- 0:00Jenn: Hey everyone.
- 0:00Jenn: Welcome back to Travel Tip Tuesday with the Travel Mug Podcast.
- 0:05Jenn: I, as you know, if you've listened to last week's episode, I have recently returned from my trip to Florida, and you may or may not know that I have three animals at home.
- 0:19Jenn: Uh, So we have two cats.
- 0:22Jenn: One very senior, 18 year old cat, one 10 year old cat, and then a new dog who is like one to two years old.
- 0:31Jenn: So obviously I have to think about them when we travel, they need to be cared for.
- 0:37Jenn: So in the past we have always relied on family and friends to help us care for our animals when we travel.
- 0:44Jenn: But now, especially with the dog that we adopted in July, it, it feels like too big of an ask to ask someone to care for three animals.
- 0:54Jenn: So of course, I turn to the internet.
- 0:58Jenn: As one does, and I found rover.com.
- 1:02Jenn: So basically it's a website that connects you with pet care in your neighborhood.
- 1:08Jenn: So whether it's boarding, house, sitting even like drop-in visits and dog walking if if you're just at work and not traveling.
- 1:16Jenn: So, Everything is done on the website or the app.
- 1:21Jenn: So from booking, communication with the person and payment is all done through them.
- 1:28Jenn: What I really loved is the sitters have background checks.
- 1:32Jenn: You can read reviews, there's insurance um, for vet care or property damage to the pet owner's home if it's caused by the sitter or dog walker.
- 1:42Jenn: So, yeah, we've been using this service over the last couple of months.
- 1:46Jenn: We've done a couple of different sitters and we've always had really great experiences.
- 1:51Jenn: So the sitter that we used while we were in Florida checked in with us every day.
- 1:55Jenn: She sent us photos and she also took really good care of our house.
- 2:00Jenn: which is really,
- 2:01Meggan: we love that.
- 2:02Meggan: We love, like, you know, our pets being taken care of, but also feeling secure that your house is being taken care of as well.
- 2:09Meggan: The lights are on someone's home and no one's gonna break in.
- 2:12Meggan: Like, we like that too.
- 2:13Jenn: Yeah, for sure.
- 2:14Jenn: And especially in the winter, you know, I'm not, I don't wanna be worried about my pipes freezing and bursting or something.
- 2:20Meggan: right, right.
- 2:21Jenn: So Rover, I, I looked into it.
- 2:23Jenn: So Rover is actually available.
- 2:25Jenn: All across Canada and in nine other countries, so U S A, Italy, the UK, France, other ones as well.
- 2:35Jenn: And listen, I live in a small town, so if I could find multiple dog sitters in my tiny town, I'm sure you can find.
- 2:44Jenn: Meggan: If I could find somebody Seriously.
- 2:49Jenn: Yeah, I just, I, I have a lot of friends who have pets who have never.
- 2:56Jenn: Of this service and actually another one of my friends used Rover.
- 3:01Jenn: It typically they do dogs and cats.
- 3:04Jenn: My friend used it for her cat and her chickens.
- 3:07Jenn: She found someone to help her care for her chickens while she was traveling.
- 3:10Jenn: So it's, it is really great.
- 3:12Jenn: I'm gonna pop a little link in the shownotes.
- 3:15Jenn: Um, Where if you book through it, you, you will save $20 on your first visit.
- 3:20Jenn: In full transparency, I will get a $20 credit as well.
- 3:23Jenn: Like, it's not, this is not sponsored by Rover.
- 3:26Jenn: We just, we had a really good experience and I think a lot of people don't know that this is out there and I can't like say enough how amazing it is to know that your animals and your, your space, your home is being cared for while you travel.
- 3:45Jenn: Like.
