Transcript
- 0:05Speaker 1: Here he is live from some god forsaken European nation.
- 0:11Speaker 1: Ladies and gentlemen, please give a big good and talk.
- 0:15Speaker 1: Two bars is down at Pable.
- 0:23Speaker 2: Thank you, thank you, don't care, don't care, not a dunker.
- 0:27Speaker 3: Anymore, because I'm in Barcelona right now as we speak.
- 0:31Speaker 2: So it's kind of Germany, but not not sort of
- 0:33Speaker 2: not really have.
- 0:34Speaker 1: You been noticing my names all over the place in Barcelona?
- 0:37Speaker 1: There's a lot of Goldie.
- 0:39Speaker 2: Yeah, there's a lot of the toilet doors cool called
- 0:44Speaker 2: Goldie for a good time, for a good time, this whole.
- 0:48Speaker 1: There's some hot little Bucklovar called me. Now, pot off
- 0:52Speaker 1: the heels of the Munich Motor Show. You've landed in Barcelona.
- 0:58Speaker 1: What a cute little stopover.
- 1:00Speaker 3: So we're over here driving some Cupas which is a
- 1:04Speaker 3: home of the home of Kupra, the startup and I
- 1:09Speaker 3: use that in inverted commas from Volkswagen.
- 1:13Speaker 1: We'll get we'll get to them real soon because I've
- 1:16Speaker 1: been loving what they've been showing off at the motor show.
- 1:19Speaker 1: It's looked really cool. But tell me about you. Tell
- 1:21Speaker 1: me about the week that's been apart from cars, what's
- 1:23Speaker 1: been going on?
- 1:25Speaker 3: Well, look, the interesting thing with the motor show. It
- 1:29Speaker 3: used to be that you would go to one of
- 1:31Speaker 3: these motor shows and there would be a stand from
- 1:34Speaker 3: every car manufacturer inside the motor show. It's been two
- 1:38Speaker 3: days walking around doing twenty thirty thousand steps a day
- 1:42Speaker 3: getting between all the things and all the interviews and whatever.
- 1:45Speaker 3: But now it's totally different. So what they're now doing
- 1:48Speaker 3: is they use the actual trade hall, which is the
- 1:53Speaker 3: main sort of place where where it all takes place
- 1:55Speaker 3: for exhibitors, but they only have a small pre it's
- 2:00Speaker 3: for car companies. And then what they do is they
- 2:02Speaker 3: move all of the car companies sort of stands out
- 2:06Speaker 3: into public spaces. So if you go into the center
- 2:08Speaker 3: of Munich, they actually have all of the car companies
- 2:12Speaker 3: set up sort of all over Munich Munich City Center.
- 2:16Speaker 3: So it's a pretty pretty interesting setup. But it means
- 2:19Speaker 3: then that they can get a whole lot more foot
- 2:21Speaker 3: traffic from the public, because previously you used to have
- 2:23Speaker 3: to go to this big exublition center and walk around
- 2:28Speaker 3: and I can't even believe that you used to pay
- 2:30Speaker 3: to get into a motor show. It's like you're marketing,
- 2:33Speaker 3: you know, you're trying to sell a car, here, but so, yeah,
- 2:37Speaker 3: it is quite fascinating how it's evolved and how motor
- 2:40Speaker 3: shows are not what they used to be, but they
- 2:42Speaker 3: are now getting back to getting cars and concept cars
- 2:45Speaker 3: in front of the public.
- 2:46Speaker 1: And I think it's probably a smart one because when
- 2:48Speaker 1: you think about it, when you're in an exhibition building
- 2:50Speaker 1: an exhibition center, you're paying for space, you're paying for
- 2:53Speaker 1: square meters. This is kind of a little bit different.
- 2:56Speaker 1: You can I mean, they could have a for instance,
- 2:59Speaker 1: the Coopra showroom could be set up and re engineered
- 3:03Speaker 1: and redone with the launch of all their latest cars.
- 3:07Speaker 1: Or Volkswagen could rent out a building rather than throw
- 3:12Speaker 1: all this money at a tiny space and in that
- 3:14Speaker 1: space they can only sort of afford to put in
- 3:16Speaker 1: a few cars. Now they can have their own little
- 3:19Speaker 1: sort of showroom.
- 3:20Speaker 2: Yeah, and that's what they did.
- 3:21Speaker 3: So Mercedes Benz and the Cooper were both inside a museum,
- 3:25Speaker 3: so they had this awesome space in an outdoor area
- 3:29Speaker 3: and they had all of their cars there.
- 3:31Speaker 2: They were doing test.
- 3:32Speaker 3: Drives all day long. They good some concept cars. So
- 3:36Speaker 3: I think it does show you that it is changing
- 3:38Speaker 3: and it gets them or foot traffic, because if you're
- 3:41Speaker 3: just walking through Munich. You end up seeing it even
- 3:43Speaker 3: if you had no idea the motor show was on
- 3:46Speaker 3: or had no interest in it.
- 3:47Speaker 2: And then every time.
- 3:49Speaker 3: There's a motor show and you're guarantee to find some protesters.
- 3:52Speaker 3: And these absolute drongos turned up today one of the
- 3:57Speaker 3: trade fair as well, and stuck a few cars lake
- 4:00Speaker 3: and in front of the motor show and did some protesting.
- 4:04Speaker 3: And I'm like, hey, listen up. Most people aren't here
- 4:06Speaker 3: at the actual exhibition center. They're out in the city center.
- 4:10Speaker 1: Your amausis, what were they protesting? What a weird thing?
- 4:14Speaker 2: They're just environmental protesters.
- 4:16Speaker 3: Every single time there's a European motor show, they turn
- 4:19Speaker 3: up and cause the team and they have an incredible
- 4:22Speaker 3: police presence. So they had went to this thing called
- 4:25Speaker 3: the Volkswagen Group Knight, and what it is is basically
- 4:29Speaker 3: all of the Volkswagen brands together in one space and
- 4:32Speaker 3: it's like an invite only events and they reveal stuff.
- 4:35Speaker 3: And the police presence at this event was incredible because
- 4:38Speaker 3: they were just worried about protesters coming in because they
- 4:41Speaker 3: bring in basically the entire board of Volkswagen, including the CEO,
- 4:46Speaker 3: and they just have a lot of security there, just
- 4:49Speaker 3: to make sure that nothing goes wrong, because you can
- 4:50Speaker 3: imagine if someone started to do something and wiped out
- 4:54Speaker 3: the whole Volkswagen board.
- 4:55Speaker 2: It would be a slight problem. Lover.
- 4:58Speaker 1: Well, let's talk about some cars. Actually through a couple
- 5:00Speaker 1: of cars that you've seen, because I feel like there's
- 5:03Speaker 1: a few that have been, a few that have been
- 5:05Speaker 1: the standout. One car popped up which I don't actually
- 5:08Speaker 1: think was at the motor Show but decided to launch
- 5:10Speaker 1: this week, which I'm so excited about, and I'll tell
- 5:11Speaker 1: you in a sack, but I feel like everyone had
- 5:13Speaker 1: eyes on the Volkswagen ID GTI.
- 5:16Speaker 2: Yeah, so the ID GTI is basically Volkswagen. What they're
- 5:22Speaker 2: trying to do.
- 5:23Speaker 3: Is revive brand names and to use brand names to
- 5:26Speaker 3: sell their products. Because prior to this they'd launched ID three,
- 5:30Speaker 3: ID four, ID five, it was like what does that
- 5:33Speaker 3: even mean? So what they've done is they've said, well,
- 5:35Speaker 3: we're going to keep ID is the electric thing, but
- 5:37Speaker 3: we're going to stick GTI in because everyone knows what
- 5:40Speaker 3: GTI means.
- 5:40Speaker 2: They know that it's a front wheel drive performance car
- 5:43Speaker 2: in Volkswagen.
- 5:44Speaker 3: So they've debuted a small car that's around sort of
- 5:47Speaker 3: between a Polo and a golf in size, and they've
- 5:49Speaker 3: called it the GTI. It's going to be front wheel drive,
- 5:51Speaker 3: it'll be a performance hatching, and it looks really cool
- 5:54Speaker 3: as well, and they've really focused on making it affordable.
- 5:57Speaker 3: So the actual ID ID two was the costs of
- 6:01Speaker 3: twenty five thousand euros, which for an electric car is
- 6:04Speaker 3: pretty sort of pretty good. So the GTI will be
- 6:07Speaker 3: around that sort price point. What did you think of
- 6:10Speaker 3: the design of it?
- 6:11Speaker 1: I liked it. Volkswagen have always had this thing where
- 6:14Speaker 1: I guess with their designer, less is more approach. I
- 6:17Speaker 1: feel like with their r's, their r's were just always
- 6:20Speaker 1: a little bit too understated for my liking. I feel like,
- 6:23Speaker 1: if you're going to make a fast, little hot hatch,
- 6:26Speaker 1: give it some presents. And it was always understated in
- 6:29Speaker 1: a lot of ways. But I think this looks really good.
- 6:31Speaker 1: Can I just see the front of it again?
- 6:33Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 6:33Speaker 1: I think it looks really good. You know what I
- 6:35Speaker 1: found interesting was when they launched this, A lot of
- 6:37Speaker 1: the criticism, a lot of comments online and stuff was like, GGO,
- 6:41Speaker 1: it can't be technically a bloody GGO, it's electric, Like
- 6:46Speaker 1: it was the same idiots that when the Porsche ty
- 6:49Speaker 1: Can came out, they're like, you can't call it a
- 6:51Speaker 1: bloody turbo?
- 6:53Speaker 2: What Yeah, I saw that.
- 6:56Speaker 3: Someone said it's not fuel injected, so it can't be GTI.
- 7:00Speaker 3: It's like yeah right, and mate, yeah thanks Jim.
- 7:03Speaker 1: Yeah, thanks, Bro, take a set. I think it's a
- 7:05Speaker 1: smart move. Actually, I think what they've done is good.
- 7:07Speaker 1: You know. I was looking at the design for a
- 7:09Speaker 1: long time with mixed emotions because I sort of feel
- 7:11Speaker 1: like part of me was like, Ah, have they done enough?
- 7:14Speaker 1: Could they have done more? But I feel like if
- 7:16Speaker 1: they did more it would almost be a little bit
- 7:20Speaker 1: too much. I think they've found a really good balance.
- 7:22Speaker 1: I do like the wheels on it. The wheels feel
- 7:24Speaker 1: like really wide. The front is quite aggressive at the
- 7:27Speaker 1: bottom half. I don't know if they'll keep those hooks though.
- 7:30Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:30Speaker 3: Well it's going to look pretty much exactly like that
- 7:32Speaker 3: when it launches, so I think the only real change
- 7:34Speaker 3: is are slightly smaller wheels.
- 7:36Speaker 2: It'll be on probably nineteen's instep of twenties yea.
- 7:39Speaker 3: And in terms of the aggressiveness, this is going to
- 7:42Speaker 3: launch as a scoter and also as a cooper, and
- 7:45Speaker 3: I think the Coopra is the one that's going to
- 7:47Speaker 3: be the aggressive looking one, so that's called the Reval.
- 7:50Speaker 2: And that looks unreal like they've done a really good
- 7:52Speaker 2: job with styling that. So yeah, they're trying to be
- 7:55Speaker 2: a bit more sort of asserted with the design value.
- 7:57Speaker 3: So Volkswagen is going to have Volkswagen Q and then
- 8:00Speaker 3: for the younger, sort of more creative ones, they're going
- 8:03Speaker 3: to shuffle that through to Cooper to really sort of
- 8:06Speaker 3: go to town on how they look.
- 8:07Speaker 1: Also, Tesla Model three is it just me because the
- 8:10Speaker 1: footage that I saw from the motor show, it was chockers.
- 8:15Speaker 1: It was almost like Paul Merrick and Gaudy Waters had
- 8:18Speaker 1: come into town. Like it was there was a crowd.
- 8:21Speaker 1: There was a crowd was building.
- 8:23Speaker 2: So the Tesla thing was interesting.
- 8:25Speaker 3: On the second day, I went for a walk around
- 8:26Speaker 3: to look at the other exhibits and I didn't even
- 8:28Speaker 3: know Tesla was there.
- 8:29Speaker 2: They had this tiny little stand.
- 8:30Speaker 3: With just two cars on the model Wie the Model three,
- 8:33Speaker 3: and I'm like, oh, look it's a your Model three.
- 8:34Speaker 2: So but yeah, you're right. It was so full of people.
- 8:37Speaker 3: It was there was fun blog So I'm sort of
- 8:40Speaker 3: doing my little video walkaround of it, and he stands
- 8:44Speaker 3: in front of me and pulls out a measuring.
- 8:46Speaker 2: Tape, and I'm like, what does this guy do?
- 8:48Speaker 1: Put it away. You don't need that much tape. I'm
- 8:50Speaker 1: very small.
- 8:53Speaker 3: So these guys basically walk around the show to new
- 8:55Speaker 3: models and measure things up so that they can sell
- 8:58Speaker 3: accessories measuring up. For some reason, the wipers, so he
- 9:03Speaker 3: may have been a manufacturer of wiper blades for Tesla's.
- 9:07Speaker 3: So it's just incredible that the most random people you
- 9:10Speaker 3: see at these shows that are there for all sorts
- 9:12Speaker 3: of just bizarre reasons, just strolling around the place. But yeah,
- 9:16Speaker 3: look there's a little throughout.
- 9:17Speaker 2: I think it.
- 9:17Speaker 3: Actually it looks pretty good. The update looks nice, the
- 9:20Speaker 3: front looks good, the really looks good. I think I'm
- 9:24Speaker 3: disappointed they still haven't gone with a head up displayer
- 9:26Speaker 3: or a screen in front of the driver of some description.
- 9:29Speaker 3: And then the second row as well, did you see
- 9:30Speaker 3: that screen? Like it's so stupid. I mean it's so
- 9:35Speaker 3: small you can't see anything on it. So they're like, oh,
- 9:37Speaker 3: it's for kids to watch things. I'm like, yeah, so
- 9:39Speaker 3: they can have like bent next because they just have
- 9:41Speaker 3: to look down the whole time.
- 9:44Speaker 2: Yeah, I just think they kind of missed missed out
- 9:47Speaker 2: of that.
- 9:47Speaker 3: They should have just used the money they spent on
- 9:49Speaker 3: that thing to put it out of the driver Would.
- 9:51Speaker 1: They put it behind the driver's seat again, Well, I
- 9:53Speaker 1: don't know.
- 9:53Speaker 3: I would have thought so, because when you think about it,
- 9:55Speaker 3: if you've got kids sitting there, or just anyone sitting there,
- 9:58Speaker 3: you have to turn your head look down to watch
- 10:01Speaker 3: this screen.
- 10:02Speaker 2: It's just and it's such a small screen. I'm just
- 10:04Speaker 2: not gonna be able to see anything.
- 10:05Speaker 3: I just think they've tried to be clever, and that
- 10:07Speaker 3: was a part of the car that didn't need to
- 10:08Speaker 3: be clever.
- 10:09Speaker 1: Imagine if you had a couple of kids in the
- 10:10Speaker 1: back of that thing too, they would be fucking fighting,
- 10:13Speaker 1: and you'd just be like, Mum, would be the Caleb
- 10:16Speaker 1: kind of stop kicking the fucking testa screen. I'll kick
- 10:20Speaker 1: you in the fucking head, kick you out of the car, Caleb, George,
- 10:25Speaker 1: bloody Caleb. I told you we shouldn't have had Caleb
- 10:28Speaker 1: biggish mistakes in to the bloody day kind of stop.
- 10:31Speaker 1: We'll still about two hours till we get to Lake's entrance.
- 10:34Speaker 2: And we didn't change.
- 10:38Speaker 1: It's an interesting balance. I think it's enough to woo
- 10:41Speaker 1: new people to want it, yet it's not too much
- 10:44Speaker 1: where it's going to piss off the current market. Like
- 10:47Speaker 1: I literally had a guy who's whose tesla arrived the
- 10:51Speaker 1: day before this this was announced, and I just remember going, mate,
- 10:55Speaker 1: you should have waited, We should have waited.
- 10:58Speaker 2: As say. That was literally my dad as well.
- 11:00Speaker 3: He got his delivered last week and I told him
- 11:03Speaker 3: there was another one coming, but he said, oh, I don't.
- 11:05Speaker 2: Care, and I'm like, it's okay, just listen to me.
- 11:10Speaker 1: Who wants no, They never do. But I think it's
- 11:12Speaker 1: a good update. I think it looks great. I actually
- 11:14Speaker 1: think the updates on every single sort of angle are
- 11:17Speaker 1: really well done. The wheels look better. I like those
- 11:20Speaker 1: little kind of weird inserts they've put between them.
- 11:23Speaker 3: What do you think about the steering wheel because they've
- 11:26Speaker 3: removed the stalks.
- 11:27Speaker 1: Yeah, the indicators on the steering wheel is weird, weird.
- 11:32Speaker 1: I think it's going to be a hard thing to
- 11:33Speaker 1: get used to because actually the Lambo we had last
- 11:36Speaker 1: week had indicators on the steering wheel right, and I
- 11:39Speaker 1: just hated that. But Lexis have put it on their
- 11:42Speaker 1: yoke too. Yeah, maybe they're doing stuff that is working
- 11:47Speaker 1: and we just don't know.
- 11:48Speaker 2: Maybe not.
- 11:50Speaker 3: Maybe.
- 11:51Speaker 1: Look, I think it's good. I think the colors are
- 11:53Speaker 1: really cool. I think the design is a great update.
- 11:57Speaker 1: The lights look good. The screen I would have, honest
- 12:00Speaker 1: and I will stand by this. They need to do
- 12:03Speaker 1: two things with the screen. One they need to put
- 12:04Speaker 1: it behind the steering wheel, and they also need to
- 12:08Speaker 1: be able to have that center screen rotate like a BYD.
- 12:12Speaker 2: Yeah, because that's a useful feature.
- 12:15Speaker 1: It's cool something sometimes you don't want to look at
- 12:17Speaker 1: shit in landscape all the time.
- 12:20Speaker 3: Actually, speaking of BYD, they launched they launched a new car.
- 12:25Speaker 3: It's basically their competitor to the Model Y. It was
- 12:28Speaker 3: called the It is called the Seal U. So basically, yeah,
- 12:34Speaker 3: Model Y competitor only announced with one engine varying or
- 12:38Speaker 3: one motor variant at the moment, two battery sizes one
- 12:41Speaker 3: around seventy kilo, what hour is one about ninety? This
- 12:45Speaker 3: thing was pretty cool so around the size of Arab
- 12:47Speaker 3: four looked sort of pretty spacious, big screen ahead of
- 12:50Speaker 3: the driver, big central display similar to the Atto three
- 12:53Speaker 3: chairs a platform with the Auto three. So I reckon
- 12:56Speaker 3: that's going to shake things up in Australia because it
- 12:58Speaker 3: finally gives people an opportun unity to buy an suv
- 13:01Speaker 3: that's electric. And I think it will be affordable in
- 13:04Speaker 3: the sense that it won't be a seventy thousand dollars tesla,
- 13:07Speaker 3: so I think it will definitely be stealing some sales
- 13:10Speaker 3: from them.
- 13:10Speaker 1: Yeah, I agree. I think it looks good too. They
- 13:12Speaker 1: also had the normal seal there as well too, didn't they.
- 13:16Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, and that actually looks good badly the Dolphin.
- 13:20Speaker 3: They even have another one called the Hahn, so they
- 13:23Speaker 3: have all sorts.
- 13:24Speaker 2: Of fun little names for them. I'm surprised they didn't
- 13:29Speaker 2: have you over Gordy for the reveal they're.
- 13:32Speaker 1: Saving They're saving me for the launch of the BYD Porpoise.
- 13:38Speaker 2: The BYD Gordy. It's just their big bus.
- 13:42Speaker 1: I like to look at the Celia. I think it
- 13:44Speaker 1: looks pretty good.
- 13:45Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, and they have a lot of interest, like
- 13:48Speaker 2: the Standard was shock a block full of people. So
- 13:51Speaker 2: I think.
- 13:51Speaker 3: That the Chinese are really coming hard in Europe, so
- 13:56Speaker 3: that is a signal of their intentions for the States
- 13:59Speaker 3: as well. They're increasing market share here in Europe, and
- 14:02Speaker 3: I think that the plan is to really go hard
- 14:05Speaker 3: in the US as well, once they've proven Europe works.
- 14:07Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 14:07Speaker 1: One thing I noticed too with a lot of the
- 14:09Speaker 1: cars that they were launching is a lot of the
- 14:11Speaker 1: cars are mainly just for China and maybe Europe.
- 14:16Speaker 2: Yeah, well, you know why they're doing that. So Votzagen
- 14:18Speaker 2: actually said that.
- 14:21Speaker 3: They're setting up joint partnerships in China with some of
- 14:25Speaker 3: the local car brands and that they will be designing
- 14:28Speaker 3: cars just for the Chinese market with just Chinese batteries.
- 14:32Speaker 2: And they're doing that.
- 14:33Speaker 3: Because if you sell an Etron RSGT in Australia for
- 14:38Speaker 3: two hundred and fifty grand and you sell that same
- 14:41Speaker 3: car in China for one hundred and fifty grand to
- 14:43Speaker 3: stay competitive, you're diluting the brand because people are going
- 14:46Speaker 3: to get pissed off that it's one hundred grand cheaper
- 14:48Speaker 3: in China. What they do is they'll create a bespoke
- 14:51Speaker 3: model for China that uses the platform that is slightly
- 14:54Speaker 3: longer or shorter or whatever, and uses Chinese batteries, and
- 14:57Speaker 3: it gives them the chance you still have an Audi
- 14:59Speaker 3: logo on it, but then they can basically say, oh,
- 15:02Speaker 3: it's not the same car.
- 15:04Speaker 2: That's why it's cheaper, so they really want to go
- 15:07Speaker 2: for volume in China.
- 15:08Speaker 3: And they own something like twenty percent market share in
- 15:11Speaker 3: China compared to like five percent in the States, So
- 15:16Speaker 3: I think that, yeah, they really want to go hard
- 15:19Speaker 3: in China so they can bankroll the rest of the company.
- 15:22Speaker 3: They're investing one hundred and eighty billion dollars in stuff
- 15:25Speaker 3: over the next three years, so it is it is
- 15:27Speaker 3: a huge step forward.
- 15:28Speaker 1: Yeah, BMW had some cool stuff too. I saw the
- 15:31Speaker 1: fuck please don't make me read this the BMW feel
- 15:35Speaker 1: like this needs to be said with a German accent.
- 15:37Speaker 1: Let me channel my Hogan's heroes. The BMW nlak class.
- 15:45Speaker 2: It's a Kazakhstani German.
- 15:47Speaker 1: I like you how much?
- 15:49Speaker 2: New class new class? Yeah? Fuck, why don't.
- 15:52Speaker 1: They just spell it new class? I saw that. I
- 15:54Speaker 1: saw the I think it was an I five. It
- 15:57Speaker 1: was a red I five that looked pretty cool. The
- 16:00Speaker 1: I four too, which I find it's so interesting between
- 16:04Speaker 1: those between those models, the fact that the I four
- 16:06Speaker 1: and the I five have completely different design language up
- 16:09Speaker 1: the front, like it it's so weird, it's so weird
- 16:12Speaker 1: to watch. But the I four had that big sort
- 16:15Speaker 1: of pig nose thing going on, whereas the I five
- 16:17Speaker 1: had the more kind of illuminated traditional.
- 16:20Speaker 3: Did you see with that new class they've gone with
- 16:22Speaker 3: a small grill again.
- 16:24Speaker 2: Yeah, it's sort of just like so it is weird.
- 16:28Speaker 3: They're kind of just chopping and changing there with their designs.
- 16:32Speaker 2: So I don't know.
- 16:35Speaker 3: I like the look of it, and it's going to
- 16:37Speaker 3: basically signal where they're heading with the next generation of.
- 16:40Speaker 2: Cars, and look, if they have that sort of vibe
- 16:43Speaker 2: to them, I'm kind of lacking it.
- 16:45Speaker 3: I just think that experiment with the giant grill just
- 16:48Speaker 3: hasn't really worked, and I think they are quickly backing
- 16:50Speaker 3: away from that sort of stuff.
- 16:52Speaker 1: Even the new class grill I don't really like too much.
- 16:55Speaker 1: I still sort of like how they slightly evolve the
- 16:59Speaker 1: traditional one in the I five.
- 17:01Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, you are. You are sounding quite hard
- 17:04Speaker 2: to please.
- 17:06Speaker 3: That's my sort of take on its.
- 17:10Speaker 1: Most people would call it realistic, I would say, some
- 17:16Speaker 1: would call what what they say in Germany. Some people
- 17:20Speaker 1: would call you a little bitch.
- 17:26Speaker 2: Did you see the Cooper of Dark Rebel?
- 17:30Speaker 1: No, look it up, Marty, look it up. Marty's here too.
- 17:32Speaker 1: By the way, I've got some I've got some I've
- 17:35Speaker 1: got some very exciting news. Why Marty's looking that up right?
- 17:39Speaker 1: Guess where Marty's gone next week? Oh so sore to me? Nam,
- 17:46Speaker 1: how dare you? Social media? Marty is off to his
- 17:52Speaker 1: very first car launch.
- 17:54Speaker 2: Watch out there you go.
- 17:55Speaker 1: You're after the b y d C launch. Don't pretend
- 17:58Speaker 1: you're not excited. How dare you? He pretends he's not excited,
- 18:04Speaker 1: but he really wants to see what his cousins have.
- 18:06Speaker 2: Bill.
- 18:10Speaker 1: Yeah, fucking look at that cool problem man, that is
- 18:14Speaker 1: that is the next Batman Bile. I'm loving what they're doing.
- 18:16Speaker 1: I like the even some of the newer some of
- 18:20Speaker 1: the other stuff that is understated, like they're still illuminating
- 18:22Speaker 1: the logos and stuff on the back. The real lights
- 18:25Speaker 1: look really cool. But that's what's that thing called the.
- 18:28Speaker 2: Rebel, the dark Rebel.
- 18:30Speaker 3: Yeah, so we actually we extracted from them that it's
- 18:34Speaker 3: likely to share a platform with the next generation of
- 18:37Speaker 3: Cayman and Boxer, and according to them, it'll be priced.
- 18:41Speaker 2: Well under one hundred thousand euros, which.
- 18:43Speaker 3: Means this this could be a vehicle that is that
- 18:46Speaker 3: is basically a cheap version of a Cayman or a Boxer,
- 18:51Speaker 3: and you know, I just I just think it's great
- 18:54Speaker 3: when they're sharing some of these platforms around because it
- 18:56Speaker 3: means you get access to the fast stuff without having
- 18:59Speaker 3: to spend mega dollars.
- 19:01Speaker 2: And you're right about the lights.
- 19:02Speaker 3: Actually, we're in Barcelona at the moment during some Coopra stuff,
- 19:06Speaker 3: and yesterday we checked out the Taviskan, which is their
- 19:09Speaker 3: new fully electric suv, and that thing is really cool.
- 19:13Speaker 3: That the lights they're stuck into that and the effort
- 19:16Speaker 3: they've put into that is great. It even has a
- 19:18Speaker 3: logo on the bonnet that lights up and it just
- 19:21Speaker 3: looks absolutely unreal. So yeah, it just show you that
- 19:24Speaker 3: they are going to a lot of efforts to design
- 19:26Speaker 3: these cars to really make them stand out. The same
- 19:28Speaker 3: the average buyer for a Coupra is like fifteen or
- 19:32Speaker 3: twenty years younger than an average Outy or Volkswagen buyer,
- 19:36Speaker 3: so they really are targeting a much younger person that
- 19:39Speaker 3: is wanting to get into that Volkswagen brand. And their
- 19:42Speaker 3: idea is you start them off in a Coupra. As
- 19:44Speaker 3: they get older, they can work it out to a
- 19:46Speaker 3: Volkswagen or an Audi. So yeah, it's an interesting sort
- 19:50Speaker 3: of philosophy there.
- 19:51Speaker 1: They're sort of playing with I love to work your
- 19:52Speaker 1: way up to a Volkswagen, like start with the Batmobile,
- 19:56Speaker 1: but like will work your way up to a London taxi.
- 20:01Speaker 2: Look, I might even just stay within Cooper. But I
- 20:04Speaker 2: think that they've got.
- 20:04Speaker 3: All bases covered and they're trying to make sure that
- 20:07Speaker 3: at every price point along the way that they have
- 20:09Speaker 3: a product they can sell you.
- 20:11Speaker 1: Yeah, you would definitely be in the Volkswagen era of
- 20:14Speaker 1: your life. I'd say definitely Audi.
- 20:17Speaker 2: I'd look kind of trendy in a Volkswagen Beetle.
- 20:19Speaker 1: I would have thought, yeah, not with that Polo, sir,
- 20:22Speaker 1: that has got I mean, if they brought back the
- 20:25Speaker 1: Holden Statesman, I wish I saw the Mini Cooper and
- 20:29Speaker 1: also the Countryman ev launch and I I've got a
- 20:34Speaker 1: soft spot for me here. I quite enjoy them. I
- 20:36Speaker 1: love them. But I love the big LCD Senna screen
- 20:41Speaker 1: looks fantastic in at the circular screen and it's really
- 20:44Speaker 1: high res and it's customizable, and that's what mining is
- 20:47Speaker 1: all about. It's really quirky, and the design is usually
- 20:50Speaker 1: really bloody out there and cool, or it can be
- 20:53Speaker 1: sort of Martin sensible, but It's weird because they've sort
- 20:56Speaker 1: of made a minimalistic approach in the Mini this time,
- 21:00Speaker 1: but then they'll let the customizable stuff sort of really
- 21:05Speaker 1: speak for itself, you know what I mean.
- 21:06Speaker 3: Yeah, Look, with for many, I'm sort of not entirely
- 21:09Speaker 3: convinced the driving range isn't really there, and I think
- 21:11Speaker 3: they're less even saying themselves this is going to be
- 21:14Speaker 3: just a city car. They're not expecting it to have
- 21:17Speaker 3: huge driving range. But I think the design is a
- 21:21Speaker 3: good sort of step forward. But you know, it's going
- 21:24Speaker 3: to be made in China. It's I think it's very
- 21:26Speaker 3: much a car that they've built to sell well in China.
- 21:30Speaker 3: I don't think they really care as much if it
- 21:32Speaker 3: doesn't sell well globally. But I think a lot of
- 21:35Speaker 3: these brands are really targeting China and just trying to.
- 21:38Speaker 2: Get as much volume as they came out of that market.
- 21:40Speaker 1: Yeah, I think they look good. I mean, the problem
- 21:42Speaker 1: with the Mini at the moment, the Mini ev like
- 21:44Speaker 1: you said, the range is pretty pretty piss poor. But
- 21:49Speaker 1: they're a fun little car, but yeah, the range just
- 21:51Speaker 1: absolutely ruins it. Now, before we go on to what
- 21:55Speaker 1: is I think I know you've seen some cool stuff
- 21:57Speaker 1: at this at this little hu haam to show you up.
- 22:00Speaker 1: And I'm about to tell you my favorite launch, my
- 22:03Speaker 1: favorite car launch, my favorite car announcement of the year.
- 22:06Speaker 1: But before we do that, is there anything anything that
- 22:10Speaker 1: we that you've seen that's impressed the pants off here?
- 22:12Speaker 1: Apart from the maid who just came in about two
- 22:14Speaker 1: seconds ago.
- 22:18Speaker 2: Ah, let me think.
- 22:21Speaker 3: Oh yeah, I was actually really impressed. This is one
- 22:24Speaker 3: of the weird things they did at group night. They
- 22:26Speaker 3: had acout six each prototype, but they you and tear it.
- 22:31Speaker 1: Wait, wait, stop, what's what's group Night?
- 22:33Speaker 2: That was what I mentioned before the night?
- 22:37Speaker 1: Oh okay, I thought it was this cut little thing
- 22:39Speaker 1: that all your little automotive journalists get together. Guys's green night.
- 22:43Speaker 1: Let's form a waking chain. Oh that is Henry from
- 22:55Speaker 1: all to bon News. Show me your porkner class, show
- 22:59Speaker 1: you my brat.
- 23:04Speaker 3: So yeah, it's the interior of the q SUCs on
- 23:08Speaker 3: looks unreal and it's it's basically debuting where out he's
- 23:11Speaker 3: going to be going with its interiors, because I've just
- 23:14Speaker 3: been kind of bored without his interiors recently, and I
- 23:17Speaker 3: think this is a huge step forward. So a big
- 23:19Speaker 3: curve display ahead of the driver. Yeah, so they're really
- 23:23Speaker 3: just focusing on tech and making it all sort of standout.
- 23:26Speaker 3: So I be came to give that a crack once.
- 23:29Speaker 3: Once it finally launches and it debuts the new new
- 23:32Speaker 3: electric platform for the Volkswagen Group as well, it will
- 23:35Speaker 3: be the one that's said with.
- 23:38Speaker 2: Other products in the group, so Bob be keanges to
- 23:40Speaker 2: how it also goes.
- 23:41Speaker 1: Two cool concepts I saw was like the Porsche Mission
- 23:45Speaker 1: X if they yeah, if they do another Batman that's
- 23:50Speaker 1: the Batman car.
- 23:51Speaker 3: Yeah, so Mission X I think they debuted earlier in
- 23:55Speaker 3: the year in June, but that looks unreal. And but
- 24:00Speaker 3: Porsche they listed recently, so they had an IPO that
- 24:05Speaker 3: they've had a huge cash injection, so they are spending
- 24:09Speaker 3: big on future products. They're electrifying, Boxed and Cayman. So
- 24:14Speaker 3: I think that that they really want to go hard
- 24:17Speaker 3: on leveraging that brand and being able to take some
- 24:20Speaker 3: of the platforms that they're developing for the entire group,
- 24:23Speaker 3: sticking a Porsche badge on them and just charging huge
- 24:26Speaker 3: dollars to make it all happen.
- 24:27Speaker 1: As a huge Cayman fan, if the photos I've seen
- 24:30Speaker 1: the renders I've seen are actually real. I'm going to
- 24:33Speaker 1: be massively disappointed. Massively.
- 24:36Speaker 3: I find a lot with a lot of the German renders,
- 24:39Speaker 3: they typically pretty spot on.
- 24:41Speaker 2: There. They got little German sleuths just in the shadows.
- 24:46Speaker 1: The other one the just real quick. The other one
- 24:48Speaker 1: that I saw was the Mercedes, that orange Mercedes.
- 24:53Speaker 2: Oh the I have to look at some Mercedes. I
- 24:57Speaker 2: think it's the CLA.
- 24:58Speaker 1: It was kind of like the vision.
- 25:00Speaker 2: Yeah, it's the CLA class concept.
- 25:02Speaker 3: Yeah, it's it's effectively their Model three competitor. Mercedes is
- 25:08Speaker 3: really they've really lost their way a little bit. I
- 25:11Speaker 3: reckon all their cars kind of look the same. I
- 25:14Speaker 3: just don't know that it doesn't feel to me like
- 25:16Speaker 3: they have a real sort of plan, and that's a
- 25:19Speaker 3: little bit concerning. So this this looks better than what
- 25:23Speaker 3: I've seen previously from Mercedes, but a lot of their
- 25:25Speaker 3: stuff was just.
- 25:26Speaker 2: Starting to look and feel all the exact same.
- 25:28Speaker 1: Oh, by the way, did they did they confirm they're
- 25:31Speaker 1: chucking the V eight back in the the.
- 25:33Speaker 2: C sixty three. Now they've confirmed that they're not. There
- 25:35Speaker 2: was arena that they were and then they're now said no, no, no,
- 25:38Speaker 2: they're actually just going to stick over.
- 25:40Speaker 1: No no, no, no, no, no, now we fucked it.
- 25:44Speaker 1: Nah no worry about it, mate, no worry about it. No,
- 25:49Speaker 1: we're not doing that. So yeah, all.
- 25:50Speaker 2: Right, that's a big mistake.
- 25:52Speaker 1: Do you know what's not a big mistake? Do you
- 25:55Speaker 1: know what's the greatest idea in the last twenty years
- 25:59Speaker 1: in order motive? Bringing back the Toyota century and bringing
- 26:03Speaker 1: it as an suv?
- 26:05Speaker 2: Is it? Thing is? And with sliding doors?
- 26:08Speaker 1: I love it. By the way, that's an option. You
- 26:10Speaker 1: don't have to have the sliding door.
- 26:11Speaker 2: It's just it is. Has dropped my oh drop? Can you?
- 26:18Speaker 1: Yeah? Sorry? And that's what happens when the maid is
- 26:20Speaker 1: under the desk. Let's see it just Rosa, Rosa, keep
- 26:24Speaker 1: it down. I'm trying to make a podcast there. That's
- 26:27Speaker 1: my that's a weird thing about my mum. Right, whenever
- 26:30Speaker 1: she her cleaning lady is Italian, and whenever like she
- 26:33Speaker 1: speaks to a cleaning lady, she somehow just gets an
- 26:36Speaker 1: Italian accent. And it's so awkward. It's so bad and bloody.
- 26:41Speaker 1: Skirting bulge, need need a bit of a gallon over
- 26:44Speaker 1: and Rosa, what.
- 26:45Speaker 2: Are you doing?
- 26:46Speaker 1: A dodger? I am the curtains. What are you doing
- 26:54Speaker 1: fucking right, Jesus. Anyway, the Toyota Century SUV. I think
- 27:00Speaker 1: it looks great. I think it looks fantastic. That is
- 27:04Speaker 1: a terrible photo, but the I think everything about it's
- 27:07Speaker 1: really cool. I would have liked to have seen them
- 27:09Speaker 1: put a V eight in this thing, but instead it's
- 27:11Speaker 1: the V six plug in hybrid, right, so three.
- 27:14Speaker 3: Point five liter V six plug in hybrid. I think
- 27:18Speaker 3: it's the engine they use in the undra from memory,
- 27:22Speaker 3: they use a FOURCELM No, I'm pretty sure that's one
- 27:24Speaker 3: they used in tundra.
- 27:25Speaker 1: So I thought it was Alexis.
- 27:27Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, they.
- 27:28Speaker 3: Used an Alexis as well, but it actually sounds good
- 27:30Speaker 3: in the tundra. So yeah, it's It is just a
- 27:34Speaker 3: crazy looking thing, isn't it.
- 27:36Speaker 2: Yeah. I don't know. I just wonder who buys these things.
- 27:42Speaker 2: People will just yeah, it's just good.
- 27:47Speaker 1: I just need to judge. Look, it's I need to
- 27:50Speaker 1: go down Paramatta Road looking like an Asian emperor.
- 27:55Speaker 3: Yeah, it's like a just an Asian plument.
- 28:01Speaker 1: It's a gangster car.
- 28:02Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 28:02Speaker 1: I would choose this over a rolls Rose any day.
- 28:05Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, it is. It is full on love.
- 28:08Speaker 1: Everything about it, love, how the bird is everywhere. Just
- 28:11Speaker 1: they've they've done to that bird what Rolls Royce did
- 28:14Speaker 1: to the Spirit of Ecstasy. They're just like, in fact,
- 28:17Speaker 1: that's what I want to see in the next Mortal Kombat.
- 28:20Speaker 1: I want to see the bird versus the Spirit of Ecstasy.
- 28:25Speaker 2: That would be funny.
- 28:28Speaker 3: Yeah, and then I'm going to be doing something very
- 28:31Speaker 3: exciting that I can't talk about for a little while.
- 28:33Speaker 2: Why not, it's under embargo. Let's just say it relates
- 28:37Speaker 2: to a brand that we've been speaking about. That's there.
- 28:41Speaker 2: We goes. That narrows it down.
- 28:44Speaker 1: Someone's made friends. Sorry, I'm getting distracted. We got a message.
- 28:51Speaker 3: Hang ones.
- 28:55Speaker 4: Family, family, Oh my god, it's me Donnell. Bloody miss
- 29:03Speaker 4: she little parently. I miss you, darn darling. Look are
- 29:09Speaker 4: you in Germany? Bloody hate Nah, your frank Fins in
- 29:13Speaker 4: your Hamburgers. Nah, come back, I'm Darlan. Come back to
- 29:19Speaker 4: Donner's caravan, and I've got a whole meal waiting for
- 29:23Speaker 4: you right here. You can eat all the bloody Hamburgers
- 29:28Speaker 4: and Frankfurt you want to.
- 29:29Speaker 1: Eat, Dylan.
- 29:29Speaker 4: I'll keep them warm for you. I'll keep them. I've
- 29:32Speaker 4: got a couple of burgers under me tits to keep
- 29:35Speaker 4: them warm. Don't ask me where I'm keeping the Frankfurt O.
- 29:43Speaker 4: This stalk of Frankfurt is making me bloody, ahungry, and
- 29:49Speaker 4: oh every bloody delicious And I probably hope you have
- 29:53Speaker 4: a good time. Darln. Come back to me caravan soon,
- 29:57Speaker 4: Darlan love you. Oh Jesus, now, I fucking hang up
- 30:02Speaker 4: me phone. My bloody fingers are too fat to this ship.
- 30:12Speaker 1: You should call her.
- 30:14Speaker 2: I think.
- 30:16Speaker 1: I think you better put an extra date on this
- 30:19Speaker 1: trip of yours because I think you've got a trip
- 30:20Speaker 1: to the caravan.
- 30:25Speaker 2: Yeah, I'll just get them to drop me off in
- 30:26Speaker 2: the middle of Australia. Yeah, it's from.
- 30:29Speaker 1: Oh Jesus, you know it's crazy too. One of should
- 30:32Speaker 1: we talk about? Should we talk about some of the
- 30:34Speaker 1: some of our socials have been going off some of
- 30:37Speaker 1: the some of the comments on our Yeah god, what
- 30:40Speaker 1: is that? Over six hundred thousand plays? Should we read
- 30:43Speaker 1: a couple of these comments? Yeah, what I loved is
- 30:46Speaker 1: one of our One of our clips sort of went
- 30:48Speaker 1: a little bit viral this week. But the comments are,
- 30:52Speaker 1: oh my god, they're so good. I won't name names.
- 30:56Speaker 1: Miles Miles, Miles, cool day. You lost me as a
- 31:03Speaker 1: fan your chuff dick stick to your forward ranger. Yeah,
- 31:08Speaker 1: absolutely missed the point of the cheviny sheer is. You
- 31:11Speaker 1: know what's crazy when you put out a video like this,
- 31:15Speaker 1: it's just a little snippet, like it's a tiny snippet
- 31:17Speaker 1: of the thing. So I guess people have sort of
- 31:19Speaker 1: seen it as out of context, like it's a dumb
- 31:22Speaker 1: little bit that mean you did and somehow it's sort
- 31:25Speaker 1: of caught on fire a little bit.
- 31:27Speaker 3: But some of the comments, Yeah, if your name is Miles,
- 31:30Speaker 3: I'm kind of just not listening to whatever you're saying anyway.
- 31:33Speaker 1: Yeah, thanks Miles from nowhere. Oh look at this guy, Paul,
- 31:37Speaker 1: You're dead wrong. Pick a new career. One guy who's
- 31:43Speaker 1: like one guy who's like you wouldn't know what you're
- 31:45Speaker 1: talking about. Pick a new career. It's like, all right, bro,
- 31:48Speaker 1: you sit on your fucking chair and Port Macquarie or
- 31:50Speaker 1: wherever you're from. You're like, oh, oh bloody, I haven't work.
- 31:55Speaker 1: Shin shah. I got hit in the head with a
- 31:57Speaker 1: brick and so just sit here on the couch. I'm
- 32:04Speaker 1: pretty good during the AM. I can usually sort of
- 32:07Speaker 1: pick on me phone and write a couple of comments
- 32:09Speaker 1: on me phone, but usually be after lunch. I'll probably
- 32:13Speaker 1: just sit on the couch and piss myself.
- 32:17Speaker 2: Yeah, that's pretty much him.
- 32:21Speaker 3: We've got a few emails as well, so this one
- 32:25Speaker 3: is from Hendrix says gooday guys.
- 32:30Speaker 2: First off, just want to say I love the podcast.
- 32:33Speaker 2: It's fantastic on your champ.
- 32:35Speaker 3: My mum, who has to commute to Sydney from Canberra
- 32:38Speaker 3: twice a week, mentions me that she doesn't have anything
- 32:40Speaker 3: new to listen to on the drive.
- 32:43Speaker 1: Ladies, and we got King of the Mills right here.
- 32:47Speaker 1: If you're ever going to give her a podcast, I'll
- 32:49Speaker 1: tell you what. Give her one. Listen to Paul marreck
- 32:53Speaker 1: on this podcast and you will never lose your mum again.
- 32:56Speaker 1: You just follow the yelling drip road.
- 32:58Speaker 3: Oh god.
- 32:58Speaker 2: And then he said now loves it and can't get enough. Yeah,
- 33:02Speaker 2: I feel very bad for it.
- 33:04Speaker 3: And then he also said, I thought i'd ask a
- 33:07Speaker 3: question about Chinese made cars based on what you've seen
- 33:10Speaker 3: so far. If it was a blind test, you reckon,
- 33:12Speaker 3: you could tell the difference between a Chinese made car
- 33:14Speaker 3: and one made somewhere like Germany or Japan. What's your
- 33:18Speaker 3: opinion on brands starting to manufacture their cars in China?
- 33:21Speaker 3: And do you reckon the entire car industry will follow
- 33:23Speaker 3: every other industry and move everything China. Anyway, guys love
- 33:27Speaker 3: the show, keep it up and please trying not to
- 33:29Speaker 3: get sued again. Yeah, I'm sure your lawyers want to
- 33:31Speaker 3: break Yes, definitely, so yeah, yeah, exactly so blind tests,
- 33:38Speaker 3: I reckon.
- 33:39Speaker 2: Look, I think just because I do this a lot,
- 33:41Speaker 2: I would be able to tell the difference.
- 33:42Speaker 3: But I think if you've got an average person and
- 33:45Speaker 3: you put them in a car, they wouldn't be able
- 33:47Speaker 3: to tell the difference.
- 33:49Speaker 2: That's my opinion. What do you think to me?
- 33:51Speaker 1: I think absolutely you could tell the difference. I feel
- 33:53Speaker 1: like if we put I don't know, a German may car,
- 33:56Speaker 1: maybe like a Q five next to know, what about
- 34:00Speaker 1: a Porsche macarn next to say Haval, I think you'd
- 34:08Speaker 1: be able to tell the difference. Right, you could just
- 34:09Speaker 1: sit in the car and you'd be like, well, the
- 34:11Speaker 1: Haval's steering wheel is in like position. Wise, it's in
- 34:14Speaker 1: the oddest place ever. Before you even drive the thing,
- 34:17Speaker 1: It's like it's a thin steering wheel. You can get
- 34:19Speaker 1: a in an a macarm for instance, And.
- 34:23Speaker 3: No, do I ever run your sort of fingers along
- 34:26Speaker 3: that you'd be able to tell the difference.
- 34:28Speaker 2: I would have thought, how does that go?
- 34:29Speaker 1: Give me a bit of a description. Let me see
- 34:32Speaker 1: your rim rubbing looks like you've done a bit of it.
- 34:35Speaker 1: I'm looking at the conditioner bottle in the background. What
- 34:37Speaker 1: have you been up to?
- 34:41Speaker 3: But the other question about manufacturing in China doesn't bother
- 34:44Speaker 3: me pretty much. Everything's manufactured in China. Yeah, as long
- 34:48Speaker 3: as it is cheaper for it, then that's fine. But
- 34:50Speaker 3: the problem is when they manufacture something in Germany and
- 34:53Speaker 3: going to manufacturing in China and it's ten grand more expensive,
- 34:57Speaker 3: it's like, well, there's.
- 34:58Speaker 2: Only one person winning from that question. It's not me.
- 35:01Speaker 2: So yeah.
- 35:02Speaker 1: Having said that, I think I think Chinese made brands
- 35:06Speaker 1: are getting better. I mean, when haval Like launched on
- 35:10Speaker 1: the scene, I didn't see I mean, there was room
- 35:12Speaker 1: for improvement, but it wasn't that bad at all. We've
- 35:16Speaker 1: seen when MG came on the on the scene, they
- 35:22Speaker 1: for me, they had a lot of a lot of
- 35:24Speaker 1: work to be done. What they're coming out with lately
- 35:27Speaker 1: is I mean, the the MG four is quite solid.
- 35:30Speaker 1: The stuff that they debuted at the munch at the
- 35:32Speaker 1: Munich Motor Show. Looks incredible. That the cyber stuff wow, oy.
- 35:37Speaker 2: In c Yeah, that's that's pretty cool.
- 35:40Speaker 1: That's cool just on name alone.
- 35:41Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly.
- 35:43Speaker 3: We've got another email here from Driving Paradox from Peter.
- 35:49Speaker 3: He wrote, Hi, first time listener to podcasts today, came
- 35:52Speaker 3: across it and decided to listen to you to having
- 35:54Speaker 3: John kodogon, fantastic session. Entertaining yets to informative. Not being
- 35:59Speaker 3: censored is the key.
- 36:00Speaker 2: Thank you for that. We're going to get him on again.
- 36:04Speaker 2: I had to chat with him the other day, so
- 36:05Speaker 2: he's keen to come back on along with tread Yeah,
- 36:09Speaker 2: they'd have a listen.
- 36:10Speaker 1: To Wait wait, wait, did you see Trevor attempted? Look
- 36:16Speaker 1: up Trevor, Look up Trevor long Socials. I think the
- 36:20Speaker 1: very first square is him doing the nourburg Ring in
- 36:23Speaker 1: some crappy rental.
- 36:25Speaker 2: That's right, in a rental car, and he's like.
- 36:27Speaker 1: Oh, it's just a tourist drive, guys. I can't wait.
- 36:29Speaker 1: I've always wanted to do this off a tempered amount panorama.
- 36:33Speaker 5: Oh god, and then he gets there pays like thirty
- 36:37Speaker 5: Euros and dudes are like beeping him, touting him, flashing
- 36:41Speaker 5: their lights in their lambos and stuff like that.
- 36:44Speaker 1: Ah, Trevor needs to have a shave. Jesus Christ. That
- 36:50Speaker 1: white Beard is not doing him any favors.
- 36:52Speaker 2: He looks like he's been scaring.
- 36:54Speaker 1: He looks like he's been sprinkled with castor sugar.
- 36:58Speaker 2: She's scaring the kids. He's not allowed.
- 37:02Speaker 1: God, he looks he looks like he's just stuck his
- 37:04Speaker 1: face in a big pile of powder at a trap house.
- 37:10Speaker 3: So we got another email from breath Hi Gaudian Paul.
- 37:14Speaker 3: First off, just let me say I'm only here for
- 37:17Speaker 3: the merch best car podcast ever. Haha. That statement should
- 37:22Speaker 3: get me something, right, mate, he said. Been following Paul
- 37:27Speaker 3: for some time with the car reviews he does on YouTube.
- 37:30Speaker 3: Always look forward to the bell going off to get
- 37:34Speaker 3: another video drop.
- 37:35Speaker 2: I love the humor and the swearing. I don't swear,
- 37:38Speaker 2: he wrote, Trevor.
- 37:41Speaker 3: Now, and then he said should I even followed Trevor now?
- 37:46Speaker 3: With every new episode, I'm cracking up in the car
- 37:48Speaker 3: and honestly people drive past thinking what is this blog?
- 37:51Speaker 2: Laughing at?
- 37:53Speaker 3: Keep making these podcasts would be great to win Australian
- 37:56Speaker 3: Podcast Listeners Award. Yeah, but love that another one to
- 38:00Speaker 3: hang on the wall in the play's office.
- 38:03Speaker 1: In his book self, Yeah, actually you attended the the
- 38:07Speaker 1: Why You're in Europe. You attended the Pawn Awards. I
- 38:10Speaker 1: believe you just got best anal. Well done on that
- 38:14Speaker 1: first micro pasdanal from every car company you've ever dealt with.
- 38:21Speaker 2: From drives Lawyers.
- 38:23Speaker 1: Yeah, we thought this would be a fun little podcast,
- 38:26Speaker 1: just to do a bit of a check in. Obviously
- 38:28Speaker 1: it's never ideal when you're on zoom and I'm here,
- 38:31Speaker 1: but we thought the cars looked interesting enough to talk
- 38:34Speaker 1: about it, and they certainly do. Is that the one
- 38:36Speaker 1: motor show do you reckon of the year? I was
- 38:38Speaker 1: going to say it could be the Tokyo or Detroit
- 38:41Speaker 1: Motor Show, but what's what's the big one? You would
- 38:43Speaker 1: save the calendar year where all the oh, the Geneva
- 38:47Speaker 1: Motor Show as well. Yeah, the where you kind of
- 38:50Speaker 1: go all right, this is the one where we know
- 38:52Speaker 1: everyone's just going to be going bang with the.
- 38:56Speaker 2: Well, this is the thing.
- 38:57Speaker 3: Motor shows are pretty much dead, so Detroit has scaled down,
- 39:01Speaker 3: The LA Motor Show is pretty much dead. New York
- 39:03Speaker 3: motor shows kind of a non event. Geneva Motor Show
- 39:06Speaker 3: is dead. The next Geneva Motor Show is actually going
- 39:08Speaker 3: to be in Guitar, which.
- 39:10Speaker 2: Was bizarre thing in the world.
- 39:13Speaker 3: And then Frankfurt Motor Show used to used to basically
- 39:18Speaker 3: alternate with with.
- 39:20Speaker 2: Paris and then Paris is on.
- 39:25Speaker 3: So yeah, I think that motor shows as we know
- 39:28Speaker 3: them are very much gone. But it's going to be
- 39:30Speaker 3: more of this style of thing where we see activations
- 39:34Speaker 3: and it's going to be groups of brands that get
- 39:36Speaker 3: together as opposed to all of the brands. So yeah,
- 39:40Speaker 3: I don't know. I don't think we're going to see
- 39:43Speaker 3: the traditional motor show back anytime soon.
- 39:46Speaker 1: One thing I did notice with and I know we've
- 39:48Speaker 1: sort of you've already touched on this, but whether you
- 39:51Speaker 1: like it or not, we're going to what ev world
- 39:55Speaker 1: like it is happening. They're all doing it. They're all
- 39:57Speaker 1: doing it.
- 39:58Speaker 3: Yeah, they're all talking electric vehicles and and that seems
- 40:00Speaker 3: to very much be the future here.
- 40:03Speaker 2: And that's the problem.
- 40:04Speaker 3: I mean, if you want an internal combustion car, I
- 40:06Speaker 3: mean you just may not be able to buy one.
- 40:09Speaker 3: If they're all just manufacturing EPs. It just means no
- 40:11Speaker 3: one's really going to be concentrating on internal combustion cars.
- 40:15Speaker 3: So we'll see where that sort of leads us. But yeah,
- 40:19Speaker 3: it's very much going down that path.
- 40:20Speaker 1: I think I better leave you to it. The maids
- 40:22Speaker 1: on the bed and I think she said something about
- 40:24Speaker 1: you signing the hairy check book.
- 40:29Speaker 6: If you did enjoy this episode, please make sure you
- 40:32Speaker 6: leave us a rating on whichever platform you're listening to

- 40:42Speaker 1: You know what our you know what our closing thing
- 40:44Speaker 1: should be. You literally singing the little Pavloy song Stan.
- 40:49Speaker 2: Yeah, that's not going to be happening.
- 40:51Speaker 1: That's going to be happening. DJ Diamond Davis, who does
- 40:53Speaker 1: our production? Make it happy?
- 40:57Speaker 2: Dear pavl I wrote to you, but you still ain't calling.
- 41:00Speaker 3: I left my phone, my grinder link, and my Quantus
- 41:03Speaker 3: Frequent Flyer status at the bottom.
- 41:05Speaker 2: I sent your two dms back in autumn. You must
- 41:07Speaker 2: not have got them.
- 41:09Speaker 3: There probably was a problem with the Graham or some shit,
- 41:12Speaker 3: but anyways, fuck it.
- 41:13Speaker 1: What's been up man?
- 41:14Speaker 2: How's your daughter. My girl friend's pregnant too.
- 41:17Speaker 1: I've had to be a father if I have a daughter.
- 41:20Speaker 2: Guess what I'm gonna call it.
- 41:22Speaker 1: I'm a name of Donna. I heard about your comrade
- 41:27Speaker 1: Gordy too. I'm sorry. I heard a friend.
- 41:30Speaker 3: Sell his stinger too because of some picture didn't want him.

- 41:45Speaker 1: your pictures.
- 41:46Speaker 2: Man.
