Transcript
- 0:00[SPEAKER_00]: Jacksonville Jack Wars fans welcome in to do vault daily presented by Jinjag.com and fueled by Bass Tax Coffee right now we are talking about training camp coming up in less than two weeks.
- 0:09[SPEAKER_00]: It starts not next Wednesday but the Wednesday after on July 29th I'll be out there cover and training camp all camp long.
- 0:17[SPEAKER_00]: Can't not wait for it, honestly.
- 0:18[SPEAKER_00]: It's one of my favorite times of the year because we're really getting back to football And you know me, you know, I love football So specifically Jaguar's football right now.
- 0:28[SPEAKER_00]: We're talking players that have the most to prove this training camp and A lot of players have a lot to prove on this roster quite frankly, but I went with the five players that I think
- 0:43[SPEAKER_00]: RNA position to, if they prove what they need to prove, have big years and show out.
- 0:53[SPEAKER_00]: That's kind of what I went with here.
- 0:56[SPEAKER_00]: There's some honorable mentions, players that you can argue.
- 0:59[SPEAKER_00]: I did also include one bonus player who probably doesn't have a clear path to actual playing time on one side of the ball.
- 1:10[SPEAKER_00]: but maybe a path to making the roster.
- 1:14[SPEAKER_00]: We'll talk about him as well at the end.
- 1:16[SPEAKER_00]: I'm excited again to really appreciate y'all being here.

- 1:24[SPEAKER_00]: Pick up some new Duval gear.
- 1:26[SPEAKER_00]: Help support the channel look good while doing it.
- 1:28[SPEAKER_00]: So right now, honorable mentions.
- 1:33[SPEAKER_00]: Chuma Doga, he's not competing for a starting job.
- 1:40[SPEAKER_00]: Was a primary rotational player last year who now has to prove that he even belongs on the roster?
- 1:48[SPEAKER_00]: Quite frankly.
- 1:50[SPEAKER_00]: I think there is a very real world where Tuma Doga does not make the team in 20, 26.
- 1:57[SPEAKER_00]: Now, I would say this right now, if you look at the roster, he would be your second swing tackle behind Walker Little and you do have Colvin Lannon coming back from injury.
- 2:09[SPEAKER_00]: So they might want to play it a little bit safe and keep Doga around just in case they feel like they really need him.
- 2:16[SPEAKER_00]: I personally though,
- 2:18[SPEAKER_00]: I want to see why I'm island play a little tackle, not because I want him to play tackle for the Jaguars, but because I think it'd be interesting to see.
- 2:27[SPEAKER_00]: He played tackle in college and he's a player that I think still has the ability to do that in a pinch.
- 2:39[SPEAKER_00]: I think Tumodoga is going to have a honestly an uphill battle making this roster.
- 2:45[SPEAKER_00]: because when you look at the numbers, you've got your starting five right now, Cole VanLan and Ezra Cleveland, Robert Hainesy, Patrick McCary, Anton Harrison.
- 2:52[SPEAKER_00]: Those guys, they all feel like locks to be on the roster.
- 2:55[SPEAKER_00]: Walker little, they could trade him.
- 2:58[SPEAKER_00]: I wouldn't add this point, I think that he's really good depth that four out of the five spots.
- 3:03[SPEAKER_00]: Um, Emmanuel Pregnant will be on the roster.
- 3:06[SPEAKER_00]: So now you're talking about seven players.
- 3:08[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, why am I alone?
- 3:09[SPEAKER_00]: Will be on the roster.
- 3:10[SPEAKER_00]: Now you're at eight players.
- 3:12[SPEAKER_00]: Jonah Monheim will be on the roster.
- 3:14[SPEAKER_00]: That's nine.
- 3:16[SPEAKER_00]: So Jaguars to keep chew my, I think they have to keep ten players and they might do that, right?
- 3:23[SPEAKER_00]: But you've got a lot of competition here, and so he's got to prove that he belongs on this roster, honestly.
- 3:33[SPEAKER_00]: I think he really does, because I think right now he is the tenth offensive
- 3:47[SPEAKER_00]: You kept Quentin Morris, I mean, you resound him.
- 3:52[SPEAKER_00]: You have Britain's strange, you drafted two titans.
- 3:55[SPEAKER_00]: You keep him five.
- 3:56[SPEAKER_00]: Hunter along was, it's Titan five, I think.
- 4:00[SPEAKER_00]: I guess you could argue it's a competition between he and Quentin Morris for Titan four.
- 4:06[SPEAKER_00]: But, you know, hey, Borgerter, Tanner Coziel, they're not going anywhere.
- 4:12[SPEAKER_00]: So if they keep five titans, Hunter along would be the fifth one right now.
- 4:17[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's more likely than they keep for.
- 4:21[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that's definitely one to keep an eye on.
- 4:25[SPEAKER_00]: Ventral Miller, I think you could make an argument there, just because he needs to prove to the coaching staff.
- 4:30[SPEAKER_00]: He needs to prove that he belongs in the starting lineup.
- 4:36[SPEAKER_00]: I think he's shown that throughout his play on the practice field over the years, especially last year and then actually once he had to play, which he got a fair amount of run last year.
- 4:46[SPEAKER_00]: I think he's shown that.
- 4:47[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think he has that much to prove entering this season from a training camp standpoint.
- 4:52[SPEAKER_00]: You know he plays hard.
- 4:53[SPEAKER_00]: You know he plays his butt off.
- 4:54[SPEAKER_00]: You know he's a smart player who can play physically and energized.
- 4:58[SPEAKER_00]: So I don't think he personally has that much to prove, but you could make that argument.
- 5:05[SPEAKER_00]: You could argue Caleb Ransoff for sure.
- 5:07[SPEAKER_00]: You could argue all the rookies, right?
- 5:09[SPEAKER_00]: But, you know, rookies from last year.
- 5:11[SPEAKER_00]: Caleb Ransoff, I think, you could say, is he gonna earn the third safety spot, probably?
- 5:20[SPEAKER_00]: Could he potentially jump Eric Murray and get a nice little,
- 5:29[SPEAKER_00]: start to his sophomore campaign, which is essentially his rookie campaign, and potentially, again, you know, become a starting safety for the Jack Wars, not just the third safety, but a starting safety.
- 5:40[SPEAKER_00]: And the Jack Wars will use three safety's a lot on the field, but could he become one of the top two safeties based on the way, he kind of gets things going at camp here.
- 5:49[SPEAKER_00]: I think that's going to be interesting for sure.
- 5:53[SPEAKER_00]: Again, a lot of different arguments to be made, but getting into my top five, now that we've been talking for a little bit, getting into my top five, I think Chris Rodriguez has a lot to prove.
- 6:02[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, he is familiar with this offense, played for Liam Cone before.
- 6:06[SPEAKER_00]: You know what, he's done at Washington, and that's been impressive, you know what he did with Liam Cone's offense and Kentucky, that was impressive, but you haven't seen him in a Jackwar uniform, and right now he's either expected to be
- 6:20[SPEAKER_00]: running back 1a or running back 1b and he just haven't seen anything yet.
- 6:24[SPEAKER_00]: So to me I think he's got a lot to prove just like basaltoot and he can play Lee Quint Allen.
- 6:33[SPEAKER_00]: He can play.
- 6:34[SPEAKER_00]: Jamari Taylor can play too.
- 6:36[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think Chris Rodriguez is like in any danger of not making the roster but if he wants to be 1a, he's got a lot of work to do.
- 6:45[SPEAKER_00]: I think he can do that.
- 6:46[SPEAKER_00]: I've always been a fan of his game.
- 6:50[SPEAKER_00]: You've got guys that are young and hungry, buying for those opportunities.
- 6:56[SPEAKER_00]: At wide receiver, I think Brian Thomas Jr., he just needs to prove to his,
- 7:04[SPEAKER_00]: teammates to his coaches, to himself that this start to this off season wasn't a fluke.
- 7:12[SPEAKER_00]: What happened last year when he was injured and playing through it, that was the fluke.
- 7:16[SPEAKER_00]: He needs to prove that he's ready to have a big, big year in training camp.
- 7:21[SPEAKER_00]: He has not had a consistently good training camp yet in his NFL career.
- 7:25[SPEAKER_00]: Very young NFL career.
- 7:27[SPEAKER_00]: Two years.
- 7:28[SPEAKER_00]: Can he do that now?
- 7:29[SPEAKER_00]: If he can, it will really prove in my opinion
- 7:34[SPEAKER_00]: to Trevor Lawrence, his teammates, his coaches, that he is ready to be the type of guy that they probably expected him to be last year.
- 7:43[SPEAKER_00]: Now, he won't have to do that to the same scale as he was going to be expected to last year because he was the un-doubted YDRC-1 entering the 2025 season and there really wasn't any competition.
- 7:56[SPEAKER_00]: Now you have Parker Washington, you have to cover your mires, you have Britain.
- 8:00[SPEAKER_00]: Stranger was really stepped up, you've got a bunch of different guys that can catch passes also a Travis Hunter.
- 8:05[SPEAKER_00]: So BTJ, even if he shows that he can be that guy, doesn't have to be consistently on a game-to-game basis, but he needs to show that he can do that.
- 8:16[SPEAKER_00]: And that he is that guy, former first-round pick, unbelievable rookie year, Big Time
- 8:24[SPEAKER_00]: a variety of things, including injury, and now it's his opportunity to prove to himself and to everyone else that he is back in a big way.
- 8:34[SPEAKER_00]: You've seen it so far throughout this off season without pads.
- 8:38[SPEAKER_00]: Once pads come on, once you start getting into preseason, it's time for BTJ to get rolling.
- 8:43[SPEAKER_00]: Another player who I don't think is proving he's a starter or anything like that, but
- 8:54[SPEAKER_00]: But Danny Striggow, Danny Striggow does not have the benefit that Wesley Williams has of being a fourth round draft pick that the Jaguar is traded up for.
- 9:04[SPEAKER_00]: Danny Striggow is a undrafted pre-agent, so I think what he's trying to prove here is that he is Edge 3 for the Jaguar's, and if he can do that, he either is going to have a nice
- 9:22[SPEAKER_00]: If he can't do that, and he is, you know, surpassed by a Wesley Williams on the Depth Chart.
- 9:29[SPEAKER_00]: If he is competing for Edge 4 Snaps with BJ Green and Zach Durfy, it could be curtains on him ending up being like a big time rotational edge.
- 9:42[SPEAKER_00]: My take is that I think he will prove to be a really good edge.
- 9:46[SPEAKER_00]: And I think he will be the Jaguar's edge three based on all of his traits combined, which like he's a pretty good athlete with decent size who plays his butt off, plays with his hair on fire, plays very smart and physical.
- 10:03[SPEAKER_00]: I'm excited to see him, but I'm excited to see Wesley Williams and BJ Green too, and even Zach Murphy.
- 10:07[SPEAKER_00]: It's a choice that the Jaguars have made to go young,
- 10:12[SPEAKER_00]: with not a lot of high draft capital with the edge depth.
- 10:18[SPEAKER_00]: Sticking on the defense of line here, I think Rook Aurora has a good amount to prove because I don't think he's just going to be given snaps this year.
- 10:29[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, he is the second most talented interior past Russia, the Jaguar's have behind here at Garmstadt.
- 10:35[SPEAKER_00]: That's clear based on his pedigree, his athleticism, and also his tape from last season.
- 10:42[SPEAKER_00]: But Matt Dickerson is a do your job type of guy.
- 10:47[SPEAKER_00]: If Matt Dickerson is doing his job and Rooka Roro is struggling with assignments, execution, et cetera, Rook is not just going to be given snapped.
- 10:58[SPEAKER_00]: So he has to earn that part of it too, right?
- 11:00[SPEAKER_00]: But it's also the opportunity to say, hey,
- 11:05[SPEAKER_00]: beyond 2026, I can be the starting 3 tech in this defense.
- 11:10[SPEAKER_00]: You can let Eric Armstrong stead walk after his contract expires and I can be the guy that heats up the quarterback consistently while also not being the liability against the run.
- 11:19[SPEAKER_00]: He has the opportunity to kind of take a step in that direction early and throughout training camp and I think that's going to be really big for him.
- 11:28[SPEAKER_00]: and the final player before our bonus player is Patrick McCarrie.
- 11:32[SPEAKER_00]: Look, Patrick McCarrie's got to prove that he belongs in the starting lineup.
- 11:36[SPEAKER_00]: And honestly, with the way the Jaguars have created depth over the last couple drafts with Pragonon and Monheim and Milo.
- 11:46[SPEAKER_00]: If McCary cannot prove that he belongs in the starting lineup, I think he could be a trade candidate, and if not, then he will be a cut candidate following the 2026 season when the Jaguar's can save $13 million against the cap by moving on.
- 12:02[SPEAKER_00]: I was excited about the Patrick McCary signing.
- 12:04[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's awesome how he played through injury last year, but he did not play very well consistently.
- 12:11[SPEAKER_00]: He's got to prove he belongs in that starting lineup.
- 12:16[SPEAKER_00]: You might not be seeing him too much.
- 12:17[SPEAKER_00]: Now, think about offensive line.
- 12:19[SPEAKER_00]: There's going to be a tradition.
- 12:20[SPEAKER_00]: There's going to be injuries.
- 12:21[SPEAKER_00]: I wouldn't say if Patrick McCary doesn't earn the starting job, you're not going to see him back on the field with the Jaguars because again, offensive line and injury and patching McCary's ability to play every spot.
- 12:31[SPEAKER_00]: But that's something to keep in mind.
- 12:35[SPEAKER_00]: And I'll say this, too.
- 12:37[SPEAKER_00]: I should have mentioned this before.
- 12:38[SPEAKER_00]: Patrick McCary's versatility is another reason Chuma Adoga needs to be that much more careful,
- 12:45[SPEAKER_00]: They could very easily if they need to.
- 12:47[SPEAKER_00]: If Patrick and Carrie isn't the starting right guard, use Patrick and Carrie as a swing player, a swing tackle too.
- 12:53[SPEAKER_00]: So, there's that part of it as well.
- 12:57[SPEAKER_00]: And then my bonus player here that I just wanted to shout out because he had such an unbelievable spring is Jabar Mughamit.
- 13:05[SPEAKER_00]: Player I liked in the draft a lot last year out in Oregon, the reason he didn't get drafted undersized, right?
- 13:11[SPEAKER_00]: Didn't run all that well, but really, he's undersized.
- 13:15[SPEAKER_00]: And he bald out all spring.
- 13:17[SPEAKER_00]: He bald out during his time in college, multiple stops, had a great final year at Oregon, had a great spring this spring, leading into training camp.
- 13:27[SPEAKER_00]: Can he carry that momentum in and earn a spot on this roster?
- 13:33[SPEAKER_00]: When you talk about the cornerback position, I think you have, you have obviously Travis Hunter,
- 13:44[SPEAKER_00]: Jordan Lewis, Jarian Jones, and Monterey Brown, locked in.
- 13:49[SPEAKER_00]: Christian Braswell, he's done a good job for them.
- 13:52[SPEAKER_00]: They like him.
- 13:55[SPEAKER_00]: Is he locked in for sure at CB5?
- 13:57[SPEAKER_00]: I wouldn't say that.
- 13:58[SPEAKER_00]: Then you have guys like Jparmohamed, Devon Marshall, Preston Hodg, all of whom made plays this offseason at the corner back spot.
- 14:13[SPEAKER_00]: You also have a veteran in Dame Jackson who is competing for a roster spot.
- 14:18[SPEAKER_00]: So that's going to be fascinating, but if you are Muhammad proves that he can continue that type of performance into training camp and end of the preseason, he's going to make the roster.
- 14:27[SPEAKER_00]: So that'll do it here.
- 14:28[SPEAKER_00]: Really appreciate y'all tuning in.
- 14:30[SPEAKER_00]: If you enjoy the content, you're pleased to like and subscribe, and also hit that high button.
- 14:34[SPEAKER_00]: Y'all have a good one.
