- 0:00[SPEAKER_00]: Jacksonville, Jack Wars fans.
- 0:01[SPEAKER_00]: Welcome in to Dove All Daily, presented by GenJag.com.
- 0:04[SPEAKER_00]: I'm Jordan Lua, thanks so much for being here Wednesday, May 27th.
- 0:08[SPEAKER_00]: Almost June, absolutely unbelievable.
- 0:10[SPEAKER_00]: We do have Jack Wars OTA number one in the books.
- 0:14[SPEAKER_00]: The only OTA that media was allowed to attend this week.
- 0:19[SPEAKER_00]: So we'll get back out there next week, certainly.
- 0:23[SPEAKER_00]: But we've got a video already where like I gave my instant analysis on everything I saw at practice.
- 0:31[SPEAKER_00]: Now we're going into what Liam Cohen had to say after practice and we are focusing on what Liam Cohen had to say because ultimately as a head coach
- 0:42[SPEAKER_00]: He provides a lot of insight and actually quality sound bites and clips to kind of take away from his press conferences almost every single time he's at the podium.
- 0:54[SPEAKER_00]: So I really respect that and appreciate that about him.
- 0:56[SPEAKER_00]: Not only like for my job, but like,
- 0:59[SPEAKER_00]: In my opinion, the way he communicates with the media is the way he's communicating with the fans as well, right?
- 1:07[SPEAKER_00]: Because when you're communicating with the media, the fans are able to watch that, they're able to obviously watch every press conference.
- 1:14[SPEAKER_00]: And so if he's giving good answers to the media, that means he's giving fans insight.
- 1:18[SPEAKER_00]: And I think ultimately, that's what it's all about when it comes to the media's job as giving the fans.
- 1:27[SPEAKER_00]: you know, everything that they can ask for.
- 1:29[SPEAKER_00]: And so I think Liam Cohen does that in a big way or at least like help supports the media that way and by extension the fans in that way.
- 1:37[SPEAKER_00]: So I just really respect and appreciate that.
- 1:39[SPEAKER_00]: But did you want to dive into this stuff?
- 1:41[SPEAKER_00]: Really appreciate y'all tuning in.
- 1:42[SPEAKER_00]: If you enjoy the content, please like and subscribe.
- 1:45[SPEAKER_00]: And also check out jingjag.com.
- 1:46[SPEAKER_00]: Pick up some new dovall gear like the hat I am wearing right now.
- 1:50[SPEAKER_00]: Also, hit that high button, helps out a ton here on YouTube.
- 1:55[SPEAKER_00]: So press conference takeaways, recap reactions, whatever you want to call it.
- 2:02[SPEAKER_00]: Talked about the chemistry between Trevor Lawrence and Brian Thomas Jr. And that's something that I had been talking about for the last several weeks leading up to actually getting out on the grass.
- 2:11[SPEAKER_00]: One of the things I was going to be heavily looking at and kind of
- 2:15[SPEAKER_00]: evaluating and Liam said they got off to a great start.
- 2:19[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, you had the interception yesterday as well, which highly encouraged, if you have not watched my analysis recap of practice, go check that out.
- 2:27[SPEAKER_00]: If you have not watched the press conference yesterday, which featured Liam Cohen Trevor Lawrence, and Grant Yedinsky, go check that out, come back, right?
- 2:34[SPEAKER_00]: But chemistry between Trevor Lawrence and Brian Thomas Jr.
- 2:39[SPEAKER_00]: It was on point outside of one play, and that was a very early deep shot throw Trevor Lawrence to BTJ was intercepted by Eric Murray.
- 2:47[SPEAKER_00]: After that, I mean, it was lights out.
- 2:50[SPEAKER_00]: they connected short and immediate deep.
- 2:53[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, there was another basically the same situation and Lawrence got it in there, perfect though.
- 2:59[SPEAKER_00]: I think the first row was really more on Trevor than BTJ, but BTJ looked comfortable, looked good.
- 3:05[SPEAKER_00]: Now, do you want to take away too much from an unpatited practice?
- 3:09[SPEAKER_00]: No, but is it good?
- 3:12[SPEAKER_00]: that they looked good together yesterday versus not looking good, yes, it is.
- 3:17[SPEAKER_00]: It's what you want to see out there, absolutely.
- 3:20[SPEAKER_00]: So I was encouraged by what I saw yesterday.
- 3:23[SPEAKER_00]: I think Liam Cohen also was and he said he was asked, what is the most important thing for Trevor Lawrence over the next several weeks?
- 3:30[SPEAKER_00]: And it's establishing that chemistry with Brian Thomas Jr. And I love that answer.
- 3:42[SPEAKER_00]: Like, if they can get that chemistry down, they can be a dynamic quarterback in receiver combo.
- 3:49[SPEAKER_00]: And you already have some really dynamic receivers.
- 3:52[SPEAKER_00]: And one other thing, Liam Cohen pointed out was just, making sure there's like a super high level understanding of how each receiver is gonna run each route.
- 4:01[SPEAKER_00]: And how they're gonna run those routes and combinations are just like a higher level of understanding there basically in chemistry with the receivers.
- 4:09[SPEAKER_00]: Running back room, Chris Rodriguez wasn't there.
- 4:13[SPEAKER_00]: he was asked about that Liam Cohen wasn't he said you know injury report will come out at some point which I don't think that's actually fair to say because injury report won't be out for a very long time but maybe we'll get some more information on Chris Rodriguez why he wasn't there but even with him not being there Liam Cohen said the running back room is wide open.
- 4:36[SPEAKER_00]: To me, that says, obviously, my best guess at how things were going to shake out, probably how things will shake out, is that you're going to see basaltoon and Chris Rodriguez the most with Lee Quint Allen being the third guy.
- 4:50[SPEAKER_00]: But I think they're given Lee Quint Allen in everybody, because I think that there's six running backs on the roster that could make an NFL team, I really do.
- 5:02[SPEAKER_00]: You know, beyond the top three, you have DJ Dallas, who's been in the NFL for a long time, helped the Jaguar last year at the end of the season.
- 5:10[SPEAKER_00]: Amir Abdulla, who's one of the best returners in the game right now, and Jamari Taylor, who I think is a very balanced back, undrafted free agent, should have probably been drafted.
- 5:19[SPEAKER_00]: So, he said the running back room is wide open.
- 5:22[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's wide open for the top three guys, really.
- 5:25[SPEAKER_00]: And maybe if somebody plays well enough, they decide to keep a fourth on the roster,
- 5:32[SPEAKER_00]: I think the biggest takeaway is Lee Quatt Allen is fighting for more reps, fighting for more run on the field on game days.
- 5:41[SPEAKER_00]: And I think he's going to make it difficult.
- 5:44[SPEAKER_00]: Make it difficult for those top two running backs and make it difficult for the jacks is a coaching staff to keep him off the field because of the way he plays.
- 5:52[SPEAKER_00]: So I think that's a good spot to be in for the running back room.
- 5:54[SPEAKER_00]: But yes, we'd like to see Chris Radrie guys out there.
- 5:58[SPEAKER_00]: was asked about, like, with the offensive line continuity being as strong as it is, all these guys back, like your entire starting lineup, plus like three, four, five deep.
- 6:11[SPEAKER_00]: How does that help at this time?
- 6:12[SPEAKER_00]: And Cohen said, really, you can't tell without the, like, kidding and toughness of physicality and stuff right now because it's unpatited, but the offensive line calls, communication from Robert Hainesy out, the blitz pickups, things like that way ahead of last year, and that stuff needs to be way ahead of last year, because that's something the Jaguar struggled with throughout the summer.
- 6:36[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not saying Hainesy struggled with it, but like as a group, they struggled with it.
- 6:40[SPEAKER_00]: and they struggled with it into the regular season.
- 6:43[SPEAKER_00]: They got it cleaned up pretty good down the stretch, but that was a big issue for the Jaguars early on last year and really, at least halfway through the season.
- 6:53[SPEAKER_00]: So I think that's a really good thing, absolutely.
- 6:57[SPEAKER_00]: Talked about Caleb Ransogging back on the field and he looked very explosive and athletic and he is, like people, I don't know if you remember, but this is a player who,
- 7:08[SPEAKER_00]: ran in the four threes, had a 40 inch vert, had over 200 pounds, he's a hell of an athlete.
- 7:15[SPEAKER_00]: And I think the thing about the jag wars, what they love about him is, beyond being a hell of an athlete, he prepares the right way.
- 7:22[SPEAKER_00]: They said he was in the playbook all last year, he was mentally preparing all last year during like his pseudo red shirt because he got injured and had to miss the entire season.
- 7:32[SPEAKER_00]: But it feels like
- 7:36[SPEAKER_00]: these next few weeks are very important for him, Liam Cohen said, because mental reps only get you so far, but he's somebody that prepared the right way.
- 7:47[SPEAKER_00]: And so they're excited to have him out there.
- 7:49[SPEAKER_00]: I'm excited to see him.
- 7:51[SPEAKER_00]: I was very high on the pick.
- 7:53[SPEAKER_00]: I thought that
- 7:54[SPEAKER_00]: You know, had played outside corner, had played nickel, played safety at the senior bowl, somebody who doesn't shy away from conduct, somebody who has a lead athleticism, who is where he's supposed to be when he's supposed to be there, all these things kind of add up to a pretty impressive prospect and I'm excited to see him.
- 8:11[SPEAKER_00]: Travis Hunter, I had to talk about Travis Hunter, of course, getting the mental reps out there on the field.
- 8:16[SPEAKER_00]: I mentioned this yesterday, during practice, you could see how excited Travis Hunter was and how locked in he was every single play, standing behind the offense and he has a mic, he has a headset, he can hear the calls, or maybe not a headset, but he has a mic, he can hear the calls, he can communicate all that stuff.
- 8:35[SPEAKER_00]: So he was really going through it
- 8:41[SPEAKER_00]: Liam Cohen talked about how he wanted to get on the mic and start talking about the play calls and stuff.
- 8:46[SPEAKER_00]: But one thing Liam Cohen mentioned I thought was good.
- 8:49[SPEAKER_00]: They expanded their virtual room, which like literally puts you in a situation where you're almost in like a football game simulation.
- 8:57[SPEAKER_00]: You're not running, but like you're getting to see it all, like from the corner back perspective, from the wide receiver perspective,
- 9:04[SPEAKER_00]: Travis Hunter can go in that virtual room and feel kind of like he's out there on the field in a real game setting.
- 9:10[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that that's pretty cool that they have that technology and they kind of expanded that room, made it bigger and more accessible for this season.
- 9:19[SPEAKER_00]: And then talking about Trevor Lawrence a little bit more in terms of like what they are doing with the playbook, which Trevor Lawrence this year and now that they're in year two,
- 9:28[SPEAKER_00]: So it's not really expanding.
- 9:32[SPEAKER_00]: It's more of a refined focus, Liam Cohen said, which I thought was a good answer.
- 9:36[SPEAKER_00]: So they're focusing on the things they did well last year, obviously.
- 9:40[SPEAKER_00]: He said they're focusing on getting that connection with Brian Thomas Jr. down a little bit more chemistry.
- 9:45[SPEAKER_00]: especially down the field.
- 9:47[SPEAKER_00]: And they're also taking, there's a bunch of things that they shelved as they call it last year.
- 9:53[SPEAKER_00]: Took out of the offense during the middle of the season when they were doing a self scout trying to get ready for the back half of the season and make Trevor Lawrence and the offense operate at their highest potential that they could for 2025 with the way things were going.
- 10:09[SPEAKER_00]: So they took a lot of things out of the playbook as well that weren't
- 10:15[SPEAKER_00]: And now, they're putting some of those things back in and trying to work on those things that they shelved to kind of make the offense more complete than it was towards the end of last year.
- 10:27[SPEAKER_00]: So they're trying to work on that stuff and I think that they're gonna work on it and if it's going better, they'll continue to push some of that stuff.
- 10:36[SPEAKER_00]: If it's not going well, they'll probably, again, shelf some of that stuff and then go back to it.
- 10:40[SPEAKER_00]: the following year.
- 10:42[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, attacking those things that maybe weren't doing as well for this offensive for Trevor Lawrence during during 2020, 25 is definitely something that they're working on.
- 10:53[SPEAKER_00]: So I think it was a good first step.
- 10:55[SPEAKER_00]: Love here in Liam Cohen, talk ball.
- 10:58[SPEAKER_00]: Highly encourage y'all to go check out that press conference.
- 11:00[SPEAKER_00]: Really appreciate y'all tuning in.
- 11:02[SPEAKER_00]: Supporting the channel means the world to me.
