- 0:35Speaker 4: Like I'm in the middle of Like I did the
- 0:38Speaker 4: conversation with Eric Church for CRS week, and I'm still
- 0:41Speaker 4: talking to everybody who will listen about me hanging out
- 0:43Speaker 4: with Eric Church.
- 0:44Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying.
- 0:44Speaker 3: It's just crazy, which is weird because that's you're to
- 0:47Speaker 3: the point that where there's a lot of big names.
- 0:51Speaker 4: Yeah, well I don't have a phone no more. But yeah,
- 0:53Speaker 4: for sure, it's awesome. Not having a phone is the
- 0:57Speaker 4: best thing that's ever happened to me. Dude, it's so good.
- 1:00Speaker 3: Let me ask you, because you are a guy who
- 1:02Speaker 3: has always been a mental health wise out loud and.
- 1:06Speaker 1: We've seen you where you've been overwhelmed.
- 1:08Speaker 3: As a matter of fact, we've talked before, like there
- 1:11Speaker 3: was a time where even came to the studio and
- 1:13Speaker 3: you couldn't even I mean, you did the interview, but
- 1:16Speaker 3: it was like, oh, I'm getting a text too.
- 1:17Speaker 1: Oh I got hanged, and you know what I mean,
- 1:19Speaker 1: like you're having to do all of this that once. Yeah,
- 1:21Speaker 1: you're I can see any right now, You're so clear.
- 1:26Speaker 2: No, it's dude, I wish i'd have known I had
- 1:28Speaker 2: this kind of clarity.
- 1:29Speaker 4: You should have told me this when you used to
- 1:30Speaker 4: be fat, But you tell me when I wasn't fat anymore.
- 1:33Speaker 4: I'd start thinking, right, there was something called fat fog,
- 1:35Speaker 4: you know. And I was trying to juggle the phone
- 1:38Speaker 4: and all these different things and relationships and friendships and
- 1:43Speaker 4: family and business and all these things. It was just
- 1:45Speaker 4: it became so much that I was like, man, I
- 1:47Speaker 4: just the easiest way for me to find peace was
- 1:49Speaker 4: I went phoneless. I came home, I spent six weeks
- 1:52Speaker 4: with the family and didn't talk to anybody, Like I
- 1:54Speaker 4: just hung out of the farm every day with the family,
- 1:55Speaker 4: and it was like so good for my soul and
- 1:58Speaker 4: then I left again this year, down one hundred and
- 2:01Speaker 4: something pounds from last year, with a different sense of
- 2:03Speaker 4: clarity and excitement about what I'm doing.
- 2:06Speaker 2: I'm excited, dude.
- 2:07Speaker 4: I was too fat to I was always joyful, but
- 2:09Speaker 4: I wasn't excited. I was too fat to be excited.
- 2:11Speaker 4: Took too much energy to actually be excited. Where I'm
- 2:14Speaker 4: just now getting skinny enough to start being excited.
- 2:17Speaker 1: Let me say, we want more farm content.
- 2:19Speaker 4: Dude, My wife listened about Bunny. Don't see this, Wayne.
- 2:23Speaker 4: If she sees this and like we need less farm content,
- 2:27Speaker 4: this woman is by she well listen. I left for
- 2:29Speaker 4: a month. I came home. We had three new pigs
- 2:32Speaker 4: and a whole new donkey. You know what I'm saying.
- 2:34Speaker 4: In thirty days, she had already collected four more animals.
- 2:37Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying. It's crazy.
- 2:41Speaker 1: How the take care of a pig.
- 2:45Speaker 2: I don't know anything about pigs. So I go to
- 2:47Speaker 2: feed the pigs.
- 2:47Speaker 4: If so was cold then, and I said, we got
- 2:49Speaker 4: to bring the pigs in, so the pigs come in
- 2:51Speaker 4: into the house. No, we brought the pigs into the house. No, listen,
- 2:56Speaker 4: this is a thing, man. You don't know what I'm
- 2:57Speaker 4: going through at home, y'all. It's a barnyard everywhere. My
- 2:59Speaker 4: wife trying to bring a cow in the other day. Literally,
- 3:02Speaker 4: she found cow diapers, and my wife convinced me that
- 3:05Speaker 4: she could put a cow diaper on this cow. I'm
- 3:06Speaker 4: not making this up, and then we could bring the
- 3:09Speaker 4: cow in to hang out in the afternoon. I was like, Bunny,
- 3:11Speaker 4: this isn't a that's a bull. It's a small bull,
- 3:14Speaker 4: but it's a horned bull. You know what I'm saying.
- 3:16Speaker 4: We're not bringing a bull into our living room. This
- 3:17Speaker 4: is crazy.
- 3:18Speaker 2: It is unreal.
- 3:20Speaker 4: I go to feed a pig vicious little things, by
- 3:23Speaker 4: the way, I mean, dude, that thing almost took my
- 3:26Speaker 4: hand off. I tried to give an animal cracker a
- 3:27Speaker 4: little bit of pigs. They're gonna be big pigs. That's
- 3:29Speaker 4: another thing too. She thought, She's like, they're gonna be little.
- 3:31Speaker 4: I was like, not forever. Those are pig They're gonna
- 3:33Speaker 4: be huge. We do have little donkeys, though our donkeys
- 3:38Speaker 4: are I couldn't believe that donkey was standing up way
- 3:41Speaker 4: that talk. That donkey's as tall as this table. I'm
- 3:44Speaker 4: not making this up, dude. For the sake of the horse.
- 3:49Speaker 4: I need to lose another hundred you know what I'm saying,
- 3:51Speaker 4: for the sake of the horse, or I need one
- 3:53Speaker 4: of them Budweiser, Clydesdale's.
- 3:55Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying.
- 4:00Speaker 1: Phone throwing into the river incident. Right, you have lost weight.
- 4:06Speaker 3: You have slowed your life down because a lot of
- 4:10Speaker 3: people don't get when you're an artist.
- 4:11Speaker 1: You got to burn both can burn the end of
- 4:15Speaker 1: what am.
- 4:15Speaker 4: I trying to say, but burn both into the can events.
- 4:18Speaker 1: Do not have a choice if you want to be successful.
- 4:21Speaker 1: You did that harder than most.
- 4:23Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 4:23Speaker 3: Right, you were probably out of candle by the time
- 4:25Speaker 3: you realized it. Where you mentally now great? And what
- 4:31Speaker 3: was the breaking point? Like a if something don't change,
- 4:33Speaker 3: some think be good.
- 4:35Speaker 4: I knew that I couldn't carry the workload and the
- 4:37Speaker 4: weight it was that easy. I knew it was gonna
- 4:40Speaker 4: kill me. I wasn't gonna live to be Nobody lives
- 4:42Speaker 4: in their fifties at that weight anyway. That was five
- 4:44Speaker 4: hundred and fifty pounds, So I knew that was big.
- 4:47Speaker 4: And then also it was like I started changing my
- 4:49Speaker 4: relationship with everything. I was addicted to food the same
- 4:52Speaker 4: way I was addicted to cocaine. I was addicted to
- 4:55Speaker 4: my phone the same way I was addicted to food.
- 4:56Speaker 4: You know what I mean. I realized that how I
- 4:58Speaker 4: did anything is how I did everything. And when that
- 5:00Speaker 4: hit me, I said, I gotta re This is a
- 5:03Speaker 4: core reset.
- 5:04Speaker 2: I went to on site. I met with some mental therapists.
- 5:07Speaker 4: I understood more about the functioning of the mind, why
- 5:09Speaker 4: I was thinking the way I was thinking, started putting
- 5:12Speaker 4: together plans to change the way I was thinking.
- 5:14Speaker 2: I had to.
- 5:14Speaker 4: I'm slowly still in the early processes of just completely
- 5:18Speaker 4: changing my thinking habits. I don't know about y'all, but
- 5:21Speaker 4: my inner monologue sucks. Sometimes there are sometimes I listen
- 5:25Speaker 4: to it and I'm like, who's programming this.
- 5:26Speaker 2: Radio station right now? This is horrible?
- 5:28Speaker 4: You know what I'm saying, Like this is bad, and
- 5:30Speaker 4: that's me talking to me. That's what Liar's about, right,
- 5:33Speaker 4: not to parallel to the single, but you know what
- 5:35Speaker 4: I mean, that is that's what Liar was. Anyways, Liar
- 5:38Speaker 4: was about that of being like fighting against my own
- 5:41Speaker 4: inner monologue.
- 5:43Speaker 3: What does that do for you? And I'm cliff noting
- 5:46Speaker 3: the interview because I know we're tight on time. Where
- 5:50Speaker 3: you're at mentally now, right when we first heard your music.
- 5:54Speaker 1: You were a different guy in a different place.
- 5:57Speaker 3: You started to see success, started to see number one
- 6:00Speaker 3: different places.
- 6:01Speaker 1: What is it doing for you? Now? Were the best
- 6:03Speaker 1: place you've been as long as we've known for you?
- 6:06Speaker 1: What is it doing for you creatively when its right?
- 6:10Speaker 2: Yeah, and actually put music together. Let's think about it
- 6:13Speaker 2: this way. Let's think save me.
- 6:14Speaker 4: The last word you heard on save Me before the
- 6:17Speaker 4: ooh was life has shattered my hopes and my dreams
- 6:21Speaker 4: just between save Me and twenty twenty and I'm not okay,
- 6:26Speaker 4: but we're all gonna be all right. There starts to
- 6:29Speaker 4: be a little hope and then, liar, you start to
- 6:32Speaker 4: hear me now standing up against that voice that helped
- 6:34Speaker 4: me down for so long. Like I hadn't talked about
- 6:38Speaker 4: this yet, but I gotta feel that my next album
- 6:40Speaker 4: is going to be dramatically different, like sonically, subject wise,
- 6:44Speaker 4: like I think it's going to be a complete left
- 6:46Speaker 4: turn on jelly Row. You know, because my heart's so different,
- 6:50Speaker 4: you can you can hear it in the music. I've
- 6:52Speaker 4: been fighting this demon for so long that you're starting
- 6:54Speaker 4: to see me start to win. It's like watching Rocky
- 6:57Speaker 4: You've been watching me get my ass kicked for nine rounds,
- 6:59Speaker 4: and all the sudden it's like, hold on.
- 7:01Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying. So yeah, yeah, that's what it's.
- 7:08Speaker 4: That's how it feels every time I run down my
- 7:09Speaker 4: steps right now, listen, I know we got a rap.
- 7:13Speaker 1: We talked about this being another number one song.
- 7:16Speaker 3: Every song feels like it's special to you, Especially the
- 7:19Speaker 3: radio singles feel like they're telling a story of who
- 7:21Speaker 3: you are.
- 7:23Speaker 1: This one ringing that bell as well? Does it mean
- 7:26Speaker 1: more than the others?
- 7:29Speaker 2: Man?
- 7:29Speaker 4: I think this one means first of all, everyone, every
- 7:32Speaker 4: time you get another one, it means more than the
- 7:34Speaker 4: others because your best song is your most recent one.
- 7:37Speaker 2: Man, there's no greater feeling as an artist.
- 7:39Speaker 4: I don't know how many artists are afraid to tell
- 7:41Speaker 4: you that that straight up, but there's nothing cooler than
- 7:44Speaker 4: ending your set with a newer song.
- 7:46Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying.
- 7:47Speaker 4: It's nothing feels more like I am on the right
- 7:49Speaker 4: path right now. But also, man, I love that my journey,
- 7:53Speaker 4: especially on radio, which has been my biggest dream songs too.
- 7:56Speaker 4: Radio speaks directly to my streaming audience. Obviously, radio where
- 8:00Speaker 4: it broke me, I got broke here. It speaks to
- 8:03Speaker 4: my story, and I think that it's just you know,
- 8:05Speaker 4: I think it's more of us showing that jelly roll
- 8:08Speaker 4: story like this one means a lot because it's empowering.
- 8:12Speaker 4: That's what means a lot is that we're like actively together. Now,
- 8:15Speaker 4: we've actively stood together and held each other and cried
- 8:18Speaker 4: together and coombed and swayed side to side, and now
- 8:21Speaker 4: we're shaking our fist at the powers to be you
- 8:24Speaker 4: know what I mean.
- 8:24Speaker 2: That's what's cool about this song.
- 8:28Speaker 4: I love you, Bob, Thanks for coming over here, dude,
- 8:31Speaker 4: you want to hear The worst part about this is
- 8:32Speaker 4: that I'm going to be right by y'all in five minutes.
- 8:36Speaker 4: So stupid.
- 8:37Speaker 2: I wish I had to know. I would have it
- 8:38Speaker 2: this backwards.
- 8:38Speaker 1: Yes,
