  I wanted to talk about something that's basically been going on in my mind and

  I've been seeing a lot of it.

  I agree with most of it. I don't agree with some of it.

  But let me just first off tell you and explain to you that my opinions are just
• 0:51
  that. They are opinions.
• 0:52
  And this is not to force anything Thing on you or tell you how to think I just
• 0:58
  want to give you a different way Of seeing things And,
• 1:02
  Artificial intelligence. Now, I'm not going to make this an episode about artificial intelligence.

  But what I have been noticing, a lot of people have been so against it,
• 1:15
  mostly because of these data senses that are opening up the amounts of water
• 1:20
  that they're using or the amount of land that's being taken up.

  I just want everybody to see things a little bit more clearer Because so many
• 1:30
  people are so, so raging against it But I want to look at a much bigger picture,
• 1:37
  Let's forget a second about AI And let's forget about the data centers, right?
• 1:45
  Every day when I go around, especially where I am There's land that is going
• 1:50
  up for sale Old farms that have been around in families for decades,
• 1:56
  ages And it's all being sold off And it's going to all of these ridiculous apartment
• 2:02
  complexes These cookie cutter homes that are built so cheaply,
• 2:07
  And it's just taken up all of that beautiful precious land,
• 2:14
  Nobody really seems to go against that. And although I can be wrong because
• 2:18
  there was a complex that was going to, or at least some land that was going
• 2:22
  to be sold right down the road from me for just such a thing.
• 2:27
  And there was such a pushback against it and never happened.
• 2:30
  And that's good. That's the power of the people. And that's amazing.
• 2:37
  But we need to start understanding that these data centers.
• 2:44
  Are being built and we're so against them
• 2:47
  and i get it everybody's heart's in the right place and i could agree
• 2:49
  with things to a point but it seems like
• 2:52
  every so often technology shifts into something new
• 2:55
  that we are so against and then we start using
• 2:58
  now let's just think about the personal computer

  back when that came out sometime in the
• 3:04
  90s when it started getting really popular um everybody
• 3:08
  had to have a computer and everybody was against them because everybody was
• 3:11
  saying it's going to take my job it's going to do this and computers are going
• 3:15
  to take over that and then computers are basically they went to the wayside
• 3:20
  because now we got the new thing cell phones and cell phones too you know let's
• 3:28
  just go back to the personal computer,
• 3:31
  People are buying these things up And it takes a lot to make these things Plastics,
• 3:35
  electronics Precious metals,
• 3:38
  And then when they're all said and done with And we're done And we're in this
• 3:42
  disposable society We just throw them away And most of these things wind up
• 3:46
  in landfills Where they shouldn't be And all that electronic stuff And plastics
• 3:52
  and all Goes back into the earth,
• 3:54
  So now comes cell phones, right?
• 3:57
  Smaller Probably got less of a
• 3:59
  footprint But no more than when it comes to building these things, right?

  Where they're being built How they're being built The lithium ion and the batteries and all.
• 4:10
  There's risks and all with that, but yet everybody has one.
• 4:13
  And we all talk about how bad they are for the environment too,
• 4:18
  or just, you know, how we have in a palm of our hands, a whole, you know, thing.
• 4:22
  Hey, that's okay. We're human beings.
• 4:25
  Progress moving forward. I get it. Needs to happen.
• 4:30
  But we can't do it without certain things in place.
• 4:35
  Let me specify a little bit more now.
• 4:39
  Everybody's talking about the internal combustion engine in cars how this is
• 4:43
  going to go away and we got the next best thing which is electric and that's
• 4:46
  great i'm going to save you know the planet by buying an electric car well you
• 4:51
  can't be further from the truth with that the lithium ion,
• 4:57
  cells for those cars i'd much rather pump gas and fossil fuels way less of an
• 5:05
  impact on earth with that because we've been using that for the longest time now.
• 5:09
  We refined it. We gotten better with it.
• 5:12
  These lithium ions were mining these things.
• 5:15
  We're taking huge chunks out of the earth.
• 5:18
  And don't let me start telling you how much water it takes also for that as well.
• 5:24
  It's not better for the environment. It's just another form of energy that needs to be created.
• 5:31
  And again, we're digging out of the earth.
• 5:37
  Plastic. Everybody wants to talk about plastic and plastics in the oceans and
• 5:42
  how are we going to help the planet and all. But look around your own home.
• 5:47
  How much do you have that's been made out of plastic?
• 5:52
  That you must question. Because if you're going to be against it,
• 5:56
  you're going to have to take a stand and get rid of all of plastic and never
• 6:00
  buy any more plastic, and I don't
• 6:01
  know how you do that because pretty much everything's made of plastic.
• 6:06
  We could blame capitalism, and I think that's a partial, a good 50% of it,
• 6:12
  because the problem with capitalism, one, there's really not a major problem with it.
• 6:17
  We're in a free society. We can sell our goods, and everybody could be in competition.
• 6:21
  The problem becomes greed.
• 6:25
  When these corporations want to just take all of their money and buy everything
• 6:29
  out and squash the little people and all, because let's take plastics.
• 6:34
  We have hemp. Which is so sustainable.
• 6:39
  And we could use it. You know for pretty much. A lot of stuff.
• 6:45
  But we don't. And the reason is because plastics. The plastic industry don't want that.
• 6:51
  Because it will cut into their profits. They don't want that.
• 6:55
  It's just like natural. Remedies and herbal remedies.
• 6:59
  They don't want that to go out there. Because that would just kill the pharmaceutical industry.

  That's greed. That's corruption. That has nothing to do with capitalism.

  That's individual human beings.
• 7:15
  Eye-opener society always said humans are the biggest mistake.
• 7:20
  We're always wrong on things.
• 7:22
  We might have great ideas, but we never apply them correctly.
• 7:28
  It takes a long time to start leveling things out and maybe make it more productive or better.
• 7:36
  And let me go back to the internal combustion engine. Because we're screaming
• 7:40
  about how it's running on fossil fuels and how it's ruining the planet.
• 7:43
  But yet internal combustion engines have come so far from even the 80s.
• 7:50
  I'm not even going to say the 70s.
• 7:51
  They've become so much more efficient.
• 7:55
  And we now have partial zero emission engines and their internal combustion,
• 8:01
  there's no hybrids or anything.
• 8:03
  We started to perfect it. It was getting better.
• 8:07
  And now we're going to something all new. And what does that do?
• 8:10
  Then what are we doing with the old technology? Where is that going to go?
• 8:13
  How many landfills does that end up in?
• 8:15
  And then again, the electric vehicles. Sure, the electric motor is probably
• 8:19
  the most efficient, but it runs on these lithium-ion batteries.
• 8:24
  So I don't want to repeat myself, the digging and chiseling of the earth and
• 8:28
  leaving these holes in the massive amounts of water and construction.
• 8:33
  So when we got this newer technology known as artificial intelligence,
• 8:38
  and let me tell you something, It's not very intelligent.
• 8:42
  It's stupid. We're all fear it. We're fearing it just like we feared computers way back when.
• 8:47
  Going to take our jobs. You had to create more jobs and it created a huge IT field.
• 8:52
  AI is pretty much doing the same thing. Right now, it requires huge data centers.

  And we're so worried about...

  The amount of water that they use, but not a single person is complaining about
• 9:07
  all these brand new housing developments that go up every single day.
• 9:12
  How much water is that taking? How much water, how much waste do we produce
• 9:18
  as human beings, whether it's our own waste or actual consumer waste?
• 9:25
  We don't think about that. We have to apply this into the factor too.
• 9:30
  Every time we build more housing complexes or these new urban developments,
• 9:39
  how many trees are wiped away?
• 9:43
  And all those trees, and what happens after that, we realize after the complexes
• 9:48
  go up, all the flooding that takes place, it's because of the trees were gone.

  We keep destroying our resources every day And we seem to be picking and choosing
• 10:01
  or cherry picking What it is we want to stand up against But we're not taking
• 10:06
  care of the bigger problem.

  I don't have the statistics right in front of me Maybe I should have had it
• 10:14
  But there's this debris field, right?
• 10:16
  I believe out in the ocean And if I'm not mistaken, the Pacific Ocean Please
• 10:20
  correct me if I'm wrong But there's this thing The size of, what, a country?
• 10:24
  Floating out in the ocean We have yet to clean that up And we're worried about data centers,
• 10:32
  Right here where I live in Pennsylvania I don't live too far from nuclear power
• 10:37
  plant There is another one, Three Mile Island That actually had a meltdown And
• 10:44
  it's been offline for a long time,
• 10:48
  Well, Microsoft dumped a whole bunch of money in it And fired it back up again,
• 10:53
  I don't hear much noise about that,
• 10:56
  They just signed The agreements to use I think like 23 million gallons Of water
• 11:02
  a day from the Susquehanna River,
• 11:05
  Nobody's yelling and screaming there. Some people maybe, but not as much as we are with AI.
• 11:14
  We want always better for the planet. And believe me, as a pagan, that's all I want.
• 11:20
  But again, we have to pick and choose. We are human beings.
• 11:24
  We're the ones that are creating all of this.
• 11:28
  A laptop computer or a desktop computer didn't just walk up to somebody and
• 11:32
  say, hey, you know what's going to be great?
• 11:34
  Artificial intelligence. I'm going to build it and I'm going to create it.
• 11:37
  No, that was an idea or thought from a human being that's putting it all into place.
• 11:44
  And we've been using artificial intelligence forever. Let's not ignore that fact either.

  Every time we went on a search engine, Google, Yahoo, Bing, whatever the case
• 11:56
  may be, it's a search engine and it requires data centers for that.

  Maybe not to the same scale, Well, but eventually maybe AI is going to be able
• 12:06
  to scale back as technology improves. We don't know yet.
• 12:12
  We have to sometimes take the good and the bad. It's an unfortunate thing.
• 12:18
  I don't believe that we should stop progress, but at the same time,
• 12:23
  we should be better planners.
• 12:25
  But again, we're human beings.
• 12:29
  We could claim we're going to stop using AI.
• 12:32
  But are we really? Like I said, every time you hit a search engine, it's now AI.

  All of them, Google, Bing, Yahoo, they're all now AI enhanced.

  We could go off of computers, but yet most of the people that are yelling and
• 12:47
  screaming about AI are doing it on computers.
• 12:51
  We'd have to get rid of our cell phones because that's the biggest piece of
• 12:54
  artificial intelligence right there.
• 12:58
  If we're worried about the data centers storing our information and using it
• 13:01
  for, you know, the evil empire.
• 13:05
  Well, yeah, it is. But how long has that been going on anyway?
• 13:08
  What more are they going to get from us, really?
• 13:12
  They've already searched all of our search bar entries already.
• 13:16
  They know what we're searching.
• 13:19
  There's been huge data centers all over. But it's just the new bandwagon to
• 13:24
  jump on. So rather than jumping on just AI, why don't we start planning a little bit better?
• 13:31
  And if we're going to protest anything, if we're going to stop,
• 13:34
  what we need to do is start to simplify our lives.
• 13:37
  We could go back to the 1800s prior to electric. We lived quite well without it.
• 13:42
  But then modern technology came and the electricity started to make things better
• 13:47
  and medicine became better and all.
• 13:49
  People started living longer because of it. People don't have to suffer as much
• 13:53
  because of it. And AI can help with that too.
• 13:56
  AI in the medical field right now is huge. And it's going to be a lifesaver.

  And again, I'm not here to support AI. Nor am I here to bastardize it.

  What I am here for is to let you know.

  We must look at the big picture. Just jumping down the throat of AI is not going to stop everything.

  The world's been slowly falling apart for a long time.

  God forbid any one of us mentions chemtrails We're shut up, shut down Kicked
• 14:28
  out of the room, laughed at And yet it goes on every single day And it's polluting
• 14:33
  every single bit of the air The soil, the water,
• 14:38
  But if I try to mention it People don't want to hear it But if I was to say,
• 14:41
  hey, let's ban the data center Trying to, you know, get opened up.
• 14:46
  Everybody's behind me, supporting me Because, oh, that's great You're going
• 14:49
  to save the planet We're going to get rid of all this evil but yet they're spraying
• 14:53
  the skies every single day.
• 14:58
  And we're still using AI, even though we're against it. We just don't know it half the time.

  I want to support everybody that's doing something to make the planet better,
• 15:09
  but using these here things less.
• 15:13
  Learning to bike instead of taking car rides when we're short,
• 15:16
  or just taking walks for short distances.
• 15:20
  Or if we stop using AI so much, and we just get off of our phones every now
• 15:24
  and then, and stop hitting the search engines for everything,
• 15:30
  plugging in a website directly.
• 15:32
  I applaud you. And I applaud you for standing up against the data centers too
• 15:37
  because my only problem is I live on a major interstate or at least not too
• 15:44
  far, like 10 minutes away from one.
• 15:47
  And they're building more warehouses than data centers.
• 15:53
  We may get one data center per county Or at least a request for one Whether
• 15:59
  it actually materializes or not Well, it's hit or miss,
• 16:06
  But what's guaranteed Of warehouses that are going up And along with the warehouses
• 16:13
  More exits are being built onto the highways The roadways are becoming much more.
• 16:19
  Populated, more lanes, more traffic more truck traffic, more diesel fumes, more and more.
• 16:27
  And it's a guaranteed data centers are not.
• 16:31
  Let's learn to pick our battles. If we are truly concerned with the planet,
• 16:37
  if we're truly concerned with data storage, we would all go off the grid completely.
• 16:43
  Every single one of us.
• 16:46
  Nobody is doing that.
• 16:49
  All we're doing is using the same things That we say we are against.
• 16:56
  And again, sometimes we don't even know we're using it. My name is Gary Dean.
