but I would say overall I think that Zeki has that biked
- 45:44out and Martine's still learning.
- 45:46I mean, I think Bazecki's just kind of, you know, obviously
- 45:51this rain race, you know, is, is different aspect, but his
- 45:55sprints haven't been that great, you know, so, but I think
- 45:59overall I think Bazecki's faster and definitely Alex.
- 46:04Alex hasn't really shown himself this much this year, but
- 46:08hopefully this is a little start.
- 46:11We'll see about next round because I know Zarko going in
- 46:14the Honda. I know what happened last year
- 46:16of mine so we'll see if this helps.
- 46:19Zarko where he finished but the Ducati's and pretty is looking
- 46:24good right now. Yeah, that's what's up, man.
- 46:28I I think that, you know, it, it was pretty interesting to see
- 46:32Reese, man. I mean, I've been saying this
- 46:34forever. The younger brothers should be
- 46:36smashing the older brother in competition because that's how
- 46:39it should be. And I saw it this Sunday and I'm
- 46:41like, this has to go on for the rest of the season.
- 46:44He just going to Alex's finally, I'm stepping out of the shadow
- 46:48like Michael Jackson. Was it the pressure of Alex
- 46:52Marquez that caused Marc Marquez to crash?
- 46:54I can't even believe we'll be saying these things.
- 46:56Pressure, but something made them crash.
- 47:01I mean, you could say that, but I mean, if you look at the
- 47:03replay, look at his front tires and he and I don't even know
- 47:06what the heck, the front end just washed away.
- 47:09I mean, it's nice to see the younger brother, you know, smash
- 47:12the older brother and actually, you know, he's been fast.
- 47:15The younger brother was fast all weekend.
- 47:17So it was actually nice to see that.
- 47:21You know, it goes the same thing with my younger brother.
- 47:23You know, I like to see him destroy me in certain things,
- 47:27you know, but I don't I don't think it was a pressure with
- 47:31Mark. I mean, I think Mark thrives on
- 47:34that kind of pressure. You know, I don't even think
- 47:36that that actually gets to him at this point.
- 47:39You know, at this point, it's like what do you got to prove
- 47:41where you know he's he's in accomplish almost everything.
- 47:45You know, he's tied with Rossi. You know, he's tied one of the
- 47:48greats. He is one of the greats.
- 47:50You know, the comeback off of the injury can't go to another
- 47:53team and win the championship. I mean, that was a big stab
- 47:57right there. So what else do you have to
- 47:59accomplish? OK.
- 48:00So it's more just kind of like last year in the sense of just
- 48:03working out the gremlins in the beginning of the season.
- 48:07I think that's what it is. Sorted out because it's as he
- 48:10said, it was a mistake on his part because he did something
- 48:13different that time around. I think it was.
- 48:16I think it was just a dumb mistake.
- 48:20Front end washed out and that was it.
- 48:23That was the end of that race. No doubt, no doubt.
- 48:28Louis, what are your thoughts, man?
- 48:30Mark, Alex, Marquette. Back, back.
- 48:32I mean, I heard we we all heard him shouting.
- 48:35Alex, Alex, Alex. It's.
- 48:39It's the home round, half a second man.
- 48:41You know I always tell you and you're in your home round, you
- 48:44always find that little bit extra speed.
- 48:45Where is that speed the last 3-4 rounds?
- 48:49In this case though, I mean, there's a lot of Spaniards, man.
- 48:51He was only fast one. He he was, but he, you know, he
- 48:55was significantly faster. So you know, maybe he had a
- 49:00three quarter or one second home track advantage.
- 49:03Either way, like he did his job. He went out there, he did what
- 49:06he had to do. Now let's see if he can go back
- 49:08to being the Alex Marquez of last year that does doesn't have
- 49:12A1 flash weekend, but has this consistent pace where he's
- 49:15constantly in the top three, the top 4, you know, every weekend,
- 49:19week out, even throughout all the sessions, FP1FP2 qualifying.
- 49:24If he can kind of get back to that consistency level, like
- 49:27that's where we want to see him because last year that's where
- 49:32he was for 80% of the season. It's just after the summer break
- 49:36last year that he kind of really fell apart and started having a
- 49:39lot of problems. And you know, hopefully he got
- 49:43everything together. He's starting to figure out how
- 49:45to ride the bike with the, you know, accenting and using the
- 49:49positives and kind of understanding the negatives and
- 49:52getting the most out of the positives and minimizing the
- 49:56negatives. If he can do that, I think he's
- 49:58got a great opportunity. You know, he's one of those
- 50:00guys. He's one of those guys that we
- 50:02expect to be up there after last year.
- 50:03I don't expect this guy to finish outside of the top five
- 50:07at the end of the year. I agree.
- 50:09So, you know, now's the time for me or maybe sometimes you need
- 50:13some of these guys need to that European reset.
- 50:15They go to Europe, all of a sudden they're back at tracks.
- 50:18They like they're back at tracks.
- 50:19They know they're able to use some data that they've used in
- 50:22the past. They understand how these tracks
- 50:23layout. You know, at Aragon, he's
- 50:26usually very, very fast as well as well as a couple of other
- 50:29tracks in Europe. So let's see how everything goes
- 50:32throughout the European rounds. And once we leave the European
- 50:35rounds, that's when I think we get a little bit more clarity
- 50:39into what the season actually looks like.
- 50:41You know, you start this season not on Europe, you start the
- 50:46season in South America. You come to the US, you're
- 50:48traveling across the globe. You know, different time area,
- 50:52different time changes. You don't have your home fans,
- 50:55you don't have your family. Let's see what happens now that
- 50:58they're in Europe, now that everybody's on level footing and
- 51:02let's, you know, almost like a reset to the year.
- 51:04The first three races of the year were kind of like a warm up
- 51:08and now it's like the season's actually starting.
- 51:10All right. I don't like how that sound for
- 51:12the people who, but I'll, I'll let that slide.
- 51:16Let's talk about Ducati a little bit.
- 51:20We got Grassini 2026, we got VR462026 out shining the factory
- 51:27guys. What's up with that?
- 51:29We heard about the beef beginning, you know, between
- 51:32Gracie VR46 as far as who should be get and what.
- 51:36I mean, you know, they seem to have a leg to stand up to say,
- 51:40hey, maybe we should get 4 bikes next year because you know,
- 51:43we're beating you guys. Well, your thoughts on on that
- 51:46TJ? Is it too soon to even make
- 51:48noise? But like we got satellite guys,
- 51:51satellite teams, privateer teams, that's outshining the the
- 51:56factory teams. Yeah.
- 51:59I mean, I don't know how unusual this is.
- 52:01Usually the factory is always the one setting the example, but
- 52:05I think it's too early to panic. It's good to see that the
- 52:09satellite teams are doing well, but obviously the factory wants
- 52:12to, you know, be on top. I just think they're trying to
- 52:16figure something out. I think they're I think they're
- 52:20almost panicking because they could just see how strong a
- 52:23Pereira is. So, but I don't think it's AII
- 52:29think if if another couple of races go by and the satellite
- 52:32teams definitely, you know, hand it to the factories, then I
- 52:36think they don't have to worry. I don't think they have.
- 52:40To pay with you right. All right, Reese, man, listen to
- 52:42me. We're used to tasting that
- 52:43Prosecco, man. Now all of a sudden you're
- 52:45watching, you know, the the people that get parts after you
- 52:49just starting to drink the Prosecco.
- 52:51Got to kind of sting a little bit.
- 52:54You you agree with TJ as far as no need to worry they'll Ducati
- 52:58will figure it out or this is just kind of where we're at
- 53:01where tech, tech and and crews are able to compete with the
- 53:06factory guys. Oh yeah, I mean, it's definitely
- 53:09an inside rival. I mean, between the Satellite
- 53:12and the Factory boys, there's definitely a little bit of a
- 53:14rival because it happens even in our series.
- 53:18You definitely want to outshine them and beat them.
- 53:21So it definitely stings when you see them up there and none of
- 53:25your guys are there. So yeah, that definitely hurts.
- 53:28But as far as hitting the panic button, no, still too, way too
- 53:32early. You still got what I think 16.
- 53:35Some of it's still too many races left to be hitting the
- 53:38panic button just yet. And I think that when I just
- 53:42checked today with Mark is sitting 44 points out from
- 53:45first. So, I mean, you still got plenty
- 53:49of time, huh? You got plenty of time.
- 53:52Yeah, you got plenty of time. I mean, you still got Sprint
- 53:55races between Sprint and, you know, Sunday's race, you know,
- 53:59you still got plenty of time and it's only going to take just
- 54:03that one DNF to put you back up top.
- 54:06Yep, No, I I hear that. I hear that, Lewis, man.
- 54:10What are your thoughts, man? That all of a sudden parts start
- 54:12showing up late at Gracina NBA 40.
- 54:14You told me it's going to be here yesterday.
- 54:19I would not be surprised if chains start breaking all of a
- 54:22sudden. No man, it's still.
- 54:27It's still. We're we're 4 rounds into a 20
- 54:30round season. It's still too early to hit the
- 54:33emergency panic button. I mean, yeah, you want to see
- 54:35some results sooner than later, but it's still a little too
- 54:38early to hit the the panic button.
- 54:40We don't know what's going to happen as the season goes out.
- 54:43We don't know what, you know, God forbid injuries are going to
- 54:46pop up, what other technical issues are going to happen?
- 54:49I mean, there's still a lot of season to go.
- 54:51I still have the top seven guys in my list are still the top
- 54:56seven guys that I think are going to be there at the end of
- 54:58the season. You know that I don't think the
- 55:00names are going to be different. Maybe this the order will be
- 55:02different than I expected, but I think the top seven guys are
- 55:06going to be the top seven guys. I, you know, it's what the
- 55:12interesting part about this year is going to be is a lot of the
- 55:16teams are almost nobody has really released where they're
- 55:19going yet. A lot of guys have signed
- 55:21contracts and outside of one or two things that have leaked
- 55:23because riders are really pissed that they didn't get a ride.
- 55:27So you can. Stay right on air.
- 55:29They drop names like Dime dropping Yo don't come Yo.
- 55:34I'm telling you right now, do not rob a bank with Alex Renz.
- 55:38He is a dime dropper. They just say, but go ahead.
- 55:44They don't even have to say who did it.
- 55:46He'd be like, look, here's their phone number and address.
- 55:48You can go get them right now. I got him on camera.
- 55:52I took a picture of something. But you know, I think there's
- 55:58going to be once that next shoe drops, and I think it's going to
- 56:02drop once Dorna and the teams and Liberty finish their
- 56:07contracts, once their contracts as an organizational level are
- 56:10done, then you're going to see the team contracts.
- 56:13And once you see the team contracts, you might actually
- 56:16start to see some guys drop. Because if you're not going to
- 56:19be here next year, you ain't going to get the newest part.
- 56:21It's going to be like, hey, give Bazecki that really shiny new
- 56:25part and give that worn out shitty part to good old Jorge
- 56:29Martin. Because.
- 56:31He ain't going to be on his bike next year.
- 56:33Which is which which is, you know, it's it's it's the name of
- 56:36the game. So I mean I there's nothing that
- 56:38we can do about that part of it. What did you guys think?
- 56:42I mean, again, you know Didya and well, Didya is doing
- 56:46phenomenal, right? Because that's somebody who I
- 56:48didn't think we would be saying his name.
- 56:50We said he was struggling last year along with Morbidelli and
- 56:54we said it was one of those riders that may have to kind of
- 56:56save himself, but it looks like he might have a job next year
- 57:00the way he's been riding this season so far.
- 57:01So I was expecting Martine to be a bigger stand out, which he is.
- 57:05He's standing out, but Digit is doing it quietly and and, and
- 57:09doing it in a way where he's the top Ducati.
- 57:12So Martine can't even say that on Aprilia.
- 57:14What are your thoughts on what Digit is doing TJ?
- 57:19He's doing really well. I mean, what was it Turmos when
- 57:24he was fighting with Mark going back and forth?
- 57:28So he's been front running probably half of this season,
- 57:33but I think he's been doing really well.
- 57:36And I I agree with you, he's been very quiet about it, but
- 57:41hopefully we we keep seeing his name and him being the least top
- 57:45five because he definitely from his path.
- 57:49I think he definitely deserves it and I just, I just think he's
- 57:54going really well as far as starting the season.
- 57:57Yeah, no doubt, no doubt. Needs to be on the podium.
- 58:01Yeah, I agree. I agree.
- 58:02I mean, I, I if, if, if any guy in Ducati, I want to see when
- 58:05it's him because he has, I mean, he he didn't have the same
- 58:08luxury as a lot of these other guys coming into Moto GP and he
- 58:11had to earn his spot. It continue to earn it.
- 58:13I'm not to say they all don't, but some of these guys, you
- 58:16know, get enough credits that they can burn.
- 58:19They can burn a little bit of credit before they lose this
- 58:21spot. Well, the bird.
- 58:24What are your thoughts on Aprilia Reeves?
- 58:27I mean, Fernandez is, I mean, and we we all kind of know that
- 58:30Iagura looks to be leaving. So I mean, it looks like
- 58:35Fernandez is trying to be, you know, the number 3.
- 58:37Aprilia, what are your thoughts on what Fernandez and Agura is
- 58:41doing and and even Martine? Who the hell would have saw
- 58:46Fernandez coming that strong? Right.
- 58:49Like I've never in my life would have saw him.
- 58:52I thought he was a back marker but.
- 58:57Yeah. Yeah, but I mean, he's pulled
- 59:00out strong. I mean, he's trying to prove a
- 59:02point. Al Gora is still proving a
- 59:04point. I mean, he he passed Fernandez.
- 59:07He he he went up there and he was on a move on a charge.
- 59:13So I didn't see him leaving. I didn't think he would have.
- 59:18I thought he would have stayed, right?
- 59:20But apparently he wants to leave.
- 59:23I mean, as Lewis would tell you. I mean, it's something about
- 59:28that factory money and just sitting in that factory seat and
- 59:33getting every bit of little perk that everybody wants.
- 59:37Right, there's. Something about it.
- 59:39Must be man, because I mean, look, well, you know, Honda
- 59:43wanted him initially. He said, Nah, man, I don't want
- 59:46that ride went to Aprilia. Like he, he would have had a
- 59:50home at Aprilia for a long time and maybe even had a shot at a
- 59:53factory seat at Aprilia. I mean, I guess if Bagnaya is
- 59:56signing four year deals and and so is Bazecki, then I mean I
- 1:00:02guess you ain't got no choice but to go to to to Yamaha.
- 1:00:06I mean, you're right. I mean with those guys signing
- 1:00:09the factory deals already or you know, Bazecki signing a factory
- 1:00:13deal and so far as Bagnaya just hasn't been announced, you know,
- 1:00:18that could have set them off and said, you know, listen, I want a
- 1:00:20factory seat. They're going to offer me a
- 1:00:22factory seat. I'm out of here, you know, and
- 1:00:25you know, a lot of guys are saying about, you know, why
- 1:00:28Yamaha and like, but you know, again, as I said it before,
- 1:00:31we're going into a whole new era and no one knows what the heck
- 1:00:34anybody's going to do. So it's kind of everybody
- 1:00:36starting out on a blank canvas. Right, right.
- 1:00:39So, you know, you look at Lewis over here shaking his head, but
- 1:00:42it's about as blank as his head, you know?
- 1:00:47What are what are your thoughts Lewis, on that man?
- 1:00:50Should he have stayed? Should he have gone?
- 1:00:52I guess we'll be able to answer it at the end of next season.
- 1:00:56But I mean the the he's riding like he deserve a factory seat,
- 1:01:01it's fair to say. Yeah, he is, But you know,
- 1:01:04there's only so many factory seats.
- 1:01:06So if you get an opportunity for a factory seat, even if it's not
- 1:01:10on the best bike, sometimes you got to take and gamble on
- 1:01:15yourself and hope that your talent can at least make you the
- 1:01:19best at the worst bike. You know, look at Quadraro.
- 1:01:24Everybody wants Quadraro even though he's on the worst bike
- 1:01:27because they still know he's the best guy on the worst bike.
- 1:01:30If you put him on a good bike, he's going to be a significantly
- 1:01:33better. So if if you know where you're
- 1:01:36at now, you have 0 opportunity to get a factory ride for
- 1:01:40possibly 2-3 or four years, you already got to start thinking
- 1:01:45about your future. Man, do I really want to stay on
- 1:01:47this satellite bike, even though it's a competitive bike for
- 1:01:51another two years, making 30% of what I'd make if I went to a
- 1:01:55factory team today. Right, right.
- 1:01:58So it's not a popcorn. Yeah, man.
- 1:02:01A little bit. He might be the first Japanese
- 1:02:03rider on a Yamaha factory seat in a long time.
- 1:02:07Let's just say Yamaha bike in a long time.
- 1:02:09I don't even remember when there was the last time.
- 1:02:11Damn, when was the last time there was a Yamaha Moto GPI?
- 1:02:17Think little Redmond, somebody on a Cowie when Cowie was still
- 1:02:19in GP before, before what's his, what's his name that used to run
- 1:02:29America. Hopkins left and went to Yamaha
- 1:02:33who was on it before him. I think it was a, a Japanese
- 1:02:35writer that was on it. But no, there was a Yamaha.
- 1:02:38There was a guy, I think there was a guy on on, on on Yamaha
- 1:02:40too, but he might not have been on the factory seat unless it
- 1:02:44was on the Camel. But someone in the Yamaha was
- 1:02:46Camel. They had the, the camel paint.
- 1:02:49So it might, it was a, it was a minute ago.
- 1:02:51So that that'd be pretty impressive for next season.
- 1:02:55Let's talk like before we get out of here.
- 1:02:57It looks like the last one or full time rider, not the last
- 1:03:03full time rider was Noriyukiabe. Yeah, 2004, man.
- 1:03:08Yeah, it's a great first year for the thousands.
- 1:03:13What was that, 2002? I, I, I forget something.
- 1:03:18This is something it was a long time we got, it was a long time
- 1:03:21ago. It was a 2A, was still in TJ.
- 1:03:23Was still in TJ was still in diapers.
- 1:03:28And we did. We did rewatch our history over
- 1:03:32it was I think it was 2203. No, because Hayden came in in O
- 1:03:394, right? Yeah, yeah.
- 1:03:42Yeah. So I think it was already just a
- 1:03:44thousands then. Yeah, so.
- 1:03:45Yeah, yeah, yeah, I think it was.
- 1:03:47I think it was O2. I think, I think, I think it
- 1:03:50would be good for Yamaha to have a Japanese rider and, and, and
- 1:03:54to be honest with you, I mean, Agura is a quality rider.
- 1:03:59I think, I think he's a guy that you can keep on your team for a
- 1:04:02very long time. You can grow a team around him.
- 1:04:05And if he's on the right bike, I mean, who knows, man, He might
- 1:04:08be the first Japanese Moto GP champion in a long time.
- 1:04:13If Yamaha can actually put a package together, that's going
- 1:04:15to be competitive. It's it's it's also fair to say
- 1:04:19he's one of the most consistent guys, but since Pedro Acosta in
- 1:04:23a long time has come up the ranks from Moto 3 to Moto 2 to.
- 1:04:26GPI don't know if anybody else saw it, but this was horrible to
- 1:04:31get where Juan Mirror had a double lap penalty.
- 1:04:35Yeah, that's at least 5 to 8 seconds.
- 1:04:38Yeah, where you still caught up to the Yamaha guys and passed
- 1:04:45them and was catching Quadraro. I was like, yeah, this is bad.
- 1:04:51I don't know exactly what Quadraro had said, but I know he
- 1:04:54said something where he wasn't too happy.
- 1:04:57When I. Think, he said.
- 1:05:01I don't know the exact quote but I know he made a quote where he
- 1:05:05was like. Fuck this.
- 1:05:10Fucking bullshit. It's no.
- 1:05:17Fun hanging out at the back. So I mean, you're going to look
- 1:05:21at it all Yamaha guys, it was all three were the last guys
- 1:05:26besides caught the rail up in a little bit like couple more
- 1:05:29space up, but all three of them were the last three guys.
- 1:05:32That's horrible. Are they just trying to get just
- 1:05:36as much practice time as possible so they can work on the
- 1:05:388:50 just tanking it? I'm, well, I'm just, I'm that's
- 1:05:41what I'm wondering. I mean, isn't there like, isn't
- 1:05:44there a rule if you were that bad?
- 1:05:46It's almost like in the NFL when you throw the last couple of
- 1:05:49games to get the first round pick, if they do bad enough, do
- 1:05:52they get more concessions from Dorna next year to maybe do more
- 1:05:56testing or something? Because, I mean, that's what
- 1:05:59it's looking like right now, man.
- 1:06:01They're like, they're just tanking.
- 1:06:02They're like it's a tank job. Did they?
- 1:06:05Ever use the same engine? Just throw.
- 1:06:07Just throw the engine they got into the new bike because it
- 1:06:09seemed like the 856 is down. Well, I mean, you know, listen,
- 1:06:15let's let's, let's, let's, let's.
- 1:06:16This is a show. We should at least somewhat be
- 1:06:19analytical. When KTM came out, KTM, they
- 1:06:22were pretty bad too when they first came to Moto GP.
- 1:06:24Took them a while to sort it out.
- 1:06:27I mean, this is Yamaha's first year on the V4.
- 1:06:29Let's, let's, let's, let's make fun of them after year 3.
- 1:06:33They've been in Moto GP GP forever and they they won the
- 1:06:39shit box forever. They were a very very
- 1:06:42competitive bike. Them and Honda have the same
- 1:06:44curve. They were super competitive
- 1:06:45until they weren't competitive and now the neither one is
- 1:06:47competitive and Honda is actually becoming competitive.
- 1:06:51But Yamaha is still way behind the curve man.
- 1:06:54Like way like. They shouldn't be that far
- 1:06:56behind the curve is my feeling. OK.
- 1:06:59Right. But it's everybody's turn.
- 1:07:00Everybody has their shit box, as Lewis will say, time in a shit
- 1:07:04box and then the next, you know, couple years they'll end up
- 1:07:09coming up and then taking over. So it's everybody's turn to have
- 1:07:13a shit box because they Ducati wasn't doing nothing for a
- 1:07:17while. And then they all of a sudden,
- 1:07:20soon Gigi appears. Here they come.
- 1:07:22Right, all right, all right. Well, I I so go ahead.
- 1:07:28Aprilia was a shit box when it first came out.
- 1:07:32That's what I'm saying. So we so it's like, you know,
- 1:07:35the, you know, changes, you know, Yamaha has been around
- 1:07:39forever. So you know, the, the, the, the
- 1:07:41fleet is the fleet line is harder to turn around when
- 1:07:45you're that big, it's hard to be that nimble and stuff like that.
- 1:07:48So should we at least give them, you know, the grace of at least
- 1:07:51a year or they should sort it out a lot quicker like Honda?
- 1:07:57I mean, they've had quite a few years now where they've been
- 1:08:01significantly far back and not coming forward.
- 1:08:04When you bring facts like that, Lewis, you.
- 1:08:05Know, I think, I think the problem is sometimes the factory
- 1:08:09teams, these factory teams take too long to move pieces around.
- 1:08:17You know, they keep the team managers a little too long.
- 1:08:20They keep the lead engineers a little too long.
- 1:08:23They keep certain pieces a little too long.
- 1:08:26And, and, and one of the things you have to learn is sometimes
- 1:08:30you got to, you know, you got to change the pieces up, You know,
- 1:08:33you got to change the general manager, you got to change the
- 1:08:35head coach, you got to change the offensive coordinator.
- 1:08:39If if you're year after year you're seeing a slow decline,
- 1:08:43somebody above the racing manager at Yamaha should have
- 1:08:46told Lynn Jarvis, hey, it's time Lynn, it's time for you to go.
- 1:08:50Right, right. So you're saying they're no
- 1:08:51longer the Spurs or the Steelers?
- 1:08:56Right now they're the the New York Jets.
- 1:09:00I mean, man, that's bad. But no, no, no, they're I, I'll
- 1:09:05give you a better example. They're the Cowboys.
- 1:09:08They're the Jerry Jones that refuses to realize that he sucks
- 1:09:11at being a general manager and keeps getting shitty ass players
- 1:09:15and then keeps wondering why he doesn't win a championship.
- 1:09:17That's that's where they are. All right.
- 1:09:21Hey, Louis, you just threw us down the box.
- 1:09:23Lynn Jarvis is the Jerry Jones of Yamaha.
- 1:09:27He left. He left, though he.
- 1:09:29Left too late? Listen if Jerry has still there,
- 1:09:34so at least he left before Jerry.
- 1:09:35At least he left before the entire team just collapsed.
- 1:09:39Hey, hey, listen. That Yamaha will be much better
- 1:09:42than where they are right now. Like especially how many races
- 1:09:44we're in. They're still all at the bottom,
- 1:09:47pretty much. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:09:48Hey, all I can say is on this side we doing very well.
- 1:09:51That's all I can say on this side of the the box.
- 1:09:55Yeah, but you're, you're in super bike.
- 1:10:00Outside of Ducati, nobody's putting money into super bikes.
- 1:10:03So even if you roll out a 20 year old R1, it's still because
- 1:10:08ain't nobody. Else.
- 1:10:10Cutting the edge that much sharper.
- 1:10:12BMW and BMW and Ducati are the only two companies are actively
- 1:10:16putting a lot of money into developing a liter bike for the
- 1:10:20street. Yamaha and Suzuki and Honda and
- 1:10:24Kawasaki keep rolling out their tired ass packages year after
- 1:10:27year with bold new graphics and it's the same.
- 1:10:30Shit I bought. 10 years ago. Hey man, just.
- 1:10:34Happens to be that you guys keep improving the ship box just
- 1:10:38enough to stay competitive with these newer bikes.
- 1:10:42It's all we got to do, man. My man Vin Diesel said it best.
- 1:10:50Don't matter if you win by inch or a mile, winning's winning
- 1:10:54shit. Well, on that nose, guys, let's
- 1:10:59get out of here. William Israel, 45 is to be
- 1:11:02forever cool podcast on Thank TJ with two wheels and coffee.
- 1:11:05Reese from attack Yamaha Marie Luis Ortega the numbers guy
- 1:11:09Peace peace. Family.
