- 0:09Company, all things The Tesla Cyber Truck recently faced off
- 0:13against the Baja 1001 of the most demanding off road trails
- 0:17in the world. But two cyber trucks, fresh off
- 0:19the assembly line and a Starlink Mobility unit Tesla live stream
- 0:23the test drive that took the trucks through a variety of
- 0:26terrain stretching up to 900 miles.
- 0:30And guess what? The video has guarded over 2
- 0:32million views so far. So let's start by talking about
- 0:36this incredible test drive. An engineer from Tesla was on
- 0:40board and set the tone at the beginning, saying success is
- 0:43uncertain but excitement is guaranteed, and the terrain they
- 0:46drove through did justice to that statement.

- 0:54even salt ponds. And the route started in San
- 0:56Diego and had been ongoing for about a week when Tesla went
- 1:00live with the video feed. It's not just a walk in the
- 1:03park. This is a strenuous test
- 1:06designed to push the Cyber Truck completely to its limits Now.
- 1:11The cyber Truck showcased its off road capabilities, which
- 1:14include air suspension and active dampers, and the terrain
- 1:17they navigated was as varied as you can imagine.
- 1:20According to the engineer, they went through Baja deserts, sandy
- 1:23washes, and rocky ridges. They even made it through
- 1:27forest, filled with giant cacti and crossed several mountains.
- 1:32It wasn't all smooth sailing though.
- 1:35The team reported 2 flat tires during the journey.
- 1:37But even then, the Tesla engineer declared the test a
- 1:40resounding success. And this adventurous trek served
- 1:43as a compelling real world test for the Cyber Truck, showing off
- 1:47its versatility and resilience in a range of challenging
- 1:51environments. Now let's backtrack a bit.
- 1:55Cybertruck has been in the spotlight since it was first
- 1:57introduced in Texas. After overcoming supply chain
- 2:00delays, they had postponed its 2019 launch.
- 2:04Tesla CEO Elon Musk said it was expected to be released sometime
- 2:07this year, and it was unveiled at a grand opening party of
- 2:11Tesla's Giga, Texas manufacturing facility on April
- 2:147th, 2022. The event was a mega bash that
- 2:18attracted thousands of electric car enthusiasts, and given the
- 2:21anticipation, Tesla took the opportunity to host this test
- 2:25drive. The route was carefully mapped
- 2:27out with charging stations set up at hotels along the way, and
- 2:31as the engineer pointed out, the trip cover the entire Baja
- 2:35Peninsula down to Cabo. Clocking in at 12180 miles, This
- 2:40makes it a replicable route for any Tesla owner intrigued enough
- 2:44to try it for themselves. Now let's talk about what makes
- 2:47the Cyber Truck a standout vehicle in the 1st place.
- 2:50The truck uses ultra strong glass and a polymer layered
- 2:54composite designed to absorb and redirect impact.

- 3:14It can handle a payload of up to 3500 pounds and has a towing
- 3:18capacity of over £14,000. Plus it includes onboard power
- 3:24and compressed air. And the Tesla engineer involved
- 3:27in the test drive summed it up by calling the trucks hardcore,
- 3:30Super fun and super reliable. Now, according to Elon Musk
- 3:35during a Tesla shareholder meeting in May, the company aims
- 3:38to produce around 250,000 cyber trucks each year, subject to
- 3:43demand and subject to change. And when first announced,
- 3:47prospective buyers can reserve the truck for an initial deposit
- 3:50of just $100, originally slated to cost under 40,000.
- 3:55Current estimates by auto research firm Kelley Blue Book
- 3:58suggests that the starting price may be a little bit closer to
- 4:0250,000. Share prices of Tesla which had
- 4:05risen more than 110% year over year, saw a minor dip of nearly
- 4:102% in a pre market trading lately.
- 4:14Now this however has damped the enthusiasm around Tesla's
- 4:17project. The cyber trucks capabilities

- 4:23market interest alike. Now despite all the buzz Tesla
- 4:28shares, they took that little slight dip.
- 4:31Elon Musk himself has expressed confidence in the Cyber Truck.
- 4:35In response to a report that did not include any legacy
- 4:38automakers in the top ten competitive list, Musk tweeted
- 4:42Chinese automakers are the most competitive in our experience,
- 4:46showing he believes Tesla's innovations are ahead of the
- 4:49curve. Next, we have an absolutely
- 4:51fascinating story that touches upon our unending quest to
- 4:55understand the universe and our place in it.
- 4:58It's about NASA's seven-year mission, Osiris Rex to the
- 5:01asteroid Bennu, and the bounty of scientific treasures.
- 5:05It is brought back to our Earth now, the mission recently
- 5:09concluded, revealing some unexpected finds that could
- 5:12reshape our understanding of planetary sciences.
- 5:15And it also opens up a world of possibilities for future space
- 5:18exploration. Astronomers and scientists are
- 5:21exhilarated over the initial results coming out of the Osiris
- 5:25Rex mission. The spacecraft's voyage to Bennu
- 5:28culminated in September, when a capsule carrying rock samples
- 5:32and space dust safely landed in the Utah desert.
- 5:36The samples were already showing compelling findings, offering
- 5:39hints to some of the biggest questions in science.
- 5:42How did Earth become a water planet?
- 5:45What are the resources available on rich asteroids like Bennu?
- 5:48And what does this mean for the future of space missions now?
- 5:52Interestingly, the Osiris Rex mission has uncovered a lot more
- 5:56material than anticipated. Upon opening the external
- 5:59container, scientists found samples that had actually leaked
- 6:03out. This happy accident allowed for
- 6:05a quick preliminary analysis, which revealed some intriguing
- 6:09discoveries. The asteroid bits included
- 6:12waterlogged clay minerals that could explain Earth's water
- 6:16origins. Asteroids similar to Bennu may
- 6:19have crashed into Earth long ago, filling our oceans and
- 6:22making our planet habitable. Now, in addition to this,
- 6:26scientists found sulphur and magnetite in the samples.

- 6:52A great thing about the Benue mission is it's multiple
- 6:55dimensions. NASA and various corporations
- 6:57have their eyes set on asteroid mining as a way to propel human

- 7:07on similar asteroids. More importantly, we'll also

- 8:05asteroids, although in smaller quantities.
- 8:08Comparing samples from different missions could provide a fuller
- 8:11picture of the variety and distribution of resources in the
- 8:14asteroid belt, enabling a more comprehensive strategy for space
- 8:18resource exploitation. Now the mission to Bennu isn't
- 8:22only about understanding our origins or fueling the future

- 8:30category of asteroids with orbits that might intersect with
- 8:34Earth's. According to scientific
- 8:35calculations, there's a one in 2700 chance that Bennu could
- 8:40collide with Earth by September 2182.
- 8:44While not a planet killer like the one that eradicated the
- 8:46dinosaurs, Bennu is large enough to destroy several cities or
- 8:50generate massive tsunamis. Now, understanding the nature
- 8:54and trajectory of asteroids like Bennu helps to develop
- 8:56strategies to alter the past of potential Earth impacting
- 9:00objects. Scientists could use the

- 11:59suits for NASA's upcoming Artemis 3 mission.

- 12:07SpaceX Starship rocket, and this will include the first woman to
- 12:11walk on the lunar surface. Now, it seems fashion and space

- 12:18Prada recently announced their partnership with Axiom Space to
- 12:21design space suits for NASA's Artemis missions.
- 12:24Now this is going to happen in 2025, and the mission is
- 12:27historic in many ways. Not only does it mark humanity's
- 12:30return to the moon after more than 50 years, but it also
- 12:35includes plans for new people to step on the moon, including the
- 12:41first woman. Now Lorenzo Bertelli, Prada's
- 12:45group marketing director, spoke enthusiastically about the
- 12:49collaboration, and according to Bertelli, the ethos of Prada
- 12:53aligns seamlessly with the adventurous spirit required to
- 12:56venture into new realms like space exploration.
- 13:00Now the company intends to leverage its decades long
- 13:02experience in experimentation, cutting edge technology,
- 13:06fabrics, and design expertise for this project.
- 13:10Axiom Space, for their part, has been vested with the
- 13:13responsibility of developing space infrastructure from NASA's
- 13:18Artemis 3 mission. And in a statement, Axiom CEO
- 13:22Michael Sufredny lauded Prada's prowess with raw materials and
- 13:26manufacturing techniques as key to creating a comfortable yet
- 13:30functional space suit. Now As for the space suits
- 13:34themselves, specifics are still under wraps, but indications are
- 13:38there that Prada will build upon a prototype previously released
- 13:41by Axiom. Last year, Axiom secured a $228
- 13:44million contract to design these suits as part of a larger $1.3
- 13:49billion package focused on the 2025 mission.
- 13:53Now these aren't just any space suits, they come equipped with
- 13:56joints designed to offer more flexibility than those worn
- 14:00during the Apollo missions. The suits are also expected to
- 14:03feature built in HD cameras, allowing a real time connection
- 14:07back to Earth. The overall aim is to offer
- 14:10astronauts an enhanced ability to explore the lunar surface and
- 14:14conduct scientific experimentation.
- 14:17Now this isn't the first time a company traditionally focused on
- 14:19fashion has ventured into space suit design though.
- 14:23If you look back to the Apollo 11 mission, you'll find that
- 14:26International Latex Corporation, more famous for designing
- 14:30Playtex bras and girdles, was tasked with creating the suits
- 14:34for Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin.
- 14:37Now, these suits were complex and very expensive, comprising
- 14:4021 layers of various materials like synthetics, neoprene
- 14:44rubber, and metallized polyester films, and they cost a
- 14:48staggering $100,000 each. At that time, Neil Armstrong
- 14:54himself noted the effectiveness and reliability of the suit he
- 14:57wore. In a letter to NASA, Armstrong
- 14:59highlighted not just the suit's photogenic qualities, but its
- 15:03ability to function Florida State in the harsh conditions of
- 15:07space. Prada's history with design and
- 15:10technology is more nuanced than one might initially consider.
- 15:13The company's involvement in sailing through the Luna Rasa
- 15:17Challenge for the Americas Cup has given them unique insights
- 15:20into material science and high stress engineering.
- 15:23As Lorenzo Brotelli, Prada's group's marketing director,
- 15:26highlighted, they're going to transfer that wealth of
- 15:29knowledge to the development of these lunar suits.
- 15:32It's an incredible leap from sea to space, but one that Prada is
- 15:36uniquely positioned to make. And on the flip side, NASA has
- 15:40been pushing the envelope and human space exploration since
- 15:42its inception, and though it's Artemis 3 mission is monumental
- 15:47planning to send the first woman in person of color to the moon,
- 15:50the agency recognizes that suits are critical technology.
- 15:54They've got a history too, a legacy of working with
- 15:57unexpected partners. So NASA teaming up with a high
- 16:00fashion brand like Prada isn't as far fetched as it seems.
- 16:05Axiom Space is the glue that binds these two Titans together.
- 16:09Founded in 2016, the company is in the business of making space
- 16:13accessible not just for astronauts but also to private
- 16:16citizens. And Axiom has its own plans
- 16:19beyond NASA's missions to build a commercial space station.
- 16:23And the suits develop in collaboration with Prada, will
- 16:25find their use not only on the moon but also in future space
- 16:30walks from Axiom's own orbiting platform.
- 16:33It's a multi faceted partnership 1 where each player brings
- 16:37something irreplaceable to the table.

- 17:15exploration. And it unites seemingly
- 17:18disparate worlds. Prada and Axiom are charting
- 17:21course for the future, one that promises to be as stylish as it
- 17:25is ambitious. Sticking with the NASA topic,
- 17:27we're going to be talking about a very compelling SpaceX and
- 17:32NASA mission that aims to explore an asteroid called
- 17:35Psyche. This asteroid isn't just any old
- 17:38space rock, though. It's largely metallic and
- 17:41resembles the Earth's core. And with the launch slated as
- 17:44soon as this Thursday from NASA's Kennedy Space Center in
- 17:47Florida, the Psyche mission is expected to open new Frontiers
- 17:51and our understanding of planetary formation.
- 17:55I will be covering various aspects of this mission, from
- 17:57the spacecraft's journey to why this particular asteroid is so

- 18:15Now the idea for exploring an asteroid may seem very
- 18:18futuristic, but the future is very close.
- 18:22NASA's Psyche mission has been in the works for quite some time
- 18:25with a year long delay throwing a small wrench into the planning
- 18:28of this mission. And nevertheless, the spacecraft
- 18:31name after the asteroid it aims to explore is prepped and almost
- 18:34ready for its expedition. And the launch vehicle for this
- 18:37mission? Spacex's triple core Falcon
- 18:40Heavy rocket, which will propel the spacecraft on a six year,
- 18:452.2 billion mile journey. This is not just another
- 18:50mission, though, it's a first in many ways.
- 18:52Notably, it's the first time NASA is targeting an asteroid
- 18:55that isn't primarily rock or ice, and instead Psyche consists
- 18:59mostly of metal. And the mission could offer
- 19:02insights into the cores of terrestrial planets, including
- 19:05our own Earth. That's a scientific jackpot,
- 19:09considering that the Earth score remains inaccessible for direct
- 19:12study. Now the countdown is on and the
- 19:15launch window is narrowing, and the Psyche mission has launched
- 19:18opportunities every day between October 12th and October 25th,
- 19:22with a 20% chance of favorable weather conditions.
- 19:25NASA and SpaceX are charting October 12th at precisely 10:16
- 19:31AM Eastern Time for this much awaited lift off.
- 19:36So what makes Psyche so special? Located about three times
- 19:40farther from the Sun than Earth, this asteroid could harbor
- 19:43secrets that shed light onto the core structure of terrestrial
- 19:47planets. Named after a Greek goddess,
- 19:49Psyche has fascinated scientists because of its uniqueness in the
- 19:53asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter.
- 19:55And planetary formation is a very chaotic process and psyche
- 20:00could be the exposed core of a planet but never got the chance
- 20:04to form completely. Scientists theorize that it is
- 20:07composed mainly of nickel iron, which makes it different from
- 20:11other celestial bodies like Mars, Venus and Earth that are
- 20:14abundant in iron oxides. And unlike these planets, Psyche
- 20:18doesn't appear to have much in the way of iron oxides,
- 20:21suggesting a different kind of planetary formation history.
- 20:24It's at 140 mile wide chunk of metal and rock, potentially
- 20:30offering a glimpse into the early solar system and the
- 20:34chaotic processes that go on in the formation of planets.
- 20:38Now when it comes to the Psyche spacecraft, the adage good
- 20:41things come in small packages as fitting though the spacecraft
- 20:45could cover the surface of a standard tennis court when it's
- 20:48solar razor deployed. What's inside is a compact
- 20:51treasure trove of a scientific equipment designed to unlock the
- 20:54mysteries of this asteroid, Psyche and possibly of our solar
- 20:57system. But let's not forget the
- 21:00spacecraft itself is a marvel of modern engineering.
- 21:04Equipped to survive six year long journey to the vacuum space
- 21:09to reach its distant target, the first piece of equipment we
- 21:13should talk about is a magnetometer.
- 21:14This is not just a run-of-the-mill instrument, it's
- 21:16a specialized equipment to detect ancient magnetic fields.
- 21:21If Psyche does turn out to be the core of a long disintegrated
- 21:24planet, then traces of a magnetic field could provide
- 21:28game changing insights into planetary science.
- 21:32The magnetometer will scour the asteroid for such traces,
- 21:35potentially helping us understand the magnetic
- 21:38properties of celestial bodies that never really got the chance
- 21:41to become fully fledged planets. Now.
- 21:44Then there's the Gamma Ray and neutron spectrometer, another
- 21:48critical device on board. Its role is to perform a kind of
- 21:52elemental analysis of the asteroid.
- 21:54By detecting gamma rays and neutrons, this instrument can
- 21:57help us understand the chemical elements that make up Psyche,
- 22:01effectively deciphering its composition.
- 22:03This can answer questions like whether the asteroid is nickel
- 22:06or iron or other metals, and by extension shed light on the
- 22:11elements that make up planetary cores.
- 22:14Now last but not least, a multi spectral imager.
- 22:17This will capture detailed images of Psyche, but it goes
- 22:21far beyond simple photography. The imager will capture data
- 22:25across various wavelengths, allowing scientists to assess
- 22:29the mineral composition and topography of the asteroid.
- 22:31Intended with the other instruments.
- 22:33This imager completes a holistic toolkit for space exploration.
- 22:37Additionally, the Deep Space Orbital Communication System
- 22:41will experiment with long range laser communications technology,
- 22:44a pioneering step that could set the stage for future deep space
- 22:48missions. Now the mission timeline spans
- 22:51almost six years and covers an enormous distance.
- 22:54The spacecraft will use a solar electric propulsion system and
- 22:58get a gravity assist from Mars on its way, and upon arrival in
- 23:022029, it will spend around 26 months studying the asteroid.
- 23:06The spacecraft is expected to begin transmitting images to
- 23:09Earth as soon as it detects the asteroid, allowing us a visual
- 23:13treat along with scientific data.
- 23:16Delays have plagued this mission, with the original
- 23:18launch date in August of 2022 being pushed back.
- 23:21The reasons include software issues and operational
- 23:24challenges, and to tackle these, NASA added more team members and
- 23:28even revised its Hybrid Work policy to increase on site
- 23:32collaboration. And all the hard work seems to
- 23:35be paying off at NASA, SpaceX and the Psyche.
- 23:38Mission managers recently conducted a Flight Readiness
- 23:41Review certifying the mission for final launch preparations.
- 23:44And with last minute simulations and fine tuning, the spacecraft
- 23:48appears set for its groundbreaking journey to
- 23:50explore the metal rich asteroid. The launch window has been
- 23:54adjusted to be between October 12th and October 25th, giving
- 23:59the teams more time to complete flight ready checks and ensure
- 24:03everything is in order. We're now closer than ever to
- 24:06uncovering the secrets that could redefine our understanding
- 24:10of planetary cores in the formation of rocky planets like
- 24:14Earth and also our solar system. Finally, we're focusing on the
- 24:18US electric vehicle market, which recently hit an impressive
- 24:21milestone with over 300,000 EV sales in just the third quarter.
- 24:26But interestingly, Tesla's market share has decreased.
- 24:30We'll be examining these sales figures and looking into what
- 24:33the future holds for Tesla and other automakers in the ever
- 24:37competitive EV space. Today, and for the first time,
- 24:41electric vehicle sales in the US cross the 300,000 mark in a
- 24:45single quarter. This comes as a result of
- 24:47heightened market activity, which has seen a surge in demand
- 24:51for a wider variety of EV options.
- 24:53Notably, while Tesla remains A dominant force in the industry,
- 24:57its market share has decreased to just half of the overall pie,
- 25:02a slip from the 62% they held earlier in the year.
- 25:06This transition has taken place in a market it's becoming highly
- 25:10contested, with the economic landscape characterized by high
- 25:14inflation and soaring barring costs.
- 25:16Automakers have made aggressive moves to attract new customers.
- 25:21It's not just the traditional giants.
- 25:23New entrants like Rivian are exceeding expectations and
- 25:26making waves in the industry. Price wars have ignited across
- 25:30the industry, with Tesla spearheading this trend.
- 25:33As a result, average EV prices dropped to $50,683 in September,
- 25:39a declined from 52,212 in the prior month.
- 25:44Though Tesla initiated the price reductions, the strategy was
- 25:47adopted by other players, which helped drive more sales across
- 25:50the board. However, Tesla has been
- 25:53struggling to meet market expectations for quarterly
- 25:56deliveries and issue exacerbated by factory upgrades for newer
- 26:00versions of their vehicles. So what's next for Tesla?
- 26:03Well, the much anticipated Cybertruck could be the catalyst
- 26:06for re establishing Tesla's market dominance.
- 26:10When Tesla launched the Model S back in 2012, it had virtually
- 26:14no competition. Most American EV options at the
- 26:16time were rudimentary like neighborhood electric vehicles
- 26:20like the Nissan Leaf. Tesla used this head start to
- 26:24build a massive lead, but over time that lead had diminished.
- 26:27Several factors contribute to this trend as well.
- 26:30Firstly, while Tesla's more affordable models like the Model
- 26:333 and Model Y continue to see impressive sales figures, it's
- 26:37more luxurious. Model S and Model X cars have
- 26:40lost traction. According to Automotive News,
- 26:43Model S registrations fell by 51% in the first half of this
- 26:48year compared to the same period last year.
- 26:51Model X sales dropped 18% as well.
- 26:54Secondly, competition is no longer sibling idly.
- 26:58Brands like Chevy, Volkswagen, and Hyundai are making
- 27:01significant strides in the market.
- 27:04For instance, Chevy's Bolt EUV sales more than doubled year
- 27:07over year, from 11,774 units last year to 27,802 this year.
- 27:16Third, while Tesla doesn't spend money on advertising, other
- 27:20automakers do. General Motors has been pumping
- 27:23money into advertising its electric vehicles and as a
- 27:26result it's now owning 6% of the Usev market.
- 27:31Tesla was the early bird to the EV market, but the landscape
- 27:34changed dramatically. There are far more competitors
- 27:37today, including new entry in Saint Vivian like we talked
- 27:39about before, which saw exponential growth in sales this
- 27:42year. A critical question facing Tesla
- 27:45is whether it needs to innovate further to maintain or extend
- 27:48its market share. Tesla's long promised $25,000
- 27:53sub Model 3 has been on the drawing board for years but
- 27:57hasn't come to fruition. Meanwhile, rivals are filling
- 28:00their product line UPS to cater to a broader array of consumer
- 28:04needs. Tesla has stated that factory
- 28:06downtime impacted its global third quarter sales, but it
- 28:09seems like a transient issue that doesn't really explain the
- 28:12decline in market share. And according to Experian data,
- 28:15Tesla shares of the market dropped from 65.1% a year ago to
- 28:2058% currently. And while Tesla does maintain a
- 28:25commanding lead, the question is for how long can they keep it?
- 28:30While Tesla and other companies are rushing to launch electric
- 28:34pickup trucks, recent studies suggest that pickup truck buyers
- 28:37are the most resistant to adopt. E VS the Reluctant stems from
- 28:42concerns about charging infrastructure range in price
- 28:46when compared to the sales of conventional trucks.
- 28:48The numbers for electric trucks are poultry brands like GM and
- 28:52Ford are trying to buck the trend.
- 28:53For example, Ford has sold about 12,000 of its Lightning electric
- 28:58trucks so far this year. However, the numbers are still
- 29:01marginal compared to traditional pickups.
- 29:04The entry point for electric pickups is high as well.
- 29:08Even with initial promises of more affordable pricing, the
- 29:11costs have risen. For instance, the least
- 29:14expensive Rivian R1T starts at $73,000, way above the comfort
- 29:21zone for most potential buyers. The research also indicates that
- 29:24potential preferences seem to play a role in a vehicle's
- 29:27choice. Pickup truck buyers are more
- 29:29likely to lean, conservative and out for vehicles that are
- 29:32powerful, rugged and prestigious, traits not often
- 29:36associated with electric pickups.
- 29:38And the appetite for electric vehicles in the United States is
- 29:41growing, albeit more so for compact and mid sized cars than
- 29:45for pickup trucks. Data shows a strong demand for
- 29:48EVs in the 35,000 to $49,999 price range, which means Tesla's
- 29:54Model 3 and Y continue to remain vital for the company's future
- 29:58success. The government is also doing its
- 30:00part to accelerate the shift towards EV mobility, with a
- 30:04focus on creating charging infrastructure and offering tax
- 30:07credits for EV purchases. These initiatives will likely
- 30:10catalyze the market, further benefiting all players, not just
- 30:14Tesla. And the combination of rising
- 30:16competition, governmental policy and consumer preferences will
- 30:20continue to shape the sector. Tesla's performance in the
- 30:23coming quarters will be scrutinized as never before.
