- 0:58Speaker 2: So we was going down the line. So we did
- 1:00Speaker 2: Fab and Philly, we did Ross and Philly, we did
- 1:03Speaker 2: Fab and Kiss and Boston and after that we was
- 1:06Speaker 2: like man, heat checked, we on fire. Let's go out Baltimore.
- 1:09Speaker 2: So we booked g z Ybs scholar who's from Baltimore
- 1:12Speaker 2: and we booked p and b Rock. The day we
- 1:15Speaker 2: had that show was to rental downpour, so it was
- 1:17Speaker 2: raining crazy. So we did terrible. We lost a ton
- 1:21Speaker 2: of money. I remember being in the lobby at a
- 1:24Speaker 2: hotel we were staying at. We were talking to each other.
- 1:25Speaker 2: We're like, man, like you got enough to get back
- 1:28Speaker 2: to Philly.
- 1:29Speaker 3: Like we was in there literally trying to streak together
- 1:31Speaker 3: eighty dollars. We just had to show the night.
- 1:33Speaker 4: Before how much you lost.
- 1:35Speaker 5: Yeah, one hundred thousand.
- 1:36Speaker 6: Night my graduates from my school being force back drop drop, Mike,
- 1:45Speaker 6: drop back drop drop.
- 1:57Speaker 4: All right, guys, welcome back e y l is be
- 2:00Speaker 4: a dope episode. Yeah, all pun intent.
- 2:03Speaker 7: This is going to be the dopest.
- 2:05Speaker 4: So dope shows my man Jamy and Steph. So I'll
- 2:09Speaker 4: give you the background story on this. The first show
- 2:11Speaker 4: that we actually was commissioned to do as talent because
- 2:15Speaker 4: we've been doing shows for a long time, but usually
- 2:17Speaker 4: the show is our shows and we put it together,
- 2:20Speaker 4: we market it, we get you know, talent, you know
- 2:23Speaker 4: through the whole nine. We just did it Apollo. You know,
- 2:25Speaker 4: we did invest fast, we do We're doing this for
- 2:27Speaker 4: a long time, but this is the first show, and
- 2:29Speaker 4: we was actually commissioned to come Yeah, and it was
- 2:34Speaker 4: a dope experience and it was through Dope Shows. So
- 2:38Speaker 4: we found out that dope shows is actually like the
- 2:42Speaker 4: premier I guess, I don't want to say booking agents,
- 2:46Speaker 4: but the premier promoters, yeah, promoter promoting promoter, concert promoters
- 2:53Speaker 4: in the Tri State area in Philadelphia. So once we
- 2:58Speaker 4: actually got tapped in, we realized that, well, we always knew,
- 3:01Speaker 4: but there's a whole market for this. Like you see
- 3:06Speaker 4: artists doing shows all the time, but you never really
- 3:08Speaker 4: think like who's throwing the shows. And of course we
- 3:11Speaker 4: know the big names like Live Nation things of that nature,
- 3:13Speaker 4: but there's still independent companies out here that's doing it
- 3:17Speaker 4: from the ground up, putting their own money into it,
- 3:19Speaker 4: putting their own marketing into it, and it's a it's
- 3:22Speaker 4: a viable business. And it's one of these things where
- 3:24Speaker 4: we're told about sports and entertainment, but you don't necessarily
- 3:27Speaker 4: have to be in sports and entertainment to actually make
- 3:30Speaker 4: a living and make money off of sports entertainment.
- 3:32Speaker 7: You create a business around sports and you don't have
- 3:34Speaker 7: to be you don't have.
- 3:35Speaker 4: To be entertainer. So this is this is one of
- 3:39Speaker 4: those situations. So we're going to get all the game.
- 3:42Speaker 4: I'm sure we're going to get a lot of gyms,
- 3:44Speaker 4: a lot of information. So first and foremoal, thank you guys.
- 3:47Speaker 4: I appreciate it.
- 3:49Speaker 7: Thank you for having Yeah, we appreciate having us.
- 3:51Speaker 4: All right, So yeah, let's get us a backstory of
- 3:54Speaker 4: how this actually started.
- 3:55Speaker 7: Because we got to stop because we got to get
- 3:57Speaker 7: the biggest shout out. So tranfully of we said, mister Troy,
- 4:02Speaker 7: mister Rashad, there's these people from Philly. They're trying to
- 4:04Speaker 7: get in.
- 4:04Speaker 5: Contact with you.
- 4:05Speaker 7: I said, who is They dope shows man, they dig
- 4:08Speaker 7: and Philly. They want to they want to find y'all.
- 4:10Speaker 7: They called THEE I said, all right, let's get it
- 4:13Speaker 7: all the line.
- 4:13Speaker 4: So shout out, Shout out the tray, shout out the tray,
- 4:16Speaker 4: out the Spurgo billion God, shout out to Trey. That's
- 4:20Speaker 4: for sure. So yeah, so all right, so how did
- 4:22Speaker 4: this start? Believe it started in twenty seventeen, twenty twenty seventeen,
- 4:25Speaker 4: so what's the backstories on?
- 4:26Speaker 2: So we started in twenty seventeen. Our first show was
- 4:29Speaker 2: Jadakiss and Fat Freddy versus Jason Uh at the Fieldmore
- 4:35Speaker 2: field More. This was before the album, like because we
- 4:38Speaker 2: called Fat and we were like we wanted to do him.
- 4:40Speaker 2: He was like, well, we got this idea. We want
- 4:43Speaker 2: to have Kiss on it too, because we're trying to
- 4:44Speaker 2: do an album together. So this was really just like
- 4:47Speaker 2: a concept show. It really just got started, like the
- 4:50Speaker 2: concept got grown from just this one show. And we
- 4:53Speaker 2: did it in Philly at the Field Moore. Twenty five
- 4:55Speaker 2: hundred people sold it out in six weeks. Before we
- 4:58Speaker 2: did the show, people didn't belie, like I don't know
- 5:01Speaker 2: if that could work in Philly, Like I don't know
- 5:02Speaker 2: about that, but me and Jamiya we just went head
- 5:06Speaker 2: first and feet to the pavement. We hustled, We marketed
- 5:10Speaker 2: every week, every day, and we sold it out in
- 5:13Speaker 2: six weeks. So that was the first show and then
- 5:16Speaker 2: we did after that, we did Rick Ross. We did
- 5:20Speaker 2: Rick Ross and then we took that same show like
- 5:22Speaker 2: we made some money, but the money that we made,
- 5:25Speaker 2: we didn't like going splurge and buy chains and stuff
- 5:28Speaker 2: or whatever.
- 5:29Speaker 7: Yeah that comes in I see.
- 5:34Speaker 2: We we reinvested it and we booked Rick Ross and
- 5:38Speaker 2: we also booked Jadakiss and fab in Boston, So we
- 5:41Speaker 2: had never been to Boston before. The first time we've
- 5:43Speaker 2: been to Boston was when we did that show, and
- 5:46Speaker 2: we went there and it was like it was a
- 5:47Speaker 2: little bit of a culture shock. But we did the
- 5:50Speaker 2: same scheme like we did in Philly. We got to
- 5:52Speaker 2: the ground, we started meeting people, marketing, hitting the radio stations,
- 5:56Speaker 2: hitting the ground running, and we sold out the House
- 5:58Speaker 2: of Blues in Boston with Jadakiss and Fat And one
- 6:02Speaker 2: thing we learned about Boston is they love hip hop,
- 6:05Speaker 2: like no matter what the culture is, whoever's up there,
- 6:08Speaker 2: they like, they really are passionate about hip hop. Actually,
- 6:10Speaker 2: their first week sales we went on cell did better
- 6:14Speaker 2: than we did in Philly, so that was successful. And
- 6:17Speaker 2: then we went on to do some stuff in Baltimore,
- 6:19Speaker 2: which we'll get into, and just a bunch of other shows.
- 6:22Speaker 7: And so how did y'all meet? Right, because obviously I
- 6:25Speaker 7: got to the first show, but I was hip hop
- 6:27Speaker 7: and music plays a role in your life. But how
- 6:29Speaker 7: did y'all get together to say, let's come together and
- 6:33Speaker 7: create this dope platform so that we can make some
- 6:35Speaker 7: money promote the music that we love. How did y'all meet?
- 6:38Speaker 3: It was actually a mutual. My cousin is Am is
- 6:41Speaker 3: a friend of Steph's. They was friends growing up together.
- 6:45Speaker 3: So we all it was like a playoff game. We
- 6:48Speaker 3: all went to UH the Sixers was in the playoffs.
- 6:51Speaker 3: We all went to Xfinity Live. We was kind of
- 6:53Speaker 3: kicking it that day. I was doing parties at that time,
- 6:57Speaker 3: so from near Steph then started coming to all the
- 6:59Speaker 3: parties that I was having, so we would kick it
- 7:01Speaker 3: on the party level. We started talking about doing the
- 7:04Speaker 3: business together. Initially, the business is supposed to be like
- 7:06Speaker 3: a club because that was what I had currently going
- 7:09Speaker 3: on and stuff was doing real estate.
- 7:11Speaker 5: But once we.
- 7:12Speaker 3: Started, we had seen I had seen like with the
- 7:14Speaker 3: clubs that they was kind of like coming and going.
- 7:16Speaker 3: It was more like you kind of had like a
- 7:18Speaker 3: short window opportunity to make money in Philly before the
- 7:20Speaker 3: natives would start saying like, oh that club burnt out
- 7:23Speaker 3: or won't want to go there no more. So we
- 7:25Speaker 3: knew we wanted the longevity with a business, and I
- 7:28Speaker 3: felt like the club ain't have that. So then we
- 7:30Speaker 3: just started talking about like other things we could do,
- 7:32Speaker 3: and we seen a void in Philly where it was
- 7:34Speaker 3: like the club scene was dying out but when artists
- 7:37Speaker 3: was coming to the city, the whole city was getting
- 7:39Speaker 3: behind it. The whole city wanted to come out for
- 7:41Speaker 3: that one night.
- 7:41Speaker 5: So he was like, well, let's.
- 7:42Speaker 3: Keep recreating that bring artists through Philly on a consistent basis,
- 7:46Speaker 3: And that's what we did with dope shows.
- 7:48Speaker 7: So when you'll start though, right, because a lot of
- 7:50Speaker 7: times we don't see this and we try to highlight
- 7:52Speaker 7: it that there's two black men working together. Was it
- 7:55Speaker 7: initially off the stat like Yo, I like this guy,
- 7:58Speaker 7: like what he's doing, let's work go with that ego?
- 8:00Speaker 7: Was some negotiation like yo, you gotta scurb this and
- 8:04Speaker 7: then we can get this done. Like what was that like?
- 8:06Speaker 2: No, it really was just like I think we got
- 8:08Speaker 2: a mutual admiration for each other. And I was like, man,
- 8:11Speaker 2: like he got some traits that he was a little
- 8:13Speaker 2: younger than me, but I'm like, man, I really admire
- 8:16Speaker 2: like his hustle and like his integrity and things that
- 8:19Speaker 2: he does, like that I see from the outside looking
- 8:21Speaker 2: at so and I was like, when I go to
- 8:24Speaker 2: his parties, it's always lit like I'm having a good time,
- 8:27Speaker 2: and it's like, let's bottle that up, and like that's
- 8:29Speaker 2: let's make that something bigger. So I think it was
- 8:31Speaker 2: things that I've seen in him. I think it was
- 8:33Speaker 2: things he's seen and made that made us like great
- 8:36Speaker 2: partners and it's I mean partnership. Y'all know, it was
- 8:39Speaker 2: like a marriage. It was like you really gotta love
- 8:41Speaker 2: you gotta love your partner like like a brother. Like
- 8:44Speaker 2: sometimes y'all put each other in the headlock, but you
- 8:46Speaker 2: get past it and you and you move forward, and
- 8:49Speaker 2: you know, things come out the right way.
- 8:51Speaker 4: For people that's looking to just get into this game.
- 8:53Speaker 4: Like your first show, what was the steps? Obviously, I'm
- 8:57Speaker 4: assuming you contacted the venue said okay, how much is
- 9:00Speaker 4: it paid the venue? Then you gotta have production team,
- 9:02Speaker 4: then you got to book the artists. So can you
- 9:04Speaker 4: like walk us through the steps of up that you took.
- 9:06Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean when we first started, we kind of
- 9:11Speaker 3: started directly with the We knew the venue that we want,
- 9:13Speaker 3: We knew the size venue because I was already doing parties.
- 9:16Speaker 3: And with the parties, I was already doing like maybe
- 9:18Speaker 3: one thousand people fifteen hundred with no artists, so we
- 9:22Speaker 3: knew we wanted to start above that. So the venue
- 9:24Speaker 3: in our city that was twenty five hundred and twenty
- 9:27Speaker 3: six hundred people is the Field More of Philadelphia, So
- 9:30Speaker 3: we knew that that was the venue we wanted to do.
- 9:32Speaker 3: So we had the venue in mind, but then we
- 9:34Speaker 3: was just looking at different artists. So, like Steph said,
- 9:36Speaker 3: we contacted Fab. Once we decided on like, all right,
- 9:39Speaker 3: we're gonna do Fab and Kiss. We had the venue,
- 9:42Speaker 3: we then started to roll out all of the marketing
- 9:45Speaker 3: to the city. We got, got the radio station behind us.
- 9:48Speaker 3: We just started taking meetings and making sure that we
- 9:50Speaker 3: was getting in the marketing everywhere us as a brand,
- 9:53Speaker 3: our marketing has always been like a gorilla style marketing
- 9:56Speaker 3: approach where it's like we want everybody to see it
- 9:58Speaker 3: from eight to eighty. So if you live in Field, Adelphia,
- 10:00Speaker 3: if we got a show going on, you're gonna hear
- 10:02Speaker 3: about it some way, whether it's through the streets, whether
- 10:05Speaker 3: it's through the radio, whether it's through social media. So
- 10:08Speaker 3: that was the same approach we took from day one
- 10:10Speaker 3: and then six weeks into the promo we was able
- 10:13Speaker 3: to get the show sold up, but that was kind
- 10:15Speaker 3: of just like the steps of like getting the venue.
- 10:17Speaker 3: Then we got the artists, and then we put all the.
- 10:19Speaker 5: Marketing around it.
- 10:20Speaker 4: How did you get the artists?
- 10:22Speaker 3: We ended up just reaching out Fab at the time.
- 10:24Speaker 3: We tried to take a couple of different channels, but
- 10:26Speaker 3: we ended up emailing Yeah, he had an email on his.
- 10:31Speaker 4: Bio contact this person. Yeah, most artists though, Yeah, it
- 10:35Speaker 4: was yeah yeah.
- 10:42Speaker 3: All the time we were trying to figure out what
- 10:44Speaker 3: was the best way. We ended up was talking to
- 10:45Speaker 3: some other people that like, some folks that knew him,
- 10:47Speaker 3: but the email is ended up getting us the actual.
- 10:49Speaker 4: And said I want to book Fab for this show
- 10:52Speaker 4: and this is his price. Yea, yeah, hasn't change as much.
- 11:01Speaker 4: And like the artists people don't know most artists, they
- 11:04Speaker 4: want to get paid in cash. That's why he was
- 11:06Speaker 4: about back in all this back in on these rap songs.
- 11:10Speaker 4: Explain to them when they when they mean when they
- 11:12Speaker 4: talk about back in.
- 11:13Speaker 2: So you got to have their money. They're there, back
- 11:16Speaker 2: in money in cash. Usually some artists it depends, like Fab,
- 11:21Speaker 2: you could give him cash, like that's how he works.
- 11:23Speaker 2: He trusts our relationship. But some artists want day money
- 11:26Speaker 2: a week before they even get to the market, the whole,
- 11:28Speaker 2: the whole whole thing. So you got to wire it
- 11:30Speaker 2: to him.
- 11:30Speaker 7: Or whatever.
- 11:31Speaker 2: So it just depends on the artist. But that's that's
- 11:33Speaker 2: pretty much the back end. Like as far as like
- 11:36Speaker 2: whatever they do on the back end, you got to
- 11:38Speaker 2: have it. So whether the tickets sell and you hustled
- 11:40Speaker 2: and you sold it out or not, they still want.
- 11:42Speaker 4: So it's like if it's forty fifteen let's say up
- 11:45Speaker 4: front fifteen couple weeks, well twenty, Yeah, it's usually it
- 11:49Speaker 4: is ususually fifty percent upfront and then the other fifty
- 11:53Speaker 4: get when they get to the spot before they before
- 11:55Speaker 4: they start performing, like five minutes before you got to
- 11:57Speaker 4: count out and cash.
- 11:58Speaker 7: Yeah, work worth words. Otherwise, BEFA, it's a show on Sunday,
- 12:02Speaker 7: make sure you get to that bank. Bank ain't open
- 12:05Speaker 7: on something for sure.
- 12:07Speaker 4: No performance if they don't get if they don't get paid,
- 12:09Speaker 4: no performance.
- 12:11Speaker 7: To talk about riders, I.
- 12:15Speaker 3: Mean riders being one hundred percent honest. When we first
- 12:18Speaker 3: was in it, when we first got in the business business,
- 12:20Speaker 3: we was more like everything they put on the rider,
- 12:22Speaker 3: we gotta do, like we don't want the artists to
- 12:24Speaker 3: feel like they get here and we don't got something
- 12:27Speaker 3: that they want. But to date, now we got around
- 12:30Speaker 3: twenty five shows, we've done, so I can tell you now.
- 12:33Speaker 3: And at this point, we don't do everything that's on
- 12:36Speaker 3: the rider because a lot of times you'll see that
- 12:38Speaker 3: the artists don't use everything that they ask for. It's
- 12:41Speaker 3: kind of just like a list of things that they say,
- 12:44Speaker 3: like right now, if I was an artist and I
- 12:46Speaker 3: told people on this day, like I like these twenty
- 12:48Speaker 3: five things. As I'm traveling around the world and going
- 12:51Speaker 3: to these places, I may not want pink star birst
- 12:54Speaker 3: today like I might that might be on my rider,
- 12:56Speaker 3: but I may not care about it in the moment.
- 12:59Speaker 3: So we started just we kind of got we created
- 13:02Speaker 3: like a dope shows rider of like things that we
- 13:05Speaker 3: know we're gonna have there, like liquor.
- 13:06Speaker 5: We're gonna have liquor backstage at every show.
- 13:09Speaker 3: But some of the nuanced things, they're like things that
- 13:12Speaker 3: we like don't matter that much. Will cut it off
- 13:14Speaker 3: the roder just because it don't matter as much.
- 13:17Speaker 7: Y'all have a rider, and it's almost like a checklist
- 13:19Speaker 7: for the artists like or we'll have that will take that.
- 13:21Speaker 5: Yeah, that's smart, that's pretty.
- 13:23Speaker 3: So when they send it right like because sometimes they'll
- 13:26Speaker 3: send like they may send and may say like they
- 13:28Speaker 3: want five bottles of they might see they want five
- 13:31Speaker 3: bottles of East of Speed.
- 13:32Speaker 5: It's like we're not doing five balls speed.
- 13:35Speaker 3: You might get one, might get two, might might get
- 13:37Speaker 3: five bills, it might not be that. Just just depend
- 13:41Speaker 3: on what it is actually on the rider and what
- 13:42Speaker 3: we feel like, also depends on like how well the.
- 13:45Speaker 5: Show's doing too, like just everything.
- 13:48Speaker 4: Booking booking artists is not as easy as people. Like
- 13:51Speaker 4: I said, we've had some experiences with booking some artists,
- 13:53Speaker 4: and I mean booking it is just one part of it.
- 13:57Speaker 4: But last minute travel and things change, and this person's
- 14:02Speaker 4: riding needs to be updated, and it's like it could
- 14:05Speaker 4: be a lot, it could be a lot, and at
- 14:07Speaker 4: some point in time you just got to say enough
- 14:09Speaker 4: is enough. Like we had one artist that was asking
- 14:10Speaker 4: for way too much in the rider and we just
- 14:13Speaker 4: we're not doing it. Yeah, it turned out it wasn't
- 14:15Speaker 4: really him. He was cool, he really wanted but you know,
- 14:17Speaker 4: his team, his team.
- 14:20Speaker 2: We created like a dope thing with the riders though
- 14:23Speaker 2: to whereas though we get local businesses opportunity to like
- 14:28Speaker 2: help us build the riders. So it's like, for instance,
- 14:30Speaker 2: we got a restaurant in Philly, called kings and queens,
- 14:33Speaker 2: and they do all our food like they do all
- 14:35Speaker 2: our food, but they got amazing fish. They got this
- 14:38Speaker 2: fruit set up, actually.
- 14:41Speaker 5: Got it.
- 14:44Speaker 2: So like that's like that's how we tie in local
- 14:47Speaker 2: places and local brands to like put them in position
- 14:50Speaker 2: and like, you know, get in front of the artists,
- 14:52Speaker 2: because a lot of times that's not easy.
- 14:54Speaker 4: The riders dope even on the other side too. For
- 14:56Speaker 4: because the first time I heard about a rider, my
- 14:58Speaker 4: friend Valencia shot about she was this is like early
- 15:02Speaker 4: before your legion, when I was just I was doing
- 15:04Speaker 4: my financial planning thing, but I was doing it online
- 15:07Speaker 4: and people it was some interest to like book me
- 15:09Speaker 4: for certain things. So I would ask her, like how
- 15:12Speaker 4: much you charge and she was like, well, you have
- 15:14Speaker 4: a rider. I'm like, what's a rider? And then she
- 15:16Speaker 4: was telling me like a rider is everything that you request.
- 15:18Speaker 4: So it's like I request a first class plane ticket,
- 15:21Speaker 4: four star hotel I want, you know, like you said,
- 15:24Speaker 4: a fish dinner. Whatever you want, you could put it
- 15:26Speaker 4: in a rider. And then it's like this is this
- 15:28Speaker 4: is what I need to come. It makes it a
- 15:30Speaker 4: lot easy as opposed to saying like I want this.
- 15:33Speaker 4: And then every week you gotta like change it. This
- 15:35Speaker 4: is the set template of what I want. Like I said,
- 15:38Speaker 4: sometimes people just go overboard and like inntal floors and.
- 15:42Speaker 7: I want their clippers. I want a pink towel like.
- 15:47Speaker 5: This.
- 15:48Speaker 4: But it is good to know for artists, even entrepreneurs
- 15:53Speaker 4: entertainers to have a rider in place. It's important also,
- 15:57Speaker 4: I like, I like your idea from the other side
- 15:59Speaker 4: of it. Have a set rider like this is what
- 16:01Speaker 4: we provide, right, and then if they want something over
- 16:04Speaker 4: and above that, then you know you can accomminate it
- 16:06Speaker 4: if you want. But as opposed to just leaving up
- 16:08Speaker 4: to their wildest dreams just running up.
- 16:10Speaker 2: Them up, yeah, we never had an issue. They always
- 16:13Speaker 2: be happy with what they get because.
- 16:15Speaker 3: The spread that the spread that kings and queens and
- 16:17Speaker 3: the local businesses that come on a lot of times
- 16:20Speaker 3: it usually be more than what they was on their
- 16:23Speaker 3: rider when it's all said and done, because the companies
- 16:25Speaker 3: are trying to get their brains out there a lot
- 16:27Speaker 3: of times. So it's kind of kind of like one
- 16:29Speaker 3: hand and watched the other in that sense with the riders.
- 16:31Speaker 7: So this is important too because it's somebody listening right now,
- 16:34Speaker 7: who's and the maybe the party from phase when you
- 16:37Speaker 7: said you started funding, right, so you said you had
- 16:40Speaker 7: to pay that forty thousand. Are we at the time
- 16:43Speaker 7: working in real estate? Are we doing still doing the
- 16:45Speaker 7: clubs to allocate enough funds to pay for these things?
- 16:48Speaker 7: Like where are we getting the funded from.
- 16:49Speaker 5: To do it? Yeah?
- 16:50Speaker 2: So we I was in real estate, Mirror was working
- 16:54Speaker 2: and he also had a business as well, So we
- 16:57Speaker 2: just put our funds together. FAB was forty thousand, twenty thousand,
- 17:02Speaker 2: ten and ten. You know the venue was at that time.
- 17:05Speaker 2: I think it was like twenty thousand.
- 17:06Speaker 4: Chiss was twenty the venue to get so we ended
- 17:10Speaker 4: up getting faed and kissed together.
- 17:11Speaker 5: It was fifty all right, so fifty so ten kiss Yeah.
- 17:15Speaker 5: I don't know how they worked out.
- 17:17Speaker 3: It was like it was forty fab, but then once
- 17:19Speaker 3: we did it together, it was like fifty together.
- 17:22Speaker 4: Yeah, after versus that's changed.
- 17:26Speaker 7: This price is not today?
- 17:29Speaker 2: What were you saying? Oh you said yes, So we
- 17:31Speaker 2: broke it down. So whatever the price was, it was
- 17:33Speaker 2: twenty five. We both broke it down, took it. I
- 17:36Speaker 2: remember being at the TV bank on South Street putting
- 17:39Speaker 2: a deposit and I'm like I did a lot of
- 17:41Speaker 2: businesses before. But I don't know if this is really
- 17:43Speaker 2: gonna come back. I never did this before, and we
- 17:47Speaker 2: just we just put it all on faith and put
- 17:49Speaker 2: it all on hustle, and we put it out there
- 17:51Speaker 2: and we booked them.
- 17:52Speaker 4: So, like, you remember how much it costs the first
- 17:54Speaker 4: show to produce it. Yeah, it was seventy seventy thousand,
- 17:57Speaker 4: so fifty thousand for the artists, yeah, and then twenty
- 18:00Speaker 4: thousand for the venue.
- 18:01Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 18:02Speaker 4: So yeah, it was probably probably like eighty Yeah, like
- 18:06Speaker 4: at the market eighty bands in the venue that included
- 18:09Speaker 4: the audio person, security, they handled all the venue handled, yeah,
- 18:13Speaker 4: venue all you like it was like one house, yeah, yeah,
- 18:16Speaker 4: and then it was like marketing. You remember how much
- 18:19Speaker 4: you made off that, Yeah, so.
- 18:20Speaker 3: We made we we spent probably like eighty when they're making.
- 18:23Speaker 4: One forty and then sixty thousand dollar sixty profit.
- 18:28Speaker 3: Then we ended up we put the whole one forty
- 18:30Speaker 3: back into the business. So we booked Cross, So we
- 18:33Speaker 3: took that eighty we spent on the first show, and
- 18:35Speaker 3: then we spent that eighty on the Rick Ross Show,
- 18:38Speaker 3: and then the seventy we ended up doing or seventy
- 18:41Speaker 3: eighty we end up doing Fad and Kissing Boston. So
- 18:44Speaker 3: all money in all money in our first show we
- 18:47Speaker 3: sold it out mayde one forty. We took all the
- 18:49Speaker 3: money and put it right back into the business and
- 18:52Speaker 3: was like all we had celebrate after we come off
- 18:54Speaker 3: these two chows. So we still ain't celebrating after that.
- 18:58Speaker 7: The sixty thousand dollars profit is impressed, right, So how
- 19:00Speaker 7: did you get into the pricing of it because that's
- 19:02Speaker 7: an issue too, right, we don't know what to price
- 19:05Speaker 7: a ticket for so that we can make profit. Some
- 19:07Speaker 7: people will price it too low and that there's no
- 19:09Speaker 7: profit at the end. So what was that process like
- 19:11Speaker 7: of saying, all right, this is how much we have
- 19:13Speaker 7: to charge each person. Maybe there's a VIP, maybe there's
- 19:15Speaker 7: some type of incentive so that we can actually make
- 19:17Speaker 7: a profit once it's all sett up.
- 19:19Speaker 2: It's like comps off of other shows that were pulling
- 19:22Speaker 2: up that we would get some research for. And then
- 19:25Speaker 2: it is about like how you feel in the market.
- 19:26Speaker 2: It's like we we outside, we don't people like people
- 19:31Speaker 2: love Fat and kiss It's like, all right, this is
- 19:34Speaker 2: the price. So we came up with the prices internally,
- 19:37Speaker 2: and then when we put it on sale, We're seeing
- 19:39Speaker 2: how hot it was and how it's moving. We ticked
- 19:41Speaker 2: it up a little bit, you know, here and there.
- 19:44Speaker 2: So that's how we kind of gauged it.
- 19:45Speaker 7: Yeah, so the first price is the initial sale, but
- 19:49Speaker 7: then as you see people of person now becomes more
- 19:51Speaker 7: of a premium, right.
- 19:52Speaker 2: And then bit the less opens you got, the more
- 19:55Speaker 2: so you don't have that many opens left, meaning you
- 19:57Speaker 2: don't have that many tickets left.
- 19:58Speaker 8: It it's like the price even over premium, right, right,
- 20:02Speaker 8: So did we even start learning that where it was
- 20:04Speaker 8: like studying I remember during that time, this the first
- 20:07Speaker 8: show stuff was like studying stub hub.
- 20:09Speaker 3: So where like every day he'd be saying, like, yo,
- 20:11Speaker 3: yesterday we had one hundred tickets on stub Hub. Today
- 20:14Speaker 3: is only ten. So it's like all right, like now
- 20:17Speaker 3: we could like stub Hub was charging this amount for
- 20:20Speaker 3: it because we were so limited. So it's like all right,
- 20:23Speaker 3: now we know we could increase because ninety people just
- 20:25Speaker 3: bought tickets off stub hub for this price. So we
- 20:28Speaker 3: was like comparing, We was really comparing it to ourselves,
- 20:31Speaker 3: like people was buying it from us and then selling
- 20:33Speaker 3: it on after market sites. We was paying attention to
- 20:35Speaker 3: what where they were selling.
- 20:37Speaker 7: That's important because but you're not making the money no, right,
- 20:40Speaker 7: and so it's like, all right, if they're paying had
- 20:42Speaker 7: I got to engage my perfect.
- 20:45Speaker 4: When you first started, you just had one ticket price
- 20:47Speaker 4: or it was like a different packs like vps we.
- 20:50Speaker 3: Had, we kind of most of them always had like
- 20:53Speaker 3: a scale. So where we start out, we'll say, like
- 20:55Speaker 3: we look at the show, we say, like, all right,
- 20:57Speaker 3: we investing eighty thousand on this show. We know, like,
- 20:59Speaker 3: all right, we trying to make a certain amount of money.
- 21:01Speaker 3: In the beginning, we were thinking like more of a
- 21:03Speaker 3: double up, like all right, if you spending eighty, we're
- 21:05Speaker 3: trying to make one sixty. But as you gauge in
- 21:09Speaker 3: the show, it's like, all right, that might be too
- 21:11Speaker 3: much to put the tickets on sale for that going out.
- 21:13Speaker 3: So we know, like, all right, let's put it out
- 21:15Speaker 3: into the streets at a cheaper number. And then like
- 21:17Speaker 3: once we get a thousand tickets out on the street,
- 21:19Speaker 3: now you got those thousand people talking about it. Now
- 21:22Speaker 3: let's increase. So a lot of times that's how the plan,
- 21:24Speaker 3: and honestly we're still playing like that now for even
- 21:27Speaker 3: our up and coming shows.
- 21:28Speaker 7: One of the things that I remember saying was like,
- 21:31Speaker 7: you got a sixty day strategy, Like you've studied it
- 21:34Speaker 7: so much that you know sixty days out how the
- 21:36Speaker 7: show's going to perform, Right, How did.
- 21:38Speaker 5: You get that?
- 21:40Speaker 7: Just?
- 21:41Speaker 2: I mean back then it was just it was just
- 21:43Speaker 2: trial and error. But now it's like we got so
- 21:46Speaker 2: much experience, so many shows, so many ups, so many downs.
- 21:50Speaker 2: It's just a feel. It's just really a feel from
- 21:53Speaker 2: show to show and just knowing the cycle, knowing the artists,
- 21:57Speaker 2: knowing the heat of the artists, Like really what's going
- 21:59Speaker 2: on in the culture. It's not like we like from
- 22:02Speaker 2: Beverly Hills and we don't know what's going on, like
- 22:05Speaker 2: we in it every day. So just really knowing that
- 22:08Speaker 2: and where we are and taking them losses, taking the
- 22:11Speaker 2: ups and downs. We took some loss and losses for sure.
- 22:14Speaker 3: So learning like seeing like dang, Like when the tickets
- 22:17Speaker 3: start trending this way, it's like, lad, we had a
- 22:20Speaker 3: show once that was trending like this and it resulted
- 22:23Speaker 3: in the loss. So like, let's pivot. So we when
- 22:25Speaker 3: we go into a show, like even our current Wells
- 22:27Speaker 3: Fargo show, we knew like we got to have by
- 22:30Speaker 3: this date, we need to have this amount of ticket sold.
- 22:33Speaker 3: And if we don't got this amount of tickets sold,
- 22:35Speaker 3: were in trouble. And it's like or like by this date,
- 22:37Speaker 3: we gotta have this amount of ticket sold. It's like
- 22:40Speaker 3: we're trying to We go into a show with goals,
- 22:42Speaker 3: and a lot of times we exceed the expectations, but
- 22:44Speaker 3: it's sometimes where we got to pivot.
- 22:46Speaker 7: So sixty days out, you know, like I need to
- 22:48Speaker 7: have a thousand so or something something. Thirty days out
- 22:51Speaker 7: we need to have like four thousand, right, and then
- 22:54Speaker 7: we're gonna ramp it up. So what are the things
- 22:56Speaker 7: that if we missed the target right as far as
- 22:58Speaker 7: marketing and it's like all right, Panton, that anxiety levels
- 23:01Speaker 7: going off. What is some of the strategy that we
- 23:03Speaker 7: put in place if we know, like we didn't hit
- 23:05Speaker 7: our goal. What do we need to do now?
- 23:08Speaker 2: Price reductions we have we do sometimes we do ticket
- 23:12Speaker 2: deals with different people, like brokers in the market, Like
- 23:16Speaker 2: we'll find people that's buying wholesale tickets and we'll sell
- 23:19Speaker 2: them that way. So we just got a different a
- 23:21Speaker 2: whole lot of different ways to give rid of the tickets.
- 23:23Speaker 2: And sometimes we had shows we was selling tickets on
- 23:26Speaker 2: the streets, like we had to figure it out, like
- 23:29Speaker 2: get people hand in hand. So it was it's always different,
- 23:33Speaker 2: but we always got a strategy for it for sure.
- 23:37Speaker 2: And even going back to the Ross show, just like
- 23:39Speaker 2: ups and down to the business, we didn't really talk
- 23:42Speaker 2: about it when we was booking Ross. We almost sent
- 23:45Speaker 2: money to the wrong person with Ross because Ross had
- 23:48Speaker 2: like an email in his bio kind of like igh
- 23:50Speaker 2: fab did. But the email the email that our email
- 23:54Speaker 2: was like one letter off or something like that, and
- 23:57Speaker 2: this person was like minutes away from getting a big deposit.
- 24:02Speaker 2: So you got to really watch out for scams, like
- 24:04Speaker 2: with the artist stuff. So we've been lucky to not
- 24:07Speaker 2: have that issue, but we almost had that issue early.
- 24:10Speaker 2: You figured, like we made sixty like we would have
- 24:12Speaker 2: spent I forget how much that front end was, but
- 24:14Speaker 2: we would have been out that. So it's just really
- 24:17Speaker 2: like having there's a lot of a lot of different pitfalls.
- 24:20Speaker 7: So in true Philly fashion wins and losses. Right, yes,
- 24:23Speaker 7: about let's talk about some expensive thing true Philly fashion.
- 24:27Speaker 7: So let's let's go into a one that didn't work
- 24:30Speaker 7: and the numbers didn't hit and say all right, well,
- 24:32Speaker 7: we gotta go through it.
- 24:33Speaker 2: So we was going down the line. So we did
- 24:35Speaker 2: Fab and Philly, we did Ross and Philly, we did
- 24:37Speaker 2: Fab and Kiss and Boston and after that we was like, man,
- 24:41Speaker 2: heat checked, we on fire, Let's go out Baltimore. Like
- 24:44Speaker 2: that ain't that far. They just like Philly. It's the
- 24:46Speaker 2: same vibe, like they same same way. So we booked
- 24:50Speaker 2: g Zy, We booked uh ybis Scola who's from Baltimore.
- 24:54Speaker 2: He's not he's not really that known right now, but
- 24:57Speaker 2: back then he had a big song shining. And we
- 25:00Speaker 2: book pmb Rock who's from our city. And man, Baltimore
- 25:05Speaker 2: was like last minute and there was so much anxiety
- 25:09Speaker 2: and then like yeah, walk up town and we had
- 25:13Speaker 2: that that The day we had that show was to
- 25:16Speaker 2: rental downpour so it was raining crazy. So we did
- 25:19Speaker 2: terrible in the in the box office. We lost a
- 25:22Speaker 2: ton of money. I remember being in in the lobby
- 25:26Speaker 2: at a hotel we were staying at in Baltimore following day.
- 25:30Speaker 7: The following day and following more.
- 25:32Speaker 2: For me and I was getting ready to go back
- 25:33Speaker 2: to Philly and Mayor was like we were talking to
- 25:35Speaker 2: each other, were like, man, like you got enough to
- 25:37Speaker 2: get back to Philly. On the toll side of things,
- 25:40Speaker 2: like toll money tolls back and forth to Baltimore's forty dollars.
- 25:46Speaker 2: So like we was in there literally trying to streak
- 25:48Speaker 2: together eighty dollars. We just had to show the night before.
- 25:51Speaker 2: The budget for that show was like one hundred and
- 25:53Speaker 2: seventy thousand. How much you lost probably like a hundred yeah,
- 25:58Speaker 2: something one hundred thousand, but then yeah, it was eighty
- 26:03Speaker 2: dollars we were trying to put together just to get
- 26:05Speaker 2: back to Philly.
- 26:06Speaker 7: And we took a break after that.
- 26:08Speaker 5: It was four months.
- 26:10Speaker 2: It was humbling, but like the importance of relationships was
- 26:13Speaker 2: Like I said, we booked p and b Rock on
- 26:15Speaker 2: that show. He didn't really have it going in Baltimore,
- 26:18Speaker 2: but he was from our city, so we gave him
- 26:19Speaker 2: a shot and we built a relationship with him. So
- 26:23Speaker 2: and his management team and the guys is on his label.
- 26:27Speaker 2: So when we were able to get back four months later,
- 26:29Speaker 2: we had did his first, like one of his biggest
- 26:32Speaker 2: shows in Philly. They gave us an opportunity to do that,
- 26:35Speaker 2: and that's what really got us back on track. We
- 26:38Speaker 2: did two shows one day. We did the phil Moore
- 26:40Speaker 2: Back to back. We had sold the first show so
- 26:42Speaker 2: fast that we had to add a second show, so
- 26:45Speaker 2: we did five thousand people one day. We had a show.
- 26:47Speaker 2: Originally we had to show at seven o'clock, so that
- 26:50Speaker 2: one sold out, so we ended up putting the show earlier.
- 26:54Speaker 2: I think it started like four or five o'clock. We
- 26:56Speaker 2: sold that one out too, so we did five thousand
- 26:58Speaker 2: tickets in one day. But that came because of the
- 27:00Speaker 2: relationship we had with him. Yeah, we took a loss.
- 27:03Speaker 2: It was hard, it was crazy. We didn't know how
- 27:05Speaker 2: we was going to get back, but that relationship was
- 27:07Speaker 2: able to help us sustain and get back up and
- 27:10Speaker 2: really keep it going.
- 27:12Speaker 4: How do you how do you know how many people
- 27:14Speaker 4: at the venue? Like do you know? All right, this
- 27:18Speaker 4: artist is good for one thousand person venue, this artist
- 27:20Speaker 4: is good for four thousand person venue? Like how do
- 27:24Speaker 4: you Obviously it's never a set science, or maybe it is.
- 27:27Speaker 4: How do you determine the size of a venue?
- 27:31Speaker 7: It's a good resource. Pollstar it's good.
- 27:34Speaker 4: Pole Star stars like a website.
- 27:36Speaker 5: It's like a website. A website you can purchase a membership.
- 27:39Speaker 7: What is that? So it's basically.
- 27:42Speaker 2: It keeps stats to like every show that happens, like
- 27:45Speaker 2: any artists, they go on.
- 27:46Speaker 4: Toward they touring the past history here.
- 27:48Speaker 2: Yeah, so their touring history is real concrete, it's real detail,
- 27:53Speaker 2: and it tells you, like what how artists perform and
- 27:57Speaker 2: every market that they hit. It's not every show because
- 27:59Speaker 2: every show doesn't calculate on there, but like those big tours,
- 28:02Speaker 2: you can see it and you can see how much
- 28:05Speaker 2: how much they generated, like and what's the numbers.
- 28:08Speaker 7: You can see a lot of good information.
- 28:10Speaker 4: So you can say, Okay, this person did a thousand
- 28:12Speaker 4: people in Philly, so the venue of a thousand people.
- 28:15Speaker 4: Four thousand people doesn't make sense. He's never done that before, right, But.
- 28:17Speaker 3: We also keep right, we keep ourselves grounded. So like
- 28:21Speaker 3: in Philly we hitting the clubs, we hit another concepts.
- 28:23Speaker 3: Were watching artists from the start, so we've had artists
- 28:26Speaker 3: that jumped like we did a little Dirt. We was
- 28:28Speaker 3: doing a little dirt when he was doing twenty five
- 28:30Speaker 3: hundred people, we were selling them out. But then just
- 28:33Speaker 3: in July we did nine thousand people and sold Little
- 28:35Speaker 3: Dirt out, which that's like was a huge jump. When
- 28:38Speaker 3: you think about touring, like an artist going from being
- 28:40Speaker 3: a twenty five hundred, three thousand person artists to now
- 28:44Speaker 3: nine thousand person artists. But it was like we've seen
- 28:47Speaker 3: the growth, like we've seen the build up a little dirt.
- 28:49Speaker 3: We knew what he had going on, so he wasn't
- 28:51Speaker 3: afraid to take that shot of putting them at a
- 28:53Speaker 3: venue the whole nine thousand. So it's about just paying attention.
- 28:56Speaker 3: It's some artists that came out that we knew, Like
- 28:58Speaker 3: the first time we booked a little we knew Little
- 29:00Speaker 3: Baby was ready for twenty five hundred people. Yeah, in
- 29:03Speaker 3: the city, we ain't have to start at the thousand
- 29:05Speaker 3: or eleven hundred person speaks because we knew, like, all right,
- 29:08Speaker 3: he on fire right now, and with our brand, with
- 29:11Speaker 3: our marketing strategies, we know we can sell out the
- 29:13Speaker 3: film work. So it just depends on the artists, depend
- 29:16Speaker 3: on the situation. But Pole Star has been good for
- 29:18Speaker 3: us as well as just us always staying grounded and
- 29:21Speaker 3: close to the people, so that way we know, like,
- 29:23Speaker 3: all right, this artist could really work.
- 29:26Speaker 7: I was gonna say House of Blues is like that's
- 29:27Speaker 7: like the twenty five, So that's like going from House
- 29:29Speaker 7: of Blues to go into like the NBA arena.
- 29:31Speaker 3: Yeah, like a small college arena nine thousands of years.
- 29:35Speaker 7: One of the things that you and y'all mentioned the relationships.
- 29:37Speaker 7: You said Baby, you said, Dirt said, P and B.
- 29:42Speaker 7: How are y'all managing to keep sustainable relationships with them,
- 29:45Speaker 7: because that's that's tough. Like a lot of times people
- 29:46Speaker 7: just booked them and you bade them and it's like,
- 29:48Speaker 7: all right, yeah, that was a feeing here for business
- 29:51Speaker 7: and let's move on. But y'all managing it keeps the
- 29:53Speaker 7: same relationships where you can bring Baby back, you can
- 29:55Speaker 7: bring Dirk back, because there's something on that you guys
- 29:58Speaker 7: are doing bus here well. Well.
- 30:00Speaker 3: Our slogan since we started has always been ain't no
- 30:02Speaker 3: shows like dope shows, and we really put a lot
- 30:04Speaker 3: into that, whether that's with the production with the artists,
- 30:07Speaker 3: we actually create, like the screen work that goes on
- 30:11Speaker 3: behind the artists. A lot of times they get bored
- 30:12Speaker 3: into that where it's like we actually make their show
- 30:15Speaker 3: look different than they has looked as they travel all
- 30:17Speaker 3: over the world, as well as like the backstage experience
- 30:21Speaker 3: or making sure that you're making them feel good when
- 30:23Speaker 3: they're in the city, when they're in your market. Also
- 30:26Speaker 3: talking with the artists, like it's important to us. In
- 30:27Speaker 3: the beginning, we ain't really were so focused on the business.
- 30:30Speaker 3: We was less focused on the artists, and at one
- 30:33Speaker 3: point it kind of clicked for It's like we booking
- 30:35Speaker 3: a lot of the same people, so let's build these relationships.
- 30:39Speaker 3: Like once we the first time we booked Fab, we
- 30:41Speaker 3: ain't really talk much with Fab backstage in Philly, but
- 30:44Speaker 3: then when we booked them in Boston, it was like
- 30:46Speaker 3: we was chilling with Fab in Boston. So then that
- 30:48Speaker 3: then started the relationship. Where with Dirt, it was like
- 30:51Speaker 3: the first time we booked Dirt, it was cool, we
- 30:54Speaker 3: was in Philly, but then a month later we had
- 30:56Speaker 3: them in DC and it was like now you consistently
- 30:59Speaker 3: seeing the artist on a regular basis, and now you're
- 31:01Speaker 3: talking with him and getting them board into the brain.
- 31:04Speaker 3: Like when we were doing our festival, it was like
- 31:06Speaker 3: letting them know like it's two black men that built
- 31:08Speaker 3: a festival in our city, were both from West Philly.
- 31:11Speaker 3: The festival was in a venue that's actually in West Philly,
- 31:14Speaker 3: so it was like just getting artists boarding it at
- 31:17Speaker 3: so they kind of be bored into our story, into
- 31:19Speaker 3: the brand. So It's like that usually helped as well, first.
- 31:22Speaker 7: Booking them into that time, Like are you saying, like
- 31:25Speaker 7: all right if they need to be on stage by eight,
- 31:27Speaker 7: are you telling them yeah?
- 31:29Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 31:30Speaker 2: Also in addition to that, like first time Little Dirk
- 31:33Speaker 2: performed with a band was at our show. Our production
- 31:37Speaker 2: guy who's been with us even like back when we
- 31:40Speaker 2: first started, before he got with Dirt. He's with Dirt
- 31:42Speaker 2: now he's on he's Dirt's like tour manager, like he
- 31:45Speaker 2: runs Dirk's whole tour. We had a conversation. I was like, man,
- 31:49Speaker 2: I was like me and Mary was at lunch with him.
- 31:52Speaker 2: I was like, man, like Dirk, his music really is
- 31:54Speaker 2: like rock and roll, like it really is, like when
- 31:57Speaker 2: you think about it, like it's got like a very
- 31:59Speaker 2: musical element it. And I was like, he it would
- 32:02Speaker 2: be crazy if he if he if he did a
- 32:04Speaker 2: band like just this was just like for our show,
- 32:07Speaker 2: and and I was like, really think about it. I
- 32:09Speaker 2: was like, y'all really performed like that Drake song, Like
- 32:11Speaker 2: that's a crazy song, Like think about the horns on
- 32:14Speaker 2: that song. I'm like, you should put up doing that,
- 32:19Speaker 2: put the band behind that. And they end up doing
- 32:22Speaker 2: that band and they performed a band in dirt. He
- 32:25Speaker 2: is set is amazing and it's like that small thing,
- 32:28Speaker 2: like we was with him when he was just going
- 32:30Speaker 2: out there with the DJ and in his homies, but
- 32:33Speaker 2: just that small change in his tour and his show,
- 32:36Speaker 2: it made a huge difference. And I'm happy that the
- 32:40Speaker 2: guy we worked with was able to implement that into
- 32:43Speaker 2: his whole career. And it's just amazing to see it grow.
- 32:46Speaker 3: It's just crazy like that started in Philly and then
- 32:48Speaker 3: he end up taking that same band, a bunch of
- 32:50Speaker 3: Philly guys, like his drummer, his pianoist, all of them
- 32:54Speaker 3: his Philly guys.
- 32:55Speaker 5: They started on the Dope Show.
- 32:56Speaker 3: Stage and then they went around the world with that
- 32:58Speaker 3: same tour, that same set on the back outside to
- 33:02Speaker 3: a little baby.
- 33:03Speaker 4: So as far as the promotion, I'm gonna talk about this.
- 33:09Speaker 4: Do you put in the contract for the artists that
- 33:11Speaker 4: they have to promote on their social media?
- 33:13Speaker 9: Yes?
- 33:13Speaker 7: And that's sometimes a wrestle.
- 33:16Speaker 4: And then so what's what's the language that you usually use?
- 33:20Speaker 7: Very specific?
- 33:21Speaker 2: If it's an IG page post, i G pit this,
- 33:25Speaker 2: many i G page posts, this, many story posts, this,
- 33:28Speaker 2: this drop this when is supposed to have very specific.
- 33:33Speaker 3: So like a lot of times we'll say, like we
- 33:35Speaker 3: want a page post the dated tickets go on sell
- 33:37Speaker 3: and we specify the date.
- 33:40Speaker 4: It's like how long you gotta leave it up for?
- 33:42Speaker 3: Yeah, why don't necessarily say how long they got to
- 33:45Speaker 3: leave it up for? It is just usually like we
- 33:47Speaker 3: wanted to go up on this day. And then if
- 33:49Speaker 3: they a lot of times they let it live, if
- 33:52Speaker 3: they end up actually doing.
- 33:53Speaker 2: It, because it may it make a difference. I mean,
- 33:56Speaker 2: that's your connection with your fans. And one thing about Fab,
- 33:59Speaker 2: like you were saying, like Fab, he's forty thousand, Like
- 34:02Speaker 2: he's still at price. He're like he like he wants
- 34:04Speaker 2: the promoter to make money, and like, as an artist,
- 34:07Speaker 2: you should want the promoter make money. Whether it's us,
- 34:09Speaker 2: whether it's Live Nation, whether it's Rolling Line, whoever it is,
- 34:13Speaker 2: you should want them to make any money because they're
- 34:15Speaker 2: gonna be able to They're gonna want to book you
- 34:16Speaker 2: again and again and again. It's just like anything else.
- 34:19Speaker 2: So I feel like when you when you get out
- 34:22Speaker 2: there and you promote the show and you do stuff
- 34:24Speaker 2: that you're supposed to do, it's important. It's like it's
- 34:27Speaker 2: making the train rid, right, along nice and smooth.
- 34:29Speaker 4: No, you know who's the best person that we've come
- 34:32Speaker 4: into contact with? Take your guess artist.
- 34:37Speaker 7: I just got to say fab, shout the fab. But Bro.
- 34:44Speaker 3: Was promoting our show like crazy, shout.
- 34:48Speaker 4: What's his solid? But I was gonna say Jim Jones,
- 34:51Speaker 4: Jim Jones, Hey, he has no rider, never asked for anything,
- 34:56Speaker 4: like And we did the show with the Apollo and
- 34:59Speaker 4: we got him and he asks me for the flyer. Yeah,
- 35:02Speaker 4: Like I ain't even ask him to post a flyer, yeah,
- 35:04Speaker 4: because it was already going to sell out already. But
- 35:08Speaker 4: his team reached out like, yo, Jim, can you get
- 35:09Speaker 4: us the fly Jim posted it put the whole like yo, seller.

- 37:36Speaker 4: Da da da da. Then have Santana post it cause
- 37:38Speaker 4: Santana's a job did you have?
- 37:40Speaker 2: So they understand. They understand I grew up like in
- 37:45Speaker 2: a crew where I used to be. He probably remember
- 37:46Speaker 2: I used to be around Jen Jones when I was younger,
- 37:49Speaker 2: and it's like they come from that era where it
- 37:51Speaker 2: was like they had to hustle to be where they
- 37:52Speaker 2: at h So they understand, like man, these black guys
- 37:56Speaker 2: they see like it's like yeah, like help.
- 37:59Speaker 4: Them, Yeah, why not?
- 38:01Speaker 7: You're gonna lose from that.
- 38:02Speaker 4: Yeah, so yeah, and you're actually getting paid.
- 38:04Speaker 5: To be there while we pulling and you see the cycle.
- 38:08Speaker 3: It's like an artist who act like they don't want
- 38:10Speaker 3: to post, and then you'll see eighteen months from now,
- 38:13Speaker 3: nobody even like it's like you was better off posting when.
- 38:17Speaker 4: When you had the opportunity contracts. How important is it
- 38:22Speaker 4: to have contracts in place and not just a handshake agreement.
- 38:26Speaker 2: Yeah, it's super important, very important, very very important, very specific,
- 38:30Speaker 2: very like it makes everybody accountable for sure.
- 38:35Speaker 3: So yeah, holds everybody accountable in in this business is
- 38:38Speaker 3: a lot of things that you that you don't necessarily
- 38:41Speaker 3: know what's gonna come.
- 38:41Speaker 2: Right.
- 38:42Speaker 3: We ain't know we was gonna be sitting down for
- 38:43Speaker 3: fifteen months because of COVID. So it's like when you
- 38:46Speaker 3: got those handshake deals, those those won't be able to
- 38:50Speaker 3: hold up when you're talking about rescheduling and you're talking
- 38:52Speaker 3: about things canceling or just stuff happening.
- 38:54Speaker 5: It's like you got to have the business in order.
- 38:57Speaker 7: Yeah, you said speaking of the fifteen months. A lot
- 39:01Speaker 7: of times, like people will have insurance on shows. Can
- 39:04Speaker 7: you talk about that? Is that something that you guys
- 39:06Speaker 7: have to have in the of cancelation because a lot
- 39:09Speaker 7: of people don't think about yo, I need to have
- 39:10Speaker 7: insurance in the events, like you did a festival, you
- 39:12Speaker 7: might need insurance if.
- 39:13Speaker 2: It rains, so specifically at our festival, I mean we
- 39:18Speaker 2: have to have insurance on our shows. As far as
- 39:19Speaker 2: our festival, we had specific a specific policy. We had
- 39:23Speaker 2: a rain policy and it rained cats and dogs at
- 39:25Speaker 2: our festival.
- 39:27Speaker 7: We had how.
- 39:30Speaker 2: Big Yeah, it was like six hundred grand, and we
- 39:33Speaker 2: end up we had made some money in the box
- 39:36Speaker 2: office and we were depending on the rest of our
- 39:38Speaker 2: money to come in with the walk up, but it
- 39:40Speaker 2: had rained so bad that we weren't able to recruit
- 39:43Speaker 2: that money that was going to be on the walk up.
- 39:45Speaker 2: So we had a big policy for two hundred and
- 39:48Speaker 2: fifty grand for a rain policy that if it rained
- 39:51Speaker 2: so much so many inches, we would get that money.
- 39:54Speaker 2: So that kind of compensated for all the walk up
- 39:56Speaker 2: that we didn't get. And that was just like us
- 39:59Speaker 2: just prime in and poking and just finding out things
- 40:01Speaker 2: for our insurance agent. So insurance is super super important.
- 40:06Speaker 7: Like.
- 40:09Speaker 4: They made today for real, for real honestly, like we
- 40:11Speaker 4: was gonna take a bag literally and having.
- 40:14Speaker 5: The rain insurance.
- 40:16Speaker 3: Like people was calling us the next day saying like, damn,
- 40:19Speaker 3: sorry it rained on y'all. Y'all had a good event,
- 40:21Speaker 3: but it rained. And we was looking at each other
- 40:23Speaker 3: like thank guys, like we would seeing it.
- 40:30Speaker 5: But it poured that.
- 40:31Speaker 3: Day, Like we were seeing puddles in the venue and
- 40:34Speaker 3: it was like because the venue was kind of like
- 40:36Speaker 3: indoor outdoor, it was puddles inside the venue and we
- 40:39Speaker 3: was just looking even that day we was like, yeah,
- 40:41Speaker 3: we know, we know it rained more than what we did.
- 40:44Speaker 4: So I want to talk about like scaling because it's
- 40:46Speaker 4: another thing that we had to go through. This is
- 40:49Speaker 4: what information is good. A lot of stuff you don't
- 40:51Speaker 4: know until you actually have to go through it, like
- 40:52Speaker 4: we go through stuff. So the first we was just
- 40:55Speaker 4: controlling the whole venue. We get a venue, like we did,
- 40:59Speaker 4: did you ugual Well Congress Center in Atlanta for invest Fest.
- 41:03Speaker 4: We just get the venue. We can do whatever we want.
- 41:06Speaker 4: But then Apollo it was a ticket Master venue. So
- 41:08Speaker 4: that was our first time going through ticket Master and
- 41:11Speaker 4: it's a whole bunch of different things that you got
- 41:13Speaker 4: to go through ticket at a like the seating charts,
- 41:16Speaker 4: so it's like different prices like so Investments. It was
- 41:18Speaker 4: four thousand people, but there was only two ticket prices,
- 41:20Speaker 4: vi IP ticket and general mission ticket, So it's a
- 41:23Speaker 4: lot easier. But did Apollo, we had like five different
- 41:25Speaker 4: ticket Like you could be fifty dollars, you could be
- 41:27Speaker 4: two hundred and one fifty depending on where you're sitting, right,
- 41:29Speaker 4: we had to determine that. But then also they hold
- 41:32Speaker 4: the money. They take a percentage of the money. So
- 41:35Speaker 4: so I know you'll got a big show coming up
- 41:37Speaker 4: at Wells Fargo, we'll talking about that, and I'm assuming
- 41:39Speaker 4: that's ticket Master.
- 41:40Speaker 7: Right, No, that's actually what Wells Fargo's has their own.
- 41:43Speaker 4: Got their own thing. Yeah, okay, so talk about.
- 41:46Speaker 3: Ticket We've been in that system the entire time, every Master.
- 41:49Speaker 3: Every event we've ever done other than this show that
- 41:53Speaker 3: we have coming up, has always been through tickets.
- 41:54Speaker 4: Oh you always use Ticketmaster, Yeah, because we use.
- 41:57Speaker 5: A lot of our venues we've used as a live
- 41:59Speaker 5: Nation venues.
- 42:00Speaker 3: On So talk about that, talk about working with ticket mass,
- 42:05Speaker 3: I mean, honestly, we kind of used to it. I
- 42:07Speaker 3: think the biggest thing for us was when we first started,
- 42:10Speaker 3: Like you just said, when we first started, we would
- 42:12Speaker 3: have our price points. But we did a lot of
- 42:15Speaker 3: shows at the field More House of Blues, those type
- 42:17Speaker 3: of venues where their general admission venues is staying in
- 42:21Speaker 3: room only, so you're not getting into the seat portion.
- 42:24Speaker 3: When we started doing the Net which is another venue
- 42:26Speaker 3: in our city which is a big larger than the
- 42:28Speaker 3: field More, but it's seated, So that was when we
- 42:31Speaker 3: started had to get into more of the scaling, and
- 42:33Speaker 3: with that we start our strategy came into like, all right,
- 42:37Speaker 3: the this how much money we want to make off
- 42:39Speaker 3: the show this movie want our total revenue to be.
- 42:41Speaker 3: So then we would back it out of like all right,
- 42:43Speaker 3: divide dad bout how many seats, So then we know
- 42:45Speaker 3: the average seat of the venue got to be this
- 42:48Speaker 3: amount of money, so then we would scale the show
- 42:50Speaker 3: that way. We're like, all right, if we know we
- 42:52Speaker 3: need an average ticket, the center ticket need to be
- 42:54Speaker 3: let's just say for the sake of talking, the center
- 42:57Speaker 3: ticket needs to be one hundred dollars. Our average ticket
- 42:58Speaker 3: needs to be one hundred dollars. So it's like, all right,
- 43:00Speaker 3: we know we could go as low as fifty dollars
- 43:03Speaker 3: up top, but we know up front we need people
- 43:04Speaker 3: at one fifty to all set the center being one
- 43:08Speaker 3: hundred dollars. So then that's how we would just start
- 43:10Speaker 3: to scale the show.
- 43:11Speaker 2: Yeah, and we look at it like real estate, like
- 43:13Speaker 2: where are you sitting at, Like what's your view, what's
- 43:16Speaker 2: your advantage point. We also have a system where we
- 43:19Speaker 2: do like a big spread sheet and we got like
- 43:22Speaker 2: for the Wells Farger, we got every seat broken out,
- 43:24Speaker 2: like every wherever you're at in the venue, and we
- 43:26Speaker 2: can make small changes on this big spreadsheet that can
- 43:31Speaker 2: give you an outcome of like what's going to be
- 43:34Speaker 2: when you make those changes. So we got like a
- 43:36Speaker 2: big spreadsheet. We work with a seat a guy that
- 43:39Speaker 2: was a CFO. He helped us build like this whole
- 43:41Speaker 2: spread sheet. So that's how we kind of build the
- 43:43Speaker 2: Wells Fargo and it helped us also with the mat
- 43:47Speaker 2: which is like a seated venue because every seat is
- 43:50Speaker 2: real estate wherever you sit in at Like I'm sitting here,
- 43:52Speaker 2: I'm closer to you. If I'm over there, it's maybe
- 43:55Speaker 2: not worth as much. So yeah, so I like that
- 43:58Speaker 2: every seat is real estate like that stuff.
- 44:00Speaker 7: Right.
- 44:00Speaker 4: Yeah, So marketing, because that's the biggest part I'm assumming.
- 44:05Speaker 4: You can have jay Z, but if nobody knows that
- 44:07Speaker 4: jay Z's going to be there. Yeah, it's not going
- 44:09Speaker 4: to be worthing. So I know you said that you
- 44:11Speaker 4: knew through do guerrilla marketing, but like what is what
- 44:14Speaker 4: is some marketing? And like how much money do you
- 44:16Speaker 4: usually allocate to marketing?
- 44:18Speaker 3: So I'm gonna just use our Wells for Fargo show
- 44:21Speaker 3: coming up because I feel like this is our big
- 44:23Speaker 3: one of our biggest marketing budgets, and a lot of
- 44:26Speaker 3: the marketing that we're doing is super creative. So this
- 44:30Speaker 3: budget for the Wells Fargar marketing budgets around seventy thousand
- 44:34Speaker 3: just for marketing, just for marketing.
- 44:36Speaker 5: Uh So we got around.
- 44:38Speaker 3: Twenty buses that's wrapped full buses wrapped throughout the city's
- 44:42Speaker 3: ridding around as the fact that everybody's seeing it, like
- 44:46Speaker 3: the public public transportation cepting. And then we got like
- 44:50Speaker 3: in the ls so that's like our train station, like
- 44:54Speaker 3: actually in the stations or in the actual cars that
- 44:57Speaker 3: people sitting in there is there going to work, coming
- 44:59Speaker 3: from work, going to school, coming from school. We got
- 45:02Speaker 3: maybe twenty in the l's and then twenty in the
- 45:05Speaker 3: sub that's just placed as well as we do like
- 45:08Speaker 3: posters so we'll do like posters plaster all throughout the city.
- 45:11Speaker 3: We usually do like twenty five hundred posters. We usually
- 45:14Speaker 3: get like fifty thousand flyers have. We got a street
- 45:17Speaker 3: team of guys that will go and hand out at
- 45:19Speaker 3: all the high school letouts, middle school letouts, college mid
- 45:23Speaker 3: day college stuff. Because Philly is a big college town.
- 45:27Speaker 3: We got Temple, you Pin, Drexel, LaSalle like it's a
- 45:30Speaker 3: bunch of different schools there. We hit all like the clubs,
- 45:34Speaker 3: going to concerts, making sure that all our flyers every
- 45:37Speaker 3: it's in the venue. So if it's a show that's
- 45:39Speaker 3: coming to Philly, dope shows, Flyers is going to be
- 45:41Speaker 3: present there as well as attacking social media, making sure
- 45:45Speaker 3: we got the sponsor ads, making sure that we're creative
- 45:48Speaker 3: with the content. So like for this Well as Fargo show,
- 45:50Speaker 3: we had eighty seven days from the time we announced
- 45:53Speaker 3: it up until the date of the show. In our
- 45:55Speaker 3: marketing plan, we listed out every day for the eighty
- 45:58Speaker 3: seven days, and it's every day we got content that
- 46:01Speaker 3: we're delivering the people for those eighty seven days to
- 46:04Speaker 3: make sure we reached them and that was with creative videos.
- 46:07Speaker 3: That was with us doing walkthroughs at the Wells Fargo,
- 46:10Speaker 3: showing people the venue, showing people the production, talking to
- 46:13Speaker 3: the consumer, telling them what they expect, getting the drops
- 46:16Speaker 3: from the artists. So it's a lot to go into
- 46:19Speaker 3: the to the market in eighty years. So then Power
- 46:22Speaker 3: ninety nine they ended up, which is the largest station
- 46:25Speaker 3: in Philly.
- 46:28Speaker 7: On that.
- 46:28Speaker 3: Yeah, we just did the come up show like two
- 46:30Speaker 3: weeks ago, and we ended up getting them from all
- 46:33Speaker 3: the money that we spent over the years and just
- 46:35Speaker 3: with our relationship with them, we was able to get
- 46:37Speaker 3: them to fully partner with us and back the concert
- 46:39Speaker 3: one hundred percent. So like right now and that we
- 46:41Speaker 3: was a turn on Power ninety nine, they probably talking
- 46:43Speaker 3: about it and having ticket giveaways like that's important too.
- 46:46Speaker 3: We learned that early in the business, like you I
- 46:49Speaker 3: do when you when you're doing your purchasing with your
- 46:51Speaker 3: radio station, you want to incorporate ticket giveaways. You want
- 46:55Speaker 3: them mentions outside of the commercials that you're paying for
- 46:58Speaker 3: because they may mention it six seven times. We're just
- 47:00Speaker 3: giving out two tickets, so you want those mentioned. So
- 47:04Speaker 3: the radio was a huge thing.
- 47:05Speaker 2: And then and we did a school tour, high school tour,
- 47:08Speaker 2: so we did went to about so far like five
- 47:11Speaker 2: high schools in Philly. So we just go into the
- 47:13Speaker 2: high school just really just to talk as black men,
- 47:16Speaker 2: like black businessmen, and we take a bunch of black
- 47:19Speaker 2: women as well, women just people that's in the business world, entrepreneurs,
- 47:24Speaker 2: and we talk about like positive messaging, like you don't
- 47:27Speaker 2: like we got a violence problem in Philly. So I
- 47:29Speaker 2: mean it's like that a lot of places in the country,
- 47:32Speaker 2: but in Philly is bad. So we just talked just
- 47:35Speaker 2: we black men up here that just built that built
- 47:37Speaker 2: this business. Like whatever y'all want to do, y'all can
- 47:39Speaker 2: do it. Just really giving them that positive reinforcement. We
- 47:43Speaker 2: talk about the show. We have giveaways, give them merch,
- 47:45Speaker 2: give them tickets, just really talking to them. We bring
- 47:49Speaker 2: artists and so we've done that. We've done so many things.
- 47:52Speaker 2: Market feel like.
- 47:54Speaker 4: What about social media influencers, Uh, we.
- 47:56Speaker 7: Do we got we got that.
- 47:58Speaker 3: So we so we got some influences just like tied
- 48:00Speaker 3: to the brain. Its like been with the brand since
- 48:02Speaker 3: the beginning. And they come to all the shows, they
- 48:05Speaker 3: get some type of experience while they got the shows,
- 48:07Speaker 3: but no matter what we got going on, they posting,
- 48:10Speaker 3: they let they alert their social media. But the Piggybag
- 48:13Speaker 3: all with Step was saying the high school tour piece
- 48:15Speaker 3: was good because then that gave us a lot of
- 48:17Speaker 3: the news coverage, different different things, just on the give
- 48:21Speaker 3: back side of things. And then with the kids, it's
- 48:24Speaker 3: like now you might only have you might have a
- 48:26Speaker 3: school of a thousand kids, the school is select with
- 48:29Speaker 3: one hundred kids is coming to this, but now it's
- 48:32Speaker 3: like all the kids know, and now they're telling everybody,
- 48:35Speaker 3: telling everybody in the neighborhoods. And the way we kind
- 48:37Speaker 3: of structured the school tour was like touching every area
- 48:40Speaker 3: of the city, so not like like we got we
- 48:42Speaker 3: went to West Philly Hot that's in West Philly, but
- 48:44Speaker 3: then we also touched Gratz and Serry Mansion which is
- 48:47Speaker 3: in North Philly, and then bark tround. Yeah, like we
- 48:50Speaker 3: just hit different parts of the city to make sure
- 48:52Speaker 3: that we're really covering it where everybody really know.
- 48:54Speaker 2: In our marketing is super creative, like if you look
- 48:57Speaker 2: at our flyer, like our flyers like like every time
- 49:01Speaker 2: we want to come with the marketing, the creative stuff
- 49:03Speaker 2: like next level stuff, like we thinking the ideas like
- 49:06Speaker 2: oh this just go with that, this go with this
- 49:09Speaker 2: like color schemes. We did that for this whole campaign
- 49:13Speaker 2: with the Wells Fargo we got, we had cartoon characters
- 49:17Speaker 2: made and then that's how we started the base of
- 49:19Speaker 2: the flyer and then like we added in different elements.
- 49:22Speaker 2: So it's our marketing is always like very very inspirational,
- 49:27Speaker 2: very like well thought out.
- 49:29Speaker 7: There's a lot of games. I got a bunch of questions.
- 49:31Speaker 7: Just listen to all that game is now. Number one
- 49:33Speaker 7: was you said that getting the advertisement on public transportation?
- 49:37Speaker 7: What's that process? Like who do you reach out to?
- 49:39Speaker 7: And then you said that you bought the radio ads,
- 49:41Speaker 7: and so like I'm wondering if that's based off relationships
- 49:44Speaker 7: or like what does that look like? Because again, I
- 49:47Speaker 7: mean you hear it all the time. People are like, Yo, hey,
- 49:49Speaker 7: this show's coming out. Make sure y'all go check it out.
- 49:51Speaker 7: What's that process? Like?
- 49:52Speaker 2: So we bought the raid, we bought the bus buses. Uh,
- 49:56Speaker 2: it's a feed to actually wrap the buses. So I
- 49:59Speaker 2: mean we could go to the budget, I guess, so
- 50:01Speaker 2: to wrap all of the buses we had it was
- 50:03Speaker 2: thirty thousand to wrap all the bus Yeah. No, there's
- 50:07Speaker 2: an ad company intersection.
- 50:10Speaker 7: There's an ad.
- 50:11Speaker 2: Company and they do they do large format advertisements. They
- 50:17Speaker 2: do in the bus depots on the buses, uh the
- 50:22Speaker 2: but like the bus stops. They got so many assets
- 50:25Speaker 2: that they that they be able to offer you and
- 50:27Speaker 2: you got to put together the ad creative or whatever
- 50:30Speaker 2: like that's how like our flyer and you give it
- 50:33Speaker 2: to them and they break it out and they position
- 50:35Speaker 2: it on the bus.
- 50:36Speaker 7: So we did that.
- 50:37Speaker 2: And as far as the radio station, we always on
- 50:39Speaker 2: the radio, we always deal with Part ninety nine. We've
- 50:42Speaker 2: done business with them for years and years and years.
- 50:44Speaker 2: So for this show, we had to talk to the
- 50:46Speaker 2: program director to get the proper support. Because you can
- 50:51Speaker 2: have ads on the radio running all day, but it's
- 50:53Speaker 2: about having the proper support. So we talked to the
- 50:55Speaker 2: program director over there, shout out to DC he might
- 50:58Speaker 2: listen to this to AIE, I'm sure he does. He
- 51:00Speaker 2: helped us build our marketing campaign on the radio.
- 51:05Speaker 3: So yeah, I mean just for somebody getting on the radio.
- 51:09Speaker 3: When we first started our first show, we went to
- 51:11Speaker 3: the radio. So that was back twenty seventeen, Freddie versus Jason,
- 51:15Speaker 3: we took it to the radio. We got a rep
- 51:17Speaker 3: at that time. They positioned us with a rep and
- 51:20Speaker 3: we used that saying like that's still our rep today.
- 51:23Speaker 3: So we built the so I would say like, if
- 51:25Speaker 3: when you go to radio, whoever it is, your rep is,
- 51:27Speaker 3: you want to make sure that you got a true
- 51:29Speaker 3: relationship with them and grow with them, tell them your vision,
- 51:32Speaker 3: like we was talking to them early on, like we've
- 51:34Speaker 3: had plenty of meetings with our rep at Power ninety nine,
- 51:37Speaker 3: telling her the growth that we wanted for the company
- 51:40Speaker 3: and how we wanted this support from the beginning. And
- 51:42Speaker 3: she used to tell us early on, like, once y'all
- 51:45Speaker 3: get to a certain point, like we probably would be
- 51:47Speaker 3: able to step in and partner with y'all and do
- 51:51Speaker 3: all this good creative stuff, but it probably had to
- 51:53Speaker 3: get to a point where y'all and spent certain certain
- 51:54Speaker 3: money with the company that y'alln did certain shows or
- 51:58Speaker 3: had certain acts around. So we kind of just worked
- 52:01Speaker 3: with her and she's seen our growth and now and
- 52:03Speaker 3: that's the position that we ended up. But this is
- 52:05Speaker 3: also the biggest show we got to date.
- 52:07Speaker 4: So let's talk about that. Let's talk about the Wells
- 52:09Speaker 4: Fargo show. What's the deal with that, what's the you know,
- 52:12Speaker 4: thought process and putting together that show.
- 52:14Speaker 5: Dope shows Birthday, Bad.
- 52:16Speaker 3: February tenth, what's your Birthday? That's Dope shows birthday. Dope
- 52:21Speaker 3: shows Birthday.
- 52:22Speaker 4: So that's like the anniversary started.
- 52:24Speaker 2: Yeah, So we got Little Baby, Little Dirt, Donna g Herbo,
- 52:30Speaker 2: and we have Little K and Little Little Young K
- 52:33Speaker 2: Little Move. They two big artists in Philly. They local artists,
- 52:37Speaker 2: but we wanted to get them a spotlight. We kind
- 52:39Speaker 2: of grew with them from when they first started, so
- 52:42Speaker 2: like for Philly, that's our taste poler like we love
- 52:45Speaker 2: Little Baby, we love Dirt, we loved g Herbo and Donna.
- 52:51Speaker 2: So we wanted to make it like condensed. Like usually
- 52:53Speaker 2: when you go to a show of this type of statue,
- 52:56Speaker 2: like your Powerhouses of the World or whatever, it may
- 53:00Speaker 2: have like a whole lot of artists, but you get
- 53:01Speaker 2: in like these small ten to fifteen minutes sets twenty minutes,
- 53:04Speaker 2: and you got a lot of artists you don't really
- 53:06Speaker 2: care about. So we wanted to curate it to whereas
- 53:08Speaker 2: though it is like it's strong and it's like everybody
- 53:11Speaker 2: that you really want to see. So we picked the
- 53:13Speaker 2: four hottest artists we could think of for our area,
- 53:16Speaker 2: and we put them together, and we like, they're gonna
- 53:18Speaker 2: have real sets. They're gonna have forty five minutes, an hour,
- 53:22Speaker 2: hour and a half depending on who the artist is.
- 53:24Speaker 2: So it's like real sets. So when you come, it's like, man,
- 53:27Speaker 2: I got to see I got to see the little baby,
- 53:29Speaker 2: Little Baby, not just some of a bridge version show.
- 53:32Speaker 2: That's really our vibe with Birthday Bash, and our production
- 53:35Speaker 2: is grand. We spending a lot for the production. We
- 53:39Speaker 2: got a big cat walk where the artists is being
- 53:42Speaker 2: be able to walk kind of like into the crowd
- 53:44Speaker 2: on some on some unique stuff, like a little bit
- 53:48Speaker 2: different than like your traditional type of show. So the
- 53:50Speaker 2: biggest show feels ever seen exactly exactly the biggest you've
- 53:54Speaker 2: ever seen. You know.
- 53:55Speaker 3: We have a good planner, so we had we create
- 53:59Speaker 3: these VIP experience and we have event planners help us
- 54:02Speaker 3: with that, like the actual VIP experience.
- 54:04Speaker 5: As far as everything will go into the show.
- 54:06Speaker 4: Yeah, y'all do it. You do it, so y'all put
- 54:09Speaker 4: all the everything together.
- 54:11Speaker 3: Yeah, So we got like a production We got in
- 54:13Speaker 3: house production guys, so like DJ, we have people that
- 54:16Speaker 3: help us through the process. But a lot of the
- 54:17Speaker 3: creativity is coming from me and stuff like even with
- 54:20Speaker 3: the lineup even now, just recently, we was having a
- 54:23Speaker 3: conversation with Dirk's team about just the collaborative effort we
- 54:27Speaker 3: want to see between him and Baby at the show.
- 54:29Speaker 3: Like that's a lot of times we'll curate, Like were
- 54:31Speaker 3: talking to all the artists teams about like y'all all
- 54:34Speaker 3: have records together. We want to make sure that that
- 54:37Speaker 3: get done that night, to where it's like, all right,
- 54:39Speaker 3: y'all popping out on each other's sets, not just like
- 54:42Speaker 3: where's a typical show where you'll see these lineups whereas
- 54:46Speaker 3: four or five artists, but you only see that artist
- 54:48Speaker 3: during their tom slot. Is like we want herb to
- 54:50Speaker 3: pop out when Dirk is on, We want Dirk to
- 54:53Speaker 3: pop out when Baby is on, and just having more
- 54:55Speaker 3: like a family affair that night, trying to give you
- 54:58Speaker 3: like an experience that you won't see nowhere else.
- 55:00Speaker 4: Yeah, so all right, let's talk about a little baby.
- 55:04Speaker 4: I heard he's four hundred thousand, true more than that, Yeah,
- 55:08Speaker 4: he was four hundred, uh worked five fifty five fifty.
- 55:14Speaker 7: So we got the biggest show Philly's ever seen, We
- 55:17Speaker 7: got the hottest artist. This budget sounds crazy, felas.
- 55:21Speaker 4: Budget, The artist is probably a million.
- 55:24Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, I'm a million, a million in talent, a.
- 55:29Speaker 4: Million of talent, just talent a million, and that's not
- 55:33Speaker 4: including the venue. So how much you think you all
- 55:35Speaker 4: in everything is on course at one point one point
- 55:38Speaker 4: five one point five? How much you thin you're gonna make.
- 55:41Speaker 7: Off more than definitely got to do more than you.
- 55:52Speaker 4: So so let me ask you this as far as
- 55:54Speaker 4: putting it together and all of this, are you guys
- 55:56Speaker 4: still funding this out of your pocket or you have
- 55:58Speaker 4: outside no, no outside money, sponsorship.
- 56:02Speaker 2: We're working on sponsors, gratefully, we got the sponsors is
- 56:05Speaker 2: listened frankfully, y'all kind of through come with it.
- 56:08Speaker 4: But so have you ever have you ever thought about
- 56:13Speaker 4: taking other people's money or just everything yourself some ding
- 56:17Speaker 4: dash type make the money up yourself.
- 56:20Speaker 2: Eventually? I think our company is positioned to be, you know, purchased, acquired, acquired,
- 56:28Speaker 2: partner it up with, So we're in position for that
- 56:30Speaker 2: for sure. But we want to run the numbers up
- 56:32Speaker 2: and understand everything that goes into a situation like that
- 56:35Speaker 2: because you got to I mean, we already got proof
- 56:38Speaker 2: of concept, but just like really proof of numbers, like
- 56:41Speaker 2: you was able to do this much on your own.
- 56:43Speaker 2: He was able to make profit this much. So that's
- 56:46Speaker 2: really our our thought process now and.
- 56:49Speaker 4: Twenty twenty dollar people, twenty thousand.
- 56:51Speaker 7: People when y'all sell it out.
- 56:54Speaker 5: Yeah yeah, and were on that trajectory.
- 56:56Speaker 7: Yeah, I know this show that might need to be
- 56:58Speaker 7: in attendance. But what's about that? So I heard you
- 57:02Speaker 7: said it's the Dope show Birthday Bash. Yes, and when
- 57:06Speaker 7: I hit Birthday Bash, I think Atlanta, which makes me
- 57:08Speaker 7: think that this is an annual thing. It is the
- 57:11Speaker 7: same premise.
- 57:11Speaker 2: Yeah, right, So we want to do we want to
- 57:14Speaker 2: do Staples in Philly, like we started off doing like
- 57:17Speaker 2: the small stuff, twenty five hundred people here and there, whatever,
- 57:20Speaker 2: But we want to do like Birthday Bash. We got
- 57:22Speaker 2: Dope Fest, and then we want to put something else
- 57:25Speaker 2: in the fall, so maybe like three or four Staples
- 57:27Speaker 2: and Philly and then grow that to other markets, like
- 57:30Speaker 2: all right, we want to do this market, whether it's
- 57:32Speaker 2: Atlanta or wherever.
- 57:34Speaker 7: I don't know.
- 57:35Speaker 2: Like we got markets, but that's you know, we got
- 57:38Speaker 2: other markets where we want to build Staples. Staples, Staples
- 57:41Speaker 2: a big, big, big events.
- 57:42Speaker 7: Were looking at citizens Field.
- 57:45Speaker 5: It's crazy, that's crazy, you say, that.
- 57:47Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 57:48Speaker 7: I mean because I'm thinking like Philly, Philly. Philly was
- 57:50Speaker 7: the biggest place in Philly where I saw Kevin hartell
- 57:52Speaker 7: out Eagles. Yeah, yeah, that's what.
- 57:56Speaker 4: Yeah, Yeah, it was it hard to get the arena.
- 58:01Speaker 2: We had so many shows that we did, so we
- 58:03Speaker 2: had to fill out like a reference for and when
- 58:05Speaker 2: they probably did the reference, they probably yeah, but he
- 58:08Speaker 2: was able to.
- 58:08Speaker 4: Speak to somebody, yeah, yeah, because like MSG, it was
- 58:10Speaker 4: like impossible just to even speak to something. So he
- 58:13Speaker 4: was able to speak to somebody.
- 58:14Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 58:16Speaker 4: So let's talk about the festival though, Yeah, you're doing this,
- 58:21Speaker 4: it's gonna be annual thing with the festival. Did you
- 58:23Speaker 4: do the festival last year?
- 58:24Speaker 5: Festival twenty nineteen.
- 58:26Speaker 4: That was the last time toft that the last time
- 58:28Speaker 4: he's gonna bring it back and were bringing it back
- 58:29Speaker 4: this twenty twenty twenty two. Yeah, so talk about that.
- 58:32Speaker 4: What's that going to be?
- 58:34Speaker 5: All day festivals?
- 58:35Speaker 3: So twenty nineteen we built all day festivals started at
- 58:39Speaker 3: twelve o'clock, it went to eleven o'clock at night.
- 58:41Speaker 5: We had so.
- 58:44Speaker 3: Like we was so forward thinking too. Just what even
- 58:46Speaker 3: when you look at the lineup we had back then
- 58:49Speaker 3: in twenty nineteen. The original lineup, some of these artists
- 58:52Speaker 3: ended up not performing based off of things they had on,
- 58:55Speaker 3: things they had going on, but whatever, all the things
- 58:58Speaker 3: they had going on. But the lineup was P and B,
- 59:02Speaker 3: Rock the Baby, and Roddy Rich, NBA Young Boy, Little Dirt,
- 59:07Speaker 3: Young Dolph, Push.
- 59:09Speaker 7: Your t.
- 59:11Speaker 3: Uh, Cowboy, Cowboy, and then maybe Philly artists maybe yeah,
- 59:17Speaker 3: like maybe six seven strong artists. Yeah, so like that
- 59:24Speaker 3: was how we came and that was our first one.
- 59:25Speaker 3: That was how we came out the gate. We end
- 59:27Speaker 3: up losing a few of those artists. Unfortunate, NBA Young
- 59:30Speaker 3: Boy got arrested during that time, so he wasn't able
- 59:32Speaker 3: to perform. Roddy Rich ended up having some type of
- 59:34Speaker 3: crossbooking so he wasn't able to perform, but pretty much.
- 59:38Speaker 2: Dirt, But that's how we grew our relationship with Dirt.
- 59:42Speaker 3: Yeah, we ended up doubling back with Dirt and selling
- 59:44Speaker 3: Mount in September. That was in July, and that kind
- 59:48Speaker 3: of kicked it off, just us being in close communication
- 59:51Speaker 3: with them, but during it, whatever legal trouble he was
- 59:53Speaker 3: having at that time.
- 59:55Speaker 7: This year, Yeah, there's one Philly name that I haven't
- 59:59Speaker 7: heard meet.
- 1:00:02Speaker 2: I mean we tried to We tried, we tried to
- 1:00:04Speaker 2: meet a couple of times. I'm looking right, I mean
- 1:00:13Speaker 2: we tried to me multiple times.
- 1:00:16Speaker 3: I mean usually is the a lot of times when
- 1:00:19Speaker 3: you got it felt like for artists right when you're
- 1:00:21Speaker 3: from Philly, that's the biggest market, so a lot of
- 1:00:25Speaker 3: times that's where you got the most leverage. Act So
- 1:00:28Speaker 3: so do your own show or if you if you
- 1:00:30Speaker 3: got a torn deal, or if you got certain things
- 1:00:33Speaker 3: going on with your label. A lot of times they'll
- 1:00:35Speaker 3: try to hold the Philly show. So I think that's
- 1:00:38Speaker 3: a true answer. I feel like that's why we haven't
- 1:00:40Speaker 3: been able to get a Meek show nor an Uzi
- 1:00:43Speaker 3: show really going because based off of deals that they
- 1:00:47Speaker 3: got just pigeonholes them from working with other promoters a
- 1:00:51Speaker 3: lot of times.
- 1:00:53Speaker 7: But we would love to do it.
- 1:00:54Speaker 5: Love, We would love to do a Meek show. Love
- 1:00:56Speaker 5: to do a Uzzi show, you know.
- 1:00:58Speaker 7: What I would love just like as a like, if
- 1:01:00Speaker 7: you can do it, we can just get like state property. Yeah,
- 1:01:04Speaker 7: like I could to see seagulls yea like.
- 1:01:07Speaker 3: We had we had we had our last show before
- 1:01:11Speaker 3: the pandemic of fab ended up bringing It was fab right,
- 1:01:14Speaker 3: before the pandemic, because that's what's crazy.
- 1:01:16Speaker 5: We talked a lot about FAB.
- 1:01:17Speaker 3: Our company is booked FAB almost every year that we've
- 1:01:19Speaker 3: been in business, just because of the relationship, and FAB
- 1:01:22Speaker 3: ended up bringing out the whole state property.
- 1:01:24Speaker 5: It was legendary. Ain't no shows like dope shows.
- 1:01:29Speaker 4: So what's this what's the scaling model? I think you
- 1:01:31Speaker 4: said possible acquisition, So how do you take this thing
- 1:01:36Speaker 4: to the next level?
- 1:01:39Speaker 2: Like I said, just creating stables, the staples, Like we
- 1:01:43Speaker 2: did the small things, the small events, the small events.
- 1:01:46Speaker 2: But it's like really just building like everybody like knowing,
- 1:01:49Speaker 2: like all right, birthday bashes this time, dope fest is
- 1:01:54Speaker 2: this time in these markets, like really placing that that
- 1:01:58Speaker 2: that muscle memory and By's head every year and they know,
- 1:02:02Speaker 2: like dope shows is coming. Like when I think at
- 1:02:04Speaker 2: this time, I felt like it was time for the
- 1:02:07Speaker 2: dope shows. Whatever it is we're doing. So just building
- 1:02:10Speaker 2: those stables and scaling.
- 1:02:11Speaker 7: It that way.
- 1:02:12Speaker 5: And we got merch, so we about the merchant. Yeah,
- 1:02:14Speaker 5: we got the merch.
- 1:02:18Speaker 7: Merch that's crazy.
- 1:02:21Speaker 4: At the event, yea, at the event, available on.
- 1:02:24Speaker 7: One when you do it at the event, like and
- 1:02:27Speaker 7: that was one of the too, is like they it
- 1:02:29Speaker 7: was like a percentage at the venue try to take
- 1:02:31Speaker 7: Is that truth for you guys to or is it
- 1:02:32Speaker 7: just like that was.
- 1:02:34Speaker 4: The apollo Yeah, yeah, certain venues certas.
- 1:02:40Speaker 5: We always try to get around that. But we definitely
- 1:02:43Speaker 5: want to.
- 1:02:43Speaker 3: Create those staples and then take them to other cities too.
- 1:02:46Speaker 3: Like the vision is not for dope Fest to just
- 1:02:49Speaker 3: live in Philly. The vision is for dope Fest to
- 1:02:51Speaker 3: grow in Philly, to get built up there, but then
- 1:02:54Speaker 3: take that to them, same to other markets. So we're
- 1:02:57Speaker 3: like we talked about Boston, right, Like Boston is somewhere
- 1:02:59Speaker 3: we're we went and it was a hot bid for
- 1:03:01Speaker 3: hip hop.
- 1:03:01Speaker 5: We know we know how to work in Boston. We
- 1:03:04Speaker 5: know how to get a show sold out.
- 1:03:05Speaker 3: So taking that same festival model, like, we want to
- 1:03:08Speaker 3: take dope Fest across the world and.
- 1:03:11Speaker 2: We're gonna build other verticals with it. Uh, this probably
- 1:03:15Speaker 2: breaking news on your leisure. We're doing the label in
- 1:03:20Speaker 2: twenty times. So we're gonna like Philly hasn't had like
- 1:03:25Speaker 2: we had like Philly International back in the day, and
- 1:03:28Speaker 2: then we had like Black Friddayday we had and all
- 1:03:32Speaker 2: that stuff like property, we had a lot, but when
- 1:03:35Speaker 2: we look around Philly is a lot of talent that's
- 1:03:37Speaker 2: not really getting seen around the world. And we're gonna
- 1:03:39Speaker 2: be a label that get artists whoever.
- 1:03:41Speaker 4: But we want to come to the hardest. Who's the
- 1:03:42Speaker 4: hottest artist in Philly right now? I want to come up.
- 1:03:44Speaker 3: I mean there's a lot got Philly got a lot
- 1:03:47Speaker 3: of artists. The two that we made this on the show,
- 1:03:49Speaker 3: which is Young Kay Little Move they.
- 1:03:52Speaker 5: Super on Fire Tours.
- 1:03:55Speaker 3: Artist is from West Philly super on Fire. Least War
- 1:03:58Speaker 3: artists in West Philly, super on Fire.
- 1:04:00Speaker 2: It's a lot of it's a lot of young guys
- 1:04:02Speaker 2: in Philly's cooking up right now. And the biggest thing
- 1:04:06Speaker 2: is like we want to provide because we see these
- 1:04:08Speaker 2: artists like we see like a Dirt and it's like
- 1:04:10Speaker 2: he's from Chicago drill scene.
- 1:04:12Speaker 7: It's crazy there.
- 1:04:13Speaker 2: But it's like when Dirt come into town, he got
- 1:04:15Speaker 2: twenty people, thirty people that he employed. Has got roles
- 1:04:18Speaker 2: as I'm a production manager, I'm this manager. I'm a
- 1:04:21Speaker 2: guy to go get whatever Dirt need. And it's like
- 1:04:24Speaker 2: you have to create those verticals to be able to
- 1:04:26Speaker 2: like get these kids out of the environment that they
- 1:04:28Speaker 2: in and they have talent, and it's like you're creating
- 1:04:31Speaker 2: a business model. They fortune five hundred companies these artists,
- 1:04:34Speaker 2: like you got artists that's creating one hundred million dollars
- 1:04:38Speaker 2: a year and revenue and they making money and they
- 1:04:42Speaker 2: putting people to work. So I feel like really just
- 1:04:45Speaker 2: creating that to whereas though we're giving people from our
- 1:04:47Speaker 2: city and any city opportunity to break as an artist
- 1:04:51Speaker 2: and really push push the agenda forward. And we know
- 1:04:54Speaker 2: to show stuff. We could book any venue across the
- 1:04:57Speaker 2: across the United States. That's a lot of nation or
- 1:05:00Speaker 2: like things that we or wherever we got access, we
- 1:05:03Speaker 2: got access to a lot of venues. So just really
- 1:05:05Speaker 2: teaching them the tour building the tour, building it slow
- 1:05:08Speaker 2: and low, doing like all right, you feel like you
- 1:05:11Speaker 2: could do a thousand people, do five hundred and sell
- 1:05:14Speaker 2: that out and give people an experience and let them know, like, man,
- 1:05:18Speaker 2: that's a real show when I go there. That's why
- 1:05:20Speaker 2: Drake got fans like you got Kendrick Lamar because when
- 1:05:23Speaker 2: you go see them guys perform, they give you a show,
- 1:05:26Speaker 2: They give you what you came for. So it's like
- 1:05:28Speaker 2: really teaching the artists that, not just making it like
- 1:05:31Speaker 2: base Bly when I'm going on the stage and I'm
- 1:05:33Speaker 2: taking a hundred of my homies, like really giving them something.
- 1:05:36Speaker 2: So we want to bring that to Obviously we're already
- 1:05:39Speaker 2: doing that with Dope shows. We wanted to bring it.
- 1:05:40Speaker 2: We want to bring it to a record label and
- 1:05:42Speaker 2: really try to put on breaking.
- 1:05:44Speaker 4: What about COVID, How has that affected you? How do
- 1:05:48Speaker 4: you think that will affect the live events space moving forward?
- 1:05:53Speaker 2: Obviously affected us because we were shut down for what
- 1:05:56Speaker 2: fifteen sixteen months? Yeah, it killed us for that time,
- 1:06:00Speaker 2: but we just used it to strategize and build and
- 1:06:03Speaker 2: really be ready when it Like when we came out
- 1:06:08Speaker 2: of the we had sent Dirt the money for the
- 1:06:10Speaker 2: biggest show we had had. He had had like probably
- 1:06:14Speaker 2: nine months before, like, so we was just playing it
- 1:06:16Speaker 2: and strategizing it ahead and we sent them the money
- 1:06:19Speaker 2: and when we came out, we had a crazy show.
- 1:06:21Speaker 5: So it's just really just yeah, no, I mean it was.
- 1:06:25Speaker 3: It was tough for us, but it also was I
- 1:06:28Speaker 3: would say it was the first time since we've been
- 1:06:30Speaker 3: in business that we've had that amount of time to
- 1:06:33Speaker 3: sit down and really look at the business and look
- 1:06:35Speaker 3: at all the areas that we were successful and was
- 1:06:37Speaker 3: making money all the areas where we was leaving money
- 1:06:40Speaker 3: on the table too. So we talked about merch. Being honest,
- 1:06:43Speaker 3: we did. We've been doing merch since we started, but
- 1:06:46Speaker 3: never at the capacity we're doing merch now. Like we was,
- 1:06:49Speaker 3: we wasn't really taking the merch series. We was more
- 1:06:51Speaker 3: like worrying about just selling the shows out. Where now
- 1:06:54Speaker 3: we positioned ourselves where we got a true merch business.
- 1:06:57Speaker 5: The merchan is available online.
- 1:06:58Speaker 3: We got a set up at the shows now, not
- 1:07:01Speaker 3: just like a table where we just got hoodies laying
- 1:07:04Speaker 3: out on them. We just put a lot of thought
- 1:07:06Speaker 3: into just every avenue of the business. January sixteenth, we
- 1:07:09Speaker 3: have a showcase where we allow local artists to come
- 1:07:13Speaker 3: on the showcase and perform, and then two artists from
- 1:07:16Speaker 3: that showcase could win.
- 1:07:17Speaker 5: A spot on the World as far Ago.
- 1:07:18Speaker 3: So whereas like you could win the opportunity to open
- 1:07:21Speaker 3: up on the same stage as Little Baby, Little Dirt,
- 1:07:24Speaker 3: Gunna g Herbo in front of twenty thousand people, just
- 1:07:27Speaker 3: from you positioning yourself on the showcase. That was something
- 1:07:30Speaker 3: that we knew that we talked about before the pandemic,
- 1:07:33Speaker 3: but we just didn't really set it up and put
- 1:07:35Speaker 3: that make that a part of our infrastructure.
- 1:07:37Speaker 5: As a business.
- 1:07:38Speaker 3: And now we was able to so where we had
- 1:07:40Speaker 3: local artists always hitting us up, always asking us for opportunities.
- 1:07:44Speaker 3: Now and it's like we was able to really create
- 1:07:46Speaker 3: a platform in a business where we can do that.
- 1:07:48Speaker 3: So got industry A and the artists coming down for that.
- 1:07:51Speaker 3: We got Little Dirk's drummers going to be on the
- 1:07:54Speaker 3: on that, We got DJs, so it's really an opportunity
- 1:07:58Speaker 3: for artists and Philly tron State area to really come
- 1:08:01Speaker 3: down and showcase.
- 1:08:03Speaker 7: Obviously it's YouTube, but you've had to build out a team.
- 1:08:06Speaker 7: How many people are part of the Dope Shows team?
- 1:08:08Speaker 7: And like you said, like fifteen months of a long time.
- 1:08:10Speaker 7: So during this time that we haven't team meetings of
- 1:08:12Speaker 7: like how we generate income. More of the ideas that
- 1:08:14Speaker 7: are coming from you guys at the top. It's like
- 1:08:17Speaker 7: we know, like listen, you're the owners, but you got employees. Yeah, yeah, first,
- 1:08:21Speaker 7: so like what would you guys do?
- 1:08:23Speaker 3: So employees wise, we got around ten employees, I would say,
- 1:08:26Speaker 3: but it's usually on like a they usually work for
- 1:08:29Speaker 3: the event more so like it's like we got a
- 1:08:32Speaker 3: stage manager, but we ain't on stage, is not we
- 1:08:34Speaker 3: not necessarily paying the stage manager. So Steph and I
- 1:08:37Speaker 3: would we would meet daily during the pandemic those fifteen
- 1:08:41Speaker 3: sixteen months. We were still meeting every day like our
- 1:08:44Speaker 3: typical work schedule to come up with ideas and playing
- 1:08:48Speaker 3: and we would bounce things off people from the team.
- 1:08:50Speaker 3: But during that time, it was we was really isolated
- 1:08:53Speaker 3: because it wasn't no shows happening, Like a lot of
- 1:08:57Speaker 3: people that's a part of the team is just tied
- 1:08:59Speaker 3: to areas that we would need for the actual show.
- 1:09:03Speaker 3: So it was just more so us locked in on
- 1:09:05Speaker 3: the planning side and just really had to the weather
- 1:09:08Speaker 3: the storm or like we don't know when it's gonna
- 1:09:10Speaker 3: come back, like Stepth mentioned it, but like that was
- 1:09:13Speaker 3: crazy during the pandemic. We had We went into the
- 1:09:15Speaker 3: pandemic with four or five artists booked already, like already
- 1:09:18Speaker 3: booked already, pig because we was planning for Dope Fest
- 1:09:21Speaker 3: twenty twenty and in the middle of the pandemic, on
- 1:09:24Speaker 3: top of having five front ends already out and having
- 1:09:28Speaker 3: one or two venues already booked, so you don't know
- 1:09:30Speaker 3: when you're gonna get that money back. We then sent
- 1:09:33Speaker 3: dirt more month like we was then sent more money out,
- 1:09:36Speaker 3: still not knowing when we was gonna be able to
- 1:09:38Speaker 3: get that show off. So it was like being able
- 1:09:41Speaker 3: to plan knowing like the sun gonna shine again one day,
- 1:09:44Speaker 3: like one day we'll be able to do this again.
- 1:09:47Speaker 3: But we wasn't making no money honestly, and we were
- 1:09:50Speaker 3: still actually putting money out, but still just investing in
- 1:09:53Speaker 3: the dream.
- 1:09:54Speaker 4: Ah nah, I appreciate you, brothers man. So what would
- 1:09:56Speaker 4: you like to tell people? How can they follow you?
- 1:09:57Speaker 4: How can they get tickets to the show coming up? Yeah,
- 1:10:01Speaker 4: all of the information you.
