RAGBRAI’s 53rd ride is a paradox: shorter miles but steeper hills, kicking off July 19th and ending July 25th. Don’t miss the Expo on July 18th in Onawa for packet pickup and flyovers. E-bikes are welcome (with Iowa law compliance and self-sufficiency in mind), though some riders still carry baggage about them. Daily routes run 6 AM–6 PM, patrolled by medics and state troopers, with optional gravel add-ons. Each day ends in a charming Iowa town—Day 5 hits 87 miles, with century loops for the bold.
