Transcript
- 0:00[SPEAKER_00]: You'll have somewhere between 50 and 70,000 thoughts today.
- 0:03[SPEAKER_00]: 95% of them are coming from your subconscious mind.
- 0:08[SPEAKER_00]: And when you're only choosing 5%, changing anything about your health gets a lot harder than anyone told you.
- 0:15[SPEAKER_00]: This is why you got sick.
- 0:17[SPEAKER_00]: I'm Teclody Francesco, Certified Mindbody Practitioner, and Certified Holistic Life Coach.
- 0:22[SPEAKER_00]: This podcast is for women living with chronic illness, autoimmune disease, IBS, chronic fatigue, PCOS, andometriosis, migraines, fibromyalgia, or persistent symptoms that no one can fully explain.
- 0:37[SPEAKER_00]: Twice a week we look at how emotion drives chronic illness in women.
- 0:41[SPEAKER_00]: One episode goes deeper into the pattern beneath the symptoms.
- 0:45[SPEAKER_00]: The other gives you a quick way to interrupt the cycle.
- 0:48[SPEAKER_00]: If you're done organizing your life around symptoms and flare-ups, this is where that changes.
- 0:54[SPEAKER_00]: This podcast shows mind-body education.
- 0:57[SPEAKER_00]: It is not medical advice and is designed to complement, not replace your medical care.
- 1:02[SPEAKER_00]: Let's begin.
- 1:05[SPEAKER_00]: In this episode, you'll discover why almost every thought you have about yourself and your body today is one you've already had.
- 1:12[SPEAKER_00]: You'll learn why taking conscious steps and intentional action toward healing can feel like you're not moving or progressing, no matter how committed you are to it.
- 1:21[SPEAKER_00]: And you'll learn what it takes to reach the part of your mind that's been subconsciously impacting your healing journey the whole time.
- 1:29[SPEAKER_00]: You have made the decision to get better and you've made it more than once.
- 1:33[SPEAKER_00]: You've decided consciously and deliberately that you want to heal and you'll do whatever it takes, that you want to feel safe in your body, that you want things to be different.
- 1:43[SPEAKER_00]: That decision is real, and it lives in the 5%.
- 1:48[SPEAKER_00]: The 5% is your conscious mind.
- 1:52[SPEAKER_00]: It's the part of you that sets the goal, makes the plan reads the book, starts the protocol, decides today is the day things change.
- 2:00[SPEAKER_00]: It's the part you can hear and the part that feels like you.
- 2:04[SPEAKER_00]: But underneath it, there's another part running the entire time.
- 2:08[SPEAKER_00]: Your subconscious mind, then 95%.
- 2:11[SPEAKER_00]: And that part isn't making new decisions every morning.
- 2:15[SPEAKER_00]: It's running automatic programming.
- 2:18[SPEAKER_00]: Beliefs and responses that got installed a long time ago and have been repeating ever since.
- 2:23[SPEAKER_00]: Mostly without you knowing they were even there.
- 2:26[SPEAKER_00]: And they repeat far more than you'd guess.
- 2:29[SPEAKER_00]: Psychologists estimate that around 90% of the thoughts you have today are the same ones you had yesterday.
- 2:35[SPEAKER_00]: So the 95% isn't just running quietly in the background.
- 2:39[SPEAKER_00]: It's running the same thought patterns over and over day after day.
- 2:44[SPEAKER_00]: Here's why this matters for your body.
- 2:46[SPEAKER_00]: A lot of that programming isn't neutral.
- 2:50[SPEAKER_00]: In fact, psychologists also estimate that around 85% of all our thoughts are negative.
- 2:57[SPEAKER_00]: Think about that.
- 2:58[SPEAKER_00]: If you have 50 to 70,000 thoughts a day and 85% are negative, that is still thousands of thousands of negative thoughts you're having.
- 3:08[SPEAKER_00]: And for a woman with chronic illness that negative programming can sound like this, my body can't be trusted.
- 3:14[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not safe.
- 3:20[SPEAKER_00]: You didn't consciously choose any of those and most of the time you don't even recognize that they're there.
- 3:26[SPEAKER_00]: But they're shaping the 95% of your thoughts and reactions that happen on their own before your conscious mind ever gets to say.
- 3:33[SPEAKER_00]: So what happens when the two disagree?
- 3:36[SPEAKER_00]: Your conscious 5% decides, I'm safe, I'm healing, I'm doing everything right.
- 3:41[SPEAKER_00]: And your subconscious 95% keeps running the old programming.
- 3:45[SPEAKER_00]: No, we're not okay.
- 3:46[SPEAKER_00]: Something is wrong.
- 3:47[SPEAKER_00]: My body's about to break down.
- 3:49[SPEAKER_00]: One of those you woke up and you chose this morning, the other has been running in the background for many years, and the older programming wins every time.
- 4:00[SPEAKER_00]: Not because you're weak or not trying hard enough or somehow sabotaging yourself, because you're asking 5% of your mind to overpower the other 95%.
- 4:10[SPEAKER_00]: and it doesn't matter how badly the 5% won't set.
- 4:14[SPEAKER_00]: This is why you can do everything right, where you can see it, and it still feels like nothing is shifting underneath.
- 4:20[SPEAKER_00]: The part of you you can see is the 5%.
- 4:22[SPEAKER_00]: The part actually shaping your body, your mind, your thoughts, is the 95% you can't.
- 4:29[SPEAKER_00]: That's the pattern.
- 4:30[SPEAKER_00]: I live this for years, and it's the whole reason I understand it now.
- 4:34[SPEAKER_00]: For a long time, I threw everything I had at the physical.
- 4:38[SPEAKER_00]: The protocols, the supplements, the routines, every conscious decision I could make about my body, I made.
- 4:45[SPEAKER_00]: I was determined to fix the way I related to it, and I was doing all of that from the five percent.
- 4:51[SPEAKER_00]: The part of me I could see in here and direct an influence.
- 4:55[SPEAKER_00]: and something shifted, but the big transformation that I wanted never really happened.
- 5:01[SPEAKER_00]: The biggest shifts, the moments things actually fell into place, came when I stopped trying to fix everything on the surface and started rewiring what was underneath.
- 5:11[SPEAKER_00]: Because that is where these patterns sit in the 95%.
- 5:15[SPEAKER_00]: And when I got in there and dug around, I found things running my life that I had no idea were even there.
- 5:22[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to give you a couple of examples.
- 5:24[SPEAKER_00]: Here's the first one.
- 5:25[SPEAKER_00]: My whole life, I had a relentless drive to outperform, to be the best to win.
- 5:31[SPEAKER_00]: And I had always credited that drive for everything I had achieved to my determination.
- 5:37[SPEAKER_00]: My results, my scholarship, my career, I thought it was all ambition.
- 5:41[SPEAKER_00]: It wasn't underneath it was a fear I had never looked at once.
- 5:47[SPEAKER_00]: a fear of being left out, of not being picked, of ending up on the outside alone.
- 5:52[SPEAKER_00]: That drive I was so proud of was never really about winning.
- 5:57[SPEAKER_00]: It was about making sure I was never left out again.
- 6:00[SPEAKER_00]: Because when you're the best, you can't be left out.
- 6:04[SPEAKER_00]: You get picked for the team.
- 6:05[SPEAKER_00]: You get invited to places.
- 6:06[SPEAKER_00]: You get validated and people choose you.
- 6:09[SPEAKER_00]: And I couldn't see that
- 6:17[SPEAKER_00]: Here's another one, and it's harder to admit.
- 6:19[SPEAKER_00]: There was someone very close to me who I believed I had wronged, a long time ago, and that was because they directly blamed me for how their life had ended up.
- 6:28[SPEAKER_00]: For years I tried to make up for it, and I appeased this person.
- 6:32[SPEAKER_00]: I kept the peace at any cost.
- 6:34[SPEAKER_00]: I bent over backwards to make them feel loved and supported and special.
- 6:38[SPEAKER_00]: I let them say and do whatever they wanted because I carried so much guilt.
- 6:43[SPEAKER_00]: I truly believed I had shaped their entire life in a negative way and then I saw what was actually underneath it.
- 6:51[SPEAKER_00]: All of that bending over backwards, all of that appeasing.
- 6:54[SPEAKER_00]: It wasn't selfless at all.
- 6:57[SPEAKER_00]: It was coming from a selfish place.
- 6:59[SPEAKER_00]: because I was doing it to make myself feel better.
- 7:02[SPEAKER_00]: I was trying to level a scorecard and settle a debt that I felt I owed.
- 7:07[SPEAKER_00]: But you can't control how another person thinks or acts or responds to you.
- 7:12[SPEAKER_00]: You can only ever control yourself.
- 7:14[SPEAKER_00]: So I poured years of energy toward trying to repair something that was never mine to control, while the guilt driving it never moved an inch.
- 7:22[SPEAKER_00]: These are the patterns you cannot see on your own.
- 7:25[SPEAKER_00]: They don't announce themselves easily.
- 7:27[SPEAKER_00]: They sit underneath and shape what you think and the decisions you make and how you show up every single day.
- 7:33[SPEAKER_00]: And when you hold emotions like guilt or the belief that you don't belong for years at a time, those trapped emotions and patterns that go unchecked, manifest as real physical symptoms.
- 7:43[SPEAKER_00]: So why does the 95% win?
- 7:46[SPEAKER_00]: Why can't the part of you that wants to heal just override the part that doesn't?
- 7:51[SPEAKER_00]: It comes down to how much each part of your mind can actually hold at once.
- 7:55[SPEAKER_00]: Your conscious mind can only focus on one thing at a time, maybe two before it starts to slip.
- 8:01[SPEAKER_00]: That is the part of you deciding to heal.
- 8:04[SPEAKER_00]: Your subconscious is handling thousands of things in that same moment all at once, without needing your attention for any of it.
- 8:11[SPEAKER_00]: So when you sit down in the morning and decide today, I'm safe, today I'm healing.
- 8:16[SPEAKER_00]: You're failing to overpower the 95% because you're bringing the smallest slowest part of your mind to a fight against the largest and fastest one.
- 8:25[SPEAKER_00]: And willpower a loan cannot close that gap because it's not built to?
- 8:30[SPEAKER_00]: Here's what does.
- 8:31[SPEAKER_00]: You cannot outwil the subconscious that you can reprogram it.
- 8:36[SPEAKER_00]: It learns in a completely different way than your conscious mind does.
- 8:40[SPEAKER_00]: And once you understand how it takes in new information, you stop fighting it and you start working with it.
- 8:45[SPEAKER_00]: This is where the change happens, and it's not in deciding harder.
- 8:50[SPEAKER_00]: It's in getting underneath a decision entirely.
- 8:53[SPEAKER_00]: This is the why.
- 8:54[SPEAKER_00]: This is why we care about this.
- 8:56[SPEAKER_00]: Because for years, you've been throwing your conscious 5% at something that lives in the 95%.
- 9:02[SPEAKER_00]: It is not that you haven't tried hard enough.
- 9:04[SPEAKER_00]: It's that trying harder was never the thing that was going to work now.
- 9:08[SPEAKER_00]: So here's how you actually get in there.
- 9:11[SPEAKER_00]: The subconscious doesn't change based on words alone.
- 9:14[SPEAKER_00]: You can tell yourself, I'm safe, I'm healing 1,000 times over and it will have little effect because the words on their own are not what it takes in.
- 9:23[SPEAKER_00]: It takes in the feeling underneath them.
- 9:25[SPEAKER_00]: That is the language it responds to, feeling over logic.
- 9:30[SPEAKER_00]: So it's not about repeating something new to yourself.
- 9:33[SPEAKER_00]: It's about handing your subconscious a real feeling to take in.
- 9:37[SPEAKER_00]: A powerful way to do this is to feel into a future version of you.
- 9:44[SPEAKER_00]: But for a lot of people, that can be hard because you feel so far removed from that reality.
- 9:49[SPEAKER_00]: And you end up trying to build a feeling from scratch and it doesn't always land.
- 9:52[SPEAKER_00]: It's not always effective.
- 9:54[SPEAKER_00]: Here's a more accessible way in.
- 9:56[SPEAKER_00]: And the beauty of it is that it is already inside you.
- 10:00[SPEAKER_00]: At some point in your past, in your life, your body felt good, it felt strong and healthy and supportive.
- 10:07[SPEAKER_00]: At some point, there was a time it felt like it was on your side, doing whatever you asked of it without a second thought.
- 10:15[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe that was years ago, maybe have glimpses of that body since.
- 10:19[SPEAKER_00]: Even if you've been sick a long time, there is a memory in there somewhere of your body feeling well.
- 10:26[SPEAKER_00]: That memory is the whole practice because the feeling attached to it is real and accessible.
- 10:31[SPEAKER_00]: Your subconscious mind struggles to tell the difference between feeling it now, and feeling it the moment it happened way back when.
- 10:38[SPEAKER_00]: So take 60 seconds and go back there.
- 10:41[SPEAKER_00]: Don't describe the memory, but try to feel it again.
- 10:45[SPEAKER_00]: Let your body really drop into how it actually felt to be in that moment, healthy and well.
- 10:51[SPEAKER_00]: You're not going to think about it or analyze it.
- 10:53[SPEAKER_00]: You're just feeling it.
- 10:55[SPEAKER_00]: And while you feel it, that is the information going in.
- 10:59[SPEAKER_00]: Once that becomes familiar, you can start doing the same thing with the future you couldn't reach before.
- 11:04[SPEAKER_00]: The version of you who is well now.
- 11:07[SPEAKER_00]: By then you know the feeling because you have been pulling it from a memory and you can carry it forward.
- 11:12[SPEAKER_00]: There's one more piece that makes this land even deeper.
- 11:15[SPEAKER_00]: There's a window every single day where your subconscious mind is more susceptible.
- 11:19[SPEAKER_00]: The minute before you fall asleep as you're drifting off.
- 11:23[SPEAKER_00]: That is when your subconscious is most open, so that's when you do this.
- 11:27[SPEAKER_00]: The last thing before you sleep, you drop into the feeling of a body that is well, and you let that be the last thing it takes in.
- 11:34[SPEAKER_00]: Everything we talked about today, the programming running underneath, the thoughts on repeat, the version of you that keeps getting overridden.
- 11:41[SPEAKER_00]: All of it adds up to one thing.
- 11:43[SPEAKER_00]: How you think, how you feel, and how you show up every day becomes who you believe you are.
- 11:48[SPEAKER_00]: It becomes your identity.
- 11:50[SPEAKER_00]: and your body has been responding to that identity the whole time.
- 11:54[SPEAKER_00]: So picture what changes when the identity shifts.
- 11:57[SPEAKER_00]: Mornings where you wake up and you do not immediately scan your body for what is wrong.
- 12:02[SPEAKER_00]: Where your first thought is not your symptoms, it's the coffee you get to have, or what you're wearing, or the thing you're actually looking forward to that day.
- 12:10[SPEAKER_00]: It stays where you feel a sensation in your body and you do not let it consume the whole day.
- 12:16[SPEAKER_00]: That's what becoming the version of you who heals is built to give you.
- 12:20[SPEAKER_00]: It's a seven-day audio series that reaches the 95% and starts handing those mornings back to you.
- 12:26[SPEAKER_00]: These are the exact shifts that set the foundation for me to reverse my two chronic diagnoses.
- 12:32[SPEAKER_00]: The link is in the show notes.
- 12:33[SPEAKER_00]: Read what the women who have already done it say change for them in a single week and start today.
- 12:39[SPEAKER_00]: Let's recap what we talked about today.
- 12:41[SPEAKER_00]: You have somewhere between 50 and 70,000 thoughts a day.
- 12:45[SPEAKER_00]: 95% come from your subconscious mind.
- 12:48[SPEAKER_00]: 90% are the same ones you had yesterday.
- 12:52[SPEAKER_00]: 85% are negative.
- 12:54[SPEAKER_00]: That programming has been shaping how your body responds without you realizing it.
- 12:58[SPEAKER_00]: Deciding to heal has never been enough on its own because that decision lives in the 5% that cannot outmuscle the rest.
- 13:06[SPEAKER_00]: This is not a willpower problem and it never was.
- 13:09[SPEAKER_00]: The way in is through feeling not force.
- 13:12[SPEAKER_00]: When you hand your subconscious the real feeling of a body that is well, even if it's a memory, you finally start communicating with the part that has been running the show all along.
- 13:22[SPEAKER_00]: I'll see you in the next episode.
