- 0:00Speaker 1: Bulet keV Show Special guest lm A. Thank you for
- 0:03Speaker 1: having me, Thank you for coming. It's been a while,
- 0:06Speaker 1: it has been. I think it's twenty You know what's
- 0:10Speaker 1: crazy is I met you in twenty seventeen, before you even, like,
- 0:14Speaker 1: I want to say, before you really had music out. Yeah,
- 0:17Speaker 1: I think we were. I want to say. It was
- 0:19Speaker 1: maybe like one or two EPs. It was like very
- 0:23Speaker 1: pre pre bowed up. Yeah, what pre pre pre booed up? Yeh.
- 0:26Speaker 1: I don't remember who brought you up to the station.
- 0:27Speaker 1: I might have been someone from Interscope and they were
- 0:29Speaker 1: just like, hey, we just want to introduce you to her.
- 0:30Speaker 1: She's going to be the next thing. And like Jesus,
- 0:33Speaker 1: and then here you are making the R and B
- 0:35Speaker 1: music I grew up loving. Oh thank you. Yes, it
- 0:39Speaker 1: kind of took a while to make this album. And
- 0:41Speaker 1: you know what I love about your album is like
- 0:43Speaker 1: when I saw the track list, you know, it's it's
- 0:45Speaker 1: hard to make an album with that many songs and
- 0:48Speaker 1: it'd be fire. Thank you, but you made us wait.
- 0:51Speaker 1: So I feel like you made us wait, right, So
- 0:53Speaker 1: it's like, okay, cool, you made us wait, and you
- 0:55Speaker 1: know you delivered, so it wasn't like super super intentional
- 0:58Speaker 1: that I made everyone. Wait, I think everyone one thinks
- 1:00Speaker 1: that I like disappeared off the face of the earth
- 1:02Speaker 1: and then like came back. It really was like boot
- 1:05Speaker 1: up Trip my debut album end of twenty eighteen, and
- 1:09Speaker 1: then for the whole of twenty nineteen, I toured, Like
- 1:11Speaker 1: literally January to January twenty twenty, I toured and I can't.
- 1:15Speaker 1: I'm not really like a record on the road, like
- 1:17Speaker 1: I need to be stationary and like set. So I
- 1:20Speaker 1: wasn't in the studio. So twenty twenty was always the
- 1:22Speaker 1: year for me to record. Anyway, it took a little
- 1:26Speaker 1: bit longer than we planned. Pandemic. Yeah, and the pandemic,
- 1:28Speaker 1: like I didn't I really didn't want to put something
- 1:30Speaker 1: out during the pandemic and not be able to like
- 1:32Speaker 1: work it properly. I feel like everyone kind of at
- 1:35Speaker 1: first the virtual stuff was cool, but then months in
- 1:37Speaker 1: everyone was like, I'm sick and tired of seen so tired. Yeah,
- 1:40Speaker 1: so I wanted to make sure I would be able
- 1:42Speaker 1: to work it properly. So yeah, it took a little
- 1:44Speaker 1: bit long, but we're here now, Yeah, one hundred percent. Yeah,
- 1:46Speaker 1: you got some crazy records on Here Fallen Angel, I
- 1:49Speaker 1: want to say it is one of my favorites. Yes,
- 1:51Speaker 1: I love the outro at the end. Yes, the Arrioti
- 1:54Speaker 1: record is crazy. Thank you. What would you say, like,
- 1:57Speaker 1: where did you kind of pull your inspiration from for
- 1:59Speaker 1: this project? Yeah? I think it was really just my
- 2:02Speaker 1: life in real time. Like I think with my debut album,
- 2:05Speaker 1: the studio was really like still quite new to me,
- 2:08Speaker 1: and I was like figuring out what I wanted to
- 2:09Speaker 1: sound like and what I wanted to say. And this album,
- 2:12Speaker 1: I felt like I was super confident in what I
- 2:14Speaker 1: wanted to say and what I wanted to sound like
- 2:16Speaker 1: and the message that I wanted to get across. And
- 2:19Speaker 1: really I was just going in and kind of like
- 2:21Speaker 1: diary entries almost, and whatever I felt on that day
- 2:24Speaker 1: is what came out. I sort of felt like, yeah,
- 2:26Speaker 1: did you go through a breakup during the pandemic or something?
- 2:28Speaker 1: I did? Yeah, so so that there's all that all
- 2:31Speaker 1: you need is a breakup, a good breakup. But to
- 2:33Speaker 1: be fair, my album's not a sad album now, but
- 2:35Speaker 1: there are some moments. You know, there's moments. There's moments,
- 2:37Speaker 1: for sure, but I'm also learning that like life happens
- 2:40Speaker 1: in moments, Like happiness happens in moments, Sadness happens in moments.
- 2:43Speaker 1: Success comes in moments, and like obviously those moments come
- 2:46Speaker 1: back they you know, it's like a roller coaster. But yeah,
- 2:49Speaker 1: there's moments of I think more so moments of happiness,
- 2:52Speaker 1: but there's definitely moments of sadness on the album. Yeah,
- 2:57Speaker 1: how old is the right? Like? How long old did
- 2:59Speaker 1: you guys do the Right? The Roddy record, I want
- 3:02Speaker 1: to say, we did it last summer, so it's not
- 3:04Speaker 1: that it's not that old. Yeah, but like fully fully
- 3:06Speaker 1: finished it, probably top of the year. But Roddy and
- 3:10Speaker 1: I we we actually did another song first for was
- 3:14Speaker 1: supposed to be for us this album, and then we
- 3:17Speaker 1: kind of came back around and we had this. This
- 3:19Speaker 1: was one of the last records we did on my album.
- 3:21Speaker 1: But from the beginning, the start of me recording, I
- 3:26Speaker 1: was like, I really want Roddy on this album because
- 3:28Speaker 1: I'm such a big fan. So it must have made
- 3:30Speaker 1: it happen. Yeah, do you like, are you conscientious of
- 3:32Speaker 1: Like I said that, you make the music I grew
- 3:35Speaker 1: up loving, and I feel like for a while we
- 3:37Speaker 1: kind of were missing R and B like true R
- 3:40Speaker 1: and B in terms of like the forefront of music.
- 3:44Speaker 1: But I do feel like it's coming back. But I
- 3:47Speaker 1: feel like you had a lot to do with that.
- 3:49Speaker 1: Are you conscientious of that, like, because I feel like
- 3:51Speaker 1: you kind of feeled something that was missing, you know
- 3:53Speaker 1: what I mean? Thank you? First of all, that's that's
- 3:55Speaker 1: a big compliment. I don't feel like I was super,
- 3:58Speaker 1: super super aware at the time. I think it's really
- 4:01Speaker 1: just like, that's the music I grew up on, too,
- 4:03Speaker 1: So it's really just like my influences and who I
- 4:05Speaker 1: love and the music I love, and that's just the
- 4:07Speaker 1: music that comes out because that's just what I loved
- 4:09Speaker 1: listening to and what I love making. I don't think
- 4:12Speaker 1: anyone could have ever really planned what happened with Brewed
- 4:15Speaker 1: Up or what happened with Trip. I think it was
- 4:16Speaker 1: just like clearly something that the industry was missing and
- 4:19Speaker 1: what people wanted. And I definitely, I definitely do feel
- 4:23Speaker 1: like it gave R and B a lot more like
- 4:27Speaker 1: mainstream attention at the time, and then since then it's
- 4:30Speaker 1: R and B has kind of been taken out back
- 4:32Speaker 1: care but it's still it's still a very hard genre.
- 4:34Speaker 1: If you're not like a crossover. It's still even though
- 4:37Speaker 1: we're making waves somewhat, it's still a really hard genre
- 4:41Speaker 1: to work and I think as an R and B artist,
- 4:44Speaker 1: you just kind of have to be aware of that
- 4:45Speaker 1: and just try your best to to like navigate it's
- 4:49Speaker 1: quite hard to navigate through. Yeah, like money Along, she
- 4:51Speaker 1: just went number one with like a real traditional R
- 4:53Speaker 1: and B record. I'm like, this shit is number one
- 4:55Speaker 1: and two formats and it's very, very hard to do,
- 4:58Speaker 1: very hard. I don't think people understand I used to
- 5:00Speaker 1: do in touch like a pop or like rap base. Yeah, industry, yeah,
- 5:04Speaker 1: one hundred percent. Talk about like, how did you spend
- 5:07Speaker 1: your pandemic? Were you here in the States? Were you
- 5:09Speaker 1: back home in the UK? Where were you at? I
- 5:11Speaker 1: was in the States, Yeah, I couldn't actually leave because
- 5:13Speaker 1: I was right before the pandemic happened. I was in
- 5:15Speaker 1: the process of getting my green card, so like, while
- 5:18Speaker 1: you're in the process, you're not supposed to leave because
- 5:21Speaker 1: they can deny you like re entry. And then obviously
- 5:24Speaker 1: COVID happened in the pandemic and the embassy shot, so
- 5:26Speaker 1: if I would have left that we wouldn't come back.
- 5:28Speaker 1: I would have got stuck at home. Yeah, I know
- 5:29Speaker 1: people who that happened to. Yeah. Yeah, And I was
- 5:31Speaker 1: in the middle of making an album and I didn't
- 5:33Speaker 1: want to. I could make an album at home, yes,
- 5:35Speaker 1: but your team's out here, everyone's here, So it was
- 5:39Speaker 1: just like it would have been really hard for me
- 5:40Speaker 1: to do that. So I was here. Yeah, I didn't
- 5:42Speaker 1: go home. The first time I went home was November
- 5:46Speaker 1: that just passed, and that was the first time in
- 5:47Speaker 1: two years. So yeah, with Buota being such a massive record,
- 5:52Speaker 1: how much did you pay attention to all the remixes
- 5:54Speaker 1: I made attend? That's all. I saw a lot of
- 5:56Speaker 1: tea Pain caught a fucking body, killed it, absolutely killed it.
- 5:59Speaker 1: But he like, I don't know why everybody was acting
- 6:02Speaker 1: so surprised. I wasn't, but I was just like, yah,
- 6:04Speaker 1: I feel like he doesn't get enough credit at all.
- 6:06Speaker 1: Like T Pain is actually a goat. I don't think
- 6:08Speaker 1: people want to I agree. I agree, he's his. We
- 6:12Speaker 1: would like to say he's him duncan, Yes, mcpay, he
- 6:15Speaker 1: is him. He is Like I feel like he really
- 6:17Speaker 1: created like a new lane when he came out in
- 6:20Speaker 1: his Like in his prime, there was no one really
- 6:23Speaker 1: really really doing what T Pain was doing and he
- 6:25Speaker 1: can actually sing, like I don't think he forms his
- 6:27Speaker 1: ass off. You know, I've never seen him live. He's
- 6:30Speaker 1: one of my favorite life offered to see him. Yeah,
- 6:32Speaker 1: like for the like his size, the way he'd been
- 6:34Speaker 1: moving around and popping and locking, and I'm just like Jesus,
- 6:37Speaker 1: I've seen videos, but I've never actually experienced it in person. Yeah.
- 6:41Speaker 1: How like when we talk about Mustard, I feel like
- 6:44Speaker 1: somehow we just talked about T Pain doesn't enough credit.
- 6:46Speaker 1: I feel like Mustard doesn't get enough credit just for
- 6:48Speaker 1: him being the CEO that he is, the guy that
- 6:50Speaker 1: he is, and just like the prolific I mean, you know,
- 6:54Speaker 1: not a lot of people have had runs like Mustard.
- 6:57Speaker 1: How involved was he with this project? I feel like
- 7:00Speaker 1: he was heavily involved in the first project. Like how
- 7:02Speaker 1: like are his fingerprints all over the album? Yeah, he's
- 7:05Speaker 1: still he definitely. I think he was definitely more involved
- 7:07Speaker 1: in the debut, but he's still produced. I think I
- 7:10Speaker 1: want to say six of the fifteen on this album.
- 7:14Speaker 1: I think I think I'm correct, And I always like
- 7:17Speaker 1: I don't there's nothing that I do that I don't
- 7:19Speaker 1: play him like his opinion is really really really important
- 7:22Speaker 1: to me, and he's never steerd me wrong. So he's
- 7:24Speaker 1: still super super involved. Whether it's being like, you know,
- 7:28Speaker 1: the label owner of ten Summers, or whether it's production wise,
- 7:31Speaker 1: he's still super involved. And he's not like scared to
- 7:34Speaker 1: tell me that he doesn't like something, and I'm not
- 7:36Speaker 1: scared to tell him I don't like something, like it's
- 7:37Speaker 1: super just organic and natural. So he's very involved. Yeah,
- 7:41Speaker 1: did you feel like there was a I feel like
- 7:42Speaker 1: there was in like that twenty eighteen twenty nineteen range.
- 7:45Speaker 1: You were on a lot of hooks. You were kind
- 7:47Speaker 1: of like the go to do you think so, I
- 7:49Speaker 1: don't feel like, I just I'm thinking of the Meek album. Yea,
- 7:52Speaker 1: there was a I feel like you were on a
- 7:53Speaker 1: couple of hooks, right, Not really not really me. Maybe
- 7:55Speaker 1: I'm just thinking of the Meek I feel like for
- 7:57Speaker 1: a while there, I just heard you on the radio
- 7:59Speaker 1: audience see no, because you know what it was. It
- 8:01Speaker 1: was really wild because boot Up happened, and then Trip happened,
- 8:04Speaker 1: which is all over the radio, and then my album happened,
- 8:07Speaker 1: and then Meek was like right after my album twenty
- 8:09Speaker 1: four seven, So the timing of it. I just felt
- 8:11Speaker 1: like it was LMA Radio for like six months. It
- 8:13Speaker 1: was like, jeez, I know everyone was tired of it,
- 8:16Speaker 1: like we don't want it is anymore. But yeah, no,
- 8:18Speaker 1: Meek was really the main twenty four to seven was
- 8:22Speaker 1: the main feature I did. I didn't really do. I
- 8:24Speaker 1: haven't really done many features to be fair when it
- 8:27Speaker 1: comes to people, because I'm sure people hit you a
- 8:28Speaker 1: lot to do a future like you know what, people
- 8:31Speaker 1: actually don't really as much. I feel like there's like
- 8:33Speaker 1: a misconception that people think, like so many people hit
- 8:37Speaker 1: me not so much. Wow, I don't surprise. Yeah, they
- 8:40Speaker 1: need to start, y'all got to tap in. What's up y'all?

- 10:58Speaker 1: I was just talking about Bloss Project. Shout out to Blast.
- 11:01Speaker 1: I'm such a fan. His melodies are so cool. And
- 11:03Speaker 1: he killed the Kendrick album. Yes, yes he did, Yes,
- 11:06Speaker 1: Kendrick's album. I haven't listened to it in its entire yet.
- 11:09Speaker 1: So you haven't sat with the whole project yet. No. Yeah,
- 11:11Speaker 1: I feel like I need to be in a certain
- 11:13Speaker 1: like headspace in order to properly take it. It took
- 11:15Speaker 1: me like three days to like sit down because I'm like,
- 11:17Speaker 1: I can't just like this. It can't be back. Yeah,
- 11:20Speaker 1: I gotta like really sit down and like like hone
- 11:23Speaker 1: in on this because I feel like it's such an
- 11:24Speaker 1: important album. I want to listen to it passively. So
- 11:27Speaker 1: I finally did. I was like, I find it. If
- 11:30Speaker 1: I would to listen to it passively, I would have
- 11:32Speaker 1: been like, but it's amazing. Yeah, yeah, I haven't. I
- 11:35Speaker 1: had it, haven't had the chance to, and I want
- 11:37Speaker 1: to do the same. I want to sit down and
- 11:38Speaker 1: actually properly listen to it, and I haven't been able
- 11:41Speaker 1: to do that yet, So I will obviously at one point.
- 11:43Speaker 1: But I know I don't expect anything less from what
- 11:46Speaker 1: about just on the R and B side? Any any
- 11:48Speaker 1: fellow fellow ladies that you're doing and everyone? Kay Lonnie
- 11:51Speaker 1: just dropped her album, which shout out to Kay Lonnie.
- 11:54Speaker 1: I listened to a lot of Keana the day like
- 11:57Speaker 1: you said money just when I know she just put
- 11:59Speaker 1: out another single. Who else is it. I love Snow
- 12:03Speaker 1: even though Snows Snow's album is almost a year old now,
- 12:06Speaker 1: I think, but I listened to it like it came up. Yeah,
- 12:07Speaker 1: Snows music is like very like I just feel like
- 12:10Speaker 1: it's like it's like when you're listen to on a
- 12:12Speaker 1: del album, you're like, I could hear this song at
- 12:14Speaker 1: a wedding in like one hundred and fifty years. So
- 12:15Speaker 1: I feel like Snow's music is very the Yeah she
- 12:18Speaker 1: I think you can like I could me personally, I
- 12:20Speaker 1: can be in any mood, like whether I'm happy, sad,
- 12:23Speaker 1: like energetic or whatever, and Snow's music always just makes
- 12:26Speaker 1: me feel like I'm like at peace, and I love that.
- 12:28Speaker 1: I feel like you need like a balance of like
- 12:30Speaker 1: the turn up music and yeah, so Snow, I'm a
- 12:34Speaker 1: big fan of Snow Jasmine. When you're when you're trying
- 12:37Speaker 1: to turn up? What is the go to? City girls?
- 12:40Speaker 1: City girls? Shout out to the city girls. Yes, I
- 12:44Speaker 1: love them, They're amazing. They Yeah, they're torn. I think
- 12:46Speaker 1: they're torn with that. Oh Jack b Yeah, shout out
- 12:49Speaker 1: to Jack Harlan. He's doing Arenas, he's killing it, killing it. Yeah,
- 12:53Speaker 1: I'm really happy for him. It's very surprised he didn't
- 12:55Speaker 1: know ray J and Brandy were brother and sister. I mean,
- 12:58Speaker 1: I feel like everyone knows that. I mean we feel
- 13:01Speaker 1: like everyone knows that because we know it. But like
- 13:03Speaker 1: I don't think it was like like obviously I know that,
- 13:07Speaker 1: But like maybe he didn't grow up listening to Brandy.
- 13:09Speaker 1: And that's I feel like the Internet tries to like
- 13:12Speaker 1: they definitely make it's not a big time. It's not
- 13:14Speaker 1: a big ye stephone. Maybe he didn't get around, like
- 13:17Speaker 1: you know, tapping in with Brandy like he said, he
- 13:19Speaker 1: was like no one's ever told him that in his life.
- 13:22Speaker 1: That's crazy. Yeah, shout out to Brandy. She's a legend
- 13:25Speaker 1: on this project. You also got a lot of on
- 13:27Speaker 1: the album. Lotto has been. She's such a sweetheart, Like
- 13:31Speaker 1: she's one of my favorite interviews I've done in a
- 13:32Speaker 1: long time. She's hilarious. Yeah, she's she's actually like so
- 13:35Speaker 1: personable but just so like super down to earth. She's
- 13:38Speaker 1: really funny, like you just said, Yeah, I met her
- 13:41Speaker 1: at studio. We were using the same studio just like randomly,
- 13:45Speaker 1: and she was next door and I just went in
- 13:47Speaker 1: there and I was like, Hi, I'm a big fan
- 13:49Speaker 1: and she was like, what are you like? You know,
- 13:50Speaker 1: she was really sweet to me, and she says child, Yeah,
- 13:55Speaker 1: she was really sweet to me. And I had didn't
- 13:57Speaker 1: say the song that she's on. I had that from
- 13:59Speaker 1: the start of the recording process that was one of
- 14:02Speaker 1: the very first ones that I recorded and just never
- 14:05Speaker 1: had a second verse to it. And I was just like,
- 14:07Speaker 1: I think this is one that needs a feature. And
- 14:09Speaker 1: by the time we got around to like figuring the
- 14:11Speaker 1: features out, I already had already and I already had Lucky,
- 14:13Speaker 1: so I was like, I want a female so she
- 14:15Speaker 1: kind of a yeah, a different bag for her to
- 14:16Speaker 1: be into. I feel like, yeah. And I think that's
- 14:18Speaker 1: what's so interesting about the song too, because I think
- 14:20Speaker 1: when you look at like Lma featuring Lot, you're like,
- 14:23Speaker 1: what's what in the world does this sound like? Yeah?
- 14:26Speaker 1: But she killed it, like literally she when she sent
- 14:29Speaker 1: me back the verse, it was everything I would have
- 14:31Speaker 1: wanted her to say, and I didn't even have to. Like,
- 14:33Speaker 1: but I don't like to tell people I want you
- 14:34Speaker 1: to say this, like, you know, I want you to
- 14:37Speaker 1: do whatever you do best, because that's the reason I would,
- 14:39Speaker 1: you know, want you to collaborate with me, And that
- 14:42Speaker 1: was the greatest part about that because the song obviously
- 14:44Speaker 1: spoke to her in the same way it spoke to me,
- 14:46Speaker 1: and she killed her ver so I was like, yeah,
- 14:48Speaker 1: she killed it. You're writing process, break this down, because
- 14:51Speaker 1: I always see artists like I'm in the studio. Obviously
- 14:54Speaker 1: we're in my recording studio right now, so I always
- 14:55Speaker 1: see like, you know, I feel like nowadays when it
- 14:58Speaker 1: comes to rap people unchaining their lines. You're obviously a
- 15:02Speaker 1: prolific singer. You make prolific music. Thank you. Are you
- 15:06Speaker 1: writing ideas at home? Are you writing the beats? Like
- 15:08Speaker 1: how is your kind of like process when it comes
- 15:10Speaker 1: to like coming up with that is obviously you know,
- 15:12Speaker 1: you can collaborate with other writers, but in terms of
- 15:14Speaker 1: the stuff that you're like putting your pen down on, like,
- 15:17Speaker 1: like what is that process for you? I don't really
- 15:19Speaker 1: write at home, like if I have an idea. I know,
- 15:21Speaker 1: like a lot of people will like start writing something
- 15:23Speaker 1: if they see something whatever. I'm not really that type
- 15:25Speaker 1: of person. I think I have to hear like a
- 15:30Speaker 1: beat or hear some chords or something like that in
- 15:33Speaker 1: order for inspiration to like come. I like to work
- 15:36Speaker 1: off of whatever the beat or the chords make me
- 15:38Speaker 1: feel like because like I don't want to I don't
- 15:40Speaker 1: want to have an idea and going to the studio
- 15:41Speaker 1: and be like this is what I need to make
- 15:43Speaker 1: It feels very forced when I do. I know that
- 15:44Speaker 1: works for some people. I rather just catch the vibe
- 15:47Speaker 1: to what is that actually going on in the studio
- 15:49Speaker 1: at that time and figure it out from there. That's
- 15:51Speaker 1: really what we do most. We kind of like whether
- 15:53Speaker 1: we're working to a beat or whether we're starting from scratch.
- 15:56Speaker 1: If we're starting from scratch, it'll be like, okay, well
- 15:58Speaker 1: kind of how do you feel today? And then we'll
- 15:59Speaker 1: go for there and then obviously the chords will either
- 16:01Speaker 1: be moody or they'll be happy. But I like to
- 16:04Speaker 1: write in the studio, what's the song on the album?
- 16:07Speaker 1: If you had to pick out one song that just
- 16:08Speaker 1: came the easiest to you, where maybe you had something
- 16:10Speaker 1: on your chest you just had to get it off,
- 16:11Speaker 1: and it just was like it just happened so easy.
- 16:15Speaker 1: Break my Heart was the quickest quickest one that we wrote.
- 16:17Speaker 1: It literally took I don't even think it took more
- 16:19Speaker 1: than half an hour. But it's funny because that's like
- 16:21Speaker 1: one of my favorite songs on the album. It's like
- 16:24Speaker 1: it's quite simple, like the choruses if I could choose
- 16:29Speaker 1: who could If I had to choose who could break
- 16:30Speaker 1: my heart, it would be you, which is a nuts concept.
- 16:32Speaker 1: Everyone's like, girl, what But it's kind of it's kind
- 16:35Speaker 1: of sweet to say, but like I think people, I
- 16:38Speaker 1: think people are misconstruing it. Like I'm not saying like
- 16:41Speaker 1: I'm going to choose you to break my heart if
- 16:43Speaker 1: I had to choose, like worst case scenario, if I
- 16:46Speaker 1: had to choose, it would be you. Mm. Is that
- 16:49Speaker 1: so that's like something you actually went through, right? Yeah? Yeah,
- 16:52Speaker 1: this was my life in real time pandemic heartbreak. Yeah,
- 16:56Speaker 1: I guess you could say that how do you get
- 16:58Speaker 1: over heartbreak? In the pan because it's a very you know,
- 17:01Speaker 1: it was a pretty wild I mean, I don't know
- 17:02Speaker 1: if you were in LA a lot of the time.
- 17:04Speaker 1: I spent quite a bit in the LA because lahit
- 17:06Speaker 1: got kind of crazy out here. Yeah. In terms of
- 17:08Speaker 1: like about that, like the first few months it felt
- 17:12Speaker 1: like we were in a movie Gotham. Yeah. Yeah, I
- 17:15Speaker 1: think to be fair, I like I wouldn't say it
- 17:20Speaker 1: was like a super super bad like it was heartbreak, yes,
- 17:24Speaker 1: but it wasn't like a super super bad breakup or
- 17:25Speaker 1: anything that it wasn't ugly. Yeah, it wasn't ugly, So
- 17:29Speaker 1: it wasn't as hard as it probably seems. And I
- 17:33Speaker 1: have great friends and great family, so I think that's important,
- 17:35Speaker 1: like even though they're not physically around during the pandemic,
- 17:38Speaker 1: but like FaceTime makes you feel very a lot closer obviously,
- 17:42Speaker 1: And yeah, I don't really I don't really have like
- 17:44Speaker 1: a step to step how I did it. I just
- 17:46Speaker 1: kind of took it. Yeah, so it wasn't it wasn't
- 17:48Speaker 1: anything crazy, Like you didn't getcheated on or anything. No, no, no, no,
- 17:51Speaker 1: not that. The cheating shit is like the hardest thing
- 17:54Speaker 1: to get over. I've gotten cheated on in my life
- 17:56Speaker 1: before and it is very Yeah, it's bad. Do you
- 18:00Speaker 1: feel like I had this conversation with my friend the
- 18:01Speaker 1: other day, do you feel like you could stay with
- 18:03Speaker 1: someone after they cheat? Like, do you think that the
- 18:05Speaker 1: relationship is solvable? Almost in my case, I tried it out. Yeah,
- 18:14Speaker 1: it didn't want but we have there was a kid involved,
- 18:17Speaker 1: but it definitely since I lived through that, I would
- 18:21Speaker 1: say probably not. I would say, like once that trust
- 18:24Speaker 1: is probably violated. Like it's just hard, it's hard. It's
- 18:27Speaker 1: probably hard to go. It's just yeah, I think it's harder.
- 18:28Speaker 1: And I think, like, uh, I guess it. I mean, listen,
- 18:31Speaker 1: circumstances are you know, they change, like I guess the
- 18:34Speaker 1: case the case. But I would say, like, you know,
- 18:38Speaker 1: it just depends. I guess it depends on what happened,
- 18:40Speaker 1: how toxic the situation is, Like, hey, toxic situations. We
- 18:43Speaker 1: don't want any any toxic situations over there. Yeah. Yeah,
- 18:46Speaker 1: so I think like, yeah, if it's like something like
- 18:49Speaker 1: I don't know, I was a part of a pretty
- 18:50Speaker 1: terrible relationship, so you know, it was something that like
- 18:53Speaker 1: I just try to make work over and over for
- 18:54Speaker 1: my kid's sake. And the best thing I ever did
- 18:57Speaker 1: was just like you know what I mean. So now
- 19:00Speaker 1: I have my son who I have a custody of,
- 19:01Speaker 1: you know what I mean, So shout out to my son.
- 19:04Speaker 1: But yeah, it was definitely. Yeah. I would say like
- 19:06Speaker 1: if you get cheated on, I mean, look, everyone's different.
- 19:08Speaker 1: I guess like, if the circumstances are crazy, then yeah,
- 19:12Speaker 1: you should probably bounce. You should probably move on. What
- 19:16Speaker 1: about you? Have you ever taken someone back after cheating.
- 19:18Speaker 1: I've I haven't been cheated onto my knowledge. Oh well,
- 19:21Speaker 1: that's good. That's good. We'll shout out to you. You're
- 19:24Speaker 1: fucking lucky. I know that's not the case that most
- 19:27Speaker 1: people's most people's life. Yeah, we just had a topic
- 19:32Speaker 1: on the radio where someone called in and they found
- 19:36Speaker 1: out that their husband cheated like ten years prior, and
- 19:40Speaker 1: like he pretty much admitted to it. I don't know,
- 19:42Speaker 1: but never cheat it again after that. Right, So she
- 19:45Speaker 1: found out that like ten years prior that he had cheated,
- 19:49Speaker 1: and she was like, what should what should I do?
- 19:51Speaker 1: What would you do if, like, let's say you were
- 19:53Speaker 1: in a relationship, hypothetically you're with a guy for seven
- 19:55Speaker 1: or eight years and you found out in the first
- 19:57Speaker 1: year he cheated it, but you found out he hasn't
- 19:59Speaker 1: cheated since. Would you would you kind of be like like,
- 20:03Speaker 1: that's kind of a weird situation, right, It's a fifty
- 20:04Speaker 1: to fifty because it's like, obviously I understand why he
- 20:08Speaker 1: didn't tell her, but it's also like, well, you've kind
- 20:12Speaker 1: of lied to me for all these years, so how
- 20:15Speaker 1: you're pretty comfortable with lying to me? Yeah, so how
- 20:17Speaker 1: can I actually even prove that you've never done it
- 20:19Speaker 1: again one but two, Yeah, I don't know. I don't.
- 20:23Speaker 1: I don't know. If I could, I could, I would
- 20:25Speaker 1: much rather you tell me when it happened right away
- 20:27Speaker 1: and let me deal with it and figure out whether
- 20:29Speaker 1: I want to stay with you or not, and then
- 20:31Speaker 1: we go from there as a posed like, but did
- 20:33Speaker 1: she find out like she saw something and she asked
- 20:36Speaker 1: him and then he admitted it, or he came out
- 20:38Speaker 1: and was like ten years he admitted it, Like he
- 20:41Speaker 1: came out to her and said ten years ago, che did. Yeah,
- 20:43Speaker 1: I don't know predicament, But like you said, what works
- 20:47Speaker 1: for one doesn't work for the other. Like, it's very circumstantial.
- 20:50Speaker 1: It depends on the case. So I hope. I hope
- 20:52Speaker 1: for her sake she finds happiness wherever it is. What
- 20:55Speaker 1: is your go to binge watch TV shows? Ela May Oh, Euphoria, God,
- 21:01Speaker 1: Love Love You, Oh my God. I'm obsessed, but I
- 21:04Speaker 1: really don't watch that much TV, to be honest. I
- 21:06Speaker 1: think somebody was just telling me I need to watch
- 21:10Speaker 1: what's the show called? I can't even remember. I think
- 21:14Speaker 1: Euphoria was probably the last thing I binged. Ye was
- 21:16Speaker 1: your high school like even ten percent like Euphoria, not
- 21:20Speaker 1: that I know of either. I was completely out of
- 21:23Speaker 1: the loop and was like not part of the cool
- 21:24Speaker 1: kids or yeah, no it wasn't. But I do understand
- 21:29Speaker 1: how it's changed. I graduated high school ten years ago.
- 21:31Speaker 1: Social media I think has really like just changed. Like
- 21:35Speaker 1: I let my my son sixteen, and I let him
- 21:38Speaker 1: watch Euphoria, and you know, he's a good kid. So
- 21:40Speaker 1: I was just like, yeah, dude, but that shit better
- 21:43Speaker 1: not be going on at your school, right, But he
- 21:45Speaker 1: said that, He's like, no, there's kids who fucking will
- 21:48Speaker 1: come to school super high. He was like, there's kids
- 21:50Speaker 1: to sell pills, Like my damn yeah. I think the
- 21:53Speaker 1: most that happened when I was in high school was
- 21:55Speaker 1: like weed. I remember one time my some of my
- 21:59Speaker 1: friends came to school drunk, but like it was such
- 22:02Speaker 1: a one off that like they made it so hot,
- 22:06Speaker 1: like they made it so bait that they were drunk
- 22:08Speaker 1: that they got found out. So, which this is how
- 22:10Speaker 1: you know you don't do this on a regulation right, right,
- 22:12Speaker 1: because you got caught. Yeah you got caught, But they
- 22:14Speaker 1: were just doing the most. But that was probably the
- 22:17Speaker 1: only time I remember that other than people like who
- 22:19Speaker 1: would smoke after school? I guess, but the Shouters and
- 22:22Speaker 1: there she's a incredible Jesus amazing, it's actually wild amazing. Yeah,
- 22:28Speaker 1: she should get all the awards for that show, like
- 22:31Speaker 1: her acting and that show is amazing. Yeah, so just
- 22:33Speaker 1: just euphoria. Yeah, that's all I can think of right now.
- 22:36Speaker 1: I really don't know about any classics, like you ever
- 22:37Speaker 1: watch friends, my wife and kids, watch my wife? I
- 22:43Speaker 1: love my wife and kids. I don't even know I've
- 22:45Speaker 1: heard of the show which guys in it? Who's in it?
- 22:47Speaker 1: Are you? Are you being are you actually being serious?
- 22:49Speaker 1: Let me just look up. Listen, there's so many Tisha
- 22:52Speaker 1: Campbell's Damon Damon, which I get confused by all of them,
- 22:59Speaker 1: Damon Way uh uh, Paul and McKenna when she was
- 23:03Speaker 1: really I remember the show, Yes, yeah, I never watched
- 23:07Speaker 1: it though, Oh my god, how can you not? I
- 23:09Speaker 1: don't know. I'm not really into like besides, like if
- 23:12Speaker 1: I'm like going super old. I loved like Martin Seinfeld
- 23:17Speaker 1: hanging with mister Cooper, but like kind of the newer sitcoms,
- 23:22Speaker 1: I just kind of just didn't tap in, you know what.
- 23:24Speaker 1: I can't always been binge watching I'll never get tired of.
- 23:27Speaker 1: That's so raven. That's so raven. See, I'm totally I mean,
- 23:30Speaker 1: I know who that I know the show, I know who.
- 23:32Speaker 1: Shout out to her, Raven Simone, but I never watched it.
- 23:34Speaker 1: That's so raven. Was like almost like my like I
- 23:38Speaker 1: thought I was raven. My kids would watch The Sweet
- 23:40Speaker 1: Life with Zach and Cochy, so that was like, you know,
- 23:45Speaker 1: like Disney Disney Channel era. So like Lisa Maguire, I'm
- 23:48Speaker 1: obviously older than you, Okay, Okay, yeah, no, I think kids.
- 23:53Speaker 1: I could always been Shout out to Damon Wayns. Have
- 23:55Speaker 1: you ever seen Major Payne with Damon Wayns? You gotta
- 23:58Speaker 1: watch a movie. I was gonna say, is that movie? Yeah,
- 24:01Speaker 1: it's a movie. Yeah, shout out to the movies. Yo.
- 24:02Speaker 1: We got to stop the interview real quick. Shout out
- 24:04Speaker 1: to our presenting sponsor, Odds Socks. Baby, Hey man, listen,

- 24:19Speaker 1: they got all the licenses. Look, they got Halloween socks.
- 24:23Speaker 1: They have Back to the Future socks. They got fucking
- 24:25Speaker 1: Twizzler socks, old dirty bastard socks, rip to odb all right.
- 24:30Speaker 1: They also got their draws if you want to wear
- 24:32Speaker 1: some underwear with Pizzael on them, whatever you need. But
- 24:35Speaker 1: my favorite are the odd socks are basics, baby, These
- 24:38Speaker 1: are just the plain boys. These, to me are the

- 25:17Speaker 1: twenty percent off using that promo code bootleg keV. Let's
- 25:20Speaker 1: get back to the interview. You know it's crazy too,
- 25:23Speaker 1: because like I feel like I was just we just
- 25:24Speaker 1: had Junior Troy up here is obviously from the UK,
- 25:26Speaker 1: and we were kind of talking about how like, you know,
- 25:28Speaker 1: for so long, I feel like, obviously your genre music
- 25:32Speaker 1: is very receptive in the States, but for so long,
- 25:37Speaker 1: I feel like, you know, it was like a little
- 25:40Speaker 1: harder for UK artists to kind of break over here
- 25:42Speaker 1: kind of doing UK shit. But I feel like, you know,
- 25:45Speaker 1: drill is kind of changing the drill, and I don't
- 25:47Speaker 1: think a lot of people understand that. Like obviously, drill
- 25:50Speaker 1: started in Chicago, but like the UK drill scene is
- 25:53Speaker 1: what inspired the Brooklyn drill scene. And I just feel
- 25:57Speaker 1: like right now in the States, like the UK's got
- 25:59Speaker 1: its fingerprints on everything, Like yeah, I mean a lot
- 26:01Speaker 1: of stuff, you know what I mean, And I think
- 26:03Speaker 1: like I don't know what happened, but you know, obviously,
- 26:05Speaker 1: like yourself, Ed sheering Adele, you know, you guys are superstars.
- 26:11Speaker 1: But in terms of just like you know, I guess
- 26:13Speaker 1: because I feel like I know afrobeat is you know
- 26:16Speaker 1: a lot of that's but I feel like I feel
- 26:17Speaker 1: like that popped off in the UK first, and then yeah,
- 26:22Speaker 1: afrobeat so jo you talking about afrobeats. Yeah, that's been
- 26:24Speaker 1: a thing in the UK forever. Yeah, forever, literally, I
- 26:28Speaker 1: think so, like you said, social media makes things a
- 26:31Speaker 1: lot more accessible and makes people like as crazy as
- 26:34Speaker 1: it is because there's a lot of stuff on there
- 26:36Speaker 1: that we really don't need to take care of course,
- 26:38Speaker 1: of course, it's also great in terms of just like
- 26:40Speaker 1: being able to reach people or things being able to
- 26:44Speaker 1: reach you that you would have never known if you
- 26:46Speaker 1: were just I don't know, in the middle of America
- 26:48Speaker 1: somewhere randomly and you don't really travel or something like that.
- 26:51Speaker 1: So yeah, I think social media plays a big role
- 26:53Speaker 1: in that. Also, Yeah, it's crazy. Since your last album
- 26:56Speaker 1: came out, TikTok has been a it's became a thing.
- 26:58Speaker 1: TikTok is wild. I don't feel like you. I mean, listen,
- 27:01Speaker 1: there's no music for TikTok, but I don't feel like
- 27:03Speaker 1: you're like a you know, a TikTok artist, not really
- 27:07Speaker 1: at all, right, but like it is. It is the
- 27:10Speaker 1: things that go viral on TikTok, there's no explanation behind them.
- 27:13Speaker 1: It just happens. But like is the label like in
- 27:17Speaker 1: your head about TikTok now, oh lord, because it's I
- 27:20Speaker 1: can only imagine it's extremely obnoxious. I can't stand TikTok is,
- 27:24Speaker 1: so it's such a fucking headache, even for me. I
- 27:28Speaker 1: don't have it. I don't have TikTok on my phone.
- 27:30Speaker 1: I have a TikTok, I don't run it. But it's
- 27:34Speaker 1: very It's funny to me because I just saw something
- 27:36Speaker 1: where I think it was Charlie XCX and she was like,
- 27:40Speaker 1: this is my eighth TikTok that my label are trying
- 27:42Speaker 1: to force me to do blah blah blah. She was joking,
- 27:44Speaker 1: but like I felt her so much because it but
- 27:47Speaker 1: like I understand it. Obviously a label trying to make
- 27:50Speaker 1: that money. Of course, that's where the attentions at. Yeah,
- 27:52Speaker 1: that's where the attention is right now, and I'm sure
- 27:55Speaker 1: in a couple of years it will be something else.
- 27:56Speaker 1: And the kids love TikTok and it's just such a
- 27:59Speaker 1: ridiculous platform. Yeah I don't. I've never personally gotten into it.
- 28:02Speaker 1: I don't think there's anything wrong with it obviously, but
- 28:04Speaker 1: it's just thank God because you'd be on your phone
- 28:06Speaker 1: just scrolling because that album they got the best algorithm
- 28:08Speaker 1: in the world on TikTok. They got to figure it out.
- 28:10Speaker 1: Speaking of algorithm algorithm just in general. Right now, I
- 28:14Speaker 1: feel like on social media is just like really weird.
- 28:17Speaker 1: I'm trying to understand what's going on. Yeah, it's I
- 28:20Speaker 1: don't know. Twitter is a wild place right now. Twitter's
- 28:24Speaker 1: always been the wild wild West, though it is Twitter platform.
- 28:28Speaker 1: You know what what I hate about Twitter is if
- 28:31Speaker 1: someone you know is a creep and they like some
- 28:33Speaker 1: nasty shit on Twitter, you see it, it pops up
- 28:37Speaker 1: on your feet and it says so and so like this,
- 28:39Speaker 1: and I'm like, what the fuck I didn't want to
- 28:42Speaker 1: see this? Yeah. No, I think I think Twitter is
- 28:44Speaker 1: weir a weird place because I think Twitter gives people
- 28:49Speaker 1: a reason to think that their opinion is fat. Yeah.
- 28:52Speaker 1: I think that's what's wrong. And don't get me wrong.
- 28:54Speaker 1: Twitter is hilarious. That's part of Twitter that is just
- 28:57Speaker 1: like we'll have you really really dying. But anybody types
- 29:02Speaker 1: anything and it can go viral, especially now, and then
- 29:05Speaker 1: they think that like their opinion, yeah, for their experts,
- 29:09Speaker 1: they're super educated about something and it's like, bro, your
- 29:12Speaker 1: opinion is in fact, it can be obviously people agree
- 29:14Speaker 1: with it, yes, But now now we've got people walking
- 29:17Speaker 1: around thinking that they like know everything, and it's just like,
- 29:21Speaker 1: are you a fan of Elon Musk trying to buy
- 29:23Speaker 1: Twitter and fix it up? I don't really have an
- 29:25Speaker 1: opinion on it, to be honest, I don't know enough
- 29:27Speaker 1: about him to Do you have a tesla? I don't know,
- 29:30Speaker 1: not yet. With these gas prices you might need to
- 29:32Speaker 1: get Listen, it's crazy. I don't understand what not even
- 29:35Speaker 1: just gas prices though, but just like inflation in general,
- 29:38Speaker 1: it's just like it's actually wild right now. I went
- 29:40Speaker 1: to buy Hamburger meat and I was like how much? What?
- 29:43Speaker 1: It was like fucking nineteen dollars? What? It was crazy? Yeah, yeah, inflation.
- 29:49Speaker 1: There's a baby formula shortly. I've heard about that. Yeah,
- 29:53Speaker 1: the gas prices are crazy. Shit's wild right now. It's
- 29:57Speaker 1: still kind of in a pandemic. Did you buy Like,
- 30:00Speaker 1: are you a homeowner? If you don't mind me asking, So,
- 30:02Speaker 1: you got to buy a house. You probably got a
- 30:04Speaker 1: good interest rate? Then, uh yeah I did, because right
- 30:08Speaker 1: now the interest rates were yeah, no it was it
- 30:10Speaker 1: was a little while ago. Okay, okay, oh, then you're
- 30:13Speaker 1: you're rich. You're up, you're super up. I mean you're
- 30:16Speaker 1: rich anyway, but like you're up on the house for sure.
- 30:18Speaker 1: I mean I guess for sure. I just buy my
- 30:21Speaker 1: first house so well, not my first house ever, but
- 30:23Speaker 1: my first house in LA. It was expensive, I think,
- 30:27Speaker 1: and honestly, and I've lived now in three major cities
- 30:29Speaker 1: I live obviously, I'm from London. I've lived in New York,
- 30:32Speaker 1: I live in LA. I like to like go back
- 30:35Speaker 1: and forth, but I'm I'm so used to the city that,
- 30:38Speaker 1: like if I was to go down south, and I understand,
- 30:41Speaker 1: it's like so much cheaper down there, and then you
- 30:42Speaker 1: can get a lot more for your money, but like,
- 30:45Speaker 1: I just have to. I don't think I can function
- 30:47Speaker 1: in somewhere that's not like a city, right, like a
- 30:50Speaker 1: major city, right, and they're always expensive. Like which out
- 30:54Speaker 1: of those three places, obviously London is home, But just
- 30:57Speaker 1: in terms of livability, what do you like the most
- 31:00Speaker 1: New York, London or LA. I'd probably say here. Yeah,
- 31:03Speaker 1: I'll tell you this. I go to New York and
- 31:06Speaker 1: I understand why everyone's there is like an asshole loky,
- 31:09Speaker 1: you know what I mean. It's a very like imagine
- 31:11Speaker 1: like every everybody's just walking to work and you're next
- 31:15Speaker 1: to them, and then you have to take the train
- 31:16Speaker 1: with everyone quite similar. Everyone's in a rush. No one
- 31:20Speaker 1: London like when like you know, you always hear like
- 31:22Speaker 1: if in New York, if you get mugged, like everyone
- 31:24Speaker 1: just keeps it moving, and I'm like I went and
- 31:26Speaker 1: I was like, dude, I get it. Now you see
- 31:28Speaker 1: some of the stuff that happens, like in in the
- 31:30Speaker 1: subway in New York. Like if you like on Twitter,
- 31:33Speaker 1: I'll just see the wildest stuff that happens. And it's
- 31:35Speaker 1: just like people just like if you're on the train
- 31:37Speaker 1: right and someone like starts breaking out, dancing or just
- 31:40Speaker 1: doing random stuff obviously for social media, but like new
- 31:43Speaker 1: Yorker's are not even affected by out. They mind their
- 31:45Speaker 1: fucking business. Literally, you would think nothing's going with New
- 31:48Speaker 1: York is like the king of mining your business, and
- 31:50Speaker 1: it's the capital of mining your fucking business. Yeah, you
- 31:53Speaker 1: go to New York, people don't give a fuck. They
- 31:55Speaker 1: are trying to get home, they're trying to get to work.
- 31:57Speaker 1: I get it, though, Yeah, I just stand it. I
- 31:59Speaker 1: completely understand it, and I think London's similar. It's not
- 32:02Speaker 1: I don't think it's as like, it's definitely as fast paced,
- 32:06Speaker 1: I would say, but I think people are a little
- 32:09Speaker 1: more what's the right word hospitable. Yeah, Like if something's happening,
- 32:14Speaker 1: I think someone will at least try and help or
- 32:16Speaker 1: whatever else. Do you feel like London gets a bad
- 32:18Speaker 1: rap on food because anytime I ever hear about UK food,
- 32:21Speaker 1: everyone says it's super bland and it's yeah, but I
- 32:24Speaker 1: understand why. I think you have to obviously know where
- 32:26Speaker 1: to go. I think that's anywhere, and I think that
- 32:31Speaker 1: a lot of the places, even in any city actually
- 32:33Speaker 1: that I've been in, a lot of the good food
- 32:35Speaker 1: is not obviously in the touristy parts. That's like the
- 32:39Speaker 1: I tell people to get off yelp. Yeah, that's the
- 32:41Speaker 1: but that's the generic food, Like you know, they're trying
- 32:43Speaker 1: to appease a lot of different people. Because this is
- 32:45Speaker 1: a tourist area. You have to go to like the
- 32:47Speaker 1: hood or go to like the real cultured places in
- 32:50Speaker 1: order to get good food. I think that's most places
- 32:52Speaker 1: that I've been to be fair lastic breakdown. Just the
- 32:55Speaker 1: name of your album part of my sleeve. Yeah, I
- 32:59Speaker 1: mean it's pretty much what it says. I think I
- 33:01Speaker 1: wear my arm and not even I think I know,
- 33:03Speaker 1: I know you do. Yeah, just in general, Yeah, it
- 33:06Speaker 1: was a great listen, a great album. Thank you. I'm
- 33:10Speaker 1: assuming there's videos already shot that are coming soon. Tour coming, Yeah,
- 33:13Speaker 1: we're planning it right now. So definitely. Are you excited
- 33:16Speaker 1: to get back on the road. It's my favorite part
- 33:17Speaker 1: of all of this touring, Yes, going and seeing the
- 33:20Speaker 1: people singing along to your songs. Is there like anything
- 33:22Speaker 1: that feels better than that? When you're performing a song
- 33:24Speaker 1: and you got, you know, all these people singing word
- 33:27Speaker 1: for word, It's literally unmatched. It's the best feeling ever
- 33:29Speaker 1: I can only imagine. Yeah, well, Ellen, may I appreciate
- 33:32Speaker 1: you coming through, Thank you, thank you for having me.
- 33:33Speaker 1: Go get the album, Yes, and go watch my wife
- 33:36Speaker 1: and kids.
