Transcript
- 0:06Hello, What's your least favorite scary movie?
- 0:10This is all really, really interesting, John, but right now
- 0:12I'd really like for you to talk to me.
- 0:15Welcome to watch Your Least Nervous Scary Movie, the podcast
- 0:17where we talk about the good, the bad, the ugly, and the
- 0:20absurd, and all of our favorite and least favorite scary movies.
- 0:23Because we believe every horror movie rightfully has its fan
- 0:25base. Even if we don't always get it.
- 0:27My name is Travis. My name is Jesse and today we
- 0:30have an extra special guest. We have Steve from The Decision.
- 0:34Real welcome back, Steve. What's up guys?
- 0:37Thanks for having me on the the podcast again.
- 0:40Always good for. Joining us, yeah.
- 0:42Here, this has been what, like the 17th time I've been on it?
- 0:45Approximately, you are the most frequent guess, that is for
- 0:48sure. Yeah, and we're bringing you on
- 0:50for like the second entry of our second of the second 'cause you
- 0:54were on screen too last time. So now you're on.
- 0:57I guess this is the thing. Just next time you do a sequel,
- 0:59just give me a call. I'll be the sequel guy.
- 1:01Sequel, Steve I like. So with that being said, I have
- 1:05no announcements. Travis, do you have poll results
- 1:08for us? I got poll results, so we talked
- 1:11about IT 1990 last week and we asked everybody which nightmare
- 1:17Pennywise form are you? So the options are the teenage
- 1:22werewolf, Jillian's Island Spider, because I spelled
- 1:25Gilligan wrong. How absolutely dare you old
- 1:30ladies sipping bloody and binstead.
- 1:32So on Twitter, 20% are the werewolf, 40% are Jillian's
- 1:37Spider, 20% are old ladies sipping bloody, 20% are
- 1:42Binstead, and on Instagram, 36 teenage werewolf, 43% old lady
- 1:48sipping blood tea, 21% Ben stat. It's supposed to be slurping,
- 1:52slurping. So, well, you just.
- 1:54I had my character. I had my character limit.
- 1:56Yeah. If you could type sipping, you
- 1:58could type slurping. Same number of letters.
- 2:01OK. Yeah, you're right.
- 2:02Warping. Yeah.
- 2:04OK. Yeah.
- 2:05Well, OK. So out of all of those, I think
- 2:08I'd, uh, I'd be Ben stat. Maybe Ben's dad?
- 2:11Yeah, just standing out in like the field holding balloons since
- 2:14while we turning into a clown. I'm definitely Mrs. Marsh, just
- 2:18goblin down that T while maintaining eye contact and
- 2:22like, becoming a deceased looking woman the entire time.
- 2:26Well, I'm already there. Yeah.
- 2:29Steve, you don't have to answer, but if you're familiar with the
- 2:321998, do you remember those transformations?
- 2:35Man, it's been a long time since I've.
- 2:38Decided to sit down for four hours and watch the original it.
- 2:42Hey, 3 hours and 12 minutes. Sorry I exaggerated 3 hours.
- 2:48The only thing I really remember obviously is Tim Curry just
- 2:51killing it and then a couple scenes where people are over
- 2:56acting so bad that it's so good. So what was the choices again?
- 2:59I'll just pick one. I don't care.
- 3:01Teenage werewolf, the giant spider, the old lady sipping the
- 3:05blood tea, or Ben's dad swerping Okay, Ben's dad when he's out
- 3:09there in the field and he's like slowly turning into a clown
- 3:12while holding balloons. I do remember that, but I'm
- 3:15gonna have to go with turning into a teenage werewolf because
- 3:18my guy Michael J. Fox was a teenage werewolf, so
- 3:22I'm just gonna go with that. All right?
- 3:24Cool. Cool deal.
- 3:25All right, that's our pulse. Okay.
- 3:26All right, so let's talk about saw too.
- 3:28Let us talk about saw two. All righty.
- 3:31Okay So Saw Two was released October 28th, 2005.
- 3:35Because if it's Halloween, it's Saw.
- 3:38We watched it on our DVD, but it's also currently available to
- 3:41stream. Just about anywhere.
- 3:43It's on Peacock Stars Prime, YouTube Premium, YouTube TV
- 3:47Prime, Time, Hulu Premium, or Sling TV Premium.
- 3:51You could also rent it from Google Play, Red Box, or Voodoo.
- 3:54And I believe that Walmart and Target have their Halloween
- 3:57collections out now, so you could also just go get a box set
- 4:00of all of the current Saw movies.
- 4:04Relatively cheap. Super cheap, Yeah.
- 4:06You can get the blue rays online.
- 4:07Pretty cheap too. I wanna, I wanna say something
- 4:10before we get too deep into this.
- 4:11If you don't mind, I'm gonna cut you off.
- 4:13Why is it that the Saw movies are released during Halloween or
- 4:17before Halloween, but every other horror movie is like in
- 4:21February or March, like Every Evil Dead has come out in April?
- 4:25Like I don't understand. I think because Saw actually had
- 4:31like a really big like like box office numbers that they felt
- 4:35confident putting it there. Meanwhile, those other ones are
- 4:38kind of like in the front loaded seasons or like months, because
- 4:41that's where it won't maybe have as much competition with other.
- 4:46Scary logic. You're bringing logic here and I
- 4:48like it, but at the same time. But I'd also argue that we had a
- 4:52lot of horror releases last October.
- 4:56I mean, I feel like we get a lot of horror releases in October,
- 4:59but they're just generally the bigger names associated with
- 5:01them. You're right.
- 5:03So like screams always in the winter usually.
- 5:06Like here lately January and February, even Halloween, some
- 5:10of those are coming out, not exactly around Halloween time.
- 5:13Like we've had many of those. Called Halloween, like Jesus.
- 5:16They're coming out in like May or April or something like that.
- 5:18Yeah, it doesn't make any sense. I'm not bothered by it.
- 5:21I'd rather have horror movies all year round.
- 5:24I mean, yeah, OK, I'm. I like that too.
- 5:26But I just think in my brain. Horror movie, Halloween time.
- 5:30At least around there. September.
- 5:33You know October time frame. I will tell you though, there is
- 5:37a Saw movie that came out in May that is Spiral.
- 5:39Yeah, Written by Lee Wannell and Darren Lynn Boseman Directed by
- 5:43Darren Lynn Boseman. Music by Charlie Klauser and the
- 5:46special effects makeup artist on IMDBS.
- 5:49Credit is Neil Morrell with the prosthetics coordinator credited
- 5:54as Francois Desinet. Starring Donnie Wahlberg as
- 5:57Detective Eric Matthews, Tobin Bell is Jigsaw Slash John
- 6:01Kramer. Shawnee Smith is Amanda Eric
- 6:04Nedson as Daniel Matthews, Frankie G as Xavier Beverly
- 6:09Mitchell as Laura Glenn Plummer as Jonas, Emmanuelle Vizier as
- 6:15Addison, Timothy Byrd as Abby Dena Meyer as Detective Ker, and
- 6:20Lyric Bent as Detective Rig. All right.
- 6:24Time for our favorite game, budget or budgeted.
- 6:30All right. So Steve, we'll let you guess.
- 6:331st is it budget so 10 million and above or bucked at 10
- 6:36million and or 19 below 10 million?
- 6:39Below 10 million. There you go.
- 6:40I'm gonna get this. Yeah, this is a hard one for me,
- 6:43right? Because the first one obviously
- 6:45was. Very like small budget.
- 6:47And then it blew up and became what it did.
- 6:50So if this is the direct sequel, which was how many like the
- 6:53following year? Following year, I feel like they
- 6:57would have went, all right, let's put a little bit more
- 6:59behind it, let's make it a bigger movie, which they did.
- 7:02They put a lot more people in it and more, how do I say set
- 7:06dressing? I'm going to say it's more than
- 7:1010. It's got to be.
- 7:12You know what I think I was? No, I was shocked at how cheap
- 7:17it was last time. Or maybe I was more shocked at
- 7:19how expensive it was. I think I'm gonna go with him.
- 7:22I think I'm gonna go budget. Okay.
- 7:24Well it is more of a budget than part one was, but it still falls
- 7:29under our bug Ted category. It has a. 4 million Four million
- 7:35dance What? It's a lot more expensive than
- 7:38the first one was. You think like they considered
- 7:41Mark Wahlberg, but they're like, no, too expensive.
- 7:43Let's get Donnie. No, they probably considered
- 7:46Mark Wahlberg and said, oh, he might actually beat up Tobin
- 7:49Bell. Yeah, it could be it, yeah.
- 7:52Yeah. And also, I mean, Mark Wahlberg
- 7:54would have said $4 million just for me.
- 7:57No, no. That's the budget.
- 7:59Bye. Here's my brother.
- 8:01Hey, what's up man? All right, opening box office of
- 8:0331.7 million and a worldwide gross of 147 million.
- 8:08Currently standing at 6.6 out of 10 on IMDb.
- 8:12Solid all around. That's crazy.
- 8:14So I picked 3 movies from 2005 that all have the distinction of
- 8:18being considered. Fairly graphic, OK, from, you
- 8:23know, most most audience and critics standpoints.
- 8:25Would we say that the trend for torture porn had already started
- 8:28at this point? This was about where it was OK,
- 8:32you know, Saw and Hostile were the ones that kind of kicked
- 8:35that off. And actually the first one on my
- 8:37list is Hostile OK, which premiered at the Toronto
- 8:39International Film Festival on September 17th, 2005.
- 8:43It had a budget of 4.8 million and a worldwide gross of 81.9
- 8:47million. And currently sits with a 5.9
- 8:50out of 10 on IMDb, so almost the same budget too.
- 8:55Almost the same budget, impressive, less of a gross and
- 8:58less of a fan score. I know people shit on this all
- 9:02the time, but I love those movies.
- 9:04Yeah, I don't have a I honestly prefer Hostile to SAW kind of as
- 9:10much as I do like the soft franchise it is played out in.
- 9:15It's the same movie every time with a different twist because
- 9:17they have to. But you know, there's only what
- 9:193 Hostel do they make? No, they didn't.
- 9:21They're really three. The second one wasn't that bad
- 9:24either. The.
- 9:25Second one I I think is arguably better than the 1st.
- 9:30Yeah, you know what I agree with?
- 9:31There's more, there's more story there, there's more stuff that
- 9:34happens and it's obviously better with the bigger budget.
- 9:36But if you're comparing the first Saw to the first Hostel,
- 9:40movie wise Saw is. Better.
- 9:43But I enjoy watching Hostel. More like replayability kind of
- 9:47thing. Like if you put both of them in
- 9:48front of me, I'll be like I wanna watch Hostel.
- 9:51The problem for me with Hostel is the 1st 45 minutes is
- 9:53basically softcore porn, sometimes hardcore.
- 9:58So I could do without the first half of the movie, and if I feel
- 10:01like I can just ignore half of the movie, I don't know how much
- 10:04I really. I'm trying to remember.
- 10:06I don't remember there being that much graphic nudity in
- 10:09there. I know there's like some.
- 10:11Steve titties galore. It's followed with some boobies.
- 10:15Some book here. Many boobies.
- 10:17I can't complain about that right now.
- 10:20If it's if it's gratuitous to the plot or if it's just there,
- 10:23there's a difference, right? I feel like that movie, it's,
- 10:26it's to the plot because you're going into Europe and they're
- 10:30trying to convince these guys like, hey, you can party with
- 10:32us, you know, try to. Fuck everybody, right?
- 10:34That's what I'm saying. So it does make a little sense,
- 10:36is it? Again, I haven't seen hostile,
- 10:38you know, in a minute. No, That's before they hook up
- 10:40with the hostile girls, though. No, the whole thing is like
- 10:44they're driven by sex, so once. The Sky Wars.
- 10:46And it was sex. It's like, OK, there we go,
- 10:49yeah. But I feel like you can make
- 10:51that point without as much as they did probably, but.
- 10:55I just don't think it was told in the most like engaging
- 10:58storytelling method. You are Rath gonna titty.
- 11:02All right. Second nutty.
- 11:04Yeah. Devil's Rejects.
- 11:07Ooh, OK Yep, That one is pretty brutal at times.
- 11:11That's true. That one also has a lot of
- 11:12gratuitous nudity. Yes, Released July 22nd, 2005.
- 11:19Budget of 7 million? Whoa.
- 11:22And a worldwide gross of 20.9 million Goddamn.
- 11:25Currently sitting on IMDb with a 6.7 out of 10.
- 11:29They really trusted him. After House of 1000 Corpses are
- 11:32like you've made one movie, you've got this.
- 11:35Yeah, they're like one condition.
- 11:36Please give Bill Mosley a slightly better wig, Yeah.
- 11:42Can we please just? Ignore Otis being mostly bald at
- 11:46the top of his head. It's like, all right, but I
- 11:49gotta have my wife. OK, yeah, I I'm fine with it.
- 11:52I'm fine with Shane Moon being and everything he does.
- 11:54I'm OK with it. OK, third movie, Wolf Creek.
- 11:59Ooh, oh, what? I haven't thought of that movie
- 12:02in forever. That's the Australian one,
- 12:05right? OK.
- 12:06Yeah. That released Christmas Day
- 12:102005. Merry Christmas, yeah.
- 12:13A budget of 1,000,000 and a worldwide gross of 30.8 million.
- 12:18I love that movie. John Jarrett Man, what a creep.
- 12:22He's creepy. Yeah, he does a really good job
- 12:25in the second one and does a really good job in the series.
- 12:27Have you seen the the second one Steve?
- 12:30I'm trying to remember. I know, I know.
- 12:32I've seen the first one. The second one, I know what the
- 12:34cover looks like, but I don't know if I've ever seen it.
- 12:37It's a pretty solid sequel, honestly, especially with it
- 12:40being so far after the first one released.
- 12:42The second one said Y'all wanted violence.
- 12:47Yeah, that currently has a 6.2 out of 10 on IMDb.
- 12:51Nice. All right.
- 12:54I've got taglines. Yeah, you were very excited to
- 12:57share these after yesterday. You were, well, one in
- 12:59particular that had me, like, actually snort out loud.
- 13:03Yeah. OK.
- 13:05The one on the poster, the one most everybody knows is, Oh yes,
- 13:08there will be blood. Ah, yeah, he says that too.
- 13:12Second one, we dare you again. Dot dot dot we dare you, we dare
- 13:17you to saw again. No, we just dare you again.
- 13:20We dare you, OK? Yep, new game, different pieces.
- 13:24OK. I think that's the solid one,
- 13:26that one. Like that?
- 13:28Yeah, that's Spiel. Get the Vitor.
- 13:31That's the German tagline. It means the game continues.
- 13:38And my favorite tagline? Just when you thought it was
- 13:42safe to go back in the torture dungeon, What's?
- 13:47It's a play on the Jaws 2 tagline.
- 13:50It's such a stupid what's the dos?
- 13:52Tagline. Just when you thought it was
- 13:53safe to go back in the water. Oh wow.
- 13:57OK. I love it.
- 13:58That's the kind of dumb tagline we would come up with.
- 14:01Yeah. I love it.
- 14:03That's pretty good. OK, I got a lot of facts, OK?
- 14:08First of all, because we watched this on our own DVD.
- 14:10There is an In Memoriam Greg Hoffman on the DVD menu.
- 14:14Greg Hoffman, one of the producers, one of the original
- 14:17founders of Twisted Pictures. Sadly passed away unexpectedly
- 14:21December 4th, 2005, while Nell and Juan were busy with their
- 14:26next project. So after Salt, who was greenlit,
- 14:29they were unavailable to direct. They were actually working on
- 14:32Dead Silence. Oh dude.
- 14:35I love dead silence. At the same time, Darren Lynn
- 14:38Buzzman was trying to get his script sold for something called
- 14:42The Desperate. He was having trouble getting it
- 14:44sold because a lot of companies were saying that it was too
- 14:47similar to saw. Which was kind of bumming him
- 14:49out. Finally, a German studio decided
- 14:52to pick up on it. They were in the search for a
- 14:55cinematographer when Greg Hoffman stumbled upon the
- 14:59script, and one is use it as a jumping point for Saul too.
- 15:04I like that. He's also like, damn, this looks
- 15:06like a. So they actually pulled Darren
- 15:10Limboseman in to. Direct it.
- 15:13And while Nell was available for script rewrites to kind of merge
- 15:17it into a Saw movie, Wow, so this didn't start with 1L.
- 15:21This is like built off of a whole other movie entirely.
- 15:24Yeah, which is why a lot of people like Bozeman as like part
- 15:29of the core of those all franchise.
- 15:31Interesting, Yeah, can't beat them.
- 15:32Join them. Most of the cast and crew only
- 15:36received 88 pages of the script because they didn't want the
- 15:39twist to get out. The only key members received
- 15:43the ending anytime there were rewrites, the original copies
- 15:46were all shredded and all of the cast members had to sign
- 15:50intiality agreement. Supposedly there were four to
- 15:53five alternate endings shot. I don't remember if we had any
- 15:56on our DVD or not. We didn't get a chance to go
- 15:58through all of the special features just because it's been
- 16:00a busy weekend. Yeah, I have a feeling Kevin
- 16:02Williamson must have been a consultant.
- 16:05He's like guys, guys, trust me, your twist gets out.
- 16:08Everything's ruined. Suddenly you've set the
- 16:11boyfriend up, is a terrible person, and he just gets killed
- 16:14for no reason. Yeah, they're not gonna expect
- 16:16the boyfriend again. And then they find out it's
- 16:18like, ah shit, OK. Darren Lynn Boseman, I don't
- 16:22know why I keep saying his full name.
- 16:24He was very open to the cast members like ad libbing and
- 16:30changing the dialogue as they saw fit for their characters,
- 16:32which ended up being a good call because a lot of the dialogue.
- 16:36Between Donnie Wahlberg and Tobin Bell, they adjusted it to
- 16:40make the relationship seem a little bit more dynamic because
- 16:43before it was just very aggressive and hostile to one
- 16:45another. So we get a little bit more of
- 16:48that that play and the different levels of interaction between
- 16:51them because they were able to tweak it, he said.
- 16:54Overall, about 5% of the dialogue ended up being ad
- 16:56libbed by the actors. They also decided that they were
- 17:00going to do. The on screen desks like allow
- 17:04them to unfold as they happened instead of seeing everything
- 17:07happen in flashbacks like what happened in the first movie.
- 17:10And that was based off of a lot of feed fan feedback they got.
- 17:13And this is from an interview with Bozeman and Fangoria.
- 17:16That's one of my favorite changes in this movie.
- 17:18Bozeman actually has a cameo. He is the hooded figure at the
- 17:21beginning of the movie, inserting the key behind
- 17:24Michael's eye. And a lot of fans thought that
- 17:28it was Lawrence Gordon, and he was like, I never intended for
- 17:31that to be it. But as we know, based off of Saw
- 17:343D or Saw 7, whichever way you want to refer to it, that ends
- 17:40up being the case. That's funny.
- 17:43Spoilers. No, this whole franchise is
- 17:47gonna be spoiler, I think, for us.
- 17:49Except for whenever the new one comes out.
- 17:51Yeah, we blew it wide open in the episode.
- 17:53One. Yeah.
- 17:53Episode one, we were already referencing like up through saw
- 17:56Six, I think. Yeah.
- 17:58So next. And then my final fun fact I
- 18:01actually really like. I think it's cute.
- 18:04Eric Knudsen, This is his first major feature film role, and he
- 18:09said that Saw and Scream are his favorite franchises.
- 18:13And as you all know, as you may remember, he's Robbie Mercer in
- 18:17Scream 4 Hot Pass with Robbie Mercer.
- 18:20Yeah. So good for him.
- 18:22Good for Eric Knudsen. Wait, is are they his favorites
- 18:26because he's in them? Or were they his favorites and
- 18:28then he became like an actor in them?
- 18:30I don't know. I think he's playing favorites.
- 18:32But no, he no. It was written this one already.
- 18:35Like Saul was listed as one of his favorites because he
- 18:38auditioned extra hard for the role.
- 18:39Like he really wanted to be in it.
- 18:41OK, OK. So.
- 18:43And all the first three screen movies would have already been
- 18:45out by the time he auditioned for this too.
- 18:47So probably should have worn them that, yeah, You're also
- 18:49gonna have to act with Donnie Wahlberg.
- 18:52It's gonna get. Really loud in your.
- 18:54Face little Wahlberg. Hope that's cool.
- 18:56All right, so those are my fun facts.
- 19:00And I guess we're ready to go into how we feel about this
- 19:03movie. So we'll start off with the good
- 19:07Steve, what are the things you like about this movie?
- 19:09I mean off the bat. I mean the movie.
- 19:12Is is a very brisk runtime. I really like how it's like, it
- 19:16doesn't it doesn't go. All right.
- 19:18Well, we got to set the stakes and we got to talk about this
- 19:21for a bit. No, it's like, fuck this.
- 19:22We're right in the first, like opening scene obviously is the
- 19:26dude is just like, hey, you want to get this key to fucking
- 19:28unlock this mask. It's going to destroy you.
- 19:30The front and back of your head. It's behind your eyeball.
- 19:33Awesome. And of course we know he can't
- 19:37hook and do it. And obviously he did.
- 19:39And then I do. Like how?
- 19:42When Donnie Wahlberg gets in there, and then there's the
- 19:44Jigsaw piece and he's just like not believing it and like, OK,
- 19:46who fucking did this? Like, #1 what cop In what
- 19:51precinct would carve that into somebody to make a joke on
- 19:55another fucking cop, right? Like, is that a little?
- 19:59A little. Also, OK, we'll get into that
- 20:03later anyways, so good thing brisk pace.
- 20:06Really liked it. I liked some of the kills
- 20:09definitely being. Different or new?
- 20:11And I think this kind of sets up for what's to come from the
- 20:14series because obviously in the first movie you only have so
- 20:17much there. I like the fact that Obie or
- 20:21Abby, whatever you want to say, he's part of the game, even
- 20:24though he helped set up the game, which again foreshadowing
- 20:28to other movies in the series. So like, no one's safe, doesn't
- 20:31matter who's who. I The biggest thing I like about
- 20:35this movie, in which they kind of just said, Nah was at the
- 20:39end, who is Jigsaw, right? You're they're setting it up for
- 20:43Amanda, right? Yeah, I want to always say her
- 20:47real name for some reason. Anyways, they're setting it up
- 20:48for Amanda. Shawnee Smith as a treasure,
- 20:52right? That's why you want to say her
- 20:53real name, right? You're absolutely right.
- 20:56But knowing that she's watching this movie back and knowing that
- 21:00she's in on it the whole time, it changes the way the movie
- 21:03kind of works. Like she is protecting the kid
- 21:06even before she's, you know, the the picture is shown that that's
- 21:10his dad. She's also pushing them to go in
- 21:14different places or do different things or looking in certain
- 21:17areas to make sure people see things.
- 21:18Like in the background, there's a couple things she does where
- 21:20you're like, all right, it all makes sense.
- 21:23She's the one that is making sure this game happens because
- 21:27it has to work in a specific way.
- 21:29Like there's certain things that need to happen for them to go
- 21:31through and do things. Like #1 getting out of the first
- 21:34room. I mean, you know how beyond the
- 21:37timer that's there to open it? They still need to find things
- 21:40and work together. The only thing that didn't make
- 21:42sense to me was you would find something over the rainbow.
- 21:45What did that come to? I don't know.
- 21:46If I So all of the numbers on the back of their head were in
- 21:50different colors so you would have had to do it.
- 21:53Roy G Biv. Oh Oh my God, I didn't even
- 21:57think of that. Cuz you're right.
- 21:59I kept thinking, looking at it like they're all in different
- 22:01colors. And obviously I was like the
- 22:03African American gentleman. It's white Jonas.
- 22:06Yes, thank you. It's white cuz you would have to
- 22:09be able to see what's on the back of his neck.
- 22:12But beyond that, I never really put it together good.
- 22:15I'm dumb. Did.
- 22:16You put that together yourself? Yeah.
- 22:18What the fuck dude? I'm a smart cookie, I don't know
- 22:21what to tell you. You didn't marry me just from my
- 22:23looks. I am so stupid.
- 22:24These movies like go all over my head.
- 22:27Also, if there's ever a situation where there's a serial
- 22:31killer on the loose and we need to find something out, I'm
- 22:33calling you. Or blaming you.
- 22:36Oh, no. Yeah.
- 22:37You're the one that thinks of these traps, yeah?
- 22:43All right, Travis. I think that they found a good
- 22:48way to give us Jigsaw exposition in this movie.
- 22:50I like the whole thing of him being a part of like a separate
- 22:55game with Matthews, And his whole thing is having that like
- 23:00sit there and talk to him. And then that is how we get to
- 23:02explore Jigsaw, because he's really just telling him his
- 23:06whole. Still and like you could maybe
- 23:09see this like being forced, but like that is his game.
- 23:12It ties into the movie. Well, and what I think is great
- 23:15about that is that that's actually Amanda's game.
- 23:18Amanda came up with that because she knows that Matthews has an
- 23:21anger problem and he will do whatever he can to frame
- 23:24something. Because the whole thing is this
- 23:26isn't actually jigsaws game, This is Amanda's game.
- 23:30She set all of this up, but she knew that Matthews wouldn't be
- 23:33able to resist the bait and want to like.
- 23:35Beat the shit out of this person that he just want like easy
- 23:39target. We're gonna frame you, we're
- 23:40gonna pin this all on you. Who gives a shit about the
- 23:42evidence? Like it's such a good.
- 23:45It's such a good setup. Or it could be.
- 23:47I've been working with this man for years now.
- 23:50You're like, it's a test for anybody to sit with him for two
- 23:53hours while he just, like, tells you about his shit.
- 23:56There was one point where they cut back to him talking and he
- 23:58was saying something that had nothing to do with anything.
- 24:02And I'm like, what? I would be fucking mad too?
- 24:04Like, yo, get to the fucking point, bro.
- 24:06But again, that's the whole point.
- 24:08Yeah, he. I mean, also, Tobin Bell looks
- 24:11really old for his age. I think here he's in his 50s,
- 24:14but like, he kind of looks like the type of dude.
- 24:17He's like the old senile person that just kind of like rambles
- 24:19about random shit that you don't care about.
- 24:22Oh, you know, he was a pretentious asshole in his 20s
- 24:25too, though. Yeah, probably.
- 24:27But like, he's that guy that, like, you accidentally run into,
- 24:31like at a cocktail party or something.
- 24:33And you're like, please get me away from conversation with this
- 24:36guy. Yeah, yeah, Wanna be nice.
- 24:38Need you to stay there and listen to him for three hours.
- 24:41Yeah. And you don't even get your son
- 24:43out of the exchange like you're just you just wasted 3 hours
- 24:46talking to this guy for no reason.
- 24:47Can you imagine though, if he actually won that and like, all
- 24:50of a sudden the safe opens and it's like his son's there?
- 24:52That would be so fucking awkward.
- 24:54Be like, Oh yeah, by the way, I've had your son here this
- 24:56whole time that you know what, now that you you said that like,
- 25:00OK, So what happens then? He gets arrested, I guess.
- 25:04Yeah, I guess. I guess your son's safe this
- 25:06whole time. What do you mean he's in a safe?
- 25:08Ah fuck yeah. They're so on the nose with like
- 25:12the hints that they give like that he's in a safe place.
- 25:15The numbers are in the back of your mind and it's like he's
- 25:18like very much telling your mind there was on the back of their
- 25:21neck. So that's that's not right.
- 25:22Yeah. Come on, Amanda should have been
- 25:24on the back of their heads. Not, yeah.
- 25:28More good. I think that they have a lot
- 25:29more fun with the traps in this movie and it's kind of like you.
- 25:32We get to see it happen in real time rather than flashbacks.
- 25:35I like to see the characters that we're following go through
- 25:39this rather than people that we don't follow.
- 25:42Like in the first movie. Yeah, I feel like it just gives
- 25:46it a little bit more impact. And I think that they did a very
- 25:51good followup twist because the original movie had one of the
- 25:54best twists and. How you follow that up, That's
- 25:57tough. It's a tough task, but I think
- 26:00that they actually did a pretty good job with it.
- 26:02Yeah, I'm gonna build up on both of your alls points for the
- 26:05good. I think that this, this being a
- 26:07second setup and it being Amanda's game, I like that we've
- 26:12got both Abby, Ian, Amanda are involved in it.
- 26:15So Abby was the one that wedding kidnapped people and oh, boom,
- 26:18he's he's in the game too. And then Amanda is a part of the
- 26:22game. Just the same way that.
- 26:24John was in the first one, A. Little bit more involved.
- 26:27A little bit, yeah. Definitely a lot more involved.
- 26:29But you know, we can't have a seemingly dead body in every
- 26:35game. You know what I mean?
- 26:36I bet she wasn't expecting to get tossed into that syringe
- 26:39fit. Yeah, no, that was like actual
- 26:42tear like, Oh my God. Maybe you should have, like,
- 26:44vetted the people a bit more, like, OK, let's try and control
- 26:48this game. Also, I'm gonna get one of the
- 26:50most erratic people. Available in this game too.
- 26:54And then what was your last point about the good?
- 26:57The twist? Good follow up, Twist.
- 26:59No, the one before that. The fun with the traps, how
- 27:03we're able to. Follow them.
- 27:05Yeah. OK, so how we're actually
- 27:06watching everything unfold in real time.
- 27:09It does help with the pacing a little bit, cuz the first one's
- 27:12a little bit more of like. Not a lot of people have heard
- 27:16of Jigsaw at this point, whereas in this one, a few more people
- 27:20are more aware of it. So instead of having to do this
- 27:22like, detective, we're gonna flash back to our past, figure
- 27:25out why we're here. We have people are like, OK,
- 27:28we're aware of what Jigsaw is and we're just gonna go through
- 27:30the trap. So I think that that makes sense
- 27:32from, like, a narrative standpoint, how they decide to
- 27:35progress with it. All right, bad.
- 27:39Steve, what do you not like about this?
- 27:41The world. So off the bat, the thing that I
- 27:43hate the most is knowing what comes after this.
- 27:46And they don't go with Amanda being Jigsaw.
- 27:49That to me is the biggest, like, travesty of coming out of this
- 27:52movie. And dude, I had, I completely
- 27:54forgotten about it. And I I think that's the the
- 27:57point. You watch this movie and you go,
- 27:58well, what the fuck? Like, I want that, you know,
- 28:01like you watch the third movie and yeah, she's there, but she's
- 28:04not the next Jigsaw and she. She's getting her own tests,
- 28:08yeah. Yeah, exactly.
- 28:09Again. Like, what the fuck?
- 28:10I thought she was the next Jigsaw.
- 28:12And you, you fade away on on on Jigsaw.
- 28:15Jim Cramer. Whatever.
- 28:16Jim Cramer? No.
- 28:16Jim Cramer, Jim Carrey. Jim Cramer is actually a monster
- 28:22truck driver. Bigfoot.
- 28:23Anyways, they they show that like the whole end of the movie
- 28:28is them pulling back from him in the the van or car, whatever it
- 28:32is like dying, you know what I mean?
- 28:33Like he's bleeding out. Like he's fucked up to me.
- 28:36That's them showing he's done. I think you should leave a Tim
- 28:39Robinson ruined that shot for me because all I can think of is
- 28:43the this paper make you sit skit where he dies in the car at the
- 28:49end. It's like a similar pullback
- 28:51shot. But also again, like, why do
- 28:55that if you're just going to go to the next movie and be like,
- 28:58man, Nah, she's not it. You know what I mean?
- 29:01Now I understand why they did it, but I don't.
- 29:03I want to see them go with what they're doing.
- 29:06The other thing that I. Think OK go for it.
- 29:08No, sorry. I've just responded.
- 29:10They they that's one of the things about the series.
- 29:12They have a terrible follow through with things that are
- 29:15like set up like he dies and the 4th or no the next one.
- 29:19Yeah, And then, like, they bring him back in every single other
- 29:21movie. Also in the fourth, Yeah, right.
- 29:25And then if you look at the new one that's coming out.
- 29:28Again, if you think he's still there.
- 29:31Yeah, well that one is meant to be set between two and three
- 29:33though. Or is it between 1:00 and 2:00?
- 29:35One and two. Yeah.
- 29:36Sorry. Go ahead.
- 29:37Whatever. I guess we're gonna find out
- 29:38when we watch it. The other thing I really didn't
- 29:40like is we missed two traps, you know, like you have the 7th
- 29:45heaven. She just dies right in the
- 29:48hallway. We don't see her, her trap, and
- 29:51then we don't see like, well, so Amanda doesn't have a trap.
- 29:55Then I think that the trap Addison dies in is the one
- 29:58that's meant for Amanda because she's an Lt. because of the
- 30:01cutting. The cutting.
- 30:03You're right. Yeah.
- 30:03Yeah. So I have a feeling that that
- 30:05was her intended trip. We don't see her, hers,
- 30:08whatever. We don't see the kids, if there
- 30:10was one, for the kid. We don't see one for dramas
- 30:13either, right? We don't.
- 30:16So that's my thing is like your I wanted to see more and maybe
- 30:19they did have it, but they ended up cutting them or something.
- 30:22And there's a lot of walking through hallways in this movie.
- 30:24Like, how big is that fucking house and how many different
- 30:28hallways and different doors They're walking by doors going,
- 30:31oh, we can't get in this or we can't.
- 30:32There's nothing else. And we found a door here.
- 30:34I'm watching you not try to get in all these doors.
- 30:37You know me. OK, They could be locked.
- 30:39But guess what? That dude has a baseball bat
- 30:40with spikes on it or nails he can get through those doors.
- 30:43Yeah, I like how he even makes the point, like this is a
- 30:45fucking house. It's not Fortress.
- 30:46Like I can bust my way through everything and then he proceeds
- 30:49to not exactly the the only other thing was the obby scene
- 30:54where he's in the furnace and it shows the devil pointing to the
- 30:57thing. To say turn it.
- 30:58Was that not to say turn it off or turn it up to come, you know
- 31:04to see the devil. I thought it's it's the opposite
- 31:07what I just said. If he were to grab that and turn
- 31:09it off, it would turn off the flames because he is the devil.
- 31:13I have a suspicion that he has a phobia of fire because like as
- 31:18soon as the fire comes out, like he curls up into a ball in the
- 31:21corner and he just becomes like frozen in fear.
- 31:24No, I'm gonna argue that that's the right reaction to have in
- 31:27that situation. I was thinking to myself last
- 31:30night. I'm going to be consumed in this
- 31:32flame no matter what. If I just sit here, if I at
- 31:35least make an attempt to go for that, I have a chance.
- 31:38At least like I'm burning up. I'm going to be burning up
- 31:40regardless, so at least like, I can maybe save myself, you know?
- 31:44Yeah, but. But until you're in that
- 31:45situation, you don't. Exactly.
- 31:47Yeah, but but also like you're you're going to die.
- 31:50So fuck it. I'm going to do what I need to
- 31:51do. I'm turning that goddamn valve.
- 31:53What's going to happen? OK.
- 31:55I don't have too many bats for this one, but so we said that
- 31:59the quick cuts were good. And the last one, I feel like,
- 32:01you know how they do the quick cut editing in this right here?
- 32:04Before it made sense because people were disoriented and it
- 32:08kind of puts you into that headspace with them.
- 32:11But this time we get them like right out of the gate when
- 32:14Matthews is inspecting the corpse and like it like quick
- 32:19cuts all over the jigsaw piece cut out.
- 32:21It's like it's just like. What the fuck is up with that?
- 32:25We don't have to have this stylistic editing for every shot
- 32:27or every scene. I would have loved them to play
- 32:29with the editing a little bit more, like in this one where
- 32:32they're going through the nerve agents and they're all a little
- 32:34bit woozy and whatnot. Like maybe have some of that
- 32:37more like hallucinogenic style editing.
- 32:40Like Midsummer type stuff where, yeah, waving around a little.
- 32:43Bit, yeah. Really, that's the only bad
- 32:45thing I had written down. But I agree with Steve's thing
- 32:47about because I never really considered that.
- 32:49Just not exploring the other traps.
- 32:52Like we don't even know what they are.
- 32:53I wish I at least knew what they are.
- 32:55My problem is we got two shaved headed bubbies and a couple more
- 33:00short headed bubbies and none of them saw the numbers on the back
- 33:04of the necks. You know what?
- 33:06You're right. What?
- 33:07The That bothered Why did nobody see Frankie when he was Roid
- 33:10raging around and be like, oh yo, you got something on the
- 33:13back of your neck? Abbie had a hood on most.
- 33:15Of the time. I know Abbie had the hood on,
- 33:17but like Frankie G immediately is down to his tank top and he's
- 33:21like, look at my muscles, ha ha ha ha.
- 33:24Like we should have been able to see that he is that guy.
- 33:27So you're not like, there's no part where he's not facing
- 33:30everybody beyond the part with Amanda in the needle pit where
- 33:33he's trying to open the lock, but they don't show you the back
- 33:36of his neck on purpose. But everybody in that fucking
- 33:38room would see it. Exactly.
- 33:40That's the only thing that really bought.
- 33:41Like, they're all sitting around looking for clues.
- 33:44And at one point Jonas even makes a comment about, like,
- 33:46tattoos. So it's not like they're not
- 33:48seeing each other's bodies. Not just not to say it in a
- 33:53weird way, but like, if I see that guy and he's been in the
- 33:56joint, right, and he's got a tattoo that looks whatever, he's
- 33:59the only tattoo I'm seeing with a number on the back of his
- 34:02head. Am I not going to be like, well,
- 34:04that's just a tattoo. I would think it's maybe a
- 34:07tattoo, but right, Nobody else, because I'm not seeing anybody
- 34:11else have it. Like Jonas had like a kind of
- 34:13high collared shirt on, so you couldn't really see the back of
- 34:15his neck. All the women had longer hair,
- 34:18even Amanda's hair cause long enough to, you know, blockers
- 34:21even if she had one, because we don't even know if she did have
- 34:24one. The kid had a high collared
- 34:26shirt on as well. So you're not looking for it.
- 34:29And again, if I'm in that situation and I don't know it's
- 34:32a saw type game like Amanda knows she's in on it.
- 34:36But you don't know that that number on the back of that
- 34:39dude's head who went to jail that that could be a prison tat
- 34:41like, OK, what is he got a nine on the back of his neck, OK, he
- 34:44doesn't even show the number. He just rips or cuts it off and
- 34:47just flapping in the wind and just pockets that bitch like,
- 34:49hey, I'm gonna save this later. Watching that scene, I'm just
- 34:52thinking like, what if he missed?
- 34:53Like what if he cut? It What if you cut it in half?
- 34:55Yes, that was my thought. I was like, it would be so easy
- 34:58to just fuck your shit up. What if it's like a six or like
- 35:01an 8 or a zero? Like, is it an 8069?
- 35:04I don't fucking know. Why is that?
- 35:06Pretty pretty low. So he started low.
- 35:09Why isn't he cutting everybody else's?
- 35:11Is he remembering what numbers they are?
- 35:13I. Was thinking about that.
- 35:14There's no fucking way. Especially like when he's
- 35:17drugged up like that, he's not gonna retain all that
- 35:19information. Like.
- 35:21And also remembering what color they were.
- 35:22That way he can reach it. Roy G Bivitt.
- 35:24Yeah, I don't think he was thinking that far ahead.
- 35:27He was just gathering numbers and Rain Man in it.
- 35:31Because you don't know, he could be the smartest guy there.
- 35:33Yeah, sure. OK, ugly.
- 35:40Shit, Steve starts off with. Yeah, yeah, that's right.
- 35:44So what's worse than what I just said already?
- 35:47Ugly more. It is either like some ugliness
- 35:52within the movie itself or how it reflects on society as a
- 35:56large, like. I would say that ugly for this
- 35:59movie is the very real depiction of police corruption, the
- 36:05willingness to beat the subjects, plant evidence.
- 36:08And I'm not saying that all cops do that, but I am saying that
- 36:12cops have been known to do that. So, you know, we've had very
- 36:16real. Examples in the media of cops
- 36:21just shooting Willy nilly at people.
- 36:24So I I I would say that's kind of the ugly side of this movie,
- 36:28is that even though, yeah, we have these supposed bad people,
- 36:32like are they that much worse than the people that were are
- 36:35supposed to protect and serve, you know, Yeah.
- 36:38What I was going to go with the completely opposite with you
- 36:42getting real was the way the movie looks.
- 36:45It looks super 2000 C. That's.
- 36:48Yeah, yeah, 2005 is ugly, yeah. But then also, like, they were
- 36:54doing a lot of stuff where they were zooming in on the film that
- 36:57was already there. So it looks even grainier and
- 37:00crappy because they're doing these weird.
- 37:02Like, OK, let's zoom in and then turn it to the side a little
- 37:04bit. Or quick cut here, quick cut
- 37:06there. And it was like, it's jarring
- 37:08looking at it now. Well and.
- 37:10When they first showed the surveillance footage and Donnie
- 37:13Wahlberg's like, that's my son, I looked at Travis and I was
- 37:16like, that could have been you on the surveillance footage and
- 37:18I wouldn't recognize you, like that footage is so grainy.
- 37:22Yeah. And so indistinct.
- 37:24At least it was shot on film, like they could have went
- 37:27digital, and digital during this time looks pretty rough.
- 37:31What up 28 days later? Also like even with what they
- 37:36did that you could tell their their slowing down the footage
- 37:39that's already slowed down and it's it's honestly like the
- 37:42frame rate of it looks so bad I don't know is not well shot if
- 37:49that makes sense or the editing of it is and again it it could
- 37:52be a you know the because of the times and what was going on
- 37:55around it but it just looked bad watching it and it kind of took
- 37:58me out of the movie while I was watching it like if this was the
- 38:01first time I ever watched it I'd be like.
- 38:03Oof, I don't like this. You know, I kind of agree with
- 38:07you. Yeah, like the editing and the
- 38:08overall look, it's, yeah, it's not exactly the best
- 38:11presentation, but, you know, thankfully it's got like a good
- 38:14story. At least save it.
- 38:16Yeah. But I mean, see, again, if I'm
- 38:19watching this for the first time, it's taking me so much out
- 38:21of the story that I'm like, I don't think this works because
- 38:25I'm not paying that much attention because I'm being
- 38:29distracted by what the movie looks like.
- 38:31You know what I mean? Like it would just be me sitting
- 38:33there going, what are we watching here while trying to
- 38:36pay attention to what's actually happening?
- 38:39Yeah, it definitely does kind of make it a little bit more
- 38:41difficult. That's I guess this is probably
- 38:43better that we watched it on DVD then where the resolution was
- 38:45way worse. So what's our absurd?
- 38:48I'll watch it on Peacock the the, the cock.
- 38:53OK, absurd. What's absurd in this movie for
- 38:56you, Steve? Let me think, you guys go first.
- 39:00Well. One of my upstairs I had written
- 39:02down was Chicksaw having enough material for two hours worth of
- 39:05conversation, which we've already kind of gone over.
- 39:07He was just kind of he's a windbag babbling.
- 39:10I thought that the cough acting was a little ridiculous at
- 39:14times. I don't think these people
- 39:15really know how to cough. Well, and I even called that out
- 39:19at one point. There's Amanda's fake cough.
- 39:22She's like, oh shit, I'm supposed to be sick too.
- 39:24But like the other people too, yeah, they're they're not really
- 39:27selling the cough and too well. I also think it's pretty fucking
- 39:31absurd and ridiculous that Amanda was able to find that
- 39:35antidote at the bottom of the syringe pit that is a literally
- 39:39needle in a haystack right there.
- 39:41And she did it, but she knows what she's looking for.
- 39:43So essentially, if this is her game, she put that in that.
- 39:46Yeah, the keychain was glowy, so she knew she had to look for the
- 39:49glowy. Syringe.
- 39:50I guess that makes sense. That one right there is
- 39:52ridiculous. So like a normal person would
- 39:54not have been able to get that. There's no fucking way.
- 39:57Especially not no. And especially not Xavier.
- 40:00No, definitely not Xavier, no. Definitely a cool ass looking
- 40:03scene though when she's sitting there just ripping them back
- 40:06behind her and like going through like you're like dude
- 40:08this fuck. Yeah, my absurd is.
- 40:11When they get Dan to the base and they're like, what the
- 40:13fuck's an OB? And he says it's pronounced
- 40:16Abby. And then he hits the tape and it
- 40:18says hello OB. Dude, no, you said like most of
- 40:22this stuff was improvised. I think he improvised it.
- 40:25It's Abby. I'm gonna add a new spin to.
- 40:28My character Abby. Well, that could also show that
- 40:31Jigsaw actually doesn't know him.
- 40:33And he's just using a random dude to do his bidding.
- 40:36You know what? That could be True.
- 40:37Reasonable. It's like, you know what?
- 40:38You're a bad. I know you're a bad person cuz
- 40:40you helped me do this shit. That's why you belong.
- 40:42I know you're a bad person, cuz you clearly haven't watched Star
- 40:45Wars. It's OB.
- 40:46Yeah, that's right. Okay, ridiculous for me.
- 40:50Or wait, what was the? Absurd.
- 40:52Absurd. Sorry.
- 40:53Absurd. There was a point in the
- 40:55beginning where the first tape is talking about the toxin
- 40:59that's in the house. And he says something about if
- 41:03anybody's seen the Tokyo subway, whatever this will make you, you
- 41:06know, you'll understand it. And I'm like, was that a real
- 41:09thing that we should have known about?
- 41:10Yeah, I meant to. I meant to research if that was
- 41:13a real thing. But I just.
- 41:14I ran out of time today. And is that not just showing
- 41:18that there's been so much that has happened since, that in the
- 41:21world, if this is real, that we don't even fucking remember it?
- 41:25That's a line of thinking. That's kind of a.
- 41:27Bug Here we go. I I found it.
- 41:29Tokyo subway attack or Tokyo Subway Sarin attack.
- 41:33The Tokyo subway sarin attack was an act of domestic terrorism
- 41:36perpetrated by or on 20th of March 1995 by members of the
- 41:41cult movement AUM Shinrikyo. So 14 people died and 1050
- 41:50people injured. Jesus.
- 41:52Yeah. So I guess it's the thing that
- 41:55happened 10 years prior. Pretty fucking rough, yeah, I'm
- 41:58gonna say. That's kind of messed up to just
- 41:59throw that in there, make that an ugly shock it.
- 42:01Yeah. All right.
- 42:04Scale one to 10. Where are we rating this, Steve?
- 42:10So I've thought about this. So I watched it yesterday and
- 42:13after the credits were rolling, I was like, did I really enjoy
- 42:17this movie like I have? Because I remember this always
- 42:21like when people were like, man, the soft franchise.
- 42:23What's the best one? It's #2 when they're in the
- 42:25house. Like it's it's so much different
- 42:27than all the other movies, but yet it's so good.
- 42:29I'm going to have to take that back.
- 42:31And I feel bad telling people this because this movie wasn't
- 42:34as good as I remember it being. I think I would rate the first
- 42:37movie better than this, even though, again, I like what it
- 42:40did, but then seeing what comes after it kind of like undoes
- 42:44some of the stuff in this. So I'm going to go with like 5
- 42:49out of 10, honestly. Like I like the movie, but not
- 42:52as much as I used to. I mean the fact that while there
- 42:55are some cool traps in it, there's really not a lot.
- 42:58When you break it down, you have the first one in the beginning,
- 43:00which isn't even part of the game.
- 43:01Then you have obviously the biggest trap, which is, you
- 43:04know, Eric Matthews, you know, Boy Meets World getting trapped
- 43:08at the end, which the whole game is about him.
- 43:10Which the other ridiculous thing I wanted to say is they're
- 43:12having this giant conversation with Jigsaw and they didn't
- 43:15notice that it was in a fucking elevator this whole time.
- 43:18Yeah, what the fuck. The whole room was an elevator.
- 43:21Okay cool. Whatever.
- 43:24The other traps we got, we got the one, you know, the wrist
- 43:27thing. That was kind of cool, cuz
- 43:28again, if you were smart but also not dying from a poison,
- 43:32you would probably look at it and be like, okay, my one wrist
- 43:35is fucked so I'm not gonna put my other wrist in there, so that
- 43:38makes sense to me. Especially cuz she fucked up the
- 43:41syringe the the antidote was lost.
- 43:43Yeah, also, how are you gonna get that out?
- 43:45When she tried to get it out and it just did what it did anyways.
- 43:47I think that was a losing game regardless.
- 43:50Well, she listened to the tape, so we have no clue.
- 43:52Yeah, she just. Tossed the side.
- 43:54You're right. And did.
- 43:55Did we even see a name on that? I don't think we did.
- 43:58I don't think so. Because we saw it from a
- 44:00different perspective. Right.
- 44:02I do think that would have been Amanda's game.
- 44:04And then we get the I don't even know what the whole gun to the
- 44:08fucking the back of the door even really means.
- 44:11And the guy who gets shot, there's a game for him, right?
- 44:13So we didn't get to see that that was his game.
- 44:15He lost. Game over.
- 44:21So I mean the the thought of the movie is what makes it worse for
- 44:26me because we're not getting what the movies promising me at
- 44:29the beginning, right when you're in the house with all these
- 44:31people. Shit, OK, we're seeing game
- 44:33after game for these people, but we don't we don't see them.
- 44:36Five out of 10/5 out of 10. OK, I think I I'm still pretty
- 44:41high on this one. I'm not as high on it as the
- 44:44first one. I think the first one is the
- 44:46best in the series. But I would say that this one's
- 44:50a pretty solid eight. It still has some of the like
- 44:55the police procedural type stuff going on in this movie that the
- 44:58first one had. Meanwhile, it's building up on
- 45:01the whole trap situation, which becomes like the major focus of
- 45:06the series. So we're not at the absurd point
- 45:09yet where it's just like all traps and like, how the fuck
- 45:11does this even happen? Like, it's still somewhat
- 45:13grounded a little bit in this one, which I appreciate.
- 45:17Yeah, I don't know. It feels about right.
- 45:19OK. I'm gonna give it a 7 1/2, OK?
- 45:22Because I do think to me, honestly, this just, it feels
- 45:27like a pretty solid sequel. But it also still feels like a
- 45:32franchise working on finding its footing at the same time.
- 45:36But I also, I have such a sentimental place for this
- 45:39because we rented this at the only pool party birthday I ever
- 45:43got to have. Because I'm a January birthday
- 45:46and I was always bummed out. I never got to have a pool
- 45:48party. And then the Holiday Inn
- 45:50renovated and they had they built an indoor pool.
- 45:53So my mom rented a couple rooms for me and my friends, and she
- 45:57did Payperview for Saw too. In one of the rooms.
- 46:00And then I want to say it was like just like heaven or when
- 46:04John Heater maybe. I think something like that.
- 46:07That was in the second movie for my little sister and also my one
- 46:10friend who couldn't watch horror movies.
- 46:12So they watched that movie in one room and the rest of us just
- 46:15saw two in the other room. The hell yeah.
- 46:17Kind of cool. You had different viewing
- 46:19parties and different rooms, yeah.
- 46:21You know what props you mom? Yeah, I was.
- 46:23That was awesome, honestly, because I always felt like I
- 46:26missed out not getting to do a pool party.
- 46:28So that's cool. Yeah.
- 46:29So I have like a very nostalgic place.
- 46:32And then after this, we started watching them all in theaters
- 46:34together. Me and my mom did.
- 46:35So dope. OK, so do you have our average
- 46:40figured at this point? Yes, 5/8 and seven and a half.
- 46:436.83 OK, that feels like an IMDb rating for this.
- 46:48Yeah, we're slightly higher. It's a 6.6 on IMDb.
- 46:52OK, so so almost. We're in the pocket there.
- 46:54Yeah, yeah, yeah. All right, cool.
- 46:56All right, let's get this one kicked off then.
- 46:58All right, it starts off with a man named Michael who wakes up
- 47:02with a death mask around his neck and a bloody eyeball.
- 47:06Bloody eyeball. What's up, Nicole Fox?
- 47:09He is there because he's an informant.
- 47:13He spies on people. He rats on him.
- 47:17So he has to get the key out from the back of his eyeball in
- 47:2260 seconds. I like the name they actually
- 47:24named this trap. It's called the Death mask.
- 47:27It's. I thought it was the Venus
- 47:28flytrap, he says. It's like a Venus flytrap, but
- 47:31he, like, refers to a couple of times as death mask.
- 47:33OK, I think that this is like his like favorite like pet
- 47:36project. It's like by the way you have to
- 47:37include death mask. Well, I feel like people refer
- 47:40to it as the Venus flytrap when they talk about traps, do they?
- 47:43Yeah. I'm gonna call it death mask.
- 47:45OK, Death Mask vs Fletcher. I also want to know why my man
- 47:48has to be in his boxer briefs like you.
- 47:51Know what was the purpose of stripping him down?
- 47:54He didn't need to be Gord. Gratuitous nudity to the plot.
- 47:57Yeah, yeah, more hostile type shit, right?
- 48:02Anyway, he can't. He can't cut his eye open.
- 48:05Who could? Yeah, exactly.
- 48:07I don't think I could do this one.
- 48:08That's like life or death threat there.
- 48:10Like I'm talking about the fire. I could do that one maybe.
- 48:13But this one right here I know I can't do this one it.
- 48:15Is an instantaneous death. It's not, like, gonna be slow in
- 48:18agonizing. True.
- 48:19Yeah. I mean.
- 48:21I don't know about that, depending on how deep those
- 48:23spikes go into your face. I mean, yeah, they're probably
- 48:26going in the the front, in the back, but I don't think you're
- 48:29dying immediately. I guess it does depend on the
- 48:31length of the spike. Those are some pretty decently
- 48:34sized spikes. Yeah, I think feeling it for at
- 48:37least. 10 to 15 seconds, and then you're bleeding out.
- 48:42You might be brains at that point.
- 48:44You might be overwhelmed with pain where you just kind of,
- 48:46like, go into shock. There's so many spikes there.
- 48:48I think that the brain is just gonna kind of haywire real
- 48:51quickly, like you're gonna be hitting all the neurons and
- 48:54whatnot in there. It's just gonna be like, all
- 48:56right, we're done. There is one thing for sure
- 48:58though. You're gonna die.
- 48:59It's death. Mass We need to get the old myth
- 49:01Busters back out. And dude, I would love to see
- 49:05that. Like, did they ever do anything
- 49:07like that? I know that they did movie shit,
- 49:08but did they ever like test saw traps?
- 49:11No, I know they did like zombie stuff where they were like, hey,
- 49:14if there's like a horde of zombies, how long can you last?
- 49:16Or is it reasonable to have an axe versus a gun or a, you know,
- 49:20a sword versus a gun and stuff like that, 'cause of reload?
- 49:23I don't think they ever did anything beyond maybe Jaws and
- 49:26stuff like that with horror movies.
- 49:28They need to reboot that for the next movie coming out soon, OK?
- 49:32OK. So then we cut to Detective
- 49:35Matthews. He's getting his son out of a
- 49:37security office, and he's kind of kind of yelling at him as
- 49:42they walk home along the boardwalk.
- 49:43What a nice hotel for this. Yeah, well.
- 49:47Honestly, it could be a lot worse in this scenario.
- 49:50Daniel's being a little angsty. Shit, you guys have shoplifting
- 49:53and you know, I think he has the right to be mad here.
- 49:56But like, he does that one thing here where, like Daniel's, like,
- 50:01I should probably just go see mom.
- 50:02And I think that he's like saying it like, you know, not
- 50:04really meaning it. He think he's just trying to get
- 50:06a reaction of his dad. But I don't think he expected
- 50:09the full force of a Wahlberg to get in his face.
- 50:11But fucking go, go and fucking dare you too.
- 50:15Fuck out of here. We're going to make a wall.
- 50:17Burgers, you're not invited. I I legitimately believe that
- 50:21the actor is like Jesus, OK? Like was like for real there in
- 50:25that scene. Maybe he originally was supposed
- 50:28to be found by Donnie. At the end.
- 50:29He's like, I don't want to shoot with him again.
- 50:31That might have been him doing his 5% of ad over here.
- 50:34He's like, Oh my God, that wasn't in the script.
- 50:37Yeah, so. We didn't actually get to see
- 50:40the mother, do we? No, no, it's Amanda.
- 50:44Ooh. Yeah, so he's.
- 50:46Immediately remorseful of the situation and blowing up
- 50:49Daniel's phone trying to get him to answer.
- 50:52Like, no wonder your son's A delinquent.
- 50:54If this is how you handle conflict with him.
- 50:56Yeah, like he obviously hates authority because you're a cop
- 50:59and you're like a big piece of shit.
- 51:01Yeah. So he's trying to call Daniel.
- 51:03Daniel's not answering his phone and eventually he does get a
- 51:07call back and immediately assumes it's Daniel because it's
- 51:092005 and caller ID isn't necessarily the norm yet.
- 51:14But he he is asked to report to a crime scene.
- 51:18Detective Kerry wants him there to help ID because they believe
- 51:21it's the informant that he uses. But the actual truth is that he
- 51:26was called there because there's a note for him on the ceiling
- 51:28that says look closer, Detective Matthews.
- 51:31And this is such a weird dynamic between Kerry and Matthews.
- 51:37I feel like he gets romanticized in later movies.
- 51:39The dynamic between Kerry Matthews and Rigg in later
- 51:44movies, it's like, man, I care so much about these people, but
- 51:47in this movie, they all just seem to kind of fucking hate
- 51:49each other. Yeah, yeah, they do.
- 51:51Yeah. There's not really much
- 51:52chemistry between them there. Do they really ever talk about?
- 51:55Eric Matthews that much ever again beyond the third movie.
- 51:59He's in the fourth one. No, that's Riggs whole driving
- 52:01force in the fourth one is that he is told he could save
- 52:04Detective Matthews. Oh, oh, OK.
- 52:06He's kind of a major factor in that one, but still he's like.
- 52:09Cool, right? Yeah, Yeah.
- 52:11And he's like going around like. He's like, see what I see, feel
- 52:16what I feel? Save as I save, yeah.
- 52:18And then he ends up getting gets his head crushed by the guys.
- 52:22Mmhmm. Yeah.
- 52:25Yeah, so Matthews is pissed that she, like, pulled that trick on
- 52:30him. We find out that they used to be
- 52:32partners, but he's stuck on desk work because he's gotten in a
- 52:36bit of a trouble with internal affairs.
- 52:39We bit. That's going to be important
- 52:41later once we learned that he's been planting evidence and
- 52:45beating up suspects, yeah, but then like it shows him later at
- 52:49night and he's having a dream. And somehow he manages to dream
- 52:54that there was a clue in the crime scene, which I think this
- 52:59is fucking weird, that he was able to pick up on that detail
- 53:03from a photograph from his dream.
- 53:05No. Like dreams are.
- 53:09Honestly, it's a part of a way of our brain processing what
- 53:11happened throughout the day. You think so?
- 53:13You think you would be able to, like, pick up on a clue?
- 53:15It's just his brain is like resetting and processing things
- 53:19that went through. Like it's not necessarily like
- 53:21the dream is telling you the clues that you wake up, you've.
- 53:24Your brain has been kind of mulling over.
- 53:25It sounds like a smart dream. I have dumb dreams.
- 53:28Just a bunch of stupid shit happening.
- 53:31I get chased by people all the. Time.
- 53:35It's. I mean, it's not an unreasonable
- 53:37thing to have happen. Okay.
- 53:39Fair enough. Okay.
- 53:40Yeah, I've woken up from a dream and I'm like, shit, that's what
- 53:42that meant. Or I need to do this.
- 53:44Or damn it, that's what that thing was sitting somewhere.
- 53:48So I get it. Yeah, especially like work
- 53:50related stuff. I've had plenty of work related
- 53:52dreams and then I go in and I'm like ohh Yep this is the thing I
- 53:54needed to fix. Like, wow, I.
- 53:56Figure it out in my dreams. So we see SWAT going into this
- 54:03house or building or whatever, and Matthews decides that he's
- 54:06gonna join in because of his dream clue.
- 54:09Then we have this, the one of the probably most upsetting
- 54:13traps in the whole Saw franchise, which is the team
- 54:17going upstairs and. Uh, like a board shoots out and
- 54:23breaks this dude's legs, pushes them down the stairs and pushes
- 54:27the other SWAT team members into this cage that electrocutes
- 54:30them. Is that what that was?
- 54:32Yeah. OK.
- 54:32I wasn't sure. It looked like like middle, like
- 54:34many explosions happening in there.
- 54:36I wasn't sure if it's like flash bangs or what was happening.
- 54:39No, it was it was electrocution. Yeah, there's a pretty, I love
- 54:43that setup, though, where the puppet, just like Billy, just
- 54:47rolls up at the top of the stairs there.
- 54:49It's so creepy. None of the detectives in this
- 54:52franchise ever learned to back the fuck up whenever Billy the
- 54:55puppets in the room. Yeah, everybody just fucking
- 54:57duck. Like hit the ground.
- 54:59Yeah, every single time. We're going to see it again and
- 55:02again throughout. Yeah, they do eventually get to
- 55:05Jigsaw where he is holed up in one of the rooms.
- 55:08He is hooked up to a bunch of Iv's.
- 55:10They're going to cough and arrest him, but then he's like,
- 55:12I can't leave because Detective Matthews has a problem he has to
- 55:16handle before we can go anywhere.
- 55:19And he kind of directs them over to this setup.
- 55:22There's a blanket over some stuff.
- 55:24When they remove the blanket, they see a bunch of screens with
- 55:28surveillance footage of a house with a bunch of people,
- 55:31including Daniel Matthews. He says there's a gas in their
- 55:36nerve system. That will kill them in two hours
- 55:39unless they can both complete their games, and John says don't
- 55:43worry, he's in a safe place and then he Snickers and winks.
- 55:48Yes, there will be blood. Does he?
- 55:51Actually snicker and wink when he says that.
- 55:53No, he does. He he he smiles.
- 55:56I'm editorializing. He's got a nice, he's got a
- 55:59pretty charming smile, honestly. He's in a safe space.
- 56:03Looking at the safe, looking back at him, looking back at the
- 56:06safe. I don't mean a safe shit.
- 56:08Can you imagine, like him actually just laying out there
- 56:11in front of them like he's in a safe place and like, nobody's
- 56:15just picking up on it this? Guy's broken.
- 56:17Weird. Well, and then there, here's
- 56:20like this creepy thing because Detective Matthews decides he's
- 56:22gonna try and call Daniel and it goes straight to voicemail and
- 56:25it's Jigsaw's voicing. Daniel can't come to the phone.
- 56:28Can you imagine being Daniel's mom?
- 56:30Because she has to be trying to get a hold of him too.
- 56:33You know what? Holy shit.
- 56:34That's gotta be really creepy. Yeah, like if they've like
- 56:37played these tapes, like on the news, like this is the voice of
- 56:41Jigsaw that we found on the scene.
- 56:42And then you hear that whenever you are calling your son.
- 56:45Who? Would be a little fucking
- 56:46freaky, yeah, yeah, But we don't know because we don't even.
- 56:48Nobody has a mom. That's true.
- 56:50Maybe he. Has a mom.
- 56:51The mom has primary custody. Maybe that's why Donnie Wahlberg
- 56:55dared. I'm gonna go earlier.
- 56:56So, yeah, go find one. Yeah.
- 56:58Give me a. Have a mom.
- 57:00OK, so in the game, people are kind of wandering around this
- 57:05room. Most of them have woken up, but
- 57:07there's one that's still asleep and they're like, don't worry,
- 57:09she's breathing. They're all strangers and they
- 57:12haven't been able to find a way out through any of the doors in
- 57:15the room and start hearing like a ticking through the door and
- 57:18they all put their ears up to it and they can't figure it out.
- 57:21And then that's when Amanda wakes up and she starts going
- 57:23into a panic and starts tearing everything in the real part.
- 57:28And then she manages to pull apart some bricks and finds a
- 57:31tape in there. Yeah, so the tape says that they
- 57:35all have more in common than they think.
- 57:37The nerve agent will kill them in two hours.
- 57:40I wrote Years. Wow, I was really optimistic.
- 57:44For them. But the doors to the house will
- 57:47open in three hours, so they have to find a way to stay
- 57:50alive. You stay alive with the
- 57:52antidote, and there's different ways to get the antidotes
- 57:55throughout the house. I'm curious how an anecdote can
- 57:58save you from breathing in toxic gas.
- 58:00I feel like maybe a gas mask would have been, you know?
- 58:03Better, Yeah. Yeah.
- 58:04I mean, I don't know. And they said that in addition
- 58:08to having something in common. The key to finding the antidote
- 58:12is all in the back of their mind and the order will be over.
- 58:15The rain though they find a key and the note on it says do not
- 58:19use this to go through the door. And I was like, we should
- 58:22probably use this and she goes don't do it.
- 58:23You need to follow the rules. And they're like, whatever, I'm
- 58:27gonna go over here and I'm gonna put my eye out to this keyhole
- 58:30while I unlock the door, because I've clearly never unlocked a
- 58:33door in my life. Yeah, who the fuck does that?
- 58:36That is weird. How people it's looking the
- 58:38other way, is it not? Looking in, yeah, not out of.
- 58:43I mean, it could be Kramer's reverse people, I guess.
- 58:48This definitely has to be that guy's test.
- 58:51So it's like this guy always looks through people is when he
- 58:53opens. Through Well, this is also the
- 58:54same guy when they're like, have you ever been drunk before?
- 58:56He goes, yeah, I've been drunk. I did three years in college.
- 58:59John Kramer. Mr. PhD in Engineering is like
- 59:03your sin is that you don't have a college education.
- 59:06Dumb, dumb idiot. Let's see.
- 59:08Yeah, let's see if you are smart enough to not look through a
- 59:11people while you open the door. Probably not.
- 59:14Yeah. Well, and played it right
- 59:17because he was right cuz yeah, yeah, what does this fucking
- 59:20brains out, Then they wait a little bit longer and the door
- 59:23opens on its own. Yep, Yep.
- 59:26Jake Saw said that he'll talk to Detective Matthews, but
- 59:28Detective Matthews only. Everybody else needs to back up.
- 59:32Kerry and Rigg are bickering about what the right call is and
- 59:36Kerry is like, well, you know, this has been my case for a
- 59:38while and I I want to follow through on this the way that
- 59:42makes the most sense given what we know about him.
- 59:45She says that Detective Matthews lost his son one time before
- 59:49when they got involved together, so that's presumably the cause
- 59:52for the divorce was they had an affair.
- 59:55She's like, so. Not gonna let you lose your son
- 59:58again. Just humor John.
- 1:00:00He wants to be heard. That's kind of his whole thing.
- 1:00:03Just humor him. Yeah, so back at the house,
- 1:00:07everybody has kind of split up temporarily to look around.
- 1:00:10This would be a fun video game. I bet it would.
- 1:00:13This house and like, you just have a bunch of puzzles and
- 1:00:15traps you have to solve. I mean, you're kind of
- 1:00:18describing breakout games here. This is basically a breakout
- 1:00:22game without the, you know, no deaths in a breakout game, but
- 1:00:27you know, same concept. Yeah, I mean, I guess, I just, I
- 1:00:31don't know, like in the breakout games, like we had those the the
- 1:00:35fake manacles on and they're like you could just take it off
- 1:00:37and we're like, you know. We didn't even do the full
- 1:00:40puzzle with it. It would be really cool to do a
- 1:00:43breakout game that is, saw them where you have like your own
- 1:00:47trap designed for you, but you know you just don't die like
- 1:00:53you're able to survive it. Really expensive and invasive.
- 1:00:57What's the fun of that? I don't know.
- 1:00:58I guess you could either win like $100 million or you die.
- 1:01:01I. Mean.
- 1:01:04I'm pretty sure there are movies like that as well.
- 1:01:06Let's write it. Let's make a game.
- 1:01:08Make it happen. You.
- 1:01:09Called the game. The game.
- 1:01:12There's a movie called The Game. That's the whole point of that.
- 1:01:14Matthews is talking to Jigsaw, but he has like his radio under
- 1:01:19like, not very sneakily underneath his chair at all.
- 1:01:22Jigsaw is basically taunting him about like his past and
- 1:01:25discretions at work. And then he's like, can you get
- 1:01:29me some water? Which just feels like the power
- 1:01:33move. It is a little bit, but also you
- 1:01:35kind of have to like if I grab that water, is it gonna explode
- 1:01:38in my face? So, like, what's gonna happen
- 1:01:39here? Inside the house, we discover
- 1:01:43there's a metal grate over the front door, so Xavier beating it
- 1:01:47with the bat isn't really helping.
- 1:01:49They're all bickering a little bit when Jonas realizes that at
- 1:01:53least a couple of them have in common that they've done some
- 1:01:56time in prison. Then they find a door to the
- 1:02:00basement. In the basement there's a
- 1:02:02mannequin with Obby's nave on it, and the tape says that he's
- 1:02:05burned to others with his lies and cons.
- 1:02:08And he can get two antidotes if he goes into this furnace.
- 1:02:12One is yours to give to whoever you choose, and the other is for
- 1:02:17you, for helping me kidnap everybody else.
- 1:02:20Just putting it out there in. Front of you?
- 1:02:22Yeah. And everybody's like, what the
- 1:02:25fuck? Well, you know how we got in
- 1:02:27here, You know how to get us out.
- 1:02:28And he's like, I truthfully didn't think I was going to be
- 1:02:30in here too. So no, I don't know how to get
- 1:02:32out. And they basically bully him
- 1:02:35into the furnace. And it doesn't end well.
- 1:02:40We get I'll be well done. This is a This one's cool.
- 1:02:45It's terrible if you're claustrophobic.
- 1:02:47It's terrible if you're afraid of fire.
- 1:02:50It's just a terrible trap. This one right here is
- 1:02:52miserable. There's no part of me that would
- 1:02:55want to do this trap. Absolutely not.
- 1:02:58Well, I like the whole idea though is that he doesn't need
- 1:03:01to get the 2nd syringe if he just got the one for himself.
- 1:03:06He's fine. Yeah, until the other people
- 1:03:08kill him for both not getting the 2nd syringe and for getting
- 1:03:13him getting them trapped there in the 1st place, I would just
- 1:03:16be like, hey, I got mine. If you guys want yours, go in
- 1:03:18there and get it. Right.
- 1:03:19And that's the whole point is, yeah, like people are going to
- 1:03:22fucking kill this guy. Or like, it's just human nature,
- 1:03:24right? Like, yo, you could either help
- 1:03:26everybody or get it for yourself.
- 1:03:28The thing too is though, I mean, I'm looking at it as I know this
- 1:03:32is a trap, but the one that. Is not on a chain.
- 1:03:37Is easy to grab the one that's on a chain, he's pulling the
- 1:03:40chain with it. You know, like maybe look at it
- 1:03:42a little bit better and be like, oh, maybe I should take it off
- 1:03:45the chain so it doesn't shut the door.
- 1:03:48Or maybe like so it's easy to like pick this thing apart and
- 1:03:52knowing what happens. So maybe somebody like stand in
- 1:03:53front of the door that way, like it doesn't shut.
- 1:03:55On I thought about that and the way it like, slams shut and the
- 1:03:59fact that it's a furnace makes me think that they would just
- 1:04:01end up getting hurt in the process, trying to keep it open
- 1:04:04possibly, but yeah. Probably.
- 1:04:07Anyway, when he dies, the needles are still in the furnace
- 1:04:10and they get burnt up too, so nobody gets an antidote.
- 1:04:12Did anybody get an antidote throughout this whole movie?
- 1:04:15I don't think so. No.
- 1:04:17Oh yeah, I mean at the movie that everybody's coughing and
- 1:04:20throwing up blood, but yet Amanda and Nathaniel, whatever,
- 1:04:25are fine until the end, though he does cough up blood at the
- 1:04:28end. No, I think.
- 1:04:30I think Daniel is actually being affected by the nerve agent.
- 1:04:35Amanda's definitely not. She's making her coughs.
- 1:04:38She is way less pale than the rest of them.
- 1:04:41Like the only time her eyes are as red as theirs is after the
- 1:04:44needle pit because she was crying.
- 1:04:48Also has like a red rash around his his neck and then around his
- 1:04:53nose too is all red as well. So yeah, he's obviously being
- 1:04:56affected, but maybe maybe they gave him a little bit of the
- 1:04:59antidote so he's not going to die at all because that's the
- 1:05:02whole point of the game is he has to survive this to be in
- 1:05:05safe at the end. So what happens when that big
- 1:05:07dude just happens to stab him? Does does jigsaws plans go away?
- 1:05:12Yeah, probably. The whole thing pretty much
- 1:05:13falls apart, yeah? Yeah, that's the only, the only.
- 1:05:16The only big qualm I have about some of these movies is
- 1:05:19everything has to fall into place exactly the way he plans
- 1:05:22it. And there's no backup plan, but
- 1:05:25everything always goes the way it's designed, yeah.
- 1:05:29Jigsaw tells Matthews that he needs to follow the rules, which
- 1:05:32is just to sit there and talk. He asked about a cure for cancer
- 1:05:35and then he insists that he's not a murderer because he's
- 1:05:38never actually murdered anybody. And then he's like, why do you
- 1:05:43care about saving your son? Is it because the knowledge of
- 1:05:47death changes things? You know, he talks about after
- 1:05:50he learned that he was dying of cancer, he drove his car off a
- 1:05:55Cliff. And then when he survived that,
- 1:05:57it completely changed his. Outlook on things.
- 1:06:01Yeah. So I almost murdered myself.
- 1:06:03So now I'm gonna go murder everybody because I.
- 1:06:07I get the analogy they're trying to go with, right?
- 1:06:09That cancer is eating his body and he's gonna die anyways.
- 1:06:12But yet driving off a Cliff and surviving a car crash with a
- 1:06:16fucking thing through my gut, my body's fine and can survive
- 1:06:19through it. So because of that, obviously
- 1:06:21now I'm gonna be a mass murderer who makes people try to do the
- 1:06:25same thing, But totally not a murderer.
- 1:06:27Totally. Right.
- 1:06:27Totally not. Yeah.
- 1:06:30Do you think because he's got brain cancer, do you think maybe
- 1:06:35he was just like, a totally mellow dude before the tumor?
- 1:06:40And it's one of those cases, like a Phineas Gage situation,
- 1:06:44where, like, the tumor has just messed with his brain so much
- 1:06:47and he's like, I'm gonna be a murderer now?
- 1:06:50Yeah. I've never thought about that.
- 1:06:51There's things where like people have.
- 1:06:54Like an aneurysm or something. And they survive and they can
- 1:06:57speak German or some shit. Yeah, that's happening.
- 1:06:59So I mean, I kind of like that where he was normal dude, super
- 1:07:03smart. And then that tumor maybe moved
- 1:07:06something in his brain. So now he's just like, you know
- 1:07:08what? Fuck people.
- 1:07:10Well, that's how some people discover.
- 1:07:13Discover brain tumors is because they have a sudden, drastic
- 1:07:16personality change. OK.
- 1:07:18OK. And so they go in for testing
- 1:07:19and discover there's like a tumor like pressing in on
- 1:07:22different parts of the brain that affect, you know,
- 1:07:24personality, cognition and all of that.
- 1:07:26But there is something there to that though.
- 1:07:29I like it. Smart.
- 1:07:30Yeah. Smart.
- 1:07:30I. Don't know how many times I'm
- 1:07:31gonna have to remind you today, but I'm smart.
- 1:07:34So in the house, Laura's not doing well and Daniel's doing
- 1:07:37his best to help her, you know, keep her spirits high.
- 1:07:42He asked Amanda about surviving her first trap.
- 1:07:46And, you know, it's kind of like, why are you back here?
- 1:07:49Why are you being tested again if you survived?
- 1:07:51And she's like, well, I started, you know, I survived my first
- 1:07:54Test, which is when I was dealing with addiction.
- 1:07:57But then I started cutting after I was arrested for possession.
- 1:08:00He's like, but I thought you said you weren't addicted.
- 1:08:02She goes, yeah, we'll talk, talk to the cop that arrested me,
- 1:08:05kind of implying that it was a bullshit charge.
- 1:08:11So the others have found a door and come to get those 3, and
- 1:08:15when they get to the door, it's kind of it's not locked, but
- 1:08:19it's kind of stuck and Xavier has to force it open and when he
- 1:08:23does, a 3 minute timer starts. The tape is for Xavier saying
- 1:08:28that as a drug dealer he gives people hope and then forces them
- 1:08:32into a pit of squalor. So he is going to do the same is
- 1:08:35going to happen to him. And because Xavier is a buff big
- 1:08:40baby, he throws Amanda into the pit instead, which I feel like
- 1:08:46is really fucked up because of his whole test is about how he
- 1:08:49basically preys on people with addiction issues and then he
- 1:08:53takes. The person with addiction
- 1:08:55issues, and those are into a bit of needles.
- 1:08:58That's extra fucked up, right? Yeah.
- 1:09:01Like she just said, she survived one before.
- 1:09:03So whatever. Go.
- 1:09:04You can survive another way. You got this.
- 1:09:07So I think it's more of like she can handle it cuz she has been
- 1:09:10addicted. So get in there with all the
- 1:09:12needles. Also, there is a movie flub in
- 1:09:14this scene when they first get to the.
- 1:09:18The room and it says there's 3 minutes left.
- 1:09:19It shows the ticking timer on the door.
- 1:09:22Then it shows him like kind of messing with the door on the
- 1:09:25door. The timer says like 18 seconds.
- 1:09:27It wasn't paying attention to that.
- 1:09:30So she does. She does the thing.
- 1:09:33She ends up just powering through.
- 1:09:35She gets the key. She saves the day.
- 1:09:38Xavier fucks up. He drops the key, and then he
- 1:09:41blames her for it. It's.
- 1:09:44Not this guy. It's bullshit, though, that the
- 1:09:46antidote isn't at the bottom of that.
- 1:09:47I think if you dig and successfully get that at the
- 1:09:50bottom of all the syringes, you win.
- 1:09:52Yeah, you should fucking win. I'm not using a needle that's
- 1:09:55been in that fit with those other needles.
- 1:09:57If it's the only antidote that you can get, fuck yeah, you are.
- 1:10:01I use a cap on the needle, cap on the yeah, there we go.
- 1:10:05Or it's in its own little capsule.
- 1:10:07OK, so now this is around the time where they all realize that
- 1:10:11they've been to jail, because everybody's been talking about
- 1:10:13jail shit this entire time, but it's finally clicking for
- 1:10:15everybody now. Yeah, and they're like, haha,
- 1:10:17here's our common ground. And they're like you kid.
- 1:10:19You got juvie written all over you.
- 1:10:21And he goes, no, my dad's a hard ass.
- 1:10:24Yeah, my dad's a Wahlberg. I can't.
- 1:10:29Say, how do you remember from? This so they.
- 1:10:33They all just kind of split. Xavier decides that he's gonna
- 1:10:36split off because everybody else is holding him down.
- 1:10:39Yeah, this motherfucker dropped the goddamn key and just blame
- 1:10:43everybody else. I hate this guy.
- 1:10:45Yep, it sucks. They have called in the tech
- 1:10:49team to find where the video footage is coming from.
- 1:10:53Kerry suggests that Matthew. Threatened to destroy some of
- 1:10:58his work, some of Jigsaw's work, because that's kind of his whole
- 1:11:02deal, is that he's proud of it. Wants people to know what he's
- 1:11:05doing. But John is like, yeah, that's
- 1:11:08fine, Go ahead. Keep ripping stuff up.
- 1:11:10What are you gonna what evidence are you gonna use to convict me
- 1:11:13if you destroy all of this? And Matthew goes, I don't need
- 1:11:15it. So I'll play pretty bald right
- 1:11:18there. Draw on my own.
- 1:11:20It's like the worst plan. It goes.
- 1:11:24Because I need to show you something.
- 1:11:26How about you have the detectives that are listening in
- 1:11:28on your walk under there not smooth.
- 1:11:33Tell them to check this drawer in the brown desk where they're
- 1:11:36at. And in that drawer are the files
- 1:11:39for all the other people in the house with Daniel.
- 1:11:43And they're all people that Matthew's arrested with planted
- 1:11:48evidence. So the stakes just got even
- 1:11:52higher. Is he the only one who knows
- 1:11:55that he planted the evidence? Or does his friends in the cop
- 1:11:57shop also know he planted evidence?
- 1:12:00I bet they considering IA is breathing down his neck and he's
- 1:12:03been saddled with desk work and isn't partners with Kerry
- 1:12:06anymore. I'm gonna say that at the very
- 1:12:08least, there's rumors, but I I feel like they probably know.
- 1:12:15Probably. You're right in the house,
- 1:12:18Xavier figures out that there's numbers.
- 1:12:21On their necks. When he looks at like one of the
- 1:12:24bodies on the floor, Jonas comes in and confronts him and he's
- 1:12:27like, I know everybody else is scared of you, but I'm not
- 1:12:30scared of you. I got people on the outside that
- 1:12:32I'm trying to protect, and if I die in here, they're going to go
- 1:12:34from a family. So they fight a little bit and
- 1:12:37Xavier ends up winning the fight because he's massive.
- 1:12:41Well, actually, Jonas puts up a pretty good fight for being like
- 1:12:44a much scrawnier. Dude, Yeah.
- 1:12:47And literally he wins until he gets back.
- 1:12:50No, I replaced. Her often from the the nerve
- 1:12:53agent. And then he gets planted pretty
- 1:12:56good. I forgot that he was that cuz I
- 1:12:59wrote Jonas wins. And then as soon as that
- 1:13:01happened, like I saw Xavier stand up in the background and I
- 1:13:03just wrote an XI was like gets spikes to head.
- 1:13:07So meanwhile, out in the hallway, Laura collapses and she
- 1:13:12looks up and there's like a photo frame.
- 1:13:16With an X on it. And they all take that as a hint
- 1:13:19and they pull it off the wall and on the back of the frame is
- 1:13:22a photo of Daniel and Eric Matthews and Addison's like,
- 1:13:26this is the cop who faked my charges and put me away.
- 1:13:29What are you doing with him and Daniel's?
- 1:13:31Like, ah, that's that's my that's my dad.
- 1:13:35Laura has a seizure and dies, and Addison splits off Amanda's
- 1:13:40piss so she goes off to the room they all started in.
- 1:13:44Xavier's going around trying to collect numbers from the
- 1:13:46different bodies, and he finds the photo in the hallway too.
- 1:13:50A man. Once Amanda realizes that
- 1:13:52Xavier's just going rogue and killing people, she goes and
- 1:13:55clicks Daniel and they start working together.
- 1:13:58Matthews decides he's going to beat up John.
- 1:14:03That feels like the right the right call in this moment, and
- 1:14:06Carrie tries to stop him, but Rick blocks her from getting
- 1:14:09over to him. Rick, like we did it your way,
- 1:14:11We're going to do it this way. He, like, beats the shit off him
- 1:14:15and then puts a gun in his mouth.
- 1:14:16Yeah, like it's pretty brutal. Meanwhile, Addison finds a room
- 1:14:21that has a syringe and this little block contraption, and
- 1:14:24she sticks her hand in through this, like, trap razor thing.
- 1:14:29It's kind of like the top of a of a McDonald's Coke where it's
- 1:14:33got the little Flappy thing. Oh my God.
- 1:14:36So he she sticks her arm through.
- 1:14:39Immediately fucks up the antidote syringe, and because
- 1:14:43she is, you know, mostly dead already, she sticks her other
- 1:14:46arm up through not thinking. Get through.
- 1:14:48And she's just trapped this whole time though, so she's
- 1:14:51trapped there. And then Xavier comes in and
- 1:14:54like just like gets the number from the back of her neck.
- 1:14:57But imagine the thought going through her head like, Oh my
- 1:15:00God, he's there. Like, Oh my God, he's grabbing
- 1:15:02my hair. What the fuck is happening?
- 1:15:04And then he just slowly backs away.
- 1:15:06It's like, did he sniff me or something like?
- 1:15:08What the fuck? Yeah, because he just goes.
- 1:15:11Yeah. And then he walks away.
- 1:15:12I would be so like, I've got my hand strapped in here, but that
- 1:15:15was the worst thing that happened to me.
- 1:15:18What? So did every I guess trap?
- 1:15:21Did it have two syringes? Did hers have two also?
- 1:15:24No, hers. Just have one.
- 1:15:25Not, that's what I was saying. So the one with the pit, we
- 1:15:28don't see it because it says that they're locked behind the
- 1:15:31the vault or whatever, which how the fuck did you get that type
- 1:15:35of door in this place to begin with?
- 1:15:39But did it say there was two behind there or only one?
- 1:15:42I can't remember. The only one with two that I can
- 1:15:45think of is just the like the fire chamber.
- 1:15:48So then why does fuck does that matter?
- 1:15:50Why is he? Why does he get two and
- 1:15:52everybody else only gets one? I think it was really more the
- 1:15:55psychological component. So he could say one is for you,
- 1:15:58for doing me this favor and the others to give out how you see
- 1:16:00fit. Yeah, I think it was just a
- 1:16:02psychological component, so. John says, All right, fine, game
- 1:16:08over. I'll take you to the house, but
- 1:16:10only you. And the good news is that they
- 1:16:13can get out pretty easily because they're inside of a
- 1:16:16giant industrial elevator. So they push a button and
- 1:16:19disappear while everybody else is slow to react.
- 1:16:22Meanwhile, the tech team has figured out the house's address,
- 1:16:26so the SWAT team is headed there as well.
- 1:16:30Inside the house, Amanda and Daniel are back in the first
- 1:16:33room trying to hold the door closed against Xavier, and while
- 1:16:37they're in there, they find a trap door under the safe in the
- 1:16:40middle of the room. They use the key from the
- 1:16:44peephole door trap to get through the trap door, and they
- 1:16:49get through just as Xavier busts in.
- 1:16:52Amanda and Daniel are being chased by Xavier underground,
- 1:16:55while Matthews arrives at the house, the last house on the
- 1:16:59left. Yeah, the last house on the left
- 1:17:01being given the key by John and SWAT is inside their location
- 1:17:08and they cannot see, they cannot be seen on the camera carries
- 1:17:13like, I can't see you guys at all.
- 1:17:16They don't seem to see Eric or any of the bodies because Eric
- 1:17:19has found all of these different dead bodies, so they're
- 1:17:21realizing maybe they're in the wrong location.
- 1:17:24Amanda and Daniel are at the bathroom from the first movie,
- 1:17:27and Xavier finds them. And Amanda says that Daniel's
- 1:17:31dead and he's like, I don't care.
- 1:17:34I just want the number on the back of her neck, on the back of
- 1:17:36your necks. And she's like, well, what are
- 1:17:38you gonna do? I'm not gonna tell you the
- 1:17:39number on the back of yours that like blows his mind like shit.
- 1:17:43And then he's just like, all right, all right.
- 1:17:45And then he cuts up his own neck.
- 1:17:50But guess what? Daniel's still alive and he
- 1:17:52kicks Xavier and takes the knife and slits his throat.
- 1:17:55And then he cries cuz he just killed a man.
- 1:17:57He. Uses the the saw that was in
- 1:17:59there. OK.
- 1:18:02Missed that. Taking it from the first one
- 1:18:04there, you know. What's the movie's title?
- 1:18:07Yeah, I also love that we get, you know, the corpse of Adam in
- 1:18:11there, too. It's just chilling in the
- 1:18:12corner. Yeah, I kind of like that.
- 1:18:14And then the guy, what was the the guy that, like, kidnapped
- 1:18:17him or whatever's in there too? I like that this all kind of
- 1:18:24takes place within. I don't know, those bodies don't
- 1:18:27look that decomposed. Maybe a month of each other?
- 1:18:30Yeah. Right.
- 1:18:31Like, I just like how it's all within the same whatever.
- 1:18:34And then even there's hints too when Donnie Wahlberg, sorry
- 1:18:38Donna Wahlberg is walking through the the house and he's
- 1:18:42seeing all the dead bodies. If you look really close, their
- 1:18:44hands or their skin is decrepit in already, you know.
- 1:18:48Turning from being dead for however long it's been since
- 1:18:52they actually died since like the Are you talking about from
- 1:18:55the first movie or people from? The people in this one.
- 1:18:59People that die in this movie, cuz it's what, Who knows how
- 1:19:02many days later, right, that his son's been taken in?
- 1:19:06This actual thing took place in the house, right?
- 1:19:08Cuz we're watching tapes of it. Donnie Wahlberg's looking at all
- 1:19:12these bodies when he's going through the, you know, the
- 1:19:14building. So if you're paying.
- 1:19:16Close attention before the reveal of it being taped.
- 1:19:19You're seeing and they're showing you that these people
- 1:19:22have been dead for a while. Which swat is realizing that
- 1:19:25they're in the wrong house and they find the footage.
- 1:19:28So they got the location from where this VCR setup was and it
- 1:19:32was all a tape of the game as it played out that was being sent
- 1:19:37to John's location. Eric Matthews is in the bathroom
- 1:19:44now. And he doesn't see Amanda or his
- 1:19:48son in there, but he does see a hand peeking out of the bathtub.
- 1:19:53And when he gets there, he's attacked by somebody in a pink
- 1:19:55mask, the timer back at the location where they'd found
- 1:20:01John. It goes out and a safe pops up
- 1:20:03with Daniel inside with a little oxygen mask on and he's crying
- 1:20:07and. In for a lifetime of trauma.
- 1:20:11And probably like medical related issues too, cuz if he's
- 1:20:13still not recovered from that, like he still seems to be well,
- 1:20:17I mean it's a it was a nerve agent, he still had nerve damage
- 1:20:20happening, you know? Also, is this the only time in
- 1:20:25the Saw franchise in which Jigsaw has used another person
- 1:20:30to get to somebody else in a in a trap?
- 1:20:33Normally he's grabbing someone and then putting them through
- 1:20:36the test. Well, he's grabbing this
- 1:20:38person's son who is obviously has his own problems, but he's
- 1:20:43not being put through a test. The kid's just there because of
- 1:20:45his debt. The only.
- 1:20:46Other thing I can think of is Donnie Wahlberg and Four, what's
- 1:20:50his face's wife, Joyce in Part 7?
- 1:20:53She's in the Iron Bowl. Yeah, Jeff's daughter in Part 3.
- 1:21:01But then then at that point it is also different jigsaws too.
- 1:21:05Yeah. So I guess is yeah.
- 1:21:06Right, right. Eric Matthews has a tape and the
- 1:21:09tape is from Amanda and she's saying that she is a follower of
- 1:21:13Jigsaw and she will be taking his place whenever he passes
- 1:21:17because the the cure to death is immortality and that Eric is her
- 1:21:26is her first Test subject. And then she pops up at the door
- 1:21:28and she says game over and slams it.
- 1:21:30And that's the end of the movie. Of that, they said game over.
- 1:21:34She could have done a little more better a game or she's
- 1:21:37like, game over. She should have been, you know,
- 1:21:40a game over, you know. That's why I wasn't bothered.
- 1:21:44By that's why he tests her again in the next movie.
- 1:21:46He's like you didn't give it enough.
- 1:21:49I was there. That was not a good game over.
- 1:21:51We're starting. Sorry, what are we rated now?
- 1:21:55A. By changing their scores after
- 1:21:56talking about it. I'm gonna pop it up.
- 1:21:58Still feels right. I'm gonna pop mine back to a
- 1:22:01six, I think talking about it, thinking about the how much care
- 1:22:06was put into some aspects of the film being that it was a good,
- 1:22:12it is a good twist you don't see coming like the whole it was
- 1:22:15taped like you don't. There's nothing to show you that
- 1:22:18right now, if you're looking closely.
- 1:22:21Kind of, but not until the final, like, ending part where
- 1:22:24everything's unraveling. So I feel like that's written
- 1:22:28well. There's other parts of the movie
- 1:22:30that I'm just still like, come on guys.
- 1:22:33But I'll I'll give it a six. OK, you said.
- 1:22:36You're bumping yours too, no, I said.
- 1:22:38I'm keeping. It keeping it 7.5.
- 1:22:40OK, I'm keeping mine 8. OK, so we do go up a little bit
- 1:22:44then. Yep, our new average is 7.16.
- 1:22:49OK. All right.
- 1:22:52That was. Did you do that in your head?
- 1:22:54No, she has a calculator here. Cheating.
- 1:22:57I do our averages in my head, but dividing by three is a pain
- 1:23:02in the ass. Talia, honestly, she just wasn't
- 1:23:07into this movie. She laughed.
- 1:23:08She was asleep. She needed to go out at about 18
- 1:23:11minutes. She came back and slept some
- 1:23:13more. And then she's like, I'm just,
- 1:23:14I'm going to the bedroom, guys. I think Talia is gonna give
- 1:23:18this. She's gonna give this a three,
- 1:23:24no, a four, because that's the number of doors in our hallway.
- 1:23:27So she's like playing her, her on version of salty.
- 1:23:30She's like, which doors are open for me to go through?
- 1:23:33Yeah, this one, right. Here's the walk all the time she
- 1:23:35can't get. Into this one.
- 1:23:38Zoe was very into it. She liked it.
- 1:23:40She was. She watched the entire thing.
- 1:23:42She didn't leave the room. So cuddling she was feeling it.
- 1:23:45Which one's the cat and which one's the dog?
- 1:23:47Talia's the dog. Zoe's the cat.
- 1:23:50OK. Who did everybody relate to?
- 1:23:54Jigsaw I just want to kill everybody.
- 1:23:56Wait, no. Jigsaw Because I'm totally not a
- 1:24:00murderer. Right, that's a hard ones in a
- 1:24:03movie like this, right? Because there is a cavalcade of
- 1:24:06cast in this, like everybody's different, but they're all
- 1:24:10shitty kind of people. I mean, most saw movies,
- 1:24:12everybody is in the trap because they're a shitty person, right?
- 1:24:16Not to say everybody's a St. but.
- 1:24:19I don't. I don't.
- 1:24:20I don't know. Jonas seemed pretty solid.
- 1:24:23We never found out what he was in for.
- 1:24:24True. And he was definitely trying to
- 1:24:26be the mediator. I think I would be Jonas in this
- 1:24:28situation. What the fuck?
- 1:24:29Did he do to calm? Did he only get put in here
- 1:24:32because he was like he had charges, like planted against
- 1:24:35him? Yeah.
- 1:24:36Is that his crime for being a victim?
- 1:24:38We don't hear anything about his background.
- 1:24:40That's a little bit fucked up, Amanda.
- 1:24:42Come on. Yeah.
- 1:24:43Well, I think all these people were being used for the game.
- 1:24:46Let's be real like. Some of them are shitty, but
- 1:24:48like even 7th Heaven. Like what did she do?
- 1:24:51She seemed OK. I'm gonna relate to Starship
- 1:24:55Troopers. She she seemed level headed and
- 1:24:58the only person who was like by the book and trying to do
- 1:25:01everything correctly. Dina.
- 1:25:04Dina Myers. Is that her name?
- 1:25:05No. Yeah, I relate to her.
- 1:25:08Even. She was kind of a Dick, though,
- 1:25:10in the way she brought Matthews into it.
- 1:25:12Yeah. No, no, no.
- 1:25:14She was fine. I'm gonna relate to Adam's
- 1:25:18corpse because I'd be dead before this thing even started.
- 1:25:23Perfect. No, Travis, you would.
- 1:25:24Honestly, you'd probably be Xavier and I would be Laura,
- 1:25:27because I would succumb to the nerve damage before I could die
- 1:25:31from any of the traps, and you would somehow not be as affected
- 1:25:35by the nerve agent as everybody else, Because you're never sick.
- 1:25:39Ever. And you never react to like,
- 1:25:43vaccines or anything. You you're just like I'm fine.
- 1:25:46I. Do tend to take a bat to
- 1:25:49everything in the house and cut off a large chunks of skin on
- 1:25:53the back of the exactly. It's uncanny, apparently.
- 1:25:56You gotta take all the skin off. Yeah, yeah, that's Italian.
- 1:25:59That's Italian. Uh, OK, fuck it.
- 1:26:03Whatever. No, I'm sticking with Adam.
- 1:26:05OK, Do we have a new tagline? Hmm.
- 1:26:09I really like just when you thought it was safe to go back
- 1:26:12in the torture dungeon. That's pretty funny, I'm not
- 1:26:15gonna lie. Let's think.
- 1:26:16Let's think here. Saw two.
- 1:26:18We did it again. Twice the fun, twice the murder.
- 1:26:21There might be twice the murder actually in this movie.
- 1:26:25Oh no, I got it. Wait, game over again?
- 1:26:30Game over. That would totally be A tag on
- 1:26:34that they would use for this. Are you checking to see if that
- 1:26:36was one? Yeah, I think.
- 1:26:40The Ron Burgundy, right? Game over.
- 1:26:44Yeah. I'd be OK with that unless you
- 1:26:48got something. I don't know.
- 1:26:49I just think they knocked it out of the park with that one
- 1:26:52tagline. Yeah, we can't use it
- 1:26:54unfortunately. We gotta What's another movie
- 1:26:57that has like a sequel that has, well, that kind of, I think
- 1:27:03Steve's kind of plays in the Halloweens, because I was gonna
- 1:27:05say The Night saw came home again.
- 1:27:09OK, nice. OK, that's the tagline that
- 1:27:13started the whole is. Rewrite the tag or let's read
- 1:27:16the taglines. Yeah, the night he came home.
- 1:27:19Again, Jigsaw Saws. Again, I've never really put
- 1:27:26together The fact that they call him Jigsaw in the movie is
- 1:27:29called Saw, but they're talking about a saw in the original
- 1:27:32movie. Because that's the whole point
- 1:27:34of the movie is he wants you to cut off your foot with a fucking
- 1:27:37SAW. But then.
- 1:27:39His name is Jigsaw, like a jigsaw piece that he cuts out of
- 1:27:42his victims when they're dead, but he doesn't use a saw to do
- 1:27:45that. I wonder if they were doing that
- 1:27:46intentionally or if they were just like huh, happy, happy
- 1:27:49coincidence. Look at that.
- 1:27:51Look what we did. Yeah, we did that on purpose.
- 1:27:52Yep. No, I feel like it was probably
- 1:27:54intentional because of the name Jigsaw, plus the use of a saw in
- 1:27:58the first one. Which trap do you think you
- 1:28:01would survive? OK, so we're not doing, we're
- 1:28:04not doing dream sequels because it's our franchise song.
- 1:28:07So which trap do you you think you would survive?
- 1:28:09So let's lay them out. We got the one in the opening
- 1:28:12death mask. We have Obie's fire chamber one.
- 1:28:17We have the syringe pit and we have her sticking her hand up in
- 1:28:22the We also have Detective Matthews.
- 1:28:25That's true, yeah, talking to Jigsaw for two hours.
- 1:28:29So I think realistically, if you're Eric Matthews from Boy
- 1:28:34Meets World. You are.
- 1:28:37If I was him, I'm obviously if I don't have the same detriment as
- 1:28:41him, right? Like, I'm I'm me in this
- 1:28:42situation. I'm not going to argue and yell
- 1:28:45at this guy. I'm going to be like, what's the
- 1:28:46rule? Oh, sit here and talk to you,
- 1:28:48Okay. Let's talk.
- 1:28:50Do you think I would let him talk?
- 1:28:51Because you know what, no offense to anything, this dude
- 1:28:54is kind of interesting, right? Like he has.
- 1:28:59What's the word I'm looking for? An ability to make crazy shit.
- 1:29:04So let's talk if that's the name of the game.
- 1:29:07The second one is the no. You get one, you get one.
- 1:29:11You can serve one you get. Well, then I'm gonna choose the
- 1:29:17the fire, because I'm gonna go in there and take the one and go
- 1:29:20you guys get the other one. It's right there.
- 1:29:22Just grab it. I hope it's fine.
- 1:29:24Do it. And if that guy's gonna threaten
- 1:29:26me, I'll be like, well then here, here's yours and whatever.
- 1:29:29I think I could survive the McDonald's cup lid because I
- 1:29:33wouldn't put both my hands in there.
- 1:29:36Even though there are, so are you.
- 1:29:38Are you? Yeah.
- 1:29:39Are you affected by the toxins so you're not thinking straight
- 1:29:42like her, or are you just going in there like you are now and
- 1:29:45going all right, one hand goes in.
- 1:29:46Uh, obviously that's not coming out unless I press things
- 1:29:49underneath of it with my other hand.
- 1:29:51I like no matter how affected by the nerve toxin I am, I don't
- 1:29:54think I'm just gonna walk into a jigsaw trap blindly the way she
- 1:29:59did because she just, like, barreled her way in there.
- 1:30:05Also, you're going in with the idea that you know of Jigsaw.
- 1:30:08These people do not. Also true, but they'd already
- 1:30:11learned that you needed to follow the rules and that their
- 1:30:13traps were pretty sadistic, so. I would like to say that I could
- 1:30:18do the one just sitting there and talking to him for two
- 1:30:20hours, but you do have to also put into like you have to
- 1:30:25recognize that somebody that you love.
- 1:30:29Is being held hostage somewhere, and this person is giving you
- 1:30:32very like, lame conversation and being very evasive of any
- 1:30:39discussion of that. You have no reason to trust that
- 1:30:42at the end of the two hours. Exactly what you say.
- 1:30:45Yeah, and I would. I would get very frustrated with
- 1:30:47that. And I don't know if I could make
- 1:30:49it for two hours doing that. So it's a tough one.
- 1:30:52Shit, dude. I think it's got to be that one.
- 1:30:55That's the only one I think I could survive because the other
- 1:30:57ones, I'm screwed. I don't think I can do any of
- 1:30:59those other ones. I can't survive the syringe pit.
- 1:31:01I would put both of my hands in there because there are two
- 1:31:04things there and I would just think, OK, I guess both hands go
- 1:31:07in there and I can't cut my eye open to get a key.
- 1:31:12I'm just like, fucking kill me. I'm not going to go through
- 1:31:14that. Yeah, I either have to do that
- 1:31:18or I'm not going to make it. OK All right.
- 1:31:21Now it's time for reviews. All right, so you pulled an
- 1:31:24Internet review. Yes, this is a one out of 10
- 1:31:29user review on IMDb. This is absolutely one of the
- 1:31:33worst movies I've ever seen in my life.
- 1:31:35I liked the first one, but I mean, they really messed it up
- 1:31:37bad with the space of garbage. And now there's the third one
- 1:31:40coming out this year, and I hope to God it's not bad as bad or
- 1:31:43worse. The worst part of Saw Two was
- 1:31:45the end. Sequels usually suck.
- 1:31:47This one especially did. It lives up nothing to the
- 1:31:49original, it's just plain stupid.
- 1:31:51I expected better, but I got a huge disappointment.
- 1:31:53Shawnee Smith was a lot better in the first one.
- 1:31:55The killer is a geek and the killing scene sucks.
- 1:32:01Yes, they're bloody gory, but what a horror movie is that.
- 1:32:05This movie is a big rip off. I like my killers to be cool.
- 1:32:09I no, no fucking nerds, no geek. I do kind of like that as a
- 1:32:13review because like if you you know some people like the this
- 1:32:18big brawny slasher types like Jason Voorhees and you know, but
- 1:32:23then you've also got your your John Doe's and John Cramer's of
- 1:32:27the world that are just geeks. You.
- 1:32:29Know it's funny. I've never seen a movie in which
- 1:32:32the bad guy is just a nerd out for revenge murdering like.
- 1:32:38Dudes, UM, law abiding citizen. Really.
- 1:32:44Not really. Yeah, really.
- 1:32:46But he's not, like, a nerd like he is a nerd.
- 1:32:51Like did you guys know Y = M X plus B?
- 1:32:53Like, I want that shit. I mean, maybe not like a horror
- 1:32:58movie, but like, uh, Jesse Eisenberg's Lex Luthor.
- 1:33:02Shit, I was actually just thinking about the Spider Man,
- 1:33:04The Amazing Spider Man 2 with the Jamie Foxx turning into
- 1:33:08Electro like before that. That was like the biggest nerd
- 1:33:10they ever put on screen. But then again, it's still Jamie
- 1:33:12Foxx. Like, you're like, looking at
- 1:33:14that shit right there. Like.
- 1:33:15Come on, Jamie Foxx ain't no nerd.
- 1:33:18I got Internet or listener reviews.
- 1:33:20OK, so I got two reviews, one on Instagram and one on Twitter.
- 1:33:25So I'm gonna start off with the Twitter talk Wheely boobs and he
- 1:33:30says. This is the first one I saw in
- 1:33:32theaters. We watched the first a couple
- 1:33:34weeks before this came out and we're pumped.
- 1:33:36The first was dope and this one didn't disappoint.
- 1:33:39This one was since and had a hell of A twist ending again.
- 1:33:42Oof, the scene where Amanda gets tossed in the needles.
- 1:33:45I think that's everybody's most memorable scene in this movie.
- 1:33:48Yeah, I mean, I I remember watching the trailer and that
- 1:33:50was like the trailer was her in that pit.
- 1:33:53Was it? Yeah.
- 1:33:54I mean, that's a good way to sell the movie right there.
- 1:33:55I would watch that shit. OK.
- 1:33:58And the final review is Michael E Howard.
- 1:34:01Says sequels can be tricky. Not all live up to the
- 1:34:04expectations of the original Saw Two is the exception.
- 1:34:07From the moment the first trap starts, you are drawn back into
- 1:34:10the world of John Cramer. This is the first in the series
- 1:34:14that starts to draw out the story and the War of Jigsaw
- 1:34:17right from the start with The Death Mask Trap.
- 1:34:20See death mask. Film moves at an even pace.
- 1:34:24The multiple twists make a second watch worth it.
- 1:34:26The needle trap since shivers down my spine.
- 1:34:28The original is definitely my number one, but only slightly
- 1:34:31more than saw to 9.5 all right. Yeah, thank you for calling it
- 1:34:36Death Mask and backing me up on that.
- 1:34:38And also yeah, the fucking needle trap.
- 1:34:41I do think that this is probably, if you're thinking
- 1:34:44like if you're being objective, I would say this might be the
- 1:34:48second best in the series. But there are some that get.
- 1:34:51Close to it at least. I'm going to have to go back and
- 1:34:54watch them again because again, I remember talking about this
- 1:34:57and thinking this being, yeah, up there as well.
- 1:35:00But after watching it, I'm like, I don't know, there's a couple
- 1:35:05traps that I'm like, yo, these are tight from other, you know,
- 1:35:09movies. But I'm not quite sure that the
- 1:35:11whole movie is as good as the Trap.
- 1:35:15I just remember one of the endings where the.
- 1:35:19I think it's the main guy who's who's like the cop.
- 1:35:21Well, no, he's he. Everybody thinks he's jigsaw the
- 1:35:25one cop, but it turns out to be the other guy, and he gets put
- 1:35:27into that glass. Often at the end or whatever.
- 1:35:30And then it like, slowly not collapses but like squeezes him
- 1:35:34together and he's got his arms up against it and his fucking
- 1:35:36forearms just like break apart. I was like.
- 1:35:39That one, That's five. Yeah.
- 1:35:41OK. OK, that's a good one too.
- 1:35:43It's got Luke from Gilmore Girls and Darla from Buffy.
- 1:35:47Yeah, right. All right.
- 1:35:50So that wraps up our coverage of Salt, too.
